Curious about your thoughts on the lawsuit against Jensen and whether or not you think it will ruin his career and prospects for producing anything else. Of course both J's fans are once again arguing over who is better than the other and who is a more competent producer. To be honest I never fully immersed myself in the fandom and everyday I know why. Seeing Jensen fail seems to be the thing now and no matter how well either of them do people will continue to hate one or the other. Only the people ignoring the drama are having fun in the SPN fandom while others continue a cycle of my fave is doing better than yours. Hopefully Jensen and Danneel will take responsibility and settle this case amicably but ultimately human beings make mistakes and he is not immune from that. I like both Jared and Jensen and if they fail and make mistakes I will either let them go or try to be understanding and hope they grow and learn from those mistakes. No one does anything perfect 100% of the time. I understand some fans bitterness towards Jensen but sometimes I wonder what does that bitterness really get you. Even if Jensen retires tomorrow and is never heard from again I'm sure he would still be talked about due to his failure to thrive beyond Supernatural. The fandom experience should be fun but it doesn't feel fun when it comes to SPN. Anyway love your blog and your level headed opinions. Sorry for the long post.
NGL, some of this struck me really weird, but I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and assume maybe you've just spent too much time listening to weird stan echo chambers.
The idea that people in general are going to be talking about Jensen's "failure to thrive" beyond Supernatural is just ... a take. Let's put aside that he's done several movies of voice work as animated Batman and pretend The Boys is totally a show no one ever talks about or talks about in terms of Jensen's performance on it. As well as that it's been only three years since SPN's finale filmed - not only do projects take time to develop often counted in years and more than occasionally get shit-canned when one of hundreds of factors falls through? Those three years have included the tail end of a global pandemic and now a writers' and actors' strike. Forget all that. It's still the case that normals don't sit around talking about what a huge disappointment the cast from, say, Friends are for not having super memorable roles afterwards - they're talking about Friends. Similarly, co-lead of a fifteen year show is a respectable acting career in and of itself. Only obsessed stans of one stripe or another desperate to make everything a competition talk like that about an actor, and again, nobody should take them seriously.
But let's move on to the case itself [X]. Immediate preface, I am not a lawyer, and definitely not a lawyer specializing in this area of law, so grain of salt and all that. However, the way our legal system typically works is that you can file a lawsuit for just about anything - whether or not you can prove your case in court (or the other side thinks you might be able to enough to settle) is the part that matters. Someone filing a case is not an inherent indication of meritoriousness to that case. I do not know the specifics of the laws regarding filming during weather - other than what has been in the articles about the case. I do not know the specifics of the weather on that day or what the production crew on the ground knew or should have known. Not all heavy rain is accompanied by thunder/lightning and bolt out of the blue is an expression for a reason. If the big players don't decide it's easier to just settle and the case is found to have merit, I do not know the generally relevant case law which might give me an idea of precedent in terms of which defendants might be held legally liable to what degree of culpability.
However, the idea that this will "ruin [Jensen's] career prospects" as a producer, let alone as an actor? That's just ... Even if the case is meritorious enough to reach a settlement or get a verdict in the plaintiff's favor? As you would expect if you know anything much about lawsuits, it names every defendant with any potential culpability. In this case, that includes Warner Bros, The CW, three additional production companies (not including CM), six individuals, and up to 100 additional as-yet-unnamed potential defendants (Does as in John Does 1-100 Inclusive). Jensen is just the one whose name gets pulled for the article text for obvious reasons. The idea it would be on him or Danneel to be making the call on whether or not to settle when it also involves WB and the CW let alone all the other parties ...
Which is not to say an executive producer doesn't hold responsibility for the conditions on set, that IS part of the gig - and why he, Danneel, and Robbie are included in the suit. But only a stan desperately trying to wish their fantasies into existence would look at this list of defendants and the circumstances where it doesn't seem to be alleged that Jensen was directly involved in the specific chain of events and be like HAHA JENSEN'S CAREER IS TOTALLY OVER, NOBODY WILL WANT TO WORK WITH HIM EVER AGAIN!!! IMO, I have doubts it'll even affect John Showalter's likelihood of working again, and he was allegedly the guy making the call on the ground.
I mean, personally, I think TW was a bizarre, ill-considered clusterfuck starting from conception, through prequelgate and the refusal to say it was an AU because ???, to current lawsuit about allegedly questionable set practices. The only way I could see it having any overarching effect on Jensen's career is if he himself decides to move away from producing, though.

I had so much hope for getting a good Metatron when they introduced the character in Supernatural and then they absolutely massacred my boy and you couldn't go into the Metatron tag without getting an absolutely depressing amount of vitriol, name calling and death threats/wishes for the character.
Zero nuance... Just "I hate Metatron and I wish he would be torn limb from limb for all eternity in a Prometheus way"
Because Fans don't like it when you interfere with their gay ship.
I was super looking forward to Good Omens when the TV series was announced, cause this Metatron had place for character development.
And then they gave his part to Gabriel. Adam doesn't even mention Methuselah in his Tadfield Airbase scene.
But I was like... Okay I get it just a minor character.
And now season two rolled around and my immediate thought seeing Gabriel loosing his memory and getting a happy ending was:
a young man made out of golden fire. They could just have kept Jon hamm as Metatron. This should have been Metatron.
People crack shipped the book Metatron and Beelzebub before we even had the series. Of course not as much because they were so minor characters...
But okay, there is a good reason they had to get Gabriel, you can't as easily throw metatron out of heaven... And I was glad we got more of him in Episode 6... And he didn't even do something inherently bad.
He just interacted with the gay ship and... they broke up afterwards... Oh no...
And the Fans went apeshit with their theories. And barely anyone plays with the idea that maybe Aziraphale is just a dumb lovelorn fool in a Rom com and those Can and do make incredibly stupid decisions because the plot demands it.
And because there are so many theories and Aziraphale is clearly perfect and we can't let anyone negatively influence the gay ship... Metatron must be an evil coffee roofier
So another Metatron the fandom hates...
I've seen so many death wishes and "Metacunt"s already. The tag is absolutely vitriolic...
And it hurts my heart, because we have no actual base to hate him this much. Just suspicions.
And I don't trust Neil enough anymore to actually make this a nuanced character instead of just "dude who abuses his power and his mean to the gays"
Also I swear to god if any of you fanatics are going after Derek Jacobi as a person and as an actor like the Spn fandom went after Curtis Armstrong, attacking him as a person for the crime of playing a character you have beef with... I will lose my fucking shit and report any post like that!

Do we think Fjord gets the "it's silly time" blown pupil cat eyes anytime someone mentions the ocean or leaves a button unattended

The first time Fjord slips up (cause he's been practicing using this with Marion bc the word is still uncomfortable and awkward in his mouth) while he's communing and calls the Wildmother 'Mom' and immediately takes it back, stammers through an apology and hopes for once that she wasn't listening.
And yet afterwards the sun is brighter, the breeze is warmer and the clouds on the horizon are like outstretched arms welcoming him home. Later, rocked to sleep with the rolling of the ship on the ocean, Fjord can't help but think "thanks, Mom."

EXU Calamity was a feast of storytelling. I love being entertained, I love watching talented people at work, and I love the epic highs and epic lows of dice roll narratives.
I'm so satisfied by this story. What a delight.

I know it makes narrative sense to have Fjord finally cut all ties to Zehir and Uk'otoa et al, and that scene with the sunbeam and the Wildmother assuring Fjord she is with him was beautiful, but I personally love the idea of him being just a little too tasty for a betrayer god to let go of entirely.
And also because Zehir and Melora are mortal enemies. I like the idea of them competing over this very hot piece of real estate (Fjord).

NGL, i love cons cos I get me some new jensen content, my beloved, but I also dread cons cos drama is almost always a guarantee. You are literally now the only spn/jensen/destiel/misha etc blog I follow so I just wanted to thank you for being a super cool, collected and kind person!! Thank you for being rational and never getting nasty when these guys mess up or are perceived to have messed up. & thank you for only losing it over the beauty of mr ackles etc. You’re the best 💛🙏🏻
I have a love/hate type of relationship with cons. I feel like most of the time it's actually very cool and pleasant time but the internet fandom tends to create drama (this is overall from years of cons btw not this rn)
Aw, i wanna say thank you for those words and I'm happy that my blog is able to provide some type of non drama entertainment but I do also feel bad about that since I'm sure there are some blogs with similar content that are cool and okay to follow.
I try very hard to not react immediately (btw this is speaking once again overall and not about this whole situation), I try to kind of think and look around before I go and post stuff because 90% of the time afterwards I feel like shit if i reacted too fast or whatever. I've been in fandoms before with celebs where there was new horrible drama 24/7 so I kind of learned how to be in a fandom while also not pay attention to it at times. Truth is we all fuck up, no one in this world is perfect and we are all bound to fuck up at least once. The thing that matters the most afterwards is how we react to it and to take responsibility for it. So I try to be open minded about stuff and think a few times before I say shit that I don't mean. And not even bc what if they/he see it but more because afterwards I will feel like shit for not thinking and waiting a bit before making posts.
And you're welcome darling, you can always count on me to lose my shit over that mans beauty! 💕💕

I have never read a fanfic in my life. When you can’t win an argument, I note that you throw out irrelevant tags, like AA and fanfic and any other bs to muddy the waters. The inability to argue on the merits and just splatter the walls w/ innuendo should be beneath you. Now, once again, intelligently address the issue of season 9-14 being Dean centric? It is obvious to most, why do you perpetuate the Sam myth? Seriously want an answer and not the whole “AA” copout. Btw, I have never DOOL.
And you clearly never bothered reading my blog past three screens as I've already answered your entitled demands questions, many times. I just reblogged one of my old posts for your benefit. Beyond that I owe you nothing on my blog you entitled wanker :-)
I perpetuate nothing except talking about the actual show's story, which you're apparently watching with one eye closed. Season 9b/10 was the only second time they attempted at a Dean-centric season. Jensen himself said season 10 was a "rare Dean-focused storyline" and guess what, it flopped hard and they immediate went back to Sam-focused storylines for season 11 through 15. Ask yourself, was Dean more interesting after his mytharcs?  Did you recall any noticeable difference?  Nope, he was the same character afterwards and his misadventure as demon Dean and MoC!Dean was unmemorable and inconsequential.
Take Sam out of SPN and it completely destroys the premise and there is no story. Take Dean out of SPN and will still turn out the same with minimal rewrites: Bobby Singer calls Sam in the pilot to tell him that John has gone missing.  John sells his soul for Sam.  Sam meets Ruby who promises to help Sam save John from hell and she tricks him to release Lucifer.  Sam then traps Lucifer in the Cage along with himself.  Crowley raises Sam soulless from the Cage to work for him to hunt alphas.  Bobby makes a deal with Death to get Sam’s soul out of the Cage.  Crowley uses the captured alphas to opens purgatory and releases the Leviathans.  Sam finds Kevin Tran and they kill Dick Roman and close purgatory.  Season 8 is about Sam and Kevin trying to close the gates of hell and they succeed but didn’t know that by doing so will bust open the gates of heaven and kicked all the angels out.  While trying to track down rogue angels and exorcize them back to heaven, Abaddon shows up chasing Henry Winchester through time.  Henry and Sam bond over missing John.  Henry tells Sam about his legacy with the Mens of Letter and gives him the key to the bunker before he dies saving Sam from Abaddon.  Crowley tricks Sam to receive the Mark of Cain in order to kill Abaddon.  Crowley’s mother, Rowena, returns and offers to remove the MOC form Sam’s arm in exchange for the Back Grimore and by doing so releases Darkness.  To get rid of Darkness, Crowley and Rowena release Lucifer from his Cage who really does try to kill Darkness but gets his ass kicked so he slunks off to possess POTUS and spawn Jack.  Meanwhile, Sam talks Darkness to take a long vacation with God before finding out about Jack and adopts him, leading to the funniest cosmic custody battle between Lucifer and Sam. See how easy it was to imagine SPN without Dean? I did that in under 5 minutes.

The levels of queerness involved in Holy Terror when Dean talks about Cas banging April were already insane (gay sex bottle clinking strikes again) but even more so post 15x18. Like the way we all acknowledged that Dean was jealous too interested in Cas’ sex life (he shoehorns it in and he doesnt say “the reaper you banged” as compliment but as like an accusation??). Then he overcompensates massively for it, which is The Dean Winchester Gender Theory 101. Like Dean wasn’t congratulating Cas on banging April, and he seems aware of that so tries to offset his tonal mistake by adding she was hot 😉😉😉😉 (Straight points for Dean!!) BUT THEN CAS - the campy, soft spoken, most clockably gay version of Cas we’ve seen - JUST PARROTS HIM?? In an episode that’s all about Cas literally copying the Winchesters in order to be A Normal Human and it’s presented as comedic satire of them because they’re so not normal?!?!, you literally cannot ignore it!! You’ve heard [unadorned sincerity] from Cas, so what’s all this then??? The way that he says “so hot” is so forced and so clearly for Dean’s sake!! What queer person watching that did not recognise that flat attempt at Being One of The Lads?? He did not mean it, which in turn makes Dean saying it in the first place a joke as well. Like Dean who are you performing for here? Why does the idea of Cas banging someone else upset your vibe so much?? And then: “And so nice” - what???? He clearly has no idea about what he’s copying from dean here. Not a single heterosexual thought in his head that isn’t stolen straight from Dean’s handbook on Being A Man Dude. That’s why he makes it about gender neutral characteristics, not her specifically female body, which Dean tried to do. AND THEN Cas immediately mentions that it was actually a traumatic incident for him?? Like April was not a Good Time, but Dean is just like.... hookups are Like That??? Like what??? What do you mean Dean??? Why are they using screen time to make Cas read as Gay, talk about how much he didn’t enjoy having sex with a woman, and make Dean relate to that all while Cas is blatantly copying Dean’s masculinity markers??? We’re literally watching a gay man pretend to be heterosexual to impress his (secret gay) Crush by copying his gender performance, which is really a closeted queer man also pretending to heterosexual. Right in front of our faces!! Oh and then Sam does his Gay Shit Alert throat clearing and tries to remove himself from the situation, even though he really has no obvious reason to feel awkward? Like Cas is his buddy and Dean didn’t actually say anything tmi, wouldn’t it make more sense for him to join in? What is it about Dean purposefully touching Cas while saying “not all hookups are perfect” that makes Sam want to nope out of the entire proximity??
The whole scene is honestly incredible. Why did they do it? It’s Buckleming! What!?? Like honest to god what was the point?? AND ALSO? If you wanna go supermetatextual (I know you do), we can bring in Jensen Jackles Jacting Joices Ackles talking about how Dean never acknowledged his feelings for Cas because he didn’t know if he could feel human emotions but CAS IS LITERALLY HUMAN HERE?? Cas was human! He had sex! He went on a “date” in front of Dean!! He understands and feels Eros and he’s made a connection between sex and romance (the sexual experience with April being ruined by her betraying him afterwards) by himself!! Idk where I’m going with this anymore!!! I guess that Dean is queer af all the time on the actual show!! But Please accept my entry to the gender studies class for spn programme at tumblr(dot)edu!!!!
Tldr; Cas is Gay (verified) and with like all most of the retrospectively textual evidence that he’s gay, it’s done by also highlighting Dean’s queerness at the same time and I want to eat glass because of middle aged white men on a c*w legacy show that ended a month ago.

This Crazy Life (Part 10)
DESCRIPTION: Your life changed the moment Jared Padalecki walked through the doors of your shit job, in your shit town. You helped him as much as you could, becoming extremely close. (Characters, Warnings, etc. will change per part.)
CHARACTERS: Jared Padalecki, Waiter, Reader
RELATIONSHIP: Eventual Jared Padalecki x Reader
WORD COUNT: 1458
WARNINGS: Some more fluff and a slow burn.
A/N: Ayyo, another part. Sorry I’ve been taking a long time between posts.
TAGLISTMASTERLIST / JARED PADALECKI MASTERLIST / PART 9
After your shower, you dressed quickly and put on a quick makeup look. You weren’t sure what the boys plans were for the night so you decided being comfortable was more important than anything after travelling all night. You tugged on your Pearl Jam band tee, flannel and jeans before checking over your reflection in the mirror one last time before exiting the bathroom.
The bathroom door swung open as you gathered your dirty clothes from the floor and walked out into the room. Jared was snoring softly on the bed, in the position he was in before you went in and showered. You giggled at the slumbering giant as you pulled your phone out of your bag, placing it at the foot of the bed next to Jared’s.
You tapped on your screen and sighed at the flood of social media notifications and text messages that plastered the screen. You scrolled through your texts, landing on a frantic text from your mother.
-Did you land? Are you okay? Are you back in the states? Please answer me honey.
You bit your lip as you typed a message back to your mother.
-Sorry mom. Yes, we landed and we’re at the hotel. Travelling was kind of crazy and we just settled down and this is the first time I’ve checked my phone since we left Vancouver.
You scrolled through other text messages, replying to friends and family who were checking up on you or had questions. Since moving in with Jared, you had been kind of MIA from everything and everyone. Close friends knew that you moved away but not for what and with who. You were trying to keep your life kind of secretive. You wanted to enjoy your move and your time with Jared without gossip and speculations clouding things.
But, now that peace was going to be cut short.
You were sure it wouldn’t be long until the photos paparazzi took at the airport would leak online with a title that would be something like ‘Padalecki Moves on Quick with Young Mystery Girl’ or ‘Padalecki and Mystery Girl: The Reason for the Padalecki Divorce?’
You could already see all the fan theories flooding social media about you and Jared.
“Y/N? Are you okay?” Jared said as he sat up from the bed, breaking you from your internal turmoil.
“Huh?” You paused, staring at him wide-eyed. “Oh, yeah. I just, I got thinking about those paparazzi taking pictures at the airport.”
“What about them?” He stood up and walked towards you, concerned.
You shrugged, “They’re going to spark a lot of talk, Jare.” You sighed, “The peace we had these last couple months will be gone.”
He opened his arms and pulled you into his chest, “It’ll be okay. Like you said, it will be hyped up for a little while but it’ll die down afterwards. I can always have my manager deal with things to help with the media coverage too.” He rubbed your back reassuringly, “Don’t worry, everything will be okay.”
A knock on your door startled you both, causing you to jump away from each other. “Jared! Y/N! Get out here!” You heard Jensen bellow from the other side of the door.
You both chuckled as Jared walked to the door and opened it for Jensen. “Sup Ackles,” you said with a nod.
Jensen looked between you and Jared, “Misha’s panel is about to start. We gotta go man.”
Jared nodded, “Okay. I have to change real quick and we can all head down.”
Jensen looked at an imaginary watch on his wrist as Jared shook his head and laughed. He grabbed his bag and disappeared into the bathroom.
You pulled out your phone again, checking for any new notifications when Jensen cleared his throat, “How are you doing?”
You looked up towards him with a furrowed brow, “What do you mean?”
Jensen sat down on the bed, “I mean, it’s a lot. The more you hangout with Jared and the more you’re in his life, the more things like the paparazzi at the airport will happen.”
You ran a hand through your damp hair, “I’m not going to lie, it freaks me out.” Jensen nodded as he listened to you intently, “But,” you looked towards the bathroom door, “I really can’t imagine my life without that big dork. I need him as much as he needs me.”
He stood from the bed and placed a hand on your shoulder with pursed lips, “I’m glad he has you.” He removed his hand and walked towards the bed, chuckling. “I was hesitant about you at first, being a fan and all. But, you’ve really surprised me. I can’t always be with him, but you are. I appreciate it.”
“Wh-,” Jared opening the bathroom door cut your conversation short.
“You guys ready?”
You nodded eagerly. “I’m more than ready.” You stopped dead in your tracks, “Wait. How am I going to get into the convention? I don’t have tickets.”
Jared ran a hand through his hair with a smile, “Don’t worry about that. We’ll give you exclusive backstage access.”
You rolled your eyes playfully as you followed them out into the hallway. The boys talked and laughed throughout the hotel, putting their plan together on how they wanted to crash Misha’s panel.
In minutes, you were down on the convention floor, walking towards the hotel reception hall. Misha’s voice softly floated through the halls and got louder the closer to the stage you got.
A handler rushed towards the boys, “Jared! Jensen! What a surprise. You’re not supposed to be here until tomorrow.”
Jensen chuckled, “Yeah, we know. But we wanted to surprise everyone,” he leaned towards her with a hand covering the right side of his face, “especially Misha.”
She shook her head as the boys chuckled to themselves and you giggled along with them. Your giggle caught her attention, causing her to crane her neck around them, “Who’s your guest? We didn’t know someone was going to be coming with you guys. Does she have a ticket?”
Jared shook his head, “She doesn’t but she’s with me so she’s fine. She’ll wait backstage.”
The handler bit on her bottom lip, “Okay.” She sighed, “I’ll make sure that she gets a badge, go ahead boys.”
They nodded and trudged along, heading backstage in hushed, gleeful whispers. Other handlers met up with the boys. They whispered their plans to them, causing them to giggle along and hand the boys microphones.
Jensen stood at the curtain, looked back at Jared and threw a thumbs up to see if Jared was ready. Jared looked towards you, mimicking Jensen’s thumbs up towards you, seeing if you were going to be okay. You nodded at him. He turned towards Jensen with a small smile and nodded quickly.
The boys burst through the curtain while Jensen yelled into the microphone, “Hello Minneapolis!”
“Oh come on!” Misha yelled back. “Why are you two doing here?”
Jared giggled into the mic, “Didn’t think this week at work was weird? We didn’t mess with you in any scenes?”
“Ugh!” Misha roared. “Of course I thought it was weird, but I enjoyed the peace!”
“You should know us better than that man.” Jensen chuckled into the mic, “We always have to mess with you.”
The handler from when you all walked in together came up behind you, putting a hand on your back as she held out your pass beside you, “Here. That way, no one will question you when you aren’t with the boys.”
You took the badge gingerly from her hand and smiled, “Thank you.”
She nodded as she turned on her heel and walked away briskly.
You listened and giggled along with the audience as the boys talked, joked and poked fun at each other. After talking for about 30 minutes, the boys started answering questions. Some fans had cute and fun questions like asking for stories about the kids and what animals the boys would be. Others though, asked some deep and thoughtful questions, almost stumping the boys. Too soon, Misha’s panel ended and the boys filed off the stage.
Jared immediately walked towards you with an extended arm, “How are you doing?” He asked as he wrapped his arm around your shoulder.
You chuckled, “I’m good, Jare.” You craned your neck to look at his face, “How are you doing?”
He pulled you closer to him, “I’m great.” He leaned towards your ear and talked in a hushed tone, “I have you here. Why wouldn’t I be?”
You giggled and shook your head as Misha and Jensen walked towards you both. “So,” Misha said as he rubbed his hands together, “You guys want to go get drinks?”

Nähkästchenplauderei
For those who didn’t know, that’s German. Normally it would be “aus dem Nähkästchen plaudern” which literally translates to “to talk out of the sewing box”. It’s a common phrase in Germany. Means something like “to spill some beans” or “to catch up on all the gossip”or “to share private information”.
Reason why I’m telling you this?
It’s me, Elena. This is a new part of my blog now. I want to involve all of you more in my daily writing and and the related funny stories, problems or ideas and inspirations. Maybe that’s interesting for you. Maybe it’s just a therapeutic exercise for me, when I’m (not) in the mood to write. Not sure yet. xD
I’ll call it “Nähkästchenplauderei” because I talk about me and writing fanfic but not really about their content. I’ll give you some insider stories about the fanfics I wrote/will write. Funny things. What happened to me during writing it, what gave me inspiration and how I do my research or what is important to me about a certain story and why I’m writing it. The daily life (cough *and struggle* cough) of a writer. If you’re not interested in these pieces of information, then you’ll see just the heading and you’ll know ‘Aaaah, that’s not a story I can read so that’s not interesting for me’. So it’s easier for you to skip. But I thought this could be interesting for you. I want to get to know you more and you can always laugh with me or smack your forehead because of my craziness. This could be fun and I am encouraging you to discuss themes or to tell me your opinion or own experiences. Of course, I hope that many of you take part. ❤️
I’ll tag you all only in this part, afterwards you can tell me, if you want to be notified. If you don’t drop a comment, I’ll automatically take you off my taglist for “Nähkästchenplauderei”. I don’t know how many parts this will have. I’ll write one every time I’m in the mood for it.
*oOo*
Nähkästchenplauderei - A blog about my blog.
A new passion - Or the story of me buying a guitar on Amazon at 1am
I always do a lot of research for my stories. I know some authors hate it, but I love doing research. It’s like playing detective and investigating while educating myself further. I always do Pinterest boards (I can share them with you, if you want) for my series because looking at the pictures and the links inspires me during writing. The ‘Simple Man Series’ is Set in an alternative universe where Jensen is a Country singer. I had no idea about country music, to be honest. I got all my knowledge about it from watching ‘Walk the line’ but that’s it. Obviously, I needed to do research! I created a Spotify playlist for the series (which I will link as soon as it’s uploaded).
When I wrote Suspirium or collected pictures for my Pinterest boards I always listened to it. Somehow I fell in love with this kind of music. I never played an instrument because I didn’t have the patience. I played to flute in fifth grade, because it was part of the Music class. We even got grades for playing it. Let me tell you, it was a disaster! Always got Ds. Although I got an A one time. Every time I practiced the flute, my dog started to howl. You see, it really was  awful. I believe that’s why I lost the interest in playing an instrument. I still went to the choir, though, because I loved singing (still do). I always said, if I had the patience I’d love to learn the piano or the guitar, because these are basic instruments and you can play everything on them.
Guess what? I sat there and was writing Suspirium when an idea started to from in my head. There are dozens of Corona online lessons for the guitar, beginner models of guitars aren’t that expensive and you can still sell them or use them as decoration. Normally, I overthink everything. I need ages to make an decision, normally weeks or months till I lost the interest. So I did my research. Which model? Acoustic, western or concert? Which size? Guitar scale? How do I identify a quality product? Best YouTube channels? Best apps?
Found a black one and I immediately fell in love with it. And guess what? It’ll arrive by tomorrow afternoon! :D I really did it and I’m a bit proud of myself for not overthinking it! I’m looking forward to learning every song of artists I love. Adele, Pink, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Train, Oasis, James Arthur, Tom Walker, Lewis Capaldi, James Blunt, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Shawn Mendes, John Legend, Common Linnets, Lumineers and thousands more. Of course, some of my new Country faves, too.
My first song will either be ‘Simple Man’ because the story was inspired by it and it was the first song that I’ve heard Jensen sing or ‘Hey there Delilah’ because I love that one right now. It’s my current catchy tune.
These will be followed by ‘The One that got away’ by Pink and ‘Bonfire heart’ by James Blunt. If these four aren’t too difficult, of course... I’ll keep you updated. :D
*oOo*
The story behind Suspirium - Or as I like to call it, the story of reviving a more than dead language.
I have that idea since I’ve started this blog some time ago. I wasn’t sure if I should make it a Dean, Sam or Cas story, so I brought my arguments up and you could decide which professor you want, remember? As soon as you chose Sam, I knew that he would be a Latin Prof. That’s based on the canon in the series and my preferences. Sam is the best in Latin in the entire series. And I am able to read, translate AND EVEN SPEAK Latin, so it’s something I can relate to. A great subject, although I know that the opinions on Latin are different.
I can speak five languages (German - my mother tongue, English, Spanish, Dutch and Latin, I’d like to learn French soon) and I personally think Latin’s a beautiful language. Of course, it doesn’t sound as beautiful and elegant as French (although French has its origin in Latin). But a language is a lot more than the emphasis. In one of the first chaps of Suspirium Sam and Reader discuss the beauty of Latin.
“Latin is the language of law, architecture and engineering, the military, science, philosophy, religion and - of particular interest here - the language of a flourishing literature which for centuries served as a model for all Western literature. The Latin of literature speaks of love and war in hundreds of masterpieces, reflects on the body and soul, develops theories about the meaning of life and the tasks of man, about the fate of the soul and the nature of matter, sings of the beauty of nature, the meaning of friendship, the pain of losing all that is dear to one; and it criticizes depravity, ponders death, the arbitrariness of power, violence and cruelty. It creates inner images, puts emotions into words, formulates ideas about the world and social life. Latin is the language of the relationship between the one and everything.” Suspirium, Chapter 3
Roman poets are more than two millennia dead, BUT the themes they wrote about (Love, pain, friendship and braveness, also sex...) are still actual in our society. They stood the test of time. A language where no ‘thank you’ exists, just a ‘to be thankful’. This language is mysterious, its culture unbelievable nowadays. It’s like an enigma that wants to be solved - or not, depends on you and if you learn your vocabulary. Trust me, I had to learn that the hard way in seventh grade. ;)
Sam is basically my old Latin teacher. He uses the same methods and tells the same things. He makes jokes, adds additional information and makes his students question the meaning behind the poems and stories.  Sometimes I even used words my teacher said to us. I looked up some of my Latin notes and use that for the lectures. It’s a lot of fun and that’s where I get my inspiration from. A big thank you to my teacher. This story would not work out without him always encouraging me and explaining everything to me, even if he had to do it three times. Gratiam habeo, magister. :D
Questions for you, only if you want to:
Do you play an instrument? Which or would you like to play one?
What’ your favourite genre and who’s your favourite artist and which song?
How many languages do you speak? Which? Which would you like to speak (in addition)?
Wanna tell me your name and origin?
-> Next post will probably be about how I make my covers, choose GIFs, find inspiration on Pinterest and Spotify and my first friendship ever on Tumblr some years ago. And how I got in touch with SPN.

Jibcon10 Auto Stories!
I have so much to tell you all about Jibcon as it was such a wonderful experience and I can’t even begin to express just what an amazing week I had being surrounded by such a positive and happy fandom, along with a very happy and relaxed SPN cast. It was truly magical.
First I want to share my auto stories as I was fortunate enough to have some lovely experiences with all of J2M.
Misha
I had my Misha auto first of all, and I was getting him to sign my Castiel funko pop. I was really nervous as this was my first Misha interaction of the con and last year I didn’t really have a good interaction with him at autos because he was super exhausted and just not really present in the room it seemed. This year as I approached the table he was smiling, he looked refreshed and SO BEAUTIFUL OMG. He looked up and smiled at me and my brain kind of turned to mush right there. I can pretty much only remember saying “Hi Misha” and something along the lines of “I hope you are having a good morning” which could have easily come out as a mumbled scream, but he smiled and responded that he was doing really well and happy to be here (or something like that as I said I can barely remember it!). I then handed him my TFW2.0 button that I was giving out to everyone I met at the con. I told him “I wanted to give you this, as I am spreading a bit of positivity and love to everyone with this button” and he looked at it and grinned and then looked up and said thank you and WINKED AT ME and in all honestly I think I had already died from staring directly into Misha’s eyes at this point so had to have this all retold to me by Jen afterwards.
Jared
I got really lucky with Jared because he was also in a really good and quite chatty mood when I went over to him. He immediately started asking how I was and when I replied he asked me about my accent (AGAIN since he also picked up on my British accent last year!) and where I was from. When I said I was from London he asked if I was staying in Italy long and I told him that sadly no, I was flying back home on Monday. He goes “Ah bummer” and I sort of shrugged. He then looked down at my Sam funko pop and asked “where shall I sign him?” and I said “oh anywhere you want really!” and he was being really cute like “okay I’ll just sign his head here” and fumbling around with a silver pen. I then also told him that I wanted to give him a button like I did with Misha, and he goes “ooh yes!” and he took it and read it and said “What does TFW mean?” and I just looked at him like “seriously Jared? Team Free Will!” and he laughed and was like “OH YEAH DUH” and he then read it again and fist pumped and said “YEAH TEAM FREE WILL TWO POINT OH!” and we laughed and that was nice. THEN I said “Oh just quickly, I really wanted to thank you for everything you said in your panel yesterday (Jared’s Saturday afternoon panel) because so much of what you were saying about the show really resonated with the fandom and those of us who talk about it and write about it online. Your thoughts just seemed really on point and I thought it was such an interesting and enjoyable panel and I wanted to thank you for that. I loved it.” and he was nodding and smiling and he said “really? You really thought that?” and I was like “yes it was awesome” and he seemed really touched that we were all really interested in what he was saying and he held my gaze for a while and was so attentive and honestly I just love him and both times I have met him now he has been very gracious and attentive and engaged which I think says a lot about how much he cares about his fans.
Jensen
I was the MOST scared to approach Jensen because my auto with him last year (being the only time I actually had a 121 interaction with him at the con) wasn’t really good because he didn’t seem to be in a good mood and wasn’t really interested in interacting with me. I barely got a “hello” from him which made me sad. This year, I really wanted things to go better, and I had my commission from @winchester-reload for him to sign so I was hoping that he’d be in a better mood.
Well luckily he WAS. He was late for autos, and the staff were really rushing us through. He had three handlers all swarming him and it’s no wonder the guy appears grumpy sometimes. But when I approached he looked up at me and smiled and oh he is so pretty... He says “hi” and grins and that’s the first difference from last year. So I say “Hi Jensen, how are you doing?” and he responds that he is doing great. Then he looks down at the art which has been moved over by Daniela and I tell him that I commissioned my friend to do the portrait when we heard he was going to be Bacchus and he was like “wow really? You commissioned this? It’s really good!” and he was looking at it for quite a while after he signed it, so I pulled out my spare print and said “yeah, she’s really talented and I have a spare print for you if you wanted it?” which he took and seemed really pleased and said “wow thank you so much” (or something like this remember guys my brain is MUSH after this weekend) but yes, he seemed very pleased to be getting his own print of it. Well, at this point the handler to my left is saying “thank you” quite firmly at me trying to get me to move along and literally repeating “thank you” every few seconds and is starting to piss me off, but Jensen side eyes this guy too like he is also aware that he is being rushed and finds it all rather impolite (bless him really he must put up with so much shit) but I stand my ground because I want to give him my button. So I say “one more thing really quickly, I really wanted to give you this. It’s only a little thing but I gave these to the other guys as well because I’m spreading some positivity around about the show and TFW2.0 and it means a lot to me that you know how much we love all these characters” (Or something like this - half the time I ramble I know I say something like this but probably far less articulate on the day) and he picks up the button and looks at it again for what seems like a really long time and then he looks up at me again and smiles this really nice kind of touched smile (I think, it seemed like he was touched) and he mouths “Thank you” and holds my gaze and I can’t really express exactly what it was that he was conveying in that moment but for me it was a really great moment that spoke to me quite a lot.
So all in all it was a great moment and I really hope he takes the print of Jackie’s portrait with him because no doubt Danneel would also LOVE to see it! Here’s the signed version:
Tumblr media
Basically I was totally overwhelmed by everything BUT I really enjoyed it and I can’t express enough how lovely and charming J2M were all weekend. All of them seemed really happy, refreshed, and just generally in great moods. It was a huge difference from last year.
Alex
My interaction with Alex was also really lovely and he is such a sweet guy. He scribbled all over a page of my scrapbook and I also gave him a button which he happily accepted. If you’ve had an auto with Alex you’ll know that he has this personalised “A” that he likes to draw as well as to write “Jack” next to his autograph with a backwards “k” which is adorable.
Richard Speight Jr and Rob Benedict
I have to add Rich and Rob here because I had a really good time with both of them at autos. I went to Rich first and I held out my scrapbook and told him he had a whole page to scribble whatever he wanted on. He was immediately like “oooh!” and started drawing. I spoke to him about his direction style and how I always love it when he directs because he manages to make every frame look beautiful. That 12x12 has some of the most gorgeous shot compositions especially and I really hope he keeps directing in season 15. He was really touched by what I said and was like “Really? Thank you so much!” and I said “Yes, and I’m not just saying that because you also act on the show. Seriously, you have a wonderful style and I’m looking forward to what you do next.” He smiles at me and hands me my scrapbook and says “that what you had in mind?” and I said “omg yes thank you so much!” and he laughed. This was what he did:
Tumblr media
So then I go over to Rob and I tell him the same thing, to scribble in my scrapbook. But I say “no pressure, but Rich drew me a picture.” and he says “oh nooo” and turns over the page to see what Rich drew. He laughs and faux panics like “so much pressure!” and starts scribbling. So I do my usual “talk about something that’ll interest them” because I hate standing there in silence waiting for them to sign, so I tell him that I’m really looking forward to what Chuck gets up to next in Season 15 now that he’s basically become a sadistic fanfiction writer. He laughs at that and says yes, he’s really looking forward to it because as an actor, it’s always really fun to play a different role, or look at a character from a different angle and playing the villain now is something he is really excited about because he gets to stretch his acting wings a bit. So I tell him I can’t wait to see how it all plays out and then he grins and hands me my scrapbook and I just go all gooey and say “ahh thank you so much. You win.” and he laughs and I think that pleased him. He wrote this:
Tumblr media
So yeah basically I left every single auto I had with a brain made of mush just walking on cloud 9. I haven’t even mentioned Ricky Whittle yet... that was... something. But consider that a separate post as this got long.
Basically I LOVE THIS CAST AND SHOW AND AM SO HAPPY I COULD CRY.

The villain post...is good but also I threw it in my queue with a bit of a tag-rant about why GoF Voldemort really worked for me and then realised that could probably be its own separate post and anyway: the when and how you establish a villain's threat level is also important in people's takeaway from them.
Voldemort's a vague, shadowy menace for most of the first four Harry Potter books. It works. He's a Big Bad, an outsized future fantasy threat for an outsized fantasy world our protagonist has only just dipped his toes into. While Harry's still at school and learning the ropes of the wizarding world, it makes perfect sense for him to be sort of a nebulous background threat. The moment he appears onscreen in Goblet of Fire - him, not a servant or a memory or a ghost - he kills a child. Onscreen. And not just any child, but someone we've grown to know and like and admire throughout the book. Abruptly, Voldemort goes from being sort of a fairy-tale villain to something real and shocking and very, very dangerous, before our eyes. We learn along with Harry just how heinous he is and what he's capable of.
It's not at all a coincidence that this event marks an abrupt darker tonal shift in the series, though personally I think it fell a little flat by trying to maintain the status quo and not having enough Voldemort-being-heinous-onscreen. But I'm of the opinion that villains like Voldemort who suddenly Get Real should be conserved according to the Jaws Law of Conservation of Shark, and should only really be allowed to appear onscreen/show their true threat level in the last third or quarter of the story, so you can devote significant screentime to allowing them to escalate.
Speaking of escalating, once you have your villain establish their threat level onscreen, then unless you want to use them for comedic purposes, give them a redemption arc, or both, every time the reader sees them afterwards, they need to be taking it up a notch. Every time the audience sees that villain, they're going to think they know what that villain is capable of, which lowers the fear factor and the threat level in the audience's mind. In order to keep that threat high, you have to remind the audience, every time they see the villain, that they do not in fact have a handle on the situation, and things could always get worse.
So, again, for a villain like Voldemort who suddenly Gets Real, it makes the most sense to have him Get Real closer to the end of the story, so there isn't much escalation necessary before the resolution. Otherwise, there's a risk of the villain getting silly and comedic in the opposite direction of the villain who never escalates.
I'm thinking specifically of Phineas & Ferb vs. Supernatural here. The former has Heinz Doofenschmirtz, who is a comedic character partly because we the audience know the true threat level he's capable of and he never rises above it. This is also what the principle of Weird Villain Uncle is based on, where an entry-level villain doesn't stop being a threat but never escalates above the level he was at when the heroes were still green and didn't know how to deal with him. As the heroes grow, he seems like less and less of a threat in comparison, especially if he never comes up with anything new and worse. The latter...well, the longer SPN goes on, the less it seems to know how not to escalate its threats out of all scale and proportion, and the humour mostly appears to be unintentional.
For some things, too, establishing the villain as a real and serious threat right out the gate is necessary, so escalation runs the risk of sending them into unintentional comedy territory. That's where I'd say the ideas of scale and proportion come in.
If, say, you're trying to establish a character as a formidable villain from the jump in a fun neon eighties nihilist cartoon-action-fest, having her first onscreen appearance be stopping an unstoppable force and destroying an indestructible object gives that immediate, visceral 'oh SHIT' reaction, and can easily and proportionally be escalated to singlehandedly taking out an army of trained soldiers and literally raising the dead. (This does, admittedly, also rely on a healthy dose of PRESENTATION!!!) On the other hand, if you're working on a serious war drama, your initial threat assessment is going to have to be a little more within the realm of actual human abilities, and your steps of escalation are going to have to be smaller and closer together - say, from shooting a dog to starving a prisoner to straight-up treachery.
In cases where a villain has to be kept closer to realistic, I've found it also helps to make their escalations more and more personal to the protagonist. Circling back to Harry Potter, the previous post mentioned Umbridge as an example of a great villain. And she is! A lot of that is that her heinousness is mostly onscreen. But unlike Voldemort, she never kills anyone onscreen, and yet she's almost universally more hated.
Part of that is, I think, like the OP of the previous post said, because of how many people can relate to having an antagonist like that in their own lives. But I think part of it is also how each step of her escalation is aimed so directly and personally at the protagonist we're supposed to sympathise with. Voldemort feeds a Muggle Studies professor we've never met or encountered to his snake onscreen. That's heinous. That's escalation. And yet, because it's targeted so directly against a personal weakness of a character we're meant to sympathise with and have become attached to over the course of five books, Umbridge forcing Harry to write lines with the quill that carves up the back of his hand produces the more visceral reaction in me as a reader.
Anyway. tl;dr: unless you want them to look ineffective and silly, villains need to escalate. Unless you want them to look unintentionally silly, villains need to escalate proportionally to the story they're in and the abilities of the protagonist they're facing. And if you want to do a sudden tonal shift to bring the horror home, have them escalate Real Fast.

PHOTO OPS
Let’s take a break from Sabriel week lol. My jpegs came in today and I thought I would talk about my photo op experience and show them to y'all. Uhh, this is I guess what the average first time con goer experiences (minus my height lol). I realized I make the same face in every pic, that’s my jhflkjsdfhkasjhdf smile XD I put them under a cut so you don't have to see them if you don't want to :)
Tumblr media
It’s R2M!! Get it?? Ok, so this was the first one I took. My first contact with any of the spn cast. I remember the lady had a lot of trouble scanning my ticket cause she said I was shaking 😅. Anyways, when I saw them in line, I was just like AHHHHHHHHH. Then I walked up to them and I said, can I just have a huggggg?? I made a live post about the aftermath of the picture lol.
Tumblr media
I'll be honest with you. I remember absolutely nothing about this one. I must have been in a daze I have no idea. But I remember picking it up afterwards and just being like, GOD HIS FACE IS ADORABLE. Yeah, I really like it.
Tumblr media
Ok, I do remember this one. I split it with one of my roommates. I was waiting in line with her and all I could see was like, Misha's torso and I was freaking out. He also had these awesome red shoes on. Anyways, we got up and she explained what we were doing (I have no idea what she said, I think my mind was like MISHAAAAA) then we took the picture. As we were walking away she was like, they smelled good. Then it was like my senses came back and I realized Misha did smell good. When we picked it up I had no idea that Misha had his arms like that- it was a pleasant surprise.
Tumblr media
I also have this from the Dick chat. I wasn't dressed the best lol. But this is the only one I have with Rich in glasses GAH. Also he looks a lot shorter here I'm not sure what's happening 😅 Gosh I'm love his face 😭
Tumblr media
Last one. Aww he also looks tiny in this one. I was thinking about not sharing, but he looks really good so I have to XD (I didn't get the jpeg, sry my pic is crappy) Let this one be a learning moment. I freaking panicked, it was Sunday night, and I was tired, in this dress and yeah. I have noooo idea what I'm doing, all I have is this stupid lollipop. I see everyone doing the like, classy ooh la la poses, but I can't do that looool. So I get up to him, like thrust the lollipop at him, and go -I have this but I don't know what to doooooo. Then I think I made Rich panic. I'M SORRY 😭😅 Then I like, immediately feel bad, we take the picture and I'm 😬 OH I remember he said “Brilliant” afterwards, like, I was already too far gone, but bless you for trying Rich. He makes that lollipop look good though, so I'll take it XD. My advice- plan out your ops.

I can't help but think about Bellarke sex scenes in the future... like I read so much smut that I try to imagine how it will happen. How do you think it will happen (the filming, lightning, dialogue and characters behavior ect) ? My kink : C straddling B
it took me two reads to realize you were talking about actual canon bellarke. i’ve been in queerbaity slash fandom for so long (spn, sherlock) that i forget major ships do go canon sometimes.
so the sex scenes we have to go on are thus (iirc):
bellamy and raven, s1 – bossy raven, surprised (but not deterred) bellamy, no-strings-attached banging it out. shirtless bellamy, standing kiss only
bellamy and echo, s5 – more standing shirtless kissing, a lot of Established Relationship/reunion ~emotion
clarke and finn, s1 – i can’t even remember this one? it was in the weird bunker thing. i remember some making out and fooling around and not much else
clarke and lexa, s3 – post-coital naked bedtime shenanigans. here 4 that.
clarke and niylah, s3 – suuuper toppy clarke/wanheda, no strings attached. honestly, decent sex scene to open s3 with
THAT SAID, we’ve had blueballs over this pairing for five IRL years and 133 canon years, so i would EXPECT a little bit MORE. (god help us if this were on HBO?? we would get bellarke softcore porn and i’d have an aneurysm)
we have a strong pattern of standing shirtless kissing, lying on beds of furs (who knows what the new planet will have??), post-almost-dying impassioned kissing, trapped-in-small-spaces, aaaaand post-coital fingers tracing over skin.
so it would STAND to REASON that A Big Thing will happen, which will prompt b and c to KISS, and then each will be totally taken aback by it (did we really do that? did that actually happen??) and then immediately interrupted by someone saying “it’s about time!” followed A Bigger Thing Happening, which will SEPARATE THEM for X amount of time, hopefully no longer than an episode, but WHO KNOWS with evil jroth and his new writers room. then they will return together, either or both BATTERED and BLOODY, and there will be a solid amount of HURT/COMFORT a la s1 with c tending to b’s wounds, with an awkward “haha so hey we kissed earlier remember that?” and b will give his small amused lil smile and his gruff deep voice that gets deeper every season and by this point it will just be the sound of a truck driving over gravel and he will say “yeah we did, didn’t we?” and c will brush it off and occupy herself with Something Over There and b will stand up SLOWLY, wincing in PAIN, and GENTLY TOUCH HER ELBOW and she will TURN TO HIM and they will KISS AGAIN. i imagine them in some kind of bunker-like small room with a conveniently placed cot. and one small kiss will become a VERY DEEP KISS COMPRISED OF ALL THEIR TENSION OVER 133 YEARS. c will take off b’s shirt – he will hiss in pain, for his wounds are many – and she will say sorry and he will give his lil amused smile and say “it’s ok” and they will proceed to DISROBE EACH OTHER and at this point b will say “are we really doing this?” and c, breathless, will give a lil nod and go “yeah, we are” and THEN she’ll push him down to the cot and straddle him.
i’m not done
so AFTERWARD they will be NAKEDLY TOUCHING EACH OTHER, c in the crook of b’s shoulder gently trailing her fingers over his skin (and dear god if jroth keeps making him wax his chest i’m gonna DIE, LET BELLAMY HAVE CHEST HAIR 2K19 FFS), and she’ll say “does this change anything?” and b will go, “maybe, but maybe that’s a problem for later,” and the scene ENDS that’s IT and NOTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED bc i don’t like being HAPPY

Notes on SPN 14.02
So! I saw 14.01 yesterday, which was for the most part, surprisingly, a blast, and since I have a bit of free time today I thought I’d keep a hold of the momentum and watch and liveblog 14.02 as well. I’ve heard it’s one of those Buckleming plot-a-paloozas, but I’ll try my best to provide semi-reasonable commentary instead of incoherent ranting.
Right. As always, typing this post up as I watch. SPOILERS for the episode ahead.
1. We start with a recap of last season’s finale, and Show, do you really want to remind us this many times about that wire-fight?
1.25. Show’s lore regarding possession has been dizzyingly inconsistent, but the more I think about it, the less sense it makes to me that Nick is alive? Because Nick couldn’t actually house Lucifer for very long in s5—he was deteriorating, which was why Lucifer needed Sam so urgently. The last we saw of Nick, he was dead/dying in a dingy room in Detroit, when Lucifer jumped ship to Sam. Even if Lucifer assumed Nick’s visage in the Cage and afterwards when he was brought back, Nick-the-person with Nick-memories and Nick-feelings isn’t there anymore.
1.255. So what does this mean? Like, if this was explained away sometime over the last two seasons--I’m very sorry, I really wasn’t paying a lot of attention to large chunks of them—please let me know. If there’s no explanation, then has Lucifer disappeared inside a Nick-construct? Did he use a loophole to escape the worst of the Archangel Blade right at the moment Dean plunged it into his side? Lucifer was “human” for a while in s13, iirc. Did he have enough “human” to hide behind and recover? And has he filled that human with the memories/personality of one of the humans he knew best? Is it because he spent centuries assuming Nick’s body in the Cage that he’s most comfortable being him here?
… I don’t know. Maybe I’m missing something obvious, but, hey, it’s fun to speculate.
2. We start off with people artfully tied up in an artfully derelict church illuminated artfully by artful lightning.
… *groans* I hope we aren’t getting a torture scene already.
2.25. Well, Michael’s certainly chirpier than he was last episode.
2.5. Is he trying to make new angel minions, is that it, by feeding them blood and his grace? Leaving aside the lack of creativity in the mechanism, the whole thing kind of makes a weird sense. Michael is looking for those with purity of purpose—among religious leaders (and refugees, apparently), angels, and then finally monsters—and rejecting those ‘poisoned’ by nuance and experience and supposed sin. After all, no being whose wants are even slightly more complex than ‘food’ is going to be a perfect follower.
It also plays into his assholey, self-righteous personality and, well, god-complex.
(Dean would’ve appreciated this quest for pure purpose.)
3. There’s a kind of sitcom-y vibe to this little expository scene: Bobby talks shit about angels only for Castiel to walk in with a quirked eyebrow; the group talks about Jack and Lucifer only for Jack to walk in and go, “hey, you talkin bout my father again?”
(these are the tiny ways I feel SPN is at cross-purposes with its own theme of ‘found family’. Everybody’s obsessed with blood relations, to the point that Lucifer and Jack are constantly referred to as ‘father and son’ when there is no need to bring that relationship up. Last year, even Castiel referred to Jack while talking to Lucifer as ‘your son’ without any prompting from Satan. Words are so powerful, and so revealing.)
3.45. Castiel “as you know, Bob”-ing is hilarious. Oh, Buckleming.
3.5. Um, not to dismiss or compare Castiel’s considerable trauma at the hands of Lucifer, but is anybody going to acknowledge even once that Sam, who appears to have taken the brunt of caring for Nick so far, is also going to have trouble looking into his abuser’s face??
4. Nick continues to make no sense to me.
(I like little touches like Castiel telling him that he needs to remind himself to eat.)
4.5. I kinda like this scene, sue me. It makes sense to me that Nick would obsess over and over again about how he could’ve let himself say yes to Lucifer, although Lucifer is as old as time and had all the power in that situation. The ‘monster’ bit is a little too on-the-nose for me, but I like it. Really drives home what an intimate, horrifying violation possession is and how scarred and twisted it can leave the survivor who spirals down a well of undeserved guilt and self-loathing.
I wish Sam was the one talking to him now, or was at least present. He’d talked in the previous scene about how Nick was only ‘housing’ and deserved a chance to rebuild his life, and that hard-earned generosity of spirit would’ve been a balm to all three of them, I think.
5. ETA on the TOD, Bobby? *sporfle* Seriously though, I love this role-reversal: usually it’s Bobby who’s rolling his eyes at SamnDean’s eff-bee-eye shenanigans.
5.25. Ah, but where this Bobby has become an expert now is in telling the difference between smiting patterns!
5.5. I wonder if trying to appear non-threatening is just Sam’s default whenever he meets with, uh, ‘civilians’.
6. I really, honestly hate that the Bunker just happens to have ‘lore books’ on whatever the hell random question they’re having that day. I just kinda hate the Bunker in general, now that I think about it.
6.25. But doesn’t that ‘human component’ (lol) make a Nephilim strong enough to take down even archangels?
6.5. As pep talks go, that wasn’t bad. A few notes:
a) there’s an earnestness to the words that I’m sure that Castiel learned from Sam.
b) I think this is the first time that Castiel—or anybody—has referred to the events of 8.23 as “The Great Fall”. It’s interesting that it’s already gotten a name among angelkind and that Castiel would call it that, given how close he was to the events that led to it.
c) I want to both laugh and cry at Castiel’s assertion that Sam and Dean were there for him after he lost his grace. He was mostly left to fend for himself, obviously, but there’s no space for that in a pep talk.
d) Sometimes it’s easy to forget that Jack is actually just only a year old. Asking him not to dwell on something so… immediate is a tall ask.
7. Ok, so that was a nice snappy little counterpart to Lucifer-talking-to-Sam-in-the-mirror from the s5 finale. I like how Michael is blunt and matter-of-fact while Lucifer relished in the moment, bragged about how he’d had Sam’s number all his life, and seduced him with violent revenge. This is nice.
I don’t know, guys, I’m really enjoying this episode so far!
8. Sooooo Lucifer is residing in some subconscious layer of Nick’s mind? Is this PTSD shaped by his possession? Is Lucifer bleeding through his own construct? Are we going to find that it was actually Nick who killed his own family? (I think we are.)
8.2. Castiel looking for residual Lucifer in Nick reminds me of when he was doing the same for Sam re: Gadreel, and that reminds me of Dean’s ‘teen mom’ joke from that episode and now I’m pissed off.
8.5. Nick is fascinating, but is he fascinating enough that I care about his little revenge sub-plot? Eh. Jury’s out. Plus I just can’t stand the actor anymore
9. Sam’s just kinda there to move the plot along. Give him some more character moments, episode!
10. Michael reminded me of Dean in the scene with the werewolf. I’m really not getting a capital P personality from Michael, though that may be due to a personal choice. Or maybe because Michael was never a distinct character to begin with, and this is far more noticeable when Ackles plays it and ‘Dean’ threatens to take over any minute.
Or going meta for a second—maybe Michael’s deliberately infusing some Dean into his persona. Possession isn’t simply putting a thing inside a box: both entities are influenced and informed by the other, but only one has all the power.
11. … ok, so my interest in this Nick subplot is rapidly decaying. Nick did it. He killed his family. It’s not a mystery.
11.5. The emotional dynamics of this scene… checks out, actually. Of course Nick is projecting all his rage on Castiel. And of course Castiel regrets destroying Jimmy Novak’s life the most. More than toeing the party line and being instrumental in almost bringing the Apocalypse about in s4; more than releasing the Leviathan; more than trusting Metatron in s8; more than killing his brethren, who’ve tortured him back and tried to kill him on more than one occasion. But Castiel has been both angel and human—both possessing and being possessed—long enough that he’s intimately aware of the devastation it leaves both within and without. And there are no excuses for the way he and other angels have done that damage—so carelessly, so casually. Even the most well-intentioned angels are deceptive and manipulative and give not a second thought about their hapless vessels. It’s a sign of Castiel’s growth and compassion that he recognises his responsibility in this and that he invokes Jimmy’s name with both reverence and regret. In all this shouting and crying that Show doesn’t acknowledge the deep-seated trauma of possession survivors, this is actually a great moment.
12. That werewolf leader looks familiar. Has the actor been on SPN before? He kinda reminds me of one of the leads on Suits.
12.5. That’s a lot of clunky dialogue, but Michael is basically confirming what I speculated in point 2. Cool.
13. How Jack managed to get away and find his grandparents is never explained, but that’s a familiar Buckleming trope—characters are put together in a scene without any regard to how it might connect to other scenes or how/why those characters might’ve gotten there.
13.2. That said, it’s kinda poignant that Jack, having lost his angelic powers, is now trying to understand the human side of his heritage. He’s trying his best to adapt to his situation; this one year old kid is more well-adjusted than most of the adults on this show.
13.5. Well, holy shit, Jack talking about Kelly to his grandparents is just… making me feel emotional in a way this show hasn’t made me feel in a long, long time. This Calvert kid is good.
13.6. It is bizarre that Kelly’s parents are mostly ok with not knowing Kelly’s whereabouts for over a year—I don’t think we ever found out what position exactly Kelly held in the President’s office, and I can picture them in a bit of denial by telling themselves the reason they haven’t heard from Kelly is because she is in the middle of super-secret government work. I don’t know! But it’s just about handwave-able though, and their scene with Jack is worth it.
14. Honestly, Castiel, how did he travel so far and for so long without you noticing? So much for “Don’t worry, Sam, I will babysit this defenceless creature.”
(Speaking of Sam, wheeeerrreee’s Saaaaammmm)
“I suppose there are worse ways to be human than to be kind.”
“Have you heard from Sam?”
I LOVE YOU, JACK.
14.5. No, actually, Dean wouldn’t want it any other way. He said as much when Gadreel took over Sam completely back in s9.
15. Shoo, Nick.
16. FINALLY MORE SAM. With only like 4 minutes of episode left. What, Show, did you think you spoiled us too much last episode with all that glorious, glorious Sam content?
16.25. And finally a bit of action! The rapid-fire editing is making my head hurt, though.
16.5. Soooooooooooooo Dean’s back? Obviously Michael is playing a long game here, but it says something about the show that they can’t keep Dean away for more than two episodes without getting the shakes. I honestly miss Sera Gamble and her desire to rattle the status quo: in s6, she kept the so-called ‘real’ Sam away for half the season, which gave us imo some of the best storytelling, characterisation and acting from both Padalecki and Ackles in the entire show. In s7 she took away all the Winchester markers: the Impala, weird motel rooms, Bobby’s house. Of course, after she left the show settled back into a familiar rut (substituting Bobby’s house with that thrice-damned Bunker). I wish the show would take risks with these two again. s9 and the beginning of s10 were so very promising but there was no follow-through.
I guess they want to MotW fillers for a few episodes and that would be weird without SamnDean SamnDeaning it in the Impala, but Show, why don’t you just say ‘fuck it’ and try weird on for size? What do you have to lose? I mean, seriously?
17. Nick’s the murderer—called it!
18. This wasn’t terrible, you guys. 95% of the episode was just people sitting around having conversations, the dialogue was clunky, ideas derivative, scenes progressed without any rational links between them, the pacing was wonky, and there was too much exposition. But the emotional beats were solid and the set up is reasonably intriguing. I’ve seen far, far worse BuckLeming episodes.
Pacing is a real issue in this season, though. And Michael is not remotely intimidating as a threat.

My first SPN meta
Hi SPN family! This is my first attempt at writing meta (or something a little bit like it). Actually I've never posted anything on tumblr before. But 13x01 was so inspiring that I thought I'd like to share some of my meta ideas. Hope you like them!
SPOILERS AHEAD!
Sooooo, this meta post will be about Dean's grief in 13x01 and parallels to other SPN episodes(God 13x01/John Winchester 1x09 and Jack 13x01/Cass 4x01).
We can see Dean grieving right from the beginning. But of course Mr "sublimation" Winchester deals with his emotions in his own way. Instead of breaking down after losing Cass, his Mom and Crowley, he focuses on fighting, because that's something he can handle and have control over. So he gets up from beside Cass's body, walks into the house and shoots at Jack the moment he sees him. Turning his grief into anger is a way of coping that has worked before for Dean. We have seen this many times, for example in season 10, right after he had been cured from being a demon or when Cass was sort of missing in season 12 (there are tons of other examples). He needs something to fight and punch in order to (not) deal with his feelings.
After that, when Jack is in the wind, Dean restores to another coping mechanism: praying. When he gets no answer from Chuck he smashes the sign on the door, bloodying his hand in the proces. Imo he does this because of the same reasons people who hurt themselves do similar things: he needs to feel physical pain in order to deal with his internal/emotional pain. And he doesn't really care about himself or his body. He needs to let some of his frustration out and feel the pain in order to gain some sort of control over his feelings. Of course Dean doesn't want to talk about what happened to his hand afterwards (although Sam would probably draw the right conclusions). In that scene the writers gave us "soon to be angel-lady" (I forgot her name) to tell us about Dean's feelings: "he's super sensitive". Dean doesn't often show his feelings in front of others, even Sam only gets a few glimpses now and then. At this point the viewer hasn't seen the prayer-scene yet, so Dean's feelings become textual through what another person says about him.
Another thing that struck me as interesting concerning "showing Dean's emotions from the outside" was, when at the funeral pyre, Dean's many injuries can be seen, highlighted by the orange light coming from the fire. Sam was beaten up by an angel just like Dean, but we see no remaining injuries. Imo Dean's injured face is shown in order for the viewer to see that he's hurt - but not only from the outside, also from the inside. Something that isn't visible because of Dean's habit of not letting his feelings surface (<-- see what I did there? 😉) becomes visible for the viewers.
Of course there are many other scenes in this episode which deal with Dean's grief, but those I mentioned appeared special to me.
Now to parallels with other episodes: I noticed parallels to 1x09 "Home" and to 4x01 "Lazarus rising".
1x09: When Dean went behind the fast food restaurant in 13x01 I was instantly reminded of the scene in "Home" where Dean walks around the corner and calls his dad, because he needs his help and doesn't know what to do in an emotionally draining and difficult situation. This parallel is done brilliantly. In 13x01 Dean calls a father figure (God/Chuck) and prays for help in a hopeless situation. This could also be some kind of foreshadowing. When Dean called his Dad in 1x09 he also didn't get an immediate answer, just like God doesn't answer him right away in 13x01, but his Dad sort of came to help him and Sam just a short time later. Could this also be true for Chuck in season 13? Imo God could turn up soon in one form or another and help Dean and Sam because of this parallel to John Winchester. And of course this could lead directly to Cass's resurrection...
4x01: Another parallel can be found between Cass and Jack if we compare some imagery from "Lazarus rising" to "Lost and found". When Jack hears the angel radio in 13x01, he walks through the police office, sparks fliying from the lamps on the ceiling. Just like when Cass first entered the barn in 4x01. Then Jack also gets stabbed in the chest just like Cass in the barn and both survive the wound inflicted by weapons which are usually deadly to many monsters/angels. So Jack mirrors Cass, which could be interesting for Jack's future character development. With Cass we saw that not every angel is automatically a "good being", just because they're an angel. Cass did evil things despite having good reasons for doing them. Maybe the viewers will get tp see that Jack isn't neccessarily evil, just because he's the spawn of Lucifer and he is capable of doing good things despite being an "evil being". Sort of a reversed mirror maybe.
All right, that's it, even though there are many more interesting parallels and imagery in 13x01. Maybe I'll write some more soon 😊
Bye!
