Being reminded of how norn and asura got shafted out of dealing with their respective dragons in IBS still kills me. Braham being the only norn to do anything dragon related getting PRIMORDUS and charr getting JORMAG just.

Norn and asura basically don't exist in IBS by the end and to this day it still boils me up a bit.

i understand stuff like 3d model and performance and design constraints but can you imagine how sheerly baller this game would look if everything looked like the carlyn lim concept art for it

those are, in order: forged, the exalted, branded, and mordremoth

btw-- for those unaware, carlyn lim's concept art has had EXTENSIVE influence on the game's aesthetic. there's numerous artists that work together to create the final designs of course, but lim solidified or came up with the initial concepts for a lot of things that end up being some of the best looking things ingame. for example, lim is responsible for a lot of the art direction of the pof mounts, forged, branded, mordrem, they did a lot of concepts for vinetooth faolain (which i suggest looking up because they're so much cooler than what we got), the pof version of joko and his awakened including the initial concept for awakened abominations, balthazar's wartank, the exalted, and then a NUMBER of armor sets including the carapace armor, ceremonial plated outfit, the warbeast armor, the crystal savant outfit, and the sunspear/spearmarshal armor. they also elaborated on some of matthew barret's building concepts for gw1's utopia, which anet then seemingly had carlyn lim elaborate upon for gw2 to create the aesthetic the asura have now!

they seem to have not done any concepts for gw2 since 2019 (at least none that aren't under heavy NDA right now maybe). i really hope anet considers hiring them again for future projects because wow

Still sad the corset isn't laced up in the front :( (I have an extreme bias. I LOVE THE CRISS-CROSS). I just feel weird being completely uninterested in this, considering this is literally the kind of thing I always go feral for bc I'm a ho for this type of fashion. (You should see my fancy gothic lace parasol and mini hat!!! I have a top too!!!), and I'm also sad they don't let the Fem version free the tiddy. Sylvari got no nip nops anyways!!!! Let them be free (and free the ones with nip nops too!!!).

i want the Fashion War joke thing in LA to like ... be an actual new Guild Hall decoration. Like, you could make your own stage and the “zone” has a button to interact with for someone to start it or something (so it doesnt just Constantly go on in the background in the hall)

so i completed the main arborstone masteries while i was out doing various activities in cantha. i didn't go back into arborstone each time to look at the changes, but i've been going back there more since i'm doing a couple of the collections in there

and i discovered A WHOLE LIBRARY?? IT'S BEAUTIFUL THERE'S EVEN PERSONAL STORY NPCS THERE IT JUST MAKES ME GO ;-; our progression through the story and how we've come to this point so far. i mean, we're in freaking cantha right now and to see these core-tyria npcs here just brings back memories of simpler times when the commander was just a simple traveler helping out people in need

#i found magister ela makkay- who i was most excited about seeing since my commander is a priory magister #and there was a sylvari warmaster which i think was in the vigil order story if you were a sylvari & chose vigil. i played it before #but it's been awhile so i wasn't sure but she had a unique name #and then i saw batanga. an asura you meet in the order storyline too if you play an asura & chose the whispers #i love arborstone SO MUCH #all of the little details that anet added in and how it grew over time as we stayed & explored cantha #im just ;-; #and so excited discovering all of these things and new dialogue i've never heard there #also the collections are SO FUN AND COOL #i just started the turtle one finally- it's so precious #and also working on 3? others i believe #allisons rambles #gw2

The ending of EoD was really good. The final boss fight was adequately epic and let me smack things around.

I wouldn’t say it was my favorite expac. A very solid addition but there was a lot of stuff that just wasn’t done well enough to set a Mood imo. It played everything safe. Solid, but safe.

sorry not to just kind of like crazy arkkpost again but thinking loosely about the notion of how, with greeza and chibb being dessa's former krewemates who went on to join the inquest, arkk could have feasibly encountered them later on (probably prior to thaumanova/when he was ~teenagery in age, although i guess there's a small % chance they somehow survived thaumanova which is its own whole fun drama can of worms). thinking about a slightly short, very bedraggled looking arkk being like (shaking them by the shoulders) Where Is My Mom. and then the Drama when thaumanova happens not too long after and takes them with it and thus some of his only connections/leads back to his mom with it. [rubbing hands like a fly, evilly] yessss

#some slight elaboration on some of my deranged ramblings: #arkk #my stuff #i consider arkk to be in his early 30s #or mid thirties idk he's around there though #theres a 20yr span between sylvari appearing and thaumanova happening #(and we know dessa entered the mists prior to sylvari being a Thing) #there's an additional 5yr span between thaumanova and when chaos fractal happens canonically #so that's marking dessa have been in the mists for 25! whole years as of chaos #u can generally assume she didnt like .... give birth and immediately split #so (noncommittal hand wiggle) i assume arkk was something like 6-10 when she entered the mists #this is also maybe foolishly assuming she enters the mists like right before sylvari appear #it could have been longer lawl #but thats my personal headcanon math anyway idk. thanks. #anet will never ever fill in these details and i kind of dont expect them to so it falls to ME!!! to do the math

i never play charr's story. i have charr, but didnt play the story (cause i headcanon him as olmakhan) so idk much about smodur. but i remember he has wise-er vibe to him, and kinda on the 'not aggressive' side of a charr-kind. at least in this instance, he was not the abrassive type. i even think rytlock is a bit more of an asshole (affectionate) compared to him at this (that) moment. imagine my surprise when i meet him again in IBS lol
