it's pretty implied that ellie never came out to joel in the proper sense. she lets him assume that she's into men, gives him the false satisfaction of "seeing" her "crush" on jesse, does not correct him. she's fairly confident in being gay in public for others to see and having others close to her know; so why not correct him? why dodge the topic?
was it out of fear? could it be that she never broached the topic despite being close to him in the early years because of the possibility of his reaction being negative? that she was afraid that out of all things that could force them apart (further apart after they split), him reacting badly to her being gay would be the worst?
what about at the dance? would she have been as wound up as she was if the moment hadn't been an encounter with a vicious homophobe? maybe she would've still snapped without this context, but why is she immediately on the defensive against joel after he sticks up for her?
what about the porch scene? why did she refute his question of dina being her girlfriend so insecurely, looking away, nervously and quietly stumbling over words? why isn't she mean about it? why doesn't she get defensive at the question? why did she lash out again when he expressed acceptance?
i think these scenes revolving around her queerness indicate it as such; that ellie never told joel for fear of a response, that she lets him think what he wants because that's the easiest way for it to be. then, when she's ready to face off against a homophobe, because that's the way things are, that's what she can expect, and joel defends her, she lashes out.
it's such a clear juxtaposition of support and hatred between joel and seth, and being faced with joel's acceptance is too much, makes her turn to the anger she'd been holding onto and reinforce what she thinks is true -- that she doesn't need him. and in the fallout, as her regret dawns on her, so too does the realization; he was protecting her, like always, without hesitation, over this thing she was always afraid he wouldn't accept her for.
in the porch scene, joel chooses his words wisely, and asks if dina is her girlfriend -- not "so you're gay?" or "why did you never tell me?" or "how long has this been a thing?" -- with such a casuality that it seems to throw her off. it's like ellie can hardly get the words out. she refutes the idea, fumbles for each following part of her response, is tense. she wasn't prepared for the question.
and when he finally asserts his support for her, in as explicit terms as he can, you can see ellie become emotional, touched for a moment but overcome, before she launches into the defensive again, exactly like at the dance scene -- meeting his kindness with hostility as a way to cope with her emotions.
and then, in response to her basically saying her life doesn't matter, he affirms that it does.
so he's now affirmed two things that ellie has doubted: that he accepts her being a lesbian, and that her life matters. a conflation of the two, in ellie's mind, may have come after; and after that, her olive branch.
and yeah, him affirming these things for her is fully in the context of his overwhelming parental love for her and her complex feelings about being the cure, but within a queer subtext, it means more. it's such a familiar thing to slink around loved ones and hide being gay/queer for fear of any type of response, and lying by omission in conversation just to keep that state of peace, of normalcy. ellie, with all her brutishness and bravery, falls into it like anyone else, because even while mad at him, she valued that response from him.
a lot of people seem to think that the approach to ellie's queerness is nonchalant, that it's just some unrelated thing about her, but i think that it holds more weight in the narrative that what is explicitly spelled out. it's subtle but it was a deliberate choice to place her queerness at the center of the confrontation. i think that's why ellie's relationship with dina took center stage in the story, and why so much time is devoted to just them -- because her being queer matters to her character, but in a way that perhaps only a queer person can see, analyze, and appreciate (without being blatant enough to anger certain other fans).

How Dethklok shows their love to you
Nathan Explosion
Tumblr media
We all know about Nathan’s tendency to hyper focus on his current interest; mans got strong feeling and he wants to let everyone know just how happy you make him. So he shows you off, every chance he gets. Especially to the paparazzi. Once he’s settled into the relationship, he’s getting all cuddly and smiley in front of the cameras, quite rare for the media to see. He calls his parents nearly every week just to brag about you, it’s so sweet.
Motherfucking Nathan Explosion. One of the biggest names in the world, certainly the biggest in music and entertainment. A man who handcrafted a revolution of lyrics and rhythm. A man the world worships and the population craves. And yet, when he’s real smitten for someone, it’s awfully easy to make him shy. Just small, flirty things will get his face beet red and stuttering over his words in an instant, so incredibly enamored with everything you do. Whisper some sweet-nothings to him and he’ll become putty in your hands.
Nathan is very…specific when it comes to most aspects in life. He’s picky and stubborn and usually has his mind set for any decisions. But, you, as his S/O, own his utmost trust. So, before the final choice is made, he makes sure to get your opinion on it. Whether it’s small things or large decisions, he wants to hear what you think and will definitely take it into consideration. You have the ability to loosen him up on some settlements, much to Charles’ thanks.
Okay, the end of season 4 was an exaggeration, but Nathan does have a difficult time admitting when he’s wrong. Apologizing just really pokes at his large yet fragile ego. But, when he finally gets rid of some pride and realizes he fucked up with you, he’ll make the effort to apologize. Even if it’s not directly, you’ll get little gifts and gestures that lets you know that he really is sorry.
Pickles The Drummer
Tumblr media
This one’s kinda silly, but here me out; Growing up, all of Pickle’s possessions were either hand-me-downs, stolen by Seth, or taken away as punishment from his parents. He didn’t get many stuff that was his. So, as an adult who could have all the material possessions he wants, he’s become a bit greedy. Until pretty lil you came up and stole his heart from him. At that point, he’s practically forcing himself to share everything with you. Food, clothes, anything. Something about seeing you with his stuff makes him feel really good inside.
Worries about you. Hoo-boy, as much as he hates to admit it, he’s got total mom brain when it comes to anxiety. Anytime you’re five minutes late or slightly more quiet than usual, he’s darting around, thinking that he somehow messed up and you hate him and now he’s gotta fix it. Please reassure him, he’s gonna give himself an asthma attack.
Pickles, uh, doesn’t have the best memory. Probably from the constant abuse of drugs and alcohol. I don’t think the dude knows anything that happened to him from age 20 to 25. But, he wants to make the effort. So, he’ll remember the little things about you, basic likes and dislikes, something you said, etc. When he acts upon it, like buying some of your favorite food, and you get all happy about it, he’s so proud of himself. He loves making you happy.
“Punch first, ask later. Or don’t ask at all.”That’s how he lives a whole lot of his life, especially in bars or parties. MF got some agitation issues. But when you get involved? Someone looks at you even slightly wrong? They’re getting their asses beat, he’ll defend the shit out of you.
In addition to that^…He’s definitely used to getting a ton of shit from his family and he just takes it. Because they don’t really like Pickles, there’s a good chance Seth and his parents will hate you and they’ll let you know it. This is when he cracks down. He yells at them for several minutes about what a wonderful person you are, what shitty people they are, and that they can talk about him all they want but not you. Definitely scares them straight.
Toki Wartooth
Tumblr media
Oh, man does Toki love to spoil you! The way your face lights up when he manages to get you another perfect (and expensive) gift makes his heart flutter. He’s very good at it to; buying you things you didn’t even know you wanted but always cherish. He especially likes to get you custom-made stuff, something very cheesy.
He has a bit of a hyperactive mind, without something specific to focus on, he’ll constantly be bouncing around. But, despite this, he absolutely loves to listen to you in a way he can’t with other people. While he’s putting together a model or coloring or maybe practicing guitar (once in a blue moon), he likes to have you there, just ranting while he nods along. Even if he doesn’t get all the details, the sound of your voice is enough for him.
When you’re around him, he’s pretty much always going to be touching you. Sometimes it’s small things, like holding hands, knees together under a table, occasional cheek kisses. Other times, he’s practically hanging onto you like a sloth. Additionally, he absolutely loves to scoop you up at random moments and just hold you for a while. He’s strong, he can handle it.
It’s very clear that Toki is a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to love. Even if it’s unrealistic, he will often imagine a future with you, the classic getting married, having children, growing old. A nice, suburban, and perfect lifestyle. He knows that he can’t ever get rid of his rock n roll persona, but there’s a piece of him that’s completely dedicated to simply loving you for the rest of his days.
Skwisgaar Skwigelf
Tumblr media
First of all; it’s going to take a while to establish yourself as more than just some sex to Skwisgaar. He needs to know you’re not someone trying to brag that they fucked a rockstar. Once he realizes that’s you mean something to him (and vice versa), he relaxes! He gets vulnerable, gets emotional and cuddly and more romantic than you’d expect! He no longer has to keep up the persona, you see the side of him that no one else really does.
Along with this, he’s willing to be more silly than with you! He’s got an even bigger ego than Nathan and hates to look like a fool in front of all his fans. But when he’s around you, he allows himself to make some jokes, mess up a few times and laugh about it. Seeing you laugh makes the small amount of humiliation worth it to him.
Skwisgaar has practically heard it all when it comes to compliments; he’s an international sex symbol and a music mastermind, after all. There’s nothing he hasn’t been praised for. So, he thinks it’s only natural that he compliments the hell out of you just like others do to him. From wake to sleep, he’s giving you all sorts of flattery on how you look and congratulates you on every accomplishment, no matter how small. He likes to feel proud of his darling and makes sure you know it.
Despite him having a long line of past lovers behind him, Skwisgaar gets jealous very easily. Call it a toxic trait, but he’ll flirt with anyone he sees while glaring at anyone who sees you. And his glares are proven to be lethal. Just be careful, cause he can have anyone he deems ‘too touchy’ with you assassinated with the flick of a wrist.
William Murderface
Tumblr media
William thinks he’s soo lucky to have you in the first place, he practically worships the ground you walk on. His mind is pretty much on you every moment of the day; every dream he has at night is about you. He’s obsessed with the way you look, the way you act, he’s always staring at you with a dumb, happy smile on his face. Anything you need, he’ll make it happen for you.
I personally feel that he’s a lot smarter than he seems; particularly about history, historical weaponry, and cars. So, when he gets the chance, you get your ass he’s gonna rant to you about all the random stuff that’s up in his brain. He’s an extreme pessimist by nature, but when he’s speaking about the things he truly cares about, he’s seems so enthusiastic and energized, even more so when you actively listen and ask questions.
While Murderface certainly talks a lot, he doesn’t really…express, you know? Most of his conversations are surface-level and to the point. But when he’s comfortable with you, he likes to have deep conversations about things most people think he’s too stupid to care about. Ethics, philosophy, religion. He’s no expert, but everyone has their own beliefs. He wants to share his and to hear yours. Sometimes, he gets really into it, occasionally crying. These moments are important to him and he loves to be with you during them.
Let’s admit it; William isn’t conventionally handsome in anyway. A good reason for that is because he simply doesn’t care or have the patience for proper hygiene. Still, he wants to really impress you, so he starts taking care of himself more. He gets some better products, puts a little more thought into how he dresses, even eats slightly better. It’s not a big difference, but it’s something and it’s noticeable over time.
Bonus^ If you have a skincare routine, he’s going to be right next to you, mesmerized by all the creams and serums and cleansers. Even better if you apply some to him, he gets so soft.

Two months prior to its release, would-be doyens of Swift’s Tortured Poets Department have taken its barbed track listing very literally, leading to intense, often nefarious speculation regarding Swift’s six-year relationship with the British actor Joe Alwyn, which seemingly ended in early 2023.
The album’s title, revealed onstage at the Grammy awards, was quickly linked to a December, 2022 interview with Alwyn and Paul Mescal in which they revealed that Andrew Scott started their group chat, the Tortured Man Club. (“It hasn’t had much use recently,” Alwyn said: you wonder if it’s undergone a recent revival.) Swift revealed the leading track list a day later: My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys, So Long, London, I Can Do It With a Broken Heart, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, to name a few, sending fans wild with speculation.
Swift, obviously, has every right to sing about her relationships however she wants to (no apologies to Eamonn Holmes). But in the absence of any music, some fans have spread baseless, dangerous and even libellous allegations about Alwyn’s conduct (which, for obvious reasons, I can’t repeat).
Last month, a brief fan-shot video of them dining in a New Orleans restaurant in December, 2022 was recirculated online with AI-doctored audio that made it sound as though Alwyn is saying “you don’t get to tell me about sad,” a line printed on the back of one of the new album’s four physical editions.
When Swift recently told a crowd that she was “lonely” when writing her 2020 album Folklore – some of which was co-written with Alwyn during the pandemic, a lonely time for most – fans took that as further confirmation of their theories. A live medley of three songs that all appear to reference cheating threw petrol on the fire.
Swift could make this stop. She is no stranger to airing her displeasure with the likes of Ticketmaster, Scooter Braun, Spotify and Apple Music, and, occasionally, politicians. Before she released Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) last year, she gave a veiled speech at one Eras tour date effectively asking fans not to go after John Mayer, whom she dated when she was 19 and he was 32 and is understood to be the subject of that album’s Dear John.
“I am not putting this album out so you should feel the need to defend me on the internet against someone you think I wrote a song about 14m years ago when I was 19,” she said in Minneapolis.
But for whatever reason – and obviously, no member of the public has any idea what transpired between her and Alwyn so far – this time she has opted to stay quiet.
Establishing a baseline for conduct is neither commercially risky nor unprecedented: just last week, Ariana Grande said, after the release of her post-divorce album Eternal Sunshine: “Anyone that is sending hateful messages to the people in my life based on your interpretation of this album is not supporting me and is absolutely doing the polar opposite of what I would ever encourage”.
It feels like the endgame of a cat-and-mouse act that’s gone too far. Swift’s gestures towards meaning have led every single thing she does to be considered a kind of marketing, a clue to be solved. It leaves a superstar who’s usually hot on her messaging open to misinterpretation: hints about her personal life are turned by some fans into witch-hunts for anyone perceived to have wronged her; her current silence on politics allows politicians to invoke her name, from the New South Wales police commissioner quoting Swift’s anti-haters lines while defending police to Joe Biden joking that the matter of her apparently much sought-after endorsement is “classified” on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
When Swift made a blandly neutral handwritten post encouraging US citizens to register to vote on Super Tuesday, some fans speculated that her unusual left-leaning handwriting was the real indication of her loyalties – suggesting they’re so starved of substance that they’re reading into empty messages because of this dynamic she has established. (The more likely explanation is the insane way she holds a pen.)
For Swift to only direct fans as to her wishes when it suits her, it weakens her status as a truth-teller. If the comparisons with Dickinson mean anything, she might remember that nothing in the world has as much power as a word feels like the endgame of a cat-and-mouse act that’s gone too far.

Seth Clearwater x Reader: Encouraging
Word Count: 386 Warnings/Notes: Mentions of a fight (Seth defending his sister’s honor), established relationship, face nuzzling, fluff Summary: The Reader is visiting Emily, helping her out in the kitchen when they hear the pack(s) approach. An unnamed pack member made a not-so-nice comment to Leah, resulting in Seth ‘throwing paws’ with them. The Reader praises Seth for defending his sister.
~~~~  ~~~~  ~~~~  ~~~~
   Emily’s house was one of the most welcoming and warmest places that you knew. Especially in Forks. Any social anxiety or nerves were non-existent even on your way over to her residence.    Presently, the timer on the oven began to sound off.    “Would you mind—?” Emily began, still finishing with a few dishes.    “No problem,” you smiled, quickly sliding into the kitchen area.    “Just put them there, please,” she indicated as you took the fresh hot muffins out of the oven.    “How often do you make snacks for the pack?” You asked, carefully placing each muffin on the cooling rack on the counter.    Emily laughed. “Do you really want to know?”    “I suppose not,” you laughed with her. “They are a hungry bunch.”    “Yes, they are.”
   There came a pause as laughter and voices reached your ears.    “Speaking of the boys,” she shook her head humorously.    “Did we accidentally summon them or did they hear us?” You asked in a hushed voice.    The sound of their approaching footsteps became more apparent as they closed in on the house. They slowed when they reached the porch steps. Jogging inside, it was then that you noticed just how chatty and a little winded some of them were.    “What happened?” Emily asked, seeing as Sam and Jacob had walked in with Seth and another boy trailing behind them.    “Seth threw paws ‘cause someone was talking trash to Leah,” Jared answered, taking a seat at the table.    “The nerve,” you gasped, dropping the oven mitts onto the counter.    Glancing at Leah as she leaned against the counter, she gave you a small smile. Her gaze went to her brother with a look of pride.    “Good job, Seth,” you nodded as he neared.    Seth’s face lit up. Practically bouncing the rest of the way to your side, the smile could not be wiped off of his face.    “You’re encouraging this?” Jacob asked, leaning on the far wall.    Wrapping your arm around Seth’s, you answered with great assurance. “Defending his sister? Yes.”    “I meant about the violence, but yeah, I guess,” Jacob mumbled.    A laugh bubbled out of you as Seth nuzzled his face to the side of yours. “This isn’t you trying to get a muffin first is it?”    “No, but it would be nice,” he smiled into your cheek.
~~~~  ~~~~  ~~~~  ~~~~
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed it. If you did, maybe consider reblogging?

ok so I’ve got an idea. I like the thought that some random god finds like an immortal child and then they just leave them with like Seth Anubis Horus or even Isis or Osiris(green screw boy) anyways so because I need a prompt I was thinking Hathor or Ra find a immortal child they leave them with Seth Anubis Horus Isis or Osiris. Thank you and have a wonderful day or night!
I’ll do Seth, Anubis, and Horus but not Osiris because…. Well you know why, and isis because I just don’t feel like adding her 😅 sorry
Also I’m guessing this isn’t yandere as you didn’t seem to have mentioned it so I’ll just be going with no yandere, and I’m also guessing that the reader is gender neutral with how you phrased the reader as them in it though sorry if that wasn’t the case 😅.
Waning: noob author, gn child reader, platonic relationship, and others
Characters: Seth, Anubis, Horus.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seth:
Ra had found you and took a interest in you as she found out that you’re immortal somehow even though she doesn’t remember ever hearing about a god Turing a child immortal and in fact don’t remember her doing that either.
She decided to leave you with the red haired god of sands and war as she didn’t feel like that would be as amusing with the others.
Seth was surprised to have a kid be given into his care but when it came from ra that surprise soon vanished knowing how she does strange things for her amusement.
You and him surprisingly got along as you and him pranked the other gods.
You made him reminisce on the times he spent his time with Anubis when he was younger though without the pranks as he wasn’t a mischievous child like you were.
He teaches you on how to hunt like how he does with Anubis when he was younger along with other things on how to defend yourself and many other things that he remembers.
He was a bit sad but didn’t say it or let it show as that was a sign of weakness for him as the god of war though the two of you made sure to keep in touch and schedule some time together and maybe have Anubis along as well.
Horus:
You were found by Hathor whose interest was peaked by how you’re immortal even though you’re a human child.
She decided to give you to Horus to see how he handles kids and also so she can have a insight on how to win his favor.
Horus was pretty neutral about you but made sure to care for you as you’re under the supervision of one of ra’s daughters so he needs to be careful so you don’t get hurt and die.
Of course he finds out soon that you’re immortal and gained knowledge on how to not accidentally hurt yourself like a normal kid would though you still have a kid like mindset as you like to pull many pranks on the other gods.
You’ve met his mother and started having a mother bond with her more than hathor as isis actually knows how to raise a child; though this time she’s not hiding from her brother, so she teaches Horus some ways on many things that she learned from some humans as she also knows that raising a Demi-god and a human is different things and needs to be approached differently.
Isis thought this would gain favor of Hathor in her battle against Seth and tried to convince Horus to spend some time with Hathor.
Horus didn’t really care about that as he’s more interested in Seth as his love interest though he does like having you around plus if he convince Seth to play with you as well it be like y’all are a family which he enjoys and savors every moment.
Anubis:
Anubis was very much surprised on when ra dropped you off on him though from the stories he’s heard and read he soon recovers as he realized that she did this for her own amusement.
You and him got along well and talked about many things which lead to finding out you two have more in common than y’all thought y’all did.
Though Anubis was technically older than you even with you being immortal so he teases you about it.
You always pranked him which created a little prank war between the two and always ended in a mess.
The two of you act like siblings that some humans and even gods thought that you were and your were just hidden away, though you two never denied them so that didn’t help on if you were his sibling or not.
He’s glad that he has someone to have fun with as he only had that when he was younger but that was soon ruined with what happened between his father and uncle.
Though he was sad when you had to be returned to ra but both of you made sure to schedule some time where both of you are free and have fun pranking each other and others.
(A/n: hope y’all like it!!! Don’t have anything else to say so hope y’all have a wonderful day/evening/night!)
Armchair psychology anon here! (I do not claim to be a professional psych by any means, I just happen to notice patterns in people and can't help but overanaylze)
I've noticed how much more parasocial Viv has become with her fans, and her blatantly not saying anything to stop fans from going overboard. (See how Goose and Tracy have been VERY active lately in saying to not be a dick to others. Viv is oddly quiet about her own fans behaving this way, and fans themselves have stepped in to try and calm the fandom down.)
The more parasocial the relationship is, the worse it gets. She's actively liking fan art that has a decent of amount of likes, but she's also liking fans who defend the show or are outright nasty to critics. The amount of likes on those specific tweets are low, but she's liking them to those fan's's surprise. That makes those fans and other fans double down on their behavior because they have a fantasy that Viv is now their friend or that she's even remotely interested in them as people and not words on a screen defending her. So more fans see Viv supporting shitty behavior, and they think they also have a chance at "being her friend" by acting like that.
She's obviously and intentionally creating her own attack dogs and doing nothing to stop their behavior. Her lovebombing of celebs and Broadway actors, and even people of a high status like Brandon, are all not just predatory in behavior, but she's also doing it to create another big shield for herself. She's not concerned with small people (or who she sees as small, like Ashley and Michael (even though they're getting bigger now)) and is going after big name people so they can comfort her when her insecurities hit their lowest point. (See Keith David's IG comment). I think Brandon's HB video was a genuine attempt at making her feel better when she wasn't feeling great. Even those old tweets with Salem and Ashley trying right make her feel better is a perfect example of what I'm trying to get across.
She pulls this very manipulative behavior to inflate her own ego, but also to have these people come to her defense. And when she decides she doesn't want them anymore, she goes after people of a higher status. She's trying to get up to Seth MacFarlane and Matt and Trey's level, I'm sure.
I have a feeling Brandon and others will quietly slip away at some point. If that wolf and sheep comic is anything to go by, she treats people so sweetly, making them think she's so great, then turns on them, leaving the victim confused and upset. I have a feeling Brandon and her have fought, as the thin line of his mouth and uncomfortableness at that con says a lot.
Body language says a lot. That video of him saying it was a "brilliant session" did not make it seem like he cared too much and that he may be keeping her satiated.
Sorry for the long winded post.
Never be sorry, Armchair Psychology Anon. Your posts are always fascinating.
Sobering, worrying, but fascinating. I wish I didn't agree with you.
Some SAW ramblings
Imagine Hoffman starts seeing Amanda more like a sister and it helps him heal some of the trauma from Angie's death.
*adding on to this:*
Amanda and Mark having a good sibling relationship from the getgo.
*cut to Saw 2 with the nerve gas house*
Imagine the amount of fear, anxiety, and rage he'd feel seeing Mandy being tossed in the needle pit. If Daniel didn't rock Xavier's shit, Hoffman would've knocked his ass himself. He knows Amanda is capable and can defend herself if need be, but also, Xavier is like twice her size
*reminds him of Seth...*
He already lost one sister, he will NOT lose another.
The anger and resentment he'd feel against John for letting that happen, for letting their friend, John's daughter, *the baby sister of the group*, for letting her in such a dangerous situation in the first place.
"It's for the test" he says. "She volunteered." he says. "I trust her".
ITS NOT ABOUT THAT JOHN, ITS THE FACT THAT HOFFMAN CAN'T BEAR TO LOSE SUCH A SWEET GIRL *AGAIN*.
You inspired her, you were supposed to help her, PROTECT HER... and yet her own father is the one who does her the most harm.
Sometimes he has half a mind to convince Amanda to leave, for her own safety... He knows she never would, she loves John too much and it pains him to think that he's going to be the death of her.
Yale University’s flagship campus newspaper apologized on Tuesday for removing from a student’s column what it called “unsubstantiated claims” of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas raping and beheading Israelis during its Oct. 7 invasion of the Jewish state.
“Editor’s note, correction, Oct. 25: This column has been edited to remove unsubstantiated claims that Hamas raped women and beheaded men,” the Yale Daily News wrote in a statement at the bottom of a column by sophomore Sahar Tartak.
The article in question lambasted Yalies4Palestine (Y4P), a pro-Palestinian campus group, for defending and seemingly applauding Hamas’ assault on Israel. Published on Oct. 12, the column was later censored to no longer include a portion describing reports and eyewitness accounts of Hamas raping and beheading Israeli civilians.
Hamas murdered over 1,400 people, mostly civilians, injured thousands more, and kidnapped over 200 people as hostages during its terrorist onslaught on Oct. 7 — the deadliest single-day massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. The brutality of Hamas’ attacks — which, according to copious and publicly verified documentation, included rape, torture, and the beheading of babies — has shocked the world.
Following widespread backlash to the editor’s note, Yale Daily News editor-in-chief Anika Seth published a statement explaining and apologizing for the editorial decision. She began by saying the News “failed to ensure” the statements about rape and beheadings were “properly cited and attributed,” arguing that at the time of initial publication, claims of those specific forms of violence by Hamas on Oct. 7 “were not independently confirmed” by the source cited in the column. The News then “published corrections” modeled on reporting and corrections from other media outlets earlier in the month.
“The News was wrong to publish the corrections. By the time of the first correction on Oct. 25, there had been widely reported coverage from outlets such as Reuters publicly verifying that Hamas raped and beheaded Israelis,” Seth wrote. “These corrections erroneously created the impression that, as of late October, there still was not enough publicly available evidence for those horrific acts. The News therefore retracts those editor’s notes in their entirety and without qualification. The notes have been removed from the columns, and the original text has been restored.”
Seth went on to say that it was never the newspaper’s intention to “minimize” the brutality of Hamas’ assault on Israel, adding, “We are sorry for any unintended consequences to our readership and will ensure that such erroneous and damaging material does not make it into our content, either as opinion or as news.”
Tartak said on X/Twitter that the decision to restore her original article does not “make the initial change any less insidious.”
The News came under heavy fire this week by alumni who accused it of hypocrisy for choosing to discredit reports of rape made by Israeli women after publishing several accounts of sexual assault and harassment that were never challenged in a court of law.
“It defies belief that this editorial board would therefore characterize claims of rape during the Hamas attack as ‘unsubstantiated’ in the face of ample substantiation in news outlets,” Yale alumni Chris Michel and Elyssa Friedland wrote in a letter to the paper. “And it shocks the conscience that a generation of students who implore us to ‘believe women’ who allege rape is suddenly willing to disbelieve the evidence of their own eyes when the women raped are Israeli.”
Yale University alumnus and foreign policy expert Walter Russell Mead, who recently wrote a book examining the history the US-Israel relationship, tweeted, “Does anyone ever get the feeling that Ivy League admissions departments and faculty search committees aren’t as good at their jobs as they should be?”
Yale has been no stranger to controversy since the Israel-Hamas war began on Oct. 7.
As Hamas invaded Israel and the world learned of the atrocities it committed against civilians, Yale professor Zareena Grewal — who teaches “American Studies, Ethnicity, Race, & Migration, and Religious Studies” — said that Palestinians had “every right” to target Israelis through “armed struggle.”
“Prayers for Palestinians. Israeli [sic] is a murderous, genocidal settler state and Palestinians have every right to resist through armed struggle, solidarity #FreePalestine,” she tweeted. Later, she posted, “No government on earth is as genocidal as this settler colonial state,” referring to Israel.
Mistake -P1- Mistake -P2- Mistake -P3 (This!) Mistake -P4-
Tumblr media
Pairing: Finn Balor x Seth Rollins x Fem!Reader
Warning: Angst.
Word Count: 2,084
Summary: You confront Seth after his confession, which leads to problems. (Sorry if the summary sucked!)
A/N: One more Part! I’m sorry I’m taking so long to upload the parts, please just stick with me! Hope You Enjoy!
Tumblr media
What? Is he serious?
Seth Rollins, the same man who broke your heart, the same man that chose his ex over you, the same man that ruined a special title shot for you, is admitting to liking you still.
Your mouth dropped open as you looked at him. "What?" He let out a sigh, knowing it would take time. "I still want you, Y/n. I realized my mistake and I'm trying to get better. Give me another chance." He begged, grabbing your hands.
You looked down at them before thinking. You love Finn, you can't go back to him. You slowly took your hands out his. "Seth, I love Finn. You had your chance and now that you messed it up, I'm moving on." He looked down in defeat.
"I know, but I was stupid. I wasn't thinking at the time. I was young!" Excuse after excuse, nothing was gonna change your answer. "Seth, we can be friends, but nothing more." You answer lastly before getting up to leave, but you were stopped and grabbed.
Seth spun you around before kissing you. You were so shocked you couldn't even push him away. You stood there, frozen. What you didn't know was that the door was slightly open and a picture was taken...
You finally got your senses back and pushed him away. "SETH? WHAT THE FUCK?!" You never cuss. That was how he knew you were mad. "I-I'm sorry I thought-" You cut him off, slapping him. "I love Finn! Not you. You messed up, Seth Rollins!"
You feel ashamed when you say you felt something. You missed his lips in your's, but you were with Finn. He doesn't have to know about this. Right?
You walked out feeling tears come to your eyes. You thought that tune was over him, but clearly all it took was a kiss. You went to the bathroom and wiped your tears.
He messed up badly.
————————————
You were hanging out in the catering with everyone that was congratulating you on your return and your relationship with Finn. You sat with some of your old friends: Bayley, Becky, Bianca, Charlotte, and Sasha. "Girl, I haven't seen him this happy since he won his first title." Bayley said. It was probably true, considering they used to be a tag team.
You smiled at the fact you could make him that happy. "I try too." You said, smiling. All of a sudden, hands covered your eyes making you jump. "Guess who?" That Irish accent gave it away too easily. "Hmm, Becky?" You heard a gasp across the table. "Hey! I might be, The Man, but I don't sound like one!" She defended making others laugh.
Finn uncovered your eyes and kissed your cheek before sitting next to you. "So." He started off. "So?" You said you were confused. "What did Seth say to you?" You thought for a second before rolling your eyes. "Oh my god, he literally had the audacity to say he still loved me. I was like you had your chance and now that Finn has taken your place doesn't mean you can try to get your spot back."
You didn't tell him about the whole kissing incident because he looked so happy.
Others nodded their heads in agreement. "He wants you to leave me, for him, after breaking his heart?" He asked, trying to understand this. "Yeah, but I told him that I love you and we can still be friends." Finn nodded his head, not minding that. Clapping could be heard at the entrance as everyone turned and looked.
It was no other than Baron Corbin. You rolled your eyes, mumbling, 'Ignore him.' "Y/n, Finn, how are y'all today?" Finn stared at him, with anger. "Baron, please leave us alone." You asked nicely. "Why? I'm not here to start arguments. I'm here to talk about y'all." Baron being happy? Absolutely not. "Baron please leave-" Baron began to talk over you. "Y/n why are you behind so mean-"
Finn stood up, getting in Baron's face while you held on his bicep. "You heard the lady. Leave us." Baron rolled before turning around to leave. "You'll see, don't disrespect me!" You and Finn laughed before brushing him off.
He wasn't gonna do anything.
Or was he?
————————-
It was time for Smackdown and you sat in the locker room, watching Finn get ready for his match. "Love, do you think you can do my back for me?" You smiled, getting up and frBb the paint brush. "Do whatever you'd like." You thought for a second before starting your painting. The TV was on as music played through the arena. It was Seth.
He walked to the commentary table before sitting down. You guess he's gonna be the special guest commentator. Finn's match was up first as Staff members came to the door. "You wanna come out?" You nodded your head before intertwining your hands together and walking out. Fans cheered as you two walked out together.
It seemed they loved you two together. You gave Finn a good luck kiss before going at ringside. The match was going well. Finn was beating his opponent before hitting his finisher and winning. You got in the ring, jumping in his arms, not caring about the paint, getting all over your clothes.
"You did so good, babe!" He smiled before celebrating his victory. You two walked backstage. "Hey, you can go wash up, I gotta go talk to Vince." He kissed your cheek before sending you on. You walked in and saw Baron sitting there. "Hello, Y/n Vince greeted you, shaking your hand.
"Hello Sir, what can I do for you?" You said, sitting down in the chair. "I want to talk to you about upcoming plans for your career, but first can you put your things on the desk. I just don't want you distracted or recording any of this." You agreed instantly and took your phone and things out your pocket and sat them down on the desk.
You two talked about things and you didn't even notice, Baron taking your phone. "Sorry to interrupt you Sir, but may I use the bathroom." Vince waved his hand before continuing.
Baron went to the bathroom and did things with your phone. He came back in after 15 minutes and sneakily placed your phone back in its spot. You'll never know. "Okay, I can do that!" You agreed to Vince before getting your things. "Thank you, Sir. I won't let you down." You left the room and went back to Finn.
You and Finn went home without a problem.
————————————————————————
It was the time for Monday Night Raw and you had a match. You were nervous because this would be your second match after taking a break and you would have to fight, Nia Jax. Fellow co-workers would tell you about how dangerous she is in the ring and how careful you would have to be. She was a powerhouse after all.
"Are you ready for tonight?" Finn asked, spraying cologne on his neck. "Kind of, I'm just nervous." You said, lacing up your boots. "Don't be, I know you'll do great, and even if you do lose, you're still a winner in my books." He smiled, hugging you. "Thank you for supporting me, baby." You laid your head back, against his shoulder.
"Of course, I'm gonna support you like a boyfriend should." You thought back to Seth, but shook your head. "Imma go stretch." You walked pro, not letting him get another word in. On your way to the area, Baron stopped you. "Good luck in your match, Y/n." He actually looked happy. His smile didn't match his eyes at all.
He looked like he had something planned. "What are you planning, Corbin?" You crossed your arms not believing him. "What? I'm not planning anything. I'm just being a supportive coworker." He said, holding his hands up in defense. "Don't make me go get Finn." You pointed your index finger at him. "You have to worry about having him after this match."
What?
What doesn't he mean by that? "What are you talking about?" Baron brushed his statement. "Y/n! You're up!" Great, he distracted you. You didn't even have time to stretch. You walked to the gorilla and made your entrance.
You fought a hard match against Nia and you ended up getting the win. It drained you physically fighting her, but she wouldn't give up. Finn came out, clapping before getting in the ring. He kissed you and raised your hand up in victory.
Baron's lucid played around the arena making you groan. He always had to ruin the moment, did he?
He came out smiling, with a microphone in his hand., stalking to the ring. He began clapping. "Good job in your win, Y/n. You looked really good out here." Finn took his jacket off, ready to fight. He was really getting tired of him. "Woah, woah, woah, Irish Man! Slow down!" Baron said backing up.
"You don't wanna fight me, trust me! I've got something you want to see." Finn calmed down waiting for him. You handed him a mic. "Show me then!" Baron smiled happily before getting in the ring. "Well, your little girlfriend over there isn't really in love with you, like she says she is."
Your brows furrowed in confusion, wondering what he was talking about. “You see, she hasn’t been telling you everything about her little Ex-boyfriend, Seth.” ‘Ooo’s’ were heard around the arena as he said that. You still didn’t understand what he was talking about. You barely talked to Seth.
“Get on with it Corbin, before I beat your ass!” Finn threatened. He sounded mad. “Alright, let’s start off with the messages.” Messages? What messages? You thought. On the big screen, it was a picture of your messages from Seth. “Yesterday, Y/n, texted Seth: ‘Hey Seth, I just wanted to say I enjoyed last night.” Finn looked at the titantron, reading the messages.
Was this true? He thought. “Oh, and what about a week ago? She said, ‘We can’t tell Finn what we did! It was only a one time thing.’” He mocked, using a girl's voice. Finn couldn’t tell if he should be mad or sad.
“Burn It Down!”
Great, here comes Seth. It’s just what we needed to add more fuel to the fire. Seth came into the ring looking at Corbin. “Corbin, what the hell are you talking about? I didn’t text Seth that?!” You protested confusingly. “Then what are the messages?!” The sudden outburst from Finn made you jump. He’s never yelled at you before.
“I don’t know? I didn’t have my phone on me!” You really didn’t understand what was happening. “You obviously texted him all this! You knew what happened. And you!” He pointed at Seth. “You that desperate, you come and mess with my girl!” Seth looked at Finn, offended. “Look man, if I wanted her, I could have her.
Your mouth dropped open as Finn held himself back from beating Seth. “Oh wait, before we finish this, you all wanna see this.” Baron clicked a button and a picture showed up. It was a picture of you and Seth kissing in his locker room.
Finn got in Seth’s face and began arguing while Baron sat in the back smiling. You stood in the corner shocked at everything, feeling tears drop on your cheeks.
Tumblr media
(Pretend The Miz is Baron)
“Are you serious? You're so insecure, you're trying to take my lady!?” Finn yelled at Seth. “I don’t need to take your lady because it’s obvious that she wants me!” That was it for Finn. He jumped on him and the two began fighting. They threw hard punches at each other while referees came from backstage trying to pry them off each other.
After they separated them apart you grabbed Finn’s arm. “Finn calm down!” Finn’s head snapped back at you. “Calm down? You want me to calm down after you kissed your ex?!” You sighed, wishing you told him about it from the beginning. Finn didn’t let you get a word in before leaving the ring, leaving you and Seth there.
Seth, picked up a microphone before speaking. “Finn, since we both want the lady, how about You vs Me for, Y/n. Next week!” The crowd cheered as Finn shook his head.
“Challenge accepted!”
You couldn’t believe what was happening all in one night.
i’m procrastinating studying for my finals & ive been on marauders & aftg tiktok for too long so here it is: my take on the aftg characters as taylor swift songs
- neil: you’re on your own kid (the neil josten anthem, especially the bridge), getaway car (I SWEAR IM NOT TRYING TO BE FUNNY), snow on the beach (tbh i always see this as an andreil song, but it’s just like: neil had never expected to fall for andrew or even trust him in the beginning, so the fact that they’re even falling? fucking weird. also, the line, “you wanting me, tonight, feels impossible” like the idea of someone wanting to touch him without wanting to hurt him ahshajsgs)
- andrew: daylight (just listen), anti-hero (this could very well apply to all the foxes, but the line, “i wake up screaming from dreaming // one day i’ll watch as you’re leaving // cause you got tired of my scheming” seems to be his perspective on nearly all of his relationships), evermore (for me, this song is largely about depression and, tbh, i’ve been reading too many andrew character studies lately, and “that this pain would be for evermore” hurts SO bad when you’re thinking about him. then the song develops, and ends with, maybe this pain isn’t forever. im gonna write a fic on this i swear.)
- aaron: delicate (“my reputation’s never been worse so, you must like me for me” him & katelyn after the whole drake incident im crying so hard😭😭)
- nicky: paper rings (him & erik 🤭, like they are the cute love songs in my head)
- dan: the man, gorgeous (so like,,, dan didn’t like matt at first, right? was annoyed at him a lot, didn’t think he was all that — so she was also very annoyed when she started noticing him and liking him and kinda being attracted to him so i just imagine this song as dan’s drunken confession to matt about how frustrated she is with him and matt’s just smiling at her and it makes her even more frustrated bcs how is he so pretty), sweet nothing
- matt: lover (“and at every table.. i’ll save you a seat, loveeeeer” asfgsgsgs), king of my heart (“and we rule the kingdom inside my room” —> i so imagine dan and matt having the stupidest fun with each other and that feels like listening to this song, like you’re not really part of the inside joke. also, dan is definitely the queen of matt’s heart :))
- allison: the last great american dynasty (she had a marvellous time ruining everything), i know places (headcanon: after renee confesses to her, they slip away for a weekend to just be with the two of them to hide themselves away from everyone else for now), i wish you would (about seth, in this case.)
- renee: new romantics (she could build a castle from all the bricks they threw at her), peace (about how the danger lives in her, how she can never truly bring peace because she doesn’t feel like she can, but still “would it be enough, if i could never give you peace?” she hopes to be enough and tries to make up for her past by caring 4 others ajahhshshs i love her sm), dress (“i don’t want you like a best friend” her confession to allison please 😫)
- kevin: right where you left me (kevin day, the epitome of the freeze ptsd response, always stuck where he in where he was), the great war (“there’s no morning glory, it was war, it wasn’t fair” makes me think of him and jean after riko died)
- jean: epiphany (listen to this while thinking of him istg im crying), exile (“you’re not my hometown anymore, so what am i defending?” about kevin😭), gold rush (jerejean conflict so good, i need new fics)
For better or worse, the 2023 Super Mario Bros movie very accurately translates the Nintendo video games to the big screen, offering fun and references but few surprises.
Some have defended the quirky 1993 Super Mario Bros movie by saying that the original games aren't cinematic, and aren't possible to adapt into a film. "What, do you want a movie where Mario jumps on some blocks in a raccoon suit and says Wahoo, it's-a-me, Mario?" Well, this is a movie where Mario jumps on some blocks in a raccoon suit and says "Wahoo, it's-a-me, Mario."
Will Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Peach be able to save the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser, king of the Koopas? Will Mario eat some mushrooms, kick some shells, and jump on some blocks? Will fire flowers and invincibility stars provide a temporary boost in power? Will Mario drive a go-kart down a rainbow road? Will Donkey Kong throw some barrels? Is water wet? Does two plus two equal four?
It's been forty years since the Nintendo Family Computer (Famicom) hit shelves in Japan, and thirty years since the 1993 movie, made by an older generation that didn't understand the appeal of Nintendo's video games. This time round, everyone involved understands the assignment and plays it safe. I'm glad we're at that point where everyone is on the same page, even if no risks are taken with the material. There are similarities to the 1993 film but mostly it feels like you're watching one of Mario's recent video games, but as a movie. Which raises the question of what this film has to offer that a game doesn't.
For one thing, there's the character relationships. Mario doesn't have much to say in the games, but here is serviceably if blandly played by Chris Pratt, who somehow hasn't been fully cancelled yet. (See also: Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong.) We somehow get a fair amount of bonding between Mario and Seth Rogen's amusing Donkey Kong. Incidentally the events of Donkey Kong (1981) are fictional in this movie, but the events of Wrecking Crew (1984) are not.
The standout is Jack Black, giving a very Jack Black performance as the lovestruck villain Bowser, king of the Koopas. He mostly interacts with Kevin Michael Richardson, spot-on as Kamek the Magikoopa. Keegan-Michael Key plays an adventure-seeking Toad, whose part in the adventure feels underdeveloped. Charlie Day doesn't get enough to do as Luigi, mostly just looking scared in true Luigi fashion, but does well enough with what he has.
Anya Taylor-Joy plays the sweet and fiercely determined Princess Peach, who is very much a playable character here, as an overcorrection for her passive nature in most of the games. The result has Lego Movie syndrome, where it's not clear why this hyper-capable, overqualified character gets to do nothing, compared to a man with zero experience or skills. The Lego Movie also starred Chris Pratt, and both come uncomfortably close to the bigot's dream that "the best of them is lower than the worst of us." This is, at least, in line with the games, where Luigi and sometimes Peach and Toad are just as playable as Mario is, but are also not your first choice of character. But there's no reason given in the film to choose Mario over Peach, and even Peach's interest in keeping Mario around is somehow less romantic than the quick kiss he'd get at the end of a game. The film does often find things for Peach to do, including fighting Bowser herself. It also puts her in the passive role of watching Mario do something, while portraying her as overpowered compared to him, which almost feels sarcastic.
The predictable plot is not unlike the 1993 movie and 1989's The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, whose theme song is used here. Actually a lot of theme songs are used here, with the score constantly referencing themes from the games, almost at random. (In a real dick movie, Grant Kirkhope is not credited for writing the Donkey Kong Rap, with a blank space credited instead.) As in the 1993 film, the Brooklyn plumbers Luigi and Mario Mario journey into the sewers and are warped via pipe into another world, the Mushroom Kingdom, and menaced by the evil King Koopa. I'm pretty sure this has never been the actual storyline according to Nintendo of Japan (who sometimes claim that Mario is from the Mushroom Kingdom himself), but it's a key factor in American adaptations.
Otherwise this is stuff you've probably seen before in over forty years worth of video games. The attention to detail is laudable, but it's also just protecting Nintendo's corporate branding at a time when they've been doing this for over four decades, and are now expanding into theme parks. It would be an idiot move, at this point, to deliver anything that's unlike the video games. This movie would have felt like a miracle in the 80s or 90s, when anti-Japanese paranoia was still rampant among the older generations, and video games were written off as rotting kids' brains.
But coming at this with a Millennial and Gen X attitude, we know exactly who Mario is, and what he does. This is a Mario movie where you expect the expected. Of course it could have been a lot worse. The film feels a little too simple, but doesn't do anything actively wrong or bad. They had a chance here to lend a little more depth to Mario, who is barely a character, and that chance is not taken. The film zips by without much time for character development. Kids may find poetry in that, and be able to fill in the blanks, as if hours passed in these scenes rather than seconds. Adults will simply get what they paid for - a movie that feels like the Super Mario Bros video games. In particular, the New Super Mario Bros series, which upgraded the adventure to new hardware while staying very close to the old 80s formula.
Here's another metaphor for you. The Mario game series got more experimental with Super Mario RPG and the first Paper Mario, as well as the Mario & Luigi (Superstar Saga) RPG games. These introduced many unusual new characters, but the Paper Mario sequels have been progressively less experimental, presenting us instead with a lot of similar Toads and Koopas. That's also what we get in this movie - a sea of Koopas and Toads. Series creator Shigeru Miyamoto, credited as producer here, prefers it that way.
The scenes set in Brooklyn are a little stranger, filled with easter eggs and characters we don't learn much about. It's too cartoony to pass for the "real world," and is full of stuff Illumination are making up for this movie, rather than taking from the games.
I was surprised, somehow, that some animated version of Dennis Hopper's Koopa didn't show up. I think that might have been an improvement.
Not long ago, I edited an extended version of the 1993 Super Mario Bros movie, intended for an official Blu-Ray release which never happened. That film had a famously troubled production, and has some real problems with a mismatch in tone. The directors had created the cyberpunk TV series "Max Headroom" and wanted this to be a similar cyberpunk dystopia for older teenagers, while the studio heads at Disney were dismissing Mario as something for very young children. The shooting was a messy and unhappy affair, and something was lost in the edit. Meanwhile no one involved seemed to know or care very much about the actual property, which seemed impossible to translate into live action anyway. It's fanciful and cartoony, and the things Mario does in the games are things he does because it's a video game. There's no reason for him, in a movie, to be jumping on blocks and saying "Wahoo!"
The 1993 Super Mario Bros movie is very weird. The 2023 Super Mario Bros movie is a cartoon where Mario jumps on some blocks and says "Wahoo!" The latter is, obviously, much more accurate to the game. In a weird way, I think both approaches were valid. Older people actually know who Super Mario is now, so this is the movie we get. It's a kids movie, for those kids who've been playing Mario games for the past forty plus years. It's no better or worse than that. There's no false advertising here - it is exactly what it claims to be.
I can't imagine that anyone will be thrilled by a post-credits sequence teasing Yoshi, whose species already appears in the film. That's about the least surprising reveal possible, in a movie that's already devoid of surprises. A set of toys for this movie came out at McDonald's, and this is really the McDonald's hamburger of movies. Something for kids that adults can just about choke down. Well, I've got all those McDonald's toys on my desk, and if they keep making movies like this I'll probably keep watching them. I'll watch a movie with Yoshi in it, or Rosalina or Wario or whoever they add for a sequel. I just won't pretend like it's something I haven't seen before.
Rating: Fresh / Recommended
Adam his behavior definitely enable by the heaven and sera never once hold him accountable
Part of the reason why Eve left. Okay so Adam can do whatever he wants. Fair enough. But when she tries to be the dutiful wife everyone still brings up her eating the apple. She just got so sick and tired of being reduced to her flaw & Adam's inability to defend her. He didn't even notice she was missing until Seth brought it up.
A key factor in his relationship with Kané is that she isn't an enabler. Sure, Lute could get exasperated by his antics but she didn't stop him either. By Kané being equally stubborn and not entertaining his BS, Adam finally meets someone he can't walk over.
Is anyone else pissed that we had to wait 8 fricken books for Lance and Darcy to get their divine moment when Tory and Darius got theirs in book 4 when they still hated each other's guts?
And then as soon as they're happy fuckin shadow bitch shows up and just casually makes Darcy mortal, thereby erasing the mating bond on her end, and kidnaps Lance to torture for the next I-forget-how-long.
Like,,,
Just let them be happy :(
So when I decided I absolutely hated that my lil writing brain came up with a cannon divergent plotline where they have their moment at the beginning of book 5 after Tory finds out.
Like their final test from the stars was whether Lance was willing to be hers in front of people right?
So, what if after Tory finds out Lance decides to tell Darius about their relationship?
Obviously Darius gets mad (She's a fucking Vega, Lance, what the hell is wrong with you?) and Lance defends her, because let's be honest that man's fuckin whipped, and he eventually manages to talk Darius into begrudgingly accepting the relationship.
Then Lance finds the password to the diary through means that don't involve going to prison and accepts that maybe he's okay with being a royalist and accepting Darcy as his queen.
So the story continues like cannon until the night where they have their little date beneath the library.
So, the date plays out as in cannon until around 3 am where they have their divine moment in a field somewhere.
Then they go back to Zodiac and go to bed and the next morning when the FIB show up and put the power suppression cuffs on him, it drops the illusion he was holding to hide the silver ring until they could be registered officially as mates, and causes mass confusion.
So obviously the FIB officers are like, 'uhh wtf?? Why isn't it on your file that you have an elysian mate??' and Lance is just like, ' Well since it happened at literally 3 last night I didn't exactly have the time'
So then Darcy gets over to them and since they already know she's not doing the illusion anymore, so there's pretty much a giant uproar from everyone (oms one of the Vegas is elysian mates with a teacher?? Specifically a teacher who, until this point, was very much team heirs??)
Then Lance is still arrested, because technically he was breaking the law, but at the trial there's almost nothing they can do to charge him (yes he was breaking the law but very clearly because of the stars considering the fact that they are elysian mates)
So he is ruled innocent and returns to Zodiac to continue teaching and then they are made to navigate their relationship while at the school and figuring out how to work things.
(also there is a scene where Seth gets all mad at Darcy cuz his leverage is gone but that is neither here nor there)
Anyways, that is my idea for a book 5 fix-it fic that's been living in my head ever since Lance was arrested.
If I write this out would anyone read it?
Quick question, what if it was Apophis who killed Osiris? Seth didn't defend himself because maybe he thought the elders wouldn't make a difference between him and Apophis because they think they're the same person
Hold on, I like where you're going with this, Anon. But I will mention that I think it might be implied that Isis was responsible for Osiris' death. Maybe not that she directly murdered him, but that she was behind it since Horus did mention that his parents' relationship soured right before the situation unfolded. Considering what happened, I think Osiris and Isis had a disagreement about power. Maybe Isis wanted equal share since they were in a relationship after all. Or, since Horus mentioned that everyone treats him as a kid and that Seth stopped visiting as often when the disagreement happened, Osiris might've wanted Seth to inherit his throne because he didn't have faith in Horus and Isis disagreed, which would explain why Seth took over after his death and why Isis spearheaded the smearcampaign against him to get Horus into power. But that's all merely speculation rn.
Now now, hopefully I haven't lost ya here because I DO think it's possible that Apophis participated in Osiris' murder, but maybe not in the way ya think. Rn I believe that Seth's role in his family was as the black sheep who does all the dirty work. You know? That one family member who is seen as a disgrace to the family, so the rest of the family pressures them into things to "make up for it". Seth was already seen as a delinquent playboy, but adding the mythology parts, he's also a bisexual manwhore and infertile, so he's pretty much seen as useless since he can't provide any grandchildren/future heirs. They probably just talked bro into becoming Apophis and murdering Osiris as Apophis (since dragging people to Duat is kinda Apophis' thing instead of Seth's) by saying he owed them for being a fuck up. And like ya said, since they're pretty much one in the same, there would be no point in Seth denying it.
I definitely feel like Apophis might've had some hand in what happened either way, glad you brought this up.
| 🌻June Darling 🌻 |
Despite almost never seeing her father, June was always excited when Seth came home. He was one of the coolest people ever in the world. Vaani tended to complain about Seth but June, even when she was young, always defended him. She never knew specifically what her father did but her mother told her that he was helping people, and that she should try to help people too.
As she got older Seth was away more often, for longer stretches of time, to the point where sometimes she would forget that he was even actually out there somewhere. Eventually Seth had just become someone that popped into her life occasionally and gave her a really fun week before disappearing again from her life. A lot of birthdays were missed - a lot of friends didn't even know her mom was still married.
When June turned 10, Seth didn't come to her birthday, and at that moment where one of the waitresses asked where her dad was so she could take a picture, she felt almost like she had just been discarded by him, even if she knew that he had a job to do. Their relationship slowly deteriorated, but June still loved her dad, and Seth loved her too.
She misses him way too much for her to handle sometimes.
Thoughts on The Super Mario Bros Movie
Spoilers ahead
- - -
Positives
- The fact that Bowser's entire plan to get the Power Star was just so he could use it as a proposal gift to Peach is hilarious 🤣
- Jumpman!
Syrprised no one has mentioned this yet. No seriously this cameo made me smile so hard 😄 And yes it is Charles Martinet, and yes he is playing "Jumpman" in the background!
I just thought it was very sweet and YES while he doesn't look like game Mario, it was the best way they could've done it in, my opinion.
- The family was charming!
Honestly when I heard they had a whole family I got very worried that they would be taking up so much screen time.
It's like the issue I have with the humans in the Sonic movie's so far - they are not terrible, but I find it hard to care about them when they are not the main characters, and they go and high jack the movie.
But surprisingly, they aren't in it for too long! They are only at the beginning and end, and serve their purpose. In short, I am ok with them 👍🏻
- Bowser is perfect!
They got Bowser so right - honestly was a bit worried that he was just going to be a love struck clown throughout the whole thing...but when he gets mad or something doesn't go his way - he's terrifying! They really captured the fury of what a monster he is, both Jack Black and the animators 👏🏻
- OK now I know the other reason why they hired Jack Black! Bowser being a secret rocking music dude is not what I was expecting, and I love it 🤣👌🏻
- The fight scenes
DAMN! They did not hold back on these! The way the characters hit each other, the number of times Mario should've been dead with how hard he got smacked around. Dang it's brutal! And I love it!
Gotta mention the epic DK/Cat Mario, Rainbow Road 🌈, and Bowser/Luigi/Mario fights!!! So good 💗
- The Bros reunion
Need to mention it here, even though I already knew about it and gushed about it so many times there is literally nothing else I can say! It's a beautiful moment and even though it's quick I'm so glad they took the time to make that a moment ❤💚
- THE BROS FIGHTING TOGETHER
Kudos to the movie for never forgetting the true heart of the movie - the Bros' relationship. Luigi coming in to defend Mario, the Bros taking each other's hand, them running to the star together, Bowser being absolutely pummelled by them! It's so good!!! 💗💗💗 I could watch that all day!
- This movie actually made me like Donkey Kong but not Seth Rogan
- I like what they did with the Kong's being a whole kingdom and like a big family 💗
- DIDDY KONG GOT A LINE
- Toad is a funky dude. Please give him more in the sequel!
- I like the fact the end credits was so open. Yes I am aware some are upset that Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, and even Rosalina did not appear. But I think that it's a good thing. It shows that Nintendo and Universal did not want to hype up too much, just in case of the possibility of a sequel never happening (you can't really tell with Hollywood sometimes...) and it just means they got time to work on it.
This is the issue I had with Tails being introduced at the end of the Sonic Movie. They hyped him up so much, only for the writers to have to try and write in a sloppy reason in Sonic Movie 2 for why he is there.
It's clear this movie was a MARIO movie. Not hyping up too much for a cinematic universe or trying to get to the sequel - and I appreciate that immensely.
- The fact that Foreman Spike and Peach (two characters who have been in the same franchise but have never interacted due to the time and console releases their intro games took place in) suddenly sharing the same space in a movie??? That is surreal to me.
Negatives
Technically these aren't so much negatives - just nit picks and little annoyances I found that they could've done better - and also talk about some complaints other people have mentioned.
- The pacing
Yes everyone has talked about this - and they aren't wrong about it...but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Yes some scenes did seem to be on fast forward, just so the writers could get to the parts they really wanted to do...but when you also look at it from the perspective of urgency that the Mushroom Kingdom is under, some of it does make sense.
But still, the movie does tend to move at too fast a pace sometimes. But it is a fun rush. I can't really find a middle ground with it...
- Slow mo
No seriously did Zach Snyder take over at some point? There were too many pointless slow mo scenes for my liking.
- The pop songs
Not as bad as I thought they were going to be - but I still can't stand pop songs on Mario and I especially hate 80s songs!
In fact, what bothered me the most was the weird opera song they kept playing during their scuffle with the dog. Not only is it obnoxious, but it's playing so loud over the sounds and voices that you can't process anything effectively. It's weird and should've just been left out of the scene.
- Cranky's voice
Literally the only voice in the movie I felt did not fit the character at all. He should've sounded more old and grumpy.
- The fact it went by so fast!!! It was such a rush it went so quick. I wanted to stay in the MK forever 😭
- Luigi being absent
Honestly, yes we needed more of the Bros, but it was inevitable that Luigi wasn't going to have more screen time. Yes it is sad a prison breakout did not happen, but with all the footage they revealed up until release, it became more clear to me thst this wasn't going to happen. There just wasn't going to be time. I'm not upset about it, but we definitely need more in the sequel.
