There are few things I hate more than "Jewish ally" anti-theists and atheists that spout complete bullshit about Judaism and our supposed beliefs as though they know better than we do what we believe. When we talk about cultural xtianity, this is the kind of shit we're talking about.
Tumblr media
"You might not believe in hell but most Jews do, my ex-xtian interpretation of your holy texts is correct despite thousands of years of information on the subject, here's a video telling you that you're wrong." Spent several posts calling non-religious people "freethinkers," and continuously dodged the question regarding the harm eliminating religion would do to so many cultures. Not to mention going from "I think the world is better without religion" to "you have an anti-xtian bias that I don't like" as though there's not a reason for that.
Ex-xtian atheists - you need to address and unlearn your xtian belief that your way is the only right way. That you are objectively correct and everyone else is just ignorant. That you know better than the religious minorities you are addressing. People like this want an excuse to talk down to religious minorities under the guise of polite language, and if you don't want to be associated with them, you have to put in the work to not be like this. I say this as an ex-Catholic, and a former anti-theist - do better.
If you are making objective assertions about someone else's religion that you have not studied and cannot answer basic questions about, you're not being critical of religion, you're being an atheist supremacist. If you pull a "gods are more harmful than helpful" like this person but cannot tell me the impact of Kali or Sàngó on their respective cultures, you are not being critical, you're ignorant and self-absorbed. If you have not studied religion, you do not know what you are talking about, and if you are only accepting xtian interpretations of other religions as true, even as a basis for hatred of religion, you're just a xtian with a new wallpaper.
If you are advocating for anti-theism, you are advocating for the cultural genocide of hundreds of different cultures around the world. If you are advocating for anti-theism, you are inherently anti-Jew. And if you are talking over Jews when they correct you on your blatant misunderstanding of our culture, only to call us *liars* when we counter your misconceptions, or call out your cherry-picked sources for why you know better than we do, you're not just an asshole, you're an Antisemite.
I took this conversation in good faith, hoping that the ignorance was born from misunderstanding instead of malice. I should not have been so kind. And if you're going to come onto this post and whine and cry about "not all atheists," or "cultural xtianity isn't real," save us both the time and block me. I'm done entertaining atheists that will not acknowledge that y'all don't know better than the religious minorities you are insulting by assuming we're all just blind sheep being lied to by some hierarchy that doesn't exist outside of certain religions. My partner is an atheist. I was for a long time, and I chose to return to religion on my own. I'm still an atheist, but I am also very religious. I'm the "smart Jew" that ex-xtians love to talk about; enlightened and no longer clinging to the supernatural. And I'm telling you that you're a fucking asshole and I associate more with the most spiritual Orthodox Jew than I ever would with someone who thinks atheism makes you superior.

If god is unable to prevent evil, then he is not all-powerful.
If god is not willing to prevent evil, then he is not all-good.
If god is both willing and able to prevent evil, then why does evil exist?
If god created everything then that means he created evil. And if that is the case what does that say about god?

Queersatanic has said some iffy things in the past so I wasn’t surprised to see them being antisemitic and spreading ahistorical nonsense on @didyoumeanxianity post but I did want to add that they used Ashkenazi to mean white Jews and that is just not how it works. There are lots of Jews of color who are Ashkenazi. Then there are Ashkenazi Jews who aren’t bipoc but don’t look enough like white goyim.
My father has never looked white enough and has had racism thrown at him. He immigrated to America and so as a kid he didn’t speak English. His family spoke with heavy accents and also didn’t look white enough. As he lived in California he mostly got mistaken for Latino by bigoted idiots. Though he also faced antisemitism as well because bigots could tell he was Jewish. So no besides everything wrong queersatanic said white Jews do sometimes still experience racialized antisemitism

It amazes me how I will talk about some of my experiences with antisemitism and people will then go on to talk about how sad it is that people hate other people “of other religions”.
When the experience I just shared was someone in elementary school pointing to my mom’s hair and then to mine and saying “I knew you were a Jew- your mom has Jew hair.”
Or how someone once accused me of having a nose job done in high school so I wouldn’t have a “kike nose”.
Or that time someone found out I was Jewish and went “Oh, so you’re not like, really white- you’re faking it.”
Or the countless times that people have mocked my non-white traits (dark body hair, wiry hair, brown eyes, and yes even my body size and the way I am proportioned have been included) as “Kike markers” or “Jew-y looking”.
Do some people hate Jews because we practice Judaism? Absolutely. Is MOST antisemitism based on the idea of Jews as a separate, non-white race that the anti-theist part covers for? YES.
When I am talking about my experienced with antisemitism, I am NEVER talking about someone hating on me for practicing Judaism- because I have never, in my life, experienced that without it being fundamentally tied to a hatred of me as a JEW.

It is, when you think about it, remarkable that a religion should adopt an instrument of torture and execution as its sacred symbol, often worn around the neck. Lenny Bruce rightly quipped that 'If Jesus had been killed twenty years ago, Catholic school children would be wearing little electric chairs around their necks instead of crosses.' But the theology and punishment-theory behind it is even worse. The sin of Adam and Eve is thought to have passed down the male line - transmitted in the semen according to Augustine. What kind of ethical philosophy is it that condemns every child, even before it is born, to inherit the sin of a remote ancestor? Augustine, by the way, who rightly regarded himself as something of a personal authority on sin, was responsible for  coining the phrase 'original sin'. Before him it was known as 'ancestral sin'. Augustine's pronouncements and debates epitomize, for me, the unhealthy preoccupation of early Christian theologians with sin. They could have devoted their pages and their sermons to extolling the sky splashed with stars, or mountains and green forests, seas and dawn choruses. These are occasionally mentioned, but the Christian focus is overwhelmingly on sin sin sin sin sin sin sin. What a nasty little preoccupation to have dominating your life.

religion IS misoginy
People have used religion to justify oppresion towards women since ever, men love to use Eve has an example of "women's innate evil" because she's the one who bite the forbiden fruit and tempted Adam to do the same, blaming women for all evil in humanity (despite being God, a male according to them, who created evil in the first place)but what men don't do is to blame other evil ON MEN
Cain was the first person to ever murdered someone, he is male, but nobody is blaming all men for this, or Judas turning up Jesus and therefor stealing him from humankind. Its "not all men" when men who we have all the proof that have existed because we are living among them are killing, raping, stealing, oppresing, but its "all women" just because in your fairytale religion is a woman who bite a fruit in a myth (despite AGAIN, God, a male, is the one who put the fruit there and knew they would eat it)
Religion is a tool to oppress, is to make us feel we are inferior to men and keep us in their power. Free yourself and stop submiting yourself to a religion who see you as less than
(i'm talking about the bible and christianity only because i was raised catholic and my country is mainly evangelical and christian, theres no big population of jews/muslims)

Some of you guys only support feminism because it allows you to shit on religion and it's SO obvious when you're confronted with women that are actually involved in religion. I've said the same thing a million times about LGBT rights and I'll say it again about feminism, idgaf 🤷🏻‍♀️

reminder that anti-theism is not cool or edgy or progressive. being against religion in its entirety is not a good thing. you're allowed to be critical of religions, you're allowed to not like religions, you're obviously allowed to be atheist, but you CANNOT claim that religion as a whole is evil. religion is extremely human and natural, it's been around as long as humans have. I stand by Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, and countless others.
wanting to rid society of religion is genocide. anti-theism is racist, Indigenous discrimination, antisemitic, islamophobic, sinophobic, colonialist, and it blatantly goes against human rights. everyone have the right to think freely and subscribe to whichever beliefs they like, religious or not.
on this blog we support religious people, especially religious queers. I stand with you, and you are welcome in this community 💜
