For the fic writer ask game...
22, 45, 74
22. Are there certain types of writing you won’t do? (style, pov, genre, tropes, etc)
I don't think you'll ever see me writing a really dark fic, with one or more of the main characters not quite nice. I wrote a lot about murder and serial killers (and have in fact studied the psychology of both in the past) back in my X-File days and could probably do that again, but my characters will always be the good guys. I'm not a fan of 'anti-heroes' or shades of grey in my main characters. Real life has too much of that already. My heroes will always be on the 'light side.'
45. Do you want to break your readers‘ heart or make them laugh?
Both! LOL But, I am well aware I'm much better at breaking their hearts. But I always promise happy endings, so the break is temporary!
74. You’ve posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you’d written it?
It's Damerey. LOL I'm not sure, actually. Maybe that already mentioned angst? I do have a simple writing style that someone who is very familiar with my stuff might recognize. I actually did write an anon story last year for the Han and Leia Holiday Exchange and it was heavy-duty smut, but I think it also had my usual 'feels,' too. The smut came from the suggestions of my giftee, but since I don't know if she ever even read it (never kudoed or commented), it remains a unique edition to my collection; I don't regret it, but I sometimes wonder why I put so much effort into it.

Thank you so much for the asks!

“THE POE COMICS ARE DEBUNKING DAMEREY LOL!!!!”
1. I mean, they really aren’t, but okay.
2. I’m so tired of this fandom acting like the only “valid” ships are the ones that are canon. Just let people ship whatever they want and have fun.

Some friendly reminders about Poe and Rey that they:
1. have an age gap of 13 years
2. that Pablo Hidago has said that them meeting in TFA novelisation is to an effect: not canon (the inference was that novelisation is canon until over-ruled by anything in the films — as seen when Rey and Poe meet for the first time in TLJ film)
3. That means that they have literally just met (not shared any screen time, nothing, no connection)
4. Poe will never truly be Rey’s equal and understand and accept her fully and her connection with the Force. They’ll make great friends, sure because friendship doesn’t necessarily need a connection and understanding that deep, but nothing else.
5. Any romance for Rey would be an important planned out plot line for the series that would be worked to up due to her extreme intimacy and trust issues, so given the fact that they have just met and that we know that Poe was supposed to die in The Force Awakens up until just before production started — this rules him out
6. Also, he’s not the good lil’ resistance fighter everyone wants him to be. He has defied Leia and Holdo (his superior)’s orders through TFA and TLJ. But whatever.
Of course Damerey is not an unhealthy ship as much as I don’t understand it, however; so ship and let ship just know that I do not believe in Poe and Rey or that they will be canon because of above. Good friends? Collegues? Absolutely! But not a canon ship.

Favourites: SW sequel trilogy edition :)
This one made me think a little!
my favorite female character - Rose Tico. I know I’m probably meant to say Rey, but I never felt all that attached to her.
my favorite male character - Probably Kylo/Ben - he was the most interesting.
my favorite book/season/etc - Favourite movie was The Last Jedi
my favorite episode (if its a tv show) - N/A
my favorite cast member - Joonas Suotamo - he just seems like the sweetest guy!
my favorite ship - Okay, this one is tough because I don’t really feel strongly about any of them, but...I guess Damerey or Reylo.
a character I’d die defending - Rose Tico!
a character I just can’t sympathize with - Phasma...she was just...meh.
a character I grew to love - To be honest, the characters I like I liked since the beginning, so none!
my anti otp - Han/Rey or Luke/Rey. Each to their own, but those are weird to me!

Under other circumstances I'd believe they were just trying to start trouble too, but after being in the Reylo fandom since Jan 2016... Unfortunately they probably 100% believe it. I mean they've been claiming Reylo shippers are literal Nazi's, abuse apologists, racists, paedophiles and delusional. I have around 900 tumblrs blocked and I still find hate in the tag. The current wave of Damerey hate shouldn't last to long though, they get more attention from the big ships.
I’m absolutely certain most of them 100% believe it too. I mean, propaganda is one of the most dangerous weapons out there for a reason, and buying into your own propaganda is an actual thing. Human mind is funny like that, which is why echo chambers are extra dangerous.
I mean… I’m not innocent of anti-reylo sentiments myself. I don’t like the ship. It creeps me out and pisses me off to the point of being legitimately borderline triggering for me. And frankly, the shipdom hasn’t really done much to endear themselves to me either – I have, unfortunately, seen evidence of abuse and Nazi apologia, racism and what seem like honest-to-god delusions. It’s just the type of ship to attract that kind of elements, I guess. It’s not the first one and neither will it be the last. And since it is a big, popular ship the crazies are going to be extra apparent, too.
I do try my best not to generalize, though. Painting any demographic with a wide brush has never sat well with me, and you can already see the effects of antagonizing and hounding shippers that might have otherwise just continued to mind their own business peacefully: they’ve become radicalized. Fandom really is not all that different from politics or religion in that sense. *sigh*
I have to say I don’t believe the anti-damerey fad is going to go away anytime soon, though. People across the fandom are starting to see it as a legitimate threat, so to speak, whether it actually is one or not. …God, it feels ridiculous to even be using terms like “threat” when talking about something so fundamentally frivolous as shipping, but here we are I guess. *a deeper sigh*So if anything, I suspect they’re going to increase their efforts to demonize and intimidate damerey shippers. Oh well, they’re welcome to try in my case at least. See if I care.

K I just saw the post from a reylo calling out damerey shippers for stories where Finn is a rapist, murder, etc. They don’t exist. Finn is usually one or both of their best friends, Rey’s foster brother or something along those lines Guess they got tired of nailing sw characters to make their ship okay and make Benny boy tragic and are going for the damereys. Probably because those stories usually have Kylo as the villain. Sorry, just needed to rant. Sincerely a damerey/fellow anti.
i still don’t like damerey for a variety of reasons and i wouldn’t be surprised if there were fics our there like anon said, it still felt like the reylo anon was just trying to find a way out of criticism by saying “but other people do bad things too!” as if that absolves reylos of anything lol

I'm a Finnrey shipper who's also a multishipper (mainly Damerey, as I believe Reylo are actually cousins but I also like to explore like Rey/Phasma) and while I've never recieved any actual hate yet, I have seen SOO much of it in the Damerey tag it honestly makes me ASHAMED to ship Finnrey. CAN'T WE ALL JUST FUCKING AGREE TO DISAGREE?!
Dang I’m sorry anon, sadly antis  like to force their disagreement down other people throats especially over petty stuff. I highly doubt a small ship like damerey is literally end of the world for them. I guess since it a small ship it’s easy target. Knowing antis they see anything as a threat to finnrey which is stupid jc it aint that deep…
unfortunately I haven’t seen any since most finnrey(antis) shippers have me block. I suggest blocking them so you don’t see it in the tag anymore thus enjoying the tag. I also suggest just following finnrey blogs that mutliship or very least not anti damerey if that helps

jjfantasy replied to your post: i've never seen it therefore it has never...
like… claiming a damerey is racist by proxy whitewashes Oscar… <does not compute>…
Some people will always enjoy putting their morality higher and trying to make themselves better with it. I mean there are serious issues that the world needs to deal with - shipping preferences is not one of those.*
Essentially. I’m not saying people don’t have right or even cause to be concerned. Representation is extremely important and the world, fandom very much included, is full of grossness and prejudices.
But... Yeah. Shipping is always highly subjective and trying to claim some kind of objective moral high ground is always a dodgy and disingenuous move or at the very least self-righteous and naive one. And I mean... We’ve probably all been there at some point of our fandom experience. It happens. The important thing is to grow and learn and accept that the world does not operate in strict terms of black and white (in the abstract, not racial sense though I guess either applies).
I mean... I suppose there are some vague and theoretical grounds to say damerey is anti-black. Only conditional ones, though: the claim relies on the presumption that everyone who ships damerey only or even primarily ships it because they don’t want to ship Rey with a black guy due to racial prejudices. Or, conversely, that shipping a character who could also be shipped with a black character with someone who is not black is in itself fundamentally and automatically an act of racial discrimination. And those are some extremely flimsy arguments that rely heavily on exaggeration, presumptions, and generalization.
I understand that the subject is extremely sensitive and personal one to many and that it is, therefore, likely to cause strong emotional stances and reactions. And when one feels strongly about something, it’s very easy to believe they are objectively in the right even if the issue is something that cannot really be described in terms of “right” or “wrong”. It’s a very, very human thing. It’s when someone’s personal feelings and experiences start to get pushed on others as the objective, righteous truth is when things usually get dangerous. Even when they stem from the purest of intentions, so to speak. *sigh*
And then there are the ones who latch onto a (perceived) cause because they want to belong and be accepted and feel good about themselves. Also dangerous when one does it blindly. Fandoms really are a microcosm of society that way.
