The official translation for Kunigami's panel is pretty close to what PO2 scans went with. He's described as a catalyst though, versus PO2's someone "designed to raise the level of the other unpolished gems". While the wording is more vague, we can still interpret this to mean Kunigami's acting on Ego's orders rather than participating willingly in the NEL. His purpose isn't to secure a high bid for his own sake—it's to have an effect on others. 🥲
