"Blonde girl with powers accidentally hurts her younger sibling with them. She gets shut in her bedroom, is viewed by others as a monster, and has to wear gloves to avoid harming people." Where else have we seen this movie? 🤔

Nefarious as her intentions were, Shetty definitely did wonders for Cate in telling her this:
Indira Shetty: What happened to your brother was a terrible tragedy. It was an accident. Now, I know that you think it's your fault... but it's not. Cate Dunlap: It was my fault. My mother... Indira Shetty: Your mother is afraid. Because you are exceptionally powerful. But keeping you in here will only fuel that fear. What you need is help understanding your power. Help controlling it.
Imagine Grand Pabbie saying something like this to Elsa:
Grand Pabbie: What happened to your sister was terrible. It was an accident. Now, I know that you think it's your fault... but it's not. Elsa: It was my fault. My parents- Grand Pabbie: Your parents are afraid. Because you are exceptionally powerful. But keeping you isolated from Anna and from others will only fuel that fear. What you need is help understanding your power. Help controlling it.

Where to begin.
I'm still blocked from @randomestfandoms / @randomestfandoms-ocs so I cannot reblog their post and reply in direct response. Instead, I have this and a vague hope it gets back to them.
If you would like to read the post that this is in response to, you can find it here.
If you would like to read some context for what prompted their post, you can find it here & here.
Maddie, this apology attempt should have stayed in the drafts until you were able to say what you needed to say succinctly and clearly. You shouldn't have to post an outline at the beginning in hopes it'll help people follow. This kind of stream-of-consciousness word spill would be appropriate if it came directly after the backlash and call outs, but it's been six months and this doesn't cut it. Not only does it seem like you needed more time for the writing quality, but you also don't seem to have fully accepted accountability for your actions, and that's why this apology, all 5.7K words is meaningless to me. Because let's be clear: an apology without accountability is worthless.
Here is what you still need to take accountability for:
1. Weaponizing your mental health struggles when people attempt to address their concerns with you.
2. Gatekeeping ideas and fcs
3. Speaking downright disrespectfully of a passed creator.
4. Betraying your friends and other creators by creating an alternate persona
5. Betraying your friends and other creators by taking their ideas and being unwilling to speak about their concerns and change your OCs.
5. Creating an environment within the OC community where people were so on edge that you might be back they don't trust new creators who show up. One person even left Tumblr. The distrust you've cultivated is so deep I'm still not sure if that creator was who they said they were or if they were you or Emily.
This is what we need you to take responsibility for. Not just being "inconsiderate, stubborn, and prideful." You need to name your actions, why they were wrong, and what you're going to do about it.
Your post phrased yourself as a victim, but you are not the victim here Maddie. Here are specific passages that I found disrespectful:
I would feel attacked and get my backup…it wasn't fair of me to base my accountability and courtesy on the criteria of how nicely someone who probably felt defensive and hurt in their own right approached me about it.
Here you spend more time defending yourself and explaining why you thought your actions were right than actually apologizing and recognizing why people came to you.
You spend another paragraph painting yourself as in a bad place and a victim with a throwaway line that it doesn't justify your actions. This goes directly into weaponizing your mental health again. If it doesn't help the apology and heal the hurt, leave it out.
You mention that people you "considered among [your] best friends" sent you hurtful messages and that you were hurt, and this is the third paragraph in which you claim to be the victim who was more hurt by being called out than sorry for what you did. Maybe think about how your best friends hurt when they discovered your actions?
The very next paragraph you state that this backlash was undeserved and hurtful. It was not a single argument with a friend. It was years of the same behaviors coming out. If you checked my receipts post you'd see how many times people came to you with the same issues only to be ignored or dismissed. This argument was the straw that broke the camels back. It was not overblown.
"I still believe that it was entirely uncalled for that people who I’d never once talked to were jumping on this bandwagon and making statements as if they were involved."
I understand this feeling. I think this may be one of your best points. But as someone who you never spoke to, I didn't have a relationship with you and was in a position to look objectively at the behaviors people were concerned about, compile receipts, and bring it to light. When you're detached from an issue you can call it for what it is, so long as you did the research. And I did my research. I checked back logs, I gathered receipts, I spoke to the people. I did not just jump in. I took time to compile my thoughts on the issue.
"I’m not looking to deflect blame for the hurt that I caused, but quite frankly I was not the only person who reacted badly during that time period and I’m not looking to pretend that I wasn’t incredibly hurt by other people’s actions as well."
This directly deflects blame. I can't even believe you wrote this unironically.
In the paragraph after you mention your mental health again.
When you talk about identifying problems and making a change, this section is fundamentally flawed because you have not accurately identified the problems. You addressed the problems you could admit to, but not all of the ways that you caused hurt.
No one had an issue with your giveaways? We had an issue with you "giving away" stuff to yourself and claiming to be different people. This point attempts to paint you as someone who was really kind and generous and just wanted people to like them, but that doesn't excuse or even explain your behavior.
Limiting your posting is great because I know that people could be overwhelmed by tag lists, but this seems more for yourself than others. It doesn't change your behavior, but removing people from tag lists when they asked to be removed could.
Limiting my availability is again a healthy option, but one that helps you. Not the community.
The irony of you stating that scrapping OCs should be at the top of the list but putting it as #4 is not lost on me, and I hope it's not lost on others as well. It's also insane to me that the reason you give for scrapping these OCs is LOSING INSPIRATION/INTEREST not the fact that some of your OCs were ridiculously similar to other people's and made them. A major and frankly insulting deflection.
Putting the onus on the people you have hurt to reach out to you is shameful. Really. If you know you hurt someone, you reach out to them. If they don't want to respond, don't push them, but geeze. If you know you did wrong, own up to it and apologize. Right now it looks like you're just trying to see how much you can get away with/putting yourself in the position of defense rather than going to people in vulnerability. You're avoiding accountability, and I'm over it. I hope others are too.
Making this "one and done" post as opposed to engaging in discourse about your actions shows that you haven't learned anything and aren't willing to change. You avoided discussions about your actions before, and by pushing it into dms you're eliminating transparency and re-creating the circumstances that allowed your actions to go unchecked for so long. This is unacceptable.
I know you probably consider me to be a "third party", and you know what, fair. But your actions have not just hurt individuals but the entire community. The whole OC community was shaken by your actions.
And until you're ready to reconcile with that, then I don't want you back.

I know I say a lot Anna and Maddie have astronomical levels of miscommunication but the majority of them stem from Maddie being avoidant of negative emotions and Anna’s tendency to express her feeling things in ways that are often unconventional/misinterpreted.

StrangeSpot, Round Fifteen: Hart
Candy hosts a candlelight hot dog dinner with an open invitation to anyone in town. She is joined by Circe Beaker, June Smith and a few dormies who are fans of her books. It’s a good feeling to be surrounded by admirers.
Rhett is many things but one of them is a great big brother to Goldie. They hang out a lot and he supports everything she does, big and small. It’s too bad he never really offered the same support to his kids, Miles and Avery... he’s filed them away under “complicated”.
After some serious cramming on his schoolwork, Leon made it to university. He’s moved into the same dorm as his uncle Brook, who’s the same age.
