And for my name, there’s a kinda long story behind it, but the short version is my grandad used to call me Nerdy or clever or anything like that, he always said being smart and working hard to be smart was the best thing a person could do and I really looked up to him as everything I wanted to be when I grew up. Then when I came online in lockdown during Covid, it was just a whim that stuck to go by Nerd, or ThatNerd on Ao3 but the user was taken so I added bits till I found something available. After he died, it became more sentimental but generally it was just a lockdown thing that stuck.

This is purely my personal opinion, you may not agree with it! I will be based on the canon, my views and attitude towards this ship. I’ll say right away that validity, overvaluation and canonicity are relative concepts, everyone has their own. I ship characters based on several criteria:

1. Relationships of characters (Mutual sympathy, friendship or supposed friendship (if the characters are not familiar). I don’t ship enemies and those who have unpleasant relationships)

2. Combination of characters' colors (For example, Saimatsu: Kaede - pink, Shuichi - blue)

3. My attitude towards one of the characters. That is, I will not ship my favorite character with my least favorite one

I'm also a fan of unusual ships, but there's a limit. Unusual ships are divided into 2 types:

1. Well-founded

2. It’s as if the characters were chosen by roulette, that is, very strange

Well... I think I've said everything, let's begin

First I will evaluate the popular ships with Toko. Namely Togafuka and Tokomaru

1. Togafuka (Toko/Byakuya)

Honestly, this is the most toxic ship I've ever seen.... Especially if you remember Byakuya's attitude towards Toko. He insulted her, wished her death, framed her at trial, and as a result, people idealize a disgusting attitude both towards a person and towards themselves (this is about Toko). I think Toko deserves a lot more treatment. Yes, he changed a little at the end of the 1st game, as well as in UDG and in the 2nd season of the anime, but this does not change his terrible attitude towards her

When I first joined the fandom, I was looking for some Toko ship that I would like. But at the moment I didn't know about the existence of Fukaguji, and I didn't like Tokomaru, so I had to watch Togafuka content :_

2. Tokomaru (Toko/Komaru)

For me, this ship is too overrated.... Even too much. People turned a blind eye to 2 facts that prevent this ship:

1. Toko’s attitude towards such a love line

Toko literally hates yaoi and yuri. Well, a person who hates this is unlikely to date a person of the same gender. Yes, Jack likes this genre, but that doesn't mean she likes girls. Moreover, this was not mentioned anywhere. And I don't understand people who say Toko is a lesbian. How can she be a lesbian if she likes Byakuya... In theory, she is definitely not a lesbian anymore

Okay, people don't pay attention to this fact, okay. But now let's move on to the next fact

2. Age difference

If you read the wiki, you can see that Komaru is 15 years old, and Toko, due to memory loss, is somewhere around 20-21. Well... As for me, this is a very unpleasant fact... Especially considering the fact that Komaru is underage. In Japan, adulthood begins at age 20.

I see their relationship as mentor and student. They are definitely friends, but nothing more

3. Chitoko (Toko/Chihiro)

To be honest, I don't know why they ship them. Most likely they are shipped because they are both shy and introverted, and also hide their real personalities (Toko has her split personality, and Chihiro has his true gender). I have nothing to say about this thorn, well, it’s supposed to be there and that’s all

4. Ishitoko (Toko/Kiyotaka)

Same situation as Chitoko. I don't know what to say about him. No idea why they ship them. I just don't care about this ship

5. Leotoko (Toko/Leon)

This ship is very strange to me. I don't understand why they ship them

6. Hagafuka (Toko/Yasuhiro)

The same situation as with Leokawa. I don’t even know what’s weirder, this ship or that one

7. Naekawa (Toko/Makoto)

I am neutral about this ship. As I understand it, they are shipped because of the freetimes. Well, okay in principle, I don’t care about this ship

8. Rantoko (Toko/Rantaro)

THEY ARE SHIPPED?! Honestly, this is the first time I've seen this ship... I don't know what to say. I can't even imagine why they might be shippered...

9. Fukaguji (Toko/Korekiyo)

This is one of my favorite ships. For me it is very comfortable. Although they are from different parts, we can see their interactions in Danganronpa S. For example, when Toko and Korekiyo were having discussions with Angie on the topic of faith, and Korekiyo agreed with Toko. Or when Korekiyo talked to Genocide Jack about her behavior (I don’t remember what exactly they talked about, sorry :_)). I also really like the way he addresses her, which is "Little Lady". I think if they were in the same game they would be shipped. As for me, they have a lot in common, they have something to talk about. And they could help each other (For example, Toko would help Korekiyo write articles about his travels). I also like the combination of purple and green

10. Yamafuka (Toko/Hifumi)

For me this ship is on par with Togafuka. Very disgusting. I admit, Hifumi is one of my least favorite characters in the franchise. He is as repulsive as possible. Most likely they are shipped because they are both writers and vulgar. But they have completely different reasons for this behavior. Toko has it because of his bad experience, and Hifumi... Well... Because that's how he is. I don't like this ship

11. Owakawa (Toko/Mondo)

I have no idea how this ship appeared... Well, really. I do not know what to say

12. Fumaeda (Toko/Nagito)

Yes, there is such a ship. Most likely they are shipped due to interactions in UDG. But I don't see any love line in their relationship. It even smells toxic

13. Kuzukawa (Toko/Fyuhiko)

WHAT?! HOW?! THERE'S JUST NO COMMENTS HERE...

14. Gokukawa (Toko/Gonta)

The same situation as with the previous ship....

15. Fukanata (Toko/Hajime)

Most likely, this ship appeared due to the fact that they both have split personalities. A very strange reason for their shipping

Gonna confess but one of my very reason for liking Celica is asides from her design, personality (both in character and narrative-wise) and super awesome voice (I absolutely adore Erica Lindbeck’s voice for Celica and fuck that dumbass on Twitter for accusing her of starting a so-called harassment campaign when she just wanted to set boundaries on her job), is the fact how she and her friends manages to recruit a lot of good-looking hunks (From Saber, Atlas, Kamui, Jesse, Valbar and potentially Deen) and even one canonically gay man in Leon in her own story route.

Celica is such a sweetheart, I think what also makes her stand out to me over most of the other princesses I’ve seen in FEH is her heartbreaking origins. Her mother Liprica (which SERIOUSLY IS, I’D SPEND MONEY IF YOU MADE LIPRICA A PLAYABLE UNIT! CONSIDER IT PLEASE!) was abducted from the Temple of Mila (which side note, part of the reason I dislike Mila is WHY did she just let it happen and not go after Liprica?! She literally sits around and doesn’t do shit like when the temple was invaded until directly confronted by Rudolf wielding Falchion), and she was forced to be part of Lima’s harem. And Lima didn’t really give a shit about any of his children, he just sent them all away to live in villas until they were slaughtered. So Celica gets uprooted TWICE in her life before finally settling as a priestess. It’s such a good position for her to be in due to her nature. Though I will say… One thing I don’t like about her was how angry she got at Alm going to war against Rigel, it makes her hypocritical. Celica, honey, sweetheart, you are LITERALLY leading a small army to Rigel yourself at some point. And Alm is just trying to protect Zofia.

And YES the men she recruits in her route are incredibly handsome (though Jesse, much as I love him and his character, has a pretty generic “handsome” design lol). And personally I feel like out of the LGBT rep in the series, Leon has to be the best for me due to his story and knowing that even if Valbar will never love him back, he’ll do everything in his power to assist Valbar with his mission just to return the kindness Valbar showed him. It’s very sweet and I think what makes Leon the best is the fact that he’s not linked as a support for a playable unit (like Niles or Yuri) so his feelings for Valbar are a genuine part of his character.

I'll give you a rundown of some of my other fandoms of the past decade or so. It's gotta be fandom-focused because it's impossible for me to remember all the non-nerdy things I've enjoyed lol. Also if you want warnings for anything or any particular content please don't hesitate to ask.

Right now I've got this whole Mash thing going on, delightful iconic + homoerotic product of the 70s, absolutely nothing in common with Berserk except that I can't shut up about both. Also I guess trauma is a major theme there too technically.

The Untamed/Mo Dao Zu Shi, which is extremely fun, I'd totally recommend the live action show as a starting point as long as you look up the differences between that and the book or read the book/watch the donghua after. There's a myriad of possible ships depending on what you're into from fairly light ft fun dynamics and great drama to delightfully fucked up.

Pet Shop of Horrors has a tiny but surprisingly great fandom and D/Leon is a fantastic ship.

Revolutionary Girl Utena was very worth watching.

I was into Yuri On Ice along with everyone else in 2016 and it was a good time.

Samurai Flamenco got me briefly too but there wasn't much of a fandom for it unforch.

Devilman has the original griffguts ancestor and it’s a classic, though I wouldn’t recommend most of the side stories/spinoffs unless you have a very high tolerance for gratuitous edginess and offensive stuff (though if you’re into Berserk you probably do lol). Devilman Crybaby was worth watching imo, though not a strictly accurate adaption, and also v gratuitously edgy lol.

Hannibal is my ideal show honestly, you have to be willing to enjoy pretentiousness taken to the point of campy comedy to be into it, but man I feel like the tone works. And Hannigram does have a lot in common with griffguts imo. Plus the fandom was fantastic for a while, tons of amazing fic.

And let’s finish with Xena, a show that’s iconic for a reason.

Also I'll throw out Vinland Saga (which I need to catch up on at some point) and Claymore as mangas I've read and enjoyed and would rec to other Berserk fans, but that didn't really have a fandom to get into.

Like w Genshin the most you get is different heights and bust sizes for the women lmfao, so far Itto is the only guy who's muscular (and even then, you look at Itto's art and model and then you look at FEH art for like Mustafa and there's. A difference there!). And there is the aspect of Genshin characters being 3D models, but I almost feel like that should make having more variety easier going forward if you just establish a new body type? Bc you can tell characters tend to have the same model, with just a few adjustments maybe to height or face (like I think it's really noticeable when you look at Ayato and Zhongli side by side, and Kazuha and Aether).

And also!!! Given that we are getting a new body type actually, come Sumeru, that sort of shows like yes it ofc it would take some work behind the scenes but it can be done! Kusanali and Dori having the new body type, which is shorter and smaller than the short girls (like Yanfei) but taller than the babies (Qiqi and such). So it is doable! (Hell, also. Thinking more. There are NCPs who are fat, both men and women! So like why not work off their models to create some playable characters and go from there!)

Unfortunately, I think it just has everything to do w like. What's profitable, and some really shitty attitudes about fat people that are noticeable in Genshin (a lot of girls have lines about being careful about how much they eat and like. I hate it lmfao girl I'm begging you to enjoy yourself and live comfortably). BUT ALSO LIKE. And I'll say this about how I Really Wish They'd Make More Black/Brown Characters Too. If you're a company w an extremely popular and profitable gacha, with like one million fucking characters, girl you can afford to throw in some variety. ESPPP w how Genshin's banners work, how there's always the five star who's the main focus and then three four stars alongside them. Like if you're REALLY worried about profits, put a character you're worried about not doing so well for whatever reason next to the shiny five star and bam. People will pull for the five star anyway. The worst you'll get I think is like, some weirdos being extremely weird about it in shitty corners of the internet.

BUT. Yeah. I just have v strong feelings about this sort of thing w Genshin in particular, maybe cause I feel like there's a lot of untapped potential. And also bc I do really love how the characters are designed as well. I esp love the variety in the men, where I feel like other gachas/franchises in general just aren't doing it the way Genshin is? Like w FE you def have gnc men, but they tend to fall into specific tropes (like the pretty blondes that are often mistaken for women, Libra, Lucius, Forrest, and the purple pretty guy who's mlm like Yuri and Leon). There are certainly others who fall outside of the tropes, like Soren, and some special outfits for characters that don't conform to masculinity (bunnyfonse and Valentine's Alfonse my beloved), but like. I can't really name a FE character who's gnc in the way Aether and Venti are, for example. And something else that I love about Genshin is you can have two guys who are gnc but each has their own way of portraying it that feels in line for them, that feels like it reflects on their personality (Aether and Venti again!!!).

I guess the TLDR here is it sucks to suck and we could've had it all LMFAOOO (AND in my heart Charlotte is buff as hell to the point where I forget she doesn't have visible muscles in canon. We could have had it all........... 😔😔😔😔)

So this is another Yuboys design thing, but I find it humorous that people in universe confuse the characters with each other (I get there is like a magical reason for this, but let’s ignore that), since even though they have the same rough facial structure, they don’t have the same faces, and their body types are radically different.

**Yuya is supposed to be the whole Dick Grayson esque acrobatic body type. Somewhat short, very triangular-hourglass-esque, but also very visibly buff. General fanon seems to be that Yugo will be the buffest (and the manga, a compeletly different continuity, but drawn by the original character designer, which the animators are most certainly not faithful towards, as we established in the previous post), but logically speaking, he should be the buffest, but because his muscle mass is evenly distributed, you wouldn’t notice it.

This is kind of funny to me, because in-lore the newest Yuya Performapals, Gentrude, and Lady Ange, are supposed to be representations of how Yuya views himself, and Yuzu, and apparently he considers himself to be a visual kei male idol (he thinks himself as Eikichi Mishina from Persona 2, lol), and Yuzu as a traditionalist pop singer, though logically they should both end up being rather buff acrobats.

(Yes I know it is more meant to parody how 80s Japanese couples used to go to karaoke dates, but still.)

**Yugo’s body shape looks like the more “equestrian” body type, ie. short, and stocky (think of Asana from SEVENS), which I guess he would end up kinda short like Yusei, and Crow, but still very buff on the top (not sure if he would be as buff at the bottom). His D-Wheel is obviously more inspired by cross motorbikes, even though his design is mostly based off Go Mifune from Mach Go Go Go (specifically the 90s incarnation, see more details and possible inspirations in ARC-V here), probably to go with the acrobat vibe Yuya is going with.

**Yuto’s design is technically supposed to be most muscly, going by the ARC-V manga, but this is demonstrably untrue in the ARC-V animé. Pre-war Yuto is very, very thin, same goes for pre-war Shun. He has a large chest (all Yuboys and Zarc do), but his chest is just wide, it is not muscle. Even after the war, he is still less buff than Yuya, which is kind of amusing.

**Yuri looks the most normal of the four, ironically enough, but since he doesn’t bend a lot, I have to wonder if he is wearing a corset, or a tight tie, because he looks rather rotund compared to others. His design is supposed to be doing the whole Char Aznable thing (his “horns” are likely supposed to look like Char’s), but much like with Goro Akechi, it just doesn’t quite work. But yeah, he is probably fatter than all others.

**Zarc’s whole cowboy vibe is probably meant to be like a rodeo rider, with a little bit of Clint Eastwood thrown in, since Ono seems to like homage Sergio Leone movies (think of Crash Town arc in 5D’s, Allen’s poncho, Masumi, and Ruri’s gun hilts for their Duel Disks etc.). He is not a true cowboy (otherwise, he would actually be buff, and probably be black), but I guess the idea is that he has a good command of muscles.

Ok, let’s start with designs.

Yuri is a borderline blatant Leon copy and paste, in terms of look and surface level personality. (Though when you get to the more minor aspects of their characters, they are ultimately different people.) With Balthus, he doesn’t have as many similarities, they both just fall into the, “big, muscley, and good natured” category.

In terms of swapping, the only real roleswap that occurs is whether or not the purple twink is the leader of the group.

Also if we were to make romantic headcanons for Yuri and Balthus, I feel like Yuri would definitely catch feelings first, and Balthus might be in denial for a bit since he’s stated in the past that he’s into older women, so that’s a similarity that the duo shares with Leon and Valbar with Leon and Yuri’s affections both being one-sided (though there’s the chance that the one-sided feelings could eventually become mutual.)

So I suppose Yuri and Balthus are less a roleswap and more a remix of Leon and Valbar, if that makes sense.

If you want Thanos to have been killed shortly after GOTG2 because Nebula tracked him down and stabbed him in the dick until he died from it then I’m also okay with that.

Carol/Maria - I’d love something pre-canon with these two. Their backstory is so interesting, especially when you factor in they were co-parenting and dating under DADT. I’d also love lots of interactions with Monica&Carol and Mar Vell and Carol. if you want to go for a casefic then, since I do love Natasha, Carol vs a Red Room Loyal Black Widow?

Carol/Valkyrie - Anything post-Ragnarok with the Asgardians (all of them, even the dead ones. Canon is dead and we killed it) on Earth, Would love: a lot of Carol interacting with the Revengers and Valkyrie interacting with literally any female characters because the MCU is bad at that.

Sarah/May - So much potential with these two. Blended families! Second loves! Dating while older and with kids!  I know Sambucky is a logical sistership to this pairing but I’m not a fan of that ship.

Dragon Age

Cassandra/Literally Any Of The Female Protagonists - Big fan of ‘Cass should’ve been bi’ so I’d like something exploring this. I’d like something set during DAI (so after the death of her boyfriend) with Cass coming to realisations about her sexuality. However you want to write the Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor is fine but my preference is for Surana, Sarcastic/Aggressive mage!Hawke and mage Adaar. I don’t like Anders so if you ever want to throw in some Anders hate then I’m fine with that.

Josie/Bela - I’d love something post-DAI with Josie taking Bela home to meet her family, or Josie as a member of Bela’s pirate crew (and putting her diplomatic skills to good use)

Marquis of Serault/Well Read Pig Farmer - I just want anything involving my favourite former Tevinter magister.

Fire Emblem

Three Houses - my preference is for the Crimson Flower route, but if you want to go the angst route of Byleth and El are fighting against each other then Golden Deer is my favourite path. I also love AUs where the three Lords (or four, counting Yuri) team up with each other to fight against TWSITD. Other than that I have no preferences for what you want to do with any of the ships.

Blazing Blade - I’d love to see post FE7, pre-FE6 stuff, with Lyn and Florina being involved in their friends’ lives. Lyn teaching Roy swordfighting, Florina teaching Lilina how to ride a Pegasus. Plus, lots of interacting with Farina and Ninian (especially if you want to build on the Ninian and Florina friendship). Or if you want to do what they were up to during FE6 I’d love that too.

Rebecca/Claire - AU where Rebecca is still in Racoon City and teams up with Claire and Sherry? Vendetta AU where Claire is there too? Chris and Jill are getting married and neither Claire or Becca have dates and go together? I don’t really mind. For RE2 canon I prefer the 1998 storyline (Claire A/Leon B) but if you only know the remake then that’s fine, or if you want to mix canons that’s also fine. For past relationships I love the angst Burnfield gives Claire but Billy and Rebecca I see as completely platonic.

Jill/Ada - Normally I’m a strictly Valenfield and Aeon kind of woman but I have a weakness for this ship. Jill is heavily associated with the colour blue, has blonde or brown hair depending on the game and is completely on the side of justice. What I’m saying is: she’s Ada’s type. I love the idea of Ada being at the police station early and running into Jill while she’s there in RE3. I’m also a fan of Ada trying to save Jill in RE5 when she realises it’s her actions in Spain that led to Jill’s brainwashing.

Ace Attorney

I don’t have any preference just as long as there’s no Franmaya, which is my NOTP or the Bad Cykesquill (Simon/Athena. Not only is the age difference too high, but they have a sibling relationship and Simon is clearly gay). I tend to headcanon Klaiver and Ema used to date but Mia and Godot never did. Background Wrightworth is always a plus.

FMA Manga//Brotherhood

Oliver/Maria - Honestly it’s not hard to see what I like when it comes to this ship because the AO3 tag is 99% written by me. Put Olivier in suspenders and holding a sword and I’m a happy woman.

Rose/Paninya - a woman whose town was destroyed in riots and a woman who has found a love of doing repair work? And they’re both friends with Winry who is more than happy to play matchmaker? The pairing writes itself. I know that the 03 anime gave Rose a dead boyfriend, but the manga never specifies. They’re lesbians, Harold.

Dishonored

Emily/Alexi - Wyman? I don’t know her! I love AUs where Alexi lives and is on the Dreadful Wale during the events of the game. Also a big fan of Jess Lives AUs if you want to have Emily attempting to court her childhood best friend/bodyguard while her amazingly embarrassing parents cheer her on. And I love the AUs where both Corvo and Emily are the co-protagonists (especially marked!Corvo, flesh and steel!Emily). I ignore the canonical age difference between Corvo and Jess and put them both as being in their late teens when they met. Basically anything where Alexi is still alive and not going to die is a good fic. If you want to include Wyman at all my preference is for female Wyman since I see Emily as a lesbian. Either she and Emily are exes on good terms or have always been just friends.

A quick study on Yuri Leclerc.

(Spoilers for DLC content, and trigger warning for discussion of sexual assault).

I once (twice) said that Yuri was a Leon clone for straight girls, since they erased the original characters sexuality to make a copy of him but bissexual, with almost all his romantic interests being women. Now that I have seen almost all his supports and interactions though, I have a different understanding of the character.

I believe Yuri is not only a copy of Leon’s character design but erasing his original sexuality, he also is a character that represents how Intelligent Systems sees LGBT+ men to be.

Compared to all the other characters in the game, Yuri’s story seems to be mongst one of the harshest; Born in poverty, he rose up into noble ranks thanks to his intelligence, deceiving skills and charm, while being the leader of a large underground gang, only for him to fall back into the pit after assassinating priests from the Church of Seiros in a fit of rage, and all of that happened before he even was 18 (During the events of the game, he is already 19 years old). Crude and harsh, while also being charming and a tease, Yuri’s entire character is shrouded in mystery, even to himself, to the point where characters even question if ‘Yuri’ is his real name.

Now, why would that be an issue? Well. This is where we dig our hands into the core issue on the writing of Yuri.

Throughout many times, Yuri discusses how he had to ‘butter up and boot lick’ several nobles, as well as comment how many nobles ‘would fight to have a date with him’; a part of his façade, sure, but it does not mix well with the way he looks when you consider that his character design is a copy of Leon’s, whom is already considered by the franchise as a “pretty boy”, which makes him fall into the ‘flirty LGBT pretty boy’ trope thanks to the care he puts into his makeup as well (one of the lost itens you can find in the main game is his eyeshadow brush), which is very common within media. (Unfortunately, Leon does fall into the trope to a degree as well, but you can still do a case for him not being particularly flirty, only vain).

And sure, this is not a good trope, but it’s also not bad per se- there are several LGBT men who are very flirty. But let’s remember his entire character arc: He’s a deceiver, a criminal, the leader of a gang, a marginalized man from the shadows. When other characters are seen as coming from a life of poverty (Ashe, for example), it’s shown as a dark moment from their past and are perceived as now being ‘reformed’ or ‘in the position to never do such thing again’ (And these characters are, might I add, not canonically LGBT). Such things aren’t possible for Yuri; he’s always going to be in the ‘crime life’, regardless of his social status. 

AND CURIOUSLY, Intelligent Systems casually added in his character notes, for some reason, that his mother is a prostitute. This is never brought up at any point in game, and there was no real need to be added.

Sadly, this is not the only possible reference to sex in relation to Yuri.

The text above is a piece of Yuri’s A support conversation with Dorothea. The context behind the support is how Dorothea discovered that Yuri is a talented singer, and wishes for him to sing with her, something that he constantly shoots down. She tries to make out why he feels this way while questioning her own love for singing (A pretty out of character moment for Dorothea, in my opinion.) and in here, she finally finds out why. The second quote from Yuri, while vague, can be read as him being the victim of sexual assault. It is not brought up afterwards in the conversation, or ever in any of his other supports of quotes. It immediately follows into Dorothea going out of character and feeling bad because she doesn’t want to sing anymore, and Yuri being the ‘bigger man’ and telling her that yes, she does likes singing, and she should so. It’s even more aggravating when you remember that Dorothea herself is also a victim of the same subtexts as this moment’s but several more times than Yuri, but in here, her feelings are not important.

Do be reminded that regardless of the victim, sexual assault is appaling and something horrible to be a victim of- but the game does not treat this possibility to Yuri nor let us linger on it. It’s merely one passing comment that never gets addressed nor developed. He is also the only male character in the game to be a potential victim of sexual assault. The bissexual man that likes to wear makeup and is flirty.

(Some fans of his have even begun to say that this is canon evidence that Yuri is a CSA victim and have harassed others over it, despite still being something vague enough to be open for possible discussion).

So, where does this leave us? 

I feel like before concluding this text, i should express how I feel about Yuri nowadays. Ever since his character design was first shown (We had known Yuri back before the Jeritza update, thanks to dataminers) I felt ambivalent towards him, especially when considering my gigantic love towards the character of Leon, and ever since them I’ve been nicknaming Yuri “Little Leon”.

In general, I find Yuri’s character nowadays okay, and I might even like him quite a lot.

I like how his crest wasn’t something he owned by birth, but something he was given as a token of gratitude after his mom treated an elderly man back to health while asking for nothing, with the same elderly man not only teaching Yuri how to read and write, but also saving his life from a deathly plague by giving him a blood transfusion with Aubin’s crest embedded onto it, being what motivates Yuri into working to make the world a more equal place. That is another thing I like about his character: His ideals. He works towards making the world more equal and to help others in need just as the old man once did, and his uses his gang and influence to help as many people as he can, whether they are from his birthplace or from Abyss, he puts his heart into protecting all of them. His heart is in a good place - and he is someone who knows what to do or not.

However, he is also a mirror as to how LGBT+ men have always been treated by Intelligent Systems throughout Fire Emblem’s 30 years; Marginalized pretty boys who like to flirt, might live a life of crime and, if bissexual, will have a major preference over women. Niles and Leon send their regards.

Tales of Crestoria Part 1 - Transgressors and Vision Orbs (Ch 1-2)

I haven't played a Tales game in soo long! I'm super hyped for this though, because seeing Luke and others in one game is so nice! Anyway, since it's a gacha mobile game, my bro and I legit rerolled for like a day to get 4 SSRs lmao. I also helped reroll for my other bro so that took agess loll. I ended up getting Kanata, Luke, Lloyd and Leon! Pretty okay hahaa. Time for the story! Honestly, when the villagers were accusing Nash for being the guy who pushed the old lady that ended up dying, I thought Nash was some troublemaker adult, but no, he's a kid loll! Like, uhh, just because he causes trouble every now and then doesn't mean he would do such a thing to an old lady, like what evidence do these crazy villagers have??? Lmao at Misella pretending to be weak so that Kanata will protect her. Aww, it's so cool how Milla and Velvet help you out! That's fun! I guess the game kinda integrates the other Tales game characters into the story minus the idea that they come from another world and instead kinda put them inside the story itself as if they all belong in this world? The idea of the enforcers is such a scary concept. The fact that all you need is lots of people to condemn someone and you could be "punished" to death is pretty nuts. Not to mention that most of these people that condemn others just see one-sided “evidence” through vision orbs (recordings) and then when enough people think you’re evil, enforcers will come and kill you? Like, what if they're innocent or something? No wonder why people call this Tales of Cancel Culture hahahha.

Awww, the CG of Kanata and Misella around flowers was so pretty! Loved it! Well, I knew Kanata's father was dodgy, but I actually find it funny he thinks that Kanata should understand and follow as his successor of human slave and organ trading lol. Like, um, do you never see your son? He's like the personification of naivety and justice, yeah right he would succeed your human trafficking business. It's not like he just sells them either, he sells all these orphan children's body parts and organs! Ridiculous that he thinks Kanata would be like sure, of course, please continue. I'm more surprised that Kanata rashly decided to kill his father like that though. Like, he just found out the truth and killed him! Not saying he didn't deserve it, but considering he admired his father for his whole life, I'm surprised he held no thoughts and feelings towards wanting him to be condemned instead of killing him like that. I guess he felt that he needed to in order to save Misella? Still rash though. Omg, Misella is even more rash and crazy, didn't think she'd burn down the whole shelter just to save Kanata who was being imprisoned by the conspirators of his dad who didn't want him going around telling people. Like, yes, she brought most people out but what if she missed someone or they got injured?? Anyway, the enforcers were surprisingly weak, now I guess if Cress (Kanata's teacher) kills someone, he could probably run too lol. Not gonna lie, all those anime scenes are so cool!! Wow, this game is pretty high quality! Loved it when Kanata got his blood sin (his sword that kinda represents his sin). Vicious is cool though, I love how whatever his attitude is, nice for him to have Kanata as a fellow transgressor friend. Anyway, um, I forgot to say that I'm surprised Misella just ditched Kanata when he told her to run away without him. Like, after all the she can't live without him blah blah and stuff, she just leaves him?? I guess at least she realised and changed her mind to look for him, but she hasn't found him yet so lolll.

It's kinda funny how Vicious is like Kanata's bandit teacher haha. Aegis and Leon seem pretty cool, I can understand them for wanting to catch Vicious and Kanata and how they would prioritise the innocent over capturing them. Anyway, wow, Nash is such a little shit. Honestly an ungrateful kid. I know he's grieving because his little sister died in the fire that everyone thinks Kanata lit when it was actually Misella (so I guess she's a murderer now too huh?), but it's honestly crazy bitter and petty for him to not tell anyone that Kanata killing his father was actually "understandable" because of the monster he was for selling kids and their organs. And like wth man, so Cody (Kanata's father) selling his orphanage friends isn't as bad as Kanata supposedly "killing" his sister? Seriously? Were they even your friends, Nash? You do realise that most if not all your friends that were sold probably died right? It's ridiculous that he wants everyone (enforcers and knights etc) to condemn and kill Kanata now when he never even tried to do that for his monster of a father even though he knew about his wrongdoings all this time. Ridiculous man. And like seriously, he just assumed like all the other villagers that Kanata lit the fire to cover up his murder, he didn't even ask him or anything. He just assumed it and accused him. It's like seriously kid, Kanata defended you in the beginning and believed in you, yet what do you do to repay him? Not even listen to his side of the story when he did that for you! Kids these days!

Wow, like I doubt Vicious could die so easily, but Misella is crazy, she just stabbed him through the heart to "save" Kanata from following down his evil path? Umm, I'm pretty sure you're not any better, Misella. Is there anyone around Kanata that isn't toxic?? Not that Kanata is any better since he's overly righteous in a silly way, but at least he's not crazy? Lol. Vicious is bad, but he never said he was a good person at least. Um, why does Misella think that by saying she manipulated Kanata into killing his father, it would make him not a criminal anymore? I think the fact he listened to some girl and killed his own father is even worse lol. And seriously, Kanata is a transgressor already, I doubt it's something you can revert, especially since he went against enforcers and even got the Stain of Guilt and the blood sin. There's honestly no point of her becoming a transgressor as well. And seriously, these villagers!! Do they believe anything and everything that people say? Use your own judgement seriously! Anyway, I honestly think that it's ironic how Misella wants to protect Kanata but causes so much trouble for him instead, sigh. Well, yep, Nash is pretty nuts to relish the fact that Misella is getting burned to death. Is there anyone in this game that isn't crazy?😔 I guess everything was for Misella to get a blood sin too~ Anyway, I guess now the true adventure begins? I love the ending scene to the first chapter, it really feels like the journey is just starting~

I think it's pretty nice how they addressed the idea of Kanata and them being happy whilst carrying the sins of killing people through Misella thinking that she needed to punish herself eating grass and stuff instead of the meat she likes because she "deserves" that. Obviously they shouldn't be complacent and think it's fine to kill people, but I agree with Vicious, they've already chosen to continue to live despite how painful it may be and despite how much others want them to die, so there isn't any harm in them living "normally" because that's the path they've chosen to follow now. Lmao at Misella being traumatised by Kanata's food though haha. Vicious is so funny and cool, such a silly but fun guy. Reid is a great guy, I love how he thinks that one's own impressions are worth more than what other people think. I think it's important to make your own judgement about what kind of person someone is rather than relying on stuff like rumours and stuff, although it's understandable if you do follow others, since really, they are criminals. Btw, an extra plus is that Reid is voiced by Ishida Akira!! Yes, I love Athrun Zala (Gundam Seed) and Kent (Amnesia:Memories) to name a few hahaha. HAHAHA, I love how Vicious just trashed Misella's hopes that she was special to Kanata when she asked him if he would risk his life like Veigue to get a bloodstone to save her if she was ill like Veigue's friend, and he says of course, and then Vicious asks Kanata the same thing and he says he'll save him too loll. Misella using Vicious as a scapegoat to take all the blame for injuring a kid was lol, but seriously, these adults are so childish and reliant on the vision crystals to solve all their problems. It's like wow, Veigue looks like a mean and bad person so yep it must have been him is just ridiculous, I'm so glad Reid isn't insane like them. At this point, I’m just glad there are sensible people in this story like Reid and Veigue lol.

Overall, my impression for now is pretty positive. The story isn’t great, but I do enjoy the dubiousness of everything including the main characters. The animated scenes are awesome though and the design and everything is so pretty! Aside from the bugs that are rampant (random crashing etc) throughout the game, I’ve still been quite obsessed with it that I’m playing everyday hahaha. Now if only the gleamstone draws could guarantee an SSR instead of an SR lolll. Not that I’m complaining too much I guess since I got all the summer SSRs (because Veigue and Yuri were hot, so I needed them LOL) . The game can get rather grindy though with the different materials you need and how low the drop rates can be, but it’s not too bad to get to level 80 for your characters at least. Just wanted to say, I’m happy to finally have 3-4 level 100s yay! It’s nice to see a turn-based Tales game that still relies on combos to do the best damage haha. Otherwise, if you’re wanting to try this game, this is probably a great time to do it since you get an extra 2500 gleamstones with the 1 million downloads reward right now, so you now have 4 chances to draw SSRs! (One guaranteed SSR draw, one normal gleamstones draw, the SR+ tickets draw and the normal summon tickets draw) Just keep in mind that gacha is gacha and sometimes RNG is just not on your side. For example, my bro used 15k gleamstones and got 0 SSRs, so yes, the game can get painful and depressing, but I’m here for the story so at least I’m all good haha!

•Egg really wanted Doll to become his model because of her beautiful features and body type. However, Doll doesn't wanted to due to my shyness and I had been told that I look like a super model. Bezai convinced me that I am until Nicol caught that attention.

•Bezai becomes Addy's fashionista/fashion designer, her modelling teacher and a good figure to influence her. Nicol proposed him to become Addy's influential to give her better confidence and helping her picking up clothes for her.

•Egg is actually a friend to Eagle because they known each other in New York both are interviewers, Peacock since he is a fan to Peacock's performance in Las Vegas, Penguin, Poodle, Alien and Lion together meet each other at the gala every year then Leopard, Bee and Ladybug also met at the gala but the three both commonly have a royal like clothing together.

•Bezai met one of Addy's member from her gang. Narcis the Purple Peacock. Since 4 years ago before the accisent, they first met when Bezai is skating himself at the private skating ring until he notice Narcis's skating first and showing off his skills then the Purple Peacock is offering him a special free drink and complement his professional skating skills.

•the mysterious Russian Purple Peacock even gave him a nickname "ваши милости" ("your Graces" in English).

•Narcis is the one who helped the injured Bezai carrying him out if the ice. Bezai wanted to know who is the mysterious charming man and he also remembered he is actually a Russian man.

•Addy knew it because Narcis told her that he had met the iconic Egg man. He told her not to tell him just yet.

•Egg might have a crush on the mysterious Russian Purple Peacock.

So here we are again. Sorry it took a bit longer than planned. Despite my internship ending almost two weeks ago, I’ve had a rather busy time of it still. First there is getting back into studying Latin, which is quite a challenge. Then I had to prep for my first ever museum tour (as tour guide). Thirdly, and most importantly imo, I am still looking for another part time job. I hope this changes soon, since the search adds incredible amounts of anxiety to my daily existence.

Also this “chapter” was very hard to translate. The recipe part I mean. I have never translated Japanese recipes before, so all the terms were entirely new for me. But anyway let’s get this show on the road:

Before we continue, here is the same note as usual: As I am still without a real income, I would very much appreciate it if you could throw me a couple bucks via my ko-fi account. It doesn’t have to be a lot, just what you think my translations are worth really. Which of the dishes his retainers came up with will Leon prefer..? Using his favourite ingredients, the two gave it some serious thought.

Recipe + Cooking Process: Yuri Sato

Disclaimer: I am not 100% sure about the accuracy of all the terms I translated here. So if you plan on cooking any of these dishes, please be careful! And if you burn your house down or get food poising, please don’t sue me. You won’t get any money out of me anyways... (I take no responsibily...)

Zero's Cooking (Assistant: Felicia)

Sauteed salmon with spicy tomato sauce

Zero: To make something worthy of a retainer to Lord Leon, I simply have to use at least one or two of his favourite ingredients. I shall tighlty seize his belly..

Ingredients:

2 slices of Salmon filet 180g of canned tomatoes (pre-cut) One half each of a red and a yellow paprika 2 garlic cloves Pure Olive Oil 30cc 1 teaspoon of chili flakes A proper amount of salt and pepper A proper amount of dill

1. Cut the paprika mouth-wide (?)

2. Spread oil in a frying pan. Keep it on a medium flame until it’s time to add the garlic

3. Then add the chili flakes and paprika before lightly frying them, adjust the taste to your liking with salt and pepper.

4. Add the canned tomatoes and let everything simmer for a while.

5. Season the salmon with salt and pepper

6. Spread oil in another frying pan and fry the salmon on both sides.

7. Set the salmon on a plate, add the sauce and place a dill leave as decoration in order to complete the dish

*Take care not to add too many chili flakes. Also, having the salmon heated for too long will make it grow bitter, so caution is advised.

Odin's Cooking (Assistant: Joker)

Tomato Stew

Odin: “Please feast on my masterwork as soon as you can! The sacred blood which burns crimson hot like lava, „Tomato Stew“!”

Ingredients:

1 garlic clove 1 table spoon of pure olive oil ¼ of an onion About 1 potato 1 piece of chicken leg 300 ml water 250g of canned tomatoes 1 ½  table spoons of consommé granule A proper amount of salt and pepper Powdered cheese Parsley

1. Cut the onion into pieces about 5mm wide, then spread about one table spoon each across the potato and chicken leg (?)

2. Heat the olive oil in a pot, then add the thinly sliced garlic and let it simmer on medium heat until it releases it's aroma.

3. Add the chicken and potato. Once the chicken has been added, season it and the potatoes to your liking before frying them.

4. Once finished, add the water and consommé granule, then make it boil.

5. Add the tomatoes before letting everything cook on low heat for about 10-15 min. (the potatoes should be done once you can puncture them easily)  

6. Adjust the flavour through seasoning

7. Serve in a bowl and add the cheese and parsley as a finishing touch.

*If you like, you can also add about 100ml of fresh cream when seasoning to give it a creamier texture.

Leon: “Since both recipes include tomatos, the dishes couldn't be anything but delicious. It is... difficult to determine the winner. I wonder if I can just call it a draw?”

I have no idea when the next update will be. I’ll try putting in some work whenever I have a little time to spend. It should be a bit faster, since I don’t have to deal with all that unfamiliar cooking terminology, but I can’t make any promises.
