Pairing: Chris Evans x Black Reader
Words: ~1.2k
Warnings: age gap, slow burn romance, I think 18+ in later chapters but for now it’s just storytelling, somewhat dark, mentions/implied death, blood
A/N: hi, this is my next writing fic, I have finally written about 3 chapters and the only inspiration im getting is from Hozier songs like cherry wine, as it was, and also sunlight. I have written some more chapters on my other fic but I feel it needs to be reworked also hopefully you read this and like it. *if you wanna be added to/removed from my taglist ask me and I’ll add/remove you with no worries at all*
He walked down the stairway on unsteady stones, the only source of light coming from the candle in the chamber stick he held. Walking down the path in the deepest part of the kingdom, finally reaching the bottom was greeted by a cell at the end of the dark hall within it a creature he came to greet.
All there was is all four walls coming together deep down within the earth, leaks coming from above smelling of soil and rain as the storm finished before he decided to come down to the creature's cell.
Slowly, padding toward its cell door to see the visitor who wished to talk to them. As the candle came closer so did its features become shown. Eyes as dark and big as the star-encased sky, make you believe that they couldn’t see a thing but could see all at the same time. Hands similar to a human's with the exception of their sharp black nails, and black encasing the tips of each finger. Teeth sharp and a few longer than others. Hair mangled as it’s been unkempt, cheeks sunken, and clothes barely hanging on to its body looking on the brink of death but being in its cell for over two centuries. No one visits as everyone says ‘it’s an accursed thing’, whenever they have to explain to their children why to never go down into the basement.
But, him. He chooses to ignore what his father says to see what it looked like one late night several years ago. Ever since he visits whenever there’s a full moon for a couple of days to see such a wondrous creature. As it's not as accursed as his father makes them out to be.
Tonight should’ve been like every other night, with the difference of him smiling, and reaching out his hand to me but with blood slowly drying on his hand, shirt, and pants. It was a sight to behold as he spoke, “I’ve come to finally free you, beloved,” with blood splattered across his face. His eyes showed me love but his outward appearance showed me something darker.
“What did you do?” was all I could slowly choke out, as my mouth and throat were parched.
“I’m sorry where are my manners,” speaking to me once again, taking his hand that was reached out and moving back.
“Saving you from this lonely hell my family has given you,” he began again as he steadied his sword ready to swing at the lock and chains holding my cell together, “you deserve so much more than this. So, I took my rightful place from your current captors so I can finally free you.”
Charging up his sword with a very clear and strong spell as his sword flew a bright red and then he swung. Swiftly breaking what once was my lock, now shards on the ground. Quickly opening the door, stepping over the shards, and bringing himself to one knee.
“May I finally greet you properly as mine? And do not worry I will carry you so as to not hurt you anymore from this point on,” he told me as he looked up at me.
Slowly giving my hand out to him and beginning to speak I reply, “you may, but be gentle with me, please. What is your name?”
“Christopher Evans, but just for you you can call me Chris my beloved,” I was told as he kissed the back of my hand, “and yours?”
“(Y/f/n), (Y/f/n) (y/l/n) is my name, it’s been so long since anyone’s asked me for my name,” it was like a shout but only fell upon his ears, if others would were here no one hear as it wouldn’t echo throughout and before I knew it I was whisked up into his arms, spun around, and held as gentle but tight as he could hold me without taking my breath away.
Now bound to him as if I made a contract, now without a word or a doubt. Then starting the slow ascension to the outside from this underground purgatory.
——————————————————————
Before we knew it, there we were at the door. He set me down and gave me a look as if I should be the one to open the door to my freedom. Opening that door made me feel the heaviness that I had been carrying lifted off my shoulders.
All I could see before was the darkness, feeling the bricks as I scraped another line down the brick indicating a day. From what I could tell, all I ever did was count, recount my happiest memories, my worst moments, and whatever I could entertain myself with. Well until Chris, then I was counting the days, minutes, and hours until he returned. Now I never need to do that again.
As I stood at the doorway, holding my hand within my own slowly walking out. I could see within these elegant walls, and took a turn to my left another door. With windows showcasing the sunlight through the windows and its curtains flowing through slowly. Walking towards it, I took a look back at Chris and he nodded. Turning back to the door I opened it and took in the open garden in what could be the middle of the whole castle.
I took in the sun as it began to rise, its sunlight swimming with the clouds bringing out colors I hadn’t seen in so long made me tear up. Feeling the sun as it rose and shone on my skin after so long felt bittersweet in a way.
Just as I began walking into the garden, a maid took a turn before taking in my form startled by what she was witnessing. As she was thinking about running to get one of the guards, sees Chris walk from behind me and realizes what happened.
She took in his form from the now-dried blood, and you could see the multiple things she questioned and the conclusions she was coming up with.
“If you are going to tell a guard or anyone else about my beloved, do tell them that I let her out and I plan to take her as my queen,” he thundered to her. Feeling chills run up my spine as he then took in my form.
“I’m gonna need to get you new clothes, and get food in you as you’re just so small,” Chris insisted to me as he turned me toward him, taking my hands into his.
“Then I’m gonna need to find out how such a small thing as yourself is so dangerous,” he chuckled to himself. Picking me up once more, he began walking into the castle and up the staircase to the third floor. Walking on towards the end of the hallway.
Opening the door to a room half as big as the garden downstairs.
“This is where you’ll be staying, and don’t worry I’ll notify everyone that you are so you won’t have any problems, my love,” he assured me, bending down to one knee. “Now I won’t be gone long but until then I'll have one of my best guards’ outside until I am. And I’ll send in a maid to help you out as well.”
All I could do was nod until he left me in this room to my own devices.

CALIFORNIA POLICE OFFICER IN SPOTLIGHT FOR BODY SLAMMING LADY OUTSIDE GROCERY STORE
A police officer’s violent actions in southern California are being investigated after video footage showed the white cop brutalizing an unarmed Black woman for the apparent offense of recording officers detaining her husband.
The video footage recorded by a witness began by showing the woman holding a cell phone and filming officers handcuffing her husband, who can be heard repeatedly asking “why” he was being detained outside the supermarket in Lancaster.
After two officers struggled to handcuff the husband, one walked directly to the wife. When the camera follows the officer, he’s shown grabbing the wife by the back of her neck before violently flinging her to the ground.
The person recording can be heard yelling for the cop to “get off of her” and not to hit her to no avail.
The cop is next shown kneeling on the wife’s neck, evoking horrific imagery from Derek Chavin’s police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
As with the woman’s husband, the officer struggled to place her in handcuffs even though she wasn’t resisting.
Her husband can be heard in the background pleading for the officer to stop. He also said she has cancer. Neither claim prevented the officer from accosting the woman standing at least 20 feet away from the officers when they were handcuffing her husband.

i think i’ve learned a lot when it comes to not applying my own values to the media i consume
for my script analysis class yesterday, we discussed two gentleman from verona, and nearly every classmate of mine was up in arms about how sexist the story is.
and i'm not saying it's not, or that it's not infuriating to read. but i'm also not putting my energy into getting upset about something written 500 or so years ago. and i'm not about to put my own beliefs onto these characters that are not me. i'm going to let their choices speak for themselves, and interpret it in the context of the story.
all that said, this now brings me to the point of alastor in episode 5, and how viscerally people are responding to it. those of you up in arms about the choices he’s making, and the violent threat he gave husk, you’re missing the entire point of his character, of this place they’re in, of the story being told. he’s an overlord, and he became an overlord by killing much bigger overlords and broadcasting their deaths over the radio.
HE IS NOT A GOOD PERSON.
if you started this show with the belief that every character working the hotel is a good person, you’re in the wrong place. watch the good place if you’re looking for a good wholesome story about getting dead sinners into heaven, because that’s not what this show is about.
you’re more than welcome to hate him after seeing the way he exerted power over a being whose soul he owns, but you’re doing the media you’re watching a disservice by writing it off so quickly. if you don’t like to be uncomfortable watching media, watch something else. this is an uncomfortable show, it handles uncomfortable topics, and it’s going to be an uncomfortable ride, and if you’re not up for something like that, then you should take a break from it and pick up something else. you don’t have to get online and defend your own ideals while you watch a show that goes against your ideals.
#hazbin hotel spoilers#that’s not even touching on the fact that husk was an overlord too#he also owned souls that he used as currency to supply his gambling addiction#he’s also not a good person!!#the majority of these characters are in hell for a reason: they’re not good people#i quite frankly love the way this show blurs the lines between good and evil#our heroes are sinners and overlords and demons. while the enemies are angels. but that doesn’t mean our heroes are good people.#you HAAAVE to come to terms with that!! you have to stop seeing the world in black and white or you’re not going to survive this world#if you’re upset because alastor was cruel to husk fine! be upset! but explore why you’re taking yourself out of that world.#in this world sinners own other people. there’s no ifs ands or buts#‘oh alastor is a poc why would he own people’ he was a serial killer when he was alive do you really think you can apply your values to that#(and this is me speaking as a poc. specifically a mixed race poc.)#i cannot speak to who vivzie is as a person. but i’m interested in the message she’s writing and thus far i’m finding it compelling#it’s a similar story as the good place but it’s going the distance to explore even worse people than those in the good place#i don’t think it’s responsible to write something off just because unsavory things happen in it.#and she’s giving us so many different types of representation that don’t involve race (although we’re also getting a lot of hispanic rep)#just like cool your jets and maybe process some of the anger you’re feeling. and maybe nothing will change.#but if you act. instead of react. if you understand why you’re feeling some type of way and then make a choice.#that’s so much stronger and more responsible than reacting and not thinking anything through#hazbin hotel#alastor#husk#hazbin alastor#hazbin husk#anyway let me get off my soapbox#long post

There is something so good about Akutagawa--a very much feared, boogeyman like figure (even amongst his own men) in Yokohama because of his violence, bloodlust, and steadfast loyalty to a violent criminal organization such as the Port Mafia--given biblical angel symbolism
I don't know, something something about someone whose beauty is so incomprehensible and terrifying to most. He's not physically ugly, he's not--he's beautiful, the type of beautiful that almost feel as if he's not a real person, like he's a mirage, or a painting. But he's beautiful not like those renaissance cherubs and lovely looking maidens for angels, but more like the biblical angels with their beauty beyond mortal grasp, the beauty that brings fear and revulsion towards whoever sees them because they cannot comprehend it. Coming across him makes you understand why angels say, "Be not afraid" when they reveal themselves to mortals. An incomprehensible beauty that very few can keep looking at. A dangerous feat, literally and metaphorically.
(This isn't only with his physical appearance either--for someone who is constantly beaten down both by canon and by the fandom for being "simple", he is a terrifying bundle of different aspects that contradict each other. Like a super machine you open up and you see the intricate criss crossing of wires and bolts that hold it together. He's a mess of nerves and feelings and experiences so profound, so horrific, that you don't know where to start with him. To uncoil him and see him truly bare is almost impossible. Where does he end and the roots that connect him to the earth begin?)
Something about Akutagawa being an angel, a being created entirely to follow the will of "God", obey their every word. Unwavering loyalty to their master while singing praise. Acting entirely on the order of their master--wing always dipped in blood for his sake. A weapon of "heaven' that brings destruction to those who oppose "God" and be one of the many upon which "God" rests upon.
(Almost everything Akutagawa does is for the sake of the Port Mafia, taking orders from the "master" (boss) himself. Willingness and obedience and loyalty repeatedly exploited and used, everything he has done as one of the high ranking leaders handling most of the Mafia's dirty work playing a part so Mori's throne stays high.)
Something about comparing Akutagawa to a certain archangel, finding repulsion in "God"'s cherished creation, the inferiority that came with being "less" to "mankind", and the painful fall from grace to the deepest pits of despair when he confronts the being that created him, molded him, and then condemn him. And to his humiliation, mankind, for centuries, condemns him too.
(He can't be compared to Lucifer, God's most beloved angel. Maybe Dazai did value him, but it doesn't matter, does it? because the difference between the two is that one was cherished and one never was. However, you can compare the rage and humiliation Akutagawa felt towards Atsushi--for obtaining Dazai's approval and affection with no effort, no proper control over his skill or any seemingly differentiating quality-- to Lucifer's refusal to bow down to humanity--a creation inherently imperfect and lackluster, with not the qualities of angels. And as a result? Disgraced. Both by the creator and by ones that held their creator's favor. )
Something about Akutagawa being an angel--someone whose presence means nothing pleasant to those he appears before. A reaper of sorts, responsible for taking life and for souls to see the afterlife (killing both as an order and an act of mercy, for he despises torture and meaningless suffering). A guardian angel watching over "mankind" from afar, where he is not aware and saving him from certain death at his own expense.
There's just something so appealing about depicting Akutagawa--a fearsome, ruthless, and bloodthirsty mafioso, a boogeyman to his own men--as an angel, be it of death, of mercy, a destroying angel-- whatever anyone wants to see him as and use him for.

A Black couple have sued the city of Beverly Hills, alleging their arrest was part of a campaign by its police to arrest Black people for trivial reasons and at disproportionate rates.
The couple’s lawyers, Bradley Gage and Benjamin Crump, said the Beverly Hills police last year set up a task force — dubbed Operation Safe Streets and the Rodeo Drive Task Force — that arrested 106 people, 105 of whom were Black and one of whom was Latino. Gage said the sources of the arrest figures were unidentified retired Beverly Hills police officers who were appalled by the task force’s actions and so shared with him the alleged racial breakdown of who had been arrested.
The impetus for the task force, Gage said, was both the protests over the death of George Floyd and what Beverly Hills police believed were transactions at retail stores using suspected proceeds of unemployment benefit fraud. Gage described the Police Department’s approach to rooting out suspected fraud as, “Gee, that’s suspicious — Black people shopping in Beverly Hills.”
Gage and Crump, who has represented the families of Floyd, Breonna Taylor and others killed by police, raised their allegations Wednesday on the steps of Beverly Hills City Hall. “There is something terribly wrong here,” Gage said, citing what he called the city’s legacy of biased policing.
Gage and Crump are seeking class-action status for their lawsuit, which was filed Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The only named plaintiffs are the couple, who were arrested on suspicion of riding scooters on a sidewalk and resisting arrest; it does not appear that Gage or Crump has identified the 104 other people who they contend were arrested.
In a statement, Police Chief Dominick Rivetti said his department created a “Rodeo Drive Team” in response to complaints by businesses and a rise in burglaries, shoplifting, “street gambling, public intoxication, marijuana smoking and more.” The team seized 13 firearms carried by people on Rodeo Drive, said Rivetti, who called this “unprecedented in the history of Beverly Hills.”
Rivetti said the Rodeo Drive unit rooted out fraudulently obtained state unemployment benefits, seizing $250,000 in cash and ill-gotten debit cards. Most of the people arrested by the unit were not California residents, Rivetti said, but they nonetheless possessed debit cards loaded with state funds.
The Times asked the Beverly Hills police for a total number and breakdown by race of the people arrested by the Rodeo Drive unit. Capt. Max Subin, a department spokesman, said officials were gathering the figures Wednesday and would provide them once they had finished.
Gage and Crump on Wednesday highlighted the experience of the Black couple, Khalil White and Jasmine Williams of Philadelphia, who said they were visiting Beverly Hills on vacation in September when they were stopped, arrested and eventually jailed by police.
As five officers handcuffed White, Williams said, she asked an officer for her purse to retrieve their hotel key. Two officers pushed her to a police car, handcuffed her and took her to jail, she said.
“I was scared,” Williams said. “I’ve never been to jail in my life.”
White, who said he was jailed overnight and forced to post a $25,000 bond, was charged in Los Angeles County Superior Court with resisting arrest and falsely identifying himself to police. Williams was charged with falsely identifying herself to police. The charges were dismissed in February, records show.
Crump and Gage alleged that White and Williams’ arrests were part of a campaign to target Black people in the city through its recently formed task force.
The Beverly Hills police “had made up their mind that this Black man was going to jail because this is Operation Safe Streets,” Crump said.
In his statement, Rivetti said police had warned White and Williams earlier the day of their arrest that it was illegal to ride a scooter on the sidewalk, without taking action against the couple. In their second encounter with police, White and Williams provided officers with false information, Rivetti said.
“Our department’s practice is to contact and question individuals when we believe they may be involved in criminal activity or another violation of the law,” he said.
Beverly Hills officials faced criticism last summer for insisting on charging protesters with misdemeanor curfew violations; by comparison, prosecutors for the city and county of Los Angeles declined to charge similarly minor violations of curfews and dispersal orders.
In a summary of the Beverly Hills protests, a police sergeant wrote that for residents who survived the Holocaust and Iranian revolution, the demonstrations over Floyd’s death were “not merely an intrusion of their peace” but “a terrifying reminder of their past.”
The department’s previous chief, Sandra Spagnoli, retired in 2020, beset by allegations that she made racist comments and had sex with subordinates who were later promoted. Spagnoli denied the claims, which she said were raised by disgruntled employees, but the city paid out millions of dollars to settle many of the lawsuits. Gage, who represented several officers who sued Spagnoli, estimated at the time that the city paid about $8 million in settlements, attorney fees and other costs.

Here's a thought:
Sirius has been getting so much shit for the Prank and putting Snape's life in danger, but in The Prince's Tale, when Lily is griping about Snape's friends, and with the Prank still fresh, Snape has a perfect window to badmouth Sirius - arguably, the latter trying to kill him should be even worse than Avery and Mulciber's dark magic.
And yet Snape does not even mention Sirius. All he complains about is James Potter, his sneaking around with Remus and his fancying Lily.
Do you think that maybe, the supposedly hideous Prank wasn't such a big deal after all? Just some information that Snape stupidly decided to put to the test?
Do you think that maybe Snape knows he was the one that fucked up, which is why he doesn't try to put the blame on Sirius?
Do you think that maybe he was never in much danger, which is why James supposedly saving him is all the more annoying to him - because it gives James a chance to boast about being a heroic saviour when maybe all he did was just pull Snape back from the immobilized tree?
Do you think that maybe he later plays it up for pity points, in front of Harry who has not the slightest idea of what had really happened, knowing that Remus is guilt-prone and Sirius has a reputation as an unhinged murderer?
Not saying that Sirius had any sort of innocent intention, but I'm inclined to think it was more like "why should I care to protect him? He's a big boy and he thinks he's smart; if he wants to see what's going on, let him have it" rather than a nefarious plan to actually get him killed or bitten.
