Oh yeah sorry if that ask game across that way - I also didn’t mean that cgi is bad and practical is good, but that films shouldn’t *just* rely on cgi - especially for stuff that really doesn’t need it and could do perfectly fine (and look better) with practical , like the mcu Spider-Man suit example - because it’ll often be used as the ‘easy way out’ (even though ofc animating isn’t easy at all) instead of thinking about how a scene would actually work or using actual sets and props (which makes it harder for the actors, too, and leads to stuff like directors filming scenes in front of a green screen and just not telling the actors where the scene even is supposed to take place (eg the ‘iron man’s funeral/wedding’ thing from endgame)

So imo: Cgi is great - but it’s great for stuff like animating fantastical creatures or effects, not as a complete replacement of actual film making, sets or props

Don’t worry, I didn’t read your ask like that, I’m just a bit worried that this is something that people might take away form my post so I wanted to clarify that. Yeah, the suit thing is a bit of of an eeeh-factor for me in general because...as far as CGI came, it can look quite cool, but if we take the MCU for example, so many of their clothes looks very, very similar because of that. They have a very similar surface structure and very similar pattenrs and quite honestly, I think it’s just a trick to make everything look as stream-lined and polished as possible and to make the characters’s proportions appear in a specific way (because real, physical clothes bulk and wrinkle etc). When I saw the final outfit for Wanda in Wandavision, the structure immediately reminded me of Spiderman, of Antman and Wasp, of Black Widow, of Pietro in Age of Ultron. All characters who dress like they do for very different reasons. They all just look very, very similar and really, don’t express anything.
