Hi, anon! Not enough people ship fyozai, that's for sure :/

Why do I ship them? Because of this:

They are just so interesting together. I went into depth on my view of the two of them in this post (an older post now, but it still sums it up pretty well), but it really comes down to how fascinating it is how their characters play off of one another. They are the perfect enemies-to-lovers ship, if you ask me.

They can predict what moves the other one will make and they can predict that the other one will predict that they’re predicting each other, and they can predict that the other one will predict that the other one will predict - on and on into infinity sdfghjghj (although according to the anime Fyodor couldn't predict that Dazai would stick Chuuya in a Halloween costume...but I'm not going to rant about The Season Finale That Shall Not Be Acknowledged here). They're ridiculous. Completely and utterly ridiculous. They play mental chess together.

THEY HAVE THEIR OWN SECRET LANGUAGE.

THEY ARE SOULMATES.

I love their dynamic and how they stand opposed to each other. It's not that one of them is "good" and the other is "evil." Dazai is not good. Fyodor believes that humanity is sinful and foolish. Dazai does not disagree with him. He does not think humanity is good or that the world is a good place. Dazai is amoral; he is not Kunikida, an idealist pursuing justice, and he is not kind-hearted Atsushi.

Really the difference between Dazai and Fyodor is their opposing views of how the world works and should work. Fyodor wants order, perfect justice. Dazai does not believe such a thing exists. It's not that Dazai has hope where Fyodor does not; it's just that Dazai has accepted the world for all its darkness, and Fyodor has not.

And Fyodor does not believe there is any value to life. Dazai is starting to believe there is.

That's such an interesting and multilayered conflict that could be explored in so many different ways...especially if you do what I do and headcanon a redemption arc for Fyodor, haha. They are a lot of fun to write fics of! 😆

Two superhuman geniuses that are so evenly matched they could rule the world together if they wanted. What's not to love about that? I absolutely adore them 😌💖💖

Honestly, I've been a lot more into fyosig lately (talk about a rarepair SDFGHFGH), but fyozai is still my main otp. It's a shame more people don't ship them! I just think they're neat (´꒳`)♡

Olli stared through the dark window of their home, trying to not panic. The rain was getting impossibly heavier and Joel and Aleksi still weren't back; the dirt road leading to town had to be flooded by now, they could be stuck in mud or washed away if they weren't careful. "We never should have sent them by themselves." Joonas mumbled, "we should have gone with."

YES YES YES. ok so first and foremost.... shinbaku is rediscovery and finding your soulmate somewhere youd never have thought to look. shinbaku is the two of them coasting through their late twenties/early thirties and crashing into each other. shinbaku is the blazing sun and the crescent moon, it's early mornings meeting late nights, a barking dog and a lazy cat. shinsou challenges bakugo in the most annoying ways because winning doesnt matter to shinsou like bakugo thinks it should. he inherits aizawas ease, his suave, and bakugos temper is water off a ducks back to him. but bakugo enjoys the time he spends with shinsou, likes that he's not worshipped or idolised, loves the grounding it gives him. and shinsou just thinks-- though he can be loathe to stroke that ego-- that bakugo is the most powerful, wonderous person he's ever met.

I love Near. I struggle to pin him down enough to write from his perspective but speaking solely in terms of character I love that guy. He's a weird little boyking wunderkind and he plays with toys and drives men crazy. What else is there to say.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: 

Meronia is really my only ship for him! I'm not really into any of the other common ones for him, though I can put up with Near/Matt/Mello stuff if it's really good.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: 

I don't think I have one! His relationships with the SPK team are fun but I wouldn't say I think really hard about his friendships with any of them. He has so few relationships with anybody else.

My unpopular opinion about this character: 

This is apparently controversial but I think Near is scrupulously clean to the degree that his immune system is compromised because he interacts so infrequently with common germs. I also strongly agree with headcanons that he's a mixed-race person with albinism rather than a white person with albinism but I don't know how unpopular that one is.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

Mello should have begged him on his knees to hit.

my OTP:

Meronia as previously mentioned! I just don't think he really has deep enough relationships with anyone else. Plus Mello is obsessed with him, so.

my cross over ship:

Definitely don't have one for him but if I had to do it I want to see what he'd get up to with Naoto Shirogane from Persona 4, a fellow detective who's simply a petite young man who favors monochrome clothes and has a fondness for certain media franchises typically aimed at younger people.

a headcanon fact:

I think Near was definitely mute for a significant period of time as a kid due to a language development delay. I headcanon him as extremely disabled with a shitty immune system, bendy Ehlers-Danlos joints to the point that he occasionally uses mobility aids, autism + another developmental disability, perinatal complications that landed him in the NICU for a long time as a baby, sort of a you-name-it-he's-got-it situation. But that obviously has no bearing on the fact that he's a fucking genius.

highkey i dont rlly ship anything entirely platonically in tw, i think they all could have the capacity to be involved (lot of 'ooh... why not? could be fun' from me fhsdk), so these aren't even rlly brotps, they're just the ones where im particularly fond of their bestie vibes.

and those would be (and in no particular order this time)...

gwen & owen (he's her gbf in s2 <3 theyre so bestie coded. i love the enemies -> fwb -> best friends pipeline too. brilliant)

martha & owen (i think theyd be a cute couple too actually but i rlly love their friendship + i think it’s good for owen. also woah a doctor who actually pays attention to martha lmao!)

tosh & owen (their early s1 friendship where she actually called him out when he was bein a shithead + when theyre giggling together when we first meet them... i wish we got more of that. sigh. they could be nerd besties and yet ;-;)

tosh & jack (i love them in cjh 🥺 theyre def one of the healthier relationships in the show. there's still some stuff, but they don't have resentment towards each other and that makes them an outlier dhsfkjds everybody else Does. theyre sweet)

tosh & gwen (girlies!!!!! i would love to yuri them and i do sometimes but tbh they do give me mostly platonic vibes they just have a rlly sweet thing going. i wish they were closer. booking a spa date for them)
