I think the invention of the term "traumadump" has done discussion of mental health a lot of harm. I keep seeing discourse vs whether or not it's okay to talk about heavy topics with your friends, and like... I feel like there is a very big and important difference between my definition of traumadumping (ie. Frequently and habitually diverting your conversations with others towards your own misery, often with the goal of focusing attention and sympathy towards yourself at the expense of those around you, and without recognizable effort to reciprocate your empathy towards those you are speaking to or to ensure their comfort) VS the mere act of having heavier conversations with those around you. I've seen a lot of backlash to the idea of traumadumping as a concept lately (they paywalled human connection etc etc) but I think it's worth recognizing there is absolutely a kind of behavior that can create a negative feedback loop with this stuff. Especially if you navigate a lot of spaces in social media, it's not uncommon to find people dropping really heavy stuff on complete strangers unprompted. Idk, I think there's a degree of nuance to be had that's maybe getting a bit lost due to everyone having different definitions of what it means to "trauma dump."

peopl on here are like don't call someone a piece of shit, it's ableist towards everyone with piece of shit personality disorder, a diagnosis that seems completely reasonable and definitely not designed to stigmatize the patient

I will never be over how good Leo and Hueso’s dynamic is and how both of them get so much out of having the other in their lives.
In Leo’s case, he gains that older male figure in his life that he is willing to trust and lower his walls for. He gains a confidant where he has none elsewhere, too busy keeping up his many masks with his family to ever consider showing them his true thoughts. He gains an authority figure who is willing to hear him out, no matter how reluctant said figure initially appears.
In Hueso’s case, Leo’s direct involvement in the skeleton’s life has undoubtedly benefited Hueso so unbelievably well. For one, it’s Leo’s choice to ask Hueso for help finding his brothers that ultimately leads to the clearing of Hueso’s Hidden City ban. Then, it’s Leo and Mikey that Hueso brings on to help him with two mob bosses, ending with the bosses no longer being a problem for Hueso. And of course, through Leo’s decision to come to Hueso for advice and later the slider’s insistence that Hueso try to make up with his brother, Hueso’s estranged relationship with Piel is finally mended.
Sure, Leo causes no small amount of strife and damages to Hueso’s business and person, and Hueso is often annoyed by and speaks callously to Leo, but there’s a reason Leo feels comfortable enough to continue going to Hueso, and there’s a reason Hueso ultimately always hears Leo out.
They really do end up feeling like a nephew and uncle, don’t they?

Hi!
What's your favourite Disney movie? And does your preference for the dorms have any influence on their movies and vice versa? Like I know you love Diasomnia so is Sleeping Beauty high up there for you?
I'm just asking because Snow White is actually my favourite Disney Princess and her movie is my favourite yet Pomefiore is my least favourite dorm (but Lion King and Savanaclaw are both in my top two) and I was wondering if it's similar for you?
yessss someone else whose favorite princess is Snow! ❄️
that said, it's hard to say what my favorite movie is, because I'm one of those annoying people who's like "well it depends" (on different aspects, on my mood, on the phase of the moon, etc). though out of the ones represented in Twst, I think it probably is Sleeping Beauty! I think it's really pretty and just a delightful movie! it hits a nice sweet spot for me of being kind of...gently grounded while still having that floaty-fairytale feeling, if that makes sense also I might have had a huge villaincrush on Maleficent that is being massively projected onto Meleanor, shh
although I actually sort of hated Diasomnia at first (l-look, they didn't have cards at first and all we had to go on were the website descriptions that make everyone sound horrible). so I dunno, maybe the influence helped win me over to them! or maybe just because, like everything else in Twst, they were unexpectedly enjoyable in practice?
(I don't think there are any that had a negative influence either, because I am also one of those annoying people who's like "well I don't have a least favorite, I like everybody!") (sob. it's true though.) (I just, I just love characters so much --)

listen, i understand the sentiment behind yall saying "someone who doesnt want help cant be helped" i really do but i think yall are missing the big point when i talk about these things that suicide and drug addiction are structural issues that could be solved by providing peoples basic needs, they are not a personal failing, the majority of suicidal people and addicts do want to be helped, its just that their environment doesnt permit it. you can want help all you want, but it wont stop you from being crushed by the endless meat grinder of capitalism and abuse.

no thoughts head empty the oppressive stagnancy of legacy in ever after high dragging me round the block yet again
it's such a shame that we get so little explanation about the actual mechanics of destiny, which is the entire premise of the show, bc it's so juicy. like what power does destiny hold when you rip away milton's lies and centuries of assumptions and traditions. esp bc despite raven signing herself as the evil queen in the real storybook of legends, when the snow white fairytale actually happens in dragon games she's playing one of the seven dwarves and her mother has reprised her role. like how much of that was because of the characters' actions and how much was destiny pulling on old, familiar threads. keeps me up at night.
a lot of this is probably just like, plot holes and writer hot potato but i like making it that deep, that's half of the fun. my personal interpretation is that fate is a wild thing that desires repetition and they developed the system of fairytale legacy bloodlines to keep those repetitions predictable and contained, instead of wreaking havoc whenever and wherever they please.
which lends itself to some really juicy exploration of how legacy is a duty as much as it is a privilege, and how to be a princess or a witch or a hero or a dragon is to be the same thing in the end: the lamb destiny slaughters on the altar to sate the ever-ravenous narrative. to keep the flock safe. keep the unknown that prowls beyond the beaten path at bay. because if a there is always a mother who will be cruel, or a maiden who will fall into a sleep like death, or a child who will become a bird, isn’t it better to know who, and how, and when? isn’t better if it’s you, who has known your whole life that you must be eaten, be poisoned, be stripped of your humanity, rather than anybody else, who wasn’t raised to see it as an honour instead of a great and terrible injustice?

this is a largely meaningless observation but, based on the fleki uniform demonstration comic, mithrun seems to wear the default style of the canary uniform, probably because he has no desire to personalize it or preference for how to do so, etc. when he does seem to pick his own clothes, though, they don’t look super in-line with what we’re shown of elven clothing styles in his region: high collars look like they’re fairly popular with elves in general, but out of uniform he tends to be a lot more covered up than everyone else—long sleeves, long pants, boots rather than sandals, and he dresses that way both prior to getting eaten and after the events of the series. anyway it’s kind of cute that after everything that happened to him, someone cared enough to remember what his clothing preferences used to be.

What do you think about the sneak peek of Wind? I saw Breezepelt acting somewhere between "little shit" and "actually concerned" and I lost it he owns my heart
I took a while to distance myself a bit from the preview because I REALLY didn't like it when I first read it. And now after taking some time to think about it, I know for sure that I honestly, truly do not like it or the direction the arc is going in.
This is book 5 and it feels like they've barely made any progress on the character arcs, how are they going to wrap them up in 1 more book? It looks like they're doing the worst possible thing with the Nightsun pairing, playing it without any problems. They've made a bunch of characters guzzle stupid juice so Splashtail could take power. It even seems like they SPITEFULLY wrote the whole society of the Clans turning on Frostpaw for doing a confrontation without the Updated Autopsy Report prepared, because for some reason all of these cats are little lawyers when it comes to moving the plot along
And for fuck's sake! What's the POINT of these super special sacred pilgrimages they send cats on if they're NEVER believed when they come home? This isn't even the first time that we've wasted an entire book on a StarClan Quest for a revelation that could have taken a single chapter. And now we're going to get an agonizing book of filler arguments to convince the Clans that Frostpaw wasn't lying about someone she has no motive to lie about otherwise
(The "motive" that Splashtail suggests is that she, child, is actually delusional about romantic interest in him, adult. She "got the wrong idea" when he got eeextra close to her and was suuuper emotionally invested in her after totally learning Curlfeather was evil when she was whispering her evil plans in her sleep. Im putting this on in the Cringe Compilation next to "A fox scratched Bumble to death after I left and came back 3 times")
They've suddenly introduced a theme OUT OF NOWHERE about how Curlfeather and Splashtail hate god, replying to the previous arc that says "StarClan makes mistakes" with "ATHEISTS BAD!"
I feel like Breezepelt is the carrot I was offered by a granny holding a knife behind her back. Save me Breezepelt. Breezy-P save me
