#and then deciding to exile yourself from this world you love so much

You know, thinking about what Asmodeus said about the Pantheon being his siblings, and how mortals must have done something to the Prime Deities because why else would they have turned on their own family...
The Prime Deities probably loved the Betrayers once, maybe they even still do. And they turned on them, their kin, to save Exandria and its people. They loved Exandria and the peoples of it so much that they fought and exiled their own family that they’ve known since, permanently destroying any possibility of there ever being a reconciliation.
All for a world they loved. A world they once all loved.

Okay, Miss Angst Queen, you want angsty scenarios, I shall give you one.
Fem!Reader (You), Diluc and Kaeya grew up together and Diluc develops a kiddie crush on you.
That's why he isn't too happy when Crepus suddenly announces that because Jean's mother had activated the marriage contract between their families, he is now engaged to Jean.
It didn't take Jean long to realize that Diluc doesn't like her the way he like you and she's pretty miffed because she feels you have 'stolen' her fiancé. Her more... over-zealous servants decide to take matters into their own hands and arrange for 'unfortunate incidents' to happen to you.
Eventually, your mother is forced to fake your death and send you to her distant relative in Liyue (Baizhu) when one of those 'unfortunate incidents' come a little too close to killing you.
With Diluc, after his self-exile after Crepus' death, the very first thing he does after returning to Mondstadt is to annul the marriage contract.
( I resubmitted it myself so I can have it in my drafts )
╔══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╗╔══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╗╔══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╗
Character: Diluc
Type: Angst, tragedy, and Reader in her villian era
Tags: Fem!Reader
Requester: @sailorstar9
Content: The female protagonist grew up with Kaeya and Diluc, along with Diluc developing a crush on on you since childhood. However, Jean's mother activated a marriage contract with Diluc's fathers, thus binding him and Jean in an arrange marriage. Jean's servants decided to arrange an event to create an unfortunate "accident" which lead your mother to actually making you fake your death by it and send you to Baizhu, a distant relative. However, unknowingly after Crepus's death along with his situation with Kaeya, he placed himself on self exile and the first action he did when returning, was to nullify his marriage contract with Jean now that he is the head of the family and can decline the contract. ( I hope I got this correctly )
My spin with Angst :) : Years later, Since the reader's distant relative is Baizhu, it would make sense she would have Dendro healing abilities, as Baizhu have been training you to defend yourself and medically educate you. However, ironically, you were in your villain era, You were angry, you felt robbed. This was trauma without you realizing it. Despite being taught to be a catalyst user, you decided, why in the hell would you even try at this point? You decided, a sword would suit you much better.
Trigger Warning: I might be a little violent in this story to stress the Villain Era the reader is in, and also, dealing with trauma so please proceed with caution. I might add cursing a bit, please let me know if you can feel the idea of the reader without the cursing.
╚══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╝╚══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╝╚══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╝
"What you do you mean you are cancelling the arrange marriage!?!" Jean looked at Diluc shocked.
He was standing in her office, unfazed. One word to describe Diluc right now, was tired. Exhausted. Drained. He had no energy to deal with anything, he didn’t want to deal with anything. He lost the person who he loved to some vague accident, he lost his father, and lastly, he lost his brother, metaphorically of course.
"Just as I said, I am canceling this unnecessary contract, I have the right to. The only reason we had this, was only because of the favor my father owned your mother. Consider that favor fulfilled by my servitude to the Favonious knights." He turned to leave without another world.
Jean jumped forward, and walked. "Wait! Wait!" She hugged him from behind. "I haven’t see you in so long, can't we talk this out? Come on, Luc..."
Diluc pushed her away. "Don't ever call me that again, understand? I only tolerated it for the contract. But I never want to hear it out your mouth again. Understand?"
Jean looked at him baffled. "B-But-"
"Understand?" Diluc glared into her eyes, his eyes were soulless reds, in the pits of a fiery empty dead hell.
Jean obediently complied, due to shock and intimidation. "U-Understand..."
Diluc continued to walk out of her office. "There is only one person who is allowed to call me that..."
As Jean watched Diluc walked out and put in all his two week notices for everything and leaving behind a life he once had. To that, he thought, good riddance.
As years, passed by, Diluc went on to be the most successful winery owner over the countries, gaining riches, as his main occupation is to produce wine, and deal with the fatui, and any other monsters at hand.
However, here you are, staring in the mirror in your room. You lived in Bubu Pharmacy with Baizhu looking after you. You glared at the scars on your body. There were deep scarring on your arms, back and chest. So deep, that it could be felt through your clothes if anyone tried hard enough to pay attention.
Red. There was only anger in your eyes. You saw a glimpse of your kind happy face, when you were younger, as it flashed back now. You just wanted to be left alone. You want peace and quiet. You didn’t care for anything. You were just angry.
You were robbed, you lost everything. Angry at almost dying, angry at losing your roots at your home land. Angry that you could have had a happy life, a peaceful life. Yet, you were here in fucking Liyue. Your mother recently passed, months ago, and you couldn’t be there. Why? Because you were in fucking Liyue. You could have healed her, but she kept saying no and to keep your faked death a secret.
She has passed on, that was the last straw, fuck faked death. Fuck being alive or dead. Fuck everything. You are done.

Before I Say Goodnight
Chapter 3
A/n: Chapter 3 yay. Ngl i got feels towards the end. This is a sweet one. I kind of love the Band of exiles dynamic.
Other chapters
Tumblr media
“Great, Cassian will pick you up in the morning”.
“Ok” you say between bites. “I have to get some things done before morning, but try to sleep and I’ll see you tomorrow” she stands and leaves the room, closing the door behind her. Ok so maybe this Rhysand can help. Hopefully.  If they are really worried about an unguarded portal then maybe they’ll hurry to send me back and close it up. The thought brings you a bit of peace. Finishing the stew you get up from the bed and place the bowl on the dresser. You look in the mirror and decide that you can’t wear the dress tomorrow,it’s far too long and, honestly, riding side-saddle was terrible, so you resolve to dig up your leggings and sports bra. Now that they have fully dried, the mud and sweat created a layer of crust and the smell… Ew. You bring them to the bathing room and scrub them until  they have returned to their normal color. Hopefully they’ll be dry by morning. An idea pops up. You take the damp clothes down the stairs and place them near the crackling hearth. I’m so smart. Then remember the bowl left on the dresser, groaning to yourself as you walk back up the stairs, pick the bowl up and return it to the kitchen.
Jurian is sitting at the table with a cup of tea and a book. He looks quaint, much different then the rough looking man you’ve seen the last day. He looks up, sensing someone in the room and his eyes land on the bowl in your hands. “Beef stew is my specialty,” he says with a sly smile. “It was delicious, thank you” walking over to the basin, you wash the bowl and set it to dry with the rest of the dishes. “Tea?” He asks and motions to the pot on the wood stove. “That would be great, actually” you pour yourself a cup and sit down next to him. The tea is mint and there is another flavor that has hints of lavender. You breathe the scent in and try to ground yourself. Finding that if you are not doing something or talking you spiral and begin to think about home. Home. It's been more than 24 hours now. They probably think I’m lost in the woods. You shake your head and ask Jurian “are you human?” He looks up from the book and says nothing. You open your mouth and close it and then say “sorry, I just noticed that you have round ears and Lucien has pointed ears and also Vassa has round ears and the man from earlier had round ears but he had wings and… well in my world all humans have round ears so I'm guessing you’re human and if this is an offensive question I’m sorry. I'm rambling now. I’ll shut up” you look away and sip your tea. Maybe solo travel completely stunted my social skills. Oh god kill me now. Jurian chuckles “it’s fine, yes I’m human, Vassa is also human but she’s been cursed to be a firebird by day, Lucien is High fae and Cassian is Ilyrian. Any other questions?” About a million. “Vassa is a firebird by day?” That seemed like the most important detail. “Yes, it’s a long story though, and it’s also not mine so if you want more details ask her” fair enough. “Ok… how old are you?” He looked like he could be in his mid thirties but something about him felt off. “About 500” you choke on nothing and look at him wide eyed. He chuckles “I’m sensing a follow up question so I’ll elaborate. Yes I’m human, yes I’ve been alive for 500 years. How is that possible? Well 500 years ago there was this war that was fought by humans against the fae and I did some… bad things that got me dismembered and kept conscious in the ring and necklace of this truly awful female. Anyways, there was another war recently where a very powerful king found the cauldron and harnessed its power to resurrect me. Well, to put me back together and now here I am” he motions to himself and smiles bright. Jesus. “And I thought my life was hard, why did they resurrect you?” He sighs “The king was unhappy with the result of the last war and wanted me to help him invade the human lands and enslave the humans.” You put down the cup and ask “So there is no war happening currently?” “No, not right now but Koschei,he’s another powerful king, is up to something. Not sure what it is though”. “I see” you fiddle with your thumbs and ask another question “Vassa said that I’m supposed to go to the Night Court? Is it far?” He nods “ah, that’s right. Rhysand wants to question you. I suppose you have no idea where anything is. Come with me” he stands and walks out of the kitchen and crosses the house until he reaches two double doors.
When you walk in you see shelves and shelves of books. Oh my god it’s a library. Sick. “Here we are” Jurian says as he pulls out a large book titled “Geography of Prythian and its Surroundings” he opens up and gestures to the bottom of the page. “We are here, these are the mortal lands, pretty self explanatory. You showed up around here” he points “that is the Spring Court, there are seven, as you can see. The Night Court is all the way up here” he points to the north of the map. “Wait, so how am I going to get there tomorrow? That’s at least a few days by horse” he hums. “I’m pretty sure it's only a few hours by flight”. Oh no. There’s no way. “What?” “You’ll be flying, hope you’re not afraid of heights” he smirks, sensing your fear. “And if I refuse?” “Well, they are your best chance of getting back home. If you think I’m old just wait till you meet some of the people at Rhysand's court. They should know something about portals”. “That’s great” you say in a monotone voice. “Listen, I’m going to call it a night but feel free to stay here if you want”. You nod as he walks out of the library. There’s no way I’m going to be able to sleep tonight. You resolve to stay and read the book. Gleaning as much information about this world as you can and not taking note of the time. You doze off on the chair and wake up to the sound of the book hitting the ground. Taking a deep breath and putting the book away, you make your way to your room and fall into a deep dreamless sleep.
The next morning breakfast is the same: warm bread, cheese and tea. Lucien sits in front of you as you scarf down the meal, having woken up very hungry. “Do they have food where you’re from?” You swallow and scowl at him, “of course we do. We have bread and cheese and tea and chocolate and coffee”. I miss coffee so much and it’s only been two days. “Well you’re eating like a woman starved” you sip your tea and roll your eyes. “Why are you so grumpy? And if you must know I think I’m stress eating. It’s a normal reaction for someone in my situation. Is pie a thing here? I could really go for some pie right now” he seems unimpressed. “I’m not grumpy and yes pie is a thing here. I’ll see what I can do to find some, we are a bit secluded from the nearest village” you beam. “Really? You’d get me pie?” he nods “oh thank you!” You can’t help yourself as you get up from your chair and throw your arms around him in a hug. “I haven’t gotten you anything yet” you straighten up “but it’s the thought that counts”.
“When is this Cassian guy supposed to get here?” you ask Lucien as you pack your bag for the trip. You suppose it’s only a day and you’ll be back by nightfall but you want to have your things with you just in case and having a water bottle and snacks is always handy. “Soon” you groan “but when-” before you can say anything else a knock comes from the front door. Lucien goes to open it and reveals Cassian waiting on the other side. “Sorry I’m late, the morning got away from me. If you’re ready we can leave now” he finishes looking at you. You get up and put the bag on “I’m ready”.
“Ok so how does this work?” you ask Cassian. “Well I’ll carry you in my arms and then I’ll take off. It’s a little scary at first but I’m not gonna drop you. Promise” He flashes you a grin and you let out a shaky breath “Listen, I am terrified of heights so please, no sudden movements” he nods curtly and holds out his arms for you. You step closer and hear Lucien snicker at your visible discomfort. “Stop it, Lucien!” you whine as Cassian grabs you and you wrap your arms around his neck, holding on for dear life. “Ok, I’m ready” you scream as he takes off. “It’s ok, the take off is the bumpiest part” you try to speak but nothing comes out as you see how high you’ve gotten in a matter of seconds. You press your eyes shut, refusing to look down and try to steady your breath. I am at home watching tv. I just fell asleep. This is just a very long and convoluted lucid dream. “So tell me, how’s life with the band of exiles?” Cassian attempts to make conversation “Uhm… it’s fine, ah! They have been very nice and accommodating. Whoa!” you hold on even tighter as he dodges some rain. This is all the rain’s fault. Stupid rain. “Sorry and I’m sorry for offending you yesterday, it was not my intention” you gulp “it’s ok, I’ve been on edge recently, ha ha” you shut your eyes again “how much longer do we have left?” Cassian looks at you and you don’t see the pity in his eyes as he answers “about an hour” kill me now “oh god”.
When Cassian finally puts you down you nearly collapse in relief. “Come on, the meeting is through here” you follow him inside the mountain building and try your best to keep up but his legs are probably twice as long as yours and you’re also still a bit dizzy from the flight. “We’re here!” he says as he walks into a dining room full of the prettiest people, or fae, you’ve ever seen. The male with night black hair and purple eyes says “yes the guest of honor, please sit” you nod and sit next to Cassian. The group all introduce themselves and then the female you now know as Feyre asks you “y/n please tell us, with as many details as you can recall, how you got here” and so you tell them. Trying your best to remember all of it. The rain, the wind, the rocks, the mushrooms. Rhysand then says “can you show me?” you look confused so he elaborates “I can access your mind and see everything you have seen, I would only be accessing that memory though” you nod “do i just sit here?” “Yes, it won’t hurt and it will only be a second” you look around and feel a gentle scrape within your mind and then you’re back in Scotland showing Rhysand what you saw. When he’s done you sag a bit, having to relive your last moments on Earth had been unsettling to say the least and watching yourself in a third person point of view made you want to scream at your past self to just stay on the path. I should’ve just kept walking. Rhysand showed Feyre and Amren and then Mor and then Azriel. “I’ll see what I have about portals, but I’ll warn you that I have never heard of traveling to a whole different realm. Other worlds, yes, maybe. A portal from point A to point B within the same world, of course. But this… this has bigger implications than anything I've seen before” Amren says matter of factly. Your eyes sting and your breathing becomes shallow. She can’t be right. “I’ll tell Nesta to get a group of priestesses to help research” Feyre says and then Cassian adds “I think we should add a patrol to the clearing, the weakened Spring Court borders and the portal business seems like a great opportunity in the wrong hands”. Rhysand and Feyre nod “I can send a few of my spies down there tomorrow” Azriel. “Y/n, you’re free to stay wherever you'd like. But we have a few rooms here if you want to help with the research. I’m sure Lucien, Jurian and Vassa have been very hospitable but they are pretty isolated and I’d feel better if you stayed here”. You try to take it all in but the despair… the sorrow is taking over you and you feel numb. They’re going to think I’m dead. A few tears fall and you nod, “I can stay, but I’d like to get some things I left at the house” . You were mainly thinking of the only change of clothes you had and saying goodbye to the exiles that had offered you shelter when you needed it the most.

Love all of your headcanons and posts!
What are your headcanons for being on the ship and thrown into another galaxy with Exile Thrawn?
Hiii i'm so so so sorry for delay ! I was sick and my work takes so many time. So here we are =D So many things to say about, so i decided to limit myself to the very beginning of the exile. Hoping you like it.
Tumblr media
There's a lot of talk about officers appreciating and admiring Thrawn for his military prowess, but you're clearly not one of them. For you, Thrawn got to his position by luck and above all - and you must recognize this - because most Imperials are idiots.
However, you were assigned to the Chimaera, which did not help your good relations with your superior. You are also very surprised to see the calm with which he handles your protests. Because you are the first to contradict him, the first to never agree with him and... Very strangely, the one who spends the most time in his office.
When the incident took place, when the shock carried you and the entire ship into the unknown, you were unable to contain your anger. You were afraid, but above all, you were mad with rage against him who predicted everything and who was not able to anticipate this catastrophe.
The idea of being stuck there, somewhere, far from everything with him is literally unbearable for you. Seriously ? You would rather end up in a sandy desert and die of thirst.
You notice that despite the fiasco you are the victim of, Thrawn remains surprisingly calm when observing the damage to the ship. Yet there is something hovering above him and you are unable to define it. It drives you crazy this constant indifference to everything that seems to happen to you because of him.
In your own way, you try to act to find a solution. You note the damage suffered by the ship, count the number of deaths. Discovering that some of your friends did not survive the shock is difficult for you to take. The worst ? Report it to your superior who remains impassive in the face of your distress and the seriousness of what is affecting you.
After several days of struggle, your body becomes exhausted as much as your mental strength. Nothing seems to allow you to be located by the Imperial forces. Nothing tells you where you got lost. Distraught, on the verge of a nervous breakdown, you notice that Thrawn is watching you.
And it’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
You walk up to him, your eyes filled with anger and tears, and throw your badges at his feet. Deciding that being far from the empire allows you to free yourself from its authority. You scream. You fume to see him so indifferent, so impassive while there are still lives to save on this ship, that the empire needs your help.
He lets you explode, remaining impassive in the face of your anger. The truth is that the anger you direct at him is also directed at you. You are unable to admit that despite all your efforts and the accumulated fatigue you are unable to find a reasonable solution.
You thought you would make him react by putting yourself in this state, but he just asks you if you are finished and leaves without another word.
At nightfall, when you have been in exile with him for several weeks now, you are wandering aimlessly in the carcass of the Chimaera when you notice a light on the main command deck. Thrawn's shadow casts over you as you sneak in to spy on him.
He looks defeated, the light from the holoprojection further stretching his already tired features. Even though he remains in a deep state of concentration, what you see on his face that evening upsets you more than you would like to admit.
Trouble. Disappointment. Pain. Guilt. Thrawn probably realizes that he will be stuck here for a long time and that he will miss important feats of arms for the empire. That he will be cut off from the world and his loved ones for much longer than expected.
And it breaks your heart.
On the holovid, you discover that the Grand Admiral has also put his time to good use. Rather than looking for a solution inside the ship, he has undertaken excavations outside and numerous symbols are projected onto the central table. Symbols that you have already seen in books when you were a student and which are not that foreign to you.
-Dathomir. You said in a breath. The look he gives you then petrifies you in a strange way. As if your heart had just stopped beating and started beating faster than normal. Had you ever realized the intensity of his gaze before this moment? You put these strange emotions down to fatigue before he speaks.
-Perhaps we have before us the solution to all our problems, lieutenant. He whispers in a monotone voice. You are stunned by the amount of work he has accomplished in such a short time and you are angry that you were so wrong.
-Will you help me? He ends up murmuring at your silence. That’s when you realize he hasn’t taken his eyes off you for many minutes. After a brief moment of hesitation, you end up nodding your head.
-I've never been very cooperative, but I'm willing to make an effort. You admitted slowly, eyes glued to the ground.
-Stay as you are. It’s your spirit that I’m going to need to bring us back. For your mind and your intelligence.
These words hit you like a crashing space cruiser. It’s violently sweet and you’re not sure your heart will survive it. Either way, you're convinced this is the start of something different. That this exil will introduce you to Grand Admiral Thrawn like no one has ever seen him.

As Above, So Below: Part Two
Pairing: Sam Winchester x Mermaid!Reader
Word Count: ~2k
Warnings: fluff
Summary: You thought your kind had been wiped out by pirates way back then, but you find a colony of mermaids miles below the surface of the ocean. They hate humans. You love humans. They think they're bad. You believe them to be good. Sam Winchester is living proof of that. Will you try to make it work with him?
PART ONE
Square Filled: mermaid!reader (2021) for @spnaubingo
Author’s Note: for the sake of this story, natural light reaches much further below the surface of the ocean than it does in real life.
Tumblr media
x
The ocean is a big place with lots of room to explore. Mermaids can swim fast and dive super deep but not even you have explored the entirety of the ocean. There are sea creatures that are sharing the ocean with you that you have no idea are real. However, it came as a shock to you when you found a whole colony of Merfolk living not that far from where you’ve been posted for the last several months.
Male Model hasn’t left the town he was last in, and you’ve wanted to keep a careful watch on him in case he decides to push himself like he did last time. Plus, he’s held your hand, seen your face… you’re not letting him go this easily and he doesn’t want you to.
The colony of Merfolk you ran into despises humans. They have such a strong vendetta against them that if you brought up the fact that you’ve been watching them your whole life, they would for sure exile you or worse. You’ve spent most of your life thinking you were alone, and being with them is better than being alone.
You wish you could go back to the surface in search of Male Model but you have to get used to being around other Merfolk. There is a whole world you never knew existed until now, and maybe it’s a good idea to start hanging around people like you instead of humans.
“So, tell us, Y/N, what were you doing before you came to us?” Jessica, one of the mermaids, asks.
There is no way you’re telling her about Male Model. Half of you thinks they are going to go up there to kill him.
“I was a drifter. My family was wiped out by pirates way back when, and I thought all Merfolk were gone. I was alone for a long time so I traveled the globe.”
“I’m glad you’re with us now. I love getting new folks,” she grins.
“Thanks,” you nod. “What about you?”
“I was captured by deep-sea fishermen in their net. My brother saw me trapped and tried to save me before I could be spotted. He got me out of their net but ended up getting tangled himself. They killed him before I could do anything about it. I left and never looked back. I hate humans for what they did to him,” she says angrily.
“You know, I’ve been around the globe several times, and sure there are bad humans, but most of them are good. They might not be as bad as you think they are.”
“Fuck humans,” Jerry, a merman, spats. “They killed my wife and daughter.”
“Humans are bad. They will always choose violence over what they don’t know. You’re better off with us than with them.”
If only they got to see Male Model like you did. He is so kind to you. He doesn’t force you to go above the surface so he grabs scuba gear to be with you longer in the water. It’s a shame they’re letting their fear control them. You used to be like them and hated humans for a long time until you saw how beautiful they could be. You know the stage they’re in so there is no talking to them. There is no changing their mind. They might but it only comes with time.
“Excuse me. I’ll be right back.”
You quickly make your escape before they have a chance to question you. You swim away from the camp to be alone, but you find yourself swimming to the surface just to see Male Model again. The colony down below is a couple of miles away from the surface so you’re not worried about them seeing you here.
There are a ton of people at the beach laughing and having fun with each other when you spot Male Model by the pier. He is holding a pair of binoculars to study the ocean in the distance when he sees you. He lowers the binoculars only to put them to his eyes to make sure what he sees is real. You lift one hand above the surface and wave and he smiles back at you.
He leaves the pier and returns with scuba gear. He has yet to hear the sound of your voice and you have yet to know his actual name. Male Model is cute but you wish to know what his name is. The pier is filled with boats ready to be taken out and one of them belongs to Male Model. He sets his gear in the back and starts her up to travel to where you are.
You sink some more so that only your eyes are above water no matter how creepy it looks. Male Model drives his boat closer to you but instead of stopping next to you, he continues going. He wants to go out where there aren’t any humans around so he can explore freely with you. You sink below the surface and follow his boat to a private area where you two can talk without being overheard.
You breach the surface but only your eyes and nose are above. The rest of you are hidden below and out of view of Male Model. He sits down on the edge of his boat knowing you’re nervous to show all of you to him.
“You’re safe with me. I haven’t told anyone else about you. Not like they’d believe me. They’d probably blame it on what happened a couple of weeks ago,” he stutters. He’s cute when he’s nervous. You look around but only you and him are out here. No boats. No Merfolk. No other humans. “I promise. You’re safe with me.”
What’s life without taking that leap of faith? You’ve spent so much time with him underwater that you feel like you know him. He’s kind and compassionate. You don’t think he’d hurt you. Plus, what is he going to do to you out here? He has a small boat with nothing to keep you tied down.
You swim closer to his boat and grab the edges of it. With one pull, you tug yourself onto the boat so you’re sitting down next to him. Your long hair covers your bare breasts and your tail shimmers in the sun. Male Model looks at you in curiosity and wonder since he’s never been this close to a mermaid before. You haven’t been this close to a human in ages but it’s nice since it’s him. If it were anyone else, you wouldn’t have considered this.
“I’m Sam,” he smiles and sticks his hand out.
“Y/N,” you smile back and shake his hand.
Your skin is slimy smooth due to the salt in the water which also makes it shimmer like glitter in the sunlight.
“Wow, you’re even more beautiful up close.”
“So are you,” you blush.
“I have so many questions for you. I never knew mermaids existed until I met you.”
“I’ll answer anything you want to know.”
“Are there more like you?”
“I didn’t think so for a long time. My family was killed a long time ago by humans, and I thought they had wiped us out. Up until a couple of days ago, I thought I was alone. There is a whole colony of Merfolk a few miles below the surface.”
“Do they like to come to the surface like you?”
“They hate humans like I once did. They won’t allow themselves to see just how wonderful you are. What about you? Have you been diving your whole life?”
“Ever since I could swim. I moved around a lot as a kid but my parents always made sure I had access to a pool wherever we went. In high school, I was on the swim team and got a scholarship for swimming. I began diving in college and have made a career out of it. People hire me to dive down to all kinds of things but I recently got into free diving. I’ve been practicing my whole life and wanted to see how far I could go down. That’s where I met you.”
“Yes, when you were reckless with your life,” you chuckle.
“Hey, I thought I could make it.”
“I’m glad you did.”
“Weird question, but are you able to be out of water?”
That question has always been in the back of your mind. Can you survive out of water? You’ve never tried it in fear of dying. However, since you’re out in the middle of the ocean, if you can’t be without water, you can just jump back in the ocean and be fine.
“I don’t know, honestly. I’ve never tried it.”
“You don’t know what happens when you get dry?”
“I’ve never had the opportunity to be without water. The pirates who captured us kept us in tanks the whole time.”
“Do you want to find out?” he smiles.
“I don’t know. What if I shrivel up and die?”
“You won’t die but if you show signs of any pain, I’ll put you back into the water. Aren’t you a little bit curious?”
“I am a little.”
“So, what do you say?”
“Okay,” you nod.
Sam gets up so he can lift you out of the water completely. He slides his left arm underneath your tail where your knees would be if you had any and the other arm on your back. He lifts you completely out of the water as if you weigh the same as a feather. He walks to the front of the boat where the benches are and lays you on top of one.
It takes a while for something to dry out but the hot summer sun is enough to speed that process along. Your tail starts to burn the more the scales dry out but it’s a good pain. The ocean is just a jump away if you need it but you want to stick it out and see what happens if you’re completely dry.
“How do you feel?”
“So far so good,” you smile. Suddenly, your tail glows brightly and transforms from scales to human skin. Gone is your tail and human legs have replaced it. You gasp and stare at your new form in amazement and wonder. You wiggle your feet and grin at Sam who is also smiling ear to ear. “Look at me! I have legs!” It takes a second to register in your mind that you have no clothes on. Why would you? You didn't have any on when you were a mermaid. “I’m naked.”
“Here, put this on.”
Sam grabs a spare shirt and looks away while you put it on. He’s so much bigger than you that his shirt rests right below your hips so you’re not completely covered down there but you’re not fully naked either.
“I have legs!” you gasp happily.
“Try standing up.”
You swing your legs off the side of the bench and admire the way the floor feels on your bare feet. You lift yourself off the bench and try taking a step when you go crashing to the ground. Before you can, though, Sam catches you.
“It might take a bit before you can master the skill of walking. You’ll get the hang of it.”
“This is amazing. I never knew I could be this way. Let me try again.” You pull away from Sam and try taking another step. You don’t go crashing to the ground but you do wobble so much that you feel like you might. You take another step and grab Sam to steady yourself. “I wonder what happens if I get water on myself.”
Sam grabs a water bottle and splashes some on your arm. Within ten seconds, your legs shine brightly as they transform back into a tail. You gasp and fall back onto the bench carefully so as not to hurt yourself.
“All I have to do is stay dry and I have legs? I can do that.”
“You’ve shown me part of your world, want to see part of mine?”
“Yes,” you nod excitedly.
Never did you think this was possible. This opens up so many new opportunities for you since you’ll finally be able to know what it’s like to be human.

Interactive Fiction Recs
It’s been a while, so I thought I’d update and expand on my previous list of favorite interactive fiction works in progress!
Did anybody ask for this? No. Am I making it anyway to satisfy my obsession for list making? Maybe. Anyways, recommendations under the cut! Damn this got long...

However, things in the town aren’t as they seem, and soon you’re dealing with a cult, the strange family who runs the town, and a string of mysterious deaths. What could go wrong?

hiii lovely!!
I am absolutely in love with your fragile! reader content, especially dottore and fragile reader it's just so hhdnsjsfhs anyways I noticed on the fragile reader but they died post that the reader is mentioned to have only met dottore after he became a harbinger so it made me wonder whether dottore would have a slightly different reaction to akademiya! reader, how the letter would be etc like imagine reader talking abt the akademiya days and whatnot </3
anw!! I just wanted to say I adore ur works and they hit home cus I'm rather sickly lol
mwah mwah byeee
- 🌕
Yea, when I wrote that I didn't think of how good a fragile Akademiya reader would be unfortunately, but I wish I did cuz it would have been so much better-😭 AND YES HE DEFINITELY WOULD ILL WRITE A LIL SOMETHING HERE
To Zandik,
As I write this, it is late at night. One of your clones put me to bed a while ago, yet for some reason, I cannot sleep. I keep tossing and turning and so I decided to do something to occupy my mind. It has been rather restless lately, I admit. I... don't know how to tell you this in person, so I'll just write down whatever comes to mind right now. You'll probably end up finding this eventually, so I might as well just let everything out.
I have been thinking a lot about the past lately. Our Akademiya days, to be specific. I have secretly been wishing to go back to those days, even if just for a bit. To go back to the first moment I met you. (How handsome you were.) To go back to those painful study sessions. To go back to those picnics under the stars. To go back to the time I was not sick, and I could spend life with you to the fullest.
Really, those were some of the best moments of my life. I have been thinking about this because... I have not been feeling well lately. I mean, I don't feel well most of the time but nowadays I feel as though the illness is creeping more and more in me. It might just be a temporary thing, I don't really know. I know you are working as best you can, I know you better than anyone. So... don't blame yourself.
Hah, it's too bad. Admittedly I have also found myself daydreaming about the future, although it seems rather dim. I want to see a lot of the world. Did you know that? Well, I should correct myself. I want to follow you wherever you go and see the world that way. You've gone to Sumeru recently, yes? I know you've told me about how much it's changed, but I hope to see it myself one day. And I want to befriend some of your Harbingers friends. What is their opinion of me, by the way? Ah, and I want to take on that Traveler, too. They seem rather pesky.
Well, if I do get better, I will burn this letter and apologize to you with everything I have. But for now, I'll stash it somewhere just in case. And I'll say this now - I love you, Zandik. I love you so much that if I were to be away from you for too long I'd go mad. This love has burned inside of me since the Akademiya, and it still rages within me. I hope you know that.
Dottore would be much more affected although he doesn't really show it. Hell, even the clones are affected, from how they linger by your door a second too long, remembering that there is no you any more to wake up. He puts a mask on his emotions to pretty much everyone. You have been a familiar face for countless years of his life. In the Akademiya, after pulling another all-nighter, the first thing he'd be greeted with was your sleepy embrace around him. He'd roll his eyes at your nagging, and the two of you would get ready for classes. During his expulsion and exile, even though you were ill, you still stuck by his side. And even during the Fatui, you still sent him that tired but lovely smile. Every day, without fail, you could be seen with him at least for a bit. Yet he failed. For the first time in a long time, he failed.

in the comments of lp episode 387 exiled by minecraft there's speculation as to whether etho's sudden and disastrous ability to travel 64 blocks in the overworld per 1 block in the nether (instead of the normal 8:1) is a glitch, or him trolling us, and additionally whether he got trolled by a commenter. i am here to settle the debate for once and for all.
in the intro to the episode, etho spends time messing around because he's totally out of ideas for the day. he still has the 115 levels from the previous episode and decides to go look for an ice spikes biome a viewer had told him about a while ago because his ice tray is (probably) broken due to biome changes. but he gets sent to 22,400 -88,000 instead and has to kill himself to get home.
can't find the comment again but someone alleged he admitted to trolling or maybe taking advantage of a glitch he'd already known about, but i can find no such tweet (just the automated one linking to the episode on upload day).
Tumblr media
this is true; MC-56799 was resolved in snapshot 14w32a, a month and a half after etho's episode. some commenters reported similar glitches, although at least one is a separate bug related to eating/sleeping while entering nether portals which causes you to teleport to the overworld's coordinates in the nether.
funnily enough, both MC-56799 and its merged ticket MC-56804 link to etho's ep 387 as proof. the only other video footage uses Etho's seed and the exact same coordinates as in his LP episode, so it wasn't etho's newfound video editing skills that are the cause. (it also means that etho and his viewers are pretty much the sole reason the bug got fixed when it did.)
unfortunately, I've found no footage of a 64x nether travel glitch that isn't using etho's seed and specific coordinates; if this ever happened to you during 1.7 or its snapshots, i'd love to know because it's weird as hell.
Tumblr media
lack of other situations causing the glitch makes it hard to tell, but this theory is compelling especially. etho says that a viewer told him there was an ice spikes biome there, so if he did get the coords from a viewer that person was either trolling with the glitch or trying to help.
it turns out there was an ice spike biome in etho's seed in 1.7 at the correct overworld coordinates for the portal he builds, as pointed out by someone in the comments.
Tumblr media
anyway, it turns out that etho really didn't secretly develop immaculate acting skills but it was one big coincidence. i'd love to see who told him about the ice biome but god only knows how many episodes prior that might've been or even if it was on the LP and not another series.
if etho prunes his world download chunks, this one survived perhaps because he revisited and lingered trying to figure out what the hell happened, so you can (allegedly) teleport to 22,400 -80,000 and see the remains for yourself.
thanks for reading this extra-long, extra-niche episode of ethomythbusting.
this is the most interesting thing to me about the glitch, that it may be related to issues with glass panes rather than coordinates - but i simply don't have the time to load up pre-1.8 snapshots just to test a bunch of random nether portals at different coordinates etc. when the bug is fixed. i just love discontinued features.

reviewing everything starring mads mikkelsen (ongoing)
Mild spoilers warning - I am vague but I do describe endings and progression as negative/positive, so if you don't like knowing what happens at all, beware.
Bleeder (1999)
Tumblr media
His character in this is quite endearing. A young movie fanatic, a bit reserved and awkward. The other characters' stories are much more chaotic, so in comparison, watching his perspective feels more safe or peaceful. The ending was a pleasant payoff. Awkward, but sweet in a special way. I guess you could say this movie may have a message about testing your comfort zone in hopes of meeting better people to surround yourself with.
The Door (2009)
Tumblr media
The first half of this movie is the better half, and the second half felt a bit absurd or boring for me. I enjoyed that he is a painter, and wish that was revisited more often. I really felt his fall into depression, and I enjoyed the motif of water and repetition of trauma. And then of course, the door is an interesting mechanic. My favorite part of this movie is when he meets himself. Horrific, shocking, amusing, and dramatic. Those were very memorable scenes.
The Hunt (2012)
Tumblr media
The scenes involving other characters were hard to sit through, but I felt the discomfort was somewhat justifiably necessary for enforcing realism; it's not meant to be theatric or entertaining. The longer the movie goes on and the more the situation develops, the more it matures like wine, and his' turmoil grips you. All the action he takes are so enthralling. I love the convenience store scene and the church scene (picture above). The conclusion may be beautiful, but the ending is dreadful. I looked up the meaning/interpretation of it, and that rounded my appreciation for this film. It's sociological commentary. Very true message, whether you like it or not: Once trust is betrayed in a community, it can never be completely earned back. There will always be someone who remembers that rumor, and will try to exile you from society. I believe the title only makes sense after the film is over. You could see the rumor as a scar left on him, like a wounded animal, while other people notice it, and like wolves, they will freely decide to exclude him from their pack, leaving him to die alone.
A Royal Affair (2012)
Tumblr media
You'll really watch this waiting for his character, and be thankful when he arrives. He ultimately influenced the world and people around him for the better. The development is very interesting, and the pacing feels full. You will suspect specific twists of drama or betrayal to happen, and everything that does happens is very realistic- since it is based on a true story- yet still just as interesting as if it were a fictional thriller. At the scene where the priest fidgets with this cross, I arrived to the same quiet realization soon after he did. The priest is praying for forgiveness in his heart, as well as the cross foreshadowing a crucifixion. I felt heavy even until the credits, though the last scene was fulfilling. I don't know anything about Denmark, but this was a great introduction to the 'most dramatic event' in its history.
Men and Chicken (2015)
Tumblr media
This character is very unexpectedly different from his other roles. Regardless of whether the comedy fails my humor, seeing him acting like this is humorous in of itself. I'll write a review after I've finished it.
Doctor Strange (2016)
Tumblr media
There's not a mountain of Mads content or his signature charm here, but it's very interesting to see him as a flat antagonist with not much depth at all. His darkness is sickness, like it makes you feel hopeless for him. Dark, as if he has surrendered himself to the drug of black magic. It kind of scared me. Also, the magic distorting and fracturing architecture is beautiful.
Arctic (2018)
Tumblr media
This movie amazes me, despite its simplicity. It's pure survival. It's morbidly dreary, but then you see he has it figured out. His system of survival sets you up to believe in him and assume a vicarious spectatorship that is held and tested for a long duration. You're never sure if they'll make it, but you don't want them to give up. There is a lot of energy expended just to survive, which radiates a warmth, a sense of self-fulfilling purpose, with the risk of the cold biting it away into hopelessness and death. I really felt the twists and turns, the decisions and mistakes, all the way through.
Polar (2019)
Tumblr media
It's simply satisfying to watch him do what he does, a classic toughguy trope. This is an adaptation of a comic, (which I haven't read) and I enjoy how the style is adapted. The female deuteragonist is precious. It feels as though the movie is split into two sides; a double life, blood versus quiet. Both of the characters can be found in this duality of mental states, trauma and seeking peace for it. They may be similar, yet they are almost polar opposites. I love them. I really enjoyed the twist, a bomb drop after all that painstaking effort to survive, and the conclusion tempts me to know what happens next in the comics (if there is more, that is...).
Death Stranding (2019)
Tumblr media
It's been a while since I've sat down and watched through a playthrough, but with that being said, I love this game... because I treat it like a movie. I will say, I like stories that play with mortality and perception. It was very interesting to meet Cliff as a father figure in claustrophobic recordings, and then meet him again as an antagonist with immaculate symbolism and aesthetics. He is trapped in the battlefield, like a dead soldier, and/or a traumatized man. Stasis, incompleteness, and sacrifice would appear to be themes. I really love the nonlinear storytelling. I really enjoyed the twist/reveal. It probably gave me goosebumps when I first saw it.
Another Round (2020)
Tumblr media
This is probably one of my favorites. I appreciate a story that serves a thesis to life. I can't say much of my thoughts because I literally just watched it, but I think it executed the idea well. There's a lot of moments of amazing payoff, but you know how much of it may become bad, yet the dread of knowledge doesn't nullify any of what you experience along the way. It also feels rare to see other characters surrounding his character to have such a bond and impact to him. The ending felt so out of key in the perfect way. It's a profound (philosophical) party movie.
Hannibal (2013-2015)
Tumblr media
A few years ago, I had watched the first two seasons, and had basically zoned out halfway through S3, then stopped... for some reason that I've now forgotten, after experiencing the finale. It's stuck with me and may for some time. 3rd season is proper good, and gave clarity to the character of Hannibal, and conclusion to Will's relationship with him. It's as though on your first watch you are as blinded as Will, despite knowing as a viewer that Hannibal Lecter is obviously (or very likely) the 'Chesapeake Ripper' in the show. The veil is lifted from his eyes once, but there are still layers yet to peek through, the nebulosity of darkness shrouding the relationship, (for Hannibal intrinsically has a 'dark' mind; seemingly insane by all humane reason) and yet onward do they get to know each other... like any other relationship. Rewatching is very enjoyable, because you can now assume Hannibal's perspective after learning his patterns and values, stripping away the mystery and watching the characters trying to arrive to where you are in understanding. Plenty moments where all Mads gives is a seemingly empty glance, but after obtaining objective knowledge, there is infinite texture to it. Very humanizing, Hannibal almost becoming a bit more alike Mads' other roles, (that of which being protagonists) yet still an antagonist.

A piece of us | KSJ - Epilogue
Synopsis: Three years later you find out something exiting.
Pairing: Reader x Kim Seokjin
Genres: Marriage | Fighting | Pregnancy
Word Count: 2K
Read on Ao3
Tumblr media
You sit on the bathroom floor, tears pouring down. In front of you are four different pregnancy tests - all positive. You and Seokjin haven't exactly been trying, but you haven't been using protection since welcoming your daughter into this world three years ago, either. Deep down you knew this could happen, and you silently hoped for it, too. However, never, in your wildest dreams, would you imagine it actually happening: getting pregnant for the second time. Having another baby with the man you live.
"I'm home, girls!" Seokjin shouts from the hallway, probably forgetting your daughter's playdate, which you conveniently scheduled for today so you could take the tests without your daughter banging on the door, crying because you locked the door for once.
"In here," you shout back, standing up with shaking legs. After a couple of seconds, Seokjin approaches the bathroom, looking at you with big eyes.
"What's wrong?" he asks, rushing to your side and hugging you tightly, kissing the top of your head. "What happened?"
"Look," you say, freeing yourself to show him the positive pregnancy tests. "I just found out."
"Oh my god." Seokjin´s first reaction is to laugh, pick you up and spin you around. As he puts you down he kisses you deeply, forgetting everything except the two of you. Then, something enter his mind. "Where's Tae?"
"Playdate," you tell him.
"How did… Why did… I'm so happy I don't even know what to say right now," he says, studying the tests. A realization hits him, filing him with hope and excitement. "This means I can finally do everything right. Last time everything was a mess, but now I can be here for you. I have so many regrets from the first pregnancy, maybe I finally can try and make something right."
"You're happy?"
"Of course I am! Not just happy, extatic," he says, pausing. Seokjin falters a little as he takes in your tears. "Are you?"
"I am! It's just a lot. Honestly, I didn't think we would ever get to do it again. To have a good pregnancy," you tell him honestly. "And I'm scared from last time. Not only was I all alone last time, but I also had that scary experience when I started to bleed. Seokjin, there is so much I haven't told you. Did you know I had the worst morning sickness?"
"You haven't," he says, hugging you. "But I'm here now, I can be here for you and experience it all with you this time. Trust me, everything is so much more stable. I am much more stable. And I'm here, for whatever you need." He looks at you for a while. "I'm sorry it turned out like this, baby. This should be an happy occasion, but it ´s tainted."
"You're right, things will be different this time," you say, giving him a kiss. "I trust you. I can be happy about this. "
"So… Should we celebrate?"
"What are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking a steaming hot bath, some snacks and a good drink. Just the two of us."
"Sounds perfect."
Tumblr media
It's dinnertime. You, Seokjin and Taeyang are sitting by the dinner table, Seokjin cutting up the food for your daughter while you just look at them, loving them so indescribably much.
"Darling," Seokjin says to you, nodding his head. You nod back. "Tae, baby, there is something we have to talk to you about. Mom and dad want to tell you something exiting," he says.
"Exiling?" Taeyang asks.
"Exiting, honey. Exiting," you tell her, and she repeats the word back to you. "It means something that makes us happy."
"Am I exiting?"
"The most exiting thing in the world," Seokjin tells her, smiling lovingly at her. Right now, it feels like his heart might grow out of his chest. " Are you ready to hear the other exiting thing?"
"Yes!"
"Do you know how you were made?" you ask, earning a shake of the head. "Well, mom and dad decided we wanted to have you, so we gathered all the love we had for each other and put it in my belly. Then, you started to grow inside of mommy's tummy."
"How?"
"Well, mommy has something in her tummy that grows babies, and first, she grew you!" you tell her.
"How?"
Seokjin chuckles. "It's difficult to explain everything to you right now, but do you want to hear something very exiting? Something just as exiting as you?" Taeyang nods her head enthusiastically. "Right now, in mommy's tummy, there is another baby growing."
"How?"
"Dad and I wanted to have another baby," you tell her.
"What about me?"
"You will have a little sister or brother! Someone you can share your love with, your sadness with, and your happiness with." Taeyang looks displeased, and so you go on. "And we will love her just the same as we love you, not any less, not any more."
"How?"
"Mom and dad will have to grow their hearts to make room for the love we have for him or her," you explain, watching as Taeyang looks at you with huge eyes.
Seokjin smiles and places Taeyang drink in front of her, reminding her to drink. "Baby, this means you will always have someone to play with and talk to. Doesn't it sound fun?"
"I dont know…"
"How come?" Seokjin asks.
"What if the baby doesn't like me? Or if I don't like baby?"
"We don´t want you to worry about that. The baby will love you because you're you. And if you're angry at the baby then you have to come to mom or dad and talk to us about it and we can figure something out. However, I don't think that will happen. Do you know why?" Taeyang shakes her head, and Seokjin goes on. "Because siblings have a bond that makes them love each other. Maybe you feel it already?"
"Can I touch the tummy?"
You stand up and show them your non-existing baby belly. Your daughter stretches out her hand and touches the stomach, closing her eyes hard.
"I feel it! I feel it!" she shouts, making you and Seokjin laugh.
"See, I told you."
"Remember Taeyang, mom and dad will always love you," you say, hugging your daughter.
"Yes, always."
Tumblr media
You walk in, your daughter on your hip. You don't really know why your heart is beating so fast, or why your hands are so clammy. There is nothing to be nervous about. Your mum and dad, Seokjin´s mum and Seokjin are all waiting for you in the living room. As soon as Taeyang sees Seokjin´s mom, she starts to fuss, demanding to be let down with her whole entire body-language.
"Granny!" She shouts, running as fast as she can, stretching her little hands in the air in front of her. It's a luxury seing her granny as she lives so far away, and always reacts the same when she sees her.
"My lovely. How are you?" She asks, leaning so your mum can greet Teayang as well.
"I have new toy!" You daughter says, pointing to her new pretend doctor set in the corner of the living room. Taeyang is put down and runs directly to it, ignoring the grownups again. You share hugs and settle down on the couch.
"It's great that we could all gather again. It's been too long," you say, grabbing your husband's hand.
"It has! I was saying this to Jinia just the other day. How great of you to arrange this," his mother says. "Have you been well?" She asks your parents.
"Oh yes. I just retired," you dad says happily.
"That sounds nice."
"I finally have time for my lovely wife," he says. "But she thinks I should take a cooking course."
"Yes, dear. Then it wouldn't hurt my tastebuds as much," your mum teases, clearly not meaning it.
There is a couple of seconds of silence, and then Seokjin speaks up, making your heart rate pick up. "Tae baby? Can you come here for a minute? Your grandparents wants to see your new shirt."
Happily, your daughter runs over, proudly displaying her new shirt. In yellow glitter it says: Best big sister! You parents look confused.
"What?" You mum asks.
"We're pregnant," Seokjin finally says, and you can tell how happy he is that the two of you can do it properly this time. "Again." Your parents erupt with joy, all of them moving forward to hug you, Seokjin and Taeyang.
"Congratulations!"
"It's finally happening again!"
"There you go!"
"How far along are you?" Seokjin´s mom asks, placing  her arm carefully around your shoulders.
"Just 3 months, but it's getting harder to hide it," you say with your hand over the small baby belly.
"We are so happy for you," your mum says, drying her tears.
"You did good," you dad tells you, kissing the top of your head. "And you," he tells Seokjin, grasping his hand, but seemingly changing his mind, dragging him into a hug. Then, he picks up his first grandchild. "What about you? Are you exited to be a big sister? You know, they will always look up to you. You will probably be their hero," he says, clearly making your daughter light up.
"Mommy says her heart will have to get bigger with all her love for us! I think the same thing happen to my heart, it feels big."
"That's right. And dad's heart is getting bigger too, it will only continue to grow to make more space for all of us. He already loves us so much, I think his heart will become the biggest one," you tell her.
Taeyang places her head over her granddad's heart. "What about grandad?"
"Of course, I can feel my heart getting bigger already," he plays along.
"No." You daughter announces. "My heart is biggest."
You almost cry - what a perfect family you have.
Tumblr media
Seokjin enters the car, already late for work. Taeyang was fussing over he shoes this morning, and made the two of them late. As if Seokjin´s life wasn't busy enough already with a very, very, very pregnant wife, a toddler and his own company just taking off. He wouldn't trade it off for anything, though. Finally he feels like things are settling down after the scandal that blew up when he left his management.
He sees your name on his phone: missed call. He instantly hits call, waiting impatiently.
"Hi, darling!" He says once you accept. On the other side of the phone he only hears heavy breathing. "Is it happening?" He asks.
"Yes! Meet me at the hospital," you manage to say and hang up.
And no, Seokjin doesn't speed. There is another, perfectly logical, explanation as to how he is at the hospital only ten minutes later, even if the drives normally takes fifteen minutes.
He runs up to the front desk, telling them his wife is in labour and is coming her. They ask for your name, and can inform him that he came here before you.
All he can do as he waits for you in the private room is fix the duvet on the bed and draw the curtains. Then open them again, just in case you want some light. He realizes that you probably prefer privacy over lighting, and close them again.
And then you enter, and Seokjin loses all track of time and space. All he knows is you, the pain you feel and the  swivel of emotions he is feeling. You're wearing a look Seokjin has never seen before, and he is so proud he could cry. You're doing so well, everyone are telling you so, but Seokjin still tells you. Again and again as he holds your hand, brings you ice chips and places a cold cloth to your forehead. He wishes there was more he could do, but settles down with the thought that he, at least, is here this time.
Before he can properly prepare himself, you are told to push, and push you do. Things happen so fast, and he doesn't know anything anymore. Nothing makes sense anymore, but it doesn't matter, because your are delivering his second baby girl, and he has never seen anything like it. Never felt anything like it. Tears mixes with sweat. And then it comes: the scream. And Seokjin knows:
Nothing will ever be good enough after this. Nothing will ever come close to this feeling.
End Note:
I hope you all enjoyed this story. Seokjin really came a long way! We´re all proud of him, aren´t we? <3
Thank you to those who gave kudos or commented, it really means the world! I´m planning another story, so keep a lookout.
Thank you thank you thank you

Hey, Aubrey! Happy be-earlied Fab Friday! :D Just as I'd anticipated, I'm here to send you an early Fab Friday ask so I don't forget.
So, I have two concepts I wanna rant about. I'll try to keep them short since there's two.
So #1: my concepts for the new WIP.
So, I decided against doing nano after all. I just have too much going on to have the motivation to write regularly right now tbh and for the first time since the first time I did nano, I have no shame in it. :) I tried, I thought I could but I learned I couldn't. And it would be hypocritical of me, with how much I preach to allow yourself to take breaks without shame or guilt, for me to then feel bad about quitting nano. :)
But I've written a bit of that WIP since the last Fab Friday and it's already great. I'm so excited to continue it!
I'm gonna post a really short snippet from it instead of talking about it itself.
The day they exiled us, my parents tried to fight for our freedoms… and in the end, they lost their lives for it. They were martyrs in the cause of justice and fairness for my kind. I still never, not ever forget that fact.
The 2nd thing I wanna talk about is less about a WIP (for now) and more about the character the WIP is about.
So first of all, if you've never heard it yet, I recommend the song 1000%, but the WIP was inspired by the song How Villains Are Made by Madalen Duke. PHENOMENAL, haunting song, beautiful. And the second I heard the first few lines, the images of a villain going through their villain arc of BECOMING the villain raced through my mind. I have since then (last night) been working on her. Her name is Yvonne Scarlett Johanna (it was gonna be Johansson but then I was like 😬😬😬 oh right I love that name because it's an actress that I adore xD).
Anyway, she's secretly an artist. Has been tagging buildings since she was 14 or so. She accidentally killed her first victim, which was a police officer that had caught her tagging a building when she was 21 or 22 (I can't remember the exact age I wrote down).
Her calling card is what I'm REALLY EXCITED about though. She does graffitti that shows their faces but it's unique because one side of the face is all dolled up like they're going on a fancy date or something and the other side is like a decaying face, blood dripping from the face, rotting flesh, the whole nine yards. And to finish the scene, the corpse has paintbrushes (which were not used in the art, it's just for the art's sake) hanging out of the mouth. Her motivation, you ask? To show the world that art can change the world/make a difference.
I have a feeling she's gonna show up in one of my bigger projects because I'm already in love with her. xD I'm thinking she might be one of the killers that Belinda's ex, Ruby, who also happens to be Ikuisuus' first love interest (These are characters from a like 3-4 year old writing project called Death Has a Face) was going after. Ruby was a serial killer that killed serial killers xD and she dated Belinda to go after her. I think that Yvonne might be another woman she had figured out who she was and planned to kill. But I'm thinking maybe something caused her to change her mind.
Anywayyyy! This is so long, I'm sorry. I've been so excited to rant and ramble about my thoughts and ideas.
Tumblr media
I am ALREADY in love with Yvonne!!! She sounds like a character who would make me scoop up a book off the shelf in a HEARTBEAT!!!
Also kudos to you for assessing whether you want to/have time for NaNo. Sometimes it can get really easy to overcommit, especially if you've been doing NaNo for a long time and you don't want to miss out.
But it's super important to prioritize your well-being, your mental health, and your energy alongside your writing ♥

the stronger you are, the harder you fall
Summary: Satoru Gojo is perceived to be an aloof, careless man. A dangerous one. But there's more to him than people think.
Sheep probably think lions are villains too.
(Also on AO3 )
✧*°✧*
The strongest sorcerer.
That's what people called him. The cocky, selfish womanizing sorcerer with a god complex.
Oh but only if they knew.
His birth changed the entire trajectory of the jujutsu world as everyone knew it. He wasn't even a toddler before people started calling him 'the greatest in over a thousand years'.
So what he was a bit cocky? Maybe it's because he was told he was great his whole life by people who were much older than him. So who was he to care? In his mind, it was merely reparations.
It's the least his clan can do, after they stripped him of his childhood.
...
He didn't have friends.
"The strongest sorcerer of our clan shouldn't align himself with the likes of them."
The children in question were just....children. Children with love and laughter, hopes and dreams. With choices. Satoru Gojo had none of those.
His only purpose was to protect the world from curses. Anything besides that was irrelevant. It was all but drilled into him.
"Get inside, Satoru. It's after one in the afternoon, no need for you to trouble yourself with those that are not on your level."
If he was going to be alone for the rest of his life, he might as well be good at it.
So now, when everyone called him the strongest, he nodded and smiled, going along with them.
But the smile didn't reach his eyes.
__
When Satoru Gojo turned fifteen, he found himself interested in someone. She was pretty, with kind eyes and a beautiful smile. But she was taken out by the Sorcerer Killer—Toji fucking Fushiguro.
Geto had to stop him from killing the man himself.
"He fucking killed her, Suguru! He has to pay!"
Geto's calm but fierce eyes found Satoru's piercing blue ones as held his gaze, sympathizing with his pain yet knowing that nothing he could do would bring her back.
"If you kill him, then everyone will be after you and I don't think you want Shoko caught up in that, now do you?"
The blue eyed boy punched the wall in front of him in anger, tired and angry at the world but most importantly he was fed up with the world of sorcery. He ignored the blood that dripped from his pale fists. He was angry at his family for putting the burden of the jujutsu world on him and taking away any semblance of happiness he could've possibly had. Angry at the world for expecting him to be flawless.
He was just angry at the world.
After that, Gojo made a vow to himself to never love again.
__
Two years later, he and Suguru were tasked with keeping the star plasma vessel, Riko, safe. She was a middle schooler and in some ways, even reminded himself of how he used to be growing up before his cruel reality snapped him awake from his reverie.
He didn't want to admit it at first, but she had grown on him. They had only known her for a short while but surely enough, he started to consider her family.
"We'll keep you safe, Riko. I promise."
A promise he couldn't keep. A promise that broke his heart and had darkened Suguru's. Because now his best friend understood. He understood why Satoru had felt this way in the first place.
The higher ups only saw the strongest sorcerers as a means to an end. And although, he could easily kill them, there would be no point. More of them would just take their place and where would he be? An outsider. Exiled. Unable to make any change on his end.
So he decided then and there that he would protect the future generation of jujutsu sorcery, to see them excel where the conservative, traditional fools of their current world would not.
"Satoru, a teacher? Really?"
The platinum-haired giant smirked, "What? You think I wouldn't be able to teach a couple of teenagers?"
"No." Suguru deadpanned.
If only he saw what Riko's death had done to Geto earlier on. His best and only friend, and at times possibly more than that, was hurting and there was nothing Gojo could do. He was more absent now, more zoned out and exhausted and depressed than Satoru had ever seen him. He was always the one that kept Gojo on his toes. Always ready to reprimand him should he go astray.
But now it seemed it was the opposite. A world where Suguru had lost his way and possibly his mind. The news of his parents' murder surprised the blue-eyed sorcerer. Geto was many things, but a cold-blooded killer wasn't one of them.
"Are you the strongest because you're Gojo Satoru?"
Gojo's eyes were wide, unshed tears in his waterline as he listened to his best friend. What he was saying?
"Or are you Gojo Satoru because you're the strongest?"
He didn't even give him time to answer, probably already knowing it anyway. Gojo held his outstretched, trembling hand in front of him, his fingers aching and sweaty, the mere thought of having to end his best friend's—his soulmate's— life made his gut churn and tumble, the bile welled up in his throat. His eyes burning with hot tears.
Satoru Gojo never felt sick. His endless cursed energy made sure of that.
As he walked off, he kept replaying the moment over and over in his mind, desperate for answers. How did Suguru become this? What was even the point of all his power if he couldn't even save his best friend?
What good was the strongest sorcerer when he couldn't even save the one person who was worth anything to him? What was the point? What was it?
--
Their last words to each other rang in the sorcerer's mind like a record player with the same record on repeat. Kind of like how they do it in horror movies, he thought. It was a sick and twisted memory that plagued him every night and every day. He took overtime, he taught his students, he went home and did it all over again for months. Yaga was ever so observant, taking in Gojo's fake smiles and teases. Plucking them apart like a violinist plucks a string, feeling its vibrations just enough to play the tune, but as cleverly as a professional could be.
Despite his cheerful and aloof persona, the man was living nightmares day by day and no one even knew.
No one suspected.
How could they when he was everyone's resident idiot?
But Yaga knew.
The man used to teach Satoru after all, and a teacher who always cares is always aware. That, he knows.
So when Satoru brushes him off with a polite, yet firm "No thank you" to an inquiry about his mental state, he knew to drop the matter entirely.
You can bring a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.
Gojo kept his feelings to himself, painfully aware that his emotions could create curses and a curse created by the Satoru Gojo could easily bring down the entire world.
He almost laughed to himself. He wasn't even allowed to grieve his one and only or even deal with it the way he wanted to.
So he stayed silent. Jujutsu sorcerers could opt in for therapy sessions, sure, but no therapist could give him the answers he needed. No, what he needed was to reform the jujutsu world so that these things stopped happening. He needed action, not empty words on a payroll. He wanted to make sure that the future of jujutsu was nothing like the world the old geezers created.
He wanted his students to have happiness, to have freedom. Besides, no one was allowed to take youth away from young people.
He knew that all too well.

I'm once again thinking about War of Wrath.
when reading the Silmarillion there's an illusion of everything happening very fast: Host of Valar arrived, they kicked Morgoth's ass - 2 weeks tops, maybe a month. no wonder none of the eldar houses joined the fight - they barely had time to notice anything was happening (besides they did deserve to take a breather).
but NO! turns out the War of Wrath lasted 45 FUCKING YEARS! excuse me jirt but WHAT THE FUCK?? you're telling me Mablung and Beleg fought in Nirnaeth (a one time battle lasting only a few days, and they were from politically opposite kingdom), but not even one elf joined the several decades long war with much higher probability of being won, when the whole world was at stake??
after the War and after being called to return to Valinor there was enough eldar who decided to stay to build the kingdom in Lindon. you don't build a kingdom with 500 people, there had to be thousands of those who chose to stay in exile. and the ones staying were a minority. even if we assume most of the Beleriand elves already lost all hope and didn't want to fight, are we to really believe there were no:
young elves, born before Dagor Bragollach, or even right after if their mothers were already pregnant - they'd reach adulthood during the war. yes, they'd be traumatized by the general state of the world at the end of the First Age, but shouldn't at least some of them decide to join the fighting and do something, now that they actually have a chance of succeeding?
older exiles, maybe even kinslayers from Alqalonde, making a calculated political decision to join the fighting, hoping to redeem themselves/earn enough good points to be allowed to return to Valinor/commit a socially acceptable suicide
elves who simply consider Middle-Earth their home and were determined to fight for it
(heck, under specific circumstances we can even consider young politically ambitious Gil-Galad railing everybody into one last stand, because he has to establish himself lest he'll just be dragged off to Valinor by his ear like a child. and how better prove yourself than in war?)
so, really jirt. cool idea, but similarly as with Quenya ban, works only on paper and falls apart as soon as you think about it critically for longer than 5 minutes.
y'all fanfic writers putting Gil-Galad's host, Elrond and Elros and assorted fëanorians at the front lines - I love you!

Barbie (2023)
This movie has made like half a billion dollars in its first week so odds are good that you've seen it, but in case you haven’t seen it, let’s get the plot synopsis out of the way (SPOILERS):
Margot Robbie plays Stereotypical Barbie, the tall blonde pretty skinny Barbie in a world of other Barbies who are slightly different (most notably Weird Barbie (Kate McKinnon)). Ryan Gosling plays Ken, surrounded by a few other Kens led by Simu Liu, and Allan (Michael Cera), a perpetually uncomfortable friend of Ken’s who seems to love the man deeply while also being very annoyed by him much of the time (don’t say Greta Gerwig knows nothing about male friendships).
During a girls’ night dance party, Stereotypical Barbie starts to have some unexpected and unprecedented thoughts about death, and wakes up the next morning to find that nothing in her home in Barbie Land is working the way it should. She seeks counsel from Weird Barbie, who tells her that she needs to go to the real world and find the girl her doll avatar belongs to and get her to stop thinking about stuff. That’s Gloria (America Ferrera), a somewhat timid woman with a murky career at Mattel and a caustic teenage daughter named Sasha (Ariana Greenblatt). So Barbie sets out to find Gloria, while Ken tags along and discovers the wonders of patriarchy. After a lot of zaniness, confusion, and pictures of horses, Stereotypical Barbie exiles herself from Barbie Land and joins forces with Gloria and Sasha to visit a gynecologist.
I debated with myself for a little while whether to try to approach this movie, because although I really enjoyed it, it’s very obviously not made for me and there’s no way I can understand it in the way someone who grew up playing with Barbie can understand it. It’s a story about what it means to grow out of the childish fantasies represented by Barbie and all of her friends and professions, and begin to confront the reality that there is no valid culturally approved femininity (or masculinity) to grow into anymore, which is a difficult situation that the Barbie concept simultaneously encourages, laments, ignores, and helped to create. I can speak to Ken’s bullshit here, but to some extent the interplay between Stereotypical Barbie, Gloria, Sasha, the CEO of Mattel (Will Ferrell), Ruth Handler (Rhea Perlman), and the world at large is unknowable to me because they are based on experiences and fantasies I’ve never had, stories about myself I’ve never been told. But in the end I decided I wanted to try, because the discourse around this thing has become so muddy and stupid it’s threatening to overtake the merit of the film itself, which is a real shame.
Obviously there is nothing to the right-wing idea that the movie is too feminist or anti-man, and those criticisms can be dismissed without a second thought. Right-wing commentators like to pretend that they’ve never actually met a man in real life, but the rest of us have, and we know that most men would, if given the opportunity, be absolutely thrilled to take up residence in a big stupid mansion and call it the Mojo Dojo Casa House. Every cis-het man wants to wear obnoxious clothes, sing songs with his friends, and cry. Not up for debate, sorry. As for the too-feminist angle, the primary goal of the women in this story seems to be to feel like they’re not doing everything wrong every minute of every day. If you oppose that, get fucked!
I’ve also seen a lot of pretzel-knot-logic thinkpieces and social media posts deliberating with excruciating self-consciousness whether Barbie is feminist enough, whether it’s too capitalist, whether it really understands itself. This is third-wave feminism masquerading as something modern in a time when even fourth-wave feminism is sunsetting. All of these concerns come second, and a distant second at that, to whether it’s a fun, clever movie that you can have a good time watching with your friends and helps you feel good about yourself. We don’t have time anymore for tedious, labored games of “Should I Be Enjoying This?”
More about that: Greta Gerwig’s real triumph here is not that she managed to get Mattel to produce a movie that’s openly critical of its product (while also selling it), or that she created something that can be easily imagined to be infuriating to bigots, or even just that she made a lot of money for a lot of people; it’s that she managed to use a plastic fantasy land to make an engaging movie about the lived experiences of multiple generations of American women where everyone is kind of stupid and cringe in equal measure, but each character comes out looking like some kind of hero if you think about them for long enough. That’s the triumph because that’s real life.
There’s an effort here to release us from the prison of constantly asking ourselves whether we are feminist enough, or too capitalist, or if we understand ourselves, by more or less taking the position that to an extent these questions are nonsensical to ask about your personal experience as someone who is growing and developing in a world that you didn’t create and can’t control. I’m sure there are plenty of Mattel products floating in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. You probably also played with a Weird Barbie when you were a kid. These things aren’t really spiritually related, and shouldn’t be. When Gloria, someone who lives an unremarkable life but spends her free time drawing pictures of Crippling Shame Barbie, delivers her tired (though still not wrong) speech about the contradictory expectations put on women in American society and then gets brutally shot down trying to pitch an “Ordinary Barbie” to the Mattel CEO, that’s not supposed to be the moment that ties the whole film’s message together; that’s a woman who has yet to learn that there can be no ordinary Barbie because there are no ordinary women. She is still growing, as is her daughter, as is Barbie, as are we all, and all this bone-headed discussion about whether Greta Gerwig has accomplished these granular yet amorphous feminist-labeled goals only serves to suppress that realistic and compassionate ideal in favor of yet another set of impossible-to-meet standards.
That said, I want to bring this back to Barbie visiting her gynecologist for the first time. Gerwig herself has said in interviews that her own memories of feeling ashamed of her body inspired her to include that scene, because she wanted girls in the audience to see Barbie happily taking care of herself and know that it wasn’t something that needed to be hidden. It also seems to be an important line in that much is made earlier in the movie of Barbie having no vagina (in one scene she says plainly to a group of wolf-whistling construction workers, “You should know that I don’t have a vagina.”), but here she is confirming that not only does she have one now that she’s transitioned to the real world, she has a human one that needs maintenance. She is real now. She is herself, whatever that might be. And as intent as some seem to be on robbing this movie of its authenticity, the singular characteristic of Gerwig’s Barbie that shines through is that for all of its silliness, it’s a genuine film with genuine heart, and that’s what it wants for its audience. Be genuine people, or do the best you can. Forget the rest.
P.S. I know I’m ignoring Ken’s storyline, which is a huge part of the movie. Suffice to say that Ken’s self-worth is completely tied up in getting a woman’s attention, and when that doesn’t work he tries to heal his wounds by fully investing in patriarchy, which also doesn’t work. So then he has to try getting a life. Tale as old as time.

"My father was a Renaissance man. He was someone who loved knowledge. We didn't have much, but we had books. You read enough books, you start having thoughts that you can write something yourself. I had been writing before I came to America as a political exile. America is a beautiful country. It's not perfect. It has its own problems. But compared to Cameroon, it's night and day. Here, I was finally able to make a living as an artist and an author.
It takes place 4000 years ago in an ancient African kingdom at a time when the world was full of superstition. Back then, the chief high priest of a kingdom was a very powerful person. He had a direct connection to God. When he came back from the top of the mountain, he would tell the King this is what God has said. This becomes law. This is not uncommon in other cultures. You had great power as a shaman or priest. Not too long ago, the Pope had the power to decide who becomes King and the power to take that away. This high priest also has two troubling traits. The first, he has an extreme fear of death stemming from witnessing his father die in traumatic circumstances. And secondly, he has an intense love of power. When you combine them together, and you give him that much power, you realize that the decisions he makes can affect policy but also the lives of a vast number of people not just in his kingdom but in those surrounding it. He one day decides he does not want to die and embarks on a journey to find immortality, and the rest of the book documents that journey.
Human beings evolve over time. There are all these different things we have within our DNA to help us survive. And so every human has the ability to take human life. If you put them under specific circumstances, with specific pressures. Even a dove will become a lion." - The Vision of the Blind King by Ako A. Eyong
