Hiya!! Names' Sarah (She/her), my younger sister said I should try out this website I guess we'll see if her taste has improved haha. I'm a former Champion level trainer from Sinnoh, though I never took the title for myself. (If you remember my battles against Cynthia, no you don't.)
Nowadays I tend to jump from city to city every so often, every few months usually! I rarely stay in one place for more than a year or two at most, never found anything worth staying for really. I've been in Hearthome for a couple months now, and I'm a manager at one of the bigger department stores. I still battle competitively on the side, It's good money, but I'm not exactly taking the league challenge at this point, haha.
If you want to talk or battle hit me up! My team is as follows:
Clove - Lopunny (My starter pokemon!)
Lavender - Clefable
Anise - Mismagious
Ginger - Togekiss
Nutmeg: Azumarill
Saffron - Vespiqueen
Hello!!! This is a Pokemon irl roleplay blog!
My name is Rabbit and I'm an adult, so be warned that there may be suggestive themes at times on this blog! I'm the same person who runs @professor-amaryllis, so if the art looks familiar that's why!! This blog should be much lower stakes in general, but expect drama stakes and at least some conflict.
I don't interact with sentient pokemon with very few and select exceptions, and I'm picky about players with legendaries as well, as I have a specific cannon I'm working with!!
Sarah is a fun new character with a thought out background and quite a few connections already so I hope you like her as much as I do!!

Hello and welcome to Day 26 of "Let's Explore My Plot Bunnies"
I still feel awful 😷
Tumblr media
Today, I wanna present to you a kind of long idea that I had a while back. It's a Lout of the Count's Family and Pokemon (Crossover-ish?) idea.
It titled it:
"Into the Unknown: Cale Henituse's new life as a Pokemon Trainer"
The idea centers around the original! Cale Henituse, rather than KRS! Cale. And it's really long - both as in "explaining the idea" long, as well as series of book long because I have prepared Cale's Pokemon Teams for 8 Regions, but story wise I only have about 5 or 6 planned.
Basically, imagine that the Sealed God got wind that Cale's existence (together with Raon's, Ohn, and Hong's) will be his downfall from some Hunter that just wanted to cause chaos around. The Sealed God gets into his head to kill the 4 entities that would pose the most problems to his plans, but the God of Death intercepts the spells send towards Cale, Raon (not named yet), Ohn and Hong and instead of killing them, the spell send the four into another dimension - the Pokemon Dimension. (Arceus basically becomes father to a new child and grandfather to his new three grandchildren)
Cale Henituse is 17 here, Raon is 3 years old, and Ohn and Hong are 9 and 7, respectively.
The four appear in Kalos, near the place that Professor Sycamore was exploring. All of them are unconscious and injured - Cale has more negligible injuries, but Raon, Ohn, and Hong are malnourished and have big injuries.
Sycamore takes them back to his lab and nurses them back to health. Cale is the first one to wake up, and he is very much weary of everything and everyone around him. Professor Sycamore is the one who explains what this world is and that people coming from different worlds are somewhat common here. Although speaking and understanding what others say comes relatively easy for Cale, reading and writing are not as easy. Professor Sycamore takes upon himself to teach Cale how to read and write the alphabet of this world - and basically adopts him as well. (Sycamore already has a child, why not two?)
While Cale is fascinated with the creatures known as Pokemon, Ohn and Hong wake up. They are very much scared of everything and everyone around. The one that calms them down is Cale because he speaks to them in the language of their original world, which is way easier for them to understand.
When Sycamore mentions that there is another one left to wake up, Cale asks who. When Cale sees the baby black dragon, he is very much horrified. His mother, Jour Thames, always said that dragons are creatures that should never be bound, nor treated with disrespect. She taught Cale whatever she knew about these powerful creatures, so when Cale sees the harness on the small black dragon, he immediately tells Sycamore they should remove it since it is actually harming the dragon, rather than helping him or being a normal occurrence for such a creature - like Sycamore thought. (Cut him some slack; Sycamore didn't know if the harness is akin to clothes for humans since different worlds mean different costoms)
Turns out that the little dragon has some severe wounds around his wings, so he shouldn't try to fly anytime soon before he heals. Cale is somewhat worried about that, but the fact that he is in seemingly another world takes precedence in his mind at the moment.
Cale, even after Raon wakes up, still finds no way of getting back to his world. The only clue he has for getting back is the fact that "Legendary Pokemon" - as Sycamore calls them - exist and that they have powers beyond the imagination of humans.
While staying with Sycamore, Cale helps with things such as feeding the Pokemon under Sycamore's care or arranging some files with Alain, Sycamore's adoptive son. (Alain proves to be very much like his father and takes a liking to Cale very quickly, declaring Cale - at least in his mind - his younger brother.) This is how Cale meets an injured Absol with whom he connects during the months he spends at the lab.
The turning point in Cale's stay at the lab is when Sycamore's Garchomp - who is gentle and caring - suddenly turns aggressive. Cale notices there is something attached to her neck, so he and Absol, who wants to help, give chase to Grachomp. Unbeknownst to them, the little black dragon, despite his wing injuries, follows them. The chase stops at the top of Lumiose Tower, where not only do they realize they have a small injured dragon following them, but also Cale has his first taste of a Pokemon Battle together with Absol. Absol's Iron Tail manages to shatter whatever is on Grachomp's neck, and everything seems fine, but the black dragon falls off the tower when the small part of structure he is standing on crumbles. Cale dives after him, knowing that the dragon's wings were injured and they are saved by a Mega Blaziken.
Once this ordeal is over, Cale decides he should try and find a way back to his world. His best bet at the moment is going on a Pokemon journey and trying to find one of the Legendary Pokemon to ask for help. The black dragon is interested in Cale since he is not like all the other humans he has met and decides to follow him around. Ohn and Hong are also quite attached to Cale at this point, and they want to follow.
Cale's Pokemon Partner ends up being Absol, who likes Cale a lot and wants to help him.
And so Cale's adventure in Kalos begins. And many more adventures will follow.
Other things to note:
I have Kalos planned out from what is going to happen to Cale's entire pokemon team. The same goes for like the next 5 or so regions.
In Kalos, Cale will have two companions who remind him of Amiru and Eric. I haven't decided on a name for them yet, but I do know I wanna make them siblings. I want the girl to have a Pachirisu as a Pokemon Partner, while her brother has a Corphish.
Cale's Team for Kalos will be: Absol (who will mega evolve); Fletchling -> Talonflame (1st Pokemon caught); Honedge -> Aegislash (reminds Cale a lot of Beacrox; Caught when Cale explores the Parfum Palace); Croagunk -> Toxicroack (Remind Cale of Ron; saved Cale at one point in the story and decided to go with him cause and I quote "the kid needs protection since he ends up hurt all the time"); Slowpoke -> Slowbro (Slowpoke caught himself when Cale was at Azure Bay and helped move the Slowpoke away from the crowd; loves to lay on Cale's head and nap); Mareep -> Ampharos (caught around Route 12; evolves from Flaffy to Ampharos during the Team Flare take over of the Power Plant)
In this au, the gym leaders of Kalos have a small little test to dwindle the numbers of challengers they get at once. Viola will put kids to take pictures of some bug Pokemon without telling them that said Pokemon are very skittish and don't like loud noises all that much; Grant will make them climb up a wall till they get to its highest point (where the battle platform is) and he will battle them in the order they arrive there; etc.
I am throwing the Pokemon canon into the trash can here. There will be characters that shouldn't be as young as they are here. The reason I am doing this is because I like giving Cale tons of unhinged children to look after.
After Kalos, Cale becomes a researcher assistant and helps Sycamore and Alain with their work. Because of this, Cale is sent to other regions pretty often.
After Kalos, Cale goes to Hoenn, accompanied by Raon, Ohn, Hong and Absol only. There, he will travel the region with Steven Stone, a 16 years old teenager. Steven pretty much loves Cale like a younger brother, and he is kinda unhinged should Cale ever be hurt. In Hoenn, Cale is introduced for the 1st time to Pokemon Contests and participates in them, too. He goes so far as to get into the Grand Festival.
After Hoenn comes Unova, where Cale meets Steven again (Steven basically tricked his father into agreeing with him and letting him leave Hoenn). Cale and Steven also meet the mysterious N, a 15 years old teenager, with whom they end up traveling around. In Unova, Cale is chosen by Reshiram, while N is chosen by Zekrom. The main reason is that during this specific journey, Cale starts accepting that there might not be any way for him to go home - accepting the truth of his situation.
After Unova, Cale goes to Alola to teach at the Pokemon School with Professor Kukui. This was mainly something planned by Sycamore as a way for Cale to relax and not have to get into dangerous situations. Alain is also a helping as a teacher for Professor Rowan's summer camp in Sinnoh at the same time. During this journey, Cale will meet both new and old friends as he is trying to teach the kids at the school about pokemon. They even have a school trip to Hoenn for the Wallace Contest, a pokemon contest that Cale was invited to perform as the opening act of the 3-day-long contest.
After Alola, Cale goes to Sinnoh. Here, he will travel around with Riley and frequently meet with Reggie, a Pokemon Trainer who wants to challenge the Sinnoh League and his younger brother Paul, who is a year shy of getting his own pokemon starter. Cale and the others will have to deal with Team Galactic and their nefarious plans as well as Cale's own fears and doubts about his new life in this world.
Next up, we have Kanto where Cale re-encounters Reggie, who is setting his eyes on the Battle Frontier this time around. Reggie is accompanied by his little brother Paul, who just became a Pokemon Trainer not too long ago and chose Turtwig as his starter. Paul ends up admiring Cale a lot during the journey, while Reggie struggles with whether he wants to continue as a Pokemon Trainer or become a Pokemon Breeder. Cale, on the other hand, has his hand full with some of the revelations from his journey through Sinnoh, as well as the knowledge that a god wants him dead.
Cale got a necklace from his mother when he was young. The necklace was made from an unknown stone that no one in his world could identify. Lo and behold, that necklace was a Key Stone for Mega Evolution. How did Jour get her hands on that? Cale doesn't know yet.
I am very tempted to have Chou Jung Soo and Kim Rok Soo just plop into the Pokemon World at one point and Cale to have to take care of these two. Meanwhile, Lee Soo Hyuk has already reincarnated in the Pokemon World as Sui Khan, a trainer from Hoenn. His first meeting with Cale doesn't go all that well, and they both start on the wrong foot with each other. They do become friends later, tho.
Having Raon, Ohn, and Hong have a more... war-free experience would be good in my eyes. Let the children be children, if not in the canon, then at least here. Just let them enjoy going around the regions with Cale.
Alain is also like Cale. He is someone who appeared as a child from another world. The world in question was KRS's world, and Alain was pretty heavily traumatized by all that went down there. So Sycamore has a lot of hard won experience on how to deal with traumatized children - and he uses it to help Cale too because the kid might not be traumatized like Alain was, but he still shows signs of trauma at the beginning.
I headcannon that Og! Cale learned how to cook from Beacrox when he was little. He is now the resident cook every time he explores a region with other companions.
Trust me, the Sealed God will get his ass handed to him by Cale in the future. As a matter of fact, Cale does grow up during his travels: he is 17 when he goes through Kalos; 18 during Hoenn; turns 19 during Unova; 20 when he teaches in Alola; turns 21 during Sinnoh and is almost 22 when he is in Kanto.
Everything happened because a Hunter wanted to cause as much chaos as possible.
Raon learns to mimic dragon-type moves in this AU. Ohn and Hong also train to be strong too. They just don't get as many opportunities to show off at the moment.
To me, Og! Cale is a cinnamon roll that someone dropped in bitter coffee and forgot about. Which translates to "I wanna cherish him and wrap him in bubble wrap."
And this is about everything I have for this one.
So what do you think? Good? Bad? Let me know!
I know this is a bit late, but I am still sick, so my brain is lagging quite a lot. I also wanna say that all the days until Day 31 will cover very long fic ideas. Also, I have memes prepared for this idea that I will post later today.
Regardless, hope you enjoyed my ramblings. Have a great day/night and take care!
See you next time,

my silly crack theory for Legends Z-A is that Xerneas and Yveltal will get Primal forms. my silly reasoning is this: Primal Reversion is associated with the beginning and the end of life on earth. the origin of life is associated with Kyogre because it occurred in the ocean — the "Primordial Sea". for Groudon, "Desolate Land" is actually an outlier among localizations, which mostly translate more literally as "Land of the End" (this includes the original Japanese).
Primal Reversion is a way that Legendary Pokemon become (or return to) manifestations of nature at the chaotic beginnings or apocalyptic ends of life — so it only makes sense that Xerneas and Yveltal could've had more powerful forms under those conditions, too. also: the title of the game is Legends Z-A, not just Legends Zygarde. they chose to use the last and first letter of the Latin alphabet — just like Greek has Omega and Alpha.
also x2: Dialga and Palkia got new forms in Legends Arceus, borrowing from Giratina's Origin Forme gimmick. Zygarde's Complete Forme gimmick isn't really appropriate for Xerneas and Yveltal, with the XY duo not being made of cells or anything, so if they get new forms, it should be either a totally new gimmick, OR a gimmick from their debut generation. this could absolutely mean Megas, but just personally I think Primals would be cooler for these legendaries in particular.
also x3: last but not least, Xerneas and Yveltal kind of have this "sleep in a tree/cocoon for 1000 years" thing going on that wouldn't line up with the timeline of PLZA, because those games are going to be set way less than 1000 years before Xerneas and Yveltal awaken in modern times. I don't fully know where I'm going here, but basically, it makes sense why GameFreak might want to drop in some new additions to the lore to help explain the discrepancy — idk, maybe either Zygarde or some happening in Lumiose awakened Xerneas and Yveltal off-schedule by allowing them to Primal Revert.

Terapagos' Hidden Power
Tumblr media
Terapagos is the newest legendary Pokemon, introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC, the second part of the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. While the story of Scarlet and Violet isn’t over yet as we’re getting an epilogue in January, there’s a scene in the DLC that I absolutely have to talk about as the lore implications are nuts. Obviously there are gonna be spoilers for Indigo Disk, so if you haven’t played yet then you should probably click off this post now.
After capturing Terapagos in the Underdepths of Area Zero, you can gain access to a hidden interaction at Kitakami’s Crystal Pool, noteworthy for its… well, crystal formations of Terastal energy. Upon approaching the pool, Terapagos exits its Pokeball and calls forth a cloud of mist and, seemingly, Professor Sada/Turo before retreating back into its ball. This naturally prompts a discussion between the confused professor and the player, but it’s a brief discussion as after a few minutes the cloud of mist closes back in and takes the professor with it. While I won’t be going too in depth into the conversation with the professor, I will be going into how I think Terapagos is involved with it and revealing a potential hidden layer of mystery and intrigue to this new Pokemon.
Sada’s/Turo’s Arrival
So naturally, the arrival of Sada and Turo is what needs to be covered first as it’s what reveals new aspects of Terapagos to us. First, many would be led to assume that this is actually Professor Sada/Turo as this conversation takes place at the Crystal Pool, a location that’s said to allow people to speak to the dead. However, I believe this to be untrue. Early on in the conversation, Sada/Turo come to the conclusion that they must’ve been transported to the future by some unknown force.
Tumblr media
(Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ-SiGwyCKA)
This wouldn’t exactly make sense, though. After all, the implication about the Crystal Pool is that those you meet there are dead, so why would this be any different? Even the Milotic you battle with Carmine is coded to have the Tera Typing of Ghost to further allude to this fact. The time machine can’t be at fault either as AI Sada/Turo explicitly states that those who travel through time cannot return to the present, which we see Sada/Turo do. But what if what’s happening here isn’t time travel?
Milotic
As stated previously, the Milotic you battle with Carmine to obtain the Crystal Cluster needed to fix the Teal Mask is coded to have the Tera Type of Ghost. This isn’t a hugely known fact though, as it’s only really viewable if you look into the game’s code (or look at Bulbapedia like I did). Obviously since I’m bringing it up, I think it has some relevance here. I find it odd that despite giving this Milotic a Tera Type different from its original type, it never actually undergoes Terastalization. I mean, why not? Wouldn’t that get the idea of “meeting the dead” across a lot better? Not to mention, we’ve seen the ghost of a Pokemon before in the form of the Marowak from Pokemon Tower. Well…
I don’t think that Milotic is dead at all. In fact, I don’t think it was even alive before you first approached the Crystal Pool with Carmine. “This guy must be an idiot, what could he possibly be talking about?”. First, rude, my feelings :(. Second, I actually do have some evidence to back this claim up, and it all lies in…
The Scarlet/Violet Book
Trust me, I’m gonna tie this all together, just stick with me here. If you read the copy of the Scarlet/Violet book in the Academy, you’ll find a section titled “Monsters of Area Zero”. It’s the section of the book that goes over the first discovery of Great Tusk/Iron Treads, as shown in the photo provided below.
Tumblr media
(Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonScarletViolet/comments/zi7ef7/mysteries_of_the_scarletviolet_book_unlocked/)
So why’s this important? It’s simple, really. Quoting Arven:
“Wait, hold on... Isn't my mom's/dad's time machine the whole reason the ancient/future Pokémon ended up here in the first place? This book is from way before she/he made the time machine, but it mentions ancient/future Pokémon. Isn't that kinda...weird?”
Why yes, Arven, it IS weird! This entry basically confirms that the time machine isn’t what’s creating the Paradox Pokemon. Something else within Area Zero is creating these Pokemon from the “past” or “future” based on which game you play. I think the same thing is happening at the Crystal Lake with Milotic and Sada/Turo. That wasn’t a Milotic, and that isn’t Sada/Turo, they’re recreations of a Milotic and the professor made with Terastal energy. And who molded these recreations?
Terapagos and the “Time Machine”
Time to tie this all together with a neat bow. Yeah, there’s obviously a reason that Terapagos’ presence is required for this interaction to happen. It made the Sada/Turo that the player interacts with at the Crystal Pool, just like how it made the Paradox Pokemon originating in Area Zero. Yeah, I’m going as far as to say it also created the Paradox Pokemon. The “time machine” was powered by Terastal energy, the same energy used to create the Milotic, the phantom professor, and presumably our Koraidon/Miraidon. The idea might strike some as odd, as if it’s not a time machine, when what is it?
While it’s hard to say what it is for certain, we can make some inferences on its true identity. Like I said, the whole machine is powered by Terastal energy, which I’m theorizing has the power to create entirely new organisms. The most difficult part to intuit is what it creates organisms from, but I think I have a pretty solid idea: imagination.  Think about the first Pokemon that was pulled through the machine. Koraidon or Miraidon, depending on the version of the game you’re playing. These Pokemon are meant to represent past and future versions of Cylizar, as stated by their dex entries:
Koraidon’s Violet Dex Entry: “This Pokémon resembles Cyclizar, but it is far burlier and more ferocious. Nothing is known about its ecology or other features.”Miraidon’s Scarlet Dex Entry: “Much remains unknown about this creature. It resembles Cyclizar, but it is far more ruthless and powerful.”
And what Pokemon was Heath, someone who you could say Sada/Turo idolized, prominently shown with in the Scarlet/Violet book, a volume which the professor admits is precious to them in their conversation with you at the Crystal Pool? Why, Cyclizar, of course!
Tumblr media
(Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonScarletViolet/comments/zi7ef7/mysteries_of_the_scarletviolet_book_unlocked/)
I just can’t see this being a coincidence whatsoever, the choice to give Heath a Cyclizar while making both box legendaries past and future forms of it just feels so intentional. The Paradox Pokemon having been created during the original expedition makes sense as well. Before they had ever seen a Paradox Pokemon, they had been researching the regular Pokemon they were finding in Area Zero, and given that they were scientists it’s natural to assume they were most likely theory crafting what other kinds of Pokemon could live down there. It was only after a couple days of descending into Area Zero that the team encountered their first Paradox Pokemon. This could even explain why the Milotic at the Crystal Pool had a unique Ghost Tera Type; meeting the dead at the Crystal Pool is a common folktale in Kitakami, and the Crystal Pool is full of crystals of Terastal energy, just like Area Zero.
So, let’s wrap that neat little bow on all this. Terastal energy is clearly some form of creation energy, as it’s been shown to create not only the Paradox Pokemon, but also Milotic and even a duplicate professor. We’ve only ever seen this form of creation occur in two places: Area Zero and the Crystal Pool. Terapagos is stated to be the source of the Terastal phenomenon in it’s Scarlet Pokedex entry…: “Terapagos protects itself using its power to transform energy into hard crystals. This Pokémon is the source of the Terastal phenomenon.”
…and the interaction with the professor at the Crystal Pool does not happen without the player catching Terapagos. The “time machine” is really a machine that brings Pokemon from your imagination to life, and the Crystal Pool shows you terastal energy copies of those who have passed away rather than genuine ghosts. With all that in mind…
Terapagos’ Hidden Power
The true power of Terapagos, the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, is the power of creation. Be it replications of deceased individuals and books they held dear, or entirely new Pokemon that have never existed before, Terapagos can pull ideas from the minds of individuals and, using Terastal energy, will them into reality.

Now that I've played at least one game in every Pokemon region, it is of course time for a ranking. Though note that the criteria is less based on how "good" I think the games are objectively and more on, like, vibes and such and if I have good memories of playing.
10. Sinnoh - This was the only gen I skipped when it came out because I didn't have a ds and didn't know how to emulate one, and when I finally did get one, Black & White were already out and Gen 4 was old news. But a while ago I did play Brilliant Diamond and really didn't have a good time at all. At that point everything felt extremely by-the-numbers and dated and I can't think of anything that this game offered that I didn't already get from the other titles. Some of the Gen 4 Pokemon are nice but it also has so many legendaries, which I really don't like as a concept (I mean I don't like it when the game tells me which Pokemon I'm supposed to find special and interesting). Also not a fan of the art style in the remake and I find Barry incredibly annoying.
Almost all of the BDSP customisation options were S-tier and Cynthia made for a great boss, but that's about it.
Tumblr media
9. Kanto - I was there for the first anime episode so I have a lot of nostalgia for the early days for the franchise, even though I didn't get to play the original GB games. And when I did get Yellow on an emulator I already had Gold, which already covered Kanto so why bother? By now I've played Let's Go Eevee though and didn't really enjoy myself. The Kanto story is so nothing, and the motion controls just kill the whole thing for me. Also Trace is the worst rival character.
Most of my apathy towards Kanto is its overuse though, like the franchise has done interesting things beyond the original 151 but always when there's new forms or a major character hails from a different continent or whatever, its always Kanto and I've grown sick of it.
Tumblr media
8. Galar - There are some characters I really like, but otherwise the Galar games felt pretty hollow. There's a lot of cool looking locations but there isn't any substance to them and you can't do anything in them, and the open area was a great concept but you can't do anything in it either. The giant forms don't do a lot for me either since I tend to prefer small and cute Pokemon so making them bigger and more ""badass"" usually doesn't work for me.
Out of all the Switch titles I like the Galar art direction best (as in how the characters look) at least.
Tumblr media
7. Alola - I remember there being a lot of talk how the Alola games supposedly shook up the formula because they didn't have gyms, but, like, they totally had gyms, they were just outdoors and had a different name. My main memories of playing Moon are about being constantly interrupted by handholding and the unbearable Rotom Dex, and even with the setting being something completely different from usual, I barely remember anything about it. The customisation was surprisingly boring too and I couldn't care less for Z-moves or Ultra Beasts. Lillie is super cute though and Team Skull was a lot of fun and regional forms are an excellent idea, even if it was wasted on Kanto only in this generation.
Tumblr media
6. Hoenn - I had Sapphire on an emulator and later a Alpha Sapphire, and I must say I didn't manage to finish either (I think I didn't even make it out of Mauville in that run), which is why I debated if I should put the Alola games higher just because I made it almost to the end there. But in the end I think Gen 3 did a lot more for the franchise, the berries, contests, secret bases, abilities and double battles are great. I don't have a lot of motivation to go back and finish Alpha Sapphire, all the surfing really doesn't sound inspiring, "too much water" isn't just a meme! Though maybe I should try at least.
Tumblr media
5. Kalos - Now we get to the games where my feelings are a lot more positive. I remember being super stoked for the 3d graphics, and somehow for the fact that your character could sit down on a bench (???). The customisation is also great and roller skating was a fun way to get around. The story was pretty weak though and I really don't like the bland rival friend group. I dunno man, the more I think about it, the harder it is to think about things that actually matter to the gameplay experience that I really like, but regardless I have pretty good memories of Y.
Tumblr media
4. Unova - White was my first game on an actual console (and not an emulator) so that alone makes it special to me. It's hard to come up with anything specific about the gameplay this time around either, but I remember having a good time, the world was fun to explore, N was a great rival and the story was good too. And the Big City of the region was amazing (and so was Kalos' for that matter) and the changing seasons made for beautiful graphics.
Tumblr media
3. Paldea - The graphics were ugly and the performance was a mess, but I like nonlinear open world games okay? And honestly even that didn't work properly since the gym levels didn't scale and I unintentionally did the easiest gym fourth so I was stupidly overleveled, and the world wasn't that interesting to explore either. But I still had a decently good time and also the game had been patched by the time I got around to playing it so I didn't encounter that many bugs.
Also points for making the friendly rival and box art legendary into something I actually liked for once, the school stuff was fun (would've liked even more), the Arven story line is one of my favourite Pokemon stories, and the Area Zero part was great. And overall the game managed to make the overused "beat 8 gyms and deal with the evil team and local legendary" plot feel somewhat fresh.
Tumblr media
2. Johto - The Kanto nostalgia pandering doesn't work on me, but Johto sure does. Gold was my first Pokemon game and I have so many good memories playing it, especially the nighttime Goldenrod city with the 8-bit music is my jam. I would also say that for its time it has been the best improvement on what came before, and of course it's the only time we get two games (or maybe 1,5) for the price of one instead of the other way around with the inclusion of Kanto. Then there is HGSS which contains still the best implementation of follower Pokemon. The story and characters will improve from here and the old gameplay jank doesn't really motivate me to revisit the games but they will always have a special place in my heart.
Tumblr media
1. Hisui - There really isn't any contest here, the gameplay is simply so much better in LGA than in any of the others. Catching and battling Pokemon is so streamlined, the HM equivalents are useful and make exploring more enjoyable rather than being glorified keys, and the story is different for once. And I said I like nonlinear open world games but this is fine as well, when you get a huge area to explore at once, even when they're unlocked in an order. Like what I have an issue with is if you can't take three steps without running into an unskippable NPC scene or some arbitrary roadblock.
I do have issues though, the Pokemon box and Pokedex menu fiddling is atrocious and a way bigger issue here than in any of the other games since there's a lot more incentive to catch and use different Pokemon, I don't really like the art direction, and the customisation options suck and I had to use 90% of the default look for the whole game. But regardless I would really like it if the franchise went into this direction in the future.

Indigo disk and teal mask have been amazing dlc parts I've ever played in Pokemon, but it still left 2 questions for me:
Why on earth did we give to white book to the professor and went back to the title screen and changed it to evening?
And 2. Why permanent flight? I get it's to reach higher places that we couldn't before, which is awesome, but that's pretty much it unless we r going to need it for something else? To reach a new place way up high. Higher than that sphere in the blueberry academy?
So, if they are going to make a 3rd dlc, it'll most likely be something major where blueberry academy and paldea have to work together on and probably the professor will be back again so we can finally have some moments with arven and his actual parent. Not to mention, help kieran make up with his friends again while getting to know our friends and hearing their stories of how they've found their treasures and then gets curious of what his treasure is: which is most likely wanting to be just as strong as the player or at least be like them. What would be even more epic if there is a 3rd dlc, kieran will get the other pokemon ride, koraidon/miraidon (just like Hop got Zacian/ Zamazenta in sword and shield.) for the final battle legendary which is probably gonna be at lvl 100 and finally achieve his treasure. And by the end when those credits are starting and we r hearing celestial again and get back to the title screen, it's gonna be night time, the book will be gone, there's sad beautiful music playing in background, it's dark out and everyone has gone home.
But this is just something I imagined if there would be a 3rd dlc. Also I really want baby boy Kieran to have a little bit more happiness in his life especially after all that is happened in teal mask and indigo disk (he really needs to realise he's strong in his own way so he doesn't need to be just like us.). I also want Arven to at least have a moment with the real professor as well.

Hello hello! The name's Myles Lowery and I'm just your average Galarian! If you see any news about someone with a similar last name to me, then you're barking up the wrong tree.
I'm just a regular guy who runs a dog mon daycare and on the weekends, run a small bakery in Circhester! Find us at Woofles Daycare and Delights!
But a bit about me! I love dog mon and all things relating to them! It's why I opened up Woofles, I wanted to get to know more dog pokemon and it's a great way to get to know the community. The bakery portion is a recent addition, located in the building right next to the daycare. There we serve treats for both you and your pokemon. And don't worry, it's not exclusive to just dog mon, all are welcome. But come and visit sometime! We'll make sure you have a real howler of a time (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
OOC: Hallo hallo!! Anyu hereee!~ Back at it again with a New Guy™
(Mun and muse are both 18+!)
Some Info about Myles:
- He is the (former) champion for Galar. He used to be known as Gloria, but came out as trans to close friends a few months after becoming champion. He held the title for about a year before passing it on to his friend Victor.
- He never transitioned until after stepping down from being champion. He held onto the Gloria image until passing the baton over.
- From Postwick, as he is the PC of the game. He also has the Hero of Many Battles, Zacian. Though this isn't important, he just found a weird ouppy in his backyard.
- Currently resides in Circhester, as he fell in love with the place while doing his gym circuit. The doggy daycare he runs is a small little place that he loves very dearly and his apartment is right above.
- He has a Secret Partner! Not much is said, but I hope I can sprinkle in some hints for people to guess who it is ;3
- He's really trying to avoid being recognized as Champion Gloria, but unfortunately, when your entire circuit was broadcast to all of Galar, it's hard to avoid that question of "Hey, are you-" Play with this how you would like.
Anyway, I'll list the rules before his pokemon and looks! But bye for now!!! (This intro is subject to change in the future!!!)
Rules:
• All ages welcome! I won't have anything suggestive or NSFW, this dude just likes to talk about doggies
• No sapient pokemon or sapient legendaries! Sorry, I really just don't want to interact with anything like that.
• If you want to plan something out with Myles, do please ask beforehand! Don't just @ me and assume I'll roll with punches.
• There will probably be themes of deadnaming and misgendering when it comes to the whole Gloria/Myles thing. I will tag appropriately, but this does not invite anyone to be blatantly transphobic or homophobic. I will block if things get out of control.
• Have fun, mess around with my silly dog guy, and be respectful! That's all I really ask for :3
Okay! Rules Over! Here's his team and what he looks like!!

Hi, what is your favourite pokemon games ranking? If you'd like could you say why you like/dislike them? For example I like pokemon violet not really for the story or the battle mechanic, but because of how easy shiny hunting is
Ah, the hours I've spent playing pokemon games are finally useful. Caveat that some of the games it's been a hot minute since I've played them, so I'm going off memory here.
Also note that I'm just going by the general game, not which version of the release (e.g. Heart Gold, Soul Silver) or the specific color (Gold vs. Silver) or anything like that. We're also not doing the extra/spin-off titles like Pokemon Mystery Dungeons, Hey You Pikachu, or Arceus for that matter.
In order of favorite to least favorite.
Gold/Silver
This gets top slot if only because I remember it more than I do red/yellow/blue (which I played but was a little too young to fully appreciate at the time).
I frequently replay Heart Gold/Soul Silver.
To me this game is peak pokemon. We have puzzles that are actually challenging to solve and a thorough amount of them. The game is appropriately long where the Team Rocket shenanigans, the dungeons, the cave systems, everything takes time and there's always more left to explore.
There's also challenge in battling and catching pokemon I appreciate. Yes, Tentacool, Rattatta, and Pidgy are Poke-God's vermin upon this green earth, but there's something refreshing about being able to have to try to catch things and build your team. Similarly, we get a little boost in experience for one pokemon, but not the entire team as in later gens that gives some challenge in leveling up.
When I defeat the Elite Four it feels like I did something and I'm energized for the post-game content. Which, speaking of, the ability to go to Kanto during the post game to me was just amazing and blew my mind.
It felt as if the game went "here, you liked this? Have another equally good game, have fun."
It's also the last game where you get a rival who's just the worst to you. Silver is a legitimate criminal who commits pokemon theft (which in the pokemon universe is like the worst crime you can possibly commit). He appears at you out of nowhere at the most inconvenient moments and "nope, you don't get to heal your team, fight me now". I enjoy absolutely destroying his team each and every time in a way I just can't when the rival is your derpy childhood friend who's simply annoying.
Team Rocket are actual gangsters in this who are a worrying, corrupt, threat. Upon beating them, I do feel that I saved a lake from giant red mutant Gyrados, or a city from being brainwashed, or any of their very threatening schemes.
Getting the legendaries is a real challenge that you have to work hard to achieve and the story behind them, to me at least, is one of the more compelling ones.
Not to mention I just like the gen 2 pokemon designs, the introduction of the then new types, and all the starters.
God, I love Gold/Silver.
Yellow/Red/Blue
This may have made the top slot if I remembered it slightly better but what I do remember is a very solid game. Yes, we didn't have the diversity of types yet, there's some buggy things, it's the pixel graphics but it has great puzzles, the gyms are very difficult (Brock especially is a challenge if you don't have a Bulbasaur or Squirtle as your starter, a far cry from many of the other games where fire starter all the way baby), a small set of pokemon that's still interesting, and a fearsome Team Rocket.
The gyms were challenging, the Mew-Two subplot was interesting, and it did feel by the end of the game and all the shit you go through you really are a pokemon master.
Pokemon yellow was great in that it allowed you to get the other starters in game in a way that pokemon usually doesn't allow so you have reason to buy both sets of games tee hee. You had your pikachu walking around behind you (which as the first game that did this was very cool as a feature).
And then there's Gary, beautiful Gary, who is the world's biggest shit. He is the most annoying punk in the universe, who never knows what he's talking about, and it's so satisfying to punch him in the proverbial face every time you meet.
"Yes, Gary, I am good at this, please stop mocking me."
Gary to me is one of the best rivals in that while he's not as scary as Silver (who is... very mysteriously questionable in his morals), he's so annoying and purposefully so. You're supposed to hate him and you do.
Ruby/Sapphire
I still really enjoy Ruby and Sapphire and play it often. Again, some of the best puzzles in the series, great terrains to explore in terms of cave systems, the diving feature, mountains, and so on. Here we get the berry system that added a lot to the games, pokemon beauty competitions were new and fun and less annoying, and the scenery started to get very interesting (we got deserts, rainforests, the depths of the ocean, and more).
Team Rocket's slightly dumber in this version in that it's unclear why Team Aqua and Team Magma think their respective ideas are in any way good. Boys, I love land and the ocean too, I don't think we should destroy continents/boil the water. However, you do feel a threat from them and it's difficult to stop them at every turn. What I especially appreciate is we see their plans connect and culminate. You stop one thing and you learn they either got what they needed and they were just toying with you or else this was a plan B they were never that serious about.
As a result, as you go through the game beating gyms they feel like a real, present, and growing threat so that by the time you meet the legendary it feels appropriately legendary and fearsome (the near destruction of the final town was particularly well done).
Like Gold/Silver, this game I felt had really quality post game content and I loved beng able to go on the boat and further explore the ocean.
The Gen 3 pokemon introduce a lot of fun things including Spheal, the glorious Spheal, whom none of us should live without and also a lot of pokemon that speak to the new diversity of landscape in the game (we now have desert pokemon, rainforesty pokemon, seagulls, WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALES, and so on).
The tag team battle is an interesting dynamic here and well used and it's a solid game I return to a lot.
More, of the friendly rivals, I'm going to say that Wally and uh your friend's name who I forget are my favorites. We see a lot of growth from Wally as a character throughout the story that makes his constant need to fight and prove himself to you less annoying than most of the other rivals. He actually has a reason to be doing this. Your friend is obnoxious, in that he only shows up to annoyingly battle you and then leaves because he has better shit to do than talk to you, but I kind of like that he's annoying and that he clearly has some kind of inferiority complex going on. The guy has a reason to fight you all the time and be a complete brat about it and while not compelling as Wally and not as interestingly antagonistic as Gary/Silver, he's far from the worst.
Black/White
Black and White earns this spot on account of N and having an actual interesting Team Rocket story going on. N is the first (and only) time I can recall an in-universe character seriously debating the ethics of Pokemon battles. Should people in the Pokemon universe be using Pokemon to fight each other for profit? Should they 'own' Pokemon at all?
You find yourself having actual debates with N as his arguments are frightfully compelling and you as a character have to wonder what you're fighting for, what your relationship with your Pokemon is, and if N is right or not.
Of course, then you learn that N is being manipulated by gangsters who are summoning terrifying creatures, and that thus you were right all along but it doesn't change the fact that N's storyline is by far the one with the most depth and with it Team Rocket of the game's is the one with the most depth as well.
It's a compelling story.
It's also not too easy yet. It's easier than other gens, and I'm starting to become less of a fan of some of the pokemon introduced, but it's still a somewhat challenging game where your rival still has an interesting backstory and motivation and reason to fight you.
To me the world isn't as interesting as Ruby/Sapphire, Gold/Silver, or Red/Blue (not quite as interesting maps, I don't love the Pokemon as much) but it was a solid game and I'd play it again to refresh my memory.
Diamond/Pearl
And this is where we start our descent downwards into what Pokemon has become today.
It's telling that this one is actually hard for me to remember when I played Brilliant Diamond very recently.
I actually appreciate that this is one of the last games where we're still in Poke Japan as I find the Poke World thing that's been going on since... kind of gimmicky and very unnecessary. So, it's nice that Sinnoh hasn't really become that yet.
The game's starting to get a lot easier than previous games, your rival is now very forgettable and just kind of shows up to either a) annoy you with encouraging words then fight you anyway then tell you how amazing you are b) show up to annoy you.
Team Rocket... exists, they're not entirely stupid like later games but what they're up to doesn't feel that memorable either that I... welll... actually remember it.
To me this was just a really forgettable gen that added some interesting new pokemon but not enough to draw me back anytime soon to this game specifically. I would much rather play the ones listed above.
X/Y
Poke France, here we come. We now get a lot of features I just don't care about such as being able to accessorize my avatar.
It's not as bad as some of the later ones in terms of Team Rocket plot, but I was never entirely sure why we thought destroying the world was a good thing in the first place (versus earlier gens having just evil gangsters, hilarious environmentalists, or poor poor N).
I really liked the legendary design here and the end of the world did feel quite chilling when we got that far. The gyms weren't really memorable to me, nor were the pokemon introduced in the gen, and it's just a game that really starts to pale in comparison to the other gens.
It's not bad, not as bad as the ones below it, but this was a game I played and wondered if I should buy the next gen or not.
Scarlet/Violet
Previous thoughts on Scarlet/Violet.
This earns this spot for being less annoying than Sword/Shield and much better than Sun/Moon. That's it. That's why we're here. If this was all the Pokemon series had to offer I would never have bought another game.
The puzzles are virtually non-existent or laughably easy, because of how experience can be earned the game is ridiculously easy in terms of leveling up, gym battles, etc. Type matchups are no longer a problem as it's ridiculously easy to get powerful pokemon in any environment pretty damn early in the game.
The plot is hilarious but awful in that we get these three plotlines that are just... bad...
You have Nemona who just shows up to battle you then leave and wants you for a rival when she's already Champion because I guess everyone else sucks that hard. You have the plot line where you bully cosplaying nerds to get back to school because of a really hamfisted plot about abuse of power/bullying that is just begging me to feel something about Team Star (I do not), and Arvin's robo-dad who... am I supposed to like him? Am I supposed to think he was a good father deep down? The robo dad plot was the icing on the cake as it hinted at a better game: the game in which we work with the professor and Jurassic Park happens as he keeps summoning pokemon from the goddamn future like a lunatic (but of course we will not get that game in pokemon).
To make it seem like there's a lot to do, you have the Titans, the gyms, and the Team Star thing all happening at once but to accomodate them all happening at once they're all uninteresting/very easy if you're leveled appropriately.
While it's nice to be able to actually catch insanely powerful pokemon you never can otherwise (I actually got all Eevolutions, that never happens, along with a Gyrados, a Dragonite, a Blissey, a Hypno, and a whole bunch of Pokemon that are stupid hard to get usually) it also means that Gyrados are now the Rattatatta of the sea and building a team of gods is... really really really easy.
The open world is a nice thought, but I don't think it complemented the game in that it really did want you to be certain levels for things and there wasn't enough content to justify wandering around. Gotta have the interesting side quests if you want the open world.
I finished the game, saw there was post-game content in which I could... evaluate gyms or whatever I'm doing, and I happily logged off and went on to play Kirby instead.
That said, Pokemon is shifting towards a younger and younger audience (and perhaps rightfully so) and I can recognize that as someone's first serious game where they have to read and solve puzzles this is much less frustrating than previous gens were and perhaps what said audience is looking for.
And hey, I finally got a shiny for the first time in my life, so that's wild.
(I also thing tetralyzing or whatever is dumb, but it's less dumb than some of the others.)
Sword/Shield
Here because it's better than Sun/Moon but... that's really it.
This was like the trial run of open world in Pokemon in that you have the big open area in the middle. The thing is, that place is mostly just frustrating as even if you beat something more powerful than you, you won't be allowed to catch it because reasons.
Once again this game was so easy it became boring. I could switch out pokemon whenever I liked, They all gained ridiculous amounts of experience from battles, I could capture very powerful pokemon very easily int he open area. It took the challenge out of the game and for me the fun.
Add to that that this felt... really really gimmicky to me. The gym leaders went from forgettable to utterly insufferable, your pink rival who becomes adopted by a gym leader is no exception, Team Rocket is just an annoying group of die hard sports fans who won't leave this one girl and her Frakenstein Pikachu alone.
The whole game tries too hard to get me to like all the characters, that there are no bad characters, and it just makes it really hard to get through.
And then we have the even dumber version of tetralyzing: pokemon become real swol sometimes. They just... become really really big. And while I appreciate the graphics I just don't care.
(And I really don't care about the raid battles in general, I tried to do them for a bit as I thought they would be helpful, but the game was so easy I didn't need them and in the end I just found them annoying.)
As a result, I didn't even end up finishing. I couldn't do it. I asked myself why I was playing and then realized I wasn't having fun and moved onto a different game, I have not returned.
Sun/Moon
This one was just real bad all around.
I didn't get far into it but the gym battle system was actively obnoxious, the new gen pokemon weren't interesting, even the map itself just wasn't as fun as other games.
While the concept of the same pokemon having different types in different regions was a neat one, it wasn't enough to pull me into the game with everything else about it.
I got even less far into this than I did Sword/Shield.

Predictions on Future Pokemon Titles & Legends Z-A
*Note, these are PREDICTIONS, not leaks & rumors.
Let's get one thing out of the way, there ARE NO UNOVA remakes, The Pokemon Company intentionally sent fake info to insiders in order to sus out leakers.
The Pokemon Company decided to skip Unova & move on straight to Kalos due to the difficulty of making a faithful remake of Black & White while pretending BW2 doesn't exist in addition to the poor reception of BW & BW2 on release. Also, the Pokemon Works Label is essentially a mobile gaming division, they have no involvement in console games.
There will be an XY remake for later this year made by Pokemon Works that is an Apple Arcade exclusive, another game they are working on is a Clash Royale knockoff involving the TCG & Pokemon Figures.
Now, Onto Legends ZA
It's chock full of stuff from Scarlet & Violet that got scrapped, either cuz of time or cuz it didn't fit into SV's playstyle. Among those are the unused held items for Koraidon & Miraidon, The Tera Exclusive forms (which were converted into mega evolutions for Legends ZA), & the PKHex feature.
This also includes a new Pokemon named Amalgaton (A Stellar type mythical that combines visual traits of numerous legendaries, namely Rayquaza, Kyurem, Ho-Oh, Miraidon, & Necrozma), which was originally going to be a part of a 2nd mythical event in Scarlet & Violet, but instead became the 2nd focus mon behind Zygarde.
The story takes place right after Scarlet & Violet, however, there is some time travel to the past involved. This is the reason why the game only takes place in Lumiose city.
Amarys plays a major role in Legends ZA, along with other past characters like Faba, Raifort, Xerosic, Bonnie, & Emmet, the former 3 becoming the primary antagonists for this game after being wronged by their initial organizations.
Volo also returns.
This game also has butt ugly photorealistic graphics akin to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for the "Next Gen" look.
The devs are targeting a March 2025 release date to coincide with the release of the next gen console.
What do y'all think? could any of this stuff actually happen in the future?

Reactions/Thoughts about Today's Pokemon Direct (Feb 2024)
First off: I was predicting a Johto remake over a Unova remake. Because LGPE counts as part of the remake cycle.
I also pre-made a bingo card, so I was paying attention for these things:
Tumblr media
I was still setting up during the intro, so I didn't even process the Unown.
Plush in back! Check! (That was going to be obvious)
SV event is Tera Raids, no Mythical. Might still be coming?
Pokemon GO is a tie-in to Horizons with a couple of new species. Neat. No Gigantamax (honestly with how Raids are what Dynamax is based on, I'm not sure how that'll be introduced).
Legendary in Sleep!!!! (I actually play this game, so I'm excited.) I was tempted to put Mew or something as my Sleep prediction, but I thought that was too far-fetched this early and a Unova tie-in would be appropriate if there were Unova remakes. Wait... Johto beasts? Johto..?
Master's EX has Silver on spotlight! Check off the Johto character on spotlight in Master's EX slot! No Unova characters, it seems. We have Geeta, the Aether family, and Riley, which are from neither region. Two Johto things, though...
Cafe Remix has some Paldea Pokemon. I haven't played this game since it came out and every time I think about going back I remember I got stuck on a puzzle and I seemed to need to pay for a microtransaction to win so I just don't.
Unite I randomly guessed Terapagos and I was wrong. Lots of Ceruledge today.
This TCG thing appeals to me. Very much appeals to me. I played TCGO pretty much only logging in daily so I could open a pack every five days - the actual gameplay took way too long. Opening two packs every day with a shorter type of gameplay? Appeals very much. I am the target audience here.
Oh and exploring the artwork? Having the artwork actually designed to look good on the phone's screen? I am the target audience. I love this. I want this now.
Wait, Unown in this transition. Unown in the intro. Johto Beasts. Silver. We're getting Johto this year! I was right!
That font in the Confidential writing... reminds me of the Team Rocket Pokegear style in HGSS.
City design? Is this a spin-off actually?
There's an awful lot of Kalos Pokemon...
That's the Eiffel Tower type thing. It is Lumiose!?
It's a Legends title! And Z! In 2025!
I absolutely did not expect this. I expected something unexpected, which is why I put "No Legends Title" on my card, but I did not expect them to skip over Johto AND Unova to head straight to a Kalos revisit.
Z-A is the actual name. AZ's whole plot took place 3000 years ago, and this isn't 3000 years ago. By other people's saying when the Eiffel Tower went up, it's taking plaace more like 150 years ago, which is contemporary (within 30 or so years) of Legends: Arceus's real-world equivalent.
But Z-A might mean we go back in time further? Maybe? That'd be interesting. But as always, I can't get my hopes up too much.
The A definitely looks stylized like it's an actual Pokemon like Z is Zygarde, but it's not one we know. Mysterious.
2025 is a good sign. Though Legends: Arceus came out in January of the target year and it still seemed it could have used some polish. Not as bad as Scarlet/Violet, but it certainly looked worse than Sword/Shield and Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee. So I hope they release it when it's actually polished, not just functional. I hope to see trailers for it in next year's Pokemon Day Pokemon Presents, and its inclusion this year was only because there's no other real headline.
As for my Bingo card?
Tumblr media
No Bingos.

Bocchi the Rock! is a work of art.
Obviously, it's animation, and animation is art. But I mean more than that. BtR as a piece of media is the coalescence of so many art forms and things that I enjoy about creation and media into one coherent work.
And this is from a 4koma manga series.
Read more below the Read More, this is mostly free of spoilers. Mostly.
CHAPTER 1 (yes this has chapters)
Okay, let's set the scene.
The year is...well, let's say just before the 2010s drop. As a kid who still doesn't know much about anime, you stumble across two anime series. The first one in this example is K-On! It's a CGDCT/slice of life (whichever term you prefer) about a girl learning the joy of playing music and making friends...for a rough summary.
Tumblr media
It's a really good anime, and for someone who had a pretty poor experience with learning instruments in school (personally, acoustic guitar and piano) it definitely planted the seeds of "guitar is pretty cool" and "making music is pretty cool" in my mind.
...But it's not perfect at doing that. It has the growth across the series, but that growth is streamlined, I'd argue even idealized (though forgiven due to what genre this show is), and it lacks the specific type of impact that I've always been partial to in music.
The other show had that impact.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is one of my all-time favorite series, and for more than one reason. Today, as you might expect, I'm here to talk about specifically the band scenes of God Knows and Lost My Music.
Tumblr media
Fucking Legendary.
This scene has Impact. I can hear this, watch the scene, and it makes me both want to pick up my own guitar or just sing along as if I'm in the crowd. Every time. The genre of the song being to my tastes helps, but on a technical level the delivery and setup is extremely well done.
What this show doesn't have for guitar, though, is the growth. Obviously. If you've seen Haruhi, you know why, and if you haven't, please go watch it? Please? Do it for Nagato. Then watch the movie.
...Anyway.
I'm not a connoisseur of anime. I've honestly barely watched much anime since halfway through college, so I'm sure someone out there has other good examples of a music-focused anime that achieves both that sense of Growth and Impact at the same time.
Good on you. Hopefully you agree that Bocchi the Rock! fucking slaps.
Tumblr media
BtR comes out of the gate swinging, and it left me with a concussion. Social recluse discovers the appeal of guitar, and then they timeskip 3 whole years to her being good at the instrument. A reasonable human timeframe is terrifying. I'm not even joking here.
Then they address the issue of learning to play with Other People. This isn't even just applicable to Bocchi, this is about band and group music settings in general. You can be cracked at solo performances, but if you aren't used to even being around someone else, it's going to take time to get used to playing or singing or acting around them comfortably.
ALSO CAN I JUST SAY HERE BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE THAT KESSOKU BAND'S SONGS GO HARD??? NOT JUST THE AUDIO THE MVS ARE ALSO KINDA INSANE what the fuck i am looping them so much ok back to the essay
The depiction of learning and growth doesn't end there by any means. Episode 8 is maybe the hardest I've been hit by watching something in the past couple years, and I live in terror because of the thought they'll get me again with something in the finale.
From the next GIF (Kita) to the one after that (Bocchi playing a guitar), I am going to talk about the details of that episode. Your one spoiler warning.
Tumblr media
Ok. I am now going to nerd out about how specifically Bocchi the Rock! is not something that can properly be captured in a static panel format after the events of Episode 8. You with me?
As a music anime, obviously having music to go with the band elevates the anime above the manga by default. It's sort of a staple of the genre and leaving it out would result in this weird state the Pokemon titles are currently in where they need that crucial audio to sell the delivery. Anyway sound good.
But the vast majority of performances are either deliberately bad for the sake of showing a beginner status, or essentially flawless. BtR does not fucking do this. Their audition run was really solid, and you as the viewer are primed to expect that same thing from the band because if they've hit it once, they can hit it twice right?
lmao
Guitar, Loneliness, and Blue Planet feels almost painful to listen to here. Bocchi narrates internally the issues she's seeing, but even without that you can fucking FEEL the dissonance. The vocalist tripping over her lines, the lead not being in charge of the pace of the song, a general buildup of nerves and lack of experience that you can feel and see and hear and that burrows into your skull as the performance comes to a close. S l o w l y. They do not skip over this. You are in the audience watching this band stumble on their first performance. It hurts.
AND THEN BOCCHI FUCKING FLOORS IT. (see the GIF marking the end of this spoiler section)
By taking charge of the room with a solo, she's able to drag everyone out of that auditory funk they were just dragged through. Herself, the audience, the viewer, her bandmates. They pull out their new song, That Band, and it is taking all of my willpower to keep this paragraph from devolving into a keymash and incoherent rambling about how much I love this scene and this song and this series.
It's really good. It's really fucking good.
This scene capitalizes on both the ability to put the viewer in that uncomfortable situation in the first place and then drag them out, and ALSO by hiding the full contents of the original songs before the first time they're performed live in full (Guitar, Loneliness, and Blue Planet was used at their audition in a similar way, you knew essentially nothing about it going into that scene). These things together with the commitment to sitting through the entire scuffed first song before the intense shift into overdrive as Bocchi shreds both her guitar and the awkward silence and they go into a second equally impressive original song makes this scene by far my favorite in the anime, and the only thing that would top this is if they outdo themselves in the final episode.
Tumblr media
Spoilers over! Welcome back.
Between the commitment to bringing out Bocchi's character even further in the original songs, the technical details of the songs themselves, and the attention to detail in the actual performances during the show, there is an incredible level of passion poured into making this show that is honestly up there with the people who made the movie Redline. (Go watch that one if you have the time, it's a banger too but that's a different topic).
AND THAT'S JUST OFF THE AUDIO AND STORY STRUCTURE BABY, BUCKLE UP HERE WE GO AGAIN
CHAPTER 2: the rest
Now comes time to talk about the fact that this music series that can and will get you emotionally involved in it IS A COMEDY AS WELL.
There is no comedy in the actual performances, and that also contributes to why they hit so hard when you see them play out. BtR manages to walk two tightropes at the same time, delivering immensely high-quality musical performances and a solid cast right alongside genius visual gags, surreal visuals, references to a ton of other media, and fun and engaging personalities throughout the roster.
Tumblr media
Bocchi's ability to deform and warp reality is a tangible and recognizable thing to the cast, and the amount of different styles and dimensions and framerates and methods of delivery and length of the gag vary from episode to episode, as well as within each episode. It almost feels like a class presentation session at times, with new styles and references popping in as a guest before cutting back to the regular depiction of the characters in their normal state.
They also??? Do 3D really well??? Like yeah you can tell what parts of some performances are using 3D but it isn't intrusive. It's implemented in a way that it complements the rest of the scene instead of detracting from it (I should clarify this also applies to the more esoteric 3D scenes but for different reasons than the ones used in performances).
Reading through an translation of an interview done with some of the staff (link here, highly recommend reading it) reveals that the animation crew is indeed just full sending into a gag and pulling out all the stops to deliver a punchline without breaking the coherence of the series as a whole.
I love them. I love this show.
Tumblr media
CHAPTER 3???? CLOSING WORDS I GUESS
There is more I could say about this series, about the things that I love so much about the show, about the characters and my personal favorite gags and other moments I love.
But hopefully you understand now why I hold BtR in such high regard. A music anime produced to the highest degree, a legendary combination of music, audio, writing, visual media variance, and character designs.
It no doubt stands on its predecessors. But to compare it to K-On! in a way does both of them a disservice. This is as much a passion product as it is a production, and the entire staff and cast have my deepest thanks for delivering so well on this series.
I am not ready for the final episode.
Help.

Character ask meme:
Eusine
and Morty !!
Character Ask Meme (Accepting)
Eusine
What I love about them: God I wish I had even half of the drive & ambition (and energy) this man has to chasing his dreams he’s like Sonic but less cocky and more free-willed & i don’t think I can remember any other Pokemon character being this excited over just the slight chance of achieving their goals c’:
What I hate about them: It’s been a long while since I played SoulSilver but I didn’t find him creepy/stalker-like at all like the fandom likes to assume…? So I don’t really hate him for anything ._.;
Favorite Moment/Quote: Still cry over the fact that he congratulates you if you successfully catch Suicune. Man could’ve said nothing or told you off for crushing his dream but he decided to thank you instead for the chance to meet Suicune what did we do to deserve this man ;-;
What I would like to see more focus on: I do find it kinda weird that only Suicune gets the focus and not any other Legendary Beast…? We don’t get any context for why Eusine is only focused on Suicune specifically instead of the other two so that might’ve been cool to see i guess ._.; (I mean we kinda sorta got a special episode with Raikou I think but idk I don’t think that counts)
What I would like to see less focus on: Why did they make Eusine yell at Ash. I mean…I get why (kid basically claimed to see the gay chicken god but Eusine wasn’t having it) but why c’: (he never yelled at the player in-game so I see the anime Eusine as very ooc)
Favorite pairing with: Morty x Eusine! (Sacredshipping) but sometimes Jasmine x Eusine too (I think it’s called Simpleshipping…? Kinda basic if you ask me :P but still cute ^-^)
Favorite friendship: Guzma & Steven Stone. Guzma cuz of my oc phase (where basically my oc was friends with a bunch of Pokemon characters & became a crime-fighting team i dont care if its cringe shut up). Steven because I can see these two accidentally/coincidentally running into each other a bunch of times for them to eventually meet up & eventually become travelling buddies.
NOTP: …nobody ships him with Suicune right? …Right?
Favorite headcanon: I still like to think he’s a waterbender who learned from his uncle (which is the dude in Celadon City that can only be accessed through Surf). I mean…it gives further context for why he’s searching for Suicune specifically, plus I doubt any of his Pokemon know Surf either & it’d be kinda hard to chase a water deity if you don’t know how to use Surf yourself ._.;
Morty
What I love about them: He was the only male Ghost Gym Leader until the shy guy kid from Galar came along & stole his title :c in all seriousness tho I think he has the best character design out of all the Ghost Type Gym Leaders, even the Gen 4 design wasn’t too on the nose (like Agatha or the shy guy kid again, yeah yeah I know his name but i never played Sword/Shield so i’m not using it) or too obtrusive (Fantina…) Also his voice actor’s AMAZING and very underrated I wish people knew about Andrew Rannells more :c
What I hate about them: The Gen 4 design was still kinda pushing it as far as Ghost Gym Leader aesthetic goes & I still like his Gen 2/Anime design better but that’s just me :/ (also he killed my starter on my nuzlocke run when i was 11 ;-;)
Favorite Moment/Quote: I love the part in the anime where Ash asks: “wait you can talk to/understand Ghost Pokemon how?” And Morty just immediately answers “Practice.” (Also again thank you Andrew Rannels for the way the line was delivered I can’t do it justice but it’s like he saying “uuuh how do you do anything Ash huh?” xD)
What I would like to see more focus on: I don’t really see much of a problem with how he’s portrayed in game and/or the anime actually! True, more screen time and/or backstory is greatly appreciated for his interest in Ho-oh (at least in game, the anime is fine) but for what we got, I’m glad we had a Gym Leader who actually paid attention to/studied the mythos of the region for once instead of just being generic miniboss no. 14 (it might’ve been kinda cool to see his clairvoyance used more like in the manga but idk how that would work ._.;)
What I would like to see less focus on: idk he doesn’t get much screen time so there’s not much i can say about him that wasn’t needed…? Unlike Eusine, Morty’s initial attitude towards Ash (dismissing his claims about rainbow birb) made sense for his character (because he didn’t yell at him) but I guess if anyone was going to give Ash a hard time it should’ve been Morty, not Eusine. (Though this would’ve made for some annoying/petty/unnecessary drama so I can’t complain ._.;)
Favorite pairing with: Eusine (Sacredshipping) & Steven Stone (Knightshipping I think…? idk the pokeship list is a mess) Morty & Eusine both hold a special place in my heart for being the first Pokemon characters I liked (and for fueling the oc dream team I mentioned earlier) but I can also see some chemistry with Steven too! They can be chill together c:
Favorite friendship: uuuh does frenemies count cuz I still think Yellowjacket (Guzma x Morty) is the best Guzma ship I’ve come up with yet, platonic or otherwise (though I see them more as frenemies than lovers) I can also see AZ & Morty being close friends too…? idk i just want my top two favs to be buddies & share stories about their history and legendaries together 🥺
NOTP: I used to see Falkner x Morty EVERYWHERE on deviantart and it was very yabai 😬 (though hopefully that’s changed now…? It was less about the characters themselves & more about how they were portrayed…shota…)
Favorite headcanon: because I have been sucked into a new fandom hell I like to think Morty is Keito Hasumi’s uncle and I’ve been meaning to recreate my old dead rp blog just to write about their dynamic but he basically taught Keito everything he knows about music (and possibly magic) and was basically Keito’s second dad (since his real dad is probably too busy working as a monk) and no this totally isn’t just another way for me to put two of my fav characters together whaddya talking about (also the fact that both of these characters have the voices of an angel seriously go look up Andrew Rannells and Yuichiro Umehara right now they are too good for this world ;-;)

LOl imagine Emmet having to be carried away from something dangerous, bawling his eyes out and begging Ingo to run away too as he remains behind to give them time to get away. Because I'm just evil like that. Oh and extra fun with all this going on in the post game where there are, like, dangerous legendary pokemon around.
Emmet usually isn’t hard to carry, being that he’s 10 and a fairly scrawny kid, but he becomes exponentially harder to carry when he is kicking and screaming.
No one really knew why the alpha Electivire had suddenly decided that the Summit Camp was built too close to its territory. All they knew was that it was really, really pissed off now. Which was why everyone in the camp was currently retreating to the safety of Moonview Arena. Or, everyone except for Warden Ingo.
It was really kind of lucky that he was around when the enraged electric type started shooting lightning bolts at the tents. Without his quick reflexes and powerful Gliscor, the entire place probably would have been leveled in minutes.
As soon as the attack had started, Ingo shoved Emmet into the arms of a member of the Security Corps and ordered him to “Get him out of here, now!”
Needless to say, little Emmet wasn’t very happy about this. He didn’t like the idea of being separated from his older brother. He wanted Ingo to be heading to safety with them, or if he insisted on staying behind, letting him stay and fight with him.
But Ingo wouldn’t even entertain the idea of Emmet, or anyone for that matter, staying behind to help him.
So he was upset, to say the least.
“Let me go!” He screams, thrashing in the guard’s arms like a wild Barboach. He must have finally decided that it wasn’t worth it to keep taking blows from his flying knees and elbows when they got into the arena, and unceremoniously drops him, cursing in pain.
At this point Melli notices the commotion and the sudden crowd that has formed in the usually abandoned arena. Something must be wrong; that much is certain, and when he sees Emmet looking so distressed, without Ingo, his stomach does a flip.
“What in Sinnoh’s name is all of this about?” He demands.
Emmet’s eyes lock on him. “Melli!” He yells, “There’s a Pokémon—Ingo is—you have to help him!”
Melli’s stomach does another flip. Emmet hasn’t given him much to work with, but it’s enough. Without another word, he dashes to the arena’s entrance, calling for his Skuntank to follow.
When he gets to the Summit Camp, Ingo is locked in a fierce battle against the biggest, most irate Electivire he’s ever laid eyes on. He’s sweating, and has just returned a fainted Gliscor to its pokeball when he sends his Skuntank into the fray. He looks startled when he glances over and notices him, like he’s seen a ghost.
“What do you think you’re doing?” He asks, bewildered and apparently too stressed for pleasantries.
“Saving your ass, from what it looks like,” Melli fires back.
“Of all the idiotic things to do—“
“Oh, I’m the idiot? Sorry, I would have thought that title would have gone to the guy who was trying to take on the royally pissed off alpha Electivire on his own.”
“I have this handled, Melli. You shouldn’t be here, risking your safety to help me.”
“Well, I’m already here. So stop trying to make me leave.”
Ingo grunts but doesn’t reply. Gliscor is replaced by Probopass, and he continues fighting.
Even with the two wardens fighting side by side, it takes a while to take down the Electivire. By the time it finally wobbles on its feet and topples over in a great crash, both of them are panting and exhausted.
Trudging back up to Moonview Arena to give the all-clear, Melli says, “Emmet is really upset, you know. Why didn’t you let him stay with you?”
Ingo looks outraged. “Emmet is 10,” he says. “He could have gotten hurt!”
“Emmet has kicked your ass several times. He’s strong. He could have helped, probably better than I could.”
As Ingo considers this, his frown deepens. “He’s 10,” he repeats.
“And you are a grown ass adult who knows better than to face a monster like that alone.”
Ingo doesn’t have a proper response to that, so he sighs and says, “You’re right. And I’m sorry for calling you an idiot, by the way. I did really appreciate your help back there.”
Melli spreads his arms and loudly proclaims the Summit Camp free of Electivire’s tyranny as they walk back into the Arena. Not seconds after, Emmet crashes into Ingo’s side in a hug.
“I was so worried!” He blubbers. “Please don’t do that again!”
Melli shoots Ingo what can only be described as a warning look and he gulps before promising, “I won’t.”

Hello, hello!
For that "send in a character name and receive four different headcanons" ask game, is it possible for you to do Rosa/Mei, please? :)
yes!!! sorry it took me so long to get to this!
1. realistic
honestly my interpretation of Rosa is not very similar to canon at all. her name's not even Rosa, it's Mei, because when BW2 was first being announced we didn't know their english names for a while and i liked the name Mei too much to change it in my head. i have tried to reconcile my view of her with canon a bit more recently, though. i think she's very into fashion and dressing in fun, outlandish outfits. she really likes bright colors and fun accessories, she just doesn't have the confidence to pull it off at first in my au. like, she wears bright colored outfits because her mom insists she should express herself, but then can't handle the curious looks she gets from people.
2. unrealistic but hilarious
i like the idea that she’s not the most gifted at practical parts of pokemon training at first, like aiming her poke ball throws or giving quick decisive commands in battle, but her book smarts are off the charts. she knows every pokedex entry by heart, she knows a million obscure facts about the pokemon living in unova, she's got all this stuff memorized, she just has trouble, you know, doing the things trainers spend most of their time doing. at least at first. it's a confidence thing, she gets better as she grows.
3. soul-crushingly awful
i've alluded to this before, but i feel like Mei is a very shy and quiet kid. not by nature, just from a childhood of bullying and rejection. she only really had her mom and her best friend Hugh for companionship growing up. Hugh is a super great friend but not perfect since he's a kid too. she's known him since before she came out as a trans girl and if anyone ever says anything rude about her while he's around he'll kick their ass. he just can't be there all the time, you know? and her mom loves her a lot, and supports her a lot, but just doesn't really GET it. she doesn't get why things are so hard for Mei and thinks if she just encourages (pushes) her enough, she'll finally be the daughter she wants her to be. but i think Mei is autistic, and went undiagnosed as a kid, and has a lot of self esteem issues from not living up to people's expectations no matter how hard she tried. it takes leaving home on her pokemon journey and meeting people and pokemon (besides Hugh) who love her for exactly who she is, before she uncovers the confidence and capability that she always had.
4. Unrealistic but i will disregard canon and believe it anyway
i said in the Colress post that i headcanon that Colress adopts Mei, and i was gonna just use that same headcanon for this, but i wanna change it up a little. i already talk so much about how i think Colress and Mei should be found family, i’ll do something different here. who wants to learn about Legendary Pokemon Lore in my AU? strap in.
i feel like there's something in particular that makes legendary pokemon "legendary", beyond just being the subject of legends. i think the connection between humans and pokemon is kind of a magical thing that makes both the human and the pokemon stronger, hence why humans and pokemon started working together. i had the idea that for legendary pokemon, that connection is much stronger and provides much more power than normal, even resulting in a kind of psychic bond. legendaries can choose one human in particular to bestow this power on, and beyond just being its trainer and being able to command it in battle, this allows the human to wield some of the legendary's power on their own, and gives them the ability to communicate with each other telepathically and call to each other from anywhere. a human granted this power is referred to in legend as the legendary's "patron". often, the legendary even grants them a title.
anyway, the point of me saying all that is that i think Mei is Kyurem's patron. maybe the patron connection is a thing that ripples through time, and Kyurem called out to Mei for help while it was held captive by Team Plasma, leading her to it so she could rescue it. i'm not set on that part, but either way, Mei puts her life on the line to save Kyurem, and in return it chooses her to take on some of its power. the patrons of Reshiram and Zekrom (Touko and N) have the titles "knight of truth" and "prince of ideals". Mei's title is “herald of balance".

Misc Sinnoh Thoughts
Dawn goes through the E4 and does beat Cynthia but she refuses the throne of the champion, something relatively unheard of. She went through so much effort to only deny the title she worked so hard for. But she would rather have all that effort go to waste than have an end result she never wanted in the first place (her journey was because of what adults wanted from her).
Cyrus isn’t snake man type of evil outside of killing children but I can’t help but align youkoso waga tainai e ai to ego no shuuchakuten (outer science) with him. Partially cuz I think it fits him somewhat but this frame from the MV has kind of existed in my head whenever I think of the spear pillar incident (see the below).
Tumblr media
Cyrus kind of saved every admin before forming Team Galactic officially. Them being saved by him essentially causes them to be ride or die for him. They would have gone into the distortion world with him had he not stated only he can go.
Battle frontier gang play a kind of important role (mainly in helping the parents reach their children and evacuation assistance w the gym leaders) but they’re all extremely goofy. They act like a sitcom cast but they’re besties(tm). I’m not to concrete on their dynamics of personalities yet but please know for a fact that they have had to stop Thorton from running himself through Doctor Robotnik’s roboticizer multiple times. Whenever Barry comes to visit Caitlin is horrified at the prospect of two Palmers.
Red Blue and Leaf are also here! They’re here because they want to investigate the creation trio (reasons relating to Kanto style). They kind of exist in the narrative as mentor figures as well assist with protecting civilians but remain kind of uninvolved in the plot. Just think of them as like. If they were in the game they’d be equivalent to walking into Cynthia’s beach home. Super bosses.
Cynthia is favored by Arceus and has visions of the end of the world caused by Cyrus because of it. While she may be favored by it Arceus is still cruel. Arceus does very little divine intervention because it likes testing the fortitude of the human spirit, Cynthia’s especially.
I tiptoe around PLA because I have not played it. But rn my idea is Lucas is the protag but all three go. Emphasize the world is saved because of the three doing their thing in Hisui and saving the world. Have it so the three of them being there saving the world and earning the trust of the lake trio makes them the chosen three in history, therefore being them the chosen three in modern day. It’s a cycle that’s never ending that they can only break out of in the modern day by giving up the entire world. They do come back too but like. Shits fucked.
Post everything (including Hisui) the gang goes to Kalos. Part of the reason why is that Sinnoh is kind of an unlivable place for them but also they want to research Xerneas and Yveltal because while Barry is still “alive” but his revival was very incomplete. Like he can still interact and is himself (minus trauma) but his body is by far the most fucked up and is so cold it’s scary. So they want to see if looking into the legendaries could help them fix their friend. They therefore appear in Pokemashe Kalos Style but they’re kind of unimportant compared to the actual Kalos characters. Like The kanto trio, they’re moreso just acting like super bosses. They also may or may not form a polycule around this time.
CONSEQUENCES OF DISTORTION WORLD YIPPEEE:
Barry is essentially half alive (see above). Has a hole shaped scar in his head.
Everyone has their respective legendary’s stone ingrained into their body where they lost an article of clothing. Anything that touches it causes excruciating, burning pain.
Cyrus kind of never returns from it. Probably dead because being in the distortion world without any form of legendary pokemon watching over them is like being naked in a nuclear reactor. The distortion world distorts all including, but most especially, life.
The admins are kind of listless after this.
Cynthia is fine because again #ArceusMoment but is she really (the guilt is eating away at her)
The gang has nightmares of Dialga Palkia and Giratina haunting them.
Sinnoh’s topography is kind of fucked up too but they’re making repairs.
WORLDBUILDING ASPECT I HAVE NOT MENTIONED YET (The importance of the “apprenticeship”/How to walk among the gods):
Essentially an apprentice to the lake guardians is someone who will carry on their role. If a member of the creation trio is overthrown the lake guardian that correlates with it goes with them. So if someone were to take the place of Giratina, Mespirit would go with them. But in order to become a god you must have a retainer, someone to put you in check (according to Arceus’s rules), so an apprentice must follow with you into godhood.
There must be an living apprentice at all times, so if you die, you’ll be replaced. It’s not required for the lake guardians to approach you, so long as you are present in their mind, but they will only approach if they foresee disaster that threatens a creation trio member’s.

Wo-Chien + his status in Paldea -
After finding someone to explain it to him, Wo-Chien rejected his legendary status.
He went to the academy’s history teacher, Ms Raifort, to get the explanations. Wo listened to every word that was spoken, even if he already knew what she was talking about. After she finished giving him info about why he was legendary - mostly talking about the tablets - Wo-Chien was quick to respond with “If that status was given to me solely because to the tablets, then I refuse to be referred to as such. I am more then the tablets that I hold. Either refer to me as a whole with that title, or don’t do it at all.”
He argued with Ms Raifort about the subject until she ran out of responses and he was too weary to continue.
Wo doesn’t think too much about that title for the other Ruins, but he would think of it as “Ting-Lu doesn’t care, Chi-Yu cares a lot, and...he...treats it like something worth defending.”
If one wants to use that sort of thing to refer to Wo-Chien, the snail would say that he accepts being called ‘a rarity’ instead, mostly due to it sounding like ‘legendary’ without saying that he was one.
--
The snail doesn’t interact with other legendaries, as he knows that they have more power and can do what he would do in a battle setting better than he does. And because most of them are really scary, and he knows that they could very easily do away with him if he ever confronted them.
He does want to encounter one of them, though. The one that everyone and their Growlithe calls ‘the god of all pokemon’ - Arceus. Once Wo gets to talk with him, he’ll be able to find out about why the ‘sky llama’ decided to ignore him when he needed guidance in the past.
--
Wo-Chien has a personal grudge against Arceus that he wrote down on a tablet that he keeps in a secret place within his shrine(alongside two others in a tightly sealed metal box that he buried under the floorboards). He wrote it after attempting to get in contact with him while coping with the loss of the scribe in the Paldean king’s castle, and getting ignored as a result.
After seeing the religious humans in the castle offering things to the ‘sky llama’ and getting advice and guidance from said deity in return, the still-distraught Wo-Chien decided to try it for himself. He observed their actions and listened to their words, noting down what he needed to remember, before making his first attempt.
Wo went up to the shrine that had been made by the worshipers and laid down his offering. He said the words that he had been practicing. Then he waited. Upon getting no response, Wo decided to leave, as he thought that the ‘sky llama’ was busy.
He tried again a few nights later, using a different offering and the same words. Again, he waited for a response. Usually the snail has the patience of a saint, but, since he was still grieving over the loss of his only friend in the castle, it was wearing very thin. Wo left after over an hour of waiting, taking the offering he had brought with him.
Another few nights went by before Wo had a third attempt at contacting Arceus. He didn’t bring an offering. Instead he only brought words. After reciting the same words of contact as before, Wo looked up at the stained glass depiction of the deity and said about how distraught and angry he was at being ignored in his time of need, especially after losing the scribe. After he spoke, he let the quietness take over for a few minutes before saying “Nothing? I thought so.” and turning around to leave... …but, instead of leaving, Wo proceeded to turn both the shrine to Arceus and the stained glass depiction into unrecognizable pieces with his grassy powers.
After leaving properly, the enraged snail went to the scribe’s room and locked himself in. There, he wrote the grudge he had against Arceus onto a blank tablet as he tried not to let too many angry tears fall onto it.
The next few days, Wo refused to leave the scribe’s room, even after the door was unlocked with the king’s master key. Wo refused to answer any questions about how the shrine to Arceus was destroyed, aside from the occasional very angry “Get out!”. The only one that could get any words out of him was Chien-Pao(Wo was still friends with the leopard at that time, as Pao wasn’t taken over by the souls that possessed the sword)…which the king put to good use after finding out how to do it.
Their conversations were lengthy when they got to meet and spend time together...but it didn’t last. As soon as Wo-Chien found out that Chien-Pao was being used by the king to get info out of him, he was quick to reject all of Pao’s conversation attempts, with another use of a very angry(and very tired) “Get out!”.
After he had rejected all conversation attempts from all sorts of outside sources - everyone from the servants to the religious residents, and from the higher-ups(who would demand that he talk to them) to Chien-Pao(who would show that he was worried about Wo-Chien when the king wasn’t looking his way) - Wo continued to isolate himself in the scribe’s room, using the items within as ways to comfort himself. He also ate the plants on the windowsill, as well as the plates of greens that got passed to him through a window in the door.
It was a time that Wo-Chien was feeling at his lowest, and, even though he would be able to recover from it, it would take a long while before he would’ve been able to pull himself up from the position that he lay in...
