i’ll be honest guys, Dan Wilds has never been my favorite of favorites (perhaps it has a lot to do with her name… I’d really, really rather call her Danielle… or maybe it’s the cursed image of Kristen Bell… (was that a fever dream??) perhaps it has more to do with how she treated Kevin in the end… who cares) but MY GOD what a WOMAN.
she was a STRIPPER. do you know how good of a mental she had to have to keep her cool, keep her head clear, above water? she was a TEEN. she worked so hard. but by god did she work it.
i wanna talk to her “sisters” i wanna know everything about them and how they adopted her and cared for her in the hardest of times and made her the captain that she is in TFC-TKM. i wanna take young Danielle into my arms and protect her with my life and give her everything. she’s so strong. she deserves such softness. i wanna kiss Wymack for taking her away and giving her the Foxes.
i wanna know when she cries. i wanna know her nightmares. i wanna know how it started with Matt. i wanna know if she kept some of her stage heels. i wanna if she ever misses her cousins. i wanna know who was her first kiss and was it one of her “sisters”. i wanna know which Fox she sees herself in the most.
the women of the Foxes have such a wide array of strengths and i feel like Danielle is too often overlooked in favor of Renee and Allison. she’s not just the captain. she has extreme resilience; she’s confident in her body through everything; she is a born leader, fair but head held high and hardly swayed.
i wish we had more moments on the court to show her skills, the way we had show-stopping scenes for Andrew, Matt and Kevin.
i wish Andrew respected her more, i wish he could see the Hennessey in her and at least get where she comes from, that they are not as opposite and far apart on the spectrum as he might think.
i wish Kevin consulted her more, i wish he sought more of her wisdom and advice, that he went to her more as equals relying on one another. i wish he had her back more.
i wouldn’t change the characters for anything in the world. everything is the way it is for a reason. the Foxes are Foxes for a reason, a ragtag team challenged game after game, season after season, in peril of being disbanded, both internally and outwardly. Danielle being the outstanding woman and captain that she is ain’t enough to patch up their many shortcomings. they’re just wishes. fantasies.
anyhoo. Danielle Wilds. *cries*

bc of heartstopper now i cant stop thinking abt an all for the game adaptation like rly ive just been Thinking Things
it would be really cool if it worked a bit like arcane in which every episode shows a flashback of a character and i think it would work beautifully to show more of the foxes path before actually becoming a fox, and give them a lot more depth.
we see dan struggling to make ends meet and start working as Hennessey, renee doing jobs for gangs and getting caught by the police or maybe meeting stephanie, matt fighting to beat his addiction, allison being disowned by her parents and figuring out her own path, nicky living in germany and meeting erik, aaron living with tilda and finding out about andrew, kevins childhood in the nest??? maybe even something for seth.
and all the flashbacks end with wymack coming to recruit them for PSU just like we see the books starting with neil

Art21 proudly presents an artist segment, featuring Theaster Gates, from the "Chicago" episode in the ninth season of the "Art in the Twenty-First Century" series.
"Chicago " premiered in September 2016 on PBS. Watch now on PBS and the PBS Video app: https://www.pbs.org/video/art-21-chic...
Theaster Gates first encountered creativity in the music of Black churches on his journey to becoming an urban planner, potter, and artist. Gates creates sculptures out of clay, tar, and renovated buildings, transforming the raw material of the South Side into radically reimagined vessels of opportunity for the community.
Establishing a virtuous circle between fine art and social progress, Gates strips dilapidated buildings of their components, transforming those elements into sculptures that act as bonds or investments, the proceeds of which are used to finance the rehabilitation of entire city blocks. Many of the artist’s works evoke his African-American identity and the broader struggle for civil rights, from sculptures incorporating fire hoses, to events organized around soul food, and choral performances by the experimental musical ensemble Black Monks of Mississippi, led by Gates himself.

Boak Bollocks Witch Pelosi’s Taiwan Visit Is On

Speaker NANCY PELOSI is scheduled to travel to Taiwan this week, a congressional official and a Taiwanese official familiar with the itinerary told ANDREW DESIDERIO and your host, with the current expectation that she will land in Taipei on Tuesday. The visit would make her the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit the self-governing island in decades.
Pelosi’s travel plans, which remain officially unconfirmed, have been the subject of bellicose rhetoric from China over the past few weeks — including suggestions that her plane could be shot down.
There’s clear disagreement within the government about what the U.S. thinks China might do in response to the visit. The congressional official said U.S. officials concluded that China’s belligerent threats against the speaker are simply an intimidation tactic.
But National Security Council spokesperson JOHN KIRBY said in a Monday news conference that China “appears to be positioning itself to potentially take further steps in the coming days,” which could include firing missiles into the Taiwan Strait, a large-scale entry into Taiwan’s air-defense identification zone, a bigger military exercise, or more.
A senior U.S. defense official told reporters on Friday that there have been no significant redeployments of American military assets in the region in response to Chinese rhetoric surrounding the speaker’s trip, but several warships are already in the South China and East China Seas.
President JOE BIDEN’s national security and military advisers had cautioned Pelosi against the visit, POLITICO previously reported, given the heightened tensions between Washington and Beijing. In a phone call last week, Chinese President XI JINPING warned Biden that, when it comes to Taiwan, “those who play with fire will eventually get burned.”
Beijing views Taiwan as an inseparable part of China and has strongly contested what it views as U.S. interference in domestic affairs. Meanwhile, in Washington, fears have grown in recent months that Xi plans to invade the island.
The U.S. has maintained its so-called “One China” policy and does not have formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan, but has affirmed Taipei’s right to self-defense and has sent billions of dollars worth of weapons to boost its arsenal. Biden, however, has on three occasions said the U.S. would come to Taiwan’s defense in case of an invasion attempt by China — seemingly clarifying the ambiguity — but he and his officials continue to insist there has been no change in America’s Taiwan policy.
Pelosi was in Singapore on Monday as part of a four-country swing through Asia. She is also scheduled to visit Malaysia, South Korea and Japan during the trip. House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair GREGORY MEEKS (D-N.Y.) and Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chair MARK TAKANO (D-Calif.) are among the lawmakers accompanying Pelosi.
Pelosi has been among the most consistent China hawks over the last three decades, even taking on her own party when it comes to the threat Beijing poses to U.S. security and economic interests. She has championed human-rights concerns in China, including the genocide of Uyghur Muslims and the crackdown of pro-democracy protesters in Tiananmen Square in 1989.
American and Taiwanese figures have grown bolder about showing their support for the relationship, rankling China in the process. BI-KHIM HSIAO, the democratic island’s de facto representative to the U.S., attended Biden’s inauguration. Four months later, U.S. Ambassador to Palau JOHN HENNESSEY-NILAND became the first sitting American envoy to travel to Taiwan since Washington cut formal ties to Taipei in 1979.

My cat Hennessey, who usually shares the couch with us during TV time, but instead of napping like he usually does, has been watching attentively:
