Hello! Are you doing alright? If it's ok, could I please request the brothers' reaction to their darling being a reincarnation of their s/o?
For context I imagine that they and darling would have probably had a relationship from back when they were angels, but it was cut short when darling died during the celestial war (probably either killed while rebelling or just didn’t survive the fall). However, after becoming demons, they met darling’s new incarnation, and the uncanny similarities led to both the realization of the reincarnation thing and also a really weird dynamic because, while it was a break up via death and not either of them actually wanting to stop being the other’s s/o, darling doesn't have any memories as their s/o since, y'know, death and all, so in their mind darling is basically like “Who are you and how do you know so much about me?” (Unless they wanna try doing some weird soul stuff to jog their memory but in obey me cannon it seems like memories from past lives are only recovered upon death so not sure how that would work out)
Also, I realize that this scenario wouldn’t really work with Satan due to him being the only of the brothers who isn’t a former angel, so you can feel free to not include him if you like! Thank you in any case, and I hope you have a lovely day!
Hello my dear sweet anon. This ask plays really nicely off of another ask I got and I sort of want to do them together because it was fun to consider both at the same time, so I'm going to smoosh them together if that's alright with you! Here that ask is:
a request 🥹 pov the brothers had a ONS with a vampire mc (who lives on earth, didn't get chosen for the programm but since the realms are more connected it's easier for them to travel between them because magic n shit) so how would they react if they heard rumors of them being a vampire and meet them again per chance?? also they could rival them in strength so how would their obsession go? sorry this is so long, this could be a whole fanfic on it's own lmao but i'm 2 lazy
This response will be a little unusual since it's a mix of ideas from both of these (e.g. it'll be a long term relationship instead of an ons, the angel will be a vampire instead, the brother will have become yandere after they became a demon), so if either of you don't like the way it turns out feel free to resubmit your ask and I can answer it on its own!
(Gn!reader x AMAB!yandere)(noncon)(gaslighting)(18+ readers only please, mdni)[This is fetish content and rape and abuse are disgusting and inexcusable in real life.]
Lucifer as an angel is about as proud as usual so I think he'd be kind of pissed about vampire darling being just as strong as he is LOL In fact, I can kind of see that being how the very beginnings of his obsession with this darling would form, he's training a lot so that he actually is stronger than they are and can put them in their place. He'd be very interested in vampire darling's life, I think, and not necessarily judgmental of it, similarly to how he was just curious about "Sully" in the first game after he cornered him for not being an angel.
Meeting an MC that was a reincarnation of his lost vampire darling, Yandere!Lucifer would probably try to play it cool at first, especially because the exchange program is so important for the devildom. As his obsession gets reignited, however, he is more and more likely to orchestrate a situation where MC is forced to stay by him and obey him, no matter how long it takes to do so. Because he "broke up" with vampire darling by them dying, he's going to be extremely controlling almost immediately, because he wants to protect them as much as possible. As usual, he isn't really all that concerned about your opinion on the relationship because in his mind you are meant to be together. If you're creeped out by him knowing so much - good. All the more reason for you to listen to what he says.
Mammon would also not do well with a vampire darling that's as strong as him and would constantly take opportunities to show off how strong he is or insist that he needs to do things for them because they are too dainty to do it themself LOL He would constantly ask super ridiculous stuff about vampire darling, including mixing up various legends and asking them stuff like if he should stay away during a full moon. At the same time, Mammon is pretty subby so he would be drooling every time they put him in his place.
Considering that Yandere!Mammon is already eager for any pretext at all to be all over MC, MC being his reincarnated darling will be license to do whatever he wants regardless of if he is explaining that to you or his brothers. He'll occupy all of your time and never leave you alone with any of the others, and at first it might be pleasant because Mammon is taking you to do things that he knows you like. Once it becomes clear how deep his obsession with you really runs, though, it would probably begin to sink in how creepy/unhealthy it is. Mammon also doesn't really pay much attention to the fact that he is further along in this relationship than you are. To you, he's a stranger; to him, you're a part of him. He'll be pouncing on you before you can even remember which room is his.
When he is an angel, vampire darling will probably the person who got the closest to Leviathan before MC -- he's so painfully negative after losing his purpose as admiral that someone sticking with him anyway would really open him up to a deep connection. It's so interesting to imagine this because before he cloistered himself away as an otaku, it would probably be possible for vampire darling to have a really normal relationship with a bf who seems just kind of reserved L)L As for vampire darling being stronger, Leviathan dreams of them stepping on him every day and could not be happier. It would probably take a long time for him to reveal all the little fantasies he has about both them being a vampire and being stronger than him, but he'd have them immediately .
No one can convince me that Yandere!Leviathan hasn't turned at least a third of his brain to applesauce due to extensive exposure to hentai, so I'm betting that he has already been taken with vampy kinks for a while when reincarnated MC shows up. He would feel so awkward and miserable when he realizes that he knows you and you don't know him, so his obsession with you would really grow in the dark of his room. Him looking at vampire dom/mes with glossy pleather boots and blood dripping down their bare chests and pretending that they are you. This would probably create a negative feedback loop where he says creepy things, you get a little weirded out and distance yourself, he craves your company and fantasizes about having it more, which makes him tell you creepy things about what he wants to do with you, which makes you distance yourself. He will eventually get jealous enough that he either locks you away from everyone else you talk to or he lashes out at you. He just wants to feel safe and wanted again. Whatever the cost.
(For Satan, we can just imagine it's earlier in his life when he's just learning about what feelings are vs. Later) Satan lowkey likes for his partner to take control, so wouldn't mind vampire darling being stronger as long as they don't tease him about it or flaunt it. In fact, i think he'd feel so much relief knowing that if he gets way too angry his darling isn't in danger, it would make him feel secure in a way he rarely does (read: in a way that he can grow addicted to). While one might expect him to read all he can about vampires to try and study them academically, I don't think Satan would actually look at vampire darling in that way. At first he just sees them as another creature in a world full of them, and by the time he feels gripped by the desire to know everything about them, he would already know a good amount about vampires.
With reincarnated MC, things would be awkward awkward awkward. Yandere!Satan will never know what to say or how to express himself around you, which would make him anxious as hell (read: angry). Because you'd always put him in a bad mood, I imagine your relationship with him would start as him bullying you because he hates that something about you always makes him act so odd. He'd also be so blindsighted that he would begin obsessively trying to learn about humans to get a better handle on the situation. If/when you submit to the bullying and let him have his way in all of your interactions, that is when you'll see the true yan tendencies start to appear. Now that you have accepted your place in the hierarchy, he can begin training you on other aspects of how he'd like you to behave.
NGL i am crying imagining reincarnated MC finally standing up to Satan and him just rolling over like a puppy because with vampire darling that was the way of things
Asmodeus is the ultimate switch so he would think a vampire darling that's stronger than him would be so fun to fuck. Trying to surprise and one up each other would be really arousing to him. But then the more mornings they spend together, cuddling and talking about nothing at all, the more he'd be entranced by them and want to spend more time with them (the more mornings they spend together). Meeting someone that felt superior to him in some way would make it so easy for him to get wrapped up in their relationship and grow comfortable with it.
Reincarnated MC fills an emptiness in Yandere!Asmodeus' life that he pretends he doesn't have, grief over losing vampire darling. He would likely be upfront that you are his reincarnated darling and that he wants to fall in love with you all over again; no reason to be shy since there's no one who can resist him, he's basically doing you a favor. If you say you don't want to be with him or he's scaring you or other "confused" things like that, it's fine: he doesn't mind persisting until you learn better than to say that you are not are in love with him. Eventually you will admit how you really feel, and he is willing to fuck you as many times as necessary to help you with your honesty :) Beelzebub would love a darling that's stronger than him because he'd want to train with them a lot. He isn't really competitive about his strength (yknow how in NB on the homescreen he compliments Diavolo on being strong and then says he wants to work out with him?) so he'd be really inspired by them. He doesn't see a really big difference between vampires and angels, except that maybe sometimes they'll need to borrow his blood? Imagine him really trying to eat as much as possible days before he knows vampire MC will want to drink his blood so he doesn't pass out and worry them. I can really imagine Yandere!Beelzebub meeting reincarnated MC, immediately treating you like vampire darling and hurting you by accident. He'd feel so, so guilty that he would stay by your side 24/7, and the entire time think about how fragile you are now and how easy it would be to hurt you. How you need him to protect you. At first, he'll just want to know where you're going, then he wants to walk you to and from every where you go, then he'll want to keep an eye on you 24/7, then he'll just want you to stay in his room where you're safe. Belphegor would be immediately delighted by a vampire darling, because he loves new experiences and people really different from himself hence why he loved visiting the human world so much. That difference from himself is what would make him more drawn to them than normal, almost to the point of fixation, but he'd be mostly manageable as an angel because of his milder personality. He doesn't mind vampire darling being stronger than him at all; he didn't particularly pride himself on his physical strength any way.
When reincarnated!MC shows up, Yandere!Belphegor would set up romantic dates between the two of you so he can refresh your memory of him, but he'll get frustrated pretty quick when it doesn't work as well as he wants it to and you don't fall as madly in love with him as he is with you. Belphegor is one of the most likely to express his obsession insisting on being cruel to you just to make you feel small and his. I think he'd express his frustration that things aren't easy between the two of you by trying to break you and make you cry, at least until he feels like you're taking him seriously. I hope you enjoyed!!! These asks together were so interesting to think about, and really picked my brain. Send in more asks, my ask box is growing empty!

Hey! Just wanted to ask if you have any headcanons abt ignia, zeref, and natsu being brothers👀
With Ignia that is a big ol no because I just don't like him lol. I don't care for anything introduced in the sequel and he's included in that🤣.
With regards to Zeref and Natsu however, weeeeellllll. I have mixed feelings on that plot point.
Like i was never big on Zeref and Natsu being brothers, I personally think it should've just been Natsu being Zeref's creation alone. That would be a spicy enough plot twist by itseld and neatly answer the zeref and natsu connection. Them being brothers kinda felt like too much on the pile y'know?
But, I don't completely hate it. It does add an interesting layer to connect the protag and our main villain plus interesting backstory and lore because for us the audience Natsu before Igneel was a mystery and this was an excellent opportunity to look into that as well as zeref's history as well. However i think the brother plot point in canon wasn't used to its full potential.
Like i said above it missed the moment to show history. What was ancient fiore like when they were kids? What killed baby Natsu? Did Zeref have to recreate a new body for Natsu from his dna or use the old one? Exactly how long was he at it to make Natsu? To make END?
The brother plot point is a huge source of some delicious conflict which couldve been dug a lil bit deeper from both parties.
On Zeref's side you have this guy who clearly loved his family. He went to all this trouble to bring back his brother after all. But! He only brought back his brother, his younger brother. Not even his parents. Why not bring back all of them? Why stop at one?
Questions my dear anon. Why only bring back your younger sibling? For control? The one member he had authority over. Why bind him to a book that you can easily manipulate?
And then after bringing back Natsu he tied his life to his own so if one goes they both go. And then he gave him to Igneel. There's just so much to unpack there. Zeref's love was twisted and dark and it rotted him.
Can you imagine seeing it from his side, working tirelessly through grief to try and bring back his family- maybe he intended to bring them all back- for who knows how long and his grief and determination morphs to obsession where instead of all he just brings back one. One that he's going to make sure sticks with him to the very end so when Zeref finally falls he won't fall and be alone like when he lost his family the first time.
And then on Natsu's side. Oh on Natsu's side. There is so much there that went unused. Learning that his life is tied to a fragile book, that Igneel knew. To know that you died and was brought back, that the guy who's pretty much responsible for almost all your friends' grief is not only your maker but the only living relative you have left.
How do you process that? How do you forgive if, you can forgive at all? It would've been a moment for Natsu to really question his ideals and think. For Natsu who was always so sure of his identity as Natsu Dragneel, Fairy Tail wizard and Son of Igneel to question himself at the core and for the main theme of friendship and found family to really shine through as chosen family comes face to face with blood family.
I know you asked for hcs and I went off track but there was a lot that could've been done with the brother plot line that could've really deepened a lot of stuff but instead only skimmed surface level and went the easy route of forgiveness after a fist fight which felt really hollow and underwhelming.
I dunno man I just have a lot of thoughts with regards to this 😅😅😅

Request are opeeeeeen yay
Oh, well, could you please do a comforting scenario with Belphie and a depressed MC that's usually very cheerful but not right now (y'know, because of✨ Seasonal depression✨) with a lot of fluff and love?
Thank you in advance, and thank you also for all the things you write! It is amazing!!!
Requests are not open, this is from last time. Also i love how you go to emo boy for seasonal depression haha
Warning: mentions of seasonal depression
As the Seasons Change (BELPHEGOR X GN!READER)
Tumblr media
As if life wasn’t already complicated enough as it is, it also just had to throw yearly change at you. The warm, fun, light, bright, and outdoors-y stuff was suddenly replaced by cold, long nights and tons of darkness. Now, for some people, this was great. Who doesn’t prefer shorter days and more sleep? But to people like you, this just put you into a spiral of moodiness. Everything that you looked forward to in Spring and Summer suddenly got taken away and it wasn’t… it just made you feel bad, you know? Things are dying, animals go into hibernation, and people are dressing more darkly. It’s almost as if the world decided to be emo for 6 months out of the year and as much as that is okay, it really isn't. You liked the sunshine and warm days with the softest of breezes. The beautiful flowers and trees and animals that come out to play. Of course, people also just seemed happier. It’s beautiful, to you. Besides, the Devildom already gave you a shock with its constant darkness but you somewhat got used to it, up until Diavolo decided that he needed to “keep up with the human realm” and decided to bring winter down here. So now instead of dark and hot as hell, it was dark and cold as hell. Seriously, it may not be affecting the demons too much but how did he think his two human and two angel exchange students would react?
Still, you can’t blame it all on Diavolo. The guy was trying to do something nice by bringing a little bit of human into the Devildom, probably forgetting that not all humans react the same way to sudden change and or dark and cold dynamics in general. Bottom line is, you were less than pleased. Your moods spun out of control ranging from sadness to anger to not feeling worthy. It was a confusing time and right now, the most you could feel was ‘okay’. “Lucifer, why don’t demons get weirded out by the sudden change in temperature?” You hoped that the eldest could give you some type of explanation or maybe even a little bit of sympathy so you didn’t think you were the only one, but he only shrugged. “Demons adapt easily. We have to, otherwise we’d be tormented by our own minds.” It wasn’t exactly the answer you were looking for and Lucifer could tell, but it didn’t take away from the fact that that was the only answer you would be getting out of him.
You hated this, genuinely. You even tried talking to Diavolo about it but it seemed to fly right over the guy’s head. “Haha isn’t this fun? I forgot what the cold feels like!” No, Diavolo, it’s not fun. Did you know that some people prefer the cold and get depressed over summer too??? No??? Well, then don’t assume! Of course, you didn’t say that to the Demon Lord because although he himself never scared you, you were terrified of what Barbatos may do had you disrespected the future King like that. You felt alone because even Solomon preferred the dark and although the angels are being of light, they didn’t seem to be affected much by this either. Was it just a human thing? Maybe just a you thing? The more you thought about it, the lonelier you felt and the brothers began to notice your change in behavior. How couldn’t they? They felt bad for you. Beel tried to cheer you up with food, which usually made you laugh, but now you’re just turning away from him.
Belphegor is the only one who somewhat seemed indifferent, although his looks at you lasted a little longer than usual. Usually you’d annoy him with your constant happiness and ability to jump around everywhere, so now that it’s gone, it’s weird that he actually kind of misses it. “Come cuddle with me.” “Belphie I do---!” But he didn’t even care. He just grabbed you and then dragged you up into the attic with him. That’s probably the most exercise he’s done in a while: dragging someone up the stairs, but it was worth it. Kinda. Maybe. “I didn’t ask. I told you.” You rolled your eyes at him because when does he ever ask? He just does his thing and seems endlessly happy with that, although something told you that was the biggest lie.
“I don’t want to cuddle.” Now he’s rolling his eyes, falling down onto the bed in the attic and holding out his arms to you. “Maybe you don’t want it, but you definitely need it. Stop fighting with me.” you groaned but gave in, falling down beside him, trying to keep at least some space between the two of you, but Belphie didn’t care and immediately rolled closer, putting his head on your chest. “Stroke my hair and tell me what’s wrong.” What? See this is why you and Belphie rarely ever hang out. He’s so demanding, so needy, and you swore he rivaled Leviathan at times. Levi would beg you to stay until you would, though, and Belphie would just have a death grip on you. Right now you didn’t know which was worse. “Belphie I don’t… I don’t want to.” “Fine then just hold me, but talk to me.” You sighed, wrapping your arms around him because that seemed like a fair compromise and he was already half on top of you so what’s the point of arguing?
“I just… my emotions are all over the place. I’m sad and then I’m angry. I get annoyed and then I get lonely… it’s because Diavolo changed the damn weather…” You felt stupid for saying that out loud and you could almost guarantee that Belphie thought the same thing, but he didn’t say anything, instead waiting for you to go on. “I just got used to the dark and the hot of the Devildom and now it’s… it’s dark and cold and it feels lonely and empty and I can’t cope with that. He did it to be ‘hip’ or whatever with the human world but he fails to realize that just because it happens naturally up there, doesn’t mean people like that.” “So you got seasonal depression.” You nodded, slowly beginning to let your fingers run over his back while he wrapped himself around you. Well, he more so climbed fully on top of you and snuggled his face into your neck. It tickled a bit so you managed to let out a little giggle, but it disappeared just as quickly.
“Yeah… I was… you know I could’ve gotten used to just having dark and hot all year around but then he goes and does this and I can’t feel happy right now… everything is just so sad and gloomy. Spring just started in the human world and yet Diavolo decides to start late and extend winter…” Belphie snorted, finding amusement in your words. He has his own opinions about his Demon Lord, including the fact that that guy is a huge himbo, but he could never voice that out loud. Not when he knows Lucifer lives under the same roof as him. “He sucks. But you know… this does give you an excuse to just lay with me all day.” And yes, he truly believes that’s a good thing. Why wouldn’t it be? No expectations, just sleep and cuddles. He pulls his head out of your neck and leans up a bit, kissing your forehead before looking at you. “Just stay with me. I can make you sleep until Lord Diavolo decides winter is done. He’s going to get tired of it sooner or later.”
You laughed softly at his proposal, shaking your head a bit. “I don’t know if you’re aware but humans need to eat and drink and you’d have me play sleeping beauty, meaning I’d die due to the lack of food and water in my body.” Belphie only shrugged, laying his head back down and snuggling closer. He was behaving like a baby right now, but a cute baby, who wouldn’t let you go. “I don’t see the issue, but suit yourself.” Of course the Avatar of Sloth wouldn’t see the issue. You rolled your eyes again and then poked his sides before holding him tightly. “You’re warm….” “I know.” Another eye roll but you also couldn’t help but smile. He’s such an idiot but at least you’re not alone right now. “Maybe I’ll take you up on that offer… for just a little bit.”
Belphie smiled into your neck, kissing it gently before closing his eyes, “I thought so.”

Hi can i have a hcs of being the older sister of vivi killer drake and katakuri who is nice and compasionate please-Sarah
I'm sorry this took... embarrassingly long to complete. And I'm not gonna lie, it was rather difficult for me to come up with good headcanons for this request. I'm really not proud of this one, but... hopefully you'll like it at least a bit, dear ^^'
Having a kind older sister headcanon
Nefeltari Vivi
Tumblr media
Vivi absolutely adores and looks up to you!
secretly, she wants to grow up to be just as much of an amazing and kind person as you are
however she can also be a bit of a brat and a little rebel from time to time; especially in her younger years she would often switch between wanting to be with you and wanting to be left alone in a matter of seconds
sometimes, when she's in an especially mischievious mood, she even goes as far as to hide from you on the palace grounds all day long
seeing how your mother died when you and your little sister were still pretty young, your dad Cobra was initially the one who tried to take on both parental roles and raise you to the best of his abilities; but since he's also the King of Alabasta and has a lot of responsibilities to take care of, it didn't quite work out in the long run. Thus you jumped in for him, taking on both a sisterly as well as a motherly role for Vivi as she was growing up
still, Cobra is extremely protective of his two girls and therefore you're rarely allowed to leave his sight or the palace. But that ain't stopping you from occasionally sneaking out in secret, and once Vivi is old enough to accompany you, you bring her along. Those little 'trips' later on fueled her desire to sneak out on her own and make friends with the other children in Alabasta
every evening, when it's time for bed, she sits down with you and proudly tells you about the things she did that day while you brush through her hair
although she's eager to share most of her hobbies and adventures with you, the one thing that Vivi is extremely cautious about is letting you meet her friends. Grown people aren't allowed in their club, so when she finally decides to introduce you to Koza and the rest, you have to promise not to tell anyone
you're the one person Vivi can confide in 100% and she knows that her secrets are always safe with you- even from Papa Cobra
so it's only natural that you were also the first person she told about her plans to infiltrate Baroque Works
and while Vivi is away on her secret mission, you make sure to help your little sis from the inside by delivering informations about the current situation in Alabasta. All while keeping up the facade of the good older princess who believes that Sir Crocodile is a hero, of course
when she finally comes back home with Luffy and the Strawhats, you do everything in your power to assist them in their plan to get the country back from the Warlord. With an all-out civil war right around the corner Vivi especially needs you as emotional support and counts on your wisdom to help with her decisions. You're her big sister after all, and if there's anyone she needs to have by her side while she's facing all of the coming chaos, it's you.
Killer
Tumblr media
you know those rebellious teenagers that are always like "Moooom, don't tell me what to do!!!!"? That's Killer, but in little brother form
he definitely doesn't like being coddled or looked after. Yes, he gets into fights and danger regularly, but it's normal. He doesn't need you to chew him out for it every time
despite that, he really really does love you though. Hence why he's occasionaly pushing you away- as pirate he's living a dangerous life, and he doesn't want his nice and sweet big sister to get caught up in it
his way of showing apprecation for you has always been a bit unusual, even back when he was young. One time, when you were still living together, Killer tried to surprise you by cooking your favorite food for your birthday; but he ended up setting your house on fire instead, forcing you to move again
when you were still children you would occasionally babysit your little brother as well as his best bud Kid, and things often got out of control when you three were together
especially the little redhead seemed to be in a rather provocative mood whenever you were around. Sometimes Kid would declare that you'll be his woman one day, which always ticked off Killer and caused him to start fights with his friend
even to this day, Killer still tries to keep you away from Kid. He adores his friend and captain, but also really doesn't want him to try and get flirty with you... again. That's just all kinds of wrong
it's not just Kid though, no one else in the crew is allowed to comment on your looks/attricteveness/whatever either, or they'll have to deal with a pretty mad Killer
nowadays he's a lot more relaxed when it comes to you and your presence around the crew though. From time to time he still berates or tells you that you are too friendly for your own good, but deep down he's appreciative of your caring nature and how you always treated him with kindness
one thing that never really changed is Killer's desire to cook by your side and show off all the things he learned within the past few years
you're the only person he feels the need to impress and who's criticism actually matters to him even if he accepts it with a scoff
X Drake
Tumblr media
although he's the younger sibling, Drake is actually the protective one. Because of your kind nature he's always afraid that someone might try to use you
he's pretty clingy as a kid, and it honestly doesn't change much as he's getting older
you were the one that took care of him after your father died, so naturally he's always been looking at you for guidance and comfort from a young age on
as a result you're the only person that can claim to know Drake 100%. He can't keep secrets from you either, sometimes it's even as if you know him better than he does
although he knows he can always come to you with his problems and secrets, Drake is pretty hesitant to do so. Scared that you might get dragged into his dangerous affairs, he heavy-hearted decides that it's for the best to keep you in the dark about his life as double-agent
although he feels a bit guilty to keep you in the dark about his affiliations, it does have some perks as well. Thanks to his job he was able to secure you a nice house in a calm (and most importantly, protected) living area that's close to his marine base
you could say it's his way of 'repaying' you for taking care of him for so long. Drake loves you and can't help but feel as if he's in your debt
as long as his job allows it he makes sure to visits you at least once or twice a month to make sure that you're doing good
during those visits he often thinks back to what your life used to be like when you were kids, and the mood quickly turns sober as he remembers his abusive father. That's usually when it's time for you to step in and change the topic
just ask Drake about his crushes or if there is a woman he's got his eyes on and he'll turn all sorts of red again lol
huh, maybe there is someone he's interested in. But he can't tell you because you'd probably just offer to help him win her over, which is bound to end in disaster...
instead of talking about his preferences when it comes to women he'd rather tell you about the new limited edition Germa action figure he managed to get his hands on! And boom- just like that, your little bro is in a better mood again
can you imagine how excited Drake would be to tell you about his encounter with Stealth Black tho...? You'd probably have to calm him down during the call so he won't hyperventilate lmao
Charlotte Katakuri
Tumblr media
much like Killer, Katakuri also doesn't like being coddled
back when you were young and still sailing around with the family, it was usually your and Perospero's unofficial job to look after the younger siblings while Big Mom was doing... y'know, pirate stuff
most of the kids were doing fine under your watch, but Katakuri always had a strong tendency to get in trouble. You would often scold him for starting fights with others and tell him that he shouldn't pay any mind to whatever insults they throw at him; unfortunately though he hardly ever listened
and after the incident with Brûlée, he completely isolated himself from everyone- including you. He also felt a tinge of guilt for not listening to your advice, since it might have kept his sister from getting hurt
it takes years, almost decades until Katakuri feels ready to open up again- and if it wasn't for how compassionate you were and that you never judged or pressured him, it might have taken even longer
eventually he tries to mend your relationship by inviting you to one of his meriendas, where you finally get the chance to talk about everything
from there on out you two slowly get reacquainted with one another and become friends again
and this time, he actually listens to your advice and takes it to heart
Katakuri still keeps up the appearance of the strong and cold older brother around the other siblings, but when he's with you he's more relaxed and sometimes even okay with talking about his pent-up frustration
whenever he returns from a mission he checks in with Mama first (that's obligatory) and then gets some donuts, pays you a visit to see how you've been holding up during the days he was gone, and explains what he's been up to
he's always looking out for you and whenever Mama suggests that it's time for you to marry some crazy psycho for the sake of an alliance, Katakuri would do everything in his powers to help you convince her that it was a bad idea
frankly Katakuri respects you more than his own mother and is very glad to have someone who doesn't put him on a pedestral or holds him to some insanely high standards. It makes him feel a bit more... human.

About Jaune ships...
I have opinions. You may not agree, but they are mine. They may change in time, but not now.
LANCASTER ( RUBY X JAUNE )
The old tried and true. I mean, what's not to like? Cute girl falls for first guy she meets at Beacon? Classic romance trope, and after reading how much Ruby loves romance stories (I consider certain parts in the manga canon), it makes sense. In fact, after Arkos sank (A moment of silence, please . . . Thank you), many moved to Lancaster, which isn't bad. Happens all the time in fandoms. Sad thing, though, is far I think she'll last. If we're talking Volume 5 or earlier, then maybe. However, I feel if Ruby were to have an endgame in romance, it would be RoseGarden (I have opinions on that as well, but today isn't the day to discuss that), mostly because Oscar bumped Jaune's role from male lead to male side. Not to mention that while Jaune is becoming a beast in his own right, Ruby is a different creature altogether and evolving her character more rapidly and chaotically than anyone else (Must be all that screentime).
TLDR: I want it to be canon, but I might just be hoping.
WHITE KNIGHT ( WEISS X JAUNE)
Doofus in tin foil meets princess who hates daddy (Am I in the romance section of the library? You know, the corner for adults only?) No, but I do like this ship. I'm always a sucker for the fantasy genre, and using a zero to hero male makes it relatable. I also kind of ship it because the same reason I ship NaruSaku in the Naruto fandom: he likes her and he's willing to go the distance. But enough about that; instead let's talk about canon. Will they hook up? It's a soft maybe for me, for two reasons. 1. Rosegarden is most likely to be endgame, and after Ruby and Pyrrha, I'd say Weiss is Jaune's next to be his love interest. 2. Weiss has warmed up to Jaune. Sure, not lover or crush level (Yet), but she's definitely changed her opinion on him. In Volume 1, Jaune was bugging her, like all the time, which I could see as him getting mixed signals on (Exhibit A: Tall, blonde, and scraggly). When Volume 5 came around, everyone jumped onboard because he saved her life (Don't lie, because I'll admit that I did it, too). Not the best reason, but still reason enough, I'd say. Then in Volume 7, she hangs out with him and Oscar to the movies (It was either that or awkward Bumbleby all night. I feel ya, sister). Nothing romantic happens, but it does show how much their relationship has developed. If Weiss is Jaune's endgame, then they have set the pieces up perfectly to do so.
TLDR: High likelihood to be canon and I'm a sucker for Knight/Princess ships.
KNIGHTSHADE ( BLAKE X JAUNE)
This is the part where I say definitely not. Not in a million years, but I'll explain why I like the ship, though. As for why it won't work, the answer is Bumbleby. They haven't kissed yet, but you know they're going to eventually (Because if they don't, the fans will attack like a swarm of hornets). But here's the question you might be asking now: why do I ship this? Well, it's part of the allure of "opposites attract" ('Cause I'm dressed like a cat!). Blake is an intelligent, outspoken, and agile ninja with a criminal history of terrorism who spends her free time reading novels. Jaune is a B at best on his tests, soft-hearted, and ground-based knight who's worst crime is fraud (Still a crime, but peanuts compared to literal terrorism) and spends his free time hanging out with his team. Day and night. But they also tried that with Sun for a season and a half and it didn't last (BECAUSE BEES).
TLDR: Not even a snowball's chance in the summer sun, but so much story potential if you do (Which I do)!
DRAGONSLAYER ( YANG X JAUNE )
This, I would say, is the opposite of Knightshade, where Jaune is the day and Blake is night, here Yang is the Sun and Jaune is the Moon (Like their crests! Remember those? Y'know, when they were relevant?) Will it work? Even less so than Knightshade. However, it does open up some interesting paths considering how... provocative Yang can be, and Jaune, compared to the other guys, is the nerdiest, geekiest dude at Beacon. It's like the cheerleader/nerd romance, except the cheerleader is the captain of every sports team... and rides a motorcycle. The Volume 8 preview introduced us to Yang and Jaune riding motorcycles and we went nuts over it. Yang was back in her element, roaring down the street, riding on walls, popping off tricks with Oscar riding- Back to what I was saying, people were asking, "How did he know how to ride a motorcycle?" and the elementary answer is "He didn't." He almost fell off his bike from a small box in the road. True, anyone would, but look at how he reacts: he stiffens, he refocuses on the road. This kid literally started riding at breakfast, and I DARE you to prove me wrong. But hey, great fic material right there, though, eh?
TLDR: Never gonna happen, but I don't care. All I care about is writing that they love each other. And they also fu-!
ARKOS ( PYRRHA X JAUNE )
I'm sorry, I need a moment. . . . Alright. Do it for her. This ship... was perfect. Probably the best ship out them all. I legit almost cry every time I think about Volume 3. Pyrrha was everyone's favorite. Her background, her interactions, her choreography, everything! But, of course, like everything in our lives, she was too good to be true. But let's honor her memory by talking about her ship, Arkos. Pyrrha was the champion of the world, the Brothers' and Oums' gift to Remnant. She could do no wrong and she HATED it. Her plight was with how she was seen. Everybody knew her! Everybody, except Jaune. And he only figured out she was "a big deal" was because Weiss had to spell it out for him! As time went on, they became the best of friends, two peas in a pod, the perfect odd couple! They worked together and trusted each other, they cared for and supported each other, they lo- No. No, I can't say it. It's been years, and it still hurts. So, I'll explain something else: the reason why Jaune SHOULD NOT be shipped right now. That reason is Pyrrha. Jaune was helpless to save her. He's suffering from survivor's guilt and he's still grieving. In Volume 4, he would sneak away and train until late at night to scroll recording of her. In Volume 5, he confronted Cinder and got Weiss almost killed because he let his grief for Pyrrha take control of him and let his emotions run wild. In Volume 6, he finds the Pyrrha statue and he... I don't know how to say this, but he let's go. He accepts that Pyrrha is gone and he's starting the healing process. He's finally ready to move forward.
TLDR: T.T I never felt that it was wise to wish too much~
MARTIAL ARCS ( REN X JAUNE)
I'll be honest, I don't really ship it. Yeah, it's cute, and it falls perfectly into the "if I had to pick a guy" part of me, but to be honest, I don't ship it. 10% because Renora and 90% it just doesn't click with me. They both just seem too soft, too quiet, too introverted. Best friends? Yes, definitely! But lovers? Eeeeeh, not really.
TLDR: I will only ship as neccessary.
NORA'S ARC ( NORA X JAUNE )
I've only just got in this deep with the fandom only recently, so I don't know if a lot of you know me. Heck, I'm probably just some RWBY fan you happen to spot as you move through your dash. However, old or new, I want to be made absolutely positively clear on this. Of all the ships here, this has got to be my-
O T FUDGIN' P
Wow! Never thought I'd feel so strongly about a crack ship like this. And yes, as sad it is to say, this is a crack ship. Renora was planned from day one, so it can't be helped. At least it didn't blast me in the face all of the sudden (OH NO, NOT THE BEES! AAAAARGH! THEY'RE IN MY EYES!). But why this ship? Well, for one thing, it's that whole opposites attract thing with Nora as the bubbly, outspoken, airhead powerhouse and Jaune as the soft spoken, introverted, nerd tactician. But wait, there's more to this trope, because it can go deeper: Order VS Chaos! Who makes all the messes? Who cleans up those messes? Who follows all the rules? Who makes their own doors? It's just. So. Damn! GOOD! One sad thing about this ship though is that it's not only not canon because of Renora, it's anti-canon because Renora. Every fan fic of Nora's Arc requires an explanation for Ren and Nora to not be together-together, like you have to write a formal apology to the FNDM for liking something that's different from what is canon or commonly accepted. If that's the case, then I'll be the anarchist here!
TLDR: I LOVE IT! What's that? Not canon? Who gives a damn?! I just explained why Jaune won't be shipped anyways! Now, if you'll excuse, I have some fan fics to find.
ARCFALL ( CINDER X JAUNE )
Oh, here it goes! Now, if we're talking ships that'll never happen, this is where we find better reasons than "it's not canon" and "character development". No, this... This is a declaration of war. Allow me to explain. Cinder Fall is evil. Like, down to her core. She wants power and she'll cut through anyone to get to it. Including Pyrrha. This woman sank Arkos by means other than "X and Y kissed, so..." She killed X, leaving Y alone. And her interactions with Jaune tell me she wouldn't even be worth a hate-bang. But, as Momma always, there's a thin line between love and hate. This is where the appeal comes in. Cinder is evil with no past, which leaves the previous chapter's of her life story blank to be filled in. Jaune is good with a troublesome, albeit easy past, but untapped potential for more. It's another opposites attract, but different from INTRO VS EXTRO and CHAOS VS ORDER; this is GOOD VS EVIL. Who will win this battle of wills; will our hero purify the tainted heart, or will he slip deeper into darkness, never to return to the light?
TLDR: Should be a NOTP, and yet the allure pulls me in.
What do y'all think? Do you agree? Let me know!

The Day Started in a Cell
Summary: Virgil knew he might be swapping with his soulmate soon. The day had been coming up. He still didn’t expect to wake up in the cell of a police station and only hoped Patton would be okay meeting his soulmate when he went around to check on them.
Warning: spider mention, breaking in
/\/\
Virgil had woken up from sleepwalking in all manner of places, but usually that was confined to his own home and during times when he was stressed. The only thing Virgil had to be stressing about currently was the chance he'd swap places with his soulmate today.
Hopefully the swap taking place was the true reason for where Virgil found himself, because the room he woke up in could only be described as a cell. There was too much noise outside the room for it to be an actual prison though so he was fairly confident this was a police station holding cell, with only the lack of any others being kept in there with him casting doubt on that.
It wasn't sensible to ask though. Everyone knew if the soulmate swap occurred while someone was arrested the force would not treat them kindly and could use everything to arrest both soulmates under the charge of assisting with an escape. Even if Virgil had no context for who he now had the body of, he wasn't going to mention it.
The morning passed smoothly, Virgil managing to learn that his soulmate was called Remus Dolally and he'd been apprehended on suspicion of vandalism. Since the station hadn't got enough evidence to charge him that day they were just waiting for a relative to pick him up. How the police already knew the number for one of Remus's relatives Virgil decided not to ask, but hoped he'd be able to once they arrived.
“Remus, your brother's here. Get out and actually stop getting arrested this time, or I'll make sure you go to jail for your next offence.” One of the sergeants ordered opening the cell door and waving down the hallway.
Nodding, Virgil hurried through, immediately looking at the person near the desk in concern.
“Remus, one of these days I'll decide being your brother is more trouble than it's worth.” The man sighed, shaking his head for a moment and leaning down to sign a form before turning to leave. “Let's get you home.”
Staying quiet and following what was said had kept Virgil safe so far so he just carried on following, getting into the car, Remus's brother unlocked.
Only once they were both in, with seatbelts done up did Roman look at him again. “Remus would never be this quiet. Are you his soulmate?”
“Yes? I'm Virgil. Does he do this often?” Virgil squeaked out, sure he could get in trouble for admitting it.
“More often than I'd like, but usually his chaos is harmless. I'm Roman, by the way.” With the introduction said Roman started the car and pulled away. “If I was in your position I'd have been asking a million questions the second someone got me out of the cell.”
Virgil nodded after a second. He'd been frowning out the window, trying to confirm where he was since some of the landmarks were recognisable. “Sorry, just trying to remember where this is. It's definitely a town close to mine but I'm not sure which.”
“It's Anstey. Does that mean my brother is likely to turn up here a-” Roman's question broke off as they turned a corner. Virgil could see Patton's car parked outside a house not far along the road, and given his morning, could only assume that it was his bum sticking out of a window on top of the porch.
“Well I did ask Patton to pop over in case I did swap with my soulmate on my birthday.” Virgil muttered, beginning to wonder just what his soulmate would be doing next.
He didn't have long to think though since Roman was storming out of the car the instant he'd put it into park. “Remus Dolally get the hell down from the roof and if you've broken that window then you are either paying for it, or paint purely to sell until it's paid for! Do you know what you've put me through this morning? What you've put your soulmate through?” He screamed up at Virgil's body, getting Patton to come shuffling over.
“Hey Pat, I'm guessing you've had as interesting a morning as I have.” Virgil muttered, still watching the brothers and just hoping he wouldn't be injured when their bodies swapped back.
“Kiddo thought I rescued him from police cells and then locked himself in your bathroom for ages before even thinking to ask where we were.” Patton nodded. He looked a bit shaken and very stunned just thinking through how the morning had gone. “Far be it from me to criticise your soulmate, but he's either a pervert or just completely lacking any impulse control at all.”
Virgil snorted. “Wow, must have made a really bad impression. That's the closest I've heard you get to criticism in a while. How long were you here before he decided to break in?”
“As soon as he opened the door of the car he was climbing onto the roof. Did you really wake up in cells?” Patton asked but when Virgil went to reply his name was called by his own voice.
Roman hadn't gotten Remus off the roof yet, but had got him to the edge, which if he'd remained upright would have been good. Instead Virgil was now looking at himself, hanging upside down off a roof and feeling the chances that he'd be uninjured by midnight reducing every minute. “If you're so upset with me being your soulmate your going to risk my life with stupid stunts I'll go do something you'll definitely get a life sentence for.” He snapped, hurrying over and glaring up at Remus.
“Beautiful, I'm just doing what I do, and it ain't going to kill you. I need to hear some of the noises this body makes from the outside before I'd allow that. Trust me, I already know the best ways I can pleasure you.” The leer was almost enough to make Virgil ignore it would only hurt him in the end to throw something at him.
“So far I've woken up in a cell, had to have your brother get me out and then found you trying to break into your own home. What is there meant to convince me to let there be any kind of relationship between us, never mind whatever depraved acts you're thinking of?” Virgil hissed up, not caring if the words would be heard or not.
The question and glare must have been enough to convince Remus to at least back off for a while since he was flipping to be upright and actually climb down off the roof finally. “I'm guessing the soulmates thing isn't as much of a motivation for you as it would be for Roman? You've got a good spark though, telling me off just gets me all shimmery. You know I'm Remus already then?”
“Der. I wasn't going to say anything when I woke up in that cell and given it was empty except for me, pretty obvious who the officers meant, Dolally.” Virgil snapped, rolling his eyes when all the reaction he got was a shimmer bringing Remus that bit closer to him.
The move did make Virgil smirk though. Now he could be certain that he actually was taller than his soulmate. That would be very useful once they swapped back, especially if he had to prevent Remus from climbing onto roofs at some point. “I'm Virgil and as soon as that body is mine again, your days of breaking into places are numbered.” He pointed out.
“Meh, it's the least interesting mischief I can get into. Come on in and I'll share my plans for world domination with you.” Remus reached forward and grabbed his wrist before he could move it back.
“Why does this feel like I'm being recruited to make sure you don't get killed or incarcerated? I already have anxiety, how is having you for a soulmate meant to help that?” Virgil protested but didn't actually fight being pulled in. He was mostly being dramatic because a glance backwards showed Patton still looking uncomfortable and concerned.
Roman had headed over to talk to him now though, so hopefully he'd be able to comfort him a little. He'd even unlocked the door already so Remus didn't have an excuse to try breaking in again either.
Remus was cackling as he pulled them through the house. “I was born with the intent to cause problems on purpose and that includes for you. Hope you don't mind spiders. They're the octopuses of the land and we can't in good conscious keep an octopus as a pet!”
The declaration turned yell at least had Virgil expecting it when he saw a tarantula roaming freely in a fenced off corner of the room. “Spiders are brilliant. Just don't let Patton up here. He's got a phobia. What's this guy called?” He asked, crouching down to look a little closer at the enclosure.
“Tarantuknife. I'm still working on getting him to attack or shove knives at people though. He will hiss as police badges. Down with the police state, y'know.” Remus shrugged, throwing himself on his bed while Virgil looked around.
“Fine, you've got me interested enough to see where knowing you leads.” Virgil decided after a while of looking around again, seeing some delightfully dark artwork and even more things to look after Tarantuknife than he'd originally spotted.
Remus bounced up at that, beaming. “Good cause I think some of my plans to keep you from leaving would have your friend trying to call the police on me again.”
“Nah, he wouldn't do that unless I asked. We hate the police too, wouldn't call them on my worst enemy unless they really did something extremely bad.” Virgil waved off the words, sitting on the edge of the bed and trying to ignore the fact it was still bouncing with Remus's movements.
“So what actually increases your anxiety to really bad amounts, and what are others able to do to help?” Remus asked, diverting the conversation from where Virgil had thought it would go.
At the genuinely interested and hopeful look he began to explain anyway, mentally wondering if it was because he wasn't currently in his own body that so far today he hadn't panicked at all, despite everything that had happened.

Subscorp Week - Day Three - AU
The tea tray was placed on the coffee table outside with a resounding  thud  that seemed a bit angrier for the boy than what was typical. Kuai Liang knew Satoshi long enough now to understand that he was much more easy-going than his father - and significantly better at controlling and maintaining his anger, for that matter. Still, Kuai Liang pointedly ignored the quiet outburst to push the bandages and other medical supplies away to pour himself some tea. He brought it to his lips to blow at it, using his winter chill to cool the beverage until it was a suitable temperature, as they sat on the outer porch, watching fireflies blink in and out of the evening darkness.
"I'm thinking of sending you back to the land of the living."
Kuai Liang nearly choked on the tea as Satoshi plopped down in the seat next to them, "I'm sorry?"
"I'm thinking of sending you back to the land of the living," he repeated. Kuai Liang glanced down and realized that within his fist was the kunai from a few days past. He kept it, in the end, and kept fidgeting the sharp end between his fingers.
He slowly lowered his cup into his lap. "And what if I refuse?"
He could sense Satoshi giving him a disbelieving look under the dim light. "Why the bloody fuck would you want to refuse? You're not even supposed to be here with us in the first place."
"Thanks to you," Kuai Liang noted plainly.
"Oh shut it Uncle. You know damn well why I brought you here."
"Well?" he gently asked, "Do you think I've told you everything you've wanted to know about your father?"
Satoshi inhaled sharply through his nose, "No. But if I were you I would take the advantage of the fact that you're not completely dead to book it out of here. It's not worth the risk of the Shirai Ryu getting to you in the afterlife to ruin your chances of life  down there ."
"And the Tragedian?" Kuai Liang brought up before sipping on his tea, "She won't give up easily. It is likely she will turn to you for retribution if she cannot reach me anymore."
"We Gatekeepers can handle her," Satoshi said.
"Can you?"
Satoshi's hesitance to answer him was telling.
"The Tragedian is my responsibility. Her death is my fault. I won't have you suffer from the consequences of my actions, even if it was when I was a Revenant," Kuai Liang stated, and Satoshi understood from his tone that there was no room for argument.
"Fine," Satoshi relented, throwing himself back to lean against the backrest. He sighed loudly before Kuai Liang handed him the other cup of green tea, which Satoshi quietly accepted.
"I almost can't believe the Shirai Ryu are now a part of this."
Satoshi kept fidgeting the sharp end of the kunai between his fingers. Kuai Liang's blood had long been washed off, but he still felt like there was a shade of red still lingering on the metal. Satoshi knew it was just his imagination, like a phantom pain that isn't really there but still somehow can't be ignored. Satoshi felt too much like his past catching up to him, even though he was never personally involved in the first place - at least of his own volition.
"How is it that you are not with them?"
Satoshi sighed and put the kunai down. "Mom moved away from them when I was young. Probably because she didn't feel we were safe in the goddamn afterlife of all places? But then again wouldn't the safest place be surrounded by an army of assassins?"
Kuai Liang stared blankly into the distance. "That didn't save all of you the day you died."
"…I guess not."
Perhaps it was a bit too much. This was supposed to be a fun little adventure, albeit one entirely made on impulse, but every new day with Kuai Liang here only brought more questions than answers and more dangers than the ones he's used to as a Gatekeeper.
Kuai Liang frowned, "Satoshi, did… you know the Shirai Ryu was wiped out a second time?"
"Yeah," he nodded, "I know. They're not here in the afterlife though."
"Really?"
The boy gave Kuai Liang a curious look, "Y'know, I'm actually surprised that you haven't noticed, but, I'm supposed to be older than Takeda, and I'm not."
"Hm." Kuai Liang did notice. Although, he thought with amusement, he had just thought Satoshi was simply born shorter than Takeda… Or Hanzo for that matter.
"Ever since the first massacre, the Undertakers have avoided the Shirai Ryu like the plague. 'No amount of willpower can save a dying body'. And Father apparently returned to life from sheer rage alone. The Undertakers fear people who can just return to life like that."
"That's true." Though there was more to that story, that he figured, that would be for another time.
"That should have been their first warning. When the Shirai Ryu arrived here, the Weavers didn't immediately bring us to life. They said, my mother used to tell me, that there was a chance that my father could have brought us back to life. So, we were in stasis for a few years, and then," Satoshi wrung his hands, "Father failed. And we then woke up here. And the Undertakers didn't dare touch anything near the Shirai Ryu… and also the Lin Kuei, for that matter."
Kuai Liang frowned slightly in realization, "Raiden's offer…"
This time it was Satoshi's turn to look confused, "What?"
"Your father, he killed my brother," Kuai Liang turned but didn't look him in the eye, "Raiden said he could have restored the Shirai Ryu if my brother was spared."
Satoshi stared at him in disbelief for a moment. "Jesus," Satoshi breathed out, "The way my mother said it, she made it sound like he needed to fight some god not…" He made a tight, frustrated noise, "not… spare someone."
"I, too, would have preferred to not have him kill my brother but, well, we all live with our mistakes," Kuai Liang leaned forward to pour himself of the remaining tea to hide his grimace, "He regrets it to this day. He regrets what he did as Scorpion."
Satoshi leaned back into his seat, contemplating, "Uncle, I need your honest opinion on something."
"Which is?"
"Do you think my father is a good person?"
The question seemed so sudden that it stunned Kuai Liang into silence. "You know I would say yes," he started slowly, "so why ask me?"
"I believe you have the, uh, most objective view of him."
Kuai made a disbelieving noise, "I wouldn't love him if he weren't a good person."
"Well so would my mother," Satoshi answered, "But Mother made it sound like my father was the most noble and honorable samurai in all the worlds, instead of a  shinobi ."
"And how am I different from your mother?"
"Well," he started slowly, "The difference is that you were enemies with my father for a duration of time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, you hated him more than anything for a short while. I would assume that means you understood his flaws better than anyone else."
"Then what else is there to say? His own rage was his downfall, but," Kuai Liang pondered briefly what to say next, "He'd fought for vengeance. He'd made mistakes and fell to corruption, but made full use of the second chance granted to him. He rights his wrongs and rebuilds the old clan he lost. He's an honorable man committed to his principles."
"Hm. I used to think that. That we were honorable - they were honorable."
"Were they not?"
"Uncle, I didn't think I would need to remind you of this, but the Shirai Ryu was a clan of assassins," Satoshi said with some disdain, "The only difference between them and the old Lin Kuei was that they treated us as family instead of utter shit. But that doesn't excuse the fact they still killed  for a living. Christ, my father was sent to steal an important relic, client be damned."
Kuai Liang winced, not because he couldn't come up with a suitable counter, but at the sudden memory that Hanzo ended up dying at his brother's hands at that mission. And then the Shirai Ryu were wiped out not soon after.
"He's not the man he used to be," Kuai Liang insisted, "You know the Shirai Ryu has been reformed to the defense of Earthrealm. He takes in people of all walks of life, and gives them a home, and your father would have walked through hell and back to protect his family. Including me."
Satoshi sighed. "I guess you have a point. It just really irks me how you have renounced the sins of your old clan, but…" he cast a sideways glance onto the kunai on the coffee table, "But my father hasn't done the same. Not to my knowledge anyways."
"Perhaps not," he conceited, "Your father and I, we both killed innocent people, but he had a choice to decide who to devote his efforts toward. You have to understand that everything he does, he does for his family. Every good deed and every failure he committed was for you. He wanted to protect you, to avenge you. He - maybe he wasn't a good man by the Tragedian's standards, but I know he would have been a good father."

Chapter Two - Invisible Hearts
Hey folks- back with another chapter!
T/W - mentions of underage drug use
Previous Chapter:
Chapter One
Word Count: 844
Tumblr media
2006, 17 year olds
Klaus Hargreeves was surely unsure of how to handle Y/n, especially in the state of a man who's high out of his mind on pills he found on the streets. He wasn't in a place where he could adequately comfort someone, but Klaus had to for Y/n, or he feared no one else would.  Klaus had spent much of his life running away from things that scared him, including such intimacy as this.
He had spent most of his life up until this point chasing after happiness. He found his solace in drugs, and for one day in his life, he was going to stop- just for Y/n. Y/n had been stuck invisible for a week. He hadn't exactly seen them in that whole time. Once or twice for an attempted dinner with the family, then back to their room they went. For sulking purposes, he figured.
There was only one other time that he could remember Y/n like this, almost two years ago when Ben had died. Except it was more flickering back and forth than staying stagnant. In Klaus' mind, it was now his duty to figure out why Y/n was upset, and how to change them back.
He crept along the vast hallways, practically tripping on his own two feet. The house was black, and even the moon could not give it light tonight. Everyone had been sent to bed early, as there was one less mouth to feed at dinner, it went by quicker. Of course, there was the oddball question from Diego, and in response, a concerned yet agreeable nod from Luther. Even Grace was worried about Y/n's absence. When Ben had died, they had never disappeared- and if they did, never for this long.
Klaus eventually finds his way to their door. It was the only room in the house without the light on(beside's his, of course). It was remarkable he had ever found it. He thought, perhaps, that one of the thousand times he had gone there, that he had memorized the way. He waved it off as silly, marking it as more luck than anything else.
He knocks gently at their door. As he expected, they do not answer. Though what worries Klaus, is he can't hear any noise behind the door. No sniffling, no crying, only quiet. He can feel his heartbeat slow, as he twists the doorknob. He's met with the same darkness as the rest of the house.
Sighing, he lays himself on their bed. He stares at the ceiling, wringing his hands to ease the evergrowing knot in his stomach. A whistling sigh rouses him from his coming sleep. "I'm sorry," they murmur.
"I know," Klaus admits, "but it's not your fault."
"But I'm also seventeen, and I barely know how to control these damn things."
"I can't either."
"Yeah, well, maybe if you weren't so stoned all the time, you'd be able to do it." Y/n puffs out. The two sit quietly. Y/n finally twists to view Klaus, his eyes are glazed over, but not red. He's trying, they think, and they're at it again. "Y'know, I didn't mean it." They turn back again, glancing behind them now and again. "Well, partially. I didn't mean it a hundred percent."
"No, no, I need to get my act together." They don't respond this time, believing the best option was not to aggravate Klaus but try to be there for him. For once. "I-I will," he whines.
"I know," Y/n begins, voice wavering, "I know."
They way they talk has Klaus feeling ashamed for them, he must be such an awful brother.
"Klaus, I know you're going through so much, but we all are, and I won't always be here to get you through. Past few weeks have been a good example of that. I'm fucked up, too. I can barely get through my own shit, and I don't want to lead you down my path."
Klaus jolts up, shifting to face you, his brows furrow, his lips quiver, and he looks teary-eyed.
"Please don't say anything, Klaus. You're upset, too, I get that. I only want to sit in silence a little longer."
"Okay," he whimpers out. Klaus knew he had failed his mission as a brother and a friend. They were pushing him away again. He was going to leave at the end of the year, and he couldn't even have this one small victory. He eventually left the room, staying outside, waiting by their door just in case. He could hear soft crying for a while, but they stopped, and he went back to his room.
Y/n had finally come out of their room that morning, surprising everyone, perhaps Reginald was the only one who wasn't. Even Klaus, who tried to coax them out, and tried to comfort, never expected them to leave their bed- not after last night. Y/n spent the rest of that week avoiding Klaus, doing everything that they thought would help him, in the long run. They would remind themselves that every time they looked away.

Star sat on the floor with her young cousins watching as they played together with their toys, trying to fight back a yawn as exhaustion threatened to take over. It had been a very long day for her. After Marco and Janna had left for their "camping trip," Star and Jackie had spent a couple of hours playing and entertaining Daisy and Violet, trying to distract them from their pestering thoughts and questions about where the others had gone off to.
That was until the blond had been whisked away by a group of servants, telling her that the princes and princesses had arrived for their meeting. That had let to a strenuous few hours of peace talks (it seemed Star's Free Travel Act had done the trick on calming many of the more violent Monster's fears, giving them more free reign to come and go as they pleased in the other kingdoms all except the stubborn Johansen's but Star and Rocky were starting to get them to crack), dodging bits of pudding sent her way by the messy Glossaryk, and, of course, Pony Head's long-winded speech about how she was the prettiest member, leading to everyone collectively agreeing she was just to get her to finally stop.
But that had hardly been the end of it, practically the moment Star called the meeting to adjourn, Violet and Daisy had appeared (almost as if they had been waiting in the shadows for her this whole time) jumping in her lap and telling her to come play with them. Before the blond royal could even think to decline, they had each grabbed onto a hand and pulled her out of her chair, eagerly dragged her out of the room and straight into theirs. They had picked up their game right where they had left off which Star spent the rest of the day finishing with them. Jackie had joined in at some point (Star really couldn't say when) and had been happy and eager to play along with the three Butterfly's.
Now it was all Star could do to stay awake, her eyes threatening to close at any moment. The only thing keeping her going at this point were thoughts about Marco, wondering where he was and what he was doing. She'd be lying if she said she didn't miss him terribly and the only good thing about staying busy was that it kept her mind off of her boyfriend and friend's escapade into the unknown.
Still, despite her efforts, Star felt her mind beginning to drift, her body leaning heavily against Jackie, who sat on the floor beside her. "Star!" came a tiny yell and the blond royal sat up straight, snorting once as she was forcefully pulled from her sleep. She looked over with droopy eyes as the twins glared at her, Daisy shouting, "You're supposed to be helping us save the princess from the ferocious dragon!"
"Oh right," Star said, yawning into her hand. "Where were we again?"
"The princess was locked in the tower after being poisoned by the dark mage," Violet explained quickly.
"Dark mage?" Star repeated in confusion.
"Yeah, y'know Star, the one with the magic ball that can see the future," Jackie pitched in helpfully, giving Star an encouraging glance.
"Ah yes, that dark mage," Star said with a nod, trying to hide her smile.
"Okay than Star you can beeee..." Violet began, rifling through their toys for one that fit her cousin, frowning in concentration.
That was until they heard the dreaded call. "Girls, it's time for bed." Star and Jackie looked over to see Lily standing in the doorway, only to jump in surprise as the twins began to whine loudly.
"But moooommm," Violet cried. "We're in the middle of our game."
"Well you can finish it tomorrow," Lily replied, her face neutral despite her two grumbling childrens' best efforts to break her.
"But we won't remember where we're at," Daisy said, giving her mom a pouting look.
"Well I'm sorry but bedtime is bedtime," their mother stated fairly, showing zero signs of changing her mind on said subject. "Now go brush your teeth and get ready."
The two rose reluctantly, angrily stomping out of the room, still mumbling things about how unfair their mother was or how stupid bedtimes were. Star had been watching quietly, not wanting to risk jeopardizing her aunt's efforts, that was until she heard little Daisy whisper, "This stinks, Marco's not even here for our bedtime story."
This caused Star to pause, her mind wandering to her boyfriend for just an instant, and without thinking, she rose to her feet and said, "I could do the bedtime story tonight, y'know since Marco's not here to do it."
Everyone in the room turned to Star in surprise at this statement, but the girls quickly asked in elation, "Really?!"
"You promise?" Daisy added a second later.
"Sure, why not?" Star said with a confident shrug. "But you have to get ready super quick or I won't be able to."
The girls let out a cheer before racing down the hall to the bathroom, not wanting to miss out on an opportunity like this.
Lily watched her daughters go, before turning to Star with a worried frown. "Are you sure about this, Star?" Lily asked as she looked her niece up and down. "You look awfully tired."
"Aw, I'm fine," Star said with a wave of her hand, ignoring the stiffness in her body at the sudden motion. Or the fact that her brain was trying to desperately shut down for the night. A promise was a promise and she didn't break those, no matter what. "I can handle a simple bedtime story. How hard could it be?"
Star watched as Lily finished tucking Daisy and Violet into bed: kissing them on the forehead, pulling the sheets up to their chins, brushing the hair out of their eyes, the whole works, all the while, the blond was doing her best to look awake and alert, despite not feeling either. She made sure to sit up straight in her chair in the hopes this would somehow convince her aunt. Jackie sat beside her, her body facing backward on the chair with her head resting on its back as she watched the mother-daughter moment silently. If Jackie was tired, she didn't show it, her eyes full of energy and radiance even at this moment, but Star thought she could spot her friend's body drooping just a little bit more than usual.
Once Lily was done, she said softly to the girls, "Goodnight, my darlings. Behave yourselves for Star."
"Night mom," Daisy and Violet replied in soft mutters, sounding like they were already half-asleep.
Star smiled as she watched Lily exit the room, closing the door softly behind her. See, she told herself. Nothing to worry about. I'll be lucky to make it through one book before they're asleep.
The moment the door was shut though, the girls sprang up from the bed, instantly ruining their mother's efforts to tuck them in, bright and (more importantly) energetic smiles on their faces. Daisy hopped off the top bunk, using the side railing to help fling herself onto her sister's bed, landing on the soft mattress with a giggle. The two began jumping on the bottom bunk while chanting, "Story! Story! Story!"
Star's mouth dropped open, unable to believe the girls could have so much energy this close to bedtime, while her mind simply commented, Or maybe not. But luckily for her, Jackie was able to regain control of the situation. "Girls, if you don't calm down Star might not want to read to you two tonight," she said simply and the two instantly ceased their jumping. They laid back down on the bed, side by side, and now facing toward Star, their heads propped up on their elbows and their little legs kicking behind them. "Okay, we're ready," Violet said in a barely contained shout.
Star stared at the girls blankly for a second, until she felt a tap on her shoulder from Jackie and quickly snapped out of her stupor with a shake of her head. "Oh right," the blond royal said, bending down to look through the books she had grabbed from the shelf beforehand. "So what would you guys like to hear? We've got 'The Princess and the Peacock' or 'The Littlest Piggoat'. Oh here's one of my favorites from when I was a kid, 'The Year the Stump Stood Still'!"
"Star, Big Brother doesn't read us a bedtime story," Violet stated as if it were obvious.
"He doesn't?" Star asked, looking up at the two with confusion.
The girls shook their heads. "No. He tells us a bedtime story," Violet replied.
"Wait, he does," Star said
"Yep!" Daisy said with bright enthusiasm. "Big Brother's the best at bedtimes stories!"
Star wasn't too surprised by that. Marco was the best at everything he did, always putting his heart and soul into every task. But while normally she admired that quality about him, she now realized just how difficult it was going to be to try and take his place. How could she possibly follow in his footsteps when he was most likely leagues ahead of her on the story game? Especially since she had never done anything like that before. But she knew she needed to say something so she asked, nervously, "Okay, um, well, how does Marco usually start?"
"Once upon a time," the twins said as one.
"Right, uh, 'Once upon a time...'" Star began hesitantly, looking over to Jackie for help, but the skater girl just shrugged, mouthing, 'Make something up'.
"Once upon a time," the blond royal repeated, biting her lip as she looked around for any idea of what to say next. Her eyes landed on the small dragon toy sitting on the floor and she said immediately, "Once upon a time there were dragons."
The twins shared a look, before Violet asked, "Dragons?"
"Yes. Hundreds of dragons who lived in mountains and volcano," Star said, thinking on her feet.
"Were they nice dragons?" Daisy asked curiously.
"Uh yes, they were very, very nice dragons." The blond royal paused as she saw Violet starting to look bored, rolling her eyes. "All... except one."
This gained the creepy child's attention as she instantly perked up and stared at her cousin with a curious expression and Star felt a spark of inspiration, wanting to keep their interest longer, saying in a dramatic tone, "A horrible, bad dragon who would go around burning down people's houses and villages. The people hated the bad dragon but he was too powerful for them to stop."
"What a meanie!" Daisy shouted, her cheeks puffing up in anger.
"Why didn't the other good dragons stop him?" Violet asked.
"Because they were afraid of the bad dragon," Star explained, growing more and more confident with her story as it went on."But one day while one of the good dragons was out flying, he found something..."
"What? What did he find?" Daisy and Violet asked as one, their cheek marks glowing more than usual.
Star smiled confidently, knowing she had the two right where she wanted them, saying softly, "A young boy."
The dragon was in the middle of his morning flight, enjoying the cool morning breeze brushing against his scales as he soared through the endless blue sky, when he heard a cry from the world below. The dragon curious what the sound was began circling the area, listening intensely for any further sounds. After a few seconds, more cries were carried up to him by the wind as if warning him something was wrong and begging for his help. The dragon feeling his heart go out to whoever was in need decided to fly down and see what was making all the racket.
He descended quickly, the clouds parting as he finally was able to spot the source of the cries, a small baby lying in the soft grass, screaming its head off. The dragon was surprised to see the tiny soul, completely alone with no signs of any people nearby. It seemed like the baby had crawled away from his parents. The dragon raised its nostrils and sniffed the air, hoping to smell humans nearby but instead got a whiff of smoke and ash in the distance and turning in that direction he could see the dark pillar rising in the distance. It seemed that this boy was alone after all.
The dragon looked back down at said child, the lone survivor it seemed of the terrible accident and wondered what to do with him. He watched as the child continued to scream and cry, its tiny legs and arms kicking and waving wildly, and the dragon decided right then and there to help the child, knowing its heart couldn't take the sound of bawling much longer.
So, very slowly it flew closer to the child, waiting for its screams to turn to ones of fear, as did most things when they saw a dragon for the first time. But to the dragon's surprise, the child didn't scream or cry, it started to laugh, its chubby little hands reaching out to touch the dragon's snout.
"Wait! The baby liked the dragon?" Violet interrupted loudly.
"Yes," Star said.
"But why? Wasn't it afraid?"
"I guess the baby knew the dragon was friendly and wasn't going to hurt him," Star explained.
"Yeah Violet, that was obvious," Daisy added with a know-it-all tone.
"Was not!"
"Was too!"
"Ahem," Star said, clearing her throat. "Can I please continue the story now."
"Oh right, go ahead," Violet replied.
The dragon startled by the child's reaction stared at it in confusion for a second. But seeing its innocent, smiling face staring up at with no fear or concern, the dragon moved closer. It snuffled the boy's hair with its large nostrils, checking to make sure he wasn't hurt, making the baby laugh again. But seeing no damage to the child upon closer inspection, it very gently used its snout to push the boy over onto his chest so that it could grab onto the back of the baby's shirt with its massive fangs, being very slow and careful to avoid hurting him, before lifting off the ground again and flying away.
"Wait shouldn't the dragon check and make sure the baby's parents really aren't around, cause otherwise wouldn't he be kidnapping him?" Daisy suggested.
The dragon lifted off the ground again and flew away, but not before sailing over the burnt down village a few times to make sure there weren't any other survivors, eventually coming to the conclusion that the baby was indeed the only human around and flew him back to the cave he lived in.
"So why'd the dragon decide to raise the baby himself?" Violet asked, cocking her head to the side with a curious look.
"Cause it was the right thing to do," Star explained simply. "He saw the baby needed help and did what he could to help him."
"And he did it cause he loved the baby, right Star?" Daisy added, giving her cousin a bright grin.
Star nodded. "Uh-huh, that too," the blond royal agreed. "The dragon became the baby's dad and took care of him."
"Aww, that's so sweet!" Daisy cooed, squishing her cheeks with her hands as her eyes shimmered with joy.
Violet hid her own smile, finding that very sweet too but not wanting to show it. "So what happened next, Star?" the creepy child asked.
"Yeah did the bad dragon find out about the baby?!" Daisy exclaimed in fear.
"Well, you two will have to be quiet so Star can tell us," Jackie reminded them and both girls immediately covered their mouths with their hands to stifle any further outbursts. Star giggled at her cousins' antics before continuing the story where she had left off. "Now where was..." the blond muttered. "Oh right, so after that, the boy spent years living in the cave with his dad and the other dragons..."
Many, many years went by and the boy lived in peace with his dragon family. But with every passing year the boy found himself craving knowledge, curious about the outside world, and although he loved his family very much he wanted to leave to see the world. But the boy kept his secret dream to himself, fearing hurting his family's feelings by telling them his true desires, knowing he was safe so long as he was in the caves.
Or so he thought.
One day, the bad dragon found out about the boy and became furious. He knew this boy came from one of the villages he had burned down and was angry that someone had managed to escape right under his nose.
"I knew it was the bad dragon that burned the boy's village down!"
"Violet shhh!"
And not only had the boy survived but the others had kept him a secret from the bad dragon all these years. The bad dragon was so enraged that his roar shook the mountaintop, making the earth beneath the boy's feet rumble, causing him to shake in fear. The bad dragon then declared that humans were not allowed to be in the caves and that he should be cast out at once.
The other dragons said they wouldn't do this for he was their son and they loved him.
The bad dragon laughed evilly, a horrible, terrible sound that made the boy shake even more. "Love?" he fumed. "You fools actually believe in such a pathetic emotion. Love makes you weak, love makes you helpless. True strength comes from hatred and since all of you have forgotten this then you can stand aside so that I may dispose of this nuisance myself!"
The bad dragon went to gobble the poor boy up, who was too frightened to move, but before he could the other dragons did the unthinkable... they attacked the bad dragon!
The bad dragon roared in anger as his own kind fought him, shouting vile curses at them, but the others did not care, they no longer feared the bad dragon's evil. Then the good dragon, the one that had found and raised the boy, shouted to his child, "Quickly, you must run from here and never come back!"
The boy obeyed, turning and running from the cave as fast as he could, he never looked back but he shivered as he heard the bad dragon promise to get his revenge on the child for causing the dragons to betray him. The boy kept running and running and running until he was far away from the mountains, the cave he had once called home but a peak in the distance.
When the boy did finally stop, he was tired, his legs hurt and his lungs ached. He collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath, his heart still pounding in fear from the bad dragon's chilling words and threats. Only now, looking around him the boy realized that for the first time ever, he was all alone. There was no one to comfort him or take care of him and the boy felt sadness creep into his heart as tears spilled from his eyes.
“Aww, that's so sad!" Daisy suddenly said, her face full of sorrow for the imaginary boy. "He had to leave his family and everything! He must be so worried and scared!"
"Did the bad dragon find him?" Violet asked, her eyes full of intrigue. "And what happened to the other dragons? Where did-"
"Whoa, whoa, slow down," Jackie spoke up with a small laugh. "I'm sure Star's getting to that."
"Yeah, don't want to spoil anything before I get there," Star added, winking over at the twins.
"Okay," Violet agreed with a small nod. "So what happened next?"
"Wellll," Star replied, biting her lip in thought. "The boy met someone.”
"Who'd he meet?" Daisy asked curiously.
"U-Uhhh... h-he met," Star stuttered nervously, the pressure getting to her as she struggled for an idea.
"A dark mage?" Violet suggested.
Star nodded with a relieved smile, but she paused before saying, "A light mage."
"Oooohh even better," Daisy said, her eyes sparkling with joy.
Violet made a face of disgust, even going so far as to stick her tongue out and gag, before muttering under her breath, "Speak for yourself."
The light mage had been out for a stroll in the beautiful woods, enjoying all the simple joys the morning had to offer. She loved seeing nature and hearing the gentle call of the birds or feeling the wind breathing against her skin, it gave her more delight than all the magic in the world. At least, so she thought. For on that fateful morning she was about to meet someone who would become a new, even greater, source of joy in her life.
“The boy!”
“Daisy shhh!”
The light mage quickly picked up on the sound of sobs and sorrow and was immediately drawn to it, her heart aching and her kind nature seeking to soothe the troubled soul she could hear nearby. She made her way toward the sound, her steps quick and hurried, wanting to help him as soon as possible, but when she did finally emerge into the clearing, she stopped, her heart doing a double-take. The boy was quite adorable if she was being honest, even if the sight of him crying was heartbreaking to behold. He had soft brown hair that danced in the gentle breeze, a pair of gorgeous chocolate brown eyes that seemed to be endless the more the mage stared into them, which she found herself doing as tears poured from there with no sign of stopping. His clothes, which consisted of just a hoodie and jeans were a bit too big on him, making him look somehow even smaller and more delicate. Everything about him screamed innocence and the mage was taken aback that such a gentle soul could even exist.
The boy, meanwhile, had finally noticed the mage's presence and he found himself staring mouth-agape at the beautiful form before him. She had long, almost glowing blond hair that seemed to match the color of sunshine itself, vast blue eyes that looked like a piece of the sky had been captured and replaced with her pupils. Staring at her outfit which was a blue robe and skirt, a magician's hat, and purple boots, the boy realized she must be someone important if her fancy clothes were anything to go by. And if that didn't tip him off of how special she was, then the large magical staff he could see strapped to her back was a dead giveaway.
The mage quickly recovered from her shock, though, as she raced over to check on the boy. "Are you okay?" she asked, bending down and examining him closely. "Did you get hurt? Is that why you're crying?"
The boy shook his head, his cheeks flushing some in embarrassment. "No. I'm fine."
The mage let out a breath of relief, before asking him in concern, "Well what are you doing out here all alone? You're lucky you didn't get attacked by a beast or something?"
"I-" the boy began but tears burst from his eyes again, making it impossible for him to continue as he wept pitifully. The mage watched him for a second, before gently wrapping her arms around him in a hug, hoping to soothe his troubled mind. She brought him closer to her chest and he happily rested his forehead there, tears continuing to stream from his eyes as all his worries and grief flowed out of him.
The two stayed like this for minutes on end, the girl rubbing gentle circles onto his back, while the boy soaked her clothes in tears, but she didn't seem to mind. Finally, the boy was able to recover enough to chock out, "I lost my family. The bad dragon- he took them away from me!"
"What?" the mage said in confusion, pulling out of the hug and holding him at arm's length. "Bad dragon? What are you talking about?"
The boy sniffed a few times, rubbing at his swollen eyes, before he confessed to her, telling her his story, leaving out no detail as he laid his soul bare for her. And when he was done he burst into tears again as the pain of all he had lost came crashing down on him again.
The girl's heart plummeted as she listened to his story, finally understanding why this boy was so torn up. That sounded awful, he had been through so much in such a short time. "There, there," the mage soothed, pulling him into another comforting hug. "Everything will be alright. I'm sure the other dragons are fine, dragons are nearly indestructible, even fighting one of their own. "
"But what can I do?" the boy cried. "The bad dragon will be hunting me now, I can't go back if he finds me, he'll- he'll-"
"He won't!" the mage said firmly, squeezing his small frame in a protective embrace. "He won't ever find you or hurt you. Not on my watch!"
"Wait, what-what are you saying?" the boy asked his cheeks blushing a deep red.
"I'm saying I'm taking you with me," the girl said, leaning back so she could look into his eyes, giving him a warm smile to try and battle the coldness of the bad dragon's actions. "You can stay by my side and I'll protect you. I have magic, so even a dragon as powerful as the one you spoke about won't be enough to stop me. What do you say?"
The boy blinked, in complete disbelief by this girl's offer. Was this girl for real? Did she really want someone like him, someone who barely understood the outside world and all its complexities by her side? Was she really offering to protect him even though they had only just met? It seemed almost too good to be true.
"Um, are you sure you want me to stay with you?" the boy asked hesitantly. "I mean, we kinda just met and I'm not sure how helpful I'll be to you."
"Nonsense," the girl insisted, giving him a positive grin. "I wouldn't ask if I didn't want you to come with me. We may have just met but I can see you have a good heart. And I'd like to help you if you'll let me."
The boy paused for a second, before he nodded, a smile slowly growing on his face. "Okay, yeah, thank you so much. I promise you won't regret it!"
The mage squealed in joy, glad to finally have some company on her long journey. It could be very boring traveling alone. But she recovered quickly enough, clearing her throat as she stood, offering the boy a hand up which he eagerly took. "Then come on, let's go find you something to eat, I'm sure you must be starving by now," the mage said sweetly as she led her new friend away from the silent clearing.
Suddenly, a loud rumbling sounded and the boy blushed bright red as his stomach humiliated him at the worst possible time. The girl just laughed though and said with a wink, "I'll take that as a yes!"
"Uh, haha, yeah," he sheepishly muttered, his cheeks still a darker shade of red than his hoodie. But trying to quickly change the subject he asked, "So where are we going anyway?"
"Wherever we want," the mage replied, grabbing the boy's face and pressing it against her own while she did a cute little dramatic flourish to the world around them. "We do what we want, go where we want, and let nothing hold us back! What do you say?"
The boy's eyes glittered with joy at that. Go wherever they wanted. See the world. That was literally his dream come true! It seemed like he couldn't have picked a more perfect companion and protector. What were the odds of him meeting someone with the same desire to travel and explore as he did?!
"I say that's perfect!" the boy screamed, pumping his fists into the air, his heart practically leaping from his chest he was so excited. "Th-That's all I've ever wanted to do! I can't believe I'm actually going to see the world!"
The blond giggled. "Well since you're so excited, I'm gonna have to show you some of the wonders I've come across since I started traveling!" the girl said with a bright grin.
"Really? Like what? How many?" the boy asked, his curiosity beyond peaked at this point.
"Oh wow, there's kinda more than I can count actually," the mage replied thoughtfully, before putting an arm around the boy's small frame. "But don't worry, we've got all the time in the world to see them."
"Wow, that is so romantic," Daisy said with a wistful sigh. She paused letting out a tired yawn, before continuing, absentmindedly rubbing at her eye. "They are so perfect for each other. They should totally get married."
"They can't get married yet, Daisy. They just met," Violet pointed out, although there was hardly any emotion in her tone at all, showing the first signs of drowsiness, her head leaning heavily against her arm and her eyes just barely beginning to droop.
"Well that never stopped mom and dad," Daisy replied, her own head beginning to lull to the side as if fighting to stay upright. "Mommy said they got married after only two dates."
"Mommy also said that she and dad didn't get along and that's why he left," Violet argued weakly. Star and Jackie, meanwhile, shifted uncomfortably in their chairs, feeling suddenly awkward at the sudden turn in the twin's conversation, neither sure if it was a good or bad thing the way the two casually talked about seemingly terrible events in their younger lives.
"Then they weren't really in love," came Daisy's immediate response. "Unlike the light mage and her friend, right Star?" The two girls looked over at their cousin for conformation, hoping she could straighten this argument out.
"Uhhh," Star began hesitantly, the sudden pressure to say the correct thing causing her to freeze. A quick glance over at Jackie yielded no results as the skater just shrugged and gave her an equally lost look to the one she currently felt. A part of Star even debated on running to go get Lily in hopes of avoiding having to engage in this conversation herself, but seeing the quizzical looks on the girls' faces staring at her with such intensity, she knew there would be no easy way out of this situation. So she just sucked in a deep breath and told them in the most straightforward way possible, "Well some people are good for each other and sometimes they're not. Things don't always work out but that's okay."
Daisy and Violet gave the nervous Star a confused look, before the latter simply asked, "So do the light mage and her friend love each other or not?"
"Uhh they care about each other and sometimes that's the first step to falling in love," Star explained, feeling a little less uncomfortable now that the focus was off of Lily and her past failed marriage.
The twins nodded at that, before Daisy said, "Yeah, I guess that makes sense." Star breathed a sigh of relief, only to immediately freak out as the cutesy girl added, "I mean, that's what you and Big Brother did when you fell in love, right?"
Star let out an unexpected squeak, her cheeks flushing a deep red, in total shock by Daisy's out of nowhere question. "U-Um well, yeah I guess," the blond royal replied, still trying to will away her blushing cheeks as she stared off into an abandoned corner of the room in hopes of not having to meet anyone's eyes. "Only, I'm not sure if we're..." Star began only for her voice to trail off, not even sure where she was going with this conversation now.
Thankfully, Jackie became Star's saving grace, telling the twins, "They haven't said 'I love you' yet. Right now they just really care about each other a lot and that's okay too." The two girls nodded in understanding, before letting out simultaneous yawns. "But right now, I think it would be best to let Star finish the story before you two sleepyheads fall asleep on us," Jackie added with a grin.
"I'm not a sleepyhead," Violet said with a halfhearted pouting look, still struggling to keep her eyes open.
"Me neither," Daisy added, her head now leaning against her sister to try and stay upright.
Star and Jackie shared knowing smiles before the blond continued her story.
The light mage kept true to her word, showing the boy almost every inch of the beautiful world they lived on, the boy finally seeing exactly what he had been missing living in a cave all his life. And the boy was not disappointed, every day was filled with new adventures, new sights and wonders some of which he couldn't have thought up in his wildest of dreams, and every moment he spent on the new world was better than the last.
And it was all thanks to his new friend.
The boy couldn't thank his blond companion enough for allowing him to experience such wonders but whenever he mentioned such things the girl would just shrug and tell him it was no big deal. Even though, to the boy, it was the biggest deal in the world! And part of him felt bad that he had no way to repay the light mage, even if she insisted just having him there was all the payment she needed.
Which wasn't too surprising considering who he was dealing with, the boy didn't think he had ever met someone so nice before, this girl's kindness seemed to know no bounds, the boy witnessing first-hand how she used her magic to help others. She would cast spells to help get cats out of trees, or save people being carried away in a flood, or fend off dangerous beasts, or even just something as simple as creating a meal for a hungry family. And to the boy, it seemed like his new friend didn't seem to have a selfish bone in her body.
The more time he spent with her, the more he grew to care about her as she quickly became the most important person in his life. So much so, that the boy wasn't sure if he loved going on adventures because it was what he always wanted or because he had his blond friend there to experience it with him. Either way, he wouldn't want to change a single minute of their time together.
For whatever reason beyond either of their understanding, the two got along flawlessly. They laughed and joked with each other like they had been friends their entire lives, talking for hours on end about whatever was on their mind while being sure to pay close attention to what the other had to say, and just taking care of each other. Whenever the boy would cook meals he would be sure to give his friend an extra portion even if it meant losing some off of his own plate, while the girl would oftentimes give up her own blanket if she noticed the boy looking even slightly cold at night. The two were more than just companions or friends, they were each other's family and they depended on one another more than they could ever know and the two silently vowed to never part, to stay together forever no matter what.
Or at least, so they hoped.
One day the two arrived at a small town, one that even the light mage in all her travels had never come across and the thrill of a new adventure caused both of them to grow eager and excited. They rushed around the village, pointing and gawking at every new sight they saw, taking in as much of the town as they could at once. But as they ran around, brown and blue shining with fascinated interest, they made sure to hold hands so they wouldn't risk accidentally getting separated or lost. This was a pretty common thing for the two of them to do when they were out and about, after one particularly traumatizing incident where the boy lost sight of his friend in a crowd and had thought he heard a dragon roaring in the distance, curling up into a ball out of fear the bad dragon had returned to exact his revenge. Now the two were much more careful and aware of where the other was at all times.
But as the two explored the village, so lost in their own thoughts, they didn't notice a dark form descending from the clouds above, nor did they notice the citizens of said village pointing and muttering amongst themselves at the odd sight. But as the dragon slowly came into view, the people were entranced since none had ever seen a dragon before, most didn't wander out this far from the mountaintop and many began speculating why a dragon would journey all the way there.
But their curiosity turned to fear and then to panic as the dragon suddenly let out a hot breath of fire, lighting the tiny village aflame. The people screamed and scrambled to escape, finally alerting the two teens of the bad dragon's appearance. They looked over in shock as the dragon continued its assault on the town, flames continually shooting out of its mouth as it tried to coat every rooftop in its destructive heat.
The light mage immediately drew her staff, preparing to attack the creature, but the boy stopped her, putting a shaky hand on her arm. The girl watched as her close friend shivered and shook, despite the rising temperature, his eyes wide and full of fear as he told the mage between chattering teeth, "That's him. th-that's the bad dragon."
The light mage's eyes widened as she looked from her friend to the dragon and then back, asking, "Are you sure?"
The boy nodded. "Y-Yes. P-Please d-don't fight him. He's too powerful!"
The blond didn't reply at first, just watching as the dragon continued to burn the innocent village down, her grip tightening on her staff as her desire to help these poor people was almost more than she could bear. But looking into the pleading eyes of her friend, she knew she couldn't, she had to focus on the most important thing right then, getting him as far away from the horrible beast as she could. Then she could focus on actually fighting the thing.
So, without a word, she grabbed her friend's hand and began leading him away from the horrible scent of ash and screams of terrified villagers, swallowing down the lump in her throat as she did so. She never turned, keeping her eyes trained on the opened gate leading out of the village, which the other people were pouring out of, and she did her best to push her way through the crowd without hurting anyone. But that was before she heard the roar, one that made her bones rattle and her head spin, but it was what followed after that caused her heart to plummet as the dragon loudly called, "There you are, boy! You thought you could escape from me!"
The two turned and watched as the dragon dived for them, dark, sinister smoke rising from its mouth as he sailed toward the two. The boy screamed, clinging onto his friend in fear, but the girl just pulled the staff out from behind her back and shouted, "Crystal Shield!" Suddenly a barrier formed around them and the dragon bounced off it with a loud roar of pain. The two smiled in relief, watching as the dragon shook its head, letting out low groans of annoyance before its beady eyes fixed on them again.
Soon flames tumbled from its mouth, hitting the barrier but it held under the intense heat. The blond waved the staff around before shouting, "Winterstorm Hyperblow!" and the shield instantly dispersed as a blast of cold magic shot out toward the dragon, instantly diminishing it's flames as puddles of melted ice fell to the ground.
The dragon opened its mouth to shoot flames again, but the mage was just a little bit faster than it was, chanting, "Raspberry Ribbon Lasso!" Glowing red ropes shot out of the staff, wrapping around the dragon's mouth and sealing it shut. The dragon growled in anger, smoke shooting out of its nostrils as it strained against the magic ropes, even using its sharp paws to try and claw its snout loose.
The blond, knowing that wouldn't hold for long, turned to her friend and shouted, "Quickly, you need to run from here! Get as far away as you can!"
The boy felt tears in his eyes, as a feeling of deja vu over-powered him and he shook his head frantically. "No! No, I won't leave you!" the boy shouted, grasping the girl's shoulders.
But she shrugged him off, saying in the calmest tone she could, "You have to. It's the only way! I can't fight this dragon and keep you safe, too," Still seeing the hesitancy in his eyes she added, "I'll come find you once this is all done, I promise."
The boy didn't say anything for a second, just staring lost into his friend's crystal eyes but finally, he obeyed her wishes turning and running from the village while wiping the tears from his eyes with his sleeve.
The mage watched her friend go, before turning around to face the dragon with a glare. The dragon finally managed to free its snout, but to her surprise, instead of attacking the dragon began to laugh, a low, throaty chuckle that put the mage on edge. Its beady eyes narrowed on her as it bent down so it was level with the girl, its hot breath wafting against the girl's skin, making her shudder. But all it did was whisper, "You shouldn't have done that. Now the boy will be mine."
"No he won't," the blond snapped, raising her staff to cast another spell. But the dragon was for once quicker, using its long tail to smack into one of the ash-covered buildings causing it to collapse, the rubble crashing down onto the mage. Once the mage was buried under a mountain of rubble the dragon lifted off the ground, no longer interested in finishing off the village, not when his revenge was so close at hand.
A few flaps of his wings and he spotted his target below, the boy running as fast as he could, but he was no match for the speed of a dragon. The dragon smiled evilly, before swooping down, its talons opened and ready to snatch up his prey. The boy turned at the last second, barely having a chance to scream before the dragon's thick claws latched into the back of his hoodie lifting him off the ground, holding him easily in just one of its massive paws. The boy, of course, struggled uselessly, scratching and kicking in any attempt to break loose, while screaming noisily to be let go or for his friend to come rescue him, but it was all pointless, the bad dragon had him again and this time he wouldn't be letting him go anytime soon. With a steady beat of its wings, the dragon carried its hostage far away from the burning village, eager to get home and soak in its glory.
The pile of rocks were flung aside as the barrier the light mage had created expanded before disappearing, thus freeing her from her predicament. She panted looking around for any sign of her friend, calling his name as she began running for the gate, hoping to somehow save him in time. But then she spotted a dark form on the horizon, she came to an abrupt stop, her heart aching as she listened to the faded but still desperate pleas of her friend, screaming for her to help him. The girl collapsed to her knees, lacking the strength to stand as tears poured from her vision, watching in failure as her friend was carried away from her forever.
But her tears of defeat, soon turned to determination as she remembered the promise she had made to him. No, she couldn't give up. She would save him. She wouldn't let this be the end of her friend. She would find him and rescue him even if it killed her. And so, gritting her teeth, she forced herself to stand, her hands clenched so tightly around her staff it was beginning to rattle. She spun the staff around a few times in her grip, letting the magic she needed gather, before she shouted, "Summoning Cloudy Charm!"
A pink, smiling cloud with wings appeared next to her. The blond didn't waste a second as she climbed on, letting herself get situated in the fluff as she shouted, "Follow that dragon!"
"Aye, aye, ma'am!" the cloud spell said, before zipping off in the direction the dragon had went. The blond mage watched intensely as the dragon's form stayed far ahead of them. Although the cloud was fast the dragon was faster and his head start meant they wouldn't be able to catch up to him before it reached its cave. The blond let out soft breaths to try and calm herself, while whispering, "Please let me reach him in time. Please don't let me be too late."
The dragon's lair smelled of ash and decay, the stone walls coated in scratch and burn marks from whenever the dragon would become enraged (which was often). The ground itself was hot to the touch, magma and molten lava resting just under the surface, making staying inside it unbearable for anyone but a dragon. The area was fairly well-lit by a fire pit in the center of the space, currently being used to roast the dragon's dinner, a large slab of meat which was already beginning to burn and ruin in several places not that the large reptile minded. He preferred it that way.
The boy sat with his back up against one of the walls of the cave, hugging his knees to his chest as his frightened eyes watched the dragon wearily as it focused for now on its food and not its prisoner, which the boy was thankful for. The boy risked a look around, trying to think up some sort of escape. Despite his attention being elsewhere, the dragon still kept his body close enough to the exit that making a run for that would be a death wish and the boy shuddered to think what this creature would do to him if he did attempt such a perilous escape.
But then again he also knew staying would end up just as badly considering how many piles of bones he could see scattered about the cave, the boy guessing they were from either creatures hunted and brought there like the boy or had been stupid enough to enter the dragon's domain on their own, but whichever it was the boy dreaded coming to the same fate. Beads of sweat poured from the boy's brow both from his growing fear and the suffocating heat and he shifted uncomfortably.
This seemed to draw the dragon's attention and the boy nearly choked on a gasp of fright but did his best to keep his eyes level with the beast, despite wanting nothing more than to cower away. He licked his dry lips and asked nervously, "What do you want from me?"
"Revenge," the dragon said simply, poking at the cooking meat with a sharp claw.
"Revenge?" the boy repeated hesitantly. "Revenge on who?"
"On those fools who dared to defy me," the dragon growled, the rumbling low its throat causing the boy to shudder. "They thought they could keep you from me, but I found out, I always do. And then they attacked me! Nearly killed me. It took me weeks to heal, I will make sure they all suffer the same fate."
"What does that have to do with me?" the boy asked fearfully.
The dragon grinned evilly at the child, its beady yellow eyes full of dark promises as it replied, "You. You're the example. Once I'm done with you, the dragons will not dare to defy me again, lest they suffer the same fate."
The boy felt his heart stop, swallowing once in fear, both for himself and his family, while his body began to shake from head to toe. "You-You won't get away with it," the boy defiantly replied, but it was halfhearted due to the noticeable quiver in his voice. "My family will come and so will my partner. She'll save me from you."
The dragon laughed at that, its wings expanding as it rose to its hind legs, wrapping its arms around its scaled belly. Once it was through with its laughter, its front claws slammed into the ground, cracking the stone beneath it and causing the whole cave to rumble, loose rocks and dirt raining down from above. The boy whimpered and pulled his legs a little tighter against him. "That mage is buried under a mountain of rubble," the dragon hissed out, looking incredibly amused by the boy's fearful expressions. "She will not be saving you. In fact, I doubt she will ever see the light of day again."
"No," the boy gasped out, tears flooding his vision as the dragon above him just roared with laughter again.
"Think again," came a determined voice, a blast of magic cutting off the dragon's cruel laughter, striking the dragon's snout and causing the reptile to stumble back in pain and surprise. The boy looked over to the entryway and nearly cried with relief as the blond mage stood triumphantly on a floating pink cloud, looking more beautiful and majestic than the boy had ever thought possible. She leapt from the cloud, landing delicately on the hot stone as she twirled the glowing staff expertly around in her hands.
The bad dragon had recovered enough to notice the girl, baring its sharp fangs at her as it hissed, "How did you survive, mortal?"
The blond gave the beast a smirk, replying smugly, "Easy, I couldn't die yet." Her eyes met the boy's as she added, "I made a promise I need to keep." The two smiled at each other, a look of love and longing passing between them, before a loud roar interrupted the moment. The two turned just in time to see the dragon releasing a breath of fire at the mage, who quickly cast, "Cooling Confetti Cannon!" and a cannon appeared beside her, shooting off bursts of ice-covered confetti that exploded as they met the dragon's fire. The dragon did his best to hold the cannon off but was soon overpowered and hit by the colorful explosions himself, his body covered in the rainbow substance as he growled in fury.
The blond, seizing her opportunity ran to her friend's side. "Hey, you okay," she began, only to stumble back in surprise as the boy threw his arms around her in a tight hug, one that caused the mage's cheeks to flush bright red.
"You came, I knew you would," he whispered into her shoulder and she smiled before hugging him back tightly.
But the hug didn't last long as the dragon had finally managed to destroy the annoying cannon, a blast of fire causing the spell to undo, poofing from existence. The dragon satisfied that the device was now gone, turned its attention onto the two teens. As its beady yellow eyes met them, the blond raised her staff to cast another spell but the dragon's tail lashed out, knocking both of them to the ground. "I've got you both now," the beast declared superiorly and the mage heard the dragon draw in a breath, no doubt to burn them both to a crisp, and ignored the ache in her body as she reached for her fallen staff, her fingers just inches shy of grabbing it. "No!" she shouted in despair, feeling the heat on her skin as the dragon's flames shot towards her and her friend.
But the flames stopped just in time as something suddenly struck the dragon's snout, making it let out a sharp wail of pain. The blond looked behind her to see the boy picking up bones from the floor and throwing them at the dragon, most of them managing to hit their target who growled in pain and annoyance. The blond smiled before rising to her feet, snatching up the staff as she did.
While the boy was providing a necessary distraction the girl breathed in a deep breath, feeling the magic filling her being as she tried to remember the necessary chant. Although she knew of a spell capable of destroying a dragon, it was a long time ago since she learned it and she was having trouble remembering the exact wording.
But before the mage could get a word out the dragon roared, "Enough!" before raising his wings in a single violent flap, the gust of wind that followed striking the two teens and sending them tumbling, the staff bouncing against the stone floor, now far out of her reach for the both of them.
The two teens rose slowly, grunting in pain before they looked up fearfully at the dragon that now towered over their fragile forms. The two, fearing what would come next, rose to their feet and tried to make a run for it but a plume of fire appeared before them, effectively cutting them off from the staff and any means of escape. The two tried to double back only for a second wall of fire to spring to life in front of them, effectively trapping them and leaving them at the mercy of the dangerous reptile.
The stared up in fear as the dragon loomed above, smoky breath pouring from its lungs as it shouted, "I will not be bested by such pathetic creatures!"
It sucked in a deep breath, preparing to burn the two to a crisp again and the two teens did the only thing they could think to do in that situation, they hugged. As the dragon breathed a final, sentencing breath the final thought that passed through both of their heads was that at least when someone found their charred remains they would know that they were friends.
But to both of their surprise, there was no pain and the two peeked opened their eyes in confusion. Only for both of their jaws to drop open as a new large form stood protectively in front of them, blocking off the fire with its own scaled body and the boy gasped in recognition of the old dragon that had raised him.
The bad dragon barred its massive fangs as the newcomer, hissing, "Get out of my way, old fool, or else pay the price!"
"No," the other dragon said defiantly.
"What do you plan on accomplishing?" the bad dragon asked, the two now pacing around in circles, trying to size their opponent up. "You will die here, you cannot hope to best me on your own."
"Then it is a good thing I didn't come alone," the other dragon replied, before a dozen more dragons quickly filled the cave, flying in from the shadows it seemed, some even busting through solid rock or emerging from the ground, covered in molten hot lava and glowing a bright red."The other dragons!" the boy shouted in disbelief. "They came too!"
They all began circling the evil reptile, clawing at him or shooting him with flames, while the bad dragon did its best to hold its own against a new army of opponents. "Get away from me, fools! You will regret defying me! You will all pay!" it shouted, though its voice was now desperate and full of obvious fear.
The older dragon, turned to the two teens, asking, "Are you two alright?"
The two nodded dumbly. "Good," the dragon said in relief, before using his long tail to put out the wall of flame blocking their path saying, "Quickly, while he is distracted."
The two snapped out of their daze, nodding once in determination, before grabbing hands, running over to the mage's fallen staff, dodging the battling dragons along the way. Ducking and weaving to avoid being burned alive or crushed under massive feet, without ever letting go of each other's hands.
Finally, they reached the staff and blond was forced to let go so she could pick it up, holding it out in front of her with both hands. She made sure to keep her aim steady, her staff pointed at the evil dragon at all times, as she let out a few slow breaths as she recited the spell from memory, "I call the light upon my side, to vanquish evil and turn the tide." The girl closed her eyes as magical energy began to surround her and the staff which glowed with otherworldly power. "Brightest power do hear my cries, to save the heart of the one I prize." The boy watched mesmerized as the girl's body began to glow pure white, her form nearly floating above the ground as the magic continued to cycle around her. "Cleanse my soul and fulfill my might, by destroying this foe.. with unyielding light!"
With that final sentence, all the magic came spiraling out of the staff, a flash of light flooding the dark cave and blinding everyone within as a loud roar echoed off the stone walls. But as suddenly as it came, the light was gone again, leaving everyone blinking as they struggled to adjust to the dim lighting once more. The mage panted, collapsing to her knees, the last of her magical energy depleted, leaving her tired and sore.
The others eventually recovered from the unexpected spell, staring in shock at the state of the bad dragon, a large rock statue now standing in its place. The dragon's scaled body was now made of thick marble, its body reared up on hind legs as if in a final, desperate attack, and its once dark eyes now blank and lifeless. The dragons and boy stared at it for a few seconds more before all cheering in victory at the bad dragon's defeat. No longer would it haunt them or cause them to cower in fear. They were free.
"You did it!" the boy exclaimed, helping his friend to her feet. "You defeated the bad dragon! You protected me, just like you said you would!"
The blond smiled at her friend, before saying sweetly, "We protected each other." The two pulled into a tight hug, grateful and relieved to be safe and together once more.
But the boy pulled away as he saw the dragon's approaching. The old dragon knelt down, telling him softly, "Thank goodness you are okay. We were worried sick about you, my child."
"Well I'm okay, thanks to you guys," the boy said in a choked tone. The boy ran up to the dragon, throwing himself onto its large snout in a make-shift hug as tears streamed from his cheeks. "I thought I'd never see you again!" the boy sobbed and the dragon let out a purring sound, nuzzling its nose against the boy as the other dragons gathered around to do the same, making him giggle and sob at the same time as dozens of noses rubbed up against him.
The blond mage smiled at the sight of the boy reunited with his family. But it slowly turned to sadness as she realized that he was now where he belonged and no longer had any need for her. Her heart fell as she realized this was the end of their adventures together. She was now alone, once more. But, despite her sadness, she knew better than to get in the way of the the touching reunion and decided it best to just show herself out, walking slowly for the exit, her head down.
The dragons finally pulled away from their youngest as the oldest said apologetically, "I'm sorry you were forced to be alone for so long, my son."
The boy shook his head, replying, "But I wasn't alone. I had someone taking care of me the whole time I was away." With that, the boy ran over and grabbed the blond's hands, causing her to blush with surprise as she was dragged back over to the dragons. "She was always there for me when I needed her and when I was at my lowest she took me in," the boy continued, pointing to said girl, who smiled hopefully and lovingly at her friend. "I've learned so much about the world because of her and she's easily the most important person in my life and I don't know what I would do without her."
The boy turned to her with a vibrant smile, one that set the mage's inside aflutter. "She means everything to me."
The mage returned the smile with one of her own, tears beginning to form in her eyes."I feel the exact same way," the blond whispered as brown and blue continued to meet. And then working up the courage she added, "Because... I love you."
The boy froze while all around them the dragons fell into chaos all cheering and crying in surprise, some even bouncing around the cave in delight that their youngest had found his soulmate. But the boy's eyes never left that of the mage's and after a few seconds, tears spilled from his own eyes as he said in a choked tone, "I love you, too."
And then, as if by some unseen force the two moved towards each other at the same time, their lips meeting in a passionate and intimate kiss that sealed their love and bond forever. The world around them vanished, time falling away, as all that existed was the two of them. Just the two lovers and their kiss, signifying not the end of their journey but the beginning of a new one, one they would now share together as one.
"And so the dragons were freed from the evil dragon's reign, the mage and her adventurous friend continued to travel the world doing together, and they all lived happily ever after... the end," Star finished. She let out a long sigh, glad to finally be done, it had been fun coming up with a story on the spot but pretty mentally draining and her already tired body could definitely use some rest about now. Still, she put on a smile as she looked over at the twins saying, "So girls, what did you think?"
But Star blinked a few times in disbelief as she saw the two sleeping forms of Daisy and Violet, their bodies leaning up against one another as they snored softly. "Yeah, they kind of fell asleep a while ago," Jackie told her friend, looking like she was struggling to stay away herself, staring almost numbly down at her phone.
"When?" the blond royal asked her friend and the skater shrugged.
"Probably somewhere between the mage and boy going on adventures and the bad dragon showing up," Jackie guessed.
"So wait they didn't hear any of the ending?!" Star asked in disbelief.
The skater nodded.
"Why didn't you say something?" the blond exclaimed in exasperation, though making sure to keep her voice down enough to avoid waking the twins.
"I tried to but you were in your own world and didn't seem to notice the world turning," Jackie replied. "So I figured I'd just let you finish up on your own."
Star immediately buried her head in her hands, annoyed as she realized she could have been done half an hour ago and already be catching up on some much-needed sleep, instead of wasting time finishing a story that no one was even listening to. "I can't believe I just spent an hour and a half telling them a bedtime story," the blond groaned softly to herself.
"Well if it makes you feel better, I thought it was really good," Jackie tried and Star let out a quick breath.
"Thanks," she said, giving her friend a heartfelt if not tired smile. Star turned her attention back to the twins and ignoring her tired limbs she stood, saying, "Come on, help me get them tucked in."
Jackie obeyed, creeping over to the bunk bed with Star, the two moving slowly and carefully to not wake the sleeping kids as they went about their respective actions. Jackie gently picked up Daisy, before laying her back on her own bed, pulling the covers up to her chin, while Star scooted little Violet onto her pillow, wrapping her in blankets and making sure to place her Charles plushie at her side, so she could cuddle with it if need be.
Once both girls were properly tucked in, Star and Jackie tiptoed from the room, Jackie flipping off the lights on the way out, leaving the room completely dark save for the flower nightlight Daisy liked to have on in case of bad dreams. Star paused briefly at the door, whispering softly over her shoulder, "Good night girls. Sweet dreams," before slowly closing the door shut behind her.
Once the teens were on the other side, they both let out simultaneous sighs, Star leaning heavily against the door as they both fought back their exhaustion. "Well that was a lot harder than I expected," Star muttered, massaging her aching eyes with her hands.
"Yeah, I know right," Jackie agreed. "How does Lily do that every day?"
"How does Marco?" Star added, sounding genuinely impressed with her boyfriend. "I can't believe he comes up with a new story every night! I could barely come up with just one."
"Well, it is Marco we're talking about here," Jackie pointed out and Star nodded, a loving smile flashing across her face.
"True," Star said softly, clearly daydreaming about a certain hoodie-wearing teen.
"Speaking of, I couldn't help but notice your story seemed pretty familiar, don't you think?" Jackie said, pretending to be pondering this as she tapped a finger to her chin while shooting her friend a teasing look. "Almost like you were speaking from experience or something."
Star blushed bright red, turning her face away to try and hide from her friend's quizzical and yet knowing stare as she quickly denied, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Uh-huh," Jackie said, a playful eyebrow raising as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. "Just like you have no idea about the hoodie you have hidden under your pillow right now, right?"
Star let out a startled squeak, turning to Jackie in surprise as she asked nervously, "How do you know about that?"
"I didn't," Jackie replied, before shooting her friend a wink. "Until just now."
The blond royal froze for a second, before her bashful look turned to one of annoyance, as she hissed, "Oh that was just mean!" Jackie laughed unashamedly at her clever trick, her playful smile never straying from her face. After a few seconds, Star smiled back, but added in a clearly forced, angry tone, "Y'know that seems more like something Janna would do, not you Jacks."
"Well, since you were filling Marco's role earlier, guess it's up to me to cover for Janna," the skater replied.
"I think we have enough of Janna as is without you copying her, thank you very much," Star said, doing a fake roll of her eyes.
"Come on you know you miss her Jannanigans as much as I do," Jackie pressed.
Star giggled once at that, before admitting, "Well, maybe a little." She paused before adding softly, "I hope they're both doing okay."
"I'm sure they're fine," the skater comforted.
Star smiled as she thought of her bestie/boyfriend, asking, "What do you think they're doing about now?"
"Probably getting some sleep," Jackie said. "Speaking of, we should probably consider doing that ourselves."
Star nodded, her eyes full of longing and fatigue. "Ugh, yes. Please," she slurred out, the promise of sleep causing her whole body to sway, her brain already beginning to shut down for the day. She yawned once, before adding, "I can't wait to get to bed."
"Me too," Jackie admitted. She put an arm around her friend, gently leading Star toward her room, the blond too out of it to even notice. The skater smiled before saying helpfully, "Then let's get you to bed." But another playful smile rose to her lips as she added more to herself than the drowsy Star, "After all, you got a hoodie to snuggle, light mage."
...
"When are Big Brother and Janna getting back?" little Violet asked for what had to be the fifth time that night.
"Star said they were on their way, they'll be here soon," Jackie reassured the girl, her and her sister groaning as they both flopped down onto their beds in boredom.
"But that was hours ago," Daisy grumbled in an over-exaggerated tone, causing Jackie to smile to herself.
It was the next night and the twins were once again in bed, though they had somehow coerced their mom into letting them stay up to greet Marco and Janna, promising to go immediately to sleep once they did, but the girls were quickly growing impatient with waiting. Jackie had offered to switch storyteller with Star for the night after the blond had seemed eager to get ready for her boyfriend's return and was doing her best to hold their interest with stories and legends she had could remember from her time on Earth but even that was starting to lose them.
Jackie calmly checked the clock on the wall just to see how much longer they would probably be, only to stare in shock at the startling amount of time that had already passed. It had been over an hour since Star informed her and the twins that Marco and Janna were headed back from their 'camping trip' and yet there was still no sign of them. They should have gotten back by now, the skater couldn't help but point out in her head. The skater did her best to shake these worries off, figuring the two had just got distracted or held up by something. Just cause they were late didn't mean they were in genuine danger, there was no sense in panicking... yet, at least. Though that didn't stop her from muttering under her breath, "Huh, wonder what's keeping them?"
"Maybe they got eaten by a multi-bear or a centipeedle?" Violet suggested groggily. It was getting late for them, after all, and the two were struggling to stay awake.
"Those are both just Earth myths, sweetie," Lily suddenly spoke up, nearly startling the skater. Jackie hadn't thought the older woman had even been listening, up till now she had seemed almost oblivious and stuck in her own world as she sat in the corner of the room, looking through the last bit of paperwork for the day and humming softly to herself the whole time. She hadn't even bothered to glance up as she spoke, her gentle eyes never even pausing to read the fine print of the document before her even as she corrected her daughter.
Though after a second, she too glanced up at the clock, frowned and said matter-of-factly, "Hmm, I do hope those two get back soon, the girls really need to get to bed."
Jackie nodded, although the twins grumbled and began arguing weakly about the fact that they weren't tired and their mom was being super unfair. The skater pulled out her phone offering, "I'll call and see where they're at."
"Good idea," Lily agreed, Violet and Daisy looking a little more awake and eager as they watched Jackie put the phone up to her ear, listening calmly to the ringing. After a couple of rings, the familiar voice of Janna spoke up, saying, "Hello?"
"Hey, Jan, it's Jackie."
"Yeah I gathered as much," Janna said in her typical sarcastic wit.
Jackie resisted the urge to roll her eyes as she asked, "Well, I was wondering where you are? Star said you and Marco would be back an hour ago."
"Yeah, its a long story but we kinda got held up," the creepy teen replied cryptically.
"Well do you know how much longer you'll be?" Jackie asked, trying not to let her impatience leak out of her voice.
"Actually it's funny you mention it, Jacks," Janna began. "Cause me and Marco are actually-"
"We're heeeerreeee!" Marco called in a sing-song voice as the door to the room slammed open, revealing him and the beanie-wearing teen, both grinning like dorks as they stared into the girl's bedroom.
"Janna!" Jackie shouted, jumping up from the chair.
"Big Brother!" both twins cried as one, all previous signs of exhaustion gone as they leapt from the bed and ran over to greet the two teens.
Marco, however, just turned to his creepy friend asking, "Did I do it right?"
Janna gave him a wink and a thumbs up, telling him, "Yep. Perfect timing! That was an excellent dramatic reveal."
The boy almost glowed with pride at his accomplishment, before being bombarded by hugs from Daisy and Violet, the two giggling as they said, "We missed you Big Brother!" Marco just laughed and swept them into an even tighter embrace, saying to them with a wide smile, "I missed you guys too!"
Janna was also hugged by Jackie, which she returned wholeheartedly, the skater saying, "Man, am I glad your back."
"What, don't tell me you actually missed me?" Janna said sarcastically, as the two pulled out of the hug.
Jackie rolled her eyes and playfully punched her shoulder saying, "Whatever, you goof." But she paused before adding seriously, "So how did it go?"
Janna flinched, her eyes filling with pain for a second, before she buried it behind a calm facade, whispering softly to her friend, "I'll... tell you later."
Lily, also moved to greet the two teens, walking over to them and saying, "It's good to see you two back, safe and sound."
"Thanks," Marco said sweetly, smiling nicely at the woman, who grinned right back. But he paused a moment, looking around the room, before asking, "Wait, where's Star?"
"She said she had some sort of surprise she needed to get ready for you in her room," Jackie explained.
Marco's eyes filled with wild curiosity his gaze drifting off in the direction of his girlfriend's room, wondering what crazy, amazing thing Star was cooking up for him this time. But before he could ponder too hard on it, he was suddenly pulled from his thoughts by Violet.
"Janna!" the creepy child suddenly shouted, switching from clinging to Marco to clinging to Janna in half a second, her small body practically hanging off the beanie-wearing girl's waist. "Did you miss me? Huh, did you?"
"Sure I did," Janna replied, ruffling the small Butterfly's hair. "I mean, how couldn't I miss my only apprentice?"
Violet practically glowed from the praise and attention her eyes shining brighter than a thousand diamonds. "Did you bring me anything from your trip?"
Marco and Janna shared a smile, before the creepy teen replied, "Actually, we did. In fact, we brought something for both of you."
Both Daisy and Violet gasped and began squealing at that, asking over and over again what it was while trying to peek around the two for any signs of the surprise, but saw nothing. After a few moments of searching the twins stared up at Marco and Janna with furrowed brows, Daisy asking, "Where is it?"
The two teens again shared a grin, before Janna suddenly gave a shrill whistle and said, "Come on out, Edith."
And from within Marco's hood, a small scaly head suddenly popped out, its beady eyes blinking tiredly as it had been asleep mere moments ago until she heard her master call. Violet screamed in delight, moving closer to examine the snake, while Daisy squeaked once in fright quickly hiding behind Jackie's leg. The skater just stared in disbelief of what she was seeing, "Uhh, what the heck is that thing?"
"Oh, this is Janna's old-" Marco began only to stop as Janna loudly coughed into her hand. "Uhh, I mean, this is a snake Janna found while we were camping," the boy quickly corrected himself, putting on the most believable smile he could.
"Is it... dangerous?" Daisy asked nervously.
"What, no way, Edith is a sweetheart, she wouldn't hurt a fly," Janna explained quickly, while Violet gently stroked her head.
"Wow, she's so pretty! Her scales look almost like diamonds or something," Violet breathed, her eyes incapable of growing any wider.
"That's because she's a Gem Feeder," Marco explained. "She only eats gems or rocks."
"Oh my I thought she looked familiar," Lily said, stepping closer to the snake. "Though I haven't seen one in years, she is quite remarkable!"
This seemed to finally get Daisy to move closer, as she asked hesitantly, "Can-Can I pet her?"
"Sure, go ahead," Marco said with a quick nod and watched with a bright grin as the little girl slowly crept closer, finally reaching out a hand and gently running a finger along the snake's scales. The girl giggled a little, before saying a bit more confidently, "She feels weird."
"Would you like to hold her?" Marco asked and the little girl nodded. The hooded teen gently lifted Edith out of the hoodie before handing her over to Daisy, who giggled as it slithered around her arm, Violet leaning over to pet her again. "She's sooo cute!" the cutesy teen cooed, causing the boy to grin brightly. He had expected Daisy to be way more afraid of Edith, but she had opened up to her almost immediately and it nearly brought tears to Marco's eyes for some reason.
"Can we keep her, mom? Can we, please?" Violet asked, hitting her mom with a pouting upper lip and glittering orbs.
"Well you will have to ask, Marco and Janna," Lily said, turning to the two teens.
Janna shrugged. "Well, that was kinda the general idea, figured these two would enjoy having her as a pet."
"Yes!" Violet screamed, before hugging her mentor again. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
"That was very kind of you, Janna," Lily said in her typical sweet tone and the girl froze for a moment, staring at her weirdly before looking away and saying in a voice barely above a whisper, "Thanks."
Jackie gave her friend a worried look, while Marco just stared on sadly, but the moment was quickly interrupted as Daisy asked, "Mommy, Edith sleep in my bed tonight?"
"What?!" Violet shouted, angrily turning on her heels to glare at her sister. "That's not fair! Edith should sleep with me!"
"No, she should sleep with me first, because I'm the oldest!"
"That doesn't have to do with anything!" Violet argued loudly.
"Yes it does, it means I'm more mature than you!" Daisy said, before sticking her tongue out at her sister, which Edith mimicked immediately.
"How about you both share a bed tonight so you can both sleep with her?" Lily suggested fairly. "And then you two can take turns from there."
The twins thought that over for a second before nodding in agreement, Edith again replicating their joint movements. Now that that was settled, Lily clapped her hands together and said, "Okay, girls, say goodnight to Marco, Jackie, and Janna, cause it's time for bed!"
"Awww but mom!" came the expected response, but Lily ignored them, shooing them over to the bed, as she said firmly but patiently, "No 'buts' bedtime is bedtime and you two are way past it right now."
The two grumbled but knew it was pointless as they reluctantly climbed onto Violet's bottom bunk and settled under the covers, Edith curling into a ball between them.
Marco seeing that he and his friends were no longer needed, whispered softly, "Come on, let's go find, Star," before tiptoeing out of the room, Jackie and Janna following right behind him, leaving Lily to tuck in her two tired daughters and their new pet.
Marco, Jackie, and Janna stood outside Star's door, the two girls chatting softly as Janna filled her friend in on what all had happened, the skater giving her sympathetic smiles and nodding as she listened intently to her close friend. With Jackie and Janna talking amongst each other, Marco turned his attention on his girlfriend's door, knowing that right now the only thing that stood between him and Star was a thin piece of wood stood. The boy gave a quick knock, calling, "Hey Star! We're hom-ahh!" His cry was cut short as, out of nowhere, the door was flung open and Star wasted no time in sweeping the boy into her arms and into her room without a care. Jackie and Janna broke off their conversation long enough to stare as the door slammed shut again, before shrugging and heading back to their room. They still had a lot to discuss.
Marco blinked, looking around in confusion, his cheek marks spinning as he struggled to understand where he was and what had happened. All the lights in Star's room were off, but several lit candles were placed all over Star's room, creating a romantic atmosphere that left Marco's heart thumping, the delightful aroma's drifting up to his nose making him feel lightheaded. He could also see a plate of freshly cooked nachos over by Star's beanbag chair and his stomach growled, reminding him he had gone two days without eating a good meal. But that's when he noticed the biggest thing right now he was in Star's arms, being carried bridal style, and his cheeks flushed instantly. "S-Star?" he stammered.
"Hey Marco! Welcome back, I missed you!" the blond cooed, rubbing her cheek against his own, making him flush even more and causing both of their cheeks marks to turn temporarily white.
"I missed you too!" the boy exclaimed, before throwing his arms around the girl in a hug, Star still holding him tightly against her.
"So what took you so long, expected you to be back like an hour ago!" the blond asked, sighing in contentment.
"It's a long story," the boy replied sheepishly. But it slowly turned to realization as she added, "Oh wait, hang on, I want to check on Janna first."
The door to Star's room creaked open again and Jackie and Janna stopped, turning to see Marco's blushing face appear in the doorway. "Jan, are you okay? Do you need to talk or anything?"
Janna shrugged saying, "Nah, I'm good."
"Are you sure?" the boy asked, needing to be completely sure his friend was okay first.
But Janna just scoffed, waving a hand at them as he said, "Marco, I'm fine. I don't need you to babysit me. Go enjoy your time with Star, I know you two lovebirds missed each other."
Marco still didn't look entirely convinced, so Jackie added, "Look, if Janna does need anything I'm right there for her, so you're fine."
Finally, Marco smiled in relief, saying, "Okay, but if you ever need to talk Janna, I'm here for you."
"I know," Janna said sincerely, before adding in a teasing tone, "Now go spend time with your girlfriend already!"
The boy nodded before finally closing the door back, turning to face his girlfriend once again, their faces mere inches apart as Star asked, "What was that all about?"
"Uhh, just one of the many things I have to tell you," the boy said with a shrug.
"Can't wait!" Star said, smiling sweetly. But it slowly turned into a playful smirk as she added, "But first... I'm gonna need like a billion kissed to make up for you being gone."
"Wh-What?" Marco began, only to giggle incessantly as Star began showering him in kisses, covering everything on his face from his blushing cheeks to his cute little nose to even his forehead. As she did, she lifted him up into her arms again, carrying him over to the beanbag chair, where she could continue peppering him with much-needed affection. Once the two were settled, Marco began to kiss Star back, the two sharing a passionate kiss as the length of time they spent apart shattered in an instant. Suddenly it was just the two of them again, and if the two hadn't been so focused on their kiss they might have noticed a soft red glow from outside Star's window.
Finally, Star seemed satisfied with her kisses for the moment, though she kept her arms wrapped around his waist as she watched her Marco pick up the bowl of nachos and quickly wolf them down his throat, trying to hold in her laugh at how adorable he looked. "What did they not feed you at the Impure village?" Star asked teasingly and the boy shook his head, his mouth too full to answer.
He swallowed down the last bite, before saying, "No, but all their food was really, really bad. Like realllly bad!" His eyes widened with horror at the memory of their horrendous food. "Like I think I'd rather eat at Babs' restaurant again than eat any of their food ever!"
Star nodded thoughtfully. "Wow, it must have been pretty terrible for you to willingly want pain-peppers again!" the blond royal said in an equally worried tone, her face matching her boyfriend's perfectly. But it switched back to a loving smile as she nuzzled Marco's face with her own, saying, "So what else happened, other than them trying to poison you, I want to know everything!"
"Oh man, where do I even start?" the boy pondered. "There's so much to tell."
"Well we got all night," the blond reminded him, before gently kissing his forehead.
The boy blushed as his girlfriend's lips brushed his skin, just barely managing to squeak out, "Maybe it'll be better if you start, Star."
"Me?" Star replied with a small chuckle.
"Well yeah, I want to know everything that happened to you too, Star!" Marco said the innocent look he was giving Star causing her heart to skip a beat. He was too precious sometimes.
"Not a whole lot to tell," the girl responded a bit shyly.
"What about that story you told Daisy and Violet, what was it about?" Marco questioned and Star flushed bright red.
"Oh, you don't want to hear that," Star muttered, suddenly avoiding Marco's gaze.
"Sure I do," Marco responded immediately, his eyes shining with wonder. "I care about everything you do, Star! You're my best friend."
"Aww, Marco, stop it!" the girl cooed, putting a hand to her blushing cheek.
But the boy just smiled and continued, pleased he was could praise his girlfriend enough to make her smile like that. "Plus, it's so cool you just made up a story like that on the spot, you're so amazing Star!"
"Come on, you're the amazing one, Mar-" Star began only to pause, her eyes widening in surprise as his words finally clicked in her brain. "Wait, what did you just say?"
"Uhh, your totally amazing," the boy tried but Star shook her head.
"No, about making up the story," Star explained, her head spinning in confusion. "Don't you do that for them every night?"
Marco shook his head, giving his girlfriend a lost look. "No I usually just read them a book or tell them one of the stories Buff Frog used to tell me," the hooded teen replied quizzically.
Star's startled face turned to one of annoyance as realization finally stuck her and she scoffed loudly, "Unbelievable! Those girls lied to me! I can't believe I fell for that!" She quickly buried her face in her hands, groaning in both disbelief and embarrassment at being so easily tricked by children.
Marco just watched his girlfriend quietly, before curiosity got the better of him again and he tilted his head toward her, asking as subtly as he possibly could, "Soooo what was the story about?"
Star froze for a second before just sighing in defeat and saying, "Okay fine... Once Upon A Time..."

Star Crossed | Ch 1: Premonition
Death had no intention of making chance meetings that would end up changing the course of his life and so many others when he took a week off for himself. That's just how the universe--or in this case, universes--seem to work. He and the other Horsemen are left off all the better for it, for once.

Solturion
El Torto
The Quasar Plaza is much more quiet tonight than it has been in the past, making it seem like one of the most peaceful places in the Beacon in spite of its neon lights and overall grandeur. The usual nighttime crowds that bustle from street to street, skyscraper to skyscraper, have all been cleared out. The only things present in the central plaza now are a taco truck, rows of picnic tables lined with food and drinks, and one Sun Devil in a messy apron and plastic sunglasses, sharpening one of his cooking knives while he hums a tune beneath his breath and waits for his guests to start arriving.
The Carna Asa-Dude taco truck normally finds itself followed by long lines of hungry Cosments and plenty of publicity, and El Torto hardly minds the fame that his cooking has earned him, but it's no small part of him that's enjoying this peaceful change of pace. He’s content enough to work in the unnatural yellow light of the glow that emanates from his own stripes and the flame atop his head.
Torto looks up from the knife he's sharpening just in time to see a portal to the Valorous Arena opening up, and not a moment too soon--he was worried his tacos were going to start getting cold. He catches sight of Solturion all but sprinting through the rift to keep up with one of several guests—a tall, pale, long-haired scythe wielder who looks like he just lost a match and isn't too happy about it. Torto opens his arms wide to welcome the group of fighters and his friend alike, accompanying the gesture with a smile that's somehow even wider.
Even if Solturion was a little worried he'd lose track of one of the guests he'd been put in charge of overseeing for a second there, seeing Torto beckoning him forward with that classic stupid grin of his puts a smile on his own face to match it. Shame and hesitation alike are forgotten in this moment--it's been too long since he's seen his friend, and he intends to greet him as any Sun Devil should greet a brother they haven't seen in ages. Sol points his clawed finger towards Torto with a flair that's dramatic enough to make even the god he serves proud.
"IN THIS CORNER OF THE RING, WE GOT THE IMMOVABLE EL TORTOOOOO--!"
Torto catches onto what Sol is doing almost immediately, now pointing his sharpening rod at him with an equally dramatic gesture. "AND ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE, WE GOT THE UNSTOPPABLE SOLTURIONNNN!"
The two of them burst into laughter at that, already coming up to complete their greeting with one of Torto's world famous bear hugs. Sol doesn't really mind that he's being lifted off the ground, even if he is a little glad he's put down right after that.
The vibes these two are giving off are even warmer than the fires burning both in and around their stardust-formed bodies. Coupled with the warm lighting, the good food, and the city lights, they're already shaping this dinner up to be something just right for taking the edge off of the gladiators coming through the portal.
"Guess I don't really need to introduce myself after that," Torto says with a laugh, still grinning like an idiot even when he faces the guests. He gestures to the picnic tables that have already been set with large plates of soft tacos, bowls of chips and queso, and plenty of margaritas for the tired and hungry fighters to fill up on.
"What are you all standin' there for? Dig in! And don't worry about runnin' out--I'll be cookin' for as long as you're here."
Don't mind if Death does exactly that.
He picks out a spot for himself to sit, and doesn't hesitate to go for... what he can only assume are the tacos, since the other food items seem to be nachos, if what he's learned of Earth-style cuisine from Strife holds any water. Even if he came here to this interdimensional celebration without any intention of entering a gladiator arena challenge, he still took the opportunity when it presented itself, and his pride is a little damaged after the loss he just sustained. Now he intends to eat, drink, and avoid speaking to anyone, even if it's near impossible not to hear the nearby conversations as a result.
… Okay, this food is... actually impressive in its quality. Huh. It's a good thing he saved room.
That doesn't mean he's going to stop making attempts to eat it while faced away from anyone who'll immediately recognize him, though. He's certainly not going to waste time downing the drinks on offer. He's pretty much taking a gulp in between every bite and hoping it works despite his supernatural resistance to such things. It takes a strong drink to affect a Nephilim's body.
With the guests now occupied with eating, Sol and Torto walk back over to the counter of Torto's truck, where two tacos piled high with meat are waiting just for them both. The taller of the two Sun Devils reaches a little ways behind the counter and comes back with two beers, one of which he hands to Sol. They both clink them together before opening them and downing their first sip, opening the gateway for their conversation to begin.
"Alright, spill it," Torto demands in a slightly quieter voice than the one he greeted the guests with. "Y'know I love seeing you, but renting out the whole goddamn plaza? That's bold, even for you."
Sol nearly snorts as he bites into his taco, now swallowing his first bite a little quicker than he normally would for the sake of firing back. "This ain't bold, I just wanted to do somethin' nice for everyone! Varróne and Auriga have had almost every other part of this party locked down, so this--" he gestures to the rest of the plaza, "--is what I got to plan."
"That so?" Torto's sure that wrestling control of anything away from Auriga must have been no small feat, even just to hire him for a catering job. "Who am I to complain, then, if this is comin' outta Auriga's wallet and not yours?"
The laugh that gets out of Sol isn't one that he tries to hide.
"Yeah, that does make this a helluva lot easier."
"Y'know what also makes it easier?" Torto nudges Sol with his elbow, taking care to do it lightly enough that it doesn't spill his beer. "That you're not hirin' me out to impress a date this time! Before you told me this was for the party, I thought for sure I was gonna see another instance of you failin' to--"
"Hey, hey!" The shorter Sun Devil nudges him back with just a little more force and fury than he was nudged with. “Would it kill you t’let me forget about that?”
“I mean this lovingly, but yeah, it would.”
If Death was in a better mood, the exchange between those two might have gotten him to crack something resembling a smile. Not that he's trying to eavesdrop, but they're both very easy to hear.
"Whatever," Sol mutters as he bites into his taco again, but even having his mouth part of the way full doesn't make him fully drop the subject. "Least I don't use my own truck for dates!"
It's Torto's turn to laugh now, loud enough that he might turn a few heads, but he doesn't really care if a few people he's never met hear him or not.
"Alright, alright, you got a point. You know the truck brings in all the hot people, though." He downs another sip of his drink, now having polished off about three quarters of the bottle. Drinking doubles as his excuse to stall for a better comeback--a tactic that ends up working. "At least I'm gettin' dates, period."
As mean as that might seem to someone else, Sol knows Torto well enough to know he doesn't mean that maliciously. He's too stubborn to admit it, but his brother is right. That doesn't mean he's down for the count yet, though.
"You gotta actually keep a date for it t'count, dumbass! You and I are both just as screwed as the other."
"Well played, shortstack," Torto concedes, still smiling warmly in spite of the traded insults, "well played."
"Wh--I'm not fuckin' short!" the blue-flamed Sun Devil protests.
The pure genuineness of Sol's reaction to being called short, especially after the rest of all that, makes Death start to move on from his sour mood a bit faster. He actually has to raise his head and take a breath to hide his own amusement. He didn't know dinner included a show tonight, but he's not complaining. He moves on to his second margarita, and tries dipping one of the tacos into the queso.
By the Creator, this is good.
The Sun Devils are soon locked in a not-so-vicious duel that really just consists of Torto managing to cover Sol's entire face with just one of his hands to push him backwards, which lasts all the way up until Sol licks his palm. This, understandably, succeeds in making Torto recoil.
"Oh my Prime--How fuckin' old are you again?" Torto wipes his hand off on his apron to clean it, but he still manages to look amused.
Solturion crosses his arms and puffs up his chest, proud of his ill-gotten victory despite the means he used to obtain it. "As you and the other Suns like t'remind me, pretty young for a Champion!"
Torto doesn't have a verbal response for that, but he does have a very large bottle of hand sanitizer behind the counter in his truck. Since Sol feels like being nasty, he's just going to have to counteract that by pointing the bottle at him and squirting him with a jet of the clear, chemical-scented liquid.
Judging by how Sol hisses and recoils when it hits him dead in the chest, another point is going to Torto.
If Death were to keep up with what's going on with those two now, he would have to actually turn around and look instead of just listening. As entertaining as this is, though, he's doing everything within his ability not to laugh in any audible way, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise that he's going to miss a few details.
A few margaritas from now, though, he might be humming a different tune. He's on this third, and he's to the point of visibly tensing to stop any sound from leaving his throat. It doesn't stop his shoulders from shaking, though.
Perhaps sensing his master is in a better mood--or perhaps smelling the scents of the wonderful food available here--Dust arrives, landing on the edge of the table and folding in his wings. The crow tilts his head this way and that, regarding the food items with interest.
Sol was content to trade insults, but now he's been hit, so clearly there's only one path left for him to take--the path to war. Sol begins to bounce up and down in place with his fists raised, as if he's a boxer in a ring preparing for a match. Hopping in place seems to help his cyan-blue flames burn brighter and brighter the more he moves.
"Alright, you want a brawl? I don't need a fuckin' arena t'make you eat that bottle of hand sanitizer!"
So their Sun Devil natures are going to be put on display in front of his tacos, are they? He's never one to turn down a good scrap, so Torto begins to mimic Sol's movements, though his are a little slower. "Bet! I'll make you the one doin' shots with it!"
With no regard for who's watching, Sol lunges for Torto, only to be grabbed by the horns and tossed a good ten feet away from the truck by his impromptu dueling partner. He lands gracefully on his hooves, so it seems Torto has only managed to piss him off.
The stripes lining his body begin to glow a bright violet as he taps into his divine power, fully ready to draw Ultima's blades in the name of a brawl witnessed only by the patrons of a taco truck who are probably veering away from being sober. That light begins to gather at his hooves and travel upwards along the stripes criss-crossing his body, all the way until it reaches his eyes, tinting them the very same ultraviolet color that Ultima's shine with, making it seem for a moment as if the god himself is peering out of Sol's body...
...only for his pupils to flash white, and for his stance to go limp as something else takes a hold of him, stripping him of his vision. The plaza fades away to be replaced by a grainy, unfocused vision of rolling plains that can only be located in the Outer Rings.
But the plains are not the focus of his vision. It's the unnatural crater left in front of him that has his full attention, and the lack of color surrounding it that makes his skin crawl—the lack of color that characterized the Antiprime’s influence in his reality.
Something black in the center of the crater stirs, sluggishly at first. It struggles to push itself upright even with arms of multiple sizes extending out from its mangled body and trying to push it upwards. The figure is lined with gashes that glow with pale light too bright to look at directly. Whatever the creature in his vision is, it’s clearly hurt.
The being falters, but gets itself right just enough for the eye in its chest to lock onto Sol, filling him with a chill so jarring that his body responds to it by jerking him out of the vision, almost as if in defense.
When his vision clears again, Sol is crouched on the pavement, with Torto knelt down in front of him, frantically trying to wave his hand in front of his face to get his attention. He only stops once Sol’s eyes visibly focus on him again.
“Sol—? Fuck, what’s the matter with you? Your eyes just went white!”
From his perspective, there was no change of scenery—only a friendly brawl dashed to pieces by watching his friend go limp under the influence of a power he hasn’t seen him invoke before.
… And the bird is gone again.
That doesn't sound like banter anymore. The Horseman half-turns to face the commotion, perhaps a bit more slowly than he might have a few drinks ago. He thinks for a moment his involvement may become warranted. It's mostly instinct, but something about that felt... off.
Sol blinks, unsure of how to handle whatever that just was, on top of Torto's panic. All he was trying to do was summon his blades, not ask for a hallucination he can't explain. He's not even sure if he should try to explain it.
"Shit, uh...look, I'm fine." He forces himself to stand, but whatever he's just experienced seems to have taken its toll on him. Sol ends up swaying a little bit when he attempts to right himself, forcing him to grab onto Torto's arm for support. That's definitely not helping his case. "I think, uh, I mighta just stayed awake too long or somethin'."
This has to have something to do with seeing a corpse yesterday morning, or with how he drank before that, or with how little sleep he's gotten beyond resting off his hangover...
Torto really doesn't know what to make of all of that either, but he knows it can't be good. "Man, I don't think you should be out here anymore. Y'want me to help you get back home?"
Embarrassed as he is to be in this mess now, he's still just a little too concerned to just shrug it off. Maybe Torto is right about him needing to head back to the temple...
"Yeah, uh...sure. Let's go."
Torto turns back to the guests as he hooks his arm over Sol's shoulder, pulling him in so he can fly without expending too much effort on steering himself. His tone is much more stern than anything he's used thus far, but he's attempting to keep his worry out of it in front of them.
"I'll be back in a bit. Don't mess with my truck while I'm gone."
With that, flames glowing both blue and gold engulf their bodies, and Torto lifts Sol off of the ground, slowly easing the two of them into the air before taking off in the direction of the Ultraviolet Temple.
As bad of a first impression as some of the other hosts running this event have given him, that display between Sol and Torto does have Death a little concerned. At the same time, this isn't his business, and right now, he has no idea how he could help anyway. Meddling would be unwise, no matter how good his intentions or well-justified his worry may be.
He'll just... have to keep an eye out, if he's still sticking around after tonight.

Well, Supernatural is actually ending and I don't know what I'll do
[ Brevity is not a strong suit of mine since I've included personal details but there's stuff I feel everyone in the SPN family needs to read]
You might be expecting another post about how Supernatural saved someone's life and how devastated they will be when it ends because they've watched it for so long as well as how the actors have impacted their lives. This is probably one of those but please hear me out.
Supernatural premiered in 2005 and I was in preparatory class (aged 5 years and was before I began 1st grade). I heard of it because my aunt would watch it time to time so I'd also tried to get some peeks myself but I wasn't allowed to because it was "too scary".
Then our local cable began to show seasons 1-5 and that was when everyone in class started watching and quoting it. This was in 6th grade and I was frustrated because I knew about it before most of them yet they acted like it was a new show. I had a fair idea about the story but once I began watching it, I fell in love with it and loved it like a part of my soul.
Yes, Jensen Ackles was my first crush but I still thought (and do think) that both he and Jared are super hot. So I was sucked into this vortex, this Neverland which I never thought I would end.
I joined Tumblr for this show in 2013 because I saw the jokes about there being a Supernatural gif everywhere and wanted to be a part of the fandom/community. This was also the year I actually became interested what other fans felt though I never used this site properly until 2016 I would read the IMDb discussion boards because I hated scurrying through Destiel-infested posts.
(Fun fact:I wasn't using any social media of my own but on my mother's Facebook I liked a Supernatural fan page asking people's opinions on Destiel. This is was around the time season 8 was just finishing or had already finished so I read the comments--- people talked about Dean and Castiel being gay and didn't approve of it as there was this one girl who was conservative and didn't believe in homosexuality while others went on how Dean was always a ladies man which I agreed with. Not that I commented but I thought there was something I missed and I thought Castiel used Dean as a vessel, thus Destiel.)
But I digress. I was in deep by the time season 9 premiered and majority of the people I knew stopped watching the show except for this girl who bullied me throughout preschool who put up this update that Dean had become a demon. I doubt she watches the show now but it was hard seeing her put pictures of "I heart Dean Winchester" and pictures of Jensen when my mom asked me why I don't do the same.
Supernatural, I feel, has become that embarrassing thing you are into in middle school but suddenly drop when you're older, looking back and thinking, "Yeesh, I can't believe I used to watch this show."
I'll be a grown woman at 30 or 40 and probably eventually in my 70s and 80s but I will still look back fondly, the good, the bad and the ugly because I have like many teenagers have undergone many changes (friends, family, emotions, hobbies etc) but Supernatural has always been this constant in my life.
Because let me tell you, I'm seeing these posts saying stuff like how people are glad that it's finally over with its "bullshit" and that's it's dying. That is extremely disrespectful and insensitive to those people who literally live for it, who have invested time and money into it: gif makers, artists, meta writers (I may not agree with you guys but even you count). They don't know what to do once the show ends because it has helped them in ways others will never ever be able to fathom.
I saw the video put up by the guys. I saw and I could tell that Jared, Jensen and Misha had probably cried their guts out before the announcement because their eyes were red and puffy. Jared was controlling himself by talking less as Jensen was clearly on the verge as well but yes they said that they should save the angst for next year.
I love the guys; I love Jared being a goofball and Jensen being equally goofy as well and I'll say this too, I used to enjoy some of Misha's crass jokes (not the highlight ) as well which was why I looked forward to the gag reel every summer (because of J2) because it was cathartic after a traumatic season finale. I love the witty banter and the pranks the cast would do and I will miss it tremendously.
I have some issues with my aunt but everything would be okay when we would fawn over the guys and bingewatch the entire season the summer after it finished airing. We'd quote quotes back and forth and even spiritually killed ourselves watching short clips of "Sammy, close your eyes", "I'm proud of us" etc. Hell, she even promised me that when we go visit my uncle in the States we'd attend a con together.
If, and whenever we do go, it'll be different because the show won't be on air anymore and I know for a fact that I won't feel the anticipation of an episode.
So don't say disrespectful and callous things like "fucking finally". You can dislike the cast/plotline/show but don't ridicule and mock those who invested in the show, some of you are most probably speculating and have barely seen it.
I'm not some dumb, blind fan. I can see some stupid mistakes and don't always eat up what the writers show. For example, everyone must have figured that I dislike Destiel because it's based on groundless assumptions. I thought the Bloodlines was a crap idea that had nothing to do with the main plot and knew it was destined to fail.
As for Wayward Daughters/Sisters or whatever the fuck it was supposed to be called, I was not looking forward to it at all because it was one of those "forced diversity" shows, y'know gender bent stuff.
I felt that they were bastardising everything that Supernatural has and will (always) stand for because some people had a hair up their backsides. Yeah, I loathed Claire and that Kaia mourning thing was bullshit. Thank goodness I was sick that day and couldn't keep my eyes open for that episode.
If we were told that there would be a Men of Letters(with Henry Winchester) or even a Bobby-Rufus spinoff I would be okay with that but for now since the show will finish next year let's the wounds heal first, shall we?
I hope that Jared and Jensen get some offers once the show is done and I will pay good money to see movies, TV shows of them etc but for now I will keep quiet since I hope we get an ending we (and the boys) deserve.
Yes, the writer situation scares me and I think they should call Eric Kripke for a last hurrah. I mean, it is his baby and he should get to have a say in the series finale as well as J2.
Will one of the brothers die and the other will live (I'm worried we'll get a reverse Swan Song)? Will they both die leaving Cas behind and Jack as some sort legacy who trains future hunters? That would be a possibility since the sheriff in 14.16 asked the Winchesters why they don't tell people about monsters. What happens to Baby?
I seriously doubt the ending will be happy(maybe not 100%) but the best thing would be if they go driving with Baby into the sunset...
Dean at the steering wheel with Sam riding shotgun, where they should be ---- where they will always be, home. Dean plays his "mullet rock" as Sam would playfully mock his brother's musical choices. No chick flick moments. Just the Winchesters.
The boys need to lay their weary heads to rest, so they can cry no more. Because they are the legendary Winchesters, the hunters who saved the world countless times unbeknownst to many. I don't think their work will ever be done but there will be peace when they are done and how they will reach that point we'll never know till 2020.
Everyone will hear "Carry on wayward son" for the last time ever in Supernatural over a painful montage of "Dad's gone on a hunting trip and he hasn't been home in a few days" and "Saving people, hunting things, the family business". Now who in this fandom wouldn't be wracked with pain?
This is the show we all joked about that made a deal with the devil to never go off air but I did expect this a long time ago. Only thing was that I didn't know how I'd treat the news. I was that person who would go, "pfft, of course Supernatural would get renewed". Then again, this was the show that an ending was imminent and the whole season 4 debacle about Misha and the angel storyline saving the show blah blah blah.
So next year, everyone will flock to see the finale and epic conclusion to the Winchester saga whether they stopped at season 5,6,7 or 10,12. Diss it all you want for the shit show it may have become but wherever you left off, you may still want to know what happens to Sam and Dean Winchester in the end.
Once Supernatural ends, I'll turn 20 next summer and I would like to think of it being poetic that I end my adolescence with a show I have loved when I brave the cold, ruthless world of adulthood. I'm a picky person and can't say what's my favorite xyz is but you know what I'll say about my favorite TV show.
We will have completed 327 episodes which is the highest for a scifi TV show so I do hope the boys get some sort of recognition. It was us crazy bitches and jerks that gave the show the mileage and it was us that gave Jared and Jensen faith that they could carry on so for the remainder of season 14 and for 15,support these guys. Support these annoyingly sexy and ridiculously hilarious dudes for this show. I'm sure Jared and Jensen love the show like it's their kid practically but I wish everyone would just shut up, tinhatters, bronlies, stans, destihellers because we are all fans of the one show so let's ease the time we have left.
But seriously imagine Sam and Dean on a desert highway, the orange and yellow rays of the setting sun make Baby shine in all her splendor which makes Dean swell with pride. He starts the engine with a low rumble and they're off. They might to California to feel the sand beneath their feet or to Disneyland. They're living the "apple pie life" and this is their personal heaven : with each other.
I wouldn't mind this playing in the background if the ending is the inevitable and unspeakable you know what :
It's wishful thinking, since I wish they'd actually play some Zeppelin instead of song titles being used as episode titles but I wish they could use some Queen or Guns n Roses and stuff before 1979 because everything sucked ass afterwards according to Dean.
I want the classic rock resurgence in the show as well but I know they'll end up using the cash elsewhere. I wouldn't mind a body swap episode but if wishes were horses, right?

(AoT) Family - Sister!Reader x Brother!Levi
Anime / Crossover: Attack on Titan
Songs: None
Request: No
Modern AU or just AU: No
NSFW/R-18: No
------------------------------------------------------------------
I feel like this is a no brainer, but just to be clear, this is a PLATONIC one-shot. no romance is included and the only love is family love.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I sigh in annoyance as Jean and Eren start bickering again, ultimately stopping their cleaning process given to them by Captain. I knit my eyebrows in anger as they start screaming louder and louder at each other while I was trying to meditate to find drawing inspiration. I slam my drawing pad down on the table and push up off said table, standing up and glaring at the two. "Do you two mind?" I growl in anger. "Mind your own business, bitch." Jean barks and I walk over to them with steam blowing out of my ears. "You wanna say that again?" I ask as I look up at him and place my hand on my hips. "Keep. Your. Nose. Out of it." He says before pushing me away. "Tch." I click my tongue before turning and walking back to the table. "Have fun cleaning this room on your own, assholes. If it's not done properly, Captain's gonna gut you two like fishes." I grab my things and walk out of the generally empty room. I hear them bickering again and I sigh before storming back to my room.
I close the door behind me and walk over to my desk, placing my drawing pad down. I let out a breath of air before closing my eyes and looking for inspiration. "Got too much for you, huh?" I hear my friend say from my bathroom door. "What do you want Hange?" I ask, keeping my eyes closed. "My toilet's broken, so I was just using yours. I hope you don't mind." I shrug and pick up a pencil before finishing the drawing. "How are they coming along?" She asks as she peers over my shoulder. "Alright. Is this the kinda thing you wanted?" I ask as I show her the finished drawing of Sawney and Bean. "Yes! Thank you!" I sigh and rip out the page, handing it to her. "Why do you keep asking me to draw the Titan's you capture after they die?" I ask and she smiles softly. "I like to remember them once they've gone." I shrug before hearing a knock on the door. "Come in!" I yell out as I lean one arm over the back of the chair. "I thought I told you to use the outhouse Shitty Glasses." I smirk at Hange as Corporal Levi walks in angrily glaring at Hange.
"What's this?" He asks as he takes the paper from Hange. "I asked Y/N to draw Sawney and Bean for me." She replies as I wave at him and he hands it back to her. "Tch, why?" He asks and Hange spends FOREVER explaining her motivation. "And then-" "Oh my god! Hange!" I yell at her as I saw Levi beginning to fall asleep from her speech. "Yes?" She asks with a smile. "We get it, you don't need to give us a whole welcoming speech." I say and she laughs awkwardly. "Sorry, I got a little carried away." I hear Captain scoff from my bed that was next to my desk. "Yeah, no shit. Get back to your paperwork." He orders and she walks out with a nod. "Within all these walls, I've never met someone who talks as much as her." I say as I lean back in my chair and yawn slightly. "You don't have to tell me. So how'd Jaeger and Kirstein get on with cleaning the mess hall?" Captain asks and I scoff. "How do you think it went?" I ask sarcastically. "Tch, they need to learn to get on more." I smirk as I remember our bet. "Hey, Levi." I say as I smirk at him. "I win. It only took 5 minutes for them to start fighting. Hand over the $5." I chuckle as he rakes out the money. "Can I?" He asks as he reaches out for my drawing book. I nod and hand it to him.
"You're drawings are getting better." He says as he looks through my book. "Yeah, well I've got better resources here. All I had was charcoal in The Underground." I remind him and he nods. "How are you finding this place, the HQ I mean." He asks, handing my book back. "Well, it's no shitty, broken down house underground, but it'll do I guess." I joke as he ruffles my hair, just like he used to when we were kids. "Your jokes ate getting worse Y/N." He says with a smirk and I stick my tongue out at him. "You should know they've always been bad Onii-chan!" I say with a giggle. "Yeah, don't remind me." I smile and grab my pencil again. "There's something I've been working on for you." I flip through the pages of my drawing book and stop on a page that had a picture of a beautiful, black-haired beauty sketched onto the paper. "Here." I say as I write a quick note that said 'Kuchel Ackerman' on the paper and hand it to him.
Tumblr media
His face drops more than usual. "You drew mom?" He asks and I smile sadly. "Yeah, I couldn't think of anything else to draw." I say and he smiles at me. "You miss her huh?" I bite my lip, trying to hold in my tears and nod. "I'm sure she'd be very proud of you Y/N if she were here." I nod as another knock is heard from the door. "Name and Business." I chuckle at Levi's demand of the mystery person. "E...Eld Jinn, Sir. I've come to drop off some documents to Y/N." I shrug my shoulders and he lets Eld in. "Here you go, Ma'am." He says as he hands me, the assisting Captain to my brother, the paperwork. "Thank your Eld." I say as I place them on my desk. "Is that all?" I ask and he shakes his head. "The rookies are starting to get fired up again." I sigh and stand up. "Where are they?" I ask and he tells me.
Time Skip
"Tch, couldn't they have chosen a place that wasn't so dusty?" I ask myself as I walk down the stairs to the basement. "Jean. What's the point in chastising Eren now?" I hear a voice say and I sigh, knowing I'd have to break up Jean and Eren again. As I got closer to the group of people, I stopped and waited in the shadows. "Y'know Mikasa...not everyone is willing to needlessly die for Eren like you." Jean says and I click my tongue before walking up to them and swinging a fist at him. "What the hell was that for?!" He yells at me before I begin kicking and stomping on him. I grab his hair and pull him up. I snarl at him for a second before throwing him onto the ground. "None of you may be willing to die for Eren, but that's too bad. Eren is our best hope in these times and you all need to have respect for him." I say as I turn to the other cadets in the room. "If you want to go out there, not trusting Eren and become Titan shit for no reason, be my guest, but if you want to go out there with some trust in him, you might actually live. No one like a defeatist attitude." I say as I look down on Jean. "All we're asking of Eren is for a guarantee." He says and I kick him again. "No one in this world has a guarantee, but we do have hope. If you really want it that badly, I'll give you a guarantee. A guarantee that should Eren ever go out of control, turn on us or give up completely, Captain Levi and myself will be there to get him up and on the right path because we have high hopes for him when he does learn to control his power." I say before they all salute and I walk off. I place my hand on Eren's shoulder as I walk past him and give him a nod before walking back upstairs.
"You deal with those two?" Levi asks and I nod. "Beat the shit out of Jean, just like you taught me." I joke before he ruffles my hair again. "Who was in charge of cleaning the basement?" I ask as I reach the mess hall, where Levi's squad was hanging out. "Here." Oluo says as he cockily smirks at me. "Redo the whole thing." I say and he just laughs. "Yeah right, have you seen how big the basement is? You're lucky I cleaned it once." He remarks before I walk up to him and kick the inside of his knee, causing him to fall to the ground. "Redo it." I demand before throwing him towards the door. "Tch, fine." He says before walking out. "Yep, there's no doubt about it. You are definitely Shorty's sister." I hear Hange say before the doors burst open. "Captain!" I hear one of the Commander's assistants yell. "What?" My brother asks as the assistant was trying to catch his breath. "The 58th expedition is about to depart." He salutes and walks out before He orders us to get our horses ready. "I'll go get the cadets." I say before walking down to the basement again.
Time Skip
I pull up the mask that was covering the lower half of my face from the wind. I was on my own, like many others. I jump slightly before sharply turning my horse around and seeing a Titan chasing Sasha Blouse, who was quite a far way away from me. I click my tongue and race towards her, trying to save her before she was eaten. I see a red smoke come out from under the Titan's foot. She must've dropped the flare. "Blouse! Over here!" I hear her senpai yell as I get closer. "Let Y/N handle it!" He yells and she looks back at me before I jump off my horse and attach onto the Titans neck. I spin around and cut a chunk out of the nape, causing the Titan to fall to the ground. "Tch, filthy." I say as I wipe down my sword, even though the Titan blood had already evaporated. "Y/N!" Sasha cries happily as she runs up to me and thanks me endlessly. "No time for thanks, get on your horse and keep going." I say and she nods, jumps on her horse and continues on her path. I jump on my horse and make my way to the meeting point, where I was going to meet up with Levi's Squad and join them.
Levi's POV
"Tch, where is she?" I ask as my squad and I wait for my sister to get here. "She'll be here soon Heichou." Eren says and I click my tongue. "We can't spend any more time waiting for her Captain. It's already been 20 minutes." I strike a glare at Oluo and he quickly looks away before a purple flare is seen from Y/N's direction. "Shit." I say before making my horse run off towards her location. "C...CAPTAIN!" I hear my squad yell before I hear the horse hooves following after me.
Tumblr media
I can't lose you Y/N, not you. I think to myself as my breath became heavy and my heart began to ache. I saw dead Titan's lying everywhere and see a broken down house wall. I jump off my horse and run over to the wall, seeing Y/N's horse laying on the ground, dead. "L...Levi?" I hear a soft voice ask and I jump through the broken wall as my squad stops next to my horse. "Y/N!" I say happily before looking down and frowning. "What happened?" I ask as I see only one of her legs and the other replaced by a pool of blood. "W...where are you?" She asks as she reaches out in the opposite direction to me. "I'm over here Y/N. Here." I say as I pull her head towards me. "Am....am I going to live?" She asks and I nod my head as she begins touching my face. "Yes, yes of course. We'll get you back to the Infirmary and fix you up." I say as my Squad walks up behind me. "Heichou....even if we do get her back, there....there's no one to give her medical attention." I turn around and punch Eren square in the face. "Shut the fuck up Jaeger!" I scream at him as he falls to his knees.
"Levi!' I hear a voice that would usually annoy me, but in these circumstances, I was glad. "Hange, you need to help Y/N." I say as I try to keep my tears in and she looks at Y/N's pale and tired face. "Levi....where....where did you go?" She asks and I bend down to her and grab her hand softly. "I'm right here, don't worry." I whisper to her as Hange kneels down to her leg. "It's pretty bad, but if we get back I might be able to fix it. No guarantee though." She says and I pick up my sister, causing her to cry in pain. "D...don't move me....it hurts..." She begs and Hange sighs before whistling her horse over and grabbing the first-aid kit she always carried. "I don't have anything to dull the pain or put her to sleep, but I'll have to do it here. She's in no condition to be moved." Hange says as she gets on some gloves and orders her squad and mine to watch out for Titan's around us. "Y/N, can you hear me?"  She asks as I hold onto my sisters hand tightly. "H...Hange?" She asks and Hange smiles to herself. "Yes, now I'm going to try and fix your leg, okay? I don't have anything to numb the pain, so it's gonna hurt a lot." She says before sticking the needle into my sister's leg, causing her to scream out and open her eyes fully in pain.
-Time Skip-
After a few hours, Y/N's leg was fixed and surprisingly enough she didn't pass out. "There, done. Are you alright Y/N?" Hange asks as she tells me to give her some water. "Y...Yeah, thank you." She says with a smile as I try to pull her up onto my horse and take her back to HQ. "I can ride back on my own." She says. "Your horse is dead Y/N. I'm taking you back to HQ so you can rest." I say. "Fine." She says as I hop up as well and begin riding off. "Hange, meet up with Erwin and tell him my squad is no longer part of the expedition." I say before my squad and I go back to HQ.
Your POV
"Here you go. Lie down." I hear Levi say as he walks me over to my bed and lays me down. "Thank you for saving me." I say with a smile as he grabs me a glass of water. "Don't mention it." He says before walking out and walking back in after a few minutes. "Here. Hange made this if something were to happen and someone needed their leg cut off. I think you might need it." He says as he hands me a prosthetic leg. "Thank you, Levi. I'm sorry for making you worry. Braus was under attack so I went to save her and got overrun once I got back on my horse." I say and put my new leg on. I had straps like our uniform, but they were used to hold the leg up. The rest of it was just basic wood. "I'm not going to be able to fight now...or at least for awhile." I say before he ruffles my hair again and hugs me softly. "I won't let that happen again, I'm sorry for not being there."I feel a few tears falling onto my back.
"I can't lose the last person in my family."

recipe for disaster: epilogue
Tumblr media
The flickering lights of the television dance across the dim flat, illuminating that patch of wall, this edge of carpet in a haphazard, frolicking manner. The wall is the same shade of worn paint as it was three years and five months ago, the carpet only a bit more ragged, fringe torn off by the late onset of canine teething.
The light skitters on over until it crosses the occupants of the sofa, playing over where an arm loops around a waist here, another around a shoulder there.
They're a tangle of limbs and lungs and fingers under mounds and mounds of fabric.
Head resting on the space where shoulder broadens into chest, Penn huddles closer into the warm body beside her as her eyelids began to droop.
"Duck or lamb?" she mutters, mind still on the same track it had been five hours ago when she began her journey through revamping the menu at work.
Ashton traces a pattern in the fine hairs at the nape of her neck, letting his hand splay across the back of her skull and cradle her head, before he responds. "If I don't have to look at it alive before I eat it, lamb. Never been much of a duck person. Roasted or alive."
"Okay," she mumbles back. The sitcom on the television is a rerun, one they've seen at least ten times before, but she knows that he still finds the jokes funny from the way his chest shakes with contained laughter.
Eight minutes later, she's debating the merits of cutting down the appetizers in favor of increasing the dessert offerings while the bloke on the telly is flailing about with what seems to be a large cod in a public park.
"Y'know, I love sleeping over and all, but I think it’s time we make some, er, alternate arrangements." His voice startles her, half hearing it, half feeling it thunder along through his body.
"Hm?" That’s concerning. Penn looks up at Ashton, the light from the television flitting about enough to catch the hazel in his eyes. He's still looking at the screen, mouth still in the remnants of a smile from the punchline.
"Move in with me."
Oh.
Definitely less concerning.
Tipping her head back down, she gives it a thought and snuggles back in towards him.
"Okay. But how about you move in with me instead?"
She can't keep the terrace greenhouse if she moves out of her flat. Plus Ashton's over at hers more than he is at his anyway. And she likes the way all the windows in the kitchen are perfectly placed to frame the sun when it breaks above the skyline.
A rumbling chuckle reverberates, shaking the quilt draped over her shoulders.
"Okay," he says. And then, "I love you," because the novelty of dropping the in with part two months ago still hasn't worn off yet.
"I love you, too."
(In fact, the novelty will probably never wear off.)
"Y'know, you've got a lot more stuff than I had thought. I'm not so sure that it's all going to fit."
Penn winces as the edge of a stack of textbooks bites her shin where she's squeezing through the doorway with boxes balanced in her arms.
Ashton sighs dramatically, pausing in stretching out clear packing tape to close up loose seams in the boxes designated to go into storage. The tape has determined, however, that its forever-home is not the cardboard, but instead all over Ashton's hands.
"That's it, we're just going to have to downsize. Cardy, Clove, it's time for you to leave the nest. Go on. Be free."
Two sets of reproachful eyes look up at him, affronted by his socked foot nudging at their bellies.
Penn rolls her own eyes at him and pushes open the slider door to trot back over to her flat. Looking back over her shoulder before her feet hit the concrete of the terrace, her face scrunches up in concern.
"Are you going to be okay for a few minutes while I push some boxes around to make room?"
He laughs, flapping fingers covered in tape at her as Luke pops his head out of the bedroom, reassuring her that he's at least got things under control.
"I'll send him over in a bit with more, Penn."
She waves at him briefly in acknowledgement before heading back over, Clove scampering at her heels.
All in all, for all the fussing and complaining going on about who moves where and what part of which lease applies to which person and something about accidental subletting that she thinks they've finally worked out, Penn's happy with the new arrangement.
Ashton is moving in with her, bringing the total amount of occupants in her one bed, one bath flat to a grand total of four, including the dogs. And, Luke is going to move into Ashton's, a more comfortable one person to one room ratio, she has to admit.
After a few years of saving up money by living with his older brothers and spurred by the necessity of a new place due to said older brothers graduating, the newly-vacated flat perfectly fits Luke's bill.
Which is great, because Penn was a little nervy and not quite comfortable with the possibility of sharing the terrace with someone she didn't know, although Ashton assures her that their new neighbor will still probably be at the library more than at home anyway.
In any case, things worked out for the best in the planning and legalities.
In coordinating the actual moving, however, not so much.
She was able to take the day off to help out, and Ash and Luke didn't have classes. However, Louis and Niall found themselves conveniently tied up at the restaurant, Zayn was predictably out of the country, and Calum on an extended family vacation.
Which minimized their small group of potential coerced laborers to Michael, who said he'd stop by if he wasn't busy.
Which hasn’t happened yet.
But, Penn is pleasantly surprised by a knock at the door while she’s shifting around a potted plant in the corner of the living room to make way for Ashton’s growing footwear collection - one pair of nice leather boots and now he’s a shoe connoisseur - and opens it to a shock of lavender hair and long, tanned limbs.
“Hiiiiiiiiiii,” Michael drawls out with a grin, flapping a hand in greeting as he steps through the doorway. “Wasn’t sure where you’d all be, but figured that you might be here. Or someone might be here. Or Ash. Ash is always here.”
The girl behind him - a girl that she's never seen before in her life - snickers openly. “He’s really just saying that. We came here first because it was closer to the stairs. And we brought bagels!”
She proudly displays the baked goods as Penn helps them navigate the sea of Ashton's things until they can reach the kitchen.
Setting the bagels on the scant free counter space, Michael mumbles, "It's like five fucking flights, okay? Would it kill you to petition for an elevator or something? Oh, and Tal wanted to bring a housewarming gift. On my employee discount, of course."
Tal's rebuttal is cut off by the arrival of a set of plastic storage tubs and Ashton, while Penn leans against the cabinets and tries to remember why that name sounds so familiar.
"Mikey! You made it!" Ash spreads his arms wide after setting down the tubs nearly on top of Penn's feet.
Sidestepping a sweaty hug, he replies, "Not for long! Can't stay to help, actually. Sorry about that, Tal -"
"I'll take that hug," she announces, stepping forward into Ashton's still outstretched arms. "Glad to see things all worked out after all."
Ah. Tal.
Tal of the silhouettes.
Mikey's girlfriend, Tal.
Penn takes a closer look, suddenly ridiculously interested in Michael’s choice of women.
Thin and tall turns into a sharply angled, deeply tanned face. That comes along with an easy, laughing smile, a brilliant white standing out from darker-complected skin. Deep brown eyes are divided by a strong nose and framed by dramatically-arching eyebrows settled on a high forehead.
In other words, a face that wouldn't seem out of place on the cover of one of the friendlier-looking fashion magazines, with a body to match.
She shoots Ashton a meaningful glance - one that says introduce me, goddamnit - as she unpacks the bagels from their cardboard carrier.
But Tal beats him to the punch, calling out, “And you must be Penn! It’s so nice to finally meet you in person, I’ve heard quite a bit about you!”
Penn's hit with that gleaming grin and is momentarily stunned by the light bouncing from it, blinking rapidly as she tries to recover.
Tal fills in the awkward silence without skipping a beat.
"Wow, Mike, didn't even mention that you had a girlfriend, did you?" she says as she elbows him in the side.
Penn regains her words as Michael chokes on a bite of bagel that he's stolen over Ashton's protests that those really weren't his anymore.
"No, no, Ashton told me about you. It's very nice to meet you as well." She smiles, rounding the bend in the counter.
They have time for one enthusiastic handshake before Tal catches sight of the clock in the living room - "So cute! Oh, shit!" - and realises that they should have been at the tube station approximately nine minutes ago.
Leaving as they came, Michael's flash of lavender is the last Penn sees before Tal pulls him into the hallway.
Luke steps in just as the main door closes with a stack of milk crates in his arms, saying, "I found these in the back of your closet - are those bagels? I'm starved."
“Yeah,” Ashton replies nonchalantly, taking one dusted with chocolate chips from the plate Penn’s laid a few out on. “Mike just brought them over. Just missed him and Tal.”
Penn jumps nearly out of her skin as Luke slams his hand on the counter.
“Damnit! Every time, I swear to God.”
And then he goes to the fridge and pulls out a water bottle to chug moodily.
Pushing her shoulder into Ash, where he’s polishing off the bottom half of the bagel with ease, she gives him another meaningful glance that translates this time into a whole set of concerned question marks.
He takes the time to lick off the residual chocolate from his index finger before he responds. “It’s this thing between Luke and Michael. Like, Luke said something about not believing Mike would ever get a girl, and so now he takes Tal to meet everyone except for Luke. Luke doesn’t even know what she looks like.”
The plastic of the bottle is dangerously close to implosion in Luke’s fist, so Penn looks at him with great caution, still not sure that this whole thing doesn't qualify as one hugely ridiculous overreaction.
“Smiley. Very smiley.” Penn hopes this'll be enough to save the water bottle.
It crushes under the pressure anyway, but Luke's shoulders slump. "S'okay, really. He'll break, eventually."
Instead of continuing to try and console a mopey man-child twice her size, Penn turns to the plastic tubs Ashton had brought over, grabbing a blueberry bagel at the same time. Looping it on her finger, she nibbles at the edges as she picks out a battered biscuit tin. The paint is red and chipped, the image of gingersnaps on the top mostly worn away, rust collecting at the rim of the lid. It rattles as she shakes it, sounding as if there were a whole hoard of coins or buttons shifting around inside.
And as far as she knows, Ashton's never fixed a button in his life
"What is this?" she asks, gesturing with it towards him. He doesn't see her though, so she takes it upon herself to prise it open. Surprisingly enough, the top pops off without too much effort.
Bottle caps.
Bunches of brightly coloured, strangely marked bottle caps.
Penn sticks her hand in and scoops up a bunch, marvelling at the sheer number of caps as she lets them slip through her fingers and fall back down into the tin.
"Oh, those?" Ashton seems to have finally noticed, turning away from Luke and towards where she's begun to spread a few on the surface of the counter. "Those are all my gramps'. Well, really he’s my great-uncle, but we always just called him Gramps."
Penn's heard of strange collections, and she understands sentimentality quite a bit - she still pays rent on Gran's brownstone and drops by every couple of days to tend the garden - but still, bottle caps?
He goes on to explain, noticing the look on her face. "Gramp always said that anything worth celebrating everything should be done with a cold beer. Obviously he thought that there were a lot of things deserving of beer, and he kept the cap from every one of them. There's even one from the day I was born in there, but I think it's actually from a hard cider instead."
Ashton thumbs the top of a sunny yellow cap with a logo written in illegible, blocky red lettering before setting it back in the pile and digging his fingers down to the bottom of the tin.
"But the main point was to celebrate all the things in life worth being happy about. I keep these to remind me that life has a lot of those moments, some big and a lot small, and sometimes we just forget to recognise them as remarkable, memorable."
She just takes a hold of his hand and doesn’t say a thing.
(She ends up picking up a few small shadow boxes from an antique shop on High Street the next day and divides up the caps between them.
They hang on the small stretch of wall just above the kitchen table and glint in the first light of the morning sun.)
Two weeks after the move and she’s still not used to the way he arranges the condiments in the refrigerator.
Reaching for the hot sauce - normally on the top left, underneath the light and right next to the butter - she brings it all the way over to the plate before realising that it’s not hot sauce.
It’s mustard.
She doesn't even like mustard.
Scrubbing at her eyes with curled up fist, still in the throes of 5 a.m. drowsiness, she tosses the bottle behind her where it lands with a clatter in the sink. Ashton can pick it up later when he does the dishes.
Penn bends down towards the fridge again, closing her eyes to guard against the bright white light of the interior, finally plucking the hot sauce from the bottommost right-hand shelf.
Tucking it underneath her arm, she gathers up the plate and forks in on hand, juggles two mugs in the other, and shuffles her way back down the hall to the bedroom.
He's still in the dazy sort of half-sleep, sheets rucked down to his waist, face partially pressed into the downy pillow, so she sets her cargo down on the side table and climbs back in beside him. Penn snuggles into the warmth of his body, lifting up one outstretched arm so she can wriggle underneath it, letting it settle as a comfortable weight across her shoulders.
She takes his stillness as an opportunity to study him with her own eyes at half-mast, but, within five minutes of memorizing how the ringlets of honey-coloured hair curl around the tops of his ears, his nose scrunches up once, twice, before he cracks a hazel eye open.
"Is tha' coffee I smell?" he murmurs, lifting his head off the pillow to scent the air, and she nods as she brings up a hand to push the crumpled waves off his forehead.
"An' eggs. Made s'me eggs, too."
The arm over her shoulder tightens and curls, pulling her in closer until he can tuck her head under his chin. "G'bless. You're th' best thing."
"Mm, I know," she mumbles back as he presses a kiss to her forehead.
His answering smile is the sunrise.
("Y'know, th' food's gonna get cold if we wait much longer."
"'M comfy here, though."
"Slaved over that, I did. Over a hot stove. For you."
"I know, love.")

Woke up in Japan - S.S.

Sebastian Stan x Reader
'It's enough to let the night let go of me. A few steps into the open doorway. Heart pounding, there's a noise complaint from room 304.'

Sebastian shifted on the soft sheets, groaning as the sun was shining directly onto his face. He rubbed his eyes and sat up slowly. His head was pounding, pain shooting across his spine. "What the f-" His own groan of pain interrupted him. Did he really had that much last night?
Leaning his back against the headboard of the hotel bed, he took a deep breath. As he shifted slightly, he only realized that he wasn't, in fact, wearing any clothes. That was new. When he was drunk, he either still managed to at least get rid of his pants and jacket, or he would just pass out in his suit. He never had the energy to get completely naked. Grabbing the water bottle from his bedside table, he tried to remember the events of last night.
~
"This is amazing!" A bright smile was on your face as your eyes flew over the tons of neon lights and colorful shops. Sebastian grinned at you, amused by your excitement. "Never been to Japan?" You shook your head, your eyes barely blinking out of fear to miss something. "Never had the time or possibilities to." "I offered you a thousand times to join me on a trip!" Chris Evans, your older brother, came up beside you to throw his arm over your shoulder. "I have a job as well. Be happy that i could convince my boss to give me a week off. They're going down without me, I'm holding the whole company up." You retorted with fake arrogance, making both men laugh.
Chris had introduced you to basically everyone of his marvel coworkers. They were all very sweet to you, but since the beginning you've been closest with Sebastian. He was a real gentleman, always making sure you were okay when Chris wasn't there to do the job. What you didn't know was that he did it because he had a tiny crush on you.
You had spend the first days exploring the city while your brother and friends were busy with their press tour. You tried to spend as much time as possible with them though. "How does a bar sound?" Robert suggested one evening, earning agreement from everyone. "Is Holland even old enough to drink?" You asked grinning, earning an angry glance from Tom while everyone else laughed. Even though you were only a couple years older as him, you liked to treat him like a 16 year old, just like everyone else.
The bar you decided on wasn't too crowded. You all sat down in two booth, you in the middle of one between Sebastian and Chris. "Shots for everyone!" Jeremy cheered. "I'm taking yours, you're definitely not getting wasted here." Chris said to you as the drinks arrived. You shot him a glare before taking his shot as well as yours, downing them at the same time. You coughed a little as your throat burned, but the look on Chris' face was worth it. "I like her." Sebastian grinned as he downed his shot as well, making you laugh.
This was just the beginning.
~
The memory of Chris' face made Sebastian chuckle. He's never seen the guy so shocked. Sebastian never imagined you to be a girl who could take a lot of Alcohol, but you proved him. wrong last night. He shook his head, grinning. He quickly regained himself, trying to remember what happened later.
~
"You don't think you've had enough?" Sebastian chuckled beside you as you tried to find the straw of your cocktail with your lips. You just scoffed at him. "I'm fine."
The group of people has already gotten smaller. Most of them, including your brother, already left. But not before telling Sebastian to look after you. Which was a dumb idea since Sebastian was just as drunk as you.
"Y'know, this was a great evening, but we should call it a night." Robert suggested, downing the rest of his beer. You all nodded in agreement, downing the rest of your drinks as well before making your way back to the hotel which, luckily, wasn't too far away. But the way was harder than you thought. Sebastian and you constantly clung onto each other, trying to keep on walking while giggling. The rest of the group was busy keeping themselves to walk straight.
"I can bring you to your room." Sebastian suggested as you arrived at the hotel, grinning down at you. You broke down in giggles. "We're on the same floor. On the same hallway" "Ohh yeah I forgot." Sebastian replied, laughing as well.
As you reached the third floor, you stopped at his door. "Here we are." He simply said, not making a move to open the door. "Here we are." You repeated, nodding. "The night was fun." Sebastian went on, clearly not wanting to leave. "Yeah it was." You smiled.
Then you stood there, just looking into each other's eyes. Sebastian lips parted slightly, his eyes falling to your mouth. It took you a second before you pulled him towards you, pressing your lips against his. Sebastian almost fell in the process, returning the kiss. It was messy, all tongue and teeth, and he groaned against you as you lightly tugged on his hair. "Your room, now." You muttered against his lips. Sebastian just nodded weakly, opening the door before leading you inside. He closed the door behind him, only to press you against it, your mouths still moving hungrily against each other.
~
This time Sebastian groaned out of pure embarrassment. You were Chris' sister for God's sake. He wasn't allowed to kiss you. Not like he did last night. "He's going to kill me." Sebastian muttered to himself, lifting himself off the bed to take a shower while the remaining memories of last night played in his mind.
~
"Jesus Christ." You whimpered, your head thrown back as Sebastians hips moved against you. You could feel his heart pounding against you, racing just as much as your own. He moaned above you, his eyes shut tightly as his hands gripped the sheets on both sides of your body. "You feel so good, fuck." He muttered breathless, his lips falling to your neck to suck on the sensetive skin. "So damn tight."
"Shit, Sebastian!" You moaned, gripping his hair and tugging. He growled against your neck, the pace of thrusts picking up as he searched his release. "Oh my-fuck!" You almost screamed as he grazed the right spot. He chuckled, his mouth finding yours. "You gotta keep quiet, baby." He muttered against your lips, smiling as you groaned. He leaned his forehead against yours, his bottom lip between his teeth as he neared his climax. "I'm so damn close, shit." He warned, his jaw clenched. "Me too, come on." You whimpered in response. It only took a couple more thrust for you to fall over the edge, his hand covering your mouth as you screamed his name. Your release triggered his. He buried himself as deep as possible, a deep groan leaving his lips as he came.
~
Sebastian face was in his hands as the water hit his back. He felt disgusting. On one side, last night was everything he had wished for since he had met you. But he had clearly taken advantage of you. But then, you had kissed him first. Yet, you were still Chris' sister.
He then realized that you wasn't in his bed as he had woken up. Did you regret what happened last night? What if this would be it, your friendship ruined just because he couldn't say no to you? He groaned in frustration, stepping out of the shower to dry himself off. He slipped into some sweatpants when it suddenly knocked on his door. He just sighed; he didn't want to see anyone right now.
As the knocking didn't stop, Sebastian forced himself to open the door. His breathing stopped for a second as he looked right into Chris' face; and he clearly wasn't happy. "Dude, are you fucking serious?" He snapped, pushing Sebastian back to enter the room as well. "What do y-" "Don't play dumb on me, Stan!" Sebastian gulped at his angry tone. "Y/N is my sister! In what way did you think that it would be okay to sleep with my sister?! You can be happy she's on birth control, what if you would've gottten her pregnant?!" Sebastians gaze was fixated on the carpet, not daring to look at Chris. His stare was intense, making Sebastian feel extremely uncomfortable.
"Look, I'm sorry. We were both drunk, we didn't know what we were doing." "Bullshit excuse." Chris scoffed, causing Sebastian to look at him. "You think I didn't notice the way you look at her all the time?" Sebastian gulped. He didn't know anyone had noticed. He ran a hand through his hair, sighing. "I don't know what you want to hear from me apart from that I'm sorry." Chris just rolled his eyes at his friends statement. "Go talk to her." Sebastian stared at him, blinking in confusion. "Seriously?" "I'm not the one who had sex with you and left. So yeah, go on." Sebastian just nodded, leaving the room without another word to walk up to yours.
He knocked, his nerves high as his heart raced. "Chris, I already told you, Im f-" You stopped as you opened the door. Sebastian had a nervous smile on his face as a dark blush covered your cheeks. He chose to ignore the red and purple bruises covering your neck, taking a breath instead. "Can we talk?" You nodded, motioning him to get inside. He stopped in the middle of the room as you closed the door, his hands in the pockets of his pants. He only then noticed that he forgot to put on a shirt, making the whole thing even more awkward.
"Look, I'm sorry about what happened." He started as you sat down on the bed. "We were both drunk and you clearly regret it. I took advantage of you and I know that was selfish. I'm-" "Wait what?" You interrupted him, looking up into his eyes as his brows furrowed. "What?" "You think you took advantage of me?" He just nodded, still confused. "Yeah, I mean- You left this morning without a word and I-I thought you regretted last night. That you didn't really want to have Sex with me." You just chuckled, shaking your head. "I was the one who kissed you first, dumbass." You smiled up at him. "I wanted what happened last night. I just panicked this morning because, you know, you're still one of Chris' best friends. I didn't want it to be awkward." Sebastian just stared at you in disbelief. "You wanted to?" He asked, causing you to chuckle. "Of course i did." Your face fell as he didn't seem happy. "Do you regret it?"
He immediately gathered himself, shaking his head no. "Not a second of it." You smiled in relief, standing up to walk towards him. "Soo, do you like me?" You bit your lip, smiling as you waited for his answer. He nodded. "Since the day I met you." You smiled brightly. "Same here." His hands settled on your hips as you smiled at each other. "Please let it be less messy this time." You added, making him grin. "I promise." Then his lips found yours in a slow, loving kiss. You pulled him closer to you, on of your hands caressing his stubble as you sighed into the kiss.
A knock at your door made you both jump, breaking the kiss. "I don't mean to interrupt." Chris called from the other side of the door. "But the room next to Sebastian complained about loud noises last night. If I'll ever have to hear anything from you two, I'm kicking Sebastians ass." You covered your face while giggling, embarrassed as strangers heard your moaning. Sebastian just laughed. "I'll find a way to keep you quiet." He suggested, winking as your face went red.

Dick Grayson: UnreQUITed
Request: i was wondering if maybe you can make a Reader x Dick Grayson where Reader is in love with Dick but Dick is in love with Barbara ?? thanks!!
A/N: When you attempt Angst for the first time and it’s just ... I tried but I need the practice.
>>>>——————————>
~ Part 1 ~ Part 2 ~ Part 3 ~ Part 4 ~
You wanted to quit.
Oh how you did.
Being in this situation was hopeless, it wrenched your heart from your chest every time he said it.
"I love you.”
Yes, it hurt like a thousand needles piercing your internal organs and he had no idea, which is why he continued to utter those words in your presence.
Your eyes glossed over when Dick Grayson's unmissable voice rang through your ears with those very words. He was your best friend, you loved him but he didn't love you - he loved her.
"Thanks Babs, I love you so much~"
There it is again, and your face fell into your hands with regret.
"Uh, (Y/n) what's wrong?" The handsome man you'd unintentionally fallen for called to you, genuine worry in his tone. Maybe it made the situation worse that he actually cared for you undeniably.
"Blergh, all this lovey dovey stuff is making me sick. Can you two quit it?" You laughed, over the months you'd made it convincing even to your best friend. He had no idea, if he wasn't so wrapped up in Barbara Gordon then he'd see right through it, alas can they quit their relationship too? No. You want him to be happy deep down.
"Yo (Y/n), sorry to drag you away from your little Dickiebird but I want your help!" Jason hollered, tapping his gun on the table you were sitting at rather sadly.
"Shut up Jason." You shoved past him, knocking your shoulder with his as a display of your anger. Dick gave his 'brother' a suspicious look and Jason shrugged but his sympathetic gaze followed you out.
It was on your way to the mission that the Red Hood spoke to you again, this time stating something he'd reluctantly acknowledged long ago.
"You still love him don't you?"
"Pffft love is stupid, who would I love?"
"Don't play dumb with me (Y/n), I know you better than that."
"It doesn't matter anyway, he loves her. And that sucks because she's perfect - I can't hold a candle to her Jay, I'm nothing and she's his sun, moon and stars... I'm...ah..." Tears involuntarily slipped from your lashes as you began a rant you never wanted to delve into and you were wiping them away as quickly as they appeared.
"Hey, don't do that - I've never seen you do that. C'mon (Y/n) I'd choose you over Babs any day." Jason attempted to comfort you, his words were sincere but he could see in your eyes you were head over heels for his brother.
You shook yourself out of it, like taking off a mask and you were once again determined to end this drug ring like putting up a facade. A strong trait that many admired, it even still left Jason in awe as you went in full force.
The mission was going smoothly up until the last cheerful voice you wanted to hear echoed into your earpiece.
"Hi (Y/n) it's Barbara!"
"Great." You scoffed, voice dripping with sarcasm.
"I know you hate being interrupted during a mission and for that I'm sorry but Dick wants to talk to you." She was so polite to you, if anything she considered you a friend and honestly you could never hate her despite your hearts longing desires.
"Alright, tell him to make it quick." You chuckled lightly, a smile automatically appearing as soon as you heard his scuffling and it only widened further once being exposed to his voice.
"Hey gorgeous, you know you're my second favourite person in the universe..." Second, like always, you felt your heart shatter into a million pieces.
"Heh what do you want this time Dickiebird?" Your tone was kind but held an underlying sadness you couldn't quite explain.
"Damian got grounded and will only accept you as a suitable 'sitter' since I'm busy. Would you cover for me tonight?" The eldest sibling pleaded, and you condemned yourself for never being able to refuse him.
It's like your mind went blank as soon as he'd ask anything of you and you'd agree on instinct, you’d die for that man if he so much as needed it and it killed you to think like that.
"Of course, anything for you."
"Thank you (Y/n), and thanks for calling them babe now we should get ready." As soon as you'd heard that you ripped your earpiece out and squeezed your eyes closed to prevent further tears from falling. You had a mission, screw your heart.
By the time you were reunited with your partner in crime, you had been gifted with an idea.
"You were a little ruthless, are you-"
"Please let me join the Outlaws!"
"Woah woah, what are you talking about?"
"I quit Red! I can't do this anymore, I can't be around him and since you travel around the world as mercenaries I want to go with you. I want to disappear because it hurts every time I see them! Please, I need to go!" You were broken and any sane person could tell, your voice didn't hold its usual charisma and kindness, it sounded hopeless and lost.
All because of unrequited love.
Now Jason would love for you to join the Outlaws, to travel with you wherever he went; to have you by his side unconditionally - but he knew Dick would never forgive for him for it. Dick needed you around and for Jason to sweep you away like he wanted to would kill his older sibling, you two had an unbreakable bond but it was unknowingly tearing you apart.
"I can't do that, you belong here idiot. Nightwing, Gotham, and all your friends are here too." Jason nudged your shoulder but as soon as you heard his decline that was all you focused on.
That night you didn't travel back with Red Hood, you made your own way home and when questioned on your whereabouts Jason could only shrug since comm link was down. By the time you'd returned to your apartment you began packing.
Only necessities were included. Midway through your exploit, your phone viciously vibrated again and guess who it was? Dick Grayson, calling you for what seemed to be the hundredth time since you left Jason - you didn't answer.
You couldn't answer in fear of breaking down and telling him exactly what you were doing and if you did that, no doubt he'd sabotage your plans with his shining crystalline irises and hopeful smile that controlled your very willpower. You wanted to cry but instead threw your phone over to the couch in irritation and to get it as far away from you as possible to ensure you didn't pick up.
In the next instance, you had a vigilante busting through your bedroom window and you swore if it was Jason you were going to murder him. Instinctively you accumulated one of the many weapons at your disposal and aimed at the intruder with a glare.
"Why didn't you answer?!" Was all that left his mouth and you'd recognise the vibrant sapphire V anywhere. Nightwing had dropped by.
"I didn't feel like talking Dick."
"Ouch, what's up? Are you alright, let me help I'll-" He was caring, as he always was, he was at your beckoned call if you ever needed anything. But you weren't as high on his priority list as Barbara was.
"I'm fine. Just startled, like you are when someone barges into your room." You cut him short almost too quickly, monotonous with a tinge of anger present.
"Right... Oh are you going somewhere?" The hero removed his mask, inspecting the bag you were currently filling with clothes rather curiously. He reminded you of a cute puppy wondering where their owner was going.
"Yeah, I'm taking a weekend mission away from Gotham. The city crime is tiring y'know." You responded with a smile.
Dick nodded in acknowledgement, getting up to get goodness knows what.
"Here, you better take this then. For good luck!" The male practically sang, handing you an old forgotten photo of you both.
You were smiling, this was back when you first ran into him. He had an arm around your waist to pull you into him in order to take a selfie with a Polaroid camera.
You kept it, the squiggles on the back displaying 'To my one and only. ~ Love your Best Friend.'
It was before he and Barbara starting dating and honestly they were probably the best times of your life.
In fact you're pretty sure you still had that camera stashed away and soon found it in the depths of your cupboard. Dick came over to investigate but could only smirk at your actions.
You held the camera out in front of you, angling it so that it included both of you.
"Smile pretty boy, for old times sake." You smirked, Dick complied, cheesiest grin plastered on his face almost mockingly playful.
Soon after a flash, it printed out the Polaroid and you shook it before viewing.
"Hm, I like that one." The ravenette chuckled, yourself nodding agreement.
Dick quickly returned to his Nightwing alias, replacing his mask and heading for the window frame. Before he could leave, your arms tightly encircled his torso from behind, thankfully shielding your watery eyes from his view.
"Thank for everything, I love you so much Dick Grayson and I want you to remember that." You muttered sorrowfully.
You felt your friend sigh, one hand interlocking with one of yours that wrap around his abdomen.
"I love you too (Y/n), you better not forget that either now I gotta go save the city." He was cheerful and upbeat and for a second you forgot about the circumstances because he loved you. For once it wasn't her.
After your so called hero left on patrol, you zipped up your bag and were yet again interrupted by Damian - or Robin.
"You're leaving aren't you?" It was a statement rather than a question, one that lead you to believe Damian was around longer than a few seconds and probably heard most of your conversation with his elder brother.
"Aren't you supposed to be grounded? I was literally on my way to the Manor."
"...I'll keep your secret if you keep mine (L/n)." You offered a sympathetic smile at the boys words, Damian radiated unease - he didn't want you to go.
"Deal. Now get over here!" You beckoned him in and allowed him to embrace you into a tight hug, one that was the equivalent of a silent but meaningful goodbye to him.
"Please stay, I can help you avoid them."
"That's impossible and you know it. I couldn't avoid Grayson if I'm here and besides he has someone better. Barbara is a hero, she's good and I'm an ex assassin - she's everything I'm not. Dick needed to save me, and she was all he wanted from the start." You mournfully explained.
"You're the best assassin I know, Gordon has got nothing on you. Trust me, I wish Grayson had seen that. Gordon is brilliant... but I'd want you as my sibling in law." Damian nonchalantly commented, like it meant nothing at all.
You nodded in acceptance, Damian heading for the exit and disappearing into the night after waving goodbye for good.
~~~
A month had passed and Dick Grayson was pacing the Batcave pulsating with discomfort.
"Where is (Y/n)?! They should be back by now!"
New number and no contact, you knew exactly how to erase your tracks. They were never finding you, you couldn't let that happen. You quit.
"Don't you get it Dick?! They're gone - (Y/n) isn't coming back. They're untraceable, off the radar I can't even track them down. I should've said yes. Damnit!" Jason responded, running a hand through his hair out of stress.
"That's ridiculous, they wouldn't do that to me. There's no reason to." Denial.
"It was because they love you!" Damian hissed from the stairway, fed up with his brother being so oblivious, he was glaring with strong rage emitting from his smaller stature.
"What?"
"(Y/N) WAS IN LOVE WITH YOU!"
Dick froze and before anyone could stop him, he'd raced to your apartment in record time but with no response from knocking, decided to break in. However, his hopes were relentlessly stripped away with his discovery, a camera and polaroid lay on your coffee table - all other traces of you long gone.
It was the one from the last time he saw you, in your apartment packing a bag for a “weekend mission”. Those were you exact words, and god he missed your voice, he missed everything. Carefully he picked it up, flipping the image to find your signature font.
'To my one and only, forgive me for never saying Goodbye but it hurt too much to do so. I love you remember. ~ Your Best Friend.'
