So how goddamn ecstastic Tim from Wave-verse gonna be when Light did end up being a thing that exists. Also how Steph is gonna end with Cass, does Tim also end with someone? Kon? Bernard? Is he gonna stay a single pringle?
Oh god this is actually a really complicated question.
I don't know how the sidekick timelines of this verse work out. I do not. I haven't really solidified on if there's a 'swap', or if Steph just takes Dick's place and things progress from there as normal. I also don't know to what degree I want to AU things - for example, I want Mia (teen prostitute with HIV who canon kicks to the ground repeatedly and who I want to stan) to be the first Speedy instead of Roy, so a part of me wants to fudge the world to elevate the unloved and abused by canon sidekicks, especially the women. I don't know to what degree I want to do that either. So get back to me!
But I think Kon would be difficult to swing. Superman makes his debut in 1998, when Tim's already 14, and unless I want to rewrite Kon's entire backstory and bump his age older than the rest of Young Justice just for shipping purposes, then the ages really wouldn't match up. And I don't want to fuck with the timelines just for shipping purposes. Kon & Young Justice should be about Damian's age, but that thought gives me psychic damage and I'll always be partial to Damian's Young Justice that exclusively lives in my head (Jon, Irey West II, Sin, Milagro if I can swing it). Jon's kind of an over-used and over-loved character, but I am kind of JonDami and it might be interesting to mix things up and make Jon be Clark's clone. Or use Chris, who is the most forgotten about character known to man, but who I'm still fond of. Something off the wall like that.
The really obvious answer here is to just do Bernard. And I have nothing against Bernard or Timber, it's - it's fine. It's fine. It's very normal. It's ordinary and wholesome and I really can't help but notice that every canon gay couple in comics is the blandest, most banal and inoffensive whitebread shit, Billy Kaplan/Teddy sucks, and every gay couple in canon comics is like that, and the canon gay couple is fine, but in the comics Tim changed his costume to look more like Kon's after he died, kissed his girlfriend out of mutual grief, and holed himself up in his basement to try and clone him. Okay? Okay. That's what Tim's homosexual agenda looks like. It's not normal. When Tim is obsessed with you he is never, ever, ever normal about it.
That is the only way I can physically imagine Tim liking somebody. If he was insane about it. I'm sorry. I can't imagine New Wave!Tim having a normal fucking relationship with a normal fucking guy.
That being said, I'd still like Tim to have a partner. I don't know who, though! Without Kon or Steph I have no clue. Something to think about.

guess fucking what? my inbox is so fucking full right now i'm unloading all of this shit in one post.
For the 11th gotham memes: gothamites react to bruce being jacked in a tiktok he made with kids, like super yoked, ripped as hell
fucking hilarious thanks. i think i did it in one meme post, but i genuinely don't remember which one
i dunno which of the batfam would do this but one time i was sleeping over at a friends house and ended up on the floor bc the bed was so very small and i just stayed there because the rug was soft
that's a drunk jason move i don't know what to tell you
tim and jason are "i listen to pop punk" solidarity. whenever jason highjacks the batmobile theyll go on long ass car rides blaring mcr and paramore and then never talk about it again
as they should!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tim: no jason it's my turn using the aux cord i gotta put on my jams jason: don't you dare put on weird shit tim: don't worry, you're gonna love this *plays fearless (taylor's version)
hear me out hear me out, red hood stans 🤝 nightwing stans t h i g h s
holy shit yes.
SNL au: Bruce breaks character when pretending to superman and says something like "I'm not superman! You've seen his gps!! It's from 2001!!!" @sabeanybabe
superman flies past the snl building the next day just to say 'actually it's from 2005, i'm not a heathen'
does your back hurt from carrying the batfam fandom
it hurts more from the exotic rock collection i keep in my backpack, but thanks for the concern.
I love your posts by why would you always leave the best parts in the tags?
as a treat for the people that check the tags ;) (and also because i'm committed to the short post aesthetic)
somehow your playlist was everything i never knew i needed. i mean it. this is my new favorite playlist.
and don't you dare get a new favourite playlist!
babe ur stoner tim playlist is exactly too perfect, earth is literally blessed by ur existence
babe thanks so much! i love my stoner tim playlist because it's just my usual playlist but people think it's an artistic choice that i put taylor swift and britney spears in there, when it's just what i unironically like listening to
JANDKSKDK BILLY RAY CYRUS ON THE STONER TIM PLAYLIST I LOVE IT IT
again it's not even an ironic choice, i know every single word and i genuinely like the song
The last chapter of Fundamentals of Casework has me crying at work. Thanks I love it @dudelookitsalesbian
oh babe, i'm sorry, but also, not sorry i love chapter 4 so much it's my lovechild with the 'mental illness' tag
soooo....stumbled on your tumblr by some stroke of fate??? read your DC fanfic first. which is PHENOMENAL btw. then found all the batmemes; the funniest thing EVER bc everyone forgets about regular old gothamites. kept scrolling and your blog pops up as recommended. clicked on the ao3 for shits and giggles and waddaya know?!?!? it's YOU!!! you're LEGEND!!!! ever seen that meme? it's a video of a cat that got into a baseball field and the two announcers get really invested in his escape attempt and start giving a play by play of the cat instead of the game. memeable moment: "GREAT stuff from the Cat!!!"
i seriously think about this ask every single day and it's so fucking funny to me that i've never seen the meme you're referencing, but i still find myself going 'GREAT stuff from the Cat!!!' whenever i see something funny. but wow i'm glad you liked this steaming pile of garbage
Fav dc character overall? And fav batfamily character?
don't ask me to pick between the loves of my life, but i can tell you i've cried about every single batfamily member and also wally west (my beloved)
What's your opinion on fans having a problem with batfam being "too big"? And some even claim that batfam is just "Bruce Alfred Dick Damian" and the rest of them are just "friends and allies" (source: reddit) Personally, I like batfam because of this reason but idk
stupid. a family can never be too big. i'm not that big a fan of like huge batfam stuff with everybody from every single universe, because as much as it's funny for bruce to have like 30 kids, it just feels a little too OOC for me.
This is the best tag I've seen involving the batfam, thanks for thinking of it
Tumblr media
This is canon now @nctxrejects
lmao yeah i think at that point alfred has had to sit through like at least a dozen coming out talks and just has a pride flag collection in the attic that he pulls out whenever a kid comes out
idk why batfam hits different as compared to any other superhero family
bc it's found family and usually the other superhero families are almost all genetically related in one way or another
I don't know if you watch the umbrella academy but I saw your last post about batcest and saw the similarities. But the thing is (although I think it's weird) in TUA, they addressed it by saying "they were raised as weapons, not siblings" or something along those lines, which is simply not the case with batfam.
yeah i watched tua but i also thought it was ridiculous and they still treated each other as siblings so i didn't like the luthor/allison thing, and am glad they stopped doing that shit bc it fucking sucked.
Hot take: Batcest shippers are the same people who believe adopted siblings are not actual siblings
smoking hot take: batcest shippers are the people who watch 'my sister got stuck in the washing machine' porn
Duke was adopted by Bruce?
not technically no, but do i, tumblr user batarangsoundsdumb, look like i care?
True story but I had to change my freaking name because it used to be "Damien" and most people would go "OH LIKE DAMIAN WAYNE" like please I'm just tryna live
true story, but i don't actually think of damian when i hear the name damian, literally the first thing that pops up is damian darkh like bruh what?
apparently dc comics company supported comic stores by giving out new titles and stuff during the beginning of the pandemic to help them run and I just think that's wholesome
ah yeah that's so fucking cool, still don't like dc, the company, because this world is a capitalist hellhole and we're all owned by warner brothers or disney with no in between.
ayo looking at tumblr head canons and finding out bruce is actually a terrible father is a punch in the gut
lmao yes, in like 50% of comics bruce is a terrible father and it gives me whiplash
oooh I just saw the jason todd vs winter soldier post and the real question is: batman vs iron man
while iron man has like hundreds of cases of armor, batman could throw out an emp and have the guy dropping out of the sky in 2 seconds.
dickfast = fastdick = quickdick = quickie
magnum hot take
hey bata(?) just thought I'd let you know I have copied the obnoxious emoji and Billy Ray post for use on simping men going forth
thank you 😘🌷 (@spacebarsidecar)
why would you do that to your followers???? i get why i did it, but why would you???
what is scarecrow made the nightwing funko pop himself, like those diy-ers that paint over other ones
oh god no, horrible take, horrible take, that's a disgusting thought oh no
I see your HC that Bruce and Oliver fucked and raise you this: Dick and Roy ALSO fucked
yes they did and it was a horrible moment for jason to find out dick has fucked both of his best friends
"at this rate bruce adds like 1 child to his family every decade or so" Duke is introduced in 2013, Damian as Damian, not as an unnamed child, in 2006. And he is already 14 years old, Robins rarely remain Robins after 16 😬 It looks like a new Robin and Batkid will appear in a couple of years
i mean i can't wait? but somebody will probably die first tho, we're due for another major character death. my money's on either cass or duke this time.
BRO you're so right all of your Bruce's ex headcanons are amazing but they aren't ships, that's kinda wild. Like I don't want any peeks into how their relationship was I just want to see everyone make fun of them
lmao YES it's just i love bruce being a slut, like good for him.
I am in love with your posts your honour thank you
omg thanks are we like,, gonna kiss now?
The justice league needs to have a meeting to discuss how many of their members/partners have slept with bruce. Because through a combination of cannon & fannon (if DC wasn’t homophobic) we have AT LEAST: 1) clark 2) lois 3) oliver 4) dinah 5) john
Thats not counting villains or random civilians @dudelookitsalesbian
yes yes yes, they'll have a yearly meeting about how many of their collective exes could be out for revenge and batman's list just keeps getting longer.
tim was like "i'm drake now" and everyone was like ahh so your fursona is a dragon and tim was like pffffft no. ducks.
and what about it?
when steph's fighting livewire and she zaps her with lighting and nothing happens and then they both just. stand there awkwardly for a second and talk. yeah i couldn't stop laughing at that batgirl steph is the BEST
oh yeah that was fucking hilarious and i think it would be so cool and sexy of dc to give steph a little comic series,,, as a treat
Hi I absolutely adore all of yours "Bruce and Oliver very badly pretending they didn't fuck each other" memes
lmao i do too
I need you to know that “Bruce Wayne had frosted tips” is one of my favorite Bruce takes of all time it’s so galaxy brained. you’re right and you should say it
he also painted his hair blonde once when he was travelling and in conclusion, this is why he's being blackmailed by the gotham gazette.
you know my thing about gordon being branded as the only good cop in gotham is its a load of shit like arguably he's a good person and not working to screw people over or anything but the fact that he also works w. batman makes him a shit cop. like yea batman is better than the mob but its still illegal its still an abuse of power he just not making bank
babe, all cops are bad cops. (but yeah youre absolutely right, working with vigilantes makes you a shit cop, but also working against vigilantes just makes you an asshole cop yanno?)
ruh roh i think i’m about to add “so not yeehaw” every time i don’t like something
that's a very good vocabulary upgrade
somehow i feel like steph already knew. like babs obviously knew but i feel like bruce got high/drunk in front of steph and started telling his boarding school stories and steph was just like “oh you fucked up i’m never gonna forget this”
steph and bruce have weird uncle/rebellious niece dynamic and they just hang out sometimes and bruce will be like 'i once broke my arm when i tripped over a hedge when i was drunk so oliver drove me to the hospital on an electric scooter' and steph will just have to sit there with that knowledge in her head.
Hello I just wanted to tell you you are So right in all your steph opinions bc she is, in fact amazing and I think that's very sexy of you. Ps. Your Bruce/Oliver fic is hilarious
babe, thank you so much and yes steph is amazing and i love her and she deserves the world and she's the best member of the batfam hands down. also thanks
In Supersons we see a couple of kids that are implied to be Damian and Jon's children and the boy has laser eyes and can fly, so I asume he's not adopted. The girl, who calls Bruce grandpa, can also fly, btw. So it's canon (probably by accident) that Jon can have kids and he must have married one of Bruce's kids. (I'm hoping for Damian, mostly because any other of his children would be waaaaaaaaaaaaay too old.) @artemisa97
lmao that was probably an accident seeing as jon is a 17 year old superhero in the year 3000 (by the jonas brothers)
You know, I'm a die hard fan of your memes, but I gotta say one thing: if Gothamites actually took gas mask everywhere with them, then the Scarecrow would just be a weird dude in a weird costume, and not a villain oh so scary. DC really should just takes notes from you.
bold of you to assume there's no gothamite anti-maskers
How does it feel being the funniest person on this app?
horrible, next question.
I can't listen to Green Day or Billy Joel without thinking of your post about how Bruce got arrested at a Billy Joel concert @nightwings-kid
yeah that's your mistake, i on the other hand can't enjoy billy joel without thinking about the glee rendition of 'uptown girl'
I've FINALLY been watching the Batman animated series and I gotta say, after watching "the gray ghost" I am CONVINCED that Batman is a closeted super hero geek who was 100% freaking out the first time he met Superman and is just REALLY good at hiding it.
superman: so what do you do in your free time? batman, thinking about the superman fanfiction he's writing on the batcomputer: i have no free time
bruce and oliver be like boyfriends to co-workers 401k (do the justice leagues get 401ks??? not that bruce and ollie would need them, but-)
lmao yes just 400 thousand words of bruce realising 'oh dip oliver is such a fucking dumbass' (also i don't know what a 401 k is but i assume they don't?)
Gothamites would totally boo superman as he saves Gotham while batman is out. @meenje
he's like 'okay think about that next time you want to be saved from an alien octopus'
I just took long break from dc comics and I come back to see ric grayson ??
i think it's very cool and sexy of dc to see dick and just think 'you know what? let's just give him a traumatic brain injury' and then didn't develop his character in any real way
SPEAKING OF RIC GRAYSON, gothamites making confused memes out of ric grayson is much needed
'dick grayson is my taxi driver? can anyone explain what the fuck happened he looks like an italian plumber?'
i hate to say it but batfam are def "marvel characters" in that sense they are characters who are human but become superheroes unlike most dc characters who are gods trying to be human maybe this is why I like batfam
fair enough

PARTY FAVOURS I CHAPTER 18
First time reader click here
Tumblr media
TWs/Summary: We stan ✨women in science✨. Bruce uwu. Twitter social media AU nobody asked for. Stephen and Tony are dicks and I'm not talking about their anatomy. Setting up mood for Bruce smut, ngl. PTSD makes things spicy. I'm depressed so please be kind ✌🏻💀🙃
Tumblr media
"I really do wonder how can you two fit those egos of yours in your pants," I kept my tone forcefully casual, cheerful even. "Why don't you just fuck already?"
I was met with stunned silence. Suddenly, the room seemed far too large and the people in much too quiet, staring at me with various expressions of horror obvious in their faces. As the strange friendship began developing between me and the team, my "outbursts" - how Steve liked to call them - lessened considerably. I had no need to provoke them into giving me attention, just striking up a casual chat was enough. The Avengers were great conversationalists, to my surprise.
Tony and Stephen, when paired, were the exception. I could count on one hand the amount of times they successfully came to a conclusion without fighting like cats and dogs. It was like each man had made it a personal mission to verbally top the other, more often than not resulting in a thirty-minute shitshow ending with one storming off in a dramatic flourish. It was mind-boggling how two supremely intelligent men could not find a way to communicate efficiently without infuriating the rest of the team.
Plus me. One way or another, I was almost always around. In the beginning, it was hilarious to see the free circus but it got old really quickly when they couldn't decide on dinner or a movie, leaving the rest of us starving and bored. Or the great Cloak debate - that one lasted days and the fussy thing was so upset, it point blank refused to part from Peter for a substantial amount of time. It's pretty fucking creepy that a semi-sentient, ancient piece of outerwear watches you when you sleep - just sayin'. I personally interjected with my own snark and sass whenever Tony and Stephen got too heated, successfully drawing the attention to myself. The fight broke up and I had amazing sex with Tony later, it was a win-win scenario.
Yet, Tony and Stephen didn't stop. To me, their way of "talking" (and I use that term loosely) looked a lot like unresolved sexual tension. Stephen frequently used his greater height to tower over Tony in a childish attempt to establish dominance; the engineer was no rookie and responded with extravagant peacocking such as "subtly" tapping the bracelet that hosted his nanotech suit or parading at dinner in a $30,000 custom made designer outfit. Because Tony could.
I was pleasantly surprised when Natasha started laughing at my remark. Full-blown, belly laugh. Those were rare, coming from the Widow, her usual mirth was quiet, sophisticated, just like her. Deadly (adorable). Bucky followed suit, snorting together with Clint and Loki.
Steve looked none too pleased with me. But then again, was he ever? "Doll, don't be rude."
"Brat," Bruce said at the same time, palming his face.
"People always call me a brat. And guess what, Steve?" I popped my hip, twirling a cotton candy pink coloured Dum-Dum between my fingers. "What can you do about it? Nothing," I shrugged, leaning my head against Bruce's shoulder affectionately.
Steve just shook his head in disappointment. "Can we get back on topic? Please?"
"Captain, I think that Stark..." Strange began talking with Tony dramatically groaning in the background and I instantly tuned out the useless babble. Steve should've been smarter and revoked speaking rights from Tony and Stephen. Or asked Loki to magically render them both mute for ten minutes.
"You're not wrong," Bruce quietly whispered next to my ear. "Ten bucks says Wanda meddles and those two finally work out their frustrations," The scientist hid a grin against my head. I felt the amused, giddy energy radiating off him like a plasma beam.
"I don't even have to bet," I rolled my eyes. "If she doesn't do it, I will."
Both Tony and Stephen were throwing me equally infuriated glances. One promised me a good, hard fucking and the other saw me a short, poisonous lecture on appropriate behaviour in the nearest future - you can guess which is which. If I had it my way, I'd skip the lecture and go straight to a hot, filthy threesome with two men twice my age. I wasn't blind, Strange was hot as hell and could be decent and even nice once in a blue moon.
He could, but he wouldn't be. I wanted that raw, unadulterated lust, tension so concentrated it walked the razor's edge between violent craving and repulsion. Ever since the incident with Clint, I had this ugly mess inside of me, like a live wire about to snap. My brain was constantly racing, darting between how utterly useless I am in a group of supers and embracing my normal-ness, amplifying it by hosting game nights and spending time trying to convince people to start a dungeons and dragons campaign. Or something.
My sleep was like Swiss cheese, riddled with holes where I stayed awake for one or two hours at a time in the middle of the night after waking up sweaty, with my heart hammering out of my chest. Sometimes I dreamt of Clint's lifeless, sickly white body, sometimes the whole room flooded with blood and I couldn't stop it no matter what, there was so much of it, I drowned in it, I startled up with the taste of it in my mouth. Rarely, the worst of it came - the one where Clint was alive as millions of millions of little fluorescent, poisonous jellyfish burst out of him and he screamed and screamed and screamed...
I had PTSD. Yay, me. As if my uselessness wasn't enough of a burden, my brain decided for me that it wasn't good enough that I saved Clint and now it was punishing me for being close to a group of people who routinely saved the WORLD.
I contemplated my usual habits - going to a party, getting trashed and dancing until my legs were numb. I just wanted to shut my brain off for a moment, give it a hard reset so-to-say, but with Tony on my back like a jet-pack, I didn't doubt he'd show up to the place and drag me out of there even if I was kicking and screaming. And he was a Stark, a billionaire, so visiting my dad in Cali wouldn't be possible on my own. Tony would gas up the jet and the rest of the team would find and excuse to tag along, too. As much as I loved being the baby menace who could get away with anything, I hated the way they all herded me, like I was an actual child. I couldn't get away from myself, not even for a moment.
I had the backup-backup plan and I was going to have to execute it. Desperate times, desperate measures. "I don't doubt y'all enjoy listening to Tony and Steph flirt," The nickname escaped unmoderated from my lips before I could catch myself. "But what are we doing for Halloween? I need to know if I gotta get a costume," Bruce chuckled next to me and wrapped an arm around me, happy for the distraction. Unlike me, the scientist was obligated to listen and participate in the avengers-themed discussion. Which was difficult because the engineer and the sorcerer constantly bickered, inadvertently taking over the talk.
"Halloween?" Steve groaned.
"We should do something," Bucky side-eyed his boyfriend. "For the children." Something told me he wasn't thinking of the children, at all. The man was positively leering, probably thinking about what kind of a tight suit he could convince Steve to squeeze into.
"A party!" Tony immediately exclaimed, interrupting Stephen mid-setence.
"Tony, no," Steve stated firmly.
"Tony, YES!" Clint perked up. "A snack bar. A bar-bar."
"I will not be helping you all if you get alcohol poisoning," Stephen crossed his arms.
"So it's a party," I stated firmly, throwing a contemplating look at Wanda and Pietro. The twins looked unsure but excited. I knew I could count on fellow young people to support my decision to have fun, dance a little, drink a little. Let loose. To nail my point, I turned to Bruce with a mischievous smirk. "Fifty bucks says Stephen is too stuck up to show up in costume."
"Beg pardon?!" The sorcerer exclaimed. His eyebrows threatened to meet his hairline.
"I think you give him too little credit, Princess," Bruce winked at me and we solemnly shook hands. It was great having a fellow partner in mischief. Loki's approving smirk just sealed the deal for me.
"It's not my fault you sometimes act like you have a stick up your butt," I gave in the way of explanation, shrugging my shoulders innocently in Stephen's direction. "I'm just pointing out the obvious."
"I don't dare to imagine what's been up yours," The sorcerer retorted dryly, in an uncharacteristically childish fashion, arms still crossed. It almost looked like he was pouting.
"Tony," I simply said, leering salaciously at the man.
"Ooh, kinky," Clint reached over and we promptly high-fived each other in the wake of multiple embarrassed groans emanating around the room. "Strange, you're a boring old man, get over it."
"And you regularly end up in dumpsters, Barton," Strange retorted quickly. "Not my idea of fun."
"You wouldn't know fun if it hit you in the face!" Tony grinned triumphantly, confident in his superiority over Strange. Look at that, the team was doing the work for me and I didn't even have to try.
"I'll show you fun," Stephen retorted darkly. It was obvious the man was planning something.
"Ok, boomer," I raised my eyebrows in muted satisfaction before turning around and grabbing Bruce to drag along with me. "I'm confiscating your best scientist to amuse myself. I am bored. We will go and do actual science whilst y'all argue. Bye."
My patience had run out. We were examining the parasites we found in the murder-anthropods-from-space, codename MAFS, courtesy of yours truly, and their amazing properties to penetrate cell membranes and feed on metals in organic life forms. Without Bruce's help I understood maybe half of it but he had the patience of a saint and dutifully and understandably explained to me the finer points of studying aliens. Signing half a dozen NDAs was never more worth it.
Steve's sigh consisted of 99% suffering and 2% disappointment. Natasha face-palmed silently in the corner, clutching a mug of coffee, a poster child for existential dread.
"Wait for me," Tony whined, going for the door and promptly being stopped by Steve pointing out the team needing his input on one mission or another. The engineer sighed. "Baby girl, don't let the green mean to start any experiments without me." Tony instructed, pointing an accusatory finger in our direction.
I clutched at Bruce dramatically, feigning hurt feelings and was rewarded with a swift motion of his arms. I shrieked delightfully at being thrown over the scientist's shoulder as he hastened his pace towards the elevator, hightailing it out of there. "I'd never snitch on science daddy," I wiggled my eyebrows in Tony's direction, sticking a hand down the back pocket of Bruce's pants, dangling over his shoulder like a happy sack of potatoes.
The lab smelled strongly of alcohol and bitter chemicals, the solution that Bruce developed to ensure the optimal state of the alien pathogens. The man's genius never ceased to amaze me: Bruce came up with the needed formula in the span of a few hours while running low on sleep, post a Hulk-out session.
We put on our protective gear - "science onesies" I called them - along with a respirator and goggles and set to the segregated part of the lab where the specimens were kept under a blue light. The glass wall between Bruce's and Tony's lab was dimmed; I reflected in it, looking positively futuristic in my double-stacked white platformed boots and white hazmat suit.
"Wait," I motioned to Bruce to come over.
"Oh, right, our music," He was already half-way to being in total Science Mode. "Friday, please put on the "Get Schwifty" playlist, 60% volume."
The playlist that me and Bruce came up with for our lab sessions. The man was such an adorable dork. Thirty percent my music, thirty percent of his indie rock shit and forty percent 00's bops. In other words, utter perfection.
I finally managed to fish out my phone from my pants. "No, let's take a selfie," I struck an impressive pose and pointed the camera as Avril Lavigne sung the first verse to Sk8r Boi.
Bruce laughed but abided by the request, giving me bunny ears in the photo, tapping the fingers of his other hand on my waist to the rhythm of the song.
"He was a skater boy, she said see ya later boy!" I sang along, switching my Instagram to stories and posting the short clip of us just vibing with the caption #sciencetime, Bruce laughing openly behind his respirator. I looked cute and silly in my outfit.
"Send the video to me, I'll post it on my Twitter," Bruce requested. I indulged him then put my phone away, ready to conquer the world of microbiology. Or die trying. Science was calling...

So time I live up to my name and create some salt!
I had a Miraculous AU idea, heavy in Adrien salt.
WARNING! EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION AND ABUSE. No physical abuse, but still, you have been warned.
In so many salt stories, Lila getting the class to bully Marinette makes Marinette stronger, she begins to stand up for herself. She learns to say no when Adrien becomes obsessed with her.
Not in this.
When Lila gets the class to turn against Marinette, she shuts down. She becomes more quiet, resigned. She doesn’t reach out to anyone, and she has no support system. Tikki trys to help, but can’t do much. She becomes Guardian, and there are more weights on her than ever. Eventually she and Chat Noir defeat Hawkmoth. Adrien is shocked, and Marinette comforts him. They reveal themselves to each other, and start dating. Marionettes crush has subsided, but Adrien is adamant, and she can always fall back in love, right?
Wrong.
She never really likes him in the same way, but he guilt's her so much that she feels like she can’t leave, that it would be selfish. All the kwami see what’s happening, but they can’t convince her. Eventually they move to Gotham. It could be that Marinette needs to create balance there, or that Adrien wants to be a hero again. Either way, they move to Gotham and become vigilantes. Marinette and the kwami don’t really want to infringe on Batman’s turf, but Adrien wants to, and there can’t be a black cat without a ladybug, so she has to come along too.
Eventually, they come across the Gotham Sirens. Marinette, who knows they’re (mostly) reformed, waves, and goes over to say hi. She goes to swing her yo-yo over, but Adrien grabs her arm to stop her. The Sirens have heard about two new vigilantes that the bats have had trouble with, and were having a girls night/ scouting mission. So, they saw someone in read wave, get ready to come over, and was that a yo-yo?, and someone in black stop them.
Adrien: “What are you doing? They’re villains!”
Marinette: “They’re antiheroes now, they help the bats for the most part.”
Adrien: ”So if my father decided to just help us one day, we just forgive him? You know how I feel about that Bugaboo, are you trying to make me mad?”
Marinette will instantly start on the apologies, and by the time the Sirens are over, they’ve left. Harley didn’t hear what they were saying, but she sure knows what she saw. She saw someone doing absolutely nothing wrong, and then try to placate someone else, taking the blame for nothing at all. She sees the signs of an abusive relationship. And she sees red.
When Adrien and Marinette get home, he takes her earrings. This is something common, when she does something ‘wrong’ he will take Tikki. Time and time again she has been told that she didn’t deserve having Tikki to talk to when she ‘misbehaved.’ And she believes him every time. She truly believes that she deserves being alone for doing something (or most of the time nothing) wrong. She decides to go out to get ingredients to make an apology dinner for Adrien, and either runs into one of the Wanyes, or into Harley, who’s been looking for the two she saw earlier. You can decide who she runs into.
If it’s Harley, she will try to avoid her, remembering that she got in trouble for trying to talk to her earlier. Harley will take an interest though, and while Marinette is trying to get away, and will accidentally let slip that she’ll get punished for talking to her. Harley is concerned, but will ‘leave her alone,’ as not to get her in trouble. In reality, she is totally following her, and telling everyone (Sirens, Batfam) about a potential abuse victim.
If it’s a Batfam member that she runs into, (Not just the boys because I need more interactions w/ Steph Cass & Barbra) she could start up a conversation while shopping, (crushes are up to you, one sided or otherwise) and she accidentally lets slip that this was an apology dinner. When asked what for, she vaguely answers about talking to the wrong people. They get concerned and alert the rest of the gang, including the Sirens because they help victims of abuse.
Either way, everyone decides to look out for her, someone befriending her, (probably one of the girls because Adrien has convinced her that spending more time w/ boys is cheating on him) and they will subtly interrogate her. They figure out that he ‘depends’ on her to help him, and that something went on in Paris that made them closer.
This leads to the Justice League finding out about the Paris Situation, and Wonderwoman and Aquaman getting very upset at Green Lantern or whoever ignored them. (I stan Aquaman knowing about the Miraculous due to Plagg sinking Atlantis.)
After Marinette gets off the bench, she is extra careful to not set Adrien off, as she is best at getting the Bats off their backs about vigilantism. The Bats offer to train them, knowing they might not be able to stop them, and Marinette is all for it. There’s just one problem.
Adrien doesn’t want to do it.
Batman and bird of choice will notice Marinette’s immediate change from being enthusiastic about the training to being against the idea as soon as Adrien speaks against it. They leave not long after, and there is no doubt in anyone’s minds that they need to get her out.
While Marinette is on patrol one day, a large flower appears in her face, and sprays some kind of pollen. The earrings are providing her some resistance, but most of her energy is going to staying awake. While trying not to pass out, she accidentally stumbles off of the roof. She doesn’t notice, nor does she notice that a giant plant caught her. Finally, the pollen combined with a general lack of sleep get to her, and she passes out.
When Marinette comes to, she notices that her hands are tied. There are vines wrapping around her arms, with a red flower sprouting from the top. As she looks around, she realizes she’s... on a couch? In an apartment? With all the Sirens just hanging out?
Wait.
She scrambles to get up and get out, but she trips in her haste, drawing attention to her. Ivy uses her plants to gently guide Mari to the couch, being careful not to hurt her, but making sure she knows that she can’t leave.
Marinette is just confused.
She’s been kidnapped before, both in and out of costume. Most of the time, they want her miraculous, and the rest usually want dates. However this was new. Glancing at the clock, she realized how late it was. She really didn’t want to loose Tikki again, so she hoped Adrien would understand why she didn’t get back in time.
Harley: “Don’t worry, we’re rescuing you!”
Marinette looked at the vines, then back at Harley.
Harley: “Oh, right. Let me rephrase. We’re rescuing you even though you don’t know you need to be rescued!”
Now this makes Marinette confused. What did she need to be rescued from? Maybe the Bats were mad at them? She really needed to smooth things over for her and Adrien quickly if that were the case. Noticing her confusion, Poison Ivy took over.
Ivy: “Look, we just need to check a few things then you can go. We’re concerned that your boyfriend is abusing you, and we need to make sure you’re safe.”
Oh. Marinette can deal with this. Adrien had never hurt her outside of akuma attacks where he got mind controlled, and that wasn’t his fault. Just because he was in charge of the duo didn’t mean he was hurting her. She was just about to tell the Siren this, when she got sprayed by another flower. She got ready to fight off sleep again, but was surprised when she didn’t feel any more tired.
Ivy: “Don’t worry about that, it’s just something that will compel you to tell the truth. We won’t ask any secret identity questions, we’re just making sure you’re ok.”
They ask their normal set of questions, like, ‘has he ever hurt you’, and received odd answers like, ‘not outside the influence of the miraculous.’ When asked more about the miraculous, bubbles flew out of her mouth. as they were about to ask more, her earrings gave a loud beeping, and there was a large flash of light. When the Sirens opened their eyes, they saw a girl wearing civie clothes, with the same red and black domino mask, and a bug... thing? floating in front of her face. Marinette felt a mix of shock and relief. Shock that Tikki had released the transformation, and relief that Adrien had warned her to wear a mask underneath because she was bound to get the earrings stolen at some point. Looking at the shocked faces, she realized that she had said that out loud. She was left speechless when Tikki flew up to her face (Ivy noted how her plants seemed to grow much faster as she flew by) and ripped her mask right off. There were shocks of recognition from all of the Sirens, and as Marinette was about to ask Tikki what in kwami’s name was she thinking? Tikki cut her off.
Tikki: “*Bubbles* no. I am not about to sit by and watch you make excuses. I have been trying to warn you for so long, but you refused to listen. If it takes me revealing your identity for you to leave *Bubbles*, then so be it. Now, you are going to sit there, while I tell these three exactly what’s going on. I don’t care that you think it’s not abuse, because it is. So please, after this, take back the ring and leave. Kaalki can take you anywhere you need to go, even if not for yourself, do it for us.”
Marinette was left speechless, and Tikki turned around and started to explain the whole story. As she couldn’t say their real names, she would just use their hero names while clarifying on whether they were civilians. After the whole story, they were ready to go skin a cat. Selina would normally take offense to this, but at this point she was too angry to care. When Marinette finally broke down, everyone comforted her, and they created a plan. They would broadcast having her hostage, (after telling the bats so they wouldn’t come) and get Adrien to come rescue her. Or at least, Marinette hoped. She knew there was a slight chance that he wouldn’t come after her, or at lease leave her there for a bit as a lesson. She fought the part telling her that she would deserve that, and got ready. After feeding Tikki, she transformed and got into place. After broadcasting the video, they sat and waited. About an hour later, Adrien came crashing through the window, landing in front of her. He used Cataclysm on the chair, and that was when Marinette struck.
Marinette: “As Guardian of the Miracle Box, I, Marinette Dupain Cheng, hereby revoke Adrien Agreste’s right to wield a miraculous.”
In a flash of light, Adrien was de-transformed, ring having flown into Marinette’s finger, with Plagg looking relived. Adrien was fuming, ranting at her, until he decided to attack. The moment he lunged, he got a mallet upside the head, knocking him out.
The relief of it all being over got to Marinette, and she broke down on the floor.
Now the ending is open for interpretation! This was kind of a prompt, maybe more of an idea, but there are a few ways this could play out.
She could get adopted by the Sirens, and gain three new aunts. Maybe eventually she’ll feel up to joining them on their nights out.
She gets with Batfam member of choice. She is an adult here, so pair her w/ whoever while being mindful of that
Bruce adopts her. She fits the Wayne criteria, and his kids love her.
Come up w/ a completely original ending! Go wild!
That’s all for now, night all!

What do u think are some of the biggest misconceptions about tim and steph both as individual characters and as a couple
I mean I am not claiming to be an expert in either character, my opinions for them are half canon readings and half just meta which has wormed its way into how I read them. I’m sure you can find as many panels contradicting what I write as I can find panels supporting what I’ve written so…uh.  Behold.  A ramble:
Steph: I honestly do not think Steph hates or even resents Bruce or Batman, if you go with her being a second stab at Jason’s character archetype in that she is the child of a criminal father and a drug addict mother who allowed their anger to colour their crime fighting only for them to be brutally tortured, ‘die’, then return to Gotham… Jason returns and is irrevocably jaded, Steph returns and is the exact opposite.  She doesn’t blame Bruce for what happened, and she still trusts him.  Anytime she does think of how he screwed her over she shakes it off.  She’s a forgiving person.  She forgives her mother, she forgives Tim for a lot, and she forgives Bruce.  She gives second chances, it’s only when a person (her father) shows no sign or remorse or growth that she hates them, and even then, she isn’t sure if she does hate him, or just pity him.
Tim: I have a lot of unpopular opinions for Tim, which, uh, sorry. Mostly revolving around how I think he honestly does have the weakest arc of the five robins.  I think to understand Tim you have to understand that, relatively speaking to other Batfam characters, he’s quite passive after his initial taking of the Robin title.  Qualifying statement: my personal fave Robins in order are Dick and Steph, Tim, then Damian.  Then Jason way down a rabbit hole and no I will not expand.  Tim’s a sweet boy who starts off doing good for the sake of doing good but through character development (which is largely externally motivated, him joining the Teen Titans, everyone dying, not allowed to be Robin… Tim drives none of that forward.  Things happen to him, he reacts) he starts to lose any will to exist genuinely outside of his superhero suit, aka he becomes more Batman like than any of the other Robins.  But there’s not a lot you can go with that afterwards aside from where they went, evil timeline and moral ambiguity and all that.  Tynion gives him external interests and draws on that ‘I can do good better than others can’ late Red Robin mentality but takes away the trauma and anger of that statement to try and make it a bit more proactive in terms of Tim’s character development. Tim’s actions have consequences on himself, it’s not just a case of others actions having consequences on him.  I really like Tynion’s Tim and I think I’m like one of five tumblr Tim stans who does. He’s an interesting character darn it.
TimSteph: The idea that these two would have nothing if not for their costumes kinda gets my goat, because it’s contradicted so many times not only in actions but also from the character’s own mouths.  One of the points of Stephanie’s pregnancy arc was to show them growing closer outside of the costumes which added to the conflict of not telling Steph who he was because she was starting to know and love every part of him. Steph even spells it #119 where she says, “My feelings for you aren’t based on a suit.” which again is referenced in the Rebirth Tec run where again Steph states that she really doesn’t give a shit what Tim calls himself because she knows him she loves him that’s all that counts at the end of the day.
Tim and Stephanie also have buckets in common.  From the shallow in that, they both have terrible tastes in music, like nerdy/geeky things and have a general interest in pop culture.  They both say pwned.  I mean… c’mon.  On a deeper level in that, both were brought up with the idea that love is conditional and a lot of emotional neglect.  Both of their deepest fears are not being good enough at being a hero, child, friend, significant other etc., i.e. the conditional affection they received growing up means they can be very insecure with their place in the world. Tim takes this as fact, Stephanie rages against it.
Also, yes yes yes to the idea that given the chance, both are openly affectionate with their loved ones.
They are soft and sweet.  Steph likes kisses, Tim likes hugs and hand holding and snuggles.  Gosh I love them.

@dargeon-lissa I saw your note on that post, but I’m afraid I don’t have the time or energy to dive down that particular rabbit hole this week, lol. I generally avoid getting into the ‘who stole what from whom’ arguments in the first place, just because I really do love all the Batkids when fandom isn’t getting in the way, and I firmly believe there’s no need to treat characteristics or even plots as though they can only belong to one character.
So like, I happily butt in when someone says something like “YJ Dick’s hacking is stolen from Tim” because like, its not like its a knock against Tim to point out that “no, Dick’s been portrayed as an expert hacker since before Tim was created, they can both be great hackers, stop being dumb.”
And like I was saying just the other day where I think its stupid and juvenile to emphasize some idea that Dick never reads for pleasure or educates himself for the joy of learning, because some people seem to think that takes something away from Jason, if they’re also writing him with an emphasis on those characteristics.
That sort of thing.
The rest of the time though, I think it really just comes down to intent, otherwise its just a moot point.
Like, I’m not a fan of Court of Owls fics that center around Tim and basically transplant him with all of Dick’s canon connections to it....but that’s because its like...what’s your point with that fic? If its just because you like the Court of Owls and Talon plotlines but you don’t like Dick, so you’re just cut and pasting one swapped out for the other, then you’ve lost me, not because you’ve ‘stolen’ from Dick, but because you’re not doing anything NEW with the material you’ve applied to a new, different character...while disregarding its source connections.
*Shrugs* I don’t think that’s about being possessive of Dick’s storylines, its about being like....this is boring. If someone wrote a fic about Tim and the Court of Owls but doesn’t just use him in place of Dick, and still acknowledges their connection to Dick instead of trying to pretend like it or he doesn’t exist...in and of itself, I don’t have a problem with that, it just comes down to whether or not I like what they do with that. Much in the same way that I’d read fic about Dick going up against Ra’s in some specific plot, but if its set after a point in the comics where Tim’s stories started intertwining with Ra’s a lot, I would still want to see that acknowledged.
Because I do think its disingenuous to pretend that Tim’s stories don’t use Ra’s a lot more regularly than Dick’s canon stories do, even though Dick has prior interactions and stories with Ra’s that go way back before Tim existed. But like....these things don’t need to come into conflict. I can imagine a story that’s Dick vs Ra’s and that doesn’t take away from the respect (or his creepy version of it) that Ra’s has shown Tim as well. He’s allowed to regard more than one of Bruce’s kids as a worthy adversary, and it makes sense that he would. It doesn’t threaten Dick’s central role in a story like that, or his competence, to allow for the fact that Ra’s has a preoccupation with Tim as well, even if that’s not his focus in this particular plot.
And by the same token, if I were to write a story that springs out of the events of Robin: Year One, for instance, where Dick gets tangled up with Ra’s and Talia and the League because of Vengeance Academy or Boone, something like that.....and I don’t even mention Tim, because its years before Tim would have come into the picture....that’s not me stealing anything from Tim, because those prior connections existed, why shouldn’t anyone make use of them?
Oh fuck it. I clearly went down the rabbit hole anyway. Whatever, more under the cut. Why am I like this.
It goes both ways too. Yeah, sure, I think its dumb when Jason stans act like focusing on Dick’s death takes something away from the typical focus on Jason’s, like he’s less special now or this is Dick ‘stealing Jason’s thing.’ Its comic books. More characters have died and come back then haven’t. Few have their death and return be as central to their character as Jason’s is, like, the Death of Superman is an iconic story but even with that, Clark’s death and resurrection isn’t like....regarded as a fundamental part of his stories....but that doesn’t mean no one’s allowed to write stories that focus on the deaths and returns of other characters, for whatever reason.
That’s not taking anything away from Jason’s stories, its not copying him, and neither is the way Dick was believed dead for a year like, a rip off of when Steph’s story went the same way prior to that. Characters believed to be dead being revealed as alive is an equally long-running comic book trope. It applies to far more than just the two of them, and no one has proprietary claim over it, its about what you DO with it.
Now, stories that focus on Dick’s death and how he was believed dead and revealed otherwise.....that involve the rest of the Batfamily and make a point not to mention any parallels with Jason or Steph’s stories, act like nothing similar ever happened with them....then I’d be equally wary of that story because I’d be like...why? What’s the point in pretending there are no parallels, acting like Dick is the only one this has ever happened to? He doesn’t need to be, in order for it to have impact, so enough with this Highlander “There can only be one” philosophy.
Like, Dick’s one of the most iconic DC characters and has been around for 80 years. He was going to die and be brought back at some point. Deal with it. It was always inevitable, just like its pretty inevitable that its going to happen to Tim for real at some point too. It just hasn’t yet.
All that said....there have been a number of stories over the years that have posited Dick being killed by the Joker and coming back as Renegade or Red Hood. Similarly, I have no interest in reading those, not because I’m opposed to a Renegade storyline or an exploration of a darker version of Dick, but because they’re usually just a blatant cut and paste job. *Shrugs* I’ve already read that story with Jason and UTRH. I liked that story, with Jason and UTRH. Why do I need to read the same story, just with Dick now instead of Jason? I’d rather read something brand new.
Then we get to ‘stealing characters.’ Like Jason stealing Kory and Roy, and Dick stealing Kon in YJ, etc. I have the same philosophy here as I do about characteristics....its weird and not cool to me to treat characters as having ‘claim’ to any other characters...but that doesn’t mean I always like when this happens either. But its not because they’re taking what belongs to another character, its about why, and what they do with it.
Like, when its a cheap grab of established characters being now associated with a different character to give them a supporting cast with minimal effort, as opposed to building them their own supporting cast with time and care and putting thought into it...THAT’S my problem with that. I don’t typically like Jason being besties with Kory and Roy, either in canon or in fanfics....but that’s not actually because they’re Dick’s friends and can’t be Jason’s too, its because I don’t like the stories that result from that, and I don’t think they make a case or put any effort into convincing me that this needs to be a trio....the way the comics have decades worth of stories establishing a connection between Dick and Roy and Kori and Dick, and with that being why they’re so associated with him.
I don’t like Jason, Roy and Kory in canon because I just don’t like the New 52 versions of Roy and Kory period, lol. I hate what they’ve done with them, they feel watered down and tweaked in ways that add nothing to their characters, and their association with Jason irritates me not because it exists, but because of how rarely it allows their association with Dick to exist, and acts like mentioning him in their stories threatens the validity of them being with Jason. You wanna write them being Jason’s friends, DO THAT. But put some EFFORT into it. JUSTIFY it. And....don’t erase their connections to Jason’s brother because they’re not allowed to have connections with two brothers at the same time or whatever. Like, even without all their pre-Flashpoint history, New 52 Roy and Kory SHOULD show way more of a connection to Dick than their stories with Jason ever allow for, and that’s the bigger issue to me. Not that Jason ‘stole’ them, but that writers act like he can’t have stories with them without pretending their stories with Dick don’t exist.
Even in New 52, like, the Rebirth version of Titans was crap, lol, but it still existed, and like....there’s hardly any acknowledgment of Dick and Roy being long time teammates even AFTER the Titans got their memories of each other back in Rebirth. Even if they’re not the best of friends in New 52 the way they were in Flashpoint, they still had way more history in even current canon than Jason’s comicbook writers or fic writers seem willing to allow mentions of. Similarly, we barely know anything about Dick and Kory’s relationship in the New 52....but we do know they HAD one, and fucking amnesia was involved there too, lol, but like. It exists. You want to write her mostly hanging out with Jason now, fine! But like....there’s no reason her past with Dick can’t still exist, and that it would never come up.
Instead, I read way too many fics about Jason, Kory and Roy where the latter two just fucking full on hate Dick, because the writer does. Or just act like he’s a total stranger to them and their loyalty is solidly with Jason and always has been and always will be. And that’s cheap and lazy writing to me, and makes no sense and wouldn’t appeal to me even if it wasn’t Dick that was being bashed and it was a different character in a similar context.
So its not like they CAN’T be good friends with Jason, because they were such good friends with Dick first. Its just...factor that in, at least, you know? But admittedly, even were writers to do this more, it still wouldn’t be ideal IMO, with these particular characters....because I’m always gonna wonder WHY. Why them? Why these two in particular, when giving Jason more friends? Like, especially if you’re still incorporating large amounts of pre-reboot history into your characters, Jason and his dynamics with Dick and the Batfamily in particular.....its always going to be a little weird to me to have Jason of all people become besties with one of his big brother’s most iconic and longterm friends, and his big brother’s ex-fiancee and mother of his child in other timelines.
Like....its just a matter of....you couldn’t come up with anyone else? That’s why when I headcanon giving Jason more friends and teammates of his own - BECAUSE HE TOTALLY DESERVES THEM AND I WANT HIM TO HAVE THEM, I AGREE, LOL - like, I focus on characters who have no strong connections to Dick or Tim or anyone else in the Batfamily already. And its not because I don’t want to steal what ‘belongs’ to anyone else already, but because....Jason should get to build and have strong connections with characters on his own. I’d rather look through DC’s vast library of characters and find ones that I think FIT him best, have the most potential to play off his character and add to his storylines....then try and take a shortcut by seeing who’s been popular with his big brother but isn’t currently being used in big brother’s storylines, and thus can become besties with Jason without needing to put too much effort into writing that happening.
And that’s why I don’t have a ton of interest in writing Jason with Kory and Roy....because I still prefer their dynamics and history with Dick and don’t really feel they make a ton of sense to go live with his younger brother instead, so I’m happy to just have them friendly with Jason, maybe even the friends of Dick’s he’s closest too and they’ve occasionally teamed up on their own....but for Jason himself, I’d rather build him connections with Tomcat, Damage, Ray, Jade and Obsidian, Anima, maybe the aged up version of Chris Kent....characters he has a blank slate with, no prior strong associations with his older brother that innately make any connection Jason has with them at least somewhat complicated....people I feel he could play off of well and they could add a lot to each others’ characterizations and storylines, and I can easily and without conflict write them being fully in Jason’s corner in ANY kind of disagreement with even Dick or the other Titans....without there always being this weird edge where its like, are Kory and Roy on Jason’s side here just solely for his sake, or is it also because they’re pissed at Dick or the other Titans for their own reasons, or what’s going on here?
Now jump back to where I brought up how YJ Dick has been accused of stealing Kon from Tim. Like, this I think is fully dumb, and again, people can think its because I’m a Dick stan and think he should have everything lol, but its exactly what I’ve been saying all along. Its about what you do with the characters. And its about that none of them belong to any other character in the first place.
Like, can I just say I hate the whole ‘so and so needs their own super, their own speedster, their own archer’ mindset? They’re not collector’s items. They don’t go up in value once you have a complete set. If you’re trying to configure a team and make sure you have certain different archetypes and powersets because of what that allows for narratively? I’m all on board. But once you start going well Kon is Tim’s super and Jon is Damian’s....then I’m like. LOL. No. Kon is Tim’s FRIEND. Jon is Tim’s FRIEND.
And also because...that’s all Connor actually is, in Young Justice? He’s Dick’s FRIEND. And teammate. He’s not “Dick’s super” because tbh, I don’t see how he’s any more closely associated with Dick in YJ than any of the other original core cast. He’s got the exact same degree of closeness and familiarity with Dick in YJ as he does with say, Artemis. Did Artemis steal Kon too? Or are they just all friends by virtue of the YJ showrunners deciding to make Connor one of their age group, because they wanted their team to have a character with connections to Superman and Lex, not because they wanted Dick to have his own Super.
*Shrugs* And if you don’t like moving Connor to a different age group and generation of heroes in and of itself, that’s a valid complaint! But it doesn’t need to be about Dick stealing something from Tim. I hate that Raven and Beast Boy were aged down in the New 52 and the more recent animated movies and are more in Damian’s age group than Dick’s.....but that’s because I love the classic 80′s Teen Titans lineup and miss Raven and Gar’s dynamics with ALL the older Titans characters. Not because Damian stole them from Dick. I also hate Vic on the Justice League because it was nominally supposed to be to boost his profile but I think its only resulted in a regression in his stories as while a Titan, he had a LOT more narrative focus and a lot more character connections than he’s ever been given since being made an original Leaguer in the New 52′s version of the Justice League. And I don’t hate the JL for stealing Vic from the Titans, I hate the DC editorial staff for making dumb, flimsy creative choices in the name of headlines and hashtags instead of solid character choices and strong narratives.
Like, I went off for a bit there, admittedly, but god. I just hate this whole ‘so and so stole this and that from so and so’ in fandom, because its so pointless, IMO. And people take it so faaaaaar.
LOL, you know how I talk a lot about shipping Dick/Kyle? I’ve had people accuse me of ‘stealing’ Kyle from Jason....because enough people ship Jason/Kyle on the basis of the one comic they were in together and had tension in, that he’s now apparently ‘Jason’s’ and the only reason anyone could possibly have for shipping him with Dick is because Jason’s not allowed to have nice things.
I can’t even express how dumb that sounds to someone who’s been shipping Dick and Kyle ever since there like, two interactions in the Obsidian Age JLA arc that came out years before Jason was even brought back in the comics, let alone starred in a comic with Kyle. Where absolutely, yeah, he had far more interactions with Kyle than Dick and Kyle have ever had! But like, there’s not a fucking quota for non canon ships, lmao. Its not like whoever has the most interactions with someone gets to call dibs.
There’s a whole laundry list of reasons I ship Dick and Kyle together, based on their core characterizations and their storylines, and various parallels I’ve seen in both over the years. And any story I wrote with the two of them as a couple would absolutely reference Kyle’s previous history with Jason and Donna in Countdown, and have him have his own interactions and dynamics with the two of them, separate and distinct from what he had with Dick. And none of that has anything to do with wanting to ship him with Dick because he’s usually shipped with Jason and I’m jealous and want him with my fave instead, lol. I actually do ship Jason and Kyle as well at times, in other story ideas, and that actually has very little to do with their Countdown interactions as well. If anything, the reason I ship Kyle with both Jason and Dick in different scenarios is because I’ve always seen Dick and Jason as very similar in a lot of regards....and thus they both share a lot of the characterizations and story points that I parallel with Kyle’s, and are what makes me think he’s a viable love interest for either of them.
To wrap this up, I can FEEL the inevitability of someone out there saying “Big talk, but what about you insisting that Jason STOLE Robin from Dick?”
Like, I can just FEEL that on the tip of someone’s tongue, lmao.
And to that I would have to answer....uh....I’ve never ever ever even once said or suggested that Jason stole Robin. I’ve always maintained that the fault there was Bruce and Bruce’s alone, and its Bruce who has something to account for there. From an IN STORY perspective. Because of the CHARACTER reasons for Dick feeling protective and possessive of the mantle, not for any meta reason about it being his and his alone.
Because I do like all of the Robins. I’m glad all of them were Robin. My repeated insistence on stressing the importance of the name for Dick, and hating how little that’s acknowledged...is literally just that. I can like all of the Robins and still think that as the creator of the mantle, and having created it to honor the legacy of his first family, the Flying Graysons, NOT to be an extension of the Batman, I just happen to think that even with all of the Robins sharing in the legacy at this point and adding their own bits to the mantle and what it means and represents, Dick’s motivations for becoming Robin in the first place and the fact that he was not the one given the choice of turning it into a legacy is something that deserves to be upheld as the most important factor in narratives about passing on the mantle and conflict over the mantle.
Not because Dick’s the best Robin or the most important or anything that requires or suggests RANKING the Robins according to some completely arbitrary set of parameters....
but simply because Dick’s creation of the mantle and his reasons for doing it and what it meant to him from the start and to this day....are the most RELEVANT to stories about the passing on of the mantle or conflict about the mantle.
Because simply in terms of causation....without Dick’s motivations...the mantle they all fight over would not even exist. Voila. That makes them innately relevant to any discussion of the mantle in a way that say, Tim’s motivations for becoming Robin aren’t necessarily relevant to a conversation about the mantle between Dick and Jason, or Jason and Damian, or any other variation not involving Tim. Dick’s motivations are the only ones that always bear relevancy in anything pertaining to the Robin mantle, because he’s the singular commonality for it, no matter who holds it and how they got it....because he’s the one who created it.
That’s all. Its got nothing to do with best or favorite, its about....just wanting fandom to stop treating his feelings about Robin as the most irrelevant, when he’s the only single common denominator wherever Robin is concerned....and thus the most relevant.

I disagree with the idea that someone's a better Cass fan than people who want to see Cass as Batgirl again just cause they support her as Black Bat or Orphan. Saying that we don't care about Cass unless she's Batgirl is ignorant. DC doesn't care about Cass unless she's Batgirl.
Listen I am well aware that plenty of fans prefer Steph's run as Batgirl over Cass. I've read Steph's run because of that so when I talk about it I know what I'm talking about and have an actual opinion on it. However I find it hard to believe that Cass's time as Black Bat was a high point for the character and when I see someone trying to argue that point it's hard to take them seriously. DC did nothing with her in terms of actually development. She just showed up when she was allowed and they randomly gave her a new code name that for me at least fell flat. Could Black Bat have been a new era for Cass bringing her to a new sense of self after giving the Batgirl mantle to Stephanie? Yes. Was it? No. Gates of Gotham is the closest we ever got to true development for Cass during that era and they rebooted the universe quickly after that. Black Bat was the era when DC finally figured out a way to get rid of a character they didn't want anymore, but fans loved so they let her cameo in other people's stories but never going so far as allowing her to be the focus.
A similar thing is happening right now with Rebirth!Cass "Orphan". At this point in time she's basically the distant cousin of the batfam. Once she was the daughter of Bruce Wayne, now she's that girl they call when they need some extra muscle. Rebirth!Cass's development is slow, it's happening sure, but it's slow and painful. Mostly because DC won't let her exist outside of team books. We have barely gotten a glimpse into what her life is like outside of the batfam and then when she's around she's only ever in service of Batman or whoever the team leader is. Even in Tynion's Tec during the League of Shadows arc which was specifically for her, it was basically long version of Batgirl #25 (granted a lesser version) and she was still sidelined often in her own arc. It was more about Batman/Batwoman and the Colony trying to stop Shiva and the League of Shadows, even throwing in Ra's for a couple issues. All while in the background Cass has an existential crisis about Shiva being her mom. That's what it was. And then after that we got some decent Cass and Clayface stuff and then Cass discovering the old timeline when she was Batgirl and wore the symbol. Good stuff. Unfortunately it all went nowhere cause Tynion left. Now Hill is writing Rebirth!Cass and I'm excited about that. I hope he's able to give Cass the development she deserves, but it's STILL A TEAM BOOK! So he can only do so much. He even said he decided against doing a Cass focused arc first cause he was to scared he'd end up making it a solo Cass book. Team books are great, but when a character isn't getting focus anywhere else they can be a drag on the development of said character. I don't expect Hill to make Outsiders a Cass solo, nor would I want him to. I want him to write a team book. Unfortunately, much like Tynion's Tec that means we could go months with no real development for Rebirth!Cass.
Now I say all this to say. Of course most Cass fans want her to be Batgirl again. It was the high point for her as a character. It showed her developing constantly, gave her a supporting cast, gave her interesting stories that challenged her as a character with such a deep seeded moral compass, it let us as readers learn more about her with every issue and also made her part of the batfam in a way Black Bat never was and Rebirth!Cass could only dream. However as someone who is friends with a crap ton of Cass stans who love her more than me, we all continue to support her even now in Rebirth when she's going by possibly one of the most insulting names ever given to a character with her backstory. So yes, we want Cass to be Batgirl again, not because we don't love Cassandra Cain only when she's Batgirl, but because we want the company that uses her to love her too. And right now the only time we've seen them show that love is when she's Batgirl. Also Cass as Batgirl just works. She defines that role in a way Babs never could and Steph never had the opportunity to. If Rebirth!Cass were to take that mantle it would be more character development in a single issue than she's gotten in a very long time cause the implications of it. She's wearing the symbol again, her relationship with Babs would come back into play (seriously that's just gone now), her relationship with Batman comes back into play, her relationship with Gotham as a city comes back into play. It opens up a whole world of storytelling that isn't being explored right now. Now could all of these things still happen with her not going by Batgirl? Yes. However there's been no indication that it will. Now I'm cool with different things happening. I miss Cass and Babs or Cass and Steph, but I love Cass and Clayface and think Cass and Duke could be something special.
So to end this, yes I want Cass back as Batgirl. I think that mantle is her's to carry till she doesn't want to. Not cause Bruce tells her to pass it on, not cause editorial wants a white girl to be Batgirl again, but because she actually does find herself moving on from the mantle (to Batman, but that's another conversation). However I also continue to support Cass when she's not Batgirl cause I love her character. Two things can be true at once. I don't consider ppl that only support Cass when she's Batgirl less Cass fans than me. I don't consider Cass fans that like the Black Bat era or Rebirth!Cass less Cass fans than me. And neither should you. We're all fans of Cassandra Cain. And that's what matters.

Some fans are like "I can say whatever the fuck I want about the characters that I hate and that's my opinion. But if you say something bad about my fav character I will kill you" and It is annoying... I am looking at you, some Damian and Stephanie stans, just chill or leave the fandom for a while.
I can literally criticize any character, but Damian apparently.
Only with Damian does criticizing bad writing = hate, going off of what I get yelled at about.
He has been legitimately: The only character I’ve gotten crap for criticizing the writing of.
I’ve straight up criticized Stephanie’s stans, Steph’s main relationship, her overall importance in the Bat-Family, her writing in her one solo, and I’ve only gotten ONE nasty ask even related to her, and that wasn’t even because of that. That was just because I think of Tim as gay.
And because of all those asks I’ve gotten, I’ve been so repetitive about it too, because of all the asks. I’ve probably seen the same exact thing so many times, and never got any crap for it.
Yet ever have I been accused of being a Steph hater, most likely because I still talk about how I like her anyways.
Much like how I keep having to remind people that Damian used to be my fav, because people act like me having a Tim icon is enough to attack me.
My simple standard is just, Damian has never been well-written, and so I don’t like that and criticize that writing. It’s such an overreaction to call that hate.
But like, an old post comes back and a few new asks about Damian, and I’m starting hate apparently, and I’m just a jealous Tim stan.
But jealous of what, they’re all bad written now.
A lot of the sucky things have happened to Damian too, just in the opposite way.
Although I guess that ask (that I deleted, because what exactly am I suppose to say to it) might’ve been about the complaining I do about overglorifying Steph, but I’ve actively talked against that attitude for Tim too.
I haven’t even tagged any of the posts either, so what hate am I starting? Just because I criticized Damian’s writing on my blog and people agreed? I complain about Tim’s writing all the time, that’s how my blog got popular, and I’ve never been accused of starting hate there either.
It’s only with freaking Damian stans do I ever get such hate for.
Almost always just because I don’t find him cute. It’s almost always after I say he’s not cute to I specifically get hate for it. Sometimes they’ll shove the cute moments in my face, but when I’m aware they’re all out of character it means nothing.
I have studied these characters in my off time, because I find them interesting as fictional characters even if I don’t like their writing because it’s my hyperfixation. I absolutely know what’s what by now.
I don’t care what post they show me that says he’s just “immature”.
Damian kidnaps people, injects chemicals into them, in Jon’s case to paralyze him, and runs a private prison that violates human rights. All of that after three years of living with superheroes.
That’s not immaturity.
PLUS, all of that is irrelevant, because he is a fictional character,
and all I wanted to do was criticize bad writing on my blog, because it bugged me because it sucked they kept ignoring all the bad things he done in the comics and it ruins the quality of a lot of thing she’s in.
I don’t care that the fictional bad man does bad things, but they always elect to ignore that, just to attack me. No matter how obvious i make it that it’s the writing I’m criticizing, they make it all about their favorite fictional character having negative things related to them. No matter how often I openly crap on my fav’s current writing because I think it’s bad too.
Fandom people sometimes get so wrapped up in it that I think they forget what’s actually going on. Some of them straight up act like it’s high school and try to gaslight me.
I’ve gotten called a whiny, loser Tim stan, and all Tim stans are like that, like people trying to make me feel bad just for saying their fav isn’t cute.
But you know what?
Criticizing bad writing, which I also do for my favorite character isn’t that whiny or toxic. People do that on YouTube and it’s called video essays that explains what doesn’t work in fiction. It’s also a literal job people get paid for, because it’s being critic.
Being unable to handle someone thinks your fav has bad writing is way more whiny and toxic then I’ve ever been.
They have the attitude of people that give fandoms bad reputations and Tumblr fandom especially rotten reputations on other websites. They straight up drive people away, no matter what they yell or claim about other people being the cause.
I’ve met, and known enough people that have either left or want to leave this fandom to know that.
Lying about your fav to convince other people that your favorite is literally the opposite of how they’re written the majority of the time, and attacking others when they don’t share your opinion and labeling it what ever you want to give it a bad name is just toxic.
I wish they’d go away or learn to calm down before harassing people.
Especially since I don’t tag the posts and they literally have to find me to be mad at me, that or they’re just insecure other people agree with me on what I say. Regardless they need to get their world view in check.

A rebuttal. Of sorts.
I am putting this under a cut for people who want to avoid the wank. I don’t blame you, I would if I could, trust me. I would normally ignore (I've ignored A LOT) but people keep wanting to bring me back into everything so I wanted to set a few things straight.
Tumblr media
This is a post made by rainbowdazzle, day before yesterday about me. Hi, I’m the anti. She posted another, much more scathing and hateful rant yesterday but I didn't manage to cap it before she deleted (why? Stick to your guns if you are going to fling them around like this) and I wanted to clear a few things up about this whole ugly ungodly mess.
First, you all should know that Steph and I go way back. Almost two years now we've known each other. We were pretty close, in fandom friendship terms. We shared a Twitter private group chat with a couple of other fandom old timers, back in the day. We were also in another group chat that didn't go so well for Steph. Ask her about it sometime and ask her who had her back then. I lost friends in that chat because I stood up for her. Legitimately went to bat for her when there were people in that group doing to her, exactly what she is doing to me here. (I can search my phone, I'm sure the screencaps of all that mess are buried in there somewhere) But she keeps throwing around the accusation that I threw my friends under the bus and I would like to ask how? Where? When? And what is it she thinks she is doing here?
I changed my mind. That is my biggest crime. I saw some things in Armie that I didn't like and decided he didn’t deserve my stanning heart or time. I also really looked at what I was hoping for, between these people, with lives and families and careers, and didn't like the person that made me. I've been in cheating scenarios personally. It's not fun and it's not good and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. So. I didn't want to be involved in shipping them in real life anymore. If, at some point, they do wind up being a couple, then I will be the first to congratulate them, but until then, it's none of my business. I never tried to convince anyone to think like me and I never was ugly or mean to those that don’t. If you want to ship them, have at it. I don’t. It’s that simple.
True there have been things said in the heat of the moment that I wish I never had said and would take them back if I could. But I never went on an attack. Anything heated that has come from me, has been in defense of myself, in cases like this. If this anon had seen fit not to bring me into any of this (why they did, I would love to know) I would never have thought to make this post. I have my say and I move on. I have moved on.
I never called anyone delusional. I have searched my blog for any reference I made using that term that has become the Charmie battle cry and there is nothing about Charmies I have called delusional. I may believe that some of the ideas I see tossed around are delusional, but I have never called anyone that. Ever. It is not my fault if you read an answer to an anon, or a rare comment I make about any of this and infer I am saying that OR if you somehow recognise yourself in anything I say. That is not my fault. That is not my intention. If you identify or feel anything I say is pointed at YOU that is your problem and maybe you should look at your behavior a little closer. I never call out anyone publicly the way Steph feels the need to do here. Charmies are the ones that feel the need to put my name out there. Still. Even when it's been months since I've had anything to do with any of this.
Anons, stop using me to stir up shit. For all the anons I've received, telling me to move on and leave fandom already, you make it impossible for me to do just that. I'm doing nothing but posting pics of Tim and Harry and my BTS boys, or talking about writing, trying to encourage creative outlets but you all keep beating this dead horse by bringing me into fights I don't even want to have anymore.
As for the PR hullabaloo. Again, my words twisted and taken out of context to use as a weapon against me. It is NOT a lie that I know someone with legit (family) ties to Sony. That is something I am willing to swear on. It is not a lie that the boys were encouraged to hype their friendship during promo. Read that again: they were told to hype their FRIENDSHIP during promo. They couldn't be encouraged to hype something that wasn't there. They are friends. They are close and love one another. I never said it was all fake. Some (Steph) read my comment and took it to the extreme. I was a hater to even mention it. It's a fact. That's all. It doesn't negate anything from promo. It just means they did their job really well because we have no idea where the difference would have been. I only ever mentioned it because I do see Charmie content that goes well  beyond the level in lack of common sense and if some took these things into consideration, maybe the strife and the angst of the failed hope of meet ups in Cannes (or whatever wish Charmies have on a given day) wouldn't be taken so hard by so many. I hoped it would give a measure of lowered expectations if the truth were known. For example, knowing they hyped a bit explains the lack of sm interaction much more easily than they are covering their tracks. This isn’t saying their sm interaction was all fake or for PR, it just offers a different perspective on it. That is it.  But to mention any thing could have been PR related (they would have been stupid not to? It's a business after all!) in the eyes of Charmies is a crime worse than anything else. That's all I'm trying to say and all I meant with any of the stuff I said.
I doubt this post will change anyone's mind about me, but there comes a point, when you see yourself being accused of things you know just aren't true, that you have to speak up.

The NBA All-Star Game showed that the league isn’t just a diversion anymore
NEW ORLEANS — It was impossible to miss the billboards. They were everywhere, staring down from the tallest buildings and keeping a close watch over NBA All-Star Weekend. The message they delivered by way of Nike was simple — that of equality — but the implications were vast and far-reaching.
That we were here and not in Charlotte stood as verifiable proof that the NBA has chosen to take a stand on a social issue. The league had pulled out of North Carolina following the state’s passage of HB2, a discriminatory statute that commissioner Adam Silver said ran counter to the NBA’s values of inclusion and tolerance.
That the league’s most visible corporate sponsor had chosen to reinforce that message at this moment in history, was well, it was something. One can look at the messaging as bold, just as it can be viewed through the cynical prism of playing to their customers’ base.
“Equality is not just athletes,” said LeBron James, who was featured prominently in the campaign. “It’s about the whole human race, every religion, everybody just figuring out how we can all be equal. I think it’s a very, very powerful thing, and I was happy to be part of that.”
It was powerful in the sense that everything right now is political, even affirming the right to exist on a level playing field. Yet its power was tempered by its messenger in that it was just another form of marketing and All-Star Weekend is nothing if not awash in corporate campaigns and branded events. That its recipients were likely to be appreciative of the message made it just another bubble, albeit a bubble with a platform that has not been shy about expressing itself.
“For a long time athletes stayed out of the political sphere out of fear of losing customers,” said Steve Kerr who is coaching the Western Conference All-Stars. “I think it’s refreshing to have athletes who are putting their social agenda, their social beliefs ahead of marketing issues. I think that’s powerful.”
That’s precisely where the NBA finds itself, balancing a line between social values that it says are at the heart of its industry and the reality that it is a multi-billion dollar cooperative bankrolled by huge sums of television dollars and the uber-wealthy. Not every player is a progressive humanist and not every owner is a Randian disciple, but it’s still an awkward fit for a pro sports league to present itself as an altruistic institution that also happens to be in the business of making as much money as possible.
Can it be both?
“I think we’re all conscious of it,” said James Jones, who serves on the NBPA’s Executive Committee. “That’s a part of being in this industry. We are entertainment. Our actions do have ramifications, but that’s the beauty of this league. When guys make a stand, when they say something, they put their money where their mouth is and they understand that.
“At all times we’re about inclusion and respect and autonomy because that’s what makes us so graceful on the court. Our individualism. We’re supportive of our players and we would never suppress or try to deny guys the opportunity to be authentic because we all know being authentic in our business is what sells.”
It’s easy to be cynical. Just as a handful of players and coaches have made their opinions known about a wide variety of social issues in the weeks and months leading up to All-Star Weekend, many who were here wanted nothing to do with it.
“At the end of the day, people are going to say what they want to say,” said Anthony Davis, who was also part of the marketing campaign. “No sports without politics. No politics, no sports. So it kind of goes hand in hand. I don’t really get into it. I stay in my lane and do sports and just go from there.”
If you came here expecting to find a political rally you were instead treated to an impromptu meeting of the flat earth society. That made for a good joke, but if Kyrie Irving was trying to make a larger point on the nature of truth-telling and fact gathering it was lost in translation somewhere along the centrifugal drift.
It is far tougher to be bold. From Kyle Lowry’s blunt talk about the travel ban to Steph Curry taking a shot at one of his endorsers, players and coaches have been among the most vocal opponents of the current administration and its policies. Lowry may be earthy and Curry may be a tad corny, but both offered authentic expressions of dissatisfaction.
In many instances the coaches have gone further. Kerr, as well as Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy, have offered blunt commentaries on a wide range of social and political issues. Even sly jokes about losing streaks and slumps as alternative facts can feel subversive.
“Everybody has a role to play,” Kerr said. “If you’re are a big part of society, if you’re exposed, if you’re in the news, then you play a role. Free speech is one of the principals our country is founded on. I think there’s a responsibility that goes with that if you see injustice. The NBA’s been great in terms of understanding that responsibility and taking action such as moving the All-Star Game from Charlotte to New Orleans.”
Apart from the talking points and the fire quotes, that action represents the truest approximation of the NBA’s willingness to take a stand on principle. The limits of that approach have yet to be resolved, but there are other laws in other states that may provide further litmus tests.
“We’re not involved directly with legislatures,” Silver said in response to a question about similar measures under discussion in Texas. “In terms of laws in other jurisdictions, it’s something we continue to monitor very closely. You know, I’m not ready to draw bright lines. Clearly, though, the laws of the state, ordinances, and cities are a factor we look at in deciding where to play our All-Star Games.”
On the travel ban, Silver came out more forcefully than he had previously. Again there were pragmatic reasons for Silver’s opposition — the NBA does business globally — as well as humanitarian concerns for players who may be affected. There are also deeper philosophical differences that run right into the perception the league has for itself and its game.
“So, government restrictions on travel, I am concerned about,” Silver said. “It goes against the fundamental values and the fundamental ingredients of what make for a great NBA, and that is the very best in the world coming here.”
There have been smaller gestures in terms of community service that are no less important, if not on such a public scale. Those efforts have long been a part of the league’s outreach even if they receive only a smattering of our collective attention. There is also the very real viability of free speech, which is no small consideration in these charged times. It was not lost on anyone here that quote transcriptions provided by the league did not censor political questions as the NFL did during the Super Bowl.
“Our players don’t lose their rights when they become members of the league,” said Michele Roberts, the executive director of the NBPA. “We view the role of the [players’ association] as making sure that there is no effort to infringe their rights, to express themselves when they deem appropriate. The good news is there have been no efforts to suppress expression and I don’t anticipate that there will be. If there is we’ll be ready to push back. I’ll make this point, as well. These are incredibly volatile political times and I firmly anticipate that there will be additional comments made by players.”
The NBA, then, is what you make of it. It’s entertainment for the masses. It’s competition that is packaged and sold in the finest capitalistic traditions. It’s a truly American sporting enterprise that has been exported to the world and brought back more than its share of global dividends and rewards. It’s one of the true bastions of free speech in a world crying out for authentic voices. It’s can be bold and cynical, progressive and retrograde. If you like tragicomic feuds and bizarro conspiracy theories, it’s here for that, as well.
This is the NBA in 2017. It has long had ambitions to exist on a grander stage than the confines of the court itself. It finds itself there now, trying to make sense of a world that is not flat. Its problems are the league’s problems and they will not be solved by marketing and branding slogans, no matter how well intentioned. It may be asking too much of a sports league to offer anything more than a diversion, but it has chosen to play that role, far more than the other American sports. It may even be good for business.

I used to like Stephanie Brown very much but honestly lately her fandom ruined the character for me. They want EVERYTHING to be about her, even when we are talking about a mlm ship they are like "pls don't erase Steph" and I am like??? And literally saying character flaws are not hating on a character, or most people just hating on her because seriously she is so different in comics and fandom, they need to chill the fuck out and not say everyone is misogynistic just because they don't like her
+ and everytime someone says "Cissie and Steph are best friends" just because the new cover of YJ... y'all forgetting Bart and Cassie were Cissie's best friends!!! Sorry I just hate when people force her into everything and then blame timkon fans for being misogynistic just because people don't want her to be on the team because she has no good relationships with the team, that's not misogyny everyone!!! I hate this fandom sometimes
I just want to ask why TimSteph stans are hating on Tim but still shipping him with their fav character? Literally every single TimSteph stan on their tag are posting anti Tim Drake posts, and talking shit about him, but when someone says something bad about Stephanie they are getting mad and acting like everyone is hating women because of other ships??? Can someone pls explain this to me I really want to know the reason
That’s the part of the fandom that I see sometimes and really brings my mood down a lot of the time, because they’re so caught up in their own world sometimes that it drives me nuts.
Before I disliked Damian because his writing is just freaking awful, I began to not like him just from the connotation of his fandom being so obsessed trying to make him something he’s not based off of just a few moments that aren’t even in-character.
With the toxic part of Steph’s fanbase they’re just so obsessed with trying to make her seem like more of this astonishing character. Not to even say she’s a bad character. I still think she’s a good character, but it’s just the limit the obsessive part of her fandom goes to, just to convince people she’s so great. Sometimes they just exaggerate stuff or just lie so much because they seem to be under the belief that if she’s not incredible as a person that she’s unlikable, but then, why do they like her.
I think that part of her fandom comes from people projecting on her so much that they begin to become defensive of everything she does to the point it feels obsessive.
“OH SHE HAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL RELATIONSHIP WITH BRUCE BECAUSE *says a very simple thing that they say in way too many words that give the complete wrong connotation of the actual events to make Stephanie seem more impressive*”
“SHE HAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL RELATIONSHIP WITH DAMIAN THAT NEEDS TO BE ADMIRED MORE BECAUSE completely ignores how Damian was a total pervert and a body shamer to ridicule her. Which isn’t a relationship to admire at all. Along with people constantly taking out of context some of the things she did with him, and how it was another case of a writer ignoring Damian’s problem to woobify him. Which makes the issue poorly written. But we must exaggerate it to make Steph seem like a saint apparently.”
This type of fandom stuff bugs me no matter the character.
I remember not that long ago I kept seeing posts that were exaggerating Tim so much, and it bugged the ever-living crap out of me.
Because sorry, but, I don’t care what Red Robin says. Tim could not beat up all those assassins.
I don’t even honestly believe Tim’s a master tactitian. He’s just smart and clever, he isn’t this war general figure.
I don’t care that a comic says that Tim could trick Bruce with a fake Uncle.
Given the way he was built up as a character, that stuff just doesn’t work. That wasn’t anything that was actually developed for his character. It was something they tacked on in what I assume was attempts to make Tim “cool”, because DC doesn’t like relatable characters.
Which is a bit rich because Sideways, a character written by Didio himself, just feels like a knock-off Ultimate Spider-Man with the tone and character-style.
So I don’t want to give the impression that I think everyone in the Stephanie Brown fandom is an obsessive loon, or toxic as could be, because I don’t believe that to be the case. The toxic part of her fandom is just something that has arisen. Something that happens in all fandoms at one point or another. Now is just Stephanie’s go at it I guess. Even if it seems to be from just a few over vocal people, that people gave too much attention because I guess they liked having their fav be overly praised.
The people that say you’re misogynistic if you don’t ship TimSteph are just stupid honestly. At least about that.
If you ship TimKon, it makes no sense to include Steph in posts about it. Unless it’s like, just mentioning how Tim used to date her. Which I don’t feel is a big enough reason to act like people are misogynistic, because, even if say I shipped Tim with another girl. Id be awkward to talk about Steph. We don’t need to shove Steph into everything.
I don’t say the word stupid like I think they’re stupid at everything.
I call myself stupid when it comes to a lot of stuff for an example, but the argument that you’re misogynistic if you think of Tim as gay is stupid, because there’s enough of Tim for so long were it’s easy to interrupt him as gay, and it’s not misogynistic.
You don’t hate women if you’re gay, or anything like that.
That’s homophobic.
If you still think Tim is straight, congrats, I’m not upset. I’m not upset people ship TimSteph. One of my best friends ships TimSteph and she’s writing a wonderful fic.
I’m not even against TimSteph at all.
Just that stupid part of that fandom.
Like Stephanie Brown has flaws right? She flirted with Tim when she knew he had a girlfriend, even kissing him. Reckless as could be. Took things the wrong way. Made Tim straight up uncomfortable with her flirting sometimes. Had a problem with listening even when it was beneficial to her safety. She also had a trust problem when her and Tim’s relationship got into it.
Some of you are probably thinking “Well Tim has flaws too. She had her reasons.”
And you know what?
I agree.
Because that’s how freaking characters work.
Tim’s sheltered childhood made him insensitive to certain situations. He was immature to the point of detriment to his relationship with Ariana in some situations. Too naive to understand some things. Even too bossy because he’s a cruddy leader and didn’t know how to communicate enough for that job.
He’s not a perfect human.
Characters can have flaws, and it’s okay, because that’s how we get interesting stories and dynamics between stuff. Just because Tim has flaws, doesn’t mean he’s not a good person. He’s kind, caring, heroic, despite his immaturity. Just because Tim couldn’t handle the topic of cheating and became immature doesn’t mean he didn’t step up to the plate and try to help Ariana when she was close to being sexually assaulted and she was a bit mentally unstable (that might be strong wordage, but I use those words for myself when a situation hits. So it’s not me talking down about her situation) for a bit.
When you were raised in a mad house, it’s understandable she’d grow up to be reckless. She grew up so independent at a young age, because her parents certainly weren’t taking care of her. It’s also understandable that she has trust issues, because if you’re dating someone with a second life, you would worry that they’re cheating on you.
This is just how characters work
So these posts that wanna pretend she doesn’t have flaws, bugs me, because they want to deny her character sometimes.
Then acting like she’d just be best friends with everyone is freaking delusional. It’s the kind of stuff where it’s done in the vein of “peppy fangirl”, but it just becomes a bit obsessive. I think that’s stuff were my theory on some of those types of fans projecting on her for their own good come in.
I can get, being like “I wonder if these characters would get along”, but getting so hyper and exaggatory is just wack.
I think Tim and Jon would get along and could be good friends now that Jon’s older, but if they were in a comic together I’m not gonna get myself worked up and pretend things are were they clearly aren’t.
Even in the case of Cissie and Steph, I actually feel like they would be pretty good friends together. I can easily see that. But just cuz they’re on a cover together doesn’t mean they’re best friends
And if somehow Steph brought Cissie out to be Arrowette, that’d just be stupid. I don’t know how Steph would even know who Cissie is, because I don’t know if she even knows Arrowettes name is Cissie, let alone in this timeline. Plus Cissie last seen wasn’t a hero. So that’d just be some super cheap and forced writing.
But given the write circumstances, that actually work and make sense, I wouldn’t be against that. If they became friends, I’d be totally cool with it.
It’s that weird obsessive “THEY’RE BEST FRIENDS OH MY GOSH” that’s just a bit unnerving. Like settle down.
Write some fan fics, I really don’t care, but it gives me the vibes of those boyband fandoms that wanna act like their fav is dating some hot chick cuz he looked at her.
It’s less worse than that, cuz those are real people, but it’s that obsessive vibe that I get from it.
I don’t like it.
As for TimSteph shippers that hate Tim. I think it’s because it’s for a similar reason some people make all those posts overexaggerating or lying about so much stuff about Steph.
It’s to get her attention.
They know that Steph’s almost always only gonna show up because writers attach her with Tim almost exclusively, and that may be the only way she’ll show up. So I think they’re doing that, to get some kind of attention so Steph will show up at least with Tim, cuz something is better than nothing.
Although personally, I root for Steph finally hanging out with other characters, because seeing her relegated to just “Tim’s girlfriend” is very annoying, cuz even in the 90s she was more than that. She wasn’t created just to date Tim. She was created to be her own dang character.
