my roleplay information/application!
hey guyssss, so like i'm kinda desperate for rp partners so i'm just gonna try my luck here and see if any of y'all are interested in rping with me! feel free to read through this information and message me if you are interested!! as long as you meet my requirements, i would love to rp with you!!
basic information
i am 18 (19 in a few weeks) and i'm okay rping with any age, but i will not rp anything relating to nsfw with a minor. not even implied nsfw, it's just very uncomfortable. but if you're 18+, i'll rp anything on this list with you!
i only rp semi-lit/descriptive. this means at least five sentences, detailed responses that aren't just surface level. it's hard to respond to stuff that's lazy, so please please please just put in the effort if you want high quality responses in return!
the fandoms i roleplay are sanders sides, undertale, your turn to die, and omori. i dabble in oc rp, but it's not very common for me since i don't really have many ocs that i like enough to rp with.
my favorite types of roleplay are heavy angst and whump. i love really dark concepts, and it's rare that i won't do something that's dark and angsty. i struggle with concepts that are just fluff because i prefer rps with a lot of conflict and struggle.
my only triggers are constant discussion about body type/comparing body types and descriptive talk of medical needles. other than that i will do literally anything lol.
i am filipino-american, audhd, physically disabled, and i love to incorporate these aspects of my identity into the characters i play. if you don't like that, we probably won't make very good rp partners.
i hate hate HATE poking. please don't remind me of the rp after ten minutes of me not responding. please don't remind me of the rp after ten HOURS of me not responding. i know it exists, i just need time to reply. if you nag me about responding, i probably will wait even longer to reply because it's intimidating.
i love to chat oorp! feel free to leave a silly message, even if it has nothing to do with rp!
scroll all the way to the bottom of the post if you want to see writing examples!! below are just specific tidbits of information pertaining to each fandom i rp!
sanders sides specific information
the main side i love to play is roman. i will always want to play roman in every single tss rp, he's just me, he's my number one homie, my favorite character of all time.
i can also play any of the other sides, but my characterization for them is not as solid as roman.
i don't really like patton in roleplays unless he's a minor character or an antagonist/villain. i am very good at playing patton as a villain, but i don't really like playing him in any other context. i have so many aus where patton is a villain or antagonist, so if that's your jam, you've come to the right place!
i will do mindscape or human aus, i love both!
i am okay with ocs but i will not do canon side x female oc. it just makes me very uncomfortable to ship sides with female characters.
some of my favorite ships are roceit, prinxiety, logince, anaroceit, analogical, intrulogical, and loceit.
the only ships i WILL NOT do are moxiety, royality, moceit, logicality, intruality, and remrom. every other ship, i'm completely okay with.
i love rping as remy or emile picani!!
i have SO MANY IDEAS for this fandom. like literally hundreds of aus. so please message me if you want to rp anything with angst, or drama, or anything like that because i have SO MUCH.
undertale specific information
so fun fact i'm actually kind of bad at undertale rp.
it's not that i'm awful i just don't have a lot of experience, but i'm working on it!
the main characters i like to play are papyrus, undyne, alphys, toriel, asgore, and gaster.
i can also play asriel/flowey, sans, frisk, mettaton, grillby, and chara if necessary.
i am totally fine with ocs, bring them on!
i don't really like rps with the au sans stuff? nothing against it, i just don't really know much about it and in the nicest way possible i don't really care. i prefer to stick with canon and prequel/sequel aus instead of aus that change up the characters' personalities and stuff.
my favorite undertale au of all time is handplates i have so many thoughts about it and i would love to rp it!
i love angsty rps but undertale is actually one of the only fandoms where i love to rp fluff for it. undertale is just such a goofy game and i love emulating that style of humor in rp!
ships i enjoy are soriel, papyton, alphyne, sansby, and whatever the ship name for alphys x gaster is?
the only undertale ships i WILL NOT rp are anything involving the child characters (frisk, chara, asriel, monster kid), and anything that ships undyne with a guy. i'm also not a huge fan of asgore x toriel but i'll do it if you really want me to!
your turn to die specific information
i am so new to rping in this fandom but i really want to anyway!! trust, i know all the lore, i just need some solid experience!
my favorite characters to play are jou, reko, nao, gin, kai, shin, hiyori, and sara.
i will play q-taro, mishima, or alice if necessary!
i am very bad at keiji, i don't think i can play him well.
i love canon and au roleplays equally! i would love to do either way!
i like pretty much all the ships, it would be easier to list ships i don't like.
i don't like any ships that involve the little kids (kanna, gin, hinako), any ships with a huge age gap (especially sara x keiji), and shin x hiyori. it's just...no.
omori specific information
i am very new to the fandom, so please have mercy on me if i get something wrong lol!
my favorite characters to play are kel, hero, aubrey, and mari!
i can play sunny if necessary.
i will not play basil. i actually don't like basil being present in roleplays, he's just a character i personally dislike. i'm fine with him showing up occasionally as a minor character, but i just don't like him being a big part of roleplays.
i will roleplay canon and aus! i love both! but bear in mind i am a bit more hesitant to rp ships in canon, but in aus i have zero reservations!
my favorite ships are anything involving sunny, kel, and aubrey being together, but my number one otp is hero x mari!
the only ships i WILL NOT do are ships that have basil in them, especially basil x sunny or basil x kel. they just don't sit right with me personally.
i don't really know much about the minor characters of the game...i might need a bit of guidance if you want to use a character that isn't a part of the main six! but i am completely fine with it as long as you're okay with me being a bit clueless.
writing samples!!!
The streets were soft, the dusty sidewalks concealed by powdery snow that made Brooklyn look like a wedding. Roman stepped lightly, wondering how high he would have to hold himself to keep his foot from sinking in the snow, ruining the shiny white blanket that protected his bare feet from the cruel asphalt.
His book remained tucked under his jacket, as if it needed protection from the biting wind. Roman didn’t think it was possible for something that carried such beautiful notions and ideas to be unfeeling, so he acted as though there was a beating heart somewhere between the pages. Nobody had ever told him there wasn’t one, so what was the harm in believing if it made the sky feel brighter, and the air feel warmer, and the world feel more connected?
When he came back to the small, tucked-away alley that he and his brothers were currently living in, he was happy to see a little fire that he could warm himself beside while he opened his new book, aching to see what was inside.
--
"Protect...me?"
Roman was unfamiliar. He was always used to protecting other people. He was tall, graceful and beautiful. Couldn't really throw a punch, but he had a way with his words that could get him absolutely anything he wanted. Including peace. He was used to standing between bullies and victims, seducing with his sweet smile and long eyelashes. Making anybody feel like they've been blessed just looking at him. With his parents always gone, and nobody to hold him during nightmares, Roman had gotten used to holding himself. But now, he just wanted to be protected so badly. He wanted to be truly loved by somebody besides himself.
"Okay..." he whispered, "Okay."
--
"Oh! Do you guys want to go to that restaurant across the street?" Patton asked, "We performed so well tonight, I think we all deserve a treat! Virgil, you hit that syncopation perfectly, and Janus, that riff was amazing! The crowd went wild for us! Drinks will be on me, as long as you all promise not to drink too much. I'll be the designated driver too. What do you say??"
Of course, this invitation was not extended to Logan. Patton didn't even notice Logan in the area, assuming that he was off sweeping the stage or packing up the van. Patton was the one who decided what everybody did, and he usually gave Logan the grease-work like that. He didn't really care very much about Logan, just because Logan wasn't as close to the group. There wasn't that bond of performing show after show, having fans that requested autographs, being followed and gushed over by paparazzi.
Since Logan was never onstage, nobody knew the face or identity of the man who wrote the songs that all these fans were so crazy about. And Patton sort of preferred it that way. He didn't really like the idea of Logan being a face of their band. Unlike Janus and Virgil, Patton wasn't sure how the public eye would recieve Logan. The man wasn't remotely ugly, but he was rather plain-looking. He tended to blend into the background of the rooms he occupied. He wasn't the type of look one would expect to be in a hugely successful band.
All the others had their "niche". Patton was the sweetheart, the nice one, the innocent one. Virgil was the quiet, brooding, mysterious one. And Janus was the charmer, able to seduce anyone with a wink and a smile. What was Logan? He didn't talk very much, he wasn't particularly nice, brooding, or seductive. Patton didn't like that Logan didn't exactly have an archetype. He didn't quite fit in.
--
Roman tilted his head with a polite smile and an appropriate amount of interest as Logan disclosed his name. It was nothing familiar to him, but he did think it was a beautiful-sounding name. He always loved when people's first and last names started with the same letter. It felt like a name out of a fairy-tale when it had that feature.
Listening to what Logan was saying, Roman couldn't help but go red, very embarrassed. He was bad at English, but he certainly wasn't stupid. He could tell that Logan was euphemizing heavily in order to preserve Roman's feelings, which made Roman both embarrassed that Logan felt the need to do this, and honored that Logan cared so much about how he felt. It was a really sweet gesture, honestly.
"You write music too?" he asked, very curious. "I would love to sing a song by you wrote. You will...pay me? Money?"
Roman wondered if Logan was offering him a job, or just wanting to have a jam session as friends and colleagues. He would be happy with either option, but he wanted to manage his expectations there and then, so there would be less awkwardness from false assumptions.
--
Roman looked at it and smiled as he read through the lyrics, his eyes carefully scanning from left to right as he ingested each lyric. His smile only grew.
"It is okay," he said, "I like messy handwriting. It means...it means your brain moves fast, and your hand must hurry to follow. I like this song. I think...I want to sing it. Do you want me to sing here? In front of everyone?"
Roman would definitely be willing to give Logan's song some publicity. And he adored the thrill of singing a song for the first time in front of a whole crowd of people. Roman wasn't the type to get stage fright. The more risky a performance was, the more excited he was to try and execute it. Roman had a bit of a shame deficiency, such was obvious with him singing those lyrics he wrote out loud multiple times.
His eyes were shining with enthusiasm, but also, with gratitude. He was thankful to Logan for the opportunity he had to bring this song to life, this brand new song that no one had ever heard before. The idea that its first breath of auditory life would be coming from Roman's own voice was so romantic that it almost made Roman want to sing it right there and then so he wouldn't have to wait anymore.

Roman, tearing up: So you lied…about everything.
Janus: I didn’t lie.
Janus: I just avoided certain truths to manipulate you.

In the spirit of settling a (friendly) debate between a dear friend and I, may I ask: do tony stark/Loki have more logince energy, rociet energy or mociet energy? Bc we are stumped deadass. Like my knee jerk answer was rociet but like. The more I think about it... -Lo
oooh, that’s a hard one
Assigning them based on character energies – I don’t think either Tony or Loki has a lot of Patton, so I’ll have to nix moceit.  I can honestly see either logince or roceit, but considering that Loki is the god of lies, and Roman is nothing if not a drama queen, I’d have to give the nod to roceit

Snippet: “Sore”-bet
Ship: Roceit
Takes place at the same time as: Soft Serve
“Hey Ro, you mind if I go check on Logan?” Virgil asked, bumping shoulders gently with Roman. “He still seems like he’s been a little bit down recently and I wanna make sure he’s okay.”
“Uh, yeah… of course violet storm. It’s probably better that I’m not there.” Roman said, swallowing down his protest. It wasn’t fair to hog the anxious side all day, even if Virgil was the only person that Roman was on speaking terms with. “I hope you can help him… he deserves it.”
“We’ll get breakfast together still in the morning, yeah?”
“Is morning relative to you? Because it will be lunch by the time you wake up.”
“Hey, breakfast is when I say it is,” Virgil said with a sideways grin, winking at Roman and giving him one last pat on the shoulder before passing by to head towards the blue door towards the end of the hall.
Roman gave out a sigh, pressing his back to the wall next to his own door and letting himself slump against it. Things were… hard recently. He was still hurt. He didn’t want to be, he wanted things to go back to normal, he wanted to give Janus and Remus an earnest chance, he wanted it all to turn out as well as Virgil’s acceptance had, but… it wasn’t that simple. Virgil made an earnest effort to try and work with them, even when he was acting antagonistic. Janus and Remus…? It was complicated. It was both a yes and a no, which was the problem.
How’s he supposed to know when they’re trying to help if they continued to pretend, they didn’t care at every interval? How was he supposed to know what was genuine and what wasn’t? He wasn’t a mind reader, and it wasn’t fair to expect him to be!
Roman let out a groan and pressed his palms into his eyes, taking a minute to just let himself wallow. He was a hypocrite. Here he was trying to pretend everything was fine when it wasn’t hoping someone else would read his mind and see just how run-down he was. He was supposed to be strong for them, for Thomas. Unshakeable.
He was the prince and they deserved nothing less from him.
That didn’t mean he didn’t want. He wanted softness. He wanted someone else to make the first move and remind him it was okay not to be okay for a little while. But that wasn’t true, not really, not for him. He had to be okay to keep everything going. He was the driving force of Thomas’ career and most aspects of his life. He aided in nearly every other side’s work, even recently Virgil’s while finding creative solutions to help Virgil deal better with Thomas’—and Virgil’s—anxious thoughts.
And he was tired.
He missed early morning breakfasts, helping Logan and Patton make enough food for a small banquet to start their day. Often, Virgil would eventually wander in toward the end of the cooking part and join them in the meal, then make up for his lateness by helping with dishes. He missed working with Logan. The logical side barricaded himself in his room more and more recently, rather than working collaboratively at the kitchen table like they used to, with notes, books, flashcards, and beverages of some sort covering every surface available. Sometimes Patton even chastised the pair as their work found its way to the countertops as well.
Lord, he missed Patton. He missed the way the emotional side would knock on his door, just to check on him. He missed the impromptu cuddles and hugs every morning and evening. Patton hadn’t even offered a hug tonight. Instead, he just stared at Roman with that strained look he’s had since after the trail. Like Roman wasn’t good enough.
Maybe he wasn’t.
That was the problem, wasn’t it?
He couldn’t be the prince and the performer, not really. Either he was the example of what everything Thomas wanted to be, or he helped him achieve everything he wanted to do. Those things no longer collided. Honestly? Roman wasn’t sure if they ever did.
The wedding? The callback? Did it really matter in the end? This was one event, one problem that proved that Roman had to make a choice and no matter what it was he would be disappointing someone in the future.
He couldn’t be good enough for everyone.
“That’s not true, you know,” a familiar, suave voice said as gloved hands wrapped around his own, pulling them away from his face.
Another pair of hands found their way to his cheeks, wiping away tears he hadn’t even realized had been building. Janus was surprisingly gentle considering the slightly rough material of the gloves, but Roman still felt himself freezing under the touch. He was supposed to be in bed.
“I… I couldn’t hear you gasping and sniffling from inside my room,” he said, pulling all four of his hands back, tucking the extras away and crossing his arms. Janus looked away from Roman and to the floor, it almost looked as if he were trying to hug himself. “I don’t understand if you’d rather me get someone else though, maybe Virg-”
“Wait.”
Janus froze, but so did Roman. He didn’t know why he said that. He didn’t know why the thought of the snake side leaving in that moment hurt so much.
“You need to unlearn that selfish is a dirty word and for your sake, you need to start practicing a little more selfishness.”
He meant Thomas at the time though… not Roman.
Janus’ eyes suddenly shot up from the floor and he stared hard into Roman’s own, and the prince felt pinned by that stare.
“You’re allowed to be selfish too, you know,” Janus said, taking a step forward towards him. “In fact, you should be. Putting yourself first sometimes doesn’t make you any less admirable Roman.”
“Princes are supposed to be daring and brave and selfless,” Roman recited, swallowing after. The words almost burned as he said them.
“You and I apparently aren’t reading about the same kinds of princes then,” Janus said with a hand on his hip. “When exactly was the last time that you’ve read a fairytale from the source material?”
“I don’t need a reminder of the grimdark. I said ‘supposed to be’ for a reason. That’s the kind of prince I want to be though.”
“And so, you will.”
“I…” Roman’s eyes widened, and his jaw hung open at the statement. As if it were all so simple. “How can you just say that after—”
Roman straightened, pushing off the wall and squaring his shoulders.
“After?” It seemed the snake didn’t know when to take a hint.
“I understand, just another lie right? Thank you for the visit, but the last thing I need from you right now is mockery.”
“That’s not what I’m trying to do here Roman,” Janus said and Roman would have almost thought he looked sad if he could trust anything about the man.
“Go back to bed, pretend you never saw me at all, and we’ll forget this ever happened.”
“Roman—”
“Pretending is what you’re good at right? It should be easy.”
“Roman please—”
“I’m certain I will see you the next time Thomas calls on your aid,” Roman nearly spat as he faced his door. “Until then, goodnight.”
“Roman... I’m sorry.”
“Don’t—” Roman started and flipped back around, ready to skin the snake and make a new pair of boots. He wanted nothing of fake apologies.
He was surprised to see not one, but two yellow gloves at his feet and two hands held up placatingly. One covered in scales and one not.
“I’m sorry. I failed you by trying to get my way while trying to get yours. It was supposed to be about you. Selfishness has its place, but that was the wrong time for it on my part. After the trail, I was hurt. I was trying to help you, that’s what it was all for. I made you the judge because you were the one at odds with yourself. Before, you never would have let Patton shake you so much. I just… I don’t understand what changed.”
“Everything did! The rules for what’s right and what’s wrong. I hardly know what’s allowed and isn’t anymore. I knew you weren’t even back when I thought you should be because you were nice. But you weren’t, not really.”
Roman gave a dry, broken laugh and Janus chanced another step forward.
Roman let him this time.
“Then again, maybe nothing’s changed at all. Maybe I’m just a fool.”
“You’re not a fool Roman. I thought you understood, the teasing, the jokes…me, but you didn’t. I thought you understood how a person can mean something and not at the same time,” Janus said.
Roman watched as a single tear slipped from his snake eye, making the scales cascaded over glimmer even more in the dim. It was a real tear, that was something Roman could always tell the difference of.
“As a performer, I thought you of all people would get it without explanation… but I was wrong.”
A selfless prince couldn’t leave someone in distress, could he?
“You owe me an explanation, a full one. No gloves, no lies, no layers. I want honesty,” Roman said puffing out his chest to give the air of seriousness. It was taking everything in him not to reach out already as he saw another tear escape, this time on the human side.
“Understood,” Janus murmured, looking back to the ground. “I should… let you get back to your rest. Goodnight, Roman.”
Roman surged forward before the man in front of him could escape and wrapped his arms around the smaller frame.
“Wh-what are you doing?”
“Be selfish and just accept it Cobra Kai.”
Janus apparently didn’t need to be told twice as not two, not four, but six arms almost immediately found their way around Roman’s back. Roman placed one hand against his lower back and the other cradling his head.
“I haven’t forgiven you yet,” Roman murmured and he felt the smaller man slump in his grasp, beginning to let go already.
That wouldn’t do.
“However,” Roman said, and the hopeful look Janus turned toward him almost broke his heart. That couldn’t be faked. “I will try to hear you out. It will take some time, but… but I’m willing to work on it if you are.”
Janus didn’t answer, but leaned against Roman’s shoulder before murmuring, “You’ll get another chance Roman. You’re talented. It’s a shame you didn’t go for this one, but you’ll get another.”
Roman just nodded and if he cradled Janus a bit closer at those words, well, that was his business.
“You were right about one thing Lockjaw.”
“Hm?”
“Virgil’s new makeup does make him look like a racoon.”
Janus pulled back from Roman’s grip, not all the way, just enough to look him in the eyes and even under the puffiness and the tearstains, Roman could see a glimmer of mischief as a smirk came over his face.
“I never said that.”

Logicality
- Fluff, based on a True Story
Logince
-Science-Fiction
Analogical
-Angst, based on a True Story
Loceit
-Good ol' Mystery Novels, with Plot Twists and Betrayals
Intrulogical
-Murder-Mystery
Intruality
-(im not rlly sure on this one) An entire story, but from the Villain's POV, because Patton and Remus would work to find the good in a bad guy, and see that theyre not so bad, or why the antagonist is the way that they are(?) this isnt a drama, but i dont rlly ship this that much, so i really cant be sure.
Dukexiety
-Angst, with No Happy Ending and/or Major Character Death
Demus
-Horror, with So Much Gore and Backstabbing(literally and figuratively)
Anxceit
-Angst, with an Open Ending (because i feel like Janus would definitely do that to us)
Moceit
-Fluff, with Light Angst
Moxiety
-Hurt/Comfort
Royality
-Fantasy(a combination of both their optimistic natures), Romance, and So. Much. Fluff
Roceit
-Romance, with some Light Angst, and Lots of Drama
Prinxiety
-Angst, with a Happy Ending, and Romance(duh)
Creativitwins(platonicly,duh)
-just Pure Fantasyland, a WHOLE OTHER UNIVERSE brimming with possibilities, both good and bad
and thats it, hope you like this
for the ships that i dont really ship, id love for your input on what genre or plot is better for those, and would work more appropriately

Do you have any fic recommendations? I really like how you write in this fandom so if you have any of your own favourite fics or authors I'd like to see them!
sorry this too me so long lol, i was hardcore procrastinating, and then i realized that i tend to forget to save a lot of the fics i like so i had to track some stuff down. i tried to narrow down the list, but it still ended up being pretty long, so i put favorite fics under the cut
all links go to ao3!
Favorite Authors:
teacupfulofbrains is definitely among my favorites, bc both her writing style and the way she writes the characters are just so, so good. personal faves include living in the real world (ain’t it fun), lovely, dark, and deep, and her avatar au, the crossroads of our destinies
patentpending is one of those writers who you would not be surprised to hear has something published because she is just that good. i think a lot of people in the fandom know Powerless, but my favorite of hers is her recent mociet divorce-and-remarry fic Bother Me a Little Bit Longer
RandomSlasher has got some really good stuff and their fluff and h/c is always completely on point; they’re probably one of my favorite authors for virgil overall. i particularly like Starved and Snow Day, and they’ve also got a bunch of really great oneshots
peachsneakers has written literally so much fic, mostly short and sweet ficlets, but they’re all so well-written and there really is something for everyone. i’m particularly fond of their series preservation of the self for that good good dark sides angst
delimeful writes a lots of aus, mostly fantasy and/or supernatural, and there’s a lot of cute g/t stuff if you enjoy that. his fic how easy you are to need was one of the first fics i bookmarked for this fandom, and i also especially like his alien au series sit back and watch the world go by
greenninjagal is fantastic, i don’t think there’s a single fic of hers that i’ve read and not enjoyed, and i am in love with the way she writes all the sides (particularly the dark sides, but i’m a bit biased). i particularly love Deja Vu and her recent space au Space and Everything In It
Favorite Fics:
A Game of Vice, in which remus locks roman up in a tower like a stereotypical damsel in distress and everyone else goes to rescue him. i love this fic because a) everyone gets a chance to shine and b) remus is very much the antagonist but he’s still sympathetic? which i love
Self Love is just, nine chapters of emotional catharsis and thomas getting to know his sides better, and i love everything about it. i think character!thomas is criminally underused in a lot of fics, and this fic in particular has one of the best characterizations of character!thomas that i’ve ever read
The Gold of Your Heart is a roceit classic, i think, but if you like roceit and haven’t read this one yet, i would absolutely recommend it because it’s so well written and it’s also really long, which i’ve found is kind of rare in this fandom. my only reservation is that there are parts that you could interpret as being u!patton and u!virgil, but everyone has a reason for acting like they do and everything gets resolved by the end, so i was still able to enjoy it a lot even though u!sides are typically a major turn off for me
chivalry is dead has some of the best roman angst i’ve ever read-- he literally splits into his own sides, and everyone else is trying to get him back together again, and it’s just literally so fantastic. also, the endgame pairing is dlamp, which i am always weak for
That’s Just How Siblings Are is literally 10k of roman and remus-centric whump and h/c, and i am weak for creativitwins anyway but this fic really hits all the right buttons. it also features an interesting take on light vs. dark sides relations, which i really liked
Remy Sanders and a Bunch of Idiots is one that i just read recently, and i’m putting it on here for the fact that it made me care about remy? which is not to say that i don’t like remy, because i do, but when i see him in fics i’m rarely all that invested in him as a character. but this fic, hoooo boy. it’s exactly what the title says, with the added angst of remy trying to take care of all the others while being completely convinced that they hate him, and it’s just so frickin good
Falling Together is everything that i look for in a lamp fic-- it takes that trope of patton and roman and logan being together and they all want virgil to join them and virgil also wants to join them but communication issues and virgil’s low self-worth get in the way, you know, that trope? and it plays it out to absolute perfection
Tyndall Effect is one of the cutest dukeceit fics i have read in my life, just, pure fluff. it’s an urban fantasy au, deceit is cursed, and remus falls in love instantly. i literally couldn’t stop grinning the entire time i was reading
the feelings in my headspace rearranged is a wip, if that’s a deal-breaker, but it is absolutely worth the wait for new chapters. it’s centered on the idea that virgil doesn’t intrinsically have a name, and as such, canon goes differently, starting with accepting anxiety. it’s so emotional and well-written, and i love it so much
like copper and gold is loginceit, or logiroceit, or whatever the ship name is for logan x roman x janus, and it is a 30k word rollercoaster. it’s also the only explicit fic i’m including, and it definitely earns that rating, so if you don’t want smut, skip this one. but i’m putting this one on here because usually, smut holds no appeal for me, and i tend to skip smutty content in fics i otherwise enjoy, but this fic is so well written that i read every word and enjoyed it. even though the smut is such a big part of the premise of the fic, it really feels like the smut isn’t the point so much as the emotions behind it, and overall i really can’t recommend this one enough
aaaaand that’s what i’ve got! i hope something in here appeals!!

Every fic ever
Prinxiety: All high school AUs. Roman is a jock, Virgil is bullied
Logicality: Dads raising the other ships (usually Prinxiety)
Moxiety: Mostly fluff
Logince: the inherent eroticism of rivalries
Analogical: the inherent eroticism of quiet, calming domestic life
Royality: Moxiety levels of fluff but with a bit more crack mixed in
Roceit: Overdramatic theatre references/song fics
Loceit: Logan lets Deceit borrow the brain cells for a bit, as a treat, and ends up agreeing with Deceit
Moceit: Single dads
Anxeit: “Now you’re just somebody that I used to know”
Dukeceit: Fuck the Light Sides, we’ll be our own found family trope!
Intrulogical: Logan is now a Dark Side and probably a mad scientist
Intruality: Patton is either very very innocent or very very not innocent
Dukexiety: Virgil still has the characterization he did at the beginning when he was a chaotic antagonist
Remrom: https://youtu.be/4wX2xBOuzRg
Remile: an AU that needed more ships than three ships so these two got dragged in

Janus for the character ask
Anonymous said to caffeinated-cryptid: Janus Sanders? (For the ask game)
ah yes our favourite snake boy ❤
favorite thing about them: he’s a complicated character! his personality is incredible and i love the suave/dramatic flair that he has, and how silly it can be at times when he’s trying way too hard to keep up the antagonistic persona. in general he exists in a gray area that’s interesting and really fun to explore, also his whole aesthetic is neat!
least favorite thing about them: he has a tendency to poke at people’s sore spots which speaks to how well he’s able to read the other characters, but is still something that should be addressed!
favorite line: oh no is it too much to say all of them? if i had to narrow it down: “who’s she, never heard of her.”, the stairs bit, or “you foolish dummy, i am and always have been patton. you have no morality.” (because what a dork?? what was he trying to accomplish there??)
brOTP: hhhh dukeceit,,, i just love the idea of them having a goofy villain/sidekick dynamic. i can’t wait to see them interact!
OTP: roceit/loceit/roloceit ghjdkdk is it any surprise,,,,
nOTP: anxceit, until they work out their problems. i do love some familial anxceit though!
random headcanon: he keeps up his weird 1920s aesthetic at all times. he straight-up doesn’t own a regular t-shirt. he changes into the same outfit everyday at 7am, to the point where nobody has seen him wearing anything different.
unpopular opinion: i feel like he was more calculated in pof than people think. the fact that he added the skip button during a tense moment, dodged certain questions, and didn’t really answer roman’s concerns has me like 🤔. that’s why i disgree with characterizations that paint him as completely soft and wholesome, because the morally gray portion of his character that’s always been there hasn’t disappeared in one episode!
song i associate with them: now that he canonically has the otgw opening on his playlist, i associate the soundtrack with him. even potatoes and molasses.
favorite picture of them: this! (it’s a gif but still)
[character ask meme]

people have every right to dislike a character but if I see one more person blindly judging one of the Sides for their actions in a recent episode,,,,,, *vibrates* (yes this is specifically about Janus and Roman)
Janus was antagonistic to the other Sides and manipulated Roman throughout both CLBG and SvS. He also cares deeply about Thomas and everything he does is for his sake, even if it sometimes means hurting the other Sides, because he views his job as self-preservation as a priority above anything else. He made a huge effort at the end of the video to give Thomas reason to trust him. Roman made fun of that moment, and Janus has every right to feel hurt by his behaviour.
Roman mocked Janus’ biggest moment of vulnerability and was rightfully put in his place. He is also the literal product of a black-and-white mindset, was reprimanded for siding with Deceit in the past, and is now being rejected again for treating Deceit like the villain everyone else insisted he was in SvS. Janus brushed off his manipulation as a wholesome prank, and Roman has every right to feel hurt by his behaviour.
both Janus and Roman attacked each other’s biggest insecurities, and neither of them were in the right. They both have valid reasons to be angry at each other, and it will take time and communication for them to make amends.
in conclusion blease don’t judge the Sides solely based on their actions in a couple of videos they are flawed!! they are growing!! they have all made mistakes and they are all trying to be better and growing as a person is not a linear path there will be ups and downs!! I am but a mere lover of all the Sides and I just want them to get along and to be happy thank you for coming to my tedtalk
(not discourse, I just wanted to share a summary of what I believe to be both sides - pun intended - of the conflict between Janus and Roman because I love them and also roceit rights, platonic and romantic)

Unpopular Opinion Time - Sanders Sides Edition
Howdy ho it's me! While I come up with more hc for the high school thing, take some unpopular opinions of mine ^^
⚠️WARNING! This is not meant to cause arguments, this is strictly my opinion which whoopdy-doo, might be different from yours. I'll happily discuss with people RESPECTFULLY! Don't get offended, I'm not stating the only opinion.⚠️
None of the sides are soft UwU children. Virgil can stand his ground, Patton has said that he isn't only happy feelings and can be stubborn, Janus is a manipulative bitch when working for his goals, Logan knows when he needs to state facts and bring in logic, the twins have been shown to not get along at times.
Aight, now that I've stated with what will set the majority of people off, let's continue.
My favorites to least favorites:
Janus - I love this man. He knows what he wants, he's blunt, and he is straight to the point. AKA, Everything I am not lol. He is very manipulative though and everything he does is for Thomas' desires.
Virgil - I dont know if I like him or Remus more but they're pretty much equal to me. Virgil is a snarky boi that doesn't take any bs. Plus, I'm a pale emo so I'm biased >:) Virgil definitely can hold grudges for a long time though and that will backfire on him.
Remus - Do I just like antagonists? Yes, I adore the 'villains' but I can say that Remus isnt a villain. Just like the other dark sides, he's blunt but he knows exactly what he us. He takes it in stride that he isn't wanted but he definitely seems to enjoy riling people up.
Roman - You'd think an extremely creative person would rate him higher but nope. Roman knows when he needs to take a step back and apologize. He comes up with adorable nicknames for everyone to show his love. He does show that he's insecure behind his ego from time to time and might have a superiority/inferiority complex.
Logan - Yeah, I'm not a very logical person. Logan is fucking adorable when he's excited about being cool. He can easily see the most efficient route but can get caught up in only being efficient. Show your emotions, child!
Patton - I don't hate Patton, I'm just not too into his character, prob cause I relate to him so much...ANYWAYS! Patton is Dad. He will defend his kiddos til the ends of the Earth. He has threatened to fight people if his kiddos are upset, namely Virgil after self-deprecating comments. He, however, can't go after his own desires. Everything he does, is for someone else's benefit.
Aight, my opinions on ships, sorry if I don't get every single one. I'm just going to do the monogamous ones in no particular order.
Prinxeity - I like this one but its definitely overrated. I can't see them working out as a relationship but I love seeing them as best buds.
Royality - I have a hard time shipping Patton and Janus with anyone as I see them as the parents of the sides. I love familial of this though. I mean, Pat calls Roman kiddo so...
Logince - Ah, classic jock and nerd. Maybe it's because of that trope being used so often but I'm eh on this one. Not my cup of tea.
Roceit - I'm pretty sure these two don't like each other but I think as a couple, they could work out. They just have to climb over each other's desires and egos.
RemRom - If it ain't just as brothers, get off my page. THIS AIN'T ALABAMA, IT'S FLORIDA! (I don't live in Florida)
Analogical - I've always seen them as brothers or cousins so I can't ship this. As best buds tho, fucking love that shit.
Intrulogical - I could see this working out. Logan can balance out Remus' craziness.
Logicality - Yeah, I'm not a fan. I really could care less for this ship. Not much to say, just not a fan.
Loceit - I feel like these two just wouldn't get along in a dating setting. I mean, they're both the mom friend and probably want to run the 'family' differently.
Moxiety - Yea no. Patton calls Virge kiddo all the time and calls him his son. Sorry but I get uncomfortable with this in a dating sense.
Moceit - I have gone on record and said I enjoy this just because they're both the parents. They are complete opposites and opposites can attract. They'll just fight...a lot....
Intruality - They're just two kids running around. I can only see them as friends and familial. Pat's just a bit too innocent...
Demus - Aight, I don't mind this. I just have to get out of my headspace of Jan being the mom of the dark sides. Then again, the thought of Jan and Remus raising baby Virgil and any other kid dark sides is adorable.
Dukexiety - I mean, they're like childhood friends so maybe? Dunno, I see Remus as like the middle brother between Janus and Virgil, the latter being the youngest.
Anxceit - Yeah, Virgil seems to hate him while Janus could care less. I can't help but see Virgil as Janus' little brother and that's what I'd stick with.
Yell at me if I missed any. I just have a hard time viewing the sides in romantic relationships, hence why I read so many AUs so I can enjoy the romance ones.
This one isnt specific to Sanders Sides but I don't like angst. And I mean at all. I will avoid angst whenever possible. I know real relationships aren't sunshine and rainbows everyday but goddamn it let me believe that fictional ones can be!
Aight, this isn't unpopular, I just really like dudes in dresses/skirts and love these guys in dresses/skirts. If girls can wear pants, men can wear dresses and skirts!
Aight, I'm done. I can share more later but I'm tired and need a nap.
-Saren

I Don’t Do Soulmates || A Sanders Sides Soulmate AU
A/N: This is a long one, so most of it is under the cut. Also, be sure to check out my MASTERLIST.
Summary: Roman doesn’t do soulmates, even though he has three. Dalton doesn’t do soulmates because he doesn’t have any.  Despite Roman’s best efforts, though, it feels like he’s destined to meet his soulmates one day. That doesn’t mean he has to like it.
Ships: Roceit, LoganxPattonxVirgil, platonic LAMP
WARNINGS: sympathetic Deceit, mentions of death, mentions of a car accident, food mention, swearing, depression, talk of self harm/suicidal thoughts. Nothing super explicit. Please stay safe!
Roman liked fairy tales. He always had. He loved the stories about the kings and the queens, knights, princesses that needed saving, evil stepmothers, fairy godmothers, dwarves, beasts, soulmates, and especially happy endings. When he was little, the bookshelves in his bedroom were dominated by various copies of the books and CD cases. His walls were covered in drawings of those stories - and sometimes stories of his own.
The day he found out that he was lucky enough to have three soulmates was the best day of his life. The thought that he could be a prince or a knight and protect someone who meant so much to him? That just fueled his creative energy into more. He’d write stories to his soulmates in bright red marker and pen, usually accompanied by illustrations.
Roman never once considered that most of his heroes had a tragic backstory. After all, that was just a story. Just something to make the stories more interesting. His life was fine - perfect even. He had three soulmates, more than anyone else he knew! Patton, who never seemed to use the same color of marker. Logan, who always used dark blue ballpoint pen. Virgil, who seemed to only own black and purple markers.
Even his parents only had each other, just one soulmate each. Unlike some antagonistic fairy tale parents, they were wonderful. They encouraged him in writing his stories - sloppily relayed to his soulmates across his arms and sometimes legs.
As far as fairytales go, Roman was sure he’d gotten the better end of the deal. He didn’t have a curse or a wicked stepmother, he had all the good.
At least… he did.
Roman was nine years old when it happened. It wasn’t anyone's fault, of course. Accidents like that happen all the time. It was January, and it was getting dark as they drove home from the movies on the backroads. No one could have seen the patch of black ice covering the road. No one could have stopped them from sliding, spinning off the road. No one, not even a prince from one of Roman’s stories, could have stopped his parents from dying.
After the crash, stricken with grief and confusion, Roman stopped writing to his soulmates. How was he supposed to protect people he’d never met if he couldn't even keep his own parents alive? He couldn't keep making them promises he’d never keep. So it would be best, he figured, to not. At least for a little while.
A little while turned into eight years.
“Roman, get your lazy ass out of bed!” Roman groaned, rolling out onto the floor. “Now! The bus will be here in five minutes and I am not driving you again!”
“Okay! God, Aunt Rina,” Roman muttered under his breath as he pulled himself standing, glancing with a frown at his mirror. He’d fallen asleep in his clothes again, not wanting to change and see the messages written there.
Not that he didn’t read them. Roman smiled sadly, pulling at his wrist to examine an intricate flower in black and purple. He read all the messages he got from his soulmates. He never replied. They didn’t deserve that. They’d stopped trying to directly contact him years ago, Roman wasn’t even sure if they remembered.
“ROMAN!”
“OKAY!” Roman yelled irritably, grabbing his backpack. One plus side of accidentally sleeping in his clothes and shoes, he could just leave his aunt's house as soon as he woke up. He hurried through the kitchen, avoiding looking at his aunt.
“Hey,” Roman sighed and lifted his head to look at her. She sighed. “Breakfast.” Roman caught the banana she threw at him and turned without replying, hurrying down the street to the bus stop. He stuck the banana in his backpack, halfheartedly planning to eat it at lunch.
His aunt wasn’t a bad person… they just didn’t get along. They never had, and it probably didn’t help that Roman had three soulmates he refused to contact. She had none. So, it was natural she’d be bitter and angry about it.
Roman slipped into the backseat of the bus and pulled up his sleeve, smiling fondly at the poem written in dark blue ink. Even after all these years, they used the same colors. Virgil with his purple and black - eternally edgy. Patton continued to supply different kinds of inks and colors - some complete with glitter. Roman sighed and pulled the sleeve back down, looking up moodily as someone else got on at the next spot.
He didn’t recognize them, they must be new. It was the beginning of a term. Roman sighed, watching as the kid looked around. Then they locked eyes, and for some god-forsaken reason he smiled and walked over, sitting across the aisle from Roman.
“Hey,” Roman grudgingly smiled. No reason to be rude - this guy hadn’t ever done anything to him. “You’re new, right?”
“Uh…” The kid shrugged and rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah. I’m Dalton.”
“Roman.” Roman ran a hand through his hair. “Nice to meet you.”
“I guess.” Dalton sighed and shook his head. “You too.” Roman nodded, looking down as the pink Crayola marker traced the outline of a few hearts on the back of his hand. He shoved it into the pocket of his jacket, planning to check the finished design once he was alone.
“Are you in drama?” Dalton suddenly asked. Roman looked over in surprise, nodding.
“Uh.. yeah. How’d you know?”
“Your jacket…” Dalton shrugged sheepishly. Oh yeah, he was wearing the hoodie from the play last year. Roman smiled. “Is it hard? I kinda wanted to try out, but I’ve never really acted before…”
“You should do it,” Roman said, turning to face him better. “It’s really cool, and I think you’d do well.” Dalton frowned.
“You just met me.”
“Yeah,” Roman shrugged and looked at the floor. “Anyway, where’d you move from?”
“Oh, just a few towns over.” Dalton sighed. “I came to live with my mom and her new husband, and his kids. Long story.”
“Hey,” Roman held up his hands. “You don’t have to tell me, we’ve all got long stories.” Dalton smiled.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” Roman looked at the back of his hand and smiled fondly at it.
Four hearts in a group covered most of it, and Patton seemed to be highlighting them with all different colors. Purple, navy blue, and sky blue… and red. Roman looked away and put his hands back in his pockets. Dalton didn’t seem to have noticed, he had turned to look out the window as they pulled into the parking lot.
“Do you have your schedule?” Roman asked with a sigh, grabbing his bag and standing.
“Uh…” Dalton rifled through his pockets and pulled out a folded paper. Yeah. “Logan just graduated last year, he made me a map…”
“Cool.” Roman tried not to think about the poem on his arm when he heard the name. Logan was a common name. “He’s…”
“My step-brother,” Dalton said as they slowly made their way to the front. “Like I said,”
“Long story.” Roman grinned. “Who do you have for first period?”
“Mr. Corey,” Dalton frowned. “Math. why did I decide to have math in first- nevermind.”
“I have him second,” Roman said. Dalton nodded, then smiled sheepishly.
“Sorry I’ve kinda bugged you all morning, uh… but thanks.”
“It’s nothing,” Roman, threw an arm around the other kids' shoulders. “I’ll show you where Mr. Corey’s room is.”
“You sit alone?” Roman’s head jerked up from where he’d been reading Virgil’s to-do list. He yanked his sleeves down when he saw Dalton. Dalton slid down the wall next to him, pulling out a paper bag.
“Uh, yeah,” Roman shrugged. “Gotta fill the quota for teenage brooding, y’know?”
“But like, you don’t have any friends?” Dalton seemed completely surprised. Roman frowned.
“I mean…”
“You just seemed like the popular kind of jock guy. Theater guy.” He corrected as an afterthought, pulling out a sandwich.
“Well, not everything is obvious.” Roman sighed, then dramatically pouted. “Are you saying you aren’t my friend?”
“Hey-” Dalton frowned. “That’s not fair, dude, come on!” Roman laughed, shaking his head.
“I’m kidding. Geez. You don’t have to sit with me.”
“I want to,” Dalton shrugged and took a bite of his sandwich. Roman watched him for a moment, then remembered his own lunch. The projectile banana from Aunt Rina. He sighed and grudgingly pulled it out, Virgil’s handwriting flashing through his mind.
‘Remember to eat’ he was always writing things like that. ‘Water is actually important.’ Whether it was for himself, or for his soulmates, Roman didn’t know. And he certainly never planned on asking.
“What do you have after lunch?” Roman asked as he peeled the fruit.
“Creative Writing,” Dalton replied. “You?”
“Do you have Bird?” Roman asked, face lighting up. Dalton pulled out the wrinkled paper, transferring Dorito crumbs onto it, then nodded. “Well, that’s at least one class we both have.”
“You write?” Dalton’s face lit up. “That’s cool!”
“I mean…” Roman shrugged and rubbed the spot where Logan’s poem still remained on his skin. “Kindof. I like to, but I don’t know if I’m good.”
“I’m horrible,” Dalton said matter of factly. Roman frowned.
“I refuse to believe that.” he declared.
“I am!” Dalton laughed. “I mean… I might not be horrible. But I’m not good. I’m nothing like…” he trailed off and shook his head. “Logan hates it when I compare myself to him. I can’t help it. Did you know he graduated a year early? He’s the same age as me, but he’s already graduated!”
“...yeah?” Roman tried to ignore thoughts of scribbled conversations between his soulmates. Talking about grades and accelerated programs in that dark blue ink. “Well, you shouldn’t compare yourself.”
“You haven’t read his poems,” Dalton put his sandwich down.
“Do you have any poems of your own?” Roman asked. “I don’t care about Logan, I’ve never met him. I want to read yours.”
“You… you do?” Dalton stared at him for a moment before he sighed. “I mean, what’s the worst that could happen? You could stop talking to me, and we’ve only known each other a day. Wouldn’t be that devastating.”
“What, you don’t find me absolutely charming?” Roman grinned. Dalton rolled his eyes, then pulled out a notebook and flipped forward a few pages.
“Just don’t make fun of me, okay?”
“Would a prince charming ever make fun of someone like you?” Roman joked, accepting it. Dalton chuckled.
“Prince charming, huh?”
Roman didn’t respond, eyes skating over the words on Dalton’s page. He was good, which meant he had really bad self-esteem or that Logan guy was amazing. Maybe as amazing as the one who used blue ink. He quickly banished the thoughts and looked up, grinning.
“This is great! Mr. Bird is going to love you.” He declared, passing it back as the bell rang. Dalton smiled, shoving the notebook into his bag as fast as he could.
“I want to read some of yours eventually,” he declared as they stood up. Roman shook his head.
“I don’t write poetry. I write stories.”
“Well, I wanna read your story.”
“You will, we’re required to peer edit in Birds class anyway,” he explained.
“You know what I mean,” Dalton laughed anyway. “Show me the way, then, Prince Charming.”
Roman ignored the slight flush to his cheeks when Dalton said that and nodded, turning into the English hall. What right did he have to think about this kid when he ignored his own soulmates, anyway?
Roman sighed, staring down at his bare arms. Well, no sleeves. They were in no way bare. Virgil’s morning to-do list was faded, and at the moment being ‘bedazzled’ with glitter gel pens in gold and silver. On the other arm, the poem had grown. Roman knew it had been open-ended, but he hadn’t realized it was just unfinished.
It was beautiful.
Everything they did was beautiful. Their drawings, Logan’s poems, just the way they talked to each other. They did more when they were younger before they exchanged phone numbers and started talking that way. Roman closed his eyes to block out the marks.
He didn’t want to talk to them. He’d just let them down. It was best that he hadn’t let a pen touch his skin in years. It was best that he just… avoided it. He couldn't break a promise he didn’t make.
And then there was Dalton. Roman sighed, running his hands through his hair. Someone who didn’t think Roman was weird, who didn’t know he was a depressed orphan who spent a summer in a mental health facility because he wanted to see his parents again. Dalton didn’t know. And Roman didn’t know about his past, they didn’t know each other's long stories. That was the best part about being friends with Dalton. The past didn’t matter.
Roman opened his eyes again and stared at the hearts on the back of his hand. They were beautiful. What started out as some kind of doodle - probably because he got bored during school as always - had somehow become some kind of 3D masterpiece. It was beautiful.
And there were four hearts. Roman ran a thumb over it, smiling sadly. Patton remembered him. There was no other reason to draw four hearts. God, why did he have to care so much? Roman buried his face in his hands, shaking his head. Why did he have soulmates? How could he have one soulmate? Let alone three! It didn’t make any sense! It had never made any sense.
“Hey, your aunt said you were-” Roman’s head jerked up in surprise. Dalton stood awkwardly in the open door. “Uh… sorry. You left your phone in the drama room, and…”
“Th-thanks.” Roman got up, letting his hair fall over his eyes to try and disguise the tears. “Sorry, you didn’t have to.”
“It’s okay.” Dalton shrugged. “Uh… are you good? Sorry I barged in, your aunt said it’d be okay.”
“It’s fine.” Roman snapped, tossing his phone onto the bed. Dalton frowned. “Sorry, D, you just came over at a bad time.”
“Sorry about that,” Dalton said quickly.
“Don’t be.” Roman grabbed his jacket and pulled it on. “What’s up?”
“Logan’s being an ass.” Dalton declared, leaning against the doorway. Roman snickered, turning to look at him.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. He met one of his soulmates last week and ever since then he’s been super weird. Now the guy’s at our house and… yeah.”
“Oh.” Roman pulled the sleeves of his jacket down to cover his hands. “Sorry about that, buddy.”
“It’s okay.” Damien walked over and sat on the bed next to him. “I don’t care about soulmates, the guy’s just annoying. He keeps trying to hug me.”
“Wow, what a horrible thing,” Roman said sarcastically. Dalton rolled his eyes.
“Okay, whatever.”
“I don’t do soulmates either,” Roman mumbled.
“Well, guess we can complain about Logan together.” Dalton laughed, bumping him with his shoulder. Roman chuckled, nodding.
“Sounds perfect. You can come complain about him, and I can listen and nod slowly and agree.” He declared.
“What, you don’t have anything to complain about?” Dalton asked skeptically. “Like your crazy aunt who eats chocolate covered bugs?” Roman groaned.
“I told her that was disgusting.”
“It’s okay. You can complain about the bugs, I’ll complain about the step-brother. It all evens out.”
“Well, you’re better at math than me so that sounds right.”
Logan and Patton met. Roman didn’t care. At least, he tried not to care. But how could he not care? Why did he have to keep getting their marks if he didn’t want them? Why did they happen to meet at the same time as Dalton’s stupid step-brother and his? Why did he have to be so certain that Dalton’s stupid step-brother was his soulmate?
Roman sighed, staring at the ceiling.
He doesn’t do soulmates. He’d decided that… well, he never necessarily decided that. He just didn’t want to talk to them. He didn’t want to meet them. He didn’t want to disappoint them. It was inevitable that if he contacted them, he’d disappoint them. Besides… he didn’t need a soulmate. He had a friend - for the first time in years. And that was fine.
If only there was a way to get rid of the marks.
He’d spent the past three hours googling it, and he had nothing. According to science, there was no way to get rid of the connection between soulmates. He was stuck with it, and it was stupid.
“How’s that ceiling looking?”
“Ugh, I’m trying to brood Dalton come on.” Roman sat up, frowning. “How long have you-”
“I didn’t want Rita to offer me another weird snack.” Dalton shrugged. “Anyway, what are you brooding about?”
“Nothing.” Roman barely got the words out before a pillow smacked him in the face. “Hey!”
“Cut the crap, you dummy,” Dalton demanded, holding the pillow threateningly. Roman squinted at him. “What the hell is going on with you? You’re lucky enough to have three soulmates and you claim you ‘don't do soulmates’? You’ve been googling all about them for days now.” Roman sat with his mouth partway open, surprised. “I rant to you about my crap. Can't you just… talk for fifteen minutes about whatever it is?”
“...I don’t get it.”
“What’s wrong, dumbass.”
Roman sighed, shaking his head.
“How do you know I have three soulmates?” he asked. Dalton rolled his eyes and pulled Roman’s jacket off.
“Three handwritings,” he said softly. “Different colors. Come on, I’m not an idiot. Logan has two, and… wait.” Roman tried to pull his arm away but Dalton pulled it closer. “What the hell?”
“D, listen, I-”
“This is Logan’s handwriting. And Patton’s. What the hell is going on, Roman?” Dalton shoved Roman’s arm and got up, folding his arms. “My step-brother is one of your soulmates?”
“No.” Roman pulled his jacket back on and stood up. “I mean… yeah. It doesn’t matter, though. I told you before that I don’t do-”
“You don’t do soulmates, I get it!” Dalton yelled. “I don’t either. Know why? I don’t have any soulmates! You have three! I drew on my arms all the time until I was fifteen just trying to get someone to respond! You’re an idiot!”
“Look, I’m sorry,” Roman spread his hands miserably. “I never asked for soulmates… I don’t want to meet them! I haven’t drawn on my skin in years because I don’t care. Okay?” Dalton sighed, burying his face in his hands.
“I just… when you first said you didn’t do soulmates…I thought you were like me. I thought, that maybe, we could be actual friends. But…”
“I don’t have soulmates.” Roman insisted. Dalton looked up at him, eyes narrowed. “Okay? Just… I just have whatever they draw. On my skin. Like soulmates. But they aren’t. Please stop yelling at me.”
Dalton just looked at him, and Roman looked back.
“Logan has been studying soulmates for years.” Dalton finally said. “If there is anyone who can get rid of them, it would be him. I’ll ask.”
“Wait- really?” Roman stared at him. He couldn't tell if the feeling in his chest was sadness or elation. It was just something. “Are you sure?”
“Of course.” Dalton scoffed. “When you get Logan talking, he never stops.”
“Thanks.” Roman wrapped his friend in a hug and Dalton laughed, returning it. “You’re the best.”
“Yeah well, you better believe it. I’m gonna have to listen to all Logan’s crap to find this out for you.” Dalton laughed.
“I owe you,” Roman said enthusiastically. “I will get you five boxes of chocolate covered crickets.”
“If you do that, I’m gonna cut your hair off,” Dalton said, shoving Roman away playfully. Roman frowned but nodded.
“Okay, no crickets. I’ll think of something!”
“But before I go back to my house, where I’ll be forced to hear many many things that are irrelevant to the question I’ll ask, let’s go do something actual people do.”
“Everyone stares at the ceiling all day,” Roman said, waving a hand dismissively. Dalton rolled his eyes.
“Your aunt said she’d bring us snacks in fifteen minutes and if we aren’t gone I’m jumping out the window.” He said, turning to the door.
“Yeah, let’s go.” Roman chuckled. “Bye Aunt Rina!”
“Don’t get hit by a car.”
“So, you’re saying that hypothetically, you want to know how to cut off a soulmate bond?” Logan asked, adjusting his glasses.
“Hypothetically,” Dalton said, smiling winningly. “I figured you’d know, you’re almost an expert.”
“D…” Logan shook his head. “I don’t know. I’ve been trying to figure that out for ages, too.” Dalton frowned.
“You just wanna know everything, cuz you’re an ass.” Logan sighed, rolling his eyes.
“Look, Dalton, I want to know the same thing you do. But scientifically, biologically, even spiritually which is a load of shit but I still looked into it, there should be no reason you stop having a connection with your soulmate.” Logan shook his head. “Why do you care? You don’t have a soulmate!” Dalton scowled, stepping back.
“Oh, that’s nice.”
“Okay, I’m sorry, I-”
“Shut up, you fu-”
“Dalton, I’m sorry!” Logan yelled, grabbing his arm. “I know you’re upset about that, and I get it. But no one can control soulmates. Anomalies happen, and that’s why Ro- and that’s why no one understands it.” Dalton frowned.
“I was asking for a friend,” he said, pulling away from his step-brother’s hands. “Because unlike everyone else on earth, he knows that soulmates are stupid!” Dalton stormed out, slamming the door behind him.
Logan had been about to say a name, and he knew which one. How did he know who Roman was if they’d never met? If Roman hadn’t written to them in years? Dalton hurried down the street toward Roman’s house. He had to figure this out, he had to figure this out before he got in too deep. Before he got his hopes up.
“Hey Dalton,” Rina said when he walked through the door. “I didn’t hear you knock.”
“Where’s Roman?”
“Where do you think?” Dalton ran down the hall and slammed open the door.
“Holy shit-” Roman scrambled to get up from where he sat on the floor. “Dalton?”
“What are you-” Dalton’s eyes flew immediately to Roman’s hands. He scowled. “Roman!”
“What?” Roman asked bitterly, tossing the pocketknife onto his bed.
“What the hell are you doing!” Dalton stormed over and grabbed Roman’s arms, glaring at the handwriting scrawled across it in purple. The sentence severed in several places, and Dalton glared up at his friend.
“Listen, you can’t do this.”
“Go away.”
“No.” Dalton shoved Roman into the desk chair and pulled open a drawer, rifling through it. Of course, Roman had a stash of bandages in there too. “How many times do I have to tell you-you're-”
“An idiot! I know!” Roman snapped. “I’m sorry, okay? I just hate seeing Virgil’s stupid…” he shook his head and Dalton sighed. “Nevermind.”
“Logan knows your fucking name,” Dalton said, pressing the bandages over Roman’s arm.
“What are you talking about?”
“I asked him about the soulmate thing,” Dalton said, walking to the bed to pick up the knife. “And he got really upset. Logan doesn’t get upset. Apparently, he’s researched soulmates for a specific reason that he didn’t specifically tell me because he stopped himself halfway through saying ‘Roman’.”
“Yeah right.”
“So what’s your deal?”
“I just…” Roman shook his head and Dalton raised an eyebrow. “I can never talk to them. Okay?”
“...okay.” Dalton sighed and rubbed his eyes. “Please don’t do it again, Roman.”
“I’m sorry,” Roman muttered, rubbing the bandages. “I just…usually, no one cares.”
“Well I do, so stop being…” Dalton took a deep breath. “Please.”
“Okay, whatever.” Roman pulled on his jacket, concealing both the bandages and the Muriel covering his right arm.
Dalton leaned against his desk, trying to think of something to say that wouldn’t make things worse. He was always making things worse. But now, this time, he really didn’t want to make things worse.
“Why do you care?” Roman asked softly. Dalton sighed and looked up at him, offering a small smile.
“Cuz I’m in love with you, dumbass.”
Somehow, Roman was less bothered by the marks on his skin than ever. He barely noticed them, most of the time. He kept his arms covered - though sometimes their doodles would creep onto his hands, but he didn’t mind. After all, who needed a soulmate when you had a boyfriend who wasn’t fated to love you anyway? It was still difficult because Roman did care about the people writing on his arms. But he didn’t have to be involved with them, right? He could still laugh at the puns Patton might scribble in green marker, he could still use Virgil’s to-do list as his own if he was having trouble. He could still read Logan’s poetry, though it wasn’t as good as Dalton’s.
“We’re out of milk.” Roman sighed, slamming the fridge shut.
“I live a block away, let’s just make cereal there,” Dalton said, standing up with his bowl. Roman snickered.
“Do you have milk? What if we walk all the way there and you guys are out too?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. Dalton rolled his eyes.
“We always have milk cuz I’m the only one that drinks it. My step-dad is lactose intolerant.”
“Let’s go.” Roman grabbed his own bowl and Dalton chuckled. “We’re going out, Aunt Rina!”
“Have fun and don’t murder anyone!” Rina yelled back. Roman rolled his eyes, but couldn't help but grin as he and Dalton walked down the sidewalk. He grabbed Dalton’s hand, ignoring his boyfriend’s protests.
“It’s fine,” he promised. Dalton raised an eyebrow. Roman grinned. “We’re just two soulless guys who happen to be dating, right?” Dalton rolled his eyes.
“Right.”
Dalton led the way up the front steps and into the kitchen, where he put the bowl down and pulled a gallon of milk from the fridge.
“Tada! I was right.”
“I didn’t doubt you,” Roman scoffed. Dalton laughed, pouring his milk before doing Roman’s as well. “Aw, for me? You’re too kind.”
“Dalton?” both looked up when someone poked their head into the room. He was tall and pale, with black hair and glasses. Roman knew it was Logan, he had a purple grocery list on his left arm. “I thought you were going to be at your boyfriend’s house.”
“We were out of milk,” Roman said, lifting his bowl. Logan stared at him, lips pursed.
“Don't worry, geez.” Dalton waved a hand. “We aren’t gonna bug you guys. I told you soulmates are stupid.”
“Good.” Logan adjusted his glasses. “We’ll be in the living room, you can manage to stay out of that room can’t you?”
“Yeah.” Dalton looked at Roman and rolled his eyes, Roman chuckled. Logan sighed and left, shaking his head. “...that’s Logan. I told you he was an ass.”
“I still believe you,” Roman promised. “You’re stuck with me, understand?”
“Thank god.” Roman glanced toward the hallway when the doorbell rang, but Logan answered it almost immediately. Dalton chuckled, elbowing him as they heard a chipper voice start to ramble. Roman wasn’t really listening until he heard him say;
“And this is Virgil!” Roman stiffened, and Dalton gently leaned his head on Roman’s shoulder.
“It’s okay,” he whispered softly. Roman frowned. What exactly was he referring to? He opened his mouth to ask, but then the owner of that chipper voice bounced into the kitchen.
“Hey Dalton!” he said, beaming. “Oh! And Dalton’s handsome friend!”
“He’s my boyfriend,” Dalton said, narrowing his eyes. Patton laughed - it had to be Patton.
“Awe! Hi, I’m Patton!” yep, it was Patton alright. Roman smiled, nodding politely.
“Patton, Dalton promised not to bug us, and-” Logan sighed as he walked into see Patton trying to hug both Roman and Dalton at the same time.
Roman pushed him away, feeling his heart race. This was not a good time to be at Dalton’s house, obviously. Shit, he never wanted to meet his soulmates and now all three of them happened to be here.
“Oh, sorry!” Patton chuckled, stepping back.
“It’s fine,” Roman said in a soft voice. Dalton took his hand, smiling supportively. Roman frowned. What was with him right now?
“Well, I guess you've met Patton.” Logan sighed. “This is Virgil, he’s our... other soulmate.” He walked in, followed by a short teenager with purple hair and a black jacket. Just like Virgil would most definitely look.
“This is my boyfriend,” Dalton said as he squeezed Roman’s hand. “Roman.” Roman’s head swiveled and he narrowed his eyes. Dalton just smiled back sadly. The other three just stood there for a moment.
“...that’s a nice name.” Patton finally said. “I’ve always liked it, anyway.” Roman self consciously rubbed his arm through his jacket sleeve, knowing that a purple grocery list was on his arm just like the other three.
“Yeah, well,” Roman shrugged. What else could he say? He looked back at Dalton, who was obviously trying to convey silently that he should do something. But Roman had no idea what it might be.
“Erm, anyway,” Logan chuckled nervously as Dalton’s eyes flicked between Roman and the group of others. Roman scowled. Dalton could not be serious. They were dating for crying out loud! “Nice to meet you, Roman. Dalton’s boyfriend.”
“Dude.” Dalton hissed. Roman glared at him.
“Let’s just pop in here,” Patton was obviously forcing a smile as they all went to the living room. Roman turned to Dalton.
“What the hell!” he hissed. “Dalton, what was that!”
“Roman, they’re your-” Roman raised an eyebrow and Dalton lowered his voice. “They’re your soulmates. You should at least tell them.”
“No, are you crazy?” Roman shook his head. “I can’t. I told you that a month ago, D!”
“What did they ever do to you?” Dalton demanded. “I just want you to make sure you’re happy, okay! I care about you!”
“Then why did you try that?” Roman demanded.
“Soulmates are real, Roman. They’re a thing. We’re really close, but I know you wish you could be with them! I’ve always known!”
“No, I don’t.” Roman insisted. Dalton frowned, folding his arms.
“Why?”
“They’d be disappointed,” Roman said, repeating the lie he’d told himself for years. Dalton snorted. “They probably don’t even remember me and-”
“You know they do. You saw their faces when I said your name!”
“Well, I don’t care!” Roman yelled, pushing Dalton away from him. Dalton stared at him, eyes filled with hurt. “You don’t get it, Dalton. I can’t risk letting them down!”
“How can you let them down if they don’t even know you?”
“I just will. It’s inevitable.” Roman sighed, burying his face in his hands. Neither of them seemed to realize they’d been shouting, and that it had attracted the others back to the doorway. “Besides, I’m as good as dead to them. I haven’t let ink or paint touch my skin since I was nine years old.”
“Roman-”
“I’m serious! You said it didn’t matter! You said that we didn’t need soulmates, so why are you doing this?”
“ROMAN!” Dalton grabbed his wrist and shook his head, pointing to the doorway. Roman turned, eyes widening. All three of them stood there, looks of shock on their faces. Roman pulled away from Dalton and shoved past them, refusing to make eye contact. He tried to say something to his boyfriend as he left, but it was like his voice stopped working. So he just left, and as soon as he left he started running to get as far away from there as he could.
“Roman!” Dalton went to run after him but Logan grabbed his arm.
“Dalton, what’s going on?”
“Let go, you fucking asshole!” Dalton yelled, karate chopping his stepbrother in the arm.
“Language!” Patton said indignantly. Dalton rolled his eyes.
“Dalton!” Logan tightened his hold and Dalton sighed, glaring at him. “Tell me right now what you know about this.” Dalton closed his eyes, shaking his head.
“I can’t.”
“It’s obvious. Let him go.” Virgil said, pulling Logan away. “Your step-brother is dating our soulmate. Duh.”
“...why? How? What?!” Logan’s voice rose in volume with every word. “Dalton, how long have you known that?”
“Since the universe was created,” Dalton said sarcastically. “Can I go? Roman’s upset.”
“At you.” Logan pointed out. Dalton glared at him.
“Hey, why don’t we all calm down?” Patton said softly, stepping between them. “Dalton? Can you please talk to us?”
“Roman was my friend,” Dalton said softly. “Then he was my boyfriend. I’d seen all Logan’s marks often enough to figure it out. So we talked. Roman…” he sighed, closing his eyes. “Whatever you guys did when you were kids made him hate you or something.”
“What? We didn’t do anything!” Virgil snapped. “He’s the one who just disappeared.”
“I don’t know!” Dalton shoved past Logan, shaking his head. “But he’s my boyfriend, not yours! So I’m going to go find him to make sure he’s okay!” he took off, running to the street. He couldn't see Roman. He had no idea which way Roman went.
“Dalton, please!” Logan said from the porch. Dalton didn’t turn around to flip the bird, then decided Roman wouldn’t want to be found, so he sprinted away from both their houses. He turned left, running up the street. “Dalton!” Dalton kept running, trying to hold back tears. He had to find Roman before he did something stupid. God… what if Roman was going to do something stupid?
Dalton didn’t stop when Logan’s car pulled up next to him. Where would Roman go? He wouldn’t go back to his aunts' house, he hated it there. He might have run to the high school to hang at the theater… maybe?
“Dalton!” the car pulled in front of him and Dalton stumbled to a halt, glaring at the people inside.
“What?”
“Let us help you.” Patton leaned out the window. “We can find him faster driving, okay? We aren’t going to steal your boyfriend.” Dalton narrowed his eyes.
“Yeah right.”
“We just want to make sure Roman’s okay.” Virgil piped up, opening the back door. “Get in, and tell us where he could be.” Why Dalton trusted Virgil more, he wasn’t sure. But he clambered into Logan’s car anyway.
“I don’t really know,” he confessed. “When Roman’s upset we usually just go for a walk. But he’s mad at me this time. I’d check the high school theater.”
“On it.” Logan hit the gas and drove toward the high school. “While we’re driving, can you please explain why Roman hates us?”
“I don’t know. It’s not my business,” Dalton shrugged. “But he doesn’t hate you. He just… doesn’t want to meet you. He doesn’t like the idea of soulmates.”
“Really?” Patton asked sadly. “When we were kids he seemed so excited about us, and then one day he just stopped writing. He used to write stories to us, like fairy tales.”
“I don’t know!” Dalton snapped, glaring at him. “We just need to find him before he…” oh god. Please don’t let Roman try anything.
Roman stared blankly down at his arms, where yellow writing appeared a few minutes ago. At first, he’d thought it was Patton. But it wasn’t. It was one of Dalton’s poems. He must be writing on one of the others. Roman reached up and brushed tears out of his eyes, taking a shuddering breath. He’d been about to cut again - but he couldn't break one of Dalton’s poems. Was that why he was doing this? Classic. Why did Dalton care, anyway? How could he care if he didn’t have to, according to fate?
“Stupid Dalton,” Roman muttered, then felt horrible. Dalton wasn't stupid, he was Roman’s best friend. More than that, his boyfriend. So why did he do what he did? Why did he tell them he was the fourth soulmate? It wasn’t fair. Roman didn’t want this. He didn’t want anything.
“Roman!” Roman’s head jerked up and he stared in surprise as Dalton tumbled out of a car, sprinting across the parking lot. “What are you doing here?”
“...sitting.” Roman sighed and looked around the strip mall.
How did he end up here, of all places? Dalton fell to his knees next to him and grabbed Roman’s arms, inspecting them worriedly. There was nothing but the healing scars from the month before. Roman sighed sadly.
“I’m so sorry.” Dalton suddenly pulled him into a tight hug. Roman’s eyes widened, but he returned it. “I know you didn’t want to meet them, but I thought…. I thought it might make you happy if you just tried. I just want you to be happy.”
“It’s okay.” Roman sighed softly. “I… I don’t mind meeting them. But I still love you… you know?”
“You do?” Dalton sat back and grinned, wiping tears from his cheeks. “Really?”
“Of course! You’re stuck with me.” Roman repeated, then looked over Dalton’s shoulder to where his three soulmates were standing near the car. He lowered his voice. “Do they hate me?”
“No one hates you.” Dalton scoffed, sitting against the wall like he had that first day in the cafeteria. “They’re just worried. Virgil let me write to you, y’know.” Roman looked at his arms, nodding.
“Thanks. I’ve always loved your poems.”
“Do you want to talk to them at all?” Dalton asked softly. Roman scowled.
“I’m not gonna break up with you unless you want me to.” he insisted. “So yeah, I can talk to them. And you don’t have to worry. Alright?”
“Sounds good.” Dalton looked over at the others and nodded. The three of them walked over and sat down, completing a circle on the sidewalk.
“Hi,” Roman said softly, staring at his hands.
“It’s so good to meet you!” Patton said, beaming. Roman smiled.
“You gave us quite a scare,” Logan adjusted his glasses. “Dalton was very upset.”
“Like you weren’t.” Virgil scoffed, elbowing him. “Anyway, Roman. I’m just glad you’re okay. I always wondered what happened to you.”
“Oh, that,” Roman sighed and shook his head. “I didn’t mean to vanish… I just took a break from writing and never… finished the break.”
“That’s alright,” Logan said matter of factly. “Statistically, only sixty percent of soulmates ever meet or actually enter any kind of relationship. Half of those people remain only platonic soulmates.” Roman smiled.
“Well good, cuz I’m taken,” he said, elbowing Dalton. Dalton elbowed him back, harder. “Hey!”
“You started it.” Dalton shrugged. Roman chuckled.
“Anyway, I’m sorry for vanishing. Just got in a funk.”
“Well,” Logan stood and brushed off his pants. “Would you like a ride home? You walked quite far.”
“Sure.” they all stood now, and Dalton took Roman’s hand as they walked to Logan’s car. “Thanks, really.”
“No thanks needed,” Logan waved a hand. “Just don’t hurt Dalton or I will run you over with this instead of giving you a ride.” Roman’s eyes widened.
“Okay, geez.”
“Wow, you care about me?” Dalton laughed as they got in.
“Of course I do.” Logan scoffed. “Just because I am, as you so eloquently put it, ‘an ass’ does not mean I don’t care about you.”
“Good to know,” Dalton muttered, leaning his head on Roman’s shoulder. “Hey, why don’t we go hang out at your house Roman? I bet your aunt has some good bugs to serve as snacks.”
“Oh my god.” Roman glared at him. “You know those are disgusting.”
“I don’t want to know what you’re talking about.” Virgil declared, shaking his head. Dalton laughed, smirking up at Roman. Roman smiled, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. Maybe things would turn out okay after all.

Part 1 | Part 2 (you are here) | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5|
Roman rushed back to the dining room, hoping that the others hadn't left yet. It wasn't likely that any of the others would help him, but he had to at least try. Finding and rescuing Deceit on his own was not going to be an easy task, but he would do it if necessary.
“Roman,” he heard his name called as he re-entered the room. “Where did you rush off to bud? You had us kinda worried there for a sec.”
Patton's words, normally palatable and mostly reassuring, seemed hostile and accusatory. Roman almost flinched a little but managed to catch himself in time. It wouldn't do to have Patton upset and concerned with him.
“Well, Padre, we have a bit of a major problem.” He managed to get those words out without too much unwanted emotional vulnerability bubbling to the surface. “Our lovely little snake friend has been kidnapped by my ever-present antagonist, the Dragon Witch.”
The room was silent for a few minutes too long. The air seemed still and Roman realized he was holding in his breath.
“Well, this is…” Logan adjusted his glasses, a clear sign of his unease. “Unexpected, and quite unfortunate”
“Well?” Roman was reaching his limit with these guys, if they weren't interested in helping couldn't they just come out and say it? He supposed that just because Dee was missing didn't mean that they couldn't still refrain from speaking if they didn't want to share. Roman was never good at not talking, hence why he had spilled all his beans at the table earlier that morning.
“Ro, please just calm down for a sec ok?” Patton's voice was uncharacteristically patronizing and it just made Roman more irritated. “Where did you even find that letter anyways? How are you so sure it's from the Dragon Witch and not Deceit himself?”
Roman inhaled sharply at Patton's accusation. Not only pegging Deceit as the villain once more, and with no evidence too, but also implying that Roman couldn't recognize the mark and handwriting of his own enemy. An enemy that he had technically created, although indirectly.
“If you don't want to help, that's all you had to say, Pat.” Roman fought to control the emotion behind his words. “How about you two? Any chance you will help me save a fellow side?” He doubted it, but asking was what he came here to do so that's what he did.
“I think I'm gonna sit this one out, Deceit isn't someone im interested in helping even if he is in trouble, ” Virgil mumbled his response from the table, somehow even further entrenched in his hoodie than he had been earlier. A flicker of worry for the anxious side crossed Roman's line of thought before he reminded himself that of the two, Deceit was a bit more of a priority right now. Especially considering that Virgil had Patton to help him through this and Deceit had no one. No one but Roman, though it dawned on him that Deceit didn't know that. A sudden sense of urgency compelled him to start rocking back and forth on his heels in anticipation of the rescue.
“Well, Teach. That leaves you.” He felt a bit of hope blossom in his chest as he waited for Logan’s response. Perhaps they would finally agree on something, especially since it seemed Logan was the only one taking this seriously; albeit for slightly different reasons.
“Unfortunately, as much as I agree with you on the severity of this issue, I am unable to aid in the rescue.” Roman sighed at the response, the bit of hope he felt now destroyed by Logan’s words. “Someone must keep an eye on Thomas to make sure he doesn't put himself in danger.”
“Alright, I suppose I can't exactly argue with that.” He looked down, now unsure if he could even do this. I mean, it's not like he hadn't had to rescue his fellow sides from the Dragon Witch before, but those times weren't as serious as this. When Logan had been kidnapped Thomas still felt his influence, it wasn't like now. Now Thomas had no ability to lie and neither did any of the sides.
“Look, Ro, I know you want to help him. But he is the villain. How do you know he isn't working with her? How do you know anything? Why do you care this much about being the hero?” Roman couldn't stop himself from flinching at Patton’s words. He was right, Roman did want to be the hero. Heck, that’s why he created the Dragon Witch in the first place. So he had created a villain he could pretend to fight, to make himself feel heroic. But, that wasn't the only motivation he had this time. No, something else was there too, a feeling in his chest that compelled him to worry and truly care about Deceit.
“I’m sorry Patton, but I have to do this. For all of us.” And with that, he left, on his way to save his damsel in distress.
