John Mulaney stans on Twitter are the worst people (although most stans on Twitter are the worst people, regardless of fandom), but they’ve really done it this time. They’re comparing Anna to fucking Hitler. They are comparing a Jewish woman to the leader of the Nazi party and don’t see a problem with that. What the fuck.

When images first started to come out of the tour, Anna Marie Tendler freaked out online and said "Uh, Taylor, my girl, people who designed Taylor’s tour? This 'Tolerate It' setup looks strikingly like one of my photographs in tone and in aesthetics. It doesn’t totally feel like parallel thinking to me. I’m a small artist, independent artist who is trying to make money and live off of my artwork. I don’t know what to do about this. Ooh! One of your anons said most fans would be fine with the couple if they seemed happy. I totally agree. I’ve had a few parasocial crushes and always feel a certain type of way when it’s announced they have a gf (no matter how unreasonable that is on my end). BUT I always end up happy for them if they’re pretty, talented, and seem good together. I’m cool with waving the white flag, ya know? I felt that way about John Mulaney and AnnaMarie Tendler, which admittedly didn’t age well but my point is that she seemed so lovely and talented and they seemed like a fun couple so I got on the bandwagon. Hell, I almost prefer AnnaMarie now despite that I was a John fan first. Fans don’t want to hate. We have moments of being irrational but they are just moments if we are generally sane and want to support our ppl/it makes sense to support their relationship. Kaia isn’t talented, the age gap is weird, and their energy is weird. It’s hard to jump on board. So I just wanted to support that anon and I figured you may feel similarly! And this fandom needs nuance BADLY haha.

Literally none of us on this side of the fandom would have a problem with their relationship if he seemed genuinely happy with her. But this man looks like he as resigned himself to a miserable existence and every single time he's shown with her, it is bare minimum shit. This is not love or romance. This is like business as per usual. Austin does not treat Kaia like he treated Vanessa or hell, even Lily Rose Depp for crying out loud. When a man loves a woman you won't have to guess!! He will look in love!! Shocker. What a revolutionary concept.

this is definitely my fault for reading facebook comments in the year of our lord 2023 but i can’t believe how stupid people STILL are about john mulaney and annamarie tendler’s divorce. has it ever occurred to them that perhaps a man in the throes of very serious addiction might have been a bad husband well before olivia munn entered the picture. why is it so shocking that an addict made some bad decisions in his personal life.

yeah, definitely a parasocial relationship, but no different than ones "real" celebrities have with fans. think of the john mulaney/annamarie tendler/olivia munn situation--it went down just like this. nice wife guy gets caught cheating and the internet is on fire. people come out of the woodwork with pictures, receipts, etc. it's crazy and kind of gross, but it's kinda what celeb gossip is founded on--a celeb's private life splashed out on the front page for random strangers' judgment.

if anything it just shows me that buzzfeed personalities are legitimate celebs now. and i've felt that way for a long time, but it is really wild to see how many people recognized ned in the wild over the years. people were taking photos of him at concerts or walking around nyc like candid spottings of taylor lmao

i knooooowww!! it’s not like i trusted HIM as a person bc i didn’t know him but it’s more like, even the people who are outspoken about how much they love someone can be a huge fucking liar and you won’t know until you’re in too deep. that can happen in your daily life, not just with celebrities. and i think it’s weird that people only want to bring up parasocial relationships when they’re trying to defend him specifically lol
