Is She Mine? (Negan x Wife!Reader)
Tumblr media
Anon Request: can you do a negan imagine where the reader was his real wife before the walkers came and after he starts getting more wives and kinda forgets the reader, she leaves in the middle of the night. Then maybe a year later, Negan finds out about another community and tries to take their stuff but he and the saviors get captured and they find out that the reader is the leader? (Optional: maybe the reader was pregnant and Began didn’t know and finds out about the kid)
A/N: Ok I will always associate Negan with Denny Duquette because I watched Grey's before I watched Walking dead and it’s just so weird seeing Jeffrey in a completely different setting.
Warnings: Normal TWD gore, language
You watched from the back as your husband, Negan, pressed another iron to a poor man’s face, causing you to wince as the screams of pain and smell of burnt flesh invaded your nostrils. You looked toward the other wives who looked just as disgusted at what your husband was doing.
You were his first and he was never like this. Always kind and compassionate but then the dead began to rise and he felt the need to grow a shell around his personality, forming an alter ego that everyone knew. No one knew the real Negan, only you, and it made you sick to your stomach watching him turn so sadistic. Shaking your head, you walked away from the group of people that were watching the poor torturing of another worker who dared challenge Negan’s authority. Making your way to your room, you were soon joined by the other wives who ignored you for the most part. They sat throughout the room and talked amongst themselves, reading books or downing drinks that stocked the bar.
“Well would you look at this, all of my wives are looking so divine tonight,” Negan stated as you all looked at him, waiting for his next pick. Whenever he complimented his “collection” it always meant he was wanting sex and would choose one of his wives to satisfy his needs. For the past three months, it hasn’t been you. It’s never you anymore. It’s always one of the younger and prettier ones who weren’t “forced” but were forced to marry him. Swinging his baseball bat around, the girls ignored his eagerness as his eyes surveyed the room, purposely skipping the corner in which you stood, crossing your arms over the small bump that was beginning to form.
“Tina, come with me my dear,” he spoke out after a moment of silence as Tina nodded and followed him out. Once the pair left, you turned around, hiding your face from the rest of the girls before a pair of heels clicked their way over to you.
“How are you?” Sherry asked as you looked at her with an exasperated look.
“Sick, morning sickness is no joke, and he doesn't even know,” you mumbled as she grasped your shoulder in a comforting way before pulling you into a hug.
“You need to get away,” she whispered in your ear as you nodded with a frown.
“I know.”
You sat in your room, hoping Negan would join you tonight like he did when he first started the Sanctuary. As the clock ticked, however, you realized he wasn’t going to join you, again. Sighing, you sat up and tore off the black dress that hugged your figure and traded it for a pair of jeans and a hoodie, making sure to pack a bag of food and water before sneaking out of the compound and into the neighboring woods, never looking back.
That was years ago and you had joined a small community after journeying into the woods for a couple of days. Sooner than later, after their leader fell ill, the people had decided that with your knowledge and natural leadership qualities that you would be the best fit for the role. You insisted that you wouldn’t take the role, but they were insistent on the job as you had caved in. You sat peacefully on the steps of your hut as you heard a sequel from behind you, watching your daughter run out of the house, being chased by another one of the communities kids. Smiling, you were suddenly pulled out of your thoughts by the bell ringing throughout the community.
“What’s going on?” You asked one of the guards as your daughter joined your side, clutched to a scarf that you had tied around your pants for her to cling to.
“Our Ops surrounded a group of men. They demand that they speak to the leader of the community,” one of your men stated as you grabbed a walkie talkie.
“Tate, how many?” You asked and waited for a reply.
“15, they call themselves the Saviors. We have them surrounded,” Tate replied, however, you didn’t hear the rest after the mention of the Saviors.
“(Y/N)?” Earl asked, looking you over as you froze in shock. Feeling the tugging at your waist, you looked down and saw your daughter who had his hair and eye shape stare back up at you.
“Mommy, you okay?” She asked as you smiled down at her and pet her hair, smoothing out fly aways.
“Mommy needs you to stay here okay? Don’t come out until I come and get you,” you stated, motioning for one of the other mothers in the community to watch over your kid. Walking away, you grabbed one of the rifles and followed your group out to the woods to meet the man who forgot you.
“Well, well, well, what do we have here?” You asked from behind the line of men that barricaded the group.
“We are here to hopefully discuss trading opportunities,” Negan stated, not picking up on voice recognition.
“And by trading opportunities you mean pillaging and plundering.”
“If it comes to it, yes.” Simon spoke as you rolled your eyes, making your way through the crowd to the front to face your husband.
“Not a fan,” you spoke with rigor as you saw Negan stiffen, finally comprehending who was behind him.
“(Y/N),” he whispered, straining against the rope around his wrists.
“Hi honey. Miss me?” You asked with spite as you circled his group, coming to face him.
“As a matter of fact I do,” he admitted and for a second your face softened before turning back to a shell.
“We don't want to trade with you.”
“Babe, you should, I wouldn’t want to use force on you,” he replied with a sick smirk as you let out a laugh.
“I don't think you're in much position to bargain right now, sweetie,” you spat out as he growled and tried to launch forward to you, only to fail.
“Mommy!” Your daughter called out to you as you froze, Negan noticed and looked at you quizzically before turning his attention to the little girl who ran toward you.
“Baby, what did I say?”
“To stay back.”
“Now why are you out here?”
“I don’t have my doll,” she spoke softly as you sighed and ran a hand through your hair before pulling out her doll from your pocket.
“Is she mine?” He asked, earning confused stares from everyone in your group and his. Both groups knew that you are married, they just didn't know that you were pregnant or that your kid was Negan’s.
“It's none of your concern anymore,” you replied, pushing your kid behind you while she peered at the man in front of you.
“(Y/N), if she's mine I have the right to have her with me.”
“Not anymore, you lost that right when you started sleeping around with other women. Listen, we’ll let you go if you promise to never come back here again. if you do come back, we will kill you on sight.” Nodding, he remained silent and glanced over to your daughter who was around 4 years old now.
“Are we letting them go?” Tate asked as you nodded, walking away from the scene, taking your daughter’s hand and leading her away from her father.
Later that night you strolled through the yard and checked everything over before you heard a roar of a car come up to the gates.
“(Y/N), I think it’s him,” one of the guards yelled to you as you nodded, signaling them to let you past the gates and out to the open where Negan leaned against his car.
“Is she?”
“Yes.”
“Why didn't you tell me?” He asked with a hint of remorse scattered across his face as you looked at him.
“I tried, I tried getting you to come to my room every night to tell you but you were so busy with all of your other wives that you never did. So I ran. I knew it isn’t safe there for her, it’s not safe there for me either.”
“How far were you when you left?”
“Three months. Her name is Sarah,” you mentioned as he smiled softly and looked at you.
“She looks like you,” he mumbled as you scoffed and looked over your shoulder, looking up at the guards who had their rifles aimed at him.
“She acts like you,” you smiled meekly, running your palms down your jeans.
“I never meant to ignore you. I’m sorry I did, but I would really like to be apart of her life,” he stated as he took your hands in his and you couldn’t find the heart to pull away, missing the physical attention he gave from time to time.
“It's not going to work.”
“(Y/N), please, she’s mine. I am her father. At least let me meet her.”
“No Negan. You’re not safe for her. The sanctuary isn't safe for her. You shouldn’t be here.”
“I miss you.”
“Your pity won’t work on me. I’m not weak anymore.” “You never were,” he admitted as you locked eyes with him, drawn in by his hypnotic gaze but quickly pulled away. Thinking for a minute, you sighed in defeat.
“If you want her in your life, here are some rules. Your Saviors leave us alone, if one of them comes near here that isn’t you, your privilege to see Sarah are gone, as well as your men. You can come by twice a month by yourself and you will be supervised by me. Under no circumstance is she going to the Sanctuary. Deal?” You rambled as he nodded before pulling you into his arms, wrapping around you tightly.
“Thank you. I really do miss you,” he whispered as you stood still before slowly melting in his hug, relishing the way his body heat covers you.
“I miss you too. Don’t fuck this up.”
“I won’t.” He replied before pulling away and getting in his car, driving away, leaving you to ponder all of your thoughts.

WHY I BELIEVE ELRIEL IS ACOTAR 5
DISCLAIMER: As you have read from the title, this post is strictly pro-elriel and my personal opinion. If you don't agree or don't ship them then kindly move along no need to be mean to people on the internet over their personal preferences and opinions.
THE CASE OF THE BONUS CHAPTERS
In my opinion, if you base your argument that Elain and Azriel will not be together by only using his bonus chapter alone then it is very unwise.
As it stands, Azriel’s bonus chapter is only extra content that can be not read by the readers. This is proven by its accessibility only extends for US readers, even then the book that contains the chapter is only sold by one bookstore chain so many US readers don't have the chapter unless they are engaging in the fandom.
The same goes for Feysand’s bonus chapter. Granted, there is nothing altering in Feysand’s bonus chapter except to give us a little insight into how they came to name Nyx and them discussing Elain and her potential. However, there is one major line that makes it clear Elain’s book is next.
“Let’s focus on helping one sister before we start on the other”. (FEYRE’S BONUS CHAPTER IN ACOSF)
The line above had no business to be in Feysand’s bonus chapter if Elain’s book is not next.
Why? Well, the bonus chapters are placed at the end of the book and by the time we arrive at that chapter Nesta’s story is very much told.
Like, Sarah has said, I don’t think Nesta’s journey is finished, what I am saying is that her story is been told then it will go to the other sister, Elain.
Thus, for me, those two chapters only intend to be a confirmation of Elain’s book and Azriel as her love interest.
Now, if you want to argue that Azriel’s POV is a confirmation that he and Gwyn are mates then it should’ve been included in the actual book.
What I mean by included is his apparent ‘mate behavior’ toward her or hell anything resembling romantic interactions.
Why? So that casual reader also notices there is something going on between them.
Now, what is the purpose of Gwyn being in the bonus chapter? When you look back at the actual book, you will notice one thing that is mysterious about her: her singing/voice.
Nesta reacted to her singing and so did Azriel’s shadows. No, I am not saying she is 100% a lightsinger, I am saying that her presence in the bonus is meant to give us a little clue of her power not her and Az as mates. Like I said, there should've been something romantic between them that is included in the actual book. Their interactions in ACOSF are incomparable with Elriel's interaction.
But again, we shouldn’t base our argument on chapters that many may think not exist. The main evidence of the next book should be from ACOSF itself.
ELAIN AND ELRIEL’S BOOK CONFIRMATION IN ACOSF
Elain who seemed to be very compliant and passive suddenly show the other side of herself in ACOSF that take everyone by surprise.
Elain who everyone thinks is a people pleaser suddenly talked back to Nesta when she was about to be coddled.
Elain who has been passive since the original series suddenly volunteered to help find the dread troves or anything to help resolve the Koschei situation.
Now that Nesta couldn’t find the missing trove because she lost her powers and Feyre bound by the death bargain with Rhysand, who else the inner circle turned to?
Now, that Koschei is still a threat, which female character that was from the original series side character that had a connection with him and that’s been highlighted the glimpse of change in character throughout ACOSF?
You may argue that Elain showed little development in ACOSF, however, she is set to be the main character.
If she is not set to be the main character then it would make sense for her development to be in the background of another character’s story.
A main character’s character development is a part of their narrative journey to become a developed character at the end of the story (as we’ve seen with Nesta and Feyre). Therefore, we need to read it from their inner thoughts to witness and make sense of the scenes that make them a changed character.
Also, may I add that Nesta’s development was regressing not developing in ACOFAS but her book is next, isn’t it?
Now, when we have established that Elain is the next main character based on ACOSF alone, we must now analyze who will be her love interest.
It is either to be Lucien and Azriel (Tamlin never in the equation just because they are associated with flowers and no Elain doesn’t want to be coddled she literally talked bak to Nesta when Nesta doesn’t let her scry, where do you get that Tamlain shipper?).
Let’s compare their last interactions in ACOSF, shall we?
“Cassian’s heart strained at the pain etching deep into Lucien’s face as he tried to hide his disappointment and longing. Elain only shrank further into herself, no trace of that newfound boldness to be seen.” (ACOSF, CHAPTER 58)
vs
“...Then his gaze shifted to Elain, and though it was utterly neutral, something charged went through it. Between them. Elain’s breath caught slightly...” (ACOSF, CHAPTER 58)
We have these two interactions between Elucien and Elriel in the same chapter as if Sarah herself wants to point out the obvious where Elain’s feelings truly lay.
I know Elriel's confirmation is probably not very convincing for some people. However, we must take into account both characters’ personalities.
If you have read Azriel's bonus then you will notice that Elain is very shy around Azriel (she was shaking and nervous when she gave his present remember?) and Azriel tends to mask his emotion when he is in the presence of others (Nesta is the one narrated their charged glance).
So yes, that scene is enough confirmation for their attraction, they are naturally quiet and shy. I expect no less from them as a confirmation especially when we don't have their POVs when we initially reach that part in ACOSF.
A POSSIBILITY OF GWYNRIEL/ELUCIEN BOOK IS NEXT?
The only way I could see Gwynriel getting a book is if their book is a novella.
As I have made a post here, Azriel and Gwyn do not have a direct (read: major) relation to the main plot that can carry it to its peak in ACOTAR 6.
Because of that their book should be a novella since nothing major happen in their book except that maybe they got together.
However, we know that the novella’s release date has been pushed back and forth and Sarah herself admitted in her March Instagram live that she doesn’t know what the novella is going to be.
So it safe to assume that the next installment will not be the novella, rather, the full book or the actual book which inherently will be Elain's and by default Elriel's.
The next book could be about Elucien if only they have interactions at all in ACOSF so that it will build up their unresolved conflict. I’m basing this argument on Nesta and Cassian’s interaction in ACOFAS.
In ACOFAS, despite the fact that Nesta and Cassian were fighting there were indeed interactions between them that must be resolved. Instead, in ACOSF the only interactions that actually happen and need to be solved are between Elain and Azriel.
“He’d been replaced in training by a stone-faced Azriel, who was more aloof than usual and wouldn’t even give her a smile.” (ACOSF, CHAPTER 59)
The thing that needs to be resolved between them is explained by their misunderstanding that happened in his bonus chapter.
Yes, I am aware that I said we shouldn’t base our argument on his bonus chapter, however, the line above is a direct callback and outcome to what happens between Elain and Azriel as well as Rhysand’s warning in his bonus chapter.
How else you’re going to explain why Azriel became more aloof than usual if not resorting back to that particular fight between him and Rhysand because of Elain? How else you're going to explain why Elain and Azriel suddenly stop interacting after they are confirmed to be attracted toward one another?
Regardless of our contrasting opinions and interpretation of Azriel’s POV, we must remember that it is a bonus chapter and those scenes in his bonus might not be canon for those who have not read it or learned of its existence.
Also, in order to speculate the next book's main character, we need to get past the barrier of romantic interactions and actually think about what the next main character will contribute to the main plot of the story.
As it stands, only Elain can carry a book by herself regardless of any romantic subplot. And because Elain’s book is next and we’ve seen close to zero interactions between her and Lucien then her love interest will be Azriel.
Elucien and Elriel have been built up alongside each other since ACOMAF, and yet only one of them that’s progressed and is being set up when it comes to the plotline. So yes, Elriel is the endgame.

A lesson in Recollection (Don Giorno x Wife! Reader)
An awesome request from a nonnie mouse, I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. Thanks so much for requesting my sweet 💕💜😘💭🐞
TW: brief descriptions of injuries, anxiety and hospitals
Word count: 1.7k
The beeps and hisses of the medical equipment were the only sounds that could be heard in your hospital room. Next to your bed sat your husband, jaw squared off, mouth clenched shut trying to contain his rage. His usually immaculate appearance was disheveled as he clutched your delicate hand against his lips.
He blamed himself for the position you were in by default, a husband was supposed to love and protect, the convention is built into the vows themselves. In reality though, the attack had happened so fast and so suddenly that nobody would have been able to preempt it. None of that mattered now… even though the offenders were severely dealt with, your condition was still the same. It had been a week, and you were still asleep. Your superficial injuries were taken care of by Giorno, but still you wouldn’t wake up. Numerous scans and brain activity tests revealed some swelling in your brain which was slowly subsiding, he simply had to be patient and wait for you to open your eyes again… and fortunately for him, it happened… unfortunately, you stared at him blankly, unable to put a name to his handsome, crestfallen face.
“Tesoro, it’s me… Giorno… your husband,”
“Tesoro? What’s that? I’m… married? I… I don’t feel so good,” you whispered, unable to find your voice after being unconscious for so long.
“Okay, okay amore, I’m getting your doctor, please hang on for me,”
You looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings, at the towering blond man scrambling around with all the white coats, you tried to push yourself up to join the conversation happening just above your head, but your physical strength was virtually nonexistent.
You were given a few days to physically recuperate, being subjected to test upon test to make sure that there was no other underlying cause for your loss of memory. The man who called himself your husband came to see you every day, bringing your favorite flowers, drinks, foods and scents with him in an attempt to help your memory recover. Even though you couldn’t remember him, you felt a sense of peace when you were around him, as if his soul was trying to connect on a subconscious level with your own. He was the only one who was able to talk you down from your bouts of anxiety, or the nightmares that sometimes plagued you. You figured he must have loved you immensely with all the effort he put into trying to get you to remember him.
“Your wife has retrograde amnesia, Mr. Giovanna. Fortunately, the swelling has subsided and her intracranial pressure has managed to consistently remain within normal levels, which is why I’m clearing her to go home. If there is any change in her condition or level of consciousness though, bring her back immediately. The road is a long one, Mr. Giovanna, there are no guarantees that her memories will return, but I have confidence that with the right care, she will be able to recover steadily.” Your doctor spoke honestly, not wanting to create unrealistic expectations, what he didn’t know was that Giorno was the type of person who always achieved whatever he had put his mind to- and right now, he was only concerned with making sure you would come out of this as unscathed as possible. Knowing that you would need all of his attention in the near future, he enlisted the help of his underboss and consigliere to help him run the organization remotely without having anyone privy to what he was actually doing. Both Mista and Fugo willingly obliged, wanting nothing than for you to make a full recovery.
“Thank you doctor, I’ll keep a close eye on her,” Giorno was relieved you were well enough to return home, the villa was painfully quiet and empty without you and he was certain that being in your sanctuary would help you remember your life with him. Looking at you sitting with your legs swinging off the side of your hospital bed and a faraway look in your eyes, you appeared so fragile and innocent.
“Good morning beautiful, how are you feeling today?” you turned to face him with a soft smile.
“Good morning Giorno, I’m okay thanks, and you?” the tender way in which you addressed him, being concerned for his well-being warmed his heart, whether you remembered him or not, you were still you… he was still yours as much as you were his.
“I’m much better now that I’m taking you home, shall we leave my love?”
“I’m ready, let’s go,”
Your doting husband helped you off the bed and took your things, you didn’t want to be wheeled out on the wheelchair, so you both walked out to the luxury car waiting for you. You didn’t expect there to be a driver, or a guard escorting you both… what does he do as job to be able to afford all this you mused. Come to think of it, you didn’t really know what your job was either… you decided to leave those questions for later. The entire drive home, you looked out of the window, the route home was unfamiliar, the imposing villa you were driven up to didn’t even feel real.
“Welcome home my love. Come, let’s get you settled in,”
“We live here? What exactly do we do?” your voice was imbued with curiosity.
“Well, I run a large, multidivisional organization, you are in charge of handing our philanthropic ventures, I’ll explain more later on… are you okay to walk up the stairs? In fact, never mind,” he said as he lifted you off the ground and carried you up the stairs despite your reassurances that you were fine. You looked at the beautifully decorated home, pictures of you both tastefully dotted throughout the hall way. Looking at his gorgeous angled face, you wondered how you both met and fell in love.
“This is our room bella, would you like to take a nap?”
“Gio, I’m fine… sorry, it just slipped out, do you mind if I call you Gio? It just sounds… right,”
“Of course bella, I’d prefer that. Ah! You must be hungry, all those days just eating hospital food… what would you like eat? Our chef will make anything you want, everyone has missed you here, so they’re all pretty excited you’re back home,”
“Really? I’d like to meet everyone later… if they’re not busy,”
“Okay my love,” said Giorno as he went into his closet to fetch something more casual to wear, choosing a simple V-neck t-shirt and jeans, shaking out his hair from its usual style, and leaving it unbound about his shoulders. He walked out to find you sitting at your vanity, looking at the products and the baubles, lifting up your favorite hairbrush and examining its engravings. He walked towards you, and took his place behind you, lifting your hair off your shoulders and bringing it to the back, he took the ornate brush from your grasp and began to gently brush your hair. Your injuries were well healed by now, but Giorno was still extremely careful.
“How does this feel? I’m not hurting you am I?
“No, it feels really nice actually… Gio… would you tell me how we met? Like, what’s our story? I see all the pictures around and we look so happy,”
“We were happy, bella, we still are, we’ll get back what was lost and create even better memories on the way… we met 10 years ago, we were just stupid ambitious kids back then, both 15 years old with heads full of dreams. I won’t go into detail, but we had very… unique occupations and abilities. We’ve been through a lot together, and rebuilt this organization from the ground up. We’ve been together as a couple for seven years and married for the past two,”
“Sounds like quite a journey for a pair as young as us… and now there’s this… I’m sorry, I’m sure you didn’t imagine something like this would happen,” the apologetic quality of your voice saddened Giorno, the last thing he wanted was for you to feel like this was your fault.
“We have fought against worse my love, and just like that we’ll handle this together… come, no sad faces now,” said Giorno as he braided some flowers into your hair.
“Wow, you’re good at this… where did you get the flowers from, you didn’t move an inch?” you asked, admiring his handiwork.
With a smile he replied that he’ll show you a bit later on, which you accepted. The rest of day was spent by talking about some of the interesting things that had happened to you both in the past. Being wary of overwhelming you, Giorno didn’t go into great detail about the more tragic experiences. When it came time for you to sleep, he suggested he sleep in one of the guest rooms if you felt uncomfortable, but you asked him to stay with you, feeling guilty that you were the reason he felt like he had to behave like a guest in his own home.
As you got more comfortable, and built up your strength with your recovery, Giorno slowly started reintegrating you back into your old routine, as difficult as it was, you had made great strides in re-learning key bits of information. Your mental fortitude had constantly reminded your husband exactly why he had fallen in love with you, the least he could do with your trying so hard, was to match your effort, working tirelessly with you on the exercises that your therapist suggested, recreating pivotal events so you could experience some semblance of what you would have when it initially occurred, and most importantly, being the support you needed when things became overwhelming.
Slowly you were reintroduced to Mista, Fugo and Trish, reestablishing the friendships almost immediately. You were grateful for the wonderful people who surrounded you, from the staff at the villa to Giorno’s closest associates who constantly sought to aid in your recovery. Most of all though, you were grateful for Giorno, you were aware of how much he had done and continues to do to aid you. While you were cognizant of everything you had been through together, having regained most of your memory through your combined efforts, what had remained altered though, was how you felt about Giorno, this whole experience solidifying your bond even more than you thought possible, it had just reaffirmed that you both would be able to overcome even the most dire of situations if you handled it together.

Stay with me - tony stark x fem!reader
A/N: I've re entered my marvel phase once again and I'm not mad about it! I'm so desperate to see Black Widow it looks so good! Anyway enjoy this. The details about panic attacks are based on my personal experiences but they can effect different people in different ways.
Warnings: Panic attacks, swearing
***= Time Skip
Word Count: 2680
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Guys I’m going to be fine. I always am. It was a one-time thing, I promise” I sighed as Nat, Steve and Bruce followed me into the kitchen of the avengers compound.
“We just want you to be okay, it didn’t exactly look like you enjoyed the experience.” Nat said sitting opposite me.
“You almost passed out. That happening while your out is the last thing any of us want for you.” Bruce added. I sipped my drink, not wanting to continue this conversation. The team had becoming increasingly cautious around me since I had a really bad panic attack last week. The truth is I’ve been dealing with them since I was a kid, before I’d even met any of the avengers, I just learnt how to hide them. But last week, things got too much, and I lost control. I don’t remember much but evidently everyone found out. They thought this was a new thing to me and were now trying to wrap me up like some sort of fragile object.
“I’ll be fine. I’m going to be with Casey, and I’m literally just going to be sat in an office all day. The hardest thing I will have to do is battle her shitty coffee machine” I joked, trying to get them to drop the subject. My best friend Casey had asked me to come into work with her to sort through a bunch of files that her boss had dumped on her after she broke up with him. I have no clue what she actual does but she was apparently ‘up to her tits’ in paperwork so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to join her. Just then my phone rang.
“Hey Case, I’m just about to leave. Yeah I’ll meet you at the station. Okay cool. Bye” I hung up and grabbed my bag. “Well, this has been fun, but I have a train to catch so I’ll see you all later.” As I turned to leave I felt someone grab my arm, pulling me back.
“You’re not getting the train. Get happy to take you.” Steve said causing me to roll my eyes.
“Steve I’m not a child, I’m capable of getting a train. Plus, it’s not Happy’s job to chauffeur me around, he has tony for that.” I replied.
“Who has me for what?” Tony piped up walking in.
“Nothing, I have to go.” I said before once again turning to leave.
“F.R.I.D.A.Y call happy and tell him to get the car ready.” Tony said not looking up from his phone.
“Right away Mr Stark”
I groaned. “Are you kidding me?”
“Hey for once I agree with capsicle. We don’t need you dying on a train now do we?”
“I hate you.”
“Ouch my heart.”
It was starting to piss me off at how the were treating me. I get that they just wanted to look out for me, but it was just making me feel even more pathetic than I already did. I slumped down onto the sofa irritated. Suddenly I felt a light tap on my shoulder. Looking up I saw Nat leaning again the back of the sofa, looking down at me.
“I know it might feel like we’re being unfair or irrational, but we just want you to be safe. We need you.” I smiled slightly at her words.
“Thanks Nat.” She nodded at me before walking off.
“Miss Y/L/N. Happy is ready for you.”
“Thanks F.R.I.D.A.Y” I grabbed my stuff, yelling a quick goodbye to everyone before making my way downstairs and into the back of the black Mercedes parked outside the compound.
*******************************************************************
“Seriously did you have to dump him 2 weeks before you were due to leave? There’s so much crap here.” I groaned jokingly, sifting through the many papers laid out in front of me.
“It’s not my fault he was boring. I just couldn’t hack it anymore” Casey replied chuckling.
“Why did I agree to this?” I said leaning back in my chair.
“Because you love and care about me.” She said smiling at me
“Hmm that’s debatable.” I joked, causing her to swat my arm with the file she was holding. Thankfully, there was a small knock at the door that saved me from any further attacks.
“Excuse me Casey, boss man needs you in his office. He didn’t sound too happy.”
“Okay thanks, I’ll come now.” She replied. As she left the room she shot me an anxious look to which I responded a very supportive thumbs up. I know, I’m great.
*******************************************************************
I don’t know how long Casey had been gone but I’d suddenly began to feel a trickle of anxiety wash through my bones. I’d felt uneasy as soon as she’d left but I tried to push the feeling away and throw myself back into the paperwork. But every time I looked at the page, my eyes couldn’t focus. All the words were merging together in front of me.
“Please not now.” I mumbled to myself. I could feel my heart hammering a mile a minute against my ribcage as my hands began to shake uncontrollably. My throat felt as if it was collapsing in on itself as I tried my best to get oxygen into my lungs. I wanted to get up, to run outside, but I felt like if I moved I was going to be sick everywhere. So, I stayed there, trapped, with my head in my hands praying for this to be over. After what felt like a lifetime, the feeling began to dissipate – only to be replaced with an overwhelming sense of tiredness. Physically unable to hold myself up any longer, I let my head fall against the desk. I felt so drained, so weak I wasn’t sure how I would get home at this point. Where the hell was Casey?
---AT THE AVENGERS COMPOUND(third person pov)---
“Mr Stark. You told me to alert you when Miss Y/L/N’s heart rate began to climb. It has rapidly increased over the past few minutes and does not appear to be settling” F.R.I.D.A.Y said. Tony rushed over to the screen that was currently displaying Y/N’s heart rate.
“Oh shit.” He said to himself, running his fingers through his hair. A moment later, Steve entered the lab.
“Everything alright stark?” He asked leaning against one of the desks.
“Not at all. Y/N’s having another panic attack right now.” Tony explained, visibly stressed.
“What?” Steve said standing up straight.
“I have to go get her.” Tony said pulling his jacket on. Before Steve could even reply, Tony headed for the door.
---BACK AT THE OFFICE(first person pov)---
I’d been able to prop my head up in my hands once again, but I was barely able to keep my eyes open. All I wanted was to go home. Suddenly I heard the door open.
“Oh my god Y/N. What happened? Are you okay?” Casey said rushing to my side, clearly noticing my dilemma.
“N-no” I stuttered. My voice came out as a sort of broken whisper. I’d never felt more drained. I heard the door open once more.
“Casey?-“
“Not now, I’m busy”
“No seriously-“
“Did you not hear me? Go away john”
“But Tony stark is looking for you.” He spat out. Relief spread throughout me at the mention of his name. Casey jumped up and ran out, soon retuning with Tony.
“Thank god” I breathed. Tony knelt down beside me in an instant.
“Hey you.” He said softly. “Let’s get you home okay?” He smiled at me sympathetically. I nodded and went to reach for my stuff.
“I’ll get that, put your jacket on.”
“Didn’t bring one.” I mumbled.
“Of course, you didn’t” He said sarcastically as he pulled his off and wrapped it around my shoulders. I slipped my arms in and hugged it tight to me, enjoying the heat it was providing.
“Come on then.” I felt Tony slip his arm around my waist as he pulled me to my feet. I wrapped one of my arms around his shoulders as the other fell by my side. “You okay?” He asked.
“Just get me home.” I whispered.
“Why do you think I’m here?” He joked. We made our way down the hall, tony taking the most of my weight.
“Thank you for coming.” I said as we got into the elevator.
“Anytime gorgeous.” He replied with his signature grin.
“How come you are here though? How did you know I needed you?” I asked.
“I have a sixth sense. Like peter, expect I sense panic attacks” he said chuckling.
“Seriously tony. I didn’t even call you.” I pressed. He fidgeted uncomfortably next to me.
“Okay don’t be mad at me. Because if you think about it if I hadn’t done it I wouldn’t have known you were freaking out and you’d probably still be stuck there, and I know that that’s the last thing you would want so technically I-“
“Just spit it out stark”
“I tracked you.”
I starred at him. “You tracked me?” He nodded sheepishly. “Wha- How?” I stuttered.
“You know I gave you that new watch? Well, I may have changed some things” He said avoiding my eyes.
“What things?”
“Well, I just made sure it would be able to give me your location. A-and if your heartrate reached a certain point, F.R.I.D.A.Y would let me know.” He explained. I didn’t say anything. I wasn’t even mad, but I like the fact he thought I was. “Look before you have a go at me I just wanted to keep you safe.” I smiled at his words.
“I know. I’m not mad.”
“Oh, thank god.”
********************************************************************
The journey home was harmless. The fresh air had done me the world of good. Even those I was still worn out; I was feeling a lot more human. When we pulled up to the compound, Tony rushed to my side to open the door and help me stand.
“I’m okay tony you can relax now” I chuckled.
“I just don’t need you passing out on my watch, Steve won’t let me hear the end of it” He joked.
“Nice to know you care about me.” I replied. As soon as we walked in, I saw Steve talking anxiously with Nat and Wanda.
“Y/N thank god.” Nat rushed over to me, pulling me in for a hug.
“I’m alive guys false alarm.” I said light-heartedly, letting her go.
“Do you know why this keeps happening to you all of a sudden?” Wanda asked. Before I could answer she gasped slightly. “Oh…” Shit. I forgot she could read minds. She’d figured it out.
“What is it Wanda?” Steve asked. Wanda starred at me for a moment. I really didn’t know if she was going to tell them so I cut her off before she could.
“Casey was having an affair with her boss.” I blurted out, causing them all to look at me. “That’s why I went in with her today, she broke up with him and to get back at her he’s been giving her a shit ton of paperwork for no reason. While I was there he called her into his office, leaving me alone. I guess I was just so stressed about what they were talking about I worked myself up.” I lied. Wanda nodded in agreement with me, but the look she gave me made me think that this conversation definitely wasn’t over.
“Okay well I’m going to get this one into bed, see you guys later” Tony said coming up behind me, placing his hand on my back. We made our way up to my room where I promptly flopped onto my bed, gladly expecting the comfort it provided.
“Nope come on get up.” Tony said tugging my leg.
“What? I thought we came up here so I could sleep? I’ve had a long day tony.” I groaned.
“Yes but you need to change. I’m not having you sleep in jeans. The thought of it alone is enough to give me nightmares.” He replied, pulling me so I was sitting upright. “You stay there, don’t fall asleep.” He said before quickly dashing out of the room. I sighed, leaning back on my elbows. Tony was my best friend, sure, but that didn’t stop him being a massive pain in the arse. He soon returned, holding what looked like pyjamas.
“Why have you brought those? I have my own clothes you know.” “No shit sherlock. But I know that you like to wear these when your ill so I figured you might want some comfort after what happened today.” He said setting them down beside me. His words caused me to stare at him for a second. The genuine care in his voice was enough to make my stomach flip. The fact that he’d even thought of something like that caused a few tears to come to the surface.
“Stop starring at me, it’s creepy” He said with a chuckle. When he looked over at me, his face dropped. “Y/N? Are you okay? Why are you crying?” He knelt down in front of me, taking my hand in his.
“I just- Thank you. For the clothes. The fact that you noticed that means the world to me.” I said softly, gazing at our hands.
“I always notice” He mumbled. I looked at him fondly, a strange feeling growing inside of me. We settled in a comfortable silence for a moment. For some reason, my view on tony shifted. That one gestured made my entire opinion of him change. I’d always known I cared for him deeply, more so than myself. And I won’t sit here and tell you I’ve been in love with him since I first met him, because that sure as hell isn’t the case. We’d been friends. Nothing more, nothing less. But now, seeing this side of him, maybe there was a possibility for us to be something more. Whatever that was we didn’t need to figure out right now. But I wanted him with me.
“I’ll leave you to get changed.” His voice snapped me from my thoughts as he dropped my hand from his.
“No, wait don’t go.” I said hurriedly going to pull him back.
“I’ll just be on the other side of the door.” He chuckled. I let him go and went about changing. He’d left me one of his old Metallica t shirts. It wasn’t too big for me, but big enough to be comfortable. I paired with a pair of basketball shorts I’d bought him a couple years ago for Christmas. Not that he actually played basketball, I just thought they were cool. I went over to the door and opened it, not expecting tony to fall back onto my feet. I laughed as he scrambled to stand up right.
“You could’ve knocked or something.” He said straightening his shirt.
“I didn’t expect you to be on the floor” I laughed.
“Whatever” He rolled his eyes, sitting at the edge of my bed. Once I’d calmed myself down, I sat down next to him and rested my head on his shoulder. He moved so his arm was round my shoulder, allowing me to move closer.
“I like this.” I said softly.
“Like what?” “
This. Being with you.”
“So do I” He whispered.
I closed my eyes, enjoying the silence.
“No, you’re not falling asleep like this. Lie down” Tony said shrugging me off his shoulder. I didn’t even have the effort to argue as I slid back and pulled the covers over me.
“You’re coming to.” I stated, looking expectantly at him. He rolled his eyes before climbing in beside me. I curled into him, placing my head on his chest as I wrapped my arms around him. I felt him place his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. After the shit show I’d been through earlier, this was the exact peace I’d been craving. No matter where things went from here, Tony would always be my rock. And I couldn’t ask for anyone better.

How We Got Here
Tumblr media
not my gif
A/N: still working on other stories, but had a dream about this so I had to write it.
Steve Rogers x Reader
Word count: 1.6k
Warning: fluff and angst
You had an itch, a problem per se. You needed everyone to like you.  So you tried really hard. To smile, be happy, be likable.
You never faced a problem of someone not liking you, at least not until recently. Not until you met the one and only Steve Rogers. Or how you liked to call him Mr. Perfect. Perfect in the way he smiles. Perfect in the way he cares. Perfect in the way he is America's golden boy. You two could have been friends. Maybe if the situation was different.
You joined the avengers not so long ago. With your training as an agent and your bad-ass powers of mind-control. You were the best candidate to join the elite superheroes.  Besides all that you had a talent. A talent with technology.
Your obsession began when you accidentally broke your dad’s computer at the age of 12. You were so determined to put it back together before he could find out. In doing so you used some spare parts from your also broken Nintendo console and upgraded his computer.  You were considered a prodigy from that point.
A plan was set for you. You were going to become a computer engineer. With the support of your parents, you continue your studies all through college. And a month before graduation Hydra found you.
They wanted you and they werent going to stop until they had you. Your parents so valiantly fought them. But at the end, they lost the battle and you, well you lost your parents.
Hydra had a hold of you. They experiment on you like crazy. You were going to be their new super weapon. As much as they tried to turn you. You wouldnt let them, you would be their rag doll to use and abuse. You weren’t about to let your parents die in vain for you to become a monster.
What felt like centuries of being locked up were actually a month. A month when Nick Fury came bursting in and saved you.  After a much needed shower and sleep, Fury and you had a chat.
You didnt know how to repay him for what he had done for you, you should have chosen better words than that. Because sooner or later he was asking to train you, use your powers for good. How could you say no to the man who saved you?
Two years of training, Fury took you to meet the Avenger. You arent going to lie, you fangirled hard over them. They were all so welcoming. Even Steve.
Fury made it your new assignment to learn from them, which meant you were going to  be staying in the compound.
It was a lot to get used to. You mostly stayed by Wanda’s side. Occasionally you and Peter would train together. Tony was more of a mentor. And Nat loved playing around with your powers. But Steve and you had never had a chance to interact other than the welcoming party.
You really wanted to be friends with him. There was so much you wanted to say but always bite your tongue when he’s around. A friendship could blossom or better yet could have.
The possibility of a relationship flew out the window when he overheard a conversation you had with Tony one early morning. You wanted to give the compound a technical upgrade. Including everyone suits and equipment. Tony was intrigued, not because he never thought of that because he has, but because of how bold you were.
You had so much faith in your skills and Tony respected that. He agreed to let you mess around with some of the equipment for starters. You were smiling, you were excited like a child who had too much candy and was on a sugar high. But that sugar high came crashing down as soon as Steve made his appearance.
How could you forget the conversation. The way he yelled.
“Excuse you! You can't just come in here and demand for change. Our dynamic works, it has worked for a while. I dont know who you think you are but you dont get to mess with our equipment and you certainly dont get to mess with MY team”
His voice rang throughout the whole compound and the image of his nostrils flaring as he yelled haunted you for weeks.
It still haunts you. You hate being yelled at. Tony told you to ignore him,  that he is too “perfect” for his own good, but even all perfect people have their flaws and his way technology. Hence the name Mr. Perfect.
Tony and the rest of the gang kept encouraging your journey well all except Steve. Your fighting got better and you were proud to say you were finally in control of your power.
It was their pleasure to finally declare you one of them. As you all party Steve stood there scowling. Not even Bucky could wipe that scowl off his face as he had a mouth full of cherries.
You weren’t going to let him get the better of you. If he wanted to be snarky you would be snarky. If he wanted to be cold you would be cold.
That became your new routine. He pushed you, you pushed back harder. From bumps in the hallways to calling him Mr. Perfect every time you can.
The team thought you guys would get over this, that over time you two would learn to get along.  But you were always at each other's throats. Missions become harder and harder when there’s a constant argument.
You werent like this. You knew that but that man was just too infuriating to do nothing about it.
Currently you were on a way back from a mission with Nat. You two were sent to stop a shipment of guns from being delivered. As smoothly as it was going, Steve was on the comms just nagging how it should have been him and Nat out there. You turned off your comms, knowing the earful you are going the get when you arrive back.
As you walked into the kitchen, there was Steve nursing a glass of what seemed to be bourbon and tapping his foot. You knew what was going to happen.
Nat made a B-line for her room, not wanting to hear the argument that's about to go down.
You stood in the middle of the room thinking of all the comebacks you can. Ready to fire at any moment. Steve stood up from his seat and made his way towards you. His jaw was set and his fists were clenched.
He stalked over you and you suddenly felt small.  His stare was burning through you, you have never seen him like this. You looked down at your feet but Steve stopped that movement and he grabbed your chin with his hand forcefully to make you look at him.
With your chin in his hand he had a full view of your face. As he looked at you, his demeanor changed. The tension in his body was gone, the look on his face soften and the force in his hand was replaced with a gentle touch.
“ Who?”, he asked.
You were confused, “ who what?”
“ The bruise under your eye, who did that”, he asked, a little more annoyed this time.
He noticed the bruise? It's so small it doesnt even hurt, you forgot it even happened.
“ Oh, that bruise. The mob boss Sergio showed up. It surprised us and in our state of surprise he sucker punched me in the face and got away. But dont worry we got control of the shipment, we will get him eventually”, you stammer out.
He lets go of your face and takes out his phone. He turns around,  “ Tony, yes it's me. Apparently Sergio, the mob boss got away. I need all focus on him, can you do that? Okay thanks!”
“ What was that”, you surprisingly ask.
His focus goes back to you, “ No one hurts my team and gets away with it”
He turns around to walk away. But stops in his tracks when he hears you murmur, “ You hurt me everyday with your words''
He goes back towards you. “ My words are never meant to hurt you, Y/N,”
“ But they have, since the moment we met.  I let it happen but then I had enough and started to talk back. If one thing I learned from my parents is to always fight back”, you quietly stated. Looking down at your feet shifting weight from one foot to another.
All that energy to fight back was gone. You needed answers.
He grabbed your face, cradling it between his two hands. This time there was no force but it was a touch so soft, so warming, so welcoming.
“ No words can describe how sorry I am. I let my emotion get the better of me.  You joined the team and you were everything I am not. The person I am is thanks to a serum. But you, you have it all. You have the strength, the smarts and the beauty”, he sincerely apologizes.
“ Beauty?” you question looking into his eyes. Using his eyes are filled with what looks like hate, but right now they are filled with something more, could it be love?
“ I dont deserve this but if you allow me”, he asks, leaning closer.
You know what he is asking and you too want it.  The ball is in your court.  You move your body closer to him and he takes that as an indication to smash his lips onto yours.
The kiss starts off rough, like you are in need of each other. But it becomes softer and more passionate. An apology in itself. Both of you cant and wont pull away. You were deprived of each other for so long.
Now you knew, Steve Rogers did like you. Maybe a little more than you would ever imagine.

You Saved Me - Derek Hale x fem!reader part 15
-------------------
Derek and I had taken off after the Kanima on foot. Stiles and Scott followed in his Jeep. We made it to an abandoned parking lot, halting a moment.
“You stay behind and wait for Scott, I’ll follow the scent this way.” He took off over the fence as Stiles and Scott pulled up. Scott got out, and jumped over the fence. I followed behind him down the tunnel.
“Okay! I’ll be here!” I heard Stiles yelled. I caught up to Scott, and we both ran in the direction of hissing and growling.
“Where’s-” He came to a halt and froze. I skidded to a stop as well. Gerard Argent stood there, almost like he had been waiting. Well, there goes my alibi of not being a werewolf, but odds are he already knows. We took off in the opposite direction, eventually finding a boiler room below a nightclub.
“Why the hell is Gerard here?” I panted.
He shook his head, “I have no idea.”
“What do we do now?”  We turned around and yelped. Stiles was standing behind us.
“Sorry, sorry.” He apologized, “Did you see where he went?”
“We lost him.” Scott panted, resting his head against the red brick wall.
“What? You can’t catch his scent?”
“I don’t think he has one.”
I leaned against the wall, “That’s how he gets the jump on us, we can’t smell him coming like any other werewolf.”
“Alright, any clue where he’s going?”
“To kill someone.” Scott narrowed his eyes at Stiles.
“ Ah. That explains the claws, and the fangs, and all that. Good. Makes perfect sense now. “ Stiles’ voice dripped with sarcasm. Scott continued to stare.
“What? Scott, come on. I'm one hundred and forty-seven pounds of pale skin and fragile bone- sarcasm is my only defense!”
I looked him up and down, “You’re only a hundred and forty-seven pounds? We gotta bulk you up for the finals, you’re gonna get killed out there.”
“Not the time for lacrosse advice, (Y/N).”
“Yup, got it.”
“Just help me find it.” Scott said, getting frustrated with our back and forth.
“Not “it”. Jackson.” Stiles corrected.
“Yeah, I know. I-I know.” Scott looked around the corner.
“All right, but does he know that? Did anybody else see him back at your house?” Stiles asked.
“Everyone who knew saw. Lydia missed it though.” I said, trying to hear anything.
“I mean, I don't think so, but he already passed Derek's test anyway.”
“Right, because that test was so accurate.” I smirked.
“But that's just the thing, how did he pass the test?” Stiles asked.
"I don't know." Scott said his favorite sentence. But the fact of the matter is, there were no answers for anything.
“Maybe it's like an either-or thing? I mean, Derek said that a snake can't be poisoned by its own venom, right? When is the Kanima not the Kanima?”
“...When it’s Jackson.” Scott and I said in unison. Stiles’ eyes went wide and his mouth was pressed firmly shut. I followed his gaze and gasped, quickly covering my mouth. Scott followed our gaze, seeing the slimy green tail of the kanima disappear into the attic of the club.
“He’s inside.” Scott said, staring up.
“What's he gonna do in there?” Stiles asked, peaking around my shoulder.
“Well, I don’t think he’s looking for a date.” I said, staring at where the kanima went inside.
"I know who he's after." Scott stared at the window.
"What? How? Did you smell something?" Stiles asked, staring at Scott.
"Armani." Scott stated. We moved around the corner and looked inside the window of the building. The origin of the Armani just happened to be Danny. He was walking towards the entrance of the club, named Jungle.
“Well... At least he’s getting out.” The corner of my mouth twitched up. We walked around to the other side of the club to the back door. Stiles attempted to open the back door, but alas it was locked.
“Ah come on.” Stiles groaned, backing away from the door and looking up, “ Alright, maybe there's, like, a uh-like, a window we could climb through, or some kind of-” Stiles was cut off by Scott ripping the handle off the door and handing it to Stiles.
“...Handle that we could rip off with supernatural strength? How'd I not think of that one?” He threw the handle over his shoulder. Why was this place familiar? We all walked into the club. As we got into the actual club, we stopped. The loud music and lights reminded me of a party from high school. There were four disco balls on the ceiling surrounding one large one in the middle of the room. Beams of colored light were bouncing off the sweaty club goers. There were aerial silk dancers throughout the room, there were also shirtless men dancing on tables. That’s why I recognized the name.
“Dude, everyone in here is a dude! I think we're in a gay club... “ Scott said, astutely observing his surroundings.” We turned back, looking at Stiles who was flocked by two drag queens.
“Man, nothing gets past those keen Werewolf senses, huh, Scott?” Stiles said sarcastically.
We managed to get Stiles away from the queens and over to the bar where we found Danny. But before I could make it there, another drag queen pulled me away from them.
“Miss girl.” She drawled. This queen was all pink. Pink acrylics, pink outfit, large poofy pink wig. Her makeup was very dramatic, but in an aesthetically pleasing way.
“Um... yes?” I cracked a nervous smile.
“Do you know where you are? Because the lesbian night club is a town over.” She pointed towards the door.
“I uh, my brother,” I pointed towards Stiles, “He just came out and was too nervous to come alone.”
“Oh, how sweet.” She said, looking over at Stiles. Stiles looked back at us. The queen smiled and winked, waving dramatically. Stiles smiled back nervously and waved before turning back to the conversation they were having.
“See, he said he wanted to go try to talk to someone alone, but he’s just so skittish.” I put my hands on my chest.
“Well good luck, doll.” She put a hand on my shoulder, “It is the beginning of a long journey.” I smiled, watching the queen walk away. I rushed back over to Stiles. Where he was unsuccessfully trying to get a drink.  "Three beers." Stiles smiled. The bartender stared at us.
“IDs?” We all took out our respective IDs. He stared at them, then back at us.
“How about three cokes?” He asked.
“Rum and Cokes!” Stiles grinned, “Sure.” The bartender looked unamused.
“...Coke's fine, actually. I'm driving, anyway.” Stiles backed down. We turned around and waited, scanning the room.
“Your drinks are paid for.” We looked back at the bartender. He motioned his head to the end of the bar. There was an older man who smiled at us, toasting his beer to us.
“How bi.” I smiled, waving back. Stiles looked at Scott who was trying not to laugh.
“Awh, shut up.” Stiles glared.
“I didn’t say anything.” Scott said innocently.
“Well, your face did.” Stiles sneered, we looked back towards the dancefloor where we saw Danny dancing.
“Hey, I found Danny.” Stiles said.
“I found Jackson.” Scott said. We looked up, watching Jackson stalking the ceiling, twisting and turning through wires. Right above where Danny was dancing.
“Get Danny.” Scott said.
“What are ya gonna do?” Stiles asked as we watched Scott’s claws come out, “Works for me.” We started maneuvering our way towards Danny’s direction.
“Danny!” Stiles shouted over the music. Danny was dancing with a guy, but as we got closer, we lost sight of him.
“Danny!” Stiles called again.  Smoke started coming down from the ceiling. Was there a fire? No, the smell wasn’t the same. That’s when the screaming started. I frantically looked around, trying to find anyone. Soon the smoke cleared, and there was a line of paralyzed men on the floor, Danny being one of them.  “Danny!” I called. The music was shut down and the lights had come back on. I went down on my knees to check if he was breathing. He was looking around, fear in his eyes.
“(Y/N)?” He asked, his voice trembled.
“That’s right, Māhealani. I’m right here.” I smiled.
“What are you doing here?”
“Uhhh..” I looked around, “Stiles was questioning but... I think after tonight he’s gotten his answer.” I lied.
-
After questioning Danny, Scott made his way back to the jeep. I was sitting in the back, looking back at a very naked Jackson who they had found in the back of the club; naked and covered in blood and black goo.
“Couldn't get anything outta Danny." He said.
“Okay, can we just get the hell out of here now, before one of my dad's deputies sees me?” Stiles said anxiously. Stiles started the Jeep, but a police cruiser pulled in front of the Jeep, keeping us from our escape.
“...Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Could this get any worse?” Stiles groaned. Suddenly, Jackson groaned and sat up.
“That was rhetorical!” Stiles sighed. We turned back towards the cop car. Scott pointed to the car, “Get rid of him.”
“Get rid of him? We're at a crime scene, and he's the Sheriff!” Stiles said anxiously.
“Shit.” I ducked down, realizing that if Uncle Noah saw me, it was going to be even more awkward.
“Do something!” Scott motioned with his arms. Stiles fumbled with the door handle and got out.
Jackson sat up in the back, “Wha-...What’s going on?” I pushed him back down.
“Jackson. Jackson, be quiet.” Scott said urgently. He looked towards Stiles, then back to me.
“Why didn’t you get out with Stiles?”
“We’re not attached at the hip, ya know.” I avoided the question.
“You know what I mean.”
I sighed, chewing on the inside of my cheek, “I got into a fight with his dad. I told him that he wasn’t my dad and to stop acting like it.”
“A little harsh.” He titled his head.
“I am aware of that-” Jackson tried to sit up again.
“What’s going on?” He groaned, holding his head.
“I’m sorry, Jackson.”  He punched Jackson in the jaw, sending him back down.
“Ow.” Scott winced, waving his hand.
“Don’t be sorry. I’ve been wanting to do that this entire year.” I grinned, a little impressed.
Stiles came back shortly, not saying a word as he started Roscoe and drove out of the parking lot.
“What’d you tell him?” I asked, leaning between the seats.
“I told him we took Danny clubbing because of Damon.” He sighed.
“Excellent.”
-
Stiles and Scott dropped me off at Scott’s house so I could get to my car and drive it back to the railroad depot. I needed to talk to Derek about what had happened tonight, if he missed it that was. He seemed to disappear after we split up.
I need to apologize. But he also needed to explain himself. What if he had gotten to Lydia that night and killed her, what did he think I would do, accept that, especially since he was wrong? I got inside, I went up to Derek’s room. He was lounging on his bed, looking at the photos. He looked up from the photos, avoiding my gaze.
“Derek, I’m sorry that I was trying to distract you... But I didn’t know what else I could do to stop you from killing Lydia.” I walked in, sitting on the edge of the bed, “I don’t know why she failed your test either, she must be... I don’t know, immune or something else that is immune.”
“You’re right, okay? I should have trusted your instincts.” He said, setting the pictures on the bed in front of him. I moved closer, looking at them again. He had the pictures of us together. There were three teens in the picture. Me, another girl, and Derek. She had long, dark brown hair, kind brown eyes with a very distinct beauty mark under her right eye. Flashes of her face filled my mind, smiling, laughing.
“Wait... Do I know her?” I picked up the picture, “I do know her.... That’s Paige.” Derek’s emotions rose higher: guilt and sadness. Looking back at him, I saw his face. He looked so broken.
“Derek, what’s wrong? Did something happen to Paige?” I asked. He leaned back against the wall.
“You were friends. She was my girlfriend.” He sighed, “She was bitten by another alpha. And she was rejecting the change. I killed her to put her out of her misery.”
“Der...” I reached out, putting a hand on his knee. Derek sat up quickly, moving the pictures onto a box next to his bed. He pulled me closer, hugging me close to him. He rested his head against my shoulder, breathing deeply. I sighed, lightly brushing my fingers over his knuckles. Derek was followed by tragedy, plagued by guilt and fear.
“I’m sorry.” I whispered.
“It’s fine, you didn’t remember.”
“Not about Paige, about everything. I just wished I could remember so I could help you more. It isn’t fair that you’re going through all of this by yourself.”
“I’m not alone.” He picked his head up off my shoulder. He brought his hand up, turning my head so I could see his eyes, “I have you. And that’s all I need.” My lips pulled up in a smile, turning so I was kneeling between his legs.
“I love you.” The words fell off my lips like they had always been there.
He grinned, “I love you.” His lips brushed against mine with every syllable. He pressed his lips to mine.

POST MSQ Endwalker flailings under the cut
SPOILERS
SPOILERS
SPOILERS
so.
That was certainly an Expansion huh?
I knew everything would be fine, I knew they wouldn’t let this world they created be destroyed. It seemed so outside of their design scope to do so. But at the same time, every now and then I remembered that hey, they did it once... what if?
By the same token I felt fairly secure throughout the journey that our friends would be OK. Ishikawa doesn’t dole out cruelty for cruelty's sake with character death.
Once reaching endgame and suddenly without fanfare loosing Thancred I thought, nah, no way we’d loose him forever just like that. and I kept telling myself this as they left us one by one.
Tumblr media
Queue Y’shtola being an absolute badass. Misto loves his Miqo’te family in the Scions
I think it was my old fear of loosing G’raha in Shadowbringers that started me crying. That what if, what if...?
Tumblr media
Then he goes and gets me right in one of my weaknesses by empathising with a machine and I just lost it.
Tumblr media
I knew the twins were going to leave then too. I knew it was coming and I was dreading it and having to keep telling myself we’re obviously going to get them back, there’s nothing to worry about. But man I love those kids and the writers know I love those kids.
and then this man comes in
Tumblr media
This man comes in and freaking ruins me with his god damn face journeys of love for WoL and god damnit you sad Xemnas looking mfer how dare you make me love you so damn much??? I was a sobbing mess throughout.
I am weak for a story about love. So bloody weak when it is love that defeats the threat in the end. The trope of “Kill everyone to spare them from suffering” is the thing that has existed before, I don’t care, it’s pulled off with love and with grace. No one can tell me we didn’t pull Meteion into a hug and tell her it’s going to be ok, that she can exist outside of suffering and loss and despair.
Tumblr media
In the end I’m still juggling ideas about how to make Misto fit as a WoL. There were many times throughout the story that I was thinking about other peoples WoLs and how things happening fit their themes and their characters in an affectionate way.
I do know that I am very into my Blue boy and how his colouring has worked thematically. How the game keeps coming back to water and oceans which he is interconnected with. I’m still tempted to have Omega be part of his team which is fun to think about with their creators showing up.
Tumblr media
Of coarse I can’t end without mentioning Hyth-of-the-gender-goals being so pretty and an absolute delight. Yes. Very much in the Amarotine Power Trio love pile.
Tumblr media
And I can’t leave out Venat, who won me over despite my cynicism going in. Speaking of making me cry I love that this series allows for a second time for you to call out to someone you care about by their name, possibly for the first time in hundreds of years of them being referred to only as a title, as a role they have put themselves into for the greater good, that you can call out to them as the person they have always been and they give you this look and it breaks my heart every damn time.
Boy was this an expansion.

overview:
you’ve entered your first door. listen closely, you are to meet someone here. at the end of the hall, there are two doors. choose wisely, both will unlock the doors to chapter two but will have different progressions…
𝐎𝐧𝐞 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞
“Madam Loiselle—”
You halted your steps, worriedly staring at your old vampire companion as she ran around the room. She looked panicked yet she had a big smile on her face. Very unlikely of her to be smiling at seven am in the morning. “Madam Loiselle!” you called when she suddenly disappeared from thin air. You hate it when they would suddenly disappear like that. They and their abilities irritate you at times. You would either be left having your proprioception heightened or screaming in the middle of the woods when they would just decide to pop up behind you.
You should probably be used to this by now.
You’ve been with them for thirteen years.
“Mada—”
“y/n!”
“Fuck!” you immediately covered your mouth upon turning around to face Charmaine who had her hands on her hips and her eyes narrowed. “M-My apologies…”
“Your mouth needs some discipline. Now, why are you blabbering my name as if you’re being killed?” she asked with a huff, her arms crossing across her chest. You scratched your cheek in disquietude as you sucked in your bottom lip. “I just wanna ask why you’re running around the house…"
"Oh.” She exhaled, taking a hair tie and tying her hair up in a neat bun. “Well, I’m preparing your stuff.”
“For what?” You tilted your head in confusion as you eyed her form who walked past you. To your surprise, there were now three bags full of your clothes and necessities. “For school,” she replied.
“School?”
“Night Raven College. You’re enrolled.”
“Enrolled?”
“y/n, how dense are you to keep asking questions and just stand there while I do everything myself?” She grabbed her newspaper and smacked your head with it.
“Sorry…” you trailed off with a wince, rubbing your head before kneeling next to your bed as you tried to help Charmaine with your belongings. You asked, “Madam Loiselle…can you please explain what’s going on? What’s with the masquerade that happened last week? What’s with Night Raven College?” You took your chance and looked over at your caregiver. “I feel lost…”
Charmaine sighed. What’s going on in her mind, you wonder. Charmaine is someone who’s secretive with her emotions. Aren’t all vampires like that, no? She sat down on the bed and patted the spot beside her to gesture you to sit. You obliged, watching her take out an envelope from the drawer.
“What’s going on is not for me to answer, y/n. What’s with the masquerade last week was…” She paused and exhaled deeply. She looked hesitant to answer. She proceeded, “Well, you were chosen.”
“Chosen for what?”
“You’ll find out. The masquerade was an event held by three princes. Two of them are elder vampires and one is a fledgeling. The reason you were invited was because of your species.”
“A sacrifice? Is that what humans are to them now?” you grumbled while sucking in your lower lip. “Honey, no.” You looked over at Charmaine in surprise. She held, what you assumed to be, a gentle expression on her face. “Let me finish.”
“That event happens every year. Every time a human turns eighteen on the day the masquerade took place, they are automatically invited to His Highness’ place. They needed to pick someone. And you…” She looked at you. She held your hand and opened your palm, giving you the letter that you have to open soon. Your heartbeat was starting to speed up. You felt nervous.
“You were chosen. And I have to let you go…”
“Mama, why–”
“It’s Madam Loiselle for you, y/n,” came her stern voice. Your conflicted eyes stared into her red ones. Was she going to let you go? “M-Madam Loiselle… I just have to go to school right? I-I just have to be with them for a couple of years?”
You hoped, wished, the answer was yes. Yet she gave you no answer. She looked away and stood up. “You leave tomorrow. His Highness, Schoenheit, will explain everything to you once you arrive. Remember what I taught you. Do not forget my teachings.”
“The school contains other creatures you haven’t encountered. You may or may not be the only human to walk along those halls. Be prepared.”
“Mama–!”
“Move, y/n. Pack your bags. The carriage is coming soon.” She pulled on your arms and nudged you over to fix your stuff.
You still had questions unanswered.
Conflicted and in pain, you followed her orders. Moving swiftly to pack up your bags and prepare an attire for your journey. Charmaine remained quiet throughout the whole preparation. Are you to say goodbye to her and the cottage you grew up in? Are you going to see her again?
Are you still going to be around humans again and live the life you wanted away from the immortal?
It rung.
Are you still going to be around humans again and live the life you wanted away from the immortal?
Tumblr media
You laid your head against the glass of the carriage. Eyes swollen and damped, evident that you’ve just cried your eyes out. The passing of trees was all you could see along with the bright shine of the moon’s reflection from the sun. The galloping of the horses echoed through your ears, somehow soothing you while you think about how your life will take a sudden turn the moment you step foot out of the carriage.
In your hand, you still held the acceptance letter Charmaine gave you. You haven’t opened it. It scared you to think that the letter already wrote out your whole life. Overthinking, yes, but what can you do? You’re out of the safety of your home and from your guardian’s arms. Where can you head to when danger strikes during your journey?
You sniffled and sat up. You observed the wax seal that sealed the envelope. It was a beautiful shade of purple with the engraved accent painted in gold. It was aristocratic. Screams superiority just by glancing at it. Hesitantly, you carefully opened the envelope and pulled out the letter. The paper wasn’t the common white one everyone would use. It was cream and sturdy. It was folded neatly, too. You carefully read the printed text:
      Congratulations!
On behalf of Night Raven College, I am happy to congratulate you on y/n’s acceptance into our prestigious high-school. Our school has one of the most exclusive programs in the country, and we only accept the very best students into our programs. We thoroughly believe that they will do exceptionally well and that they will be a great addition to our school. To complete the enrollment process, please read the attached letter.
And it just ended there. Following what you have read, you looked back inside the envelope to see another cream paper. Except this one was handwritten in beautiful cursive, You leaned back on your seat and read the second letter. Your heart was steadily beating, however, you could feel it pulsating on your fingers as your eyes scanned over the words:
     Dear Mortal,
I am pleased to inform you that you have been chosen to live with Their Highnesses following your acceptance at Night Raven College. Please take into consideration that you are required to oblige to their orders. This is an opportunity no other mortals could gain. No worries as your food, shelter, and other necessities are tended to. All is required is that you bring yourself in a healthy state and untouched by other vampires or immortals.
You will be greeted by His Highness, Rook Hunt, upon your arrival at the gates of the mansion. It is their responsibility to bring you alongside them to your transport to the college. We shall await your arrival in two days.
Sincerely,
There was nothing written to let you know who the sender was. Not like that was needed. You are to live with higher ranking vampires. Those of the nobility and probably the most powerful and intelligent of them all. Who is this Rook Hunt? Schoenheit?
Then again, was that man back in the masquerade the same person – well, vampire – you were going to meet?
This carriage ride is long. You couldn’t sit still after reading that letter nor can you stabilize your thoughts. How are you not a sacrifice, y/n? Those words in those letters already scream sacrifice to you. You are to feed them with your blood and body. You took deep and shaky breaths as you looked back out the window. Trees, trees, and all you could see are trees.
Nonstop darkness of nature clouded your vision. As well as some figure that dashed past your vision just in front of the window.
Huh?
You blinked and immediately moved closer to the window. Your eyes frantically looking outside for any sign of the figure you just saw. It was just a blur. If it’s a werewolf, then please, you plea to be unseen. Nothing. There was nothing. You guessed you were just being delirious. Imagining things can fuck up someone’s mind, no?
“Halt!”
You yelp the moment the horses skidded on their hooves. You were able to keep yourself steady on your seat as you breathed out. Have you arrived? You gulped and looked back out the window, it was still trees as far as your eyes could see. No light, no mansion, just a figure by the horses. Ah, damn it.
Curious, you pushed open the carriage door and walked out. Can you believe what you see? The darkness you see was brought to you by a mansion – castle? Palace? – towering over you. You were breath taken. Your throat felt dry as you stared at whoever’s home this is. You have arrived, y/n.
“Ah, it’s nice to see you again, mon chou.”
You stopped gazing at the luxurious home to look at where you heard the voice. Nowhere. No one. You furrowed your eyebrows and quickly held the door. Mon chou. It’s him again. You gulped and wearily looked around. Vampires do love playing their little games around mortals, don’t they. “Mon chou, you’ve been scared ever since our first meeting last week!” he called and you looked behind you. Still none.
“Who are you?!” you yelled and gripped the carriage door tighter, ready to run inside even if it’s barely going to give you any safety.
“J-Just show yourself!” you yelled once again, starting to pant as you felt your heart pump more blood into your body, heightening your senses even more.
Silence. Minutes of excruciating silence that brought you nothing but fear and worry. You wanted to run away, but where will you go? Facing the mansion once more, you noticed that the horses are quiet. There weren’t neighing. Please, if they’re also dead creatures, then you’re dead meat. You cautiously moved towards the front of the carriage and just as you suspected, the horses were skeletons.
Fucking skeletons, y/n.
You rubbed your face and stomped your feet. “Madam Loiselle for fuck’s sake bring me back home!!!” you screamed, not caring if anyone heard you. You wanted to be back to Charmaine’s arms again. You wanted to be under your blankets, reading books by the fireplace, cooking some soup, hell live a Snow White life – without the poisoning or dwarves – for all you care. This place isn’t for you.
“My, my, that’s quite vulgar, y/n,” he whispered into your ear as his cold body stood behind you. His arm snaking around your waist, tightly gripping you as you stood frozen. “Mhmm…” he hummed and chuckled.
“Look at that gorgeous expression. The evident fear in your eyes, the way your body is shaking, ah, mon chou. You’re shaking me to the core. Makes me want to devour you,” he said. You could feel his lips against your ear. His broad chest pressing against your back as you felt your blood run cold. y/n, this is your chance.
You will…
a.) punch him in the face
b.) give a snarky remark
The Door To Chapter Two Is Now Unlocked.

Chapter 10: The Secluded Sage (con’t)
Everyone pulled out torches from within the convoy.
Because they did not want to have too much luggage, they’d prepared as few supplies as possible. Their thought was that it would be best to stock up on what they lacked in towns along the way, but that plan had now backfired.
Still, a little was better than nothing. A few soldiers grabbed the torches they had, and were tasked with maintaining a consistent field of vision.
The dim light shone throughout the fort and revealed the disgusting sight of vines snaking up its crumbling walls.
‘If only we had just a few more torches….’ As if someone had read Eirika’s thoughts, a bright light suddenly shone from behind her.
She whirled around in surprise, and was blinded. When she raised a hand over her eyes, she was able to confirm that the light was shining from the tip of Natasha’s staff.
“I apologize for surprising you…”
“Natasha, what is that staff…?”
“I thought maybe it might be helpful… Um, is it perhaps bothering you?”
“No, on the contrary, it’s very useful!”
It was a much appreciated staff that made up completely for their lack of torches. Because Natasha couldn’t go out on the front, it was decided that she would light up the rear line, and the army ventured inside of the fort.
The inside looked exactly as they’d predicted. While it had been originally built to fight against monsters, ironically, now it was a monster den.
Ewan darted around while shouting, “Whoa… it wasn’t like this in here when I explored it at all! It was totally empty and abandoned… How could this have happened in so little time!?”
“Ewan!” Tethys had heard what he was saying and ran up to him. She looked terrified, and grabbed his arm. “What are you doing!? You know it's dangerous to be out this far on the front, right!? Stay with me on the rear line…"
"I’m going to fight! I want to show everyone the magic my teacher taught me!”
“You can’t! It’s still too dangerous!”
“No it’s not! Just watch me, Big Sister!”
“Can’t you hear what I’m telling you? When did you turn into such a bad child? If anything ever happened to you, I…”
Tumblr media
Tethys buried her face in her hands, and her shoulders started shaking. Any observer would know that she was faking it, but Ewan took her very seriously.
He was horrified, and hugged her tightly. “I’m sorry, Big Sister! I understand. I’ll do as you say. I’ll stay on the rear line with you.”
Ewan guarded Tethys, who was still pretending to cry, as they retreated to the rear line.
Eirika was surprised at this unexpected side of Tethys. When she was with Gerik, she seemed so carefree. She didn’t seem like the type to be so concerned about family, but she completely spoiled her little brother.
Gerik saw her expression, and laughed. “You look surprised. Didn’t think she was so kind… did ya?”
“No, that’s not it…”
“You don’t have to be polite. I was taken aback the first time I saw her like this, too. It felt like the woman I’d seen dancing at the bar was a different person. It seems that they lost both of their parents very suddenly, and were living all on their own. Ewan’s all the family she has left.”
“Really?”
The young sister and brother, surviving by protecting one another, had no doubt struggled through a lot together. She must have worked so hard to develop her exceptional dancing skills so that she could raise him. And perhaps he’d decided to study magic at such a young age because he wanted, from the very bottom of his heart, to help out his sister however he could.
Eirika was silent, so Gerik worriedly whispered to her, “Hey, don’t look so sad! Tethys’ll rip me a new one if she figures out that I blabbed about her tragic past! She hates it most of all when people pity her.”
“I understand. I’ll pretend I didn’t hear anything.”
The battle had already begun on the front line. The nauseating and rotten smell of the monsters was all around them, and the monsters’ shrieking cries of death pierced their ears. Eirika and Gerik both withdrew their swords and started slicing up the monsters coming towards them.
The group nesting here at this fort was far stronger than that in the Za’ha Forest.
This time, even Gargoyles, a pure black, winged creature, was among them. They wielded iron weapons likely stolen from people they’d previously fought with, and attacked at terrifying speeds.
As Eirika had expected, both Lute and Artur played a huge role in this battle. They rushed around to back up all the soldiers who were having difficulty fighting. The effects of Artur’s light magic were particularly great. He defeated almost all of the monsters he fought with one spell.
“Lady Eirika, I have troubling news!” Franz, who'd been fighting on the front line, rushed up to her in a panic.
'No… is someone injured?' Eirika wondered, but that was not it.
“There appear to be people inside of this building!”
“People…?”
"Yes. They are blocked off from us by monsters and we cannot get close, but we can hear their voices. They seem to be travelers who lost their way and were then attacked...”
"Understood. Let's make saving them our top priority."
When Eirika went in the direction Franz had told her, she also heard voices.
"Aaaaargh! There's no end to these monsters! What in the world happened to this fort!?"
“Please rest, Lady L’Arachel! I’ll take care of them from here!”
“No, Dozla. I will not be the only one to save myself from this danger! This is yet another trial sent to me by the gods!”
The voices were ones that Eirika did not expect, but remembered hearing before, causing her to stop in her tracks.
They belonged to a very odd lady and her retainer.
‘That’s right, she said she was going to take the land route to Rausten.’ She must have chosen to take the same route through the mountains as Eirika’s army.
L’Arachel sounded annoyed, but also like she still had strength to spare. Eirika and her army followed their voices as they cut down the monsters.
L’Arachel and Dozla were fighting in a small room, though it was more accurate to say that Dozla was the only one in direct combat with the monsters. L’Arachel rushed around behind him, waving her staff around. She seemed to be the same as Natasha, a healer who only knew how to wield staves.
They were one person short, so Eirika couldn’t help but wonder if Rennac had been killed. This made her even more worried, and she shouted out, “Miss L’Arachel! Are you alright!?”
“Oh my, that voice…? Aren’t you the person from the other day? So we meet again! We seem to be bound by fate!”
“Please retreat to a safe place! We’ll take it from here…!”
“Oh, you have no reason to be that worried! We are still on our journey to cast judgement upon all monsters! This lot is no trouble at all! Now see how magnificently we fight!”
“Miss L’Arachel, there are injured people on the rear line. If possible, I’d like you to please use your staff to heal them. They need you.”
Eirika’s plea immediately got through to L’Arachel. She cheered up and rushed straight to the back line, allowing Eirika to fight without worry.
L’Arachel’s companion Dozla was exactly as strong as one would imagine he was at the sight of his hulking body. He swung around a huge battle axe that any normal person would have trouble lifting with ease, and sliced through each and every monster with all his strength. He could even shrug off minor attacks with his muscles of steel, and took little damage from them. He was truly a warrior to be feared.
The fog slowly thinned out as they fought, so the battle did not go on for long.
L’Arachel played a huge role in caring for the injured. She was a bit rough compared to Natasha, and even yelled at them a few times, but aside from that, her healing abilities were the real deal.
When the battle was over, Eirika sheathed her sword and called over to L’Arachel. “Thank you, Miss L’Arachel.”
“You can just call me L’Arachel… Um…” She tried to call Eirika by name, but cut her words short and tilted her head to the side. “Oh dear, now that I think about it, I haven’t asked you for your name yet. What is it?”
Eirika laughed. It already seemed like L’Arachel was an acquaintance, so it was strange that she didn’t even know her name yet.
In a case like this, Eirika always used the alias “Eilis the Mercenary,” but she didn’t want to lie to these two, so she didn’t feel the need to do that. “My name is Eirika.”
Seth looked like he wanted to say something, but Eirika cut him off. “It’s okay, Seth. These two aren’t bad people. I don’t think we have to hide anything from them.”
L’Arachel stared straight at Eirika for a moment, then whispered, “I’ve been told that the princess of Renais’ name is Eirika! And that after the palace fell, she fled to Frelia, has been fighting ever since, and…”
“Yes. That is me.”
“Oh my, you’re the princess of Renais!? That is only logical. I knew all along that you were someone very refined. Didn’t you think so too, Dozla?”
“I did indeed think the exact same thing, Lady L’Arachel!”
“It is an honor to meet you! When I heard of another princess like I, traveling to each country while battling the evil rampaging the world, I wanted to meet her at least once!” L’Arachel took Eirika’s hands in her own, and squeezed them tightly.
“N-Not at all. I didn’t necessarily start traveling for that reason…”
“And we even got lost on the same rugged mountain, bringing us even closer together!"
It seemed that L'Arachel hadn't planned to climb the mountain, rather, she'd simply gotten lost. No ordinary person would climb such a steep mountain simply because they'd gone the wrong way.
"No, we didn't get lost. Actually…"
Eirika told her everything that had happened since they split up in Carcino, including Carcino’s betrayal, Pablo's surprise attack, the battle at the previous fort, and the village Ewan had told them about, Caer Pelyn.
L'Arachel was deeply interested in the story from start to finish, and when Eirika was done talking, she said with conviction, "We were guided to meet here by fate! Please let us go with you, Eirika."
"Huh…?" Eirika had no idea what to say to the enthusiastic L'Arachel, and simply stared at her.
She'd seen L'Arachel and Dozla's abilities in action firsthand during the last battle, leading Eirika to very much want them to lend her their strength. However, they had no connection to neither Renais nor Frelia, and did not seem to be victims of Grado's violence, either. They were different from Eirika and her army, and had no reason to go on a dangerous journey.
L'Arachel noticed Eirika’s sigh, then pleaded passionately, "Please consider it! We're on completely different journeys, yet have met three times already! It is no coincidence! It is our fate to fight together!"
“But as I just explained to you, Miss L’Arachel, we are being pursued by both the Grado Army, and now Pablo’s men. If you travel with us, I can’t even imagine just how much danger you’ll be put in…”
“Ha, do you think I fear danger? Since the day I decided to devote myself to the extermination of all monsters, I have been ready for anything! No matter how dangerous it is, everything is a trial sent to me by the gods. Helping you is a duty they have bestowed upon me!”
“I… I see…”
As someone who was not a very devout religious believer, she couldn’t understand what L’Arachel’s excitement was about at all, but it moved Dozla to tears, which he wiped away with his giant fists.
And that is how it was decided that L’Arachel and Dozla would travel with Eirika’s army.
Eirika then asked about something that had concerned her since she first saw them in the fort.
“There was someone else traveling with you, correct? I believe you called him Rennac…”
“Yes. We lost him.” L’Arachel shook her head in disappointment. “He has no sense of direction, so he must have gone down the wrong path. It’s such a shame…”
She was completely blind to the fact that she herself had gotten lost. But knowing that he hadn’t been killed by a monster gave Eirika a sense of relief. “I hope you’ll be able to meet back up with him soon.”
“I really hope so too! It’s very inconvenient not to have him with us. He may be lazy, but because he’s greedy, if there’s a reward in it for him, then he’s excited to do anything. He’s as adept with his hands and as cunning as a thief, so he’s been very helpful to me…”
L’Arachel clearly had no qualms about speaking her mind. Although Eirika felt bad for Rennac, she didn’t feel that L’Arachel meant any harm, so it made her smile. “How do you three all know each other? Dozla seems to be devoted to serving you, but…”
“Yes, you are right. I am actually…”
“Lady L’Arachel!” Dozla placed one of his short fingers on his lips, signaling to her not to tell.
“But I’ve already become allies with Eirika! She is a kindred spirit, fighting to rid the world of evil, and bring peace! I’m sure everything will be fine if I tell her…”
“Do you forget what the bard Saga said? According to him…” Dozla whispered something in her ear.
L’Arachel nodded deeply in agreement. “You’re right. The truth is a secret that I cannot speak of casually, even to my allies… And that is much sweeter in times such as these! Thank you for reminding me, Dozla!”
“‘Tis nothing, Milady!”
“And that’s the situation, Eirika. I am an envoy of justice sent by the gods to exterminate evil, Dozla is my faithful servant, and.... Rennac is a lazy, greedy employee of mine… please accept that for now.”
“I will… I suppose…” She was probably in a position where she did not want to tell anyone. Eirika decided not to question L’Arachel any further.
-
Eirika’s army quickly left the fort, and headed for the sage Saleh’s house.
The remaining path was as steep as it had been the entire way up, but the fog had cleared. They no longer had to worry about not knowing what might be under their feet, so they were able to climb faster than before.
They arrived at Ewan's teacher's house before sunset. It was a simple house hidden among the trees on the mountainside.
Ewan ran in excitedly and slammed the door open without knocking. “Good afternoon, Teacher!” He seemed to always be this energetic, no matter the situation. However, no one answered.
Eirika peeked in from behind him. The only furniture inside was a small desk and a bed. His teacher seemed to live a simple life.
And, as far as she could tell, he had left without locking the door. It was unlikely that any thieves were ever in the area, and even if a bandit did get in, there wasn't a single thing they could take, so there was really no need to do so.
Ewan turned around with a disappointed look on his face. "I think he's out."
"Perhaps he's close by? We can wait here, in case he might come back soon…"
"Hmmmmm… I dunno. He travels a lot."
"He travels a lot!?" Colm exclaimed so loudly that his voice echoed through the house. He continued on, shouting at Ewan, who drooped his head, “We worked our butts off climbing all the way up here, and he’s out on a trip!? Give me a break! You can lead us the rest of the way on your own, right!?”
“I do know the road, but… I won’t be able to convince the people of the village on my own…”
“So we won’t be able to get through to them? Then what are we gonna do? Come back the way we came?”
“I’m sorry…”
“You sure talked big, but you just made a fool of us all! Seriously, after all this, he’s not here…!?”
“Colm!” Neimi nudged him.
While it got him to stop yelling, he still looked very displeased.
Ewan was so sad and dejected that it was nearly impossible not to feel pity for him.
Tethys said kindly to Colm, “I’m so sorry. He was just trying his hardest to help everyone… He’s always been treated like a child, so he wanted to do something all by himself, but instead, he made things more difficult for everyone. I don’t know what to say…”
“No… it’s okay. I didn’t really mean to attack him… Not even a little! I swear! I-I mean, it’s nice to go mountain climbing every once in a while, right?” When the bewitching Tethys apologized to him, Colm completely lost the last of his composure, even forcing a smile that was entirely unlike him.
Neimi still looked sad, so she didn’t seem to notice at all.
Eirika comforted the disheartened Ewan. “It’s too bad, but there’s nothing we can do about it. It wasn’t your fault, so please don’t look so sad. For now, let’s talk to everyone about what we’re going to do next…”
He looked up at her, tears in his eyes. But when his eyes darted past her, he gasped. “Teacher! Yay, you came back!”
“I told you not to come here, remember? I’m usually out.” A man appeared and scolded him in a harsh tone.
Eirika turned around and was so surprised that she couldn’t respond immediately, because she had seen Ewan’s teacher before.
The man did not notice her, instead trying to go around Ewan and enter his house. “I will leave again soon. If you want to master magic, then please find another teacher.”
“Um…”
When Eirika started to talk to him, he turned around with a stern look still on his face. He seemed to remember her as well, as he looked like he was trying to remember something.
“We met before. In the border town Serafew… You were looking for a lost child, if I remember correctly.”
“Yes.”
He seemed to remember now, as he was nodding his head. She wanted to ask him if he’d found the child, but he didn’t seem to be in the mood for casual conversation.
He was probably still very young, but had a calm composure that did not fit someone of that age. To Eirika’s eyes, used to seeing unusual mages like Lute, he seemed to have a much more mysterious aura, one that most anyone would expect from a mage.
‘So this is the sage Saleh.’ For Innes to have known his name, he must possess such great power that even Frelia’s spies could not ignore gathering intel on him.
But Ewan clung to his teacher. He completely disobeyed what Saleh had told him to do, and said in his same tone as always, “So, uh, um, Teacher! All of these people want to cross the mountain to reach the country on the other side. So I decided to take them to Caer Pelyn! I can get there okay on my own, but I think it would be even better if you were with us!”
Judging by how disappointed Ewan had been before, it hadn’t seemed that he was confident he would be able to guide them the rest of the way. But now, he sounded completely confident in himself.
Eirika thought that Saleh’s response would confirm he was a grouchy person, but contrary to her expectations, he nodded immediately. “That should be fine. I was about to return there myself. You can all come with me.”
“Really? It’s okay!?” Ewan asked without thinking.
Saleh replied bluntly, “We do not aim to keep outsiders from getting in. People simply do not try to interact with us. However, the sun is already setting. Let’s rest here for the night, then depart once it is light out.”
“He’s right.” Innes nodded. “Everyone is tired. And if a large horde of monsters like the one we just fought appeared, then there would be nothing we could do. It would be best for us to rest and focus on keeping our morale up.”
Everyone followed his suggestion, and it was decided that the soldiers would camp around Saleh’s house for the night.
While the soldiers were setting up their tents, Ewan said, "Should I go ahead and explain everything to the elder? If we suddenly show up with a group this big, we'll probably surprise everyone in the village."
"But it's already getting dark, Ewan…” Eirika tried to stop him, however, the speedy boy had already run off. He turned around once, said, "I'll be fine!" with a wave, and soon disappeared between the trees.
"Grrr, he's so naughty.. !" Tethys was worried, and tried to run after him.
But Saleh said, "Ewan knows these roads very well. You should let him go."
Tethys still looked concerned, so Innes said, "It’s not that I don't understand how much he wants to help. He cannot fight so well on the battlefield yet, so he wants to make up for it in other ways."
Ewan had teased him the entire way up the mountain, putting him in a bad mood the whole time. For him to say that he understood how Ewan felt was unexpected.
But Eirika put herself in Prince Innes shoes and imagined how he felt. He was proud enough for two people, and hated losing. He probably hated the memories of whenever someone took him lightly as a child.
The soldiers had removed their armor, and quickly set up camp. Now, those on cooking duty were making a hot meal, and those who were hungry hovered around the pot. Their grueling climb up the mountain became a funny story, and the entire area was filled with cheerful laughter.
When it came time to sit in a circle around the campfire, as they always did after dinner, everyone was far too tired. They all decided to quickly retire for the night.
-
Eirika’s army set out early the next morning. At almost the exact moment that the sun began to rise, Saleh came out of his house, ready to start moving.
When he saw Eirika's army was still fast asleep, he frowned. The soldiers on guard duty all shook everyone awake in a panic. The commotion also caused Eirika, sleeping in the same tent as Tana, to awaken.
"Wow, mages sure get up really early. Oh, but Lute usually sleeps in. I guess that means there's mages of all types?" Tana grumbled, still sleepy.
Because Saleh was the one who would guide them to their next destination, they had no choice but to go with him. Everyone was still rubbing sleep out of their eyes when they started following Saleh further up the mountain.
Before they had even made any progress, Colm suddenly yelled, "Hey, something's coming this way! But it's not a pegasus. Its wings sound much stronger than that."
Eirika looked up. She saw three shadows in the sky. "Are they…?"
The shadows gradually became larger and larger, until everyone could tell what they were.
Seth whispered, "Dragons! I can't believe it… They’re imperial dragon knights…”
The knights atop the dragons were undoubtedly dressed in the empire’s colors. They were both more powerful than pegasus knights, and harder to damage. It was likely that they had been flying around the area to search for Eirika’s army.
They’d decided to climb the mountain to avoid any enemies, but had been found even in a place like this.
The group only seemed to consist of the three knights. No matter how strong they were, it was far too reckless for just three knights alone to take on Eirika’s entire army. It was too difficult for her to judge what their true intentions were, so all she could do was stare at them as they approached her.
The dragons quickly descended. Seth stood in front of Eirika to guard her.
The knight leading the other two jumped down from his mount, then glared at Seth with a stern look on his face.
He was a young man with bright blond hair and a strong, masculine face.
The moment she could make out his face clearly, Eirika gasped. “General Glen? It is you, isn’t it!? Everyone, I’ve met him in the Grado capital before…!”
The young man nodded lightly, the stern expression still on his face.
She had met him before, however, it was only once during a trip to Grado’s capital city. He sometimes passed by when Eirika and Ephraim were chatting with Prince Lyon, but one day, Lyon called him over, and introduced him to the twins.
-
Glen had a very serious personality, and it showed in his greeting to them. Ephraim tried to joke with him, but Glen, standing at attention, did not even smile. That amused Ephraim all the more, etching the event into Eirika's memory.
He wasn’t very sociable, but politely answered a few questions she had about dragons. His manner of speaking was very boorish, but within his voice seemed to be hiding a very kind personality, so Eirika liked him.
When Glen left, Lyon whispered a secret to Eirika and Ephraim. “He’s really strong, and works very hard. If I was as tough as him, I’m sure I would enjoy combat training too, but...”
-
When Eirika remembered how Lyon felt about his frail body, she still didn’t know what to say.
Ephraim’s teacher General Duessel had also considered Glen like a son, and praised him as one of the youths who were Grado’s future. At that time, Ephraim was bitter that General Duessel would tell him his spearmanship couldn’t yet compete with Glen’s, and declared Glen his rival. When Ephraim told them he would kill Glen one day in a fit of rage, both Lyon and Eirika found it amusing, and looked at each other and laughed.
When Ephraim said “kill,” he of course actually meant that he would defeat Glen in a duel with set rules. None of them thought that a day would ever come where they must go to war and divide people into allies and enemies.
The feelings of nostalgia were still warm in Eirika’s heart as she looked up at Glen. “I never thought I would meet you here like this...”
“I didn’t want our second meeting to be like this, either. However, His Majesty has ordered it. Eirika, for the crime of massacring Carcino citizens, I must punish you.”
“What…!?” The next words to come out of Glen’s mouth were the last she ever would have expected from him. “I massacred…? What do you mean, I…”
“If you can explain yourself, then I will listen. However, your actions were unjustifiably cruel. You suddenly attacked the port town of Kiris, and slaughtered a great number of the citizens who were desperately trying to escape. You and your army were supposed to be Frelia’s allies! How could you unleash such cruelty upon the people of Carcino, who trusted you!?”
Eirika stared at him, mouth wide open. She didn’t know how to respond to a story that was so completely different from the truth. And he was not making false accusations against her. He really seemed to believe that Eirika’s army had committed a massacre. His chiseled face was twisted in a look of anger and hatred.
The one who answered for the bewildered Eirika was Innes. He chuckled and said, “Don’t be stupid. I thought you were General Glen, one of Grado’s famed Three Imperial Generals. You cannot be this foolish.”
“...What?” Glen furrowed his eyebrows.
Innes’ tone became even more and more scathing as he continued, “We were the ones betrayed by Carcino. They hired mercenaries to attack us, so we had no choice but to fight back. None of the ordinary citizens should have been harmed. Try investigating on your own before you open your mouth next time! How dare you say something so foolish as Eirika committing a massacre! This was all orchestrated by the Grado Empire, was it not?”
“What did you just say!?”
“Amazing! So you did really believe those idiotic lies! I'm amazed you managed to become one of the Three Imperial Generals…"
“Stop it, Innes!” Eirika finally regained her ability to speak, and scolded him for provoking Glen. She then looked back at Glen, who seemed to be understandably offended. “Sir Glen, what Prince Innes just said is correct. We did not harm the villagers. But if you believe the emperor’s words over ours, then there is nothing we can do. I don’t want to fight because of a misunderstanding like this, however…”
Confusion appeared in Glen’s eyes. His intent to fight vanished entirely, and he became lost in thought.
Eirika waited. Glen was a smart person. She believed that he would surely reconsider everything.
Finally, he opened his mouth. His voice was much softer now. “I understand. You’re right. I don’t know anything about the damage in Carcino. I will come again after I have confirmed what happened. If what you are saying is correct… then what His Majesty told me is a lie. I must ask him what his true motives are.”
“So you believe us?” Eirika breathed a sigh of relief.
Glen looked at her again. He still had a harsh look on his face, but the anger he’d originally showed was gone. “No, this doesn’t mean I believe you. I will simply withhold judgement until I can confirm the truth. If I find out that what you told me is the lie, then prepare yourselves.”
“We will.”
“Sorry for bothering you.” Glen climbed back atop his dragon.
The other two dragons following behind him also softly spread their wings and flew upwards. Their powerful wings sliced through the sky, and in the blink of an eye, they became tiny specks.
“I can’t believe the emperor would tell such a lie…”
Eirika heard a voice say from beside her. She looked to see who it was, and saw Amelia staring up at the dragons. On her innocent face was an expression full of regret. “Maybe… Pablo was the one who spread the lie, and tricked His Majesty… Yeah! I’m sure that’s what happened!” Amelia said to convince herself, then nodded.
Seeing Amelia like this hurt Eirika’s heart. She may be a member of their army, but she was originally from Grado. Her respect for the emperor was likely to still be very strong. Eirika understood her desire to think there was some sort of misunderstanding.
But Eirika was sure that this wasn’t some plot of Pablo’s, but a path the emperor had chosen for himself. He was the one who’d ordered the sudden invasion of Renais. No matter how horrible his methods became, nothing would surprise Eirika any more.
“Amelia, this actually gives me a sense of relief.” Eirika said.
Amelia looked at her with her mouth wide open. “What… do you mean?”
“General Glen said that he was going to go confirm the truth. So long as there are people like him, then there’s still a possibility that we can talk this through. There’s also the rumor going around that General Duessel is against this war, correct? They’re both central figures to the empire, so everything can still be okay.”
Because the emperor had planned his strategy poorly, he may have actually dug his own grave. Anyone who investigated into the truth could quickly figure out that Eirika and her army had not committed a massacre. Glen was unlikely to trust an emperor that lied to him. If they were able to convince someone like him, who had such a huge influence over the military, there was even a chance that it would mean the beginning of the end of the war.
Amelia’s expression also brightened.
And so, Eirika’s army continued to follow Saleh, beginning to walk even higher up the mountain.

Tides of the Dark Crystal liveblog pt 11
Tides of the Dark Crystal by J.M. Lee because uh oh Amri’s in trouble!
Last times on book: Amri and co are on a quest to unite all the Gelfling clans, a quest that is starting off on the wrong foot already. Maudra Ethri of the Sifa told them no thanks and it turns out that she’s hosting the Skeksis Mariner skekSa. Sifa Tae gets poisoned while the heroes are adjacent and they get briefly blamed for it but skekSa sleuths out the real culprit. But while Dr. Detective Captain skekSa is healing Tae, Amri tries to stab the Skeksis for reasons that seemed like a good idea at the time.
Chapter 11
Maudra Ethri’s plan and spider crimes
With Tae healed and rehydrating, skekSa calls everyone into the accusing parlor. Which is still her lab but she’s sitting in a nice chair chugging something from a decanter.
“Go on, then. Let it all out. All the pieces are here. I will preside, to make sure no one gets untoward... or tries to kill me.”
The last she tossed like a stick on the fire in Tavra’s direction, though the spider had retracted all her legs so she looked like any other gem resting inertly on the table. Amri soured with guilt. He had been the one who’d tried to kill skekSa, not Tavra.
YOU GOOFED UP AMRI.
Amri wants to confess that the spider is blameless but since skekSa hasn’t retaliated, he holds back hoping that everyone can get out of this okay.
Since nobody volunteers to be first in the accusing parlor, skekSa volunteers Captain Staya to air his grievance. But instead he apologizes to Tae, saying he never meant for her to be in danger. He only wanted to drug her and pick her brain! Tae is wry about his apology but this isn’t want skekSa is here for.
“Enough apologies. I want grievances!”
Hah.
She’s been out on the sea alone so mama needs her drama fix!
At her prompting, Staya says that there’s been a rumor because of the pink petal message that the Skeksis have betrayed the Gelfling and that Maudra Ethri has called them together in Cera-Na not to rise up but to gather all the Sifa to flee.
Which Ethri casually confirms. Yes, they’re all leaving tomorrow at sunset.
Staya is aghast but Naia is furious. She tears into Ethri for abandoning the rest of the Gelfling. But Ethri says that as maudra “if I choose to lead my clan out from under Emperor skekSo’s claws, that is my choice to make.”
Staya has a different objection.
“But, Maudra, you ignore the signs! The wind is against us. The tide is against us. With every limb of its body, Thra pushes us back toward the south, yet you’d sail in the face of that? You’d trust a Skeksis over the signs of Thra?”
“I don’t need the wind or the tide! The Lord Mariner has looked after the Sifa since we first touched toe to the sea. Has sailed with us far from the Castle of the Crystal and the traitor Skeksis. We have our Sifa charts and navigators, and skekSa’s ship will break the waves for us. She has promised us this, and I believe her.”
skekSa’s only response was to take another swig of her drink, as if she were watching a performance and was pleasantly entertained.
Which, in fairness, has been her attitude throughout.
Interesting how she’s forcing the airing of these grievances when she’s part of them but it doesn’t really feel like she feels like she’s part of it.
But taking her favored clan out of the clutches of the other Skeksis who she doesn’t like, I wonder whose head that idea originated in.
Naia growls at Ethri that despite what Onica said, Ethri is just a coward and a traitor, and Ethri momentarily looks as lost and confused as Amri feels.
She’s the youngest Maudra and she’s suddenly been exposed to this idea that the power structure is feeding on the Gelfling in a very literal way. She has no trust that the All-Maudra will stand against the Skeksis given how she hasn’t so far. Even Onica doubts Mayrin’s commitment to resisting the Skeksis. And she was in the shared dream conference call!
The moment passes and Ethri gets her steel back and relays an ultimatum.
“Staya, you are welcome to remain in Cera-Na if it pleases you. Stay here and die. But if you will choose wisely, then you will set sail with the rest of the clain tomorrow night.”
Then she helps Tae to her feet and leaves the accusing parlor. And after a moment where Staya internally struggles, he follows after her. Which, I guess, is a metaphor for him falling in line. Probably.
With that out of the way, skekSa turns back to the elephant in the room, so to speak.
Hm. I wonder what Thra has that fills the ecological niche that elephants do.
“Now then, on to other matters.” In a single garish movement, she lifted the jar and flung it over a shoulder so it crashed against the wall. She leaned in and sneered. “Tell me what you want, Arathim. Spider. Have you reported all this to the Emperor, then? Shall I expect he and General skekUng will arrive shortly to dispatch me? Or will it be skekMal, your mad pet?”
OKAY!
So there’s a lot here.
First, skekSa is dramatic as heck.
Second, reasonably enough, she assumes that a Gelfling with a spider on him trying to stab her is an Arathim. And so working for the other Skeksis.
I didn’t realize that the bad blood between skekSa and the Castle was ‘send assassins at her’ level bad. Or, I guess, that she was paranoid to assume it is. Then again, a Gelfling with a spider on him did try to stab her while she’s about to sail off with an entire clan the next day so maybe that’s the most reasonable paranoid thing to assume.
I wonder if the Emperor did send assassins after her before. Not out of any desire to have her actually deaded but just to send the message that he’s not happy with her doing her own thing.
A lot of questions being raised.
Third, huh skekUng is the General. I wonder if skekVar exists in the J.M. Lee continuity. And what his title is.
Anyway, Tavra refuses to speak up and out herself so skekSa decides to grind her to spider dust. Kylan scoops Tavra off the table and insists that she’s not an Arathim.
“Of course it’s Arathim,” skekSa retorted. “It’s a spider, isn’t it? Sworn to Emperor skekSo. The crystal-singers, the silk-spitters, the whole squiggly lot of them. Make my scales crawl, they do.” She eyed Kylan suspiciously, but tossed the pestle over her shoulder to join the broken jar. “What’s going on here?”
Amri can’t think of anything to say so skekSa drops the matter, just promising that one day they’ll tell her. “I will wait. After all, I have eternity.”
Then she gives Amri his sword back as “A reminder of my generosity” and calls a boat to transport them back to shore since she can tell they’re afraid she’s going to do something while they’re on her ship.
Dang, skekSa, you’re so classy. You’re going to turn out to be evil but you’re doing a great job at it.
The group regroups on Onica’s ship and catch her up on what happened.
Kylan, that nerd (affectionate), asks Onica Far-Dreamer whether its true that all the signs are against Ethri’s plan.
“There are many signs, all with many meanings. What I know is that the tide is against a northward journey, and the wind this time of season would make it impossible if it weren’t for skekSa’s promise to help. And aside from that, no one even knows what’s across the Silver Sea. Ethri is well aware of all this, yet she plans to defy the signs... It is not the Sifa way. Something has come over her. I don’t know if it is the fear of the Skeksis, or that she is being manipulated by Lord skekSa.” Onica sighed and pushed her fingers through her hair before adding, “Worst of all, I fear she is no longer the Ethri I knew.”
Still low to medium key fascinated about this Unknown Continent. All the action of Dark Crystal just takes place on this one place. And if the coast sees snow up where the Vapra lives, how cold is the unknown land that Ethri wants to sail to?
Tavra comforts Onica, promising that they’ll speak with Ethri again and change her mind. And then apologizes to Amri for biting him, saying she didn’t take control of his body on purpose.
But he’s just imagining what would have happened if Tavra hadn’t stopped him. Hitting skekSa with a teeny little Gelfling sword and only enraging her, ensuring Naia’s death because he wanted to act the hero.
“I’m tired,” he said.
He took the sword from his belt and set it on the table beside Tavra. He found a darker corner of the cabin among the cushions and quilts, wrapped his cloak tight around his shoulders, and pretended to go to sleep.

7 Secrets <pt. 7>
Tumblr media
GENRE: Soulmate!au BTS!
WARNINGS: none
WORD COUNT: 4685
I loved getting all the guys together with their soulmates in this chapter! There is so much to come from this group. I hope you enjoy!
“Here I was thinking that we were about to have the most relaxing time, then she suddenly starts scolding me like I’m some kindergartener! Can you believe it?”
Jin’s voice is unmistakable, as is Kyung-soon’s laugh.
“Honestly, yeah. I can believe it.” Seohyun’s voice echoes down the hallway, and I pick up the pace as we go toward the open door.
Dr. Kim goes in before us, announcing our presence to everyone. Right, there’s still a bit more bonding to be done. I take a deep breath, Namjoon locking his jaw in concentration.
I have no idea where to look when I first enter the room, Namjoon leading the way. He looks a bit protective, and I almost snort at his behavior. I can feel the other bonds clicking into place, they don’t require physical contact to be triggered. I rest my other hand on Namjoon’s forearm for extra support which he readily gives me, leaning into my body.
Kyung-soon stands just in front of Jin, his hand resting on her shoulder. His ears are bright red, but he makes no move to change his position. The two of them make a striking pair, my jaw nearly drops to the floor at the sheer amount of beauty in the room.
Seohyun is who I see next, her blinding smile drawing in my attention. Namjoon gives her a polite smile back, his eyes drifting to where Yoongi stands at her side. Yoongi is clearly just as drawn in by her as everybody else is; he only gives me a small nod before turning all of his attention back to Seohyun.
Himari breaks from where she was leaning against Hoseok, leaping forward.
“Good news, I didn’t pass out!” She exclaims, causing laughter to fill the room. Hoseok follows after her, his heart smile making an appearance.
“She was pretty close though,” he tells me and then dodges Himari’s death glare. “You’re Bethany, right?” I nod, reminding myself that Hoseok is simply another human being. No need to freak out, right?
“She goes by Beth, though.” Namjoon pipes up, looking at me for confirmation. I squeeze his hand.
“Yeah, I do. It’s nice to meet you guys.” I say, and Yoongi comes out of his trance enough to mumble something under his breath that sounds like ‘nice to meet you too’. Seohyun glances at him, and his eyes quickly turn away from her to avoid being caught staring. She grins back at me, completely aware that she’s got him wrapped around her finger.
“Where’s everybody else?” Namjoon asks, reluctantly letting go of my hand as Himari pulls me in for a hug.
Another doctor who I just noticed answers his question. “They’re all still in recovery, Jungkook and Minsuh just completed their bonding. They’ll be brought out when sufficient time has passed.” The doctor rattles off the information like he’s reading from a book. “Is everybody feeling alright?”
I nod, glancing at Namjoon the same time he looks at me. He’s clearly more embarrassed in front of his fellow members, because his face goes red and he fidgets for a moment. Hoseok quickly wraps an arm around his shoulders, masking his embarrassment with a question.
“So, how did it go for you guys? According to Dr. Choi,” he nods to the doctor standing beside the door. “You two took the longest time.”
I huff out a sigh of defeat. “Oh, no. You guys are keeping times? Seohyun’s never going to let us hear the end of it if she wins.” Himari hums in agreement, and I notice Jin and Kyung-soon sharing a sweet look. It makes me happy, seeing her so happy. No doubt she’s already stolen his heart.
I look back at Namjoon who’s stumbling to explain why it took us so long, and wonder how long it will take for me to steal his heart. Heaven knows he’s had mine for the past three years.
Himari whispers in my ear. “Can you believe how smitten Yoongi looks right now?” I chuckle at the pair.
“I wonder what happened when they bonded.”
“They haven’t said much, but it sounds like it was pretty intense. They still feel the shock every time they touch. Seohyun about jumped out of her skin a second ago when his hand brushed up against hers.”
I chuckle again, looking at my friend in adoration. Himari has been my closest friend throughout this entire journey, but our friendship somehow feels more complete now. The look in her eyes returns the sentiment, her arm slipping around my shoulders like Hoseok did to Namjoon earlier.
“What are you two giggling about over there?” Kyung-soon raises her eyebrows at us. She somehow seems bolder with Jin by her side.
We shrug, looking every part the conspirators we are. “Nothing, just catching up.” I say, winking at her. I see Namjoon’s eyebrows go up at my wink, which wasn’t even directed at him. Hoseok bursts out into laughter.
“She didn’t even wink at you,” he says, only making Namjoon go more red and hide his face. I get second-hand embarrassment just watching him. Poor guy. Thankfully Dr. Choi cuts in, announcing that Aera and Jimin are on their way.
I drift back over to Namjoon, needing a bit more strength from him in preparation for meeting another soul brother. His eyes are closed, still fighting the red that has taken up permanent residence on his cheeks. I take a chance, gently wrapping my arms around his waist. I’m worried for a moment that he’ll feel too embarrassed to return my embrace, but he releases a shaky breath that goes straight to my heart and wraps his arms around my shoulders, resting his chin on my head.
I hear Seohyun cooing over us. “Aw, look at them.”
“Seohyun,” I warn. I can feel Namjoon’s laugh rumble through his chest, making me melt more into the embrace.
I turn so that I’m leaning against Namjoon, facing the door. A second later Aera peeks her head through the door, smiling as she sees us.
“Hello everybody,” she says cheerily. She steps in, Jimin trailing in behind her with their hands firmly connected. He has a goofy smile on his face.
“Somebody looks pleased with themselves,” Jin says. Jimin laughs in response, growing a little shy.
He shrugs, looking around at all the new arrivals and waving. “It’s a good day.” Aera practically glows at his side.
Seohyun comes forward, and I grin as Yoongi looks uncertain whether or not to follow her. He takes a step and then decides to simply wait for her to return. I can almost hear him inwardly reminding himself that he’s not a lost puppy, but a respected member of the music community.
“You look surprisingly calm,” Seohyun says. She hugs Aera, who returns the hug with one arm and keeps her other hand in Jimin’s. Jimin notices her decision, his eyes turning to crescent moons as he smiles even brighter. “Everything went well?”
Aera nods. “Everything went well. Quick, what was everybody’s time?”
Oh, this is definitely turning into some sort of competition. I groan, burying my face into Namjoon’s shoulder. Everybody laughs at my reaction.
“I’ll just say it,” Namjoon says from above me. “We were just over 6 minutes. I know, I know.”
“Ah-ha! I knew you were taking longer! Jungkookie wouldn’t believe me!” Jimin exclaims, pointing at us. I want to die from all of the attention.
“Knowing Namjoon he probably had to give a speech before bonding,” Yoongi adds from the back of the room. Now it’s Namjoon’s turn to groan, and I smile up at him. He holds my eye contact for a little longer than what would be deemed normal, and I decide to turn away before I get too lost in his eyes. We’ve already embarrassed ourselves enough today.
“Glad to see you’ve found your voice again, Yoongi,” Hoseok chimes in, causing the other boy to promptly close his mouth as Seohyun chuckles.
“Oh, what did Namjoon say to you, Beth?” Aera giggles at my discomfort as I remember Namjoon’s sweet words. ‘Can I just hug you?’
“Well first we had tea and then we discussed literature.” I fire back. “You two didn’t?”
Jimin and Aera exchange a glance, a lopsided grin forming on Jimin’s face. Neither one of them respond, which only makes me more curious.
“We took almost exactly 5 minutes,” Himari says, keeping the conversation flowing. “What about you guys?”
“4:32.”
Next Jin gives their time. “Ours was 5 as well.” His voice is quieter than before, clearly his mind is preoccupied with the beautiful girl in front of him. Kyung-soon pretends to not notice.
Seohyun glances back at Yoongi sheepishly. Now I really want to know what happened between them. “2:42, wasn’t it?” Yoongi nods, only able to hold her gaze for a moment before dropping it.
“Wait, why does everybody have exact times?” I ask. Dr. Choi glances at his clipboard, scanning for our names. “Does the time really matter that much?”
“Your exact time,” Dr. Choi says, “was 6:50. The time doesn’t hold that much significance, however it does tell us a bit more about the kind of bond you have.” He catches my worried look and rushes to reassure me. “Trust me, it doesn’t have a negative effect. There is just a different emphasis, if you will.”
I nod, trusting him and the other doctors to go over everything in more detail later on.
“Oh-ho!” Kyung-soon laughs out loud. “That’s nearly 7 minutes you guys! What book were you discussing, again?”
We continue the banter, drinking in the different dynamics of each pair. It fills me with excitement. That excitement only triples every time Namjoon adjusts his hold on me, getting as close as possible. It’s surprising, I’ve seen enough BTS content to know that Namjoon is definitely not the most touchy. I can see from the looks of the other members that they’re also surprised, but I bask in his touch for now. Maybe it just had to be with the right person. I know that’s how it usually is with me.
By the time Taehyung and Ichika make their appearance I’ve learned that Kyung-soon did indeed call Jin out for making her go first, Yoongi started working on some new music the second they got into the recovery room (Seohyun got to help him, which was a dream come true for her, although she denies the fact that she’s the inspiration for the music), and Himari and Hoseok were so excited to finally meet that they ended up having to sit down mid-bond because their legs were giving out.
Taehyung holds nothing back as he hugs Ichika from behind, chin resting on her shoulder. When the other boys ask him if he cried he nods. “I cried a little,” he admits. Ichika smiles down at her shoes, and he steals an adoring glance at her. The look makes me sigh, they’re so cute. They look like they were made for each other.
Well, I guess that they were.
“I may have cried, but I doubt I cried as much as Jungkook probably did.” Taehyung defends himself, and everybody chuckles. No doubt the maknae of the group was a mess if he was on the verge of hyperventilation earlier according to Mr. Bang.
“How long did you two take?” Namjoon asks, joining in on the competition. Maybe they took longer, if they were crying. One can hope, at least.
Ichika looks at Taehyung, confusion clear on their faces. “I’m not sure,” she mumbles. The two of them were so lost in the moment that they didn’t hear or ask for their time. “Is it important?”
Dr. Choi explains the times again before checking their time. “You two took...3 minutes and 38 seconds.”
I huff everybody whoops and hollers. “You two are definitely the slowest,” Himari teases. “Only one opportunity left. You’d better hope Jungkook was bawling his eyes out.”
Almost as though summoning them, Dr. Kim and the male doctor who’s name I have yet to learn enter the room, informing us that Jungkook and Minsuh are on their way.
It’s Jungkook who enters first, checking behind him as he waits for Minsuh. They’re careful to stay close, but not touch. Almost like Yoongi and Seohyun.
“Oh, our little Jungkookie finally made it!” Jimin exclaims from where he’s standing beside Taehyung. Jungkook ignores him, and I notice that his eyes are red and puffy.
Taehyung wanders over to him, his boxy smile on display which Ichika clearly appreciates. “Are you ok?” Jungkook falls into his embrace, and I notice Minsuh’s shaking hands as Ichika hugs her.
“We’re alright I think,” Jungkook says, eyeing us all sheepishly. “Are you ok still?” He questions Minsuh quietly, and she gives him a little nod.
Jin breaks the awkward tension. “Alright, what was your time?” Then, he looks over to Namjoon with a prideful smirk on his face. “Prepare to lose, Joon-ah.”
“Uhm, what was it again?” Jungkook asks Minsuh.
She ponders for a second, looking to the doctors. “What did you say it was? 2:39 or something?”
I can hear Seohyun’s intake of breath as the doctor confirms the time as 2:39...3 seconds faster than her and Yoongi.
“I can’t believe this!” Seohyun exclaims, her laugh joining the rest of us. “For once in my life, I was winning! How could you do this to me, Min?”
Yoongi looks like he desperately wants to reach out to her, but he doesn’t move. I remember what Himari said earlier about the two of them still feeling the shock of the bond each time they touched.
“Yeah, welcome to our lives,” Jimin speaks up. “He’s the golden maknae, what did you expect?”
Namjoon nudges me, and I turn to face him amidst the chaos in the room as everyone starts bickering over the importance of the times. “You know,” he begins, leaning down to whisper, “The way I see it, we’re the real winners here.”
“Oh really?” I raise my eyebrows at him, chuckling at how self-conscious he becomes as he ponders touching me and goes against it, settling for just being close.
“Yeah, of course. We got to enjoy our...bonding, everybody else’s was over too quick. Don’t you think?” He looks at me with a hint of a smile, even as his ears turn an impressive shade of red.
I grin up at him, a startled laugh leaving my lips. “You’re right!” I say, the words coming out a little louder than I intended. I glance around, but nobody besides Himari seems to have noticed; they’re all too busy teasing each other. Himari just shoots me a smile before returning her focus on Hoseok.
Dr. Kim, who appears to be running the show, speaks up. It’s a good thing, too. Jungkook looks like he might pass out if he gets teased much longer.
“Everyone, we’re going to give you something of a debriefing now. If you’ll follow me to the conference room just down the hall we’ll begin.” She turns on her heel and walks out the door. Jungkook and Minsuh are closest to the door, so they follow after her first. Like before, they’re careful to stay close but not touch. A glance behind me shows Yoongi and Seohyun doing the same thing.
Indeed, the only pair that are walking hand in hand down the hallway are Taehyung and Ichika.
Before we enter the conference room I notice a bodyguard at the end of the hallway, guarding what looks like a door to the stairs. Another stands before the elevator.
“Are they blocking every exit or something?” Seohyun wonders aloud.
“They’ve blocked off the floor for us today, so nobody wanders up here.” Yoongi gently explains.
Bang Si Hyuk greets us upon entering the conference room, a couple of other people that I recognize as BTS’s managers by his side. One of them is still in the process of signing a paper, and I recognize it as an NDA, similar to the one I signed 3 years ago.
“Hello hello,” Mr. Bang says, his eyes roving over us all as though checking for injuries. He turns to Dr. Kim. “Everything went well?”
She nods. “Yes, everybody is doing just fine. Are we all set in here? I’ve got a few things to go over with everybody.”
Mr. Bang gives us the ok to take our seat, and Namjoon leads me to the front. Before we can take our seat, however, Dr. Kim stops us.
“I think it might be best if we have the girls sit on this side and the boys take the opposite side of the table.” I notice her smirking at Taehyung, who has yet to relinquish his hold on Ichika. “It will help everybody to focus better if they’re given some...space.”
Namjoon is quick to slip into leader mode, taking the initiative and settling down in the seat opposite me. I shake off the feeling of disappointment, content to just be seated in the same room as him.
Himari takes her seat beside me, Hoseok making sure he’s across from her. They grin at each other like school children from across the table.
“All settled? Great. Let’s get started. First off, you all did wonderful. There were no major hiccups in the bonding process, and despite all your nerves, it’s paid off. So take a moment to breathe, the worst is over.”
Hoseok takes her advice literally, sighing loudly and collapsing against the back of his chair. Himari giggles at the action, rolling her eyes.
“Now, I know that you’ve all been comparing times.” Seohyun uses this opportunity to glare at Minsuh, who appears to have gained back some energy and sticks her tongue out at her. “We’ll take some time to explain what we can learn from this, however we will leave up to each pair to learn through their own experiences together how to best mold their relationships.” Everybody in the room blushes at the implication of Dr. Kim’s words.
Behind her, Dr. Choi takes up a marker and begins writing on the white board. I wish that I had my notebook on me right now. Or my phone, which I just realize I left in the recovery room.
4:00 or less: Eros, Ludus
5:00: Eros, Pragma
6:00 or more: Pragma, Eros, Ludus
I stare at the board in confusion, my mind whirring as I try to translate the unfamiliar words. I can tell that Himari and Ichika are trying to do the same thing. There’s only one that I think I recognize, but I may be wrong.
Namjoon speaks up, his brow furrowed and I can practically see the thoughts bouncing around his head.
“Aren’t these types of love?” He asks.
Dr. Kim looks at him appraisingly, and I shrug off the defensiveness that rises in me. “Yes, exactly. Do you know what each one means? In total there are eight, however these three are typically reserved for significant others.”
Namjoon looks across the table at me as though waiting for me to help him. I merely shrug.
“If you can translate them, maybe I could help. But we’re not going to be much help to you, sorry.” I gesture to the three of us foreigners, and everybody hums in acknowledgment.
“Oh,” Namjoon says sheepishly. “Right. I’m not sure I know what these translate to. Sorry.” He returns his attention to Dr. Kim. “I think that eros has something to do with more...romantic love, doesn’t it? The other two I’m unsure of.”
She nods, looking around the room for any other answers. She continues on when nobody offers up an answer.
“Eros does have to do with romantic love. Ludus is playful or flirtatious love, and pragma is enduring love.” My eyes drift back over to the white board. “First off, it’s important for you to know that each of you have and will have to develop all three of these types of love. However, the amount of time you took while bonding does say a lot about the kind of role each type will have in your lives.”
Yoongi speaks up, his eyes firmly on the board even as I’m sure he can feel Seohyun’s gaze. “So does this mean that for those of us who took less than 4 minutes, eros and...ludus will be more prominent?”
“In a way. If I may use you as an example?” Yoongi nods hesitantly, biting his lips nervously. I can see Seohyun fighting against the urge to coo over him. “You and Seohyun had a very intense bonding, which can be attributed to the prominence of eros there will be in your future.” Oh, now Yoongi’s definitely nervous. He looks like he might just take his chances and make a run for it. “However, it was quick. This tells us a couple of things. One, that you feel things on a deep emotional level, and can process those feelings quickly. Ludus on it’s own can reflect infidelity or not taking things seriously,” everybody stiffens at the mention of infidelity, “however when it’s paired with eros it can lead to a deep and meaningful relationship, without missing out on all the fun.”
I sneak a look at Seohyun down the table only to see her barely holding herself together. A gigantic smile is threatening to break through any second now.
“Typically we see that these kinds of couples need to set plenty of time aside to simply be together. So this goes for…” Dr. Kim looks off of Dr. Choi’s clipboard for a second. “Not just Yoongi and Seohyun, but also Taehyung and Ichika, and Jungkook and Minsuh.” Each couple straightens up, listening carefully. “The presence of ludus is an indicator that each couple needs to work on being open with each other. Some of you may be rather closed off,” the boys share a knowing look, “however you will need to work carefully to be open and enjoy your time together. Does that make sense?” A quick nod from around the room.
“I’m surprised jhope doesn’t have this...ludus thing,” Taehyung says. “Isn’t he playful?”
Dr. Choi jumps in. “Yes, and that brings us to the next category.” I feel like I’m on a gameshow. “Those right around the five minute mark are focused on eros and pragma. This isn’t to say that ludus isn’t a factor, however if you look at these couples it’s something that they may already have and don’t need to focus on so much. Instead, they need to focus on longevity. Working together and spending quality time are crucial here.”
I can almost feel the invisible trickle of sweat going down the back of my neck as everybody talks amongst themselves. What is our time supposed to mean then?
“Did you hear that Taehyungie? We’re already fun enough.” Jimin teases, earning himself an elbow to the ribs.
Dr. Kim is quick to correct him. “That’s not exactly what that means. It simply means that those who need to focus on a healthy balance between ludus and eros need to realize that they aren’t a burden to their significant other. You’ll each receive a packet with more information on the soulmate bond later today, we encourage you all to study it together with your partner and separately.”
It’s quiet for a moment, and I take the moment of silence to jump in with the next question. “So...what does this mean for us?” I gesture between Namjoon and I. “Do we just have to work on everything?”
Kyung-soon leans in front of Himari, gripping my hand in hers. “Yes, darling. Long story short, you two are a complete mess.”
I snort out a laugh, and I notice Jin’s look of pleased shock at his soulmate’s behavior. I already know that these two are going to wreak havoc together.
“Pragma is enduring love, which essentially means: practice, practice, practice.” My eyes grow wide. Will we struggle loving each other? I can’t imagine having an issue falling in love with the man across the table from me. Dr. Kim sees my look of fear. “Not to worry, these relationships tend to be very successful and fulfilling. Hence the prominence of the three types.” I ease back a bit, still not convinced.
Dr. Choi picks up where Dr. Kim left off. “I’m sure that during your bonding the two of you felt a myriad of emotions, correct? Some were positive, and maybe there were a few negative or sad ones as well.” Namjoon visibly winces across the table as he remembers the pang of sadness. I can still feel it like an electric shock, but with it comes the memory of Namjoon holding me tight, and the calming feeling after.
Everybody looks a little concerned as they stare at us, but I keep my eyes on Dr. Choi. Apparently they didn’t have the same experience.
“Do you remember, when you felt those...unhappy emotions, what was it that helped you through it?”
I’m not sure if it’s a rhetorical question or not, but Namjoon mumbles out an answer almost as though he’s thinking out loud. “Ah, Beth.”
Dr. Choi nods vigorously, apparently Namjoon is onto something. “Go on, Namjoon.”
Namjoon’s head shoots up as he realizes with a start that he was indeed thinking out loud. “What? Oh, oh. Well,” he fidgets around in his seat uncomfortably, not daring to look up at me. I, on the other hand, can’t look away from him. “When I felt the sadness Beth must have realized it, and she...um...shejusthuggedmetighter and I felt better.”
My eyes go wide while the poor boy is nearly the same shade of a tomato, his eyes glued to his lap. “I did?”
Namjoon only nods, his eyes flicking up to mine and back down so quickly that I almost miss it.
“No, you did.” I say. “You did and then a second later I felt really calm and-and happy.” I mumble out the last part, Namjoon’s embarrassment transferring to me. I await the laughter of everybody else in the room, but it’s deathly quiet. I wonder if the boys have rarely seen Namjoon in such a state.
“You’re both right,” Dr. Choi interjects. “Which is what I’m trying to tell you: the two of you have to rely on each other. This kind of bond reflects the amazing love, support, and joy that the two of you can have, however you must rely on each other. And I know that’s scary,” Dr. Choi raises his hands up in innocence when both Namjoon and I turn to look at him. “You’re both independent people, perfectly capable of handling life on your own. However, just because you can doesn’t mean you should. So, like Dr. Kim said: practice. Pragma is all about working together. Think you can do it?”
He shoots the question at us, and I want to shout out a yes. Yes, of course we can. But my eyes drift back over to Namjoon, silently asking him the same question. Do you think we can do this?
Namjoon’s eyes are filled with a determination that I envy. I realize that I shouldn’t be surprised, this man can do anything he sets his mind to. So really, it’s not a question of if we can, but if we want to. If we want this.
If we want us.
And I do. Without speaking a single word, I try my best to relay that information over the table through the bond that if I focus hard enough I can still feel pulling us together. Namjoon looks into my eyes a moment longer, and I can see the moment it clicks. Message received. Now it’s up to him. I won’t stand in his way. Despite these 3 years of wanting, loneliness, and dream-filled days, I won’t stand in his way. But if he wants, I will stand beside him.
Namjoon gives a slight nod, and turns back to Dr. Choi. “Absolutely.”

Crown Prince Hussein in an interview with Jordan Television in March 2021, on the anniversary of the Arabisation of army leadership.
The Crown Prince also touched on a number of topics like the state centennial, Jordan’s foreign policies, the repercussions of the COVID-19 crisis and social media.
The video is subtitled & following is the English transcript of the interview:
Jordan Television: In this conversation with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II, we will discuss a number of occasions — the anniversary of the Arabisation of army leadership, the centennial of the state, and a number of other topics.
Welcome, Your Royal Highness.
Crown Prince Hussein: Thank you for having me. Allow me first to send my greetings to all Jordan Television viewers and to pay tribute to all those working to counter the COVID-19 pandemic. May the souls of those who passed away from our families rest in peace, and may God protect everyone. “God is best at guarding, and He is the Most Merciful of merciful ones.”
Jordan Television: Your Royal Highness, our meeting coincides with a dear occasion to us all, the anniversary of the Arabisation of army leadership. The Armed Forces, as we all know, have a major and prominent role in safeguarding our nation. And as Crown Prince, Sir, you have a special relationship with the Armed Forces. Can we talk more about it?
Crown Prince: First, Sir, in the army, I’m not a Crown Prince, I’m a First Lieutenant like any other army officer. The Armed Forces teach us commitment, sacrifice and discipline. Frankly, the camaraderie I have experienced in the army is something I have not seen anywhere else.
And as you mentioned, we are celebrating a historic day in the state’s journey. It is an achievement by my grandfather, Al Hussein, may his soul rest in peace, from whom we have inherited the love of and dedication to the army.
And as you know, my father, His Majesty King Abdullah II, is a military man first and foremost, and he has served for a long time in the Arab Army, rising through the ranks to become Special Operations Commander with the rank of Major General.
And to this day, when I accompany His Majesty, I see how he reacts when he meets with those who have served with him, and I feel how happy he is to reminisce about his time with them.
Jordan Television: Honestly, Your Royal Highness, this is a wonderful legacy, and the relationship between the Hashemite family and the Armed Forces is distinctive throughout history. Just recently, we witnessed the launch of the “Brothers in Arms” programme. If anything, this indicates the deep faith in the Armed Forces, including active and retired personnel, doesn’t it, Your Royal Highness?
Crown Prince: I cannot begin to describe how happy I was when this project was launched, because it touches the lives of our brothers who have served in the Armed Forces.
This programme is a priority for His Majesty, who knows how much [veterans and retired servicemen] have given to this nation, out of his close relationship with them. I hope this programme would meet the aspirations of retired servicemen.
Jordan Television: Your Royal Highness, at the start of this conversation, you mentioned the late King Al Hussein, may his soul rest in peace. You carry his name, and many see a resemblance between you and him. Can we speak further about this?
Crown Prince: It is an honour for me, but the issue is not about physical resemblance, what is more important is to carry forward his principles. My grandfather Al Hussein had a unique personality, and from him we learned to have our own independent approach and way of thinking, within the steadfast principles we grew up believing in. May his soul rest in peace, he was an inspiring leader and close to the people, and since I carry his name, this gives me a sense of responsibility and a deep connection to him.
To this day, when I see my pictures with him, I remember my childhood and the attention he used to give me, and it touches me deeply.
When people remember my grandfather Al Hussein, they remember his speeches and positions, but when I see how Jordan continues to stand tall against all odds, I say that this is the legacy that my grandfather left behind, may his soul rest in peace.
Jordan Television: This is a great legacy, Your Royal Highness. We also always see you by His Majesty King Abdullah II’s side. This closeness must have an impact on your daily experience, doesn’t it?
Crown Prince: These meetings are schools unto themselves, and I am very lucky to be able to learn from him. I always see how His Majesty is firm in tough situations and compassionate in humanitarian situations. He always keeps calm and takes the necessary decisions at the right time.
There is no doubt that the responsibilities on His Majesty’s shoulders are indescribable. Those who have simple commitments may not be able to sleep at night, so imagine what it would be like for someone responsible for an entire country. May God bless him and enable us to meet his expectations and serve the nation as he taught us to.
Jordan Television: Your Royal Highness, let us turn to the COVID-19 crisis and its implications. It has been a year since this pandemic started, which has changed much in the world. Your Royal Highness, do you think we will witness any breakthroughs?
Crown Prince: Of course, Sir, this is a new issue for the whole world, and no one knew what sort of enemy we are facing. Unfortunately, many families have lost loved ones, and the lockdowns and infections have impacted livelihoods and the economy. However, God willing, with the vaccine now available, we will be able to gradually recover from the impact of the crisis.
Jordan Television: Your Royal Highness, God willing, and with the determination of all, we will be able to recover soon.
Crown Prince: Jordan was among the first countries to acquire the vaccine in the region, but the delay in the vaccinations is due to delays from the manufacturing companies. Jordan is working to secure a large supply of vaccines, God willing. It is imperative that everyone take the precautions and register to receive the vaccine. Patience is needed, and “with hardship comes ease”.
Jordan Television: Sir, we must also speak about the economic situation. My question, Your Royal Highness, is how can we bolster our economy in light of the challenges facing us?
Crown Prince: Our core challenge is the economy. Jordan has gone through a series of crises, from the Iraq war, to the cut in gas supplies, to the Syrian crisis, and now the COVID-19 crisis. All these crises have impacted economic reform.
Like other countries, there have been mistakes that we must review and learn from, and there must be a clear goal and institutionalised work, as well as bold decision-making in the state’s approach to various economic issues. Policies must not change with the faces, and this must not delay projects.
Most importantly, we must see the results on the ground, and the only concern for any official must be citizens’ interest. Frankly, we do not have time nor patience for any other concerns.
Jordan Television: So, Your Royal Highness, this is a strong call for hard work. The Jordanian society is usually described as a youthful society. Sir, we always see you around youth. How can we enhance young Jordanians’ opportunities and qualifications to join the labour market?
Crown Prince: Our youths are up to the task, and I always meet with them. They all have the energy, but they need the opportunity, so we must focus on honing their skills.
For example, the Crown Prince Foundation is one of the institutions seeking to reach young people in all areas and to contribute to technical education, through several initiatives, such as Al Hussein Technical University. These skills will contribute to qualifying young people to join the labour market.
Jordan Television: Of course, Your Royal Highness, especially since the future lies in technical education, and many local studies indicate there are certain specialties that have become saturated. Your Royal Highness, since we are talking about young people, do you follow their comments on social media?
Crown Prince: Sometimes, when I get the chance. Social media platforms are very important, and it is difficult to disregard them, but they do not always reflect reality. This is why I always try to reach out to people directly.
And sometimes, unfortunately, social media platforms spread negative and false news, so we must always verify the news. Sometimes, I check social media on my phone and suddenly find myself “engaged” or “married”, and there are many false stories that we come across. This happens to most people.
Jordan Television: Sir, Your Royal Highness, you studied international history, and you are aware of the domestic and international scenes; how has Jordan been able to safeguard its interests while maintaining its steadfast positions?
Crown Prince: Everyone knows that Jordan, historically, has gone through much more difficult times than the ones we are living through today. Jordan’s resilience is a lesson to be taught, and this year, we celebrate the centennial of the state, a state that has stood firm and prospered in a turbulent region. This is all due to the strong faith of our people and leadership in this nation.
Jordan’s vision is clear — safeguarding its strategic interests, while our positions remain steadfast towards Arab causes, especially the Palestinian cause, our central cause.
And Sir, Jerusalem is a personal cause for the Hashemites, and a red line for every Jordanian.
Jordan Television: Absolutely, Sir, Jerusalem and its holy sites are in all our hearts. To conclude, Sir, what are your aspirations for Jordan’s future?
Crown Prince: If you want to answer this question, I think it is necessary for us as Jordanians to ask ourselves what is the future that we want? What is the role of each official and citizen in building a community rooted in productivity, justice and efficiency?
Jordan Television: Absolutely, Your Royal Highness, this could be a message to all — we must work towards such a future?
Crown Prince: Our country’s human resources are full of potential; it is a museum from north to south, and we have immense innovative energy.
We have all the key ingredients for progress; we need only to roll up our sleeves and work together as one, because teamwork is key.
And this is who we are as Jordanians. We are all one, God willing, and we are unwavering in the face of all circumstances. I view the future with a sense of optimism, and I pray that God protect everyone and safeguard this nation.
Thank you, Sir, and God bless your efforts
Jordan Television: Amen. Thank you, Your Royal Highness.

Leather Jackets and Glasses
Y/n L/n, the leader of the notorious gang called The Scouts. Placed in Rose high, Y/n is in her senior year but things take a turn when she starts getting interested in a certain boy named, Levi Ackerman. Follow the journey of heartbreak, betrayal and love between two people who were destined to be together.
CHAPTER ONE:
There’s always someone out there made for everyone. This is something i highly believe in. Every person has their person. A boy could have had this childhood friend, who later in life turned out to be more than that. The girl who kissed her best friend because she had never had her first kiss and wanted to get it over with, only for her best friend to pull her closer and kiss her harder. Everyone had that someone. it was only a matter of time before we all found them. But sometimes, its not always that easy. Things happen that are out of your control. You won’t speak to them for long periods of time, bad fights, leaving. And this almost always happens before you get together. That’s the bad part. But that’s the wake up call to tell you that “hey. I care for this person more than myself. I need them. I can’t loose them”.
I loved the idea of love. But I never spoke on it. It made me seem weak and soft and, that’s something i did not want a GANG to know. But i have had my fair share of boyfriends, no love just a quick fuck here and there but there was one boy who captured my heart without even trying. He did so effortlessly you would think he was the biggest player out there. But no. That was just who Levi Ackerman was.
It all began in my senior year of high school. The year had just started and i had nothing to be afraid of. My gang, The Scouts, were the notorious gang of Rose. I was their leader, mostly because my father was the main leader of The Scouts. He was The Godfather. I’d like to say that I did fairly well in school, but not A plus material, I just wanted to graduate and get outta there. This year was mostly about forming new relationships, clearing the air to certain people, and just making amends. But some people also wanted to confess to their someone. I dont want to brag or anything, but i had a lot of people wanting to be with me. Boys would try their luck and i only gave a few chances to a few people, and well, it never turned out good, mostly because my dad found something wrong with them, wanted them to join the gang or they were too scared to take things further.
I loved the gang. They were my family. And plus I could get anything I wanted. I was a princess. In my senior I made a promise to myself that I would not date. Anyone. No matter who much they begged. Because when I hit 17, my life in the gang became a whole lot dangerous. Shootouts would occur at my house, I would get kidnapped and sometimes they would use my friends to threaten me. It was horrible to say the least. And I could ony imagine what they would do if i had a special someone. God. I would not want my someone to have this life. As great as it is material wise, shit gets serious in a split second. My dad had warned me about it. He said that the only way i would get involved with someone is if he had picked them. And naturally i told him, i just wouldnt get a boyfriend, much to his displeasure.
Of course, my school had heard about the little, mishaps my gang had endured and that resulted in me having this huge reputation in school. I was labelled as: dangerous. I’m not gonna lie to you and say that I didnt get into fights, or break some bitches nose because they offended me. I was still a gangster, fighting is in my blood. I got suspended. A lot. And apparently, that attracted Levi.
I had seen him around town and school. He would always be in the cafe around the corner of Trost. I knew that because my brother owned that cafe. Marco had nothing to do with the gang. He wasn’t my father’s child so my dad wasn’t so concerned about him. He was from my mothers first marriage, but that never stopped us from being brother and sister. My mother left me after three years and went back to Marco’ father.
Levi was one of the smartest people at school. Always getting awards but he never seemed to go for the functions. He had kept to himself most of the time. He had his close friends. To name them there was Farlan(his brother), Isabel(Farlan’s girlfriend),Hange(the crazy science geek) and Erwin, the jock.
The first time I actually had spoken to Levi was in Physics. I was running late because I was caught up in beating someone up at the back of the school for reasons I shall not say. I ran into the classroom, out of breathe. Everyone looked at me. Some snickered but when I shot them a quick glare, they shut up.
-Ah Ms L/n. How nice of you to join us.
My professor told me, voice laced with sarcasm.
-uh..sorry. I was busy..lost track of time.
I explained. I winced all of a sudden when I looked at my knuckles. Bleeding. Of course. But I kept that hand behind my back.
-hm. Get to a seat.
He said a bit irritated. I walked away to find one and the only one that was available was the last one by the window. I sat down and realized that..I didn’t bring my books. I cursed myself then I turned to my left and saw a boy sitting there taking notes. He seemed really into his work though, but shit, I needed something to write on.
-hey.
I say to capture his attention. He stops writing and slowly looks towards me. He seems really...shy?
-can I borrow a page? And pencil?
I ask him. He widens his eyes and quickly tears a page from his book and digs in his pencil case for a pencil. He finds one and hands me the objects.
-thanks,man.
He simply nods, a faint blush forming on his cheeks but I couldn’t really see it because he put his head down and his long ass bangs hid most of his face. I take a second to observe him. A simple t-shirt, black jeans with converse and cute pair of glasses. His hair was sort of, jet black. I smirk. I knew him. He was one of those top students.
-alright. I’m gonna pass out your tests.
My professor suddenly says. “Fuck”, I mentally curse. I hated physics. I never got the gist of it. I only knew those Newton’s Laws. But I knew that wasn’t enough. He walks around passing papers and comes to me. He looks at my paper, fucking ‘scoffs’, and hands me my paper. A 57. That’s what I got. I didn’t think it was that bad, but this teacher is makingit seem as if the world had just caught on fire and its pissing me off. Looks like someone’s car is getting wrecked today.
-Levi, well done. Keep it up.
I hear him say to the boy. Ah. Levi. That was his name. I reach over and see his mark. 97. Goddamn. He was smart smart.
-a 97? Holy fuck. I could never.
I tell him. He looks at me, kinda stunned. I must admit, if he took off those glasses, it would be one of those scenes in those shitty teen movies where the nerd removes their glasses to reveal they look like a model. But he still looks cute. I looked at him tilting my head to the side.
-what?
I ask him. He shakes his head and looks back down. What a strange one. Suddenly I flinch and look at my bruised knuckles. Fuck they were bleeding. I pat down my pockets on my jeans and check my inside pocket of my leather jacket. How marvelous. I didn’t bring a handkerchief. So I just hold the bruise down to stop the bleeding. Maybe I can make it 45 minutes. All of a sudden I see a handkerchief next to my arm. I look at it, confused, but I take it anyway. I look at Levi. He has a smile, tiny smile. Yeah, he gave me it.
-Thank you.
I tell him. I saw him visibly tense but he looks at me and smiles. I felt...warm. What was this feeling? It’s weird. I have never experienced this before. I don’t know if I want to throw this feeling away or like it. But I promised myself that I wouldn’t get involved with anyone. I may be an asshole, but I would NEVER want anyone to join a gang. Especially my person.
Throughout the day I kept my eye on Levi. I don’t know why I did, but it was just something I found myself doing. The gang and I were chilling on the stands by the football field.
-Ugh! I just want school to finish already! I can’t take it anymore.
Eren says. He was fairly new to the gang, after I found him beating up a kid in an alleyway I recruited him. He’s super hyper and gets worked up easily so he was a good asset to us.
-and I can’t take you complaining anymore.
Jean shoots back. Jean and Eren almost never got along. But I kept them in line.
-both of you shut up.
My right hand woman says. Mikasa. She matched me in strength, but she never dared put me off. We all knew that Jean had a crush on Mikasa, but he never had the balls to say anything. I ignored them and kept my eyes on the boy on the first stand. He was with Hange and Isabel, I take it he was watching Erwin and Farlan train.
-what do you say, Y/n?
Eren asks me. I look at him after a while.
-say what?
I ask.
-you seem to be staring an awful lot lately. Who caught our oh so powerful leader’s eyes?
Eren hops down to where I’m sitting.
-shut up.
I tell him and look back at the field. Eren follows my eyes.
-oh is it Erwin? I’m not gonna lie, he is hot.
-Gay much, Eren?
Jean says as he sits next to me.
-fuck off, horse face.
I don’t care for their conversation and sneak glances at Levi. He seems to be quiet most of the time, since Isabel and Hange talk his ears off. I feel my pocket and I feel the handkerchief. I’m not giving it back. It’s mine now. I seem to be daydreaming again because Jean keeps talking to me.
-what do you want?
I ask him harshly.
-I just want to know if you’re going to homecoming next month.
I scoff and turn my face back to the field.
-of course I am. There’s a lot of things I want to ruin on that night. Oh and by the way guys, home time I want to key my physics teacher’s car. He’s been acting like a bitch and I want to teach him a lesson.
Jean and Eren scream,” HELL YEAH!”, and that caused some people to look at us. That good for that because I caught Levi’s attention. He turns and looks at me. I smile and wink at him. He widens his eyes and turns around. I love fucking around with him.
Hometime rolls in and we go out to the car park and look for my teacher’s car. Luckily, the son of a bitch didn’t park where the cameras were so I pull out my key and so did the others and run it down the bonnet of the car. I run it through the driver’s door moving it to the back. Mikasa took the boot and the boys took the roof and passenger side. After our masterpiece we heard:
-HEY YOU BRATS! STOP THAT.
My physics teacher yells. We look and laugh and made a run for it. We ran to our bikes and took off. Laughing. We drove past the gate and everyone was cheering for us as well. I saw Levi. I once again winked at him and rode away. “Maybe I should mess around with him. What could go wrong?”
Little did I know, a whole lot would go wrong.

SPOILER WARNING
So I was reading ToN and I got to the part about not being able to destroy the fasces, and my mind started racing with ideas so I got down my idea of how the book would end before reading the rest of it, just to see how wrong I was. Anyway I ended up liking it a lot so here’s my alternate ending to the Tower of Nero
Warning this makes no sense if you’ve read any point in the book past where I stopped, so keep that in mind.
Nero’s words still rang in my mind. “You haven’t destroyed it yet, because you can’t. Even if you could, you’d release so much power it would burn you to cinders.” After he said that we ran, fast. He didn’t even bother calling the guards on us. He knew Python would get us first.
I was at the back of the group, because I was carrying the fasces, and it weighed me down. This thing had Nero’s soul in it, it was the only way to kill him, but breaking it would destroy everything around it. And even then, there was still no way to defeat Python. I’m not strong enough to take him out. If only there was some way to… oh. It’s so obvious, why didn’t I think of it earlier? Well, I don’t even want to think about it now, but it’s my only option that gets everyone out safely.
I stopped walking, and the rest of them turned to face me. Rachel asked, “Apollo, what are you doing? We need to keep moving.” I steeled my nerves. “I have a plan to take out Nero and Python in one move.”
“Great, let’s hear it,” Lu said. “No. No time. I need all of you to run, run as far as you can. I’m going to take them out, but you need to be out of the blast zone. Don’t come back for me.” I half wished somebody would protest, say no Apollo, we can’t let you sacrifice yourself, but they nodded, and ran.
Except Meg. Meg was holding back tears.
“Let me help, Lester. You can’t do it on your own.”
“I know.”
“Then how-”
“Destroying the fasces will incinerate anything around it. I’m not strong enough to break it, but he is.”
Meg wasn’t even holding the tears back at this point. She was crying. Over me. “Lester, you can’t,” she sobbed. “You’ll die!”
I pull her into a hug. “Hey, that’s the price of being human.”
“Now go.” She nodded, and gave me a weak smile before turning to run.
I rummaged through my bag, looking for anything to secure the heavy fasces. After a bit of searching I find what I’m looking for. Oh, thank the gods for Duct Tape, truly one of mankind’s greatest inventions. I strap the fasces to my back and shuffle onward towards my doom.
When I finally got there, my old enemy Python has wrapped his way around the entire chamber. His eyes are closed, so he doesn’t see me approaching, and for a second I have to admit, I’m tempted to just flee. Give up this lapse in judgement and live the rest of my mortal life hiding in shame.
But Jason didn’t think like that. Or maybe he did, I guess I have no real way of knowing. Maybe he was just as terrified as I am right now, hesitant to sign his own death warrant. But nevertheless, he jumped into the fray and sacrificed himself to save his friends. So had all the heroes I’ve met on my journey. They were so brave, much braver than I will ever be. But I owe this to them.
“Python!” I yelled into the echoey cavern. Names have power, especially for immortals. Calling the name of someone who wants to kill you is a death wish. But it sure got his attention.
The enormous serpent opened its eyes, the size of lakes, and stared right at me. “Little Lester,” he growled in that horrible voice. “You appear to be all by yourself, but that can’t be possible. I’m sure you have a whole cavalry hidden with some sort of magic. You might as well reveal yourselves, it won’t make a difference.”
I was frozen, shaking. I remember Python well, he terrified me back when I was a god, as a human teen his presence was simply too much. “No,” I squeaked out. I held on to any courage I had. “It’s just me.”
Python smiled, but tilted his head in confusion. “Then how on Earth do you intend to fight me?”
I dropped my bow and ukulele. “I’m not here to fight.”
Now he was incredulous, and angry as well. “I am going to consume you, your entire essence. You will be destroyed, and I will control this world’s future, and you mean to say you aren’t going to fight it?”
“I’m doing this so my friends can survive.”
Python reeled his head back. “Are you sure you’re Apollo?” He hissed. “No immortal in their right mind would be so cavalier with their existence.”
At that I had to laugh. “I don’t think I was ever in my right mind until I was cast down here. I was arrogant, selfish, and cruel. I cared only for myself. But worst of all, I treated mortals like they were expendable. Insignificant humans, good for a laugh, or a duet, or to fetch me something.
“But these people, they live lives that are so full of value and meaning. They form connections that I’ve never had, bonds stronger than anything you or I are capable of. And then… they end. And humans come to terms with it, they accept it. Their lives are so short, but more full than mine ever was. And if sacrificing my life means that they can live another day, then I am fully willing to do so.”
Python was quiet for a moment, looking almost contemplative. Then he curled his sharp teeth into a menacing grin. “Well, Apollo, one thing certainly hasn’t changed about you. You’re still a fool.”
He unhinged his terrifying jaws, and I dove in without hesitation. In the moment before we collided, I could see myself reflected in his eyes. My face was determined and resigned, but my eyes were the real. They were glowing bright orange, two burning orbs, bright and harsh like the unforgiving desert sun.
I could see Python, my oldest enemy, finally recognize me. His mouth didn’t move, but his expression morphed into one of pure terror.
And then he clamped his jaw down.
A fang came down right on top of me, the impact puncturing my body and shattering my spine. The pain was searing, I was probably a few seconds away from death, when I heard a hum from near me. My plan had been a success after all, the fasces was shattered as well, and was slowly getting brighter and brighter, and I could hear Python screaming out in pain. In a burst of light, we were both gone.
I don’t quite remember being dead. I didn’t have any thoughts, not even a haiku crossed my mind. The only reason I knew I was still there was the pain. It got duller and fuller over time, and I started to worry if that meant I was fading away, out of existence. But even then, that barely concerned me. I knew Python was gone, I had done my job. If I faded away now, it didn’t matter, my friends were alive and safe.
And then suddenly I was alive. The first thing I saw was my sister. She was sitting next to me, arm around my shoulder like she did when we were little. “I’m glad you’re here.” I had never heard those words from Artemis before. I started to tear up. “Zeus wants to see you.”
It took me a while to remember how, but I appeared in my father’s palace, right in front of him. I saw his glowering expression. Then I heard his stern, familiar tone. “You were not supposed to die. It took all I had to bring you back this much, but even now…
“You’re still a god, but not powerful like you used to be. You’re on the level of the most minor of deities, not an Olympian. I know this must be very upsetting to you.”
The strangest thing was, it wasn’t. I had lost my status, most of my power, I should be furious at how diminished I’ve become, but it didn’t bother me in the slightest. Alarming, to say the least.
For some reason, my mind kept drifting back to Camp-Half Blood. My children, all the others I had saved, and my brother, Dionysus, still stuck there. It was odd how happy he had been, just to have someone else to work with. I hadn’t seen him that excited since he was first sent to that camp. I had laughed at the time, but now I think his punishment was no better than mine.
Zeus cleared his throat. “Well, at least you’ve learned your lesson now.” I looked at my father, the man who had caused all of this in the first place. “I’ve learned many lessons, Father.”
“I’m glad you’ve learned how to respect me now, Apollo.” Suddenly I was overcome with anger. This… god consistently refused to take responsibility for his actions, and never took into account anyone’s feelings but his own. He was callous, and egotistical, and awful.
But, that’s just what I was like before my journey, wasn’t it? I was just as awful as he is. But I’m better than that now. I don’t have to go back to the way I was, I can make changes. We gods always said we were stuck as we were, that we needed mortals to change things, or we would keep repeating our history forever.
But the truth is, we could have changed at any time, we just refused to accept that we were the same as humans. We refused to accept that we could be wrong, in need of changes. We just continued pretending we were perfect, because we are cowards. I was a coward. But not anymore. And I am going to write my own prophecy, change my future.
“No, actually, I think that’s the one class I skipped.” He furrowed his brow. “What. Did. You. Say.”
“You need to release Dionysus from his post at Camp-Half Blood. Now.” Thunder roared throughout mount Olympus. “That insolent child hasn’t served his full punishment yet!”
“Doesn’t matter. I’ll be taking over his post effective immediately.”
When I appeared at Camp-Half Blood that day, I kept myself invisible at first. I wanted to see what was going on at camp before I made my presence known. The scenery was always beautiful, but now I looked at it with a sense of nostalgia. Not just as a place to pop in and show off to the young demigods. But as a home.
The first thing I spotted was, in fact, spotted. It was my brother, in his usual ugly leopard print shirt. The second thing I spotted was Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase, at camp. I had last heard they were at Camp Jupiter, but they were here now.
Percy and Dionysus were arguing loudly with each other. I caught a snippet of it. “Look Mr. D, me and Annabeth were on the other side of the country, you can’t just teleport us here on a whim!” Dionysus sighed. “It’s not a whim, Peter Johnson, I brought you two here so you could hear my big announcement! Ah, speaking of!”
He amplified his voice, and began. “Attention campers! Please proceed to the courtyard immediately, I have a very important announcement to make!”
Head counselors shuffled kids out of their cabins until everyone was in the courtyard. I heard some kids muttering things like “ugh, this better not be another end of the world.”
Mr. D cleared his throat. “Now that I have your attention, see you losers!” There were cries of confusion from the crowd. “That’s right, Zeus has lifted my punishment early, which means I don’t have to take care of you brats anymore!” He looked almost giddy. He looked to where I was standing, invisible, because of course gods can see each other, and gave me a nod of gratitude, before disappearing in a flash, leaving behind a cluster of grapes. I had the feeling he wasn’t coming back.
The camp fully erupted into chaos, children freaking out left and right. Even the oldest around were confused, this was new territory even for them. A young child ended the chaos by crying out “who’s gonna be in charge of the camp?” The campers paused for a moment, before turning their heads to all look at Percy Jackson.
The poor boy looked almost ready to cry. He so desperately wanted to be done with everything, to have a normal life, go to college with his girlfriend. He didn’t want to spend his whole life at this camp. But he sighed, and said “if I have to step up, I will.”
In a flash of golden light, I made myself visible. “That’s very noble of you, Percy, but it won’t be necessary.” The whole crowd was stunned. I had to smile. Despite it all, I still loved a good dramatic entrance. I heard a familiar voice from the crowd say “Lester?”
I had never been so happy to see a little girl with a terrible pageboy haircut. I did a little wave and said “hi Meg,” weakly.
“I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?” She yelled across the courtyard, but I could see she was smiling.
It occurred to me that I still looked like Lester, and even more surprising, that I hadn’t cared to check. I used to spend hours a day agonizing over what form I took, but it hadn’t crossed my mind this whole time. Even stranger, I didn’t feel like changing to someone more handsome. This Lester form felt somehow fitting to me, like I wouldn’t want to change it at all.
“I kinda did die, but I’m back now, and immortal again. But I’m not Apollo. I’m not anywhere near as powerful as I used to be. I’m not even on the Olympian council anymore.”
“Wait, then there’s an empty spot?” Annabeth asked. “An unbalanced council isn’t good.” I nodded my head. “Yes, that’s why I yielded the post to Hestia. I figured she deserved a turn back in the spotlight.”
Percy grinned. “Wow, man, that’s a lot to give up.”
I sighed. “Yes, it is.” I turned back to Meg, tears welling in my eyes. “It’s good to see you again.” She wiped a tear away from her eye. “Well, are you gonna lead us or not?” I smiled. Never change, Meg, never change.
“Right. I’m running this camp now, and you will see some major changes.” The campers looked nervous, probably remembering Mr. D and all his ideas.
“For starters, I’m creating a parents day here at Camp-Half Blood, twice a summer. I understand that some of you don’t have great relationships with your parents, but there are many who do and wish to see them. For those campers, we will provide safe travel so your parents can be here to see you.”
Some kids looked very excited, especially younger ones who had just been pulled away from their parents. I looked up to the sky for this next point. “And also, attendance from godly parents is mandatory!” The sky rumbled with loud thunder. “Don’t try to fight me on this! You all have infinite time and can be in multiple places at once, there’s no reason you can’t be there for your children for a couple of hours!”
The younger campers definitely all looked ecstatic at that, the prospect of meeting their godly parents. The older campers, though more jaded, still smiled at the idea of their parents being there for them. The kids were all chattering excitedly amongst themselves, until one piped up. “What about quests?”
This was the question I’d been dreading, because I didn’t have a good answer for it. I paused. “Quests and prophecies are an unavoidable part of life as a young hero. However, I am aware of how dangerous and traumatizing they can be. So I am instating a policy. If you have gone on a quest, you do not ever have to go on another. You are allowed to opt out, and the gods have promised they will not hold it against you.”
A half-hearted clap of thunder pulsed through the camp. Percy and Annabeth gave me grateful looks.
“Any more questions?” I asked the camp. My son Will raised his hand. “Yeah, what do we call you? You’re not Apollo anymore, and I’m guessing Mr. A isn’t right either, so who are you exactly?”
That was tricky. I didn’t quite know yet. I was certainly still immortal, yet I felt human, so human. But I think I was starting to get the idea.
“I’m Lester. God of Camp-Half Blood.”

life in jackson could be described as fairly easy - slow and consistent. the people who were living there never actually left and there weren't many people that would move into the city. most people you've known since they were the ones living inside the walls ever since you had come there.
some of the children were born there, yet most of the people came to the settlement as the time passed, seeking protection from the fireflies, infected or bandits. and so far, so good. the settlement was started by maria, tommy's wife, and her father a long time ago. when tommy left the fireflies in search of a normal, peaceful life, he ran into wyoming, finding this place. before their hard work, it was quite hard to manage - they needed to protect the settlement, build walls around it and make sure the people in there were safe, yet the young married couple was way more ambitious.
they wanted to make the old hydroelectric power station work again and that was one of the settlement's biggest projects to date. and to the wonder of everyone, they made it work again, so jackson had a stable supply of electricity almost every day. except for huge storms, which you all were waiting for to end sitting in the dinner, telling each other stories in the light of candles and so. these occasions were fun.
the city was independent - you had your cattle, horses, hens, and pigs, you had women who could sew clothes and make fabrics, you had a few men who were capable of making a gun. also, your mechanics were capable of making a few old cars work if the things would get really bad. in spring and summer, you always made sure to harvest vegetables and fruits, hunting throughout the winter mostly. you had a school and a kind-of-a-cinema when you were bored. for existing in a post-apocalyptic world, jackson was fairly normal.
and though you never got to know your parents, you had amelia. this lady was pretty old in the time she found you — she wasn't that kind of a brutal survivor who would bash someone's skull, twist her knife inside someone's body, or shoot them dead. she was the quiet traveler who was purposely avoiding big cities, who was traveling through woods and walked among rivers to see where her road will lead her. from the moment you bumped into each other, you became friends. family even. but once you got bit, she almost shot you. until she found out you were immune.
you and amelia didn't know what to do, but once amelia caught word of an old man and a 14-year-old immune girl traveling to the fireflies in salt lake city, you two went to find them. it took a few months to find them, the two of you almost giving up after taking shelter in what you thought was an abandoned apartment in pittsburgh.
SUMMER OF 2033:
"y/n, in here." amelia called for you quietly, gesturing to the apartment inside. you nodded, glancing behind you before quickly moving inside and locking the door.
you let out a sigh of relief, readjusting your ponytail and checking out the apartment. amelia jumped in front of you, pulling out her handgun, "get behind me, sugar." she whispered, softly moving towards the bedroom where she heard noises.
once she opened the door, the two of you aimed your guns at the people inside, two dark skinned boys, one around your age at the time and an older man with a red haired girl also around your age.
"amelia, they're not bad." you say, lowering your gun slowly to look at them better. the older woman glances at you before putting her gun down too.
the young man steps forward with his hand outstretched towards you, "i'm henry, who are you?" he asks nervously, glancing
you look up at him, then glance at amelia. she nods, signaling that it's okay, "i'm y/n." you respond with a small smile.
henry grins a bit, gesturing to the others, "we all just met but, this is joel," he starts, gesturing to the older man in the flannel, "this is ellie, and this is my little brother sam." henry finishes, gesturing to the girl and the boy.
"amelia and y/n." amelia introduces, gesturing to her then you. "sorry for the, uh, abrupt entrance. we thought this apartment was empty." she laughs nervously, fidgeting with the hem of her shirt.
"no worries. we were about to head out anyway." henry starts, beginning to walk out. "wait, would you two like to come with us?" we're planning on getting out of this city tonight."
you and amelia look at each other before she turns her head towards the henry again, "i don't thi—"
"amelia, c'mon! safety in numbers, remember." you remind her, crossing your arms over your chest and looking at her knowingly.
the woman scoffs and shakes her head, looking at her lap for a moment, "fine, okay, we'll join you guys."
upon leaving the apartment, you, sam, and ellie began to talk to each other. once you found out she was 14, like the immune girl, you went up to amelia while you were waiting in henry's "office".
"amelia, can i talk to you for a second?" you whisper to her, gesturing to a quieter spot. amelia's eyebrows furrow in confusion as she looks away from the outside to you, nodding.
once in a quieter spot, you tell amelia your hypothesis about ellie and joel, them being the two you’ve been searching the country for, "no, no way. they're probably just father and daughter."
"don't daughters usually call their fathers dad instead of their actual names?" you ask her, irritated while your arms fold over your chest. amelia stares at you blankly, hands resting on her knees. "this is the man and the immune girl we're searching for, amelia. we have to tell—"
"guys?" a voice calls into the room, making yours and amelia's head shoot towards the sound. it's sam. "henry says it's time to go." sam tells you two awkwardly.
amelia sighs heavily, rising from her place on the desk and looking at you, "you and i will finish this conversation later."
that conversation never went as well as you hoped, you and ellie finding out that you both are immune in the radio station during a slow game of truth or dare. neither of you knew what it was, but henry gave you the basic gist of it.
ellie was thrilled to know she wasn't the only immune person, and she wasn't alone in that area. after losing henry and sam the morning after, you four headed off to find joel's brother, tommy in wyoming after finding a car.
after finding tommy and heading to the university of eastern colorado, things only got more rough from there. joel and amelia both got impaled, barely making it out of the science building alive before getting on their horses and passing out. resulting in you and ellie panicking before getting yourselves together and finding a nearby town to stay at for the winter.
during that winter, you encountered david, and his friend carl. you and ellie almost lost your lives after getting captured by them, then joel and amelia swooped in saving you and ellie from becoming the monsters you both fear.
the rest of the journey carried into the spring, you, joel, ellie, and amelia becoming much closer during the time from winter to spring. once you all got to the firefly hospital and joel and amelia found out what the cost for the vaccine was, they saved you and ellie.
you both had become to loved and valuable to them, neither wanting to bear the loss of another child. and they lied to you both to keep you safe. so after they took out most of the fireflies in the hospital, including their leader, marlene, you all headed back to tommy's, to jackson.
you and ellie both stopped the elders before entering jackson, "hey, wait." ellie called, looking to you for a bit of comfort.
amelia and joel turned around, looking at the two of you. you bit your lip as ellie started talking, "back in boston — back when i was bitten... i wasn't alone." she reveals, glancing between joel and amelia.
"my best friend, riley, was there and she got bit too." ellie tells everyone.
"and i was with my best friend, carly." you tell the group, fidgeting with your fingers. "we didn't know what to do. so, she says 'let's just wait it out. y'know we can be all poetic and lose our minds together. we're still waiting for our turn."
"then it was tess." ellie states, fidgeting with her fingers anxiously.
"then henry and sam—" you continue the statement for her.
"none of that is on you." amelia states, stepping a bit closer to you and ellie.
"no, you don't understand." ellie says sadly, rubbing her face.
joel suddenly steps forward, "i struggled for a long time with survivin', and you-" he briefly clutches his watch. "no matter what, you keep finding something to fight for. now, i know that's not what you want to hear right now but it's—"
you shake your head, looking away before turning back at joel, "swear to us." you interrupt, looking between the two adults seriously. "swear to us that everything that you said about the fireflies is true."
joel and amelia look between you and ellie with a hesitant look, "we swear." she says to you two, placing a hand on joel's shoulder.
you and ellie take a pause, processing everything before looking back at amelia and joel, nodding, "okay." you say together.
MARCH 2ND, 2038:
that was how you got into jackson. the first months there were pretty weird to you - the city had rules, schedule and they gave you food every morning, midday and evening, calling it breakfast, lunch, and dinner. the first week, you spent with vomiting since your food wasn't used to eat regularly. it was also pretty hard trying to trust strangers before you realized they don't mean you any harm. amelia was immediately capable of working at their farm with their animals, while you were getting the jobs like cleaning up mess or help in the kitchen - which meant that you didn't see each other that much.

but after last night you and ellie went your ways after the talk with joel and amelia. there were many exchanged glances as she walked you home although you insisted you were fine. when you stood in the doorway of your house, ellie kissed your cheek before waving goodbye shyly.
a knock wakes you out of your sleep, groaning as you sit up and walk to the door, "just a minute! geez." you call out, walking to the door while scratching the back of your neck tiredly.
once you open it, you see dina. your other best friend, "hey dina." you yawn, squeezing the door handle as you look at your friend who's already dressed. "oh shit-"
"yep. hurry up and get ready, stupid." dina grins, stepping inside and sitting on your couch as you head into the bathroom with a new set of clothes. "maria also wants to talk to you."
stepping out of the bathroom, you reload your pistol and grab your switchblade that joel made you, "alright, dina, let's go."
she nods, opening the door as both of you step out into the cold air, "are joel and amelia up yet? or ellie?" you ask curiously.
"tommy and amelia went out early for patrol. something about a herd or infected up north, i don't know where joel is, and ellie, is still asleep. like ellie." dina tells you as you nod in understanding, chuckling at the last part of her sentence. "are you four... good?"
you glance up at her, sighing, "yeah, i guess so." you shrug, looking away and itching your nose.
once you and dina get downtown, she leads you into a restaurant, "this way." she says, motioning towards the nearly empty restaurant.
once you two enter, dina walks away to socialize with the others. you glance at her anxiously as she just smirks, shooing you in maria's direction.
"hey, y/n! over here!" maria calls from across the bar, making you groan and walk over unenthusiastically.
you walk to maria, "yes?" you ask, rubbing your face with your gloved hands.
"seth has something he wants to say to you." maria tells you, glancing towards the kitchen.
you glare at maria, irritated, "i don't wanna hear what that bigot has to say."
maria looks at you with an unreadable expression, "do it for me, please?" she asks gently.
you scan her face over, and sigh, resting your foot on a small crate, "fine."
"seth! seth, come here." maria calls towards the kitchen.
"fuck me." you mutter under your breath, as you look up.
seth walks out of the kitchen sheepishly, with something in his hands, "hey. look last night, i was drinking too much." seth starts, making you scoff quietly.
"sure." you say in disbelief, crossing your arms as you rest your right leg on the stool next to you.
"i'm trying to say i'm sorry!" seth exclaims, getting more irritated with you. "maria tells me that you and dina are heading out." he tells you, making you glance back at dina. "i made you two some sandwiches." he reveals.
seth places the sandwiches on the bar counter, giving them a pat before scooching them towards you.
"okay." you mumble, staring at him awkwardly.
"they're steak." seth informs you, gesturing towards the sandwiches you haven't taken yet.
maria gets tired of the awkward silence as she takes the sandwiches as she shoves them into your chest, "thank you, seth." she says assertively, scaring seth back into the kitchen.
turning around with the sandwiches, you bump into dina, "what've you got there?" she asks curiously as you shove the sandwiches into her hands.
"some... surprisingly decent looking bigot sandwiches." you scoff, dusting off your pants while looking around the outside room.
dina lifts them to her nose, taking a whiff, "they smell absolutely scrumptious." she says in a fake posh accent, making you laugh as she secretly throws them away.
"come on you two, time to go." maria calls from the doorway of the restaurant, gesturing to the outside. "y/n, i need to talk to you for a minute before i head back inside."
you stop next to maria, gesturing for dina to go ahead without you as she closes the door, "are you amelia and joel good?" maria asks quietly, making you roll your eyes. "they seemed to be in a better mood this morn—"
"we're fine maria." you interrupt her, your eyes closing in annoyance as you're getting tired of this question.
the blonde woman puts her hands up, "just wanted to make sure. i worry y'know." she chuckles, bringing you into a short embrace. you nods, pulling away, "go find dina." she tells you heading into the restaurant as you head on your way.
you find dina and overhear how she's about to start a snowball fight with a bunch of the kids. you sneak up behind the kids, snowball in hand. dina glances up and spots you, making you put a finger over your mouth to shush her. she looks back at the kids, egging them on as you come up and headshot a girl named, isabella.
this made the kids go feral, sending them to one side of the playground as you and dina hid on the other side, laughing your asses off.
you and dina played with the kids for around fifteen minutes before you heard ellie's voice. you turned around and saw jesse, waving politely at him before returning to the game.
"dina! come on! you and i are paired for patrol today." jesse calls out to his ex, making her roll her eyes before heading out of the playground, following jesse.
"hey, y/n! can i talk to you?" a familiar voice called, you turn your head to see ellie. you smile and wave at her before putting the snowball fight on a pause so you could talk to her.
"hey." you say breathlessly, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
"hey." ellie responds awkwardly, tapping on the wooden fence.
"i just wanna say sorry for ditching you after the... thing last night." ellie apologizes, making you tilt your head in confusion.
"oh, no, it's okay. i totally get it. i- i just- i felt bad." you tell her, looking at her apologetically while fidgeting with your fingers.
ellie shakes her head lightly, "why?"
"because, i started the whole thing and i... i just shouldn't have kissed you in front all those people and—"
"no! it's okay, you were drunk." ellie says, laughing off the light embarrassment.
"well, still i don't want you to think—" you start before ellie interrupts your once more, making you chuckle lightly.
"no, i'm not reading into it or anything." ellie tells you, making you shake your head.
you look up at ellie, smiling softly, "you know what i love about you?" you start, making ellie blush a little. "how you let me finish my sentences."
ellie chuckles, shaking her head, "alright. well, we should probably get going." you nod, before a snowball nails ellie right in the shoulder. "ow!"
you turn around angrily, glaring at the kids, "what the fuck?!" you exclaims at them, making them giggle.
"i'm not even playing!" ellie yells at them.
"cause you're a chicken?" one of the kids yells out, making the rest taunt ellie playfully.
"i hate those kids so much." ellie mutters to you irritated, making you look at her mischievously.
"you wanna fuck 'em up?" you ask evilly, giving ellie a side glance.
ellie looks to see if anyone's coming before nodding, "yeah, i do." ellie leaps over the fence as you both start playfully shouting at them.
"you asked for it!" you yell at them.
"you better run you little shits!" ellie exclaims, you and her taking cover behind a structure.
the game was the first to ten hits wins, it took you and ellie a minute, but you beat to little shits 10/3.
"no fair!" isabella whines, wiping the snow off her coat.
you spread your arms out victoriously, "eat it shrimps! how's it feel?" you brag to them, making them all run up and tackle you. "you'll never get away with this!" you yell happily as they dog pile on you before ellie comes and rips one off.
"get off of her you little monsters!" the red haired girl exclaims, making them scurry away before helping you up.
"i guess i asked for that huh?" you ask your friend, heading towards the gate.
"yep." she deadpans at you, making you smile. you both exit the playground, heading to the stables. "so, jesse wants us to do the creek trails. he's gonna relieve amelia and tommy."
"oh, okay. that's nice he assigned us together." you tell ellie, greeting the lady at the front of the stables. "you're gonna like this one."
someone yells to you and ellie they'll take your horses in so you can grab them. yelling out a quick thanks, you head over to grab your horse, moon. walking to the east gate, you pet his neck, greeting him.
"look who decided to join us." jesse tease you and ellie, making you roll your eyes.
"ha ha, you're so funny." you tease back, elbowing him gently in the side and taking your rifle from him.
"open it up!" he yells up at the gate keepers. "settle down. alright. you all know the drill." he assumes, looking to all the patrol groups. "run your routes, mark your logbooks, clear any infected you see. you run into anything you can't handle, you come back." jesse tells everyone. "be smart about it. alright, get going."
you and ellie glance at each other with a small nod, getting on your horses and riding off towards the creek trails.
