Review of drama:
Ok so it was very very interesting. /gen I'm not joking. In the beginning, I definitely got like lost tomb vibes but after some time and thought, I realized, I shouldn't compare the two. There many differences, including the appearance of supernatural beings. Also no cute gay moments between any characters so that was a shame. It was a lot more subtle or at least more natural seeming creatures in lost tomb while candle in the tomb did not hold back. I really enjoyed it and literally breezed through it. No regrets and I shall go on to the second season! (which will also have a whump list) (coming soon to theaters near you!) I hope you enjoy! It's a great show.

I’d like to point out in this scene:
WORST BESTIES EVER SHAO FEI & ZHAO ZI - Zhao Zi would rather eat with Jack than go rescue Shao Fei from the mountains, and Shao Fei would rather let Jack kidnap Zhao Zi than do anything about it
Tang Yi smiling and laughing so hard even though he, Shao Fei and Jack were about to go to blows earlier?!!!
Tang Yi and Shao Fei looking on like proud parents
And finally: ZHAO ZI WHAT ARE YOU SAYING YOU ARE THE FUCKING POLICE

2 hours till my exam & i’m still here thinking about trapped lol (this time Jack/ZZ)....
(srsly if the exam was ‘describe and analyse the main characters of trapped in great detail’ i’d ACE it...)
i feel like i haven’t really talked a lot about these 2, mainly cos i wasn’t really sure if i really liked the idea of their relationship throughout the first half of the series... a big part of this was because we never really got an insight into who jack was, so i never really trusted him or his feelings for zhao zi that much...
but after the last couple of eps i’ve really grown fond of them & their dynamic tbh? like i feel jack really genuinely cares about zhao zi a lot, which i think even surprises him somewhat (i think he’s so used to being the cool and collected mercenary that he kinda jumped at the opportunity to be anything else (sweet & caring), which is perhaps why he was a lil aggressive with his confession to zhao zi). much like tang yi, his line of work hasn’t really allowed him the privilege of a loving relationship... i feel like even with the reveal that he was a double agent (kinda? not really? he was working for the interpol people or something lol idk), you see him go to zhao zi, wait for him for god knows how long, in the hope he’ll get an answer... like he’s fully aware of who he is & what he does for a living, but he’s fallen head over heals for zhao zi & can’t help himself from at least getting one last meeting together...
at first i wasn’t sure if i really believed zhao zi would fall in love with him, if i’m being honest... like yeh, zhao zi def finds him attractive & likes that he feeds him & takes care of him, but apart from that i was like ‘is that it??’ but like i feel like after the last episode we see why zhao zi really values jack being around... he says how it was nice to come home to someone after living alone for so long after his grandma died, coming home to someone who listens to & talks to him (cos it kinda seems he only really has the police squad as his friends, & i feel like esp recently, shao fei has been caught up in the whole tang yi debacle so he hasn’t really had someone to talk with casually... & i know this doesn’t mean people end up falling for anyone who gives them any amount of affection (cos like we’d all have a million wives or husbands by this point lol), but i feel like it makes more sense that he sees a genuine friend in jack, someone who will laugh with him & just generally talk... & i feel i definitely see why zhao zi would fall for him, though i am intrigued how he’ll react when he learns he worked with interpol & may potentially betray tang yi??
basically::: they’re really goddamn cute & i’m sorry it took me so long to like them, jack/zz stans plz forgive me lol

Hi everyone, did ya miss me? Haha It's been a few days since I last posted WoH commentary, but I'm back.
Today we're starting with A-Xiang and Cao Wei Ning. I feel like a hypocrite for complaining about others not hyping up this queen more while I myself am doing the same. >.< But yo, just wanted to check in and say that these two are adorable. Wei Ning is the cutest and sweetest. I'm excited to see his actor (Ma Wenyuan) in Chong Zi as well. I swear everyone is going to be in this new drama!
Tumblr media
Also, the tender hand-holding. Ahh! 😍
Tumblr media
Ahh, yes, this part.
'I am counting down the episodes until I see this scene,' I said.
'I will scream!!' I said.
Tumblr media
But did I scream? No.
It happened like in the blink of an eye and then your homegirl grew sad because bitch ass Zhao Jing slapped my baby. 😭
Tumblr media
This toxic relationship just went one step further into one of abuse. Xie'er deserves so much better! I'm glad he yelled at ZJ and finally stood up for himself.
(But honestly, why does Li Daikun have to be so damn sexy?? Not just that, he is such a talented actor and I look forward to seeing more of his works. Also, super excited for his monologue in episode 34. I actually already saw it, but it'll be nice to see it on my big TV screen rather than my phone.)
----
Now we transition to this scene. The more I thought about it, the more I thought about Mean Girls. Lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I first saw this scene, I was like, 'Bro, chill, that's your cousin' and it ultimately made me think of Karen. So now I say, 'Karen, calm down, he's your cousin.' And I can just envision Prince Jin replying like so:
Tumblr media
Hahahahaha 😂
----
Now onto the main bros.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I heard about this part and I finally saw it for myself. The gentleness Wen KeXing put into placing the hair piece, HIS hair piece, in Zhou Zishu's hair. 🥺 Such a sweet, tender moment for these boys. 💕
----
More Wen KeXing love. And Xie'er love too.
Tumblr media
My baby boys be plotting. Hee hee 🤭
Alrighty, that's it. Until next time!

Back, finally, with Word of Honor, Episode 11, which involved a lot of waving my hands around over precious button Zhang Chengling and his concern about whatever ridiculous argument between his Murder Dads left his shifu in a snit and must be solved right this minute. I really think if he could’ve just pushed their heads together like two Ken dolls to make them kiss and make up, he would have. Didi, I could eat you up with a spoon, although not in the creepy way that Du Pusa threatens. I promise.
First, though, due diligence: Spoilers, possibly likely for the entire show, not just this ep, so scroll away and come back later if you are still, at this point in the game, trying to watch the whole 36.5 eps unspoiled. Also, this is hella long. Strap in. Hashtag long post (remorseful).
First thing I actually want to do is point out a couple of scenes that I found particularly striking for various reasons. The first one is not quite the opening scene - which is super-brief and involves Yueyang’s prep for the Heroes Conference, Gao Shan (AKA Chengling’s bully-in-chief) being smug about Yueyang’s upcoming ascendance (oh boy, are you in for a surprise, you little schmuck), and Gao Chong’s extreme weariness at the idea of Yueyang’s upcoming ascendance. Gao Chong is very tired, y’all. It’s been a long 20 years. There’s also a ginormous sword on display, like Yueyang is now having a dick-measuring contest with who they think is the disciple of the Changming Sword Immortal (and oh boy, are you guys in for another surprise. I’m not sure what part of “immortal” y’all don’t understand). But I digress - as I said, this is a very brief scene, and then we cut back to Luo Mansion, where we left Ghost Valley and Lunatic Wen at the end of the last ep. Everyone is gone except for Wen Kexing, who’s still plotting, Beauty Ghost, who’s trying to stay tf out of this current shitshow as much as possible (good luck with that), and Tragicomic Ghost, who is totally and completely Done With This Shit. She berates WKX for acting crazy, he gets snappy back – I feel like their relationship is maybe a little bit fraught at this point – and Beauty Ghost attempts to soothe the waters, leading to an eyeroll from Tragicomic Ghost with a directive to stand the hell up and stop being scared of this idiot child throwing his weight around. WKX dismisses Tragicomic Ghost so he can plan a Very Secret Mission for Beauty Ghost in secret. WKX is … he is super-tired at this point. Painfully, achingly tired. I would almost say weary. We can see it in Gong Jun’s face. It’s a nice subtle bit of acting, and it definitely says something about WKX’s relationship with these women that he’s willing and able to show it in front of them, even as he’s still throwing his weight around.
Anyway, Liu Qianqiao proves her smarts by showing her hand just enough for WKX and us to see that she’s seen through the Lunatic Wen act to the utility of chokin’ out a dude as a warning, to try keeping Changing Ghost in line (good luck with that), but she also assures all of us that she only wants to serve the Ghost Valley Master and has no agenda of her own. WKX assures her that he has everything under control (Uh … huh. OK, my dude) and tells her he has a task for her, before detouring into a quiz about her disguise technique (learned from Qin Huaizhang, Zhou Zishu’s shifu at Siji Manor, and this is probably a tipoff that the Very Secret Mission will involve disguising herself), about Siji Manor, and about why she never visited there. We get some interesting vague hints about her past, including the fact that she met Qin Huaizhang when she was “little” and he took pity on her “disfigurement,” according to both the Youku and Netflix English subs. @coralcoloratura pulled out 童年时 (tóngnián shí) from the Chinese subs for me, which does mean “childhood.” Given that the going story is Yu Qiufeng’s wife threw acid in LQQ’s face over their affair, this opens up some questions about how old LQQ actually was when all that happened. Viki subs, per @janedrewfinally, add that she says she treated Qin Huaizhang to a meal, so she couldn’t have been too young. But Qin Huaizhang dies when ZZS is just 16, and LQQ can’t be any older than ZZS, and is likely younger (good lord, I just checked actor ages, and Ke Naiyu is 7 years younger than ZZH, so that’s probably not a good age gap to port over to the show, because just. No.). All this leads me to place LQQ at somewhere between Zhang Chengling’s age and Gu Xiang’s age (at most) when this whole tragic backstory happened, which is still pretty freakin’ young, and I can see why she would consider herself a child, at least metaphorically, in terms of naïvete, if not literally. I don’t know how much exploration has been done about this, on the fannish side of things, but it seems like an area rich for exploration. Also, I CANNOT TELL YOU how much I now want to read the AU of WKX and LQQ both actually being brought to Siji Manor at various times by Qin Huaizhang and staying there. I suspect that with those two shidi backing him, ZZS might never have had to go to Prince Jin in the first place. (Clearly this makes some things problematic, including A-Xiang, but I keep thinking about ZZS, WKX and LQQ growing up together … And anyway, I’m ALSO willing to read the AU(s) where WKX’s storyline stays the same, but LQQ does come to Siji Manor – both the AU where she and ZZS together manage to save the sect, and the AU where she goes with them to Jin, and the kind of weapon she could be for ZZS there, as he runs Tian Chuang. Who’s writing all this? Anyone? Anyone?) Anyway, when WKX asks why she didn’t visit Siji Manor, LQQ tells WKX that she’s a ghost now and doesn’t want to think about the living world anymore, which is probably a way of saying she wishes she had gone there and doesn’t want to talk about her many and varied bad decisions back in the day; it also acts as an unknowing reinforcement of that bright line WKX is desperately trying to maintain for himself between the world of ghosts and the world of humans. Plus it gives him the chance to speak the very portentous line that “Yes, we’re ghosts, and ghosts disappear in the light,” pulling the theme of light back in, again and giving us all kinds of foreshadowing. Cut away as he leans in to whisper her mission to her.
The other really striking scene, for me, happens near the end of the ep, when Gao Chong visits the shrine room, with the memorial tablets of his various brothers and friends. This hit me not just because of Hei Zi’s acting (which is great, don’t get me wrong) but also because this is a scene that reflects both backward and forward in the show - back to ZZS in Ep 1 and forward to the two scenes that Zhao Jing will have in this same room – as well as giving us all sorts of subtle clues about relationships throughout the show. So first of all, we see, in a shot that will mean more the deeper we get into the show, tablets for Zhen Ruyu and Gu Miaomiao (or, “his wife,” as the Youku subs call her, and this is me, rolling my eyes), who were apparently close enough to Gao Chong that he keeps memorial tablets for them on his home altar - which helps explain why WKX is so incensed that none of these Five Lakes Alliance assholes helped his parents when they were turned out of the Healer’s Valley, although that’s not something we would have known yet on a first watch through the show. Gao Chong lights some incense and apologizes to the tablet of Zhang Yusen for letting Zhang Chengling get kidnapped. He talks about waiting 20 years to learn the truth – which is kind of cryptic, but probably means the truth about who poisoned his sword before the spar with Rong Xuan, which we hear about in a later scene this ep – and gets a little bit salty about the fact that it doesn’t matter if everyone else doesn’t believe him, but why didn’t Zhang Yusen believe him? Again, I’m assuming this is about Gao Chong’s protestations that he’s not the one who put poison on his sword. We also learn in this same ep – from Chengling – that Zhang Yusen’s break with the Five Lakes Alliance seems to have at least started that far back, and that Yusen would have been at Mount Qingya to stand with Rong Xuan against his other Alliance brothers, if Yusen’s shifu hadn’t broken his legs so that he couldn’t travel there. (Yusen clearly had some strong feelings about this, if that’s what it took to get him to sit still for it. Also, it makes me wonder how Ye Baiyi’s feelings about Chengling might change if he ever learned that Chengling’s father intended to defend and stand with a guy who Ye Baiyi considered his own child, as well as his disciple.)
Gao Chong then proceeds to have a little crisis of faith – he’s very tired, y’all, it’s been a long 20 years – and talks about how no one understands him, and he’s old, and everyone’s dead. He also yells at Rong Xuan’s tablet, calling Rong Xuan da-ge but also saying he’s sorry he ever met him, but then there’s this brief little moment after, when he seems a little bit shocked at himself for saying it out loud, which reminds me, honestly, of the moment in CQL (we’ve all seen The Untamed, right, I don’t have to put spoiler warnings for it, right?) when Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are in the Yunmeng Jiang memorial hall and Wei Wuxian talks about Yu Ziyuan’s punishments back in the day, then pats his own mouth and says “My fault, my fault, my fault” before bowing to her tablet. Like, yes, their relationship was multiple levels of fucked-up, and his reaction is not out of place given some of his continuing neuroses, but also, this is just not a thing you do, speaking ill of the dead to their faces. I’m sure Gao Chong does regret ever meeting Rong Xuan, and the way that led to the building of the Armory and the Five Lakes Alliance to guard it, and the position that ultimately put Gao Chong in - not to mention that if he never met Rong Xuan he never would have accidentally killed him. But you can’t say things like that OUT LOUD to the MEMORIAL TABLET. Then contrast this to Zhao Jing, who literally takes a piss on the tablet in one of the later episodes. Because he’s the worst. And THEN, Gao Chong kneels and talks to the tablets of Zhang Yusen and Lu Taichong, his dead Five Lakes Alliance brothers, saying they must have met again in the netherworld, and that they’re probably swearing about him right now, and this is the point when I sit straight up and exclaim, out loud, “Fuck. Me. This is Zhou Zishu’s breakdown at the mirror in Episode 1.” When he talks to Jiuxiao about how Jiuxiao and Jing’An must have met again in the afterlife by now and are probably discussing what an awful shixiong ZZS is, right? And then Gao Chong even laughs bitterly like ZZS, and cries like ZZS, and I just. OK. FINE, show. I’ll try to go a little easier on Gao Chong, because you’re clearly linking him to ZZS, here, and I’m willing to forgive ZZS for anything. I suppose I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t try to extend just a little bit of the same grace to Gao Chong.
So, that’s a lot of verbiage, and I haven’t even gotten to Wenzhou yet, but trust me, I have some things to say about them. While WKX has been terrorizing the troops, ZZS left Han Ying’s place and immediately started drinking again, because that continues to be the best way – in combo with his Nails – he knows to kill himself by increments, but so sad, he’s run out of wine as he wanders the marketplace, alone and zhiji-less. Inside Yueyang, Chengling finds a note purporting to be from “Xu,” instructing him to meet at the North Gate that night, and like the little idiot they keep calling him (he really is too pure for this world), he takes it at face value. On his way that night, he runs into Gao Shan, who inadvertently almost saves him by interrupting his sneaking around to try to bully him back to his room. Something something food as bonding, because the lie Zhang Chengling comes up with is that he’s hungry (he’s not eating Yueyang’s food, and it’s not nourishing him), and he’s on his way to find something to eat (because he and his Murder Dads are in a mutually nourishing relationship, and that’s who he wants to be with). Also, no, he would prefer going to find something to eat for himself and not eating whatever Gao Shan will bring back to Chengling’s room. (A little bit, I’m sad there’s never any place to fit in some canon-complicit long-form enemies to failboats to lovers fic for these two. I have to admit, I would read it. Someone should do something with the tension between them, although I don’t really want it to be anything that will make Best Boy permanently sad.) Anyway, A-Xiang shows up just as Gao Shan is about to frog-march Chengling back to his room, and Gao Shan never sees her coming before he’s knocked out on the ground. A-Xiang is confused about the note but nevertheless helps Chengling get to where he’s supposed to meet “Xu,” whereupon she gets beat up and gets her didi took by the Scorpions. (There’s an interesting moment here where Pretty Arhat is fighting with A-Xiang and asks what her relationship is to Beauty Ghost, which whaaaaaat? THERE’S some backstory I need more on. I’m assuming this is based on A-Xiang’s hand-to-hand fighting style, which I think is the only thing Pretty Arhat has seen at this point, and exactly WHEN has she gotten so familiar with Beauty Ghost’s fighting style? Also, I like the apparent nod to Beauty Ghost’s influence in raising A-Xiang (and we’ll see more of this).) Meanwhile, ZZS has been inexorably drawn to the place he left his child disciple child and is moping right outside of Yueyang, so he sees Pretty Arhat fly away with Chengling. Murder Dad 1 springs into action.
Yueyang disciples run around like ants whose hill has been kicked over, looking for Chengling in town, and two of them encounter Wen Kexing, out for a midnight stroll in a fetching pastel blue and green combo. They ask him about seeing a guy. With a pipa. Or maybe without a pipa. So maybe just a guy. Wen Kexing correctly deduces they’re asking about Phantom Musician Qin Song, who covered Pretty Arhat’s getaway by incapacitating everyone with his magic music. YY disciples are excited and tell WKX yes, this dude was involved in kidnapping Zhang Chengling! Y’all. WKX’s face when he hears that. He is not happy. Almost immediately, he spots Qin Song on a rooftop. Murder Dad 2 springs into action.
So, WKX the Ghost Valley Master finds Qin Song, asks him where Chengling is, crushes his playing hand, threatens to break every single bone in his body one at a time (meanwhile dropping the tidbit that he learned the number of bones in the human body from his dad), and tells him a little story about a time when – apparently – he asked another guy the same question (about WHO? has A-Xiang been kidnapped in the past, because that’s about the only other person I can imagine him being like this about?) and only had to break 80 bones before he got an answer. Meanwhile, ZZS actually finds Chengling, in the Scorpion lair where Du Pusa and Pretty Arhat have variously been molesting him (srsly, I feel like I should probably say something to a trusted adult Murder Dad), torturing him with unpleasant magic pixie dust, smacking him around (he loses a tooth, y’all), and waterboarding him. During all this, Pretty Arhat says she’s yet to meet a man who can stand up to waterboarding, and I’m kind of reminded of WKX’s scene threatening Qin Song, and I don’t know if that’s on purpose or not. Chengling literally spits in her face and proclaims that he’s the son of Zhang Yusen, none of whose sons are cowards, and about then, ZZS busts down the door like he’s WKX (by throwing Monster Jiang through it), tells the Scorpions he’s their daddy, and gets into a big fucking fight with all three of them. He flags a little bit somewhere in here as he starts having some Nail pangs (which, yeah, it must be getting about midnight, which is when that’s supposed to happen) and spits some blood, but he reassures Chengling and then tells the Scorpions no one can stop him from killing who he wants and getting what he wants (OK, Wei Wuxian …). Then he shoots some projectiles from some little contraption up his sleeve that we get a quick look at that I did not remember AT ALL from my first watch of the show but is literally like the gun hanging over the mantel in the first act. Huh. Anyway, he kills Monster Jiang, and Du Pusa (who didn’t give a shit about Monster Jiang OR Qin Song earlier), wants to capture him alive, supposedly so she can get revenge for them by teaching him how it feels “to want to die more than live.” Joke’s on you, lady – too late! That’s literally his constant state of being!
About this time, Qin Song comes flying through the doors – or what’s left of them – gasping his last breath as WKX makes his dramatic entrance. Chengling not only calls him “Wen-shu” but also has already figured out exactly how to manipulate Murder Dad 2 and tells him that in addition to kidnapping him, they also hurt ZZS. WKX is predictably murderous, and Du Pusa and Pretty Arhat run away and hide behind the skirts of Xie Wang’s robes as the Zombie Drug Man Army approaches. WKX tells ZZS to take Chengling and leave, ZZS refuses, and Xie Wang LITERALLY SAYS “IN LIFE AND DEATH YOU WILL NEVER PART. WHAT A TOUCHING MOMENT.” and I am DYING. Also, this will not be the last time ZZS/WKX will exhibit what Xie’er wants from his Awful Yifu. Anyway, Xie’er calls ZZS “Leader Zhou,” then tells WKX that he’ll tell them who he (Xie Wang) is if WKX tells them all who he is first. ZZS is Very Done with all of this and smoke bombs the Scorpions to escape. Xie’er shows he actually does know who both of them are – even though each of them doesn’t know everything about the other’s identity yet, and won’t for a while – by telling Du Pusa and Pretty Arhat that they’re the leader of Tian Chuang and the leader of the Ghost Valley and wondering “How did these two devils end up together?” Like calls to like, I guess.
OK, this is getting super-long, so I’m going to attempt to wrap up with the actual Wenzhou material. We cut to Murder Dads and Chengling sitting in the forest, around a campfire, and Chengling is in heaven, back with his family. He’s super-emotional, and ZZS is all, come on, be a man, don’t cry (OK, crybaby). WKX gives some campfire-cooked rabbit? maybe? to ZZS, who starts a precedent by passing it to Chengling. Please, A-Xu. WKX wants to feed his laopo, will you eat something, ffs? Chengling, still emotional, tells them that he knows they’re the only ones who are sincerely kind to him, that Five Lakes Alliance has all kinds of agendas and none of them care about him, and nobody has asked him what he wants. (I know, bb, they were awful.) ZZS asks what he wants, and Chengling says he wants to learn martial arts, to get revenge, and to not be a useless child anymore. Oh god, the cut to WKX here. His face, y’all. He is not cool with the fact that Chengling thinks he can’t be a child anymore, and probably with whatever role he (WKX) had in it. He is so sad. It’s killing me. However, it’s not as if WKX has lost his edge, and he also pounces, asking Chengling if something happened that made him suspicious of the Alliance. Chengling spills that his dad already didn’t trust them and also told him not to trust anyone ever, but he trusts his Murder Dads! This kid, I tell you. He tells them that his dad hid the Mirror Lake Glazed Armor in his stomach and starts getting ready to cut it out for them before ZZS stops him. He tells them Yusen gave him a letter for the Changming Sword Immortal detailing Rong Xuan’s injury (and we get our first iteration of the story of the battle between the Five Lakes Alliance brothers and Rong Xuan, the poison on the sword, and how that turned Rong Xuan evil). Per Chengling, the original argument was about the Combined Six Cultivation Method. Also per Chengling, the Alliance bothers should have been responsible for Rong Xuan after that, but no one stood up for him – I mean, Zhang Yusen would have, but his legs were broken. We learn that the poisoned sword that injured Rong Xuan belonged to Gao Chong. ZZS looks taken aback, but this all just CONFIRMS WKX’s SUSPICIONS.
Cut away for another scene. Cut back. ZZS has suddenly remembered that he’s pissed off and that someone (else, not him) is sleeping on the couch tonight. Earlier, they were sat in order of Chengling, ZZS, WKX. Now Chengling has been put between them. WKX asks for wine, A-Xu is being passive-aggressive and ignoring him before finally handing the wine gourd to Chengling to pass to WKX. He won’t even look at WKX. It is hilarious, particularly as he only remembered he was mad after they’d all eaten dinner, which WKX cooked, and the pair of them made sure their child was OK. Chengling wants to know if they fought and tells them there’s nothing confidants can’t resolve. He’s in full puppy mode. He tells WKX to hurry up and comfort ZZS, because you know he looks tough on the surface but he’s got the softest heart! Didn’t you teach me that tough women can’t resist clingy men? ZZS’s indignant little face at this is a picture. Chengling offers to apologize for WKX. WKX’s face is all fondness for Chengling, except for the eyebrows, which are doing the Tragic Sadness Eyebrows at ZZS. ZZS is all, OK, fine, although he immediately changes the subject and starts talking about the kidnapping attempt. He tells Chengling that the world is dangerous right now, and the safest place for him is Yueyang Sect. ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS? Chengling sadly nods. My little dude, c’mon. ZZS’s Nails are bothering him and WKX takes the chance to feed him qi, which ZZS accepts – might I note - without complaint. WKX waxes rhapsodic about A-Xu’s shoulder blades, and says he once saw a dead body with beautiful shoulder blades. Smashcut to a flashback of two people who we don’t yet know are Zhen Ruyu and Gu Miaomiao dead on the ground. Although this takes place immediately after the scene of Gao Chong at the altar, when the first tablets we see are Zhen Ruyu’s and Gu Maiomiao’s, we also don’t know yet to connect those names to these bodies. Tricksy, show. We see Zhen Yan place his hand on Gu Miaomiao’s back, and WKX’s voiceover talks about how he could tell she was a beauty despite the blood everywhere. ZZS interrupts this morbid tale to say they should let the past stay in the past, and then tells WKX, “My condolences,” even though WKX hasn’t actually mentioned anywhere in the story about this dead body that it was even anyone he knew, let alone someone he was related to. Because A-Xu isn’t stupid. Immediately after this - after saying they should leave the past in the past - ZZS asks WKX who he is. WKX goes into his Philanthropist Wen evasion spiel. ZZS shakes his head, visibly steels himself, and apparently comes to the decision to model the behavior he’s trying to encourage by coming clean about his real name, his relationship to Siji Manor, all of his bad decisions, his choking guilt over the deaths of all the Siji Manor disciples, and his reign of state-sanctioned terror as founder and leader of Tian Chuang. Notably, the very first word Chengling speaks to ZZS after hearing this rundown of supposed and actual crimes is to call him “Shifu” again to get his attention before asking for more info about the Scorpions. THIS CHILD. MY HEART.
ZZS tells them both, “I spent half my life alone, doing things I didn’t want to do and killing people I didn’t want to kill,” and I literally want to reach into the screen and shake WKX, because OMG LAO WEN. You are reflections of each other, and he’s baring his soul, and you’re going to continue to be so afraid that he’s not going to accept every part of you that it’s going to be episodes and episodes before you open up, and even then, only after he figures it out on his own. :hands: To make things even more OBVIOUS, ZZS then asks Chengling if he still wants ZZS to be his shifu after learning all of this, and Chengling doesn’t even hesitate, he says “Of course,” and ZZS and I are both about to cry. UGH. Zhang Zhehan, your face. It’s killing me. This is a man seeing the hope of resurrection for the sect he was convinced he had ground into dust. ZZS and Chengling are both so busy being emotional at each other that WKX has to take matters into his own hands, encouraging Chengling to bow, and we get a real bow to shifu this time, in a scene that once again mirrors the later scene when Zhen Yan makes his bow to Qin Huaizhang to become a Siji Manor disciple.
ZZS tells Chengling, all right, then. You are the first disciple of the sixth generation. (SHIXIONG. NO PRESSURE.)
End ep.

The weather was too good to last at this time of year. It was maybe mid-afternoon when the dark clouds that had been hovered in the distance grew larger and darker, bringing the storm closer and closer. Most of the party kept a cautious eye on them as they urged the dogs to go a little bit faster than the already ground-eating pace that they’d set. That there was a major blizzard bearing down on them wasn’t in doubt. What was was whether or not they’d find adequate shelter before it hit and buried them all in snow.
Snow was already falling and swirling around them, cutting visibility down so much that each sled couldn’t even see their lead dogs, when they passed a rock formation that seemed somehow familiar. Which was strange, it was just a standard jumble of rocks on a mountain that was full of such things, but as his sled drew close to it, then began to pass it, Zhang Qiling felt more and more like he’d been around that specific pile of rocks before, and the feeling that these rocks were… safe? kept growing. He turned to look at them, concentrating hard, trying to see what was…
Ah. There it was.
He nudged the other man on the sled with him, and pointed at the rocks.
“Cave!” he shouted over the wind.
“What?!”
“Cave!” Zhang Qiling pointed, and his companion slowed the sled down to see what he was indicating. When he finally noticed the dark cave entrance half blocked by the rocks, he immediately pulled the sled to a halt, causing the ones behind them to also start slowing and stopping, and pulled out a radio to yell into it, letting the people ahead of them know, while Zhang Qiling jumped down from the sled and headed towards the rocks and the cave entrance. He wasn’t worried about other sleds passing them, or the sleds in front of them getting further ahead until they got the signal to stop and come back. Each sled carried a radio beacon, so even if they didn’t see each other, it was easy to find one that got separated, or vice versa. Originally, the strategy had been designed for night travel without any lights, when the sleds or carts were supposed to cross large swathes of land in the dead of night using no or minimal light so that they couldn’t be spotted from a distance. Chen Pi Ah Si had this whole procedure streamlined down to an art form, reducing the costs, preventing any troubles, and making sure that the most amount of loot got delivered. And there was usually a lot of loot, because Zhang Qiling had seen Chen Pi Ah Si’s people skillfully peel away even the carved panels on the walls of some tombs, cleaning out absolutely everything that had the slightest value. He suspected that whatever Chen Pi Ah Si couldn’t sell to rich private collectors he sold to museums in and outside of the country.
Not just the sleds had radio beacons, those people that Chen Pi Ah Si deemed as strategic also had them. Zhang QIling had one - it was the size of a matchbox and quite clunky, with a manual switch and a short antenna that he could pull out from one end. He thumbed the switch, the red blinking light turning on instantly, and stuffed the thing back into his pocket. He wasn’t sure what the range of the signal was, but it should be powerful enough in close distances that they should be able to track him to the cave if something happened. Chen Pi Ah Si, Hei Xiazi, and Zhao Zhengli also each had a beacon, as well as Wu Xie.
Zhang Qiling had made sure of that.

H3: trapped incoming: so I think if Shao Fei was willing to team up with Le Zhe De for a "common enemy" I would absolutely swoon to see Shao Fei team up with Andy for something similar. If you're up for it.
Thank you so much for your prompt, here go have one serve of Shao Fei and Jack shenanigans. If you have an ao3 account and want to you can tell me your username and I will gift this fic to you when I upload it ^^
Trapped Ficlet
Shao Fei hadn’t foreseen this in any shape or form. It had sounded logical and to be fair very easy to his ears and only slightly illegal but it had been for Zhao Zi who was his best friend and now they were held at gunpoint by an old lady.
A mean old lady and he didn’t think this because she had misled them with an act of being courteous and harmless but also because Jack had a huge needle in his upper arm and she had been the one stabbing him with it.
“If you would be so inclined and give me the bottle?”, she asked with an impatient flick with the gun and Shao Fei shared a look with Jack and then with both hands still raised bend down to roll the bottle he had found in the box in the little hole under the loose tile towards her. She stopped the bottle with her food.
“Officer Meng, please take out your handcuffs.”
“Miss Hu, do we really have to do it this way? How about...”
“The handcuffs Officer Meng!”
Shao Fei sighed and slowly got his handcuffs from his belt.
“Cuff yourself to the recliner.”
After Shao Fei had cuffed himself to the recliner she picked up the bottle and hurried out of the room. Shao Fei turned towards Jack.
“She totally killed her nephew.”
“I said that all along,” Jack said through clenched teeth and then pulled out the needle with a low grunt.
“Oi, shouldn’t you leave that in there?”
“How else can I get you out of your handcuffs?”
True, Shao Fei thought but now the blood was running freely down Jack’s arm and contaminated what most likely was the murder scene of Hu Ning, former cook and owner of a noodle restaurant. He was also the inventor of a famous sauce Zhao Zi couldn’t live without.
Which yes Jack and Shao Fei had tried to find the recipe for and they might have broken into the closed restaurant for it, which was maybe illegal but they now had found out that Hu Ning had been most likely been killed for the sauce recipe and that counted for something, right?
Jack used the needle to poke around in the lock of the cuffs and it didn’t take long and Shao Fei was free.
“Thank you, now we have to get you taken care off and confess to my boss what had happened.”
“Aren’t you the boss now, Captain?” Oh, Shao Fei didn’t appreciate cheeky Jack.
“Not when I did something stupid no, then Captain Shi is still allowed to strangle me. Can you walk?”
“Yeah, it’s just a flesh wound,” Jack said dismissively and took a kitchen towel from one of the counters to press against his wound. Shao Fei sighed, because, again, contamination of a crime scene but they were so screwed already it didn’t matter anymore.
When they left the restaurant they were greeted by flashing blue lights and Miss Hu in a police car while Zhao Zi was putting the bottle with the recipe written on the back of the label in an evidence bag.
Huh.
“Zhao Zi?”, Shao Fei yelled and every head turned towards them. Oh, that had not been his best course of action but this day had been crazy enough.
“What happened?” Zhao Zi asked and ran over to them. “Are you bleeding? Why are you bleeding?”
Shao Fei used an out of an awkward situation when he saw one and while Zhao Zi fussed over Jack he made a break for it. Jack had been the one with the idea to find out if the cook of Zhao Zi’s favourite sauce had maybe hidden his recipe somewhere and it was only logical for him to explain everything to his husband.

“i think your dog likes my dog” TangFei? ❤️
Damn okay dis bij is finally back on the AU prompts:
“Ah Fei, you really should just go over to him!” whispers Zhao Zi conspiratorially in his ear. “You can’t keep doing this!”
Meng Shao Fei nudges Zhao Zi away, making sure his best friend isn’t blocking the view of his eye candy. It has become a crippling crush these few weeks, the handsome, well-sculpted and seemingly aloof man with his golden retriever that visits the neighbourhood park every two days. The man turns up at 7.30am and then 7pm without fail every time he visits, and Shao Fei was so desperate that he went to get himself a dog.
To be fair, he was already considering getting himself a dog recently, because he has lived 29 single years and after a tough case at the precinct, sometimes Shao Fei really, really wants someone to be waiting at home for him, or a something, in this case.
And so he has this ridiculously energetic shiba inu sitting obediently in his laps, curled up comfortably as the warm glow of morning sunlight is cast gently over them. The little thing is adorable as hell, and even without his eye candy in the park, Shao Fei would have gotten the puppy anyway.
The thing is, once he got the puppy, Shao Fei just stopped there, wondering how to get close to his crush and perhaps create himself an opportunity to speak to the man.
“You’re a wuss,” Zhao Zi rolls his eyes, yawning loudly. “I’ve even sacrificed sleep just to give you support in person and you don’t even want to talk to him?! Meng Shao Fei, you’re getting soft!”
“I just...” Shao Fei breathes. “What if he has a girlfriend?”
“You’ve been stalking him here for weeks, if there was a girlfriend you’d think she turns up at least once a week, but there has been no girlfriend in sight. Ah Fei, if you don’t talk to him today, I’m telling everyone at the office including Chief that you were too afraid to talk to your crush! Look at him!”
They both turn to see the man still resting on the bench on the other side of the running path, his lovely golden retriever settled at his feet.
“Go, Ah Fei!”
Unfortunately, Zhao Zi is a little too loud when he says that and Shao Fei has been bringing his new puppy to dog school. The first thing the little monster understood was ‘go’, and habit has his puppy waking up immediately, and dashing off as if he was a missile with a target.
Too stunned to even react, Shao Fei gets to his feet one step too late, and yells, “Fifi!!!”
The puppy doesn’t even stop, and he’s heading straight for Mr. Handsome with his equally regal looking golden retriever. The older dog gets to its feet as Fifi approaches, looking at the tiny thing with curiosity, and then Fifi tumbles right into it.
The two dogs end up rolling across the grass. Shao Fei worries for a second - the dog is ten times the size of Fifi! When he gets closer, however, he sees that both dogs are play-fighting, and each snap of their jaws is gentle. Well, as gentle as two excited dogs can be.
“I’m sorry,” Shao Fei apologizes, “That’s my-”
“I think your dog likes my dog,” the man smiles, getting to his feet.
And it’s that smile, that has Shao Fei’s breath catching in his throat and his heartbeat quickening against his ribcage bones.
Damn, the man is even better looking up close.
“... your dog is cute,” Shao Fei finally squeezes out so he does not look like a Moron™.
“So is yours. How old is he?”
“Just a little over three months,” swallows Shao Fei. “His... His name is Fifi.”
The man’s lips curve upwards, as if amused, before he responds, “His name is Tang Bao.”
The both of them just stare at each other for a while longer, their dogs ignoring their owners.
“... Would you like to have a coffee-” Shao Fei suddenly blurts out, because damn if he hasn’t been rehearsing this phrase repeatedly in the mirror in the last few weeks.
At that, the man’s face falls a little, and Shao Fei steps back quickly, as if bracing himself for rejection. The movement catches Fifi’s eyes though, and before Shao Fei can put up both hands and explain himself, the puppy is running at Shao Fei and knocks into the back of his feet.
Yelping, Shao Fei loses balance mid-movement. Hands and arms reach out from the corner of his eyes to steady him, and when he looks up, the man’s face is close, even closer than before, with an arm around the back of Shao Fei’s waist.
“... I can’t do coffee right now because I have an urgent meeting in an hour,” the man says after a pause. “But if you’re free in the afternoon?”
Shao Fei beams.
Two seconds later, he has ‘Tang Yi’ saved into his phone.
---
From a distance away, hiding behind a bush, Zhao Zi holds onto Fifi and both friend and puppy narrow their eyes at Shao Fei, who has completely forgotten about them in favour of his potential new hoe.
===
Note:
Tang Yi’s dog’s name is called Tang Bao i.e. 唐 (Tang, his surname) and 宝 (Bao as in darling/baby) - I figured since there is Lao Tang (Old Tang for Tang Yi’s dad), and Xiao Tang (Small Tang for Tang Yi himself), then the youngest in their family would be Tang Baby, basically XD

WARNING SPOILERS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally watched History: Trapped. Is there anything negative? Besides, the fact that Tang Yi has been put through the ringer since childhood…it was amazing story telling. They kept it concise, well-written, each character had substance. For instance, Zou (Tang Yi’s sis) wasn’t just stripped away for her love story. No, she still had a strength. She was a dynamic character and even the junior who fell for Shao Fei, she still had substance and not just a love story. My biggest takeaway is there wasn’t one complaint. NOT ONE (if I was carefully watching) about any of the couples being two men. The only bit of juicy shit was that Tang Yi is rumored to have been with both guys and girls. Ha, well, I’ll stan a bi gangsta trying to go legit. Yes, please. Hmmm, reminds me of the scene with Andy, Shao Fei and (wtf is that bodyguard’s name)? Anyway, those three are fighting over Tang Yi in his office and I’m like shit dude your charisma must be like a drug (oh sorry we don’t like drugs).
This leads me into a segue y’all might hate, but that bodyguard who is in love with Tang Yi, once he realizes he lost again because he saw the birthday kiss in the window, he took drastic measures. Hmm. Boss, I didn’t change the water. I had little faith so I yelled don’t drink it. He does because apparently Tang Yi has a heart that’s willing to trust. Ugh. How does a mind get so in love and think I must now drug this person to get what I want? All the while sending men to kill his actual lover. What’s this remind me of because that too is fresh in my mind? Well, Lhong. It reminds me of that character. The bodyguard went directly after what he wanted in a disgusting way…I kept imagining what if Lhong decided now is the moment. Type has left him. Tharn told Tar to never show his face again. What if…? This decision the bodyguard makes is a decision lurking in the back of Lhong’s mind. Nothing pushed him over board yet. The bodyguard was merely pushed over the limit because what’s the one complaint about the relationship: HE’S A COP. YOU’RE A GANGSTER. Bodyguard thinks I’ve been here in love with him longer, I’ve got some sort of claim on him. I’m also a gangster, what good is a cop going to do? Well, turns out that cop has Tang Yi’s interests at heart whereas…so you just lose ya creep. Oh hey, look at that. It turns out that Type has Tharn’s interests at heart…so you just lose ya snake.
The story was beautiful, (found myself crying over Tang Yi’s family matters more than anything), well-written, had SUBSTANCE. It felt weighted in a good way and honestly, I came out feeling positive? Like well shit that was a beautiful one shot. Also, it seamlessly played. Some slow moments, but nonetheless each episode felt like a one-shot fic. Boom. Boom. Done. We’re lucky to have kisses sprinkled in. It was just nice and I’ll definitely watch again someday. Maybe the re-watch will focus more on Jack and Zhao Zi. The childlike wonder is baffling and refreshing? Zhao Zi had to grow a little out of naivety, but I do think he has a better head on his shoulders than people give him credit for. Also, better deduction skills than one thinks. He obviously didn’t feel too threatened by Jack because both he and Shao Fei know that Tang Yi doesn’t make orders to kill, doesn’t kill others himself and neither would Jack so really what did Zhao Zi have to be afraid? But it’s like he chooses to play the whole meek part but if someone actually came at him and say Jack witnessed…well, consider him scared and horny now. With them I just love how Jack went “I quit.” So well adjusted? I fell in love with a cop so I quit. I want to take care of that cop. Make him food, be at home when he gets home. I quit. Damn, if that’s not goals?
So…I spoiled some shit, but if ya haven’t watched History: Trapped, you should. It’s somehow a delightful, tumultuous and comedic love story?

ok, ok. you got me into guardian, now tell me what is this history 3 thing?? lol
alright alright alright let’s talk history 3: trapped. this is my first taiwanese drama in..........years, yo. i don’t think i’ve watched any since my mum banned us from watching it in an effort to try to Standardise my mandarin. sorry ma, but i am unapologetically using 诶~ now again.
in this show, we follow the adventures of everyone’s favourite rebel cop, meng shaofei (ft. that stray curl of hair, fifi, that we all love and will Protect)
Tumblr media
meng shaofei has an Arch Nemesis (of sorts) that he follows around for ~investigative purposes~, mob boss tang yi
Tumblr media
(i should clarify that there actually is some plot behind this. like tang yi is very pretty and all, but shaofei is not just following him around only because of that. tang yi was the sole survivor of an incident that happened 4 years ago that ended both tang yi’s mentor/father figure and shaofei’s mentor/senior’s lives - shaofei wants some answers.)
Tumblr media
this gif.........sums up the show, lbr. (also this precious bb is zhao zi. we will talk about zhao zi in a bit.)
meng shaofei is, as he will tell us, not into tang yi, not even a little bit, hahahaha how could he be, he’s a cop, and tang yi is a gangster???????
meng shaofei, as we will learn, is a Lying Liar Who Lies. :)))))))
Tumblr media
some tropey stuff happen in between. think enemies to (half) friends to lovers. think witness protection. think handcuffed together. think impulsive disaster gay on jealous rage. think h/c.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y’ALL CAN EXTRAPOLATE FROM THIS.
bonus side note: tang yi has Very Nice Hands and is not afraid to use his pinky.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there is also the cutest??? side couple??????? lemme yell about them a bit okay???
so because one (1) cop/gangster couple is Not Enough, the writers have decided to bless us with two????? i would like to thank god, jesus, and also lin peiyu.
this is zhao zi, shaofei’s partner, and also p much the sweetest, purest child. i mean. look at him. he’s got a stuffed dinosaur. i am so. T.T everyone should love and protect him.
Tumblr media
and everyone does want to love and protect him.
including tang yi’s right hand man, jack.
especially jack.
Tumblr media
this is my boy jack. i think it’s also Important for all y’all to know that he is My Favourite.
zhao zi and jack became friends when jack “kidnapped” zhao zi
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ngl it was more a playdate than a kidnapping. zhao zi slept through half of it. jack made him noodles the second half.
Tumblr media
they were arranging to meet again when jack let zhao zi go.
anyway jack is openly flirty and zhao zi is The Most Oblivious Boy This Side of The Universe. at one point zhao zi very platonically feels jack up. also jack basically invites zhao zi to see him naked.
and still zhao zi doesn’t get it.
can y’all believe what i have to sit through.
ANYWAY. the show is fun to watch, if a little cringey at points because everyone in this show mostly shaofei is So Embarrassing. 11/10 would rec that all y’all join me in screaming over this show. we’re on ep 12 currently, the full show is 20 eps. you can watch it here without subs, and here with subs.

The Beginning
by @florbexter
Pairing: Zhao Zi x Jack
Wordcount:  ~ 2.000
Summary:
“It’s nice to have another computer crack on the team,” Meng Shao Fei said and looked towards the rest area of the department where Zhao Zi was doing a handstand while another police officer held a piece of paper in front of his face for him to read out loud. If Jack interpreted the yelling correctly there was a family-sized pizza at stake.

__________________________________________________
Scraping noises could be heard in the apartment building as two men walked down the hallway. A man in his thirty marched, with an imposing posture, behind a smaller one. Silence welcomed them as they turned into a new hallway, barely lit. Hands rose up in the air, the smaller man walked calmly not minding the cold steel of the gun placed against his nape.Arrived at a door, most likely to be the older man apartment keys were thrown on the carpet floor for the smaller man to pick up. As the man knelt to take possession of the keys, the pressure of the muzzle on his nape increase, probably to remind him not to try something. Once the “click” sound of the door unlocking was heard, the man holding the gun pushed is victim inside and violently closed the door behind. Forced to sit on the rusty-looking couch, Meng Shao Fei started to wonder if what he did was really the best thing.
Meng Shao Fei, a senior police officer who works alongside his best friend Zhao Li An, was everything but stupid. He knew perfectly well what he was doing and not once was he intimidated by the gun pointed toward his head. Impulsive, sure, in most cases Shao Fei acted according to the situation. In this case, his priority was to save the hostages and thus he made a move without thinking. Stubborn, damn right he was. No matter what his captain told him not to do if he had his mind set on doing it he would do it. He’ll keep fighting for justice. Destructive, not that he actually realized he was destructive over his own body. With complete disregard for his own safety, Meng Shao Fei would frequently end up in a dangerous situation and ,most of the time, with injuries. His co-worker tried hard to make him more cautious, to no avail. His job was to catch criminals along with saving normal citizens, placing his safety at the bottom of his list of importance.
A thought crossed the senior policeman mind as the criminal, not noticing the lack of attention of his hostage, kept talking about his escape plan all the while pointing the gun in every direction. Shao Fei thought of Tang Yi, the gang leader he “ stalked” for four years and his current boyfriend. He sure the other male would reprimand him for doing this. He just hopes Tang Yi wouldn’t do something dangerous if he hears about him being a hostage.
How did he ended up like this, well it was kind of a funny story. Today was his only day off, so, with a sudden desire to buy something for his boyfriend, the senior policeman went shopping in the nearest mall. The saying “ You were at the wrong place at the wrong time” could be applied to him as he entered his third shop. A man in his thirty had entered the same shop at the same time. Everything turned bad as the man took his gun out and started yelling and threatening the cashier. Apparently, the woman was the man ex-girlfriend and he didn’t like the idea of her breaking up. Shao Fei had cursed under his breath when he remembered he didn’t have his gun, since it was a day off. The whole situation then turned to a criminal taking hostages and asking for money. The man probably notice how fast the police were on the site and thought of a way of escaping. In another circumstance, seeing the surprised looks on his co-workers face as they laid eyes on him, would have been funny.
For almost an hour, Shao fei along with twelve other people, waited in the shop with a deranged man walking around pointing his gun at whoever would dare to move. He wouldn’t have done anything if everyone in the shop was alright. However, as the minutes passed, a kid sitting next to, what Shao Fei assumed was her mother, started to breathe heavily. Soon enough, the mother gasped and watched as her daughter fell into the floor shaking violently. Shao Fei understood what was happening and moved before the man with the gun could approach the child. He stood in front of the man, the muzzle of the gun was resting on his forehead.
“ She’s having an epileptic seizure she needs medical attention.”
Shao Fei had told the man, his eyes staring at the other’s. He didn’t care about the gun, his preoccupation was on the kid having a seizure. Maybe it was the stress that caused the kid to have an epileptic seizure but one thing was for sure, she needed to go to the hospital. Sometimes, Shao Fei wished he had the innocence of Zhao Zi so he could convince the man to give himself to the police, but Shao Fei was Shao Fei. The man was getting angrier and the kid was still shaking on the ground, her mother making sure she was on the side with no object around. Shao Fei did something is boss really would have killed him for that.
“ Look, let them go, you can keep me as a hostage they’ll let you pass for sure. The little kid needs help if you don’t she might die.”
Movement could be seen outside the shop, from his peripheral vision Shao Fei saw his captain alongside Zhao Zi talking with other police officers, his captain looked angry. After more tries to convince the man from taking only him as a hostage, the man finally obliged. Both of them past by the police outside, his captain yelling at Shao Fei, which made the senior smile. He would be in trouble after this.
The man kept mumbling, pacing around his dusty and gross apartment. Blinking, Shao Fei observed the distracted man, his eyes landing on the keys resting on the small coffee table near the couch. He knew the other police officers would be there soon but he would give a shot at trying to escape. Testing the water, Shao Fei moved slowly on the couch, trying not to alert the distracted man. Sadly, luck wasn’t on his sides that day , once he moved the couch made a protesting noise and caught the man’s attention, who pointed the gun back to Shao Fei.
“Don’t fucking try to move or I’ll put a bullet in your precious skull!”
Yeah maybe it was a bad idea to do what he did. Not that he was afraid of getting a bullet, like he told his boyfriend, only a canon could kill him. What he was more afraid of was worrying Tang Yi. It’s been two hours since he was kidnapped, he was sure that by now the gang leader had heard of it and was trying to find him.Well, more like Jack had the job of finding him and Tang Yi would beat the man who dared touch him. He was wondering who would come here first, Tang Yi’s man or the police. A smile drew on his lips as he thought about his boyfriend being the first to arrive, he trusted his co-worker but sometimes they could be dumb so he bet on the gang leader. His smile was caught by the man and Shao Fei could feel the cold of the muzzle on his temple.
“What are you smiling at?”
Spat the man visibly pissed by the nonchalant attitude of Shao Fei. The lack of reaction toward the threatening gun made the man growled.
“Nothing really, just wondering what’s going to happen next.”
Shao Fei contemplated the front door, the man followed his gaze and growled even more. The senior cop felt the handle of the gun met his temple with force making him lay on the couch, his head in pain. Well, now the man was definitely dead, Sha Fei sighed as he knew he would have to confront Tang Yi and prevent him from killing the man.
“ Those stupid cops won’t find us that easily don’t get your hopes up. You’ll probably be fucking dead when they arrive!”
Shao Fei didn’t bother sitting back up, even if the couch was really disgusting, he was just waiting for a few minutes for the pain to subdue.
“Believe me, I’m more worried about what’s going to happen to you when he finds us.”
The man angrily grabbed his collar and violently forced Shao Fei to look at him. Their faces were almost touching and Meng Shao Fei could smell the horrible breath of the other and forced himself not to make a disgusted face.
“ Who the fuck are you talking about! No one will come to save you !”
It was at that moment a knock was heard on the door. Shao Fei smiled again, chuckling at little. The man didn’t like that and, once again, punched him violently with the gun. The man pushed Shao Fei on the floor, walked to the door with his gun raised up in the air.
“ I wouldn’t answer if I were you.”
Insisted Shao, but the man didn’t bother listening to him.
“Shut the fuck! If it’s the cop, i’ll just shoot them!”
Decidedly, the man was dumb, Shao watched as the man opened the door and wasn’t surprised by the wide smile that was on the other side.Waving, Jack tilted his head to be able to see Shao lying on the floor. The red head man didn’t even acknowledge the gun pointed to his head as his eyes met Shao’s.
“Hey!”
The man charged the gun, making Jack paid attention to him, still smiling like the Cheshire cat.
“Get the fuck away asshole!”
Before the man could shoot, Jack took out his knife and with an incredible speed and plunged it into the man's arm holding the gun. The man screamed and dropped the gun. Jack then pushed him inside and closed the door behind him. Shao Fei watched as Jack and the man fought each other; truly Jack was unsettling as he kept his big smile all the time. It wasn’t long before the man fell to the floor unconscious. His head was still hurting when Shao stood up, under the cheerful smile of the mercenary.
“The boss is looking for you.”
Teased Jack, kneeling in front of the unconscious man.
“Leave him here, the police will come to get him, I’ll send them the location.”
Jack shrugged, he opened the door for Shao Fei and the two of them walked away leaving a beat up unconscious man in his apartment. Sitting in Jack’s car, Shao fei was thinking about what he would say to Tang Yi, the gang leader would surely scold him.
“You didn’t have your phone on your other boss?”
Shao shook his head, his phone was dead so he didn’t bother bringing it with him. In his mind, he would have just been out for shopping, no need for the phone. Eyes on the road ahead, Jack gave his phone to Shao so he could call the police and tell them where the man was. After ending the call, Shao Fei was about to give the phone back to Jack when a LINE message popped up. The cop raised an eyebrow as he noticed the name of the person texting Jack.
“How did you get Zhao Zi’s LINE?”
Jack only answered by smiling even more, leaving a confused Shao Fei beside him. They arrived soon after at Tang Yi enormous house. Jack left him, his eyes glued on the phone as he walked away. Shao Fei would have to question Zhao Zi about that. Entering Tang Yi’s bedroom, the cop met his love, who was sitting on the edge of the bed his hand claps together. Once he heard the sound of the door opening, Tang Yi stood up and closed the gap between him and Shao Fei.The other man didn’t have time to say anytime as strong pairs of arms wrapped themselves around his waist. It was at that moment Shao Fei felt bad for worrying his boyfriend. Breaking the hug, the senior cop starred in the other’s eyes mouthing an “I’m alright” before connecting their lips into a passionate kiss.
Sitting on the bed, Shao Fei winced as Tang Yi’s gentle fingers brushed against the spot where he got hit by the handle of the gun. The gang leader brought his lips to the spot making Shao Fei smile at the loving gesture.
“I was worried about you.”
“I was thinking about you.”
Tang Yi placed his forehead against his boyfriend’s , his hands cupping Shao’s face.
“Hm?”
“When I was there, I kept thinking about you. I knew that no matter what I had to go back to you so I didn’t do anything rash I just waited.”
Well, not exactly, Shao Fei did try to escape by himself but his plan had failed miserably so he didn’t count it.
“What were you doing in the Shopping Mall?”
Shao Fei wasn’t even surprised that the other man knew where he had been. Looking down, the cop felt a little embarrassed about telling his boyfriend he went shopping to find him a gift.
“ I was looking for something to give you.”
“Why?”
“Because I wanted! I wanted to give you something that you would love!”
Tang Yi forced Shao Fei to look up, their lips meeting again.
“ The only thing I love is sitting in front of me. I don’t need anything else”
This time, the kiss grew more and more passionate and soon clothes were thrown across the room. Hours later, the couple cuddled in the comfortable bed, their foreheads touching as they fell asleep.
The end

I watched “Trapped” for the 3rd time in the last 15 days, and I was crying at the end of the last episode because I knew that now I am able to let go of the series, and move on... (Although it doesn’t mean I won’t relapse and re-watch it some day.) Initially I wanted to check for the moments when Tang Yi wears his fringe down (which means he lets his guard down with the people around him -- in the last episode he lets in down in the bedroom scene with Shao Fei) or when he smokes (because he hadn’t smoked before Tang Godun’s death, and when he does now it means some serious things), or other moments from the novel, but in the end I totally forgot about this intention and just enjoyed the series.
Thoughts with spoilers under the cut:
I still have a few questions that are left unanswered.
1) Who exchanged information via lockers? Initally I thought those people were the trairor policeman and a mobster who served that guy from the 1st episode who later almost helped the traitor policeman escape. But! That fatty who took the documents from the locker actually looked like one of Wenhao’s men, and in one of last episodes Wenhao’s lawyer-friend said something about the information on Tang Yi from the locker. So, that probably means Wenhao’s men exchanged info either with Jake or with some other person from Xintian Meng. But I’m not sure, because then how does Wenhao meeting Jake in a restaurant makes sense???
2) Second, I have so many question about Tang Godun!!! First, was he in love with his friend Wenhao? (There was a moment in the novel where after Lee Chen left the prison meeting room and Wenhao was yelling that he’d kill him, Tang Godun said under his breath that he could’ve never betrayed him, and that got me thinking that it might be the case.) Was he asexual? I mean, my folk need representation, I’d be happy to know that he’s one of us. Next, why didn’t he help Wenhao get out of prison? He promised to get him out of there in several months after he would’ve dealt with the rival gang’s attempts to kill his friend, but in the end Wenhao spent 24 years in prison! Yeah, Tang Godun said to Tang Yi that he has a friend he owes so much he cannot repay, but... Man, that’s incomprehensible! (Also, when he said that thing to Tang Yi, Tang Yi first asked, “Are you talking about a woman?” So... that also got me thinking...) And also, did he actually know that Tang Yi is Wenhao’s son? Or did he truly believe that Lee Chen aborted the baby, and it was all a coincidence? Did he see something familiar in Tang Yi’s face then, and that is why he adopted him? If he knew that Tang Yi is Lee Chen and Chen Wenhao’s son, did they plan to tell it to Wenhao (and Tang Yi) at the meeting “four years ago”??? I need answers to these questions, Tang Godun is really the most mysterious person of the series! And this idea about three... let’s say friends as the starting point of the whole story is fantastic!
I was really amused by the thought (and also I cried at the realization) that Wenhao and Tang Yi are truly father and son not only because they loved tea so much, but also because all those years they both were driven by their desire for revenge. And then they found truth and redemption in their love for their police sweethearts. They’re truly father and son. (Still thinking that them not organizing their own tea club is a letdown.) Also, Tang Yi was his parents’ son, son of a mob and a policewoman: he was the head of a mafia group who legalized the business and stopped drug trafficking.
I was happy that they made Jake and Zhao Zi’s relationship more consensual. In the novel their relationship was off-putting because of the lack of consent. But their dynamics still didn’t do much for me. Just nope.
There was a nice parallel in the series when former police boss said to Shao Fei that Shao Fei remained untainted and pure. This is the same thing that Tang Godun said to Tang Yi about keeping the heart (the core of the Lotus root) pure. It was a really nice thought-out parallel.
I was also thoroughly amused by how Tang Yi began messing with people’s relationships for fun. First, he teased the doctor, then he compromised Jake. Sure, before that he tried to set up a date for his sister, yet that was out of serious concern for her happiness, but now he does it for fun! xD Did he become such a prankster because of his boyfriend? Or was it always a hidden part of him? ;D Though he truly does care for the people around him! And he always settles his debts! XDDDDD (I’m totally thinking about the bed scene, LOL!)
I think I can write essays on how good this series is!!!
Now (I think) I can move forward and leave the series behind. I have some ideas for a crack!video, but they are really odd, and actually I don’t know/don’t remember how to edit videos.
