The ancient Egyptians also used chrysoprase for practical purposes such as sealing letters, but they would also wear pendants, amulets and other jewelry made of chrysoprase. For hundreds of years, the only major source of chrysoprase was a region of southwestern Poland between the Czech Republic and Germany, formerly known as Lower Silesia. This area has a complex geology and is extremely rich in all kinds of mineral deposits, including gold, silver, serpentine, quartz, marble, granite, alabaster—and chrysoprase. Stone artifacts from as far back as the Iron Age show the long history of Silesian carving and masonry. In the eighteenth century, Frederick II, King of Prussia (now part of Germany), conquered Lower Silesia. The Crazed Captain and his Insane Deity
This is a Sonadow Pirate AU that came to be after watching Sonic Prime, so I will be using the characters of No Place to help flesh it out.
Dread and his crew are looking for a challenge, one of his crewmates sees a wanted poster in the town they are currently staying in and asks Dread about it, if this is a good challenge. Dread grabbing the poster, thinking there's no harm in seeing what they found, only for Dread to rip the wanted poster and tells his crew that: "That...beast is not one to mess with."
The wanted Poster read as such:
WANTED: DEAD
"The Immortal Nightmare" aka Captain Shadow the Merciless
That he'll take on any challenge, expect that pirate captain and his crew.
Elsewhere:
Said Pirate Captain is counting the jewels and money from the rich townspeople his crew pillaged and stole from. Removing a emerald necklace from the pile and gifting it to his first mate, Sonic. "For you, Mi Amor." The captain spoke as he placed the necklace around Sonic's neck.
"Aww, how sweet of you. My favorite color no less." Sonic complimented, as he returned to helping the other organization his documents.
In Shadow's crew there were two rules:
1. Swear your unyielding loyalty to the Captain, or die a painful death.
2. Respect his first mate as if he was also the captain.
Follow those, and you were taken well care of in the crew.
Then one day, a power hungry Dread, takes on Shadow and his crew in a storm. Only getting a cheap victory because he tossed Sonic overboard, Shadow jumping after him.Dread takes the ship and crew for his own, a powerful amulet keeping the crew from fighting back.
Winding up on a stray life boat, Sonic is patching up his captain, said captain is plotting a revenge. "How dare that insolent fool steal my crew and my ship?!" Shadow angrily spoke. "When I find him, I will ring his neck from his body!"
"Calm yourself Shads. Anger won't get us anywhere, but that amulet..." Sonic speculated. "I believe the time has finally come."
The immortal captain looked up at his lover and first mate. "Is it one of the seven? To restore your powers?" He asked.
"I believe so, finally. I can begin my journey to reclaim what humanity stole from me." Sonic said with a twisted smile that did not phase Shadow.
You see, Sonic was actually an ancient deity by the name of O'brezean. He controlled all of the seven seas, the wind the blew through them, and could make sailors go insane just by looking at him. But somehow, someone bound the deity to this limited, physical form. If not for Shadow finding him when he did, who knows what would have happened to him.
Despite his powers being severely restricted, he still could make one feel insanity if he tried, which did not work on Shadow. For when you're cursed with immortality, and live for over 1000 years, your mind becomes the least stable thing about you. He quickly became Sonic's favorite mortal, especially since Shadow praised O'brezean instead of feared him.
"Then let's be on our way, this serves as even more motivation to kill that damn coward." Shadow said with a crazed look in his eyes. "Oh to have the honor of restoring you to your true self, if I hadn't already promised you my existence I would have done so now."
"My darling captain, so quick to violence for me. That's why I love you. You're the only mortal that can make me this ecstatic."
Truly, the two were a match made in heaven, or rather hell.
Thanks to Sonic's navigation skills, they quickly arrive at a island town, where they are confronted by Sails, who was part of Dread's crew. He begs them to stop the captain because he has gone mad with power. That he'll do whatever they ask, just to stop Dread. They agree and soon find Dread and the rest of his crew. A ego boosted Dread asking Shadow if he wants another round of losing.
Shadow laughs like a maniac. Telling Dread its clear he didn't do his research. Telling his crew taken hostage "you know what to do." His crew all cover their ears, confusing Dread and his crew, until a hypnotic "Lullaby" occurs, Dread and his crew falling to their knees like a heavy weight was keeping them down.
It was Sonic, Shadow grabbing Dread by the head harshly, asking him: "Did it never occur to you why I was so attracted to my first mate? He has the blood of the sea in his veins." There's a demented smile on Shadow's face. Sonic's singing helps their crew get out and back to the ship. Shadow telling Sonic to go back as well.
Now it was one against many. Unfortunately this where they learn why Shadow is called "The Merciless." One took out half of Dread's crew like they were nothing.
Taking the other half, the ones Shadow saw and knew meant the most to Dread hostage. He was simply returning the favor, as his sword pierced the other captain's stomach. "Relax, I didn't hit your vitals. No, I want you to experience something more painful. For foolishly believing you can mess with me and my crew, believing you could kill my beloved first mate. Only then will i have your head displayed on my ship."

Part one: Lost in the dream Part two: Back in the dream Part three: Through the Dreaming Part four: In the Waking World Part five: Before the Nightmare
***
"I work alone" these were the last words she said before entering the building. Alone. Morpheus refused to stay in the hotel room, he did not ask her to keep her company, did not argue, just walked with her all the way up to the entry door. Once there, she did not look at him, did not bestow a smile on him, did not utter a word, and neither did he. He just quietly observed her as she used the key and locked the door behind her. He thought to himself that perhaps he should give her some words of assurance, utter simple good luck, or be careful perhaps, after all, humans needed that. That stayed in his thoughts only. It was because of his actions she was here. He put her in this scenario. She was right, he could choose someone else, he could find John Constantine, who served him well in the past, and yet he choose her. Standing under a stone archway near the building she was in, he couldn't help but wonder about his decisions. And yet, he had to know...
"I want to see what she is doing," he spoke to his raven.
"Boss, are these doors stopping you from entering?" Matthew asked sarcastically.
"That was not a request." with that statement Matthew spread his wings and flew up into the sky. Morpheus could see her clearly through his raven's eyes.
Y/N was walking around the apartment with the speed and grace of a wild wolf, the kind that he had seen in the woods ages ago. Her delicate and fluid moves reminded him of woodland nymphs dancing in the moonlight, her sudden gazes and sharp head turns brought memory of a hunter stalking his prey. Even though the light in the apartment was turned off she seemed to see everything with perfect clarity. She moved from one corner to another corner of the apartment and placed protective crystals in each and every one of them. Pyrites, known for their ability to defuse destructive energy. "She knows what she's doing," he thought and observed how she removed the carpet from the floor to make sure that marked sigils are still there. Devils trap, an ancient magical symbol used for trapping demons in place. He had not seen this symbol for centuries. She carefully checked every line twice, making sure that the white paint is intact. With one swift move of her hand she placed the carpet back in its place, it was a small yet so interesting display of magic. She placed salt lines in every doorway and on every window, he had to order Matthew to fly away so she could not notice him. Yet for a moment she stopped and looked outside the window, carefully scouting the night sky and tree line. He decided that she could not see him. She marked the last salt line and retrieved a gun from behind her back. This took him by surprise. She must have hidden it earlier by the waistband of her jeans but he didn't notice. "How could I have missed it," he thought. Y/N unlocked the gun, reloaded it, checked the chamber, then tucked the weapon again behind her back. Lastly, she reached her hand into her neckline under her blouse and pulled out a necklace on top. He ordered Matthew to fly closer and saw that in her hand she held an amulet, a pentacle, and an amethyst, joined together. She squeezed the amulet tighter in her hand before letting it fall slowly back on her neck. She was ready. She backed away into the shadows and took a waiting position. Like a wolf crouched in the shadows waiting for its prey. In the darkness of the room, the only bright spots were the silver necklace on top of her black blouse and her shining eyes.
"Boss? You want me to get closer?" he heard Matthew's voice even though the raven was far away from him.
"No," he replied without saying any words out loud. With a corner of his eyes, he noticed the couple entering the building. The man looked proud, and the woman looked frightened. "Stay where you are," he added.
As the boss ordered so Matthew did. Not a long moment passed when the sound of the door lock opening made Y/N's eyes narrow and her position changed, ready to attack. She slowly pulled her gun from behind her belt and huddled in the shadows, waiting.
"The night was lovely," the woman, Christen, said with forced politeness. It always amazed Morpheus how easily humans lied to each other, how effortlessly they played their roles against their will.
"I want a drink," was the only thing the man said. All three Matthew, Morpheus, and Y/N saw him directing himself in the opposite direction from the one she was in. It was a waiting game. In the room she was in it was still dark. Purposely she selected the living room, based on Christen's letter mister Jackson, or at least the demon in him, played the role of career man. And what else career man can do after returning home other than drinking some fancy alcohol in his fancy chair while watching the news and making plans for the growth and expansion of his fancy business? So she waited.
"I'll get you one," Christen said "You go and relax hun" nervous blab came out.
Morpheus saw Y/N move herself up quietly, he knew it was a bad move from Christen's side, and so did she.
"Hun?" The demon stopped in mid-step "Hun? Are you fucking joking right now?"
"I don't know what you mean," Christen tried to shrug it off.
"Hun?" the demon laughed and what came out of his mouth made Christen shrink down a bit, "What did you do?" he growled
"I didn't do anything!" she defended herself "I just wanted to be nice!"
"To be nice?!" he took few steps towards her and grabbed her by the throat, he pulled her up in the way that she could no longer touch the ground with her feet and brought her crying face to him "And since when exactly you are nice you stupid useless blood bag?"
Morpheus saw Y/N securing her fingers on the gun while at the same time with her other hand reaching out for the knife. The waiting game was over, he knew that she didn't want to risk a woman's life, she rather risks her own. At the same moment when Morpheus ordered his raven to knock on the window to get the demons' attention Y/N jumped out of the shadows and threw her knife at the demon's back. She was no longer a wolf, she was a viper, attacking his oblivious prey.
"Hey! Fuckface! Leave her alone!" she taunted. She stood in the living room doorway, luring the demon in. The creature slowly released his hold on Christen's throat and turned itself toward her. He reached out and pulled the knife out of his shoulder.
"And who the fuck are you," his eyes burned red.
"I am Karma you ugly son of a bitch," she grinned at him.
Morpheus was observing it all with admiration and curiosity. To him she was so fearless at that moment, willingly putting her life in danger in order to save an innocent woman. At that moment, he realized that for her it wasn't because she had made a promise to help him, but because she had made a promise to herself to help this woman.
"Come on you ugly fuck, let's dance!" she taunted him even more.
And so it did. Upon seeing the carvings on the knife, the demon dashed toward her. Its speed was too great for a mortal, its agility too formidable for her to resist. But she did resist. She danced and whirled around him like the demon itself dodging his attacks and blows. Every time he tried to grab her she dodged, every time he tried to strike her with a knife she evaded him. She tried to draw him into the trap she had set. Not to kill, not to exorcise, she had to trap him. So she danced around him like a she-wolf dancing around her lured prey for several long minutes. Morpheus knew that for a mortal, a few seconds of such a dance with a demon seemed like an eternity. He saw Y/N weaken. The demon swung and cut her arm with her own knife.
She hissed at him and rolled backwards. She wanted him to follow her, and he did so right into the trap. Pretending to be defeated huddled on the ground she viciously waited for his final attack but it did not come. The demon raised his knife hand upward, took a swing but his hand hung in the air. Confusion painted itself on his face when he saw Y/N peering at him with a devious smile and satisfaction in her eyes. It was only at that moment that he noticed her outstretched hand and spread palm facing him. She smiled venomously and pushed him backwards with her power, straight into the trap she had set.
"Witch," the demon gritted through his teeth.
"You know, I really do not like this word," she rose to a standing position and pointed her gun at him, "It has a bad ring to it, "she sassed and fired her gun.
The demon only laughed at her with hoarse growl.
"Gun?! Really?!" he taunted "I'm a demon you stupid bitch! Gun can't hurt me!!"
Morpheus watched as Y/N's took several steps toward the demon. Her movements smooth and confident, there was not a trace of fear in them. A sinister smile adorned her face, betraying that she knew something the demon did not. Her eyes narrowed, satiated, she had him exactly where she wanted him. She approached him at arm's length and looked at him menacingly.
"I know," she said quietly, "But it can trap your sorry ass." with a smooth motion of her hand, she pulled the rug out from under his feet with power, knocking him over in the process. The devil's trap was revealed. The demon growled at her dangerously. "Oh stop with the growls, they are ridiculous!" she laughed at him "This is how it's going to be," she crouched down and stretched her open hand in front of her, making her knife obediently fly to her, "As you see, devil's trap," she twirled the knife in her fingers, "that bullet in you, enchanted, so if you were thinking about leaving this body, don't bother" she grinned at him.
"You killed this body," he said, the tone of his voice becoming more cautious.
"Do I really look I care?" she raised her eyebrow.
Morpheus was observing all this through his raven eyes in amazement. Eons of existence had made him stop noticing the complexity of mortal creatures, the delicacy of their existence, the strength of their being. He stopped noticing the beauty of mortal life. He watched Y/N with bewilderment, so merciless and yet so kind, so gentle and carefree and yet so threatening, her life could have fled at any moment but at that moment, at that moment he knew Y/N felt more alive than ever.
"What is the point of all of it," Demon asked "Just exorcise me and let's be done with it."
"Oh, wouldn't you want that," she made a dismissive gesture with her knife "I've got some questions for you."
"Do you now?" he growled.
"There is a rumor on the street that one of you sons of bitches has something that belongs to one of the Endless," she started "I want to know which one."
"Oh come on Witch!" he emphasized the last word "You do not actually expect that I'm going to tell you anything!"
Y/N extended her hand in front of her and turned her wrist slightly. The demon immediately fell to the floor and recoiled in pain catching his guts.
"Actually, I do!" she smirked at him and stepped closer positioning herself right at the edge of the circle of devil traps, "Dreams helm, who has it!" she said with a commanding voice.
"Don't know what you're talking about!!" the demon knelt down and shrieked in pain.
Morpheus watched her display of power with fascination. She only grinned wider and twisted her wrist a little more. The demon wailed in pain and the infernal sounds echoed throughout the room.
"Morpheus. Helm," she demanded, "Name."
"Never heard of it..." the demon started but before he could finish Y/N stretched her other hand in front of her causing the demon's body to convulse.
"Name," she demanded.
"This is not how we do things, your kind, and mine, " he choked out, "I possess and you sent me back to hell."
"Oh I'm changing the rules, " she smugged "You going to give me the name and I will kill you."
"You cannot kill me," he reeled in pain.
"You wanna bet?" she grinned and twisted both of her hands slightly.
"Stop!!!" the demon wailed pleadingly "Fine! Fine! I'll tell you! Just send me back to hell already!"
"Go on,"
"It's Etrigan! He's got Dreams helm!"
She twisted her hands making his body twitch again. The drool rolled out of the demon's human mouth, blood began to flow from his eyes and mouth but she did not stop pressing. Morpheus calmly observed her mercilessness, watched her power, the power he hadn't seen in millennia. The power that should have ceased to exist long ago.
"I've...told...you...," he was choking on blood.
"You lied. I hate liars." she replied calmly "I know Etrigan, I know you are lying. Tell me who has Morpheus's helm!"
"So you could run back to him and tell him?" the demon suddenly rose his bloody eyes at her and smiled horribly "Tell me, Witch, what did he promise you that made you do his bidding?"
A shadow of surprise flashed across Y/N's face upon hearing the demon's words. Her pressure on his mangled body eased enough for the demon to rise to his knees and look at her with his deformed bloody face.
"You from all people should know that dreams do not come true," he laughed mockingly and followed with his eyes to the window, "Dreams' puppet on the strings. He already knows who you are, bitch."
Seeing this, Morpheus ordered his raven to retreat immediately but it was too late. Through the raven's eyes, her gaze met his. A mixture of rage and disappointment stirred in her eyes. Before he had time to retreat Y/N's smirked and with a smooth movement of her hand created a wall of blackness dividing him from her, blocking his view.
"I am no one's puppet" she gritted through her teeth and pressed the demon to the floor with all her power. Its body opened with a thousand wounds, blood began to ooze onto the floor in continuous streams, while the demon inside the human body began to burn. As if in the distance she heard the woman's terrified screams but she ignored them. All her power was focused on the demon and only it. Furious, betrayed, she vented all her anger, all the frustration she had been bottling inside her for months on the bleeding human body and its demonic parasite.
"It's Choronzon..." the demon grunted out and blood splattered from his mouth "His name is Choronzon..."
"See, that is what I call cooperation," she smirked and amplified her power on the demon tearing its form from the inside piece by piece.
"You have to send me back to hell..." she heard but a sound coming out of the hole where there used to be a mouth. "You...can't...kill me...Lucifer...you can't..."
"Watch me," she smirked and abruptly spread her outstretched arms in front of her. The demon rose several feet above the ground...
"Y/N Stop!" she heard a distant commanding voice. Morpheus stood in the doorway of the room, his eyes focused on her. Her power enthralled him, almost with the same force with which her unbridled anger saddened him. "I command you to stop!"
"Listen to your boss witch," she focused on the growly noise in front of her. These were the last sounds that he made. She twisted her spread arms and ripped him into pieces. The human body exploded splitting the blood all over her, the demon vanished.
Morpheus watched her bloodied tired figure breathing deeply, with calmness, as if something horrible had just escaped her body. She slowly opened her eyes and looked at him. Anger and disappointment gave way to satisfaction and amusement. She smiled warmly at him.
"See?" she smirked, "I told you that I will get you his name" she took two steps towards him but her knees collapsed beneath her. She was exhausted. She has kept her promise...
***
You really wanted to keep your posture but you had to admit to yourself, that you exhausted your body more than ever before. You took two steps toward Morpheus and you felt your knees bending under your own weight. "Fuck!" you swore in your thoughts attempting to stand straight but your legs refused to obey you. The feeling of relief came out of nowhere, just a swift gentle wind around you and suddenly you could stand up straight again. You felt Morpheus's solid yet delicate hand on your lower back, while his other placed your arm over his shoulder. That brought chills down to your spine and somehow terrified you more than the demon you just killed. His eyes were staring at you relentlessly with a mix of care, sorrow, and something else, something that you could not name. His marble face was so close to yours, that you could feel his breath calming your skin, bringing the scent of an endless green field and mountain breeze when suddenly you realized...
"I have demon blood on my face, have I?" you asked shyly. He only smiled slightly with his barely visible smile. "Oh god," you buried your bloody face in his shoulder embarrassed, "Oh god!" you gasped upon seeing bloody stains on his perfectly black coat.
"Don't worry about it," he said quietly, "You killed him..." he looked at the remaining parts of the host body.
"Yup!" you were proud of yourself "and I got you the name! Cha...Cho..." you struggled "Charizard!"
"Choronzon," he corrected you.
"That!"
"You should not have done that," he stated quietly.
"What the fuck you mean I shouldn't do that!" you frowned "he was a demon, and now there is no demon! One point for me, zero for Hell!"
"We should go," he stated again. You were starting to hate his commanding tone. He gently tried to direct your useless body towards the door.
"Wait..." you placed your hand on his chest not thinking about it twice, "I need a moment." you tried to stand on your own feet. Morpheus reluctantly moved his hand off your back making sure with his eyes that you would not fall. "I'm good," you tapped his chest gently, "I'm good..." you added more to yourself than to him.
You slowly approached Christen who was limping against the wall in terror. You extended your hand to her and her gaze followed looking first at your hand, then at your bloody smiling face. Christen grasped your hand and allowed you to help her stand on her own two feet.
"I'm sorry for what you had to witness," you started "I will admit that I used your case for my own gain. I needed that information," you explained, and upon seeing her nodding slightly you continued "You will be safe from now on. I find no word in me to express how sorry I am for the horror that you had to live through. But it is over now. You and your son will be safe. You survived the years of terror with him, you will survive this. You are a strong woman Christen. You will be alright," you held her hands in yours and spoke with a calm assuring voice.
"But how," she uttered with a shaking voice, "How do I move forward?"
"It's simple," you smiled genuinely, "You just have to believe that dreams, real dreams, do come true." you released your hands and looked back at the Dream with a smile on your face "We can go now."
He approached you and placed his hand back on your lower back but instead of directing you towards the door he reached down to his pocket and took out the pouch of sand.
"Dream I don't..." you stared but the way he looked at you made you stop mid sentence.
"Your body has been through enough today," he said calmly.
You saw him reach into the pouch and pull out a handful of sand. He let the golden grains sift through his fingers. To you, it looked like he let himself feel each and every one of them. He waved his wrist gently and the golden spirals wrapped around you, surrounding you with dancing sand on all sides. As it danced, whirled, twisted, enveloping you in golden dust, it transported you back to your hotel room in the blink of an eye.
"Magical..." you whispered. You wanted to move but you realized that his hand was still placed firmly on your back, "I've got your perfect coat all stained with blood," you tried to defuse the tension.
"You're hurt," he replied ignoring your previous statement.
"It's not mine," you looked down at yourself and noticed that you are covered in blood. You thanked yourself for taking spare clothes with you. You looked up at Morpheus standing still just an inch from you, "Did anyone ever told you that you have severe trust issues?" you smirked.
He only looked down on your slashed arm and back at you.
"I've had worst," you said, "trust me." you released yourself from his hold and moved to your bag for a first aid kit and spare clothes. You desperately needed a shower. "What now? We've got a demon name, what's our next step?" you asked.
"I'm going to Hell to retrieve my helm," he answered with as much ease as if he had said it would rain tomorrow.
"What?!" you gasped, "What do you mean, you going to Hell?! Like physically going to Hell, as in...as to Hell?!"
"My sand can take me there," he explained calmly.
"Hold on!" you dropped your first aid kit and your clothes onto the bed and walked towards him, "Here me out! You do not have to go to Hell!" he looked at you with curiosity and rose his eyebrow, "I know, I know, trust is not your strong suite and believe me we will talk about this, but if you would, if you could trust me again," you continued, "I could bring the demon to you!" you offered.
"You displayed remarkable power today," he noticed.
"Great!" you clapped your hands satisfied that he agreed even though he did not, "Summoning a demon is much easier than going to Hell and finding it don't you agree?" you smiled brightly, but when he did not reply you simply stated, "We gonna do some summoning and you will have your helm in no time! And now, forgive me my Lord, but I desperately need a shower."
***
~~Week later~~
You thought that you saw weird and unexplainable things in your lifetime, after all just a week ago you shredded a demon out of existence, but seeing Morpheus, the anthropomorphic personification of a Dream itself, sitting on your couch, in your apartment, causally sipping a tea from your favorite cup was the weirdest thing of them all. Somehow you convinced him that summoning a demon is better than going the Hell, and made him agree to your plan. Now, he was relaxing on your couch while you were peppering yourself and your surrounding for the summoning ritual. "Causal Sunday afternoon," you thought to yourself, "Litteral personification of a Dream and Witch preparing for summoning the demon."
"You're smiling," he noted. He seemed so relaxed in your presence, so humane, so normal, that for a moment you forgot who he really was.
"Nothing, it's just funny you know?"
"What is?"
"This!" you pointed out on the devils' trap, candles, herbs, everything around you, "You, me! This! It's kinda funny you know," you smiled.
"You do not seem to be uncomfortable," his lips twitched slightly.
"Neither do you," you smirked, "Alright! I'm done! Come here" you order him. He placed a teacup on the table and stepped closer, placing himself next to you, "Take my hand," you ordered but upon seeing his gaze you explained, "I know the demon's name, you know your helm which I have never seen. Combine these two, we have a stronger spell," he took your hand and locked it in his. "Now just relax, breath, and focus on your helm," you instructed and started an incantation.
Ad ligandum eos pariter eos coram me! Et ad congregandum eos coram me! Ad ligandum eos pariter eos coram me! Et ad congregandum eos coram me! Ad ligandum eos pariter eos coram me! Et ad congregandum eos coram me!
You were expecting the candlelight to go off, herbs to burn down and demon to show up inside the devil's trap. Instead, you felt the ground shaking underneath your feet, tipping over the teacup, throwing your books off the shelves. You closed your eyes, squeezed Morpheus's hand, and focused all your power on the spell.
Ad ligandum eos pariter eos coram me! Et ad congregandum eos coram me! Ad ligandum eos pariter eos coram me! Et ad congregandum eos coram me! Ad ligandum eos pariter eos coram me! Et ad congregandum eos coram me!
"Come here you stupid fuck!" you swore.
"But I am here..." you heard a gentle kind voice in your head. You quickly released Morpheus's hand and opened your eyes.
The ground shaking stopped, the spell was broken, and what you saw before you made the blood freeze in your veins. A picture of utter devastation and destruction unfolded before your eyes. The sky above your head was black and thick with smoke and the ground beneath your feet was scorched, dead. Before your eyes stretched a wall made of human bodies, deformed beyond recognition. In the middle of the wall was a narrow passage, a gate, surrounded by fire on both sides.
"I don't think we are in Kansas anymore," you gasped.
"No," Morpheus took two steps forward and positioned himself in front of you, hiding you behind his back, protecting you, "We are in Hell."

Authors note: Part six is done! Oh my lord, I had so much fun writing this chapter! Switching POVs, adding long awaited, at least by me, bloody horror element. It was awesome to write this! And now...what will happen now since we are not in Kansas anymore :) I hope you will like this chapter as much as I do :) I want to take a moment to thank you all again for all of your comments, likes, reblogs, and messages. You guys are truly amazing! You really have no idea how much this story, and all that happened after I published the first part, how much all this means to me. All I can do, as an expression of my gratitude, is deliver the best chapters I can possibly write. Sadly, I must inform you, that from now on I won't be able to publish as much as I did during this week. I had some time off work and I've been able to write every day. But sadly vacation is over, real life is calling, and I have to go back to work. Since I will have much less of free time I won't be able to publish daily. But I think I can do two chapters per week :) I really really want to continue this story with my renewed drive for writing. At last, as always, Dear Reader, thank you for reading :)

Welp. It’s all out. Season 2 has wrapped up…
I’ll probably write up my thoughts for the entire season sometime tomorrow after a rewatch as well as any notes on plot holes I gotta patch up,, I’ll say for now tho,, it was v,, strange.
My first impression on the ending was that it’s not good. I’m not sure if it’s just the writing tho?? I actually think it might be the cinematography in general, like the framing of some of the shots and the pacing between them.
I am so incredibly sick of the elves being basically the same as children. I could write a whole rant about that but I’ll leave it for another time. Betty fighting with a toy sword was odd and ooc imo.
Why call it an amulet when it’s not one? If it’s a chalice then just say that. It’s just as cool to say ancient power chalice. Like okay. An amulet can technically be any object (although it’s commonly thought of as a necklace/pendant) but the whole point of an amulet is that it grants the person protection. Not power. So, firstly they call it an amulet knowing it’s gonna make people think of a pendant of some kind, then it doesn’t even do what a amulet is supposed to do by definition. It’s a power chalice. Cool! Whoever drinks from it draws on the power of Christmas itself. That would be neat! Judy gave it to him and didn’t say nothing about it??? Girl what
Betty couldn’t make toys last season????? Okay queen of ✨improving yourself✨💅 okay progress 🤌✨ okay recognizing your faults and working of them 🙌✨at least I’m choosing to believe this is the case because otherwise it’s just another lazy plot hole BUT HEY I AM TRYING TO GIVE THIS EP SOME CREDIT HERE
So i guess Curtis blew up but then he??? Got better????? And he went to his own kribble krabble and never came back. Either he also found someone to settle down with or he was murdered. I think we know which one is the case. Forever in our hearts king 🫶
No further mention of Jack. Devastated is an understatement.
In conclusion, Scott’s beard is so short and it’s icky.

Glorious Masquerade spoilers #11
Tumblr media
Azul’s Group - Group A
We begin with Azul saying that they’ve ate and bought souvenirs. He asks if Deuce and Epel would like to take a stroll as they head to the festival venue. Epel says yes. He then notices the street full of vendors. Azul looks at all the food for sale like vegetables, fruits, bread, fish, processed meat, and cheese. He also points out the antique shops.
Azul wonders if there are restrictions in opening up a shop. If one strategizes well, they’ll be able to avoid competition, and gain an advantage in business. As far as he can tell, there are a lot of customers, so business is good. Epel mutters that it’s the seller’s point of view, not the buyer’s. Azul tells him that if one doesn’t put up the “antenna”, they’ll miss their chance. (Kind of a weird analogy. I guess in English, it’s “early bird gets the worm”.)
Just then, Grim notices Azul’s group. Trein asks them if they’re enjoying the City of Flowers. Azul replied that they’re having a very meaningful time. Fieldwork is fun! I had Yuu ask if they ate anything delicious. Azul says they did, and mentions the bread and sweets. Epel adds that Azul’s food report is amazing, and tells Yuu to listen to it next time. Grim is impressed, and would like to try the food too. Trein points out that Grim has eaten a lot on their way over, though.😆
Moving on, Trein asks the group if they plan to head into the vendor street. He’d like to tag along. Azul isn’t going to let this opportunity go, so he thanks Trein for his guidance. Epel notices a stall selling accessories.
Tumblr media
Deuce says it’s a necklace. Epel points out the shape in the netting as strange. Grim adds that it’s just a small, simple stone stuck in the net. Rather than that necklace, his ribbon is like a cloak and is much cooler.
Trein asks to see the necklace next. He says it’s a talisman passed down in the City of Flowers since ancient times. The shop manager tells Trein he looks like a tourist, but is very knowledgable. Trein modestly replies he’s only appropriately knowledgable for his age.
Anyways, Deuce asks what kind of blessing does the amulet give. The shop manager says that the legend states that “If you wear this amulet, the city will be yours.” Azul interprets this as if you have enough money, you can buy the city. The shop owner isn’t sure since it’s a really old legend, so who knows what it means.
Epel is dismayed that the shop owner doesn’t know what the amulet does. It makes him feel uneasy. Trein points out that when he first came to the City of the Flowers, there were many stalls selling the amulet. Now there are a few. The shop manager says the amulet wasn’t popular for long. It’s a local product that is not well known with tourists.
Azul thinks that the amulet is the perfect gift for Jade and Floyd. The amulet’s shape is unusual, and mysterious story will be loved by the two. It’s not too expensive, either. It’s just right!
Tumblr media
Azul turns to Yuu and Grim, and asks if they also plan to buy souvenirs. I had Yuu respond with the necklace, and Azul’s reaction does not disappoint. Even though it’s a plain necklace, Azul believes normal people won’t be okay with receiving that. He asks Yuu if they’re okay with it. Epel can see Floyd and Jade appreciating it before trailing off. Grim says he’s satisfied as long as his stomach is full. Deuce adds that maybe Ace might enjoy the necklace instead. (It might just be me, but I have a feeling Yuu will give this necklace to Malleus. In any case, I personally would have bought this necklace, too.)
Anyways, Trein comments that Group A seem to be going around the town in a planned manner with Azul leading the way. Deuce and Epel are very enthusiastic about learning, listening to everything their senpai has to say. He tells the group that he, Yuu, and Grim are fixing to leave. But, Trein wants them to learn well about the City of Flowers, and take the knowledge back to school as a treasure. Azul thanks Trein for his time, and says they’ll meet at the square later.
With Trein gone, Epel asks what they plan to do since there’s still time left until the meet up. Deuce wonders what to do next. However, Azul gives them both something he bought earlier at the shop.
Tumblr media
Epel notices it’s a long and beautiful pouch with pencils inside. Deuce says the the red pencil is Epel’s, and the yellow pencil is his. Deuce is surprised Azul is giving them that. Epel worries about the price, but Azul tells him not to worry about it. It’s a present for today’s commemoration. Hearing that, Epel is happy.
Epel says that if it’s a pencil from Azul, then studying will be much quicker. Deuce also feels that he’ll score a better grade next test. He never imagined getting a present. Azul mentions that the pencil comes from a manufacturer in the City of Flowers. Azul says the pencils are originally for sketching, but he found them easy to write with. He asks them to use the pencils to study hard. Deuce and Epel thank him.
Deuce says that Azul is pretty easy to talk to, and he jokes a lot. He originally thought he was a scary person. Epel says it’s a good thing to have been paired in Group A.
Azul quietly murmurs how much one pencil could do. He thought to get along with the first years for the sake of his school life. No matter how much vigilance, it’s never enough. Azul comments that Vil and Riddle will have a hard time doing that. Looking at the two makes Azul worry about the future of NRC. Epel asks him why, but Azul wants him to think about it. Anyways, Azul tells them they can’t waste any time. He tells them to go to the next location.
To be continued…

Fascination, Determination, Obsession
An eighth year fic where Harry learns the Dark Arts (also on AO3)
Harry didn’t look too closely at the walls as he made his way through the school. It had only been partially repaired, and the mess that was Hogwarts made his skin go cold. There were quite a few workers still bustling about, trying to finish their jobs before the new school year started in a few days. Harry kept his head down and moved quickly towards the headmaster’s office. He fiddled with a necklace he had wrapped around his wrist.
“Mr. Potter, glad you could make it. Thank you for coming in early.” McGonagall greeted from behind her new desk.
Harry gave a polite smile in return, but he was immediately distracted by the other student in the room.
“Malfoy.”
“Potter.”
McGonagall cleared her throat, gaining their attention again. “The reason I called both of you in here is because, due to the circumstances, you two will be sharing a room for the year.”
Malfoy huffed and rolled his eyes while Harry tried (and failed) to keep his eyes trained on the professor.
“I’m afraid others have a stronger resentment towards Mr. Malfoy, so this is the best option,” she said rather matter-of-factly. Sensing rebellion, she added, “All the eighth years are in pairs. No exceptions.”
The professor then went on to explain some of the general rules for their returning grade.
As Harry rubbed his eyes, Malfoy took the opportunity to look.
Potter held himself differently, though he still slouched into the chair. Horrid posture as always, Draco thought. But overall, Potter looked healthier, fresher. Even his unruly hair had been tamed – it was longer and still messy, but not terrible.
Though it was his eyes that took Draco by surprise. They were still framed by those hideous glasses. They were still that (stupidly pretty) vibrant green, yet they were dimmer. There was none of that overbearing fondness towards the headmistress like he had seen before the final battle. Potter was politely acknowledging her and nothing else. There had been more emotion in his eyes directed towards Draco.
And Draco wanted to discover whatever it was that caused that change. As always, he was immensely curious about the other boy, though he would never admit it out loud.
Potter suddenly looked at him, and Draco was able to see it clearer. There was a darkness attached to the boy-who-lived, swirling around him, and seeping into his being. It was as if it was trying to attach itself to Potter’s magic.
Draco held the gaze. He was certainly going to figure out what had happened.
“Is that all, professor?”
“Yes.”
“Excellent,” Draco cut her off, rising from his chair. He hurried out of the office and down the halls, hoping he could get to the room first and have a few minutes to himself. However, he and Potter had this fun little thing going on where they practically stalk each other. And Potter had a well-known habitat of following him around.
“What, Potter?” Draco snapped, abruptly stopping in the corridor.
“Do you know what this is?” Potter asked, holding up his wrist.
Draco’s eyes narrowed. Wrapped around the other boy’s wrist was a black leather necklace that hung a small stone that was half covered in silver. And it exuded ancient, Dark magic. The small amulet used to be a common thing for Dark wizards to carry with them. However, they were now extremely rare thanks to the prejudice against the Dark Arts.
Having never seen one in person before, Draco longed to reach for it, to feel its magic thrum in response to his. But he stopped himself. He wasn’t daft.
“Why?”
Potter huffed. “A simple yes or no,” he snipped back.
“Of course, I know what it is,” Draco admitted, turning his nose up. “Do you?” he asked despite already knowing the answer. So what if he missed getting a rise out of people and that the wizarding world’s golden boy was the closest person? Besides, his favourite pastime used to be making those green eyes spark in irritation.
Before Potter had the chance to respond, his name was being shouted from down the hall.
With an eye roll, Potter turned to face the young-looking man that was rushing down the hall towards them. Though Potter never fully turned away from Draco. Draco who the young man ignored entirely. As much as that annoyed him, it gave Draco the chance to observe the entire conversation, uninterrupted. He did not miss the way green eyes became almost dead, looking the newcomer up and down, completely disinterested.
“Mr. Potter! I was hoping that after our class ends, you’d stop by the younger years and help me with a few demonstrations.”
“I am not taking your class, Professor,” Potter said, voice cold and distant.
Draco almost shivered as he watched green eyes grow dark with anger – proper anger compared to the slight irritation he had directed at the blonde. And he marvelled at the fact that this random professor was somehow ranked lower than him to Potter. It got Draco wondering about who else was subjected to the icy look Potter was giving the other man, and why he wasn’t one of those sods.
Oh, he was most certainly going to be keeping an eye on the golden boy this year. It seemed he would be more interesting than originally believed.
“There’s still time to change your schedule,” the man insisted.
“No.”
And with that, Potter spun and walked down the hall, dragging Draco with him. Picking up the pace as the turned the corner did little to deter the professor as they could hear heavy footsteps following. But before Draco could protest, he was being shoved into the wall – except, he went through an opening in the stone that silently shut as Potter came in after him.
Draco was disappointed that someone else know about the secret hallways, but more importantly, he was annoyed at being manhandled.
Yanking his arm back, he hit Potter on the arm.
“What.” Another hit. “The.” And another. “Fuck.” And another as he hissed out the words. He was seconds away from strangling the idiot, fingers twitching to do it.
And then Potter spoke up. “Sorry, that’s the new defence teacher.”
Draco’s anger quelled only in favour of his curiosity. He quirked a brow, crossing his arms as he started leaning into the other boy’s space. “The class you love so dearly? The one you taught yourself when Umbridge plagued the halls? Why, I thought you’d be dying to teach it, with your famous hero complex and all.”
Potter shook his head, loose curls bouncing along (not that Draco was paying attention, no).
“That class is rubbish, and that professor just wants to kiss my arse. He tracked me down to a muggle food store!” Potter threw his hands up before stuffing them into the pockets of his horrible pants. “I just wanted to buy stuff for brekkie.”
“My, my, what terrible problems you have. Fanfare, the horror.”
Potter glared at him. At least that was still normal. “They’re not even teaching them actual Dark Arts.”
Draco’s mind skidded to a halt. “And what do you know about the actual Dark Arts?”
It was fleeting, but Draco saw it. Saw the danger in those green eyes, the darkness, the hunger for knowledge and power. He felt the power that dripped off the other boy. And, oh, if that wasn’t an exciting idea. The Harry Potter, golden boy-who-lived and defeated Voldemort, with untouched power, messing about with the Dark Arts.
But if Draco was ever going to believe such a thing, he would need solid proof. Proof of what the other boy was doing, and that he had done it of his own free will. Because as enticing as it would be to watch the Gryffindor explore the Dark Arts, he wasn’t going to willingly give the ministry a reason to throw him in Azkaban with his father.
Well, not until his probation was over. Then he’d tell everyone where to stick their wands.
As the pair made their way through the hidden walkway towards the new eighth year area, Harry constantly shook out his hands. He was angry and his magic wanted to be used as an outlet. As relaxing as that sounded, he didn’t want to blow a hole through another wall. Besides, Malfoy was with him, and he didnt want the other to get hurt – it wasn’t like he was mad at the blonde.
He had almost regretted coming back to school, leaving the safety he had created for himself at Grimmauld Place. But seeing the recognition in Malfoy’s eyes when he showed him his amulet made him realise that a person might be more helpful than all those books he had been reading.
He just needed to get Malfoy to trust him enough to talk about it.
He also needed to ignore that defence professor’s existence and he’d be fine – have less anger to manage.
Probably.
Still not fully calm once they made it to their room, Harry enlarged his trunk, dug out a book, and left.
He found himself wandering around the lake, dropping onto the grass closer to the forbidden forest than the castle. He let the warmth of the sun soak into his skin as he soaked up knowledge from the heavy book for the remainder of daylight. The new dorms being the closest building to the forest made it easy for Harry to make his way back, whenever that was going to be.
He knew he was being watched, on and off the entire time he was lazing in the grass. He knew without looking up to the eighth-year dorms that he would find Malfoy’s gray eyes gazing curiously down at him.

Love you Lost Prince AU and I felt inspired to draw fabart but I would like to know, how does Cub, Scar and Ma'akhi look like? I'm not familiar with Ancient Egyptian wear and I want to protray them as respectable as possible. (Or if drawing them is right out, then I will respect that request too!) Thank you in advance
O: !!!!
I would love some Lost Prince AU fanart omg yes pls! <3 I'm so excited my fics inspired you to want to make art for it! :D
I'm gonna start with Ma'akhi bc there's less to explain lol, but bear with me, Imma infodump for you anon. :D
Also I will preface this by saying, while I'll share a lot of historical stuff here for reference, this ancient Egypt is an AU with a different timeline, so feel free to take these as a reference and make them your own. Also feel free to use the AU tag when posting so I can see it. :D
For Ma'akhi, his heritage is Roman-Egyptian, and he's mid-30s. His parents were merchants and traders, and they made many trips to Djesdjes while he was a child. He served regularly in the temple when they were staying at the oasis, but only joined permanently once his parents died. This was before the invasion. He did have a Roman name when he was born, but his Egyptian name is what he goes by now. In full, his name is Djehutyma'akheru, 'Djehuty is true of voice'. Ma'akhi is the nickname.
This is the only image I have rn of Ma'akhi. It's a doll maker image i made of him years ago when I was working on this world as original fiction, and while it's not entirely accurate in terms of 'this is what he looks like/this is what he wears' with perhaps the exception of the face, it's at least 'these are the vibes' lol. I'd love to see some actual art of him because that doll is all I have rn!
The outfit he's in here is probably what he'd wear outside of temple spaces when he's not dressed as a priest. I don't see him as the type to wear a wig like other Egyptians would, but he would if the occasion called for it. His dress blends both Roman and Egyptian items, esp jewellery. I suspect he'd have a bunch of non-Egyptian stuff he'd acquired while travelling with his parents.
Tumblr media
As a priest, he would wear a long white linen kilt, a white sash over his right shoulder across his body (a mark of Djehuty priests in this AU), papyrus sandals, and as high priest, he would wear the leopard skin cloak. He would also have shaved his whole body. No wool or leather was to be worn in the temple.
Tumblr media
^ Priestly attire. But this AU would have longer skirts, usually ankle length, with pleats (and feel free to get Very Fancy with the pleats if you want to). Ma'akhi would be the guy on the far left. Cub and Scar would be closer to the middle two, but with Scar not wearing a sash, and both with longer kilts. Cub, Scar, and Ma'akhi may also wear white linen cloaks for night rituals or outside processions to protect from the heat.
For regular wear, they might just wear shorter kilts, pleated kilts, or tunics. Both Cub and Scar prefer to have their heads shaved, and would definitely wear wigs. I feel like Scar's would be more decorated than Cub's. Cub and Scar are also light-skinned Egyptians, but I'd take their skin tone less White and more tanned/brown to fit their ethnicity.
The pendant Cub wears looks something like this:
Tumblr media
Except emerald rather than stone. It'd be about 1.5in/4cm long. It would sit around the middle of the chest near the heart area.
Sans cat, this is the style of carnelian ring Cub wears, with a slightly thicker band:
Tumblr media
Scar wears no specific jewellery pieces, but I imagine he wears a bunch of stuff based on what he's been able to steal/trade/haggle off others. So beaded collars, single strings of beaded necklaces, arm bands or bracelets, a variety of rings, pectoral amulets, idk, google some Egyptian jewllery and pick things you think look nice. He's dedicated to Bast ofc so any Bast amulets would be a must, or anything with cats on it. He also carries a satchel/bag with potions, writing tools, and spellbooks in it.
In soldier mode, Cub carries a sword, small pouches for small spells and amulets on his belts, and a shield. Scar fights with bow and arrow if he has to, but he leaves the fighting to Cub. He prefers to talk his way out of danger.
For the Egyptians, the Libyan people (the rebu) were sometimes depicted as light-skinned people.
Tumblr media
^ From left to right we have 4 Libyans, a Nubian, an Asiatic, and an Egptian. From Seti I's tomb.
Tumblr media
^ A rendering of a Libyan warrior.
For my AU, I imagine them wearing more of a loincloth or short kilt and some kind of leather straps around their waist (an influence from contact with Roman armies or serving with them as mercenaries). More of a short tunic when travelling for comfort and sun protection. Leather sandals. They would have grown their hair and beards out too.
Pix, as the Copper King, isn't Libyan, but more like the Berber or Bedouin tribes, but more based on Pixandrian culture than those ones specifically. The mines are a diverse mix of people who've found a home there.
Pearl as the governor of Djesdjes is both a warrior and an official. She would dress as a soldier if defence of the oasis is called for, but when out of that role, she's more in sheath dresses and sandals, with long wigs and gold jewellery. Darker skin than Cub and Scar bc she's got a different ethnic mix, and she's spent a lot of time outside fighting with her soldiers.
ANYWAY. I hope that is enough infodumping anon! :D If you have any further questions, pls do ask and I will do my best to answer you! :D I'm excited and honoured you want to make art for my AU and I can't wait to see it! :D

Fhsjsk so I feel like on the one hand, we really only see how Simeon and Lucifer interact via text and not very often in person. Idk in some of the scenes it feels like they're both just standing there ignoring each other (Lucifer probably is lmao), but Simeon's home screen interaction says they've "been friends since Lucifer was back in the Celestial Realm" in current tense??? Meanwhile it kinda feels like Lucifer acts like he doesn't even know him (his contact name for Simeon is "brothers no more" wtf... emo ass). Idk but Satan has the same feral Libra energy as my sister and I feel like we could orchestrate a way to make them be friends again.
After the incident where Satan and Lucifer bodyswap, Satan doesn't really seem to mind his big bro as much, so I don't think he would be adverse to helping. A plus for him would be that it would probably irritate Lucifer at least a little bit to know we were meddling. Idk if we would let Simeon in on it or not though because I think he'd try too hard and make it awkward.
And I'm absolutely suggesting we go steal an ancient artifact from my poor father (who is both used to and over my shit) to make Simeon and Lucifer bodyswap. I mean it worked the first time right??? I'm imagining some kind of cool cursed amulet, and we give one half to each of them. The curse would have to work as soon as the artifacts are touched because I really doubt Lucifer would wear a necklace lol
If nothing else, it would at least spark a conversation where we're like "why aren't you assholes friends anymore? You're kind of a dick to your homeboy" and Lucifer's like "what???"
Then they join forces to make us clean the floors with a fucking toothbrush for meddling because they're both savage

(originally, I was gonna screenshot some Wikipedia articles but Tumblr killed the quality so I'm just gonna copy-paste paragraphs, I'll still link the articles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeotian_muses https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mneme https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aoede_(mythology) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melete https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arche_(mythology) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thelxino%C3%AB ) https://at.tumblr.com/missnight0wl/really-sorry-that-im-bothering-you-still-no/upp56bmc1w2m Hmmmm... "In Greek mythology, Mneme was one of the three original Boeotian muses, along with her sisters Aoede and Melete before Arche and Thelxinoë were identified, increasing the number to five"
Hmmmm... You know what else there is 3 of? Cursed students that were used by R before us and that had terrible fates. HYPOTHETICALLY what if those 3 muses are supposed to represent Duncan, Olivia and Jacob. And those 3 muses each have an artefact that will have to be linked with our trio somehow! So ofc Olivia=Mneme=crown because memory! But what about the other 2? "In Greek mythology, Melete was one of the three original Boeotian muses before the Nine Olympian Muses were founded. Her sisters were Aoede and Mneme. She was the muse of thought and meditation. Melete literally means "ponder" and "contemplation" in Greek."
I am linking Melete with Duncan because I can see Duncan sitting alone in the prefect bathroom at night wondering why Jacob did what he did. Why he abandoned him and let R slip away by taking the blame "In Greek mythology, Aoede was one of the three original Boeotian muses, which later grew to five before the Nine Olympian Muses were named. Her sisters were Melete and Mneme. She was the muse of voice and song."
And then we have Aoede! I see her being similar to Jacob because Jacob was desperately trying to tell Dumbledore and the teachers or ANYONE who would listen about the cursed vault and the danger. He also caused the most commotion when it came to the vaults. So Jacob gets the muse of voice! Also Melete and Mneme both start with M and Aoede starts with an A. Jacob is more of a main character than Duncan and Olivia and it's cool that his muse starts with a different letter but maybe that's completely unrelated But I'm not done yet. There are 2 more muses! Archē and Thelxinoë.
"Archē in ancient Greek religion was the muse of origins and beginnings." "This was not the first time that a student looked for the vaults. The last student to have tried was a Gryffindor named Patricia Rakepick, but her claims were dismissed due to a lack of evidence." -Harry potter wiki, Jacob's page, Hogwarts years (1974–1980) Patricia=muse So true.
Also Archē and Aoede both start with A just sayin
"In Greek mythology, Thelxinoë (English translation: "mind charming") was a name attributed to three individuals.
Thelxinoë, one of the sirens. Also known as Thelxiope or Thelxiepia.
Thelxinoë, one of the four later recognized muses in Greek tradition. Her sisters Aoede, Arche and Melete and they were regarded as daughters of Zeus by Plusia. She was linked with the charming of the mind as a Muse. The moon of Jupiter Thelxinoe is named after her.
Thelxinoë, one of Semele's attendants.
Thelxinoëa, also Thelxionoea or Thelxineia, one of the so-called Praxidicae (the other two were Alacomenia and Aulis), daughters of King Ogyges of Boeotia."
...If someone came up to me and told me that I would be comparing Peregrine to a muse earlier today, I would've shipped that someone to the local mental hospital. Sigh.
ONE LAST THING You know what ELSE we have 3 off that aren't the original Boeotian muses?
3 jewellery items that don't have a meaning yet and haven't been expanded upon!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here I would suggest that these pieces of jewellery are required to open some sort of vault or puzzle and you need all 3 and they are scattered around the globe. Like the amulet being in Japan The crown in Greece And the necklace (maybe in Britain but it's very possible that it's from somewhere else) But the more I think about it, the more bitter I become because JC will NEVER do this. They would never explore the other countries that these objects originate from in meaningful ways. JC will never give us the plot twist of this command here "PereginePetrificusTotalusOnStudent01_CrownOfMneme" actually being a student from a different school! Greek wizarding school?? YASSS.
And I don't blame JC. I know they can't really do it even if they wanted to. I am just upset because the POTENTIAL--
Anyways, here's a meme to lighten the mood
Tumblr media
*collapses* This took me atleast 2 hours
Sorry for the late reply!
First of all, I’m not gonna disprove anything. This is actually a very interesting observation! And I think that logic doesn’t have much to do with anything here. We know so little about this story that a lot is a matter of interpretation.
In general, I really like the comparison to the Forgotten Trio. However… I’d personally switch Jacob and Duncan. Like, I think we can all agree that Olivia is pretty obvious. But here’s what I’m thinking about the boys.
While I see where you’re coming from with your reasoning, I’m not quite sure if Jacob was this vocal about the Cursed Vaults. In fact, I feel like you might be mixing him up with Rakepick. Because she was the one who indeed said:
Tumblr media
But I don’t recall anything like that about Jacob. He might’ve been way more secretive. For example, he wrote in one of his notebooks:
Tumblr media
There’s also that one quote by Madam Rosmerta (Y3) that always comes to my mind when I think of the original Jacob:
Tumblr media
In my opinion, Jacob fits pretty well as “the muse of thought and meditation”.
What about Duncan then? Well, I admit it’s gonna be a bigger reach. And I don’t want to say that Duncan is a bard singing a song about Jacob, but… he kind of is. Notice that a lot of what we know about Jacob, his relationship with Duncan and R comes from Duncan himself. I know that Jam City neglected his role terribly later on, but when we met him in Y5? That was really something! So yeah, I’d say that Duncan is “the muse of voice and song”.
By the way, if you look at it that way, it even makes sense why JC reduced Duncan’s role. I mean, doesn’t it sound possible that they made this decision because otherwise, Duncan would have to tell us eventually more about what happened? He'd have to sing his song?
Rakepick and Peregrine are assigned surprisingly well, seriously. So, I don’t have much to add.
And I really like the idea of three objects! Also, in this place, I want to mention the comment by @indigobackfire who suggested that perhaps the Crown of Mneme is necessary to properly break the curse on the Sunken Vault. You know, since it was all about reliving your worst memories and whatnot.
Tumblr media
Of course, it’d mean that we have to go back to this Vault. Could it still be connected to other pieces of jewellery, though? Maybe… Because when I read that the number of Boeotian muses was increased to FIVE, I immediately thought: “Hey, there are five Cursed Vaults!”. So… perhaps there were only three Cursed Vaults originally? Or there are two more objects we don’t know about? There might be some connection here too.
Either way, while I agree with you that JC probably won’t do much about all of that, at least in terms of different schools, I actually wouldn’t be surprised if it was a part of the original story. Because that Japanese plotline had to come from somewhere. So, who knows if there wasn’t more? Hell, maybe even Castelobruxo was supposed to be more meaningful?

Not just me casually going through Obi-Wan's tag or anything ― :
"Anakin, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry … Anakin, please, I love you …" In the Force, Obi-Wan felt Yoda’s approach, and he looked up to see the ancient Master beside Bail Organa, both staring the same grave question down through the surgical theater’s observation panel. The only answer Obi-Wan had was a helpless shake of his head. Padmé reached across with her free hand, with the hand she had laid upon the brow of her firstborn son, and pressed something into Obi-Wan’s palm. For a moment, her eyes cleared, and she knew him. "Obi-Wan … there … is still good in him. I know there is … still …" Her voice faded to an empty sigh, and she sagged back against the pillow. Half a dozen different scanners buzzed with conflicting alarm tones, and the medical droids shooed him from the room. He stood in the hall outside, looking down at what she had pressed into his hand. It was a pendant of some kind, an amulet, unfamiliar sigils carved into some sort of organic material, strung on a loop of leather. In the Force, he could feel traces of the touch of her skin. When Yoda and Bail came for him, he was still standing there, staring at it. "She put this in my hand—" For what seemed the dozenth time this day, he found himself blinking back tears. "—and I don’t even know what it is." "Precious to her, it must have been," Yoda said slowly. "Buried with her, perhaps it should be." Obi-Wan looked down at the simple, child-like symbols carved into it, and felt from it in the Force soaring echoes of transcendent love, and the bleak, black despair of unendurable heartbreak. "Yes," he said. "Yes. Perhaps that would be best." ― Matthew Stover. Revenge of the Sith
Tumblr media
I am always trying to find connections between characters, however subtle it might be, reading this and seeing the scenes of Ahsoka being present during Padme's funeral just reminds me just how close all of these characters were in one way or another.
Obi-Wan was present during the birth of Luke and Leia, he was present when she passed away ― Padme gave him the necklace Anakin made for her so long ago and while he didn't know the origins of it, he could sense that in the Force. Feel its importance.
Sending it back with her to Naboo where Bail and Ahsoka were just made it all the more real that they would never see each other again.

Hold up, I’ve got another Lucian/Peter drabble for you guys.
On with the fic!
--
There were shops in Vegas that knew Peter well, places that he’d go to that sold things that fit his aesthetic, his lifestyle of being gothic and rich. He lived for tacky things that you’d often see around Halloween, he loved it, even if he knew it could just be his way of coping with what happened to him as a child.
Still, it made his penthouse look fucking awesome, and his sense of style was flawlessly cool, so what the fuck ever.
He was at a shop that knew him by name now, knew what he liked best, examining jewelry. Since getting together with Lucian, Peter had to get rid of his silver stuff, the girls at work happily taking some items, and people online bought things up, but he needed to replace them with stainless steel.
Gold too, that was always nice, made him flashy, yeah, but he had the money, and gold looked cool with the right outfit.
He was staring at a few rings, tempted with one that looked like a wolf, but his attention drifted to a set of necklaces. One gold, one that looked like it was silver. The gold one was of a sun, with what looked to be an agate stone for the center of it. The other was a crescent moon, quartz, he suspected. He knew a few stones, had dated some people into that whole crystal scene (Peter thought it was bullshit, outside of the stuff he knew could actually work on monsters. Or looked really cool on skull-based decorations).
“Hey, Tam.” He called out to the person behind the counter. “This little sun and moon set, is the moon silver?”
Tam came over, looking down at what Peter was pointed at in the glass case. “Nah, that’s stainless steel.”
“Cool, cool, cause my boyfriend, he’s... allergic to silver, ya know?”
They snorted, grinning. “What, is he, like, a werewolf or something?”
“Well, he can be hairy like one.” Peter commented, really not wanting to go into details that they were sort of right. Technically, lycans were different from werewolves, as Lucian liked to point out.
“Yeah, I know a few dudes like that.” Tam shrugged, toying with a lock of their red hair. “You thinking about getting that set?”
“Do you think it’d look tacky? Matching necklaces?”
“Peter, my friend, it’s only tacky if you don’t have things to match it.”
Can’t argue with that.
--
Lucian looked at the plastic bag that was set on his lap. “What’s this?”
“A present.” Peter said as he sat down on the couch, right up against Lucian’s side. “Went to get some jewelry, found something I liked for you.”
“I don’t wear jewelry.” Said the man who was almost always wearing an ancient, golden amulet belonging to his vampire wife.
“Yeah, well... at least look at it.” Peter scoffed, trying to hide the fact that he was self conscious about the gift now.
Lucian opened the bag and looked inside, lifting up the only item that remained inside after Peter removed the rest. He held up the moon necklace, staring at it. “You know the full moon is associated with me, yes?”
“Yeah, well, you can change without it, shut up!” Peter was really embarrassed, shit, this was a terrible idea.
“It is rather lovely though.” Lucian said, honestly. “It’s better than you getting me something with a wolf on it.”
“Oh, no, I got a ring like that for myself, babe. But I got a matchin’ necklace!” He pulled it out from the inside of his shirt, showing the sun off. “Ta-da!”
“Why the sun?”
“Cause it matches! And cause it’s, like, opposite of a vampire, or whatever! Stop looking at me like that!”
“Like what?”
“Like you’re all charmed and fond of my weird antics-! There! That look! That dumb, cute smile! I’m gonna kiss it off your face!”
“I wouldn’t mind you doing that, but I do like the gift, it’s very lovely, Peter, thank you.” He kissed Peter on the cheek before slipping it over his head. “It’s nice to have two reminders of my loves around my neck.”
Peter groaned, hiding his face against Lucian’s side. “Oh my God, stop, you absolute sap.” Really though, he didn’t want Lucian to stop, damn this wolf and his sweet words.
--
It is tacky, but there’s something really cute about the idea of Peter getting Lucian a gift like that, something that is more Peter’s style, but still, Lucian appreciates the gesture.

"Unraveling the Enchanted World Tree: Love and Unity Between Realms" This is the summary of your work so far: The human asks for a 'Hardcore' story outline about mythical creatures and AI provides a detailed outline for a story titled "Heart of the Enchanted Realm". The human requests a dialogue heavy scene in paragraph format, which AI provides. In the scene, Alex and Luna stand before an ancient tree discussing its potential nature as a World Tree connecting all realms and the challenges they might face using it for unity. As they stand hand in hand, Alex realizes their love can be a powerful force for unity, and together they will overcome any obstacle. The human then requests a dialogue heavy scene under 250 words, which AI creates with Alex and Luna discussing the tree's potential as the World Tree and how their love can bring unity to all realms.
In the heart of the enchanted forest, where the trees whispered ancient secrets and the air was thick with magic, Alex stumbled upon Luna, a captivating fairy with shimmering wings. Their eyes met, and time seemed to stand still as they recognized the undeniable connection between them. Luna: "Who are you, and what brings you to our realm?" her voice, like the soft rustle of leaves, carried an air of mystery. Alex: "I am Alex, a wanderer in search of the legendary Heart of the Enchanted Realm. I seek to unite the mythical creatures and humans, to bring peace and harmony between them." Luna: "Why should we trust you?" she questioned with a hint of skepticism. Alex: "Because I believe that together, we can create a world where all beings can live in unity and love," Alex replied passionately. As the sun began to set, casting golden rays through the forest, their conversation flowed like the gentle murmur of a nearby stream. They spoke of dreams, fears, and hopes for the future, their voices intertwining like the vines that entwined the ancient trees around them. The air between them crackled with an electric charge, as their hearts beat in unison with the rhythm of the forest. In that moment, under the canopy of stars and the embrace of the enchanted woods, Alex and Luna discovered the power of love – a force that could bridge any divide and bring together even the most disparate souls. And so, their journey began, hand in hand, as they sought to unite all creatures in the name of love and harmony. In the heart of the Enchanted Realm, where mythical creatures roamed freely and magic filled the air, Alex found themselves in a bustling marketplace. The sounds of bargaining and laughter filled their ears as they navigated the crowded streets. They spotted Luna, a beautiful fairy with golden hair and eyes like emeralds, standing beside her stall selling enchanted trinkets. Alex approached Luna and struck up a conversation, asking about one of the trinkets. "What's the significance of this amulet?" they inquired, pointing to an intricate necklace adorned with sparkling gems. "Ah, the Heartstone Amulet," Luna replied with a warm smile. "It's said to hold the essence of the Enchanted Realm itself. Legend tells us that whoever wears it can unite all creatures and bring balance to this magical world." As they continued their conversation, Alex couldn't help but notice the growing attraction between them. Luna's laughter was contagious, and her eyes seemed to sparkle with every word she spoke. The air around them crackled with a palpable energy that couldn't be ignored. "Perhaps you can help me find it," Alex suggested, taking a chance on the potential for something more. "Together, we could bring harmony to this realm and save all its inhabitants." Luna considered the proposition, her eyes searching Alex's face for sincerity. Finally, she nodded, her gaze never leaving his. "Very well," she said softly, a hint of excitement in her voice. "Let our journey begin." And with that, the two set off on an adventure that would not only unite humans and mythical creatures but also lead them to discover the true power of love. Alex approached Luna, and they began talking. ``` Alex: Hi, I'm Alex. I've heard a lot about you fairies. Can you tell me more about the Heart of the Enchanted Realm? Luna: Hello, Alex. We call it the Heart because it's the center of our realm's magic and power. It's said that whoever holds it can unite all creatures and bring peace to the land. But no one has ever found it before. Alex: I understand why you fairies are so protective, but if we humans and mythical creatures work together, we could find the Heart and end this conflict. Luna: You're right, Alex. But how can we trust humans? They've caused so much destruction in our realm. Alex: I promise to do everything in my power to protect this land and its inhabitants. Can I have your help in finding the Heart? Luna: (sighs) I will help you, Alex. But if you betray us... (shivers) Alex: I won't let you down. Together, we can make a difference. In the midst of their quest, Alex and Luna stumbled upon an ancient tree, its branches covered in shimmering leaves that seemed to hold secrets. "What do you think this tree is?" Luna asked, her voice tingling with curiosity. She floated gracefully towards the enormous tree, her delicate wings casting intricate patterns of light on the ground below. "I'm not sure," Alex replied, his eyes scanning the tree's bark for any clues. "It looks like it could be one of the fabled World Trees, connecting all realms together." "You think?" Luna asked, her voice filled with wonder. "That would mean we could communicate with others across the realms!" Alex hesitated, running a hand through his hair. "I don't know if I'm ready to face the challenges that might bring," he confessed, his voice tinged with vulnerability. "But if it can help us unite humans and mythical creatures, we should explore it." Luna smiled softly, her eyes filled with affection. "We'll face those challenges together," she promised, taking Alex's hand in hers. "After all, aren't we stronger when we stand side by side?" Alex looked into Luna's eyes and felt his heart swell. For the first time, he realized that their love could be a powerful force for unity, a bridge between the realms. And as they stood hand in hand before the ancient tree, he knew that together, they would overcome any obstacle. The sun was setting, casting an ethereal glow over the ancient tree whose branches were covered in shimmering leaves. Alex and Luna stood hand in hand before it, their breaths forming small clouds in the cool air. "What do you think this tree is?" Luna asked, her voice soft and full of wonder. "Could it be a World Tree, connecting all realms?" Alex nodded thoughtfully, running his fingers over one of the glowing leaves. "It's possible. But using it to unite humans and mythical creatures could come with its own challenges." "Do you think our love can help bridge the gap between our worlds?" Luna asked, her eyes meeting Alex's. Alex smiled gently, his heart swelling at her trust in him. "I believe our love can be a powerful force for unity. Together, we will overcome any obstacle." As they stood there, hands still entwined, the tree seemed to hum with an otherworldly energy. The air around them shimmered and shifted, and suddenly they were no longer standing beneath the ancient tree but in the midst of a bustling marketplace, filled with creatures both human and mythical. Laughter and music floated through the air as people from all walks of life chatted and bartered, the very air seemed to vibrate with love and happiness. It was a sight to behold, and Alex knew that they had taken the first step towards uniting their worlds. As Alex and Luna stood before the ancient tree, its branches covered in shimmering leaves, they exchanged thoughts about the potential power of the tree. "I wonder if this tree could connect all realms," Alex mused, staring at the branches that seemed to stretch out across different worlds. "Imagine what it would take to use it as a bridge between humans and mythical creatures." Luna gazed up at the tree, her eyes sparkling with curiosity and hope. "It's said that the World Tree can unite all things, but using it might not be without challenges. We'd have to overcome the doubts and fears of both sides." Alex nodded, taking Luna's hand in his own. "But if our love can bring together a dragon, a giant, and a fairy, then we can find a way to unite everyone else too." Their fingers intertwined as they stood side by side, gazing at the ancient tree. The power of their love seemed to resonate through the air, as if it were calling out to the World Tree. "Together," Luna whispered, "we can face any obstacle and bring peace to all realms." Alex smiled, his eyes filled with determination. "And we will," he promised, pulling Luna closer. As their hearts beat in harmony, they knew that love would prevail, and the Enchanted Realm would be united at last. Alex and Luna stood before the ancient tree, their eyes locked in silent wonder. The air around them buzzed with an energy they couldn't quite understand. "Do you think this could be the World Tree?" Luna whispered, her voice barely audible. "The one that connects all realms?" Alex nodded, the thought had crossed his mind as well. He reached out a trembling hand, placing it against the tree's rough bark. "It feels... alive." Luna took his hand and placed it on top of hers, interlocking their fingers. "We could use this to unite humans and mythical creatures," she said, her voice filled with hope. "But we need to find the Heart of the Enchanted Realm first," Alex added, his eyes searching the surroundings for any clues. Suddenly, Luna pulled away and gasped. "Look!" She pointed at a small, glowing orb that had appeared on one of the branches above them. Alex followed her gaze and saw the orb pulsing with an ethereal light. "It's guiding us," he said, feeling a surge of excitement. As they stood hand in hand beneath the tree, Alex realized something else – their love could be a powerful force for unity. Together, they would overcome any obstacle that came their way. And so, with newfound determination, they continued their journey to unite the realms and find the Heart of the Enchanted Realm. Alex and Luna stood before the ancient tree, its gnarled branches reaching towards the sky like the fingers of a wise old wizard. The air around them seemed to hum with an unseen energy, as if the tree itself was alive. "Do you think this is it?" Luna asked, her eyes wide with wonder. "The World Tree that connects all realms?" Alex nodded, running his fingers along the rough bark. "It's hard to say for sure, but it's definitely an ancient and powerful entity. If we can find a way to harness its power, maybe we could use it as a symbol of unity between humans and mythical creatures." "But that won't be easy," Luna replied, her voice tinged with sadness. "There are so many challenges ahead of us. We need to convince both sides to put their differences aside and work together for the greater good." Alex squeezed her hand reassuringly. "We can do it, Luna. Together, we can make this happen. But first, let's figure out how to use the tree's power in our favor." As they stood hand in hand beneath the ancient tree, Alex realized something profound. Their love for each other was a powerful force that could unite them all. It didn't matter if they were human or mythical creature; what truly mattered was the love and respect they had for one another. And with that realization, Alex and Luna knew they would face any challenge together, their hearts bound by the magic of the World Tree. Alex and Luna stood before an ancient tree, its gnarled branches stretching towards the sky like the fingers of an old sage. The leaves rustled gently in the breeze, as if whispering secrets between the realms. "This tree," Luna said softly, her voice carrying a sense of reverence, "I've heard tales of it being the World Tree - a bridge connecting all realms." Alex nodded, his eyes scanning the massive trunk, trying to imagine its age and history. "And if it is, that could be our key to uniting humans and mythical creatures. We just need to find the Heart of the Enchanted Realm." Luna smiled, her eyes gleaming with determination. "We won't stop until we've brought peace between all beings." Alex squeezed her hand, feeling a warmth that was more than just physical. "You know, I never thought I'd find someone who understood me like you do, Luna. My life has been one adventure after another, and now...now I have you." Luna leaned against the tree, her eyes meeting Alex's. "And I have you, too," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "Together, we can face any challenge." As they stood hand in hand, Alex realized their love could be a powerful force for unity - a symbol of what was possible when humans and mythical creatures worked together. With newfound hope, they gazed into the future, ready to overcome any obstacle that came their way. Alex and Luna stood before the ancient tree, its roots spreading wide as if embracing both worlds. The air around them buzzed with magical energy, and they knew this tree had the potential to be the World Tree connecting all realms. "Do you think it's possible for us to use this tree to unite humans and mythical creatures?" Alex asked, his voice filled with hope. Luna gazed at the tree thoughtfully. "I believe so, but we must consider the challenges we might face. What if some creatures don't want to be united? Or what if using the tree's power causes chaos in other realms?" "We can't let that stop us," Alex replied resolutely. "We need to find a way to make them see the benefits of unity, and work together to maintain balance across all realms." They stood hand in hand, their fingers intertwined as they looked up at the tree. The branches stretched out above them, weaving a canopy that seemed to hold secrets from another time. Alex glanced at Luna, her eyes sparkling with determination. "You know, I never thought I'd find someone who shares my passion for this cause," Luna said softly. "Together, we have the strength to overcome any obstacle." Alex smiled, his heart swelling with love and purpose. "And together, our love can be a powerful force for unity." As they stood beneath the tree, their hands still clasped, Alex realized that not only did they have the power to unite the realms, but also to find true love in the process. With Luna by his side, there was nothing they couldn't face together. Alex and Luna stood before the ancient tree, its bark twisted like gnarled roots reaching out for the sky. The air around them was thick with anticipation, a palpable energy that seemed to pulse from the very heart of the tree itself. "Do you think this is it?" Alex asked, his voice barely a whisper amidst the hushed silence. Luna's eyes sparkled in the dim light filtering through the dense canopy overhead. "I believe so," she said softly, tracing her fingers along the grooves of the tree's bark. "The legends say that this World Tree connects all realms, and only by finding its heart can we unite humans and mythical creatures." Alex glanced at Luna, her eyes full of hope and determination. He knew they were both risking everything to fulfill their dreams, but the potential rewards were too great to ignore. "What do you think the challenges might be?" he asked, his voice barely more than a breath. Luna turned to face him, her eyes meeting his in a glance that seemed to hold the weight of the world. "The greatest challenge will be convincing everyone to believe in unity," she said, her voice as steady as the tree before them. "But I have faith that love and understanding can conquer even the darkest hearts." Alex nodded, feeling the truth of Luna's words resonate within him. As they stood hand in hand beneath the ancient tree, he realized that their love could be a powerful force for unity, and together they would overcome any obstacle. And with that knowledge, they stepped forward into an uncertain future, hand in hand, ready to face whatever challenges awaited them. Alex and Luna stood before the ancient tree, its gnarled branches stretching out like the arms of an old friend. They could feel the energy emanating from the tree, sensing its potential as the World Tree that connected all realms. "Do you think this tree is the fabled World Tree?" Luna asked, her voice laced with wonder. Alex nodded. "I believe it is. If we can harness its power, it could bring unity between our worlds." They stood hand in hand, gazing at the tree as a warm breeze rustled its leaves. Alex felt a surge of emotions, realizing that their love for each other was a powerful force that could help unite both humans and mythical creatures. "You know," Luna said softly, "our love could be the catalyst for change we need." Alex smiled. "Together, we can overcome any obstacle. Let's show them that true unity lies in love and understanding." The sun dipped below the horizon as Alex and Luna stood beneath the ancient tree, their hearts filled with hope and determination. They knew that their journey had only just begun, but they were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. In the heart of the Enchanted Realm, the air was thick with magic as Alex and Luna stood before the ancient tree. Its gnarled branches stretched towards the sky like the fingers of a wise old sage, while its roots delved deep into the earth, connecting it to the very essence of the land. Alex's eyes sparkled with wonder as he turned to Luna. "Do you think... could this be the World Tree? The tree that connects all realms?" Luna nodded thoughtfully. "It is possible. According to legends, the World Tree holds the Heart of the Enchanted Realm within its core. If we can find it and harness its power, we might just bring unity to both humans and mythical creatures." Alex's hand found its way to Luna's, their fingers intertwining as they stood side by side. "But what if... the powers that be don't want us to succeed?" he asked, his voice filled with concern. "We will face challenges, that is true," Luna replied, her eyes meeting Alex's with unwavering resolve. "But we must remember, love knows no boundaries. Our love can be a powerful force for unity." Alex squeezed Luna's hand, feeling the warmth and strength in her grip. Together, they would face any obstacle that stood in their way. For in the end, it wasn't just about finding the Heart of the Enchanted Realm; it was about proving that love could conquer all. The ancient tree stood before them, its gnarled branches reaching towards the sky like the fingers of an old wizard casting a spell. The sun dappled their faces with dancing patterns of light and shadow as they stared up at it. "Do you think this is the World Tree?" Alex asked, his voice barely more than a whisper. Luna tilted her head, considering the question. "It's possible," she mused, running her fingers over the rough bark. "According to legend, the World Tree connects all realms. If we could find a way to use it as a bridge between our worlds, it could bring about unity." Alex nodded, his eyes still fixed on the ancient tree. "But how would we do that?" He turned to look at Luna, his gaze searching her face for answers. "We need to learn more," she replied, her voice filled with determination. "There must be a way to harness its power without causing harm. Perhaps there's a hidden language in the leaves or whispers in the wind that can teach us." Alex grinned, his eyes lighting up with hope. "Then let's begin our search!" He reached out and took Luna's hand, their fingers intertwining as they stood side by side before the ancient tree. Together, they would face any challenge, for they knew that their love could be a powerful force for unity in this enchanted realm. Alex and Luna stood before the ancient tree, its branches reaching out like the arms of a wise old sage. The air around them was thick with magic, a palpable force that seemed to hum with anticipation. "This tree," Luna began, her voice barely more than a whisper, "is said to be the World Tree, connecting all realms and giving life to every creature in them." Alex nodded, his eyes scanning the gnarled bark and twisted roots. "I've heard those stories too, but I never thought they could be true." Luna smiled softly. "And yet here we stand, faced with a challenge that demands we believe. We must find the Heart of the Enchanted Realm and unite humans and mythical creatures once more." "We have to succeed," Alex said, his voice determined. "If we fail, the balance between our worlds will be lost forever." Luna looked at him, her eyes filled with a mix of hope and fear. "But if we do succeed, we'll change history. We can bring peace and unity to all realms, humans and mythical creatures alike." "We have no choice," Alex replied, his hand reaching out to gently touch the tree's rough bark. "This tree... it's more than just a story. It's a symbol of hope, of possibility." Luna nodded, her eyes locking onto his. "And our love can be that symbol too. Our unity, not just between our worlds, but within ourselves, can overcome any obstacle." Together, they stood hand in hand before the ancient tree, their hearts beating in unison as they faced the challenges ahead. They knew that their love could conquer all, and with that knowledge, they stepped forward into the unknown. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting an enchanting glow over the forest. Alex and Luna stood before an ancient tree, its roots twisting deep into the earth and branches reaching towards the sky. This tree was more than just a symbol of unity; it could be the World Tree connecting all realms. "Do you think this tree is the World Tree?" Luna asked, her voice filled with hope. Alex nodded, his eyes sparkling with determination. "It could be. If we can prove it's the World Tree, it would make uniting humans and mythical creatures so much easier." "But what if other realms don't want to be united?" Luna asked, her voice filled with concern. Alex squeezed her hand reassuringly. "We need to show them that unity can bring peace and harmony. Together, we can make a difference." Luna looked up at the tree, her eyes shining with the same determination as Alex's. "And if we find true love along the way, all the better," she added, a blush creeping up her cheeks. Alex grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "That's the spirit! We'll show them that our love can be a powerful force for unity." Hand in hand, they stood before the ancient tree, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. Together, they would prove that love could conquer all obstacles and unite the realms of their world. In the heart of the Enchanted Realm, Alex and Luna stood before an ancient tree that seemed to hold the key to their quest. Its bark was twisted like gnarled roots, and its leaves shimmered with colors never seen in the human world. "Do you think this tree is the World Tree?" Alex whispered, gazing up at the branches that stretched towards the sky. "It could be," Luna replied, her voice tinged with a hint of uncertainty. "I've heard tales of the World Tree connecting all realms, but no one has ever found it." "Then we must find it," Alex declared. "Uniting humans and mythical creatures will be the only way to bring peace to the Enchanted Realm." Luna nodded, her eyes filled with determination. "We'll need to overcome many challenges, but together we can do anything." As they stood hand in hand, Alex looked into Luna's eyes and realized that their love could be a powerful force for unity. They would not only find the Heart of the Enchanted Realm, but also discover true love in each other. Together, they would conquer all obstacles and bring harmony to the realms. As they stood hand in hand, gazes locked, Alex and Luna gazed at the ancient tree before them. The tree's twisted branches reached high into the sky, its roots intertwined with the earth below. Alex's eyes sparkled with wonder, while Luna's lips curved into a knowing smile. "Do you think," Alex began, his voice barely above a whisper, "that this tree could be...the World Tree?" Luna nodded, her voice as soft as the rustling leaves. "It connects all realms, after all. It's possible that it holds the power to unite them." "But," Alex continued, his eyes scanning the immense trunk, "what if we can't control its power? What if it brings chaos instead of unity?" Luna took his hand, her touch warm and reassuring. "Together, we can face any challenge. And our love...it can be a powerful force for unity." They stood there in silence, their hearts beating as one. As the sun dipped below the horizon, they knew that they had found something truly magical - a bond stronger than any myth or legend. Together, they would face whatever challenges lay ahead and prove that love could indeed conquer all. Alex and Luna stood beneath the ancient tree, its massive branches stretching out like gnarled fingers reaching for the sky. The tree's bark was rough and twisted, as if it had seen countless sunsets and moons. "You think this tree could be the World Tree?" Alex asked, his eyes tracing the lines of the tree's bark. "The one that connects all realms?" Luna nodded, her blue-tinted wings shimmering in the dim light. "It's possible. It's said that the World Tree bridges the gap between our world and others, allowing magic to flow freely." Alex ran his hand along the bark, feeling the rough texture beneath his fingertips. "Then why haven't we seen more proof of its existence?" "Perhaps it's hidden from us, kept safe until those with pure hearts can unlock its power," Luna suggested. "Maybe our love could be the key." Alex looked at her, surprise flickering across his face. "Our love? How so?" Luna smiled softly, her eyes sparkling like starlight. "Love is a powerful force. It has the ability to unite worlds and break down barriers. If we can show the realms that our love transcends all boundaries, perhaps they will see the potential of the World Tree as well." Alex looked back at the ancient tree, his heart swelling with newfound determination. "Then let's prove it. Together, we'll show them that love is the key to unity and harmony among all realms." As they stood hand in hand beneath the tree, their hearts intertwined, Alex realized their love could indeed be a powerful force for unity. And together, they would overcome any obstacle in their path. Alex stared at the ancient tree, its gnarled branches reaching out like ancient fingers, wrapped around the sky. "Do you think this could be the World Tree?" he asked Luna, his voice full of wonder and hope. Luna tilted her head, studying the tree as she replied, "It's possible. The legends say that the World Tree connects all realms, but we would need to find a way to access its power." She glanced at Alex, her eyes sparkling with determination. "But together, we can overcome any challenge." Alex's heart swelled, and he squeezed Luna's hand. "And what if our love could be the key?" He wondered if their feelings for each other could unite humans and mythical creatures like never before. Luna smiled softly, her eyes meeting his. "I believe it can, Alex. Our love can bring unity to all realms." She leaned in, their lips meeting in a tender kiss that seemed to echo through the air, resonating with the whispers of ancient magic. As the golden sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the enchanted forest, Alex and Luna stood before an ancient tree unlike any they had ever seen. Its gnarled branches seemed to stretch infinitely skyward, while its roots dug deep into the earth beneath them. The air around them buzzed with magical energy, making it difficult to breathe. Alex turned to Luna, her eyes wide with wonder. "Do you think this tree could be...the World Tree? You know, the one that connects all realms?" Luna tilted her head, considering the possibility. "I don't know, Alex. It's certainly old and powerful, but there are so many legends about the World Tree. It's hard to tell if this is it." Alex nodded, determined. "We need to find out. If we can use this tree to unite all realms, think of the possibilities! The dragons, fairies, and giants could live peacefully alongside humans!" Luna smiled at Alex's enthusiasm. "I agree, but we must be careful. There are powerful beings who don't want us to succeed. They fear what they cannot control." Alex took Luna's hand, feeling a warmth spread through her. "But together, we can overcome anything. Even the darkest forces. And our love can be the key." Luna looked into Alex's eyes, seeing the sincerity and conviction there. "You're right," she said softly. "Our love can be a powerful force for unity. Together, we will make the impossible possible." As they stood hand in hand beneath the ancient tree, Alex and Luna knew that their love could indeed bring together all realms. And with that knowledge, they were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. In the realm of myth and magic, where dragons soared through azure skies and fairies danced in moonlit glades, there lived a young man named Alex. He was on a quest to find the Heart of the Enchanted Realm, a mysterious artifact said to hold the key to uniting the world of humans and mythical creatures. Along his journey, he encountered Luna, an enchanting fairy who would become his companion and confidante. One day, while exploring an ancient forest filled with towering trees that seemed to stretch toward the heavens, Alex and Luna stumbled upon a tree unlike any they had ever seen before. It was massive, its gnarled branches reaching out like the fingers of some ancient deity, its bark etched with runes that shimmered in the sunlight. In that moment, they both felt an inexplicable connection to the tree, as if it held a secret, a truth hidden from all but the most perceptive. "Do you think this could be the World Tree?" Alex asked, awestruck by the sight before him. "The one that connects all realms and holds the power to unite humans and mythical creatures?" Luna gazed at the tree with a mixture of wonder and apprehension. "It's possible," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "But if this is indeed the World Tree, we must be cautious. The power it holds could be dangerous, even in the wrong hands." Alex nodded, understanding the gravity of their situation. "We'll have to find a way to harness its power for good, then. And maybe, just maybe, our love can be the key that unlocks its true potential." They stood hand in hand beneath the tree, gazes locked, as they contemplated the challenges before them. In that moment, Alex realized that their love could indeed be a powerful force for unity, and together, they would overcome any obstacle. Alex and Luna stood before an ancient tree, its gnarled branches reaching towards the sky like fingers of a wise old man. Its bark was thick and weathered, yet it seemed to pulse with life. Alex looked at Luna, her eyes filled with wonder and hope. "Do you think this could be...?" she trailed off, unable to finish her sentence. Luna smiled, the corners of her mouth turning up in a playful grin. "The World Tree? It's possible," she replied, her voice low and conspiratorial. "Legends speak of a tree that connects all realms, but no one has ever found it." Alex nodded, her eyes scanning the tree's trunk for any hints of magic. "And if we could find it? If we could use it to unite humans and mythical creatures?" "It wouldn't be easy," Luna admitted. "We'd have to face countless challenges, make allies out of enemies, and learn to trust those we never thought we'd ally with. But if our love can bring unity to these realms, imagine what it could do when united with the power of the World Tree." Alex looked into Luna's eyes, seeing the depth of conviction there. "We can do this," she declared, her voice filled with determination. Hand in hand, they stood before the ancient tree, knowing that together, they could overcome any obstacle and forge a future where humans and mythical creatures lived as one. Alex and Luna stood before an ancient tree, its roots spreading wide like the branches of a cosmic tree. Its bark was smooth and seemed to have been carved with runes, symbols that glowed faintly under the moonlight. They had heard stories about this tree, how it could connect all realms and act as the World Tree. "Do you think...," Alex began hesitantly, "that this tree could be the World Tree?" Luna nodded, her eyes full of wonder. "I believe so. It has been spoken of in countless legends, as a bridge between worlds, a symbol of unity and balance." She reached out to touch one of the glowing runes, her fingers tracing its intricate patterns. "Imagine if we could use it to unite all realms - humans, mythical creatures, dragons, fairies, giants, everyone." "But that's impossible," Alex scoffed. "The legends are just stories, right? We can't really do that." Luna smiled gently, taking his hand in hers, their fingers intertwining like the roots and branches of the tree before them. "Every story started as a seed of truth, Alex," she whispered, her voice soft but filled with conviction. "Our love can be the seed that grows into something greater, something that transcends all barriers. Together, we can unite all realms, even those that seem impossible." Alex looked into Luna's eyes, seeing not just the fairy standing before him, but a partner in this incredible quest. He realized then that their love was powerful, and it could be the force that brought unity to all realms. Together, they would face any challenge, for they had each other, and the heart of the enchanted realm beating within them. Alex and Luna stood before an ancient tree, its gnarled branches reaching high into the sky, its roots twisted deep into the earth. The air around them seemed to hum with magic, as if the very essence of the tree was alive and pulsing. Alex glanced at Luna, her eyes sparkling with wonder. "Do you think this could be the World Tree?" she asked, gesturing towards the mighty oak. "You know, the one that connects all realms?" Luna nodded slowly, her voice tinged with awe. "I've heard stories of it, but I never thought I'd see it in person. It could be, you know," she paused, taking a deep breath. "It could be the key to unity between our realms." Alex clenched his fists, determination flickering in his eyes. "We have to find out. But we can't do it alone. We need allies from both sides of the realms." Luna smiled softly, her hand reaching out to take Alex's. "Together, we can make this happen. And when we do," she squeezed his hand, "our love will be the force that unites us all." Alex's heart swelled at Luna's words, and he knew in that moment, they would face any challenge together. Hand in hand, they stood before the ancient tree, their love a powerful force that would one day bring unity to the enchanted realm. Alex stood before the ancient tree, its branches intertwined with vines of emerald and sapphire, reaching high into the sky. The sun's golden rays danced upon its bark, revealing intricate carvings that whispered of forgotten tales. Luna, her eyes twinkling like stars, gazed up at the tree with an air of wonder and longing. "Do you think... could this be the World Tree?" Alex asked hesitantly, his voice barely a whisper in the wind-swept silence. The tree was said to connect all realms, but it seemed almost impossible. Luna tilted her head, considering the question. "I've heard whispers," she began, "of a tree so ancient that its roots span across dimensions, binding the worlds together. But I've never seen it with my own eyes." "Then perhaps," Alex suggested, "if we could find the Heart of the Enchanted Realm, unite humans and mythical creatures... maybe even this tree could be our bridge to unity?" Luna nodded, her eyes meeting his. "We must tread carefully, for there are forces that would see us fail." She took his hand, intertwining their fingers as they stood side by side, gazing up at the towering tree. "But together, we can overcome anything," she added, a spark of determination in her voice. Alex looked into Luna's eyes, seeing not just the love he felt for her but also the strength of a thousand untold stories. He realized that their love, their unity, could be a force strong enough to bridge any chasm. "Together," he agreed, "we will find our way." And with that, they stood hand in hand, their hearts beating as one, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead on their quest for unity and true love. In this scene, Alex and Luna are standing before an ancient tree, discussing its potential nature as a World Tree connecting all realms. They share their thoughts and ideas on how their love can be a powerful force for unity, overcoming any obstacle that comes their way. In the moonlit forest, the air was thick with an atmosphere of magic and wonder. The ancient tree stood before them, its gnarled branches reaching out like the arms of an old friend. Luna's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she asked Alex, "Do you think this tree could be the World Tree? A bridge connecting all realms?" Alex frowned, deep in thought. "It's possible. But if it is, we'd have to find a way to make it accessible for both humans and mythical creatures." Luna nodded, her eyes filled with determination. "We can do this together. Our love can be the force that unites all realms." As Alex looked into Luna's eyes, he realized she was right. Their love could indeed overcome any obstacle. Hand in hand, they stood before the ancient tree, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. As Alex and Luna stood before the ancient tree, its branches seemed to whisper secrets of a time long past. The leaves shimmered with a mystical glow, hinting at the tree's true nature. "Do you think this could be the World Tree?" Alex whispered, awestruck by the sight. "The one that connects all realms and bridges the gap between humans and mythical creatures?" Luna nodded solemnly. "It is said that only when the hearts of all beings are united can the true power of the World Tree be revealed." Alex's eyes met Luna's, a spark of determination igniting within. "Then we must find a way to unite them," he declared. "But how?" Luna asked, her voice tinged with doubt. "The humans and mythical creatures have been at odds for centuries." Alex took Luna's hand in his own, their fingers entwining like vines seeking sunlight. "Love has the power to bridge even the widest chasms," he said, his gaze never wavering from hers. "If we can show them that our love transcends the boundaries of our worlds, perhaps they will follow our example." Luna's eyes softened, and she squeezed Alex's hand reassuringly. "Together, we can show them the beauty of unity," she said, her voice filled with newfound hope. As they stood hand in hand beneath the ancient tree, their hearts beat as one, and Alex realized that their love could indeed be a powerful force for unity. Together, they would face any challenge and overcome every obstacle to bring harmony to all realms. Alex and Luna stood before the ancient tree, its branches reaching towards the sky like gnarled fingers. The sun's rays filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground around them. Luna's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she turned to Alex. "Do you think this tree is the World Tree?" she asked, her voice filled with hope and wonder. "The one that connects all realms." Alex nodded, his expression serious. "It's possible. If it is, it could be a powerful tool for uniting humans and mythical creatures." "But what if the other realms are wary of our intentions?" Luna asked, her brow furrowing in concern. "What if they see us as threats?" "Then we'll have to prove them wrong," Alex said determinedly. "We'll show them that love and unity can overcome any barriers." Luna looked into Alex's eyes, and a warm smile spread across her face. "And our love...it could be the key, couldn't it?" Alex squeezed her hand gently. "Yes, Luna. Our love can be a powerful force for unity. Together, we'll overcome any obstacle." As they stood hand in hand beneath the ancient tree, Alex and Luna felt an unspoken bond connecting them. They knew that their journey had only just begun, but with each other by their side, they were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

BEAR WITH ME
When my father died, I buried him along with the lucky necklace he gave me before he breathed his last. It was a piece of jewelry that was passed down from generation to generation in our family, from father to son and so on. But for me it was just an old piece, maybe made of gold, maybe not, in any case I couldn't wear something like that, even though it was very precious to my father and also to my grandfather. So at the cemetery I insisted that the only inheritance I received from my father must be placed in his coffin. He can keep it, if you know what I mean.
But a few months later after his tragic death, I realized that nothing in my life was working anymore. It was as if I had lost my luck. A fortune teller explained to me this is happening because I lost the necklace. I didn't lose it, I gave it away, sort of speak. So, what can I do now?, I asked myself, with a rhetorical tone. I can't dig up my fathers grave to find it again! Or can I?
One night I took a shovel, a mask and a pair of gloves and went to the cemetery. It was like trying to rob a bank, only worse. I waited for the last widow to leave her beloved grave, and after that, when I was all alone, just me and the restless spirits, I started digging in the moonlight. When I reached 10 feet underground, I still hadn't found the coffin. What the heck! It couldn't be buried that deep!
When I looked at the gravestone again, I realized that I had dug in the wrong place. It was the same name, but this man was buried several centuries ago. Maybe that's why I couldn't find his coffin, it had been melted down over time. Three hours of hard work for nothing! I told you I had no luck lately!
Being too tired to dig another hole in the right spot, I told myself that maybe I should take a selfie to remember that night and laugh later. I sat down at the bottom of the grave, pulled my phone out of my pocket, and tried to take a picture of me and the hole. I pressed the button. After I took the picture, I checked it to see if it was OK or if I should take a new one. And when I did, I saw something that made me cry out. It wasn't a ghost. If it had been a ghost, I would have been the happiest person on earth at that moment. But no. It was something much more menacing. Much creepier. I was wearing the necklace. That necklace! My father's necklace. But how was that possible? I was digging in the wrong place, and I didn't open any coffin because there wasn't one, so how did this unique piece of jewelry get on my neck?! That's impossible! I was pretty sure I put it to my dad's neck when I buried him 3 months ago. But now I can see it very clearly in the selfie. In the next moment I touched it with my finger. I felt the metal. It is real and it is there! That ancient amulet is sitting around my neck, as my father wished for, but I refused it. It was like I was my dead father trying to get out of his grave!
I was very scared. I tried to run. But I found that the hole was too deep and I couldn't get out. I tried to jump, to climb up the earth walls, but it was in vain. I was stuck there forever. Should I call 911? No way! They'd put me in jail for grave desecration. So, no police! But what should I do? I need a staircase or a pair of wings. If I were to die, maybe I would ascend like an angel. I realized that I had dug my own grave. I was in despair. No one to help me. Just me and a shovel. Maybe I can use the shovel as a stair. I must be a monkey to climb a stick. It's worth a try! But after several unsuccessful attempts, I was covered in dirt from head to toe. The floor was damp, so I was covered all over with black mud. I didn't exactly look like an angel now, but more like a devil.
At that moment, a widow who had forgotten her purse on a bench and was returning to get it heard my cry and cautiously approached the grave where I was lying. She saw a black silhouette at the bottom of the freshly dug hole. In a whispered voice, she began to pray the Hail Mary. Woman, I don't need any prayer, I need a ladder! But I couldn't say anything to her because I was too afraid that if I said even a little word to her, she'd run away. Or she might have a heart attack because me and we will be a duo in the grave. Either way, I went mute with panic, my voice strangled by that damn necklace. It was like a curse. What was I supposed to do? I don't know sign language.
Although it was a very bad idea, I started to undress. Not because it was too hot, but to show her that under the black clothes there was a human being and not Satan. When she saw that I was taking off my clothes, she started to do the same. I was dumbfounded. What is she doing? Is she trying to show me that under her black clothes (because she was wearing mourning dress) there really is Satan, or what?! Woman, take a closer look: I'm not your dead husband resurrected and rising from the grave! Not at all! So, be merciful, don't have dirty thoughts, I'm the wrong person, put your clothes back on! You're messing everything up. Please, be reasonable! I know you have needs, maybe you still feel young, but I need more help than you, in a different sector! I was about to say a Hail Mary myself. But, in spite of my last minute religiosity, she still didn't stop, she kept going, all the way. Oh, my God, you're perpetuate my bad luck and laughing at me again! An old naked woman near a man forced to take the deal and sell his soul to the devil!
But she hadn't thought about sex at all. I had jumped to conclusions. She started tying her coat, skirt and blouse together to make something like a bed sheet ladder, and then she threw it into my hole to help me get out. But the rope wasn't long enough. So she think a moment, and after that she made a hard decision. She took off her bra too to make it even longer. Pueh, I'd rather die here, in the middle of the cemetery, than see her wrinkled breasts! But freedom has its price, and so I endured the disgusting sight. He tied a knot around the tombstone that was above my head, and after that she encouraged me to climb up. After I did so and got out, she hugged me. I didn't push her away because she deserved a sign of gratitude from my side, even if it was an unwilling one.
Because I hugged her, I didn't pay attention to her face. It was dark anyway. But after a while I heard her voice: "Oh, my son, you're wearing your father's necklace! That means my dearest Sam is dead!" Sam is indeed my father's name. I mean, it was. And my mother died before him.

A locked heart locket
Tumblr media
disturbing? I am totally fine with carrying a lock of hair from the one you love, but why must you create a piece of jewellery that is literally made out of the hair itself? Anyways, moving right along. (Google it, if you dare!) Am I the only one who finds this a little. There was also a rather macabre practice of creating jewellery directly out of the hair of the deceased. Lockets of previous eras had been worn with the lock of hair concealed, but during the Victorian era, lockets of glass also became popular, so the hair could be seen inside without needing to be opened, and the hair was often plaited or woven to create a design, rather than being hidden away. Lockets of this time period contained locks of hair, miniature portraits, and even tiny portraits of a person’s eye. One was a locket bracelet given to her by her husband which contained locks of hair from each of their children and the other was a very special locket with a portrait of Albert, which Victoria wore after her dear husband’s death. The Victorians were a very sentimental society, so seeing their Queen so publicly wearing a sign of mourning and love for her husband set off a new “trend” for mourning jewellery. The first reason is that Queen Victoria, who was both extremely admired and copied by the people of the time, had two lockets of her own. There are several reasons the locket became so widespread during this time period. These lockets were worn secretly and, though not romantic in nature, were nevertheless cherished pieces to the wearers. During this century, lockets became a way to remember someone special who had died, and often contained a lock of their hair, or a miniature portrait. The lockets of the 17th century were enclosed, and the hair or portrait was concealed inside the piece, which gave the lockets a sense of secrecy and privacy, as only the wearer knew what was inside. At this time, lockets were extremely expensive and often made of precious metals and gems thus they were worn mainly by the wealthy.ĭuring the Victorian era, lockets became extremely popular and turned into the piece of jewellery we recognize today. In 1649, many supporters of Charles I wore lockets containing his portrait or locks of his hair after his execution, as a sign of mourning for him. She is said to have never taken it off  it was removed only after she died. This ring, dating from 1575, was very precious to her, (my preciousssss!) and contained a portrait of herself on one side and her mother Anne Boleyn on the other. Lockets did quickly evolve into mementos though, and one of the earliest known examples of a locket with a picture in it, is the locket ring of Queen Elizabeth I. Some of the earliest ones held herbs or medicine for the wearer, some held perfume to help mask odours arising from less-than-thorough hygiene and some (owned by people of questionable morals) even held poison! You never know when you might just need a handy supply of poison to get rid of someone, I guess. Pendants had been popular for a long time before lockets appeared on the scene, and many pendants had cameos on them or other special engravings and symbols (some of which were supposed to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck to the wearer). The first lockets often served purposes far removed from “love” and “sentimentality”. No one really knows when lockets were invented, but it is thought that they evolved from the amulets and pendants of ancient times and the Middle Ages. Although lockets are typically worn as a necklace, there are also many examples of locket rings and locket brooches. This is very true that lockets are a sentimental piece of jewellery, but their origins are actually not as romantic as you might think and sweethearts were not the first to own and exchange lockets.Ī locket is by definition “a small case usually of precious metal that has space for a memento and that is worn typically suspended from a chain or necklace / a thin chain necklace with a gold or silver disk which opens to reveal a picture of loved one, or lock of hair”. When we think of lockets, we instantly think of romance, and sweethearts separated by circumstance with only a small token left behind as a remembrance of each other. (Actually my sister suggested that I write a post about lockets quite a while ago, and I hadn’t gotten around to doing it yet, so here it is now!) Lockets are one of those very sentimental and romantic pieces of jewellery, and I can’t think of any better piece of fashion history to delve into on Valentine’s Day, than the history of lockets! Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! When thinking of what I wanted to post for this Valentine’s Day, I immediately thought of lockets. Nicole fashion history fashion history, valentines, vintage

Raven thief on the wolf’s threshold
She alighted on the sill of the window in the dilapidated ruin, dismissing her guise of feathers. She felt so vulnerable without her armour, but it was necessary for this small heist. The less she carried, the faster she could move. Stepping down, she scoured the dim, dusty corridor with her eyes, ears straining for sound.
Silence, but for the trees and the call of a magpie. The hall itself was empty with the occasional bunch of stray moss or weed pushing through a crack in the crumbling elven architecture.
There was a door to her left, just as her mole had reported. Wasting no time, she dashed soundlessly across the expanse and stopped outside, dowsing the interior with her aura. Empty, as promised. But not for long.
It took a tense minute to disarm the door’s arcane trap and the ward tangled beneath it--thank you, Vardra and Adewern--the magic releasing a series of ominous whispers as they deactivated. She slipped inside cautiously, leaning against the door after she shut it and held her breath.
Like all of the spaces he occupied for a time, his mind, his thoughts bled out into frescoes. Beautiful and thought-provoking as always.
But these were grim. Burning forests surrounded toppling towers. Silhouettes of greater demons loomed over cities besieged. And eyes, so many eyes, both glaring and wide in fear.
And beneath it all, running in a panel around the entire office were veins of red.
We’re running out of time.
She tamped down the roiling emotions and beelined it for the desk sitting in a windowed alcove. The room itself was not very furnished, as the ruin was being utilised for meetings and discussions over spy movements--what she was looking for was time.
There were only a few books on the desk, one being Varric’s--unfortunately, all were irrelevant, even as she flipped through checking for stray papers or compartments. The drawers were not trapped, but they were mostly empty too with nothing useful inside. Frustrated, she straightened and turned slowly on the spot, wondering if she’d overlooked--
The chair was facing the windows.
Padding around, she came to a stop just before a beam of sunlight shining through the hazy ancient air. Resting on the plush surface lay a familiar amulet. She immediately reached out and picked it up by the cords. It was the very same--down to the empty socket near the front. She still had the tooth.
She decided there was nothing here. The mole had reported wrong, or Solas had rotated bases again to prevent exactly this from happening...
Yet, why the amulet?
She needed to leave now. Clutching the leather bonds in a fist, she hurried back across the office, out the door, not bothering to reset the wards. Down the hall, the window beckoned. Heart pounding, she climbed back onto the ledge, balancing on the balls of her feet as she took in the dense forest below, preparing to shift--
“You have something of mine.”
Her heart jumped into her throat, but she managed not to fall. Instead, she sighed and turned to face him. Shrouded in shadow beyond the passing sunlight, Solas’ pale blue eyes were transfixed on her face. His lips bore a slant of disappointment--or perhaps he was just tired, if the bruises under his eyes were a tell that the Dread Wolf was in over his head.
She dangled the amulet from two fingers. “And you knew I was coming.”
He moved forward half into the light, eyes never leaving hers. “You still have the headband.” And he looked so, so sad about it. She knew better by now.
“Or...you didn’t know. But neither did I get here in time,” she continued drily. Then a small smile sneaked into the corner of her lips. “Where were you, taking a stroll about the ruins?”
Solas treaded closer, one step. Two. He leaned forward, craning his neck as he braced a hand on the sill beside her foot. “You are too late, vhenan.”
She made as if to drop off the edge--his hand snapped out and caught her free one as she held the necklace tighter over her shoulder, away from him. Her chest had iron bands around it, her breath caught in her throat. His hands were so invitingly warm and familiar. He brushed a thumb over her knuckles, and like the way he called his magic the gesture conjured forth a painful yearning deep in her soul.
“I need to go,” she croaked, mouth dry.
His was curved upward ever so slightly, his eyes so frustratingly watchful. “You took something of mine.”
There was a strange inflection to his voice that had her tilting her head. “So you’ve said. Are you still talking about the necklace?”
His eyes finally flicked past her up at the sky, the clouds reflecting in his heaven-coloured irises. “A storm is coming. It would be a risk to fly in turbulent skies. I’m sure your...people would understand a slight delay in return.”
He was still holding her hand. Inviting. Familiar.
Damn it.
