Heya! I've already asked a few people these following questions, I hope you don't mind if I also ask you:
1) Given that the HP TV series is currently underway, and both David Yates and Steve Kloves have confirmed to NOT be involved in it in any capacity, how much do you want to bet that as soon as they heard that the TV series promises to be accurate and faithful to the books (per the HBO Max Twitter account), Yates and Kloves dipped out and didn't want to be a part of it because it meant that they couldn't add any more controversial non-canon and non-existent Hermione and Harmony/Harmione moments?
Also, while we're talking about the TV series:
2) What do you hope to see in the TV series when it finally comes out? Do you want any canon-related moments that weren't shown in the books to be added in (for example, off-screen moments that were only talked about in the books but never actually shown, or Call-Forwards to Cursed Child)? Personally, I hope justice is done to Ron, Ginny, Romione and Hinny and they're all portrayed accurately. Various other websites are also hoping for the same thing, with some articles even acknowledging that both characters and both relationships were horribly bastardized in the films.
(PS I was originally going to send this as an Ask, but I like the Submission better because I can add tags, which you can't do with an Ask 🤷‍♀️)
(PPS Take your time responding and answering my questions, I'm aware that I wrote a lot 😅👀)
My answer: look, I am not that hopeful about it. At 1st I was excited. But later I felt it would be a cash grab and they would push what sells more than what actual canon says. I can already see them promoting more sympathetic Malfoy, Snape, harry/Hermione garbage. I don't think I am ready for that. So I am gonna wait until I see casting, trailer, promotion etc.

Hello there! 👋 So, the HP TV series is underway, and fortunately, both David Yates and Steve Kloves are NOT involved, and HBO Max stated on its Twitter that this series will be faithful to the books.
Several websites, like Collider and ScreenRant and GameRant and Reddit, have articles stating that they hope that, in the TV series, Ron and Ginny, and Romione and Hinny, will be portrayed accurately to the books. It's nice that more people are starting to recognize that both characters and both relationships were severely under-represented in the movies, as well as acknowledging that so many of Ron's best moments, and even some of Harry's moments, in the books (the real canon) were all unfairly and stupidly given to Hermione in the movies because of Kloves and Yates — who instead kept making Hermione perfect and badass when she wasn't supposed to be and kept inserting non-canon Harmony moments that literally never existed in the books. Even Bonnie Wright recently admitted, in a podcast, that she was disappointed that she wasn't allowed to portray the real Ginny in the movies.
[BTW Harmony is such a bad ship name that literally doesn't even make sense if one actually read the books — Harry doesn't like Hermione romantically because he doesn't find her attractive, he's prone to ignoring her many times, and he finds her bossy know-it-all nature to be annoying, and he doesn't like it when he and Hermione are alone together without Ron because they have next to nothing to talk about.]
[At the very least, Daniel Radcliffe said in 2014 that he was very happy that Hinny happened, and he didn't like the thought of Harmony getting together because it would've been a bit predictable.]
I have three Asks for you:
1) Would you watch this TV series when it comes out in 2025, with the knowledge that it's (hopefully) going to be faithful to the books as promised and Yates and Kloves are NOT involved?
2) What do you hope will happen in the TV series? Personally, I hope that — in addition to Ron, Ginny, Romione and Hinny being portrayed accurately — the moment where Harry and Ginny play Exploding Snap at the end of Chamber of Secrets will be added in, as a Call-Forward to Cursed Child (as a married couple, Ginny tells Harry that, after she left the hospital wing and returned to the Gryffindor common room, everyone shunned her, but Harry played Exploding Snap with her to cheer her up, and his kindness towards her in that moment caused her to truly fall in love with him).
3) How much do you want to bet that, as soon as Kloves and Yates heard that the TV series is promising to be faithful to the books, they decided to stay out of it because it meant that they couldn't insert any more controversial non-canon moments towards Hermione and Harmony anymore?
Take your time responding and answering my questions, I know I wrote a lot 😅
———————————————————————
Hiya. Sorry this took so long.
I probably won’t be watching because. A. I don’t have hbo. And. B. I don’t really thought no the books need to be adapted again so soon. If at all.
I don’t consider cursed child canon. But I do think it would be nice for hinny to get some more bonding moments because the films severely shortchanged them.
Ooooh. I bet they were tearing their hair out.
Hopefully this answers all your questions.

As someone who was once a diehard romione person (both on Tumblr and fanfiction) and now more of an anidala/hinny/Jily person I think I know why romione hasn't aged well or why alot of romione shippers don't ship it anymore. This is just my observation/opinion and not fact. I'm also not anti romione but just neutral on them now.
I think rereading the books especially starting in book 4, you start to notice that it seems like JK Rowling favors Hermione alot over Ron This has been theorized but people think it's because she is JK self insert. Some think it's because of Steve Kloves influence over her and he is a notorious harmony shippers who made movies. I think people compare say Percabeth from Percy Jackson series where they are very similar to romione but, they are written as more balanced. Now this idk if I agree on but some say they feel like JK made Ron dumber as books went on to make Hermion/Harry look better.
Another big issue is the Hermione hitting Ron aka trope of woman hitting a man is ok. If it was reversed, I can't imagine the outrage. I know lots of previous romione fans who are now very anti romione because of this. It just doesn't sit well with alot of people for obvious reasons. This would be the one thing I think would have to change if they ever redid them into tv show
For me personally, it comes down to, I just think hinny is personally a more healthy dynamic and i'm also a sucker for childhood crush ends up turning into mutal love (anidala really helped me start to love hinny/jily)
That is a very interesting take. Thank you anon :)
I have always seen them as this old married couple in 11-year-olds. Which I always found adorable in some way. But I do agree with some of these, especially the physical abuse part. I don't think it can be excused, since hitting someone is always a shitty thing to do. And as someone who have been physically abused in the past, I'm 100% on Ron's side.
But for me, it isn't enough for me to not ship them. If it had been a common thing in fanfiction as well, I would maybe have been thrown of the pairing totally. Luckily, it is not. However, I totally understand anyone who don't ship them for this reason.
If they ever did a remake of the series. Hermione hitting Ron would be up there with the things they should do different. Number one would still be fixing Ginny, so she is more than just Harry's future wife. Because she was so much more in the books. In the movies she was just there so that the epilogue would make sense. I will never forgive Steve Kloves for that.
I know I haven't mentioned it on here. But I'm also a big Jily shipper. Childhood crushes turning into to mutual love is also one of my favorite tropes.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
Tumblr media
The Fantastic Beasts series has corrected its course with The Secrets of Dumbledore. This third chapter makes great use of its lead character and his animal friends. It also suffers from some of the boneheaded decisions writer J. K. Rowling made in the previous entry and never reaches the wonder present in the original Potter series. Still, it's reinvigorated my enthusiasm and I hope to see another.
In 1932, the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) has followers everywhere and his influence is growing. Unfortunately, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) - the only man who could face him - is unable to due to a blood pact they formed when in love years ago. To circumvent this enchantment, Grindelwald has convinced Credence (Ezra Miller) to murder the renowned schoolteacher. Meanwhile, Dumbledore has recruited Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), his brother Thesseus (Callum Turner), Eulalie “Lally” Hicks (Jessica Willis), Yusuf Kama (William Nadylam) and No-Maj Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler) to move on his behalf.
To my relief, it’s revealed that Credence is not Dumbledore’s long-lost brother or son, but his nephew. That makes a lot more sense. In my defense, when they introduced the woman who will become Nagini (absent from this movie entirely), I thought all good sense had left J. K. Rowling’s head. Evidently, I wasn’t the only one. She is now co-credited with Steve Kloves as the writer.
The Secrets of Dumbledore is better writen than Crimes of Grindelwald but the film is still recovering from its predecessor and makes the puzzling choice to sideline Katherine Waterston’s Tina Goldstein almost entirely. It’s also jarring to see Gellert Grindelwald now played by Mads Mikkelson with no explanation whatsoever. I'm only complaining about how different he looks, mind you. Some of the movie’s best scenes are with Mikkelson and Jude Law. You can tell they want to hate each other but can’t. It’s just that with the character being disguised for almost all of Fantastic Beasts, being played by Johnny Depp in the second movie and being “replaced” once more, this role is feeling a bit like it’s been jinxed.
The Secrets of Dumbledore is a mystery but not the kind we’re used to. Grindelwald has gained the ability to see into the future, which makes him all but undefeatable. The only way to get around his powers of premonition is to be unpredictable. This means Dumbledore's allies - and the audience - only get snippets of the complete plan. This can make the film feel aimless during the first half. It also make the payoffs you notice satisfying. The film’s most memorable mission combines uncertain objectives with Newt’s affinity for magical creatures. It’s a great scene in a sinister prison that’s humorous, frightening, and tense. It makes great use of Newt’s awkwardness, the many monsters that lurk within the Wizarding World, and everyone’s favorites: his Niffler and Bowtruckle, Pickett.
This picture is a step in the right direction but we're three movies in and still feeling the growing pains. The magical battles take place in a way that avoids destruction and witnesses, which makes them nice and clean story-wise. When this same tactic is used in the Wizarding World, it can feel anti-climactic. Director David Yates struggles to find the balance between a plot that feels epic and intimate. There are too many characters and too many are new when they could be recurring ones. That said, the emotions at the end are strong and it gets you amped for more.
Once The Secrets of Dumbledore gets going, it keeps you invested. You won’t feel the 142-minute running time. It's rough around the edges but if you have any sort of affinity for the Wizarding World, it's worth seeing. (Theatrical version on an expanded screen, April 18, 2022)

For me the biggest annoyance is how obsessed with Hermione the screenwriter Steve Kloves was. So many scenes where he seems to be forcing Harry and Hermione into a relationship that simply isn't there. This also affects his treatment of Ron and Ginny. Where Ron is treated like a bumbling fool in the later movies and Ginny comes off a kind of bland, where in the books they are fully realized characters. Really Hermione getting a handful of Ron's lines and is a flawless character is worse.
And how she got Dumbledore's lines. How she said voldemort from the first movie.

Just read an answer on Quora saying Rupert Grint is a pathetic actor and they see no fault in the screenwriter giving his lines to Hermione.
I mean, you can dislike him, it's your opinion (and I'd still be pissed off about it) but calling him pathetic, it's absurd. The fact that he still proved to be the best among the three with the little he was given.
Anyway, I was like:

I’M SORRY, BUT
Severus Snape was NOT a hero.
Hermione Granger was NOT better than Ron Weasley. (they were equally important, so don’t come at me)
Ginny Weasley is NOT a useless character.
The movies totally ruined the Weasleys.
We deserved to see the REAL Hermione and not just a “PERFECT” version of her.
Harry is an interesting character with a personality.
James Potter was NOT a bad person.
Ron is not dumb or useless either.
Dumbledore was a bit awful.
Hagrid deserves more recognition.
Gryffindor ≠ Good
Slytherin ≠ Bad
THE MARAUDERS.
And for the last time, Snape being in love with Lily DOES NOT make up for bullying children and being an asshole.

Ron Weasley’s Wikipedia Page...
That moment when you create a Wikipedia account, make 10 edits on random subjects just so you can edit Ron’s Wealsey’s page to delete the nonsense about Ron being less magically gifted and the most mediocre of the Weasley’s siblings and add in all the accomplishments that they somehow forgot. I mean who wrote that thing, Steve Kloves?

Just a heads up
I am currently watching the penguins of Madagascar during breakfast. But when I finish that movie there is a very high chance that I’ll be watching all eight Harry Potter movies now that they’re on Netflix. I haven’t watched any of them in close to a decade and it’s mostly going to be for nostalgia purposes and the ever present rage against Steve Kloves. Just thought I should give you lot a warning. Just in case you’d prefer to block that tag if you haven’t already. I just thought that I should mention it.

So, i was dissing Steve Kloves on a Pro-Ron video, then a Harmony shipper insulted me by saying Harmony is better and Steve Kloves da best. I asked him how, then he said lol people with common interests have a long-term relationship while people with different interests are a one-way ticket to the divorce courts. I mean, how dumb is that??
Okay so first off - concerning Kloves as a writer here’s a fantastic bit of meta by @feadae of a scene from DH2:
J.K. Rowling’s sentence–help will be given to those who ask for it–captures a quality she praises throughout the series: compassion. No matter who asks, good or evil or in-between, Hogwarts will give aid. And it’s true. Just think of the Room of Requirement. Literally, Hogwarts is giving help to anyone who knows how to ask. It helped Harry and his classmates immensely by providing shelter for the D.A. It helped Malfoy by giving him a place (and possibly a means; I’m not sure) to fix the Vanishing Cabinet. It even helped Tom Riddle by giving him a place to stash his Horcrux.
Kloves’ sentence, on the other hand–help will be given to those who deserve it–is completely different and could be interpreted as directly contradicting Rowling’s intentions. Automatically, it’s biased toward someone, depending on who decides who deserves help and who is undeserving (a point which is never made clear, by the way), whereas Rowling made a point to show that Hogwarts has (or ought to have, in many cases) no bias in that respect, for better or for worse.
Steve Kloves is basically giving a giant middle finger to J.K. Rowling here: he quotes her line, essentially says he can do it better, then proceeds to do it the way he would have done it, which is completely contrary to what Ms. Rowling wrote and (as far as I can tell) intended.
- Read it all here.
And I don’t wanna say “misogyny” or “mansplaining” or “Steve Kloves is an incompetent blowhard and his creepy Calvinistic chauvinism ruined the HP fandom” but I certainly am thinking it very hard.
Now, as for our harmonious friend.
people with common interests have a long-term relationship while people with different interests are a one-way ticket to the divorce courts
Then Harry and Hermione are certain to be divorcing within the week.
Harry may wear glasses but he’s as far from a nerd as humanely possible. Harry is a jock, jock, jock. Harry is all about that Quidditch. Harry doesn’t give a shit about your dusty library, Harry wants to go OUTSIDE and live his best life OUTSIDE. He wants to be Just Harry, not The Greatest Hero Of Them All. He wants to be away from the spotlight.
Hermione likes books. She likes being knowledgeable. She especially likes being praised for being knowledgeable and gettting recognition for her accomplishments. Hermione doesn’t mind spending hours inside a library if it means achieving good grades. Hermione is all about that sweet sweet achievement and recognition, she’s not the quiet erudite who demurely recites a complex formula and blushing as all eyes gradually turn on her; she’s already half-standing and shouting the formula before the teacher finishes saying the question and completely ignores all the angry / exasperated stares she gets. Hermione WANTS to make noise. Hermione WANTS to be heard. And Hermione HATES Quidditch.
So congrats Harmonian, you played yourself: you’ve essentially admitted that Harry should’ve married Ron.

I've noticed more people are bringing up Lavender and I love her so I'm joining in on this. Does anyone remember if Lavender Brown is described as not being white in the books?
Remember when they casted Lavender as a woman/girl of colour but replaced the actress immediately when she got screen time and lines? :) That still doesn't sit right with me.
No hate to the actress that got lines as Lavender, I thought her acting was really good but they should have never done that to the former actress(es).

Everything Wrong With Every Harry Potter Movie: Sorcerer’s Stone
- Neville’s character is cut too much. Harry’s impact on Neville gets erased entirely because not only is Harry comforting Neville cut out, Neville fighting Draco is as well, and Neville trying to warn the Trio about Draco following them is cut out too
- All of the warning signs for how the Trio will eventually be characterized are here:
• Harry isn’t as kind as he is in the book. Like I said, they’re already downplaying his kindness by minimizing his impact on Neville, they cut out his speech about why he has to get the Stone (this speech shows how good Harry’s heart is and they cut it), they replaced these scenes with Harry murderering Quirrell. Major red flag; Harry’s uniquely kind heart gone, and a murder scene instead. Yikes. Harry’s snark is also gone
• This is the least bad Ron of all the movies, but again, the warning signs are all there. He became a bumbling fool in the Devil’s Snare, and Hermione had to save only him rather than him AND Harry in the book. Also, Hermione is the one who lost her cool and Ron had to remind her to use magic. In the movie, Hermione keeps her cool and rescues him with no problems
• Hermione, again, is the least bad in this book, but again, red flags. The scene with the Devil’s Snare is a big one, it makes Hermione not have flaws
- The Dursley’s, you know, the abusive relatives that starve Harry, lock him in a closet, physically hurt him, lie to him about who he is and who his parents were, tell him he is worthless, and treat him like a house elf essentially, are made into a joke to make Harry’s upbringing not as bad, and make Harry’s pure heart even less unique. The reason for this is literally not known
- For some reason, again, the Potions level is erased. I don’t know the reason for this, especially because it is supposed to be Hermione’s moment to shine, while Ron’s is the Chess, and Harry’s is the Key room, and they’re supposed to work as a unit for Fluffy and the next one, Devil’s Snare. We never get to see why it’s the Golden Trio and not just 3 heroes together; we never actually see them working together and therefore, we can assume one would be able to do it without the other two, unlike the books, that make it clear none of the three could do it without the other two
