it's immensely funny to me how andrew lloyd webber read this passage from the book and was like yeah the journey down to the phantom's lair is this really breathtaking magical gondola ride where christine is just captivated by the strange and fantastical beauty of it all (see below)
when in the novel they're both like in a rowboat in the dark with christine scared out of her mind and confused as hell while erik is paddling like he's out for an extreme day of fishing and just staring christine down for the entire duration of the journey without blinking once . like mind you his eyes quite literally GLOW in the DARK and he's just fucking staring into her soul and silently rowing and probably not even breathing like

There's something to be said about Heaven Sent/Hell Bent, despite the Doctor overthrowing the Time Lord Council and spending four and a half billion years in the confession dial and him and Clara and Me meeting at the end of universe, therefore technically spanning the longest time span, being fundamentally the smallest in stakes of any of the modern Doctor Who finales. At the end of the day, there is no threat to earth or the galaxy or the universe or reality. It's just about two people and the way that they turn each other inside out and the way that they reflect each other as two sides of the same coin and the way their relationship was always going to end this way- with the flip of the coin, spinning in the air, each trying to override the other, each trying to take control of the story, each haunting each other forever.
It's under my microscope. It's rotating rent free in my head. It's everything good about Moffat's writing- fairytale vibes, wrenching character work, two characters that thematically parallel each other- and none of the bad, because he's not trying to be too clever or fuck with the rules too much, there's a couple of simple concepts played straight to their inevitable conclusions: Clara Oswald needs to die but the Doctor can't let it happen, he wants her to forget but she can't let it happen, so they both will do the most devasting things in the world to stop the other and they both get their way in the end but only in a way that will leave them haunting each other forever.
And it's so fucking good.

For the OC ask meme:
🍅 (Tomato) - If Kirby absorbed them or their attacks, what Copy Ability [or Abilities] would he get? Alternatively, if they themselves are capable of using the Copy Ability, do they have a favourite?
🎶 (Music Notes) - Do they play any instruments? What kind of leitmotif and/or battle theme would they have? Are there any songs you associate with them?

aCk? what aRe you talking About?! everybody knowS waddle dee's don't give anytHing!

starstruck doesn't play any instruments well, but she can bang a tambourine with the best of them during a festival dance! there are a million-and-one songs i associate with her in general, but as for leitmotifs... my personal favourite tracks in kirby, especially for storytelling, are sparkling star and supreme rulers coronation. of course.
i think she'd have something that started off plucky, which is what you'd hear in normal everyday encounters-- but in different circumstances, the track would become ominous and orchestral. i think there'd be a significant amount of welcome to dream land mixed in there; probably references to the others as well; and with their help it would eventually turn determined, dramatic and triumphant
personally i do think there would be at least one section with a quiet, melancholic, piano/choir/music box style rendition of otherworldly warrior, if you can possibly imagine that. now that i'm saying it i really want to hear it, and i wish i could make music!

i think baldur's gate should add a feature where i can give my companions presents. and they could limit approval you can gain through that so you cannot cheese high approval rates. but i think i should have the option to shower my motley crew of disaster bisexuals with presents if i want to.
i also think that when you reach high approval with a companion, but you are not romancing them, you should be able to ask them for a hug, much like you can ask to kiss the companion you have a romantic relationship with. which would likely necessitate a method of clarifying that your player is not romantically interested in a companion, without you know, breaking their heart. a feature i'm sure that would be MOST welcomed by the playerbase.
