going to tag @strangefable @isobel-thorm and @direwombat for the cod stuff since y'all were kind enough to indulge me in a little scene I wrote for chapter 11 (even if I'm still supposed to be working on chapter 9 lol)

“You were jealous, weren't you?”

“Of course I was bloody jealous, Rory. Look at you, can you really blame me? I've been with my fair share of women, but Jesus, none of them can hold a match to you, my girl.”

“Your girl?”

“Listen, I've been trying my damnedest to keep my composure here. You think I went into this expecting to have this happen with my subordinate? It's rule number one and I'm here breaking it for you.” He sighed. “I had to listen to you in my fuckin’ ear, Rory. It was a goddamn nightmare.”

“And so what, you want to have that be the foundation for a relationship? The fact that I nearly died and you had to pull me out of there? That’s the foot you want to start on? It’s like I said last night, this is a dangerous game to be playing and I am not worth the trouble. I’m not worth your career.”

“And why’s that, eh?”

“I’m a fucking mess, that’s why. I’ve got nightmares, anxiety attacks, tremors, flashbacks. I’m in no place to start anything with anyone. And certainly not with someone who’s life could be upended because of me.”

“I don’t care.” He shrugged and gave a slight thrust of his pelvis as he crossed his arms over his chest. Obstinate, pigheaded right to the bitter end, refusing to back down from anything. This was Captain John Price type behavior through and through. 

“What do you mean ‘you don’t care’?”

“You think all that’s gonna keep me away from you?”

“Well it should.”

“Why?” He lowered his head, looking up at her through his brow. Constantly challenging her. 

“Trust me, after several nights of no sleep from me waking up with nightmares, you’ll understand.”

His eyes narrowed for a brief moment, the crows feet by his eyes creasing. “Someone else left you ‘cause o’that?”

Rory grimaced and bit down on her molars. Her eyes fell to the floor as she turned her head away from him. She didn’t have to say anything, her body language gave it all away.

Price’s face darkened at her reaction. If it was up to him he’d hunt down whoever it was and teach them a lesson, but that isn’t what she would want to hear.  “Christ, don’t tell me someone actually did that?”

“Of course someone did that, John. Most people who see that side of me either think of me like I’m holding on by a goddamn thread or I'm just another broken soldier. And if it's not that, it's the whole horde of other shit in my head.” She rubbed at her brow. “People don’t want to fall in love with someone like me. It’s too hard to do.”

“Well, lucky for you I’m a bit of a stubborn bastard. I’m willin’ to put in the hard work. I can be goddamn relentless when need be.”

Rory scoffed, “I’d expect nothing less from you.”

He gave her a little crooked grin and stepped forward, cupping her face in his large hands, his thumbs stroking her cheeks softly. “I’m only gonna tell you this once, darlin’.” He leaned down and pressed his forehead to hers. “I don’t care about how much trouble you might be, you hear me? I have to have you, Rory. I need you to be mine, yeah? Simple as.”

It was her turn to ask the question. “Why?”

“Because if there’s anyone who’s going to understand what’s going on in that pretty head of yours, it's me. I wanna protect you. I wanna make sure somethin’ like this never happens again. I can’t even take the thought of you bein’ with someone else besides me.”

“I’m not willing to take the risk.”

He nodded his head slightly. “Well, I’m patient. Persistent. I can wait as long as I have to.”

“Fucking hell. You’re not going to let this go, are you?”

“Not after what I saw last night.”

very cute show as you'd expect from a kirara series god it's been so long since I've watched a CGDCT show but it still slaps, as usual, so I'll be looking forward to this cleansing shot for this season also main cast is all newbies, except one of them randomly is aoki shiki which is p funny to me also also, op and ed are good tho op feels like an ed too (it's mikku tho so it's good 🙏)

Frieren Ep6

great ep once again, I know the frieren fight with the demon guy had some sakuga but I certainly didn't expect to see some this ep too it was really good. and also the interactions between fern and stark are p funny they got good chemistry

Undead Unluck Ep2

extremely good ep, might even say it was better than ep 1 like it was just that great. the direction is still great, I especially liked how they lined up the ep title card with andy saying the line and it didn't break up the action much, hope that's a recurring thing tho also hope they're a bit more ambitious with it. it was also pretty funny seeing all the shaft style shots, which makes sense cause there's a buncha old shaft staff in this but still. the sakuga was really good too. also we got both the op and ed and they're both great, visually and musically, tho the OP visuals go hard as hell. anyway next week we're getting gina so I'm very pogged up for my queen yuuki aoi getting to shine for 2 eps

Pokemon Horizons Ep24

pokemon's back from it's 2 week between cours break with a very lore heavy ep which we already knew would be the case from the previews but I expected to get a lil more action near the end. anyway despite being so lore heavy it was mostly about riko's grandma and not the lucius stuff the plot is built around like I expected. wasn't a bad ep tho. next one looks like it'll have a lot of action so that'll be fun. and in 2 or 3 more eps that new gaki girl will get some more screentime which should be good too

Adult Precure Ep2

DON'T YOU HATE BEING RIGHT??? last week I said: "I just hope they have new cure forms as adults instead of transforming into their younger selves." and guess what the hell happened? MAN I'm so mad. and toei only did it to save costs too cause they reused the stock footage from the old show, man this is so disappointing... but the rest of the episode was really good, even the action after the transformation was good (yoshiyama yuu 🙏) I'm just let down they chose to do this instead of giving them new adult cure forms 😔

Imas Million Live Ep2

great episode, as you'd expect from imas, with an especially good performance from shizuka at the audition at the end. also got to see a bunch more girls do stuff, like anna streaming, so that was fun. I was thinking that it's a shame that the show is only 12 eps (despite being cg) cause I wanna see the girls more but then I realized U149 was also just 12 so it should be fine. it's imas anyway so I'll enjoy my time with it while I can

I'm keeping my word, it's about 3 weeks since my last post and I'm already working on the next one.

Hello Peoples

So I've been telling everyone this is week 3 but for some reason I'm the only one that believes the convocation week (week 1) counts. Anyhoo, today is day 3 of week 2, and I've had only two actual classes. I should have stayed at home, but that's too late now.

Just to give a little update on how the semester started for me. I resumed last week (my own week 2) because I spent all of convocation on completing Breaking Bad. But last week I moved to anime, I thought being in school would get me serious again but that didn't work. What finally did the job was having my first lecture (online) but she was so serious about the class that I got serious right after that class.

The engineering student, Kunle, is back. *Sheds tears from suffering*. I already want to go home, I'm looking forward to the short election break. I hope it's like one week long. Jaja is as Jaja as ever and I want to go home for a breather. It seems I didn't fully recover from the intensity of the final push last semester until this week. I was so tired last week and I struggled to sit down and study for a significant amount of time. Feb 1.

Omo nawa o, February 16 today and I am very tired of school. Election break is three weeks long (God is good). I honestly cannot wait to go home, it's almost like I've pulled the student plug in me. My plan was to move with each lecturer as the classes commenced, this has worked well so far except in 3 courses where I have a lot of questions to solve. Last time I posted I hadn't seen any of my second semester results but as at the time I started this post I had seen about 1 or 2 but now I've seen 6.

Year 2, 2nd Semester SCL ?

6/6 As. Four to go, I'm hopeful. Super hopeful. Getting a 5.00 SGPA would be lovely. Regardless, these results are the Grace of God because three of those six As were a huge relief considering how the tests and exams went. I wanted to keep mum about the results until I saw everything but I want to take you through my emotions. Current mood: happy but slightly anxious.

Let me quickly return to present academics. After 6pm, it is such a struggle to study. Most of these past weeks I have slept off, achieving nothing in the evening and at night. 6pm I get dinner, after that I either go back to my room or the office and so far neither location has done the job for me. I really wish the library was 24/7 and allowed us take our stuff in. Currently , there's no toilet there, 9pm closure is way too early and not having my stuff with me inside is a problem. Sometimes you can't even charge your devices and all of my stuff is digital, doesn't work at all for me. I'm sure I've mentioned this before though, maybe in a much earlier post. I'll stop here for now, I really hope they release my the rest of my results before we go home for the election break. I want to know my cgpa while I'm grinding at home. Oh yes, my plan for the election break is to come back way ahead in all of the courses, so help me God.

Election Break

March 25, 2023. I returned from the election break on the 21st, the break about a month long. Nothing has changed, reading past 6pm is still a struggle, the four results left to see have still not been released and this most disappointing of all is that the only grinding I did at home was grind in my Clash of Clans. I'm even in a worse position now than I was before the break but I guess I have two months to get things in order. My election break would have gone well but I spent all four weeks worrying about how I was going to write a term paper on a course we hadn't had a single lecture on. That totally destabilised me and I lost all of my focus. An experience to learn from and navigate better in times to come because I'm sure another lecturer will give us a ridiculous assignment. That assignment was actually so ridiculous in hindsight, but I allowed it to have too much control over my actions during the break. To be fair to myself, I was very much invested in both elections and that itself was another distraction from grinding academically. I want to be in a good position academically so I can take out some time to participate in the next edition of ULES Games Festival so I'm ready to get the job done this semester by God's grace.

ULES GAMES FESTIVAL

We didn't have this last session because of covid, the strike and renovations for NUGA 2022. But this session it happened, and it just got concluded today. Metallurgical and Materials Engineering won more medals than any other department, congratulations to them. I only attended physically on the penultimate day but I absolutely enjoyed myself because I love sports. At some point I felt sad because one of my plans upon getting into university was to participate in sports. So far, I have done close to nothing in that area, and it made me sad, but I'll work towards it for 300 Level.

Academics

The next line of action is to assess the course outline and ascertain how bad things are, then improve on everything. I mean, what other approach is there to take?

I don't know if I should still wait for those results or just post. We'll find out eventually.

April 4, 2023

6.33PM, I'm at shop 10 eating my dinner when I open the class and see a text from Toki: "Results are out on lagmobile For those interested". Every rate in my body went up. To finish that food was a challenge, I kept on asking myself if I should check the results right there in shop 10 or wait until I got back to my room in Jaja. I eventually decided on the latter.

7.17PM, I open lagmobile to check my results. I quickly scanned through all the grades and didn't see a single B or C, at that moment it dawned on me. 5.0 SGPA!!!! SUMMA CUM LAUDE-ESQUE SEMESTER!!! It honestly felt surreal at that moment. I was like GOD! WOW! A 5.0 in a semester that felt so terrible for most of it, unbelievable scenes mehn. All Glory to God, because I cannot do such on my own, I would be a dirty liar if I said I could. I want to encourage you to trust in God when you pray, no matter how what kind of circumstances you're praying under, those things do no limit God. Today is April 8 but I'm typing like it's 4th, I just realised hehe. I'm reliving the moment; it was just such a good feeling inside of me. It's really lovely to achieve your goals, whew. More to come deo volente.

I guess that wraps up the first semester of 200 level, it was a lengthy ride to be honest. This wrap up is quite deep into second semester. Let me just mention that Dr. Ibhaze has come again, he gave us a test on physical electronics (EEG 226), 10 marks and we didn't know what to write. We can't catch a break with him, but I don't believe he'll use that test anyways, hopefully I'm not wrong (very hopefully).

For ease of calculating my cgpa, let me put the scores of each semester here. LevelSemester: TotalScore-TotalUnits Yr1S1: 66-14, Yr1S2: 78-16, Yr2S1: 100-20. CGPA moves from 4.80 to 4.88 (Huge!)

There's are so many social events going on in school at the moment, it's so easy to waste your time and then end up failing your tests. Dear reader, you cannot be everywhere. I won't say snub all events but be very picky with the ones you attend, select a few (very few o ejoor) and ignore the rest. You don't have that much time especially if you're behind in some courses. Don't set yourself up for struggle.

REVIEW

I loved this episode! I really enjoyed the storylines, even if Shaun and Powell's, and Lea and Andrews' stressed me out XD

Not toooo badly but still

I felt like the episode was a liiiittle crowded plot wise, with all of them being there with individual plots (like in teams of two anyway), but I think it would be a bit better if I wasn't doing this lol, and behind while I did it xD. Still, I enjoyed it :))

Also Asher and Morgan's storyline was hilarious xDD

And a good thing to have with Park/Glassman's and Jordan/Perez's sadder ones xd.

Anyway! Let's start with Lim and Powell. Now that I think of it since I forgot Lim for a second there just now lol, Powell was kind of the bridge between Lim's storyline and Shaun's. Most people were in twos but she was in both - interesting 🤔. I mean I know there's only so many characters, plus she got what was needed arc wise, but still XDD

Anyway, I'm not sure I completely agreed with what she was saying, but I feel like maybe she was just talking specifically about them. Like, the two of them having a conversation. I am glad she's encouraging Lim to get out and do more though! Plus, often a support system of people who just get, even a tiny bit, what you're going through, is really helpful :)). So, I'm super happy for Lim on that front <33. And, if we end up seeing that guy again, maybe in a romantic sense for Lim eventually, good for her! Anyhoo :)

Since we're already talking about Powell, I'll go to her and Shaun next :). Their relentless fighting stressed me out a bit lol (it was just a stressful episode okay XDD), but I'm glad they eventually made good :). I would say made up, but it doesn't really fit lol - they were never good in the first place, not really xD. But, I think they'll be really good and challenging and therefore encouraging each other's ideas, and maybe move from tolerating each other to at least kinda liking each other lol. I'm sure they'll continue to butt heads, but I think this is a big step forward to them :)).

Also I'm so happy they managed to find some things they both have in common 😭 xDD :). Good for them xdd <3.

Lea seeing how Shaun was struggling, and helping him through a bit was really sweet :). I just- they love each other okay??? They know how to tell when the other is having an issue and just aGH love them ❤️❤️❤️🥰 <333. Lol, anyway, Lea was S L A Y I N G in this episode. Our queen, we love <3. I'm really glad she was able to get the computers working again, with her own resources too! And, that Andrews was for the most part understanding :). Like, he was dealing with his own stuff and that happens, but mostly they managed to work together pretty well :). Like, he thought of the MRIs, yk? Anyway, it was stressful, but I appreciated the storyline lol. Computers are often overlooked when it comes to heat, like in tv shows and stuff - I mean heck, I didn't even think about them and I'm here appreciating it lol -, but it's super important so that was nice to see :)). So yeah! Go off guys, love you <333.

Speaking of next episode, I'm so excited for them to start a family :DD (besides themselves, even though obviously they're a family now). I do think they'll have some trauma from everything else in the past to get through with this, but I think they'll be able to do it and hopefully they can have a kid :)). If they do decide that's what they truly want, of course!

Anyway, Morgan! AHHHHH MORGAN WANTS A KID!!!! I'm so happy for her 😭😭😭😭. Obviously it is not at ALL a requirement in life, but I want her to be happy :). I hope she is doing what's truly right her though, just like with Shaun and Lea <3. Plus, I liked how she said it wasn't the boyfriend she was worried about. Obviously I hope she does get back together with Park, but I'm glad that distinction was made. This isn't about that, this about what she wants herself regarding children, and I absolutely love that for her <33.

Also Asher being her bestie :D?? Trying to get her to open up, being there for her, especially with what she said/her decision (even if she didn't make it in that moment or maybe even this episode at all) at the end? It was just- amazing <333. The duo I never knew I needed but absolutely do (need) now xDD <33. I love them :)).

And like I said their storyline this episode was HILARIOUS LOL. Poor Jerome was doing everything xDD. Speaking of Jerome I love him <33. In case you didn't know /lh lol xDD. Seriously though man was finding the guy, finding who was looking for the guy they kidnapped, dealing with them - everything XD. Plus the rest of his job lol. An icon, is my point xD <33.

Anyway Jordan and Perez's storyline/patient was so sad 😭😭😭. Plus just Perez's dedication to trying to find a solution, how much he cared. . . <33. I don't think it had anything specific to do with the patient, more just the fact that he's new. Like, we know him and Powell are new, but I think it's important we remember they're also new doctors. Though Shaun was wrong to dismiss Powell's ideas, he was right in the fact that they are still new. It probably just made it especially rough, and Jordan helping their patient honestly was helping him too, even if she didn't know it or that's not why she did it <33. Anyway yeah, I just thought their storyline was really sweet 😭😭❤️. I'm glad they got to take her to Paris :')). She deserved to be able to go :'DD <333.

Park and Glassman's storyline! It was saddd 😭😭. I'm glad everything worked out in the end though :'). But honestly seeing them debate tough decisions like that is just rough. Like yeah, those are hard decisions to make, and I totally saw Park's point of view. It hits even more to home this week as I'm finishing writing this up. And I felt so bad for him :(( with the story. It makes sense why his stance on it was what it was. Anyway, it was a bit of a rough one (not in an unpolished way lol), but I liked it :')).

Overall, I loved this episode! I thought the different plot uses of the what than what you'd normally expect of a tv show - like the nursing home losing power and the computers - was really interesting, and the character plots this episode were definitely great. It really felt like an extra character focused one. Not that they don't all put focus on the characters, but I feel like the next episode will put a bit more emphasis on the case. I enjoy both versions though! I thought it was a really great episode :)). Plus, the humor cut through the heavier stuff nicely lol :D. All around I just really really liked it <33 🥰.

So yeah! I really enjoyed this episode, I thought it was great in all the storylines. Next week's episode looks really interesting! This has been my review of. . .

My X-FEST 2 Experience!

Friends and followers this was truly a pleasure. I was only able to go on Saturday but my X-Files heart is full with great memories!

Here's my recap on one excellent day, we (my daughter and I) got our passes and went to the hotel restaurant to eat breakfast. I heard Mitch before I say him. He was at the table next to us and about 15 minutes later Nick came down and joined him. I never thought the back of their heads would be exciting but...

Anyhoo... we go inside the hall and everyone is in their booth. This was really well organized, plenty of space and easy access to whomever you wanted to see. Everyone when straight to the Gunmen and Nick so I went to Sheila:

I was her first autograph of the day and she was sorry she only had a black pen. She asked her assistant if she should have a lighter pen. I said it's no problem just meeting her was great. She said "I hate this picture." I said oh no, it's how I'll always remember you and she said "You know I still have this jacket in my closet." I was like really, do you ever wear it? And we both laughed, I'm not sure why? Lol 😂

Next I went to see Annabeth:

There were a few folks in line and when it was my turn for an autograph, she looked up and saw my shirt. She said "That's me! Where did you get this?" I told her off the internet and she grabbed her phone and told her assistant to take a picture. Just a note, she is lovely! And from this point forward we will have the 'That's Annabeth' count. This is 1.

When I walked into my photo op she grabbed my hand and said "It's you! I sent our picture to my husband and he said where did she get that? It's great!" Again she is a freaking gem!

Okay next was Mitch. As most of you know in April of 2018 I went to South Texas CC to see Mitch and he got the flu and cancelled 😣. My daughter felt so bad for me that she sent him a message on Twitter. He sent her a PM back and said he would send me some cool stuff...he did and after his last message to her he deleted his Twitter. So on to current day.

I get in line and my daughter is at a side table organizing my pictures. The lovely @jenniferalarza painted a piece for me plus I had JJ Lendl's "Kitten" poster for him to sign. When I got to the table I showed Mitch the envelope of all the things he mailed me last April. He was shocked and said "You came all the way here from Texas?" (He remembered 🤗 ) I told him I had to meet him and pointed to my daughter and said she's the one that sent you the message, then you quit sm. He was looking at the painting and without looking up he said, "Yep, she's the reason I quit." He laughed and I said she really thinks it's true. He came around the table and without slowing down, he headed towards her saying "I'm going to tell her it was because of her that I quit" He got to her and I couldn't hear what he said but she flushed and kind of teared up. Next he pulled her into a hug and headed back to the signing table. He signed both pieces then stopped. He said "She really thought she was the reason? Damn, I'm so sorry." Now I was tearing up. 😥

Mitch was the last photo op on Saturday and I still had 3 tickets left. My daughter and I decided to each take one individually and one together. Mitch saw us and we did the group pic first. He put his arms around us and said "We finally made it!" Yes Mitch, we did. Thanks 😘

Mark Snow was next to Frank Spotnitz and both of their lines were consistent but not too long. I owed the beautiful @dontpointdownthere a favor so we went to Mark next.

The favor was to ask about the song playing on the jukebox in "Dreamland ll" when Mulder and Joann, then Morris and Joann are at the bar. I asked Mark if he knew the song and he couldn't remember so he called over to Frank and asked him. I described it as best I could but Frank couldn't remember either. Sad news for @dontpointdownthere . 😥

I went to Mark's panel and I got the lyrics in the mean time. Frank was at the panel too so I showed him the lyrics and he took a picture with his phone. I met back up with Mark later and showed him the lyrics and along with the folks in line we tried to jar his memory. No joy but it was fun trying!

After the lunch break it was off to the Lone Gunmen. Again @jenniferalarza did a beautiful piece for me, so on to the signing:

Tom was first, he was very sweet and loved the painting. After folks in line heard it was fanart, they all wanted to see it. Everyone was very impressed!

Bruce was next and he was, umm, more like Byers than I thought he would be. First words upon seeing my shirt, "That's Annabeth" (that makes 2) He looked at the picture then asked my name. He said "This is really good, lots of fan art isn't, lots and lots are terrible." He started to sign and put my name at the top then stopped and signed his name at the bottom. "Oops! I forgot what I was going to say." Oh well, guess we'll never know Bruce!

Dean was last and his line had been the longest most of the day. I heard him talking with a fan while I was waiting for Mitch and he was telling her how he does pet portraits now. He even pulled out his phone and gave her an impromptu art show! Lol When I walked up he said "Hi! Is this Annabeth? (#3) and I said sure is. So I handed him the painting and he was about to sign then asked "Is this a print on canvas?" I told him it was the original and he was upset about signing it. I said no, please sign it, that's why my friend painted it for me so the three of you could sign it! He was just floored and started asking how much it cost, was it commissioned, how much was shipping from Spain and on and on. He said "I'm doing portraits now so I need to know these things."

His photo op was the last of the Lone Gunmen. The lines for the photos went super fast. Each person was given a 15 minute slot and none used all of the time. I went in and he said "That really is Annabeth!" No joke (this was 4). And just before we took the picture the photographer said hold up a second we're moving a little fast. Talk amongst yourselves. Dean said "So, Annabeth huh? You got this off the internet? I don't know if this really looks like her. Look at that chin, her skin is too dark, the forehead is all wrong. You know it doesn't really look like her at all." (I'm counting this as 5) I laughed and said, I guess not but she liked it. "Oh gosh, she's seen it?" Yep and she took a picture of it too! By now the photographer was ready and off I went.

Nick's photo op was after the Gunmen:

I walked in and I shit you not he said "That's Annabeth!" (Up to 6) Yes, she really loved it. He put his hand out to shake mine "What's your name, we haven't met today" I said, No not yet, you've been too busy. "For you? Never." I did swoon, just saying because the gray scruff is working for him.

While I waited for the photo my daughter went to his table to wait in line, when I got there she was the only one there so perfect timing. He showed up about 10 minutes later and we walked up. He greeted my daughter and there was a card on the table for the 'I wanna believe' X-Files parody show and she asked if he'd seen it. He said "Not yet but it's going to be on YouTube so I'll watch it later." My daughter told him it was worth his time and really funny. I told him Krycek had an important role so he needed to check it out 😊! He signed my picture and called over to Annabeth, she was next to him, "Hey, you saw this?" pointing to my shirt. She said "Yes, isn't it fantastic!" (I'm counting this as 7)

This guy is priceless, so warm and funny. He was telling a story about David to another fan when we walked up. He told them that David had called him to come back for S11 because he wouldn't have to put all that shit on his face this time! Lol I guess that worked 😂!

I picked the Postmodern Prometheus pic for him to sign and said I know it's not your best face but I loved this episode. He laughed and said "don't be so sure, this was one of my best." He got up from the table and gave me a hug. I was just in shock by his kindness!

That's finally it folks. A great day all around and an Annabeth shirt that will never live down it's fame!

Captain Price x Rory Sinclair (OC)

Curled into the weight of him, lying in their matrimonial bed, Lt. Rory Sinclair – John's new bride, and partner for the last eight years – felt like she was home. She had traveled the world, fought in countless fights and yet with John, it didn't matter what nation's borders surrounded her, or which four walls closed them in. She was safe. Protected in a way that she had only ever felt with John. 

Watching him smoke one of those bloody cigars of his, she quietly laughed to herself. Well versed in the addiction to smoking both her and John shared – for him, it was cigars, and for her, cigarettes – it was a nasty habit, and yet, the scent of that rich and heady tobacco that permeated the air and his clothes, that seemed to seep from every one of his pores, was one she couldn't live without now. Better than any cologne when mixed with his sweat and the smell of whiskey on his breath. That was John, cut down to his very essence.

Holding her chin in his hand, his rough fingers pressed into the soft flesh of her cheeks as they gazed hungrily into each other's eyes. The desire for each other was always there, forever lingering even in the background when their thoughts were solely focused on the mission at hand and not on the pursuit of loving one another. His mouth claimed hers, pulling her into a needy kiss after a drag from his cigar, and she found herself lost in the depth of his kiss, feeling the smoke curl and cloud down her throat and inside her lungs. Filled in totality, brimming with him. 

Rory locked eyes with him, returning a flirty smirk before blowing smoke rings towards the ceiling – a practiced art, as much as her ability with a sniper's scope or an interrogation room. Biting her lip as the last streak of smoke trailed from her parted lips, hazel doe eyes looked back with the intensity of a predator staring at its prey through the fog.

His eyes never left hers as smoke rings blew towards the ceiling, a mischievous glint flashing in their blue depths. Chuckling low in his chest, the vibrations caused his collection of body hair to quiver against her skin. "Bloody gorgeous," he murmured, his voice husky. Leaning forward, he breathed in, inhaling deeply the scent of smoke, whiskey, and her. The corners of his mouth curving upward, revealed a hint of amusement. "God, you smell like heaven." But as quickly as the newlywed joy sparked between them played out, his expression turned serious, his eyes burning with an inner fire. Tracing the outline of her lips with a sweep of his thumb, he grazed the sensitive skin with a tender touch. "Think I'll keep you captive," he whispered, his hot breath sending shivers down her spine. Tangling his fingers in the short, choppy strands as he stroked her hair, he pulled her head closer to him and his voice dropped to a whispered promise, "Never gonna let anyone else in. Only me. My girl. Forever."

The words sent a ripple of excitement through her core, followed by a wave of relaxation, knowing she was exactly where she belonged – wrapped around John Price, the man who would stop at nothing to protect and claim her as his own. Her warm eyes radiating the loyalty and devotion she felt for him. That desire to be protected, saved from a life full of loss and pain, was one that John eagerly filled for her. Hell bent on making sure she never had to weather another storm without him, using the same ruthless persistence he had when it came to dealing with a target.

"I'll happily be kept by you, my darling. Won't even try and run," she purred, her voice soft like velvet and as smooth as silk, made thick with the smoke that curled inside her throat. "All yours, John. Always." Her solemn vow as she stared into those piercing blue eyes of his, ones she could sink into, finding comfort in that strikingly cold gaze and the unknowable depths behind them that he allowed her to peer into – one of the few he did – never taking that for granted. This was the man she loved, all rough edges and darkened corners.

There was a flash of triumph in Price's eyes, that same determination that sharpened his gaze in battle igniting in his irises. He grinned, a dangerous curl tugging at the corners of his lips. A primal satisfaction filled him as he nodded, accepting her surrender with a subtle lift of his head. His fingers drifted down to massage her jawline, his voice as rough as his calloused palm, was filled with magnetism and promises, drawing her in further. "That's right, love. No runnin’ away, no escape. You’re Mrs. Price now. We fight together, just us two, against the whole world."

The quiet sentiment remained unspoken between them, but the way he crinkled his brows and narrowed his gaze made the underlying threat clear: mess with her, and he wouldn't hesitate to tear someone apart with his bare hands – an unnecessary warning for her, but comforting nonetheless.

"Two against the world." Her smile curled her full lips and her eyes sparkled with assurance that this was the man she was meant to be with. "Just how it's always been, eh?"

Rory knew exactly what Price was capable of: the violence, the threats, the lies and manipulations – a man willing to do whatever was necessary to succeed. Dangerous. But no matter how terrifying those traits might have been to his enemies, to her he had only ever been good. Gentle when needed, when her nightmares and flashbacks threatened to terrorize her, or strong and unshakable like a mighty fortress when threats came knocking on their door. She saw sides to him no one else was ever allowed to see. They had a trust built up after years of working together and born from a mission where he nearly lost her. An ill-fated op that nearly got her killed under his command became the roots for a love that had grown plentifully over nearly a decade together. They weren't just lovers or partners, they were everything to each other. A connection that no one else would ever understand, and neither of them was willing to try and explain it if someone was foolish enough to ask.

Price's smile widened, the creases around his eyes deepening as he leaned in, his nose brushing against hers. "Always. Wouldn't have it any other way, my girl,” he said, voice dropping to a whisper, the words tinged with emotion.

Pausing, his gaze drifted off, lost in memories of the past and the darker parts of their history that had brought them to this moment all etched into his mind like scars on his skin. Swallowing hard around the lump forming in his throat, he re-focused his attention on the woman in his arms. "Y’know, Rory," he said, his tone low and gravelly, "Never thought I'd find someone like you. Someone who understands me, loves me despite...or maybe because of..." His eyes locked onto hers, searching for any sign of unease and finding none, but shrugging it off not wanting to assume. "Well, despite my many flaws."

The admission was a near impossible rarity from him. For someone like John Price who built his reputation on being unbreakable, it took more than just courage to acknowledge his weaknesses, it took the threat of torture - but for her, for her he was willing ignore his ego and the many guards he'd built up throughout his life.

"Could never ask for anyone better than you, darlin’," he said, pulling her close, his chest rising and falling with each ragged breath. "You’re all I need havin’ to face this never-endin’ fight."

Brushing her fingers through the hair at his temple flecked with gray, she could only imagine the thoughts that currently stirred the cogs inside his head. Through their time together she had come to learn to understand how John thought, why he acted, what motivated him, but even after all this time there were parts that still remained a mystery even to her, parts of himself that he still kept secret - whether for his own safety or hers.

"We all have our flaws, John. Besides,” she said with a scrunch of her nose, “it's not like I'm any better, eh?" Her cheeky smile grew as she tried to add levity to the situation - she had never been very good about dealing with hard conversations. "Though I will say, I do hope one day the crusade might end. Maybe find a little peace together. Grow old and gray and fat. Be happy."

Meeting her gaze, his expression softened at first, then became firm once more when she mentioned the idea of finding peace someday. "It's a nice dream, love." His hand gripped hers, holding it tightly. "But we both know that won't be happenin’ soon. Not while men like Makarov are out there. Not until we've cleaned up this mess once and for all." His brow furrowed, the steel returning to his eyes again. "And when it's done, when we do finally find our peace, I'll spend the rest of my days makin’ sure you're comfortable. For now, let's enjoy these moments when we can.”

Huffing out a sour laugh, Rory knew that as much as (deep down) John may have wanted the same calm, quiet life she did, war was all he really knew. He had been shaped by it. A soldier from the age of sixteen, to him there really was no other life. Duty called, and he had sworn to answer it until the job was complete. If she were really being honest, she knew he likely wouldn't even know what to do with himself if he did find some semblance of peace. Even in serene moments like this, she could see the anxious twitching, the tics of a warrior that knew silence could mean danger was ahead.

Raking her fingers through her hair before resting her head on his chest, she listened to the steady thrum of his heart. "I know, duty calls. Hell, we were lucky we even got to have a bloody honeymoon." She offered him a small grin, but the weight of the threat of Makarov and the death of Soap still hung heavy over them, over everything.

His hand lingered on her back, rubbing gentle circles into her as if trying to erase the years of stress etched into her muscles. His heartbeat thundered against her ear, a reassuring rhythm that soothed and grounded her. "We were lucky, love," he agreed, his voice deepening with nostalgia. "That honeymoon was somethin’ rare during all that bloody chaos."

Fingers tightening slightly, a silent acknowledgment of the weight that still hung over them – the ghost of Soap, the specter of Makarov, the relentless march of duty - it was all an uninvited guest in their lives. Yet, there was acceptance in his voice rather than defeat, a reminder of their strength and resilience. "We'll finish this, my girl. We owe it to ourselves." Falling silent for a moment, he allowed them both to wallow in the comfort of each other's presence until he released a slow, weighty exhale, his arms wrapped firmly around her. "Until then, we'll find peace where we can, eh? Even in the small victories."

I know that in their shows, from the very start, the girls have crushes on boys (ofc it couldn't be otherwise cause toei are cowards) but you gotta understand how deep in the yuri mines I am. hearing them actually say they're engaged or dating a man gave me whiplash

Imas Million Live Ep4

good episode as usual, the best part was getting a lot more screentime for some of the girls that were barely in the other eps, tho it still wasn't that much and since this isn't following the og format there's always gonna be some girls that won't get their time to fully shine sadly. also got a couple momoko moments™ including the box so that was funny

Mission: Yozakura Family Ch1 - 200

wowie that was.. a lot better than I expected. honestly went in not expecting much, and after having just caught up to jujutsu from 1 to current I wasn't expecting yozakura to be so good since jujutsu is so much more popular but, hot take: I think it's way better like sheesh. I talked about it on my server but the only I thing I think jujutsu has over yozakura is the battles, otherwise it's beat in every category. I like the art a lot more, even from ch1 yozakura had waaaaay better paneling than even current jujutsu. and the whole cast is a lot more likeable. like from jujutsu I cared about gojo, nanami, maki and okkotsu. in yozakura we get cooldown chaps were the different family members do their own stuff and interact with each other which helps you get to know them more and in doing so liking them more, while still using these chaps to move the plot along so the pacing isn't too slow (outside of that little side detour with the past heads that got cut short prob by the editor but yknow)

anyway rambling and just repeating what I already said in the server but TL;DR it's good, glad to be caught up, and looking forward to it wrapping up in the near future since we're close to the final arc

Witch Enforcer Ch1

I started this mostly on a whim cause the art is good (artist's on here too btw @ camellia0x0) but I was pleasantly surprised. there was nothing surprising about the story but it was delivered well and the art was solid through the whole chap (tho the paneling is very basic but I'll give them a pass since it's their first serialization [only some one shots before]) and the concept of a witch making and using mechs is fun. looking forward to seeing this artist's growth as a mangaka, hopefully the series doesn't get axed too early

Silver Talks AniManga (14/05/23)

3 new manga this week wao, busy week for m+ (tho there were more I'm not reading) the one of most note is nue, the last of this WSJ serialization round and the one I was looking forward to the most, despite 2 of the other manga being by fujimaki and the shokugeki duo. sadly it didn't live up to my expectations but I talk about it more under there 👇

also I watched all anime episodes yesterday since mal was down for like 3 days thanks to a brainless hacker, I know I coulda just watched and updated it after it got fixed but I stubbornly like to do things a certain way tehe anyhoo

oh also there was a new chap of strike it rich but because of how comikey works I can't read it for free til there's a new chap in 2 week (yikes) so that's why it's not here, I'll be keeping a lookout for alternative sources for it but until then I'll just have to be behind ugh

Megumin Ep6

honestly the last or this episode coulda been the last and the anime woulda prob been a lot better, dunno how they're gonna fill 6 more episodes but we'll see. it was cute seeing the backstory of megumin's cape, staff and eyepatch tho

Imas CG: U149 Ep6

very good episode, in every way, voices, character acting, like usual I know ofc ofc. it's funny seeing haru always comparing idol stuff to soccer to make it more relatable to herself while the producer plays along (as he should) while everyone else is flabbergasted. as soon as they were talking about outfits at the start I knew what the ep was gonna be about (and what the solution was) but it was still good. and let me tell you, it was extremely brained for them to have the new LiPPS song as the insert for the anime at the same time as the event for it came out in the game, it's free hype real estate baby.

Mashle Ep6

I was actually pretty impressive with how the fight looked (compared to the rest of the anime) and the addition of him and mash's reflection on the metal (wasn't in the manga I checked) was really cool. it gives me some hope for the future of the anime, not much but some hope.

Pokemon Horizons Ep6

good ep but it's weird as hell just seeing shiny ray in an anime episode. done with the roy introduction arc so things can start moving forward now, tho they still won't be getting to paldea next time. however they did tease that the bocchi voiced character is part of the ship, which is funny cause they always show the damn duck in her videos so it was right there all along, we're just blind fools

Jigokuraku Ep7

nice episode, next one is gonna be The Door and the start of quite a long stretch of action, tho it won't extend to the finale. considering where we are I have a pretty good idea where it'll end (setting off from the cave iykyk). I thought it was pretty funny how they straight up just delete the tensen's nipples instead of using god rays or stuff like that since it'd be too much of a bother during fights, and honestly I much prefer this to making the fights look worse. however they did use god rays to censor mei so that was good. also also when I was reading it I said this, and during the ep I looked it up and they do indeed all have the same seiyuu, one for the female form (kaida yuuko) and another for the male (suwabe junichi), so that's v fun, glad they actually went through with it

Manga

Nue's Exorcist Ch1

MAN, out of the 4 new series, even with fujimaki and the shokugeki duo, this was the series I was the most excited for but if I had to be honest it had the weakest ch1 out of all of them :( it's a real shame. the art is really good, very clean lines and very readable, everything stands out as it should and the designs are good. however, I don't think it did a good enough job at setting up it's premise as the other 3, rn it's basically just the mc going "I want to be strong enough to protect everyone" and I don't think that's enough. we'll see how it goes in the next few chaps, but if something of note doesn't happened in the next handful of chaps I could easily see it suffering the same fate as tokyo demon bride which would be sad. I'll try to keep my hope up anyway, I know I only feel like this cause I had such high expectations for it when I shouldn't but oh well

Blooming Love Ch1 - 3

didn't really have any expectations going in but it's pretty cute art club president meets a craftsman girl, who is trying to get better at art, and becomes captivated by how earnest she is about things art is very nice and clean and the characters are expressive, could be a nice little romance if it can last for some time

Kindergarten WARS Ch1 - 3

jump + title and first indie series to get picked up by m+ it's kinda like an alt universe sakamoto, the premise is "the safest kindergarten in the world" which is protected by criminals trying to earn their freedom it currently has around 30 chaps so it's gonna take a while to catch up even if they do 2 or 3 chaps a week anyway it's good, I was the most surprised by how good the action looks but even outside of that it's good. at the end of chap 2 I was like "I hope the formula isn't always like this or it'll get old fast" but chap 3 was completely different so that got rid of my worries. I can totally see why it's so popular in jp (over 1M views weekly) so looking forward to the extra chaps til we catch up in the coming months

I knew there was no way they were gonna meet so fast, especially after they mentioned the sky trip at the beggining but still had some hope argh. karen teasing ayame was good too tho lol, and those pages with taiki reminiscing about past moments with natsu were fitting for a chap100, overall really good chap

chap felt longer than it was, but it makes sense since it's nisio and has so much text. I was worried cause of cipher's continuously low placements, but it doesn't seem to be wrapping up yet so that gives me some hope. tho it could just end suddenly and that'd be wack but we'll see... good chap tho, iroha finally making up with toshusai's other goon and introducing the new conflict and "villains" for the upcoming arc. I really do hope it doesn't get canceled it'd be a shame to lose a nisio series

continuation of the plot from last time, nice lil chap, despite how annoying yuri is, but the best part was there being a rare overarching plot related thing at the end, been a while since something like that

I haven't said this in a while but akane is still my favourite series on jump right now. the scene right before this cap gave me goosebumps and I KNEW what was coming that's how it was. goddddddd please, trust me, even if you think you wouldn't like rakugo, or that it's boring, or that it wouldn't fit a manga, just read it. it's so good man
