shitty things damon did in season 1:

part two, episodes 12-14

- was a willing accomplice to murder while he was still human in the 1800s, not to mention the fact he knowingly let katherine take advantage of stefan and didn’t try to stop it

- deliberately made elena uncomfortable by invading her space and when she asked him to stop instead of agreeing he acted like he didn’t know what she was talking about

- first threatened to kill elena and then threatened to turn her into a vampire

- told stefan “i hope elena dies” when she was kidnapped. how’s that for a future love interest?

- threatened bonnie’s grandma

shitty things damon did in season 1:

part one, episodes 1-11

( i wouldn’t be making this post if damon was only meant to be a villain, but the fact they try to sell him as a romantic lead really grosses me out )

-killed 2 innocent couples

-attacked vicki, kidnapped her, threatened to throw her off a roof, mind controlled her and blamed it on stefan, attacked her again , kidnapped her, turned her into a vampire because he was bored

-fed on caroline without her permission countless times, threw her on the bed and attacked her, mind controlled her to think they were in a normal relationship, called her annoying, controlled what she wore, admitted to her face that he’d kill her when she stopped being useful, tried to kill her twice, called her “stupid, shallow, and useless” when she couldn’t get the necklace for him

-made disgusting comments about elena (that he’ll come in at night and do whatever he wants to do to her “because that’s what’s normal to me”), influenced her mind to have an unwanted sex dream about him, tried to force her to kiss him, threatened to eat her, snuck into her room to watch her sleep, took her to georgia without her permission while she was asleep aka kidnapping, threatened to mind control her

-killed mr. tanner because elena rejected him

-made stefan have a nightmare that elena was killed, stabbed him

-killed zach

-killed a random guy and left the traumatized girlfriend to be a witness

-killed lexi

-attacked bonnie and tried to rip her throat out

-killed bree

my cousin claims that stelena died (for many fans) when stefan almost drove her off the bridge in season 3

well that was bad and i’m too tired to argue it BUT…

delena died when damon killed jeremy without knowledge of his gilbert ring

that was fucking RUTHLESS and EVIL

right in front of elena!!!

what a monster

Hypocrisy is a real pet peeve for me. And it’s come to my attention that the TVD fandom has some issues with this.

Here are a few things I’ve noticed:

1. People saying Damon raped Caroline (and personally I believe he did) but still shipping Steferine when Katherine did the same things to Stefan that Damon did to Caroline (compelling away fear and continuing to have sex despite the obvious disgust and fear both Caroline and Stefan felt)

2. People saying Delena is abusive and toxic, because Damon killed Jeremy (this is Damon we’re talking about so the list goes on) but shipping Klaroline. Like Klaus didn’t try to have Caroline killed at least three times (yes, I’m counting the sacrifice!), not to mention everything else he did.

3. People saying the age difference between Damon and Elena is creepy but the age difference between Stefan (I think he’s only 8 years younger than Damon) and Elena is not. And don’t get me started on Klaroline! Just because Caroline is a vampire doesn’t mean she’s not 17/18 years old when she catches the eye of a 1000 year old original.

4. People saying Elena is a bad friend to Bonnie when Caroline also didn’t notice her absence.

4.1. People saying Caroline is so much better than Elena when they’re actually pretty similar. But that would be enough for another post. Or two.

5. People saying they like Caroline but love to ship her with who is the worst person in the entire tvd universe and her and her friends tormenter/abuser/killer a.k.a. Klaus motherkilling Mikaelson.

6. Having Caroline demonize Damon (she has every reason to do so!) but also having her see the “good” in someone like Klaus, who is infinitely worse and compeletely irredeemable.

7. People saying Damon is a bad person/ a killer vampire but saying Stefan is so much better because he kills people because he just can’t control his hunger. He is still killing people and the fact that he feels somewhat bad about it doesn’t (or shouldn’t) make it okay. And both are bad for Elena, each in their own way.

Pretty much all I can come up with so far. If there’s more or there’s something you don’t agree with, feel free to let me know :)

I still want to write male!Elena. I still want to delete everything regarding D*lena and its disgustinginsulting writing that erased and removed actualcharacter development of everyone to simply focus on one fucking stupid bullshit of abusive meat like Damon.

Julie Plec, if you make Hosie canon and endgame, I will slowly start to forgive you for the following things, I did not like that happened anyways.

  • Not making Klaroline endgame
  • Not making Stelena endgame
  • Not letting Bonnie have a happy ending
  • Killing the following characters: Stefan, Katherine, Klaus, Kai, Elijah, Hayley, Josh, Jo, Jenna, Enzo, Rose, and Lexi
  • Making Kolvina happen (sorry not sorry)
  • Not letting Hope be happy by killing off both of her parents
  • Not making Kennett, Bamon, Bonkai, or any other Bonnie ships canon.
  • For making Handon and Jandon happen
  • And plenty more…

the fact that stefan could ALWAYS tell within seconds that it was katherine pretending to be elena…. but damon REALLY thought that elena kissed him back and he never considered it was katherine until later really tells you something. and personally, that’s all i needed to know to never ship delena.

you know what if b.ellarke is endgame, that’s fine. it’ll be a poorly written thrown together endgame like stydi.a or d.elena

on the bright side, b.ellarke will join this lovely group of photos i like to call Shitty Ship Thrown Together In The Final Moments To Please Some Fangirls On The Internet

image

the only difference is bob and eliza will actually be trying to portray a good ending whereas ian and dylan have completely given up trying to sell their ships 😂😂😂

rating tvd ships

Stelena - 10/10

amazing, the first ship I loved in TVD and they are literal soulmates

Delena- 6/10

not my favorite, i feel like theyre toxic and too dependent on each other. they were cute in s3 and 6 tho

Klaroline- 3/10

unpopular opinion, I know but I’m very indifferent to Klaroline. I couldn’t care less about them, but some of their scenes were cute

Steroline- 6/10

i don’t think they are right for each other! stefan doesn’t treat her good at all and I feel bad for caroline in this ship

Bamon - 8/10

they were cute and i wish we could have got them in the show. not 10/10 because damon needs to treat bonnie better

Bonkai- 5/10

another ship im indifferent to, kai is amazing and I love him and they def. have chemistry but i just don’t ship

Steferine- -10000/10

horrible ship, they have chemistry tho I’ll give them that

Forwood- 10/10

another one of my OTPs, they are SOULMATES!!

Jolaric (not sure of their ship name but it’s jo and alaric)- 10/10

this ship isn’t talked about a lot but they are fun to watch and very cute

Bonnie & Jeremy- 8/10

super cute! I enjoyed their relationship

The TVD Universe is full of exceptionally terrible parents. How can the adults go through weeks or months at the end not knowing what their kids are up to. I mean seriously.

I mean if I was late just once when I was a teenager my mom was ready to call the FBI.

I guess it’s a good thing Elena and Damon aren’t on Legacies. they get to miss out on the perfect opportunity for Julie Plec to turn them into terrible parents just like they did to Ric

They did a TERRIBLE job in showcasing that Elena ‘just couldn’t shake’ Damon and what’s hilarious is that a relationship that showed the ‘just can’t shake you’ dynamic well but in a way that’s underrated is Dan and Blair because first you have the progression, it starts like this

image
image

and then it gets to this

image
image

and then it becomes

image

and then it moves to

image
image

and it keeps happening despite the fact that they don’t want to want to spend time together

image
image
image
image
image
image
image
image
image
image
image
image
image
image

and in the same episode when they’re trying to distance themselves from each other, we get

image

and we see the impulse to cut contact and the inability to actually do so

image
image
image
image
image
image

which then becomes

image
image
image
image
image
image

and before they know it it becomes

image
image

and when Dan says this

image
image
image
image

it makes sense because I saw it. When Blair says this

image
image
image
image

same thing.

Like this is ACTUALLY how you do a dynamic like that, not have a guy show up in your bedroom over and over again before he wears you down and you just don’t ask him to leave anymore.

aaaaaAAAAAHHHHHH anon I think I just developed a permanent eye twitch from that take

okay TO BE FAIR to the original sentiment: I mean, sure, okay, I gUESS that could be technically correct depending on what exactly you think delena was trying to be. the mysterious, sexy, pull-of-the-darkness, I’m-terrible-for-you-but-we-just-can’t-STOP-loving-each-other thing that s5 insisted delena was?  yeah, absolutely, klaroline does that waaaay better – and I’m not just being glib, klaroline genuinely pulls that off in a way that delena never quite did, because that’s not them.  that was a brief detour in delena’s story, which is much more a redemptive enemies-to-friends-to-lovers with a wholesome, domestic ending.  klaroline never fully sticks that landing – Caroline never brings about, or even strongly contributes to, Klaus’s redemption; they never live happily ever after in a traditional sense.

I think comparing the two ships as if the writers wanted them to be note for note the same misses the point of where klaroline actually fits in to the larger scheme of the tvdverse. their love story does help us to see delena more clearly, but not because they’re the same.  because they’re different!  the way I see it, with klaroline, I think they’re introducing a third kind of Vampire Romance Trajectory (I know that’s a stupid name, but I couldn’t think of anything else, bear with me)

so first we have the Stelena Trajectory, with Stefan and Elena as the paradigm, obviously, but also including to some extent Caroline and Matt. Stefan and Caroline draw their human significant others into a world of wonder and power and magic.  that love shakes Elena and Matt out of despair and monotony.  and then Elena and Matt both make a fundamental decision to stay in the human world: Elena doesn’t want to be a vampire.  Matt can’t be with Caroline when her world is so different from his. the relationship ends, and they go their separate ways.  as I never tire of reminding everyone, this is basically the kind of ending that Plec and Williamson planned for the show. at root it’s a very high school kind of story: you meet someone special who shows you a new way of living, and they help you get through a difficult time – and then you grow up and leave them behind.

then, we have the Klaroline Trajectory, which also includes Hayley and Elijah, and to some extent Stefan and Katherine.  this is a much more stereotypical modern vampire love story, because (at least by the end of the story) they’re both vampires. Klaus comes to Caroline on her deathbed, and tells her, “celebrate the fact that you’re no longer bound by trivial human conventions, you’re free,” and she agrees and lets him save her.  in their story, when there’s an emphasis on “admit what I want”, it’s about that: about not having to follow the rules anymore, about being able to travel and see great sights and give opulent gifts, because nobody can stop you.  the actual endgame for klaroline notwithstanding, the ending that I think their fans imagined and wanted for them was both Klaus and Caroline, still very much vampires, to be ruling some corner of the world as rebel king and queen.  they were never going to have a white picket fence.  it’s a story about love making you greater and more powerful than your peers, making you transcend. *cough*Twilight*cough*

and finally, the Delena Trajectory.  if I had to narrow it down – and that’s hard, because their story is about so much – I’d say that their trajectory is about two things: redemption and coming of age. Elena draws Damon toward humanity and goodness, and Damon draws Elena toward adulthood.  so there is a very strong emphasis on desire – but not just in the sense that these are two characters who are constantly attracted to each other!  over the course of the series, both of them come to terms with what exactly it is they want in the other person.  Damon discovers that he doesn’t want to possess Elena or use Elena, he wants to protect and love her, to sacrifice and change for her.  Elena doesn’t want another high school fling – she wants a partner, somebody who won’t just distract her from the tragedy of her life but will help her bear it, someone who will form a new family with her, a husband.  vampire stories are all about desire – and the Delena Trajectory ultimately says that if we go to the heart of our desires for other people, we’ll find that what we most truly, deeply want is to freely give ourselves in love.  so we started with a vampire and a human – and even took a detour into a vampire and a vampire – but we end with the heightened intensity of vampirism giving way to the greater connectedness of humanity. it’s only possible because Damon really changes, and because Elena rejects the temptation of eternal youth.

now I’ll be glib: klaroline could never.
