I felt so freed when I realised that womahood is anything that I, as a human female, experience or have experienced.

As a young adult I felt alienated from femininity because I felt significantly comfier in loose-fitting clothes and no makeup. And someone said to me that maybe I’m agender? At the time I thought about it, and it made me realise that no, that didn’t make sense for me - my clothes and cosmetic choices don’t define my reality as a woman lol.

A woman is whatever I am - hairy or not, performing gender roles or not - simply because I’m a human of the female sex. My life experience is by-default an experience of womanhood, whatever that might look like for me. It’s not limited to any set of rules, and DEFINITELY not something as shallow as appearances and learned/conditioned stereotypes “about womanhood”. Just my 2 cents, the other anon asking about it reminded me of it.

This series is amazing! I love the character depth you added to Slate and his ... death? But my question is, why is Era of the Wild Zelda (do you have a different name for her?) so jaded in the last bit? Was there something Loft did that I missed? It seemed like everything was done with good intentions, and Zelda would have noticed that.

here’s what I was thinking when I wrote the scene, and sorry for writing a bit of an essay lol: Loft did have good intentions, and both Zelda and Slate know that. But there’s also a whole tangled mess of reasons why they’re both pretty put out with him about it anyway, most of which he could have never known the context of, but kind of stumbled into trampling all over anyway by being so bullheaded. (To be fair, Loft has his own complicated reasons for acting the way he does here, but that’s not what this post is about)

For Zelda, she’s had a long time to come to terms with the struggle over her sealing power, the things her father said and did, the tragedy of Everything, etc— but the thing about being in limbo fighting tooth and nail for so long is that it makes all that trauma feel both like ancient history and as soon as yesterday. So for Loft to a) inadvertently (and he really didn’t mean it like this, but that’s what it sounded like) imply the sealing power she suffered so much over wasn’t even enough and b) pressure Slate about his inability to access his own divine power,,,,it rankles. Regardless of whether Loft meant it that way, that’s how it felt from her point of view. She’s also just, like, kind of protective of Slate about things like this.

ohhh thats a tough question. Im gonna take the cowards way out and say its a tossup between three- Sniper, Spy, and Soldier.

Sniper is usually my default go-to girl to draw when i wanna draw the girls but dont know what to do. Quinn’s just all lanky and long shapes and those are the easiest for me to work with. I love Spy’s stupid fuckin face. She’s really fun to draw because i love drawing her in stupid poses and fun expressions. And boss is. Well. You know. She’s big and buff and also 5’0” and goes red-faced when women with 10-20 years on her call her “sweetheart” I LOVE my fail lesbian

Pale's redesign just happened because I wanted to treat them both equally tbh. I couldn't give Template a shiny new ref sheet and leave Pale hanging like that ovo;

I really like the older design because of the implications of it. Besides, canonically Pale can wear pretty much everything you want him to, so I just took the opportunity to play with some design ideas. I think he looks pretty cool with the new look!
