If it Does Rain
Fandom: Twilight Pairing: Jasper Hale x GN!Reader Summary: Jasper is worried about what could happen to you if Edward and Bella's budding relationship goes wrong. Words: 809 (drabble) Note: This is an old piece from years ago. I believe it came from a request for one of my previous writing blogs. It's pretty bad—I like to believe I have improved since then—but I figure we can just laugh at it together.
Tumblr media
The Cullen-Hale family were not the only ones watching with rapt interest—interest which ranged from anger to excitement to concern—as Edward crossed the parking lot with the new girl tucked under his arm. Everyone found the sight fascinating and could not seem to pry their stares away from the unlikely couple to maintain even just a shred of their own decency.
You didn't have to be within hearing distance to know what Bella had just whispered to him, so soft and quiet as to not draw any more attention (as though there was any left to give). The warm color rising to her face would have been a key giveaway if you hadn't known her well enough to just know.
She was your sister, after all.
Your focus drifted away from them in response to the increasing tension radiating from the body at your side. A frown tugged at your mouth as you looked to your boyfriend, who had gone completely rigid with something other than the fight for control that consumed him every minute he was forced to be around his "peers." It worried you what might have been going through his mind as he watched his youngest brother hold open his car door for your fragile, human sister.
You reached over the console and took his hand in yours, gently. Of course, it wouldn't have mattered much had you gripped it hard enough to bruise—the bruises would have adorned your hand. A side effect of such a supernatural existence and stat of being that the Olympic Coven (and others around the globe) lived.
"You're worried," you observed.
Jasper sat still as the marble he looked to be sculpted of. Behind the tinted windows, he was safe from prying eyes who might have thought to follow in your footsteps and dig deeper into the Cullen-Hale enigma than they should (and subsequently be faced with a far less desirable outcome than you). The only witnesses were you and his family.
After a moment, he squeezed your hand and looked to you, a half-hearted smirk tipping his perfect lips up at the corner. "I thought I was the empath."
His deeply instilled Southern drawl made your heart flutter. It had ever since the first time you'd heard it, and you didn't think it would ever not hold the same effect over you so long as your heart was still beating. But his attempt to lighten the air—a wave of calm reassurance flowed into your mind, chipping away at the tension which ate at the edges of your soul—did not erase the consternation sinking in his deep gaze.
"I don't need special abilities to know when you're upset—and yours aren't going to make me feel any better until you've talked to me."
Jasper dented his forehead in frustration. He never wanted to be the reason for anything but your happiness and safety. His habit of shutting you out of his problems he still thought aided that, as he didn't relish the idea of you having even more burden to bear, but he knew you hated when he did.
You arched a brow at his momentary silence and slowly rubbed your thumb over his sculpted knuckles.
He sighed and leaned back in the driver's seat, two actions performed more out of habit than of need. His fingers curled around the steering wheel until the leather started to strain under the pressure.
"If they end badly," he said, "it all ends badly."
Jasper gently removed his hand from under yours to start the car. The engine rumbled to life as the meaning behind his words vibrated between you. It took a lot of restraint not to roll your eyes at his incessant paranoia that he had always displayed when vulnerable and alone with you.
You managed to keep your soft expression because you knew why he worried so much. As the newest "vegetarian," as Dr. Cullen dubbed their lifestyle, he struggled tremendously with keeping his bloodlust in control. His biggest fear was losing it and killing someone, killing you, and putting his family at risk again.
Taking your respectful silence, he pulled from the parking lot and elaborated vaguely, "A lot could go wrong, and if anythin' does... Them bein' together just puts a lot at stake."
"So do we," you countered, "but we're making it work. We should give Bella and Edward the same chance."
You leaned in and kissed his cheek before resting your head on his shoulder. He entwined your fingers and held your hand on your thigh. The silence cocooned the two of you, leaving nothing but the smooth engine to fill the void.
Jasper then lifted your locked hands and kissed the back of yours. "I just don't wanna lose you. I can't."
"You won't. I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere."

Fellas, I haven’t written a post like this in five years, and I hoped I’d never have to, but here we are. Recently I’ve been seeing a couple posts in the Slay the Princess tag spreading negativity: complaining about certain characters getting more attention and different treatment, implying rather serious things about people who prefer one character over the others, generally trying to start drama. (That is what I assume the posts are meant to do, since I would hope everyone remembers that if you don’t have anything nice to say...) The topic of community within this fandom is very important to me so I feel it’s necessary to give a very gentle reminder of what the game is all about.
Attempting to shame other people for focusing on specific characters is horribly inappropriate. The game only has three characters, and there’s not much room to ignore any of them given their importance to the story. If people love the Princess, that’s because she’s literally in the title of the game; if people love the Long Quiet, that’s because they are an expression of you as the player; if people love the voices and the Narrator, that’s because they act as your companions throughout the game.
I’m really glad that most of us appreciate all the characters! But you cannot expect every single person to have the exact same opinions about every character. We all come from different walks of life and we will all have our own specific reasons for loving a certain character more or less. Whether you understand these reasons or you’re making general assumptions about why they’re particularly drawn to them, it isn’t okay to be rude about it. As the saying goes: “don’t yuck someone else’s yum.”
It truly makes me sad to see that, considering this game is about perspectives (especially perspectives that conflict), some Slay the Princess fans refuse to extend the courtesy of hearing someone out- and, barring that, leaving them alone. Seriously, if something bothers you there’s a block button!
There is, of course, nuance; if you’re speaking with a friend group in private and everyone has explicitly stated this kind of behavior is acceptable, then have at it. My problem is when people do it to random strangers- they are not engaging in fandom to listen to others rag on about them and insinuate things like misogyny and misandry.
Kindness is free, don’t forget to like and subscribe, etc.

I have no idea what this is but I decided to write down my grand theory of Star Wars and how authorship affects the ways in which stories are good and bad? Come for media critique, stay for the analogy at the very end about how Star Wars is like college, also there's gifs
The original trilogy is a series of derivative works. That's not a pejorative, but a description of their content and structure; they are constructions that use existing pieces to tell a new story. They are samurai movies, they are meditations on Joseph Campbell. They are the work of a film nerd trying to create a story that is Everything. There's nothing novel about the storytelling of the original trilogy; it was just particularly well executed, because they were made with love by a craftsman, surrounded by a team who kept him from giving in to the worst of his narrative excesses (most notably but not limited to Marcia Lucas).
There's a lot of No Reason in the original trilogy. Why's Darth Vader so strong in the Force? No reason. It doesn't have time to delicately explain everything, so it relies on the audience's understanding of the shape of the story to fill in the gaps. It's the time in the story for someone to fall in love, so a romance plotline it shall be. The author is trying to do something, and he successfully does it.
Tumblr media
The prequel trilogy represents an older creator for whom derivative works were not enough, who had been creatively stifled by the very thing he created. (I strongly recommend Patrick H Willems's series about Frances Ford Coppola if you want a really interesting take on George Lucas and the tragedy of his career.) Extremely importantly, they represent a creator with almost unlimited cash and no one to tell him to tone it down.
Everything that is bad about the prequel trilogy is because they were made with a vision by a creator who was trying to do something. George Lucas has six hours and fifty-eight minutes of material prepared about diplomacy, representative democracy, and how all unchecked power is always all bad and by god we are all gonna sit here until he finishes it. The writing is so clunky because it is not there to build character or relationships; it is there to convey information. The sequences with the Gungans are such a mess because they're the injection of (very inadvisable) comic relief into a story that is not supposed to have any relief at all.
One of the worst sins of the prequel trilogy is the rejection of No Reason. It continually poses questions that do not need answers and then takes pains to answer them. Why's Darth Vader so strong in the Force? His mother conceived him as a virgin birth because of the Force, by way of midichlorians, which as we all know are the powerhouse of the cell. It is such a deeply unsatisfying answer, but George Lucas seems incredibly sincere about the fact that this is important. He is trying to position his derivative work within a new fandom context that conceives of his work as wholly original, and the wild thing is, I think George Lucas always thought all of this and just wasn't allowed to put it in. Improbably, the problem is not that he hasn't thought enough about his own lore, as a common charge goes; he appears to have thought about it way too much.
I have to confess to not being a prequel trilogy fan, but probably the single biggest thing to come out of it is Obi-Wan. Ewan McGregor almost instantly became the canonical version of the character. It's because the same thing that made it bad also made it good. It's a story that is trying to do something, and that is opening wide an almost Stendhal-syndrome-esque array of locations and people and stories. Fuck yes I want to hear everything about the person Alec Guinness used to be when he was young and badass, tell me everything about the weird desert guy. Of course I wanna go to Space Italy and see what the galaxy was like before it got dicked up. Sinister rise to power of Darth Vader's master? Check. Seeing the evil enemy built as a series of actions is the shit prequels are made for.
When the prequel trilogy is boring, it's because the pacing is fucking awful, especially in Revenge of the Sith. The dizzying array of new stuff is never boring, and you can all fight me on Kamino being one of the best planets in the whole series. When it's good to be in George Lucas's mind palace, it's extremely good. For better or worse, he did it. He gave his almost seven hour lecture, he said what he had to say, and he left.
Tumblr media
And then we move forwards in time, into an era of Star Wars as a strategy rather than a story.
(I didn't see Solo, so it's not gonna be in here. Neither are any of the TV shows or the EU, because I have other shit to do with my life.)
The Force Awakens was not the first Star Wars film that was made by someone else; the authorship of The Empire Strikes Back is complicated- George Lucas kind of managed to ghostwrite his own movie?- but he definitely didn't direct it. Empire was very much still a Lucas production in which he was intimately involved.
The Force Awakens has a point, but it ultimately doesn't do anything.
It resets everything back to the start: an evil empire represented by British people in suits come to power; three heroes arise; a mentor who's incredibly important apparently despite only knowing the heroes for five minutes is murdered by a cloaked Force user; something is blown up. It is meant to stoke the fires of nostalgia, and it provides nothing substantive in terms of plot. In fact, it represents a retrograde movement. It is a very fun watch and a movie with absolutely nothing to say, at least nothing that wasn't written into the series thirty years beforehand.
It's not a surprise that, since it's just meant to get people hype and then serve them what they already know, the best thing it provided were its new characters. I was so stoked to see a Black person in a Star Wars movie; we got three new main characters and not a white man among them?? But let's fuckin' table that shit, because we all know what's coming.
Tumblr media
[I was gonna put in a Kylo Ren gif but he looked like such a dipshit in all of them, you're welcome]
Actually I lied, I forgot that what came next was Rogue One. The purpose of the film is to make a war movie about Star Wars and like many/most war films, what the movie is trying to do is meditate on the duality created by the futility of war and the value of sacrifice, it fills in a blank in canon but is really a tone piece meant to make you have feelings and reflect, I watched it once and it was so touching and horrible that I've never been able to watch it again, 10/10 no notes
Tumblr media
And then we have The Last Jedi, which is weird.
The Last Jedi represents a step back to a craftsman at the helm, and the exact same shit happened again.
It shouldn't have, because it happened again in a completely different way! The Last Jedi is a singular vision with one creative direction, and that is the cause of everything that is bad and everything that is good about it, but Rian Johnson wanted to do something radically different than George Lucas. He's not interested in giving you his Star Wars lecture; he's interested in breaking Star Wars open, thrusting it bodily in a new direction. The Last Jedi represents at least as much movement as The Empire Strikes Back.
So it's not like a shock that the movie was wildly divisive, and lists of the best and worst things are the same items shuffled around. I honestly think Admiral Holdo's death is the finest moment in the entire trilogy, in terms of visuals and in terms of emotional impact. I fuckin' love that Luke was sitting on PTSD Island sulking, because it's some Luke shit to do. "Let the past die. Kill it if you have to" got me HYPE to see where this would go. I wanted to go on that ride. I've loved Star Wars since I was a tiny child, and I wanted to go on a journey into something that was entirely fresh.
Other people hated all of these things, and honestly in this case, I don't agree but I can't say they're wrong. Wanting Rose to be deleted from the series simply for using oxygen is racist. Wanting Snoke to have had more impact on the story is a difference of opinion. Either you were interested in this ride or you weren't, and you're not a bad person for not wanting that out of your Star Wars.
But on the other hand, it's not a very good movie.
The problems that make it not very good are the result of having one guy at the wheel. It's clumsily made. It feels like it ends three times before it actually does. The Canto Bight sequences are the work of someone who doesn't want them to be in there, and somebody who could play ball would have finessed the story to make them organic. Some of the CGI work represents a lapse in professional judgment. The Force dyad stuff does not make any sense at all, because it plays like somebody who couldn't really explain a thing they were doing but refuses to stop doing it.
It's so good when it's good. I just wish it had had another screenwriter who could have fixed what was bad.
Tumblr media
I didn't care for Rise of Skywalker.
By the time it came out, I was experiencing a kind of numbness surrounding Star Wars; not literally, because I got my tattoos finished up just before it came out. I didn't have any idea what was about to happen. There were a lot of rumors circulating about the extent to which things had gotten rewritten, but it was pretty clear that whatever it was going to be was fully an Abrams/Disney thing.
And indeed, this time, they did make a movie that tried to do something. Extremely unfortunately, what the movie was trying to do was reinforce the status quo. It did this on every level- Holdo's sacrifice was made meaningless, the minuscule amount of queer content was palatably deletable, a woman of color's lines were given to a white man who was buddies with the director, the story reverted from "everyone's a Star Wars" to "there are only four people in the galaxy who matter", Poe's awesome storyline from the comics was thrust aside for a frankly kind of racist replacement, every bit of story development from TLJ was cast aside. There are no consequences for anything, because all that matters is moving to the end of the story; I cannot believe that absolute motherfucker made me watch Chewbacca die with my own eyeballs just to wave it away literally two minutes later in the clumsiest way imaginable. In the prequel trilogy, in Rogue One, in TLJ, everything everyone does matters so much. The minutest actions have huge consequences. In Rise of Skywalker, nothing matters even a little bit. Everybody just waits around for the main characters to get finished dicking around.
I cannot believe that it's a thing I would possibly think ever, but the only thing that got any work put into it was Kylo and Rey's relationship. Trust: I didn't enjoy watching it. There's a piece of Wishful Drinking where Carrie Fisher and Billie Lourd are trying to figure out if Billie is related to the guy she's dating, due to a bunch of Hollywood marriages. Even after the shitstupid reveal of Rey's parentage, it still really, really feels like the same vibe. But by the time they kissed, I was like, "Yeah, I mean I hate it but I see where it happened."
Tumblr media
Star Wars is like the end of a semester in college. The prequel trilogy is the period where you're studying, trying to cram so much stuff into your brain that you're never gonna remember. The original trilogy is exams, exhilarating and rocky but ultimately liberating.
The sequel trilogy is the party you go to afterwards. At 10 PM you're at The Force Awakens, singing along at the top of your lungs to a song that's catchy and doesn't have to be good. At midnight you're at Rogue One, where you break down sobbing in the bathroom. The Last Jedi is 2 AM, weird and full of promise, as if anything could happen.
The Rise of Skywalker is 11 AM the next day, when you've already broken down the details at brunch and are now lying in bed unable to nap, with the horrible certainty that this is all there is, you will never be more than yourself, just a regular person who carries no special importance.
I didn't like it in real life; I sure didn't want it from Star Wars.

I love Plasticity, and how organically (no pun intended) it flows. Do you have any tips for writing a SI fic?
oh hmm here's some tips (i might come back with more later):
HAVE FUN. by this i mean: write what you want to read. i think sometimes the general fandom attitude is that writers should cater to their readership, and readers will get especially weird about SIs. this is nonsense. SIs are the most self-indulgent form of writing. write for you.
notice when you're not having fun anymore. If you're making yourself miserable trying to piece together a comprehensive theory of chakra.... just don't? you don't need to.
sometimes i see people lament their day jobs aren't interesting enough to be useful to writing fic. then they'll be like "if only i was a scientist or a lawyer or something." this is WRONG WRNG WRONG. the average day of a scientist is super boring. i do write a lot about science but i do, in fact, have to bend over backwards to make it fit in the setting. i have to work hard to figure out how to make it interesting. you could do this with any profession. i promise there's a way to make processing POs for a ninja village interesting, or waitressing in a ninja village, or being a door to door knife salesman. PLEASE tell me about getting a summer job selling knives to ninja.
writing SIs usually involves making a bunch of world building decisions. in theory, anything goes here. but i do recommend taking a few minutes to reflect on how the real world equivalent of whatever thing works and why. this will help you make decisions that will feel realistic to readers and also help you feel out realistic consequences. for example, i'm not saying you need to take a wilderness survival course to write an overnight mission, but i AM saying it would be really funny if your genin OC accidentally attracted a bear
if you find your SI thinking, "why doesn't everyone just do this?" then HAVE AN ANSWER. are there consequences to doing it that way your SI hasn't considered? ARE people doing this but SI just hasn't realized? are there other, more popular solutions? does your SI have some advantage other people don't-- money, support from an OP mentor, a special skill/special training, etc? personally i don't find "no one has thought of this yet" or "my SI is just smarter" to be very compelling explanations UNLESS the narrative has done the work of hyping up why the SI thinks differently.
sometimes i see readers complaining they only want OP characters if they're "justified." i think if you want to write an OP character, you should just write one, but I also think it's worth touching on what "justified" means, because i find people making such complaints do not understand what their own problem is. they mean they want sufficient narrative build-up to whatever OP skill, and for the OPness to feel organic within the world of Naruto. if, for example, your character's backstory is that itachi keeps sneaking back into the village to train them, then you need to put in some time to explaining why the hell he would do that, because it sounds insane. the more insane it sounds, the more care and time you'll likely have to put into it. like you don't need ten chapters about their childhood, but you'll probably need a scene or two to illustrate their close friendship or whatever the reason is.
don't be like me. don't write 15k word chapters. you will cry blood

ㅤWhether you've been a K-pop fan for a shorter or longer time, you may be acquainted and familiar with fansites. They are well-known and common within fandom spaces, especially (but not solely) of Korean idols, and mindfulness when consuming content originating from them is something that we have already brought up a year ago, when ENHYPEN started to actually see a bigger influx of accounts actively dedicated to sharing HD content of them — be it for a specific member or the whole group — as they started their first overseas tour.
ㅤOur concerns back then were brought up because we wanted ENGENEs to be mainly aware of fansites that had malicious intentions — also known as sasaeng fans, or simply sasaengs. And being wary of the content we consume and who we engage with is important. ENHYPEN, through the short course of their 3 years of activity as a group, has already had to deal with several uncomfortable situations involving mobbing in places such as airports, stalking, selling of private flight and personal contact informations, and general innapropriate behavior towards them. In the most recent event, which took place on a Weverse live, Heeseung expressed discomfort towards unknown numbers — potentially sasaengs — constantly calling him as he talked to fans.
ㅤWith the strong sense of belief that we, as fans, play a big part on making sure the artists we wholeheartedly support don't have their privacy and personal space disrespected, ENHYPENET has curated a list with names and Twitter / X handles of fansites who we deem unsafe — fansites who have, in one way or another, disrespected the artists' boundaries. We have created a spreadsheet and a mobile-friendly list on our site, with the spreadsheet having more details about the users — from the basic information such as their names and handles, to specific details such as activity status, the member they are focused on, their watermark for easier identifying, to the most important: the reason why you should not consume their content.
ㅤThe list was created in mind mainly with our gifmakers in mind, as a guide to refer to when you decide to gif videos originating from fansites, but this list goes to and should be read by all fans, as we encourage. Our network will strictly not queue content that comes from the fansites we have listed, and our decision is final — meaning we won't be removing any names from there, nor will we entertain any conversation or messages in defense of any fansite we named.

It had been a few months since Aziraphale left to become the Archangel of heaven, and Crowley was hit hard. You don't know exactly what happened, but you know it was bad. Crowley wanted to up and abandon the bookshop all together, but you couldn't exactly be left alone with Muriel. You love her, but she cannot take care of a human, let alone a teenager. As much as it pained Crowley, he stayed in the shop with you, because he was living in his car and he didn't wanna have you do that too. You've tried to contact Aziraphale a handful of times, but it only worked once. He was on call for 30 seconds and you made him promise to come home for Christmas before the line cut out and you had to give up. Its now December 22, and you're awaiting Aziraphales arrival any minute. You mailed him a phone for Christmas, with your number attached to a note, but he isn't allowed to have contact with earth, so he's been discreetly texting you. Since he's Archangel, he can technically do what he wants, but the higher ups dislike when he tries to check in on earth. The only reason he was even allowed to be here in the first place was because he lied about wanting to study human emotion during the holiday. Well, not exactly a lie, he has to study your emotion to be able to pass his trip off as work. You hadn't told Crowley yet, because you didn't know how he'd react, but you also couldn't let Aziraphale be a surprise because that felt wrong. You had finished sorting some books and decorating the house when you walked into the room to tell your father figure the news.
"Pa..??" You asked warily. He looks up at you and raises an eyebrow, signalling you to talk.
"Uhm....you know how its Christmas n all???" You say, and he looks confused.
"Yeah...?" He says.
"Uhhh...." You squeeze your eyes shut. "Can I invite my friend over??" You practically shout. Of course you chickened out, how could you tell him that the love of his life, who left him for a place he doesn't even like that much, was coming back within the hour? He nods slowly.
"Is that it? Of course you can." He takes a sip of the drink in his hand. You nod and excuse yourself, inviting your friend Ivory over like you said you would.
"Hey Ivy!" You said into the house phone.
"What do you need y/n?" She said.
"Wanna come over today? Its gonna be kinda a Christmas party, but not really."
"Oh sure, let me get ready and I'll be over."
"Kay!"
A little while later, you started pacing around the house, awaiting Aziraphales arrival. You had this feeling in your stomach that made you feel sick. Anxiety.
"What are you all uptight for?" Crowley asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Uhhhh..." You say, avoiding eye contact and wringing your hands together. You let out a deep breath. "Aziraphale is coming over.." You say, looking up for a quick second. Something flashes across Crowley's features, but he notices how scared you are and he just nods.
"Okay.." He replies, and goes back to downing his drink. You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding and nod. You have such relief that it takes everything in you not to cry.
"Thanks pa.." You say, your voice wavering. He waves you off and you leave.
You have finally finished setting up when your friend arrives. You run to open the door and see Ivory standing there with a plate of brownies and cookies in her hands.
"Aw Ivy, you didn't have to bring anything!" You say, carefully taking the plate from he hands and inviting her in.
"Its fine, I never come to a party empty handed." She replies. You give her a tour of the bookshop and then introduce her to Crowley.
"This is Cro-...Anthony.." You tell her. She walks up to shake his hand.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Ivory." She says. He nods in acknowledgement and starts walking around, inspecting the bookshop. You walk up to Aziraphales gramophone and put on a Christmas Classics record. The first song is Jingle Bell Rock, and you and Ivory start dancing to it. Crowley walks in on you guys vibing, and an odd expression crosses his face before he leaves you be.
After a few songs, there's a knock on the door. You and Crowley both look at each other for a fraction of a second before you're rushing towards the door. You rip it open and throw your arms around Aziraphale and buring your face in his neck. He starts laughing and pats your back.
"I missed you too, Y/n."
You pull back and really look at his face. He looks tired, and he's grown a beard since he's been gone. He steps inside and you introduce him to Ivory. You show him all the decorations you put up, and you then lead him to the living room to show him the Christmas tree. He enters the living room and glances at Crowley. They share a lingering gaze before he snaps out of it and turns his attention towards the tree.
"Its breathtaking, dear." He says while smiling down at you. You nod and smile.
"Thanks, dad." He hugs you again and looks around.
"Wheres Muriel?" He asks.
"She went back to heaven for the week." Crowley replies.
"Oh.." Aziraphale says. The tension between them is obvious, and you guys sit in silence for a little bit before Ivory comes in and starts pulling you up.
"COME ON. THEY'RE PLAYING THE SONG!!" She shouts. You stumble to your feet as she keeps tugging on your arm.
"WHAT SONG???" You yell, startled. Aziraphale chuckles at your antics and stands up.
"I can move the gramophone in here, if you'd like." He says.
"Yes please!!!" You and Ivory say in unison.
He snaps his fingers and suddenly the gramophone is on a table in the main room. Ivory's eyes grow wide and Aziraphale seems to notice what he's done, because he starts stammering and trying to make excuses. Crowley rolls his eyes, and Ivory chuckles.
"Its fine, Mr. Fell. Y/n told me all about how you did magician work in your spare time." Ivory states and winks at you. Crowley groans at the mention of magic and Aziraphale smiles brightly. Aziraphale looks at you.
"Why of course she did! My magic is stage worthy. I once performed at the West End!" He boasts. Ivory feigns a surprised gasp.
"Oh my!! Thats incredible! Did the crowd throw roses?" She says, smiling. Aziraphales face falters for a moment, recalling the blank stares and boos, but nods nonetheless.
"Of course!! I'm one of the greatest, after all." He's practically shining. The song has long been forgotten, you and Ivory chat with Aziraphale for a while. Crowley stares longingly, but pretends to drink anytime Aziraphale looks over.
Soon enough, you've all been chatting and eating for an hour or so. Crowley has been unusually quiet, and Aziraphale has not spoken a word about him or heaven since he arrived. You grab Aziraphales hand and place him right next to Crowley.
"Stay. Don't even think about moving, I'm gonna grab something really quick."
"Y/n-" He starts, but you've already grabbed Ivory and dragged her away. He and Crowley sit in silence for a moment, before Crowley speaks up.
"So hows the big fancy office job? Better than down here?" Crowley asks. Aziraphale immediately spins to face him, word vomiting his concerns.
"I hate it! Well, hate is a strong word, but I hate itt!! I miss you and Y/n. It's stressful and the angels are prideful pompous jerks. Metatron is always on my ass for something or another, Micheal never shuts up about 'restarting Armageddon' At this point I think I miss Gabriel too." He sputters out. Crowley looks at him starstruck.
"...You miss me..??" He asks. Aziraphale turns red and scratches his cheek.
"Well of course I do, you're my closest friend." Aziraphale replies, and Crowley can't help but chuckle.
"Yeah, friend." He mutters. He looks over to Aziraphale and gives him a hard stare. "You aren't forgiven." He says. Aziraphale looks confused for a moment before his eyes go wide with realization.
"O-oh! Of course not! I- I mean.. I haven't even apologized or anything." He turns away, takes one of Crowley's hands and starts tracing little star patterns on it. "But I am sorry. Really sorry. And I obviously miss you." He says. Crowley blushes, but pulls his hand away anyway.
"Its gonna take more than that you know." Crowley practically spits. Aziraphale flinches and looks like he's about to cry, but nods and smiles anyway.
"I know. I know." He whispers that last part, and almost stands up to leave before the girls come rushing back in. They're holding four hot chocolates, each one having marshmallows and candy canes in them.
"We have hot coco!!!!!!!" You yell. You quickly walk over to them and hand them each a drink. Crowley waves his hand.
"I don't want any, thanks." He says blandly.
"TAKE IT." You spat. Not in a mean way, but in a 'I'm going to kick you so hard if you don't' way. Crowley nods, holding back a smile, and takes it. Aziraphale chuckles at your antics and sips his coco.
You and Ivory drink and snack for a little while, when Last Christmas starts playing. Ivory quickly pulls you to your feet, and you guys start singing.
"LAST CHRISTMAS I GAVE YOU MY HEART!!" You sing
"BUT THE VERY NEXT DAY, YOU GAVE IT AWAY!!" She sings back.
"THIS YEAR, TO SAVE ME FROM TEARS, I'LL GIVE IT TO SOMEONE SPECIAL!!!" You guys sing together. Crowley and Aziraphale exchange a look, before going back to watching you two. You guys do this for a while, before the lyrics change to something that hits too close to home.
"Wrapped up a gift and sent it, with a note saying I love you, I MEANT IT!! Now I know what a fool I've been, but if you kiss me now I know you'll fool me again!!!" You guys sing together. Aziraphale looks directly at Crowley this time, and grabs his hand. Crowley looks at him and they both stare at each other's lips for a second, before Aziraphale cups his face with his hand, and pulls him in for a tender kiss. You and Ivory stand there start struck, before you guys turn up the music and pretend you didn't see anything. Crowley leans into the kiss and grabs Aziraphales face. They quickly pull away after about thirty seconds. Crowley glares at Aziraphale, but makes no move to get away or wipe the kiss off his face. Crowley tears up a little bit and kisses Aziraphale again, just a peck this time, and moves away.
"You still aren't completely forgiven yet." Crowley huffs, and Aziraphale just laughs.
"Well, I'll just have to spend all my waking hours making it up to you then. I'll tell Metatron I quit, and pray he doesn't kill me in return." He says. Crowley smiles and gives him another peck.
"Lets go to Alpha Centuri sometime, yeah?" He asks. Aziraphale smiles too.
"Yeah."

Hi I’m a new critter and I love your account and both your meta and your takes on “drama” I genuinely want to know (if you don’t mind saying of course) what you consider to be the most egregious, bad faith cr take that you’ve ever seen. I just like reading your criticism because it’s both incredibly articulate and smart but also very satisfying
Hi anon,
Thank you! I do have to say this is a difficult question with a boring answer but I'll give you a tangential one as well to make up for it.
Obviously, the misogyny and death threats in C1 are the worst! Anything that rises to the combination of structural oppression and literal death threats is going to be the worst, even before you factor in how utterly tiny the stakes were here (and, frankly, you shouldn't factor that in; doesn't matter what the cause is, big or small! Do not send death threats!)
The reason I tend not to talk about that is because there's very little to say. It's misogynistic death threats. That's awful, inexcusable, and dangerous in any context. But if someone doesn't understand how terrible this is, I don't think I can say anything to add to that.
Anyway because that was true, but obvious and not terribly revealing, I have been thinking a lot about mean-spiritedness in the fandom and I'll talk about that here. It's something I try to be cognizant of, because here's the thing: I talk a lot of shit. I'm aware I talk a lot of shit. There's many reasons why I talk a lot of shit. But I do try very hard not to be mean-spirited. I think there is a very clear distinction between criticism, even harsh criticism, of things you don't like, whether it's in execution, concept, or they just aren't to your taste; and mean-spiritedness, which is much more based in a desire to do harm to others.
I think again the example I've mentioned recently of people harassing Liam until he took a song off a Caleb character playlist is the pinnacle. This doesn't have any real goal re: criticism - it doesn't address an issue with the character nor the narrative and the only personal preference it reveals is "I, a random fan, don't like that this song was used in this context" which is not really relevant and you can skip it. Harassment is never justified, and even behavior that skirted harassment really served only to be a dick to Liam. It didn't have a single result other than "Liam takes the song off and feels kind of bad for a while," which I suspect was in fact the goal for most people, and that's pretty abhorrent.
Harsh criticism is not necessarily constructive, but it is with the intent to reveal - either a personal preference, or what you believe to be a flaw (structural, thematic, etc) within the story. It might not have a goal - personal preference really is just "I don't like this guy" and that's fine. Mean-spiritedness, however, exists just to spew bile and do harm.
So the following (most of which are paraphrased, but all are things I've personally seen on Tumblr alone, and nearly all are from the last year or so) aren't per se the most egregious or bad-faith takes, but they are absolutely mean-spirited. They have all destroyed my estimation of the people saying them for the most part beyond repair, and in many cases, if they have not hurt my estimation of the ship or character they were intending to support, they have certainly increased my estimation of the things they were intending to oppose. (And it goes without saying: any harassment - any - is automatically mean-spirited).
"I hope Fjord and Jester have divorced [author's note: they were not married] and I hope it hurt."
"I hope Caleb and that floaty fuck have broken up by the solstice."
"I hate Ashton, and Campaign 3 wouldn't be any different if they weren't there."
"My wishlist for this episode is that Chetney hits on Fearne and Ashton cockblocks him"
"I hope Fearne makes that robot eat his stupid coin"
"I'm not surprised that Yasha missed, because Yasha is bad at everything."
"Funny how Vex goes against her husband but does everything that Keyleth says" [Author's note: later proved to be hilariously untrue]
"No one cares about Travis's characters."
"Oh, Liam meant that Essek's own guilt would still exist by 'It won't help the inside?' I thought he was just being a fucking twat."
I think some people go into fandom not because they want to talk about characters, but because they see it as an opportunity to hit someone. I think some people believe they are entitled to a "win" (not normal to want nor possible to achieve and often less about the story and more about the fandom agreeing with them) and will engage in any tactic no matter how underhanded if they don't think they're getting it. That's what mean-spiritedness is in the end. It's not a single opinion, and often it goes under the radar compared to more stupid but less clearly unpleasant takes - a lot of the above didn't result in a ton of discourse because most people see these and rightfully go "oh that person is a tar pit" and block them - but it's certainly, outside of bigotry (which is also frequently also mean-spirited) - the most bad-faith approach to fandom on the whole.

Hey!
Could we get more about the yandere whitebeard crew?. I could imagine that if the whitebeard crew had any female members that they would be more protected of them. They just look like a crew that if a marine attacks one of they female members then they would get double attacked. Whitebeard goes into protect girl dad mode if they get attacked
I also feel like if they do have female members then there is probably one that is like a big sister to the rest of the girls. We're all the other girls can talk to her.
Btw sorry for my bad English.^^
First of all mi vida, I think your English is very good, I'm not an expert in the English language either, after all my native language is Spanish (which will come in handy when I finish my drafts for Miguel O'hara fics since I will enter to the Spiderman across the spider verse fandom, I already have about 3 ocs already created for that, sorry for the spam XD I am just so excited to see that spanish is becoming more popular here), so, as for how you write, in my opinion you do it very well, goob job darling~
Second, canonically speaking, the whitebeard pirates have female members in the gang, which are the nurses, as you can see in this image.
Tumblr media
And what you say is true, Whitebeard's enemies would definitely try to attack the female members, but not just for the fact that they are women, and of course, Whitebeard, as a man of older generation, would feel the need to care of his daughters; but the truth would be more due to the fact that it is them, the nurses and the medical team, ruling out Marco, my headcanon is that the rest of the doctors and assistants are exclusively women, why? Because he believes that women are the ones who take better care of others, for the simple fact that they are women and the care and upbringing of others is within the feminine nature
I also have the headcanon, which is very possible a canon fact, that this specific pirate group rescues or finds children, takes them into their crew, and they are raised as the future members of the Whitebeard pirates, so it's very likely that , as you say, have female members in the group who have certain roles, such as the teacher, the older sister, the younger sister, the voice of reason, the woman who is in charge of the group's economy ( just as women are the ones who should be in charge of the household economy) the mother of the group etc…
and here between you and me:
Marco had a very hard training to be a doctor in Whitebeard's pirates due to the fact that he was a man, and surely many of the nurses and doctors (at that time all felame) had to beg for him so that the captain would give him a chance.
Women are definitely more favored in the pirate crew, maybe not in positions of combat power like being a commander, because that would be too dangerous and Whitebeard has generally only let women in for medical or caregiving positions or they're still children, so usually no woman has the combat skills required to be a commander, but it is the women who have more decision-making power in all other aspects, economy, travel, children, etc…
Every time there is a fight or armed conflict, either with the marines or another pirate group, there is a group with a secret commander who is in charge of transporting the women and children away from danger and bringing them back to their nakamas when it's safe

hi I saw your recent post in the tag, so um are you taking Givenson prompts? bc if you are can I request a "9. . .out of fear" from that "things you said" list please? I hope that's okay!
Hello! Thanks for the request! I am just now finding my way in the Justified fandom so I'm excited to hear from new pals.
The prompt was: "Things you said out of fear"
--
It’s the second hat Raylan has lost to a bullet, an “if I had a nickel” sort of situation if ever there was one – except that he’d been able to play down the first one pretty effectively on account of no one currently alive in Harlan County having been there to see it except Loretta.
The second time, he isn’t so lucky.
The sequence of events, as described to him afterward – they’re somewhat muddled in his own recollection, for obvious reasons – are as follows. The bullet passes through his hat, not quite clean, grazing his head. Raylan goes down, as does the fellow who took the shot (cheap, through a window while Raylan stood on the porch), because taking the shot had given him away and Tim needs less than that to punch a ticket at four hundred meters.
By the time he sits up, people are running, which is a relief because it means the situation is going to be handled by someone other than him. Getting shot in the head is no less disorienting than it had been the first time, the sort of thing where you’re scared to touch it in case it’s so much worse than you think. Tim is running, too, and he hurtles up onto the porch, one knee coming down hard on the wood so that he can hunch in and comb away the hair that’s hiding the wound spilling blood down Raylan’s face.
“Think you’re gonna live?” Tim asks, tone as even as it always is, even as his fingertips press into Raylan’s scalp, checking for himself.
“For my sins,” Raylan replies. “Ouch. Do you mind?”
“Looks okay,” Tim says, ignoring him. “Some stitches, maybe.”
Everything is a churn around them, and Raylan patiently lets an EMT with much gentler hands deal with the wound while Tim leaves the porch to congregate in a group with Art and Rachel, within eyesight. Once the bandage is in place, Raylan figures he’s got the okay to do the paperwork on this one tomorrow, and catches Tim’s eye.
They’re only just outside of Lexington, which means the drive isn’t the long slog from Harlan County, and they’re home in twenty minutes. Raylan has a hunch that Tim has a rant locked and loaded, but on the drive all he engages in is a smattering of shop talk – not uncommon for them, to be fair.
In the apartment, Raylan makes his way in the dark to the kitchen, searching out bourbon to cure what ails him. He can see Tim through the doorway to the living room out of the corner of his eye, yanking the curtains across, stopping to scratch the cat behind the ears.
Tim used to closed the curtains on Raylan’s bedroom window every time he came by, too. There aren’t any sightlines to worry about in the apartment they live in now, but it seems to be a force of habit anyway.
And then the light comes on, and Tim is leaning in the kitchen doorway.
“Shoot,” Raylan says, holding up the bottle mutely to ask if Tim wants a pour. He shakes his head.
“Don’t ask me to cover you and then do dumbass shit like stand out in the open.”
“I wasn’t doing dumbass shit,” Raylan says patiently.
“You could teach a college course in doing dumbass shit. Do you think if I wanted to live with anyone else, I’d be living with you?” Tim demands. “You use my mouthwash and you keep letting the cat out.”
“By accident.”
“The circumstances of the situation don’t matter. The cat is still outside at the end.”
Raylan is not going to smile, because Tim is clearly very serious about this, but sometimes the things that come out of Tim’s mouth are very… well, Tim. “Are you telling me not to get myself killed because I’m your last resort?”
“I’m telling you not to get shot in the head.”
He turns and vanishes from the doorway. Raylan has stopped with his glass halfway to his mouth.
“Tim.”
There’s no response, and Raylan drains his glass and follows after. He finds him in the bedroom, enacting the same routine as every night, the same things he would do in the same order no matter the circumstances: Boots, watch, clothes come off, putting on that soft, worn-in Dragonriders of Pern t-shirt and shorts, disappearing into the bathroom to brush his teeth. He always looks young in pajamas, standing at the sink with toothbrush in hand, and Raylan starts to reach for him because sometimes those odd, tense lines in his body don’t go away on their own.
“Don’t touch me,” Tim says pointedly, around his toothbrush, and Raylan redirects.
When they get into bed, sometimes Tim stays up to read while Raylan dozes next to him, but tonight he braces up on his elbow and turns off the light. There might be forty-five seconds of silence, and then Tim rolls over and tucks a proprietary arm around Raylan’s middle, tugging him in until he has Raylan bundled in clumsily against his chest. Raylan lets himself be big-spooned, though he can’t help his bemusement.
“I thought you didn’t want me to touch you.”
“This is me touching you,” Tim mumbles into the back of his neck.
“Got it.”
“Go to sleep." The edge in Tim's voice from before has gone down a little. Now I can keep you where I can see you. “You do less dumbass shit when you’re sleeping.”

Nouteikarano 2 exhibition - brief report
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had a ticket for the first session of the last day of the exhibition! I arrived outside the gallery with about 10 mins to spare, very sweaty from the walk, but nevermind 😅 It seems like there were 10 spots per session for the Osaka run, and about 6 or 7 people were waiting there, including me.
Fujieda came outside at 11am and called each person in by their ticket number. I was number 5! He touched my phone screen to swipe my ticket, and yes, that was an event for me! 😂
Next I went upstairs to the 2nd floor, where Takabayashi was waiting, and he handed me the paper ticket for the event. This was the first time for me to actually talk to both managers in person, so I was quite happy about that 😄
After this I was in the exhibition space. No photos were allowed at all this time unfortunately, it was quite a small room.
I think the biggest difference from Tokyo is probably just that there was no space for the personal items display in this small room (and obviously no live painting). However, I did actually see 2 or 3 of those personal items hiding behind a kind of ridge at the top of the ceiling. I cant think of any reason why he would hide them there other than to see who was eagle-eyed enough to spot them!😅
There was also some footage being projected on part of the wall, which was showing Kaoru in his art studio/apartment wearing a winter down jacket while painting.
His bgm was playing in the background too.
As for the art itself, it was an experience seeing all the pieces up close in reality. I had seen a few of them at Tora no ana, but there was stilll plenty which was new to me. One piece in particular made me well up!  (Here I can't really say much else, I'm planning to send my detailed thoughts about the art and the atmosphere to TTD)
His Hanshin × Dir happi coat was also on display on a mannequin, and didn't even have any 'no touching' signs with it! I was so tempted to just feel the sleeve at least or something, but out of respect I didn't touch it.
Of course, I spent the full hour in this tiny room looking at each piece over and over.
A few people left after about ten mins, but some stayed the whole hour like me. I heard one woman telling the merch guy why she liked Kaoru so much. She was saying, "Its his sexy eyes, I love them!....I mean, his guitar playing is good too though", which made me laugh to myself a bit 😂
As for merch I only bought the pamphlet, which is the only thing I really wanted to buy anyway. Initially, I wanted an acrylic stand too, but they are 12 types sold at random, so I decided against that in the end.
Anyway, the pamphlet is wonderful, so I highly recommend getting it if it goes on GBS afterwards.
One interesting thing I noticed since going to Kaoru's events is that a lot of his fans look as if they are a similar age to me or older. I do tend to feel like a bit of an old woman within the online fandom sometimes, so this is actually quite heartwarming to see 😄
Overall though, I can say it was a moving and fullfilling experience, and Im so grateful I was able to go!

fucking FINALLY a person who acknowledges how toxic Scott can be!!!
god this is going to be controversial but i feel like all this fandom gives a shit about is watcher bullshit and random lore coincidences but what I care about is character analyses. but then when people do character analyses it's so surface level like urghhhh. it's okay because obviously you dont have to be as insane about life series lore as me you can just enjoy it as a fun minecraft series but still man. im still on my "c!joel has a cluster b personality disorder" shit but it will go unheard
AHSDJSDH I'm glad if people feel comfortable coming into my inbox with takes like this lol. Please speak your heart, I'm totally here for it
I don't ever want people to feel ashamed or discouraged for how they view the series, if they like a ship a certain way or they like to write about the watchers, who am I to take that way from them, go wild!! But as far as my personal opinion goes, yeah, I agree lol. To me watchers become vastly less interesting as soon as they stop being peculiar concepts and are turned more into identifiable beings with intricate backstories and motives, if not the Lifers themselves etc. Some people will write pages of watcher lore but as soon as anything "problematic" is assigned to a Lifer, it's suddenly "thinking too deep into it". But of course that's not everyone and I just don't indulge in watcher lore much, I don't want to intrude or ever force any way of thinking about the series. Just as long as people remain open-minded and don't take someone's remotely negative thoughts as cut-and-dry "hate" and then defend their own as if it's a matter of aimed personal offense. People who do just enjoy the series as a bunch of CCs just having fun and such shouldn't feel the need to defend that when no one's even going after them for that
Edit: As pointed out by wildcatcargo in the comments, because I failed to acknowledge this - using watchers also to explain away characters' disagreeable actions rather than finding reason within the character themselves, because if their wrongs are assigned to an otherworldly entity, it holds less gravity and detaches them from their faults
ANYWAY yes character analyses all the way. I don't think I'm very good at them but... I do like them above all else. And in kind, I don't want people like you to feel discouraged to speak your mind because of some of the fandom's tendency to disregard it
If I may, I think you should go indulge with @mcybree's blog who has fantastic analyses regarding Scott specifically

Happy holiday.... What do you think that made Yuuji is so likeable as a character? I've only been in the JJK fandom for a year, and I've seen a lot of other JJK characters' stan. But one thing in common, they all love Yuuji and mostly will include him in their top 5 fav JJK charas (including me :D)...
Okay, in general I don't know, but I will tell you why I find him likeable!
For one, it's his design. Yuji's design is actually one of my favorites in JJK. That pink hair + brown eyes combo? Love it. The touch of red on his uniform, I like that, too. Since when I got into JJK, I started with the anime and then the manga, I didn't know Yuji used to have blond hair.
Neither way, I like it! I find both colors fitting for him.
And it's not just his features, but also how he's animated/drawn. He has a range to him that I just love so much. It reminds me of how my other favorite, Izuku Midoriya from BNHA, has a range.
Yuji will literally look like this one minute!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then look like this the next!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, with everything he's been through, he's going to look different, but you get what I mean! 😆
Another reason is his overall personality. First episode/chapter alone with clock you on that he is a goofball with gets along with people, but he's not a pushover. He care about others and has a good heart. He's just so kind and energetic. His energy easily matches up with other hyper characters like Satoru and Kugisaki.
He's willing to sacrifice himself just to save someone and really, it's also a sad part of his character. He later on gives into the idea that he is just a cog in a system. He accepts death, deciding to help as many people as he can before his time is up. It leads to him going through so much as the story goes on to the point that he isn't exactly the same as he was before.
On a funnier note, he's just this strange kid to me. Like, Yuji finds a love story within a movie called Human Earthworm. Those dolls Yaga be making? Yeah, he calls one "creepy but cute" and even Satoru Gojo questions it "this thing is cute"? When Megumi tells him about Sukuna's finger and curses wanting it, wanna know what Yuji asks? "Why? Is it good?"
YUJI, IT IS A FINGER?!
He didn't even freak out when he saw Megumi's Demon Dogs.
Love his strangeness though. It's an endearing part of him to me.
Adding on, I adore about him is his overall skillset.
Yuji didn't even have cursed energy or any special techniques, but he was already capable of breaking records and outrunning cars. So much so that he gained a nickname like "Tiger of West Middle" and believed to be the reincarnation of Mirko Cro Cop, who is an actual person who is still alive.
His strength is so powerful that he was even given curses like Hanami and Choso a hard time fighting.
On top of that, it wasn't as if Yuji needed to go through a training session to learn basic fight skills. He was already beating ass before curses!!
Yuji is also a quick learner. Apparently, Black Flash is a move that is difficult to accomplish, yet Yuji was told about it for a couple of minutes and managed to delivered several Black Flashes within that same time frame. And if you count the amount of Black Flashes that has happened in the series so far, Yuji has executed the most at 8 - 10. Yuji is also able to adapt to the fighting style that whoever he is fighting alongside has. He has done it with Nobara, Aoi and Megumi. Three different styles, yet Yuji is able to work with each of them like nothing.
One more thing, is his relationships with other characters.
Again, Yuji is a sweet guy so it's easy for people to take to him and be his ally. It's not even just him being sweet, but there's also his other personality traits and skills. He was able to impress someone like Aoi Todo. There are not a lot of characters on the same wavelength as Satoru because of his personality, but Yuji is one that is. Even Megumi, one of the grumpiest characters, takes to him.
And while I do love the positive relationships he has, there's also the negative ones I like, too.
Out of all the characters, Yuji's clash with Sukuna is the most entertaining to me. That is not to say that the other relationships are boring.
It's just that with these two are so different. So very different, yet share a few things in common that makes my brain get to working and then I have thoughts I have to write down.
Really, that's all I have to say for now!
Yuji Itadori is a favorite of mine, the #1 on my list. I don't blame others for liking him, too, because to be for real... Yuji is a character I can't imagine anyone genuinely hating. Like... how can anyone, I don't know! Maybe not care for him? Not everyone has him as a favorite character, I'm sure.
I mean, I have seen people say they prefer Yuta or Satoru as the main character (makes no sense to me, I highly disagree, if either of them was the main character of the main storyline, then it would be a totally different story, HELLO, and I do like those two).
I have seen people call him "weak" and "useless" for losing to Choso as if Yuji didn't give Choso a hard time even after running around and fighting curses and curse users before then. "Yuji should stick to jumping". Yuji be doing 98% of the jumping, stop it now I'm exaggerating but you get it.
I'm just saying, Yuji could do almost all the crazy stuff a lot of other characters do without hesitation, but I doubt anyone else would be able to willingly, without thought, swallow a finger that looks like that like Yuji has. That kid is a menace, but an absolute sunshine and I adore him.

How Isaactor became my OTP
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am one fanfic away from having more stories on Isaactor than Trephacard. And I think that would be a good time to talk about how Hector and Isaac became one OTP over basically everyone else.
Tumblr media
Okay, technically there are still a lot more Trephacard stories, because I have several stories with just two of the three characters in them.
Still, I by now do like Isaactor more by now. Which is kinda ironic, because while Trephacard was something I started shipping, as soon as I saw the show (it just is a very obvious ship), I was like: "Sure, I can see Isaactor, but I do not have strong feelings about it."
I knew though from the very beginning of writing The lesser Evil, that it would end up with Striga and Morana returning to Styria. And from that came the idea that Striga could try to get the two forgemasters to hook up. Which lead to Five Games of Chess.
But the more I was writing about them, the more interesting did the dynamic become.
Tumblr media
What makes them so interesting to me is that they are morally complex. Like, sure, most of the cast in Castlevania has more than enough trauma (which makes for delicious hurt/comfort), but they are also morally somewhat simple.
But then we have those two, who participated in what was meant to be an absolute genocide. Kill all the humans, because for differing reasons the two of them have come to hate humanity. Something that in Isaac's case had like really good reasons. Like, duh, the man survived slavery. As a child non the less. Yes, he has all the reasons to be angry at the world.
Still, Hector was the character who I identified with most. Because he is autistic and a survivor of parental abuse. So, yes. I can very much identify with his anger at the world.
None of that however makes genocide in any way or form justified. (Duh.) And that is, what makes the two so interesting. Because this realization is something they are going to have to deal with sooner or later. That they did something unspeakably bad.
And among that realization there really is only one other person who can understand them: The respective other. Because they both were part of the genocide. They both served Dracula. In a way for different reasons - but still those reasons were somewhat similar. And only the other person really will ever understand.
Tumblr media
And yes, of course it should be mentioned that everything else also makes them such interesting characters.
Isaac easily is the best written character in all of Castlevania, where the input by Adetokumboh M'Cormack (the voice actor) really, really shows. Especially as the way the show deals with Isaac's religious conflict is so well depicted. Something that a ton of shows just struggle with - or do not show at all. I mean, how many well written Muslim characters are there in western media? And I mean, let's face it. Most western media does not even know that Sufism is a faith that exists.
Meanwhile I find Hector interesting, because he very much gets pushed into a role that normally female characters will be shown in, given he literally gets sexually assaulted within the show. I mean, for most of seasons 3 and 4 he is very much a damsel in distress waiting to be rescued. Something we usually do not see with male characters.
Tumblr media
I will also remain of the opinion: Was Isaac white, the two of them would be the most popular ship of the show. Because they just have this rivals to enemies to lovers dynamic that fandom normally goes of to salivate over.
For myself, of course, there is also just the aspect, that Hector does have quite a few canonical hints that he is still very much kinky. Which makes for fun kinky sex scenes. ;)
But in general I just think the two of them are the most interesting characters and the most interesting dynamic in the show. And I just wished more people would write and create art for them, :(

A little bit of a rant, but. And this is a Very Personal Take, so watch out for that.
The thing I wish more writers at DC got is that Jason's tragedy runs deeper than the Joker — but it also doesn't run deep enough that it ruined him from the start (which happens to be a particularly terrible train of thought in general.)
Jason Todd, as Robin, was a sweet kid. Jason Todd, as Robin, was angry, traumatized, sometimes vicious. Jason Todd, as Robin, loved school. Jason Todd, as Robin, hated criminals. He loved his father, and loved being Robin, and didn't quite respect Batman's mission, and had issues with his family. These things can coexist. They *should* coexist — because this coexistence is what makes the character interesting, when you look at him for more than five seconds.
It's all too easy to act as if Jason's leading tragedy — the key moment that defines his path — is the moment he dies to the Joker. This isn't *inaccurate*, per se; the events of his resurrection were indeed mostly influenced by the events leading to, and surrounding, his death. But dying to the Joker does not *constitute all that Jason is.* That's a thing writers keep falling into; this idea that everything about Jason Todd eventually and inevitably goes back to the Joker, and his murder. Both "Kill the Joker" and "Three Jokers" (ironic) approached the character from this angle, and I think that's a damn shame.
Then you'll see people who look deeper, and define the character by his background. Criminal abusive father, cocaine addict mother who eventually dies, a miserable half-life in the streets and slums of Gotham City, depending on petty crime not to starve to death. It's a terrible existence, and the scars it left on Jason's psyche are clear, but that alone does not constitute all that he is. I've heard the following take a few dozen times; "There was never any hope for Jason Todd." Even Batman himself, in some comics, says something to this effect.
There's two camps on this hill, of course. The first, more aggressive, is of the idea that Jason was "rotten from the start"; this isn't at all an uncommon take, both within fandoms and in real life when talking about certain polemic figures. We, as people, find some sick comfort in pointing to people who do things we dislike, fictional and otherwise, and declaring that their perceived evil is innate, like there's something off within their heads. We see this phenomena a lot more often with Superboy Prime, for example — but it's not quite uncommon with Jason Todd, in some circles.
I don't think I need to elaborate on why this is toxic, of course. Reducing these characters — and people irl, when applied in such cases — to circumstances of some innate evil self, a rotten soul or undiagnosed antisocial disorder or whatever, is to close your eyes to any context that might have led to what happened to them. You don't have to forgive someone for doing something, especially when that something is awful, but there is still room to seek to understand why what happened happened, so that one might attempt to stop it from happening again, or ruminate on its consequences.
Coming back to our given example, by saying Jason was "always rotten", these people choose to completely ignore every important (and trust me, they were incredibly important) factor in his life that led to his behaviour. Perhaps unsurprisingly, these are the people most likely to portray Robin!Jason as an arrogant asshole and nothing else.
The other camp is a bit more reasonable. "Jason Todd never had the chance to be more than what he was" is the prevalent thought they hold — from the streets as an orphan to the streets as a fighter, surrounded by violence at every turn. How could he ever have grown past the blood if new blood kept being spilled? It's a very humane take on the character, comparatively speaking, but I feel like it's also diminutive. Because this passive acceptance of an outcome is, in and of itself, a sentence to it. Which is to say — this, and the condemnation preferred by the first camp, are different only in the tone of their voices and the amount of empathy displayed. There's still an acceptance of the fact that this was 'always how things would play out', one way or the other. Like this was Fate.
This perception of the larger tragedy at hand as some sort of Destiny resulting from Jason's background and the tragedy he suffered is most notable in the recent interactive film "Death in the Family". Notice the similarities the many paths have to one another — of course, we know on a metaphysical level that this is in part due to budget limitations. But within the context of the movie, the narrative is that of the following; that those events, those horrors, would be Jason's inevitable destiny in every path his life could take where it crossed both Joker and The Batman.
And that, to me, is such a tragic misreading of what makes his tragedy *special*. Because any reading of Jason's tenures as Robin show a boy who does, indeed, have hope. We see this child be, well, a child — love and live and have issues a kid would have. We see him have problems with his family, sure, but also enjoy their presence, and get close to them. We've seen, recently, how he loved his father. How he and his brother patched things up. We've seen how he admired Barbara. To say that Jason's life would always end one way is to ignore the one true innate thing about him, and that was the arc of moving past one's trauma.
At his core, Jason was a heroic kid who had a lot of baggage. What made him different from Dick Grayson and Bruce Wayne was the nature of this baggage — he had no sole event to blame for it, no single tragedy before the Joker. Jason Todd's personal Vendetta was against Gotham City, in all the ways it was rotten. See how he lashed out when confronted with Felipe Garzonas and Gloria; *that* was Jason's target of rage and trauma, not any single event. Ironically, the thing Robin Jason and Red Hood Jason share is this; a rage against an immutable status quo, against the seemingly inherent futility in endlessly fighting to stop crime in the moment, never taking it further, always holding back. Rage against inevitability.
This is a child who could, and was close to, and was *expected to*, one day grow beyond himself. Perhaps it would always be outside of Batman's specific code. Perhaps not. But it was not Jason Todd's background that consigned him to a life of violence. Even at that point in time, at his lowest and within the worst interpretation of it, had it not been for the Joker, Jason would almost inevitably have moved beyond himself like Bruce eventually did, like Dick eventually did. Eventually, people change. That was a 15-year old boy lashing out, and given time, and support, every last piece of his story tells us he'd have healed.
Instead, he died a violent murder, betrayed by his mother, and was condemned to a cycle of violence that was almost custom-built to perpetuate every last worst part of himself. To make every last flaw of his shine. To stoke the flames of his rage and nothing else. And it happened because he died, and metaphysically because the author wanted something to try (and fail) to question Batman's methods once again.
That's the tragedy of Jason Todd — forever doomed to push boulders uphill. This is a character built for a world that can either change or be questioned — but his is a world that does neither, so he will only ever fall further down, further down indeed. And as he does, he'll keep pushing boulders, struggling, trying to go up. And he will fail. He can't ever recover because we, the world, won't let him.
Or we can just make him a magic ninja lol
(I actually like the All Caste stuff, ironically. Could've been done way better, but. Hey. Ducra questioned that boy's ideals without being a moralist jackass. I will take that.)

so one of the things that i think is happening in the likes vs reblogs debate is that when people who support reblogging over liking say things like "likes don't do anything," they don't mean they literally don't do anything. what they mean is that in the grand scheme of how this site works--as a blogging platform--a like doesn't share the post any further than your own blog. no one else is ever going to see the post; it's going to end right there.
but, for whatever reason, whether it's in bad faith or just misunderstanding, people who support liking over reblogging seem to consistently take this as the other side does mean that liking literally doesn't do anything, which they then meet with the argument that of course it does something. it, as i saw someone put it today, gives my internet friend a boost of serotonin.
the thing is, a lot of these people who are against "likescolding" seem to have this idea that they're fighting against the all-terrible algorithm, and what they're forgetting is that in the process, they're hurting the very real people on the other side of the computer screen. going back to the serotonin argument, yeah, i do get a boost of serotonin from receiving a like, or i did back when i was still bothering to post here. so it would follow, therefore, that i get more serotonin from more likes. but in order to get more, someone is going to have to suck it up and reblog the post so that other people can see it, because my reach on its own only goes so far. if the entire argument rests on giving me serotonin, then shouldn't a reblog give me serotonin as well? why are likes the only form of acceptable serotonin givers?
which leads me into my next point, that by demanding reblogs, i'm supposedly just a greedy numbers counter who can't be satisfied with what i have. and frankly, at this point, after watching this argument go round and round in circles for literal years, i don't think that anything i say is going to change anyone's minds. the people who say i should be satisfied with likes are going to say that i'm greedy and want more attention no matter what argument i present. it doesn't seem to matter to them that i have activity muted on tumblr and statistics muted on ao3 and therefore can't even see the numbers. but i'm hopeful that some of the newer people on this site will see this and understand why i'm arguing for the value of reblogging, so i'm going to say it anyway.
let me paint a picture for you: i joined my current fandom on tumblr almost exactly five years ago. the biggest movie to date had just been released, the fandom was thriving, and i vividly remember seeing artwork after fanfic after gifset on my dash. if i tried to scroll back through my dash in the morning to where i'd left off the previous night, it would take me hours because so many fanworks were being created and posted and shared while i was asleep. the very first fanfic i posted to tumblr for this fandom got more than a thousand notes literally overnight. i'd only been a part of the fandom for a few months at that point and had very few fandom followers, but the field was more than welcoming to a new writer.
but then the landscape changed.
within two years, i'd started to notice a drop in reblogs. i can't tell you for certain what the reason was. maybe it was covid fatigue, maybe it was purity and anti-culture being driven to an all-time fever pitch, maybe it was that people were leaving my fandom, once one of the biggest on the site, for other, more diverse media. i really can't tell you what the reason was, but as the reblogs started to drop, fan creators started begging. and as the creators begged, i suddenly started seeing these posts circulating about how creators should be grateful for the likes and lurkers, and asking for anything more was just being greedy.
slowly, the number of fanworks on my dash started to drop. the fanfics went first. for whatever reason, maybe because reading a fic is more time-consuming, people were particularly hateful towards fanwriters wanting more reblogs. writers tried various tricks, writing shorter fics, putting things under read mores, posting in the form of bulleted headcanons, but nothing really worked. and so they stopped posting. and then they left tumblr altogether. i see a lot of them on discord, and occasionally, twitter now, but i don't see them on tumblr.
the art was next. see, a lot of the artists in my fandom make money off their art, which meant they relied on those reblogs as a way to get their name out there. and if those reblogs aren't happening, and if people are deriding commissions because they think fanworks should be free and available to everyone, then no one is seeing their commission posts. and if the site is already hostile to artists, which it has been since the tumblr purge of 2018, then why are they still on this site when they can be on twitter and instagram?
now i'm watching it happen again with gifmakers. that old resentment is building back up, this time around reposting gifsets and claiming them as their own creation. people claim to be unable to make cool gifsets so they have to steal them, and in the process, other people stop reblogging the original gifmaker. as of writing this, i haven't seen us reach the point where the gifmakers start to leave, but i'm betting it'll happen soon.
you know how many new fics i've seen this last week on my dash? three.
you know how many new artworks? eight.
you know how many shitposts i've seen? political posts? posts lamenting the deaths of whatever current fandom op is in? too many to count.
i'm one of the people who doesn't post my fics on tumblr anymore. i don't see the point. i'll get a much bigger reception talking about them on twitter. and i feel bad for all the newcomers arriving here because their dashes are going to be full of shitposts and politics and misinformation and reposts from tiktok where they once would have been full of stories and art.
but i wonder. if people keep on this reblogging hate train, will we lose the shitposts and politics and reposts from tiktok too? you're not obligated to reblog everything, i'm not even saying that you're obligated to reblog anything, but if we keep going the way we're going, if more and more people drop a like and keep scrolling, will we soon reach a point where there's nothing on our dashboards at all?
fandom is a community, and i think that that's something that people tend to forget. creators create for themselves, but they share for everyone else. i see a lot of posts talking about how creators will stop sharing if all they receive is silence, but most of those are old posts that miss that creators have already received silence. they've already stopped sharing. they've already left.
the thing is, before i gave up on posting to this site, i used to remind myself that if ten people were sitting in my apartment, listening to me read my fics, i would think that's a lot of people and be very honored in the hopes that it would make me feel less sad about the fact that in just a few years, people stopped reading what i wrote. and it isn't that it's wrong, but five years ago, even as a new writer, i was reading my fics to packed auditoriums with standing room only.
and there's a big difference between speaking to an auditorium and speaking to my living room.
no one is obligated to reblog. no one is owed a reblog. and likes do actually do something. but sharing does something too, and it doesn't hurt anyone to reblog it. truth be told, i think we're already past the point of no return; i don't think we'll ever see the creators who've already left come back. but that doesn't mean we can't make this a welcoming space for new creators or that we have to make them feel bad for wishing that more people would share their fanworks. i see a lot of those posts railing against likescolding talking about how it's not okay that likescolding makes them feel bad, so i guess my question to those posters is this:
why is it okay to make the creators feel bad instead?

Baby Trap... by Aemond Targaryen
I remembered a headcanon I have from Lucemond.
So, for no one in the fandom it is strange to think or consider possible that the Targaryens have a breeding fetish.
But, for some reason, I've seen several posts on Aemond having this fetish. How did they get there? I don't know, but he gave me sooo many ideas.
Which brings me to the next thing, I'm pretty sure Aemond would fuck with Lucerys' contraceptive methods to get him pregnant, thus trapping him with his baby.
so... there it goes. --------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Aemond, no matter what universe it is in, whether or not Lucerys can be left with a baby inside her... he would look for the ultimate way to trap Lucerys with him permanently.
Of course, Aemond knows that he will become a careful father and will not look after anything other than his family, he really wants to be a father. Only that he takes advantage of his wish to use it as a kind of secret letter to keep Lucerys by his side.
So, he barely has the opportunity, he's going to take it. Believe me when I tell you that he will do everything possible.
Within historical canon time, should they be able to have a baby of their own: Aemond will make sure Moon tea is modified, changed, or simply make Lucerys forget to drink it. Or he'll make sure Lucerys never properly learns about how babies are made, so he can manipulate his concept until the time comes when pregnancy is safe and there’s not rick at all.
At the time, I feel like Lucerys may know that babies come when both adults come together, but he doesn't know everything in fine detail.
In some Alternative Universe within the same situation of the possibility of having a baby of their own, especially the modern one: Aemodn will make its pills just placebos and change them for prenatals, condoms will always have holes or are already spoiled, and it will pretend that they broke on the spot , he will give his boyfriend hormone pills inside his drinks or inside his food to make sure everything is ready. Aemond will keep track of his fertile dates, and all.
In the modern setting it's the only scenario where Aemond can't keep Lucerys fooled about the process of making babies, as it's a relatively more educated environment and I doubt Lucerys doesn't learn abput it outside his home; like the school.
Sure, all dark, of course. We are talking at the end  about how Aemond wants to make sure Lucerys can't leave him.
But only if Lucerys stays innocent about it.
What would happen if it was Lucerys not so? If our sweet boy actually, he thinks very similar to Aemond, but he didn't really take any active initiative about it.
Aemond does not realize that his boyfriend is always available on his most fertile days. He doesn't notice when his boyfriend avoids her leaving his bed or leaving it unfilled at all costs. Lucerys never peep about it, he do not mind at all.
He doesn't notice how his boyfriend takes half of the moon tea and throws the rest next to a pot inside the room. After all, boys cannot have babies, isn’t it? or simply the risk of having a baby is too low.
He doesn't notice how his boyfriend, his sweet boy, always lies in positions that facilitate the process of having a baby. Is just so¿uch a confy position.
As his little boyfriend never buys the condoms, even though Aemond always uses the broken ones every time or doesn't notice that he always asks him to use the old one found in Aemond's wallet. Those help in any way, right?
He never notices, doesn't notice when Lucerys always takes hormone pills "to stay on a regular cycle" that Aemond buy for him. Just do not tell Aemond that he might forget some of them.
