I'm forced to listen to Christmas music all day at work, so here's a Last Christmas bowuigi idea for your enjoyment featuring everyone's favorite* trope: misunderstandings!

*(lol nope)

Bowser has unintentionally achieved "friendly rival" status, and is invited to a big lodge to go skiing and snowboarding for a week. He still feels awkward around everyone, but they're all pretty welcoming, and he's not even the only former antagonist invited. Still, he's not quite willing to mingle with the whole crowd, and finds himself spending more and more time with fellow wallflower Luigi.

Luigi is a good listener. So good, in fact, that Bowser finds himself opening up a lot more than he meant to. So good that even Bowser realizes he's been dominating all their conversations. By the end of the week he thinks they're getting along well enough that he might actually call Luigi a friend.

Then, on the last day, he gets a note from Luigi asking him to meet in private. He's happy to do it. Looking forward to it, even. Maybe he can make things more balanced between them by listening to whatever it is that's so important. It had to be preceded with a note.

Then Luigi confesses that he has feelings for him. And Bowser doesn't believe it.

He's certain that this is a prank, and furious that Luigi would toy around with him like that. So he tears into him, breaking down all the reasons he would never even consider a relationship with him. He gets mean. He gets personal.

By the end both of them are heartbroken and convinced they were wrong about each other.

A year passes. Bowser is still sort of kind of friends with the others, and still gets invited to things, but he doesn't talk to Luigi at all. Bowser doesn't know who else was in on the "prank," so he's back to being cautious about who to trust.

Luigi and Mario are close, but they don't tell each other everything about their dating lives, so Mario doesn't press when a depressed Luigi says he got rejected and he'll get over it eventually.

He does, mostly, but seeing Bowser doesn't help, especially since the crush never quite goes away. There's a part of him that knows - even if he thinks it'll never happen - that if Bowser changed his mind Luigi would jump at the chance.

Next winter there's another trip to the ski lodge, and Bowser is invited, and Luigi resolves to put it all behind him and move on. Ask someone else out. Someone... safe.

But Bowser sees that Luigi has his eye on somebody else, and all the anger he thought he'd gotten over rises up again. How dare he act like nothing happened? How dare he think he can just have a normal holiday fling, as if he didn't use that exact premise to shatter Bowser's heart last year?

So Bowser starts blatantly flirting with Luigi whenever they're in a group. Compliments, playful teasing, one or two double-entendres. Whenever Luigi tries to talk to Bowser alone, Bowser walks away and refuses to say a word, but the rest of the gang think that Bowser is Staking His Claim.

The plan works, and Luigi's hopes of a new relationship are dashed before they can really start. The worst part is that the first time it happened Luigi had almost fallen for it. If he hadn't seen the glare Bowser shot him when nobody was looking, he might have done something foolish. Like flirt back.

It's a week of torture, but finally on the last day Luigi manages to corner Bowser and confront him. Ask him why he's doing this, why he feels like he needs to ruin Luigi's chances.

"Are you kidding? After what you did to me last year? You think I'd just forget?" "What I did to you?" "You didn't think I fell for that, did you? I don't know if you were recording it or if someone was waiting to jump out and laugh at me, but-" "You thought it was a prank?" "Yes! ...wasn't it?"

It takes some time (and some more yelling) but eventually Bowser accepts that Luigi wasn't lying, and they both have to re-think the entire last year... as well as what they know about each other. Bowser realizing that he was right the first time about how nice Luigi is, and that he could have had something great if he hadn't jumped to conclusions. And Luigi realizing that if Bowser thought a genuine confession was a cruel joke he's probably not nearly as confident as he acts.

"Give me a second chance," Bowser blurts out. "You're interested? After everything you said about me last year?" "I was mad, I was ranting, I don't even remember what I said." "I do." "Give me... a third chance."

Luigi says he needs time, Bowser (reluctantly) says okay, but also says he will do anything to make it up to Luigi. Favors, public humiliation, anything.

"If you still think I'm the kind of person who wants you to publicly humiliate yourself, you really don't understand me at all."

Neither of them sleeps well. In the morning while everyone is packing up, Bowser sees Luigi step into a quiet corner with the person he'd been planning to confess to this year. He's practically steaming from jealousy, but Bowser forces himself to stay away. He's not going to get a fourth chance.

But as he's about to leave, Bowser is stopped by Luigi. He hands him a scrap of paper with his phone number, and beckons him closer.

"Kiss me." "You sure?" "My brother is watching. So is the princess. You know what it'll mean if you do it, so..."

Bowser doesn't have to be asked twice.

He does get punched thirty seconds in as soon as Mario puts everything together, but it's worth it.

"He's angry at me-"

"He's not angry at you, ma." Fez sighs, his hands reaching out to rest on my shoulders as he leans down to meet my gaze. His lips part to speak but another voice cuts him off.

"I'm angry at her!" A whine leaves my lips as I flop back into the couch dramatically, my hands reaching up to cover my face as frustrated tears rise to my lashes.

I knew that when we told Ash that we were pregnant that his response wouldn't be the best. He was extremely protective over me and has been since the moment Fez and I got together. It was safe to say he'd do anything for me to keep me safe and healthy and I've known for a while that he looks up to me as an older sister if not a mother figure in his life. He clung to me like a child clung to a parent, not so much physically but emotionally he relied on me for a lot, for things that he couldn't turn to anyone else for.

"He's being a dumbass- Ash! Get out here and apologize to her or else she's gonna keep fuckin' cryin, man." Fez huffs, his hands rubbing over the top of his head as he kneels down between my legs, hand reaching out to take mine in his.

Hearing loud stomps come from down the hall, I watch as Ashtray enters the room, a pout on his lips and his arms folded over his chest as he throws himself down onto the chair across from me.

"Apologize to Y/n." Fez asks, sitting down beside me as he wraps an arm around my shoulder, watching as Ash rolls his eyes, muttering out a quiet apology as sad tears stream down my cheeks.

"Ash you know that no matter what happens I'm always gonna love and protect you." I sniffle, brushing the tears from my cheeks as Fez's hand secures on my thigh. Ash's eyes dip lower, avoiding me as he lets out a grunt of acknowledgement. "Just think about it. You're gonna be an uncle to a little ass-kicker. Another little one to protect." A soft smile spreads across my lips at the thought of him interacting with mine and Fez's child, knowing that he would be an amazing uncle even though he's a bit rough around the edges.

Ash's face lightens a bit at my reassuring words, a small nod thrown my way as I relax, watching as his eyes flicker up to find mine. "Fine." He shrugs, pushing all jealousy and insecurity to the back of his mind as his shoulders relax.

"Get over here and give me a hug, asshole."

When I discovered that in your next comic the main character will be Dimentio and that he will suffer so much more than Luigi that you are going to make us feel sorry for him, I'm interested and scared.

This sociopathic clown is a manipulative person who will not hesitate to stab you in the back and make fun of you. Come to think of it, he's one of Mario's villains that's actually terrifying.

That’s just the fan interpretation of him. He’s canonically just a well spoken bum who probably came across Bleck’s newsletter that said “Hate how bad the world has become? Do you wish to change the world by any means necessary? Well join Team Bleck! Join us now and help us crest the. Chaos Heart to literally reshape the world!” And Dimentio was probably like “Aight, bet.” And when he joined he was like “Oh shit it’s REAL?” And did whatever he could to steal the heart for himself like Smeagle from Lord of the Rings.

He didn’t even know about needing Luigi until later in the game lol. He sucks at fighting and when his plan fails, he’s like “It was all according to plan!” When he’s crying on the inside like a little B-

Canon aside, yes, Dimentio will be my next angst victim hehehehe.

What is your thoughts on mario and luigi's family in the movie?

Yes, I absolutely loved them. I have literally so many thoughts about them, I hope you don't mind a few paragraphs!

First of all, their MOM??? I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what bliss...

She was so sweet and supportive, and not just with the Bros. We see her helping what I assume is her Dad(?) eat, because he can't do so on his own, and she just strikes me as the type of person who gives all they can for their family. She goes out of her way to encourage her boys, either with the plumbing business or otherwise.

As for the Dad, some interpreted him as kind of cold. And yeah, I guess, but he actually reminds me a lot of my mom. He clearly loves his boys, he was upset that they left a steady job because he didn't want them to fail. So yeah, he uses a bit of tough love on them (especially Mario), but that's not to say that he doesn't care. It doesn't discredit how Mario feels and interprets things, but I appreciated them making the Dad such an accurate example of parental miscommunication. In other words, I loved him as well.

Uncle Tony (Who I believe is the one with the afro?) strikes me as the Fun Uncle. He can get a bit exuberant, but he seems fun. Not much to say about the guy, just that I could vibe with him, but only for a short while. I feel like after too long his presence would get overwhelming.

Then we have Uncle Arthur. I'm assuming he's the one sitting across from Mario, along with his wife and their child. (I read in one place that the kid with the hat was a boy, and in another place that they were a girl, so I'm just gonna use they/them until I get confirmation. If anyone knows for sure, please tell me!)

First of all, can we talk about how he and Luigi look just alike? Like-

Look at him!! He looks so much like Luigi! We didn't hear much from Arthur, but he does seem to be a bit of a wise guy. Something about the way his wife smacked him after the "worst actors" comment makes me think he's a bit of a smartass, lol!

Speaking of his wife, I love her, but let's play a game called "guess which one married into the family", lol. Poor girl sticks out at that dinner table so much 😂

She is very pretty tho, and I wish we'd seen more of her. Same for their kid, they seem chill.

All in all, they seem like a loving family. Yeah, they pick on each other, but what family doesn't? It's obvious that they love one another so much, and I imagine stepping into their home would feel like walking into a warm hug. They just give me a very cozy feeling, and I honestly would have watched a movie just about them!

How do you think Bowser would react if Luigi started crying in the angst au? I can imagine it to be very unsettling.

unsettling could probably be the single descriptive word for this au lol. 'Creepy' might be the runner-up

but yes it would be very unsettling. As I said Bowser views Luigi's struggles as him just adjusting to his new life, and something that will pass with time. He doesn't want Luigi to be upset, so him crying I imagine would be something that Bowser is very reverent about. He would def do everything he thought was right to comfort Luigi like rubbing his back, rocking him, and saying things to make him hopeful (well, as hopeful as different iterations of "you'll get used to it" can sound anyway), and would speak very soft and gentle.

Bowuigi but everyone is Oblivious

Today is headcannon/random au day. mostly because I want a moment from phantom interferance. (also to make people suffer on the cliffhanger I made lmaoo)

Anyway, I typed out this idea over in the Bowuigi server but I figured I could share it on here too.

Most of the ideas for bowuigi are the two being oblivious to their own feelings, while everyone else knows and is just like “wow these idiots gay AND dumb”

but what if it was the opposite.

Bowuigi but the two absolutely know they like each other and go on dates and stuff and everyone else is like “nah their just friends lol”

Like, they do the cliche couples things like holding hands and sitting on park benches together and everyone else is just like “Their just doing friend things! there’s no romance there at all!”

the two just don’t realize no one knows and are like “wow their a lot more accepting of all this then I feared!” meanwhile everyone thinks their just friends.

Luigi just texts Mario that he’s going to stay with his boyfriend for the week and Mario, despite knowing that he’s been planning a trip to the Dark Lands, is all like “Wow I didn’t know he had a boyfriend. I’ll just wait until he’s comfortable to talk about it. Wonder if Bowser knew about this?”

Bowser kidnaps Peach to ask her what kind of dates/gifts Luigi likes and she’s just like “aww, he’s trying to be a matchmaker for his new friend!”

Toad just sees the two of them on a park bench kissing on valentines and is like “Mm yes. this is normal friend behavior”

Junior is the only one who realizes whats going on and is constantly annoyed that his siblings (and everyone else for that matter) won’t believe him.

E. Gadd possibly knows, since Luigi tells him a lot if stuff, but no one really talks to him and he’s too busy doing ghost research to say anything about it.

Anyway that’s pretty much the entirety of what I said on the server. enjoy my random brain thoughts XD

How would the DR69 cast and the DR96 cast interact? (I imagine Latte would pamper Parappa like she does with Kaidou)

I’ll throw a few ideas into the pot:

Latte starts a whole class with the teens (aka Miku, Teto, Ayano, Ashely, Parappa, Saiki, Kaidou, Hiroshi, Natsuki and Yuri). It’s semi chaotic because Teto keeps getting distracted and Kaidou keeps asking Latte random questions (some of them encourage it so they do less work lol)

The musical trio (Miku, Teto and 2D) try to recruit Retsuko after hearing her heavy metal, but she keeps trying to refuse knowing what happened the last time she got roped into a band

Bojack and Peter butt heads 70% of the time. Brian G. tries to befriend Bojack and that works 40% of the time (I feel like Bojack can see through Brian’s sophisticated persona, unless Brian starts complementing his acting then it’s all jover for his critical thinking)

Ashely tries to avoid Brian P. just because of his talent (she does not want to be ‘hunted’). But after some explaining, she realises he has no ill intent. Sometimes Ashely will talk to Brian about witch stuff even though Brian actually doesn’t want to (or know what’s being said half the time), but he supposes he doesn’t mind it

Jesse and Sans and Nagito all get along just because they all have hoodies. That’s it that’s how easy it is to please Jesse. Anyway Jesse tries to offer them cigarettes and things start to fall apart (or not. Your choice)

Teto and Natsuki are BFFLs. Natsuki finds it funny when Teto rants about the others, but they find comfort when talking about embarrassing topics like people they’re into (cough cough wink wink)

I feel like The Conductor would try and cast Bojack in a production, but upon seeing how agonising it is to work with him, he reconsiders how he even got given Ultimate Actor

Fluttershy would try taking care of Retsuko and Bojack too, but they refuse 9 times out of 10 out of embarrassment. It’s alright tho because Fluttershy is also invited to bake with Mai 👍

In my opinion, Mario and Kurumada would be the type to fight once and then become best buddies afterwards

Parappa joins Kaidou’s team and the chaos is upped. Kaidou calls him the ‘brawler’ because he can do karate. And yes this is where Latte would pamper him

Kaidou is deathly afraid of Nagito. Saiki does not trust being within 10 feet of that guy either.

Ayano can sense something strange with Yuri, but can’t quite put her finger on it. Cut to Yuri who’s trying her best to keep calm as this other high school girl is staring at her from afar with the most chilling stare (and then cut to behind Ayano where L is also staring at her because he totally knows she has killed someone or two).

Ena keeps calling Luigi ‘the green man’ (as well as an assortment of other nicknames) and it’s really starting to confuse him.

You didn’t hear it from me guys but. Hayasaka definitely doesn’t try and befriend Hatsune Miku his favourite virtual idol. And also adopts her and all the teens from DR69 too. Nope nadda nope

Alright, so imagine Reader was friends with I hate you Luigi and Mario. Reader was friends with the brothers before the events of I hate you (Where Luigi fell into lava and burned.) Even though everyone loved Mario Reader always preferred Luigi more. Luigi feels extremely grateful that at-least someone didn’t compare him to his brother and actually cared about him but this wasn’t enough for Luigi so he teamed up with Bowser without telling Reader. The events of I hate you happen and Mario comes back with Princess Peach. Reader is wondering where Luigi is. Reader asks Mario where Luigi was and Mario tells Reader that it’s best if they don’t know. Which leaves Reader even more confused and is now worried that something happened to their friend Luigi.

(You can decide if Reader and IHY Luigi get to see each other again.)

Honestly ever since I’ve started playing any sort of Mario games I’ve always had a preference over Luigi rather than Mario (Although I love Mario just as much). If Luigi was a playable character I would always choose him that’s how much I love him (Thanks for the photos as well).

- The Mario bros. Everyone knows them and everyone loves them, especially you. You pretty much had the luck of getting to know the brothers and eventually became friends with them. Honestly you admire the two especially the taller brother Luigi however you seemed to notice that people had more of a preference over Mario practically ignoring his younger brother presence. But you didn’t pay much attention to them and mostly focused your attention on him.

- Honestly when Luigi saw how much attention his brother was getting compared to him it really hurt him. Why weren’t people praising him? He helped as well, why didn't he get the recognition as well? What did Mario have that he didn’t? They were practically the same. All those questions were running through his mind but before they got too extreme they managed to get cut off by you. The only person who seemed to acknowledge his skills. That was the only reason he had to keep going despite what was going on. Being around you was the only reason he didn’t snap and do whatever at least for now.

- You had no idea about how he was feeling about the whole ordeal with his brother, mostly because he didn’t express them to you. Why didn’t he do it? You honestly had no idea but you definitely would’ve assumed he was at least a little bit upset. I mean who wouldn’t. But when you try to see what was matter he just played his emotions off to a recent adventure he had. But regardless of the reason you made sure to cheer him up which he appreciates. But eventually although he does get noticed by you he got tired of being in Mario’s shadow and decided to risk it and join the bad guy himself Bowser.

- He didn’t tell pretty much anyone that he joined bowser because obviously he doesn’t think that people would care enough about him so why should he care but when it came to you he mostly didn’t tell you out of guilt. I mean he’s only doing this to get the recognition that he wants just like his brother but he’s getting some from you so why wasn’t it enough for him? He just wants to be loved by people even if it means that he has to join the bad guy he and his own brother have fought the princess for. What was personally to him the hardest part about this wasn’t how his brother may feel about this, he was sort of the reason why he was in this situation to begin with even if he wasn’t aware of it. He was more worried about your reaction to it. He was thinking things like ‘she’s been there for me when I’ve felt down’ and ‘they’re been treating me the way I wanted so why isn't it enough?’. Honestly deep down he knows that this may be wrong but he feels as if he doesn’t have a choice. If he wants to be seen just like Mario then he’ll have to be the bad guy even if it means he has to hurt people that deeply care about him.

- Eventually though everyone does have a reaching point that causes them to snap and unfortunately it happened to Luigi. One day it was a regular adventure for Mario, focusing on rescuing Peach once again from Bowser’s grasp but today was different. Once he arrived at the castle she was trapped in but instead of being confronted by him he was confronted by his own brother which ended up turning into a fight and ended in the younger brother being burnt to death in the lava he was knocked into. Mario didn’t want to do it and he didn’t mean to; he just needed to defend himself but ended up killing his own brother in the process. Although he was betrayed by his brother and had the right to feel angry at him. All he could feel was upset about what happened and how it had to end. Despite the reasons for why Luigi decided join bowser he was regardless his brother he cared for, after wiping the tears that were rolling down his cheeks as he witnessed his brother being engulfed by the lava he had no choice but to go on and accept the fact that he killed Luigi roam his mind for the rest of the time he will be alive for. Eventually Peach noticed the sadness that appeared in Mario and he had no choice but to tell her what happened and of course she was upset as well. She pretty much has known Luigi as long as she did with Mario so this came to a surprise for her as well. All she could do was cry herself with her head in her hands as Mario just stood there starting to cry again himself before the both of them returned back to her castle.

- Mario knew that he should tell you about what happened to Luigi. He noticed that you happened to be closer towards his younger brother compared to him and honestly he didn’t mind it, he was just glad that Luigi had someone to rely on but now that he was dead you had the right to know but he just couldn’t. He knows he should but he just couldn’t.

+ You were made aware of Mario needing to rescue Peach again and assumed that Luigi would be joining him as well. How many times will it take for Bowser to get the hint and leave them alone? After wishing him good luck you had no choice but to wait patiently knowing that Mario would win once again and you were right but unfortunately you would learn some unfortunate news, well sort of. As you heard Mario and Peach return you immediately went up and greeted them however you quickly noticed something. They both seemed upset about something but what was it? Then you noticed something else “where’s Luigi?” You managed to speak up wanting to know what happened to your friend but you met with silence which only worried you more “I’m sorry [Name] I can’t say” Mario somehow managed to say while choking back some tears before leaving you alone with Peach who herself was holding back tears. You couldn’t understand what caused the two of them to be this upset. Obviously something must have happened to him but why weren’t they telling you? You started to get slightly pissed but not outright and also upset. Even Peach herself asked Mario “Mario you should tell her you know” she said, she understands how you feel she also happened to be close towards Luigi as well. She really thinks that Mario should at least hint at what happened to Luigi “I’m sorry Peach but I can’t tell her, I just can’t.” Mario replied back “I know it must be hard to comprehend and it’s not your fault but they deserved to know what happened to him. They’re the closest to him out of all of us.” Peach reassured him but Mario couldn’t say anything else. She has a point and he knows that but why couldn’t he do it? But after much bugging and not receiving an answer you had no choice but to give up. Pretty much accepting that he’s missing and that you might not see him again.

- It definitely felt weird not having Luigi around. He was actually really nice to be around, especially you. You don’t understand what could’ve happened to him. Even if wasn’t recognised widely still you didn’t understand who would have an outing for him. You ended up excluding yourself from others minus Mario and Peach but even then you didn’t see them much.

- But even with the thought that he was missing you just couldn’t shake it off that he was somehow alive. You know him too well although a bit reclusive himself he wouldn’t just die, he would keep up a fight even if it takes some encouragement for him to do so. So you decided to try to at least find him even if by the time you found him he was actually dead. You decided to go to the last place Mario was and it just so happened to be where Peach was last captured and went there without letting Mario or Peach know where you were going. Although it was a little nerve wrecking going out alone, you decided to risk it if it meant that you could see your friend again.

+ After some time you managed to arrive at the castle and entered it. You felt a cold wave of air flow right past you immediately sending a shiver down your spine. “It’s really quiet here…” you said to yourself. Although this place had no reason to have anything in it you would’ve at least expected to hear some boo’s at least. You managed to arrive in a room and the cold was immediately replaced with heat. You looked down to see lava and immediately cautioned yourself to be careful unless you wanted to fall into it, as you kept walking you saw some sort of being not that far in front of you. Although you were happy that at least someone else was here you still needed to be careful of yourself. Little did you know that the man in front of you was Luigi himself.

+ Ever since his death Luigi had pretty much been forced to stay in the castle that he last saw his brother and pretty much everyone else. All that he could feel was anger and hurt. Anger that he managed to get beaten by his brother and of course hurt because he literally got burned to death. But he also felt lonely. He didn’t want to feel this but since it was just him eventually he was going to start feeling it at some point. All he could do was get lost in his thoughts about things that happened before his inevitable demise. But he was snapped out of his thoughts by something or rather someone. He heard something and immediately assumed the worst. Maybe it was his brother wanting more or maybe trying to convince him that he didn’t mean to throw him into the lava. He could already feel himself getting angry again. He wanted to yell at someone for what happened to him. Blaming anyone for the reason he ended up like this, he stood up causing the person which ended up being you to freeze. He started preparing to send them away but as soon as he took in the moment to process who was in the same room as him he immediately froze himself. Unless he was hallucinating you were right in front of him. “[Name], is that you?” He spoke up in shock.

+ At first you couldn’t recognise him, I mean yeah it sounded like him although a little groggily and yes he was wearing his clothes although they had some holes in them but it was kind of hard to piece that it was him due to him being pretty much burnt to no recognition. If it wasn’t for him calling your name you wouldn’t have known it was him. “[Name], please tell me that it’s you?” He said once again just wanting a sign that it was actually you and that he wasn’t seeing things. “Yeah it is..” you managed to speak up but slightly teary “Luigi, what the hell happened to you?” You quietly spoke, it hurt seeing him like this. His skin had practically melted off. He changed physically that it felt weird seeing him. He wasn’t able to say something, he wanted to but he was starting to get caught up in his emotions. As much as he hated everyone he couldn’t find himself to hate you. In reality he knew he couldn’t hate you. You were his only friend all this time, even now although it took a while you eventually found him again which proved that you still cared about him. He walked up closer to you slightly limping before bringing you into a hug. At first it felt weird hugging him, his body felt oddly leathery. You managed to hug him back before hearing a slight whimpering coming from him. Before you knew it you started to hear him cry. “…[Name]” All he could say through his tears was your name causing you to tear up yourself. He didn’t care that he felt slight pain due to his burnt skin being touched by you. All he cared about was just being in your arms after being lonely for so long. You could feel your heart breaking hearing Luigi cry, although you’ve seen him upset you haven’t seen him this upset and actually crying right in front of you. You tried to move slightly so you could look at him directly but he quickly tightened the hug not wanting you to move. “…please, please don’t leave me [Name]…” he said in between his sobs thinking that you were trying to leave. You decided to save your questions for later, you could tell he needed this even though you had no idea what happened between his demise and now so you let him cry his heart out until he was ready to tell you what happened. For now you and ended in a tight felt hug not letting go until the both of you got your feelings out and managed to catch up with each other.

This is probably starting to get annoying, but here are a few more scattered, silly thoughts about the mario movie. :)

(Did I go see the movie again for the 4th time in theaters last night? YES. Is that an excessive amount of times? YES. Have I spent a ridiculous amount of money at this point? YES. Do I have any regrets? NOT EVEN THE TINIEST BIT, NO.)

Trust me, I would be totally honest if I was starting to get bored, but I'm really, really not??? I had a really tough, busy week and I just wanted to be able to relax and have a good time and it was delightful as always!!! I left feeling so much happier. I'm already thinking about going to see it next week again! No one and nothing can stop me!!!! Other than possibly my bank account, LOL.

Obviously the reunion hug takes the lion's share of the focus, but I just want to express my undying love that Luigi and Mario share MULTIPLE hugs before we even get there, and that's not even counting moments at the beginning and the end where they have an arm around each other in kind of a half-hug! They are wonderfully, unabashedly affectionate and it's the best thing in the world!!!

As much as the family is teasing Mario & Luigi about their commercial, I DO appreciate that after their dad's insensitive comment and Mario leaves the table, all the adults genuinely look a little taken aback and stare at the dad (except the grandpa who is in his own little world lol) as if to say Wow, Not Cool. Like, it seems like saying something like that would even be a step too far for the uncles! I just like that there's subtlety and layers to the family stuff, and no one is portrayed as being 100% a jerk (even if some of them have some jerk-ish qualities like the guy stealing food from poor Luigi XD)

ALSO: in fanworks, I've seen several people allude to the bedroom Mario's shown in as being only his bedroom - I was watching those scenes closely this time just to confirm to myself (because I'm annoying about being as accurate as possible, haha), and it's DEFINITELY both his and Luigi's room! It goes by quick, but you can see another bed with green sheets in the far corner of the room clearly in at least one shot, both in the Brooklyn version and in the Mushroom Kingdom version. For some reason, it just tickles me that it's SUCH a small little inclusion and not really necessary, they could have just left it ambiguous whether they actually share a room or not, but nope, that detail is there if you are looking for it! :)

Y'know, even when Mario is dragging Luigi into a dangerous situation and jumping down through what is essentially a WHIRLPOOL into the sewers, he STILL stands at the bottom and waits/watches to see that Luigi makes it down safely after him before moving forward. OVERALL A SILLY THING TO DO but, as he always does when it comes to Luigi, Mario has those extra moments of care and attention. :)

Peach going on and on about how small Mario is will always just make me smile, I'm sorry XD IT'S TRUE (and I love how he's just like "yeah, yeah, make fun of me if you want" and moves on to the important stuff without actually getting mad, it's clear he's heard it all before)

I JUST LOVE MARIO IN GENERAL. I LOVE HIM IN THIS MOVIE???? I LOVE HIM, ALL HIS LITTLE MOVEMENTS AND MANNERISMS. HE IS JUST THE SWEETEST, BRAVEST LITTLE MAN AND HE DESERVES MORE APPRECIATION

I might make a separate appreciation post but here is a shortlist of little things I love: his little "I don't want to eat this" wiggle-dance when first trying to eat the mushroom, the bashful way he kicks up his feet and holds his hands behind him when he's standing next to Peach in the Flower Fields, the way he just cutely, awkwardly WAVES HELLO at everyone wherever he goes (in Toad Town, through the crowd as they're leaving the castle, even to the Kong Guards), how he's genuinely excited to see Donkey Kong's kart for a split second before DK's "I hate you" comment, how he saves DK in the water with NO hesitation at the risk of his own life because he is just a deeply good person, etc etc etc.

As much as I deeply wish that this movie had an actual scene where Mario gets to talk more about Luigi to his new friends and the dialogue wasn't always operating at Maximum Efficiency, I DO appreciate that there are still those couple of beats where you are explicitly reminded that Mario is doing this, ALL of this, for Luigi's sake and only that. The one that got to me this time is when Peach and him have that sidebar before the DK fight where she's like "this is a REALLY bad idea" and his retort is: "well, do you have another way to save my brother!?" And then you see him go on a little face journey where he's calculating things before agreeing to the fight and proclaiming that yes, he WILL win. BECAUSE HE WILL DO ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING FOR HIS BROTHER AND IF THE ONLY WAY TO REACH HIM IS TO FIGHT AND WIN, EVEN IF NO ONE BELIEVES IN HIS ABILITY TO DO SO, THEN BY GOD, HE'S DOING IT. ANOTHER REASON THAT I LOVE HIM!!

The aesthetic of the shattered Rainbow Road pieces glowing in the ocean around DK and Mario (and then inside the eel) is genuinely very beautiful and I always love the effect of it!

I'M SORRY, I CAN ALSO BE VERY CRITICAL OF THIS MOVIE IF I WANT TO, BUT HOW COULD ANYONE - ANYONE - WATCH MARIO AND LUIGI WREAK ABSOLUTE HAVOC AND DESTROY BOWSER IN PERFECT, EFFORTLESS UNISON WITH THE SUPERSTARS MUSIC PLAYING AND NOT FEEL ABSOLUTE JOY??? That sequence is actually perfect, and the music is even MORE perfect. Every time, I hear it, I feel exhilarated and light as air and like anything is possible! HOW COULD YOU NOT THINK IT'S MAGICAL??? HOW??? [STANDS ON TOP OF A MOUNTAIN AND YELLS] HOW????????

Something that I have never noticed until this last rewatch and caught me genuinely offguard is that when Bowser's in the jar and Mario makes the "told ya I'd get you a turtle!" comment to Peach, if you're paying attention to Bowser, he actually does a "hardy-har-har VERY FUNNY" fake laugh as he's being all pouty, and I laughed outloud at that.

ALSO IN GENERAL, I AM SO PROUD OF THIS VERSION OF THE CHARACTERS AND THEIR WILLINGNESS TO PUT BOWSER IN ACTUAL JAIL!!!! HE DESERVES JAIL!!!! Like, I get that we're all very sweet and forgiving here and he's usually allowed to just slink away in most of the games, but seriously, HE COMMITTED VARIOUS WAR CRIMES FOR INCREDIBLY STUPID REASONS, THANK U FOR PUTTING HIM IN JAIL

The last scene with Luigi and Mario doing their handshake and then Luigi just full-on playfully poking Mario in the belly before running off is the CUTEST thing and also has the most Younger Sibling Energy of basically anything in the movie, lol. He also does it to him in the opening scene! I loveeeee ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Just watched the Nintendo Direct.

Mario fans eating good!

Super Mario RPG: yes please. It has been such a long time since I've watched anything related to it I forgot how it plays out, lol. I found out about it more than ten years after it came out, but I remember watching gameplays of it and reading fan comics back then.

Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door: same as before, but I've only watched sparse gameplay of it. I should get back to watch an entire gameplay. Anyway, I remember being obsessed with Vivian and Doopliss because spooky ghosts, lol.

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon: my absolute beloved. Saying I've completed it 100 times is sayin too little, lol. Happy to see a revamped verion!

Princess Peach Showtime: I loved Super Princess Peach back when it came out. Peach saving Mario for once was such a surprise. I'm very curious about how things will play out in this one. After Rayman in the Phantom Show another game set in a show/theater is very welcome!

"You are doing that thing again." Pietro chuckles under his breath, leaning towards me as the rest of the party goes on around us. His fingers brush against mine as a small smirk stretches across his lips, his drunk lifting to his lips so he can take a sip.

"What thing?" I quiz, neck craning to look up him as his arm reaches to wrap around my waist, pulling me flush against his side.

"You were staring." Pietro laughs loudly, butterflies erupting in my belly at the sight of his grin, his eyes flickering to rake down my frame. "This whole 'secret dating thing' will not work if you keep staring."

"You're insufferable." I whisper, turning around in his grasp to lean against the table behind him, his jaw tensing briefly.

"You find my insufferable-ness adorable." He whispers, leaning towards me to rest his chin on my shoulder and suddenly I'm breathing in his cologne, my thoughts blurring momentarily. I almost miss the mark for a comedic remark but I manage to tear my gaze away from his, my whole body warming at his proximity.

"Keep telling yourself that." I whisper, taking the drink from his hands to take a hefty swig. He pouts boyishly and his hair falls in his face.

"You are mean, you know that? Meaner than Wanda." He huffs, fingers rubbing into the exposed skin of my hip as a loud laugh leaves me.

"It's your sisters job to be mean to you, Pietro."

"What is your job then, hmm?" He asks, eyes glimmering with mischief as I gulp, intimidated by the hardened gaze in his eyes. His eyes are full of adoration and mischief, his pout only lasting so long until his typical smirk takes over.

"Keeping you in line."

"How do you plan to do that?" He asks, lips dangerously close to mine and I press a finger into his chest, forcing him to put some distance between the two of us, my eyes quickly flickering around the room. When I find that no one seems to be particularly fixated on us, I allow him to inch closer once more.

"Practice makes perfect." He steals a brief kiss before saluting me, throwing a wink over his shoulder as he waves me on towards the elevators.

"Yes ma'am."
