Q: Who runs this account?

Q: Why was this account created?
A: I initially wanted to run this list/event on my blog, but after an interest check, I realized that I would probably be reblogging a lot of posts! So, to avoid overwhelming both myself and my followers, I've created this blog to share the works that are created from the prompts. :)
Q: How long does this event run for?
A: From October 1st to October 31st!
Q: What types of works can I make and are accepted?
A: Anything except AI! For example: fics, poetry, art (digital, traditional, etc), moodboards, podfics, and playlists are all welcome!
Q: Is this account and event 18+?
A: Due to the nature of this event, yes.
Q: Are SFW interpretations of the prompts allowed?
A: Of course!! Please take the prompts and use them however you'd like!
Q: Since SFW is allowed, can I contribute even if I'm under 18?
A: Unfortunately, no, as this is still an 18+ account and event.
Q: What does 'Your Choice' on the prompt list mean?
A: I wanted to give creators more flexibility with the event and prompts, so whatever the creator wants to do for that day, they can do! It can be another prompt from the list that they haven't done, or it can be something off the list. It's your choice!
Q: There are two prompts per day, do I have to do both?
A: Only if you want to! I wanted to give creators more options, so I put two per day, but creators can pick just one!
Q: Do I have to do all 31 prompts?
A: Nope! You do as many or as little days/prompts as you'd like!
Q: Will this account reblog my work?
A: Yes, but only if I can see them! Once the work is posted, please ensure you've either tagged this account @harringrovekinktober and/or use the tag #hgkinktober2k23!

- ‘This is for You’ by @malarkgirlypop because there is not enough Webster fics out there and this one absolutely made me feel all warm and fuzzy.
- ‘Change Partners’ by @ronsparky. We get Speirs dancing, what more could a girl want.
- ‘Doing Alright’ by @holdingforgeneralhugs. I love this fic so much and I’ve read it so many times. We love Lew and a cute dog.
- ‘You Matter Too’ by @softguarnere this is very fluffy, lovely Lipton fic. Another one that I’ve read multiple times.

I make fics and moodboards so I mainly interact with people through comments and reblogs through that. I also interact with others in their own comment sections of other users fics and art etc. And also through hbowar discord chats.

"Do you even know what you're looking for?" Wylan peered over the mountain of books you had placed on the desk in front of him while he was busy leafing through the pages of some musical score he was interested in.
The prospect of buying new sheet music was probably the only reason he agreed to join´you on your trip to the bookstore. Well, that and your offer of getting hot chocolates with him after you were done.
"I hate to break it to you, but I'm not looking for anything specific, Wy. I'm just here to see what's new," you laughed, pulling out another copy of a book you actually already owned. This book had a prettier cover though, so you also put it on your list of things to keep in mind.
Wylan threw himself back into his armchair with an almost theatrical groan. He really did enjoy spending time with you, but watching you pick up the same novel for the twentieth time today to consider whether it would be worth buying or not was just a bit irritating for him. At least this bookstore had a pretty extensive collection of scores.
"Alright, let me just look at these three...four books and we can leave." You waved a very pretty, but also very old-looking copy of some classic novel around and gave him a reassuring smile. "I still have to treat you to a hot chocolate after all. And I wouldn't want the café to already be closed, would I?"
He snorted, slightly disbelieving of the statement that you could restrain yourself in any way shape or form when it came to books. Still, he patiently waited for you to be done with your shopping and was more than ecstatic to finally grab something warm to drink.

Themes | Rules & Guidelines | Submissions & Posting
Note: this post may be edited and added to as we get closer to Bylerween and receive more questions. Up-to-date as of 09/29/2023.
Question: Where are the themes? Where are the prompts?
Answer: Here. The more detailed prompts are under the read-more cut.
Q: How do I submit an entry to this event?
A: It’s as simple as making a tumblr post and tagging us! Please see this post for more info.
Q: What counts as a "fanwork"?
A: We are accepting more than just fanart and fanfiction. We invite you to be creative with your Bylerween entries! You can post artwork, fanfics, video edits, gifsets, moodboards, memes, analysis, playlists, whatever you can come up with—if it's creative, fits the themes, and follows the rules, it's fair game.
Q: Can I post one piece of fanwork that includes multiple prompts/themes?
A: Yes. Feel free to use inspiration from just one, two, or all three themes for each day! When trying to determine which Day theme fits best for posting a fanwork that touches on multiple themes across multiple days, feel free to just use your best judgment and post on the day/theme that has a bigger part in the fic, or is the closest match.
Q: Do I need to use any of the themes?
A: This answer is a "yes, but"! We tried to be thorough with all of our Bylerween themes to cover all things Halloween + Autumn, but if you think there's a theme that we missed, please let us know! You also have the freedom to stretch the themes a little bit. Theoretically, as long as it features Byler and Halloween, autumn, or horror/supernatural themes, you're good to go.
Q: Does [X] fit this theme day, or this theme day? Which day should I post?
A: Use your discretion on which theme your fanwork best fits, and you can tag multiple themes. Post on the day that corresponds best to the most prominent theme in your fanwork (use your discretion)!
Q: Can I use an old fanwork I've already posted somewhere else as an entry for Bylerween?
A: No. The point is to inspire a wave of new fanworks. We will be highlighting pre-Bylerween fics/artwork in the weeks leading up to Byler Halloween Week, and have a daily queue of older Byler posts running until the event.
Q: What is a Bylerween Rec, and how do I submit one?
A: We want to highlight older fanfics before Bylerween officially starts! Beginning October 1st, you can send us asks recommending fics published before Bylerween that are relevant to our themes! Please see our post here for more information. We will tag these submissions #Bylerween Rec
Q: Can the fic I post be a prequel/sequel to/in the same universe as another one I've already posted?
A: Yes! As long as it is a new work, fits one of our themes/prompts, and follows our rules and guidelines, you can post it for Bylerween.
Q: Can I post my Bylerween fanwork to other platforms (outside of Tumblr and AO3)?
A: Yes.
Q: How do I post to the AO3 collection?
A: See this article for a generic, step-by-step how-to. Our AO3 collection is here. Please wait until your fic's best-fit theme day to post!
Q: Do chaptered fics need to be posted all at once?
A: No! Just make sure chapter one is posted on the designated theme day, feel free to update as you are able (take your time, or schedule posts, and there's no real obligation to finish).
Q: What if I don't finish my work in time?
A: We will accept late entries until November 22nd, which is 3 weeks after bylerween ends. However, after the event ends on Nov 1st, we will not be updating the blog as frequently.
Q: Can our fanwork feature other non-Byler ships or other characters?/Can we post genfic?
A: Yes, and please do! If you feature other ships, the work must be Byler-centric. If you're writing genfic, it does not need to be Byler-centric, but Byler must be in there somehow!
Q: Some of your trigger tags seem like they might be NSFW. Does this mean you'll accept NSFW fanworks?
A: No. We will not be sharing any sexually explicit fanworks to this blog. It is not lost on us that horror themes are often intertwined with sensuality, and that sometimes sexual themes are subjectively interpreted. In such cases where the sexual nature of a fanwork is ambiguous, we (the Bylerween mods) will use our discretion to determine whether or not the work will be featured. If you want to be extra safe, you can send us a DM (if you prefer not to DM this blog, you can message either Ayla @howtobecomeadragon or Jo @wheelersboy privately) with specific details ahead of time. TL;DR no porn.

follower milestone celebration 🖤
hi, friends!
i've reached another follower milestone, so i'd like to do something (hopefully) fun to celebrate with all of you. there are some ideas outlined below, but if there's anything else you'd like to see, please let me know!

Hidden Depths
Pairing: Nico x Javi
Word Count: 1600+
Rating: T
Summary: A one-shot in which Javi is a merman. Nico is his best friend. And both wish their friendship could be something more.
Warnings: Merfolk AU, fluff, a smidge of angst, lots of feelings, pet names, rare pairing, moodboard made in canva
Author Note: Wrote this with the absolutely lovely and talented @beecastle on Frantic Fanfic. Did a little bit of editing but overall it stayed the same as it was written during our timed back and forth session. Hope somebody out there enjoys it 😊

After the big reveal in Nico's backyard pool, Nico doesn't ask Javi what it's like transforming from a human into a merman or how often he returns to the ocean or anything merfolk related at all. When the ripples settle Nico just sits on the edge with his feet in the water, talking about his recent trip to South America like nothing remotely magical ever occurred.
It almost drives Javi to swim in irritated circles.
"Why aren't you asking?" The question is all bite and fangs, cutting the inside of his mouth. But he needs to know.
They always ask, not once had he heard of a human that didn't want to know about the mythical creature they had in front of them.
Nico just stares at him, unfazed about being interrupted.
"What do you want me to ask you, amigo?"
"Anything merfolk related."
"You're assuming you're the first merman I’ve met."
Javi hadn’t considered that. The back of his tongue tastes oddly bitter all of the sudden when he imagines another merman and his best friend together. "Aren't I?"
"Well yes,” Nico admits with a shrug. Like he’s not responsible for giving Javi an aneurysm and remedying it in under thirty seconds. “But we all have our secrets and I'm not too keen on sharing mine so I’m not going to force you to give up yours."
Nico’s voice is always softer in the evening time and he’s being sweet in his own way, not badgering Javi for information, but still. Javi kind of, sort of wanted him to ask. Dare he say it, he’d been looking forward to the Q&A.
Javi doesn’t tell his best friend any of that though, settling for sinking down low and blowing frustrated bubbles in the water instead.
"Calm down already, geez. Look, I don’t need to ask you anything just because you have a giant tail and scales suddenly. To me, you’re still the same Javi you've been these last six months." Nico's smiling at him, eyes crinkled at the corners, the one he often uses to convey 'stop overthinking things, you idiot' and Javi doesn't know whether to feel relieved or splash him.
Nico's eyes narrow, like he knows exactly what the merman is thinking. Javi offers a mischievous grin, but it falls flat a moment later, nervousness making his hands fidget.
"So, you…you really don't mind?" he asks, motioning to his blue-and-green tail for emphasis.
"Why would I? Unless you tell me this whole mythical creature thing is going to interrupt tonight's movie night, then that would become a problem indeed." The smile returns again, reassuring the last lingering worries, and he playfully kicks some water Javi’s way which the merman is quick to avoid by diving into the deep end. He swims two rounds around the pool in less than ten seconds before popping his head up.
Javi’s curls are a soaking mess, pressed flat against his head, a shade darker looking than usual. Nico’s eyes resemble golden fireflies in the fading sunlight, an emotion Javi can’t quite identify flickering in them. He then blinks, and the emotion is gone without a trace.
"Now, mi querido, if you’ll excuse me,” Nico stands up, water droplets sliding down his calves and over his ankles, before nodding towards the house. “I'll go inside to light up the fireplace so it’s nice and warm for when you decide to come in."
The merman’s gaze darts from the house, to Nico, to the pool and then once more back to Nico. His tail flicks, an anxious twist that sends another flurry of ripples across the water.
"I can't stay long."
"Stay as long as you can then."
The exchange is like an iceberg. The tip of it is a conversation about the length of time for this particular evening. But there’s hidden depths Javi wonders if Nico truly realizes.
Javi means he’ll have to return to the ocean eventually, that their time together has an expiration date. It sounds like Nico understands, that he’s saying any time spent together is worth it. But then again, Nico's probably just being nice. Probably doesn't have the same feelings Javi keeps closely guarded.
Regardless, movie nights are sacred. Nothing, not even the end of the world or his embarrassingly huge crush on his best friend, could convince Javi to skip out on them.
"O-Okay.” He bobs his head with a small grin, chin dipping briefly underwater. “I'll be inside in a bit."
With Nico having his back to him, Javi closes his eyes and feels the soft movements of the water, rocking him back and forth. Coming to the human world had been something he had wanted ever since he was a child. But he hadn't anticipated that he would want to stay, that life here would be so appealing to him, that one man would be so appealing to him.
Meanwhile, as Nico adjusts the fireplace settings, his thoughts keep returning to Javi. From the day they met, he’d known his best friend was special. It was impossible not to feel drawn in by his curls and the wide-eyed wonder he viewed the world with, like he was experiencing all the colors and spectacles and marvels for the very first time. The fact that he’s a merman only makes Nico love him more.
(When he’s alone later tonight he’ll probably freak out that, you know, merfolk are real. And if they’re real, what about other supposedly mythical creatures? All this time he’s thought Javi was joking when he called the postman a vampire, but what if he’d been telling the truth?)
But there’s no possibility Javi feels the same way about him. How could someone so special choose to be with him out of everyone else? Impossible. He knows it’s only a matter of time before Javi grows bored of him and leaves. After all, what can he offer him, a bigger pool? More stories about his travels?
Javi deserves more than Nico can ever give him. Asking him to stay with him...it'd be like locking the merman in a cage. It would be a cruelty.
He's shaken out of his dark thoughts by the arrival of Javi shuffling in through the back door, dressed in the dark blue t-shirt and shorts he arrived in that afternoon. He's on two legs again, his favorite pair of scuffed up checkered Keds on his feet, and there’s no trace of shiny scales along his arms anymore. Water drips from his hair onto the floor but Nico could care less, finding the sight of his curls slowly fluffing back up more endearing than anything.
"Just in time," Nico says, gesturing towards the orange flames in the fireplace. "Now we just have to pick a movie."
He says ‘we’ but actually it’s become routine for Javi to make the final choice from Nico’s collection. The merman’s obsession with films rivals Nico’s own love for movies, and he’s determined to watch every single one—old, new, black and white, animated—finding something in each of them to enjoy.
Nico sits on the couch, a bowl of popcorn on his lap, and pats the spot next to him for Javi to sit in. The merman plops down closer to the human than any of the other times. Nico wordlessly throws an arm over the back of the couch, along the back of Javi’s shoulders, getting comfortable.
The movie starts, revealing National Treasure’s opening sequence. It’s a favorite for them both, watched at least twice a month, and Javi leans his head against Nico's shoulder, grabbing a handful of popcorn when Nico leans the bowl towards him.
There aren’t any sparks between them, a love song doesn't start blaring and fireworks don’t abruptly explode in the night sky. The cuddle session just kind of, sort of happens as though it was always supposed to happen. A natural thing.
"You better not start quoting Nic Cage's lines again," Nico says, watching the actor on screen planning to steal the Declaration of Independence.
"The man is the greatest actor on earth. He’s absolutely incredible. Of course I'm going to quote him," Javi huffs, breath hot against Nico's collarbone.
"Then I might have to find a way to make you shut up."
“Impossible.”
“Not even if I kissed you?”
Javi's head snaps up and he scoots back across the couch, his heart beating faster than he thought was possible. Did he hear that right? And then he sees Nico's frightened expression. It must have been his imagination, he realizes, stomach sinking with dread. Oh no, he can't bear to lose him or have whatever they had going on become awkward.
"I'm sorry!" The words tumble out of both of their mouths at the same time.
They stare at each other.
"What?" The same thing happens again, but this time Nico takes his hand, squeezing his fingers, and starts talking before Javi can.
"I shouldn't have said that. I'm sorry Javi, I—"
"So you didn't mean it?"
Silence fills the room once again.
Nico swallows. "I…I did mean it, mi querido. But it was stupid, we—" Javi's lips crash against his, silencing him. The first kiss is a quick one, just testing out the waters. But the second is passionate and heated and just as equally perfect as it is not enough. Nico reaches up and sinks his fingers into his curls, bringing Javi in for a third kiss, and a fourth, and a fifth…
They lose count after that.
By the end of the night, there are two men sleeping next to each other while a movie plays without an audience in the living room. Perhaps this would not last forever, but right here and now they had each other. Nothing else mattered beyond that.

Idk it's just like, my experiences with loss is when everyone expresses their sympathy,,,, and it's nice! because they don't have to feel bad or show you they care and really what can they do except offer a smile or an arm squeeze? but it doesn't really fix anything or stop the hurt so you just sort of hold all those looks and glances with you because it's rude not to accept them!! and you want to accept them!!,,, but they get heavy! (im probably not making any sense rn oml)

Q: What is Digiweek?
A: Digiweek is a general Digimon Tumblr event that is not bound to a specific universe or pairing. We want to give space to those who love a certain universe of a Digimon (be it anime, video game, or comic) but do not have a specific event due to the small fanbase. Or for those who have a favorite pair but cannot hold an OTP week due to the lack of participants. Or for those with ot3/ot4/etc. Or those who don’t even ship but just wanna have some fun.
Q: Ah I see. This is just another Adventure-centric event, right?
A: No, we’re not Toei. This event is open to any Digimon universe. While we understand that Adventure has a big fanbase and there may be a lot of content about them, we want to see more variations and that’s why we hope the fans from non-Adventure universe can participate with contents related to them.
Q: When will Digiweek 2022 be held?
A: From July 26th to August 1st.
Q: Do I have to participate EVERY DAY to be a part of Digiweek 2022?
A: Although we would love to see your submissions each day, we know sometimes life gets in the way, or inspiration leaves and we can’t do what we wanted to. So if you only can or want to join a day, it’s okay!
Q: When will you share the prompts for Digiweek 2022?
A: May 29th, 00:00 GMT. Mark your calendar!
Q: Will you share the sub prompts and walkthroughs on the same day?
A: No. We’ll share the walkthroughs in the following weeks, to give you all enough time to prepare your submissions without overwhelming you.
Q: What kind of content do you accept?
A: Any kind of content, as long as it follows our rules and is properly tagged. Do you want to do an animation? Do it! Do you want to write an original song? We want to hear it! Do you want to share your headcanons? We can’t wait to read them!

A: Yes!
Q: I’m not great at fiction, can I write metas instead?

A: There is no submission limit: please, share all you want! We want to see all your amazing works!

A: We strongly encourage the creation of new content, but you can reblog your old works as long as you didn't submit them for Digiweek 2021.
Q: Can I do requests?
A: The Digiweek blog doesn’t take requests, but you can check the amazing work of our participants and reach out to any of them.
Q: Do I have to publish every day at the same hour?
A: No. Publish at any time of the day.
Q: If I live in Alaska, do I have to publish my submissions when the day starts in New Zealand?
