New episode up! How do you measure a tape? Once upon a time we had to drag a chain across a field uphill both ways. But now with the modern convenience of a vintage or antique tape measure, we know precisely how long all our tapes are.

Yeah, same! I've been here since supermega and the reason why I've held on so long is your style, ability to thoroughly look at a story, and just you general awesome creativity. Because of that, I get really excited when you put all this together in making docs. Even if I only get to see them for two weeks. Fun fact: I have a of named Moira now!
So yeah, can't wait to hear whatever little ideas you have about puppyguard that might pop up :D
AHHH OMFGGGG i forgot abt moira.. my little ex circus troupe antique shop ocs ... hold on i still have some pics of em

This is quite possibly the funniest passage of a book I’ve ever read/listened to
“who was one of those characters in society who hold most dreadful opinions” I’m going to choke !!!!

The Pink-Eyed Beauty
carte de visite, 4 x 2.5 inches, circa 1884
photographer: Chas. Eisenmann, 229 Bowery, New York
Due to their strange appearance, albinos were frequently featured in the sideshow. This young albino girl sits with a book in her lap and upon something that looks like a haystack, or perhaps a faux grassy hillock.
This must have been taken during one of Charles Eisenmann’s pastoral phases. This same prop appears in other photographs taken by Eisenmann around 1884 — where it usually appears on the floor in an attempt at a rustic motif — so that is my best guess as to the date of this portrait.

When I was helping out at a library I remember I was shelving some stuff in the large text section, and I found a mystery book that I was interested in, but didn't get around to checking out at that time. It was one of those cutesy murder mystery books where the main character is Just Some Nosy Lady, and I can't remember if it was in a series, but I'm guessing it was. For this book in particular the premise was that she needed to solve the mystery very quickly because she was 8 months pregnant with twins and could have to go to the hospital at any moment.
Funny premise. I forgot the title, so I googled around and found...a whole bunch of murder mystery series where the detectives are just pregnant? Some of them are just a part of a regular mystery series and they just happen to have a book focused on the MC getting pregnant but there was a whole series called "Expectant Detectives"??
I think it would be funny if it was just the same 1 or 2 main characters and people are like God Damn It Can You Stop Getting Pregnant but I'm pretty sure it's just an anthology of other characters or all the murders relate to, like, a midwife or something.
Anyway I still can't find the old book I was looking for which sucks b/c it seems delightful.

Last surviving photographs from the secretive De La Cruz family. Mexico, 1910s-20s.
The following documents were smuggled out by Adrián de la Cruz, a disowned relative. According to him, the thing in the photo is who the family called "Tío Alfredo".

shout out to high school "reverse bicurious" "cis woman" me who just thought trans people in antiquity were fascinating and did my Latin IA on trans/gnc romans so now when I'm making lesson plans for my actual job teaching about gay and trans romans i literally just have a document from 2016 called "Gender links" that cites whole books with relevant quotes and summaries and even better, my own translations of primary sources.
thank you pre-burnout me!!!! for doing the leg work as an "ally"!!!!

A snippet from this 2015 Radio 6 interview where Russell talks a little about a piece of glassware. Alas I do not have an image of the piece in question, as it is no longer on the website.
