Hello hello! I just read your writings about Pokémon and it inspired me to make a request if that's okay!
May I request some fic with Raihan and Reader who has a team of, like, really intimidating Pokémon? But they are actually are big softies? Just a happy lil' Scolipede with a little bow munching some berries! Or even Slither Wing that crawls towards the toys like a kitten, pheh-
That's okay if you decline! Take your time, I can wait ^^
Have a good day/night!
-✒️ Anon
"C'mon, Rai! I have some friends from Paldea who are dying to meet you!"
"Oh are they, huh?" Raihan raised an eyebrow, exchanging a brief glance with his Duraludon. But they both did their best to keep up with you as you rushed to your campsite, excited.
For the first time since he's met you, he was finally going to see your main Pokémon team. You briefly mentioned having some from Paldea, but a few were from this region, as well as Kalos. Based on your history of winning lots of tournaments, Raihan could only assume you had a lot of very strong Pokémon with diverse typing to help you adapt to any situation.
You haven't battled anybody in Galar yet, so he wasn't sure what to expect. He was looking forward to today.
Upon arriving to the camp, however, he's....quite surprised.
All of your Pokémon were ones notorious for being highly aggressive and intimidating, but he quickly realized how tranquil and pacifist each of them seemed. They weren't sparring nor scowling at one another.
If anything, they acted sort of...cute?
He spotted a large Scolipede, the archnemesis of all Centiskortches...happily snacking on berries with a tiny Sizzlipede resting on their back, sharing the bowl. And amusingly enough, Raihan could see you adorned the vicious poison/bug's horn with a cute little bow, which it didn't seem to mind at all.
Then he saw a Volcarona...except it looked a lot fluffier and was crawling on all fours, its wings folded upwards like some sail. Not to mention it looked gigantic, as though it belonged to the same ancient time period as Tyrantrum and all the other fossil Pokémon.
"Is that some kind of Paldean variant?" The dragon tamer pointed to the Volcarona lookalike.
"Oh! Well..yes and no. That's my darling Slither Wing, a supposed ancestor of Volcaronas. They look scary, but they're sweet on the inside. Just watch this." Smiling, you took out the feather toy and shook it around, the tiny jingling bells making Slither Wing turn their attention to you.
With a happy chitter, they scampered over to you, before standing up on their hindlegs and towering over both you and Raihan. He jumped back with a small shriek, throwing his hands up in front of him.
"Woah what the-?!! Back up, buddy!!"
Sensing its trainer's distress, Duraludon hissed at the potential challenger.
Yet Slither Wing seemed blissfully unaware of the threat they posed, their focus being fully on the feather dangling in front of them. They gently batted it with their front paws, delighted at the jingling noise the bells made.
"Sorry." You laughed a little, feeding them a berry before setting the toy down. "They get excited easily." Then you rested a hand on their fluffy chest, to which they flopped to the ground, allowing you to rub their belly. "Awwh, who's a good Slither Wing? It's you~!"
Raihan blinked several times, awkwardly putting his hands back down as he stared at you, watching you baby this fierce-looking Volcarona. He would've thought you were talking to a Yamper or Growlithe.
Looking elsewhere, he saw a Pokémon who appeared similar to a Bisharp, except it was bulkier, resembled a samurai, and was....somehow sitting on its own hair???
Upon closer examination he could see it had some flowers in said hair, put there by the cutesy wild fairy and grass Pokémon that have gathered around it. It seemed to be telling them a story, smiling all the while...which was very unlike the serious Bisharp lineage.
You noticed where Raihan was looking and smiled, whistling for Kingambit. It glanced over and headed to you, being able to move without standing up at all.
"King?"
"Your majesty." You stood and bowed to it in respect, before turning to your friend. "Rai, this is Bisharp's final evolution, Kingambit He had to best three other Bisharps wearing leader's crests in order to evolve, so he's pretty strong."
"It took beating three?" He raised an eyebrow. "That's pretty specific. How didja figure that one out?"
"....well how did you figure out how to evolve a Galarian Yamask into Runerigus?"
"...touché." He clicked his tongue, before glancing at Kingambit again, who seemed to be admiring the flowers in its hair. Then he slowly took out his rotomphone to snap a picture of it--
"Gamb.."
Tensing, Raihan saw the dark/steel type glaring daggers into his soul, and he gulped, nervously put his phone back into his pocket. "M-My bad..uh...I just...."
However, Kingambit's menacing look suddenly vanished, replaced with a cheeky smile as it chuckled. And only then did the dragon tamer realize the fairy and grass Pokémon were gathered nearby, giggling as well.
"Awh, did King scare the "almighty Dragon Tamer"?" You teased, seeing how flustered he was getting.
"What? Of course not! What are you talking about?" He quickly shook his head, offering you a sharp-toothed grin of reassurance. "I don't fear anything!"
"..Tyran!"
Raihan turned his head to see a Tyranitar stomping on over to you, wearing a mega bracelet similar to yours. He recalled you mentioning that you've mastered Mega Evolution.
But of all the Pokémon to choose from, it just had to be his ace's number one natural rival??? He'd hate to see how that would go down on a battlefield..
'Mega Tyranitar against G-Maxed Duraludon...sounds like a good movie title..' He mused, before snapping out of his thoughts and sighing, watching you coo over the dark/rock type--just like you did Slither Wing.
His concerned looks caught your attention, as you just huffed in growing annoyance, cradling Tyranitar's head in your arms. "Rai, relax. My friends here don't have a single mean bone in their bodies."
"I find that hard to believe. Plus my Duraludon hates Tyranitars...isn't that right......?"
However, he trailed off upon realizing that his trusty Duraludon was no longer by his side, instead hobbling over to greet your Tyranitar. "Du....Duraludon?" He blinked stupidly.
"Tar!!"
"Ludon!!!"
Raihan could only gawk as the two gently butted heads, amazed that they weren't at each other's throats. Instead, Tyranitar encouraged it to come play with the bouncy ball near the curry pot, and the steel/dragon followed them without hesitation.
Soon enough, Scolipede, Slither Wing, and Kingambit went to join the fun, leaving the dragon tamer utterly speechless as he realized his initial assumptions about your team were wrong. "Wow...."
"Yeah." Laughing softly, you patted his back as he stood there, shoulders still slumped. "So do you believe me now?"
"...I do. I'll never doubt you again."

Fixing Kalos gym leaders & elite 4
It's no secret that Pokemon X and Y are very easy games and part of the reason is that the bosses are pretty underwhelming. So as a thought experiment, I decided to examine how to power them up my upgrading their teams. I think that the gym leaders should showcase the new Pokemon and gimmicks of their region, so I'll be taking that into account. I also want all the leavers and E4 to have a proper 6-member postgame rematch team so I'll be doing those too. I will be restricting my choices of Pokemon to those available in X and Y.
First is Viola, the bug-type leader. 2 Pokemon is a good team size for a first gym leader as they're the introduction to gyms for new players. I think Viola's team is alright for a first gym. Surskit prevents you from sweeping with a fire-type (possibly the first and only time in the franchise a Surskit has been useful) and Vivillon to showcase the regional bug is good. If you want to upgrade her, swapping Surskit for Dwebble would serve the same purpose, but arguably be better at it. It could also have a ground-type move to keep players from sweeping with Pikachu. For her rematch team she can keep Vivillon, but will not be keeping Masquerain as two mediocre bug-flying types is not great for a rematch team. Her rematch team will be Vivillon, Crustle (who can set up stealth rocks to counter flying types), Escavalier (as a good bug/steel type who gets overshadowed by Scizor), Heracross, Scolipede, and Mega Pinsir. By the postgame, all the rematch teams can safely have a mega-evolving ace.
Next is Grant, the rock-type leader. His team is really cool with it being the two Kalos fossils. Two members is a bit weak given how long you have to play to get to his gym, so he'll get a third member. In keeping with the fossil theme, this third Pokemon will be Aerodactyl, who is also available to players by this point in the game. His postgame team will be Auroros, Tyrantrum, Aggron, Barbaracle (to counter ground-types), Tyranitar, and Mega Aerodactyl.
The third gym leader is Korrina the fighting-type leader. Her in-game team is notorious for being sweepable by any ghost type as only her Machoke has a move that isn't either normal or fighting type. That needs to change. Her Hawlucha can stay, but I'm swapping her Machoke out for a Pangoro to counter ghosts and to showcase a gen VI fighting-type. Her ace will be a mega-evolving Lucario. This fits with the story as Korrina is the one who introduces the player to mega evolution and streamlines the game by having her show mega evolution to you in her gym battle instead of a separate battle that is incredibly easy to win. Her rematch team will be Hawlucha, Pangoro, Toxicroak, No Guard Machoke, Pure Power Medicham, and Mega Lucario.
Next is Ramos, the grass-type leader. At this point I'm going to ignore the fact that X and Y only let gym leaders have 3 Pokemon. By this point in the game, players can handle more of a challenge. I'm going to evolve his Weepinell to Victreebel and have it act as a poison spikes and leech seed setter. Then he'll have Trevenant, Ludicolo (to counter fire-types), and his ace will be Mega Venusaur. His rematch team will be Victreebel, Ferrothorn, Ludicolo, Rotom Mow, Chesnaught, and Mega Venusaur.
Clemont, the electric-type leader is next. I think his canon team isn't that bad. I'll keep Magneton and Heliolisk, swap his Emolga for a Lanturn, and his ace will be Mega Ampharos. For his rematch team he will have Magnezone, Heliolisk, Lanturn, a Rotom that will change type randomly each rematch, Jolteon, and Mega Ampharos.
Valarie was pretty lame for being the gym leader to showcase the brand-new fairy type. Let's fix that. She can keep Mr. Mime and lead with it to set up screens. She can also keep Sylveon as it was the face of the fairy type. Then she'll have Florges and her ace will be Mega Mawile. Her rematch team will be Mr. Mime, Sylveon, Florges, Huge Power Azumarill, Klefki, and Mega Mawile.
The Psychic-type leader Olymoia has a really cool gym design, but she's no Sabrina in terms of difficulty. She can keep her Sigilyph, but the rest of her team will change. She will have Contrary Malamar, Alakazam, and Mega Medicham. Her rematch team will be Contrary Malamar, Gardevoir, Alakazam, Starmie, Sigilyph, and Mega Medicham.
Ice as a late-game gym leader tye is always a hard sell and Wulfric is no Candice. I'm going to increase his team to five and give him Cloyster, Mamoswine, Weavile, Avalugg, and mega Abomasnow. His rematch team will add Jynx to that lineup.
The elite four will all have their teams increase to five members and will all get a mega evolution for their ace.
Malva's team is not bad, but it could be better. She can keep her Torkoal and have it use Sunny day for setup (Torkaol didn't get Drought as an ability yet) and she can keep her Chandelure and get Gale Wings on her Talonflame. Her team will then include Rotom heat and Mega Charizard X. Her rematch team will add a Delphox to all that.
Siebold is probably the only really challenging member of the Kalos E4. I also really like the theme of edible animals in his team and want to keep that around, so the only change I'll make is adding a Mega Blastoise as his ace for a final team of Clawitzer, Starmia, Barbaracle, Gyarados, and Blastoise. His rematch team will then get a Greninja.
Wikstrom's team is also pretty good. I'll swap his Probopass out for a Bisharp and give him Mega Aggron. I will swap his Aegislash for Magnezone as I'm going to use Aegislash later and don't want to double-up for the E4. His final team is Klefki, Bisharp, Scizor, Magnezone, and Aggron. His rematch team will give him back Aegislash.
Drasna's team doesn't need much work either. I'll swap her Altaria for a Kingdra and Druddigon for Haxorus, Keep Dragalge and Noivern, and give her Mega Garchomp as an ace. Her rematch team will add Salamence.
Diantha was infamous as one of the weaker champions until Geeta came along. I do like that most of her team are new Pokemon and will keep that in mind. Her Mega Gardevoir ace can stay, as can Goodra and Hawlucha. From there I'll add Contrary Malamar and Aegislash. As for her 6th team member, I might cheat a bit and give her Zygarde 10% form. The Zygarde 10 and 100% forms didn't debut in the games until gen VII, but their appearance in the anime showed that they were already planned out and likely would have showed up in the cancelled Pokemon Z. This could be the player's first introduction to Zygarge and could lead into a postgame sidequest to get Zygarge 50% with Diantha's help. If you don't want to use Zygarde 10%, then Greninja would also work.
Let me know what you thought of these revised teams. I may also do this for some other generations (I have thoughts about a revised Geeta team)

So… I finished the Kalos anime. I like Pokémon, I posted about it in general, and not the show before, because I’m grown, but… ok, I’ve heard some stuff about it, and I had the Pokémon TV app because they also have the movies and sometimes you need a free Pokémon movie?
I… did not expect it to be like THAT. I did not expect a 6-part, borderline-Xenoblade-style finale in terms of length and how balls-to-the-wall it was.
-Serena reminded me a lot of someone close to me I lost a year and a half ago. It’s bittersweet, but mostly sweet. I like seeing parts of him in her. And they kissed! They had a gd Airport Kiss at the end!
-Ash had a good team? I mean… some of those moves are questionable but he had a good team! Never mind that Greninja, Goodra and Talonflame are all on the same X team I need every play through. Also, they all had their own story arcs!
-I didn’t watch the Mega Evolution 4-parter. And yes, I was confused as to what’s going on with Alain (let alone that bizarre outfit), and Marin and Chespie up until they said “Oh, Chespie ingested some Zygarde cells and went into a coma… and also started glowing”. I still don’t know why it looks like Alain shit his pants.
-I liked Sawyer, having a rival who was straight-up Ash’s friend and could go toe-to-toe with him like that was good. Although… I don’t like his voice. His outfit is a little weird, but it looks normal for Pokémon.
-Pokémon Showcase… is just like Pokémon contests in the games? Except I remember as a kid they battled in the anime contests and not the game ones, and I guess they had to call it something else.
-They didn’t need to make the Bonnie episodes THAT sad, but they went there. “That sweet old lady in the hospital has to be reunited with Flabebe!” “Lapras got sick and separated from its family!” “Oh, Tyrantrum can’t stay with us, he has to go back to the lab!”. And all the while Narrator Guy finishes off that last one speaking as if someone passed away. And don’t get me started on those times Squishy ran away because of his spidey-sense or was kidnapped by Team Flare.
-No matter how we feel about AI, we can all agree Clembot was a real one, right?
-The Gym Leaders had a lot more personality than in the games. Personal favorite goes to Olympia, whose visions made her borderline unhinged lol.
-I didn’t even get to the animation, which was a lot. But in a good way. Especially for the gyms and Showcases. I’m gonna think about those finals for a while. I feel like Ash had to lose because it means he has another mountain to climb, but… the gold Shuriken! That’s gotta count for something!
-The music was also… actually really good?
-Not related to anything but I hope Narrator Guy is set for life after so many years of service to the show.

Besties I just saw the Leon vs Diantha fight and I have Thoughts This is a VERY opinionated rant so read at your own volition. Also just so its not misconstrued, this is in now way hate towards any Muses that people play, just based on the writing of the anime and how much I dislike it.
....this is so boring.
Like there's plot armor, and then there's whatever just happened with Leon vs Diantha, they don't even SHOW a majority of the fight!? Like I get it, you want Leon to be seen as this Legendary Trainer, so logically you'd want him to stomp and do well right??
Then...can we see that through strategy rather than his Pokemon just eating Super Effective attacks and acting like its nothing, then 1/2-shotting his opponents Pokemon? Its implied through the shots that they did give us that the matchups were: Dragapult Vs Hawlucha Dragapult Vs Tyrantrum Rillaboom Vs Tyrantrum Rillaboom Vs Aurorus Rillaboom Vs Gourgeist Rillaboom Vs Goodra Rillaboom Vs Gardevoir G-Max Charizard Vs Mega Gardevoir
Like the Dragapult fighting off Hawlucha and losing to Tyrantrum makes sense, but you're expecting me to believe that RIllaboom...is actually able to solo four different Pokemon? Two of which resist its common moves, and two that are easily able to strike it with super effective attacks? We even SEE Goodra nail it with a Fire Blast and just shrug that off, as if he didn't fight three other Pokemon before her???
And again, I get it, Leon is meant to be a super powerful trainer with insanely strong Pokemon...but from a viewers perspective, his fights are just so...boring, and lazily done.
I love Leon as much as the next guy, but in my perspective, his title of an 'unbeatable trainer' is so blown out of proportion in the anime compared to the games. To me, the whole 'Unbeatable Trainer' thing was implied to be in EVERY region, because, well, every region has a Champion! Leon was Galars Unbeatable Trainer in the games cuz he was their Champion for a long time, until the player character came around.
The same could be said for Cynthia and Sinnoh, Diantha and Kalos, Steven and Hoenn..... (I leave Lance and Iris out of this because I believe its sorta implied that they're on the weaker end of things since they're new/regaining their title as champion)
I don't really wanna get started on Alain so...yeah.
Its a point of story writing to keep your viewers engaged with each beat, and if half the tournament is just scripted/skipped because 'obvious Leon is the best Champion he'd stomp the competition', then its not good writing. Its just lazy and presents the tournament as kinda a joke or just a setup.
I'm just not looking forward to Ash winning everything as well, I hate his plot armor, and I know he will get to the finals because the plot needs him to, without any realism in the sense of actual strength.
Its just really sad that the most exciting Tournament of the year in the Pokemon Anime universe only has one unpredictable battle with Diantha Vs Lance, and in turn, made it the most exciting. I just can't wait for it to be all over rather than waiting in excitement for each battle.
On the flip side the preview for the next episode does have me a lil interested because this might be the tournament Cynthia does apparently, she MIGHT RETIRE after it’s over!

My hotel in Mossdeep has a PokeBall storage system in the lobby. I don't recognize the brand of the storage system, let alone the make. The only reason I check is to make sure I'm not supporting Devon co in any way. I'm getting "handling fees" for recalling a pokemon from halfway around the world. It's an inconvenience now, but this technology was thought impossible only twenty years ago.
Thoughts about the impending technological singularity puts me on auto, and before I know why, I've selected six Pokemon. I've selected my old Kalos team. They're the reason I can afford this hotel, the trip to Hoenn, and my excursion into Alola. They made me a Duke of the Battle Chateau for nearly three years of my life. That money won't last be forever, I know, but it's at least giving me the freedom to search for something better. I wish there was some way to honor them. Maybe I could give them away to a youngster. But then so many youngsters wouldn't be able to keep them tame.
I deselect my team, but my finger liners over Roi-my Tyrantrum. He was an outrageous force of death and mayhem to me and nothing more. He won fights and trained nonstop and that's all I needed from him.
I knew Roi wasn't the best. I knew a Tyrantrum in my party took the spot of a Hydreigon or Salamence, but I never had the heart to swap him out. For a long time, I told myself that I was tired of training up dragons from the ground up, but the truth was simpler. I LIKED Roi. He was a poor offensive main, and he's a terrible training partner for a Belldum, but I like him, so I'm going to take him out.
The other withdraw is Connie, the Swanna. She was a transport Pokemon, a means to travel the world and nothing else. I never learned her temperament in battle and I didn't care to. She could fly and swim and that was enough. I'll need her support to get around, but it makes me sick to think about going back to that lifestyle.
My shoulders tense. My jaw tightens. My eyes burn from sleepless memories. I withdraw them. One quick ball and one pokeball to attach to my trainer's belt. I feel around for the notches and laugh at myself. I'm not wearing a training belt. They fit in my pocket, but it feels wrong.
I've got three Pokemon on me. Why? What do I hope to accomplish with them?
I'm here to research Metagross, but then what? What's my end goal here?
Life is a non-stop battle against ennui. Does it really matter how I stave off the essential dead? I have a mystery to solve and that's all that matters.
...
The Belldum is in a premier ball. It's white and plain, except for the Fenomenal Labs logo on the top. Each time I put this monster into a box, Fenomenal Labs gets an update of its data. The same for every trip to a pokemon center. I owe them that much, don't I?
There's no one around the hotel's backside that opens up nicely to a nearby cliffside park. It's a good place to begin its training. I keep thinking Fusion is a good name for a Belldum, but I'm just trying to undo my previous mistakes. Nothing will change how I mismanaged my Pokemon. Nothing will erase the day that Spiral killed my Fision.
Roi comes out first and he's ready to battle. His back is lowered, his jaw is agape, and his white fins rattle with power. He's just like I trained him to be, ready to kill.
It's been five years, closer to six. He takes in his surroundings rapidly. His posture relaxes a smidge before he sees a stranger in me. My hair is shorter and I've fully committed to a beard, to say nothing about the downgrade in my clothing. I dressed like such a dandy in Kalos. It seemed so important to me at the time.
Roi is waiting for me-the enemy-to toss out a pokemon, until he realizes that I'm his trainer. The eight foot tall monster inches forward and he smells me on the wind. A brief tilt of his head and then he's on me, sniffing and licking, getting the feel for me.
I'm too choked up to talk to him, so my hands greet him instead. I forgot how affectionate he was. It brings back memories of playing football and bathing him after a victory. It wasn't all battle and training and even though it's been a generation for me, our time apart was a blink for him. He still loves me, because he always did.
Deep grumbling in his chest inquires about the time lost, but I can only hug him and cry. I missed my champion. He was my smooth rock king and I was his Duke.
Before I know why, I'm on his back. We follow the coastline up, away from the labs and towards the vacated regions surrounding MDSC, Mossdeep Space Center. The gate keeps us on this side of the coast.
A flock of Wingulls roost on the opposite side. They take no interest in us. Pellipers return with gullets full of chow and the babes stick half their bodies inside to get their meal. Posturing Wingulls spit each other with jets of water and all the motion kicks up the foul stench of fowl.
Roi snarls and I rub his neck by the crest. He's anxious for a fight. He'd have no trouble taking down the strongest in the flock, but there's no point to it. Roi was once called the strongest Tyrantrum in Kalos, which might as well have been the world, but that meant even less then. He was a mid tier Pokemon, a curio that Champions abandoned. He was a sign of my weakness and one of the main reasons I never challenged Champion Spiral.
I dismount and tell the rock-dragon, "not today. We're going to train a newbie, okay?"
He hears a question and nods, but I don't know if any words enter his gray matter. He's ready to obey. If this Belldum comes out fighting, Roi can take it. I trust my Pokemon.
I enlarge the premier ball and the Wingull scatter. They recognize that sound and know it means trouble. Babes are scooped into the maws of Pellipers and they abandon their nests. Maybe it would've been better to relocate first.
I throw out the white ball, watch it spin, and out comes an egg.
An egg.
Just the sight of it tenses up my entire body. My lumbar, thighs, and triceps scream about phantom pains remembered from months of biking. Back and forth I hatched eggs, dropped them off to the breeders, picked up another egg and repeated. My search for perfect Pokemon was endless. In the end, I only had the endurance to train three up to the level it takes to be a champion. That egg reminded me why I never bred Pokemon in Unova, Kalos, or Alola. I'd burned myself out...completely.
But this isn't Sinnoh. I only need to hatch this one egg. I can relax.
Dr. Statum didn't mention he was giving me an egg, but I shouldn't be surprised. The best way to monitor the Pokemon's change, is to watch it from the beginning. This little collection of metal will have its entire life to grow.
I could hatch the egg quickly. With Roi's help, he could be a Belldum in a few hours. But then that would be the waste of a good opportunity. I have datasets for hundreds of Belldum. I can find the Belldum with the greatest growth and contact their trainers. I can do everything right. I can give it perfect training... But then how can training be perfect if I don't have a goal to achieve. What exactly am I training him for?
...
Back at the hotel, I find computers to go through the information in the datastick. I find something surprising, the Belldum with the highest molecular shifting per cubic centimeter, is the one I looked at before-the Belldum that was trained to be cool for a coordinator. Its rates returned to something closer to normal after evolving, but as a Belldum, this Belldum was well above the others.
What happened to this Belldum?
I search around for famous Metagross and find mine, Steven's and a few other notorious Metagross known for battling. I waste hours looking into Metagross mega evolutions. The price for a stone costs more than my annual salary as a Duke of Kalos. I might be able to make up the difference by selling my old Pokemon, but that could be my retirement.
Looking into coordinators yields better results. There was only ever one Belldum in the Sinnoh competitive coordinator scene. There's an old interview online where they joke about the metal genius entering cute contests, but that's about it. That's more than enough for me, because it gives me the trainer's name: Ester Flowne.
Ester's a psychic entertainer, based out of Slateport. Slateport was important for some reason. It's home to the oceanic museum so it won't be a total waste of time to go there, but I'm sure it's something else.
Rosette. Spirals friend Rosette. She ended up settling her there. With any luck, she and Spiral have become distant friends. If I don't have to run into Spiral again, all the better. Some things are better left on the past.

Home Again. (Another One-Shot with Clemont and Bonnie)
(This is the prequel to Lonely so maybe go check that out after)
Kalos Airport, the sun is setting, the two blonde and blue eyed siblings walk out, Ash is gone, Serena is gone, it’s just them. Same place, ready to go back to how it was with all of those memories behind them.
Clemont walks with pride back home to prism tower, the journey has given his confidence the boost it’s needed for years, and while his inventions may blow up in his face still, they still can manage to get the job done.
Bonnie has that smile on her face that she always has usually, however she’s still taking this pretty hard, the only one who could see it was Dedenne, who lays inside her yellow bag, looking up at her from a crack..
The walk home is silent, besides the bustling streets of Lumiose City, there’s not much going on with the two, Clemont speaks up.
“So, Bonnie, did you enjoy the little journey we had?” He says, hoping that it’ll ease the minuscule tension there is..
“It was great! Probably one of the best times I’ve had ever!” She says, followed by a sigh…
“I’d love if it happened again.” She says, in a noticeably different tone from what she had just said, Clemont of course notices.
“Bonnie, are you ok?” He asks, she jolts up after hearing that
“I-I’m fine! Feeling great!” She says, and though she does feel good, it’s getting a bit hard to hide her feelings of guilt. Guilty of what you may ask, maybe it was not spending enough time with them, or maybe somethings she may have said.
“Ooookayyyy…” He says, not really buying what Bonnie claims, but chooses to not dwell on it further so he doesn’t bother her, or make her feel worse.
But it’s starting to show that she’s definitely still taking the departure of her two close friends hard, her smile is starting to fade off of her face, Dedenne perks up from inside her bag to check on her.
“Nenne?”
“Oh, it’s nothing Dedenne, trust me.” She says, although it’s definitely not nothing, as her smile is fading further.
As Clemont’s staring at Bonnie’s continuously fading smile, he’s catching on to her true feelings, we wants to say something, but he feels like he’d be a bother to her, so he holds his tongue for now, but his mind does all the talking for him.
“Bonnie’s probably still sad about Ash and Serena leaving, must still be taking a toll on her, I don’t wanna feel like I’m nagging her about it…” of course he doesn’t actually say this, it’s all in his thoughts.
Bonnie’s smile is continuously fading until a frown is somewhat visible on her face, it’s almost heartbreaking to watch, and it’s even starting to affect Clemont, as he continuously gets more and more worried for his little sister, you could almost tell she’s holding back tears.
About 5 minutes later they finally make it home, they both let out a sigh, it was just about nighttime, before Bonnie can say anything Clemont speaks up
“You should head to bed, I’ve still got something I need to work on so I’ll be up a bit late..”
“Kay, nighty night Clemont.” Something was definitely up with how she said it, it’s like it had little to no energy in it, but Clemont can’t say anything before she walks to her room.
She walks into her room, slipping out of her normal clothes and into her Tyrantrum pajamas, as she slips into bed, she’s trying to forget about the day and sleep, but fate has other plans for her bottled up feelings
“Nenne? Denne?” Dedenne says, nuzzling her cheek
“I’m fine Dedenne, heheh…” she says, denying her feelings to make Dedenne feel better
“Nenenenenneee…” Seems like Dedenne isn’t buying it
“I’m okay Dedenne, really, now I gotta get some sleep…” She’s never been this eager to go to sleep, now he knows something is wrong
“Dennenenee..” It says, giving the last push she needs to finally speak up about her feelings
“Ok..you caught me, I’m still a bit sad about Ash and Serena being gone…and Squishy….”
Dedenne wasn’t surprised much, since earlier that day it had ran away from the group in the very airport because it didn’t want the group to separate, but it still wanted to hear Bonnie out, she’s started to tear up…
“I’m just not feeling the best, and Clemont seems so happy…I mean I’m glad he’s happy but…I know he’s probably hurting too, and he’s probably better at hiding it than me a-a-and…”
Her sentence is cut off as she sobs, it’s noticeably quiet, but it could definitely be heard if you had keen ears, her sobs go on for a solid few minutes until she eventually falls asleep, the poor thing cried herself to sleep..
Clemont having finished his work for the night, goes to check up on Bonnie, the door is wide open, but he gently knocks anyways..
“Bonnie, you ok?” He says, noticing the sleeping girl
“Oh, she’s asleep..” he goes to check up on her as he pulls the covers just slightly to see her face, his heart slightly sinks seeing her tear stained face sleeping with a frown..
“I knew she was still sad but..I didn’t know she’d cry herself to sleep.” He says, somewhat worried, but he sighs
“I guess we both feel the same way..” He says, as he gently kisses her forehead, which maker the sleeping girl smile, which puts a smile on his face in return
“Goodnight Bonnie.”
He says, as he turns off her light, and closer the door, only having it open by a crack, maybe it’s just so she doesn’t have to open it the next morning, or maybe it’s symbolism for the hope that they’ll reunite with the rest of the gang again.
(The Chef has cooked again! I honestly wasn’t expecting the positive reception on that last post about it…even tho it got only like 18 or something notes ITS STILL ALOT TO ME >:(((, buuut it boosted my motivation so I hope you enjoyed!)

kalos mega gym leaders idea
This is just another idea I had for a while. I'm sure there are other people out there who have already thought of this but anyway, I'm going to give it a try as well. It's another what if scenario. What if the gym leaders of Kalos could use mega evolution and what if their Kalos Ace Pokemon were given mega evolution forms. These are just my ideas on what pokemon the kalos gym leaders will have.
Disclaimer: I'm not doing this to flaunt my ideas and say that they're better than the ideas of the pokemon company. This is just a fun what if scenario.
Ok. So the pokemon that I think each gym leader should have to mega evolve is as follows:
Viola: Mega Vivillon
Tumblr media
credit: Ana Zamora on Pinterest
Vivillon with a mega evolution form. When it mega evolves, it'll become a Bug and Fairy type. I Imagine Vivillon will have a beautiful pattern like this on its wings (this design was made by Ana Zamora on Pinterest). I imagine it would change colour all the time in battle (like changing into the different colours from its different patterned forms). It can release powder of different colours that can nullify the effects of terrain moves (electric terrain, grassy terrain, etc). It's new ability will be camouflage (it'll change elemental types when it's hit by a move in battle).
Grant: Mega Tyrantrum
Tumblr media
credit: ETHEREAlHAZE on archive.pokemon.com
Tyrantrum with a mega evolution form. When it mega evolves, it becomes a Dark and Rock type. I imagine Tyrantrum having spikes on its body like this and a gem on its forehead which stores ancient power and use it to demolish buildings? This design was made by ETHEREALHAZE on archive.pokemon.com.
Korrina: Mega Pangoro
Tumblr media
credit: Shin Art on Pinterest
Instead of her ace being a Lucario, maybe a Pangoro. When it mega evolves, Pangoro becomes a Grass and Fighting type. I imagine Pangoro having a large bow staff on its back too to go with the design or maybe gauntlets made of bamboo to crush targets (by Shin Art)?
Ramos: Mega Gogoat
Tumblr media
credit: SkarmorySilver on Pinterest
His ace Pokémon will be a Gogoat. So when it mega evolves, it'll still be a grass and rock type. It's new ability will be Overgrowth. I imagine its horns will look like this and it'll have rocks on its back. Its body will be tough to destroy rocks with ease and fast enough to give fast Pokémon like Staraptor a run for its money (by SkarmorySilver).
Clemont: Mega Heliolisk
Tumblr media
credit: Neomarkan on Devianart
His ace pokemon will be a Heliolisk. When it mega evolves, it'll be a fire and electric type. It's new ability will be flash fire. I imagine it would look like this with a sun themed look to it which looks cool. This was made by Neomarkan.
Valerie: Mega Sylveon
Tumblr media
credit: Chris J Alejo
Her ace pokemon will be a Sylveon. When it mega evolves, it'll become a fairy and flying type. It's new ability will be Pixilation. Sylveon will have wings to enable it to fly and a little more ribbons to ensare opponents. I was thinking of giving it this look to really lean towards its fairy themed design and having Sylveon be the only eveelution that can mega evolve out of all of them makes it stand out from the rest of the eveelutions (by Chris J Alejo).
Olympia: Mega Malamar
Tumblr media
credit: YingYangHeart on Devianart
Her ace Pokemon will be a Malamar. When it mega evolves, it'll become a psychic and water type. It's new ability will be Levitation. I imagine it looking like this (by YingYangHeart on Devianart). It uses its multiple eyes to scan the field for opponents and with its many eyes, it can evade attacks. Its eyes can emit psychic energy which can push back targets (its eyes are there to protect it too).
Wulfric: Mega Avalugg
Tumblr media
credit: ericgl1996 on Devianart
https://www.deviantart.com/ericgl1996/art/Mega-Avalugg-Avalugg-s-Mega-Evolution-973229956
His ace Pokemon will be a Avalugg. When it mega evolves, it'll become a Ice and ground type. It's new ability will be Snow Warning. I imagine it having large ice mountains on its back like this (made by ericgl1996 on Devianart). I also thought of the Team Glacier leader having this Pokémon to fight with in the Pokémon XY rewrite but we'll see.
The reason why I changed some of the ace Pokémon of the gym leaders is because it didn't feel right having some of the kalos gym leaders 1 ace Pokémon being from a different region. I just did it like this so the gym leaders each have one ace pokemon being from Kalos (I hope that makes sense). Let me know what you think about these ideas.

-- Kalos Arc II: Finale (1/2)
Tumblr media
After leaving Snowbelle City, the trip through Route 21 was brief, but they also had to pass through Kalos' Victory Road. With the help of pokemon and judging the time of day based on the senses of said pokemon, it took them some time to get through the cave while battling trainers and making their way to the Kalos League hall where the Elite Four and Champion awaited.
After taking some time to rest and fill out appropriate paperwork, show their badges and register what pokemon they'd be using, the decision to let Leon go first was apparent. Wishing him luck the next day, he was allowed in to challenge the Elite Four and possibly the Champion.
Beginning with Malva, the fire-type expert, a battle against her team of Pyroar, Talonflame, Torkoal, Chandelure, Delphox, and Houndoom, her Mega, was a heated battle that left Leon fired up already.
Next was Wikstrom, the steel-type expert, and a battle against his team of Klefki, Probopass, Steelix, Aegislash, Escavalier, and Aggron, his Mega, which gave Leon a taste of why the Kalos League was indeed powerful.
After was Siebold, the water-type expert, with his team of Clawitzer, Gyarados, Starmie, Barbaracle, Octillery, and Blastoise, his Mega, which proved to be a bit of a challenge for his team, mostly relying on Tala to see things through.
Finally was Drasna, the dragon-type expert, with her team of Dragalge, Druddigon, Noivern, Garchomp, Dragonite, and Altaria, her Mega, which proved to be challenging most of all for Leon if only because his team was a bit exhausted from three battles back to back.
Finally came Diantha, the Champion of Kalos, who commented she was excited to finally face the legendary Undefeatable Champion, and with a fire in her eyes, began the battle with her Hawlucha. Leon's team met her team pokemon for pokemon followed by her squad of Aurorus, Tyrantrum, Gourgeist, Goodra, and finally her ace and partner let alone her mega, Gardevoir, who met Bahamut on the battlefield. An explosive battle that ended in smoke filling the room and...
... her Gardevoir knocked out.
Bahamut was exhausted, but Leon went to catch his partner just before he went out of Mega Form and offered a smile as said Charizard offered a thumbs up. Diantha came to congratulate them after returning her partner to her pokeball and presented them with a Champion Rank symbol for Kalos.
Seeing it, Leon had high hopes already that Ashe would be able to conquer the same challenge he did, but he knew she would have troubles in some areas. That being said, for now, she'd have to wait while everyone's teams healed and once outside and Ashe saw he had won, congratulating him and remarking how proud she was he had come this far, the two headed inside for the night to prepare for Ashe's own toppling of the Kalos League...
... or so they hoped.
---
Snowbelle City -> TRAVELING -> Pokemon League !!
Ashe Team: Sylveon (Lucky), Delphox (Merlin), Absol (Mirage), Floragato (Joker), Lapras (Loch), Frosmoth (Omen).
Leon Team: Charizard (Bahamut), Aegislash* (Excalibur), Smaug (Dragapult), Leafeon (Tala), Urshifu (Miyagi), Inteleon (James).
Leon’s Progress: 8 out of 8 badges, Elite Four Challenge Taken, Champion Rank.
Ashe’s Progress:  8 out of 8 badges, No Elite Four Challenge yet.

MLDC Pokemon Au Characters: Champion Felix Team
(Note that this takes place in the Kalos region but all the pokemon from each gen 1-8 is here plus this is different class au where Mari is with Mendeliev from the beginning of the show and kwamis don’t exist but BURST power does)
Champion Felix Etienne Durand of the Kalos Region: A world famous actor, plus part time model and full time activist, despite being aloof and difficult to talk with, constantly shoving a hand upon cameras being in his face with a deadpan expression. However beneath his cold exterior lies a quite soft spot for trainers that show talent and is quite protective of those he considers to be “friends” including his own pokemon. Yep he has friends but also his region. He is very regal, prim and proper like most champions but is also surprisingly cunning, crafty and sneaky, willing to salt on anyone who dares get on his bad side. Free time you can find him in cafes, reading anything or practicing magic tricks.  is nicknamed mister grumpy pants by Jagged and Ice King?prince due to his use of ice type moves and pokemon
Main partner is Gallade named Galahad , who he can Mega evolve but refuses to do so all the time, only when the time is right. He makes sure Felix isn’t too distant or rude or dismissive until the person deserves it and Felix is internally grateful for that even if it doesn’t look like it. Don’t worry, Galahad knows though psychic mind reading and their bond is so deep that Felix can command him through movements without speaking!! He is like a gentleman, very much into respect and chivalry but also very loyal to Felix
Tumblr media
P Team is based off Diantha’s and fairytale/movie genres
Gallade: based off the white knight part of Felix, is actually quite protective of those he cares for even if he has trouble showing it, also all of his team is base off an movie genre and fairytale, Galahad being the knight and romantic lead, found him as a Ralts and protected him from a Druddigon, now has a best friend since Ralts can detect emotions and despite his icy glare and closed off attitude, senses loneliness as a result from his abusive, isolated childhood and ended up running away together, is his closest companion and based on the knight/romantic lead since Felix is always portrayed as the lead
Dragapult: Tristan, obviously, the dragon of the fairytale and has a personality similar to Plagg and the most similar in appearance quite lazy and mischievous, always pulling pranks with Morgana, Felix’s XL Gourgeist being besties with her, also in the horror genre with her, decided to join Felix whether he liked it or not, seeing as he couldn’t scare him so easily after Felix hear rumors of a ghost causing chaos and trouble in Route 14 and wanted to debunk it, plus he needs a puesdo-legendary like many champions and the quiet mysterious personality fits him, Felix secretly adores him and his mini children, a soft spot
Aurorus: Guinevere was with Launcelot when they were both discovered together as fossils and when revived, just kept each other company and whenever one was going to be taken, the other (mostly Launcelot) would throw a fit, attack fellow pokemon and scientists and basically destroy everything, Amaura would just freeze everything and make the room cold so Felix saw a bit of himself in them and took both of them, she is the only one who can calm Tyrantrum down despite a type disadvantage and Felix enjoys her personality and her being the queen plus dino movies
Tyrantrum: Launcelot is his name, he represents the king being a king like pokemon in the old ages and fits old fossil movies like Jurassic Park and Land Before Time plus those natural geographic documentaries, like with Guinevere was found together and refused to leave each other as an Amaura and Tyrunt since they only had each other so Felix took them since he made more of a mess and was difficult plus Felix was reminded of his friendship with Bridgette, Marinette’s cousin, may look and act tough and scary, he is but also is very touch starved, loves cuddles and pets from Felix
Gourgeist XL: Like Dragapult, Vortigen simply followed Felix around since he ignored his ghostly moans and proceed to prank and scare his teammates (earning Tristan’s respect) so he made a deal with him that if he could try and scare him as he’s hard to be afraid then he’ll leave them all alone, he failed but decided to stay by throwing a pokeball at Felix’s face unlike Tristan who simply caught himself and woke Felix by sitting sat on his chest as a Pumpkaboo, is best friends with Tristan over being unable to terrify their trainer and enjoying watching the gardens grow and helps out, he appreciates that
Frosmoth: A tiny snow that he found when traveling though Galar in an attempt to get along with Kalos-Galar diplomatic relationships and going a movie shoot, he ended up camping 🏕  ⛺️ with his pokemon and well making curry to feed them a tiny snow ends up with them wanting food and Felix, despite his cold exterior let’s it joins the meal and oops it decides to stay, Vivien is a shy bug but like Felix doesn’t like bad guys or people who refuse to leave her trainer alone and ends up getting friendship points with him to evolve much to his shock and now there are mysterious many Alolan and Galar pokemon in Kalos
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Relationships: Gets along well with Penny Rolling, Sinnoh League Champion and Camilla Hombee, Unova Champion with their studious personalities and enjoy talking with each other about books/myths/lore and swapping stories, few who can take Felix’s distant, closed off personality and actually get him out of his shell/bubble and talk to, Felix even smiles a bit when around Penny and is secretly excited to see her at champion meetings,
Has a love-hate relationship with jagged since he traveled with him and penny, their personalities clash a lot with Felix’ chivalry gentleman like yet very much gives the cold shoulder, polite yet quiet, Jagged the total oppiste: loud, boisterous, gets into people’s faces, love to give each other crap and act terrible to one another but both are terrified of Penny’ wrath since she’s the only one to keep them in line, secretly both are jealous of each other
Wants to protect Marinette and her friends since he failed to protect her cousin and former accoquinâtes since he worked for Interpol as an agent but a mission failed resulted in them and their pokemon being killed, makes him have crushing guilt and trauma, masking of his emotions, is so determined to make sure Mari doesn’t have to go through that and is fond of her as a successor and trains her though is quite envious by the fact that Mari has a huge crush on Chandra
Ali respects him due to his Champion a social status and the fact he would sacrifice everything to protect his citizen and regions, Felix would give him advice on the pressure and knows of Ali’s feelings for Marinette, quietly teasing him much to his embarrassment but like Ali likes to help everyone out
with Aurore thinks he’s dreamy and cute like a tsundere but also is quite salty that Auroue prefers Chandra over him cause parasol goals , is quite overwhelmed but enjoys by Ondine’s cheerfulness/peppiness and is internally mortified that Jean acts like Jagged but likes his card tricks, listens to Zora cause though she young she has much smart advice
Does not get along with Andre due to corruption and him searching undercover due to employer complainats, Gabriel he can’t get along with since he calls Felix creepy things like he should remain young forever much to his disgust cause Felix wants to grow old, Nadja he hates nosy reporters and how she assumes Felix is in love Gallade and how Marinette was in love with her Greninja, shutted her down, Caline he hates that she keeps gulitripping Marinette int traveling with Chloe and releasing her “dangerous” pokemon like Greninja so he puts a stop to that with Mega Gallade on all of them
Gets along with Dimitrina Mendeliev and Anne-Jeanne Théoxanne du Bocquale cause professors (don’t know who’s Kalos and Anne might be Alola’s and Kalos professor) and Mendeliev tells him everything what’s going on like her pesky coworker refusing to take a hint in leaving her students alone, so like two grumpy parents who will risk their lives for their kids, plus tall gf and smol bf, he meshes well with Anne evn though her hyperactive, doesn’t look before she jumps and sometimes forgets to think things through, loves her happy-go-lucky nature, reminds me a lot of Bridgette where both also have their brave wise moments.
Respects all the other champions, being his fellow coworkers and help each other out though is very intimated and insecure with Darius due to his physique and height (Felix, slender and skinny 6ft, Darius 6′5 and very muscular) but mutual understanding his dragons and power, Marianne and Fu were retired but have everyone’s attention and huge respect since they were the first, oldest, champions where Marianne is now part of penny’s Elite four
Due to not many dude/guy champions, Felix is the closest with Penny, Camilla, sigh Jagged, Ali, Marianne, Fu, plus his successor Marinette and even Chandra, maybe even has a slowburn love with her later on

This is the art I made of me as a Pokemon trainer! My first game was X, then ORAS, then SM/USUM, and then Sword, so that's kinda the basis for the following:
Jacob was born in the Kalos region, and lived there for a few years. He got a Mega Ring and a Jaw Fossil as a going away present when he moved to Alola at the age of eight.
On Melemele Island (his new home), Hacob quickly became friends with Hau, another kid his age. When they reached fourteen years of age, they started their Island Trials while Kukui began building the League. He met many strange characters, and met wonderful people as well.
He stopped Necrozma from stealing Alola's light, and helped rebuild Ultra Megalopolis, the Aether Foundation, and Team Skull (Jacob became an honorary admin because of this)
Pokemon caught in Alola:
Decidueye - Ronin
Talonflame - Apollo
Mega Venusaur - Dionysus
Mega Gyrados - Jormungandr
Tyrantrum (shiny) - Hades
Mimikyu - Doodle
Raichu- Maui
Vikavolt - Artemis
Golisopod - Guzma
Noivern - Murcielago
Solgaleo - Nebby
Necrozma
Naganadel
On a vacation trip to Hoenn, Jacob played a role in the stopping of Team Magma's schemes to bring out Groudon. He helped May take down the group, and then he helped Zinnia summon Rayquaza to take out the meteor holding Deoxys.
Pokemon caught in Hoenn:
Mega Rayquaza
Deoxys
Back in Alola, at 18 years of age, Jacob decided to give up his Champion title to Hau in order to try out the Galar League. Gladion, now the CEO of the newly refurbished Aether Foundation, gave him the last Type: Null. As organized before he left, Jacob stayed with a distant cousin of Hau's, Hop. Hop helped him learn and explore the cultures of Galar in preparation for the tournament, which is for adults to participate in. He starts his journey, catches new Pokemon, makes new friends in Sonia, Gloria, Hop, and Leon, and even starts dating Marnie after a fierce battle outside Spikemuth. After defeating Mr. Rose and catching Eternatus, Jacob becomes Champion of the Galar League. He is invited to The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, where he goes to further his Pokemon journey, preparing for the next adventure.
Pokemon caught in Galar:
Gigantamax Cinderace - Darren
Gigantamax Sandaconda - Apophis
Silvally - Gladion
Barraskewda - Nepthys
Orbeetle - Khepri
Snom (x50)
Arctozolt - Ghidorah
Eternatus
Zacian
Urshifu
Galarian Articuno
Galarian Zapdos
Galarian Moltres
Regieleci
Regidrago
Calyrex
Jacob has been hailed as the strongest Champion in Galar, a region who has consistently put out strong champions throughout the years of pokemon battling. Being strong enough to beat Leon, then being trained by former Champion Mustard, and then frequently battling former Champion Steel Peony, a good friend according to the man, certainly has improved on his rating. In fact, in one of his more recent exhibition battles in Kalos, Champion Jacob effortlessly wiped out Champion Diantha's team, her Mega Gardevoir being taken out with a single hit from a 'Let's Snuggle Forever' from his Mimikyu, Doodle.
Being one of the few trainers to utilize all three main styles of alternative battling, those being Mega Evolution, Z-Power, and Dynamaxing, Champion Jacob is a fierce rival. While he is good at strategizing his battles (and he frequently switches out Pokemon when necessary), Champion Jacob prefers using raw force in his moves, blasting through opponents with powerful moves like Earthquake and Sunsteel Strike. The only real threats to him in a restriction-free battle, are Champion Cynthia of Sinnoh and Champion Red from Kanto. Champion Cynthia's Garchomp is the only Pokemon to have taken out Champion Jacob's Tyrantrum: Hades, in a single move. And Champion Red was the only person to last more than thirty minutes in a battle with Champion Jacob, at a time of thirty one minutes; Champion Cynthia from Sinnoh lasted twenty eight minutes. In both battles, the competitors where left with a single pokemon each. They are the only trainers that Champion Jacob calls rivals, though he is adamant that anyone who puts in the amount of work he has could become just as strong.
In a restricted fight, Champion Jacob is still a strong contender. In these fights, Champion Jacob is stuck to one alternative battle form, which he usually chooses based off of where the match is taking place. In these battles, he shines in his ability to strategize, taking the time to set up traps, Leech Seed being a favorite. Poisoning his targets is also a common tactic. One of his most famous restricted fights took place in Kanto, where he faced Former Champion Blue and Champion Red, alongside his longtime friend Champion Hau. This battle was the first time were Champion Jacob showed off his Mega Rayquaza in an official match, the pokemon devastating the opposing team. Only the combined forces of Champion Red's Charizard and Former Champion Blue's Blastoise defeated the Legendary, and the rest of the match ended quickly as Champion Jacob sent out Calyrex to finish them off. After that match, the restricted battles Champion Jacob were festure din only allowed one Legendary Pokemon.
Another strong trainer that Champion Jacob likes to praise is his girlfriend Marnie gave him the most trouble through all his journeys. According to exclusive interviews with Champion Jacob, Marnie could easily become Champion of almost any region she went to, but prefers to stay as a Spikemuth's gym leader and try to knock him off his throne.
Jacob's team often changes in exhibition matches and tournaments, but the following twelve pokemon are those who show up the most, his most common party as the top 6, with an appearance rating of 37%.
Shiny Tyrantrum - Hades
Mega Venusaur - Dionysus
Calyrex
Gigantamax Cinderace - Darren
Silvally - Gladion
Urshifu
Mega Rayquaza
Solgaleo - Nebby
Eternatus
Mimikyu- Doodle
Zacian
Gigantamax Sandaconda- Apophis
Outside of battling, Champion Jacob is still a popular guy. He is often seen in public with his friends, and frequently takes trips to Kalos and Alola with Marnie. Team Skull Leader Guzma is often around the two in Alola, trying to beat the two 'into a pulp' with his Golisopod. He is also featured on several if Gym Leader Klara's songs, apparently he is a good singer.
Here is a list of all of Champion Jacob's known associates:
His mother - Alola
Professor Kukui - Alola
Lillie- Alola/Kanto
Champion Hau - Alola
Aether President Gladion - Alola
Team Skull Leader Guzma - Alola
Professor in Training Hop - Galar
Professor Sonia - Galar
Pokemon Trainer Gloria - Galar
Gym Leader Marnie - Galar
Gym Leader Bede - Galar
League Chairman Leon - Galar
Dojo Master Mustard - Isle of Armor
Gym Leader Klara - Isle of Armor
Former Champion Peony - Crown Tundra
Champion Jacob is also very friendly, taking a lot of time out of his day to talk to fans and give advice. He frequently let's kids play around with his less dangerous pokemon, and will sometimes give people rides on his Rayquaza. Described as shy but loving attention, he and his Tyrantrum Hades are showcased often in selfies from fans. In fact, the most liked social media image in the world is a photo of him, Champion Cynthia, Gym Leader Marnie, and Team Skull Leader Guzma standing in the mid background of fan's selfie photo. With 4,375,036 likes.
In one interview, Champion Jacob was shown a list that a group of fans had put together. Taken from multiple sources over the years, it showcased the few things that Champion Jacob fears in a battle:
• Team Skull Leader Guzma's Golisopod getting a 'First Impression' hit
• Champion Cynthia's Garchomp
• Champion Red's Charizard
• Gym Leader Marnie's Morpeko changing to its angry form
• Any competitors Legendary Pokemon
• Moves with less than 90% accuracy
• Lillie's angry face when he takes out a Pokemon with an overkill move
• Former Aether President Lusamine's Clefable
-~-~-~-~-~
Okay so that artwork was done a while before I got my whole backstory written down, which is why there isn't the main pokemon I use in there. But I think it's still good for a year ish old!
I hope you guys like all the backstory I did! A lot of the future stuff in the last section was fun to write! Especially my little headcanons! I love headcanons.

The 2010s Decade of PokéAni (An overview - Part 2 of 2)
← Continuing on from the first half of this PokéAni 2010s overview....
2015: Serena cuts her hair to chase a dream
Tumblr media
February 12, 2015 Serena’s character arc had a rocky start with her not really sure what to do after becoming a Pokémon trainer meeting her Fennekin for the first time. I was really excited when her character was first announced, but I wanted to like her more than just being “that pretty girl who has a crush on Ash”. Maybe it’s because I’m not that shippy of a person, nor a romantic type of guy whatsoever but I didn’t want a main character to just be defined as a potential love interest. With her development slowly leaning towards a clear goal on wanting to become a top Pokémon Performer, I was happy she was finally carving her own path. However it was this specific episode that marked a major turning point for her ambitions, and made me truly invest in the new and improved Serena.
Tumblr media
It was finally Serena’s debut as a Pokémon performer competing in her first Pokémon Showcase in Coumarine City, along with her friend, rival, and fellow-performer, Shauna. The performers in this showcase are divided into groups, and only one from each group gets to move on to the next round. Going into the first round, Serena was nervous yet confident. It was a Pokémon styling contest, and Serena put a lot of care and effort into making Fennekin look as cute and gorgeous as possible. But maybe it was a bit too much...
Tumblr media
As they walk down the runway showcasing Fennekin’s fashion, everything went well and both were having a great experience in their first showcase...until something terribly went wrong. Fennekin accidentally trips over its ribbon while walking the runway which ends up scattering all the decorations Serena had styled over her. She made a crucial mistake in making the ends of the ribbon too long, thus costing them the round and ultimately eliminated her from the competition. Shauna was able to advance from her her group easily, and all Serena could do now was watch the rest of the competition from the stands. Shauna ended up winning the Showcase and her first Princess Key. It was devastating defeat going into your first performance having to lose like that. On the outside, she tried to put up a good face for her friends comforting Fennekin and even congratulating Shauna on her first victory.
Tumblr media
But in the inside, she was grieving and blames herself for not realizing the error she made while styling Fennekin. Even Ash knew that she would be alright all along knowing her strength. The following early morning when no once was watching her besides her Pokémon, she decides to let it all out and break down in front of the ocean. It really broke my heart seeing her crying like that knowing that she really did care about pursuing a performer career. Fennekin and Pancham immediately try and cheer her up as they engaged in a lovely group hug. After understanding the disappointment in defeat, she knew that this was a part of every dream. You can’t be successful without making a couple of mistakes and that it’s okay to cry sometimes to let the bad stress out. No one is perfect, and that same goes for some of Ash’s gym battles or what happened to some of May and Dawn’s contests in the past. It was all part of the process of chasing her newly found dream and Serena finally realized that. It was just the beginning, and she wants to keep going until she gets to Aria. She decides that going forward in this new chapter, there needs to be a change. She got her big scissors out and starts trimming her own hair (for her to do that on the spot without a mirror, she was pretty darn impressive to properly cut her hair like wow lol) as Palermo watches in the distance from her limo. She knew that was the same performer with the tripping Fennekin. It’s possible she saw potential in her that early. Serena rejoins her friends and surprises them with a new look!
Tumblr media
If you ask me, I like this new outfit of hers way better (and I think girls with shorter hair cuter ^///^). Also you can’t forget about the blue ribbon Ash gave her prior to this, it was a really cute touch knowing that he helped her get stronger through her personal journey as a trainer. Now that’s fitting ;) You know even though it was spoiled early on that she was going to have a redesign, I’m really happy on how they did it and it wasn’t just random day where Serena decides she wanted to cut her hair. I’m no girl, but apparently (I researched this) when a woman cuts her hair shorter, it symbolizes a change or a major life event that has happened. To Serena, it was a major shift in her character after the embarrassing loss. She eventually went on to win future performances evolving her Braxien, and even got to be friends with Aria! Remember, Serena is MORE than just AmourShipping...she is our Kalos Queen <3
Tumblr media
Honorable mentions from this year: There’s a lot to talk about when it comes to 2015 PokéAni. Ash had 4 gym battles that year, including his battle with Clemont which I was very hyped about. To the point of him temporarily leaving the group to prepare himself at the Lumiose gym, that’s how much he cared about being in the best battling shape for Ash. There was that infamous “date” episode that Ash & Serena had, Meowth & Bonnie being stuck together, Cosplay Pikachu everywhere, Trevor trying to get a picture of a Moltres, and the debut of Sawyer, the Treeko trainer who was fascinated by Ash. One of my personal favorites too was when Bonnie wanted to ‘keep’ a Tyrunt/Tyrantrum (matched her pajamas too :3) she helped and befriended but unfortunately already had a trainer </3 It was a year of a couple of catches like Ash’s Noibat, Serena’s Eevee, Clemont reminiscing the time he caught a Bunnelby, and of course the lost Goomy. Within months after Ash caring for the Goomy, he was able to evolve it to a Goodra but had to leave it behind when they finally found its homeland it had to watch over with a Floette. We got two more Mega Evolution Specials before it merges with the main anime the following year, but we did get start of the XY&Z arc where Ash’s (then) Frogadier would fulfill a prophecy to save Kalos from a great danger. When they met up with Sanpei in the Ninja Village, Frogadier would finally evolve into Greninja. It would be the year when Team Flare would initiate their plans, attempting to capture all the Zygarde cores. There was one specific Zygarde core that Bonnie was able to befriend and bring it along with them naming it Squishy/Puni-chan. If you thought 2015 was awesome, wait until what PokéAni does in 2016!
2016: Gym Leaders assemble - the last line of defense
Tumblr media
September 15, 2016 The fallout following the Kalos League took a dark turn when Lysandre broadcasts Team Flare’s manifesto to create a new world order, where only the “chosen ones” will join them. Alain, feeling betrayed with Lysandre’s true nature, decides to team up with Ash and the others to take down Team Flare. Lysandre’s gone mad, and even Malva thinks that this is too much. On other side of the story, Mairin with Serena, Professor Sycamore, and Hoenn League Champion Steven, rescued Chespie/Hari-san from Lysandre Labs.
Tumblr media
While all the chaos is going on outside, Clemont reclaims the Lumiose Gym from Xerosic at the cost of terminating his good ol’ Clembot/Citroid assistant he invented for the Gym. I can’t remember how sad I was on robot’s death and nearly cried on it...they really made this scene heartbreaking for Clemont to push that shut down button. You can see the bot’s loyalty towards him volunteering to sacrifice himself for the greater good. But thanks to their bravery, Team Flare no longer controls one of their Zygarde (Z2). Squishy was also able to show its true form (50% so far) when it called upon the other Zygarde cells under Team Flare’s control, but thanks to Bonnie’s bond with it, she was able to breakthrough that mind control by singing Puni-chan’s song (don’t think the dub has an actual name for their version) she often sings when they’re together. The development Bonnie had with Squishy throughout this whole arc was fantastic, because it gave her more responsibility and sense of friendship even after Squishy was under the control of Team Flare destroying every thing. This was her own trial to prepare her for what’s to come when she eventually becomes an official Pokémon trainer and own an overpowered Zygarde in the future xD. Squishy also trusted Bonnie as a human it can rely on.
Tumblr media
With Team Flare looking to be defeated, there was one more threat looming over Kalos. What was that threat? A ROCK. But no ordinary rock, it was The Giant Rock (Meaglith) that Lysandre created based off Primal energy form a beast like creature similar to Zygarde’s 50% forme. It was his last ditch effort in creating a new world, and we have never seen anything this catastrophic from an evil boss since probably Cryus. The Zygarde-like rock beast even absorbed Mairin’s Chespie which makes it even more difficult for them to stop it. It’s destination was the Anistar City Sundial to trigger a massive explosion that could destroy Kalos and the world! Everyone joins up to stop this calamity from happening, but is their strength with Mega Evolution enough to bring it down?
Tumblr media
Then, the epic back-up finally arrives! The whole Kalos crew is here with Champion Diantha uniting all the Gym Leaders (minus Clemont/Clembot) within the region. They even got their own solo introductions. This never happened in the previous regions of the anime, where the Gym Leader would just appear once battling with Ash, but in here they interjected themselves to the Zygarde’s story arc. This really reminded me of what happened during the climax of the Black & White games, where the Gym Leaders joined forces to stop Team Plasma. But this isn’t Unova, this is Kalos, and this is their last line of heavy defense against Lysandre! With 2 League Champions, a Blaziken Mask, Ash-Greninja, Z2′s army of cores, and 7 Gym Leaders, this Giant Rock wont stand a chance! When Zygrade finally reached its 100% forme, it uses Core Enforcer to end Lysandre’s evil plot once and for all (RIP him btw). From Steven Stone’s assistance, to Clembot’s sacrifice, to Team Rocket’s aide, and Diantha leading the region’s top gym leaders, this was an epic way to end the XY&Z saga with. For them saving Chespie, and bring back peace to Kalos.
Tumblr media
Honorable mentions from this year: The closing year for the Kalos ended in epic fashion before taking flight to Alola. Who could forget the episode where Serena wore or should I say cosplayed as Ash? She even almost got to a dance with him during Monsieur Pierre’s party. She wasn’t able to, but at least got to evolve her Eevee into a Sylveon! Clemont also had a new bride that Bonnie wasn’t too fond of (despite her asking multiple ladies to ‘keep’ for him) when her jealousy kicks in. Ash’s Noibat also evolved into Noivern, and briefly reunited with Goodra. Serena got all her Princess Keys needed to compete in the Pokémon Showcase Master Class, and even went head to head with Kalos Queen Aria for her title! She was unsuccessful, but it still won’t stop her from getting better. It was also the official birth of Ash-Greninja when he had a battle with the Kalos Champion, Diantha! Ash finally meets our Mega Evolution protagonist Alain and gained a new rival for the League. Before the Kalos League, he struggled a bit with getting his final badge from Wulfric eventually perfecting Ash-Greninja. In the Kalos League, he had a great battle with Sawyer (who can now use Mega Evolution), but came up short against Alain in the finals. It was a loss everybody was bummed about, and it would take another 3 years for him to compete in another league...we’ll get to that :> But the farewells were unforgettable. Greninja had to be let go in order to destroy the reappearing roots with Squishy and Z2 protecting Kalos from further calamity. And I know y’all can’t forget about the ‘kiss’ heard around the world when Serena leaned in for her parting gift to Ash <3 Him and Clemont have one final battle (just like how the XY series started) before heading back to Pallet Town...”And to our own way”. But 2016 had to end on a happy note, where we see Ash finding a new home in Alola enrolling in their Pokémon School program. Upon arriving, he was blessed with a Z-ring from Tapu Koko, an Alola deity, because he saw something in our boy. Through his class he made 5 new friends, got a Rotom Dex, a little Rowlet birb chilling in his backpack, and meeting a feisty Litten. WHAT. A. YEAR. !!!
2017: Stoutland’s final days with Litten
Tumblr media
April 6, 2017 In possibly one of the most depressing and emotional episodes the Pokémon anime has to offer, the wild Litten that always stole Ash’s food finally gets to be apart of his team. But what made this little kitty finally gave Ash a chance to train it after escaping him so many times when he tried to reach out to it?
Tumblr media
Ash tried to help the loyal Stoutland Litten was living with after following it from stealing his groceries, but due to Stoutland’s old age and declining health, there wasn’t much Nurse Joy could do. The tree shots with the falling leaves throughout the episode pretty symbolize the time Stoutland has left.
Tumblr media
Litten, bringing back his mentor to their old spot after spending the night at the Pokémon Center, still wanted to spend as much time with Stoutland and master the Fire Fang move it was trying to learn. Then the leaves were out, and the finals days of this Stoutland were up. Litten slept with his friend one last time, and even had a dream of Stoutland attempting to chase after it going off in the distance. This symbolizes Stoutland’s departure from being under its care.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t directly shown, nor mentioned, but it is clear to me that the Stoudland had passed away. *sobs* The gloomy rainy weather, and the dark tone shown during this part of the episode signifies the sadness and mourning every character that was involved during Litten’s struggle to find help for its good ol’ friend, not immediately realizing that Stoutland was gone for good. Meowth tried to communicate with his fellow feline to understand what it was feeling, while Ash even spends the entire duration of the rainfall with Litten even though it refused his food offer many times and didn’t want his help. This definitely took me into a feels trip because it is rare for this anime to even do an episode about a death of a Pokémon, even though it was indirect with how they presented it. Not mention, every time I was on my Stoutland ride Pokémon when playing Pokémon Moon (to help detect hidden items), ridding the big doggo always made me think about this particular episode. ;_;
Tumblr media
Eventually the rain stopped, and a rainbow bloomed in a distance that made Litten feel better remembering the good memories it had with Stoutland. Finally, Litten decides to give Ash a chance, but didn’t want his pity over what happened. Litten was a tough little cat and wanted Ash to earn its respect through battle. Litten finally joins Ash’s team after battling with Pikachu and successfully catching it. Ash was also able to feed Litten after accepting it as its trainer. This was probably what Stoutland would have wanted for Litten.
Tumblr media
Stoutland knew what kind of trainer he was and wanted Litten to go with Ash to finish the training they started. Besides mastering Fire Fang, they did a lot more in the future to come. When Litten saw the rainbow and familiar cloud formation, both smiled in peace. Stoutland knew that Litten was in very good hands. The memories learning and training with Stoutland are never forgotten, as Litten embarks on a new journey with brand new friends and a caring trainer.
Tumblr media
Honorable mentions from this year: The first fully fledge year of Alola! Ash owning the first discovered Dusk Lycanroc in the anime verse, Lana getting her own Z-ring and how can I not forget Brock and Misty’s (especially MISTY) big return to the anime when the class went to Kanto! We had new Pokémon caught added to the main cast such as the birth of Lillie’s Snowy/Shiron, James’s touchy Mareanie and Kiawe’s Alolan Marowak. It was Gladion’s debut year becoming Ash’s new rival. Ash’s Z-Crystal collection kept on growing bigger through his adventures in Melemele and Akala Islands, and even clears its respective grand trials. We were also introduced to a little Cosmog turned Solgaleo, Nebby. The bad guy in Faba to steals Nebby however to summon, an Ultra Beast (Nihilego) that would eventually consume Lusamine (just like in the games, only she is less obsessed here). Thus, a Z-Powered ganbaLilie was born to save her mom! With the help of her brother and friends of course. We had family matters like Sophocles thought he was moving a way for good, and fun little fillers like the pancake and Charjabug races, or raving with an Alolan Dugtrio blonde wig. A personal favorite of mine was when Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio had mini-adventure of their own, and outsmarted Team Rocket nasty schemes. Speaking of Team Rocket, we got a short glimpse of them versus a trio of Team Skull members. Kukui’s class activities like the baseball teams, camping outdoors, switching Pokémon partners with fellow classmates for the weekend, and sleeping over at the professor’s house were awesome too! Their field trip seeing the beautiful white-colored Aether Paradise, and traveling through the mysterious Ultra Space were treat as well. We got to see the development of Kukui and Burnet’s pre-married relationship, which wasn’t featured in the games…AND WE GOT A PROPOSAL AND WEDDING OUT OF IT! There’s a reason for the animation change, and to be honest I’m happy that they did! The art style definitely fits the tone and theme of the jolly Alola region. In conclusion, 2017 was a pretty cool year if you ask me!
2018: The People of Alola vs. Necrozma
Tumblr media
September 13, 2018 The conclusion to the Poipole/Necrozma arc is probably the biggest highlight for this year. In Japan, this marked a major end of an era because this was also the final episode on a Thursday night (for 20 years!) since the series was officially moving to Sundays starting with the episode after this (~pika ;3).
Tumblr media
From Gladion joining the Ultra Guardians, to Team Rocket’s Matori Matrix attempting catch a fused Necrozma, to Nebby returning to assist with the mission, to rescuing and healing a weakened Lunala, to visiting Poipole’s home world and hear a Naganadel talk in their minds…I’m at the edge of my seat! The Masked Royal’s identity was first exposed here too when Faba fought alongside Kukui to ward off the Matori Matrix. Luckily Faba can keep a secret. The whole time this arc felt like it could be one Pokémon movie. This should probably make-up for why there really isn’t an Alola region based Pokémon movie for this series specifically. But going back on topic, the entire region of Alola was still in crisis as Necrozma absorbs all the Z-Power the Ultra Guardians tried to strike back with. At this point, Nebby was already fused with the Necrozma and they knew that they had to separate them just like what happened with Lunala. So what does everyone do in a time like this? UNITE! Not just the Guardian deities, not just the Ultra Guardians, not just the Aether Foundation, not just the Kahunas participating in the Manalo Festival, but Alola as a whole teamed up in various locations where citizens swarmed together and gave their “light” by doing Tapu Koko’s pose to bring Necrozma back to its original form, The Blinding/Radiant One! Nebby has been freed, and rejoins the Ultra Guardians.
Tumblr media
In one last Ultra stand, Nebby (with Ash holding Solganium Z) and Lunala (with Gladion holding Lunalium Z) gave one final blow to Necrozma with some Ultra Aura. After unleashing the combination of Z-moves, Ultra Necrozma rises from the light and uses its power to restore all the damage that has been done to Alola, thus ending the chaos ensuing in the region. The Matori Matrix did try to go to Ultra Space when an Ultra Wormhole opened, but Tapu Koko was like “not so fast!” eventually forcing this Team Rocket unit to retreat.
Tumblr media
Not only did they save Alola, but also brings back light to the Poipole home world. Of course the most emotional thing out of all this was saying goodbye to our little sticky Poipole friend who had remain in its home world. It left its home world to find a better home, and it did when Ash gave Poipole a spot in his team and is even an official member of the Ultra Guardians squad. Now that the home world has been restored, Poipole knew it needed to stay and protect its original home from further threats. As the Ultra Wormhole closes with Nebby and Lunala accompanying the Ultra Guardians back to Alola, Poipole painted Ash & Pikachu’s face as a sweet goodbye gesture. The flashback scenes, and the music in the end was absolutely magnificent to top it all off! This teary goodbye even had me tears. We’ll forever “like, like, love” you, Poipole <3 Maybe Ash will see it again one day...oh who am I kidding xD If you’re up to date with the anime, you know already what happens in the future ;]
Tumblr media
Honorable mentions from this year: The year of Ultra Guardians! They’ve had multiple missions in bringing back the Ultra Beasts to where they came from.  Anime debuts of Ilima, Mina, and the long-awaited Hau make their respective appearances. We also got to see James “fighting” a Toxapex, Lana & Mallow’s childhood past, Lillie getting her first Z-Crystal and even Rotom Dex joining the set of Detective Laki. There were significant evolutions like Ash’s Litten evolving to Torracat starting its rivalry with Masked Royal’s Incineroar (while Burnet fangirls over them) and Mallow’s Steenee evolving to a Tsareena. And how can I forget Sandy/Nagisa? Those Eevee mini-specials ultimately led it to Alola for our great Lana to catch! The Ula’ula trials were highly significant too when Ash trained with Acerola and tested his strength against Kahuna Nanu. Specials include Mallow’s big brother visiting home, and the 2-parter with Dia and his Zeraora in the mysterious Ultra Ruin. For Team Rocket, they temporarily get an Alolan Meowth, but got a permanent family member with a Stufful later on (Bewear’s child!). I’ve gotta mention the fun ones too like Ash dressing up as a female nurse the class helping Nurse Joy at the Pokémon Center, the class making their own school play, and Faba accidentally shrinking Ash, Lillie & Sophocles. Finally, in another emotional themed episode, Molayne showed everyone the beauty and sad reality of the Minior Pokémon at the Hokulani Observatory. Such a strong theme of having precious memories with a sad outcome due to the nature of that certain Pokémon :( Just look at the variety! I could still go on, but in summary was 2018 one heck of an ULTRA year!
2019: Ash wins the Alola Pokémon League 🏆
Tumblr media
September 15, 2019 In the last highlight of this 2010s decade, it may probably be the biggest one. Ash vs. Gladion. Pokémon League finals to determine the first ever champion of Alola. I’ve already made several posts about this (maybe one too many) in my blog, so let me quickly reiterate the significance of this special event one last time. First thing I have to mention, is that Ash’s rivalry with Gladion has been amazing from the get-go. From their first meeting at the beach by Kukui’s place with a feisty Rockruff that wanted to battle, to the Manalo Stadium battling for a prestigious championship title with Ash’s Lycanroc fully controlled over its rage with dirt. It wasn’t a traditional full 6-on-6 battle, but the 3-on-3 showdown still gave us one heck of battle! It may not be considered the best battle of all time, but it was still an amazing and fun match between two trainers who promised each other to meet in the finals of the big stage since the start of the League.
Tumblr media
The laugh they shared, the flashbacks that was shown to us (with the awesome Type: Wild! music playing in the background), and their storytelling on who wants the W more makes you invested, and cheering for Ash all the way to finally win a major Pokémon League. Ash’s newly evolved Melmetal showcased it’s new strength but still wasn’t able to beat Gladion’s Silvally. Then, when Zoroark and Pikachu knocked each other out, it was the 1v1 Lycanroc battle that really put this friendly and competitive rivalry full circle.
Tumblr media
Ash has NEVER defeated Gladion…until this moment. He’s been training for this, and it finally paid off. The two Lycanroc’s took no prisoners and went back and forth with one another. In the final blow of that match, Gladion’s Lycanroc used Counter against Ash’s Lycanroc that was charging towards it, but then our big brained hero fights back with their own Counter attack.
Tumblr media
Never have I heard of countering a Counter in the Pokémon universe, but using it in this one moment nobody expected, was a perfect opportunity to swerve fans with Ash almost losing the match but ultimately gave the hypest and sickest counterattack ever that would knock out Gladion’s Lycanroc to the wall. And for the first time since the Orange League, Ash is a Champion. Only this time it is a way bigger deal! Mostly because this is a game-based series which has more meaning when it comes to the Pokémon League. He proved non-believers wrong thinking that the Kalos League was the closest he’ll ever get to victory, but I always knew he would win this one since this League started. If you look at my Twitter, I predicted it since last July and this is speaking from a person that DIDN’T believe he would have won at Kalos (I must be good at League predictions then lol). But even Ash himself couldn’t believe it. The moment his named was announced the victor and everyone cheering him, it took a moment for him to process it all until he realized he won the whole shabang. Old fans, new fans, and casual viewers a like were buzzing within 24 hours after this episode released in Japan that caught mainstream media attention. People who have never seen a Pokémon anime episode in their life (or a subbed episode for that matter) past the original series, wanted to see how this episode went down to see a childhood hero achieve a major trophy.
Tumblr media
This is how big of a pop-culture icon Ash & Pikachu was among many generations of fans since the show’s launch internationally. To me personally, it was the reason why I’ve always watched this anime for years since 1998 as a kid and NEVER stopped watching (took a few breaks here and there growing up but still have been consistent and up to date! Never grew out of it whatsoever ...why would I even made this decade post?). I was waiting all that time for him to win the big one and he finally did it in 2019. The long journey was worth watching all those episodes (NEVER skipped a “filler”). I doubted at times, but deep down I know I always believed. I grew up with Ash and he feels like an imaginary brother. Seeing him hold that trophy felt like my childhood had closure. He became the FIRST EVER champion in the Alola anime-verse and no one can take that away from him. BUT, the journey isn’t over yet. Remember, his dream is to become Pokémon MASTER, NOT a CHAMPION which people often treat the two as the same. He probably still wants to go to more places, so he can get stronger and be friends with even more Pokémon. Finally, I’m glad that it was Gladion who was Ash’s opponent in order to get the title. The boys and the doggos shake hands in the end as sign of respect for one another. Unfortunately, Guzzlord had to ruin the closing ceremony afterparty…but our Alola Champion and his friends were able to take care of that properly :)
Tumblr media
Honorable mentions from this year: Another marked an end of an era, but a start of a new one too! From overcoming his final Grand Trial and gathering his Z-Crystals, Ash was ready for the League. If you ask me, this was one of the best Pokémon Leagues ever because of how much importance each competitor played a role in that tournament, and the match-ups were good. It wasn’t just filler characters or last minute rivals. Alola had a lot of great characters! I couldn’t stress that enough. But besides the historic Alola League, we also saw the continuation of Brock & Misty’s trip to Alola, the class’ crash-course golf lessons with none other than Kahili! Ash catching a rare Meltan that appeared out of nowhere, Guzma’s debut that EVERYONE was excited about, Ash challenging Ryuki’s Kantonian Gym, Lana’s fully evolving Primarina (thanks to hooking a Kyogre mind you!), Mallow’s meal for Tapu Koko, and Matori’s unexpected visit to the Team Rocket base in Alola. Ash even time-traveled to the past and met Kukui when he was little. It would ultimately build up to the actual final full 6-on-6 battle between Ash faces Kukui (just like in the original Sun & Moon games), and it was a 5-STAR BATTLE in my book for this 5-PARTER battle. Seriously, they didn’t had to make an exhibition match that good but they did, and Ash WON that too! Ash’s Incineroar evolved and Pikachu finally defeats Tapu Koko in a battle. For the feels portion of this year, Mallow briefly reunited with her mom and getting a Shaymin to care for in the process. The whole side-arc with Lillie, Magearna and a missing Mohn had a huge impact on our young miss. She got a Z-Ring out of it, just like everyone else in the class with their respective focus. And, the final episode of Sun & Moon was probably the most emotional farewell episodes in the anime’s history similar (or even greater) than Brock & Misty’s goodbye in Johto for you nostalgia fans out there. Everyone in the Alola crew knew what to do post-League, but for Ash, he wanted to explore the Pokémon world more, which transitions to the new on-going series today. 2019 of the Pokémon anime will never be forgotten!
LET’S GO to the 2020s and beyond!
We already got a taste of what the new series brought us late 2019, from Pikachu’s pre-series background story to our newly appointed research fellows, Ash & Go. It is was Lugia brought these two together, and are now living under the same roof. And with Go having his newly caught Scorbunny by his side after that Gigantamax Snorlax incident, it shows us a little taste of the cool new adventures await them when traveling in the Galar region. It’s also refreshing to see updated animation within Kanto where they’re home base is at, and I absolutely cannot wait for them to go back to other past regions with this fresh new art style. With Go’s goal to catch every Pokémon there is for him to index, he’s bound to meet Mew again one day! He’s literally every Pokémon games’ protagonist and I’m glad we have a main character like him who actually focuses on catching them all. As for Ash, he’s still our Ash carving his own unique path on his continuing journey to become a Pokémon Master because it’s more than being the strongest trainer and more than just catching Pokémon.
Tumblr media
Some people may not be invested in this series yet, but it’s okay as it is still new! Everyone has that “pacing is slow” excuse from EVERY anime series, or it may not just be your cup of tea. But, I’m sure it will definitely pick up the pace sooner or later especially with the upcoming episodes announced (as of this posting) getting a Koharu-focus episode and the debut of Galar Champion Leon facing off against another League Champion...the return of Lance! Now that’s hype...and that’s what I’m looking forward to in this series more returns and cameo appearances hopefully. They gotta make it special of course and not just some fan-service to please series-specific fans. Oh, and Ash competing in the Galar gym challenge too of course! In addition to that, we can look forward to the new movies in the 2020s! We already got a preview of the 23rd PokéAni film, Pokémon the Movie - Coco...so we Tarzan now?! and it looks like they’re still continuing the AU-verse Ash instead of using the canon series’ universe. I mean if The Power of Us was great, you gotta give this movie a watch too! This is what I love about the anime because it separates itself from their game counterparts. The anime is doing its own thing with their original stories to tell.
WOW! What a decade. I’ve put in a lot of time reminiscing my experience watching the anime this past decade on these 2-part posts, and I had a lot of fun. From being a high school student all the way to being a full-time working adult...time truly flies by quickly. If you’ve read everything I had to say (I’m sure there are a few typos I probably missed), then thank you for your time (and sorry for the dash spam lol)! Feel free share your own favorite PokéAni moment decade in the replies if you choose to do so. Also, check out the strawpolls I made for what you think the best Pokémon anime battle and movie is in the 2010s. Now, it’s time for us to GO to 2020 and the next decade of PokéAni to witness multiple generations of new Pokémon series to come (hopefully they’ll still be making them by the end of 2029...and your boy P J will still be watching as a 30+ year old adult, heh). Alrighty, let’s have some fun! ϞϞ(๑⚈ ․̫ ⚈๑)∩

do you have any hc for aged up Bonnie 👀👀
I DO ACTUALLY
-Going off of my future Sunnylemon headcanons, she works at a Pokemon daycare! She handles all of the grooming, feeding and miscellaneous tasks. She also plays with the Pokemon and is very close friends with all of them–she’s got a knack for bonding with Pokemon right from the start like Ash does!
-Every so often Meowth will drop by asking for a grooming session. Bonnie’s like “There’s literally one right down the street from your radio station why not go there?” and he’s just like “Nobody makes my fur look as glossy n shiny as you, twerpette”
-By this point she’s already traveled around a couple regions! Clemont didn’t want her going by herself so Ash called up May to ask if Max would be willing to tag along with her, since he started his journey at the same time. (Also possibly haven’t decided this yet but Molly might join them as well 🤔) The two of them started off going around Kalos (a second trip for Bonnie as a good starting point (which Clemont felt way more relaxed about) and a first for Max, so she got to show him around to all the great places she’s already seen!), then they went to Sinnoh (and met up with Dawn a few times), and then finally Galar! Bonnie of course took Dedenne with her, who Clemont traded to her as soon as she got her Trainer license. Right now they’re taking a break from traveling–Bonnie’s back in Kalos, where she works at the daycare, and Max is training under his dad. He’s not sure if he wants to take over the Petalburg Gym Leader position, but he’s thinking about it! He calls Clemont up to ask for advice.
-There may or may not be a thing going on between Bonnie and Max–nobody knows for sure. Max would definitely like Bonnie’s personality and her spirit, but Bonnie might think Max is a bit too similar to her brother to really consider it…but who knows!
-While Max was definitely interested in Pokemon battles and went around collecting Gym badges, Bonnie liked battling too but her passion wasn’t really in Gym battles. I think she’d be more focused on meeting as many Pokemon as possible, to fill up the pages of the Pokedex to help out Professor Sycamore!
-When Bonnie found out that both Ash and Gladion were dating Clemont, she was like “Wait wait WAIT Clemont both Ash AND Gladion are going to keep you?? THAT’S AMAZING!! They’re both keepers for sure, they’ll take great care of you!” and he’s just sitting there hiding his face and blushing for all to see lmao
-Sometimes Bonnie will help out Serena with her Showcases, and will occasionally make guest appearances onstage with her! She puts on a very good show, she definitely does not have stage fright like Clemont does lol
-Bonnie is the most frequent visitor to Ash, Gladion and Clemont’s house. Some days they’ll just come home to find her lying across their couch like “Hey, what’s for dinner? Also don’t forget that Dawn’s contest performance is being broadcasted at 8 tonight” and they’re just like. Welp. Okay
She has their extra key so she just breaks into their house all the time lol
-I probably should have mentioned this before BUT going with the timeline, in this AU at least she’s around 13-14, but she acts way more mature than that sometimes :’) Her journeys have helped her grow a lot, so she’s definitely a far cry from how bratty she could be sometimes when she was going around Kalos the first time.
-Her current team consists of Dedenne, Floette, Ribombee, Whimsicott, and Audino! (So yes, she’s essentially a Fairy-type trainer.) She also occasionally uses that one Tyrantrum she met and Squishy if it happens to be available to her lol

by last 2 gens, I meant SUMO and SWSH. I loved XY, but liked SUMO characters better. USUMO could have made great sequels. Lillie as prof. Gladion as champ, Hau as a kahuna. Etc. Would also make the transition to wormhole traveling more realistic if they were set in a universe where the events took place. I loved Gen 2 for letting us see Kanto 3 years later, and BW2 for letting us see what's changed in Unova. Just frustrating with the direction of things
Whoops, sorry anon. I never got the notification for this, so this is probably a week old or so. Tbh, I feel you though. I don’t want to be a spoilsport, but it feels like the mainline games are riding somewhat on name brand at this point. Making games is hard don’t get me wrong, but there’s a lot going on w/ SWSH rn on release.
I love the whole sequel stuff, but my only concern is “canonzing a protag.” Like…look at Alexio/Cassandra from AC:O. Sheer madness in how those arguments go on “canon. Like, I like ambiguity because I can avoid that.
Tbh alongside the sequel idea and the coherency it would bring, I would love it if wormholes let you go to the OG timelines (RBY–>GSC, FRLG/RSE–>PDPT/HGSS->BW->BW2), and that’s why you get hidden abilities, rare Pokemon, and increased shiny chance. They could just explain it as the wormhole changing the Pokemon’s characteristics. RBY timeline is basically “no one had abilities,” hence the drastic changes, FRLG timeline could be “they decided to go with you, and now they changed to fit your timeline.”
Like they wouldn’t have to put every single region in; they could even just make it to where you visited parts of each region, perhaps the most iconic locations and/or moments, as a post-game/high difficulty thing (everyone is set to lv. 100 and have ideal spreads+sets). Like dropping in on Mt. Silver at the foot of the mountain, and have the area name pop up as “???” and have the player traverse the dungeon (w/ the HGSS encounters but inflated to 80s-90s so the observant veteran player can go “hmm this is familiar”) and have it accumulate in walking in on EthanVSRed on Mt. Silver, and it ending up in a double battle with them. Like that would blow people’s minds and make them realize what the post-game is, a love letter to every single generation so far, and set the stage for the rest of the post-game.
They don’t even have to confirm the canon protagonist for Johto if they just cover them up in snow gear (ie. put a cloak on them and have the hood up), and give them Meganium, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Tyranitar, Raichu, and Espeon/Azumarill. The three starters, the Pseudo-Legendary of the generation, Raichu to parallel Red (also small callback to how Ethan was supposed to be Red’s younger brother in the old GBC pamphlet), and Espeon if they want to showcase the OG day/night cycle gen+it being the gift Pokemon and a Easter egg part of Red’s original team. Azumarill is if they prefer to reference the childhood friend.
They could even make this a chance to up the difficulty through the excuse of “alternate universe/wormholes caused their Pokemon to change abilities.” Make Red’s and Ethan’s teams complement each other and have them carry optimized spreads and sets for doubles. Ex. Blastoise or Pikachu with Fake Out and Focus Sash sets up rain and Ethan’s Raichu w/ Air Balloon/Choice Specs and carrying Thunder+Surf and has Lightningrod (wormhole shenanigans gave it a Hidden Ability) and so forth. Give them things such as Magic Bounce Espeon, Dual Screens Meganium, Mega Charizard X (wormholes made it happen), etc. Just showcase them as a bonus challenge and their status as legendary trainers akin to Mameo from Digimon. Perhaps give a reward of something like “Red gave you that extra Master Ball he never used” or a music player from Ethan so you can listen to curated songs from the older games. Or even simply clothes modeled after their original designs (Leaf and Kris outfits for girls and Red+Ethan for boys; or make it all available as unisex outfits where the inspiration is obvious but it’s not exactly the same).
And if they want to make it even more of a nostalgia bomb, have Ethan’s Raichu have a spiky/notched ear to imply that it’s a timeline where the special Pichu evolves and had Surf instead of Pain Split as the special move.
Other iconic moments could be dropping in at Turnback Cave and traversing Distortion World again and saving on Lucas, Dawn, and Cynthia and rescuing them from Giratina. Reward is catching Giratina and a battle against Cynthia, Lucas, Dawn, and perhaps Cyrus. Avoids picking a canon protagonist and arguments over who should have showed up. Focus is single battle gauntlet with each trainer giving a choice on whether you want to heal after each victory (exception is Cyrus).
Have Lucas/Dawn mention how they like trading and that’s why one of them has two starters (or multiple gift Pokemon) to help avoid narrowing down the canon protagonist. Lucas could work in Trick Room (Torterra, Cresselia/Dusknoir, Vaporeon, Magnezone, Heatran, Machamp). Showcases the notorious number of roamers/legendaries in Sinnoh, Mt. Coronet evolution, trade evolutions (GTS), a new gimmick of the gen in Trick Room, and incorporates a gift Pokemon). Dawn could work with Iron Fist Infernape, lead Empoleon w/ Stealth Rock (showcase that infamous entry hazard), Paraflinch Togekiss, Porygon-Z, Lucario, and Glaceon. Gift Pokemon+showcases the (then) new evolutions of that gen.
Have Giratina be like lv. 80-100 with Totem Pokemon stat to explain how in the darn, everyone lost with those sorts of levels.
RSE could be dropping in on Brendan and May going up Sky Pillar and setting Rayquaza off to stop Groudon and Kyogre, and it starts a side quest of following them to experience the climax of the Hoenn Saga. Climax is them itching for a fight from seeing your skills. Have Brendan (Sceptile, Mega Blaziken, Celebi , Salamence, Starmie, and Latias) and team up with Steven and May (Mega Swampert, Gardevoir/Gengar, Latios, Metagross, Jirachi, and Ninetales) with Wallace in a doubles. Both teams have callbacks to stuff like the manga (Brendan with Celebi and Salamence), references the two Pseudos of the generation, the roamers, trading with Orre for the promotions (Celebi and Jirachi for US and JP respectively) and Red/Leaf in Brendan’s case, Wally’s OG signature, or even the OG Mystery Dungeon. Have Brendan wear his Emerald outfit while May wears the Ruby/Sapphire outfit to blur who the canon protagonist is. Bonus fight could be seeking out Archie and Maxie in their atonement/voluntary isolation for a fight.
BW is dropping in on Hilbert and Hilda encountering Kyurem (since it feels wrong to interrupt N’s goodbye tbh). Teams would be [Contrary Serperior, Samurott, Victini, Archeops, Zoroark, and Mandibuzz] for Hilbert and [Emboar, Keldeo, Genesect, Volcarona, Braviary, and Carracosta] for Hilda. Their teams aren’t amazing, but it’s meant to showcase the generation’s fossils, gift/event Pokemon, and version exclusives. Have it be you saving them from the snow and from Kyurem. Have them talk about how they’re thinking of setting off together to find their friend N, and how much they want to see him again. Make it emotional and have them talk about what they’ve learned about Pokemon from him and their interactions on their journey.
BW2 is saving Rosa and Nate from Ghetsis’s murder attack and fight Ghetsis. After you all return to a Pokecenter, have the two of them challenge you to a Rotation and Triple Battle respectively. Rosa runs a rain team with Drizzle Politoed, Octillery, Smeargle, Kabutops, Kingdra, and Ludicolo while Nate runs a Sand Team with Hippowdon, Sand Rush Excadrill, Rhyperior, Garchomp, Scizor, and Gliscor. Have it be a gimmick to where weather is infinite again in this wormhole location since their teams are meant to be a callback to the weather wars of gen v and the stars of those teams.
And have N show up to thank you for saving Rosa and Nate since he was almost too late right as you are leaving through a wormhole. Have the player tell him about what Hilbert and Hilda said and how they want to meet him again+urge him to meet his friends again and have it end with N saying something to the effect of “…I’ll think about it.” and leave it on an ambiguous note to whether he will meet them.
And finally, have it end with Red encountering Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave and have it diverge by you saving him from Giovanni (he lied about quitting and it’s only after you defeat him that he leaves for isolation until Ethan/Lyra/Kris beat him up again). Ends on a note of “this is where it all began.” Reward is catching Mewtwo and battling Red in a single. Here, they can make his team diverge from canon because it’s pre-Mt. Silver Red/alternate universe. Alakazam, Dragonite, Zapdos, Persian, Eviolite Chansey, and Mew. Showcases popular threats of that gen+trade evolution, irony in Red having Meowth’s evolution (Giovanni is associated with Persian b/c anime), the mythical #151 and source of playground rumors, the pseudo, one of the “your reward for exploring” stationary legendaries, etc.
Could even do a bonus of letting you travel to Kalos (but just the port) and meeting Serena and Calem who are both arguing about fashion while waiting for Sina and Dexio. Make their reason for battling you something lighthearted like you interrupting their argument to say “both of your fashion senses suck.”
Have them carry [Delphox, Chesnaught, Tyrantrum, Furfrou, Mega Gyarados, and Goodra] and [Greninja, Talonflame, Aegislash, Mega Kangaskhan, Meowstic-M, and Aurorus]. Showcases starters, Megas, radical gender differences, fossils, popular threats of Gen VI meta, Furfrou cuts, etc.
And if that’s too much, just recreate parts of the legendaries OG encounter dungeons, Cerulean Cave for Mewtwo, Bell Tower for Johto, etc.
Like…Gen VII was the “this is the 20th anniversary of Pokemon” gen and that would have been a great time to pack everything into one gen. Like…they had space for multiple walking Pokemon animations on the cart that they could have taken out or even tweaked these ideas so the dungeons would be slightly smaller (ie. fit to cart) or reduce the weirdly high number of Lillie models in the game. This isn’t an entire region (or regions) either, but snapshots and small locales to revisit. It also incorporates more fights with the Team Leaders at higher levels and difficulty.
Like idk, I made myself sad because I realize this would never happen unless some mad lad decided to create a massive rom hack/expansion, Masuda gets a larger team (and Pokemon stops with the yearly releases so the team isn’t pressured as much), etc.
Idk, I feel like the games for the 20th ani weren’t as good in hindsight for what they made out to be a year of Pokemon. But that’s just me griping again about Alola.
Also perhaps solviing all this gives you a final wormhole where you’re taken to fight Leaf. Give her Clefable (Clefairy’s original yet scrapped mascot thing), Golem, Flareon, Jolteon, Aerodactyl, and Omastar. Showcases fossils, gift Pokemon, other Eeveelutions, etc.

I see a lot of posts about what kind of Pokémon people would have. Personally, I'd want to live somewhere like Kalos (it's closest to my native Britain) with @theratherapprehensivebirdy, preferably in an old castle or near a mountain.
I'd spend my days raising Dragon types, making supply runs riding on Hengroen (my Mudsdale), fencing with Excalibur (Aegislash), trying to figure out how to breed a Tyrantrum with wings and trying to convince my girlfriend that given that I'd reared every Dragon on the estate, the chances of them trying to eat her are remarkably slim.
I'd let Broceliande (Trevenant) sleep, seemingly dormant, his roots spread out under the grounds, connected to every tree in the area. Who needs a burglar alarm when the forest itself is watching?
Obviously, this would all require a great deal of capital, but I imagine there's a market somewhere for a man with a thunder of Dragons under his command. After all, the rule of six at a time only technically applies to battling. I'd also allow visitors to the estate, whether to buy an egg or to study the Dragons. Heck, maybe a petting zoo for the chicks.
I would be content, I think, living with the woman I love most in the world, surrounded by fine and loyal friends and the best otherworldly protection detail the afterlife can provide.
And when I'm old and grey? That's when I start dressing in robes rather than the traditional Dragon Master cloak, make myself a staff from the fallen wood of Broceliande and travel about on Hengroen and convince fool youngsters that I'm a Wizard.

things i have Definitely decided for bonnie’s journey: -her pokemon are literally the sweetest outside of battle. you’re sad? prepare for a tyrantrum and garchomp hug. also they love treats. -bonnie/max is not a thing. nope. first of all bonnie is gay and second of all they’re like 10. -ash definitely shows up a few times and travels with them for a bit, just not permanently. same with may. -bonnie tries out contests/performances. she likes them, but she prefers battling. -iris, however. boy. she loves contests and performances a ton. surprisingly enough, max loves to help her plan and practice. bonnie enjoys dressing up the pokemon and helping iris pick her outfits. -iris struggles with the responsibly of being the ‘caretaker’ of the group. she often calls cilan and asks for help. -dedenne and emolga are definitely best friends. -max wins his first gym, and begins to get just a little bit cocky about his skill. on the second gym, however, his is completely defeated due to his lack of proper practice and not being able to counter the leader’s strategy. -bonnie loses the first gym, but it makes her work even harder to win. -iris decides to take on the league and challenge the gyms alongside bonnie and max. -iris, bonnie, and max all challenge the gyms in a different order, simply because they feel it wouldn’t be fair going in knowing the leader’s strategy from watching the others’ matches. they prefer waiting a few months and coming back, since the leaders grow in skill in that time as well. this leads to quite a bit of backtracking, but it’s worth it since they really feel challenged. -iris initially isn’t interested in mega evolution at all, since she doesn’t have a pokemon who can mega evolve yet (her gible isn’t evolved yet). she thinks that it’s really cool that pokemon can mega evolve. max, though, really wants a key stone and mega stone for when his kirlia evolves. he’s so fascinated with mega evolution, and eventually gets a key stone. bonnie thinks that her pokemon are really strong how they are! she feels that though it’d be cool to have a mega altaria or garchomp, it’s not necessary to her journey and she feels like she’d be relying too much on the evolution. she’s always happy to help max out, though! -bonnie, post xyz, began volunteering for sycamore at his lab, since she wasn’t on a journey anymore. sycamore gives her garchomp’s egg to look after, initially as an experiment about baby pokemon imprinting on humans, and he lets bonnie keep the gible. she meets iris while she’s visiting sycamore to learn more about fairy types! -max probably comes to kalos with may, because she wants to try out performances. after she decides they aren’t really for her, she prepares to leave, but max decides to stay. he’s journeying by himself when he meets iris and bonnie. after realizing they all traveled with ash, they decide to travel together. -may comes to visit max, which is why she travels with the group for a bit. same with ash, visiting clemont. -bonnie emails ash about her journey (complete with pictures and videos) every friday. they call each other every other tuesday. she calls clemont every sunday night. -meyer is so proud of bonnie for getting a mareep. -while they’re not stalked by team rocket, they do get into situations where they have to battle the remaining groups of team flare. they don’t consider themselves heroes, but they can’t back down from defending those in need, people or pokemon. -bonnie introduces max and iris to diancie and magearna. -bonnie fails to mention that squishy is a zygarde. max and iris are constantly hearing about “my old friend squishy” and how much bonnie misses squishy. they assume it’s a non-threatening pokemon like a pancham or swirlix. it leads to an… interesting time when a huge legendary comes to nuzzle bonnie and she proudly introduces “squishy”. iris dies a little inside when she realizes that one of her best friends has a bond with a dragon legendary. max is happy that she's able to be with squishy, since he can't be with jirachi. -iris catches a fairy type. -bonnie definitely has some leftover trauma from the flare takeover, and from the hoopa movie events. she has a ton of support from her companions though, and they always help her when she has nightmares. when she finds out that there's still bands of team flare members, she's ready to get back at them for how they hurt squishy.
