So the whole volume is a love letter Kerry wrote to himself because the crew show time and again that they have zero imagination. 🥴 Like- I’m glad Kerry realized this for himself, I truly am. But the result of shoving this self-insert theme into V9 was that nothing happens and the entire team learns nothing.

RWBY never truly struggled with feeling inadequate until this volume, which they should feel because they royally screwed up. They’ve always been the unquestionable heroes and have run around with an air of unearned self importance and blatant hypocrisy for years, culminating in an entire kingdom being destroyed, and the message they have to learn is literally “ya, but you tried so here’s your participation trophy because feeling bad about yourself is icky”?!

The team just learning “you are enough” is unsatisfying in general, but also infuriating when they have a lot of flaws that led to this situation they never had to confront. They’re liars, hypocrites, apparently brain damaged to forget Cinder existed in volume 8, self-centered, and exploitative brats who take advantage of Ironwoods amenities while lying to his face. Oh- I’m sorry but I guess they’re good enough 🙄

I understand wanting to defend yourself, but anon does kind of have a point though. Lately, I see more people focusing on shipping and rep for some reason than talking about the main issues with rt. RT for years overworked their staff without reasonable pay and some didn't get paid at all for the first few months, a lot of them lost their jobs and personally faced racism and homophobia and rt still gets away with it by using their famous statement that "they're going to be better." Shipping and rep do feel like such a small thing to focus on when people for years have suffered working under the company

So I've talked at length about and reblogged tons of posts about RT's various horrible practices and bad horrible behavior, over and over and over again for the past like three years. Meanwhile I also make silly memes, talk about how queer representation is important to me, nitpick and criticize media, and just talk about and analyze things that interest me. But because I am in fact spending a couple days answering asks where I'm being attacked, you're.... Telling me I'm in the wrong? Saying that anon had a point when they told me what to do and basically said 'shut up queer rep doesn't even matter right now and you're just mad people ship things you don't?' I have actively called out RT and RWBY over and over on WAY more than queer rep, nobody gets to tell me to shut up because that's not the only thing I post. And btw, what are you doing cruising for RWBY content enough to see my post? You're implying all my time needs to be spent calling out RT (only for the things you want me to say) but here you are spending your time on the internet doing other things? Taking issue with me, instead of making posts calling out RT? Weird.

I wanted to make this its own post and add some stuff.

Miles and Kerry are the reason Rwby went to shit and Rwby stans refuse to acknowledge it because they see these two white men as their gods. They even go out of their way to downplay Monty's part in his own creation by reducing him as "the animator who does cool fights," while giving majority of the credit to these two wackadoos.

They don't want to admit they prefer Miles and Kerry's version of rwby, because they also have to admit it's no longer Monty's work post vol 3 and on top of that, Miles and Kerry's version of "Rwby" sucks ass. Thats why they're hellbent on the "Monty planned everything since the beginning and Miles and Kerry totally knows his vision" while at the same minimize Monty as the creator in the same breath.

This is also why they are terrified of Dillion buying the rights to rwby when they found out Shane works with him and is close friends with him. They spent years slandering Shane as nothing more than a "bitter and disgruntled ex employee" when he released his letter because they don't want to believe their "besties," their "fam," they're "little meow meows" in crwby could possibly be terrible people. I mean, why would anyone ever lie about themselves on the internet guys??? /S

They purposefully "forgot" about the abuse scandals that were exposed once again just two years ago and are thanking Rooster Teeth for the fond memories. They're thanking the people they saw on that live stream because thats all who they care about. The animator who had to endure crunch time with little to no pay, who found out through twitter they no longer have an job? Who cares about them? They're a nobody. Miles and Kerry are not nobodies, they're celebrities on Youtube and in RT. That's who the rwby stans truly care about.

I don’t think Luz is in the wrong for killing Belos, he was a genocidal maniac and child abuser and genuinely irredeemable- nobody who hates the ending of The Owl House complains about Belos being irredeemable, they complain about the show flopping the cult critical message, how hunter’s possession felt like needless shock value, the show not properly setting up the collector or how the coven system/conformitorium’s writing is a mess or how Eda becoming a teacher makes as much sense as Toph becoming a cop and you can go ‘but the show said-’ what the show said had unfortunate implications, was uncomfortable to abuse survivors, and I can’t forgive the ass-pullery of the trailer-bait nightmare sequence or how in the hexside crew became irrelevant! When people complain about how Belos was handled nobody complains about him not getting a redemption arc- they complain that hunter should’ve been there to see belos die or how they hate Luz’s power up. RWBY -James Ironwood’s and Penny’s character arcs and deaths felt so ableist it’s actually uncomfortable to watch, I have ASD my sister, and like half of the people I know have PTSD, I don’t know any amputees but I’ve seen plenty making noise about how shit the writing was. Good, they should be mad! The show’s message about prosthetics/amputations was toxic! Not mention for all the hopeful messages Team RWBY screams at the top of their lungs about trust they knowingly broke Ironwood’s trust for very poorly defined reasons! while I do think ruthless pragmatism is a bad thing, team RWBY offered no alternatives, he wasn’t a villain- he was facing an ethical dilemma and got fucked over. And SVTFOE- I shouldn’t have to buy tie-in materials to understand the show- tie-in material should be a bonus not a supplement or requirement, I Don’t have to buy the ATLA comics inorder to understand the show, I don’t have to read all of Lord Of The Rings to understand the movies. It doesn’t matter how the show was supposed to be interpreted or how the audience is supposed to feel, and It’s perfectly valid for the audience not to care about damage control spinoffs (cough cough Steven Universe) or Q&A’s or whatever. I’ll admit sometimes the audience is fucking stupid and completely media illiterate but can we stop acting like anyone who doesn’t blindly consume product and go with what the writers said are stupid? I know im not articulating this well but I’m pissy rn and I’m having trouble deconstructing whats wrong with those kind of arguments but god there is so much wrong with these arguements

I just saw a Rwde claiming that we fans use Monty's name as a way to bash critics of the show. Really? You guys are the ones who have used his name as a way to validate your criticism by claiming everything after his death was against his wishes even when CRWBY (Monty's friends, meaning they actually knew him) said otherwise. That's something you've been using against us fans for years, so don't pretend like it's us who have been doing it now. Stop projecting. You created the Rwde tag for the sole purpose of bashing the show and it's fandom. You all would be hating on him personally if he was still alive and the show had turned out the same way and you know it. We love Monty and wish he was never taken from us, and we also want what remains of him to stay, so we don't lose him a second time. We won't let you take RWBY from us without a fight.

they delayed v9, put unnecessary strain on their animation team (which consists of 5 people, a shoelace and a broom) for a shitty crossover that did NOT needed to be developed in house alongside v9.... bro rt is such an incompetents company like its impressive how badly they run their company

and then there's Ar*yn Tr*che acting as defense speaking for everyone that the budget for vol 9 and the JL x rwby movies were separate. Just ignore the other animators who worked themselves to death on those two projects practically for FREE.

Considering the existence of of Ilia, Coco, Saphron, Terra, Scarlet and May, it seems to me that RWBY has more lgbt rep than your headcanon. Or are you one of those people who dosen't consider rep valid unless it's part of the main cast? In that case, have a nice day and stay away from the RWBY tag.

I love the rep that we are getting with Ilia, Coco, Saphron, Terra, Scarlet, and May. Especially Saphron and Terra being married and having Adrian. Plus the cast reacts to Saphron being in a W|W relationship the proper way, which is viewing it as normal and seeing the beauty of two people who love each other dearly.

Ilia is one of my favorite side characters coming from the Mistral Arc. I even have her being in a relationship with Blake in my fanfic.

May is wonderful trans rep. Her line about not being the Marigolds’ daughter nor their son anymore hits hard. Plus given that Penny had the soul of Pietro, a male, and was able to become a maiden basically allows May to become a Maiden. A Winter Maiden or Summer Maiden May would be so cool.

Also not to forget Ice Queendom having Shion being non-binary. They are such a bad ass and I loved every second they were on screen.

So no Anon, I do appreciate the queer rep in RWBY. You know what I don’t appreciate? The way the company that makes RWBY treats queer people. Rooster Teeth’s name comes from “Cock muncher”, a derogatory term to describe gay men. Also knowing what Kdin and so many other former employees have come out with how poorly RT treats its queer employees, it gets kinda hard to see the queer rep in RWBY as genuine and not a way to push pride merch. RT has continually been called out for calling queer people slurs and dehumanizing them. In the case of Kdin, they literally liquidized her position.

So no anon, I’m not leaving the RWBY tag because I don’t like a homophobic company. Maybe you should stop asking anon questions to queer people who dare question your precious pixels and start to think about the damage that RT has done against real queer people. Thanks.
