"SJ abused many talented disciples"
But it wasn't mentioned anywhere other than SY's chapters and I dont trust SY's pov on SJ especially not when he thought that SJ SA-ed NYY,SJ was in love with QHT, killed LQG and helped LBH to kill YQY.
LITERALLY SY is an unreliable narrator. he THINKS he knows everything about PIDW but most of what he thought at the beginning of the novel gets disproved. its... literally an important plot point that SY makes problems for himself bc hes too hung up on what he THINKS he knows about the characters. But like..... 99% of this is shown to be wrong....
in fact... realizing that almost everything he thought about sj is wrong.... is part of what makes him realize that what he has been thinking about LBH has been wrong too. why would we have to take his word from the START OF THE NOVEL about that when he discover he was wrong about everything else?
when sy wakes up all of sj's disciples were crowded around him worried and wanting for their shizun to wake up (except lbh). that.. doesnt exactly make me feel like they all hate him.
sy claims that sj was a lecher who lusted after his students..... but when we actually see sj's pov it turns out he isnt going to the brothels for sex but because thats the only place he can feel comfortable away from men bc of his trauma. we know its canon that he cares for nyy bc sy literally uses sj's care for her as a way to get around ooc and help lbh, but theres literally nothing to imply his affection is sexual in nature. sj saves qht and drags her away from the fire bc he feels indebted to her for being his only escape from the abuse by the other members of her household, not bc hes in love with her. even when saving her puts him in danger bc thats a loose end that can and does come back to bite him. tbh i cant say its canon that hes gay.... but he certainly doesnt seem to show any interest in women and gives "all of his loyalty" to another man and waits for him like a maiden waiting for her lover to return lol
we learn in the sqh extras that not only did sj not kill lqg in the caves but he tried to save him and just failed that time. we literally SEE sj save lqg on the mission with sqh and then get embarrassed and not even ask for credit for it.
sy blames sj for "killing yqy" but when we see the 79 extras.... he literally tries to push him away and tells him to leave when hes captured so that yqy stays safe and literally mentions that when he was FORCED BY LBH to write the letter he tried to make it obvious that its a trap. why is sj being blamed for lbh killing yqy just to hurt him???? sy CLAIMS to know everything about PIDW but literally the point mxtx is making by showing that sy is wrong about everything about sj.... is that maybe he doesnt know as much as he thinks... he thinks that lbh was the cause of the jinlani city plague as well and THAT is wrong too. (it was actually..... sy's fault. for releasing zzl.. OOPS.)
I dont care if he THOUGHT sj was like that at the start of the novel. hes not actually a reliable source!! esp at the start sj definitely DID abuse lbh. i dont think most sj stans will deny that or pretend that what he did was right. but.... we dont actually see him treat any other disciples poorly. if anything sy is the one making everyone else run laps and teaching them nothing to the point that sqh mentions that the disciples turn from "scholars" into "adhd children".... sy HIMSELF admits that its a good thing sj taught his students enough that they can basically run the sect on their own so that he can be lazy and do nothing and delegate to everyone else. i imagine that he might have been a bit strict as a teacher to the other students but thats not the same as abusing all of them. its literally just lbh he had an issue with
sometimes i feel like ppl didnt even read the same book when they take everything sy says at face value. hes a flawed character who is forced to rethink all the things he thought about BOTH sj AND lbh after witnessing sj's backstory makes him realize..... he cant actually assume he knows everything about these characters just bc he read PIDW. SQH himself admits that the sv universe is based on his rough draft, NOT on the dumbed down version that he was forced to write for the $$$ that sy ended up reading
somehow ppl can admit that sy was wrong about other characters but not about sj even when we see him proven wrong on screen??? its really strange... sj did SOME things wrong but not 99% of the shit ppl accuse him of

okay so hear me out, I have a theory.......... I think men are physically stronger than women, yes, but I think women are emotionally stronger than men. Think about it. Sure, theres a lot of emotionally weak women- "handmaidens" for example. But women has always had the advantage of being able to emotionally adapt to the cruelist of environments. Women have always been the ones to teach compassion and empathy.
Im not one of those people who say "oh men are all terrible, they all lack empathy and emotions" but I do think its true that women are the ones who are emotionally superior to men.
Men love to paint women as "emotionally fragile" crybabies and all that. The "hysterical women". They see women's emotional superiority as weakness instead of a gift. When in reality, its always been an advantage.
I mean look at the crime statistics. Look how many men turn to violence (which requires emotional immaturity) when things don't go their way.
Look how TiMs act compared to TiFs. Look how any women acts when she idolizes/relies on men, she becomes emotionally immature.
And if you think about it biologically and spiritually, it makes sense. To survive, women needed to rely on her emotions to weed out undesirable mates. Men needed to be physically strong to defend. Women may be physically weaker, but men are emotionally weaker.
This is why men are such threats. It's that lack of emotion that is dangerous. It's also why abuse from a mother can be more damaging than abuse from a father. Mothers are meant to be the nurturing counterpart. Mothers teach you how to control your emotions and be a better leader as mothers are inherently the "leader" of the relationship. When that relationship is fucked up, when the father is the one "in charge", it destroys everything because the father is less emotional and more out of control. It's why most abusive fathers are more outwardly aggressive. Yet women, who have abusive fathers, are better at handling it than men. Yet when a woman has an abusive mother, it hits harder because it affects her emotional growth.
I like how mainstream media loves to paint abusive mothers as more common than it is. Don't get me wrong, I grown up with an abusive mom. But what people don't talk about is that more often than not it's reactionary abuse. A lot of moms I've seen who were abusive were also "boy moms". It's fucking rare to see a mother who's just naturally abusive toward her children without influence from a man or drugs. Not saying it doesnt happen, but its not "common". Its nowhere near an "unspoken issue thats bigger than people think".
I dunno, im being controversial lol
I FUCKING HAD A CONVERSATION LIKE THIS THE OTHER DAY GIRL I AM GRABBING YOU BY YOUR SHOULDERS AND SHAKING YOU SO HARD BECAUSE YES!!!!!!!!! YES YES YES SYNFHAYZSYSYCYES
yes
YES
THEY LOOOOVE SAYING "women are soooo emotional lol" but they are the ones who KILL WOMEN FOR SAYING 'NO' TO THEM
and
OFTEN
when
MOTHERS ABUSE their KIDS it stems from abuse that came from other places in their lives, the media LOVES talking about evil mothers and highlighting it but men constantly abuse their kids because theyre all emotionally immature idiots who dont know how to regulate their emotions by nature
stoppppp im so happy we're mutuals youre so fucking SMART I WISH I COULD KISS UR BRAIN

there's a bit of a cultural divide between french canada and english canada, does matthew feel like he's more one than the other? I guess the answer could be, he feels both, but then a canadian fluent and familiar with the french and british side isn't the same as one thats only the one side if you know what I mean? maybe it's just where im from but knowing french here is considered very bourgeois lmao like only the rich kids learn french and its largely to tell apart themselves from us. knowing french is our, ohh ok you went to private school, idk if its the same deal for the french side knowing english. probably not seen in the same epitome of class and elegance lmao. but yea point is, being an '''allrounder'' is kinda indicative of class, but matthews meant to represent everyone, so where does he fall on that scale?
The vast majority of Anglo conceptions about French or any language are the hangover of the British Empire speaking. People see bilingualism as something posh people get at posh people's schools. Some French Canadians see English in the same way. But most bilingual people are bilingual because they didn't really have a choice. Language can be indicative of class with educational access, but it's not inherently tied to it.
Given the tying of life span to history in Hetalia, I think there would be a specific attachment given to French as it would be one of Matt's first languages given the nature of the French Empire in Canada before the conquest and auction. And given the demographics of Canada, Matt doesn't have a choice but to be both. He's born to both; he'll die as both, and it's not a weakness. Government bilingualism made bilingualism a trait of the political class. Multiculturalism in this country was born legally because when the French Canadians were such a pain in the ass and forced Anglos to give them rights, other groups, especially Ukrainian, Japanese and Chinese Canadians in the west of Canada, followed. But it's been with us from the very beginning. The first people we might call 'Canadians' were the children of French trappers and indigenous women, something you can still see in the demographics of French Canada. They would have been bilingual as a fact of life.
All these divisions are constructs created by nationalism, capitalism, and empire, not just inherent born and natural things. We made, subverted and changed them every day. He's both and more. It's not an inherently alienating thing. People live, breathe, and love in two languages.
Born French, first language French, but that doesn't make someone incompatible with the anglosphere? There are a lot of people who have French as their first language, and Anglos are absolutely shocked and make weird comments, 'but you're normal!' I don't think Matt would be alien from French or English by being both. Kind of shitty to suggest anyone who's both will never fit anywhere and can't understand a culture by being partially outside of it. People bleed, people love, people live their lives. Class affects people outside of the Anglo world. Culture, language and class isn't a zero-sum game

I fear that i would be sad and becoming a hateful bigot that calls anything that’s different to the norm ‘bad’.How do i become not like this?
well i think the first thing to do is to throw out the idea that you have any clue what 'normal' even is! because none of us do!
normal is a very subjective term. it is affected by the country you grew up in, the culture and religion of your family, the media you consume regularly, the people you spend time with most often, the list goes on
you will never truly understand the vast extent of The Human Experience because there will always be experiences you cannot relate to or empathise with no matter how hard you try. so you need to get into the mindset that Every Single Human Being deserves basic human rights no matter what. they deserve healthcare, housing, food and water, bodily autonomy, etc. because in a society where your rights can be taken away because you did something Bad, the people in charge will find a way to make the people they dont like into Bad People, so that they can get away with taking their rights away. see: homosexuals are paedophiles, trans women are predators, Muslims are terrorists, etc. etc. etc.
the only way to ensure your rights never be taken away is to make sure No Ones Rights Can Be Taken Away Ever, yes even Those people. yes, them too. when i say no one, i mean no one.
keeping an open mind and listening to other peoples experiences is also highly important. if something makes you uncomfortable, sit with that. think about Why it makes you uncomfortable, and whether that is a rational thing to feel about it or if it is a knee jerk reaction that was taught to you by your family or the society you grew up in.
you will have to accept that you Are going to be wrong about some things. you are not always the good guy in every story. you will say bigoted things or be ignorant about something or offend someone, even if you never intended to. and your response to that should not be "omg i didnt mean it im not a bigot i would never do anything bigoted my mums brothers dogs cousin is [insert minority group]!!", it should be "ok, i messed up here. i clearly have much more to learn on this subject. im so sorry for [thing you did/said] and for any harm it caused, i will educate myself so that this doesnt happen again."
and its important to remember that having some internalised bigoted beliefs doesnt make you an Evil Person, you were just raised in a bigoted society. of course you're going to pick these things up thats what humans do! we learn from and copy the behaviours of those we grow up with as children. but you do have to do the work to challenge those beliefs and educate yourself. i believe that people should always be given the opportunity to grow and change, and that often times bigoted behaviour comes from a place of ignorance and fear. these people will never change their beliefs if we treat them like irredeemable monsters, it will just push them further away.
anyway thats my take on it i suppose. other people will have different opinions. i hope this helped you in some way :)

TW for chronic illnesses and body image issues/disphoria and infertility for some headcanons.
Lamikkaku anon here, I wanted to share some headcanons and thoughts about modern AU Lamikkaku because I think I've just come up with the most precious thing ever.
So, I think modern AU Lami would be cronically ill/have some health problems. (I was thinking about her being a survivor to childhood lung cancer that was caused by long term exposure to asbestos, since the Amber Lead Deasease seemed like it was referencing that. And therefore having long term health problems due to treatment)
It would affect her breathing and heart (cue Law deciding to become a cardiosurgeon to help people with similar problems) but also her body and personality as well. The steroids based treatments made her gain weight that she hardly lost, she has scars from various surgeries, and she became an introvert that struggles to meet new people. She feels guilty that she always made her parents worry and made Law miss out on many childhood experiences too, as he hardly saw his parents who were caretaking his sister and was mostly looked after by their godfather Corasan.
Cue my transfemm Ikkaku headcanon. She also struggles with acceptance and body immage issues, worrying about her appearence and not being "feminine enough", as well as some anger issues she develoeped due to tauning from others. I think she may also have issues with her family due to this. It contribuited in her being somewhat "hostile" when trying to meet new people and trusting them.
They met because of Law. Lami doesn't have many friends of her own so she hangs out in his friend group and meets Ikkaku. Its sorta of a love at first sight. Lami looks at Ikkaku and views her basically has a goddess: one with a flawless body, untouched by medical horrors, a sassy and sarcastic personality that sports a level of confidence that she can never have. And Ikkaku sees Lami as an angel: a kind, gentle person with such soft, and a heart of gold thats completely pure, cute ligneaments and a caring and amazing family that loves and supports her.
They start talking and getting close, opening up more to eachother, about their insecurities and fears. The topic of dating eventually comes up and both are very catious about it: Lami isn't sure about what she can give, her health problems are something she always saw as a burden, and she doesn't want to give this burden to anyone else. And Ikkaku thinks she would be awful for Lami, after all Lami is such a nice and kind person, Ikkaku considers herself far too brute to be good for her.
There is also another added thing... Lami can't have children. The treatment made her sterile, and its something she always knew but only really started grieving now. Part of her thinks this makes her an inadequate partner, a not good enough girlfriend (Bullshit, Lami is perfect and you know it) and Ikkaku also had mixed feelings about her own body functions, with transphobes harrassing her and saying shit like "ReAl WoMeN CaN GiVe BiRtH!!!" (Bullshit, I fucking hate this terf behaviour).
The two of them understand eachother deeply due to these things about themselves. Ikkaku never saw Lami's health as an obstacke, it just something that is part of her and makes her unique, and Lami doesn't give a shit about Ikkaku being trans, she loves her because of her personality and the way she is treated by her.
Eventually they do manage to start dating. Its a gradual process, but it doesn't matter because they have their love. They also protest and advocate for themselves, weather its trans/queer rights or better funding and medical treatments (insurance is a SCAM) and marriage equality in both cases.
Law couldn't be happier for her (he doesn't show it at all but he cries of happyness in a corner at least 5 times a day. Bepo calms him down) he also goes on double dates with them and [insert character you ship Law with].
And occasionally there are double dates with Penguin and Shachi as well (Penshachi and transmasc Penguin my beloved) but they have to be very carefull because if they mess something up Law will come after them with a weapon of mass destruction.
And Cora is so proud of them!!! His little girl finally finding confidence, loving her own skin, advocating for herself and all with the love of her life by her side. This man is so goddam happy you wont believe it!!! He gives Ikkaku his full blessing and some older transfolk advice (transmasc Corasan my beloved) he is already picturing their wedding, and he's crying about it. Someone get this man a tissue, or a blanket.
This is all so beautiful!! I've always loved Modern AUs but this one is especially soft. I love how they both have their own issues feeling loved but end up overcoming them together,,, Also, Cora would be the best father-in-law ever in the world. He's so. So happy. He loves Ikkaku so damn much-- And I think Law is concerned at first because he loves and trusts his friends a lot but whenever Lami and Ikkaku go on dates. Together. Alone. Law worries a lot in case something might happen. But Ikkaku is a sweetie with Lami and when Law realizes that everything is okay and the world isn't ending and nobody is dying he cries because he's just so so so relieved.

Sea Mystery
Post-Episode: s06e03 Triangle
Part of the Scully is a human Series
She got into her car and stared out the windshield hands on the steering wheel in a daze. She didn’t turned it on, or even put the key into the ignition.
He loved her.
Her heart dropped in fear and uncertainty. It was one thing to lose control in the heat of the moment and kiss. Or almost kiss. It was another for him to proclaim he’d loved her so seriously and surely like that.
She put her head in her hands and squirmed at what she’d said. Oh brother? How could she have said that?! Not said something, anything, back to him? He’d be crushed.
But surely he hadn't meant it? He’d been pumped full of dilaudid and pain medicine for the retrosternal chest pain he’d had from the secondary drowning symptoms he’d developed.
A burning heat rose in her face. She was lying to herself as if she wasn’t a medical doctor. Neither pain medication or dilaudid would lead someone to lying or confessing a mistaken belief that wasnt actually true.
He loved her.
She knew she liked being in his presence, looked forward to seeing him every day. He was not unpleasant to look at, and she liked feeling his eyes on her whenever he had the chance. She'd known she loved him for a long while.
Yes, she’d imagined things before, early in their partnership before shed been abducted. It had been hard not to, his passion for their work caught her up in its flames and he'd been such an odd compliment to who she was.
But then she was abducted and her life had changed. Shed felt her old self had been a bit idiotic after returning. Naïve perhaps was a better word. She'd been desperate to focus her efforts on finding those who'd taken her, who'd harmed her and all those women. Acting on feelings for anyone fell by the wayside.
But after the cancer, the way he’d been with her. The way he’d supported her could only engender unbidden feelings of affection.
When she’d found out about what they’d done to her, she’d felt damaged. She wouldn’t be able to give anyone children. She wouldn’t be able to have children for herself. There was a seismic shift that needed to happen within her as she adjusted her expectations for her life. And giving into daydreams about him felt comically futile. The stolen piece of her body still filled her with anxiety just thinking about it. She'd settled for being his partner.
And then he’d bared his soul to her when she’d had a crisis of faith in their partnership. And she had just said ‘Oh brother’ when he’d said I love you. She leaned her head on the steering wheel and exhaled “Fuck.” Under her breath.
All of that had been a while ago though. Shed been completely caught off guard in there. After Antarctica, Mulder had been distant and withdrawn, even hostile at times. She'd been confused and hurt but she had tried to understand. Tried to be patient. He’d told her he needed her like she knew she needed him. That was enough. Their work was enough. So in the familiar way she knew, she forced herself to wall those feelings up and tuck them away neatly. Was it any wonder she'd said ‘Oh brother’?
He loved her.
She picked her head up and rubbed her face. He wouldn’t have said it if he hadn’t been drugged. And thats all that mattered. It was a fluke, a drug induced fluke. She put her key in and turned the ignition on, a small smile playing on her lips.
End.

HERES WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE GOD ON THE ORIGINAL CHARACTER TUMBLR FIGHT.
Tumblr media
I'M NOW GONNA GIVE YOU A LIST OF WHAT THINGS MAKE HIM LIKEABLE AND WHY HE SHOULD WIN.
1- HE'S A MAD SCIENTIST
A FUN THING ABOUT GOD IS THAT AFTER YEARS OF BEING TRAPPED IN A LOOP OF ENDLESS DEATH HE FOUND A FUN WAY TO PASS TIME, AND BY THAT I MEAN MAKING CREATURES IN THE LAB. TO THIS DAY HE HAS CREATED A WORM OFF A STRING, A FLUFF BALL, SOME SORT OF RECTANGLE AND! THE MOST IMPORTANT CREATION! HIS KID! LUCI!
HE ALSO HAS A HUSBAND, THEY MET IN THE WORMHOLE WHERE AN HOUR AFTER MEETING HIM HE GAVE HIS HUSBAND TOP SURGERY. THEY LOVE EACHOTHER VERY MUCH.
Tumblr media
2- HES PATHETIC. AND I DONT MEAN IT IN THE "OOOU POOR GUY" WAY, HE IS PATHETIC, THE KIND OF SMOKES A BLUNT AND GETS SO SO SO SCARED. HE'S ALSO INCREDIBLY SHORT, BEING 5'2 AND ALMOST ALL (except two) OF HIS CREWMATES TOWER OVER HIM. MEANING HE ALSO GETS BULLIED.
3- SURPRISE! HES A FATHER OF TWO! TURNS OUT THAT HAVING ONE KID WASNT ENOUGH! NOW HES GOT A DEMIGOD CHILD THAT HE FOUND ON A POCKET DIMENTION.
Tumblr media
-4 SURPRISE! HES GOT NO CHILDREN ANYMORE. (for a bit)
IT DOESNT MATTER HOW MUCH HE LOVES HIS FAMILY, HES BOUND TO LOOSE THEM ALL. FIRST HE LOSES HIS HUSBAND AND FIRST CHILD BY BEING TRANSPORTED TO ANOTHER WORMHOLE, HE'S GOT NO CHANCES OF TALKING TO THEM OR CONTACTING THEM ANYMORE. HE'S COMPLETELY ALONE AND WITH NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THEYRE DOING FINE. THATS WHEN HE GETS ATTACHED TO ONE OF HIS CREWMATES, AND EVEN IF IT MIGHT HAVE STARTED AS A WAY OF REPLACING HIS ORIGINAL CHILD HE ALSO STARTS TO THINK OF THEM AS HIS OWN. PROBLEM IS THAT THEY'RE STILL ON A DEATH SHIP, SO THIS ISNT GOING TO LAST, SK GETS THROWN OUT THE AIRLOCK, LEFT TO DIE ALONE IN SPACE WITH NO ONE TO COMFORT THEM. GOD FINDS THEM AND TRIES TO HELP BUT HES TOO LATE, THERES NOTHING HE CAN DO NOW.
Tumblr media
5- WOMEN LOVE HIM! WHILE ON THE WORMHOLE HE MEETS A REALLY ATTRACTIVE WOMAN WHO HAS A VERY CLEAR CRUSH ON HIM! HE DOES NOT CARE, AT ALL, HE'S TOO BUSY THINKING ABOUT HIS HUSBAND. (art made by my friend)
Tumblr media
6- MOVING SHIPS KIND OF AFFECTED HIM WHILE HE WAS ON THE ORIGINAL SHIP HE WAS COCKY, MEAN AND A BIT INSANE (he still is)! THIS ENTIRE DEMEANOR CHANGED THE SECOND HE MOVED SHIPS, NOW HES SCARED 24/7 ALL THE TIME. HE CRIES, HE WEEPS AND HE SINGS SONGS HE USED TO DEDICATE TO HIS HUSBAND TO PASS THE TIME.
Tumblr media
7-HES FULLY HUMAN! HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN BORN OUT OF THE GROUND LIKE A POTATO BUT HES GENETICALLY 100% HUMAN, NOTHING ELSE IN THERE! NUH UH! 8- HES. HES GOT THE BIGGEST BREASTS ON THE ENTIRE SHIP (i'm being held at gunpoint)
Tumblr media
10- HE CAN ALSO DO A CARTWHEEL! THINK OF THAT WHEN VOTING. (this is a lie, hes not flexible at all.) 11- HES GOT A GREAT MUSIC TASTE. GO LOOK AT HIS PERSONAL PLAYLIST OF THINGS HE WOULD LISTEN TO OR TO THE ONE THATS JUST HIM AS A CHARACTER OR TO HIS OLD ONE Complementary god jerma pose as a way to end the post.

i dont understand how conservative desire for single sex spaces differs from feminist reason. i understand that conservatives typically think of trans people as gay plus, sure, but like. in the actual desire for single sex spaces, what difference does it make
the difference it makes is in the bills they push through and the lack of care or provision for the fallout of those bills. if conservatives were pushing through a bill that said all use of mens/womens bathrooms, shelters, changing rooms, etc should be decided on birth sex alone - what are they putting in place to enable that? birth sex is not something stated on legal documents, bc legal sex can be changed. so how does one prove their sex? what happens to transmen who pass as male? i don't think most women are going to be happy with them coming into female spaces. how do they prove that that's actually where they're legally required to be? and what DOES happen to transwomen who pass as female and are forced to use male spaces? that IS dangerous for them and i understand its not the job of feminism to care about that issue but i personally do. and people can say "well this issue doesn't affect passing trans people bc no-one will ever know" but that only works if the person is completely stealth, which not every passing trans person is. and hell, what about passing butches?? how do THEY prove they're women if we know ID doesnt always reflect birth sex? all these people are just collateral damage to conservatives and i'm not okay w that.
ok. i will level with u. thats me making smthn up on the fly to justify my position. it didnt go very well at first so i gave up, but then i thought on it some more nd went back to it and i think that response does stand on its own now. at first i kind of thought "well, i guess this is the one issue we DO pretty much agree on" but the way conservatives do things is still always going to leave a lot of people caught in the middle and they definitely don't care enough to make sure those people are considered in their lawmaking.
however. u know the real answer? like the instinctive gut answer? because i dont fucking trust them. i dont fucking trust them and i dont trust them bc ive seen OTHER shit theyve pulled in this vein. like the anti-transition bills that have given no consideration to people who are ALREADY transitioning and would suddenly cut off their hrt or blockers if they don't meet the new requirements; like the bill against gender non-conformity in public spaces sold to the public as being about protecting children from predators within drag communities; like the combination of the attempt to reclassify authorising a child to transition as a sexual abuse with the introduction of the death penalty for sexual abuse. i do not fucking trust them and i know they do not have womens or childrens interests at heart i know this all just comes from them finding transgenderism degenerate and i do not think any good can come from supporting them bc they are always trying to slip smthn in under the radar they are always presenting laws to the public as one thing but wording them just right so that they actually have a whole different effect than people expected.
also, as a sort-of sidenote: given that regular ass people don't actually vote on laws, just elect people to do that, what would supporting their bills actually mean? voting for conservatives who will pass anti-gay anti-trans anti-woman pro-gender laws in the hope that they also throw a "oh and womens spaces for women only" in there? promoting the politicians who proposed the bills? i guess there's contacting state representatives and asking them to vote yes or no on a specific bill, but i get the impression most people don't really do that and more just make a public show of support for such-and-such a bill, which also promotes the party and the politician.

hi i dont know how to start this so im just going to get right into it
i never understood why twitter got so mad at this clip ever since i saw it live i actually thought i was more good than bad? that might sound crazy but the fact as a 16 year old cis guy got called a lesbian and didnt go "ew im not a LESBIAN!??!" and actually thought about it for a second.
i think thats perfectly normal at that age to wonder that to wonder about your sexual and gender identity. hell i did and i think if i never did that as a teen i would have never accepted the idea of me being a trans guy.
now this brings me to the point of this essay. i think if twitter didnt have a shit party over that clip he would be more comfortable expressing himself femininity and accepting his bisexuality.
sure he doesnt have a problem flirting with guys as we've seen but they've always been less "masc" than his whole "big man" persona i think he finds it easier to flirt with guys (with the exception of ranboo of course) if he views them as more fem or even as a women perhaps
im not one to truthing him being trans or clem being real but im not against it. this also isnt me truthing him as being trans. i think cis people expressing femininity and masculinity is so important male or female (femininity and masculinity are ALWAYS put as things that go inherently together, but for some reason theyre never put as things that compliment eachother but thats a whole different topic)
but what do i really know? i dont have an audience of 12 million on youtube and 7 miliion on twitch i cant imagine that many eyes on you just waiting to judge you on your every move
Anon I admire the drive but I’m afraid you’ve sent this to the person who authored the “Tommy being Bi won’t fix him” post, so I must stick to my convictions on this one.
(As an aside, for those who don’t know, meet Clementine!)
I was not directly around for The Lesbian Moment, but I think I heard the gunshots down the street. I think it’s hugely under-emphasised how everyone was on the back of a world-changing mass death event spread out over the course of at least two years around that time, and the way that it (reasonably, all things considered) affected the way people handled stress. People were very sensitised to a lot of things, and it doesn’t surprise me that this would be a case where zooming out from what the problem was ‘supposed to be about’ would reveal a massive soup of situational stressors looking for a fracturing point to express themselves.
As thousands of people were all suddenly shoved online to share the same spaces, the social processes involved with creating norms and group standards had tons of gas thrown on them. It was going to be messy no matter what, people were electing scapegoats left and right to set social standards about what was and wasn’t acceptable. This is grim but important context (Tw), lockdown was horrific for rates of at-home physical and sexual abuse. Being a woman online in general is a state of psychological warfare against an objectifying culture. I remember talk about how his audience was divided even then, a group of lesbians were like “hell yeah we can let Tommy join /nsrs” and then another group were not even remotely okay with that even as a joke.
People were sensitised to feeling invaded in a time where lockdown had personal agency down to record lows, especially for teenagers and children. In a world where you have next to no agency or personal control over your circumstances, having a say in dominant moral narratives and the accepted behavior of people skyrockets in value, because you’re constantly in other people’s power. People were profoundly invested in the few square inches of control that they could/did have, so they were deeply reactive with it. A lot of pandemic reactivity was the behavior of people who felt over-activated and cornered, so while it’s possible to critique the outrage and take it apart on the terms that it presented itself on, it’s important to understand it as part of a whole as well.
👏 ON TO THE GAY SHIT
I feel like what goes into Tommy flirting with each of the men he’s flirted with in the past has been a little bit different. Tubbo seemed like possessive best friend claiming mushed into a straight lens with a side of teasing (I like girls, I like Tubbo, Tubbo is girl.) Ranboo was a fascinating intersection of girlfriend sublimation and flirtation to raise his self-esteem, also a bit of an apology for the not-so-passive-aggression from when it looked like Ranboo had “stolen” Tubbo. I wasn’t around for TimeDeo, but fuck it, that counts too. I don’t think that the majority of his homosocial flirting was to make himself seem more masc, especially with Ranboo. (I’ll spare you examples but that particular stretch has some moments.)
Tommy had a ‘playing toughguy’ problem when he was younger, and it contributed to some of his worst habits in terms of what came out of his mouth. I would have attributed a lot of this to his environment, the influences that he related to both positively (edgy youtubers) and negatively (macho schoolmates.) He was very teenage boy, but even then he had an off-beat streak that I impressionistically related to as more femme, even when he was being abrasive. Ever since being forcibly civilised through Wilbur and the forces of the internet he’s had much less of that, but his femme streak has stayed in some form or another, just evolving to fit what’s needed of him at a given time.
The rate at which Tommy being a cishet man comes up as a genuine issue that people feel compelled to try and see resolved is interesting, even as someone who occasionally feels it myself. Like there’s got to be something to unpack in that dynamic, that whatever behavioral issue he’s experiencing at a given time feels tied to his identity as a cishet male and something that can be revised if he had the right personal revelations. The issue is, I just don’t think it’s true, or at least wouldn’t make the difference that some people would want it to make. Some of his problems could even be tied up in his Englishness, and that’s straight up incurable. It’s hard for me to imagine that having a sexuality related revelation would make that big of a difference in the grand scheme of… him as a person. He’s got a lot of moving parts.
I do feel some frustration on behalf Tommy in terms of being a target of essentialist thought. He’s not allowed to be as camp as he probably wants to be because it comes off as offensive to gay culture, and he’s not allowed to be overtly femme because people are strict about policing gender expression right now if a given person doesn’t take on a certain label that corresponds with it. He’s assumed to have the worst intentions if he isn’t directly part of a certain group, and he really is clumsy with things that he doesn’t understand so he can be better off sometimes keeping his hands inside his box, but it’s still kind of sad to see the roundabout way that these binaries re-enforce themselves with someone like him. At the same time, try not to mourn over ‘what could have been’, because it’s still a form of essentialism to think that having traits more commonly associated with non-cishet identity would solve his problem-of-the-week, and there’s no guarantee that’s the case.

Leftist Jewish American counterpoint:
You have no stakes in this, and also, mostly just nod along in agreement to, "Free Palestine", right? Because thats one of the many generally agreed upon rules of being progressive? We generally condemn colonialism, oppression, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, etc.)
So really quick information:
Hamas is funded by Hezbollah, an islamofascist terrorist group much like Al Qaeda, in Lebanom, funded largely by Iran, and other dogmatic, alt right, conservative sharia-law led factions. These people hate you, you liberal, queer, atheist, feminist infidels) These people are dangerous, radical, antiwestern extremists and literally starving and victimizing the Palestinians to use as their puppet martyrs, hijacking humanitarian aid and donations to them from Israel, the US, UN and NATO, while actively trying to create violent conflict in order to promote their narrative that Israel is actually the great colonialist oppressor ruining their lives. They literally don't give a fuck about the Palestinians and radicalize them with false narratives and blatant lies and propaganda to get their support and garner sympathy and concern from the western world, when their true, unapologetically blatant, factually spoken objective is to eliminate every last Jewish person from the face of existence.
There is a reason they were invading Israeli houses and shouting for "Jews" rather than "Israelis'" to come out from hiding to kidnap, kill and rape innocent women, children and elderly. They are literally Nazis. But you've bought into their narrative, and it's so easy to hate Jews, isnt it? so here we are. (You dont hate Jews, and condemn antisemitism though, right?)
What many of you think of as your "antizionism" is actually straight up antisemitism remarketed for your simple, surface consumption! BECAUSE, you dont care enough, it doesn't effect you.
So you're not actually well informed on the complex geopolitical history of the land over the past 2500 years.
Of course we all condemn colonialism, segregation and bigotry, but thats the history of humanity. We are in general, tribalistic at core, and only naturally altruistic to our own kind. We, as progressives do our best to overcome that base human instinct for the betterment of humanity.
Personally?
Fuck Netanyahu, fuck Israel's conservative government, their violence, their rampant human rights violations, their tacit avoidance of peace accords. the majority of Israelis, who also regularly demonstrate and join in rallies to Free Palestine, have nothing but criticism for their fundie leaders and want peace and integration with their Palestinian neighbors desperately. I agree, FREE PALESTINE. Give them their own state and tear down the walls and fences and tightly policed borders, allow them and help them to build self supportive infrastructure, let them into their common shared religious sites without apartheid like segregated territories preventing this. The vast majority of Palestinians are not the enemy. MOST WANT PEACE. Progressive Israelis are not the oppressor colonists, as youve been spoonfed by the vocal corrupt in charge of these terrorist organizations to believe. Most Askenazi settlers fled pogroms from Eastern European countries to the only safe haven that would accept them in. There are also many Sephardic Jews who are indigenous to Israel and lived peacefully for centuries alongside Palestinian neighbors.
Why does this have any affect on you, western progressives?
People are dying and suffering. They may not be in your country, but you can at least have some compassion for that fact.
Also this will effect the global economy, which, guess what? Will very much hurt you, and gas prices, and groceries and imports and taxes.
Before you form opinions on this very complicated subject, you should probably study the last 2500 years of the geopolitical history of the middle east, it might help.
Also, if you don't actually care because it doesn't have any bearing on you or your life, then why do you have any opinions on any global, international events? It's just a very odd take and raised a flag or two about your true biases.

Okay, but I cannot get the twin a.u with dark!aegon and dark!rhaegar with innocent!niece out of my head 🤭 here are some headcanons bc I can🤭
- first thing is first.
- the niece has seriously scary dog privileges.
-ok, now, while the niece was the eldest of rhaenyra's children, she was younger then the twins by a year.
-Rhaegar immediately grew attached and soon enough guards saw them running through the halls gleefully or her head on his lap as he read a history book, a flowercrown on his head and sipping wine under a tree.
- Aegon, however, didn't really care. Not until he had got black out drunk and the niece had offered to take him to bed, tucking him in. At that moment, he swore he saw an angel.
- thats when it clicked.
-a silent agreement was made between the twins.
- and so, the troublesome trio was born.
- for a nameday, they had both gifted her gold rings, which she never took off.
- one of them includes her favorite stone in it while the twins have matching ones, with their own favorite stones.
- where ever you would see the twins, their niece would follow.
-they would somewhat try to be on their best behaviour in front of their beloved niece.
-like Helaena, their niece was fascinated by bugs. Particular, butterflies.
- anytime one of them would hear somebody commenting how weird it was for her to like bugs, they would tag team them and beat them senseless, lmao.
- they are just overly protective.
-one name day, they gave her a gold ring with her favorite stone in it. They then showed her they all had the same ring, the only difference being the stones.
- both of them love to play and fiddle with the rings. They would go in for a hand hold before playing and twisting the rings.
- shared secrets. Like how their beloved niece caught the eye of a guard to which the niece has returned the guard's affection.
-people would have not been surprised if a betrothal between the niece and one of them (or both) was already in the words. Considering how close they all were.
- Even Nyra wasn't against it.
-many people found it odd, to say the least. An angel like her and the demon twins.
- but it worked.
- surprisingly, there was no jealously between the twins. Only when another man would try to flirt or win her hand. All hell would break lose.
- so the realm nicknamed her the princess protected by the two headed dragon.
- the good times had sadly come to an end when news came.
- their beloved niece would have to get married.
- unsurprisingly, they began working on a plan to get ride of what poor soul would have the guts to face them.
- they heard of what had (or may not have) happened between Daemon and Nyra when she was their age.
-so, they snuck her out when it was dark. Making sure they held onto her so she wouldn't get left behind.
- of course, they went to a brothel. Where it got heated, lmao. But they wanted to pace themselves. So they did.
- until the morning.
- lets just say Daemon and Nyra wasn't thrilled to find the twins taking their daughter out of the castle and to a brothel after dark and defiling her.
- plot twist tho, after they had left her, she made her way home by herself where she ran into the guard she had semi entered into a relationship with. Where then she her maidenhood.
-she entrusted a maid to keep quiet and to bring her moon tea. She couldn't risk it.
- not even trying to deny it, Aegon does what Aegon does best. "It's better her first experience be with one of us then some whore!"
- leading daemon to kick him. He isn't angry about the whole fucking before marriage thing but he knows what the realm thinks about women who have their own minds and desires.
- while Rhaegar is more level headed but like his twin, doesn't deny anything happend.
- the niece however...
- she is called to her mothers chambers while Daemon deals with the twins.
-she denys everything. "Neither of them touched me. All we did was go into town. It was nothing."
- rhaenyra can tell when her daughter is lying but like the great mother she is, she isn't angry. She just takes her daughters hands. After all, she had done the same thing, who was she to judge?
loveeeee this!!!!! 🥵🥵🥵🥵

Hi marciabrady, I just wanted to pop in and say how much I appreciate you standing up for classic Disney films. I love Sleeping Beauty so much everything from the artistry of every frame, the music being from the ballet, Mary Costa's wonderful voice in Once Upon A Dream, all the voices were wonderful I can't imagine anyone else especially Philip he adds a lot to Once Upon A Dream, to the character animations being just so inhumanly elegant and smooth especially for Aurora, how kind and dutiful and romantic and gorgeous she is, how maternal and proactive the fairies are, how strong and determined and charming Philip is, how deliciously evil Maleficent is, its simply one of the greatest films of all time period. It makes me so sad to see the studio that is built on stories like this go back to "fix them" and in the process tarnish the story and their reputation. It feels like nowadays people can't appreciate fairy tales and try to suck the charm and magic from them. Not every women has to be a rebellious warrior or go "screw the patriarchy" because she doesn't need a man and is an independent girlboss. Some characters have a quiet strength to them, and thats okay. Sorry this got really ramble-y but thx and again, I love your blog!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate receiving this and getting to hear from someone who enjoys the multitudes of artistry that went into crafting the original movies.
I completely agree with you about how the studios have given into hating on their own works because of bad-faith criticisms from people who will never like these movies. Like they are not the audience to pander to. Ngl it was a little gratifying to hear Elle Fanning repent in some of her interviews for the second Maleficent movie and say Aurora was her own person and had her own personality and she didn't have to be a warrior to be strong, and she actually spoke about the value Aurora had (unlike the press for the first film where she just kept saying Aurora was nothing but a pretty princess and her job was to deepen that. It's too bad Elle's Aurora was so inferior to the original). Unfortunately, this is not only affecting the production of these cursed live action remakes, but I feel like it's greatly contributing the homogenization and the commercialization of art. Which, I understand all films to some extent have always had an element of being commercialized, but...it's just getting so bad and I feel like it's really desecrating what was once the American artform. I think the Disney Renaissance really, if it continued with the same creative team, could've gone on to produce Walt-era level worthy films, and I'm genuinely hoping we can return one day. Walt wanted animation to become a genre, not just "for children" and I think over the past twenty years, we've literally made these films only for children.
I'm hoping to make a difference with the appreciation posts I do so that people out there can see the values these original characters have and see how nuanced and different and unique they are and return to that form, or at least vary their own style a little bit instead of sticking with the same thing. I know responses to criticisms used to garner a lot of attention, but I think I might stick with making appreciation posts from now on. We'll see. Whatever it is, like I mentioned I think this is an issue that's affecting so much of our life and how we see each other, and I'm not content with just writing about it on my personal anymore. I'm hoping I'll be able to write an article somewhere, to garner new audiences and hopefully change the minds of many people or at least spark a conversation. I just genuinely am horrified that this redundant rhetoric is persisting and I really hope I can make a difference.

got around to rereading that essay abt jason todd and victim blaming and yeah... yeah.
like in an ideal world i wouldve loved if the death of jason todd meant a shake up in batman's status quo but looking back at it all....it hardly changed anything at all, really. you would think that a narrative built on a man who was so affected by the loss of his parents that he turned to bat costumed crime-fighting would be extremely affected by the death of his Own Kid... but no, it didnt really do much??? i mean i guess jason todd became a stain on batman's legacy, His Greatest Regret.... but thats so like, eh. huh.
Tumblr media
^it becomes like this. (The Woman Dies by Aoka Matsuda) im very aware this passage is about women as a social class and feminism and the like, but i do find the idea it's representing is in a way applicable to this case, bc children as a social class are similar to women, in the way agency is stripped from them and the subsequent oppression that follows etc etc
pairing the passage of both pics together it really paints the picture of like... they just didnt know what to do with robin. like my ideal perception of batman is one who is changed by jason's death but historically? jason's death hardly changed a thing. it was very much a cheap Stuffed in the Fridge ordeal. and its interesting to me bc even now they still dont really know what to do with robin. the arkham games, the recent batman movies, they either barely feature robin or just have robin completely wiped. (so i wonder what tim drake was off doing that made him into a rather???? popular?? modern robin? i think?? idk i gotta research that still)
theres so much to say about this like classism duh and editorial laziness (like pre-crisis jason was literally just a lazy grayson clone) and also.... ephebiphobia??? holy shit is that really the word for anti-youth. seriously. theres gotta be an easier word for that... and also the dissonance between the 'compassionate' batman driven by the desire to protect after losing what was most dear to him but also piece of shit batman who blames his own son for his death?? and comic book culture and of course the victim blaming where jason the fictional character is blamed rather than editors being like 'yeah i just did not like this fawking character' bla bla bla and like who is the audience for a batman with no robin and whatever.... so much to say about it

Rape cw child abuse cw intimate partner violence cw
If gendered violence is the result of political social and economic power, and thats the end of the discussion, why doesnt every single parent abuse their kid and every single husband abuse their wife? Obviously the broad power structures that govern society are not a complete explanation. Its a crucial foundation to the explanation that is too often dismissed, but some people have over corrected (and sometimes i find that over correction suspicious).
I find it really disturbing seeing ppl act like its intellectually unsound to assess whether value systems or behaviour patterns normalise, promote, enable etc sexual violence. bc sexual violence is a product of society and therefore we can only examine it at the societal level. Its a product of society insofar as its committed by individuals who are products of society. But when we act as conduits for society we mediate it with our (socially formed) individuality. This does not mean subscribing to a narrative of individual sexual deviance.
we can look at rapists and abusers and try to determine what characteristics distinguish them from others. My general belief is that its about value systems, capacity to see women as human beings, girl children as human beings. Its probably also to do with opportunity and risk assessment.
These are things i want to know more about. I think a lot of people affected by sexual violence want to know more about sexually violent people. I just find it really basically disrespectful to disparage people who want to get into more detail about what practices and values enable one person to rape another person. Im telling you its more specific than "the patriarchy".
