words that are hard to swallow
rated: teen | @steddieholidaydrabbles prompt: christmas tags: modern au, christmas gifts, birthday gifts, accidental come ons read on ao3
Tumblr media
Steve doesn't know what to get for Eddie for Christmas so he finds an Etsy shop that does custom candles where you can choose the scent and the message on the candle.
Steve puts in the order note that he’s getting this for someone that probably likes woodsy scents and that the message can be the seller’s choice.
He doesn't look at it before wrapping it because it gets to him a day late in the mail, on Christmas Eve when everyone is exchanging gifts, and he barely has time to wrap it before he leaves to meet everyone for dinner.
Everyone exchanges gifts around the tree after dinner and Eddie pauses for a really long moment when he gets to Steve's gift and it makes him nervous.
Does he not like the scent? A candle seemed like a generic gift that anyone would like, but maybe Eddie is particular about his scents.
A minute passes and then Eddie leans over to say, “We should probably talk later,” before putting the candle back in its box.
Steve follows Eddie to his place after dinner, wondering the entire time if he somehow mortally offended him and when they get inside, he asks, “Did you not like it?”
Eddie says, “I mean, it was a weird time to give that to me, don't you think?”
Steve is confused. A weird time to give him a candle?
Eddie sees his confusion and says, “You have no idea what it says, do you?”
Steve shakes his head. “I told the Etsy shop to surprise me.”
Eddie laughs. “Oh, you’ll be surprised alright.”
He takes the candle out of the box and turns it around.
It reads Light me when you want a BJ.
Steve is obviously mortified.
When he goes back to it later, the Etsy listing was apparently for “Candles for Him, Husband, Boyfriend, 18+ Messages.” He thought it meant there were over 18 messages to choose from.
He sighs and vows to pay closer attention to the listing next time.
The next time he needs a gift for Eddie is his birthday and he really does mean to pick his gift up earlier because he’s known for a while what he wanted to get him. But he lost track of time and then suddenly Eddie’s sending him a reminder about his birthday dinner and Steve still hasn't gotten the gift.
He heads to Target hoping and praying the Lego set Eddie mentioned a few months ago is in stock.
He finds it, luckily, and heads to the card aisle, but he’s pressed for time, so he just grabs one in the birthday section and hopes the message doesn't have anything age specific in it.
The cashier rings him up and places the card face down on the envelope, asking if he wants it in the bag.
He says no and asks if she has a pen because he doesn't have one in his car.
He grabs the pen from her and writes Hope you have a great birthday! on the inside, shoving it into the envelope and into the bag before taking his credit card out of the reader.
He rushes out of the store and is only a few minutes late to dinner.
He tells Eddie he’ll give him his gift at his apartment since he forgot to get a gift bag, so he meets Eddie at his apartment afterwards and brings the Target bag inside.
Eddie is appropriately surprised and happy, wrapping Steve up in a hug when he sees what’s inside the bag.
“You wanna help me put this together?” Eddie asks, and Steve says yes because that’s also part of why he wanted to give it to Eddie here.
They start putting together the set, the Bomber Starfighter, and it takes hours to get even halfway through, so they call it a night and agree to finish it tomorrow.
When Steve shows up a few hours before his shift the next day to finish it, Eddie opens the door with an envelope in his hand—his card must have fallen to the bottom of the bag when they took the Lego set out.
“So I don't know if this was a ‘haha remember the weird candle I accidentally bought’ thing or a come on, but I nearly choked on my coffee this morning when I found this,” Eddie says, letting Steve inside.
“Oh fuck, what does it say?” Steve asks, cringing.
Eddie turns and looks at him. “No fucking way this was an accident. I’d buy that it was a gag card, but there’s no way you picked this up by accident.”
“I was running late and didn't have time to read through the cards in Target. I just went with one that looked plain and simple,” he says.
Eddie hands him the card.
On the front, it says I LOVE YOU FOR YOUR PERSONALITY, BUT THAT D*CK IS A REALLY NICE BONUS.
“Jesus christ,” Steve says. “Why did Target even have this card?”
Eddie snorts. “Either the universe is trying to tell us something or you have supremely bad luck, my friend.”
Steve looks at him and hesitantly says, “Maybe it’s both?”
Eddie looks taken aback. “Yeah?” he asks with a shy smile.
Steve runs a hand through his hair. “I dunno. I was… thinking about it after the last time, with the candle.”
“Thinking about…?” Eddie trails off, looking at Steve's lips, his eyes going dark.
Steve nods, biting his lip.
Eddie takes a step closer and says, “I don't know if you realized, but I lit that candle last night before you got here. It was burning while we were building the Lego set.”
Steve's breath comes a little bit quicker. “I didn't notice that, no.”
“Do you want me to light it again?” Eddie whispers and Steve doesn't even have to think about it before he nods.
They don't end up getting around to building the rest of the Lego set that day.

Why I Ship Sonic The Hedgehog and Amy Rose?
Hi! I’ve been a Sonic fan since 2022 and wanted to give insight on a beloved pairing from someone who’s only FRESH in this fandom. So I could give a somewhat recent perspective on something others might’ve grown up with.
Disclaimer: This is just my merriment of cartoon madness. Done for fun. It has my everywhere all at once speculations, and opinions. Spat into one big MESS. No problem if you disagree. I wish you all the best in whatever you create with your preferred take on these characters.
I take 0 credit for anything displayed in visuals.
Now, let’s get started!
Reason 1: What Got Me Into Sonamy
I want to recommend people who not only helped me understand the dynamic better, but did so while giving good insight on Amy’s character. Which is one of the most inconsistent in the
ENTIRE franchise. Here they are! In no particular order.
Why Amy is a “Strong Female Character” [Sonic The Hedgehog Video Essay]
Channel: Taro Marshmallow on YouTube.
She helped me understand Amy’s character as a whole. I believe it’s important for people to comprehend Amy’s character in order for them to understand or like Sonamy. No one has to, but it sure was eye-opening for me. So, do of it what you will. I advise people to give it a watch for the AMAZING character analysis alone.
Molinaskies: On Tumblr, this person goes into serious analysis on Sonic’s emotional characterization, and Sonamy too. Words can’t describe how much I appreciate this ship the more I read about their dynamic from someone I can tell has fun doing it.
Sherrydoodlez: This person is the reason I became a Sonic and Sonamy fan at the same time. Once I saw her videos, I was HOOKED. She makes cute, fun, and outstanding Sonamy content on her YouTube channel. It’s mostly Boom!Sonamy animations with voice actors on some occasions. She makes other random Sonic animations as well. It’s a feel good channel you can watch to calm yourself as you head into a romantic cafe of servings you never knew you needed. Give her content a watch. It’s a jolly ride.
Tumblr media
IDW (Specifically Issue #2 Page 21): I believe this is the statement which changed Sonic’s view about Amy. At the beginning, the blue blur was still on the run when Amy came around. But after fighting robots together and helping the villagers, Sonic admitted having fun. It could mean he grew more comfortable. Or just loves to fight robots regardless of who’s joining him.
Afterwards, Amy realized their negotiation about Sonic coming back to the resistance was a loss. She happily accepted it and accepted Sonic for who he is. Which made the feelings mutual on Sonic’s part in my opinion. He was even bashful while offering her to join him. Showing he didn’t mind having Amy around a bit longer. I know someone else stated this better, but I hope you get the point.
Sonamy is also the one ship that gets the most hints and jokes. From official writers, voice actors, (ESPECIALLY in Japan. Sonic and Amy’s VAs literally sung a love song IN CHARACTER for crying out loud.) X, Boom, Prime, artist, some of the games, and Sega themselves with their marketing.
Fact check me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure in Japan, Amy’s been called Sonic’s “Girlfriend,” plenty of times and some even theorize they're already together in the Japanese version of Sonic Frontiers.
(Which I’m positive is very intentional)
Can’t forget the creator of the characters Naoto Oshima stated on twitter, “Sonic has the eternal heart of a boy, but were he to one day mature, he’d choose Amy.” I believe if any ship in this franchise at least makes the most since, it’s Sonamy. I’m only scratching the surface, but we’d be here forever if I continued.
Tumblr media
Reason 2: The Dynamic
I believe Sonamy works romantically and platonically. Sonic and Amy are best friends so their bond is already close in that regard. I think in times of peace they hang out. Which has been shown in IDW in the retail incentive covers of issue 1, 5th Anniversary.
Tumblr media
The reason I think Amy’s the best choice for Sonic is because she can always keep up with him. She understands him and reads him like a book.
(Sonic doesn’t express himself very well, so that’d be a huge benefit.)
She brings an array of emotion out of him, and accepts him for who he is.
Amy wouldn’t slow him down because they’re relationship wouldn’t change at all. She’s always just as down for going out and exploring as he is. Being a hot-head, she’s not adverse for a bit of head busting with her hammer. Amy allows Sonic for a chance at a relationship he couldn’t get inattentive or tired in.
They’d go on their usual adventurers and might only tell a few friends about their relationship.
(Or keep it a secret)
After that, they’d travel together or Amy would leave Sonic to whatever he needed to do. In Sonic’s case, he would appreciate Amy’s understanding and return the favor by giving her flowers. Maybe even show minimal affection.
Like in Sonic X when he gives Amy a rose in episode 52. X also had moments where Sonic constantly protects/holds onto her. Not to mention willingly laid on a pile of hey next to Amy. And kept the bracelet she made him in episode 9.
Tumblr media
Sonic X isn’t canon, but IDW has moments of Sonic hanging out or fighting alongside Amy too. Point is, the couple would be an updated version of their friendship. A “POWER COUPLE,” to be specific.
Romance doesn’t always mean you have to be lovey-dovey. You can treat your partner like a best friend as well. Sonic and Amy have a unique relationship because they’re subtle about it.
Reason 3: Why?
I believe it’s important to get this out of the way since these are my weird BIGGIES when it comes to shipping. Why Sonic might have a crush on Amy and why Amy loves Sonic?
Sonic’s (Alleged) Reasons: Amy doesn’t want to change him. She can keep up with him. She’s super compassionate and energetic.
(Sonic stated she was “sweet’ before.)
He respects and might even values her ways of thinking. In TMOSTH, he said:
Tumblr media
In Prime he admits she’s, “Pretty great.”
And, he said in IDW Issue #58:
Tumblr media
These can be seen as platonic compliments, but it’s the “Accepting Sonic for who he is” thing that homes in the mutual romantic feelings head-canon.
I’d even argue ever since Unleashed/Black Night he had a little crush on her, but felt unsure of it. That is, until IDW. He might still have no clue what to do next.
Sonic lines in Frontiers : “Amy, I should’ve made up my mind sooner.” and “Wish we were sharing an umbrella, Amy.” are huge examples of that and his reciprocated feelings.
Fun Fact: Sharing an umbrella as a couple in Japan is considered a romantic expression, and teens often draw an umbrella with their name and the name of their crush, the way one would in a heart. A very old tradition.
Sharing an umbrella has been seen as a romantic thing in a few American movies as well.
Here’s another detail I find hilarious. I LOVE in instances like Amy being, “The Lady Of The Lake” in Black Night. The time she ran away from Sonic in Unleashed, and became split versions of herself in Prime. The blue buffoon acts as if he grew more fond and I’d even suggest “attracted” to her. He either flirts with her or gets disappointed. To me, it’s a check on the, “Bringing a wide range of emotion out of him,” point.
Tumblr media
In issue #2 of IDW it’s similar. Sonic asked Amy to join him. Then she admits being away from the resistance for too long. I’d say it’s a weirdly consistent thing. The times Sonic acts ready to “open up,” he and Amy end up having to save the world and go off to do their own thing.
(That panel in The Metal Virus with Sonic reaching to Amy while she’s freaking out, still hurts.)
Is this a sign they may need to take their time? Fortunately, we have additional content with them interacting outside those situations. I guess the hedgies are allowing each other to be their own person before committing to anything.
Like a “when they know, they’ll know,” situation.
Last thing. Sonic hugs Amy in both IDW and Frontiers. Never happened in official canon before, so his feelings must’ve changed into something.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amy’s Reasons: He’s her inspiration and motive for loving adventures. Sonic gives Amy an excuse to show off her skills. And she admires his personality.
By the way, can we just appreciate how Amy loves Sonic for the right reasons? Not looks, popularity, or fortune. He always and forever will be her number one.
Reason 4: Conclusion
This isn’t everything, but I’m sure new content will give me new reasons to love this pair. I just wanted to take MOST of what’s already established and use it for a basic understanding.
As basic as overwhelmingly extra can be.
I don’t know whether or not Sonamy will be canon and that’s fine. To me, it’s semi cannon already and there’s a bunch of talented people who create Sonamy stories.
In actual media, their relationships grows stronger and stronger. Which I’ll dub, “Untouched reciprocation,” which is common in videos game ships.
I see Amy and Sonic as best friends with crushes on each other and find that very fascinating. The hedgehogs can just be.
Though on twitter in February 2023, someone asked about Sonic and Amy’s relationship. Then Mario Kishimoto (The director of Sonic Frontiers ) answered, “Sonic is single. But what about a lover? What about Amy? I’m also looking forward to seeing what kind of love Sonic will have in the future.”
Doesn’t prove much, but it could mean Sonic Team is interested in developing this relationship more. Whatever that indicates, I’m intrigued.
All in all this is why I love Sonamy. Hope you enjoyed my over analyzed essay

• Jason would be happily surprised by finding you in the situation you’re in and wouldn’t be embarrassed or withdrawn from it at all. If anything, he’d have a boost of confidence from it and have an excuse to tease you in the moment and provide whatever you may want from him, that’s if you allow him to.
• He’d be very amused by watching you and would take pleasure in keeping you going while he continues to watch after finding you in such a predicament. Once this happens the first time, it may even become a regular and mutual thing once you’re both comfortable with one another in this way.
• Jason definitely teases you about this in the future, both in private and public. Luckily, he’s more discreet about such jokes when others are around but because you know what he’s joking about it does often leave you flustered and embarrassed about the conversation.
• Jason watches you until he can’t anymore and has to take part himself; this usually doesn’t take long as he doesn’t have a lot of self-restraint regarding you. However, he would try his best to make the show go on for as long as possible and may even take control without needing to do much to you during this whole event.
• If Jason found you doing this while wearing his coat then he’d completely lose it. He wouldn’t be able to stop himself from taking over and would have a lovely reminder of you every time he wore his coat again afterwards (he may even ask you to wear it more often for the familiarity of you that it gives).

ATLA Live Action Episode 6: Overall Thoughts.
I have mixed feelings about this one. It made the least changes from the original, which means I have nothing really to commend it on that the original didn’t already do, but at the same time, I don’t have anything to complain about either. In isolation, it is a very good episode of television. In isolation, it’s the best episode yet, but I have a harder time crediting it because most of the good stuff in here is from the original. Onto the specifics:
This episode continued the trend I don’t love of Aang being just a vessel for cliché heroic lines. I get that the show is supposed to have a more mature tone, and maybe some of Aang’s more childish traits wouldn’t have translated well, but they could have at least put SOMETHING interesting in there.
In terms of the Aang/Roku scene, I didn’t love it. I don’t like this “the avatar must not have friends” dilemma the show is pushing. It’s tired. We’ve seen it in every fantasy show. A variation of this could work as part of Aang’s work, but it doesn’t work as his central conflict. It’s too overdone.
Also, Katara wasn’t in this episode, so I couldn’t get annoyed at them for butchering her character. Definite plus.
Another plus was June! Didn’t love her flirting with Iroh but she was fun and entertaining. Arden Cho did a wonderful job. I hope they bring her back more, she’d be a great recurring fun character to have around.
I did love all the stuff with Zuko. I loved the juxtaposition between younger, idealistic, naive Zuko and current, hardened Zuko. Even though live action Zuko is softer than animated Zuko, this episode really did a good job of showing how he has been hardened by his experiences, relative to what he once was. I liked his conversation with Aang, and how the two clearly have a connection despite their circumstances. I generally like it when those types of stories are played out in a non-romantic context because it’s so rare. A lot of the lines between them were a bit cliché, but they worked (except for the line going right into the flashback where Aang was like “You can’t have always been this way. That one was a little heavy handed).
In terms of the flashback itself:
Younger Zuko seems softer and more naive than animated Zuko, which works with the way we see Zuko here. He had a lot of good lines, especially his line about giving the weak a chance. I know some people didn’t like that he fought back against Ozai in the Agni Kai, but to me it worked. It showed that he was still trying to please his father, and just how willing he was to sacrifice his morals to do it (though not willing enough for Ozai).
Speaking of Ozai, I find it interesting how he’s portrayed here. The original show portrayed him as very uncaring, willing to banish Zuko for disobedience but not really caring if he came back. Here it almost seems like he genuinely thinks this is good parenting, like he genuinely believes this will make Zuko stronger. Obviously he’s still horrible and abusive, but I actually think it works better than the original. It goes hand in hand with how he seems to really think he’s doing the right thing for the world with the FN (because newsflash…that’s what imperialism is!) A villain who really thinks they’re right is always more interesting than one who just wants power and is horrible. I think they could do interesting things with him and I’m intrigued.
Iroh was really sweet in this episode. I liked that he tried to stop Ozai from having the Agni Kai, and that he was with Zuko afterwards. It always puzzled me why he didn’t do that in the first place, and while Iroh having flaws makes sense (he should have flaws!) that particular flaw didn’t seem right, so I liked that addition.
And rounding out the fire family flashback (haha alliteration!) we have Azula. She didn’t really do anything here but the bangs were a great choice! I found it a bit weird that the camera kept zooming in on her expression during Zuko’s burning, but her expression was very neutral. It’s another change I like from the original. I think Azula smiling in the original works and is super interesting, but this show is clearly taking steps to make her more humanized right off the bat, which I appreciate as an Azula stan who has to deal with…many people who don’t see her as human. I’m not sure what to make of her expression, but I did notice that it’s the same one she used when Ozai burned the spy in episode 3 (good job Lizzy Yu!) It seems like a mix of fear and joy and detachment, like she’s trying to relish it but also she knows it could happen to her, but she doesn’t want to admit that, and also she just wants to detach from what’s happening. It can be interpreted in many ways!
One minor thing: I didn’t like that this Agni Kai was outside. The really dark, all red, fiery throne room looked a lot more menacing. And they literally already have that set! Having it outside made it look so much more mundane.
Back to the present:
Blue Spirit escape sequence was great! Again, basically torn from the original so no surprise there. I appreciate that they didn’t feel the need to change everything, and the mask looked great. I also loved Iroh’s last line about the mask being the real you. That’s a theme that could come back for a number of characters (Aang, Zuko, Katara, Azula, Mai and Ty Lee…) And I did get this spoiled, but the addition of Zuko’s crew being the 41st was great. Lovely. Super sweet. A wonderful way to pull at the heartstrings.
I’ll give this episode a 9/10. A very strong episode of television, but I can’t give it a 10 because the strongest stuff is plucked from the OG.

Stargirl | Wanda Maximoff x Fem!Reader
GUESS WHO’S BACK? BACK AGAINNNNN
Anyway, sorry for not posting in (I think) months? There’s so much going on in my life and I was too stressed with Tumblr not letting me writing anything...
But it doesn’t matter! I’m back and going back to write asap!
Sorry for disappearing! I’ll be taking requests soon, I promise!
Now, please take this as an apology ;)
Enjoy!
This doesn’t take place at any Marvel cronology, but since it mentions the Darkhold and the twins, feel free to imaginate. This is our Wanda, the MCU Wanda... ;)
---------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
PROMPT: As a retired superhero, you have time to spend with your wife and twins. But Wanda has been acting different these last few days, demanding much more than maybe you can give.
WARNINGS: smut, top!wanda, bottom!femreader, sex language, mentions of wanda being the darkhold self, extremely horny wanda, kind of sub!femreader, kinks.
*highly recomend to listen to stargirl interlude, by the weeknd & lana del rey, while reading this.*
It was just another normal night in Westview. You were enjoying your family to the fullest now that you had all the time in the world to do so, and of course, your wife was relishing this opportunity. Billy and Tommy couldn't be happier to see their moms together again, all the time available for them. The truth is, you were very specific when you asked to retire as Stargirl: your family had to come first before you risked harming yourself to save an entire city.
Anyway, it was just another normal night where you and your family were watching some random animated movie that you were pretty sure you'd seen a hundred times over. Billy and Tommy wanted it that way, and you and Wanda had no choice but to give in. The moon was already high in the sky, the movie was halfway through and Tommy was sleeping in your lap while Billy was sleeping in Wanda's. Your red-haired wife was resting her head on your left shoulder, her hands running up and down your chest.
You were pretty sure you had never seen Wanda like this since she decided to explore the pages of the Darkhold. You weren't a witch, and you didn't understand anything about magic books or magic, but you recognized that she was making a serious mistake in doing this.
However, oddly enough, Wanda looked fine, even counting the days she spent with her floating copy holding that huge book.
“I think they fell asleep…”, Wanda woke you up and, when you looked back at the television, the credits were already rolling. Tommy growled into your legs and turned around, his face so serene and his eyes closed that you groaned in pure adoration. Billy had the same expression, on the other mother's legs.
“I think so,” you replied, laughing. “And we should go too. It's been a long day for both of us”, you quietly got up from the sofa, taking Tommy from your legs and lifting him with your strong arms, trying not to wake him. Luckily you had super strength, so you did it effortlessly.
Wanda panted and purred like a kitten on your legs, grabbing your thighs and almost making you sit back down on the couch.
“Please stay a little longer...”
“Babe”, you smiled, turning to her. “Boys need sleep.”
She pouted. "Is not fair."
“I'll take Tommy and come back for Billy, okay?” you whispered, kissing her left cheek. “You can organize our bed, and take the popcorn pots to the kitchen. I'll help you with the dishes as soon as I get back, I promise."
She pouted once more. “I don't want to organize our bed. I want to do something else in our bed…”, her smile was evil.
“Wanda...”
“Okay, you win, detka”, she grunted, getting up with Billy in her arms and placing him on one of the couch spots, his head resting against one of the cushions. “I'll be in the kitchen, okay?”
You nodded and headed upstairs with a grunting Tommy towards their room. Afterward, you did the same thing with Billy, and before leaving, you left a kiss on both of their foreheads, with a captivating smile. Looking into their room, you saw several drawings of the four of you - you, Wanda, and the twins - all wearing superhero costumes. They had made it a long time ago, and they were so proud that you and Wanda decided to turn them into a decoration for the room.
You could have a lot of fans all over the world, a lot of fans who would miss Stargirl saving the world, but those two sleeping boys right in front of you would be the ones who would suffer the most from your retirement.
* * *
You sneaked up to the kitchen, saw Wanda finish putting the last glass of soda in the cupboard, and wanted to surprise her. You hugged her from behind, digging your nails more calmly into her hips, startling her instantly. Wanda gave a muffled squeak and turned around, smiling when she realized it was you.
"See? I made you change your mind…”, she whispered, leaning closer and closer to your lips, and then, she started kissing you like nothing else in the world mattered. You could have sworn you saw her eyes glowing red before she could close them, and you could have sworn that much stronger magic had you yoked into her hands as she wrapped her arms around your waist.
Wanda wasted no time. With one hand still resting on your waist, she used her other hand to reach under your shirt and touch your body, because she knew better than anyone how much it turned you on. An evil laugh tumbled from her lips as she heard you gasp and moan, surprised by the unexpected touch.
But her smile faded as soon as you pushed her away.
“Wanda, the boys are going to wake up…”, you said, whispering and trying to catch your breath as you spoke.
She laughed evilly again and shook her head.
“It's been so long since we've had sex, baby…” she whimpered. And you could have sworn you saw her eyes glowing red again - now you were really fearing for your life and sanity -. “Please, I'm dying for you, (Y\NN)…”
You shook your head. “Wanda, no. It's getting late. I'm tired."
“Stop making excuses, detka…”, she laughed. “The boys are sleeping. We can sleep late tomorrow. You haven't done anything all day.”
You arched an eyebrow. "No? I fixed the roof and stopped the last rain's leaks if you haven't noticed..."
"Yes, I know, my princess, you are my superhero, that's why I love you more than anything in this world..."
Wanda tried again. She wasn't going to give up until you did, and you knew it. But you couldn't fall for that joke again. First, because she was completely overpowered by the Darkhold and God only knew what he could do when he took over her mind. Second, because you were trying not to freak out like you used to. You didn't need to prove to anyone else that you and your wife had sex three times a week, you were already married to anyone who wanted to see you and anyone would see from afar that you two didn't need sex to be happy as a family.
She opened her mouth and gasped at your lips as you found yourself overpowered and tempted to surrender. Wanda pushed you hard onto the kitchen counter, and you felt your butt hit the structure, painlessly.
“Would you rather I take your clothes off or you take them?” she whispered, laughing.
“Wanda, no…” you gasped. "Please don’t do this to me."
“Why not?”, she looked at you with concern. “Is there something wrong with me, (Y\NN), something you don't like that I did to you?”
You shook your head. "No. No, Wanda, you are perfect, honey.”
She smiled again, eyes flashing red for the third time. It didn't take you long to learn that they only glowed when she got really excited about something. That's why you were afraid to give in to her desires.
“Say it again, go,” she whispered. "Tell me again that I'm perfect, detka...", you shivered when she lowered her fingers and made a sudden movement of sticking them inside your pants. Wanda laughed. “You like it, don’t you? But do you like my accent or do you like it when I stimulate you, hm?”
“Wanda, please...”
“Because I like it when you beg me. And I like to be stimulated too, but I don't need it right now…”, she looked you straight in the eye, returning to her natural green. “You are mine now, (Y\N). You are under my command. There's no way to resist it anymore. You are all mine. And I am yours.”
Wanda pinned you against the wall suddenly, and you gasped. Your mouth couldn't formulate a sentence, but you whispered with what you could: "Bedroom... now...". And she obeyed. Regardless of the connotation.
* * *
You didn't know how to breathe properly a few seconds ago. Wanda was going back and forth in your body with the greatest of ease, both of your clothes were completely thrown on the floor and you were only in your underwear. You tried unsuccessfully to contain the moans rising in her throat and couldn't contain the smile when she touched some point that excited you.
Wanda didn't make it easy either. She would kiss your lips with desire, leaving them wet, huge, and swollen. And then she had a red face. And then she had your neck, marked by pink, almost purple hickeys. As she nibbled and licked at your breasts, her fingers ran over her belly causing delicious shivers.
Suddenly, before reaching the high point, Wanda stopped and turned to look at you. You sighed and tried to relax, thinking it was over. You were relieved and about to pull her closer when she opened her mouth first.
“I've been thinking... for a long time, I have a huge desire to fuck you...”, Wanda said, slowly. It must be something strange for her to be so cautious. “… with you wearing the Stargirl outfit. You know, the Stargirl uniform.”
You looked at her, confused, and laughed.
“Is this really stupid?”, she asked, the confident tone turning into a worried tone that made you feel embarrassed.
"No, no, honey, it's just...", you laughed. "It's just that I was expecting a crazy fan to say something like that to me, not my wife who is also, coincidentally, a superhero..."
“If you don't want to, I'll understand...”
“Wanda, no.”
You held her face. "I want. Just give me a minute, I need to remember where I keep it... You can wait, can't you?"
Wanda nodded, smiling and biting her lip, leaning against the headboard of the bed and hugging her own legs. “Don't take too long, love. I don't want you to trick me into saying you're going to wear that uniform when you're not."
* * *
"Is this where they called Stargirl?"
Wanda squeaked like a chipmunk when you walked in the bedroom door wearing your superhero costume. She looked at you and her eyes became static, looking you up and down. Her smile went from sly to restrained to a tongue sliding across her lips.
“Let's make a deal here, dear…”, you said, slowly approaching her and sitting between Wanda's legs. “... I wore the uniform. And now you're going to have to let me dominate. It's an exchange of favors."
The Scarlet Witch laughed. “You're really smart, aren't you, baby?”, she ran her hand over your face and brushed away a few strands of your hair. "But of course, I won't fulfill that kind of deal, not even with Stargirl...", she approached. “I command. I command. I dominate. Done deal."
She used the supernatural strength of the Darkhold to push you back onto the bed and climbed on top of you, increasing the intensity of her movements. You didn't have a choice. The uniform made it more difficult, but he went down like a wet slide, melting in Wanda's arms. She finally smiled and spared no effort. Her fingers penetrated your pussy with strength and desire, and with each finger, you let out a moan of relief. She moved her legs away from you, opening them as easily as possible, and placed her cold lips right there, tracing kisses until they were on the lips of your vagina.
“Wanda... please...”, you begged, your voice groggy and off-key.
“That's right… Beg your hero, my love. I love to see you begging me… begging for complete control…” she laughed. "Beg baby, say you're mine, say..."
"I'm... yours...", you whispered, losing your voice halfway through. She thrust in three fingers and made you gasp in a scream that echoed off the bedroom walls. Feeling the climax coming before you could control it, you tried to pull her hands away from your sensitive spot.
“Are you going to cum right away, detka?” she whispered, softening her accent. "But I thought you were Stargirl, New York's invincible hero..."
“Wanda…”, you gasped, at a loss for words. “Oh, fuck.”
“Oh, fuck…” she repeated, softening her accent again.
“WANDA!”
And then, you let it all flow in and out of you. Your body went limp and slipped on the duvet, your super strength powers caused the wood of the mattress to break. Wanda smiled and tasted you, wanting more, and tasting more. Then she slithered down like a kitten and snuggled into your arms, purring and pressing her cool lips to your neck, giving you more shivers.
“You were perfect, my Stargirl…” she whispered, brushing the sweaty strands of hair from your even sweatier face. “How long has it been since I felt this much pleasure like this...”
You smiled, taking a deep breath and still struggling for words.
“Before you ask me, yes, I'm satisfied. Almost like a vampire who sucked all the blood in the world and had her vital energy invigorated...”
She buried her face in the crook of your neck. And sighed.
“You'll have to get dressed,” she said suddenly. “I hear footsteps of smaller people crossing the hall.”
You frowned and, as soon as you got up, you started looking for your clothes, which were lying on the floor. Wanda had “accidentally” stolen your T-shirt, so all you had left was her gray sweatshirt and the baggy shorts you were wearing. As soon as you snuggled into Wanda's arms and pretended to fall asleep, you heard the twins walking down the hall.
"Mom, we heard something breaking," Tommy said, looking scared.
“Mummy, I had a nightmare,” Billy growled. “My head feels weird.”
You looked at Wanda, who with shining eyes, shrugged and spread her lips in a wide smile. The night was going to be a little longer than you had initially planned - especially you.

Guys, here's the Twitter account doing Lord's work for Tenoch and his lawyers putting together an amazing evidence based timeline of MER's involvement with Tenoch. They summarize the possible motives/psychology of such a person very well too.
Link courtesy @cutelatinagirl 🙏🏼
Tumblr media
Have to give due credit to @luzsp9-1981 for having shared the YouTube video (in this Twitter thread) of Tenoch and MER way back. I tried finding it yesterday but wasn't able to. Glad it's here. We were all gushing over MER's kind reaction to Tenoch. Who knew we'll be here one day.
Disclaimer: of course this still doesn't amount to a clear judgement, things could have gone haywire afterwards. But looking at how MER approached Tenoch and what her motives were is just shedding new light on the whole fiasco.
We can't be losing our sleep over a bunch of heartbroken women who can't come to terms with the fact that an actor just wanted something specific and nothing more. Maybe they're all victims of the "I can fix him/ I can make him fall in love with me" syndrome. 🙄

Also hate how Lilith is just pretty much a plot device. I don't know what the game is doing now but I hate that she's pretty much there to speedrun a relationship between MC and the brothers.
And that's when MC is already developing a genuine bond with some of them.
But if there are any other instances of her being a plot device, I'd love to hear it.
i do wanna make it clear that this contrived plot point that is lilith does not drive forward the relationship on ALL of the characters. just the most difficult two to really complete the list. i refuse to believe that mammon, satan, leviathan, asmo AND beel didnt care about MC before this turd-bomb of a plot point happened, but i absolutely do believe that is the case for lucifer and belphie for different reasons.
i believe it is a method to sort of "punish" belphie by the games weird rule of telling but not showing. it was the first sign of cowardice on the writing team back then for pulling their punches and taking judgement out of our hands; something they honestly do not often enough and too much at the same time with more mundane things, but with it being a multiple choice type game, options were never really ours to make. just the illusion of it.
by making us the very distant relative of lilith we are punishing belphie for his rash action to anger and and giving us a contrived reason to feel bad for him afterwards. which doesnt work when hes still got the blood on his hands, diavolo hot on his trail, and lucifer coming to his defense.
its a plot point for lucifer because until you earn the trust of all his brothers, he could pretend to care, hell he might even care a teensy bit, but no matter how he feels about you, if there is a shadow of a reason as to how you could betray him and his brothers and use them against their will, there is a shadow of a reason for lucifer to not hesitate to kill you.
picture a scenario where all of the boys save for belphie (and consequently lucifer himself) are forced via their pacts to attack belphie as revenge for him attacking you. with belphie out numbers and his own brothers losing control of themselves to potentially kill him, lucifer would be his last defense against those odds. lucifer is nothing if not cautious and powerful, so he could hopefully subdue his brothers in due time. it also helps that in comparison to lucifer, each of his brothers as you go further down the line have a unique type of fear of him that could in theory ensnare them from continuing their assault on belphie at your command. ie. mammon is really afraid of lucifers wrath and more than anything wasnt to avoid having his credit card taken and being strung up from the ceiling for hours. aside from everyone else in the house, mammon is more powerful than THEM compared to lucifer. then next comes levi, a sort of spineless coward-like person i feel (when it comes to a fight anyway, you basically NEVER see him stand up for himself) and wouldnt want to face lucifer and deal with the punishment of that. and then you go further and further down the list and they get weaker and weaker as we go. satan cant combat lucifers spells, he himself far too busy learning how to cast them rather than protect himself from them. asmo is much like levi in that he would rather not lift a finger, if not for fear of broken nail than broken bone. despite this, he could fold beel like laundry (which still doesnt make sense to me but whatever i guess?) and speaking of beel the guy is built like a truck. hes also the only other one lucifer has physically struck with intention to subdue that was tied to a serious event. and i believe it was more than once at that.
my point being they were very specific and careful about who came in the pecking order, and it was for precaution that lucifer be the one able to straighten them all out in the end.
if there is an MC out there hellbent on destroying belphie, that is a person lucifer will never trust. and so its rather coincidental that in the heat of the moment we choose to forgive belphie, or at the very least put it off, until "months later" since the game jumps ahead in time a LOT since the killing in c.16 and the end of the years program in c. 20.
lilith being our distant relative was for belphie to feel shame, then quickly feel attachment, only for lucifer to see that if we all get along (or perhaps fall in love with belphie in that short period of time for the belphifuckers out there) hes allowed to feel something finally too. or at least let it show more.
so it was a speedrun not for all of the brothers. lucifer, while he wouldnt hesitate in killing you in an instant before belphie got close with you, i wont say didnt feel anything beforehand. he just puts his brothers before anything and everything; something he makes clear time and time again. it was a speedrun ONLY for belphie. lucifer and MC have a sort of slowburn going on, but to say that their relationship is speedran from c.16 onwards is disregarding the little moments beforehand that were special to his character.
as for if and when shes used as a plot point again later, that requires i redownload OG and look around for it there and honestly playing in a pit of spikes sounds more fun than that. playing nightbringer is already such a painful chore....
edit: im also trapped in the early episodes of season 2 bc i flopped so hard at that boring ass gameplay in the first one lol

does harry like accompanying mia shopping or is he a gives her his black amex and waits for a haul kinda guy
both i think!!!
he actually really enjoys going shopping with mia, though it's very hard to tell her no when she insists on building an outfit for him (respectfully, mia could not properly dress him if her life depended on it). but when he's shopping with her, he'll LOVE it if when she tries clothing on, she comes out of the dressing room and asks his opinion. and he'll happily let her drape the clothing she's considering buying over his arms and shoulders as they're walking through the store.
but maybe with his schedule, if she's going shopping on a weekday and he's not able to be here, he's very much texting her, "don't send me any pictures, yeah? wanna see you try it on for me when i get home."
which of course prompts her to go out of her way for the necessities that she specifically came to buy and head to the lingerie / underwear section so she has some fun things to try on for him too.
i also think that it takes some time for mia to be comfortable swiping harry's card while shopping. especially if he's not there. like yeah she jokes about it often, but actually looking at the total and pulling out his credit card is hard at first.
she'll stress text him afterwards and be like "just spent A BAJILLION dollars on dresses. are you going to break up with me??? I CAN RETURN SOME."
and he looks at his bank statement to find that she spent three hundred dollars only at four stores. harry tells her he's spent more on getting on custom suit tailored so it's really not that big of a deal LOL
"i can return them," she insists.
and harry says, "how 'bout you try them on for me when you come over tonight and we'll decide together, yeah?"
which actually translates to: "you're going to put on a little show for me and i'm probably going to fuck you in one of them."

What are your top five "they either would or should put 'It's Complicated' as their relationship status" ships for Star Wars?
iofjgdfijs OH GOD I feel like a lot of my ships would do that but hmm my top??
(in no specific order tho)
Quinlan/Obi-Wan: this one may seem weird as an "it's complicated" but I think that Quinlan and Obi-Wan probably live in this weird in between world of "we are madly in love with each other" and "we are platonic soulmates/heterosexual life partners" (like the trope not that either of them are straight lol). They're exclusive and they're open. They keep falling in love with pretty girls who could murder them. They have semi-successfully co-parented two children together into knighthood.
Rex/Ventress: oh man I have been thinking about this ship in the back of my mind since you first starting sharing those "romance protag" videos dfijssiths. they are mortal enemies they are allies of circumstance they are both being held back by their lives even when they are feeling like they are doing the right thing they are also probably making out in the middle of a hostage situation when ventress is supposed to be interrogating rex and they are both angry about it afterwards.
Mandocule: (mainly thinking of Boba/Din/Fennec/Luke/sometimes Cobb but others too) I think polycules always make things a little complicated (I say as a polyam person) but especially when you have like... several bounty hunters, two of which turned community leaders, a former son of a "smuggler"/rebel turned Jedi, and a former slave turned sheriff, and it just gets... so chaotic. Especially when you consider the amount of trauma, daddy issues, mommy issues, and more this group has collectively, and they are all trying to co-parent a baby jedi who is older than the majority of them. All of them are probably wanted criminals on at least one planet.
Cody/Anakin: while I do think that they could have an actual "we talked it out" relationship, I think what is almost more likely for them specifically is that... lmao they wouldn't. They are both kinda sleeping with a superior/subordinate. They are butting heads all the time but kind of obsessed with each other. They would kill for each other but also might team up to kill Obi-Wan because he is driving them nuts. They both have extreme little brother energy and have both been usurped by a babier sibling that they are suddenly in charge of (Rex and Ahsoka). They both are a lot deeper than they give the other credit for, and they probably only really figure this out after they've already started fucking.
Padme/Sabe: I wasn't going to put this one on the list originally but the more I thought about it the more I realized it is up there even though I don't talk about it often. It's got so much good potential for juicy undefined tropes. Sabe is literally Padme's bodyguard/knight to her Queen, even moreso than Anakin is. She is hopelessly devoted to her and would do anything for her, and Padme is the same back but is also the one actually in a position of power and is extremely important to society. They're in love and have probably been in love since they were kids, even if Padme marries Anakin. And Duty would hold them back in a way it wouldn't for a lot of other ships in star wars. Their love is always there in the background!
this took me way too long to do but it was so much fun thank u nixy

Hi Bella I wanted to ask your opinion on Sasuke's apology to Sakura at the end of the story because I think it was OOC and I will explain my view on it. I am curious if you agree.
I think it would be one thing if Sasuke apologized for something specific that he was shown to be truly sorry for. But that just doesn't exist with his character towards Sakura so the whole apology ended up sounding insincere and OOC. He said "Sorry for everything up until now." Really? Everything?
Sasuke has always made it very clear how he felt about Sakura. That he never returned her romantic feelings is not his fault. When he left the village that was it for the teammate bond they had since a teammate bond is all they had. He stated he cut ties with all of Konoha when he left and this is what is in the text as we see through Sasuke's actions, words, and inner monologues throughout the story. With Naruto as exception of course. Sasuke did not pretend he did not care for her to put on a mask it's just that the bond was broken when he left and she didn't weigh on his mind meaningfully after. He acknowledged her presence when she was around but afterwards if not necessary did not engage. He treated her like he treated the majority of everyone else. If she was useful good if she was not then bye essentially.
Maybe during Gokage Summit arc when he was in bad state of mind certain things could be argued for, but before the Summit and after the Summit he was in full control of his actions. He was honest about his thoughts and feelings towards her. Even after meeting the previous Hokage when he met up with Team Taka he apologized to Karin because he felt regret at what happened at the Summit. But with Sakura there was nothing since Sasuke did not see any reason to apologize. Since she tried to kill him first to begin with. All other times when he left her to die it was all blunt with no remorse or apologetic tone from his side. Sometimes not even an acknowledgement about it.
Even when he said he had no reason to love her or no reason for her to love him he was not pretending either. Sakura was unconscious at that point so no need to say that to just "pretend" he didn't care about her. Again he was just honest about his feelings towards her as he has always been. Sometimes he was more kind about it and sometimes not. He was blunt but honest and never expressed guilt for what he thought since they were his true feelings. He said himself he doesn't care what others think of him since he doesn't care if people like him to begin with. He is unapologetic about it.
So after all the story all of a sudden after the reconciliation with Naruto he is suddenly sorry to Sakura for "everything?" Please don't make me laugh. Seems so OOC of him to say. I understand that he agreed with Naruto's co-operation approach but I don't like how Sasuke is apologizing for "everything" when most of it is not even his fault. Even if he wants a new path of co-operation from then on why must he apologize for the way he truly felt before? To move past what they went through? But an apology for the sake of letting bygones be bygones and not because he is truly sorry is not a sincere apology. Yet s*susakus claim this apology was so great.
Sasuke is the victim here. He should be the one getting apologies but that's not the purpose of this ask so I will end it here. Thank you for reading.
hmmmm someone already talked about his apology, i myself discussed about it before as well, it’s really just a token apology because kishimoto knew he had to pair them up for boruto and yet refused to give ss any meaningful moments, or development whatsoever. it’s not a great apology or ss moment lol it just feels forced and ooc, because what in ss isn’t forced really? i wouldn’t give his apology to karin much credit either, not that it’s ooc, but she basically demanded that from him and he’s like “my bad :/”which i find it funny tbh, i understand why he said it but some sk shippers make such a huge deal out of it when it’s just comic relief and not that deep ✌🏼

My Lo Qué La Vida Me Robó Re-Watch Take That Literally No One Asked For
I used to be salty that the writers “forced” Jose Luis to be “evil” later in the series... lazily “ruining” his character in order to make their solution to the love triangle acceptable to the audience.
This time around, I gotta give them credit, they were being pretty consistent all along.
My sympathy with JL (which was probably 50% based on him being my physical “type” tbh... like, not that Alejandro is hard on the eyes, but I prefer my men dark) definitely biased me and made me overlook or excuse some pretty big red flags. Which is scary. JL is pretty scary, even as far back as the hacienda sequence. Boundary-stomping mfer with untreated PTSD and a death wish in a city basically controlled by a cartel, how could this have gone wrong? Whoops.
As much as I was always cutting JL breaks, I was simultaneously being very hard on Alejandro. This time around, I am more understanding about his breakdown (with the hammer! which is hilarious! but then also the six-month funk afterwards). This is also a dude who had been hit with a lot and hasn’t had a chance to breathe. Apart from the telenovela of it all screwing with his head, he’s pretty stable.
Obviously, Alejandro continues to still engage in a lot of infuriating machismo. I always knew JL suffered from that too, and used to write off a lot of his weird behavior as “this show is just way too accepting of men being idiot dickheads.” But I’m noticing this time that the show is actually a lot smarter than just “men will be men.” Machismo—and machisma!—are definitely not portrayed as bad in themselves... though sometimes people go to extremes... usually it’s external circumstances that poison the well, though. It’s the lying, scheming, and greed that create toxic environments where healthy machismo then turns dark. Again, in show-logic. Not real-life. But it makes a ton of sense in show logic, because (my final revelation) this mess of a winding plot is largely a story about abuse—specifically abuse victims.
Every single one of the major characters are pretty cruelly victimized, and this is a story about how most of them find the courage to escape their circumstances, come out of the fog, hold themselves accountable, set better boundaries, develop healthier relationships, and live a better life (until the writers kill many of them off, which definitely IS something that I hate about the writing).
I really like this recurring theme—for one thing, it’s one of the only ways to justify all the “omigod all the poor rich people” and beautiful clothes/scenery. But honestly it’s pretty shallow and inaccurate to dismiss this as “rich girl problems.” There are also rich and poor boys who are suffering, for one thing. “The world’s smallest violin/Really needs an audience” and all that. ‘Sides, these violins aren’t all that small. Look at poor Nadia. She might be rich, but her crimelord husband is also abusing her in nearly every way possible. Josefina is not only honeytrapped, but the people who are scamming her not only mock her and her looks behind her back, but eventually to her face. Montserrat’s mother is a lying, scheming, gaslighting vendor of her children. Alejandro grew up on basically a fief ruled by a cruel despotic dickhead who later forced him to take the fall for his crime. These people are all relatable to anyone who has been a victim—even if they get to look a lot prettier than you and me while they suffer.
And in this context, I accept the need for the show to mostly showcase machismo (and machisma! the girls are all shown to need to develop this quality, and Montserrat is the “leader” primarily because she has the most of it!) as an antidote to victimization and a defensive measure against abuse.
Altogether, Jose Luis’s struggle—while it sucked—was not unique within the cast. They were all struggling to free themselves and to heal from abuse. JL, uh... well, he fucked up. He chose, again and again, to make his problems other people’s problems. He chose to stomp on people’s boundaries in a way that turned him from a hero/anti-hero into a full-on villain at times. It’s actually all the more tragic because you can see a very good and loving and lovable man under there, but it’s a good man who never grows beyond his initial goodness and who eventually is nearly strangled, not by others, but by his own character flaws turned to self-pity and bitterness.

THE REAL REASON WHY AZULA WANTED ZUKO BACK HOME
I've seen people giving very different answers to this question.
Some say Azula secretly loved Zuko and wanted him to be safe. Basically whitewashing her entire character.
The others say Azula only wanted Zuko because he was nothing but a pawn to her, otherwise she would happily burn him alive. Basically, demonizing her entire character.
But the true reason is...
.
.
.
Somewhere in the middle. Which means both answers are true but also false.
Let me explain why.
1-) Azula indeed has a soft spot for Zuko in the deep down
Even though they didn't exactly have a healthy relationship, a part of Azula cared about Zuko. This was seen clearly in “The Beach" when she came to comfort Zuko after he became depressed.
Tumblr media
She didn't have to do that, but she still came to make sure her brother was okay. And even though it wasn't exactly empathy, Azula at least seem to understand Zuko's sadness and tried to make him feel better.
However, Azula's intentions aren't exactly genuine. And this leads us to reason two.
2-) Azula needed Zuko for her plan
In the “Crossroads of Destiny”, Azula outsmarted Long Feng and took the control of Dai Li. The last thing she had to do to complete her mission was taking down the avatar.
Even though Azula is an extremely powerful firebender, she knew that she couldn't beat Aang and Katara alone even with the Dai Li agents to cover her. That's why she needed Zuko on her side.
She manipulated Zuko to switch sides, and with his help, she was able to take down Aang and almost ending the avatar cycle for good.
So, Azula first kept Zuko on her side to have an advantage during the fight.
Tumblr media
And afterwards, she still needed Zuko around for her master plan.
Even though she saw that Aang had died, she still had suspicions about the avatar's supposed death. Which is why she investigated Zuko in “The Awakening”.
Tumblr media
Azula: Who cares? The Avatar is dead ... [Zuko looks away.] unless you think he somehow miraculously survived.
Zuko flashes back to when Katara explained about her vial of spirit water in the Crystal Catacombs.
Katara: [During flashback.] This is water from the spirit oasis at the north pole. It has special properties so I've been saving
Back to the present.
Zuko: No. There's no way he could have survived.
[They glare at each other.]
Azula: Well, then I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.
In the same episode, after her suspicions were comfirmed, Azula tells her father that it was Zuko who slayed the avatar. Zuko later barges into Azula's room to confront her, and Azula hints that she knows avatar isn't dead.
Tumblr media
Zuko: Why'd you do it?
Azula: [Smiling, with her eyes still shut.] You're going to have to be a little more specific.
Zuko: Why did you tell Father that I was the one who killed the Avatar?
Azula: Can't this wait until the morning?
Zuko: It. Can't.
Azula: [Sighs and opens her eyes.] Fine. You seemed so worried about how Father would treat you because you hadn't captured the Avatar. I figured if I gave you the credit, you'd have nothing to worry about.
Zuko: But why?
Azula: [Getting out of bed.] Call it a generous gesture. I wanted to thank you for your help and I was happy to share the glory.
Zuko: You're lying.
Azula: [Walking past Zuko.] If you say so ...
Zuko: You have another motive for doing this, I just haven't figured out what it is.
Azula: Please Zuko, what ulterior motive could I have? What could I possibly gain by letting you get all the glory for defeating the Avatar? [Approaching close to Zuko she places a hand on his shoulder.] Unless, somehow, the Avatar was actually alive. All that glory would suddenly turn to shame and foolishness. But you said it yourself, that was impossible. [Zuko begins to leave.] Sleep well, Zuzu.
And let's not forget, Azula also knew about the Team Avatar's invasion plan on solar eclipse since she sneaked into Ba Sing Se dressed as Kyhoshi Warrior in “The Earth King". Which is why she took the control of Dai Li agents in the first place (also to help her to take over the city).
Tumblr media
The Earth King tells her about the invasion plan. So, Azula starts calculating all her next moves, including taking Zuko to her side.
Because she planned out Team Avatar's every each move in “The Day of Black Sun part 1” and “The Day of Black Sun part 2”. That's how she outsmarted them. And since she already knew that Aang was still alive, she also predicted that he would show up during the invasion. And once the avatar revealed himself in the Fire Nation, he was going to be seen. And because Azula gave Zuko the credit for killing the avatar, Ozai was going to witness “Zuko's” failure. In other words, once Aang was seen again, it was going to be Zuko who would be accused with failing to killing the avatar, not Azula.
Tumblr media
Azula: So, you are alive after all. [Aang stares at her in shock.] I had a hunch that you survived. But it doesn't matter. [Proudly.] I've known about the invasion for months.
So, at the end of the day, Azula kept Zuko with her both because she cared about him in some way and because she needed to use him as a tool for her plans.
This is why Azula is a complex character. Her actions are far from being morally good or genuine, yet you can't say that they're purely selfish either.
She somewhat cared for Zuko, yet it wouldn't stop her from using him as a tool.
Therefore both her pragmatism and softer side were involved.

Soldier 76 tangent: Socialization
I’m not sure if others notice this, but it seems to me like Jack might have some kind of social anxiety, or at the very least is socially awkward.
My thought process is that, with the Strike Commander position, he never got to show his true self with most people. He was always behind a mask. Meanwhile, there was also intense pressure for him to make others like him - especially in terms of general public image. Living with the fear that a single mistake could make people dislike him, destroy the mask, and ruin everything, because public opinion is fickle.
(Further explanation/examples/evidence under read more, to not take up too much space in tags/dashboard)
I’ve seen people before say he’s ‘fake’ or ‘shallow’ for those things, but I don’t think him fixating on how others feel about him is out of any kind of vanity. It’s out of anxiety, fear, and necessity. Not that it excuses him for things he’s done wrong, but as someone who’s been ‘the target’ before (school trauma), I know just how paralyzing the fear of negative public opinion can be.
For example, even before the fall, he seems to fret over public opinion a lot:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(from Uprising)
Tumblr media
(from Retribution)
Afterwards, Soldier 76 is a ‘lone wolf’ for a reason. But, as you can see from his constant insistence that he’s ‘not a hero’ and etc, he seems very convinced that the public hates him or is scared of him. Even after shaking off the bureaucracy, he’s still fixated on public opinion. Despite paying 0 heed to the fact that he pisses off authorities or major businesses, it’s the public that he’s so focused on.
Meanwhile, afterwards, it sometimes seems like he struggles to articulate himself in an honest way. Like he’s always just impersonating himself. It leads to him coming off wrong.
I mentioned before how Jack shows concern for Mei - see this post - and notice how he expresses it.
Tumblr media
Then, look at another line he has at Ecopoint Antarctica:
Tumblr media
He says he feels terrible for the scientists (presumably, Mei’s friends), while also discouraging her from fighting on the front lines. This gives me the vibe that he’s worried about her safety out on the battlefield (and probably that he’d blame himself even further if she got hurt).
So why did he express it in such an...interesting...way?
It could be a failure to articulate himself properly.
Also, I don’t have quotes for this specifically, but if you listen to the way Jack speaks in-game, he often sounds somewhat stilted and wound up. (Fred Tatasciore, Jack’s voice actor, deserves a shoutout for his ability to deliver so many emotions at once, all while doing a character voice. Love that guy.)
Meanwhile, if you look at how he talks to Ana, both in-game and in Bastet, he’s much more casual and relaxed. There’s a marked difference in how he talks to someone that he feels comfortable with and used to. Even beyond just a matter of trust - the thought that he can at least somewhat expect what she’s going to do.
All of this is just my own speculation, in the end. But I think it’s an interesting concept - and of course, a way to push my ‘Jack is a way more interesting character than people give him credit for’ agenda, which I do at any opportunity.

• When he first meets you he probably won’t pay much mind to you being around it gives you much attention other than sarcasm and a free rude comments until he realises you’re not exactly like the popular girls he resents so much. Afterwards he’ll enjoy your company, but it’ll usually come with him being quite cryptic or manipulative while he’s still with Veronica.
• He might get a bit suspicious of you if he notices you giving him and Veronica a bit more of your attention than the average person does. The glances you give the two of them will definitely be noticed. JD wouldn't see this as a good thing though, and would probably approach you about it with some kind of threat or do something in retaliation to try and make you avoid them.
• Once he notices that you’re actually turning to come between him and Veronica, he’s going to absolutely love it. At first he thought the attention was a bit strange, but now he’s got you and her bidding for his attention and it’s the first time in his life that he’s being given options on who to pick.
• The more manipulative the better, he adores seeing someone be just as toxic as he can be. If you’re being manipulative he’ll catch on pretty quick, but most of the time he’ll stop do what you want just because he’s been looking for someone likes that and like himself for so long.
• As you become more obsessed over him the more he’ll start to reciprocate, until finally he’s practically replaced Veronica with you. If you manage to grab all of his attention and show that you’re more like him than Veronica ever will be, then he’ll easily cast her aside and be with you no matter how upset she is.
• He's realised that you're probably going to do a lot of what he asks you to, and whatever plan he makes you'll be encouraging it. Since this is the case, he'll even encourage you to get involved in the planning too, making you both just as guilty as each other.
• Every little thing that he does will be a way for him to take advantage of your feelings, even if you think that it's the other way around. JD has experience manipulating people, so he's pretty much always a step ahead of you no matter how bad your yandere tendencies might be.

I meant marriage but I would be interested to know your thoughts on prior to marriage too...
Ah ok thanks for clarifying.
First, I think that if Tommy's main motivation for marrying Lizzie was a fear of being alone, he would have asked her to marry him when she told him she was pregnant. You know? That would have been a great opportunity to guarantee companionship. But he didn't.
It's not that I don't think there's some truth to the idea that Tommy has a fear of being alone (I'll expand on this in a moment); but I don't think it really plays out by motivating him to marry Lizzie. And I'm not all that convinced it has a lot to do directly with why he was sexually involved with Lizzie before they married. I think Tommy can use sex as an outlet and a distraction, and yes for some human contact (which isn't the same thing as alleviating a fear of being alone). The sex we see him having with Lizzie in s2 is pretty perfunctory, though that might have been specific to the context of that episode and they seem friendly enough afterwards. He also breaks that relationship off with her once he hires her, which he most likely would not have chosen not to do if his primary motivation was fear of being alone.
I think it's more likely after Grace's death, when they were together in s3. We don't actually see any of those sex scenes (though we have Lizzie's line that it was 'bent over a desk' so not exactly super intimate). We also have Tommy's claim that it was Lizzie who kept his heart from breaking. My guess is the truth about how they interacted was probably somewhere in the middle -- 'bent over a desk' doesn't really give you the idea that she's providing him with the kind of emotional comfort Tommy claims to have gained.
But I think the more interesting question is whether or not Tommy has a 'fear of being alone' in the first place. I was talking to Lisa about this, and she framed it as more a fear of being abandoned and I think that's more accurate. I also think that Tommy already feels alone, all of the time, no matter who he's with -- there was a fundamental severing that creates a chasm between him and everyone else, and this seems to have either happened during the war or was worsened by the war.
It's not so much a fear of being alone-- Tommy's very self-aware of the fact that he's already profoundly lonely. He struggles to connect with people. This is part of his PTSD.
So back to your original question: does Tommy marry Lizzie out of a fear of being alone? I'd probably argue no; at the same time I do think that once they are married, Tommy does have a fear that Lizzie will abandon him. And that's actually driving what people have called his jealousy or possessiveness in s5, and it's painfully present in s6 when Lizzie does leave him.
Paradoxically, Tommy doesn't generally try to defend himself or try to make people stay. You see this with Ada in s1 (this is credit to Lisa again) -- he gives up on trying to convince her that he wasn't behind Freddie's arrest and just accepts her 'forgiveness' because he's so afraid if he doesn't, she'll push him away for good. This dynamic is a big part of how he behaves with his family imo.
You also see this when he doesn't try to explain what happened with Diana Mitford in s6, even when Lizzie basically asks him to (her line about how he doesn't even fight her on leaving). I think in this case it's less that he's afraid that if he does she'll push him away, rather it's wrapped up in shame and the idea that he 'belongs at that table' with the fascists. All of that is probably a whole other essay, though.
This has gotten long and I'm feeling dissatisfied with my ability to articulate what I really mean, but hopefully it has complicated, rather than simplified or flattened, Tommy's character.
I do think "Tommy marries Lizzie/is with Lizzie because he's afraid of being alone" isn't accurate and does that thing where reducing his motivations to an easy formula lead you away from really understanding anything that's going on.

Nate Shelley should DIAF and suffer forever
I remember thinking when S2 of "Ted Lasso" ended that they were definitely going to try to do some sort of redemption arc with Nate as a key part of S3, and also dreading it because I doubted they were going to pull it off successfully. I wanted to be wrong, because I really hated Jaime during S1 and they managed to get him through a good redemption arc and turn him around. But Nate's actions were much more repulsive than even the worst of Jaime's behavior in S1, and I got the feeling the writers weren't going to understand Nate's arc was going to have to account for that.
What I didn't expect was the show to just chuck all of Nate's character development through S2 out, pretend he had a personality transplant, and expect us to just forget. I have no idea why the writing tanked so hard on this but it did.
Nathan Shelley is a sexist and a bully. He always was a bully. The very first thing we see Nate do? He runs across the pitch to scream at Ted and Beard for being on the grass. Nate can't yell at anyone who actually works for the team, but he sees an opportunity to yell at people who aren't part of the team and he leaps at it, almost literally. (Should he be telling unknown people not to be on the grass? Yeah. He doesn't tell, he runs and screams.) It's played for laughs, of course, that the guys he thought he could chastise without repercussions are his new bosses. But we see this pattern with Nate over and over. As soon as he feels like he's in a superior position over anyone, he bullies them.
The whistle he gets at the end of S1 when he gets promoted? Ted has to take it away. I noticed when I was rewatching, Nate keeps blowing the whistle indoors. He's so addicted to having that power, Ted has to take his whistle away and give him one that doesn't work to stop him from doing it inside.
Obviously right off the bat in S2 he starts bullying Will, which just gets progressively worse during the season. He publicly bullies Colin too, and only apologizes because Beard makes him do it. It's a credit to the acting that we can feel how much Nate is seething through the apology and the scene with the jersey afterward, but Nate, the character, is enraged that he's been made to apologize.
Nate's also a sexist asshole. He makes a number of comments about women that are gross as hell during S1. The episode where he's promoted to being a coach, when at first he thinks he's being fired, he turns to Rebecca and calls her a "harpy." The OWNER of the club, he picks a specifically gendered insult to throw at her in his rage. And of course, he assaults Keeley. I know a lot of people don't want to call it an assault, but he knows full well Keeley is not interested in him, that she's in a relationship with Roy, that she's not coming on to him and is in fact going out of her way to do him a personal favor, and he forces her into a kiss anyway. The magnitude of that fuck up was really glossed over on the show and, unfortunately, by quite a few of the fans. Keeley being hot, or physically close to Nate in the scene, or open about sex and her sexuality, doesn't make it okay for a guy who knows 100% she's not interested or available to force sexual contact on her.
There's more evidence of Nate's sexism too. When he gives the speech before the Everton match, he specifically uses gendered insults on Colin and Issac, but not on Sam or Dani. He says Issac has been playing like a "big dumb pussy" and talks about Colin waxing his pubic hair (something associated with women and gay men, ironic given what we later learn about Colin). And again, this is played for laughs at the time. Colin and Issac were bullying Nate pretty badly (which is terrible! Not making excuses for that) at the beginning so we understand why Nate has an extra animus against the two of them. But he doesn't use gendered insults when he has a go at Dani or Sam, or especially Roy.
His speech to Roy actually made me think the show had a better handle on Nate than it turned out to have, because while he insults Roy, he adds the bit about "I'm worried what it's going to do to you if you keep it all to yourself." It made it seem like Nate does care, at least about some of these guys, which is important to being a good coach. But that care doesn't really make another appearance, and by S2 he's decided all the players are idiots and anything that goes wrong is their fault, or Ted's fault for not listening to Nate.
Bullies are always very aware of the heirarchy and where they are in it. They always know who not to piss off and who they can attack freely. Nate is like that from Day 1. And like most bullies, Nate cannot stand to be made fun of, and he cannot ever admit to a mistake. They run with the whole "wunderkind/wonder kid" thing and he repeatedly denies that he misspoke, because his ego can't take it.
What frustrates me is the show seems like they set a lot of this up on purpose. S1 Issac and Colin don't stop bullying Nate until Roy (at Ted's urging) headbutts Colin and orders them to stop. The bullies continue bullying until someone in power steps in and makes them stop. Nate bullies Colin in front of the whole team (Nate's a coach by then), but Beard (higher in the ranks than Nate, who also has the "I haven't told Ted yet" card) orders him to apologize, which he does grudgingly. Then he takes the fury he's feeling out on the person who can't fight back, Will.
The thing is, there is NO WAY ON EARTH Nate's bullying behavior stopped just because he became a head coach. There's no way his ego suddenly became capable of tolerating people saying negative things about him, especially on social media. Put a bully into a position of power over more people, they get worse, not better. I know they retconned this whole "oh Nate's a certified genius!" thing in there, but there is no way Nate, who was obsessively scrolling Twitter in S2, just got over that in S3, when he was running a whole team, which probably lost some matches, when presumably the fans blamed him as the head coach. But we never see that happen. There's no way he had an entire team and staff under him and he treated everyone nicely. This isn't how actual bullies work, especially when they are in an environment where the person in power above them is encouraging the bullying, which is exactly the kind of guy Rupert is.
We see a bit of Nate being a dick to Ted in S3, but no indication that he's struggling with managing the team or the coaches. All of that power-hungry, ego-obsessed behavior just kind of goes poof. It makes no sense. And somehow I'm supposed to not only care but be happy with all the time wasted on this bullying, sexist asshole dating… the woman from S1 who correctly rejected his attempt to pressure her into giving him his number?
And of course, Nate's ultimate sin, betraying Ted's personal medical information to the press, just sits there. Unaddressed. Never adequately dealt with. Trent pays more of a price for what Nate did than Nate himself does. I guess we maybe were supposed to infer that Nate regretted it? But we're never told it in any meaningful way. We're never shown that Nate grasps that what he did crossed a line from personal insult to risking the team's well being, as well as exposing Ted's private information to the public in a way that is wildly unethical and terrible behavior for a SPORTS TEAM COACH who has to manage personal information about other people all the time. They just handwave it as "Ted forgave him so it's okay."
Beard seems to be the only one who grasps the magnitude of it, and then Ted shames him into forgiving Nate near the end - and for no real reason. Nate contributes absolutely nothing to the team's overall status and success by being there at the end. The play Jaime uses, which Nate came up with, was from S1, so Ted would've used it even if Nate hadn't been on the sidelines. Having Nate in the clubhouse again helps nobody, makes zero difference to the team. My assumption is that Apple was already pressing to try for a spin off and they needed to somehow bring Nate back to Richmond.
Nate's dad also has a total personality transplant along the way here too, so it's a larger problem that makes me think they had something else in mind for how Nate's arc in S3 was going to go that had to get rewritten, but it's one of several pieces of S3 that were really badly done. Maybe if S1 hadn't been so well written it wouldn't stand out how uneven S3 was, but here we are.
Anyway, no redemption for Nate Shelley, sexist bullying asshole. May he die violently in a fire and burn forever.
