so, hypothetically, if i was to write a fic or seven in which xanatos and dooku don’t fall, obi-wan is slightly less neglected, qui-gon is less of a bastard (i’m talking about legends, don’t @ me qui-gon stans), jaster meerel doesn’t get offed and jango is a lot less on board with child murder (but the clones still exist, because i said so), galidraan is a little less of a shitshow, the kryze sisters aren’t fucking extremists, and shmi may not die... what would be the reaction

Cynical Parents
Oneshot Masterlist Anakin Skywalker x Reader x Padme Amidala Warnings: Mentions of mental illness. Word Count: 983 A/N: @shads121 for the inspiration.
Obi-Wan had sensed the danger in the future to come. Seen flashes of Anakin on a planet made of fire, his eyes glowing yellow as he holds an open hand out for Padme's neck, tears rolling down her face as you lay dead on the floor. Neck snapped. The one thing Obi-Wan had a sure memory of was Padme's declaration of love and the child she carried. Then Obi-Wan faced a choice, hide his friend's secret and face the possible destruction of all he loved or tell the council and save his friend from the danger he was on the path to. It was then that the answer was simple, tell the council and face the guilt. Anakin's exile was immediate. He was forced to turn in his lightsaber and never practise the Jedi Code again.
That was about two weeks ago and now Anakin was the most depressed you had ever seen him, everything seemed to have hit him at once. The loss of his mother, Ahsoka and now, the Jedi. Obi-Wan had stopped by a few times, but Anakin didn’t want to see him, he felt as if he had been betrayed by his best friend or more so, his brother. A few weeks later Grevious was captured and the war turned in favour of the Republic. Soon after news of Count Dooku's death and the reveal of the sith master hit.
Palpatine's betrayal only worsened Anakin's health and both you and Padme were stuck for what to do. Neither you nor Padme needed to be on Coruscant anymore and everything on the planet served as a reminder to Anakin that he was no longer a Jedi so as it seemed, the best decision was to leave for Naboo. Padme, of course, was delighted to see that you all agreed and she could properly introduce you and Anakin to her family and friends without fear of the council finding out.
All that had led up to you lying in Anakin’s embrace on the Planet of Naboo in a luxurious suite with a king-sized bed. Padme had got up several hours before to do something you weren’t sure of and definitely wouldn’t understand the point of it. You turned around in his arms so your head was on his chest. Anakin mumbled in his sleep, burying his face into the top of your head. You sighed in content, enjoying the few moments of peace where Anakin was happy.
“Y/N!” the doors flew open, banging as they hit the wall. Anakin groaned at the loud noise, picking the pillow from underneath him and covering his face and ears from the light and sound. You blinked the sleep from your eyes and pried yourself from your husband's embrace. Padme stood in the massive doorway, hair looking slightly tousled but still impossibly beautiful. “Your parents are here and they want to have lunch with us.” your eyes widened and Anakin removed the pillow from his head.
“They’re where?” you repeated, hopeful she had misspoken.
“Here,”
“Shit,” the one-worded curse was all you needed to get your emotions across.
“Shit,” Anakin echoed in the same spooked tone.
You pulled the covers from your legs, padding to the bathroom while yawning. “Why now? They barely call me,” you huffed as you splashed water in your face.
“They probably heard about your moving,” Padme shrugged as she moved to sit on the bed. “You’d be surprised how fast news travels.” You groaned as you shoved a toothbrush in your mouth and made your way out of the bathroom to the closet for some form of formal wear to greet your parents in.
“Ani, you gotta get up, I want you to meet my folks,” you said, throwing a fancy robe with pants and a belt onto the bed for him to change into. He just groaned and rolled over in bed.
“Me and your father, we don’t especially approve of your lifestyle.” your mother casually brings up as you’re seated for lunch. You choke on the food you had just tried to swallow, punching your chest as you attempted to free your oesophagus. Once your throat was clear and you had some water you turned to her.
“What lifestyle, mother?” you asked, a creepily calm smile on your face. Your mother blushed slightly as the corners of her lips tilted upwards in an awkward smile.
“You know, you and…” she trails off, “Anakin.”
“Because he’s from Tatooine and a former slave?” you said, eyes widening once you released what your mother was insinuating. The entire time your father had sat slightly, staring at his food. “Is this what you think too, Dad?” you said, turning on him.
“I think your mother has a point,” he mumbles.
“What?! That Anakin isn’t poncy and rich enough for me?!” you growled.
“Y/N it’s okay,” Anakin said, placing a hand on your forearm.
“No it’s fucking not,” you said, looking at your parents' shocked faces and the obscenity left your lips. This is my wife and this is my husband. Not yours so you don’t get a say in it. Anakin has been through enough shit in the last five years and he does NOT need your shitty right-wing opinion on whether he’s the right class for me. This is Padme’s planet and you’re our guests, you don’t fucking like it then leave.” you finished, leave your mother’s face ghost-like and your father’s turning comedically red with anger.
“Don’t talk to your mother like that,” your father warned.
“Like what?” you scoffed, “An equal?” Steam was practically coming out of his ears at this point. “I’m leaving now, there is still a room for you if you want to stay,” you turned to Anakin and Padme, “I’ll be in the bedroom if wanna come,” Anakin stood from his seat, the chair making a harsh noise against the wooden floor. “Bye mother, father.”

Just Out of Reach
Paring: Anakin Skywalker x Reader
Word count: 1.3K
Warnings: none
Request: Short Jedi reader in a relationship w Anakin and he teases her because of her height - anon
A/N: Looks like we’re getting another shorter one today! Here’s that fluff I owe you @sithmyass
Masterlist
-----------------------------
Your eye’s scanned up and down the data that rested in your right hand; a fresh cup of caffe in the other. You liked to indulge in a good novel from time to time and it was only in the mornings that you had time to read. You were so caught up in the story of a young smuggler that you didn’t hear Anakin walk up behind you.
He leaned over your sitting body, his chin resting on the top of your head. “Morning, princess,” he mumbled, still half asleep. His arms draped themselves around your shoulders and held you in a tight yet warm embrace.
“Good morning, Ani.” You take a sip of the caffe. The liquid burning as it ran down your throat. As the warmth spread down your chest you couldn’t help but smile.
His fingertips gently grasped the top of your mug and pulled it from your hand. Not expecting it the cup easily left your grip. “Now what do we have here?” He stood up leaving you to whip around in your seat and reach for the mug. All he had to do to avoid your grasping hand was step back. He raised the cup to his lips and swallowed a large gulp of the contents; a teasing smirk never leaving his lips.
“Give that back!” You lunged forward only to have your plans foiled when Anakin’s hand shot straight up, the mug raised above his head.
His smirk was only growing, “Only if you can reach it.”
“You know I can’t.” Even after your response you still tried. You stood up on your toes and stretched your upper body as much as you possibly could, but to no avail; the tips of your fingers just short of his wrist.
In response, Anakin stretched his arm out furthering the distance between you and your caffe. “Having a hard time there, princess?” he teased, one brow cocked slightly.
You glared up at him, despite all your stretching your eyes still nowhere near level with his. “Obviously.” You hop slightly. Your fingers finally able to fell the mug but unable to get a proper hold. “You don’t plan on doing this all day, do you? Because we definitely have a mission today,” you hissed.
His free hand took hold of your waist, “No, it’s just so much fun to tease you that I need to take every chance I get.” He dipped his head down a gave you a quick and sweet kiss. Much to your dismay, he was still able to keep the mug just out of reach. He stepped away from you and before you could reach of the mug again he downed what was left of the caffe.
Your lips pursed in a slight pout. After all that he had drunk it anyway. He laughed and took you back in his arms. “I’ll make you more while you get dressed,” he promised, placing a kiss on your forehead. His arms dropped down to his side and he slipped into the kitchen, leaving you to get ready.
-------------------------------------------------------
Much later you found yourself army-crawling up the side of a large hill, Anakin at your side. “Does the council really think the separatists set up a temporary base here? It doesn’t look like anyone has set foot on this planet for years,” you grumbled. The constant mud and large swarms of bugs were starting to get on your nerves.
“All the more reason for us to believe General Grevious set up shop here,” whispered your companion. Upon reaching the crest of the hill Anakin pulled out a pair of binoculars. It only took him a few moments to spot the base. “It’s right over there,” he said, his finger pointing into the distance, “It looks like it should be fairly easy to infiltrate.”
You took the binoculars from him and held them up to face. Through them, you were able to make out the base. It was small and relatively obscured by the dense rain forest that covered most of the planet. From this distance, proper security seemed to be lacking. “It doesn’t look like they have much security, at least on the outside. The hardest part will be finding it once we’re back in the forest.”
You both snuck down the way you had come, careful to keep your presence a secret. Navigating the rain forest did prove difficult; the vegetation quite dense. But after an hour of suffering through bug bites and more short jokes you made it to your destination.
While the base was larger than it had semed it was still small. It didn’t take you and Anakin long to make a loop a of the perimeter; taking note of any droids and spaces to enter through. In the end, you settled on an out of the way window.
You craned your neck in an effort to get a glimpse of what was on the other side. Anakin leaned down, his body pressing against yours and a smirk on his lips, “Need a boost?”
You glared at him and your voice picked up an annoying edge, “No, I don’t need a boost. Maker, Anakin. I’m not that short.”
“I don’t know,” he teased, “I swear I’ve seen porgs taller than you. ”
You didn’t even spare him a glance before jumping up into the large window.
The rest of the mission went better than either of you expected and contained far less teasing. In fact, Anakin managed to keep any quip about your height to himself until you were back at the Jedi temple telling Obi-wan of your Success.
“So as you can see Master,” Anakin continued, “that base won’t be causing us any more problems.”
Obi-wan thoughtful stroked his beard before favouring you both with a smile. “It always surprises me how well you work together, considering you almost constant childish teasing.”
“I don’t see what you mean Master,” replied Anakin with an all too familiar teasing lilt to his voice. I moments his elbow was comfortably resting on the top of your head.
You swatted at his arm but he wasn’t budging. He had done this far too many times to count and it always drove you crazy. He knew it too. But he claimed that you made to perfect of an armrest for him to ignore. “Oh, he’d never tease me,” you added sarcastically.
“You two should be careful,” started Obi-wan with a chuckle, “if you keep flirting like that someone might assume you’re in a relationship.”
Anakin just laughed as he grabbed your arm and pulled you out of the small room. “What are the odds he knows?” He asks quietly.
You punch in the keycode to your room and stepped through the door Anakin close behind you. “If he knows I don’t think he cares.” You shrug off your outer robes and place them neatly on your bed. “Now can we talk about all the teasing?”
“What about it?”
You move to stand directly in front of him, “It drives me crazy Anakin; absolutely insane.”
He takes a step forward and pulls you into a tight embrace. “I only tease you because I love you,” a smile gracing his lips as he spoke.
“Really?” you mumbled skeptically. You tried to step back but his arms held you in place.
“Definitely,” he mused. “If you were too much taller I wouldn’t be able to do this,” his nose buried itself in your hair and his chin rested gently against your forehead.
“Is that all?” you ask with a quiet laugh.
His lips pressed against your hair as he thought, “for the moment.”
You rolled your eyes and relaxed into his embrace; your forehead coming to rest against his chest. “So does that mean you’ll stop teasing me?”
“Not a chance princess.”

Cal Fic: As I Lay Dying...
It’s funny the things that go through your head as you’re dying.
The finality of it hits Cal and he feels a sudden realisation of complete clarity. So this is what it’s like mixed with the roaring screaming of nerve endings and his heart stuttering and fluttering in his chest as he feels himself choking on his own blood. He hadn’t seen this coming. He honestly hadn’t.
He’d spent much of his 33 years wondering if people knew on the day they died, if on some level they felt something different, something afoot. Ellison’s boots disappear and Cal lies in a puddle of rainwater and his own disappearing blood. He tries to think. No they don’t know. He didn’t. Nothing amiss today. Your regular Thursday shift work, no evidence jumped out at him proclaiming this would be his last day on earth. He knows it is though. He can feel it in each laboured breath, in the copper on his tounge, sliding down his throat. His chest rattles. Pneumothorax. He’s pretty sure the knife pierced his lung, if not the first time then definitely the second.
‘Please don’t let Ethan find me’ he thinks. ‘Please’. ‘Oh Ethan. I’m so sorry’ he thinks. ‘I’m so sorry I can’t be here to look after you Nibbles, forgive me.’
And suddenly he lets himself shake and give into the pain because it’s more than he’s felt in his whole life and he knows he’s in shock and doesn’t even know the worst of it. It’s heroic he supposes. Could have been a worse death, but he’s suddenly very aware he’s never going to turn 34. Never going to tease his brother again, never treat another patient, drink another pint, see another sunrise. This is it for Caleb Knight. Oh god this is it. And Ethan…oh poor Ethan, he’s going to be left all alone, and what about when he gets ill? What about then, who looks out for him then?
Cal tries as hard as he can to roll himself over but everything’s starting to go dark now, the edge of his vision begins to fade. He tries to think of the last thing he said to Ethan, right before he sent him off to Alicia, was it something memorable? Or something stupid? It’s disappearing, everything’s disappearing.
He wishes he wasn’t alone. Wishes his brother was with him right now and it’s selfish and it’s pathetic maybe but Cal needs him more than he’s ever needed anyone in his life and he wants his brother. His phone lies opposite and where he’s lying he can see it swallowed up by rainy puddles in the night. It lights up green. ‘Ethan’.
Cal can’t make his arm move, he can’t make anything move. He wills it, tries so hard but he’s lost too much blood, too much time. The hospital looks so different from down here he thinks. And then he’s back with his mom, pushing Ethan’s buggy over the hill by their house, ‘sing to him Caleb, sing to your brother…’ and he’s holding Matilda, he’s rocking her, kissing her sweet baby forehead, under her chin and making her smile. He can feel the wind in his hair as he holds Emilie as she dies overlooking the beach, ‘and Cal and I will be doddery old men by then, Cal’s on his fourth wife…but we come back every year and we look out at the sea and we say ‘here’s to you mum’. Then Ethan, Ethan at 2, Ethan at 15 all silly horn rimmed glasses and stammer, ‘leave me alone Caleb’, Ethan at 22 in med school, Ethan angry ‘what are you doing here?’ ‘I’m the locum’, Ethan hurt ‘who looks out for me Caleb’, Ethan punching him ‘it’s about you Cal, it’s always about you.’ Ethan fighting for him ‘nobody touches my brother…’ Rock paper scissors, and Ethan’s stupid decision to always go with scissors. The look in his little brother’s eyes when he fixes you with that gaze ‘i’m always going to look at you and think ‘yeah that’s my brother’. ‘Yeah and you’ve got me for life Nibbles’.
He has, he always will.
A tear makes its way down Cal’s cheek. Ok. He thinks. Ok Caleb.
He’s not a religious man. He doesn’t know if there’s anything else out there. He’s a realist, a cynic even and he’s not making it here. He’s a doctor too and that part knows the grevious nature of the wounds. He feels his life leaving him. Suddenly there’s movement and the sky that was beginning to be swallowed up in black gives way to blurry shapes. Someone is shouting, moving, it’s blurry, just shapes and blur but he likes to think it’s Ethan. Ethan coming to hold him.
‘It’s ok Nibbles’ he tries to say but nothing comes out but a garbled moan and what he imagines to be a fair amount of blood. ‘It’s ok, I’m ok.’ Someone grabs his hand. Someone holds it in their own, there are hands on him, the blurs stretch in and out, infinite and colourful even in their fade and Cal thinks it’s almost the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen. Maybe it’s Ethan, maybe it’s Emilie or his Mom, but they are beautiful and as his eyes close for the final time he has one thought on his mind. ‘My safety net’s here’.
Charlie keeps pressure on the horrific mess that is Cal’s chest, next to him Connie’s on her knees in the rain both of them frantic, staring at the young man in horror bleeding out before them.
‘Keep those eyes open Cal’ Charlie shouts, ‘come on Cal stay with us’.
Cal’s too far gone though, he looks up at Charlie like he’s not seeing him, or seeing someone else and when his eyes close there’s a ghost of a smile on his face as his chest stops moving. Charlie’s seen it all working at Holby he’s lost people young and old, brutally, and slowly. This one feels the most wrong.
Somewhere nearby in a puddle Cal’s phone is ringing. Charlie can just make out the word ‘Nibbles’ on the screen.
Connie runs to get help. Charlie does the only thing he can do. He holds Cal’s hand and sits with him in the rain.

A Coming Dawn Pt. I
OOC: For my followers wondering where the heck is Shang! ** In the darkness of another day, the sun yet to blight his eyes, the returning presence held the well beaten Tarkatan in the air. Amusing how Shao Kahn praised these barbaric mutants of personification to the phrase 'teeth and claw', but look at this one; struggling to fight still with broken teeth and one hand tightly squeezing at its jugular in a tiger clawed grip. The fight with it and it's party was good, but times of leisure was at a end. With one swift punch at its already bloody snout, the sheer force of his rejuvenating power threw the Tarkatan from his grip. Leaving nothing but its bloody hyoid between his curled fingers. The creature gurgling barely able screams of pain and hands groping madly to keep the blood and sinew in its torn throat. The sorcerer only laughed dully, even sadism can become boring at times. Tossing the bone aside to join the number of pale, dried husks behind him, he made one stride before suddenly somersaulting through the air and stamped his heel straight through knuckles and used their own bones to pierce through the rest of the mutant's throat to nape. The body twitched madly in rebelling nerves. Tarkatans had that unusual fortitude to keep fighting, even after grevious wounds. Without the brain to give conscious action and spots in the spine pulverized, this happened. The heel kept it's place to keep the body still while thrusting his bloodied hand out. "Your soul is mine." And it was...
