8- The Future
{Just LOOK at him in this gif 🥵🤌🥵🤌}

The following week, Terry frequented Jessi’s shop, bringing her lunch and having her go upstairs to her apartment for a break. More and more clients flooded through her doors, hiring a few helping hands was the best thing she had done. As Terry and Jessi sat up in her apartment one afternoon, Terry gave Jessi some news.
“I’m going to be flying in some Senesis from a Dojo from Korea this weekend, I’d like you to join me when I meet them,” he smiled at her.
“That sounds great. What should I wear?” She tilted her head, smiling.
He rose, kneeling in front of her, “How about that wonderful long black dress you made yourself the other day? The one with the ruffles in the fabric against your hip and that little snake charm sewn in?”
She smiled, shyly, running her fingers along the collar of his gi, “I can wear that,” she whispered.
Terry excused himself after lunch, kissing Jessi long and hard before heading back to the dojo. She hated watching him walk back there, how she longed to be part of more classes with him. Jessi enjoyed the private lessons, she was excelling, having been to just a handful of the Wednesday classes.
The day wore on, and unexpected guest wandered through the doors. Daniel LaRusso.
“Hi, how can I help you?” Jessi asked with a strained smile, noticing the unkept and unshaven, rough look of LaRusso.
“Uh yeah, yeah I guess you could say that, um…” LaRusso ran his hand through his hair, “Look I uh- I remember you at that auction, and I knew that I knew you, I couldn’t place you then it hit me. You run this place. I don’t know if you know who Terry Silver really is, if you’re involved at all with him my only advice is to step away and hope to God you’re safe. You don’t want to be involved with what’s going on.”
Jessi sneered, a scowl forming, not an expression she made often, “I don’t know who the hell you think you are, but I didn’t ask for your advice, and I sure as hell don’t need it. Get out of my shop.”
Daniel scoffed, “Look… whatever happens next, don’t say I didn’t warn you, he is a bad guy.”
Jessi marched right into Daniel’s face, “You and your threats can go right out that fucking door. Maybe you’ll realize you should have stayed away. You’d still have your wife.”
Daniel resisted the urge to respond, let alone push her, making the smart decision he turned and left. Jessi looked up at the large clock. 4pm, she flipped the sign to close, letting the ladies in the back go home early. She locked everything up, put her gi on, grabbed a small bag with fresh clothes and marched over to the dojo. Terry was in the middle of the under 18 class, he took instant notice of her demeanor as she walked towards the back area where she took her anger out on a dummy.
Jessi heard class being brought to an end. The last hour she put the hurting on a dummy and a large punching bag. Terry wandered back, “Hey, hey, Jess, what’s the matter?” He slowly took her arm, pulling her from the bag.
She panted, wiped the sweat from her forehead, “Daniel LaRusso came to my shop. Telling me that you’re this awful guy and I need to stay away and that I need to make sure I’m safe if I stay. Terry,” she said with a large sigh, “I am so sick of people saying you’re this awful person. I know you’ve done some messed up things and I don’t care, Terry I don’t care, I’m here for you, all of you.”
Terry pulled her into his suffocating embrace. This is all he ever wanted, someone to love him unconditionally. Jessi loved him unconditionally, they hadn’t said it yet, but he loves her, wholly. She clung to him, calming herself, crying silently into his chest.
“Jessi, I love you,” Terry whispered to her. She peeled away, looking up to him, wiping her face she smiled, “I love you too, Terry.”
“Jessi, don’t listen to that insufferable moron, I will always keep you safe, no matter what happens. I promise you, I will always be here for you,” he kissed her gently, wiping her face with the pads of his thumb.
He rested his forehead against hers, “Do you mind if I put some cameras up in your shop? I want to make sure I can have eyes on you in case LaRusso or anyone else muscles their way in there.” She nodded, telling him that was more than ok.
This just means Terry could sit wherever he pleased and watch his little seamstress work and toil away on his iPad. LaRusso upsetting her was the last straw, he didn’t imagine Danny boy would stoop so low as to harass his girl.
Seeing her upset boiled his blood, “Do you want to stay with me the rest of this week, sweetheart?”
She looked up at him, searching his face, “Um… yeah, yeah that would be nice I think.”
He smiled, happy that she saw it his way. Terry truly loves her, he was going to care for her and keep her safe under any circumstances. He walked with her back to her apartment, heading up the back way, she never felt afraid of staying there until now, she didn’t trust LaRusso’s cousin or coworker or whoever the hell he was.
“I just don’t understand why he thought what he did was ok,” Jessi huffed, “I think Amanda took the kids and left Daniel. I told him if he would stop and stay away then maybe he would still have a wife.”
Terry laughed, he stopped grabbing underwear and socks from a drawer for her, “That’s the best thing I’ve heard all week,” he continued to laugh as he put the undergarments in a duffel bag.
She chuckled, “Well, I let my anger get the better of me. I don’t typically get as upset as I did.”
Terry wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her to him, her back flush against his front, “There’s nothing wrong with getting upset and angry. You always handle yourself beautifully,” he whispered into her ear.
She leaned into him, “I can’t wait to see where the rest of this goes. What does the future look like for Cobra Kai, for us?”
Pushing her hair to the side he growled in her ear, “We’re going to have fun, doll. Cobra Kai is going to thrive and as for you and I,” he nipped at her neck, “The future is looking bright, you’re mine, and I refuse to let anyone get in the way of that.”

if terry and daniel got stuck in an elevator together how long would it take before they're making out in the corner
(Sorry I sat on this so long, anon! I was on vacation then went through some stuff. To answer this, I wrote a bit of a drabble. I’m imagining this as a missing scene some time in late season 4 after they’ve already met again! <3 Thank you!!)
Daniel is visibly seething when Terry shows up at the karate board meeting.
It’s not Terry thought his former student would be happy to see him, not after their tense reunion at Miyagi-do. But with Cobra Kai still in the tournament, Terry has every right to attend the meeting. Daniel’s just lucky John didn’t decide to join him. His co-sensei would normally go, but he wanted to give extra lessons to Keene.
Instead, he gets what feels like a private show of Daniel’s inner cobra struggling to escape. It’s particularly evident when he stands up and exits the room, Daniels’s shoulders carrying more tension than Terry ever thought possible. He follows after into the hallway and watches the line of tension in Daniel’s back while he walks. When he stops at the elevator and pushes the button, he waits for the doors to open, his foot tapping like an angry rabbit. Terry can’t help but smile and is caught in the act as Daniel glances back.
“Are you stalking me now?” Daniel snaps, and his glare is meant to strike fear but does nothing but leave Terry breathless with want.
He does manage to answer after a moment. “Why are you so worried?” Terry inquiries, tilting his head to the side.
Daniel’s mouth twitches, and if he were an animal, he would likely bite. But he rolls his eyes and turns back to watch the doors come open. Terry follows him into the elevator, standing near the buttons, and his former student moves to the farthest corner away, watching him intently. “Floor?” he asks politely and hits the ground level for himself.
“The same,” he mutters and stares forward to avoid eye contact.
Terry can feel himself smirking while the doors close them inside. He counts three seconds before Daniel speaks again. “It’s pathetic that someone at your age has nothing better to do than torture a bunch of teenagers so you and your army buddy relive the glory days when. Shouldn’t you be lounging on some beach waiting for the end instead of teaching karate in some strip mall in Reseda?”
His words are meant to hurt, but Terry is only amused. He knew this would come up eventually. “Does it bother you?” he asks, turning his head to find dark, brown eyes staring back.
“Obviously!” Daniel shouts back, throwing his arms in the air. His voice is rising into nearly a shout, so loud the ding of the elevator is drowned out. “Who wouldn’t be upset by some geriatric psycho messing with the minds of innocent kids?”
“That’s not what I meant, Danny,” Terry chuckles, stepping closer. Daniel glances down then back up to glare at him. “Does it bother you….that I didn’t come back…for you?”
Daniel’s face darkens instantly. “What?” he scoffs then comes forward, close enough that his swinging hands almost hit Terry in the face. “You’re sick in the head! As if I’d want anything to do with you again…ever!”
Those doe-like eyes are electric, sparking adrenaline and lighting Terry’s blood on fire. He had no idea how much he missed this between them until now. So many years were wasted that he would never get back. His lips are curling up into a smile he cannot restrain, and Daniel’s snarling at him so hard that his teeth are almost visible. “Really?” Terry asks, and Daniel huffs as if to agree. “Then why do I sense some…jealousy, Danny?”
Terry forgets how unpredictable Daniel can be when he grabs him by the front of his shirt, dragging him down until their faces are inches apart. “You,” he starts, the word so laced over with anger there’s almost no coherent beyond a growl, and Terry wants to let him finish or laugh in his face. But he’s too close now, all he can focus on is Daniel’s plush lips and sun-kissed skin. He doesn’t mean to swipe his tongue across his lips or take a deep, almost moaning breath, but the motion and sound are free before he realizes it.
Then Daniel is reeling back, blinking at him like he’s almost shocked. But he’s still clutching Terry’s shirt and standing within grasp. Terry can’t resist leaning down again, watching Daniel crane his head back to keep his gaze. When his former student goes silent, he doesn’t hold back.
“Say I’m wrong, Danny,” he begins. “Tell me with a straight face that you didn’t think about me. That you never wondered what I was doing or if I would ever seek you out again. Convince me that some part of you didn’t hope I would return and beg for your forgiveness.”
Daniel laughs with clear sarcasm. “Fuck you,” he hisses, and as he releases the shirt, the same hand is pulled into Terry’s grasp.
He twists Daniel’s wrist until his former student is wincing, but the pain only lasts a second until he goes still. Then Terry takes a step to force his back against the wall, laughing all the while. “Isn’t this what you really missed all these years? Isn’t that what you wanted me to do back then?” he asks.
There’s a scoff from Daniel followed by a deep breath, and then his expression twists into something wicked. The last time he saw the other wear this expression was when Terry set him free at the club. But what follows next is unexpected and welcome all the same.
His free hand braces the back of Terry’s head, pulls down with the same violence he showed with the sweater, and crushes their mouths together in a bruising kiss. Terry almost whines at the contact, easing from Daniel’s wrist to grab his blouse and shove him against the wall. He kisses with as much intensity as he can manage, hoping to make up for all the decades they missed in the span of seconds.
Daniel’s tongue slips past his lips to lick at the roof of his mouth, and his fingers are wrapping around Terry’s ponytail, pulling at his hair until a wave of pain shoots through him. Terry ignores the ache, relishing in the opportunity to explore his former student’s mouth. He braces a free hand against the wall, not trusting his legs to do the job, and for a minute, there’s just heat and breath between them.
Then after what feels like a millisecond, the elevator dings to signal their arrival to the ground floor, and they pull back, panting as if they’ve been running. While Terry catches his breath, Daniel peers over his shoulder, but he doesn’t move, meaning they are likely alone.
“Admit it,” Terry blurts before he has a chance to consider his words.
Daniel’s fingers tighten in his hair, forcing Terry to grimace. “Admit what, Terry?”
God, how he missed that fire. “Admit you missed me, that you’re jealous I’m there instead of with you,” Terry tells him, the words coming out more breathy than he intends.
Another pause of silence, and for once, Daniel’s expression is almost unreadable. Then he bites his lip and eases the grip on his hair before pushing him off completely. Terry lets him go too, watching his former student march to the door while his heart thunders in his chest.
“You should be with me,” Daniel whispers, and Terry is glad he isn’t standing close enough to hear the gasp he lets out. “But you’re not. You’re there.”
With these words, he leaves the elevator, and the doors close behind him. Terry is alone once again, in a prison he made for himself.

First of all, your titles all sound gorgeous! “Your Pain, Seared on My Heart” and “The Convergence of Sea and Sky,” perhaps?
OH BOY.  I’m so sorry it took so long for me to answer this, because I had to go back into my notes and sort through everything to figure out what exactly I was thinking all those months ago with those two fics.  The files are pretty sizable, and I had to make sense of a lot of what I’d written there before I could give you a proper answer.  I started writing these concept treatments when I first started writing for the fandom last year and had all sorts of ideas just thrown in there, some of which were good, some of which I look back on and am like, “what the hell is this?”  I haven’t looked at them in months, ever since I dropped everything to work on my current active WIP.
These fics have gone through a few different iterations, and when I first received your ask, I thought both titles were still part of the same Lawrusso fic series, but it turns out I separated Your Pain, Seared on My Heart from A Prize Beyond and The Convergence of Sea and Sky at some point.  Clearly, this is still very much a work in progress, and between now and the time I write it, it may change yet again, but this is how it stands right now:
The Convergence of Sea and Sky was the first longfic concept I started working on last year, inspired by some of my All-Valley 100 ‘Brick Wall’ entries.  It’s a Lawrusso KK3 AU where Johnny and Daniel are already together, and they work together to bring down Terry and Kreese and Cobra Kai.  Terry is a really nasty piece of work in this one, and Johnny knows Mike from All-State (he came in first, Mike second, in 1983-84), so he knows how dangerous Mike can be.  Daniel training with Terry puts a real strain on his and Johnny’s relationship, not least because Johnny knows what’s going on from the injuries Daniel comes home with (since they’re a lot like the ones he himself used to get from Kreese), but Daniel is trapped by Terry and can’t leave without causing even more trouble for everyone.  Some character details, like Johnny being a sports medicine major, ended up in my current fic, which I may or may not keep for this one as well.  My concept notes are a lot angstier and so much darker than I remembered 😬 but at least I have an idea for a happy ending planned for them.
--
Your Pain, Seared on My Heart is a KK1 Lawrusso soulmate concept AU, in which Daniel and Lucille move to LA because of Lucille’s new job with the in-house IT department at Dynatox.  It starts in Newark, where we get to see Daniel and Lucille’s life before they move, with Daniel’s grandparents and extended family and friends (and Judy!), as well as seeing Lucille finally get her computer science degree that she put on hold when she met and married David.
As part of the perks for working for Terry Silver, they’ve received a company house in Encino Hills, a fancy company car, and the use of Terry’s personal facilities (pool, hot tub, sauna, tennis court, private dojo, etc.) whenever they want.  As expected, Terry takes a shine to Daniel right away when they first meet, and makes arrangements for him to join Cobra Kai to ensure he has friends in LA.  Terry is very much involved in Cobra Kai and teaches alongside Kreese, though not as often as he’d like due to his other business commitments.
Daniel is introduced to Johnny and the Cobras as a new member of their karate class; due to his limited karate background, Terry gives him ‘extra private lessons’ outside of class to ‘catch him up’ to everyone else.  Little does Daniel know that Kreese is doing the same sort of ‘extra lessons’ arrangement for Johnny, and when they find out about what’s happening to the other and how they’ve both been trapped, they help each other through it and, through that, develop a deeper and closer relationship.  They immediately feel a deep connection to the other when they first meet, and as their relationship develops, can feel the pain the other is feeling when they’re dealing with Kreese and Terry.  It’s their connection and combined strength that give them the courage to fight back.
Mr. Miyagi is a groundskeeper/maintenance employee at Dynatox, and his duties include maintaining Terry’s house, the company homes, and the dojo space.  It’s how he gets to know Daniel, and how he finds Daniel and Johnny in the dojo on several occasions after they’ve been hurt by their teachers, and he takes care of them and helps them and their friends get away from Cobra Kai.
This is the WIP that most resembles a proper fic concept, and the one I was seriously working on and getting ready to write when Rain That Tastes Like Wine popped into my head and I had to set this one aside.  I had to put these fics on hold because Terry is a creepy, nasty piece of work in both and very different from the Terry I am currently writing, and I didn’t want to confuse the characterizations and write them incorrectly.  This is the fic I think I’m most looking forward to writing after I’m done with my current one, so thank you for bringing it back to the forefront of my consciousness.  I’m just trying to focus on one fic at a time right now!
Thank you so much for the asks, and I love that you love my story titles! 💖💖💖
