Hi. I hope you don't mind me asking your opinion, as a disabled person, about comments I've seen about Sousa's new prosthetic. I realize no group is a monolith, so you won't provide THE difinitive answer, but I would like hear from someone who actually lives through it.
So, why is Sousa's new prosthetic considered ableist but his old prosthetic was not? Is it because his disability is no longer obvious? But if the new prosthetic works better, why is that a bad thing? Sorry, I guess that's three questions. I really hope this didn't come off offensive, I genuinely just want to understand.
I hope your having a great day and have fun blocking the anti-Dousy trolls😊
Hi there! <333 Thank you very much for the question! It's not offensive at all!
As you pointed out, we're not a monolith, so I definitely can't speak for every disabled person out there, nor am I trying to! If someone is legitimately offended, they completely have a right to their feelings. I'm also not an amputee, so I can't speak to that either.
I think there are some people who feel that because his new prosthetic made it so that he can walk completely normally, they feel like it's erasing his disability. There are a few reasons I heavily disagree with this mindset:
It doesn't erase his disability at all: He will still have to care for his leg the same way he would with any other prosthetic. He will still have to keep it clean and take care of the skin to keep from getting it irritated, injured, or infected. He will have to keep up care of his remaining leg muscles too to be able to use it. It's mechnical and electronic, so the prosthetic itself will require maintinence and upkeep as most tech does. It's not going to be like poof! His leg is magically healed! When you get down to it: his new leg is still not his real leg.
I do think there is room for criticism in the sense that Agents of Shield didn't show this on screen. In fairness, perhaps they thought in showing Coulson and Yoyo previously struggling with their prosthetics, they thought maybe it would be enough since season 7 was already crammed. I do think they should've given us at least a little something though. But still: it didn't erase Coulson or Yoyo's disabilities, so it wouldn't erase Sousa's either.
Technological advances: With all the technological advances of the Marvel world and all of Fitzsimmons' inventions, giving Sousa a high tech prosthetic is completely within reason. It isn't like the Agents of Shield writers magically pulled special technology out of nowhere to specifically "erase" his disability, there was already a precendent set with Coulson and Yoyo (and Bucky Barnes). And also LMDs. Even Daisy's gaunlets are prosthetics in a way, since they keep her bones from breaking when she quakes.
If they'd retconned his missing leg or used some kind of hand-wavy magic to get it back, then yeah I could see the argument. But that's not what happened.
Real world technological advancements are catching up too: there are already prosthetics in development that use the electrical impulses of the brain to move the prosthetic limb and allow the person to feel sensations! There are also battery powered mechnical ones. Should real amputees be barred from using these because it "erases" their struggle? No. (btw I am not aiming this at you anon, this is me speaking in general! <3)
Sousa's wish to walk again is in character: Sousa expressed in episode 2x08 of Agent Carter: "I know desperation. You know what I'd give to be able to walk again? A lot." He even uses the word "desperate." This is fulfilling a character trait he had in Agent Carter. It didn't come from Agents of Shield. He wants to be able to walk and is accepting of the prosthetic.
It grants him more freedom of movement and less pain: Especially considering they were in the middle of a dangerous mission, giving him more movement and less pain to hinder him is extremely helpful. And in general, why shouldn't he be able to use something that helps him be in less pain and do more every day? No one should be forced to struggle just to prove they're disabled! (Again not directed at you anon, in general <3)
Anyway, my brain is turning a bit mushy, but I hope this helps you anon! <333

So i read modern aemond au by spideymatcha (?) and modern aemond. He still has only one eye cause! Causs! He has two but he is blind in one due to medical condition. Soft aemond anon (he aint soft in thsi tho)
see (ha) i like the idea of modern!aemond still being blind in one eye for whatever reason—whether it be a medical condition or just a birth defect.
but, i do really like the idea of keeping the concept of an accident and him losing said eye.
maybe the family had gotten the group of children an ‘it’s for everyone to enjoy’ kind of gift, yet no one was willing to share it with the other half of the family.
the toy being a fun addition to mostly tree branch-sword fights.
a small scrap breaks out between the children—the shouts being ignore, being nothing new in the large family—small hands shoving and grasping and trying to yank it from the others. aemond’s one of the older children, and has the slightest advantage over strength and manages to get it in his grasp.
one of the other children, too young to understand the finality of their actions, swings their stick across young aemond’s face—his eye takes the most of the damage.
that’s the moment that catches the adult’s attention—the group of kids became uncharacteristically quiet minus aemond’s wails of pain—and they spill from the house to find the kids all huddle around the boy who clutched his eye as he rolled in the grass.
his mother is mortified. a quick ambulance ride to the hospital.
then she’s broken-hearted when the doctor’s tell her that while he’ll be fine, the eye is lost and would have to be removed.
when aemond’s healed—and older—he’d note that that moment had caused a rift between him and his cousins.
both because of the attack, and being blinded over something so stupid as a toy.
but because he didn’t even know who had hit him in the end, and would come to blame the whole bunch of them for his accident.

Why do I get the impression Luna deals with some form of chronic pain? Afaik there's not a shred of canon evidence for it but it just feels true yk???
---
You know what, Anon? I think you're absolutely right and we need to talk about it.
Imho, one of the biggest indicators that this whole prophecy isn't going to turn out well for the people involved, is the depth of suffering required for those closest to the Gods and the Crystal. There's a real, "the human body wasn't meant to be put through this"-ness of it all. People like Luna and Noct aren't exceptional in any particular way, other than the powers bestowed on them. They're not especially fortified to handle the strain. And don't even get me started on how Luna was essentially trained from childhood to ignore her most basic needs. So let's talk about some of the more physical sideeffects that being the Oracle has taken on Luna:
Chronic Pain & Exhaution: As you said. It's probably not as severe as Noct or Regis', but I guarantee it's there. Luna's under strain 24/7, there's no way that won't take a toll on her body. We've seen how differently she carries herself after she starts awakening the gods: she slouches, can barely speak, can hardly carry her own weight. While that's more on the extreme end, I do anticipate a smaller degree of that suffering to be a part of her daily life. After all, while it's not every day she's awakening gods, that power and duty are always there.
Sensory Overload & Nightmares: Luna more than just speaks to the gods. She's almost like a conduit for them. Summoning them - both for her and Noctis - takes energy and power. Noctis even mentions at some point finding summoning in-battle to be particularly difficult. Though most of the Six were in slumber most of her life, I don't imagine that to mean they were idle. Imagine you head being filled with the echoes of the thoughts of deities. Ancient beings in your mind, speaking in languages so lost you couldn't hope to make heads or tails of. If one of the Six is feeling particularly restless, imagine how distracting that must be for her. Imagine the strange and vivid nightmares (not unlike what we see in DoTF), both imposed and incidental. Imagine the constant pull toward something else, like someone in your ear every waking moment. My personal headcanon for this is that proximity to the bearer of the Ring makes this noise, for lack of a better term, far more bearable. As a child, she once slept for eight hours straight in Regis' arms, and out of the goodness of his heart, he let her.
Lack Of Physical Self-Awareness: Have you ever been so busy, you forgot to eat or sleep? That, but all day every day. At this point, does Luna even have hunger or sleep cues? Can she even tell what she needs moment-to-moment? Part of this is psychological, stemming from years of restrictive training and the like, but part I'd imagine it's quite physical also. After a while, if you're ignoring all your needs, your body is bound to stop trying. This can lead to things such as stomache aches if she eats too much, forgetting to sleep for days on end and the consequences thereof, dehydration, headaches, dizziness, you name it.
Anyway, long story short: our girl deserves the world. Also, fuck Bahamut.

For the meta thing, perhaps the journey to contact the gods and how it affects Lunafreya?
---
Send A Topic For Meta [accepting]
Oh Anon, starting off strong with a punch to the gut.
Before I get into this proper, there’s some context I need to provide about Luna’s character that is arguably the most pivotal aspect when it comes to understanding her fully. It’s something I’ve seen criticized and overlooked, even within the source material itself. See, it wasn’t just the Empire that put Luna through hell. There’s a heartbreaking moment in Dawn of the Future where Noctis is given the chance to see all of history, including everything he never knew happened to Luna in the years they were apart. There’s no way to stress just how brutal her Oracle training is - and Luna began hers at the age of twelve. Fucking twelve. She was forced into long periods of isolation, fasting, intense mental and physical training - and all this is to say nothing of the hellish panopticon of being made into a religious figurehead in one’s tweens. Imagine what that does to a person. With that in mind, know that Noctis is disgusted and horrified, in no small part with himself, now he knows the full extent of what Luna endured for his sake. He never knew. He never knew because Luna never said. Luna, the girl who literally can’t survive the a p o c a l y p s e without writing a letter to her boyfriend about the tea she found and the time her companion said she had a bad poker face, never thought to mention the extent of her training.
And that’s the thing, friends: this is as normal to her as the sky is blue. Try as Noctis and Ravus might have, bless their hearts, Luna was never taught that her life, her thoughts, her feelings, mattered. Hell, she was actively taught the opposite. She was not yet a teenager, suffering after the death of her mother, the separation from her best friend and the subjugation of her Kingdom, when immidiately her image, thoughts, feelings and relationship to her religion were made into a public commodity. Millions looked to her during times of war and strife for comfort, assurance - shit, God Himself put the weight of the world on her shoulders because he was too lazy to do it himself. Luna is the epitome of a good and selfless person being taken advantage of so severely that she can no longer function healthily, and that’s the kind of thing that takes years to heal from. And the worst part is, she can’t see what’s so wrong with it.
With that as our groundwork, let’s move on. Because there is one thing she kept for herself, if only one. A dream. One encouraged by her own Gods by virtue of their prophecy - that one day, the darkness would be driven from their star, and she could be with Noctis again. This isn’t a lunoct apologeia post (although...) - it’s just important you understand, it is the one and only thing she wanted for herself. The dream she worked toward all her life. Yet by the time she was to awaken Leviathan, Luna knew she was not long for this world. Please understand what this means.
At some point between leaving Insomnia and arriving in Altissia, Luna realised she was going to die. She was going to die, and her only dream would never be fulfilled. Her God, who she dedicated her life to, failed her. She would leave her brother, her only family behind; Noctis would have to go on without her; and she would never get the future she was promised. Sit with that a minute, because goodness knows I had to take several. There was a moment in time when that thought first occurred to her, and she had to keep going. I want to say she was too good and noble to run, but knowing what we know about her upbringing, it probably never occurred to her in the way it should have.
We don’t know too many details about what traveling was like for Luna (because the game doesn’t care what she thinks or how she feels), save for what few cutscenes we get, and what Ravus writes in his letters. We know Gentiana was with her for at least some of the journey. We know she visited a few places and was well-loved wherever she went. We know her condition steadily deteriorated from being in fine physical form, to struggling to carry her own body weight. And goddamnit, we know Luna never got the justice she deserved except for in one canceled DLC that made a banger of a book most fans will never read. Justice for Luna.

Hows your relationship with Raven?
Ask my Muse about their relationships with other Muses!
Tumblr media
“Hopefully good. I, uh... didn’t believe I would do well at this type of thing.” At least not until recently, he thinks. But he says nothing further.
The confession gets torn right out from Kamael’s heart, and as he says the words, he feels himself regretting saying them. This is something private. It’s supposed to be between him and Raven! His heart recoils inside his chest like a threatened snake, and doubt and suspicion fill his head, throwing him back to his guard.
“Who’s asking, anyway?”

if your muse could have dinner (wink) with three people, living or dead, who would they choose and why?
she'd love to meet the first drinker and learn about how that worked for them without anyone to teach them how to do things???? it would be an amazing story
@crepuxulum because she enjoys someone who plays hard to get. 'you're pretty and you're smart and you're ignoring me so you're obviously my type' kinda girly. it's the nepeta instinct again
i think also @infiniteproxy? maybe???? just out of sheer wild curiosity. she wants to look inside his head and figure out the differences and the similarities. and to weird zira out (affectionate)
