Just saw a really clickbait-y youtube video that called Blue Lock fascist in its thumbnail and I will admit first and foremost that I didn't watch it and yes I've been informed that it isn't implying that Blue Lock is some fascistic propaganda but it still got me thinking so-
here's my rant/breakdown about the ways that Blue Lock is specifically anti-fascist
So first of all, popular animes and mangas having possibly fascist undertones is nothing new. I won't deny that there's a long history of Japan being a colonizer and commiting atrocities that are still brushed off or forgotten about to this day. And this does seep into some works that I personally choose to not engage with for exactly that reason. Miss me with trying to be an apologist for or glorifying real world war crimes- But Blue Lock specifically? I'd be extremely hard pressed to call it fascist.
Fascism is defined as an alt-right, ultra nationalistic political ideology usually characterized by a centralized autocracy, forced suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy and subordination of individual interests for the believed good of the nation or race according to Wikipedia. First let's go through the ways Blue Lock does match up with that.
Ego can be easily viewed as a dictator near the beginning of the manga
Most characters thrive on putting others down for their faults and strictly believe that there is some sort of natural order where people who lack "ego" are at the bottom
There is a sort of central autocracy with the top 6
Near the beginning especially, there is a violent snuffing out of any ideology that dares oppose egocentrism or the idea that you need to be a solid team to win a game
Now let's go through the ways Blue Lock denies and even goes against Fascism.
BLLK's main goal is to make a Japanese soccer team that can win a World Cup. In a more fascist manga, we would see racism ga-fucking-lore. We can see this in animes that have more right wing leaning undertones like Attack on Titan where when race is brought in it's for conflict. There's no possibility of harmony, only winners and losers. Those protected and those put down and punished.
And Blue Lock does have an extreme focus on who wins and who loses. It is not afraid to include racism against Japanese people like with Adam or portray black people in unsettling and kind of racist ways like Dada's original design. But these elements don't automatically spell fascism. Blue Lock is careful to portray characters of color as just that, characters. They don't exist to tell you about their lives of hardship and struggle and they don't exist to justify Ego's obessesion with creating a good Japanese team. As you read BLLK, you'll notice that the artist has taken care to get better at drawing different body types and facial structures. The character design isn't trying to sell some perfect ideal like fascism so famously does, it tells you a peak athlete doesn't have one distinct look. It tells you characters from other countries are just as if not more capable than the Blue Lock boys. Hell, even Sae's hatred of Japanese football is portrayed as less of a betrayal of country and pride and more of a cultural clash. The issue to be solved in Sae's character is the way he looks down on his brother, not how much he despises Japanese football teams' tactics. We know this because Ego himself rails against them too.
A fascist manga would paint Sae as a villain for even learning from and joining teams from other countries, lending them his talent instead of keeping it in his home country. But Blue Lock encourages diversification and collaberation with other nation's teams so heavily that it is literally an entire like 5 part arc right now. Ego isn't ultra nationalistic, he just wants to make a better soccer team for his country and he isn't afraid of praising and adopting from other countries in the process. The biggest win to come out of a Blue Lock team wouldn't be that they're all Japanese but that they all follow his ideology.
Speaking of his ideology, Ego is extremely harsh and controlling, yes, but he also believes in the boys. He lets them do what they believe is best. He pushes them to their limits, not because they disobey him, but because they dissapoint him. A true fascist dictator would rule with fear with no introductions of other ideologies, he would strike at any sign of weakness or opposition. At the beginning, he does do this. But as the manga goes on we see how much wiggle room he's willing to allow. He lets Isagi curse at him and question his leadership, he lets Shidou play even though he's clearly queer and extremely volatile, he doesn't punish any of the boys for injuring each other. In a fascist society, you are expected to fit an ideal or be othered, be perfect and work together with a sense of comradere because that's the only way to prove your claims that you are the best race/nation. There can be no imperfections or cracks in the facade...But Ego lets the boys be messy. He never forces them to change who they are, only forces them to believe that they can do great things all on their own. Even with Kunigami, Wild Card wasn't a correction of his disbelief in some nation or race, but instead a correction of how limited his mindset was. In fact, in a more fascist society, Kunigami's love of playing hero and protecting his teammates would be praised and celebrated. Ego putting individuality and aspiration over the good of the team as a whole is literally a middle finger to fascism.
The villain of the series is literally a greedy Japanese man that wants to commercialize the team and make them less individualized. I don't know how much more anti-fascist you could get-
Also, Blue Lock handles disability very carefully and very well. In more alt-right ideologies than not, something you'll see again and again is this idea that disabled people don't deserve the same rights because they can't contribute to society. Disabled people are a stain to be pushed away and hidden because they contradict the central idea of a "perfect" nation. In a fascist retelling of BLLK, Chigiri would be kicked from the program, not given power and influence. In a fascist retelling of BLLK, Kenyu would be attacked and beaten as soon as it was discovered that he made it into the top-six with failing eyesight. Any physical disadvantage could easily put an athlete at the bottom of the social hierarchy as well, Blue Lock could have very very easily made fun of its disabled characters for even trying. It could get away with mistreating these players and be defended for it so fucking quickly. But instead, it lets you root for them and gives them just as much care and weight as the others. It's trying to tell you that being a good player sometimes means knowing your limits and getting help, not punishing yourself because you have some biological disadvantage. It also takes care to demonstrate that no race is inherently worse at soccer than the other.
And, of course, the elephant in the room, Noa and Kaiser. Okay...if you see German characters and immediately think OMG NAZIS??OMG FASCISM?????OMGGGG HE HAS BLONDE HAIR???AND BLUE EYES?? That's a fucking you problem and you clearly aren't reading the manga. Even Noa Noel being an older man and still being allowed to play and looked up to as the best is an example of how Blue Lock goes against steriotypes about athletes. Kaiser does have blonde hair and blue eyes yes, but he also wears eyeliner and eyeshadow and has a tattoo and dyed hair... None of that would be allowed in an actually fascist Japanese manga unless it was as caricature to make fun of and dominate. But instead, Kaiser is an actual threat who has complex arcs and behaviors. Also, Kaiser isn't fascist himself, he clearly views Isagi as an equal even though they're different nationalities and he doesn't believe in any one authority or greater cause except for himself. Noa is very strict yes, and he does rank and rate the boys, but he specifically doesn't factor race into it. He also, just like Ego, allows other ideas and patterns to emerge even if they mess up his own plans for matches. He doesn't suppress anyone and is actually extremely lax. If you think he or BLLK is "fascist", look at actual real world sports teams and their strict practices or past statements about other nationalities.
Isagi as a protaganist is anti-fascist too!!!! He's a Japanese everyman who has good Japanese parents, no disabilities, an honest personality and believes in a future where Japan wins the World Cup. In a fascist story, he'd be fucking untouchable (ESPECIALLY against characters from other countries) and all of this would be paraded as proof that a Japanese soccer team is clearly superior and all-dominating. But no! He gets beat down, questioned, disrespected and constantly shown up by others. He's not special and he's extremely self-centered. He doesn't water his own beliefs down for the "good of the nation" or whatever the fuck and he grew up idolizing foreign players. Isagi never supresses other people's ideologies, he just makes fun of them if they fuck up. He's never xenophobic, even when other characters have moments that have xenophobic undertoens like Adam or Sae's comments. Isagi Yoichi's character could have a few traits flipped and be a poster boy for some alt-right manga about how superior Japanese people or hell, Ego's pupils are. But he doesn't. He's simply designed and he's rude and he looks down on people, but he also apologizes, humbly accepts when he can improve by questioning his own ideals and is open to talking with everyone he comes across.
Calling Blue Lock a "fascist soccer manga" is not only demonstrating that you have no idea what fascism is, but also disgustingly painting over all the beautiful themes and messages within the manga.
Again I'm aware that that original video wasn't aiming to negate any of these points but I have seen people make claims and jokes before that about Blue Lock's more *beat it into your head* tendencies with ideology. And I've seen jokes specifically about the German team/the way Sae seems to just hate Japanese culture. I just dislike the painting of Blue Lock as a jumping point for discussions about fascism and its effects because of the way it handles themes like cross cultural connection, family pressures, capitalism and disability so carefully.

something about a book saying a hard no to a group of explicitly fascist antagonists (though only named as such by WOG, never stated as such in-text, as nobody in the text was ever alive at a point in which the concept of fascism existed) and calling them out on several levels, and taking special care to both
a). explain that the fascist antagonist group is looking for a leader under the known and established fuhrer principle, refusing only to actually name the term (as, again, every character lived in either the distant past or distant future and thus fascism did not exist then),
b). explictly call the concept idiotic on every possible level, claiming that the hierarchical structure it described, especially the fascist hijacking of the concept of ubermensch, and especially the concept of certain men (or in this case women) being "born to lead" as hilariously ludicrous,
and then, in the next arc, to make the main protagonist both
a). being unambiguously predisposed to leadership by factors of her birth, notably by her status as the only known survivor of telokopolis, which makes her (in the eyes of others), a natural leader.
b). deliberately compared to a god or angelic being by multiple characters, taking special care to note factors of her phenotype (unnatural eyes and hair color) as being advantageous towards her natural charisma.
Something about it just doesn't gel with me. I mean, you can't criticize fascists for fuhrer principle and then, almost immediately afterwards, basically make your character a picture-perfect fuhrer-for-which-the-principle-was-named.
Like, the story takes great pains to definitively state that Elpida was not unequivocal leader of her cadre, and that they had no hierarchy in place, only that she would lead the group in combat situations, and especially that elpida needed them very much to properly function, to the point that howl, her closest companion, quite literally lives in her head.
And then, in her new situation, it immediately undoes vast swathes of hard work establishing her as not a natural-born leader, who can make mistakes, by turning her into The Specialest Girl What Ever Lived And Who Can Do No Wrong And Also Telokopolis Is Eternal.

You ever see something where you're very much on someone's side but also you hate how they're handling the argument
Yeah
That
#look i get that telling people to fuck off and die is appealing but like. having been on the recieving end of that before. it's not good#i still haven't forgotten the people telling me to kill myself for the incredibly unpopular opinions of 'not everyone is equally bad'#or 'if they died fighting for a noble cause I'll honor their sacrifice bc even a bad person can do good things'#if you want to ratio them? fine. if you want to talk down to them? fine. if you want to treat them like children? fine. but there's a line#and for me that line is when you have a paragraph of insults with zero arguments within.#i get that debating those people gives them legitimacy they don't deserve. but I also truly believe that in order to fully destroy a nazi#you need to obliterate their arguments. you can't just say they're wrong and tell them to fuck themselves. you need to explain why#because if there's nothing disproving them then there's nothing telling other people WHY they shouldn't believe their shit.#there's no barrier or sign marking the slippery slope and big shock the slippery slope is in fact slippery! people slip! and fall!#look this may be a shocker guys but not every fascist is born a fascist. 99% of fascists are tricked into believing in fascism#I've got a whole post I'm editing specifically on that topic in fact. it's a whole thing.#if you explain to a fascist why they're wrong you don't just guard yourself against fascism. you don't just help guard others against fash.#you might even redeem a fascist and help them see the error of their ways#and even if you don't it's still worth trying!#anyways. rant over

a taste of hannibal, a touch of megamind, a shot of venom (pours the whole damn bottle)
i love venom (2018) a lot, it’s my go-to movie when i’m bored or sad, i have seen it many many times. i saw it again a week or so ago with a bud and finally had the opportunity to pen down this lovely au i’ve been thinkin bout
i’ve got a much more fleshed out sketch of how this au plays out. not sure if i’ll write it yet
anyway some bullet points
noir (called, ofc, noir) arrives on earth-138 in the 1920s. his first host is robbie and they basically go through the venom movie, where noir slowly learns to love earth and humanity and all that jazz. up until the 50s or so they’re an investigative reporter and occasionally a scary vigilante superhero!
when robbie is killed (not ewaf style. i forbid it), it fucking devastates noir and he host-hops for a bit, doing fun anarchy things to keep up robbie’s legacy but also losing a few morals here and there. he can do a little murder and eat nazis as a treat
the symbiotes arrive en masse and osborn infects humans with them to turn into his fascist riot police army
through vampire-hunting-esque shenanigans, hobie and noir meet, and strike up a tenuous truce to fight the government. hobie does not like him at first, but noir very much does ;)
cue a slow burn gothic romance between a freedom fighter and a devoted monster <3

Okay, I'm done being subtle about this.
I keep mentioning in my tags and in a post recently that World War II was allowed to happen because Hitler started conquering Germany's neighbors.
The world didn't interfere at the time due to 1) not wanting to start another war so soon after WWI, and 2) The Great Depression was nearing its end, but still happening.
Hitler's excuse at the time was to "reunite Germany" since part of the treaty of WWI was taking all of Germany's military away and splitting the country. They brought it to its knees as much as possible. So when Germany started taking that back, when they started rebuilding their army, it was illegal to do so because of the treaty, but no one stopped them.
Things only escalated to a full-on war when Hitler invaded Poland, after being threatened not to do so by several other countries. He did it anyway.
This is what we are currently seeing in Palestine right now.
What Israel is doing is, by international law, illegal. The people who have the power to stop them are not doing so. Israel is operating under an excuse ("self-defense," and religious zionists support them because they are "taking back the Holy land and fulfilling God's promise" or whatever), and Israel is now attacking Lebanon and Yemen.
They're just going to keep going.
I've been hesitant to call Israel a Nazi state due to the sheer amount of baggage that comes with that, but there is no denying it at this point. They're neo-nazi fascists who are following in their own oppressors footsteps, spreading hatred and violence to other parts of the world while no one in power stops them. Hell, even worse, this time around, the people in power are fucking funding it.
If you think this "war" won't affect you, think again.
If you ask me, looking back on history, if we don't put a stop to this in its tracks soon, then I fear this is only the beginning.
Know your history. Stand with Palestine. Ceasefire NOW.

BOBA AU - CHAPTER 1 EXTRAS
Tumblr media
I had actually drawn a few more things than could fit within the 30-image-per-post limit. Here are the ones that didn't make the cut, with commentary!
(tw: mild animal abuse, n*zi mention, suggestive themes)
Tumblr media
Zilch's animal companions. I named Carmina Burana and Tortellini, Gucci and Bosch were named by my friends - though Bosch was supposed to be called Hieronymus, it just didn't fit on the nametag lol
Tumblr media
I wanted to illustrate some examples of Zilch casually mistreating/neglecting the animals but this was as far as I got. I don't think he would be a full on animal abuser, just... the type of person who likes having a bunch of pets to show off but doesn't really think about properly caring for them. He likes the aesthetics of animals much more than the logistics.
Tumblr media
This was gonna be the chapter cover and I forgot. Oops.
Tumblr media
This was just practice drawing the church characters from their sprites.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zilch: I must say, it's an unexpected pleasure to run into another kindred spirit around here. I'm Zilch~
This scene was actually cut deliberately. I drew it before I decided exactly what the Nun's issue with Zilch would be and then once I did, I felt like it didn't fit anymore. Zilch is still excited to see someone else with ears and tail like him, but in the final version, he's a lot more derisive about it.
I imagine the Nun is, like, an actual animal-human hybrid whereas Zilch is a furry with a wallet that can afford bioengineered bodymods. (One day, my friends... one day...)
Tumblr media
Zilch being flippant and Halara being dismissive/tsundere. Couldn't really find a place to put it but I still like the drawing - even if I did accidentally give Zilch human ears.
By the way, you might notice Zilch hasn't been wearing his cap. There are two reasons. One is to show off that his ears aren't actually connected to it. If I had the time to go back and redraw the prologue with him wearing it - so Halara's "holy fuck" reaction makes more sense here - I would. (Not really worth trying to fix though, not until the rest of the story is done.)
But the other reason is that upon looking closer at Zilch's original design, I thought it was a little too evocative of Nazi imagery and wasn't really comfortable with it. It's not really the same style of hat, sure, but combined with the swastikas in his eyes??? yeah no way is that not intentional. (I redesigned his eye symbols to be catlike slit pupils instead.)
I get he (or, the hitman, I guess) is supposed to be a villain, and a minor one, in the original game... but here I'm gonna flesh him out a bit more. So I guess in that sense the removal of the hat symbolizes his growth as a character beyond his terrible awful fascist upbringing lol (more on that in the Gumshoe Gabs soon)
Tumblr media
If I were making this an actual game it would be fun to have Yuma get a fun little added gameplay element of using Zilch's Forte like he does with Halara's. He gets some little animal friends!!!
I imagined Zilch would ask to be carried, but Halara won't do it without getting paid an exorbitant amount. And then Zilch forks over the cash on the spot. Yuma screams internally. If he had that the whole time why were they even trying to negotiate over the coat???!? Why does he still have his own debt to pay if Zilch could just cover the whole thing up front????
Halara has to pretend not to be enthusiastic about this opportunity.
Shinigami is... there, I guess.
Tumblr media
Martina my wife driving around her little parasite of a boyfriend. Ms Electro please call me
Tumblr media
Was originally gonna have Seth say that out loud but then I remembered he doesn't want to lose his job. (It's okay, he loses it anyway.)
(Also yes this is pre-Vivia-DLC.)
And then the mystery is solved!
Tumblr media
Zilch feels indebted to Halara for saving him from the Nail Man, and wants to follow their example, turn it around, treat his animals better... his act of goodwill here is extremely performative, though. But, hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere!
Ultimately I cut this scene after coming up with the cat bed idea. (Was very tempted to have Halara cruelly taking the coat from the boy, but just decided to skip it instead.)
So Zilch kinda idolizes Halara now... which is fine... but then the morning after he really lets his simp flag fly.
Tumblr media
Congrats on your furry boyfriend, I guess?????
Tumblr media
A doodle from the margins of this comic way back when.... which finally has a place to belong! \o/
Tumblr media
Zilch's fursona. His "zursona," if you will.
Thanks again for reading! I love everyone's comments in the tags and I'm so glad you all like my version of Zilch especially. Excited to develop him some more in future chapters >:)

Okay, so, I just got an ask in my inbox from someone bitching at me for "defending" Erwin Rommel, the German general from WWII that some people think Erwin is based on or inspired by. They said "I can't believe you would defend Erwin Rommel because of a mid anime. He turned against Hitler in 1944 because the war was turning, not because he was against Fascism". Needless to say, I'm not going to play into this morons game by actually directly answering them, but I do want to make a point which is important to understand.
Because here's the thing that idiots like this don't get. The morons like this, that want to accuse AoT of being antisemitic, Fascist propaganda, they say all this shit while laboring under the belief that the Eldian's are "meant to be Jews", and because they can turn into Titans, Isayama was making some nefarious insinuation that Jews are actually monsters.
This is so stupid, it shouldn't even need to be addressed, but I will anyway, because some fuckers need to get their heads out of their assess.
First of all, nothing in AoT is meant to be a direct or 1 to 1 allegory of anything. It's an amalgamation of different historical events all meshed together. Second of all, none of these people seem to want to acknowledge that the closest group the Eldian's resemble, in reality, are the Germans, not Jews. It doesn't even make sense for Eldian's to be seen as Jewish, or as a stand in for Jews, because everything about them, from their history, to their names, to their culture and architecture and religious beliefs, resembles German and Germanic culture and history, including the German's historically warmongering ways. Remember, the Eldian's started off as a warring, Viking-like tribe of people who went around conquering other tribes of people. And the arc of the Yeagerist's eventually coming to power most resembles how the Nazi's eventually came to power, through the German people being horrifically oppressed and punished for the outbreak of WWI through the Treaties of Versailles, something we see reflected in how the Eldian's were eventually punished for their warmongering, cut off from the rest of the world, isolated and stolen from. Even if Erwin Smith is inspired by or based on Erwin Rommel, how does that in any way, shape or form indicate some Fascist or antisemitic agenda on Isayama's part, when Erwin Smith clearly isn't meant to be Jewish, but in every way resembles a German man? Let's suppose he is inspired by Rommel, again, it only supports the likelihood that the Eldian's are meant to be German, not Jews, and so the entire crux of these fucking moron's argument, that Isayama is being "antisemitic" because the Eldian's can turn into titans, completely falls apart, when the people that can turn into titans aren't meant to be seen as Jews, but clearly more obviously resemble Germans. Further, Erwin Smith is a fictional character. Just because he was inspired by a real-life historical figure doesn't mean he's meant to be that historical figure. While Erwin may share some superficial aspects with Rommel, Erwin is still a fictional character, and possesses multiple characteristics that differ immensely from Rommel in every way. People don't seem to understand that inspiration for a character or theme doesn't mean the character or theme is meant to be a direct representation of the thing that inspired it.
Further, one of the main themes of AoT is that we all have the capability to be monsters. Eldian's being able to turn into titans isn't meant to be seen as some sort of condemnation of their race. We aren't meant to hate them for this. The entire idea is that people, all people, can be monsters, their having some weird, magical ability to turn into titans having nothing to do with it. The Marleyans were just as monstrous as the Eldian's ever were in the way they treated people, in the things they did, in the agenda they pushed, and in their warmongering. They couldn't turn into titans, but they were every bit as bad, every bit as capable of evil. Again, the ability to turn into a titan isn't ever meant as any sort of statement as to the nature of the Eldian people. It's human nature itself that is framed as the real monster. It's also important to note that the Eldian's turning into titans wasn't ever something they wanted or which they chose to do. They were forced to turn into titans, either by the former rulers of the Eldian Empire, or by the Marleyan government, both of which utilized them as weapons against their wills. The Eldian people subjected to this were never meant to be seen as monsters, but as victims. We were always meant to feel sympathetic toward them for being used and forced against their wills to do something they had no say in or wish for. We see their persecution clearly framed as a bad thing, a very bad thing, which ultimately leads to tragedy and untold destruction and death. We see the prejudice against them clearly framed to be something wrong and evil, the very thing which ultimately leads to Marley's own demise. Again, if you want to make some sort of direct comparison to real, historical events, this all clearly resembles what happened with Germany and the rest of Europe after WWI, with the German people being convinced that they were being denied their god given destiny and right to exist through the extreme punishment exacted upon them by the rest of the world. Nazism and the National Socialist Party took hold because the German people felt deeply wronged and persecuted, which they were. The entire country was practically destroyed by the harsh sanctions and restrictions placed on it. The reaction from the German people in real life is something we see reflected in the Yeagerist's eventually coming to power and exacting their "revenge" on the rest of the world through their support of Eren. The Eldian's were, just like the German people, unduly punished and made to suffer for the wrongs of their past government and rulers, and eventually grew resentful and longing for the days when they saw themselves as glorious and powerful. We see this reflected earlier on in the story with Grisha Yeager's extremism and his belief that the Eldian empire should be restored, etc... His and the Yeagerists desire to take back what was once "theirs", spurred on by excessive punishment and cruelty and persecution from the rest of the world. This, again, all resembles Germany, and what happened with Germany following WWI, with the rise of Nazism and Hitler. How people can miss this is beyond me. They're so fucking stupid, and ignorant to boot. The rise of the Yagerists was never meant to be seen as a good thing. I don't care how many dumb fuck Yeagerists there are in the fandom, or how many morons try to make excuses for Eren's actions, the story plainly frames his actions and the Yeagerists taking over Paradis as a horrifically bad thing, one which leads to unspeakable tragedy and destruction, just like the rise of Nazism did in real life. Anyone who's read or watched AoT would know this. But then, I think most of the people that actually believe AoT is some sort of fascist, antisemitic propaganda haven't ever actually read or watched the manga or anime. If they did, assuming they have any, actual functioning brain cells, they would know how absurd and nonsensical such a belief is.
And once more, I reiterate, nothing in AoT is meant to be seen or taken as a direct or 1 to 1 allegory for any, real life historical event. Isayama was clearly inspired by multiple sources and multiple parts of history when he crafted his story. But it's still a work of original fiction, which is it's own thing, and which can't be taken as some sort of political or ideological statement on anything in real life. It's a self-contained work of art which, while it may have some resemblance to real life events, isn't and never was meant to be seen as an allegory for those events.
Anyway, that's all I'm going to say on this matter.

There was a dude who showed up to a 40k tournament in nazi shit and GW had to like. “The empire sucks please it’s satire the empire is terrible it’s the entire point we Will ban you for being a nazi here.”
I think *everything* about the lore even stuff they still put out screams that they are fascist and evil and yet people still don’t get it, or actively are drawn to it anyway like yes they are fascist more of this please!
i'm gonna have to disagree with you on this, tbh--i think the fascists who love the empire are 'getting it' just fine.
sure, the stuff that comes out about the empire and space marines is clear that they are cruel and violent. but they are cruel and violent and right. but they're also very very big on the heroism of the space marines, the glorious power of the god-emperor, how real the threat of chaos is. chaos as it exists in warhammer 40k is basically the fantasy of the fascist made reality--a creeping, ever-infiltrating, ontologically evil force that will take root and destroy everything if perfect purity and control are maintained for even a second. like, yes, the empire is very clearly fascist, but they exist in a setting in which fascist propaganda is fundamentally true. fascists are able to see themselves in the empire because empire is, again and again, justified and vindicated by 40k's writing.
and tbh this was barely better in the early days, as much as people like to cry 'well it was meant to be satire', but at least the empire used to be also extremely fucking textually useless and incompetent to the point where they were doing more harm than good. but over the years this has entirely given way to the hypercompetent Tough Men Doing What Needs Doing space marine wank that makes up 99% of 40k output nowadays

May I Find You One December RENAMED Here I Go Again
1: Don't Know Where I'm Going, Sure Know Where I've Been
for @fizzigigsimmer
(caligator, referenced past harringrove, age difference, referenced character death, references to neofascism/evangelicalism)
.
Billy’d been warned against stopping in Stark County, but when you had to go, you had to go—and anyway, he was running low on gas. And snacks.
And, since he wasn’t a spring chicken anymore, it’d be wise to get out, work the rust from his joints a bit.
Glancing around as he filled the tank, the town looked normal enough; your average main drag in Middle of Nowhere, North Dakota. Couple sleepy shops, general store, dinky diner—one of those blue lives matter flags hanging limp by the door, vivid polyester garish against all the beige.
Basic shit.
No obvious signs of a place under the iron thumb of a white nationalist evangelical militia, and he was just about to roll the dice on that diner, maybe snag a coffee and a slice of pie, when a police cruiser ambled into view, pulled into the fueling station opposite.
Just his fucking luck.
Billy studied the pump, face schooled a pleasant bland. Marveled at how, even after all these years, his days of tussling with fascist pigs long behind him, the same wolves were stirring in his head. One baring its teeth on a low growl, ready and willing to tear the fucker to shreds, the other poised, still as stone, itching to turn tail and run at the first sign of trouble.
At fifty years old—fifty plus, but who was counting—he preferred neither option. The meter clicked off, and he watched his hands replace the nozzle, screw on the gas cap.
Even his hands were fucking old. Thicker—blocky knuckles. Veins starting to bulge. Grandpa hands.
Sense memory flashed, suppressed so quick and smooth it left barely a ripple. Wouldn’t do to indulge in fond longing for those gay glory days, for the hands he still missed like phantom limbs, some nights, this aching absence. Not within spitting distance of a patrol car.
Because why test the thought police, right? He could reminisce on youthful love lost when he was back on the highway, heading west.
Good boy, he heard, like Billy had a tin can cupped to his ear, the string trailing off into the fog of time.
So strange what stayed sharp, he mused, rounding the hood, gripping his keys. Behind him, the cruiser door swung open with a creak. Like—despite the photos, it was hard to really conjure the face, hold it steady in his mind. A face through a window in the rain, and more so as the years slid by. But that voice still whispered clear as day—sometimes a Jiminy Cricket, keeping Billy out of trouble, sometimes a little prankster demon, pure trickster.
And the hands. The feel of those hands had never left him, touch embedded in the skin.
He sniffed, ducking his chin, scolding himself. So much for smothering his inner queer.
The door was open, sanctuary of the driver’s seat calling his name, when something drew his attention across the way—some movement, maybe, or shift in the air. Pulling his gaze, against his better judgment, to meet the bored stare of the emerging cop.
His chest—seized, breath caught in tight lungs by a tighter throat. Distantly wondered if this was what a heart attack felt like—crushed in a cold fist.
Because the eyes staring back at him were Steve’s. The furrowed brow above lips pinched in a frown. The lines of his jaw, his nose. Like the rain had stopped and he could see him clear through the pane. Then the lips twisted, a sudden sneer, straight out of senior year.
“Got a problem, pal?”
Billy blinked rapid, took in the flak jacket and badge announcing him as the Sheriff’s stooge, the douchey camo hoodie layered underneath, dark hair slicked back, sides shaved like he’d stepped off the cover of Nazi Vogue.
What the fuck.
“Asked you a question, old man.”
Billy coughed, half a laugh, half choke, and shook his head. Same voice—his voice. Steve’s. Only the tone was all wrong—mean and self-important—more like… like Billy, once upon a time.
Like if his old bratty attitude and Steve’s voice had a baby. That’s what he was hearing right now. Like—
Wrenching his brain back on track, Billy rebooted. Cut him off before the brat could launch another volley.
“Sorry, officer,” he said, and couldn’t help it—the amusement thrumming beneath the words, or more accurately, the unhinged hysteria. “Must be going senile.”
The eyes narrowed—assuming that if he wasn’t in on the joke, he must be the butt of it.
“In fact,” Billy went on, blindly following some instinct, he knew not where. “Think I might be having some heart trouble.”
The cop did not spring to the aid of a needy citizen, but eyed him skeptically. “You smell burnt toast?”
“That’s for a stroke,” Billy corrected, and he’d gone and done it again—only this time a fondness threading the wry mockery. “Heart attack is pain in your arm and whatnot.”
The brat didn’t shoot him dead for perceived disrespect, which was something. Really he just seemed—confused. Baffled. And boy, Billy was right there with him.
This wasn’t Steve, he reminded himself. Wasn’t him. Just a random dead ringer in Middle of Nowhere, North Dakota, a likely foot soldier in the brutal local militia.
And Billy should just leave him to it, obviously. Because this wasn’t Steve.
So—bid the doppelganger adieu, get the hell out of dodge. Billy cleared his throat.
“Don’t suppose protect and serve extends to helping some geezer find a place to eat while he rests awhile?”
Now the perplexed indignation was out in force, head tilted so far to the side it was liable to roll off his neck.
Hand to God, Billy thought he’d kicked the death wish long ago—his Y2K resolution—and yet here he was. Still talking, coaxing the neofascist to come closer, chucking all caution to the wind for a pair of pretty, over-familiar eyes.
“C’mon,” he said, and made the smirk self-deprecating. “I make it across the street without keeling over, I’ll buy ya a coffee.”
The brat straightened, something like tolerant intrigue settled in the quirk of his brow. “All right, then, old timer.” As they stepped off the sidewalk: “Don’t expect me to hold your elbow or nothing.”
“Oh, nah,” Billy replied, waving him off. “Dignity won’t allow it.” And then—he winked. Winked at the boogaloo boy. He’d lost his mind. Farewell, sanity.  “Name’s Billy.”
No response from the boy in blue until they reached the diner steps. “I’m Gator,” he said, hauling the door open, gruffness at odds with the tinkling bell.
To his credit, Billy didn’t break down into gibbering laughter.
Gator. This asshat wearing Steve’s face, this Duck Dynasty heir apparent—was named Gator.
Way off in Indiana, Steve must’ve been rolling in his grave.

So I Finally Finished Attack of the Clones
...for the very first time. When did this movie come out again? I am late, is there still room on this bandwagon? Anyway more thought vomiting on this movie...
Sith Pattern: I do appreciate that Palpatine is old, rich, white male fascist. Dooku is old, rich, white male fascist. Anakin shakes things up a bit by starting out young and poor but he’ll get there and has the rest down. Meanwhile our heroes are Padme Amidala, Mace Windu, Yoda, Bail, etc. Would have loved for George Lucas’ original casting of Obi Wan to have gone through! This does make Mirror!verses and morality flip AU's very weird because the Galaxy is being saved from aliens by three white guys? Unfortunate implications aside I can suspend a lot of disbelief about laser-swords and magic IN SPACE but I gotta draw the line somewhere.
Anakin’s attachment: Is well-shown here with convenient comparison to Cleigg – her husband and her son, the two who should love Shmi the most. At her funeral Cleigg is all ‘you’re in a better place. Thank you for the time we had,’ vs Anakin’s ‘I wasn’t strong enough to save you, I won’t fail again’ and ‘I miss you’. Exact opposites. Cleigg was entirely focused on Shmi while Anakin was focused on himself.
Also Anakin’s focus kinda screwed up Obi Wan’s mission when he wasted precious moments FINDING Anakin to get his galactically-important message through.
Mace Windu Not Killing Dooku: Shatterpoint, along with some fanfics, has Mace beating himself up for not ending the war by killing Dooku but my man you’re too hard on yourself! You only killed Jango when he decided to fuck around and find out with you in the death arena. Dooku did not fuck around and find out so your only chance would’ve been to throw away all your Jedi morals and stab him in the back! Thus risking becoming Darth Tyrannus 2.0 and screwing the galaxy.
Jango why did you fuck around and find out? I get Mace held a laser sword to your throat and you had a working jetpack going into the arena…but that arena is No Man’s Land. Even if Galidraan was canon you could’ve stayed back and taken pot shots.
The scene with Boba giving one last keldabe kiss to his father’s helmet is heartbreaking! Ouch!!!
Padme: So I kinda get being willing to confess her terrible taste in men on Space Fantasy Death Row. She doesn’t want to live a lie and is straight up expecting to die so what does it matter if she confesses? And then she does live so consequence time! Still feels like she’s ignoring the genocide – or George Lucas is ignoring the obvious implications. Genocide does work for foreshadowing Jedi genocide and Nazi comparisons (boy howdy does it!!!). But murdering every single member of an entire tribe down to the babes in arms doesn’t work for ‘Anakin doesn’t Fall here, he just dips his toe in the Dark’.
Padme otherwise doesn’t seem too terribly out of character throughout. She stands her ground against Anakin and where she does give in – rescuing Shmi – or chooses to go after Obi Wan? Well both did do her immensely big favors it’d be weirder if she brushed them off. Plus, rescuing both comes with additional benefits – no assassin will look for her on Tattooine (it worked before) and Obi Wan’s rescue could offer the opportunity to discuss peace with the Separatists before war happened.
And it did – in the cut scene :P
Dual with Dooku: So Anakin did put his duty first when Padme fell in the (barren, sans enemies) sand with an ally but damn if his attachment to her wasn’t still affecting him. The hot-headed idiotic attack was the worst possible timing! Why does everyone beat Mace up (including the man himself) for not killing Dooku but give Anakin a pass when he had every chance of ending the war Right There if he’d been able to keep his head on straight for two minutes.
The End: As with the first movie, we end with Mace and Yoda clearly knowing what the Sith are doing, though they're split with Mace believing Dooku while Yoda thinks its a trick. And I think they’re both right because I read somewhere Dooku and Palpatine were hoping to sow doubt between the Jedi and the Senate but also was telling the truth – from a certain point of view. Anyway, they aren't oblivious. Yoda straight up says the Shroud of the Dark Side has Fallen.
The last scene really drives that home! How the beginning of the war is the beginning of the Empire. The war kills the Republic and this is repeatedly smacked into our brains with the imagery of Palpatine standing at the head of everyone else, the most powerful Supreme Chancellor ever as the army of white-clad troopers marches out into the galaxy below him. The Destroyers lift off. The Empire’s freaking theme music plays.
Overall the movie had its high points and stinkers but that was a damn fine end!

I swear to god if another person requires a point to be couched in a nazi analogy to actually believe something is evil i'm going to lose my mind.
The repeated sentiment of "oh but like nazis they'll ____ to ____ too" that liberals seemingly require to understand a currently active atrocity is occuring is bad, because their peace is so entwined with evil and violence that in order to seperate things and ignore the cognative dissonace of this they require everything be framed as an analogy to past horrors they couldn't possibly be connected to.
Which fits real nicely with the neoliberal idea that USAmericans weren't the basis of the practices of the modern facist ethnostate but rather that we were the deciding factor in the quest to conquer Hitler!
Reading the notes on some of ur posts nearly had me pulling hair out thinking about this, hope ur hanging in there.
When I was reincarnating for this life as a disabled neurodivergent queer brown native, I did not realize I selected the hardest character build or that people would keep sacrificing my well being for the comfort of some privileged assholes.
Now Im watching those same people beg for solidarity against Trump in the name of their safety, from the comfort of their fucking beds and houses, while Palestine is being obliterated and starved.
Years of leftists asking them to end the cycle, to stop voting for "lesser evils" because even "lesser" evils are still evil and commit war crimes.
We're told to shut up and "think of the majority" or "the greater good" or "do you want Fascists to win?"
Now they're excusing a fucking genocide. Can you believe?
As someone who is NEVER considered as part of the majority or "greater good" that people should consider when voting... I'm hanging in there, but there are not enough words and there will never be enough words for the rage seething in me and every other native as we watch settlers and people we called our allies turn on us and our siblings around the globe after we showed up for them.
After we KNEW they were just pandering to us and we wanted to believe them anyway..to fight fascism.
And now they're excusing several genocides??? so we'll vote for Biden??? in the name of THEIR safety?

I got the latest issue of a wargaming magazine I often get, Miniature Wargames, and it has an article about a YouTube video called ‘The BIG PROBLEM with historical wargames’, and it’s basically... that in WW2 wargames, someone has to play the Nazis or the Axis and thus, if you do like that of wargame, you also have to have fascist sympathies to want to play it, and that means that historical wargaming isn’t as popular as sci-fi and fantasy wargaming because of that.
The article was good, since the author does quote the video in the places that matter and he also very much shows that the creator of the video is very much wrong (historical wargaming, in the latest poll by Wargames, Soldiers & Strategies shows that historical wargaming, specifically WW2, was higher than GW’s Age of Sigmar/Warhammer Fantasy/Warhammer 40k combined, which only came in at rank three), and he also points out that people aren’t uncomfortable with WW2-based games anyway since there are a metric shit tonne of WW2 focused video games out there that do amazing numbers, even if their developers are turning into complete asshats.
But putting focus on the idea that, if you want to a play a WW2 game which includes the Nazis, you must have fascist sympathies is just... It’s such shit logic. Do you want to go around raping and killing people if you play wargames with Vikings or pirates in it? Do you support the idea of sacrificing people to gods if you play as the Aztecs?
No-one asks those sorts of questions when it comes to other time periods, only WW2. Yes, WW2 draws a very fucked up crowd a lot and there’s no denying those people exist in the wargaming hobby either. But I’ve found that you have to purposefully seek those sorts of people out to find them. Same with supporters of the Confederacy for American Civil War wargames (That’s another one that’s not asked: ‘Do you support the enslavement of black people if you play as the Confederacy in wargames?).
So I don’t think it is a big problem in wargaming. I think it’s the creator of the video purposefully going out of their way to focus in on a problem that doesn’t exist to try and get easy clicks on a video.

yall roman is not a nazi. kendall is not a nazi. (because ive seen people say shit)
They are something worse*. (addition for clarification: compared to what you think of when you accuse someone of being a nazi/fascist nowadays). They are no conviction no lean people, Shiv included. Who do not care whether the next US president gets his ideas from Hitler, so long as the president is in their pocket.
they will fuck anyone and quite literally everyone for their own selfish interest.
Roman pushing Mencken win because Mencken favours Roman and has spoken to him nicely and told him they're going to go far. So Roman steps onto the floor and pushes the narrative, pushes them to call. (also funny the "we're gonna go far" thing esp compared to roman x gerri implosion).
Kendall who for a few second considers how this shit might affect his daughter (a far cry from caring about people in general but hey). That is until his ego is bruised by Shiv's scheming and he decides to agree with Roman... Pathetic, and tragic. Also a bad father, but overall yeah not a good person really. Just chasing his own validation/interest.
And Shiv. Shivy shiv shiv. Who has always been on her high horse because she was the one working for a left leaning politician. She was the one unmarred by ATN and all these duplicitous deals that happen. Until she wasn't. Until Logan dragged her into the narrative and then kicked her a bit just to test her. Until she was consciously part of the abuse cycle bcs up until then she was at least in her opinion much better than her brothers. Until she was making lawsuits and witnesses go away. Shiv who has always cared about people until they are NRPI, right? And Shiv who when given the chance to find common ground between Jimenez and the Roy bros throws it into trash because I guess she knows... she knows that if she calls Nate up she might be able to get something done.
So, she doesn't. She pretends to call and lies to her brothers because when weighing her own benefit (scheme w/ Matsson) against the well-being of the entire country (not having a nazified douche for president) - Shiv Roy chooses her own self-interest. She appeals to the brothers that they need to call for Jimenez, without trying to broker a deal which she now knows might be a no-go for them. But she doesn't sacrifice her self-interest to get them there. She doesn't talk to Nate or Jimenez, or tell them valid reasons why they should probably block the trade (general behaviour, dodgy numbers etc etc).
And this is why ALL of them are worse than just saying "oh my fave turned out to be a nazi"... nah they didn't. They are worse bcs they're flighty as fuck, trying to sit on the highest nicest chair, eat their cake, and benefit while shit hits the fan.
And they're still doing it because of a man who has died and has never listened to what either of them was saying, or wanted. They're still trying to validate themselves by proving to Logan that they're the best one. But Logan is dead, and wouldn't have approved anyway.
tldr; I LOVE THEM!!
* before I get people coming to my replies reblog and ask saying "you can't be worse than a nazi/fascist" let's just state that yes I agree with that statement and I don't want to be debating this to no end. if you compare how kendall shiv and roman behave vs what mencken (modern day fascist/nazi representation) is doing they are not on the same level imo. mencken while deplorable is at least less of a shady fuck compared to the roy siblings. I am not claiming that anything that has happened in this fictional series is in any way worse than ww2 atrocities.

I'm sure you all know about that shitty transphobic comic artist, sinfest, aka Tatsuya Ishida. maybe you've seen one or two of his comics from people making fun of him. maybe you remember how he used to be a "male ally of radical feminists" or whatever a few years ago. I still see people spreading his shit around without realizing how terrible he is.
Tumblr media
he supports the Jan 6 insurrection. he sees it as a "epic battle between woke gay anarchy man and cool based qanon guy" and not literally a coup
Tumblr media
he's extremely antisemitic
Tumblr media
like, really fucking antisemitic
Tumblr media
like, "not even gonna hide it, evil lizard shapshifters are taking over the government and grooming your children!" antisemitic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he blatantly supports literal nazis websites. those icons are for websites that host far right video sharing platforms, trumps new social media, and literal neo nazis
Tumblr media
look at this shit. he's complaining about "soyboys", "the pandemic", etc. but also thinks that the transphobic ideologies that pretend to be feminists aren't mainstream. too much time on 4chan I see...
and notice how in every single one of these comics he draws himself as a tiny girl. reminder that Tatsuya is a middle aged adult man.
wait a minute. that little girl self insert looks familiar
Tumblr media
oh, look at that. one of his older comics from about a decade ago, using that exact character, and being blatantly misogynistic and antifeminist.
terfs and radfems, let this be a reminder to you. he was never a feminist. he is a sexist transphobic racist antisemitic homophobic abilst pig. he slid past your stupid ideology on the way to full on fascism. let that sink in: radical "feminism" is just the middle point between edgy antifeminist garbage and full on nazism. if you support this guy, you are not, and have never been, a feminist.
you didn't have a problem with him drawing himself as a ten year old girl. you didn't have a problem with his blatant sexism bleeding into his comics with his fembot crap. "oh but like he's drawing the sexy women getting beat up because that's how society views women" no its how HE views SEX WORKERS. him constantly showing his fembot characters getting destroyed or reprogrammed is his view that all sex workers, and by extention all women, should either change their views or be killed.
now he's gone full mask off fascist with absolutely no subtlety or shame. and some of you STILL think he's a radfem ally. which means you're okay with radfems being nazis as long as it doesn't affect you.
anyway, Tatsuya Ishida is a nazi, and anyone who supports him is a nazi. how can you look at these disgusting antisemitic lizard drawings and still support him?

So, a certain pathological liar is now claiming my server had 14 year olds sending nudes in it. Want to know where she got these claims? She got them from a fascist lolicon named Davi, who made an extensive callout thread because I exposed his buddy Fate CEO for being a creep. Also, I am going to do something that Courtney never does and share the receipts to prove this shit. https://imgur.com/a/GnrKT8q This right here is a screenshot of the callout thread Courtney found my private account from. It is a Twitter account known as GosickAgora. This is Davi's alt meant for accusations against people he doesn't like, since his main accounts keep getting reported. Anyway, let me share some receipts of Courtney's new friend here.
https://imgur.com/a/i4UBn0E
This right here is a screenshot of Davi posting a 4chan post reading "Petite women are pinnacle of femininity and fertility. The simple sight of such female activates the most primal breeding desire inside a healthy male. No alpha male would think two times before pursuing and seducing such creature to his bed. Their small, erotic bodies are...." Okay, you get the idea. If you want the full text, you can click the link. But that's not all.
https://imgur.com/a/WbE2bVt
Here is a leaked DM of Davi thirsting over Brazilian middle schoolers. https://imgur.com/a/DxgNBua
Here is a screenshot of Davi thirsting over 11 year olds.
https://imgur.com/a/q3BTZH9
This right here is from one of Davi's alts, where his pinned thread is about how he would rape Nadeko Sengoku. I have elected to not include the entire thread, but I can confirm that this is indeed how Davi likes to introduce himself to others. https://imgur.com/a/OmzA29w This is Davi saying that minors can consent to sex. https://imgur.com/a/gVllXam This is Davi saying, and I quote "Young women with high fertility and egg count and egg count deserve to be more appreciated than 35+ women that have 100 times more risk for birth defects." https://imgur.com/a/pNfROoG https://imgur.com/a/ewLtfX8 Here is Davi defending Dorontabi, a lolicon artist who traced pictures of real kids for their artwork. But Davi doesn't just defend pedophillia, he also defends slavery.
https://imgur.com/a/zFvKPbZ
https://imgur.com/a/jPnBOVX
He also defends child abuse (while also claiming I'm grooming a 13 year old because I tried to contact CPS about their abusive parents who literally starved them, and because I affirmed their gender identity) https://imgur.com/a/x3XLUu1 https://imgur.com/a/jSuadIn And speaking of defending abusers, Davi has also fake claimed my own CSA and defends my rapist. https://imgur.com/a/mtAq58S Davi is also fond of Palestinian genocide. https://imgur.com/a/NK6WYUc But here's where it gets really fucked. You know how Courtney has attacked Poppy for her incest fetish repeatedly. See if you can guess what fetish Davi has. Though, Davi's fetish is quite distinct from Poppy in that Davi not only has an underage sister, Davi has made "jokes" about his sexual attraction to her multiple times.
https://imgur.com/a/3lVT8AC
https://imgur.com/a/sNcpNxj
https://imgur.com/a/odjo27w
https://imgur.com/a/JWth9kM
https://imgur.com/a/M6TcAfT
https://imgur.com/a/dh9Bq3S
https://imgur.com/a/0aM9ikk
https://imgur.com/a/Uux2339
https://imgur.com/a/lLgEcvT
https://imgur.com/a/7hLPATH
https://imgur.com/a/JJmAbHb
Does this sound familiar Courtney? Oh, and Davi has even brought his underage sister onto a Twitter spaces chat with him. https://imgur.com/a/q4c7stu So, Courtney, you've gone ahead and allied yourself with a Nazi pedophile who is grooming his underage sister... in order to get back at Poppy because she outted you as a sex pest who sends unsolicited nudes.
And since then, you've made it your mission to harass and smear any other abuse survivor who calls you on your shit, using the exact same tactics that your sister does. If I were you, I'd reconsider a lot of things.
