Happy WBW! Do you have any in-lore/universe holidays for your WIP? If so, what are they and how did you come up with them? (Bonus, do you have a favorite?)

I haven't put a lot of thought into holidays, yet, but I'm sure there are a plethora of religious ones that celebrate significant Seerish dates and have become nationalized without regard for non-believing minorities. Imo Holidays are kind of hard in fantasy, because either they leave the reader wondering if they're just reskinned Christmas (or Veterans day or St Patrick's Day or whatever), and then wondering about the historical implications behind the similarities, OR the reader has no emotional attachment to or cultural understanding of them at all, and you either have to put waaaaay more effort into developing them than you otherwise would (to the point of making the story about a holiday, maybe), or just let them serve as a plot device (explaining crowded streets, forced gatherings, societal expectations, that kind of thing).

If I ever do include a holiday in this story, it's probably going to be so I can talk about how weird it is to experience Christmas when you're not Christian anymore. To experience Christmas going on around you when you no longer believe or feel ANY of what you once did. The search to reclaim celebratory space, the search to reclaim meaning, without just re-icing the cake and calling it different, ya know? And the struggle to find that meaning without it being exclusively reactionary. Not feeling like you need a cake cuz other people have one around this time. Not having a cinnamon roll to distract yourself from the fact that you used to have cake.

Anyways. Holidays are obviously a strange, bittersweet subject for me, something I don't have a lot of connection to, that I didn't, even before. 🤷🏽 I guess that's its own answer.

I genuinely don't know if you'll have any more information than me on this but I also don't know who else to ask: Do you know if minors are allowed to attend the Ineffable Con AntichristMAS? Also, what happens cos the information is kinda vague. It says there are games and we can chat with other fans but can we just join and vibe in the background. I completely understand if you have none of this information but I really want to go but also my brain is overactive and worries about things.
