went to shibden hall this morning! :-)

#shibden hall #anne lister #after so many years of wanting to go! #weirdly it mainly made me sad lol #but that might be bc i’m on my period #like just that basically none of her belongings (minus the diaries) really survived #+ she never got to use her new library #+ like i’ve always found the whole thing of #ann walker having to bring back her embalmed dead body to shibden #+ then getting forced out of her home + into an asylum pretty much immediately after this traumatic journey #very upsetting tbh but it hit me again today ! #anyway i know anne lister was a big landowning tory etc but….. i cant help having a fondness for her + ann #it was interesting tho cos in the barn it had a notice like #‘the state of general despair here is to represent what it would’ve been like when anne returned in 1836’ #+ mentioned that was cos of filming #so i’m intrigued about how much time they’ll be jumping/covering in s2 tbh!
