I am completely aware that my love for Toriguel lies completely in the fact that Xolo and Peyton had the absolute best chemistry in the show.

Their three kissing scenes reign supreme (something about the skating rink kiss just does something to me). Their flirting scenes involved the best banter. Their emotional scenes had so much passion. (The look on Miguel's face when Tory kicked him and the look on Tory's face when she saw him for the first time since he cheated, ahhhh,*chef's kiss!* 💋)

I'm very happy with Keenry being canon because it's honestly the healthiest relationship for Tory, but man, Toriguel just has this chokehold on me, and it's all Xolo's and Peyton's fault 😭

Shipping Toriguel really feels like eating junk food. A total guilty pleasure that does nothing but make my stomach twist with how angsty they are, but my heart flutter with the potential they had.

Btw, I don't care if I piss off people but I hate Samiguel and the writers' obsession with them. They can't carry the amount of scenes they get, they constantly force drama in their relationship by breaking them up over and over, their only "thing" is an octopus (💀), they clearly value diff things, she was gonna be introspective but I guess that plot line was dropped one episode in, he respected her for wanting to find herself but she made it all about herself when he wanted to find himself... and they're supposed to be at the "I love you" stage? Uhhh nah.

And on top of that they made every other character treat their break up as if it's the most horrible, dramatic thing that's happened when there's literally a murderous sensei expanding his dojo and whatnot 💀 They need sm propping to remain relevant it's exhausting!

And its even more annoying to me bc Keenry had a much better set up for conflict that was organic which they were robbed of, and also had way more relevance to stopping Silver and Cobra Kai than either Sam or Miguel. And a much more realistic, relatable relationship but I guess the only thing that matters is not the natural progression of a story but how "long" you've been together (inconsistently). They also have better chemistry but I'm not gonna go down that lane since it's subjective. But again there are so many other reasons... just ugh

Allow me to re-introduce myself

The year was 2017, a certain Orange Mussolini wannabe was president, and on TV there was this show on the CW about a Twin Peaks-style murder mystery in the Archie comics universe. You would think everyone’s favorite red-headed golden boy would propel the show but alas, no…..instead was the red-hot romance between his supposedly lowly best friend and the girl next door that catapulted the show to the stratosphere. Cue the next few seasons when “lowly” (and im being facetious) friend became leader of the local MC with his (on/off) blonde lady at his side. The optimist in me decides to fully return to tumblr and change my name in honor of their “potential union” plus the fact that they were together IRL (I forgot what my old account used to be lol). Another year or so goes by, I end up ditching said show late season 4, and blah blah blah I’m all about Cobra Kai.

But fear not, because in the CK verse, the ships are a sailing! Which is ironic given the shows supposed to be a “male” oriented action comedy. However, my favorite ship, and the reason I chose to keep my name is….

Keenry! Or Tobby, Robchols, whatever….

These two are the bad-guys turning into anti-heroes that I like to root for. Plus they’re darned hot. So there you have it, as I’m not much of the writer, and my thumbs hurt. More on why I left the ‘Dale/Vale in another post. Let’s do this folks, No Mercy!

Hot Take on the Johnny-Robby-Miguel Father Son Love Triangle

I see a lot of posts on my dash about how Johnny loves Miguel and Robby equally? How Johnny loves Robby more or Miguel more? How they could work as brothers?

Well I don’t think so. It isn’t possible for Johnny to love both of them equally. Mostly cuz that’s not how parental love works (unless someone has more than one kid) but you cannot love another kid with the same love for your own kid.

In Johnny’s case he has screwed up with Robby multiple times but even William Zabka said it, all Johnny wants is to make it work with his son. It does sound harsh but Miguel has been a “stand in son” or replacement for Robby since season 1. 

And it’s kinda weird why Carmen would want a relationship with Johnny, thinking he’s such a good dad to her son when the man has proven that he was a shit dad to his own kid. ANTI JARMEN HERE.

So I’m glad Miguel went off to find his dad cuz Johnny is anything but a reliable father figure. He has endangered his students multiple times and does a lot of favoritism. 

Back to Robby..so yeah Robby needs his dad and Johnny needs his son. It seriously doesn’t make sense when ppl talk as if Robby and Miguel will work as brothers? There’s too much animosity over Johnny, Sam, the high school incident and now Tory. 

*Totally unrelated but s4 was Sam’s best look.

Johnny also needs to realize that the love he has for both of them is different. For Miguel there  is somewhat of a fatherly love but never amounting to the same as that for Robby. And Johnny needs to stop using Miguel as a stand in son and gain the courage to show Robby how much he loves him.

Favorite thing about them: His protectiveness over the ones he loves! His good heart with so much love to give! His strong moral compass! What’s not to love??

Least favorite thing about them: Honestly just kicking Miguel off the balcony 🤷‍♀️ but at least that was an accident. I also didn’t like the friends he was hanging out with in S1, but he realized pretty quickly that he didn’t need them, and good for him!

Favorite line: “Cool story. Try telling it to someone who gives a shit.” Robby 1000, Kreese 0 😌

BROTP: SAM & ROBBY 🥰 also Robby & Tory!

Random headcanon: Johnny taught Robby to skateboard back when Robby was little, when Johnny would occasionally pop up in his life (not enough to constitute a true presence, but enough for Robby to HOPE). He kept up the skateboarding even when his dad stopped trying because, deep down, he wanted to feel close to his dad. But after learning karate under Mr. LaRusso, he only did it occasionally, and after his stint in juvie and then joining CK, he stopped altogether.

Unpopular opinion: Robby deserves a dad who fights for him!! And makes a real effort!! And yes, he is at fault for kicking Miguel over the balcony, but HE KNOWS THAT

Robby for the character ask game!

ROBBY sweet boy!! Unabashedly one of my favorite characters 🥰

He’s just...so good?? He genuinely wants what’s best for everyone. He keeps giving Johnny chances, Johnny just keeps squandering those chances. And though I think Jarmen is sweet, it definitely comes off as Johnny choosing Miguel over Robby. Hopefully Robby finds out before they get married at least! Being stepbrothers with Miguel would be an awful surprise for him.

Speaking of Miguel, I do want to be clear that I don’t excuse him kicking Miguel over the railing. That was wrong, especially after Miguel showed him mercy. But other than that, Robert Swayze Keene is the absolute sweetest, and you can’t convince me otherwise. He tried to stop Sam and Tory from fighting in 2x10! If Miguel wasn’t such a hothead, it might’ve worked!

I’m gonna address the elephant in the room: who do I ship him with? Currently: no one. He and Sam are siblings to me, I can’t see them romantically together. He and Tory barely know each other, and any romance would be based on making Sam and Miguel jealous, and neither of them are in a place for a healthy romance with anyone.

I’ve seen Shawbby floating around, and I can certainly see the appeal! But I don’t think it’ll ever be canon, since Shawn was barely a character, and only served as an antagonist for Robby. Then again, Tory was functionally the same for Sam at certain points (her family backstory was added in a few scenes and went nowhere), and I do ship them, so we’ll see! It’s not like ships need to be canon anyway–Samtory/Lanichols certainly won’t be. I just wish we saw enough of Shawn for me to ship him with anyone, especially Robby :/

1: if you could reboot one TV show, which one would it be?

Well I know OUAT did a soft reboot with their seventh season, and...honestly, if it were up to me, I’d de-canonize that seventh season and make it the first season of a spinoff called “Hyperion Heights” or something. The seventh season was fantastic, but...it does not fit in the main OUAT show. It just doesn’t. Move the series finale to the end of S6, cap it there, make the 7th season its own show, and keep it going for a few seasons. There’s a lot to explore in Hyperion! I wanna see more!

...then again, I would also like to scrap Wandavision’s finale and rewrite S1-finale Agatha Harkness as a better villain who isn’t so one-dimensional and does genuinely want to help Wanda but has a different moral compass or smth. Something to help Wanda grow as a character. We were so close, but the finale really dropped the ball on that 💀 and I’m mad about it

3: have you ever quit a show before it finished? why?

Funny you should ask, because I’ve decided to do that with the Flash 😂 it’s been getting worse the more I’ve watched, but Season 7 was the last straw. I don’t acknowledge anything past S6 as canon (up to 7x3, technically, since that was the S6 finale), and even within canon, there’s a lot I don’t like. I’ll tune in for any crossovers, and for the eventual series finale, but other than that...I’m out. Fandom content only for this one.

I’m also on the verge of doing this for Cobra Kai, but that really depends on what they do in S4. Some of the rumors I’ve heard (like about Silver being someone’s dad), K*enry apparently becoming canon next season, the way S2 mishandled a lot of their conflicts and how the show never really recovered from that...idk. I think I’ve talked about my grievances with S2 before, I’ll link the post if I find it. I’m happy to talk about them again, in any case 😂

8: do you prefer week-to-week content, or just binging all in one go?

Definitely week to week 😂 I don’t really have time to binge stuff in one go, so I have to space it out, and that means I can’t really go looking for content until after I’ve caught up (I spoiled some parts of 2x10 of Cobra Kai for myself this way 🙃). Weekly releases mean I just have to watch an episode a week to be caught up. Plus, speculating is fun! As much as Wandavision disappointed a lot of fans because of all the theorizing happening...I loved that experience. Fandom theorizing is just fun, and I miss it.

29: do you tend to quote TV shows a lot? have you ever started using a word/phrase because of a TV show?

“Ya basic!” from Good Place is part of my vernacular now 😂 other than that...none that I can remember off the top of my head, but I’m sure there’s at least some that I’m forgetting.

37: which TV show setting would you most like to visit?

Ted Lasso! I wanna walk around their football club and meet everyone 🥰 and I wanna be Will’s friend!!

Why do I have the feeling that Cobra Kai S4 is going to give us the plot line of Robby & Tory starting to date as a couple, only for Tory to find out she doesn’t feel that way about him, while Robby’s all-in on how he feels about her, which leads to her breaking up with him. With it all somehow paralleling how Robby & Sam or Tory& Miguel’s relationships exploded. Like maybe, Tory is upset sitting on a bench or something (like crying maybe?), and Miguel finds her. They talk about what went wrong with their own relationship, sort of making amends. Tory platonically hugs Miguel as a friend, only for Robby to see them. Which breaks his heart & infuriates him. Love your thoughts on this.

This is possibly honestly, though I’m hoping the show goes the route of “Surprise, I’m a lesbian” ~ Tory and “Surprise! I’m gay/arospec” ~Robby.

In terms of actual realistic show expectations: I can certainly see the show going the route of Robby being jealous of Miguel...but I also feel like it’s a repetitive plotline. We had our fill of that in S3, I think. Time for that rivalry to focus squarely on the Johnny issues. And there’s still the gaping Sam wound between them, so dragging Tory into it probably wouldn’t be a good idea narratively.

Favorite thing about them: how compassionate she is! It’s hard to see sometimes in moments like 2x10 and 3x10, but she is genuinely a very kind person and I love her 🥰 and she loves her family fiercely!

Least favorite thing about them: Every time she initiated violence, I just wanna give her a stern talking-to 🤦‍♀️ like, first of all, in 2x10, which is she more angry at SAM (a girl she barely knows) than MIGUEL (her literal BOYFRIEND) for the 2x9 kiss?? I’m not saying Sam was blameless, but COME ON TORY! Your boyfriend is RIGHT THERE! (The show also blames Sam more than Miguel, so this isn’t just a Tory problem).

And then in 3x10...why. Just why. After that whole speech to Robby about how starting fights will just send them back to juvie, after how SHE almost got sent to juvie...here she is, breaking into Sam’s house and starting a fight. There were SO many other ways to get back at Sam and Miguel if she really wanted to keep them from teaming up (there’s also something to say about how she’s worried about her family, and her jobs, AND rent...but all of a sudden, when Kreese beats up the landlord, ALL of her problems are magically solved?? And she has loads of free time??

Favorite line: “Some people have it good. The rest of us? We have to fight for every inch of what’s ours!” Just...that whole speech 🥺 she deserves better!!

BROTP: Tory and Hawk, Tory and Robby, Tory and Sam (in my AU, though I wouldn’t mind seeing it in the show!). Also just Samtorisha in general 🥰

OTP: Samtory/Lanichols, Torisha

NOTP: K*enry, whatever the ship is between Tory and Hawk, Tor*guel, etc. I headcanon her as a lesbian!

Random headcanon: Tory is left-handed! I went back and watched her fight scenes for research purposes, and although she can fight with both hands, her most complicated moves are executed and/or supported with her left hand. And as a fellow leftie, I feel SEEN (even though I’m fairly certain this was unintentional 😂)

Unpopular opinion: Tory and Sam are BOTH amazing characters, and y’all are wasting your time hating on one or the other. They’ve both made mistakes, they’re both teenagers, and they both deserve to be happy and safe!!
