Just remembered this as you had your new post - what is the political system of Olympus? Cause we have Zeus as King, Apollo as Prince (and temporary King), but in your post he was lobbying for Presidency? What is this political system? A monarcy? A democracy? What was Apollo going to be President of????
The political system in LO can simply be defined as "whatever Rachel needs it to be to write herself out of the corner she wrote herself into" 💀😆
yes i'm rooting for m*leven breakup because byler is neat but mostly? i'm rooting for m*leven breakup for the sake of el and mike.
to me, their romance was always a puppy love born out of a combination of social pressures, naïve curiosity, and a lack of true understanding regarding intimacy and romantic love and what it really is. it was real in that they do truly, deeply care about each other and they are close friends, maybe even shared an attraction, but a maturing romance is so much more than that. they've grown up and out of being boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's okay! i think television/film needs to show more often that most of us don't have definite "soulmates" or first childhood loves that we spend our whole lives with. it doesn't mean these relationships meant nothing and didn't impact us, it just means they've run their course and that something else is in the cards, and this is part of life!
i've always felt el was at her best and most confident self when broken up with mike, discovering who she was and what she liked alongside another girl her age instead of just relying on mike for mentorship on how to live in the real world. she deserves more of an opportunity to find herself, her autonomy, and her independence, and to love who she is, and she's made it clear she's felt insecure in the relationship with mike because she isn't being loved and understood the way she wants, needs, and deserves from someone who is her partner.
also, it's okay if mike doesn't love her in "the way he should". he is not obligated to love her romantically and stay in a relationship with her just because she's a girl, because she "needed someone", or because he cares about her a lot. he shouldn't be pressured into a romance if it's not truly coming from his heart. he deserves freedom to find out and honour who he is, too, instead of just staying in his non-functional first relationship — one he got into as a child, essentially — and defining himself that way because it's what's expected when a boy and a girl are close. he loves her in some way, yes, but it's okay if he doesn't feel comfortable or secure being her boyfriend anymore, for whatever reason that is. he's felt insecure too, and that's valid and it matters.
they are their own people and are steadily growing and changing every day. they need time to figure out who those people are, and it's become clear (at least in my opinion) that those people aren't meant to be a couple at this stage.
they deserve freedom. they deserve to grow up and be authentic to themselves and not feel like they need to lie for the sake of a relationship. they deserve to move on from this version of their relationship that isn't making them happy and rekindle the best part of their bond: their strong, beautiful friendship. they don't have to be a couple if it doesn't make them stronger and better and happier people.
i think it would be healthy and wonderful for a show, especially one consumed frequently by young adults, to show a relationship starting, progressing, and ending on good terms in this way. sometimes things don't work out, and that is okay.
As I continue to spend more time in this fandom, I am grateful that the producers have chosen to deviate from its source material. F&B historians take a morbid pleasure in scrutinizing a woman's worth - a discourse that unfortunately continues in these social spaces.
The way some y’all expect Rhaenyra or Alicent to just “forgo” their rank, title or ambition is quite honestly bizarre. Both women are rightfully worried about their children.. and in the end, both lost! I hate how this entire discourse around F&B is framed as pro-Rhaenyra when it is anything but that. F&B is pro-Daemon or any man who sided with Team Black - but it is objectively anti-Rhaenyra. Everyone talks about her line winning but at what cost? Her descendants exclusively blame her for the extinction of their dragons - and not a single descendant carried her name thereafter. Her surviving lineage brands her as a traitor and that same line went extinct mainly because of the Dance.
In contrast, hotd gives her a noble motive (of Aegon’s dream) along with her own succession battle for the crown in a series that is meant as a critique against misogyny and absolute monarchy. The entire point of the Dance is how a once great House eroded itself to the ground and yet these stans online will factionalise themselves into arguing who won. Everyone lost, period! Her line survived and yet she is dishonoured by them. Of the last 3 surviving Targaryens, one would prefer to be known as the northern bastard over his Targaryen name, and the other would likely identify himself with the Martell Legacy. So what legacy or lineage are you exactly talking about? The show intentionally puts focus on Corlys’ line about how names matter more than blood.. and yet y’all squabble over whose genetic lineage lived to ride this House into infamy in Westeros.
i have a lot of bones to pick this chapter and i will get to that but i'm still really pressed by how rachel depicts kronos apparently grieving having to kill hera in her vision
rachel does this really gross thing where at some point in the narrative, she'll have the male abuser depict some kind of sadness in regards to his female victim, but it is not remorse. it really reads like whitewashing the abuse itself because "can't you see how upset the abuser is that he has to do this :("
apollo got that really disgusting pov chapter talking about his perspective on persephone after raping her and that was bad enough, but then you also see kronos and his relationship with hera being sanitized or even shipped, when hera said verbatim that he abused her and she did not want to sleep with him, she had hoped she could just charm him. the narrative explicitly points out that kronos is a chronic abuser - he kills or severely injures rhea in a fit of rage after using all her powers, he frequently drives away any nymph or consort who approaches him, and he spends who knows how long mentally torturing hera.
there's another essay tucked into that but i just find it so fucking egregious that rachel wants to portray kronos as being upset he has to kill hera because of his own feelings for her, when the fact of the matter is he is choosing to kill her, just like he chose to kill rhea, and swallow his sons, and tear hera in half. depicting an abuser (a serial abuser, in this case) as being upset over an action he's choosing to do for his own benefit is ... a choice, and a disturbing one. why are we centering the abuser in a sympathetic light when he is still ultimately abusing someone???
ahhh thank you so much for the tag Nico!! @dieonysian 🫶🏻🫶🏻

he only becomes a fuckboy if he gets together with gwen bc it means he is jumping from girl to girl. with only elain and mor. he loved mor for 500 years and he met elain and after 2 years he moved on. it wasn't an instant thing that made him go "yes I will get with her" it was a build up. fuckboys jump from girl to girl. so if he gets together with gwen for the reason that he was just using elain for rebound it would mean his feelings for mor wasn't true, he used elain and now he is jumping to the next girl available.
antis: azriel only wants a mate
this will happen if he gets together with gwen bc all the reason they would be together is the mating bond. aka prove their point. if he only wanted a mate he wouldn't want elain who has a mate.
antis: azriel only wants elain bc she is the third sister
azriel started to have feelings for her before nessian got together. nesta was fucking new guy every night. thank you.
this also clashes with the second point aka only wanting a mate bc elain already has a mate.
antis: azriel feels entitled to elain.
acosf quote:
Cassian looked over at Az. “You think you’ll ever be ready for one?” Ever be ready to confess to Mor what’s in your heart? “I don’t know,” Azriel said. “Do you want a child?” “It doesn’t matter what I want.” Distant words—ones that prevented Cassian from prying further. He was still happy to be Mor’s buffer with Azriel, but there’d been a change lately. In both of them. Mor no longer sat beside Cassian, draped herself over him, and Azriel … those longing glances toward her had become few and far between. As if he’d given up. After five hundred years, he’d somehow given up. Cassian couldn’t think why.
again acowar quote with mor.
Rhys glanced over a shoulder to where I lingered by the foot of the
massive ivory bed, its carved headboard fashioned after overlapping
waterlilies. “It’s their life—their relationship. They have both had plenty of opportunities to confess what they feel. Yet they have not. Mor especially. For private reasons of her own, I’m sure. My meddling isn’t going to make it any better.” “But—but he loves her. How can he sit idly by?” “He thinks she’s happier without him.” His eyes shone with the memory —of his own choice to sit back. “He thinks he’s unworthy of her.”
so asking again...would a person who feels unworthy of probably anything in life feel entitled to something? like literally az's romance streotype/trope is "MC feels unworthy/scarred MC". they are the MC tropes that push the girl away because they feel unworthy. they want the girls to get with "someone better" pls. get it together.
if anyone is going to feel entitled it is gonna be glowstick boy. literally the word "untitled" is used.
James quickly pulled his phone from his back pocket. The text he wrote was still on the screen.
“This is very much none of my business,” Dante said as James put his phone back in his pocket, “But I accidentally saw what you wrote when I picked up your phone, and I think if you miss her this much, you should send it. Let her know."
"I’m only saying that because I had to miss many people in my life and I can’t tell them. So if you can, please tell her while you still have the chance.”
James shook his head, “It’s a bit more complicated than that…”
“I’m sorry,” Dante said, “I’m sticking my nose where it doesn’t belong…”
Do you guys ever think about how if redeemed!Durge pulls out of Gortash’s alliance after returning with Orin’s Netherstone that Gortash literally cannot rationalize their betrayal (and them now trying to kill him) by blaming their urge? Like how much of a complete mindfuck that would be for him. The Dark Urge just told him they’re 100% cured and now they’re trying to kill him? You know, the person who’s always been by their side, their partner in crime, their equal, and their (potential) lover; and now they’re trying to murder him. And prior to the amnesia, Gortash could always rationalize that if The Dark Urge tried to kill him one day that he could hand wave it as “they just couldn’t help themselves anymore” because of Bhaal’s hold on them. It doesn’t mean they wanted to.
But now, Bhaal is gone and The Dark Urge is moving in to kill him. There’s no way to rationalize it as anything else. The only person who ever cared about him is going to kill him, and he’ll die knowing everything they once had is completely gone. The Dark Urge doesn’t remember him. Their love for him died the moment Orin split their skull. The urge isn’t the reason they’re doing this. He’ll die knowing that they hate him.
Boutta check in my brutal honesty autism card and say that Hobie's big ass crush on Gwen was NOT subtle at all,he was being so classic 'cocky flirty punk dude' with her and gave her his sweater to borrow which is like the biggest unspoken 'i wanna be your boyfriend' move in the book, and neither was the (probably) accidental subtext of him liking Miles too that follows 'edgy and hardcore boy who's actually a huge softie has a thing for the cutesy and innocent ray of sunshine and is more protective and complimentary towards them than he is anyone else to show it' to a fuckin' T4T and the only reason people don't read it as either is that he's super handsome so they decided that meant he's a grown man instead of the cute lil black boy he is
"you lot are just against israeli colonialism because it's popular!!" unsurprising take from western radfems on my feed lol. anti zionism wasnt born in October or in your instagram feed. the fact that MOST americans and other westerners have always been retarded and compliant with their trillion dollar propaganda machine, doesn't mean everyone has.
tapping back into my rina obsession for 5 minutes just to say that irl drama played no role in your ship not being endgame because 1). the first eps of s2 (when rini evidently were abt to die a slow, painful death) were filmed at the beginning of 2020 literally a whole year before driver’s license drama
and 2). if the writers *really* wanted to, they could’ve easily delena-ed them and made them endgame regardless of the actors’ irl relationship + they could’ve easily written nini off (like they wrote elena off when nina wanted to leave) and still have had her and ricky do long distance for real this time or whatever—
but they didn’t because as explicitly stated by the writer, he completely changed the direction of the show once he was moved by rina’s chemistry in 1x05/6
also if this scene, filmed in s1, wasn’t the biggest foreshadowing ever that a lot of y’all obtusely ignored, then idk what else to say
