Bryce was always described as golden tanned. Hunt was described as golden brown. Most of her characters are described as golden tanned for some reason.

For everyone who acts like Lucien is all soft and docile…need I remind you that in book one, when he thought Rhys was evil and might kill him with half a thought, he STILL talked back, called him a whore, SPAT at him, and threatened him with a sword. My man is so feisty.

Can we talk about how Rhys doesn't like Lucien because of how he treated him Under The Mountain but in previous books he explained how he decided to keep up an appearance of being cruel and evil so that people could hate him? Why was he mad at Lucien for HIS plan working? Make it make sense.

i need you all to understand the reason for my undying hatred for cassian and grudge against sarah j maas is that when baby freshman me went to one of her first ever college parties i got followed around the house by this guy who i told clearly multiple times to leave me alone because i was not interested. it was a terrible and frightening experience. the next day, i think to myself “surely my new book a court of frost and starlight will help me feel better. it’s been all fluff so far.” and i opened it. and what was i greeted with. you guessed it. cassian following nesta after she told him multiple times to leave her alone. chapter 21 of acofas you ruined my week.

I really think that Tamlin in general is a better person than Rhysand. And I could name a million reasons for why I came to that assessment, but I feel like that perhaps one little instance explains it best.
After everything that happened between Tamlin, Rhysand and Feyre, Tamlin could still find it in himself to revive Rhysand and even wish for Feyre to become happy.
We’re talking about the man that killed his mother unprompted and the woman that destroyed his entire court and thereby exposed them to the invasion of Hybern.
Meanwhile, we have Rhysand, who comes to Tamlin's court unprompted, sees this traumatized, beaten person who’s already lost so much, and what does he do? He tells Tamlin to k*ll himself. 😀 Like? Is this really someone we should be rooting for? Telling a depressed person to commit? After said person literally revived you?
I genuinely think that Rhysand would have never revived Tamlin, and I think that’s all you need to know about the two of them. It should tell you who’s the bigger person really.

A court of frost and starlight is (subjectively) the worse book in the sjm world. Especially when it comes to mental illness
The first half of chapter 11 is fucking disgusting. I think i geniunely hate sjm a little after this chapter.
Rhysand is literally kicking a man while hes down. Tamlin is depressed. Hes not taking care of himself or his home and is clearly at rock bottom. His home is empty and as stated at the end of the chapter theres no wards around his manor to protect him
"But as I winnowed away, the dark wind ripping through me, a strange sort of hollowness took root in my stomach. Tamlin didn't have shields around the house. None to prevent anyone from winnowing in, to guard against enemies appearing in his bedroom and slitting his throat. It was almost as if he was waiting for someone to do it."
I can quote the entire chapter to point and say HEY THIS IS FUCKING GROSS WRITING! She worte a clearly depressed and ill man but hey! its okay rhysand said really bad shit to him because we LOVE rhysand in this house! to qoute feyre hes usually the bigger male so hes entitled to a slipup!
except hes not. thats not a slip up thats purposefully trying to trigger a man you know has anger issues so you have an excuse to kill him. That is quite literally what kids used to do to me when i was younger, thats being a fucking bully. Rhysand is not a good person, quite the opposite actually. Rhysand also states that "he had been given everything and squandered it." which is not completely true! (Given tamlins backstory and how he feels about being high lord so *loud incorrect buzzer*) Rhysand is an extremely unreliable narrator. Example from this chapter? Rhysand asks where "his dear friend" lucien is and Tamlin tells him hes hunting and the following happens
“Hunting for our dinner.” “No taste for such things these days?” Tamlin’s eyes remained dull. “He left before I was awake.” Hunting for dinner- because there were no servants here to make food. Or buy it. I couldn’t say I felt bad for him. Only for Lucien, once again stuck with being his crony.
Where did this come from? Tamlin said lucien left before he was awake. He didnt ask him to do that.
Rhysand proceeds to purposefully say stuff to make Tamlin angry so they can fight and is surprised when Tamlin just tells him to leave. Then chapter 23 does nothing to help this. Wow tamlin has completely isolated himself after rhysand fucked him up more. But its fine cause rhysand made him dinner and got people to patrol the border.
It really hurts. I have so many of the same mental health issues as Tamlin. Seeing sjm do nothing with this but add more stigma just sucks. Yes Tamlin fucks up in acomaf (even if i cant fully comprehend that one sjm) but that isn't excuse to do this horrific mental health shit.
I am open to discussion about this more! if we have opposite opinions that okay! if you love this series to death that's great for you! as long as your at least somewhat polite I'm chill with it. If your rude i will be mean on the internet.

Just a friendly reminder that Madja saying “If anyone can sense if somethings amiss, its a mate,” resulted in AZRIEL figuring out whats amiss with Elain. *Hint hint wink wink*
Whilst her “mate” had NO CLUE. That line wasn’t written for no reason.

sarah j maas cannot write.
she created this weird standars in fanatsy literature and in romance that if you're not a sexually active straight white woman you feel like you're back in the 1800 century.
the way than that female characters are treated both by the men, or should i say males? and the fandom is disgusting.
but i kind of get why the fandom treat them like that, she was the one that make them seen like that.having no agency at all.
and she pushes this old and dateted ideology of women that instead of use that as a lent to show how women till now have been seen and live is seen as a stadnard, something that should be idolized and wanted. when it's not.
for her a women can be only stong if she pick up a sword, fight and it's rude, but at the same time are so recessive and submessive to their male mates and ready to be nothing in orther to be with him
becuse of that women then, women who does not fit this mold are seen as less, they are not women.
maybe, her problem is that she doesn't understand women.
not every women has the same dreams as others, but that doesn't mean that are less important.
strenght can be found not only in physicality, but in being gentle and caring, intelligence, wanting to have a family, by blood or not.
for a woman wating to have children shouldn't be seen as dreadful as it seem, there is nothing wrong with that.
but again, her execution of it is really questionable, making you hate soemthing like that
her ideology is that for a woman, the only way to reach an happy ending is: findning a male, marry, have tons and tons of sex till you're pregnant and then becaming a shadow of yourself; becuse once you're pregnant and have a baby, you can't do anything greater anymore. leeaching to her male mate, making him look even greater
happiness doesn't always mean that, being coupled up and with children.
there, this enter a really harmful sterotype.
women who watns to live quiet lives, creating a family.
there are sapphics that don't end up with men, them and other women who doesn't what to have children, cannt have them, so they relay in other ways to create a family.
there are women who don't want to settle down, not wanting to be confined in a relationship, wheather is it out of sexuality or want.
and then aromatic, asexual and demisexual people that i assume she cannot even phantom the exsitence, same goes for non-binary and trans folks.
some, who are confident in themselves, that are sexually active, but not in relation of a relationship, but becasue they want and can do it. that then are not painted as monsters for it.
another thing that she doesn't understand is indipendency and emancipation. all of her female characters are strong, not because they have real strenght because we are told that they are, they never show us this "strenght", they never anything by themselves, wather is it powers or titles, or anything at all; because they're always given to them; usually by a man. so are they actually indipendent?
she only see white and straight, that well, as a fantasy autor is ridiculous.
for sarah, females are only used as a tool to make the males stand out, to make the males the greatest characters. she does not tell stories about the empowerment of women, she tells stories about males though females eyes.
now to the males.
they are the worst male characters ever.
toxic and abusive, but this behaviors are excused and cheered, not frown and seen as what they are.
this males do not posses any flawas, they're perfect. i get that they are faes but at least give them layers to feel like they are more humans, in the sense of tangilbe creatures that you'll really believe to exist, that are three dimensional and not only walking dicks. beautiful walking dicks with six packs.
give me a reason to believe on why they would act that way, why they would say those things, but don't find a way to excuse when they do soemthing wrong, let them be in the wrong and find a way to be redeemed if they need to be it.
let some males be less leaning on the toxinc masculinity, and more in the normal. there is no need to fit in this category to be seen as a men, a real one.
like there are many different ways to be a women there are differnt ways to be a men.
and the whole age gap being centuries? why? i trulty cannot grasp why someone would actually enjoy that. it's so weird, especially given that her characters don't really act like their given age but like horny teenagers, so why make them this old if she cannot understnd how to write immortlity and how someone taht age would act?
but then the dynamics, because she created such big gaps between them are so iffy and weird; and actually disgusting.
then, she really ableist. those things cannot and should not be cured with magic.
create a magic system/a world that value them more, that make them accepted.
the treatment given to pocs and queers is utterly disgusting and unecessary. the pocs all die and the queers are trown there only to get the "diversity" point.
again, everything could be solved, she has the possibility to. if only she did wanted that.
she is a rinomated author, she as the means and the possibility to make her books enjoyable for everyone.
she doesn't know how to write poc? she doen't know how to write queer people? yes, every attempt that she did was disastrous, but again the internet is there for everyone and she could always pay to have beta readers; again she has all the means to do it, the thing is, she doesn't want to.
and her books are put on a pedestol as peak literature, setting a standard. when in fact are actually less than mediocre.
but she could better, if she undertood her strengths and relayed on them.
if she wanted to write fantasy erotica, then she sould have directy went with that and not try to hide that as a fanatsy or romantasy, becuse they are not.
this is full on erotica.
to end all of this long ass thread.
manon was lesbian, and is a crime that she ended with a men. if you love them, then you're a lesbophobe. elide was there, and so were the 13.
chaol was gay, and should have ended up with dorian.
feyre sucks as protagonist, she does not posses a defined personality, changing solely for plot purposes. she doesn't have personal goals nor wants, everything is given her. is extremly annoying becuse extremly entitled, making everything about her; not seeing that other were suffering too, at times directly from her hands too. she was supposed to be pragmatic, showing a different kind of intelligence, but she showed the lack of any type of it. getting excused for things that shouldn't be excused. acting all highty and mighty when she is nothing, she has nothing and know nothing. she's probably one of the worst female characters written, being extremly flimsy and insufrable and annoying.
nesta, didn't deserve to be treated like that, she was wrong, yes, but all of those who pointed their finger at her did so much worse, and she at the end was only harming herself not others. and she was suffering.
elaine too was suffering, but in all of that she stayed strong for herslef and for others. she screamed in silence. she was ready to give an hand but everyone pushed that way. you can reach to someone only if they want to be reached. she could do great things if they only let her. even if in pain and suffering she was ready to help, putting others needs before her own, but you cannot resent her for wanting to keep a tiny part, to be even for a bit selfish.
feyre and rhys sucks at rulers, for her it makes sense, she learned how to read two months ago, she is no position to rule, especially from a title that she doesn't deserve. while for him, well, well.
tamlin didn't deserve the treatment he recived by both everyone and the fandom. he was bad, becuse sjm made him bad. making him out of character. but that's a normal thing for her, so it doesn't matter. if you hate him, you cannot stand him, that you should feel the same about rhys and feyre, especially becuse they were so much worse then he was.
lastly, elain should have actually ended with rhys, he would have changed for her, she would have understood him, but she wouldn't have sit there letting him do things that she didn't approved of. overall they would have been much better, he would helped her coming out of her shell and she would have toned him down. they would have actually bulit a relationship by comuticating, bulding trust and understanding; not relaying solely on flirting and sex, and calling that a relationship. she would have respected the fact that he was tramautized and would have waited for him, being here to listen, not rushing him in physical things. he would have learned to appriacte more tiny things and gestures; she would have learn to ask more that what was given her, what she deserves.
azriel and nesta should have ended respectivly with a man and a woman, someone that could have understood and appriciated them. cassain should have ended alone and ferye should have died in the first book.

Wait... Are there really people who think that Azriel will end up with Gwyn and that Elein will end up with Lucien ?
Tumblr media
But what books did these people read ?
Tumblr media
I love the characters of Lucien and Gwyn. But it's completely ridiculous to think they'll end up with Elain and Azriel.

Sick and tired of Lucien blaming Feyre for Tamlin's behaviour. He was violent before her, he is a dick all by himself, but hey, he's "the scorned male", so it's alright he can't control his own behaviour and he’s taking it out on his only friend left... all Feyre’s fault.

Can we please take a moment to appreciate just how tragic a character Lucien is? And acknowledge how much he deserves his own happy ending? 🥺🥺
Raised in a household where he is hated by all of his brothers and his father.
Forced to watch as his father executes the female he loves and planned to marry. His own brothers restrain him. When he flees, three of them follow him and he’s forced to kill one of his own brothers, while Tamlin kills the other.
He’s attacked by Amarantha after insulting her. She carves out his eye and sends him back to the Spring Court. The injuries are so gruesome they made Tamlin vomit.
Under the mountain he refuses to give up Feyre’s name and Rhysand basically mind tortures him.
He helps Feyre in the first task and his punishment is to be whipped by Tamlin (his best friend). Amarantha slows his healing powers so he can’t even move for days.
During the second trial, Amarantha chains Lucien to the floor and he almost dies again, all while his brothers watch and laugh.
When Tamlin refuses to perform the rite on Calanmai, Lucien goes in his place, despite his hatred for Ianthe. This is borderline SA in my opinion.
He finds out he has a mate only to lose her instantly. Thinks she's being tormented in the NC.
He is used as a pawn in Feyre’s schemes to destroy the Spring Court. This eventually results in him not being able to return to Spring because people think he helped hurt Feyre or was complicit.
Ianthe ties him to a tree and tries to assault him.
Once again his brothers attempt to kill him as he and Feyre try to get to the Night Court.
He is constantly rejected by Elain, probably thinks he will never be loved by her.
At one point Lucien comes back from the Spring Court with a black eye. He is now being physically abused by his former best friend.
After Rhysand taunts Tamlin, Tamlin has all of Lucien’s belongings dumped on the Spring Court border, so now he can’t return there either. He has no home.
HAS MY MAN NOT SUFFERED ENOUGH? 😭😭😭

I'm just going to come out and say it: I don't understand the world building in the ACOTAR series. Isn't it supposed to have a medieval setting? That's how it was in the first book. So why did Feyre make soup FROM A CAN? Why was she wearing a turtleneck and leggings? Why was she using a baby stroller? Those are all relatively modern inventions as far as I'm aware. It also seems like all the other courts and the mortal realm have strictly old fashioned/medieval settings except the Night Court. The Night Court's themes (their buildings, the way they dress, etc) seem futuristic. Except Velaris. It has a very modern atmosphere. So altogether, I've noticed medieval, modern AND futuristic themes in the ACOTAR series. Has anyone else noticed this? I think it's very creative but I don't think it makes much sense. Idk maybe I'm wrong.

Let's talk about my FIRST theory for House of Flame and Shadow that I just thought about this morning while talking with my friend.
Also also, I have not seen this theory out there. I haven't seen many theories at all(on purpose). SO THIS MEANS, if this theory is already out there, I did NOT steal it. It would be nice to know, though, so I can make an edit, stating that I was not the first to come up with it.

《 The Hind knelt before her undying masters and contemplated how it would feel to tear out their throats. 》
- House of Flame and Shadow, first sentence(officially released)
Lidia is a new POV this book! Which got me thinking... who else might be new POVs?
Sadly, I feel it's unlikely our ACOTAR gang will get POVs... But who knows? We might be surprised with just one of them getting it.
If so, if we are graced with a POV from one of our ACOTAR characters, I feel it might be Amren, though. This is because she was the one to understand Bryce's language first. She was also the one to recognize the Star Sword. So, if we are lucky enough where we do get an ACOTAR POV, it will probably be Amren.
Which, okay? I'm not sure how I personally feel about that. She really annoyed me in Silver Flames. After the scene where she was telling Rhys about using Nesta and her swords to become High King, that's when Amren started annoying me. It seemed she cared more about power than politics.
Politically speaking, it's better for Rhys to stay High Lord. He knows this. Of course, he knows this. He's great at politics. But for power? High King is better.
And with this in mind, where it seems Amren cares more about power? Think about how powerful Bryce is. Also, remember the fact that there IS a war brewing amongst the courts of Prythian. The scene mentioned above takes place because Amren and Rhys know about it, AFTER Eris tells them how his father is itching for it. I kind of feel how the war was shoved to the side, though.
This is because we have Koschei. He was there helping Briallyn in Silver Flames. All signs are pointing to Elucien being endgame, and it's also obvious that the next book will be Azriel, given his bonus chapter, and that he will end up with Gwyn. So that leaves the last book being Eluciens' book.
Now, Lucien lives in the Human Lands, with Jurien, and who else? Oh yeah! Vassa!! Who is currently cursed, and on borrowed time with her freedom from Koschei, because the deal Papa Archeron made with him.
Given that Koschei was tied to Briallyn, it's safe to assume he will have something to do with the villain of Azriels' book. And with Lucien being friends with Vassa, and it being the last book, this would be where we face down with him.
But I've made a few posts about that already. This post isn't about that, though.
So, what about the war, that's been foreshadowed, you know, the one Eris mentioned, and the one that led Amren to her idea that Rhys should be High King before it's too late?
When's that plot going to happen?
I honestly feel that it might just happen with Bryce in Prythian?
"Oh, but you can't have one series plot happen in another series! The readers who don't read Crescent City will wonder where that plot went!" To which I respond with... Illyrian Uprising, from Frost and Starlight. Where did it go in Silver Flames?
I know it didn't go to another series, but this wouldn't be the first time someone wondered where a plot from her books went. It even happened in the same series.
Also, sidenote, I've made a few posts mentioning this war and gotten replies saying, "Oh yeah! I completely forgot about the war being foreshadowed!"
Would it be at all a smart move? No. But when you think about it, it would make sense.
Think of how pushy Amren was with the High King business, after learning just how powerful Nesta truly was, if she could feel the power coming off simple weapons she made. Again, this is coming after the information Eris gave them about his father's itching for a war amongst the courts.
Now, enter Bryce Quinlan, or I guess, legally, it's Bryce Danaan(Nope! Nooo DO NOT LIKE THAT!) now? Either way, she's always going to be Bryce Adelaide Quinlan to the family that loves her, and to us.
Anyway, now that Bryce is with us in Prythian, and I've already mentioned that it feels that Amren cares more about power than politics, just remember how powerful Bryce is. How far down she went when making the drop. She even passed her father's depth.
So, of course, when Amren learns this, she will be on Rhys' ear, telling him to make a deal. Help her if she helps them stop the war amongst courts before it happens(not yet knowing how to do that). She will also want to help Bryce learn how to use her powers without someone like Hunt activating her. Just like she wanted to help Nesta.
Also, the fact that it's confirmed by Sarah, that Amren was an Angel(potentially an ArchAngel?), could she be from the world of Crescent City before it became more modernized, with all the technology.
Is being from the same world how she can understand Bryce? If so, she would know how terrifying the Asteri are, and hearing Bryces story, she would want to come up with a way to serve their purpose gaining more power, but ALSO keep Bryce safe from the Asteri for as long as possible.
Once Bryces end of this deal is completed, then Nesta will use the Harp to help get Bryce to wherever it is she needs to go.
Thus ending the hypothetical Amren POV chapters. Though, obviously, we would have Prythian in both Bryce and Amren, so.. yeah.
Tumblr media
ALSO ALSO,
I'd like to think Nesta would tag along with Bryce, after learning that she needs to go to Hel, then back to Lunathian. This way, Bryce wouldn't be stranded again, in case she couldn't activate the horn.
Bonus points if, by using the Harp, they drop into Terresen, literally right in front of the royal family, and Aelins just there like
Tumblr media
But we know she will, because she's Aelin Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius, the Fire Breathing Bitch Queen. And if her kingdom or friends are in danger, then I almost feel sorry for the ones putting them in danger.
