Also speaking of post-Altissia in my quest to bring Luna back to main game, I fully believe she would have backed Gladio up on the train and I’ll fight to uphold that stance until someone shoots me down from here

Legit some of the best characterizations I've seen are when a character is basically a human (or half-human) shaped cat.
Cloud, Sephiroth, and Genesis
Ardyn and Noctis
The Sparda Boys
The Elric Brothers
Most of the cast of Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Sasuke... when he's not being a total cunt
I'm sure there are plenty of others floating around in my head but DMC and FFs VII and XV have eaten my brain recently so these are the examples that have managed to stay stuck in my head.
Honorable Mention goes to Toothless, who while not human, is definitely cat-coded.

ann and gladio for the character meme? :D
I already did ann! So i will use this opportunity to scream about Gladio my beloved
Tumblr media
Ffxv is a blessing and a curse bc it gives u Guys and DIFFERENT kinds of Guys and then does not let u do anything w these guys :( theres so many little details they add in the game for these guys during combat, even the animations they have for certain things like reviving each other or eating together is sooooooo good. It literally has me craving more but theres not ENOUGH!!!!
Gladio has so many little things about him….hes a bit of a soft and old soul, hes dedicated to his work and that comes above all else. It just so happens his Work is protecting Noct and co so like, hes very VERY protective of them. Hes rough w the way he teaches and its not without reason; the game very quickly shows whats at stake outside of the safety of Insomnia. Hes stern in a way that doesnt come off as belittling or scary; he gets angry quick but is also a bit of a jokester. Hes smart. Hes tactical. Hes versatile. Hes whatever u need him to be in a given situation (good and bad :) ) Grief manifests as him clamming up (news of his father) or exploding in anger (ignis going blind). Hes a delicate balance of being the Typical Masc Male Archetype while also being a Tired and Worn Down soul towards the end of the game. Theres something very sad about him being so Grown™️ and only 23.
We joke about that all the time (“squeenix wants u to believe this is what a 23 yr old looks like”) but like he is very young, as young as the rest of his team, and he carries himself like hes 30 and battle hardened. And its insane bc after world of ruin, he is OKAY!!! Hes like even More mellow than he was in his 20s! Like that mentality kind of helped him be more prepared for the grim reality of the future and thats kinda sad! Let him read cheesy romances while iggy drives him across the countryside and let him camp and eat his favorite foods and fish w noct and do morning jogs w prompto like let him have the domestic life he was SO born to live in if he didnt live in a time of war, dedicating his body and soul to the crown 😭

i only had one ffxv save file and it got corrupted somehow so i had to start over and decided i might as well bang out the dlcs while I was at it for the weapons and costumes. so i did ignis' dlc yesterday and I had deadass forgotten that when ravus is attacking him in grief over luna's death one of ignis' arguments is 'dying for noctis was her destiny so stop being mad about it' like uh. uhhh. my dude i thought you were supposed to be good at this! i don't think telling him that his sister was destined to die so your little brother figure could live will make him less mad!
anyway i got electrocuted a ton during that fight because despite ignis' playstyle being the easiest i also suck the most at it and tbh ignis probably deserved at least some of those blows just because of that.

fave thing i saw in the prompto tag lately was someone being like "um i dont get why gladio shoving prompto on the train gets him hate when ignis pushes prompto's face away in the car" as if the two are remotely comparable in tone and as if gladio doesnt have just a wider issue with taking his anger out on others

[behind] - to fuck my muse from behind // gladio @ nine
He was taking a nap with his back against the door when it opened all of a sudden. Falling on his back he opened his eyes to meet none other than gladio who seems to finally let him in. The look on nine's face was without any reaction, just his green eyes staring at the view above him. The other telling him to come in and walks back into the room but the agent doesn't move.
Tumblr media
" maybe we should break up after all." he went silent staring at the ceiling for sometime before he continued.
" don't get it wrong.. our argument can be solved. I can fix my attitude and it was my fault to make you mad and all. It's just ...... I don't get it. How you been able to stay away from me like that...? I can't do the same..." What is this new feeling at his throat? Maybe he loved gladio more than he wanted to admit. Maybe the other is interested in him but not on the same level. He wouldn't be able to survive being pushed away again. It was too painful. But Gladio seems just.. fine?
"I am an asshole. but I don't want to be a pathetic one..." he closed his eyes and got up. Deciding it might be the best for both of them if he stops clinging to someone who doesn't exchange him the same level of feelings. but before he could walk out he got pulled by the back of his collar and thrown on the bed with one pull. The door was shut and in a blink of an eye gladio was on top of him. "wait.." he doesn't know why he felt.. intimidated. Why gladio was mad as if he got insulted?!
For a moment Nine though he was going to get punched but instead he got a deep rough kiss that he missed so bad. It did mess with all Nine's system and got him lustfully speechless. How much he was looking forward that taste. Was Gladio barely holding back all this time too? Is it why he was angry? Before he could react to anything nine was face down on the pillows and his ass was exposed.
Gladio fucking his ass raw like that.. was rude. But the cyborg didn't complain at all. He could take an angry and horny gladio any time as long as he was still welcomed in.

"UNO"
"Prompto, I swear to god, if you win again ill kill you"
"I'm joining in on that"
"Anything for his majesty"
Sooooo you were currently sitting at a picnic table, cards in hand, watching 3 angry men stare down a VERY scared Prom. The poor guy chuckled and shied away from the group while Noctis silently took his turn, slapping down a card as he continued to glare at the blonde. Ignis took his turn and as always, he took 5 minutes to analyze his cards. You bit the inside of your cheek, and looked down at your own cards, feeling a little bad for Prompto. But he had won 3 times already, so that made any guilt you felt fade away. This was war.
As you scanned your cards you found a pretty deadly one in the mix. Should you do it?
Should you play a +4 on Gladio when he only had 2 cards left?
He might actually strangle you, nobody would be able save you.
Oh well. You will die a peaceful death, suffocating in his bicep.
Your turn
"NO WHY" Gladio yelled out from next to you when he saw the card you gently threw into the pile, making you cringe away from the burly man. Noctis burst into laughter, and Ignis joined in silent chuckles when he saw the card.
"Y/n, baby, why would you do this too me??" you closed your eyes and sighed, slowly facing the man. You cracked one peeper open to see that he looked SO depressed, his shoulders were hunched and he was grumbling as he grabbed the extra cards. Feeling bad, you brushed your arm against his and gently leaned up to kiss his cheek. He just glared at you, and continued pouting.
Gladio finished taking all the cards, and soon it was Prompto's turn. Everyone waited with bated breathe as he sighed a reluctantly took one more card. Cue everyone cheering.
Prompto looked like a kicked puppy, so you leaned over to him to give him some encouragement. Kinda
"Just remember, you've won 2 times already" you winked and pulled yourself back to your original position as Prom reddened, and gave you a small smile. You returned it, and the game continued.
Finally, it was your turn once again. You turned to Gladio and saw him intensely staring at your cards, almost like he was scared of what was going to happen. You smirked to yourself and put down a regular red card, and you watched Gladio's body sag with relief. He exhaled and put down a green card (same number) without thinking twice.
And then everyone turned to Prompto, who sheepishly drew another card.
And then another.
And then another.
This went on for a WHILE
Prompto started screaming about how he "doesn't have a green" and your party started wheezing with laughter at the poor blonde.
Finally he managed to pull one.
Prom let out a relieved groan as he set down a green nine. He looked down at his massive amount of cards he accumulated and you counted that he had 10. You gave him a sad smile, and he opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted.
By Ignis telling Noct "not to do it"
You looked over and saw the prince shaking with laughter, as Ignis (having seen the card being shown to him) was desperately telling Noct not to do something.
And then he put down a green reverse card.
And Prompto almost burst into tears. He cried out one final "I DONT HAVE A GREEN" while Noctis fell backwards with laughter. You looked around the group, and mentally took a picture of everyone.
Promptos look of absolute betrayal, Gladio holding on to his stomach and wheezing, and Ignis with his head in his hands.
And of course, Noctis on the ground.
You leaned your face in your hands that were resting on the table and chuckled, and slightly kicked the giggling prince who was rolling under the table.
You loved game night.

Just a lil short one :D
I rewatched this uno video and I love it so much lol

Healing Red -Noctis Lucis Caelum-
masterlist | request
Prompt: i have a request bout noct where the reader is a white magician, however her powers turn red n strong when shes angry or sad (like scarlet witch), that happens sumtimes and then, when noct is in great danger, she cant control it and unleashes a massive amount of power and saves him, the rest is up to u :)
Pairing: Noctis Lucis Caelum / Reader
Summary:
Word Count: 900 A/N: I haven’t seen the wandavision series or anything else besides the main marvel movies, so the beginning scene is kinda ‘inspired’ from the age of ultron movie.
Tumblr media
For a split second, your heart stopped. In front of you was Noctis, lying face down in the dirt. A Yojimbo stood over him. His sword raised far over and behind his head, ready to strike the fallen prince.
Your muscles exhausted from the endless battle. All attempts to stand quickly halted. Either by an enemy striking you or your own body giving out.
You glance up just in time to see the deamons sword begin it’s long decent down. From your position on the ground your arm reaches forward, hoping to summon a barrier or something protective.
Yet nothing happened.
Your body ached with each movement you made. Even the attempt to use magic drained all the energy you had.
With your last bit of strength you managed to pull yourself up to your knees. Head hung low, long panicked breaths. With one final burst of energy, you let out a scream.
Nothing else could be heard over the loud screech released from your mouth. Around you the enemies begin to fall. Their weapons and armor hitting the ground with a loud clank of metal slamming against various materials and objects.
Once the noise you were creating stopped, Everything went dark.
♡♡♡♡♡
For what felt like hours, you felt yourself slipping in and out of consciousness. Drifting into the darkness only to feel yourself constantly being moved. Body carried in someone arms, resting on a leather seat, gently placed on a soft sofa.
Slowly you begin to wake up. The silent void replaced with distant. Voices became clearer as words started to connect. You were able to recognize the tones and place them to a person. Ignis.
“I’m not sure on their situation. They’ve been out since we found them.” For a minute he was silent before speaking again. “Yes. I’ll keep you updated, Goodbye.”
Your heart almost broke at the sad tone within his voice. The royal retainer let out a long sigh, likely pinching the bridge of his nose. Before anymore could be said the sound of a door opening came.
“Any updates?” Ignis asked the new person. “Nope, I’m guessing nothing from you.” A deep voice answered. “They haven’t made a peep since we got them here. Prompto has yet to return.”
A creak filled the room before footsteps became louder then stopped in front of you. A hand found itself on your head while a voice softly whispered to you.
You stir slightly at the contact, causing the person touching you to jump back.
“Y/n” Ignis spoke half worried and half excited. Slowly you begin to open your eyes as they adjust to the bright light surrounding you.
In front of you stood 2 different men, both looking with different expressions. Ignis stood worried as he was unaware of how you were feeling while Gladio was excited with a small smirk resting on his bearded face.
“Glad to see you awake”
Gladio spoke first while moving to sit next to you while Ignis began hounding you with various questions.
A loud gasp caught all of you attention. Turning toward the doorway a smile similar to before spreads across your face. Standing by the opening, still in his winter coat, stood Prompto. Tears filled his eyes as he rushes to you with open arms.
“Does that mean Noct is also awake?” He whispered
You quickly pulled away with a worried and shocked expression. Even though you’ve only been awake for a few minuets, you failed to worry about the missing person.
“What wrong with Noc?” You questioned looking in everyone’s direction for an answer. Simultaneously everyone glanced toward the closed door.
As you walked toward it, reasons began to spill out
“He never woke up. We found the both of you alone in a field. He had wounds all over him. You, not so much but still unconscious.”
You closed your eyes and remembered back to that night.
You and Noctis surrounded by enemies. You defeat one and two more materialize in its place. Before you knew it, you were completely swarmed. Everywhere you look was covered by the unmistakable purple haze of a deamon.
While they weren’t attacked you physically. The magic usage itself was tiring enough to make it difficult to stand on your own.
Soon you fall to your knees in exhaustion, causing all but a handful of enemies to turn their attention towards Noctis - who is just as exhausted as you.
As the hoard of enemies begin to clear away from the prince, you glance up to see the damage only to see him lying on the ground.
Your eyes snap open at the memory of your power blast filling your head. Your heart begins to ache once you realize, you did this to him. Not only did you kill the the enemies, you also hurt the one you were trying to protect and save.
In a rush, you hurl yourself on the floor to kneel in front of the sleeping prince. You hand clasps around his. The other stood back with a confused look resting on their faces at your sudden outburst.
That shocked turned to amazement as both your hands and his begin to glow and red hue. Silent filled the room as everyone observed your actions from a distance.
The long silent finally lifted as a long groan filled the room as Noctis sat up rubbing his head.

inspired by a conversation i was having yesterday, i don't see it get stated enough that the thing that set Gladio off on the train was Ignis' hesitance at stopping in Tenebrae
the Train Scene™ already has drastically different context in the original Japanese version compared to the English localization, but even aside from that, Tabata actually acknowledged in an interview that the reason Gladio got so angry is that he understood what had happened with Ignis and the Ring
here's Ignis, someone who was taken from his parents and trained to be a servant by the age of six, who made an awful (and pointless) decision because he was conditioned to do so, and the person he was trying to protect is currently sitting three feet away from him and pretending like he doesn't exist so he can instead mourn his would-be bride
Gladio got angry because Noctis was prioritizing Lunafreya (who was already dead) by insisting they stop at Tenebrae, with no regard for how that would affect a newly-blinded Ignis (who is very much alive)
and in the Japanese version, unlike the dub, Gladio has a whole lot of patience for Noctis up until that point
Ignis' suffering is what ultimately made him snap.

So I started reading this fic, and I’m drinking it down.
Fanfic: Penumbral by Salty_Mog on Ao3 (art of a scene in Ch13: Shell Shock)
Summary:
[Noctis had told his friends he remembered very little of his decade in the crystal.]
[Noctis had lied.]
Trapped in Reflection, Noct discovers Bahamut isn’t quite the benevolent deity he’s made himself out to be. Feeding on death, the Draconian waits in anticipation for Noct’s final sacrifice. And as the sun rises at last, Umbra offers Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto an alternative—but with a catch.
Now, back in a world of light, the four of them discover that behind every happily ever after is a big flaming mess of new problems—from angry gods, to relentless Niffs, to the fallout of a decade spent in darkness, to trying to figure out what exactly is wrong with Noct.
And, as each man battles his daemons, Noct himself finally learns—once and for all—that no one is an island.

So I finished FFXV ages ago, but I've been thinking about it lately bc you know, I elaborated the chocobros' story far further than it was meant to go and got way more attached to them than I should have. So here're some things that the game did really well and some of the things it didn't. (you don't have to agree w anything here; I'm not trying to corrupt y'all w my opinions; I just feel like talking)
Let's start with the bad to get it out of the way:
CINDY. I swear to everything holy her character had the potential to be So Cool if she hadn't been so overtly over-sexualized. Like, I'm a woman-liker too and I get it, lady mechanics are hot af, but you know what else is attractive? Safety in the workplace. Cindy's outfit was not something any mechanic would be caught dead wearing. Yeah, it was designed to be sexy, but do you know how many burns she would've accumulated from the hot oil and metal she works with? There's a reason mechanics typically wear clothing zipped up when they're actually working on something. If anything, Cindy's character design just made me uncomfortable. Her character itself? Great. No qualms there. Her design? Please acquire more than two square feet of fabric I'm begging you. I just feel like Cindy deserved to be so much more than fan service.
Luna's brief time on-screen. Yet another potentially incredible and deep female protagonist who got short change from this game. People joke a lot that Luna wasn't at all an important character because the game never really treated her like one. She was MEANT to be important, clearly, but it felt like she existed just for her tearjerking death scene? Like there was SO MUCH overlooked potential to bring her into the storyline as more than Tragic Love Interest In White, and yet?? Idk it frustrated me.
The emotional aspect of the game felt rushed. There were a lot of emotional scenes covered throughout the plotline ranging from King Regis's death to the deal with Prompto at Zegnautus Keep. I feel like the game TRIED to cover them realistically and show the characters' grief, but it didn't quite get there. It was just sort of an "Oh, how sad. I'm so upset and angry. Hm, what's that? My friends believe in me without truly understanding and I can kill someone to ease my pain? Oh okay I'm better now." I get that realistic healing cycles are kinda hard to portray within a set timeframe, but having some lingering effects of the blatant trauma inflicted would've been nice. You don't recover from shit like that in a week's time.
Character personalities tended to be one-sided. Noctis was edgy, Prompto was happy-go-lucky, Gladio was tough-guy, and Ignis was... nevermind, Iggy was great--- HE had some on-screen depth. Personally, I've developed these characters myself far more than what the game gave us, but I wish we'd gotten more canon depth beyond their surface-level traits. I love them with my whole heart and they deserve genuine complexity.
Now the things I actually really enjoyed:
The graphics were on-point. The amount of detail put into character design and into monsters was insane. You could zoom in and see individual textures on skin and hair and feathers, bringing a level of realism to the game that I personally enjoyed.
All of the Latin and Norse mythological references!! As a Latin nerd, I found little gems everywhere in this game. Esp in the names--- (Noctis Lucis Caelum = Of-the-night Sky-of-light (the genitives in there make the literal translation kinda a mouthful ik) Gladiolus Amicitia = Sword-flower Friendship (the gladiolus is an actual flower that gets its name from the Latin word gladius, meaning sword, for its sword-like shape) Ignis Scientia = Fire Knowledge; Prompto Argentum = Ready Silver (the word prompto is actually in the dative (possibly ablative), making the literal translation nonsense, but if they'd made his name Promptus, it would've sounded awkward, so I can see why they picked the dative/ablative form of the adjective for stylistic reasons and I put the rough translation instead)) WOW THAT WAS A LOT OF PARENTHETICAL INFO WHOOPS
Ardyn's character. I'm not saying this bc I'm one of the fans who fawn over him---Ardyn is DEFINITELY NOT MY PREFERRED FLAVOR OF MAN, but character-wise, he made an excellent antagonist. He was witty, slick, and classy in an I'm-gonna-outstep-you-like-it's-hopscotch sorta way. He was a poetic villain done well, which made him an antagonist you could both sympathize for and absolutely detest given the situation. He was both the master manipulator and the pawn one space away from the edge of the board. He can sway a crowd, but you know deep in your gut just by the cunning greed in his eyes that You Cannot Trust The Man. He was definitely Not a good person (tragic backstory isn't an excuse), but he was a good villain.
I loved the bond between the chocobros?? This is probably bc I'm a sucker for the found family trope, but their interactions were so amazing to me?? Like, not even the cutscene stuff. Just their little sidebar conversations during fights or while you're walking around or driving the Regalia. They're Roadtrip Buddies™ and I think that's excellent.
THE FOOD. By god, the food in this game looked absolutely scrumptious and I would like to partake. The Daggerquill Soup? Give it to me I'll pay you. The Creamy Crustacean Omelet? Stop it right now I'll eat that so fast it'll be a criminal offense. Like I know I touched on the graphics earlier, but broski I was not kidding. I guess I know why the game took so long to make it to the market bc the detail that went into these recipes is absolutely mouthwatering.

Continuing this ask with @ruinedbycatastrophe
Tumblr media
It had been far too long since someone had spoke to the goddess the way that Gladio was, yet she didn't get angry. There was no hostility or frustration, because the Glacian could understand where the man was coming from. Her eyes took in his form - both seen and not - and let out a soft breath as she finally spoke. "The Frostbearer loved the God that gave hope to not only people, but to other Gods. He was not the same person as the one the shield hold blame for, Touched One."

Request:
Anon- Could you do a scenario where the reader (gender neutral please) and Gladio wake up Noct while he’s sleeping?
Warnings: None that I'm aware of - tell me if I missed something!
Waking the Prince
You leaned out of the window of the Regalia, your hands hanging near the bottom of the car as you waited for Prompto and Ignis to return from the store. “It’s so hot,” You whined loudly into the paint of the vehicle. “I think I’m going to melt.”
Gladio, who was content to stay in the back seat and read the last chapter of his book, let out a playful scoff. “The only way you’re going to melt is if someone poured water on you.”
You slid out of the car and onto the ground with a thud, your head popping up almost immediately to look at Gladio accusingly. It may have looked weird to someone else, but to Gladio, it was one of the most amusing things he’s seen all day. “Are you calling me a witch? I’ll have you know, just cause I can cast spells as well as Noct doesn’t make me a witch.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Oh yeah? Then what does it make you?”
You stood up fully, your torso visible from where he sat. “Magical, duh!” Both hands flew up to the sky with a shout as if you were summoning a sky god.
“Yeah,” he laughed. “Very magical. When was the last time you slept?”
You shrugged and brought your hands back down to open the car door and enter properly, considering you were sure that the others would be back soon. “Dunno,” you fought the urge to kick your feet up on the dash. “All my sleep is getting stolen by Noct. I mean look at him-” You turned around to glance at Noctis, who was halfway into the middle seat as he slept. “I have to wake him up just so he can move his ass and I can fit.”
He looked at the sleeping prince once, then put a marker in his book then set it to the side, a mischievous smirk forming on his lips. “Why not wake him up now?”
“HEELLPP!” You screamed, running as fast as you could away from the car and towards the store. “HOOLY SHIT GLADIO YOU DUMBASS HE’S GONNA KILL US!”
Gladio was right behind you, looking equally panicked and amused. “Quit your whining and run, damnit!”
“I AM RUNNING!”
Hearing the commotion outside, Prompto and Ignis summoned their weapons and ran out of the store, expecting an attack of some sorts. They rushed out of the store, only to be tackled by you two and pushed back inside and rushed behind the nearest shelf.
“What’s going on?!” Prompto panicked and you immediately shushed him with a finger to the lips.
“Shush! He’s coming for us!” You despaired. “I’m going to die before I even get to meet Lunafreya! What kind of an end is this?”
Ignis, entertaining the other three, crouched down lower and ushered them to join him. “Y/N, what did you do?”
Your eyes widened. You placed a hand over your heart as if you were just shot by your best friend. Well you were. In a way. “I didn’t do anything this time! It was all Gladdy! I told him not to do it, and now I’m not even going to make it out of the Crown City!”
You ignored the strange looks the customers gave you. Four Crownsguard cowering behind a store shelf to hide from Six knows what; It was definitely a sight to see and one that certainly would happen again once they set out to Galdin Quay.
“This is your fault, Ignis! You’re the one that wanted to stop for curatives!”
Then it was heard- the door to the shop opened, the bell that signals a new customer rang sharply through the air, and both you and Gladio froze.
You peeked through the gap of the shelf, watching as the angry prince stopped to look around the store before folding his arms over his chest.
“Ooh I’m dead. I’m so very very dead.” You panicked as Noct began to observe each and every crevice of the store.
“You said that you had nothing to do with this.” Ignis stated.
Noctis drew nearer, making a show of picking up a random can of Ebony from a stack. He turned it over, glancing over the nutrition label before setting it back on top of the display. You could hear Ignis scoff quietly at his disregard for the staff of the store.
“I did say that,” You hissed as the prince reached the aisle across from the hiding group. “Didn’t I?”
“We all know it was your idea, Y/N.” Gladio may have had a shit eating grin on his face, but he was watching your friend's every move, just like you. He was worried for his life. Just like you.
“Says the one that’s shaking in his boots,” You sneered. “You’re supposed to protect the king, not hide from him because of your bad choices.”
Prompto blinked. “What… exactly happened?”
You jabbed Gladio in the arm with your elbow, barely able to make him stumble like you wanted. “Dumbass over here decided to wake him up.”
“Aand you agreed to.”
With a sigh of exasperation, Ignis began to stand.
“W-w-what are you doing?!” You grabbed onto his leg with desperate hands, pulling him back down with you. “Do you want us to die?! Is that how you repay me for saving your life?!”
He looked forward as he stood fully, the only thing you managed to do was wrinkle his trousers (he’d deal with you later), and met eyes with the very person you were hiding from.
“Specs,” Noctis greeted, his tone clipped. He sounded as if someone killed his father. “Have you seen Gladio?”
You gave the man in question a winning smile. “I told you it was all your fault. You just didn’t want to say anything!”
Ignis cleared his throat. “Just.. Gladio?”
You quickly pushed Prompto to stand so you could hide behind two people. It also helped that Prompto was the definition of a distraction.
“Noct! What’s up?”
“Noct is apparently looking for Gladio. Have you seen him, Prompto?”
Prompto held his hands together behind his head. “Uh- I don’t think so…. Why? Did ‘ya need him for something?”
You motioned for Gladio to start crawling around the opposite end of the shelf, hopefully giving you enough time to escape back to the car and act like nothing happened. He gave you a nod and began to sneak out of the store.
“Alright,” Noct sounded closer, a bit more of a tease in his voice than a bite this time. “Have you seen Y/N?”
You didn’t have the chance to turn to the three people behind you, too focused on escaping the wrath of Noctis. If it’s one thing you didn’t want to be, it would be on the opposite side of his anger, which you were currently on. You hit the bottom of Gladio’s boot to urge him faster (he kicked back in short protest, but hurried on anyway).
“No, I uh… can’t say I have.” Prompto let out a nervous laugh.
“Huh. Shame. I guess I'll just have to….”
Suddenly a pair of thin, pale arms wrapped around your body and pulled you up, forcing you back until your back came into contact with Noctis’s chest.
“Noct! Hey, buddy!” You laughed, nervously patting the arms that were still wrapped around you. “What’re you doing here?”
“Where’s Gladio?” He asked, spinning you around so you faced him instead of Gladio (who made it out completely hidden, good job Gladdy). “And don’t try to lie, Specs can tell when you’re lying.”
You rolled your eyes. “Using my brother to your advantage is really low, Noct. I’m hurt.”
Ignis smirked. “Sometimes I wonder how we’re even related.”
“We’re not, I was adopted. Even a preschooler could have figured that out.”
Prompto had disappeared off to where you guessed Gladio was, leaving you with your bestfriend and your brother, a combination that you’ve experienced a bit too often. By now Gladio would have left the store, meaning you needed to get the hell out of there.
“He’s out by the Regalia,” You put your hands up in surrender, easing your way out of his hold. “Always has been from what I remember.” From the corner of your eye you saw Ignis raise an eyebrow, but he remained silent.
“And if he’s not?”
“If he’s not then you get to play King’s Knight all day and you can skip vegetables at dinner, and -”
“Noctis is most definitely not going to skip anything on his plate tonight!” Ignis intervened, taking the food reins from you the moment you thought you had them.
You shrugged your shoulders. “You’re right. Let’s just go back to the car.”
There it was, just as normal as it could be any day of the week. Prompto was sitting at the driver’s seat tapping the steering wheel to the drums of the music on the radio, and Gladio in his spot in the back, reading the new book series Prompto got him a while back.
“See?” You outstretched your arms in a grand sweeping motion in the direction of the car. “Like I said.”
Noct looked at you, then Gladio, then back to you. “Don’t think you’re out of this one.” He started toward the tank.
“HOLY SHIT GADIO HE’S GONNA KILL YOU! …… FUCKING RUN!!”
“Gladdy,” You whispered to get his attention from the passing rocks on the road. “Hey, Gladdy.”
Gladio glanced at you for a quick second, then looked back towards the road. “What?”
You scooted as far away from Noct as you could, pressing yourself against him. “What did he do to you?”
Gladio sighed through his nose and brought his hand up to pat your head. “You don’t want to know.”
Pouting, you removed his hand and decided to press the issue further. “Please tell me? Pleeeeaassee?”
A raised eyebrow. “You’re not gonna drop this, are you?”
“Nope!”
With a quick glance to the prince, who was more focused on the terrain of Leide more than anything, he opened his mouth to speak. “He-”
POP!
“Prompto, I swear by the Six, what did you do?”
“I didn’t do anything! It just happened!”
“Great. Who’s up for walking the rest of the way?”
“All the way to Hammerhead? Are you crazy?”
....
“Look at the map, it’s just next door.”
“Looks that way, on a map of the world.”

The Road at Night by Amarilly (Tookbaggins)
General Rating
Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Ignis-centric
The fire burned low. With dinner long since finished and the glow of the campsite’s protective barrier casting a soft blue over them, Gladio didn’t bother to feed any more wood into the flames. There was no need - the night was warm and balmy. Noct and Prompto were huddled into each other across from him, shoulders pressed together as they scrolled through something on Noct’s phone. The little screen lit their faces with a light that felt harsh compared to that of the wards. Ignis was finishing up what little cleanup their dinner required. It was peaceful and familiar. Until Gladio broke the silence. “Too bad we had to stop here…”

A pirate they call him. So be it. He’ll take the title as he takes everything else he can from them. He’ll take it all, every last coin and jewel and dagger. Never will it equal what King Mors has taken from him.

Noctis Lucis Caelum/Ignis Scientia
“Sometimes you’re my advisor, and then other times you’re more like my mother! Why the hell can’t you just be my boyfriend?!” Noctis yelled, angry tears streaming from his eyes. “Because more often than not, I’m far more than just your boyfriend! Noctis, I love you, but my job goes beyond our companionship or relationship! At the end of the day, you knew I would have to not only be your partner, but your advisor still!” Ignis threw back, gritting his teeth as he, too, fought against the tears that burned his eyes. “Can’t you just be my boyfriend for two minutes without being my advisor at the same time? Are you even capable of that?! Six, sometimes I wish those stories my dad read us as kids were real and the fae could just take you away and bring someone else!” Ignis, whose mouth was open to throw back a retort, shut quickly as his jaw set tight. There were wet spots on his glasses to go with the tear tracks that now shone on his face. “Sometimes I wish the same thing, if only to see you happier.”

Noctis Lucis Caelum & Regis Lucis Caelum
He opens his eyes. Bright yellow stars dance in his vision, winking in the soft glow of the sun. The sky is a perfect shade of dusk, the washes of blue and pink and orange dotted with wispy clouds. The breeze is fresh and cool on his skin, ruffling his long fringe out of his face. This is how Noctis Lucis Caelum knows that he is dead.

Ravus Nox Fleuret/Ignis Scientia
To Ignis' surprise, Ravus snorted loudly. "Really? Didn't you spend a year on the road after Insomnia's fall?" “Well," Ignis admitted, feeling like the city boy he had been in front of the brazen wildness of Leide all those years ago," we were lucky to have a mechanic helping us.” If Ignis had been asked to pinpoint the moment he had started to understand Ravus, it wouldn't have been when the man had reached Tent City for the first time, a wave of refugees in tow, nor when he had fought along Ignis' side for the first time. It would have been the moment when they had stood together in front of that open trunk. If Ravus was to say when he had first started to fancy Ignis - although never aloud - he would have chosen that moment too.

Random short headcannons for FFXV, because I hope it will make your day better in every sense.
-Titus called Cor in their youth chihuahua (due to reason that Cor was 15 years old super small kid with angry issues)
- Cor loves heavy metal and rock, yet has soft spot for when Weskham plays piano
- Cor sometimes for the shit of it calls Kingsglaive by Kingsdaves ... Titus hates it with his whole ass being, and all  the glaives are  so confused (Meanwhile Clarus, Regis and Cid are laughting their asses off)
- On the contrary to popular belief Titus cares about his glaives! It´s tough love without doubt, but the glaives wouldn't want it any other way
- Cid actually helps glaives when they stop at this garrage from mission. Mostly offers them food or shower. Then Cindy checks their cars for any damages. (Of course he sends Regis a hefty invoice)
-Glaives have Guide how to not die on the battlefield and Handbook 101 rules: How to be cool glaive that won´t die in the 30´s (there is a lot of pictures, and it has like 500 pages)
- Glaives uniforms are definitively enchanted. Every piece, even if it looks impractical, has some kind of improvement (endurance, magic resistance, strenght, ..)
- Prompto is the main photographer for sure. But did you know he took photos for Kingsglaive and Crownsguards? Not only the cool stuff for their brochures, but also complete mundane things  such as Pelna hugging Crowe or Tredd sharpening his knives or even laughting Cor with Titus. LAUGHTING. COR. AND. TITUS!
-Regis quite often sneaked with Noctis on fishing trips. Clarus had to improve security measurments because Reg was slacking on his paperwork and young Noct wasn´t attending homeschooling as he should.
- Clarus was actually quite womanizer in his younger years.(I was wondering where Gladio got it from) Until his wife came along and swept him of his feet. Which was quite literally, let me tell ya.
- Gladio by cannon loves to read all kinds of books even comics. I will let you on a little secret  tho ... Gladio´s guilty pleasure are spicy books with romantic plot.
- Ignis enjoyes museums, especialy the art one. He is always surprised by people's creativity and talent.

"Drive safely." - Ignis & Noct, brotherhood era
Prompt #28 of the Love List.
Read below the cut, or on AO3 here.
This one's about Iggy's shitty parents, but there's not any physical abuse nor does it go into detail in general. Just a heads up.
“I think it’s a bad idea,” Noct said, eyes stubbornly on the floor.
In front of him, Ignis sighed, the kind of sigh that meant he thought Noct was being unreasonable and difficult, but in this case, Noct was absolutely convinced that Ignis was the unreasonable one.
“It’ll just be a few days, Noct. I’ll be back before you even know it. In my absence, Gladio will take you to school in my stead, and I’ve forbidden him from feeding you nothing but Cup Noodles all week, so you’ll probably get to eat takeout every day.”
It’s not about that, Noct wanted to yell, did Ignis seriously think he was just worried he wasn’t gonna be fed when he was away?
“Is your uncle going?” he asked instead, still refusing to meet Ignis’ eyes.
“No.” Another sigh. “He and my parents are… on bad terms.”
Noct scoffed. “Yeah, because they treat you like shit.”
“Noct-”
“Forget it.”
Out of the corner of his eye, Noct saw Ignis stepping closer.
“Noct, please. I don’t wish to part ways when you are angry with me.”
The childish side of him almost made him want to remain stubborn so Ignis wouldn’t go, but the pleading edge in Ignis’ voice made it impossible not to give in to him.
“’M not mad at you,” he muttered and closed the distance between them, pressing his face against Ignis' chest and wrapping his arms around his middle.
“I’m glad,” Ignis said and easily folded him into a hug.
Don’t go, Noct wanted to tell him, they don’t deserve you , but all he managed was, “Drive safely.”
Ignis laughed, soft and low, and pressed a kiss to Noct’s hair.
“Always.”
____
Going there had been a mistake, Ignis thought as he drove through the night, caffeine being the only thing keeping him awake. It wasn’t terribly late yet, but it was already dark and he hadn’t slept well the past few days, especially not at his parents’ house.
Realistically, he knew he should’ve waited until the next morning to go home, but he couldn’t stand the mere thought of spending even a minute more in his parents’ house. It had only been two days, and he’d been meant to stay for nearly a week. But from the moment he’d walked through the door, he’d heard Noct’s voice in his head, telling him what a bad idea this was, and his parents had seemed determined to prove him right.
Noct had been right, of course. Ignis was going to have to apologize to him.
Keeping his eye on the road, he pressed his thumb to his phone to unlock it and started dictating a message to Noct.
Coming home later tonight. Thought you’d want to know. Sleep well, and I’ll see you tomorrow.
He hit send and then, just before he made to lock his phone again, he hesitated.
“Call Amantius Scientia.”
His uncle picked up on the second ring.
And that was really the thing, wasn’t it? Ignis had still been a child when he’d come to the Citadel, and a very young child at that. As such, he hadn’t understood the implications of parents sending their four-year-old son to a foreign country to live with an uncle he’d never met before.
For months he’d waited for a phone call that never came, and after his uncle had tried to gently make him understand that it wouldn’t come, he’d continued to hope in secret for many more years to come.
In his childish naivety, he’d tried to come up with reasons why his parents never called. They were busy, he’d reasoned, but then, so was his uncle, and yet he always made time for him. So perhaps the fees for calls outside the country were too high - never mind that his parents had more money than they knew what to do with. And once they’d fled Tenebrae and come to live in Lucis instead, and still they never called, he finally realised the truth, painful as it was.
The truth was that his parents didn’t care for him, never had, and they were perfectly happy to gloat about their son who was to be the Lucian prince’s advisor to anyone who asked or didn’t ask, but they had no interest whatsoever in him as an actual person.
It was a truth he’d known for a long time, but he’d gotten careless - he’d let himself forget. But being back there, in that loveless house with those loveless people… It was a painful but necessary reminder that his real family was back home in Insomnia, waiting for his safe return.
“Uncle.” His voice wavered, just slightly, but he had no doubts that his uncle had picked up on it right away. “I just wished to let you know that I’m currently on the way home. I should arrive in a few hours.”
“At this hour?” Ignis could practically hear his uncle’s frown over the phone. “What did they do?”
Ignis sighed. “Nothing.”
It wasn’t a lie, they hadn’t done anything. But that was precisely the problem. They hadn’t done anything , nothing that indicated that they were in any way happy to see their son, that they had missed him, that they were interested in his life. They might as well have been two strangers whose house he’d walked into by mistake - and for what it was worth, they were nothing more but strangers to him.
“Ignis.”
“Really, Uncle, they haven’t done anything. I’m… not sure what I was expecting when I agreed to visit, but I should have known better.”
His uncle sighed, the original version of the very sigh Ignis had adopted himself and often used on Noct.
“None of that is your fault, I promise you this. They’re simply terrible people who have never cared about anyone or anything but themselves, and I wish you had never been involved with them in the first place.”
Ignis rubbed his temple with his right hand and reached for the can of ebony in the middle console, hoping that the caffeine would stave off his building headache, but found it devastatingly empty.
Cursing under his breath, he started to keep an eye out for a service station at which he could pull over and buy more coffee.
“This was the last time I’ve been involved with them in this lifetime,” Ignis told his uncle quietly, like a confession. Perhaps it was, if not to his uncle, then certainly to himself.
“Now that’s a sentiment I can agree with,” his uncle laughed, the sound filling Ignis with warmth. Even when reduced to a tinny voice from a phone speaker, his uncle, who had never wanted or intended to have children, who people viewed as stuck-up and unapproachable, offered him so much more care and affection than his own parents.
If Ignis had any doubts left about his decision to cut his parents out of his life for good, his uncle’s laugh washed them all away at once.
His uncle stayed with him on the phone for a while longer, until Ignis spotted a service station and pulled over, wishing his uncle a good night and promising to come see him the next day.
Noct had also replied to his message with a thumbs-up emoji, and had sent a second message to the group chat mere minutes later.
Noctis [20:49]: spontaneous hang out at my place, who’s in
Prompto [20:52]: oooo sick should i bring anything?? 👀
Noctis [20:53]: just your controllers
Prompto [20:53]: okidoki
Gladio [21:01]: Sure I’ll bring the beer
Gladio [21:01]: Just kidding you punks ain’t getting beer
Noctis [21:05]: @Specs
Noctis [21:05]: you’re coming right
Ignis smiled, touched by the unsubtle attempt to organise something to cheer him up.
Noct had been unhappy about Ignis going to see his parents from the moment he’d learnt about it. His concern had been sweet, but Ignis had tried his best to convince him that he needn’t fret, he’d gotten over his parents’ neglect years ago and he could handle facing them again.
Evidently, Ignis had been very wrong, and Noct had been right all along. Going to see them had been a mistake, but at least it wasn’t a mistake he was going to make a second time.
You [21:38]: Of course. I’ll join you in approximately two hours.
Noct [21:39]: ok
Noct[21:39]: drive safely
____
Two hours later, Ignis opened the door to Noct’s apartment, exhausted and suffering an intense headache. He just wanted to sleep, but going back to his own, empty apartment after the emotional turmoil of dealing with his parents wasn’t even an option. Not when his friends were right here, waiting for him even though it was the middle of the night and they surely had to be tired.
“I’m home,” he called as he made his way to the living room, smiling when Noct scrambled up from the couch and into his waiting arms.
“Good to have you back,” Noct muttered, pulling back to eye him critically. “You okay?”
Ignis looked at him, really looked, at the honest concern in his eyes despite his best attempts to conceal it.
Next, he looked at Gladio, sat on the couch next to Ignis’ usual spot - which had been left empty for him - munching on a forkful of Cup Noodles and very pointedly not meeting Ignis’ eyes.
He looked at Prompto who had jumped up and ran to the kitchen the moment he’d heard Ignis come home, who knew more of parental wounds than he cared to admit, pouring hot water over a bag of Ignis’ favourite herbal tea into his favourite mug.
He thought about his uncle, his voice still clear in Ignis’ head, supportive and kind, who had taken him in and raised him when his own parents hadn’t wanted him.
He looked back at Noct, who still stuck as close to him as he could while still trying to not look like he was sticking close to Ignis.
Ignis smiled.
“I am now.”
