My brain is still trying to figure out what Anji is actually doing here. Like is he lunging at Baiken to hug her? Grab her shoulder? Ramming his head into her back throwing her off-balance? And WHY did he just up and casually to do this, during this conversation which had zero lead-up. Does...does he do this often? When in private?

And Baiken's reaction, she definitely looks surprised but she doesn't yelp or anything, and it looks like she freezes expecting...what? And she doesn't like SLASH him after this, just silently gives him a dirty glare. And when she does speak it isn't about anything he was just doing, or his hand on her shoulder, it's just warning him that his info on 'That Man' better be right.

I want to read into this so much, if I only knew what I'm looking at.

Like, my take is Anji looks like he was going to grab/hug Baiken, and he's done this before so she reacts and freezes anticipating it, but doesn't actually stop or yell at him. Instead Anji just stops himself and Baiken just glares at him for goosing her.

But I see that shoulder stroke there Mr. Mito. And the smirk/lip biting.

Honestly, the funniest thing is I've kinda seen this personality for them in certain doujins. Which I thought were OOC. But apparently, it is Daisuke's vision.

Oh, and Delilah was right behind them this whole time btw. Anji don't care, Anji is shameless lol!

i wish more fanarts/official arts depicted saeran as his secret ending self. his red hair and natural yellow eye color should make more of a comeback ;( when he was brainwashed to hate his brother, he changed his appearance so that he didn’t look anything like saeyoung but once he’s healed and reunited with his brother again i wished that his appearance would go back to the way it was as a symbol of repairing his relationship with saeyoung

Alongside Delilah being a mirror of Baiken, I thought it was really poignant that Baiken has also become a 'mirror' of Anji in the role she's chosen for herself now as Delilah's big sister/protector.

Also Anji totally told Delilah to call Baiken 'big sis', specifically just to piss her off lol.

seen a couple people running to that "is it bad writing or do you not understand genre" post in regards to the ofmd upset. and let me remind people that this show was marketed as a romantic comedy, ESPECIALLY this season!

In that regard, I found an article/blog post that directly addresses the question "can you have character death in a romantic comedy?" And it really hits the nail on the head.

Even if you were to make the argument "well it's a dark comedy!" or "its a pirate show!" there's still a balance that needs to be met if you don't want to alienate your audience.

People are going to argue that the death was earned because they spent the entire season building up his character and "completing his arc". Well, I'll argue that they DIDN'T complete his arc. In fact they took about twelve steps back in his death scene by seemingly ret conning his progress and having him center Ed's feelings on his literal deathbed. So it really feels a lot like fridging, because that's exactly what it was. Izzy's death was for Ed's arc, not his own. And they spent so much time focusing on Izzy all season, focusing on his growth and giving him such a specific arc about queerness and recovery, that yeah, his death feels like a slap to the face and not a tragic story beat that makes the story all the richer.
