i think my favorite sibling moment in the entirety of the umbrella academy is when five comes to collect klaus to stop the apocalypse before they find allison and they’re talking about how reginald always warned them about the apocalypse when they were kids. and klaus is like “yeah i always thought he just said that to scare us into doing the dishes” and five goes “me too” with that somewhat delighted tone of voice like he’s surprised and validated that he and his siblings were on the same page about yet another one of the bullshit things their dad put them through as kids and i just. siblings commiserating over their bizarre and terrible childhood as adults when they never dared to reach out to each other as kids 🥺

#is anyone surprised that my favorite sibling moment is centered around klaus and five or have you never met me before... #the umbrella academy #klaus hargreeves #five #love them #it's just such a cute and unimportant line but i love the delivery on it #and that feeling of reminiscing fondly about some frankly horrible moments in their shared childhood #i feel like reginald probably tried very hard to build them up as a team and divide them as a family #couldn't have them all bonding too much and getting ideas in their head about opposing him #(let's be real if they had the chance to bond as a unit and the motivation to turn on him reginald would have been TOAST and he knew it) #so they probably spent some of their childhoods slightly unsure of how to acknowledge what they were going through #even after they realized it was Not Normal and not Good #and i don't think five and klaus were SUPER close as kids so they likely never talked about this kind of thing #it just amuses me that 15 & 45 years later respectively they're both like 'oh wait you thought dad was just being dramatic and insane too?' #because at the point that five left they probably were still in that building awareness of how fucked up their lives were #without the open rebellion and rejection of it that came in the later teenage years #so they hadn't ever had this conversation before #okay i think i'm done now i didn't mean to go off quite like that oops
