can I just say those jokes where straight characters get made fun of (or make fun of themselves) for "seeming" gay...those jokes aren't harmless or non-homophobic just bc the character in question isn't actually gay. homosexuality--and the idea that it is undesirable or cringey to be perceived as such--is still the punchline.

making a straight character the target of a homophobic joke doesn't make the joke less homophobic--just more palatable to straight people who still want to laugh at queerness as a concept
