The Bandit & The Miko ~ Chapter 9: Desperation = Preservation

Out of the blue, part of the weight was removed, and a whistling, snapping sound preceded the sharp cries of an animal in pain. Blood splattered on the ground before Kikyo, and she opened her eyes wide in surprise as the weight lifted from her body entirely, and Kaede was released from the other wolf yokai's grip as well. Kikyo's senses went on high alert, and she turned about sharply, finding her bow on the ground and gripping it tight.

What she saw contradicted her understanding of the world entirely. A female yokai was standing there while twin rose vines, thorns, and all were unraveling from around the dead wolf yokai and into her palms. Kikyo and the demoness shared a long, silent stare before either one of them addressed the other.

"Why have you done this?" Kikyo whispered, looking from the dead bodies to their unlikely savior. A yokai that killed other yokai to save, of all people– a priestess whose specialty was purifying their kind.

The yokai woman knelt before Kikyo with her hands on the ground and bowed in submission.

"I am in your service, Lady Kikyo. To protect you from all evils–be they demon, human, I shall kill them all."

"Tell me your name."

"I am Zenatryx." The yokai hissed, looking up to Kikyo with a caustic yellow stare. Kikyo narrowed her eyes and nudged Kaede behind her protectively.

"Though I appreciate your assistance, I have not hired you, Zenatryx."

"No, only Master Naraku tells me what to do. He tells me, 'Follow the Priestess Kikyo through the dark forest and ensure that no harm befalls her.' And I will be forgiven of all my past transgressions."

Kikyo was silent as she pondered over the statement, attempting to find meaning in it.

"Who is this 'Naraku' you speak of?"

"Naraku is my master. His true name I cannot speak. He is the lord of all demons, the white baboon."

"White baboon…?" Kikyo whispered, looking pensive, before wincing as the wounds on her back began to sting and the realization of how much pain she was actually suffering settled in.

"Are you hurt, my Lady? You should not stress yourself. Allow Zenatryx to help." The yokai said in a soothing voice and reached out to Kikyo, grasping her wrist. A searing pain like a lightning bolt of energy had gone through her hand, and her skin sizzled, causing her to pull back immediately. Kikyo chuckled softly, about to chide the demon for touching her so foolishly, when she abruptly fell to her knees and collapsed in pain. Kaede held Kikyo protectively as the yokai woman recovered, looking over at the miko curiously.

"You, little child. Will you help me aid your elder sister? I can not touch her in her state, or else I will be purified. If you would be so kind as to help me, I'm sure your sister will recover from her wounds much quicker."

Kaede gazed at the strangely exquisite creature with one starry, widened eye and considered what she'd said. She looked down to Kikyo and grimaced upon seeing the bleeding wounds, gulping. She recalled how Kikyo had befriended the half-demon, InuYasha and Kikyo's beliefs on such matters.

'Yokai are deceptive and cruel. There be much worse than simple men to fear, Kaede.' Kaede recalled Kikyo's words, and yet… It seemed to her that both humans and yokai could either be bad or good. Perhaps she needed to judge for herself. If Zenatryx was truly hired to protect them, it wouldn't make any sense for her to hurt Kikyo, right?

"Only… if you can promise me that you're not going to hurt her."

"I promise you, I only intend to keep her safe. This is my duty." Zenatryx said with a grave tone, bowing her head.

"Ok. So, what do we do now?"

"I shall teach you the healing arts of the yokai. We work the most fantastic wonders."

I was my niece's photographer that day and honestly thought I got more pictures while there, but I stopped to chat to more cosplayers than I took pics of apparently.

How is sesshomaru in the sack and what are your thoughts on koga, bankotsu, and naraku

Sesshomaru is obviously incredible. God tier. So much skill I wouldn't even know how to handle it.

Koga is wonderful. I deeply love Koga. His character developed and changed as the series went on and I really like the softer moments we'd sometimes ass with him. Also hot.

Bankotsu was an interesting character to me. As I've gotten older, I've grown to appreciate what they were trying to do with his character. The more you learned about him the more interesting he became. I never hated him, never liked him. But he's definitely a character I remember and appreciate.

Naraku I mean he's the big bad. Unfortunately, sort of hot. I never particularly liked him, but I didn't full on hate him. I'm still sort of meh about him. But I have so many friends who adore him so I like him a bit more now through osmosis.

But yeah Sess is my bae for life 💚

VIZ Media just put a bunch of official, complete anime on YouTube for free

Exactly what it says on the tin. Here's the link to the official article from Viz. There are ads* ofc but to be able to watch these for free in HD is a pretty big deal.

Note that they are all Japanese dub, English sub. (The subtitles are not YouTube captions but part of the video itself, for whomever it may concern)

Here's the current list w/ links to the official playlists:

Death Note (All 37 episodes)

Hunter x Hunter (Seasons 1-3, 148 episodes)

Inuyasha (COMPLETE SERIES W/ ALL THE MOVIES)

Mr. Osomatsu (Seasons 1 & 2, 50 episodes)

Naruto (Seasons 1-8, 220 episodes)

Sailor Moon (COMPLETE SERIES)

Handful of other movies, 4 of them are Inuyasha that's already been stated above but includes TIGER & BUNNY, K Missing Kings, Accel World, etc.

I hope this helps someone who's been wanting to watch one these shows! I know most people don't get news from Viz so I didn't want this to just go quietly under the radar because this is actually p nice to have in a world where you either have to pay for or pirate everything. I really hope they add more titles in the future!

*Also, they say ads but I use Firefox w/ uBlock and all the other anti-capitalist goodies and I've watched the first SM episode and gotten no ads so this may actually be an avoidable thing for a lot of us so like,,, go watch some free anime luv lmao

EDIT: I have been informed that this is not available in counties outside of America. Which isn't surprising but is disappointing. If someone w/ a VPN wants to let me know if they can work around this lmk and I'll update here.

Kikyo, Captured Chapter 10: Precipice Above An Abyss

"This is your opportunity, Naraku. What will you do with me? Will you kill me, or kiss me?" Kikyo responded gently as she gazed into his blood red gaze, reaching out to him once to attempt to heal the scratches she'd left on his cheek. She was puzzled, Kikyo had scratched him as a test to see how he'd react without the interference of Onigumo, and it had given her an odd result. She thought that he would kill her right there and then, but InuYasha had made sure that didn't happen.

Yet, now… InuYasha was suppressed as well. It was just her, and his demons. Kikyo sighed and removed the ribbon from her hair, allowing it to flutter away with the wind, Kagumei and Kagome looking on in wonder. Her loose black strands fell and surrounded her face, wafting her heady floral scent towards him. Something else was there as well, a warm, womanly scent that Naraku's sensitive olfaction was well aware of.

"Do it. Do whatever you will with me, I'm ready. I will not fight." Kikyo closed her eyes and surrendered her body to him, stepping directly into his arms as if to embrace.

Naraku surged forth and placed his hand around her throat, hoisting her body up into the air. He tilted his head to the side and an unnatural chittering sound left him, a venomous saliva building in his mouth. Demonic mandibles like a spider's formed as his canines enlarged, and a greenish saliva dripped down his chin. Do it. Do whatever… the demons repeated, and were very tempted by this offer. They could either devour the object of Onigumo's affections, or defile her. Or maybe, they could finally do away with her once and for all.

As Naraku debated on this, Kikyo felt her airways closing and heard her blood pressure thumping in her ears. Naraku leaned in close and traced her tear tracks with the tip of his nose, taking in the scent before a pointed purple tongue snaked out and licked them away. He savored the salty flavor, leading him to wonder how her blood would taste as well. Kagome shuddered from within, crawling away to the farthest wall in Kikyo's heart in order to escape Naraku. Kikyo seemed truly prepared to let him kill her. "Kikyo… If you let him, he'll do it… Do you really want to die?" Kagome whispered, before hearing Kikyo's answer.
