Queer Reviews: Anyta Sunday, Emerett Has Never Been In Love" (Love, Austen #1).
Tumblr media
CW: explicit sexual content, grief, incest (?, a matter of perspective I guess)
Plot: Emerett “Lake” Lakewood has a healthy ego and a flair for the dramatic. After losing his best friend to marriage—completely crushing his heart—he deems it prudent to distract himself, and what better way than playing cupid? He’s already got his eye on two young men desperately seeking romance, and he has a plan to hook them up. Barbecues. Photoshoots. Reciting Shakespearean love declarations. Lake is killing it. Love is positively pulsing in the air. Anyone could see it. Well, anyone other than Knight, his best friend’s dad, who cautions Lake to stop meddling. To leave love to its natural course. Lake has always valued Knight’s frankness, but this time he’s wrong. Without him, two hearts might be doomed never to find love. Besides, what does Knight know about romance? He’s barely dated in all the seven years Lake’s known him. He’s clueless. Though, there’s a thought. Knight has everything going for him. Sensibility. Kindness. Generosity. And for a forty-four-year-old, he’s—objectively—freaking hot. Why is he single?
7.5/10 on the Rainbow Scale™ 🌈: The premise of a whole series dedicated to retell Jane Austen novels as gay romances hooked me immediately and I wasn't disappointed. The romance is really cute and the characters are hilarious. I guess I wasn't a big fan of the whole Harry/Martin thing? Idk it kind of weirded me out. Also, Lake is probably one of the most infuriating protagonists I've ever encountered, he's up there with Luke from "Boyfriend Material" 😂😂😂 still, it's a super fun book.

91 500 Kisses- Anyta Sunday
Dylan runs a summer camp. A tree strikes the kitchen the kids eat in so he calls his old friend turned enemy, Chris, for some help. A camper named Jason tells everyone that a way to steal someone's heart is through 500 kisses. Of course Dylan and Chris have to make a bet on this. Can you steal someones heart in 500 kisses? Dylan and Chris are about to find out.
Dylan is hurting but so is Chris. I did enjoy the way it all started. That phone call changed everything. The bet is perfection. Watching them "not" fall for each other is beautiful. Mountain Dew is always the best choice in soda. Baseball seems to be a thing between them. Those kids are so cute. Jason and Holly got into some trouble. For a short read it was fun and cute. Even with how short it is, the emotion hits you in the chest.

Mi girai verso Syd, appoggiando un braccio sullo schienale della sedia. «Sai cosa penso?»
«No, ma me lo dirai comunque.»
«Penso di capire le insicurezze di Lucas.»
Lui si accigliò. «Pensi che io…»
«Lasciami finire.»
«Davvero, non so come spiegarti.

I don’t know if you read any mm fiction but I have this fave author Anyta Sunday. She has a adapted series
“Love Austin” basically Jane Austin but gay.
The last book on this series is called “A Dashwood of Sense and Sensibility” it follows the story of two brothers Zach & Noah. But let me tell you this idk why but while reading Zach and Brandon’s story I kept thinking about how much it would fit KinnPorsche
Zach being a lost sweetheart like really lost lol and Brandon falling in love with him and showing him how much he adores him, and clueless Zach tellingly him self he shouldn’t be jealous of Brandon dating because his friend should find love just like he is trying to find someone to love him it was such a cute dynamic but I kept imagining Kinn & Porsche lol 🙈
Gay Austen reimagining you say?? 👀 Of Sense and Sensibility???? 👀👀 Might have to look this up later, I’m trash for this stuff actually
See though, my thing is, while I don’t love the fact that the book has Colonel Brandon marrying a teenager half his age who’s strapped for cash and recently heartbroken, the whole concept of vivacious young charmer falling in love with quiet pathetic older guy is a fucking delicious dynamic so I’m kind of attached to an age gap of some kind for a S&S retelling. Idk if Kinn and Porsche would scratch that itch for me personally lol
Hence why @clandestinegardenias is so galaxy brained for seeing the Colonel Brandon/Marianne parallels for ChanBig. And why I’m so feral over Wang and In from 180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us. Absolutely VISIONARY and life-changing and unprecedented 😭

Mid Year Book Tag!
1. Best book you've read so far: it hasn't been the greatest reading year, so far i only have 1 book i rated 5 stars and that's The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren, just a pretty nice romance with just the right tropes that i read at the right time i think
2. Best sequel you've read so far: only sequel i read this year was actually a re-read, it's Scorpio Hates Virgo by Anyta Sunday and it's an mlm novel based on the zodiac signs, idk it's a nice read, the author loves slow burn romances and I think they're entertaining to read
3. New Release you haven't read yet but want to: Is it cheating if i already read the 1st couple of chapters? Well idc, it's The Spite House by Johnny Compton, it sounds creepy..
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year? 👀 I'm trying to stop myself from adding more books to my tbr for a while at least so I'm not checking new releases lists at the moment.
5. Biggest Disappointment: If We Were Villains by M. L. Rio the story was just... so bad and lazy, characters were just cardboard cutouts and the MC sucked so bad. I literally do not understand the hype on this one.
6. Biggest Surprise: Royals by Rachel Hawkins, i was not expecting it to be as funny, witty and self aware  as it was, specially because it was a YA romance and like I'm starting to get a bit too old for that genre lol
7. Favorite new author: mmm.. not sure, my knee-jerk reaction would be to say Christina Lauren as they wrote my only 5 star book (so far) this year but i started reading another book by them and had to stop due to cringe lmao so I'll go with no favorite authors
8. Newest Fictional Crush: none
9. Newest Favorite Character: ... none yet
10. Book that made you cry: I'm so sorry to say this but the only book that has make me cry this year was Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover 💀
11. A Book that made you happy: Whistling in the Dark by Tamara Allen and Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris... huh both have the word dark in the title
12. Favorite Adaptation: the only adaptation i watched this year was The Boogeyman by Stephen King and it was mid
13. Prettiest Cover: If We Were Villains it's like one of the only good things about that book. Unless you mean books that came out this year? In that case I think Episode Thirteen by Craig DiLouie and City of Nightmares by Rebecca Schaeffer look really cool
14. A book you need to read before the end of the year: Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren only because it's this month's book for my book club
No one tagged me, i just wanted to talk a little bit about books so feel free to do the same

Queer Reviews: Anyta Sunday, "Bennet, Pride before the fall" (Love, Austen #3).
Tumblr media
CW: explicit sexual content, internalized homophobia and biphobia, fear of coming out
Plot: “I want someone to want me for who I am. No changing my appearance or philosophies or principles. I need a partner to be proud of me—in public and beyond—and proud of themselves.”
“Think you’ll find it?”
Bennet had always dreamed of love. Of finding his Mr. Right.
Hell, he’d even settle for Mr. Righteous.
Who he won’t fall for, not ever? Mr. Downright Pride-less.
7.5/10 on the Rainbow Scale™ 🌈: I want to start by saying that "Pride and Prejudice" is one of my favourite classics and the only valid heterosexual romance. Therefore, I was very excited to get to this book of the series and I had very high expectations going in. First, the good stuff: I let out an unholy screech when I realized the Mr Darcy in question was Henry's dad from the second book. I did a literal spit take and had to take five minutes to calm down enough to keep reading. Darcy's struggle to accept himself and come out as an older man after a lifetime of having been made feel scared and ashamed was incredibly sympathetic and it added another relevant layer to his conflict with his son in the previous book. He's a very well-rounded character and I'm glad we got to know him better.
The rest of it was... ok? I tried my best to relate to Bennet, but I found him excessively judgy, which I suppose was kind of the point. I do appreciate how much he wants to make their little town safer for his little brother and he does learn to be more open-minded in time. Lyon and Charlie were good supporting characters but I wish they were more fledged out.
Overall it was a good read, but it wasn't as good as the second one (my favourite of the series at the moment).

hey! ♡ #63 & #121 for the book asks?
Heyo anon!
63.) a book that actually made you laugh out loud
Oo, this one is definitely Saggittarius Saves Libra by Anyta Sunday! I have not laughed this hard from a book in awhile! (BTW: this book is quite spicy, so heads up if that's not your thing)
Jason- our main character and the Sagittarius in question- wants to find love but keeps running into dead ends that are leaving him going though the motions. All this changes when his twin brother from Australia appears and is all: "Ayo- my ex is getting married and ask me to be the best man but I'm not over him yet so...wanna swap places?"
And Jason is all: "Alright, bet."
What follows is a hilarious tale of Jason navigating wild life, discovering long lost family, and falling head over heels in love with Owen Sterling (Our dashing Libra). It's hilarious and wonderful and one of my favorite books I've read this year!
121.) a book that makes you nostalgic
Oo, this one is also tough given the amount of books I've read as a kid! I'm gonna give it to The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod by Z Brewer! This story follows our main protagonist Vladimir Tod who's just trying to make it through life. From eight grade to graduation, we follow our awkward nerd of a kid through trial and error as he attempts to juggle social life, dating, and other fun stuff.
Oh, and he's a half vampire with an entire organization of ancient vampires trying to kill him. So that's going great.
Really- these books made me so happy when I was a kid! Rereading them now, I always get a blast of nostalgia whenever I revisit my favorite vampire kiddo!
Thanks for asking!
Send me a book number ask!
